Google and Wikipedia seem to be authentic source of information but when google and Wikipedia show the wrong information, it becomes concerning for all of us. Relying solely on google can be dangerous for information seeking.

Few days ago Esra Bilgic was listed as the mother of actor and host Yasir Hussain.

Recently google listed Mahira Khan as Zara Noor Abbas’s mother. Yes, when we typed for Zara Noor Abbas mother, it showed the name of our Super Star Mahira Khan, which is extremely wrong .

Google and Wikipedia need to eradicate this random updating system so that the wrong information will not be posted by anyone.

Goodbye Ashk – Rest in Peace!

0

Goodbye Ashk – Rest in Peace!Let me start with summing up this final episode. There were lots of ashks in this final episode, everyone cried from Ajo to Major Mansoor. Ajo ko us ki Zebu mil gaye aur Rohail ko us ki Zebu mil gaye pur Madiha ka kiya ho ga:) Rohail has the answer “mein tu kabhi Madiha ka tha hi nahi”. In Madiha’s words, Zebu is Rohails dil and Madiha is like jism….okay I have to admit I totally did not get that! Even though Madiha explained it quite well. So, was this story about Ajo’s Zebu or Rohail’s Zebu? This finale focused as much on Ajjo as it did on Zebu and Rohail.

Enough crazy talk, let’s talk some sense now. Honestly speaking I completely gave up on Ashk a very long time ago but I could not help but watch a few minutes or so of every episode, hoping against hope that the story may change for the better. But Alas, it was not meant to be. There were a few other plays also in this season that were poorly scripted, badly edited and the acting left a lot to be desired for too  but Ashk had much more to its credit, we saw things and heard dialogues that left us baffled. Even in this last episode there were enough dil and jism dialogues to make you cringe. When Madiha summed up what Zebu’s biggest mistake was, I could not believe that she actually said that. It was just plain disgusting when she said “Us ka kasoor yeh hai keh us ne tumhei apne bedroom se nikaal ke mere bedroom tuk anay pe majboor kiya”…c’mon guys this is just not on. Did we ever think that we would get to listen to such lines in our dramas? And as if saying it once wasn’t enough, Madiha said it again just in case anyone missed it the first time!

When I sat down to watch this final episode, I had a very positive frame of mind because even the most disappointing of dramas sometimes have endings that make you relate to the happenings. But guess what I felt absolutely no happiness for any of the characters. For me this was the biggest flaw in Ashk, most of us found it impossible to feel any sympathy or love for any of the characters. No matter how many times Rohail called Zebu a bechari, I failed to feel for her. In the end when the two made up, I should have felt happy for them but the dialogues were so poor that I just breathed a sigh of relief that it was finally over! Zebu ki bhi yehi Sachai hai ke vo sirf Rohail ki hai but I can’t help but wonder Madiha ka kiya ho ga!

I am sorry if this review makes barely any sense but if you people watched this finale, you will know what I mean. Despite of all it’s flaws, Ashk will go down in history as one of those plays that was watched for no real reasons… except for Fawad Khan of course! Ashk gave us tons of “I can’t believe my eyes and ears” moments. There was hardly an episode of Ashk which did not have some “unbelievable” scenes to it’s credit. And yes there was a time when Ashk was the most talked about show also, for all the wrong reasons of course. Usually in the last review of any play we give credit to the team for putting on a great show. All I can say is that Fawad Khan, Mehreen Raheel and Seemi Raheel acted well. The writer of the play should keep our social values in mind next time he sits down to pen down a script and whoever was responsible for the editing should take half the responsibility. Goodbye Ashk…Rest in peace!

PTV remains my favourite channel for a reason. They had diversity and their dramas weren’t copies of others. They explored genres and provided something for everyone to watch.

One of my favourite dramas is a crime show named “Angels”. It aired several years ago on PTV . The show was really interesting and kept me glued to the screen.  The cases were deep and the show was definitely written well.

Good Morning Pakistan Shadi Week – Seriously!?!

Ohkay so, while doing some household chore, I needed a background noise, so I decided to tune to Good Morning Pakistan, as I was in a mood for some celebrity interview but the first thumbnail in the Good Morning Pakistan archive on Dramasonline caught my eye as it had an image of Nida Yasir & Noor Bukhari. I thought they both must be conducting a show together so let’s just give it a whirl & to add to my woes & to some laughter fits, I found out they were conducting a Shadi Week on Good Morning Pakistan, where every single day a celebrity couple was modelling for them & was getting re-married for the sake of the show. Well, I think I got lucky to laugh because the episode that I watched was dedicated to the Baraat Function & guess which celebrity was getting married in this show? It was Syed Jibran with his wife of 5 years Afifa!

