The iconic poet educated in Urdu, Persian and Arabic was celebrated by google with its new doodle on his 220nd birthday. It shows a poetic figure gazing out into the pink skies with his pen and paper, while minarets peek out in the distances placing the landscape somewhere in Delhi that was home to Ghalib for most of his life.

This google doodle commemrates the man who weaved eternal magic with his words. Not having a source of income himself and depending on gifts and contributions from family and friends and the royal patronage, Ghalib was focused on poetry for all of his 71 years. His house Ghalib Ki Haveli in Chandni Chowk of Old Delhi has been converted into a museum filled with his prose and verses.

Google loves to pay tributes to legends around the world. And it often dedicates its most famous doodle to the legend, marking their birthdays, anniversaries and special days. In the past, Google has paid tribute to a number of Pakistani legends as well including the late Mehdi Hassan and also Abdul Sattar Edhi to name a few.

Today the world’s biggest search engine, has dedicated its doodle to honor Pakistan’s most favorite and loved, chocolate hero, Waheed Murad, on what would be his 81st birthday.

Waheed Murad, in his time, was considered one of the most influential actors of South Asia. Ruling hearts with his romantic characters, Murad, was given the title of the Chocolate Hero.

Born in Karachi, Waheed Murad, started his film career when he was just 21 years old. He landed in his screen break in 1959 in a cameo role in the film Saathi. From then on, Waheed Murad, is known to have acted in acted in 125 feature films and earned 32 film awards.

Waheed Murad won a number of awards for recognition of his services to the film industry. However, in November 2019, 27 years after his death, the actor was awarded ‘Sitara-e-Imtiaz’, the third-highest honour and civilian award by the State of Pakistan, for his contribution to the entertainment industry.

Waheed Murad, passed away at the ripe age of 45, in the year 1983. The cause of his death, to date, remains a mystery. Whether it was a suicide or a heart attack, an era of films and quality acting ended with Waheed Murad.

Dr. Ruth Pfau is a German doctor who came to Pakistan to eradicate leprosy in Pakistan. She is famously known as Pakistan’s Mother Teresa. When she was 29 years old, she came to Pakistan. After witnessing the plight of leprosy in Pakistan she decided to settle in Pakistan to work for humanity.

She treated heaps of patients of leprosy. The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the disease, also known as Hansen’s disease, to be under control in Pakistan in 1996, much earlier than other nations in Asia.

Though she was born in Germany her heart was always in Pakistan. She received many awards for her work including the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Nishan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, and Hilal-i-Pakistan. She devoted more than 55 years of her life working for Pakistan.

Dr. Ruth Pfau left this world on August 10, 2017. She was a symbol of selflessness and devotion. She was given a state funeral with full national honors.

Fatima Surraiya Bajjiya is a renowned novelist who made Pakistan proud worldwide with her work. She was born in Hyderabad on 1st September 1930. Her family migrated to Pakistan in 1948 where he lived then. She has many pieces to her credit including Zeenat, Aagahi, Aroosa and Afshaan. She also wrote programmes for children as well as did some historical work. Google honoured her on her birthday with a doodle which showed her in her classic look wearing a saari while she is writing surrounded by books:

She is a recipient of numerous awards including Hilal e Imtiaz as well as Pride Of Performance. She breathed her last on 10th February 2106 but her work will always be remembered and will remain alive!

This is the day Pakistan got their “Queen of Pop”, Nazia Hassan a legend who is still one of the top and the most loved female singer which Pakistan produced. Today is Nazia’s 53rd birthday and Google honoured her with a doodle.

Nazia was also a lawyer and social activist and one of the most celebrated artists in the 80s. She left this mortal world at a very young age due to lung cancer.

Nazia began her career just at the age of 10 and gave us a lot of hits including Dil Ki Lagi, Disco Deewane and Dosti. She also sang for Bollywood and won a Filmfare for her first song Aap Jaisa Koi at a meagre age of 15.

Though Nazia is not with us anymore but she will always remain a huge part of her fans’ hearts!

It was the 91st birthday of none other than Shehanshah e Ghazal Mehdi Hassan Khan Sahab. Google gave tribute to the legend through a doodle. The doodle featured Khan Sahab in his iconic singing pose while wearing a dark waistcoat over a creamy shalwar kameez.

Born on 18th July 1927, Mehdi Hassan went to become one of the most loved and revered singers of all times. He sang nearly 5000 songs including countless playbacks for films. The singer died on 12th June 2012 after suffering from lung disease for many years. He also suffered Stroke two times and breathed his last at Agha Khan University Hospital, Karachi.

Mehdi Hassan is the recipient of many accolades including Pride of Performance, Tamgha e Imtiaz, Hilal e Imtiaz and Nishan e Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.

Google remembered and honoured Khan Sahab on his birthday. Before this, Google has also given tributes to Nazia Hassan, Noor Jehan and Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Syed Sadequain Ahmed Naqvi also known as Sadequain Naqash is a world-renowned Pakistani artist and calligrapher. He is considered as one of the best painters and calligrapher. He was born in Amroha, India on 30th June 1930 which marks his 87th birthday today. Google marked his birthday with a doodle and here is what it looks like.

