Hamza Ali Abbasi is known to make a lot of controversial tweets or facebook posts. He is very actively involved in the politics of Pakistan and openly supports the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Imran Khan. And so how could he keep quiet on the Ayesha Gulalai case?

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is the pride of Pakistan. She’s the first Pakistani to win an oscar for Pakistan and has won various other awards on her documentaries based on the social issues in Pakistan.

She hasn’t had any beef with Mr.Hamza in the past but this time the words “woman card” made the actor get on her bad side. She tweeted this regarding Hamza’s post, which he had also posted on his twitter account:

Javed Miandad Asks PCB to Boycott India in all ICC events!

Javed Miandad, Pakistan’s legendary cricketer has called on the PCB to boycott against their arch-rivals, India, in all ICC events.

The veteran of 124 Tests, who also coached the national team thrice, said it was time Pakistan took a strong stance on cricket ties with India keeping in mind national interest and pride. This came in result to what India’s sports minister, Vijay Goel had announced earlier; no Pakistan sportspersons will be allowed to play in India or vice versa except for when it is at a neutral venue and at a multilateral tournament, such as the ICC Champions Trophy.

The former team captain said,

It is time we responded with bricks to stones. There is no need for us to play with India at any forum if they are not willing to restore bilateral ties. We should also boycott playing against them in all ICC events.

Miandad believed that boycotting India at all events will affect the ICC’s financials greatly as one of the biggest games are the matches between India and Pakistan. According to him, this would eventually lead to a better treatment of Pakistan on this particular issue.

I think when we don’t play India in ICC events and the ICC suffers financial losses and their events lose significance and colour, only then we will be treated with respect and we will be heard on a equal level at any forum.

What do you think of Miandad’s statements? Do you support him in this boycott or are you against him?

Ghairat Episode 3 Review – Convincing Developments

Tonight’s episode of Ghairat covered the aftermath of the tragic development in the previous episode and it did so quite logically. All the developments in tonight’s episode were convincing. Saba’s frame of mind in particular was translated on screen superbly. She was fearful for her life and knew that only Zohaib could rescue her. Usman killed Iqra while her mother was present there, she could not do anything to stop him therefore Saba knows that she is not safe in the house even with her brothers locked away since they can return at any given time considering the fact that her mother is not in her senses and rest of the family is more than willing to cover up for Usman. The shock and horror on the faces of Saba and her mother when they saw what had happened and when Usman announced it was an accident made this scene come to life.

Junaid’s fears immediately after he let Usman and Adnan take Iqra were shown through the conversation he had with Jamal. This was another discussion which was realistic and to the point. Watching Usman act so normal after killing his own sister was seriously disturbing but it was a true depiction of the mindset behind such crimes. These people are so sure that there was absolutely nothing wrong with what they did and they do not even have a conscience. It was almost as if Usman felt more in control now and had gained more confidence after killing his sister. The way he told Zohaib to take his family away and that he wanted no ties with them went to show that he felt more entitled than ever to make these decisions and force them on other people.

Ghairat Episode 3 Review - Convincing Developments

Zohaib’s reaction in particular demonstrated how a “normal” person would react to such an incident. He could not stand to be around these murderers who were acting like they did nothing wrong and when Saba wanted him to take her with him he did his best to stay with her even though everyone around him asked him to leave. Muneeb Butt and Iqra Aziz acted brilliantly in this episode as well. Iqra Aziz and Muneeb Butt also have great on-screen chemistry. In fact all the actors have been performing really well so far.

Adnan ultimately narrated the entire incident to Jamal and it remains to be seen what turn this track will take from here on since the real story will begin now. This is what I found most appealing about this drama, the honor killing takes place in the beginning therefore the main focus should be on the aftermath which I hope will have a good lesson and will be handled intelligently. The next episode showed Usman and Adnan coming back home; I am wondering how that will happen. Will Usman’s mother forgive him so that he can be out of jail?

So far, Ghairat has been an interesting play which keeps giving you a reason to tune into it every week. It has a solid story which is executed well and all the actors are doing complete justice to their characters as well. The pace of the play so far has been impressive too.