Well, the episode began with Nida & Noor badmouthing people who attend weddings & have no manners, like this was something so new that I immediately left everything & wanted to hear their profound conversation on the subject (coughing sarcasm). Nida made faces while telling how people waste food & how they grab soft drinks as if they have never had any before, hmmmm, such a beautiful conversation to start your or anyone’s day with, hai na? What level of hosting I must say!

Nida then walked towards some ‘Thaal’ that she had prepared for some ‘Rasm’ but the Thaal here is not a thing to be rejoiced upon, what actually should be appreciated is the fact that Nida put a lot of emphasis on the fact that she conducted some ‘RESEARCH’ & found out about this beautiful Rasm that she was now going to ‘teach’ to all those viewers who were tuned to her show right now. The word research caught me off guard as I am sure this concept was something brand new to Nida because if she had an idea what the art of researching was, she would’ve conducted it before she interviewed the students that prepared Pakistan’s First Electric Formula Racing Car to save herself the shame of not knowing what a Formula Racing Car is by asking them stupid questions. I am sure by now a lot of you guys already know about this but if you don’t, don’t worry, I will be pasting the link of the write up in which I spoke about the not-so-intelligent incident. Well, in the beginning Nida & Noor took pride in the ratings & the positive feedback that they were getting, which forced me to nod my head in a state of pity for both these women who sounded so deluded!

Good Morning Pakistan Shadi Week - Seriously!?!

Since, Nida made so much of an emphasis on the word ‘research’ it compelled me to do some myself to find out how many words a woman speaks on a daily basis, so the answer that I got was 20,000. Well I am speaking about this for a reason but let me share the backstory which pushed me to do this ‘research’. When Nadia Khan came back from her 5 year break & was asked time & again about the reasons why she bid farewell to her show that was doing so well in terms of popularity, the first thing that Nadia said was that being a morning show host was taking a toll on her vocal chords & her doctor clearly told her that if she keeps this up, she will end up losing her voice. At first I actually thought that she was just giving excuses because the actual reason behind her leaving the show was her spat with Noor’s husband that cost her, her morning show but then Nadia played an old clip from her previous show & then spoke on the current show again to draw a comparison & yes, even I was astonished with the difference in her voice. Nadia put things into perspective by saying that her chords needed a break & she needed a therapy to recover.

So yes, now it’s time for me to make my point, since my ‘research’ told me that women on an average speak 20,000 words, for Nida ever since she has started hosting Good Morning Pakistan; this number must be around 500,000 I believe (read I am sure). So, now if you listen to her, you can clearly see her voice giving up on her where she now sounds husky & manly, exactly the symptoms that Nadia described & later proved by showing her old footage. I think this will be my public service message to Nida that she either needs to calm her chords down or needs to make an appointment with the doctor ASAP because she has literally ruined her voice & her incessant yelling & screaming like an infant doesn’t help her either. Giving up on morning show would be an ideal situation but I know this is something that will never happen since Nida intends to celebrate her Silver or Golden Jubilee of her wedding on Good Morning Pakistan so yes, even if she doesn’t want to leave hosting, the best she can do is fix her voice up as she doesn’t sound appeasing to the ears & God Bless all those whose brain cells get damaged (me included) every time she screams “OOOOKAYYYYYYYYYY”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Pakistan Shadi Week - Seriously!?!

Anyways, let’s move forward to the actual Baraat celebration, which started off by ladies adorned in extremely heavy but completely sponsored joras making it to the stage riding motor bikes hahahah! Jibran as a Dulha made an entry in a red convertible BMW with ‘Dhoom Macha Le’ song playing in the background. I think Nida is doing Dhoom franchise a favor where she is giving free ideas to the producers of Dhoom Series that if they ever feel like making Dhoom – Shadi Edition, this is how the hero or the villain can make an entry with their ladyloves, adorned from head to toe, sitting behind them looking like useless mannequins, like how all these ladies looked on those bikes. Also, God Bless the guy who rode the bike that Ambar Khan was sitting at as it’s not easy giving a bike ride to a woman your mother’s age, haddi wadi toot jati to us becharay pe blame aa jata but fortunately, he had a lot of control so well done boy! Anyways, If I am not mistaken, ARY takes pride in their ‘Made In Pakistan’ & ‘Pakistani Tujhe Salam’ slogans, so not sure why this entire show was echoing with Bollywood songs. Anyways, later Jibran’s wife made an entry on a Doli which Nida promised will move itself but I spotted 2 guys pushing it LOOOOL! I can’t stop laughing!