This is a big honour and point to ponder is Sadequain Sahab is still bringing honour to his country even if he is no more. We as a nation should remember our legends and must tell how great they were to our coming generations. Sadequain is definitely an inspiration to the aspiring artists. The end note should be nothing other than the legend’s piece of art.

Since we all belong to Pakistan we know how much people await for the “Good News” as soon as a couple gets married. Everyone wants to know about the arrival of the baby even though it isn’t much ethical to ask this question from a couple but still, it is one of the most famous rituals of our society. Like everyone else, this question is often asked to celebrity couples as well. Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain have been married for a year and have not planned their family yet.

In a recent show Timeout With Ahsan Khan, Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain were invited as guests. Ahsan Khan asked the most archetypal question that when will we be hearing the “Good News”? Iqra replied: “We have to ask this question to Allah. But if your prayers are with us then why not?

It is said all is well that ends well, Humaira Arshad has settled her dispute with her husband. Previously Humaira had decided to part her ways because she was being physically and emotionally abused by her husband. She also shared that her husband Ahmed Ali Butt has threatened her and also tried to kidnap her son. The couple was having an intense legal battle over the custody of there only child.

According to sources soon Ahmed will be withdrawing from the child custody case  and will be staying with his wife Humaira as he has given an unconditional apology. Humaira has accepted her husbands apology and has decided to reunite.

Previously Humaira decided to take a divorce and therefore was living with her mother from the last two months. But as the couple has decided to live together and save the family from being a broken family, now the legal formalities and religious requirements in this regard would soon be completed.

Syra Shahroz started her career as a VJ, she made her first TV appearance in a drama with the play Mera Naseeb which was a huge success. After that Syra was seen in many dramas, some of them were successful and some others were not but Syra always gathered a great deal of love from her fans. It will also mark the debut of Mansha Pasha another young actress who is really liked by the viewers in film.

Behroze Sabzwari, Shamim Hilali, Faris Khalid and Zhalay Sarhadi will play supporting roles in the film. While talking to the media the young actress said,

“I kept getting scripts that I would like but something or the other about it wouldn’t sit right. This one just clicked because it’s not just revolving around one thing; it’ll shed light on love, friendship, family values.”

She also revealed something about her character apart from the main plot of the film. She said,

“I’ll be playing the role of Resham, who’s a doctor by profession. People have these preconceived notions about doctors being serious or very stuck in their ways but she’s not like that. She’s very fun-loving and adventurous and the story is about her and her friends taking a trip up North.”

According to the news Mansha Pasha will be playing the role of a strong-willed girl in the film. The film will be a romantic comedy which will focus on self-discovery. The producer of the film Beenish Umer guarantees,

“The movie won’t follow typical formulas that have developed by taking too much inspiration from Bollywood. Instead, it’s a film that will highlight Pakistani values.”

Mahira Khan has made her way up in the film industry with a hit film Bin Roye to her credit and her next film “Ho Mann Jahan” will be released in a few months too. That fact that Mahira Khan is playing the lead with Shah Rukh Khan in her first Bollywood venture also goes to show how well-loved she is across the border. Mahira has always been very selective about the dramas she works in. Although she has a huge fan following but we do not see her on TV screens very often.

Now that Mahira Khan has a booming film career ahead of her, her fans are not so sure whether the diva will be seen once again on television. While talking to Khaleej Times Mahira Khan made it very clear that she was not going to leave television altogether. Talking about what her plans were regarding working on television Mahira said, “If a really good script comes along, something that excites me I would definitely go ahead and do it. Television has given me a lot of love and I have a lot of respect for that medium, but at the same time I would like to be involved in a project that offers a challenge or something novel.”

While talking about the film, Mahira said, “I’ve given this film my blood, sweat and tears. We often joke that this film is a Titanic, a Mughal e Azam; we’ve been making it forever.”

Mahira Khan has also signed Asim Raza’s film which is still untitled. The rehearsals for it have started but Mahira did not give any details about the project. The film also has Shehryar Munawar in the cast. Mahira refused Shaan’s offer to work in his film because she wanted to do this film with Asim Raza.

Saba Qamar is a brilliant actress who has worked with almost all the phenomenal actors. Fawad Khan is another big name of Pakistani media industry who is loved by his fans for his acting skills and looks. Fans love both the actors and want to see them together in a project. They want the beautiful Baghi actress to pair up with the handsome Fawad Khan. The duo hasn’t done any drama serial together as an on-screen couple. A few of the fans also think that Saba Qamar hasn’t ever appeared with the Humsafar actor. PTV remains my favourite channel for a reason. They had diversity and their dramas weren’t copies of others. They explored genres and provided something for everyone to watch.

One of my favourite dramas is a crime show named “Angels”. It aired several years ago on PTV . The show was really interesting and kept me glued to the screen.  The cases were deep and the show was definitely written well.

So there is good news for all of you. The trio of Sophia, Sami and Huma is back on Sundays at 8:00 pm.