Celebs Who Were Not Lucky In Marriage!

0

Yes marriage is an institution on which families are built. In a profession such as acting people live in lime lights all the time and that put greater pressures on relationships for them as compared to normal couples. Luckily we have a lot of happy couples in the industry too like Fawad and Sadaf and Urwa Farhan but some couples were not lucky in this regard. Here are some stars whose marriages did not last long:

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 25 Review – Interesting Episode!

Ohkay so, it was quite an interesting episode of Yeh Raha Dil. I enjoyed it & this episode reminded me why I fell in love with this drama in the first place, because all the scenes had a purpose & there were so many conversations which were fun & had humor in them. It looks like they are heading towards the closure therefore all the loose ends have started getting tied, which is finally the kind of progress that I was waiting for!

So, it wasn’t only Hayat who on her own was trying to stop Fatima from going, but even attempts were being made by Affaq too, even he didn’t want Fatima to leave because he genuinely loves her. It was good that Hayat finally played the trump card & revealed the biggest secret in front of Fatima. While watching this entire scenario, I was actually liking Hayat’s involvement in this entire affair but then it reminded me that just last week I was feeling that Hayat’s nose-poking wasn’t making any sense, then it made me realize that when things are dragged, that’s what usually happens, where even those characters that you love & relate to just stop making sense to you. I still wish they hadn’t added so many episodes in this drama because the charm would’ve still stayed intact. I loved the little hug that Hayat & Fatima shared as a mother & daughter, I loved their conversations too. Fatima would’ve never thought that Hayat would end up becoming someone she’d confide in & she’d keep her secret hidden with her for the rest of her life.

Affaq & Fatima’s conversation was another highlight of the episode for me. It was so cute seeing two mature people admitting their mistakes, rekindling the love they had for each other & reminding themselves of all those smallest of details which made them fall in love with each other in the first place. Fatima did realize that Affaq didn’t want her to go & seeing Affaq remaining unaffected with Fatima’s affair was another positive aspect. Affaq was well aware of his own short-comings too & he knew that he wasn’t there for Fatima when she needed him the most, therefore he decided to undo all of his mistakes & gave this marriage another chance. It was interesting how Affaq thought it was only because of his efforts that Fatima decided to stay whereas he had no idea what a huge favor Hayat did for him & her step-mom!

Nida finally had a conversation with Zaki & told him that it wasn’t because of him that she wanted out of this marriage, but it was because of her own realizations & mistakes that she took this decision. I didn’t really understand Zaki’s hesitation & his stance, like now when things were shaping up, he was stopping Nida from doing the right thing. Yes, he isn’t selfish & him not jumping with joy at that very moment made sense too but still, he should’ve understood Nida in stead of stopping her from saying what she wanted to. Just when I was enjoying the entire episode & found it a strong one after a few weeks, there came Hassan as a reminder of the of the reason why this drama was dragged. I felt may be for the first time Hayat had this admiration for Hassan seeing his simplicity & decency. I am sure now Hayat would be at the brink of saying yes to Hassan just when Nida will tell her that she is backing out!

It was a good episode & I had a great time watching it. I really think they should end this drama now. The conversation between Jimmy & Affaq did suggest that may be our favorite DJ will make an appearance again on the wedding functions & if that’s the case, then I can’t wait for his performance already. Khalla, Bait ul Khalla & few other dialogues really made this episode interesting. I also loved how Fatima lost her cool while cussing her boyfriend & then immediately composed herself & came back in her element where she is always calm, collected & poised, lol. I loved Ayesha Sana in this episode, it was a treat to watch her & she really has given a lovely personality to Fatima’s character. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Using Patriotism For Sales!

Pakistanis are a passionate and emotional nation. We may see thousands of people around us who are always complaining about Pakistan. They would have issues with governance, load shedding, education system and what not and they will always be expressing their desire to flee from here but deep inside there is a patriotic creature sitting in everyone’s hearts. The fact is known by all and unfortunately is used by others to exploit us sometimes. Be it political parties with agendas like” Only democracy will save Pakistan and we are the democracy” to “Building a new Pakistan”, they use our love for our country to get gains for themselves. Same stands true for entertainment industry too.