Good Morning Pakistan Shadi Week - Seriously!?!

I won’t comment on Jibran’s wife Afifa because she’s a very sweet girl who seemed genuinely happy plus she has nothing to do with the industry so it’s ohkay. Afifa only had to attend this fiasco because she happens to be Jibran’s wife but yes, I will say that Jibran, I expected better from you. I think Jibran gave Nida a huge favor since the point was also made how Jibran & Yasir Nawaz are best friends so this turned out to be their milli bhaggat where I am sure Jibran wouldn’t have been able to refuse his clingy Nida Bhabhi! I must say Afifa looked absolutely gorgeous but too bad she was at Nida’s show because the moment she started speaking in English that too in her British accent, she got snubbed by Nida thrice since I am sure Nida’s brain cells weren’t in a condition to translate what Afifa was saying to her & very conveniently she used the audience as an excuse to convince Afifa to speak in Urdu, once again showcasing how ill-mannered she is.

Good Morning Pakistan Shadi Week - Seriously!?!

Well the show progressed with a game segment where Afifa & Jibran had to make some promises to each other. I think more than that segment, what I found interesting & ridiculously amusing was Noman Javaid’s input in the whole scenario, where he reminded me of those uncles at the weddings who keep on cracking jokes & keep on laughing at those jokes themselves because no one else bothers paying attention to what they are saying. LOL! Like it was good seeing Noman Javaid keeping himself entertained with his punch-less jokes, but I must appreciate his enthusiasm because even after getting ignored for may be a thousand times, he didn’t give up. That my friend is the spirit to be on a morning show!

The show didn’t stop there, it had some performances too but by this time my ears were in severe pain so I had to forward them but the glimpse that I caught of Sana Fakhar’s performance on ‘Dhol Bajay’ was enough to tell me that she was not only having a hard time in carrying herself on her two delicate feet, she also was having an issue controlling the dress that she was wearing because after a certain point, she was ungracefully all over the stage, lol! The second performance was done by Natasha & Arbaz Khan & I didn’t bother watching it.

Apart from Ambar, Kiran & Binita (since they make a living out of these morning shows) I found all the other celebrities redefining the proverb ‘begaani shaadi mai Abdullah deewana’. However, there were a few celebrities who conducted themselves very gracefully like Tipu Sharif, Humera Arshad & Fizza Ali because after a certain point they all seemed aloof to their surroundings as if they only attended this ‘wedding’ as a formality & weren’t interested much in what was happening around them & most importantly why! Well, by the time Nida announced that all the actors will have to cry in a funny way to make Rukhsati ‘light-hearted’, I gave up because this is not a joke, I felt mentally tired & I went for a nap to recover my brain cells from the scrutiny they were put through!

So, while watching this show, even though I had a good time because I was laughing at the circus that was happening in front of me, I was wondering about the message that they were giving to the audience. There were times when Nida made an emphasis on the ‘rasms’ & the ‘tips’ of a happy married life that she was ‘teaching’ to her viewers but on a bigger scale, what else did she teach? Are they so dumb to not know that by glorifying these types of lavish weddings, they are setting a wrong precedent? What are they showing to their impressionable audience that this is how weddings should be? With marriages being difficult these days because of their affordability & the cost that they come with, in stead of teaching people how they can cut the costs, these shallow-minded, dim-witted show hosts & their teams come up with these Shadi weeks to promote the idea of big fat weddings as if those who won’t have these kinds of weddings, won’t have prosperity in their sacred union?