Tamkinat shared a snapshot from the show and wrote,”Morning show on ARY digital right now, where elite privileged women are getting live pedicures on tv, while discussing how disgusted they were by their body hair as teenagers”

Fans and social media users agreed with Tamkenat. They also expressed their disgust and criticized all the celebrities. A social media user wrote, “it is looking so bad to see these ladies while having manicures and pedicures on the national TV”, they called it a bad content”. They also didn’t like to see the salon staff on the TV. Social media users said that they are discussing far bigger issues than Palestine, poverty, inflation, expensive education, electricity and gas bills. Netizens felt sorry for the staff of the salon who was being shown on TV while providing services. The social media users said that those girls are the real hardworkers and needs to be respected. The role of Alangoya or Almıla Hatun was played by Gonul Nagiyeva in the popular Turkish TV series “Dirilis: Ertugrul”.

The actress portrayed a Mangol warrior and the sister of Noyan in the fourth season of the TV series which is being aired on Pakistan’s state-run TV on the directives of the prime minister.

t was thrilling for Konul to get to play Alangoya, the fierce Mongolian warrior scheming in opposition to the righteous Ertugrul. She didn’t know that two years later, lengthy after Alangoya had been punished for her evil scheming and Dirilis: Ertugrul had wrapped up altogether, the character she performed would as soon as once more get seen, this time in Pakistan.

“My agent called me and asked me if I knew that people were searching my name in Pakistan,” Konul recounts.

Does Konul, additionally, hope to go to Pakistan sometime?

“I would love to,” she says. “Earlier, my knowledge of Pakistan was restricted to what I knew from Wikipedia; that Pakistan and Azerbaijan supported each other, the capital was Islamabad and the languages spoken were Urdu and English. Now, however, I want to know so much more about this country.”

She continues, “I also want to thank the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan for the support that he has been extending to my country Azerbaijan. I am generally someone who doesn’t pay attention to politics but the ongoing war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is very painful and I am hoping that we get justice soon. I am not someone who likes war but there are times when there is so much injustice that there can’t be any peace.”

Drawing comparisons between herself and Alangoya, she elaborates, “I was about seven or eight when the first war started over Nagorno-Karabakh. My father and grandfather were both military men and I remember constantly waiting for my father and wondering if he would return back home or not, whether he was alive or dead? Ever since then, I have hated waiting.”

“At that young age, I hated how the Armenians were massacring my people. But we can either to choose live in a state of war or to make peace and I have always preferred to be peaceful. Alangoya, on the other hand, chose war. I don’t know what her childhood was like. This transition from the way I am to the arcs that define my character was very interesting for me.”

However did she take pleasure in taking part in an outright villainous character like Alangoya? “Yes, I loved how bad she was!” Konul laughs. “There were so many shades to her and she truly believed in her mission.”

Recalling her favorite characters from the drama, Konul continues, “It would have to be Nolan because of how bad he was!” she grins, naming one other one among Ertugrul’s adversaries.

“Among the good characters, of course Engin was amazing as Ertugrul. Also, Esra as Halime is exceptional. She is a very beautiful girl and when she was Halime, I could almost feel as if I could see the truth in her eyes.”

How did she find yourself appearing in Ertugrul? “I auditioned and my manager called me that I had been selected for the role but I just had two days to prepare for it,” says Konul.

“I used to be stunned however I knew that I may do it as a result of through the years, I’ve constructed my appearing repertoire by getting coaching in numerous abilities, like combating and horse-riding. It was an enormous honor to be chosen for such a serious challenge. Dirilis: Ertugrul was massively profitable in Turkey and had gotten excessive scores ever because the very first season.”

“Once I was on set, I had nothing to worry about. The team was extremely professional and all I had to do was act.”

Describing the colossal Ertugrul capturing space, she continues, “It was a huge set, with a lot of attention being given to details. We would shoot out in forests or an entire area would be created for a scene.”

“One of my favorite scenes is when Noyan comes back and the shamanic are dancing. I remember that on that particular day, I had been shooting a long scene in the forest and then, at night-fall, we started working on this dancing scene. All through the night till 5 a.m. we were dancing and trying to get the scene right. But no one complained because we all believed in the project and knew that we were creating something very artistic. When the final scene did come on screen, it was magical with all these Mongolian warriors praying to their gods and spirits.”

Did she ever anticipate Dirilis: Ertugrul to change into such a success outdoors of Turkey? “Actually, no, but I can understand why so many people love it,” smiles Konul. “In Muslim countries, people can connect with it on a religious and cultural level. Ertugrul is a hero unique to the Islamic religion and I think that people feel a love for him.”

“If I could meet the real Ertugrul, I would have so much to ask him. It’s because I feel a certain sense of ownership towards him,” she smiles.

The identical sense of possession is felt, all over the world, in direction of the present Dirilis: Ertugrul.

“It would be wonderful to visit a country where I have been given love and a show that I have worked in is being appreciated so much,” smiles Konul.

The state run broadcaster Pakistan Television is planning for its 50th Anniversary on 26th November. All stations of PTV will broadcast special programs on this dray. PTV started its transmission on 26th November 1964 from Lahore
