Diwali is celebrated annually by Hindus all over the world during autumn in the northern hemisphere. It is called the festival of lights and celebrated as sign of the victory of lightness over darkness or good over evil. It has been celebrated for over thousands of years. Although, it is a part of Hindu culture, people around the globe celebrate it. The world has become a global village and everyone seems to celebrating every festival. Like, they celebrate Eid in India with immense respect, people here in Pakistan have started to celebrate Holy and Diwali, too.
Deepak Perwani is an ace fashion designer. He has also acted in some dramas. His last memorable role was as Sanam Saeed’s father in Kadoorat. His collections, when exhibited, never cease to impress but that’s not all about him. Deepak hails from a Sindhi-Hindu family and this year he gave a big bash on Diwali which was attended by the who’s who of fashion, film and television fraternities. Sportsman Waseem Akram attended the party with wife Shaniera Akram.

Sonya’s last two television projects have been huge hits. Meri Guriya was the most well-made serial compared to the rest that tackled the same issue. She shared screen space with the powerhouse of talent Sania Saeed and Mohsin Abbas Haider. Her Aisi Tanhaayi was such a huge hit that MBC Bollywood dubbed into Arabic for the Arab audience. In short, she is on the go. Recently, in an interview she revealed about what she is up to next.
We reported earlier today that on being asked about her doing film Lafangay opposite Sami Khan she said that it has not been finalised yet. She also said that she is in talks with the makers of Punjab Nahin Jaungi 2. Well, we can’t say anything unless she announces formally. She has also signed a film opposite Faysal Qureshi, Zahid Ahmed and Aaminah Shaikh. It will be directed by Sohail Javed. She said that it is not a song and dance commercial film rather it is a story of four complex characters. She said that she was initially reluctant to do the film.
She continued saying that Sohail Javed convinced her and she said yes. She said the role was so emotionally complex that she would have had to dive into some painful experiences from the past to bring depth to the part and she was not keen on doing it. But the director showed confidence in her and she ended up signing the film.
Best on-screen characters of Pakistani dramas 2018 are all those characters which won the hearts of the viewers because they were either inspiring or easy to connect to. These characters were different, engaging as well as layered and meaningful. The way their journeys and transformations were translated on screen was also another reason why people enjoyed watching the shows they were a part of.

Hajra (Aangan)
Hajra was the binding force of the family. She being the eldest daughter in law never really took advantage of her position. In fact, she always made sure to do the damage control as much as she could by keeping quiet or at times explaining things a bit more elaborately to subside any differences the rest of the family members might be having with each other. Hajra was wise and understanding. Yes, she did turn out to be unforgiving in regards to her son’s choices but other than that, she was the one who always took care of everyone in every situation. What made Hajra’s character even better was her human side where she didn’t hold back in sharing her frustrations too. The credit definitely goes to Irsa Ghazal for making Hajra’s character so strong and out-there with her perfect acting.
Sajjad (Aangan)
Sajjad was the best son, best husband, best brother and best father. He was the most loving person who was kind hearted, considerate, courteous and selfless when it came to his family members. Sajjad was the backbone of the family where everyone relied on him and no wonder why everyone shed tears on his death. Sajjad was a brilliantly written character and Noor ul Hassan performed it phenomenally.
Zaini (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)
Zaini’s character in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila was progressive and inspiring. Zaini’s dialogues were written brilliantly and she always served as a reality check in a house where everyone was afraid to question. Zaini was brave as well as sensitive. The reasons why she was not like Sadia and Sila were also shown in a convincing manner. Through her character, the writer showed how important it was for fathers to be there for their daughters and what a huge difference their support can make. Zaini’s positive traits were a breath of fresh air and she balanced out the negativity of the other characters. Amna Malick’s performance definitely gave this character the edge it needed.
Nadia (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)
Nadia’s character literally turned things around in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila. Everything from her entry in the story to her exit was extremely powerful. Nadia was blunt and intelligent, her character showed that no one can dictate a person unless they are willing to be dictated. The way Nadia gave Joi and Bari Aapa both a taste of their own medicine by having her own way was amusing and pleasing to watch. This character was the most entertaining part of a serial which was meant to be more upsetting than entertaining. Nadia’s dialogues most often voiced the views of the audience which is why the viewers found her character easy to connect to. Nadia’s honesty and her intelligence was her best traits. Kiran Haq nailed this character which is why viewers looked forward to Nadia’s scenes.
Sarang (Pukaar)
Sarang was the savior in Pukaar. Even though he was brought into Sultan house for some other purpose but Sarang never let anything or anyone for that matter sway him and cloud his judgment. Sarang was the sort of person who believed in forming his own opinions and always stood by what was right without even fearing what the consequences might be. All these traits made Sarang’s character very positive and strong which was performed brilliantly by Zahid Ahmed.