Seriously starting from their hair-dyes to the nail polishes on their toes, to these sets to their dresses, their makeups & their jewelry, every single thing is sponsored so what are they trying to tell to the audience that this is the standard & they have to follow it even if they can’t afford it? These show hosts should know better that even if their dresses are sponsored, the people who are watching them will have to buy them with their hard-earned money so what kind of vicious circle are they initiating? Why is it that in so many years, I have never come across one such show where Nida or her team had done some ‘RESEARCH’ to help people wisely budget their weddings & cut the unnecessary costs that put a burden on those who are arranging weddings for their family members? Like while watching this 1 hour show (which I covered in less than 30 minutes), all I could think of was what a waste of time & resources this show was. While watching this show, I was just looking forward to one intelligent or important piece of advice that all those celebrities present at the show might give to the audience but the ratio of stupidity to intelligence was 100:0. Seriously, where marriages have become so difficult for regular people because of all these societal standards & norms, the media should take responsibility in teaching people better in stead of glorifying these standards for everyone to follow & in stead of conducting these Shadi weeks to kill their severe boredom!

Shame on them I swear!

Nida Yasir Claiming Credit For Reviewit’s Work

In her latest show with Tamasha contestants, Nida Yasir had Wajeeha Khan as her guest and she ended up claiming credit for finding similarity between Wajeeha Khan and Aisha Khan’s looks, something fans had already pointed out and publications wrote on.

Furthermore she plagiarized Reviewit’s collages without any credit for the work. As Nida said that she found the resemblance then either her or her team is plagiarizing content from publications and not putting in their own effort. This is a point to ponder on for such a big show. And this is not the first time that Nida Yasir’s team has taken content from reviewit without giving any credit.

The newly married couple is being given warm welcome by the media industry. Previously the couple was invited by Farah Shah on the morning show and now Nida Yasir invited the couple on her morning show Good Morning Pakistan. Nauman Javaid in her grey shalwar kameez and Jaana Malick in her light green jorra looked very nice together.

Nida made the couple do some traditional Rasmain on her show and the couple thoroughly enjoyed being the part of the show.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

0

In a lot of dramas, for the story to progress, a character has to die. In some cases, the characters die in the end, giving the viewers a definitive closure to that character’s life and journey, and in others, they die in the middle or beginning of the story for it to continue. In recent years, Pakistani drama viewers have come across a lot of such good characters who died a tragic death and unfortunately, almost all of them were the good and doting husbands that the viewers fell in love with.

Pakistani drama writers try to show realities of life through dramas, therefore death is one such reality which can not be escaped, this is why they try to include them in their stories in order to show what goes on in the lives of those who are related to the characters that passed away. It is always sad for the viewers to see their favorite characters dying and in a lot of dramas, usually, it is the good husbands who passed away leaving their wives alone at the mercy of the cruel world. This also forces the viewers to say that these deaths could’ve been skipped because they are so attached to these characters that they do not appreciate seeing such a tragic end to their favorite characters. This aspect of any drama or story is always very heartbreaking for the viewers.

Here’s a list of all those good husbands that passed away in Pakistani dramas, leaving viewers heartbroken:

Danish (Mere Pass Tum Ho)

Danish’s character met a tragic end and as much as that seemed to be the only plausible end for him, the viewers still hoped to see Danish recovering from the heart-break, moving on in his life and getting married to Ms. Hania, finding that happiness which he well and truly deserved. The fact that his wife’s betrayal made his heartache also made the viewers sympathize with him more because he depicted the kind of love that the viewers had not seen in a long time. For Danish, his entire world was Mehwish and when she left him in such a cruel manner, he could not survive despite trying hard for his only son.

Humayun Saeed gave this character the kind of treatment which made each and every emotion of Danish come through with a lot of clarity, making it hard not to feel for him. The death of Danish’s character definitely left viewers broken-hearted but they came to terms with it knowing that this was the only way for his pain to ease.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Junaid (Khudgarz)

Another brilliant character that passed away in Pakistani drama was of Junaid from Khudgarz. He was yet another character played by Syed Jibran that showed the love a husband had for his wife selflessly. Although Junaid and Aairah get married without even knowing each other but after their marriage, they fell in love so much that Junaid feels Aairah’s pains more than she does.

Their love story was short and sweet but it left a void in the viewer’s hearts because soon after his death, Aairah passes away, showing that she could not survive without her husband. All the things that Junaid does for her wife were a treat to see and their conversations were beautiful, which showed how much they respected each other. This death in the drama came out of nowhere and the viewers were left heartbroken.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Fakhir (Khaas)

This was one such death that the viewers were not convinced of, especially when it was shown how hard Saba had to fight to be with him and what she actually went through when she was married to Ammar. Haroon Shahis gave a convincing performance in Khaas and made the viewers fall in love with the niceness that Fakhir’s character embodied. Fakhir gave Saba the confidence she yearned for, he treated her with respect and showed that she was capable of achieving all her goals and dreams.