Using Patriotism For Sales!

Our film industry unfortunately was shut down years ago and all the people related to it from cinema owners to spot boys suffered miserably. We sadly had to turn solely to entertainment provided by Bollywood movies and go through all the Dilwale type torture with good movies few and far in between. Then Waar came out in 2013 and things started changing for good. It was an army movie and made people cry and stand in the love of their country. But what seems is the upcoming film makers somehow misread the audience and linked Waar’s success to only the patriotism factor attached to it and ignored its strong script, top-notch direction and coordinated acting.

Using Patriotism For Sales!

Film makers in place of using the power of their of their films to attract audience started copying old formulas mostly from Bollywood movies but want the audience to come and watch it because it is a Pakistani film. Many films came out this year but none of them could impress the audience. Reason is simple they lacked strong stories and scripts. For example Chalay Thay Saath had a cute lead pair, scenic locations and pretty enjoyable music but the film didn’t make it to the hit list because it lacked the main thing which attracts the audience A STRONG STORY!!! Same goes for Balu Mahi.

Using Patriotism For Sales!

Yalghaar released on Eid ul Fitr was heavily promoted and was released in many countries. The film had a very strong cast too including Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddique, Bilal Ashraf and Ayesha Omer among others. But the film’s promotions lied mainly on it being publicized as the sequel of Waar and targeting the patriotic streak of people. The outcomes however are a big lesson for everyone that a film will not work merely on the factor that it awakens the patriotism in the audience with its trailers. Yalghaar despite of being an army based film with a high budget and famous cast couldn’t be saved because the makers didn’t stress on making the plot strong and giving the audience value for money.

The makers then start blaming the people who criticize them. Similar things came forward during the releases of Lahore Se Aagey and Mehrunisa V Lub U. Crass humour and item songs were the usp’s of both the movies. What they have to understand is you have to bring pretty content to get pretty comments. Why Na Maloom Afraad, Actor In Law and Main Hoon Shahid Afridi were not bashed left and right by the viewers. Yes they got their share of dislikes too. A film cannot impress everyone but the lack of story and strong acting will drive away the audience whatever the makers may do for promotions. Even the PAKISTANI FILM card will not save the film.

Summarising it I would like to say that just using the tag line WE NEED TO SUPPORT PAKISTAN FILM INDUSTRY will not help in the long run. Emotions do not sell films, Content does. And if all film makers will keep adding tootie frooties and billis in their films, also trying to awaken some kind of kaif o suroor type feelings in your audience (I know I sound like Hamza right now but he is actually right here) and at the same time calling audience to support films because it is Pakistani industry than it will never make sense to the audience, since audience is NOT dumb. Plus a single ticket costs between 500 to 600 rupees and why would anyone spend this much money on substandard content when other films would be present along side in cinemas. At last I would say that yes all Pakistanis should support the flourishing cinema but the industry also needs to work on their product to attract the audience rather than just keep using patriotism to have gains in their business.

What do you think of this trend of using patriotism for business gains? Share your thoughts!

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 6 Review – Superbly Executed

Tonight’s episode was brilliantly executed just like all the previous episodes of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hva. This drama shows how a skillful director can make every scene work. The scene in which Faris asks Dariya to call him in that particular manner before making coffee wasn’t an easy scene to direct but it was shot so beautifully. It showed Faris’ madness and also another failed attempt by him to try and “relive” what he missed about a phase of his life which was now officially over. It also showed Dariya’s feelings for Faris; she will do anything to make him feel better even if it means going along with a request which didn’t make a lot of sense. The difference between Maya and Dariya’s personality has been made quite obvious right from the beginning therefore it was easy connecting to this entire situation; there was a good reason why Faris thought Dariya could never shout like that! Mansha Pasha has been absolutely phenomenal as Dariya; she has managed to strike the perfect balance between softness and strength. Although Dariya is a polite girl but she has inner strengths which make her character likeable. Her character is not clichéd which is another reason why she is going to be a lot more than the girl who is madly in love with a man who will probably never fall in love with her. Sami Khan and Mansha Pasha’s on-screen chemistry makes their scenes a treat to watch. No matter how unusual the situation is, these two definitely make it convincing and worthwhile.