Fakhir also always spoke about how Saba should move on in her life after his passing and eventually that’s what ended up happening. Although the writer made it all about Saba and how she was bravely living her life as a single mother because of the love Fakhir showered on her, the viewers still felt there was no need to end Fakhir’s character like that.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Saim (Meer Abru)

This was another beautiful character who was a doting husband and accepted his wife Abru against all odds and the conspiracies that were devised against her. Saim introduced Abru to the kind of love she had never known before. He showed her how respectful she was in his eyes, because of which he earned a place in her heart and overlapped the love she used to have for Meer.

Saim also left it on Abru to choose who she wanted to get married to and never once forced her to accept her love. This is the reason when his character passed away, the viewers too felt sad and grievous. He was yet another good husband that passed away in Pakistani drama. Mirza Zain Baig played the role of Saim beautifully.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Hamza (Aisi Hai Tanhai)

Although Hamza got married to the elder sister of his lady love Pakeeza, he ended up being a dutiful husband who patiently put up with whatever Kinza directed at him because he was seeking redemption and he was sorry for the mistakes he had committed. Hamza’s character showcased the struggles of a person who is guilt-stricken and can not undo the harm that was caused to the woman he loved.

His character too died a tragic death and although viewers wanted to see him and Pakeeza together, the writer had a bigger picture to project because for that to happen, Hamza’s need to divorce Kinza and it would’ve been unfair to her because Kinza too developed feelings for him seeing his niceness. Another dutiful husband who passed away and to date, this remains one of the strongest performances of Sami Khan.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Armaan (Hasad)

Armaan was yet another character that died too soon leaving his young and pregnant wife Naintara alone. Armaan was shown to be a husband who was madly in love with his wife and wanted to do everything to make her happy. Usually, viewers never get to see such husbands on screen, this is the reason his death left them sad and heart-broken.

The mistreatment Naintara was put through after his passing was heart-wrenching. Armaan’s character was short-lived but was enough to be remembered for the niceness he showcased as a husband. Shehroz Sabzwari gave a brilliant performance in Hasad but sadly it didn’t last long.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Razi (Dil Ruba)

In Dil Ruba, Razi was excited that he got married to Sanam at the spur of the moment. He immediately fell in love with his wife and had all the traits of being a dutiful husband to her. This is the reason when Sanam’s past mistakes crept their way into their marital life, instead of holding Sanam accountable, Razi decided to put it all behind them and move on because he had the decency in him to give Sanam a chance and believe her promises.

It was unfortunate that Razi too died a tragic death and what made the death of this character even more daunting was that he was unhappy and upset at the things he found out about his wife just before meeting the accident. Another beautiful character that passed away leaving the viewers heart-broken.

Good Husbands That Passed Away In Pakistani Dramas

Which of these characters passing away made you sad? It is interesting to note that all those husbands who are good to their wives end up dying in Pakistani dramas? What is your opinion on this, feel free to share in the comment section below.

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

The role of Alangoya or Almıla Hatun was played by Gonul Nagiyeva in the popular Turkish TV series “Dirilis: Ertugrul”.

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

The actress portrayed a Mangol warrior and the sister of Noyan in the fourth season of the TV series which is being aired on Pakistan’s state-run TV on the directives of the prime minister.

t was thrilling for Konul to get to play Alangoya, the fierce Mongolian warrior scheming in opposition to the righteous Ertugrul. She didn’t know that two years later, lengthy after Alangoya had been punished for her evil scheming and Dirilis: Ertugrul had wrapped up altogether, the character she performed would as soon as once more get seen, this time in Pakistan.

“My agent called me and asked me if I knew that people were searching my name in Pakistan,” Konul recounts.

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“I used to be stunned. Why would they be looking my identify there? Then, I used to be advised that it was as a result of they have been all fascinated with the Dirilis: Ertugrul sequence.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“I have never been very active on social media and even then, so many Pakistanis have been taking out the time to write their comments to me, on Instagram,” Konul reveals. “I can solely think about the best way the opposite actors, who performed the principle leads in Ertugrul and are energetic on Instagram, have to be experiencing their newfound Pakistani recognition.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

Does Konul, additionally, hope to go to Pakistan sometime?

“I would love to,” she says. “Earlier, my knowledge of Pakistan was restricted to what I knew from Wikipedia; that Pakistan and Azerbaijan supported each other, the capital was Islamabad and the languages spoken were Urdu and English. Now, however, I want to know so much more about this country.”