“Bus aik chota sa gunnah kiya tum ne, mujhe mohabba sikhai, mohabbat mei jeena sikhaya aur tarbiyat khatam hote hi keh diya ke tumhei mujh se mohabbat nahi rahi.”

Just like every other episode of TDKKH this one too had some phenomenal dialogues to its credit which were delivered faultlessly by some of the actors. Sami Khan has been absolutely perfect in this drama right from the get-go. His perfect portrayal of a character which isn’t easy to translate on screen has made Faris’ character one of the major reasons why I tune into this drama every week. I also love the way this character has been written. The way Faris is constantly trying to take control of a situation which is beyond his control makes you feel for his character and you actually understand why he keeps on making these bizarre decisions. Tonight, he finally decided to divorce Maya only after saying everything which had been disturbing him for all these days. He obviously thought that saying all of this was going to give him the closure he is desperately looking for subconsciously. It is however quite obvious that it will take Faris a lot of time to move on. I am looking forward to his journey because so far everything about his character has been very interesting. I am also waiting to find out more about Siraj uncle’s character especially after what Faris said about him when he was giving Maya his “verdict”. It also looks like there is a connection between Siraj Uncle and Saif.  I am pretty sure it was Siraj Uncle’s picture Saif was looking at when he said “tarpa tarpa ke maar dalu ga tumhein.”?

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 6 Review - Superbly Executed

Maya walked out of her house certain that Saif will welcome her with open arms but even when he told her she could not stay with her, she was very understanding just like all the other times when Saif convinced her to do things his way. Saif knows how to handle Maya therefore every time he wants her to do something in a different way he assures her that he loves her therefore he wants things done differently. Saif’s real intentions were shown clearly for the first time tonight. The scene covering Maya’s argument with her mother clearly showed that Saif was lying. It also showed just how blinded Maya was at this point, she believed Saif more than her mother or anyone else. She has done the impossible for Saif which is another reason why she does not want to see that Saif might not be the person he says he is. Ayeza Khan acted superbly in tonight’s episode especially when Maya goes to Faris’ house; her expressions were right on point. Zahid Ahmed continues to give an average performance although he promised his fans that he will be playing the role “of the most charming villain” he has played so far in this play. So far Saif’s character does not even have the screen presence which this character could have had if it wasn’t translated in a different manner.

I am thoroughly enjoying watching this play, it is like reading an interesting novel, one page at a time, absorbing every little detail and looking forward to what the next page has in store!

How many of you watched this episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Momina Mustehsan’s Look For An Upcoming Music Video

Momina Mustehsan has seen a fair share of limelight after her debut with Coke Studio. Since then, her every move is accounted for and every project that she signs dissected in the media. Recently, she has grabbed a music video and will be seen acting throughout the song in a trendy setting.

Momina Mustehsan Latest Look For A New Music Video

As you can see in the snippet taken out of the video, Mustehsan has her hair parted with 70s band and chic glasses. The car is no less a masterpiece in terms of adding to the setting. The Cadillac contrasted with Momina’s pink upper gives a good feel. Let’s have a look at another picture taken at the sets of the shoot:

Momina Mustehsan Latest Look For A New Music Video

Momina is currently shooting this music video for Cornetto Pop Rock Season 2 alongside Hassan Rizvi. Rizvi is the ace choreographer and the brainchild of BodyBeats Dance And Recreational Centre, and is the main force behind Pop Rock. We don’t know if she will also be using the power of her vocals in the song or not, but all we are sure is that this music video is definitely going to be different with Momina Mustehsan stepping up her appearance in the industry.

Na Maloom Afrad 2’s Party Song ‘Chal Hug Lay’ Released

Na Maloom Afrad 2 is going to release on the first day of Eid-ul-Azha. The anticipation is already mounting after the success of its first installment. After Kaif-o-Suroor and its ultimate success, the movie makers have released another song of the film titled, ‘Chal Hug Lay’, and has termed it as the party anthem of the year.

Na Maloom Afrad 2's Party Song 'Chal Hug Lay' Released

In the song, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Fahad Mustafa and Javed Sheikh are grooving on the beats of the song at beach. Have a look:

Though we have good expectations with the movie, the song seems too culturally inappropriate and forced Indian copy. It could easily be said that the makers were inspired by ‘Jawaani Phir Nahi Aaani’, which had similar sort of beach celebratory song.

Na Maloom Afrad 2's Party Song 'Chal Hug Lay' Released

At first we can’t come up with our own content and then we are openly leading our generation towards vulgar music. This doesn’t seem acceptable at all. At this point, we can only wish that film producers and directors come out of such obscene tactics and make the content refreshing in terms of appeal.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 2 Review-Finalists Selected!

0

The second episode of the battle of the bands was the final auditions episode. Judges had to select six bands for the final competition but due to great turn out and even greater music; they chose eight bands for the finals. The bands who made it to the finals are:

  1. Badnaam
  2. Roots
  3. Kashmir
  4. Madlock
  5. Aura
  6. Jasim and the Pindi Boyz
  7. Shajr
  8. Darwesh

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 2 Review-Finalists Selected!

Today the judges were more involved with the the performances and really looked out on what was happening infront of them. Fawad and Meesha also gave their input and made the job lighter for Farooq. The judges were however more inclined towards rock music.Positive first qualified for the finals but they were later disqualified because one of their band members was on temporary basis though they had registered him as a member. In their place they selected Madlock though I found Ehl e Rock more capable and better as Ehl e Rock brought a whole new genre to the show with metallica on Urdu lyrics. Khamaaj was also another band which could not make it to the finals though I found it worth giving a chance today as they not only had beauty of music in their performance; the song they had written Bezuban was also outclass. E-Sharp were also good but it wasn’t their day obviously.

Talking about the bands which made to the finals Badnaam not only has a catchy name; the style of their lead vocalist is similar to that of Asrar. Kashmir and Darwesh also deserved the position they reached as both of them were unique and talented. Darwesh’s style was very divine and their poetry was beautiful too as they sang an original. Pindi Boyz were let in after a moment of suspense. Now we have to see how they will take forward the quirkiness they had in their performance. Shajr’s music was very strong but their lead vocalist’s style does not match the music they make. However they have advanced to the final round; how they will make the coordination of the voice and music will be a point to watch in coming episodes. Aura and Roots also made it to finals with Aura’s music gave soothing feels to the judges. The finalists are selected and the bands I will be looking forward to are Kashmir, Darwesh, Badnaam and Pindi Boyz.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 2 Review-Finalists Selected!

Today’s episode had an exciting moment for the audience too. Aaroh reunioned and performed Raag Neela for the fans. The band performed on the stage of Battle Of The Bands after 15 years; where they earlier performed as contestants and this time as stars.

Ayesha’s hosting game needs to up a bit as whenever she speaks it seems like she is trying to be excited; trying being the operative word here as obviously she does not seem excited in reality. Atif was missing today again; maybe he will join the show from the final round.

Which bands are you looking forward too and which do you think should have made it to the finals? Share your opinions in comments!

Faryal Replies After Amir’s Video!

The ongoing Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom drama is well-known. The couple fought on twitter and finally Amir announced that they are splitting on his Snapchat. Faryal however had claimed that their accounts were hacked. Faryal has now made a video on her Snapchat and has answered all the controversy through her angle. She still maintains that atleast her account was hacked and all this has happened due to nazr e bad of others. She also shared that her life is her daughter and looks like she is spending time with her daughter and friend in order to calm herself. Watch video to see what is Faryal’s take on all this:

Seems like maybe there is a way out for the couple or atleast Faryal seems hopeful. We wish the couple gets a way that is better for their young baby girl!

Hareem Farooq’s Teaser of ‘Parchi’ Is Out And We Have Questions!

Those who watched Janaan in cinemas were teased to Hareem Farooq’s upcoming movie ‘Parchi’. Joining forces for a comedy movie, Hareem Farooq and Imran Kazmi are back with the teaser of this movie.