She continues, “I also want to thank the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan for the support that he has been extending to my country Azerbaijan. I am generally someone who doesn’t pay attention to politics but the ongoing war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is very painful and I am hoping that we get justice soon. I am not someone who likes war but there are times when there is so much injustice that there can’t be any peace.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

Drawing comparisons between herself and Alangoya, she elaborates, “I was about seven or eight when the first war started over Nagorno-Karabakh. My father and grandfather were both military men and I remember constantly waiting for my father and wondering if he would return back home or not, whether he was alive or dead? Ever since then, I have hated waiting.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“At that young age, I hated how the Armenians were massacring my people. But we can either to choose live in a state of war or to make peace and I have always preferred to be peaceful. Alangoya, on the other hand, chose war. I don’t know what her childhood was like. This transition from the way I am to the arcs that define my character was very interesting for me.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

However did she take pleasure in taking part in an outright villainous character like Alangoya? “Yes, I loved how bad she was!” Konul laughs. “There were so many shades to her and she truly believed in her mission.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

Recalling her favorite characters from the drama, Konul continues, “It would have to be Nolan because of how bad he was!” she grins, naming one other one among Ertugrul’s adversaries.

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“Among the good characters, of course Engin was amazing as Ertugrul. Also, Esra as Halime is exceptional. She is a very beautiful girl and when she was Halime, I could almost feel as if I could see the truth in her eyes.”

How did she find yourself appearing in Ertugrul? “I auditioned and my manager called me that I had been selected for the role but I just had two days to prepare for it,” says Konul.

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“I used to be stunned however I knew that I may do it as a result of through the years, I’ve constructed my appearing repertoire by getting coaching in numerous abilities, like combating and horse-riding. It was an enormous honor to be chosen for such a serious challenge. Dirilis: Ertugrul was massively profitable in Turkey and had gotten excessive scores ever because the very first season.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“Once I was on set, I had nothing to worry about. The team was extremely professional and all I had to do was act.”

Describing the colossal Ertugrul capturing space, she continues, “It was a huge set, with a lot of attention being given to details. We would shoot out in forests or an entire area would be created for a scene.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“One of my favorite scenes is when Noyan comes back and the shamanic are dancing. I remember that on that particular day, I had been shooting a long scene in the forest and then, at night-fall, we started working on this dancing scene. All through the night till 5 a.m. we were dancing and trying to get the scene right. But no one complained because we all believed in the project and knew that we were creating something very artistic. When the final scene did come on screen, it was magical with all these Mongolian warriors praying to their gods and spirits.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

Did she ever anticipate Dirilis: Ertugrul to change into such a success outdoors of Turkey? “Actually, no, but I can understand why so many people love it,” smiles Konul. “In Muslim countries, people can connect with it on a religious and cultural level. Ertugrul is a hero unique to the Islamic religion and I think that people feel a love for him.”

Gönül Nagiyeva Who Played Noyan Sister In Diriliş: Ertuğrul Commented On Her Character

“If I could meet the real Ertugrul, I would have so much to ask him. It’s because I feel a certain sense of ownership towards him,” she smiles.

The identical sense of possession is felt, all over the world, in direction of the present Dirilis: Ertugrul.

“It would be wonderful to visit a country where I have been given love and a show that I have worked in is being appreciated so much,” smiles Konul.

Golden Oldies

Whilst the vast majority of our dramas focus on young couples and their issues, we cannot ignore the impact of the remaining cast. Some of them leave their mark on the wall even with limited screen-time. Over the years, I’ve seen many character actors- veterans of our industry, who have charmed us with their personalities, eloquent dialogue delivery and overall warmth. Here is a rundown of some of my favorite older couples:

  • Mehboob Ahmed and Jahan Ara Begum in Aangan Terah– Shakeel and Bushra Ansari are two of the most seasoned actors of television. Aangan Terah was essentially their story- these two were always at loggerheads yet they shared amazing on-screen chemistry and were memorable in their respective roles.

at

  • Mutmain Sahab and Nusrat in Coke Kahani– Syed Mohammed Ahmed is hands down one of my favorite actors and for me, this was one of his best roles. Mutmain and Nusrat were constantly taunting each other and their expressions were priceless. They were my reason for watching Coke Kahaani.