Have a look at the teaser of the movie:

Parchi is directed by Azfar Jafri, who was also one of the main brains behind Janaan. Hareem who was one of the producers will be assuming the main lead in this movie alongside Ali Rehman Khan. And from this teaser, we can summon that Imran Kazmi is going to play some sort of antagonist in a funny way? Believe so.

After watching the teaser, there are multiple things that are coming up in our mind. While it seems that Hareem is going to be some sort of a thug, with all the beating up Imran Kazmi and toothpick in her mouth, her avatar tells otherwise. She mouths Punjabi sentences in a way which don’t seem natural. But, who are we to judge. Right? On the onset, she definitely looks a breath of fresh air while coming out of her typical look.

The Teaser of 'Parchi' Is Out, And We Have Many Questions!

As far as we know this movie is going to be a comedy, but with a deep and serious message to be imparted. This remains to be seen with the impending teasers and full trailer of the movie. Did you like this particular Hareem Farooq’s teaser? What are your expectations with the movie? Let us know in the comments section.

Films in August 2017

0

August the eight month of the year 2017 has started. August is the month in which our independence day falls, the 14th of this month is also the only public holiday. The independence day holiday usually has some film releases on its adjoining weekends. The 14th August holiday can be targeted for any film based on a patriotic theme.

Apart from the Independence day holiday the number of film releases in August is usually on the high side due to summer vacations in educational institutions.

Three Urdu films are releasing in August 2017, where all are coming on Friday 11 August 2017 the independence day weekend.

Geo Sar Utha Ke (جیو سر اٹھا کے)
Geo Sar Utha Ke (جیو سر اٹھا کے) is a film featuring Shafqat Cheema in the leading role. The film highlights the sacrifices of Police in ensuring law and order and fighting the evil elements of society. In the recent times there has been films like Waar, Maalik, Yalghaar, Saye Khudae Zuljalal based on the sacrifices of military and army based security agencies. GSUK highlights the efforts of civilian law enforcement agencies mainly Police.

Shafqat Cheema has been a seasoned name of our cinema from past three decades as a solid performer in negative roles. He has appeared as villain in many films as the hate-able character. n GSUK he is appearing as a leader of an outlaw gang challenging the law enforcement agencies while committing notorious crimes. The film is loosely based on the famous outlaw and wanted criminal Chooto Gang (چھوٹو گینگ), active in the Rajanpur and Rojhan areas of Southern Punjab. GSUK seems to be a film which is more about antagonist than its protagonist.

Alongside Shafqat Cheema, the other main characters in the film is a group of four young security enforcement officers performed on the screen by new faces. One of the police officers is shown as a Pakistani Sikh.

Umar Cheema who last appeared in Saya Khudae Zuljalal (December 2016) in a supporting role is appearing as the main protagonist, a young devoted police officer fighting the criminals. Babar Ali is also playing an important role in the film.

GSUK is directed by Nadeem Cheema, the son of Shafqat Cheema and its his first film as a director.

The film also features an item song shot on Mahnoor a famous theater artist of Lahore. From the trailer GSUK seems to be a loud commercial film based on a message but with loads of action, emotions and a pinch of glamour.

Chain Aaye Naa (چین آۓ نا)
Chain Aaye Naa (CAN) is a musical romantic film releasing on 11th August 2017. Due to release on 21st July 2017, it is delayed as the film maker requires more time for the promotion and marketing of the film.

The major highlight of Chain Aaye Naa is its director and producer Syed Noor, one of the last renown names of now defunct film industry of Lahore. Syed Noor has a lots of successful films to his credit in the 1990s like Jeeva, Ghoonghat, Sangam, Choorian, Daku Rani, Deewane Tere Pyar Ke. His last Urdu film Jhoomar was released in 2007 so Syed Noor is returning to Urdu cinema after a gap of one decade. Though he was active in Punjabi films during the last decade where Shareeka in 2012 was his last Punjabi film.

CAN marks the comeback of Syed Noor to the Urdu cinema. It is the debut film of Sehrish Khan an artist of Pakistani origin from USA. Sehrish Khan is the grand daughter of Sabiha Khanum and Santosh Kumar two legendary names of our cinema.