ck

  • Molvi SubhanAllah and Ruqaiyya in Pyaare Afzal– I’ve never been in awe of an actor as much as I have been of Firdous Jamal in the role of Molvi Saheb. He is the epitome of pure joy! Saba Hameed is loveable as his beloved Ruqaiyya and compliments him well.

pa

  • Iqrar and Samiya in Zindagi Tere Bina– Mashood Alvi and Samiya Mumtaz shared unparalleled chemistry but the serial was a huge disappointment. I watched the first few episodes but once Iqrar died, I couldn’t watch further.

ztb

  • Yumna and Kamaal in Ranjish Hi Sahi– Much like Zindagi Tere Bina, I lost interest when one of the leads passed away- in this case, Yumna. For the limited time that they were there, Faisal Rehman and Samiya Mumtaz were flawless together. Too bad they didn’t stick around till the end.

rhs

  • Mujju’s Chacha and Chachi in Kuch Pyaar Ka Pagalpan Bhi Tha– Naeem Tahir and Laila Zuberi were delightful as the overseas Pakistani stereotypes. KPKPBT had its highs and lows but most of the scenes involving these two were a treat.

kpkp

  • Ghazanfar and Firdous in Bari Apa– These two were exact opposites but as they say- opposites attract. I loved this on-screen couple and while Ghazanfar was the voice of sensibility, Firdous was the feisty trouble-maker who provided a good laugh.

ba

  • Junaid and Ghazala in Zindagi Gulzar Hai– Although their marriage wasn’t perfect, as a couple, these two blended really well. Post Kashaf and Zaroon’s wedding, Ghazala was seen as a changed woman and her relationship with her husband improved.

Who are your picks for this category? Do you have any more in mind?

Yours in watching,

Kanwal Murtaza

Golden Old Time and What We Expect!

Without any doubt, we have exceptional actors who are so talented that they delve deeply into their characters and portray them in the most accurate way .A power pack performance is the genuine description for it .I think nobody would deny this , that Pakistani actors are extremely skillful. I would not like to mention them because it would be unfair if someone is left behind. So I give you a chance to list them according to your opinion.

~Script and dialogue delivery

Moving a step further and let’s jump into the realm of spot on reactions with powerful words that express their character’s true feelings.

Script and dialogue delivery has been one of the most crucial and important aspect of the success of the drama. Powerful characters , reacting to harsh circumstances made the drama worth watching and appreciating; From strong Kashaf to the innocent Bano , all contributed to the success of this industry. (Even the recent dramas especially MNYH, DeD, Mol are top-notch and there are many more it’s a long list).

~Mesmerizing OSTs

This perfect picture needs some mesmerizing music, the OST’s are wonderful and they hit your heart with such bang that you are left in awe. Completely lost in their lyrics. One just flows with the music and lyrics seems to be your heart’s true feelings.

Diyar e Dil OST – Diyar-e-Dil

Aasmaonan Se Utara Noor- Dastaan

Wo Humsafar Tha- Humsafar

Zindagi Gulzar hai- ZGH

Yaar Ko Humnay Jabajah Dekha-Shehrezaat

Hum Sadqe Tmhare- ST

Zulekha Bina Yousuf-MNYH

And many more…..

It was the positive side of this picture and now let’s move on to the other part.

~Darker side of the picture

There is always a darker side of the picture and that too is pointed out in many articles and drama reviews, such pathetic content and extremely painful direction bore hatred in viewer’s hearts and I would not talk much about it “Chup Rho “is the best answer.  On a serious note, it was all about this negative portrayal of societal issues which made me think why not we delve into history!

Lessons from the Golden Era of Dramas

Imagine yourself when you were in school back then as a student, studying Pak-Studies and your teacher stumbled upon this notion that “Nations have to learn lessons from their history to rise again”

So let’s get started…Few Masterpieces of the past are mentioned below

~Spirituality Based Dramas

1Ajaib Khaana -written by Noor-ul-Huda Shah, directed and produced by Iqbal Ansari. Starring Nabeel, Mishi khan, Badar khalil and many more.

So it was a good drama aired on PTV, although I disagree on many aspects of it but it was a masterpiece of his time.

2– Wajood-e- Laraib – It is a Novel- Based drama of Umera Ahmed (huge fan)

Starring Adnan Siddique, Faisal Qureshi, Shafi Muhammad and many more; was a masterpiece and it lost the pace in the middle but it was really worth watching and how the different characters went through their miseries was very well directed.

3- Main Abdul-Qadir Hoon– It was written by Sarwat Nazir and directed by Babar Javed.

Starring Fahad Mustafa, Alishba yousuf, Faisal Qureshi, Aamina Sheikh, Asif Raza Mir and Saba Hameed.

Fahad Mustafa’s best serial I must say. Superb acting, mesmerizing OST and magnificent script and story .It’s worth watching and shows how a man transforms from being in love with Creator’s creation to the Creator himself!

4- Shehrezaat – It was a Novel Based drama written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Sarmad khoosat produced by Momina Duraid and Abdullah Kadwani.

Cast- Mahira khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Muhib Mirza, Mansha Pasha, Sameena peerzda and Hina Bayat.

Although not much recognized yet was a great and very emotional drama. It was a spiritual journey of Self- Realization.

5- Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan– Again Umera Ahmed’s novel based dramas are always a treat to watch.

Starring: Samiya Mumtaz, Samina Peerzada,Serwat Gilani, Faisal Qureshi and many more. Directed by Babar Javed and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Hamayun Saeed.

This drama portrayed the very serious issue of mocking your religion and bearing its consequences.

6- Aik Pal – Written by Sarwat Nazir and has been directed by Siraj-ul-haq.

Starring: Areej Fatima, Danish Taimoor, Sumbul Iqbal and Affan Waheed.

It was dragged and I disagree on few aspects of this drama but again it was pleasing to watch the transformation and it was a journey of finding tranquility.

Spirituality based dramas are food for soul but their content should be selected and written with immense wisdom and knowledge.

~  Dramas With Headstrong Women

“Say No to Roti Dhoti Heroines”

It’s actually more of a myth than a notion that working women most probably are categorized as strong; can’t manage to have a family life and this myth was crushed by the super duper extremely lovable drama “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”.

1- Zindagi Gulzar Hai – Written by Umera Ahmed, directed by Sultana Siddique and produced by Momina Duraid was a masterpiece indeed.

Starring: Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Samina Peerzada, Hina Bayat and many more.

A perfect answer from Kashaf through her struggle and hard work to all the chauvinists out there that women can manage both and are pretty good in this. This drama also depicts the fact that “Betay “are given more superiority than “Betiyan “but “Betiyan “rehmat k saath unka sahara bhi bansakti hain. Beautiful story and very well directed.

2- Main Bushra– Written by Sanam Mehdi, directed by Ahmed Bhatti and produced by Zeekay films.

Starring: Mawra Hocane,Faisal Qureshi, Affan Waheed,Waseem Abbas, SabaHameed,Saba Faisal and Shehryar Zaidi.

Bushra is not a very headstrong character, apart from rona dhona she actually makes it to this category and I liked bushra because she was strong enough to deal with the miseries of her life.

3- Kis se Kahoon– Written by Shaheed Nadeem and directed by Kashif Nisar. Main cast of the drama includes Sajal Ali, Yumna Zaidi, Agha Ali and Samina Ahmed.

This drama was inspirational, the way she fought without playing the role of a victim was the positive message they conveyed. A good step to create awareness among youth.

~Love stories

I mean they are so typical and predictable that they seem cheesy at times but sometimes we really need to have such light dramas for entertainment and there are so many dramas that revolve around love triangles, lost love and ultimately fall into the dusri biwi notion.

Disclaimer *** the overdose is not healthy ***

These were huge Dramas that created awareness of the societal issues and motivated the youngsters towards a more steady and right way of living and coping with their circumstances.

What We Expect:

1- The dramas should provide us “food for our souls “and motivate youngsters to relate themselves to religion and understand it.

2-We need “headstrong women “dealing with their problems and not surrendering to the bad circumstances .We truly need this aspect to be portrayed in our dramas.

3- It is the time to show people that how could they move on in their life and find a solution of their problems while relating to the sensible characters.

4- College life / university life sitcoms and dramas which should focus more on their career and their bright future could be a very smart step and a good change.

5- Dramas that could break the myths and create awareness among the people and provide them with true knowledge and make them realize that such myths have nothing to do with their luck.

6- Novel Based dramas are very good but pathetic direction and bad choices of actors for the appropriate roles would turn it into a disaster like Amar-Bail. So, Novel Based dramas are needed but with careful selection.

P.S This is solely based on my opinions of the dramas and you could share your list of favorite and inspirational dramas that you think were marvelous..!

Do share your views about it!