Shehroz Sabzwari is appearing as the male lead opposite Sehrish Khan. CAN is also the debut film of Shehroz Sabzwari, though he has worked as a childstar in Khulay Aasman Ke Neeche in 2007. Shehroz is the son of famous artist Behroz Sabzwari and nephew of Javed Sheikh a seasoned name of Pakistani cinema.

Adil Murad the son of Waheed Murad is also making a comeback to the big screen after two decades from this film. His last and only film to date Raja Saab was released in 1995.

Atiqa Odho and Nadeem Baig are working as a pair after a gap of almost two decades their last film Mummy was released in 1997.

Saima Noor an essential ingredient in the films of Syed Noor is surprisingly missing in this film. The trailer of the film was released on 22nd June 2017 which looks dull and tasteless in every aspect. On the whole the trailer of CAN has greatly disappointed anyone waiting for a strong comeback from Syed Noor. As evident from the trailer the film follows the pattern of an 1980s film with over emotional sequences, bad acting, lack of direction, sub par camerawork and unimpressive editing. The only strong aspect could have been its music as the main protagonist of the film is a musician, but alas its music also look outdated as many songs released in 1990s are reused in this film.

Ishq Wala Love (عشق والا لو)
Ishq Wala Love (عشق والا لو) is medium budgeted film produced in Lahore and directed by Imran Adeeb. Imran Adeeb is the son of Nasir Adeeb the ever famous writer of our film industry. Nasir Adeeb attained fame after writing the Punjabi film, Maula Jatt in 1979 which proved a smashing hit. After Maula Jutt, Nasir Adeeb wrote hundreds of Punjabi films on the maula jutt theme till the death of Sultan Rahi (hero of Maula Jutt) in 1996.

Nasir Adeeb also directed around five Urdu/Punjabi films in late 1990s which recieved mixed response. Nasir Adeeb is also making a comeback as the film writer from IWL after a gap of few years.

IWL is a triangular love story featuring Hanan Sameed, Ali Tabish and Mahi Khan in the leading roles. Hanan Sameed has earlier worked in few low budgeted Punjabi and Urdu films only released in Punjab without much recognition. He later moved to Karachi and is actively working in dramas these days. IWL is his first prominent Urdu film.

Ali Tabish is also making a comeback to Urdu cinema. His debut film Pyar Hi Pyar Mein (PHPM) was released in 2003 which was not successful. PHPM was directed by Faheem Burney and introduced Ali Tabish with a filmi name Ashal. His second and last major Urdu film was Pehla Pehla Pyar (PPP) in 2007 which was also not successful. PPP was directed by Mubasher Lucman who later became a famous anchor person of our country.

The heroine Mahi Khan is a new face on the big screen and seems more fit for Punjabi cinema than Urdu.

The release date of the film was announced in a press conference at Lahore Press Club in the mid of July 2017 which to date has been the only promotional activity of this film. The major highlight of IWL is its music which is melodious and filmi.

Atif Aslam Claims That He Introduced Mahira Khan In Movies

Atif Aslam has proved his mettle as a singer plus actor. After singing for a long time, his debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s ‘BOL’ was terrific. But, he was not the only one who made his debut on silver screen with this movie. Mahira Khan also made her entry to Pakistani cinema with BOL, and since then there is no stopping her fame.

Atif Aslam Claims That He Introduced Mahira Khan In Movies

Now, there is a twist in the story. Atif Aslam has claimed that he is the one due to which Mahira was introduced in films. In a recent interview with a local channel, Be Inteha singer said that Shoaib Mansoor, director of BOL, gave him the liberty to choose an actress opposite him in the film. He was given three options, out of which he put Mahira first and told Mr. Mansoor to cast her in the movie.

Atif Aslam Claims That He Introduced Mahira Khan In Movies

He further added that the Zaalima actress was junior at that time, therefore chances of her being in cast without his favour were very slim. It seems that Aslam has finally put down his bait that Khan’s success is due to his big favour given years ago.

Atif Aslam also appreciated all the Pakistani actress who are working abroad, but claimed that Saba Qamar outdid all and was exceptional in ‘Hindi Medium’.

Faryal Tried To Patch Up With Amir!

Boxer Amir Khan is parting ways with wife of four years Faryal Makhdoom. An ugly twitter row happened between the couple yesterday. Though after some time Faryal claimed that both of their accounts were compromised (hacked) on Snapchat. The final blow came when Amir made a video on his Snapchat that the divorce is happening and they both will walk away from their unhealthy relationship.

Faryal Tried To Patch Up With Amir!

A source has claimed that Faryal got in touch with Amir later at night after the twitter war and her family got in touch with Khan’s family in Bolton to convince them that Amir should reconcile with Faryal for their two year old daughter Lamaisah. Faryal told Amir that they should announce that their accounts were hacked and use the excuse to get away with the controversy. The source further told:

Amir stood his ground and told her that it was over and that he had mentally decided to move on from her and that he was unable to take it anymore.

He hung up on her and when she texted again with threatening messages, he released video message to put an end to it all.

Allegedly Faryal also told Khan that they are not officially divorced as Amir has not said Talaaq to her three times on which Amir texted her ‘talaaq, talaaq, talaaq’ according to the source.

The couple has definitely gone out of hands and has washed their dirty laundry out in public!

People React To National Anthem By Coke Studio!

Coke Studio is back with season 10. As for previous years Coke Studio always opens with a patriotic song. This time however Coke Studio chose to chorus the National Anthem. All the line up has participated in performing the Anthem. Many people are naturally impressed with the performance as it is our National Anthem. But some people had reservations from the way it was performed. See below some reactions people had after watching the opening anthem:

Some people plain loved it:

Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai Episode 16 Review – Story Picks Pace

Episode 16 of Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai forwarded the story a little bit. The good thing about this drama is that the story is quite typical and predictable, yet what keeps you coming back is the individual characters of each actor in the play. They are all unique in their own ways and everyone has equal screen time. Another realistic thing is that no one is black and white, not even Anila, because in her own twisted ways, she was playing on Sajid’s craving for a son to ensure her orphan kids’ future, and not even Naheed because in a way, her choices have always unconventional too. Yet, the way these characters interact and engage and play their parts keeps this play an interesting and even comforting watch, since after the initial episodes, there is no under dog in the play. Everyone has carved out a life for themselves and for Naheed’s household, this whole credit goes to her. She is more of a man than all the men combined in the drama.

This episode’s main issue was Amber’s confusion and mental anguish because she, in her childish ways, wants to see her father suffer in front of her eyes. She wants to see his punishment and gets upset when it is not imminent. Saima Noor was again awesome in the conversation with her when she reminded her to focus on the happiness that is knocking on her own door. I’m doubly impressed by Saima Noor, never knew she can nail such a character with so much poise and grace. She is the show stealer, since day one of this drama. However, Mehwish Qureshi, Maryam Ansari and Saboor Ali, have all fitted into their roles by now. On the other hand, Anila’s sons are new actors probably and as yet have not delivered anything significant.

In Sadiq’s household, he is slowly but surely remembering what he had done with Naheed, especially when Anila called him manhoos. Sajid Hassan is phenomenal in the role. His body language, his expressions and his tone of voice does not even need dialogues to depict his defeat and regrets. He acts just by being on screen. He is so good to show the weaknesses of his character that you cannot hate him even after what he has done. He is so natural that he brings out the vulnerability and human element even in Sadiq.

Sabreen Hisbani is also doing a good job, being the selfish and mean Anila who can now see that she has raised monsters of sons but is too arrogant to admit it and keeps on covering them.

So far, Naheed and her daughters are managing all the expenses of Iqra’s marriage themselves. The girls have the same grit and resilience as their mother. Shehzad, on the other hand wants to come to bless Iqra but does not want to take any responsibility. Naheed and Iqra are scared deep inside their hearts because of Naheed’s and Sadiq’s troublesome marriage but they are all keeping a brave front till now.

stay tuned to watch Iqra’s shadi next week ..