Abba Jee (Aangan)
Abba Jee was the life of the show as well as the family. What made his character super amazing was the fact that he had a forgiving nature and was very understanding. Abba Jee never believed in imposing his own thoughts and opinions on others but yes, always conveyed what he thought was just and right. It was always nice to see him rationalizing his wife’s perspective and approach every time she lost a bit of direction and let suspicion cloud her opinion. Abba Jee’s dialogues and one-liners were one of the best aspects of this drama and Sir Qavi Khan did complete justice to this character.
Laila (Aangan)
Laila was the strong, opinionated character who always believed in saying what she had on her mind but always maintained that level of politeness. Laila also showed that a woman does not need a child to complete her because she in just as complete as any other woman is. Laila was strong that is why she chose to live her life on her own terms even after her world turned upside down after the husband she loved the most betrayed her. Laila definitely took her time but did not let the betrayal break her. Iffat Omar was the star of the show and gave Laila’s character the treatment it well and truly deserved.
Mumtaz Begum (Suno Chanda)
Mumtaz Begum in Suno Chanda was the most graceful yet fun female head of family we saw in our dramas this year. Usually, men are shown playing such roles in dramas or the women who run the show are most often negative. Mumtaz Begum made her decisions independently and her relationship with all her sons and daughter-in-laws was extremely amusing. She was intelligent and for a change a woman her age was shown in a different role without going overboard. Samina Ahmed is a brilliant actress therefore the fact that she played this role added to the beauty of this character.
Shahana Batool (Suno Chanda)
Shahana’s character was the most amusing character in drama serial Suno Chanda. The dialogues and her situations were written in the best way possible and the way Nadia Afghan translated it on screen made it even better. Comedy is always more fun to watch when the situations are somewhat realistic and the characters are easy to connect to. Comedy always sounds better in Punjabi too especially when the actor playing the role speaks Punjabi with such fluency. Shahana’s character made the viewers laugh their heads off and never disappointed.
Tariq (Visaal)
Tariq showed that you don’t need to rely on wits or physical strength to be able to stand firm on what you think is right and support your stance too. Tariq proved that all one needs is mental strength, determination and a whole lot of honesty to do right by someone. Tariq was the one who was burdened with a lot of favors which in the end became like shackles for him but it was amazing to see such a vulnerable human being becoming a strong pillar of support for someone who was far more miserable than he was. Nazar ul Hassan played the character of Tariq beautifully and his body language and expressions perfectly depicted Tariq’s state of mind.
Sunny (Lashkara)
Sunny was such a character that only knew how to love and be in love despite all the odds. Sunny went through a lot emotionally and his world turned upside down when the love of his life got married to someone else. Sunny went from being a harmless guy to an obsessed admirer to someone who wanted to destroy all the happiness of the one he loved but when everything changed in his lady love’s life, he redeemed himself and did everything to make sure her suffering ends. Sunny redeemed himself when he went from being a villain to a hero who fixed every single problem in his lady love’s life. Sunny’s journey was like a rollercoaster ride where at first it looked like he will never be able to come out of his obsession but later he shown mental and emotional growth of such a level that he became the savior. Imran Ashrafwas at his best in Lashkara and the ease and effortlessness with which he portrayed all the shades of Sunny’s personality and journey is commendable.
Aairah (Khudgarz)
Aairah was a strong-willed woman who only knew how to make things work and sort them out. Aairah’s job also demanded her to fix what was broken inside someone’s mind and heart and that is why she ended up becoming so emotionally attached to her husband because what she did for others was done by him for her. Aairah knew how to take a stand fof herself, she also knew how to voice her opinions too. Aairah’s character was beautifully written by Rida Bilal and performed exceptionally by Amina Sheikh.
Omar (Khudgarz)
Omar was someone who learnt from his mistakes and made sure to change the course of his life after life-changing bitter experience that he had. Omar only believed in being a good influence on others and live life selflessly because that made him peaceful and contented. The way Omar guided a lost soul like Hassan and dealt with immense patience even when Hassan tested it made Omar’s character memorable. It was a treat to see such a nice and humble character who only resonated positivity. Yasir Nawaz was a perfect choice for this character as he played it beautifully.
Junaid (Khudgarz)
A good son, a good brother, a good husband and a very kind-hearted human being, this is how Junaid’s character can be described. Junaid was burdened with the favors that were done for him by his uncle that is why he developed this forgiving nature where he let go and look past all the mistreatment that was directed at him. It was also nice to see Junaid evolving as a person and not letting his wife put up with irrational behavior. Junaid was someone who always believed in absorbing what was wrong but when it came to his wife, it was so good to see him standing by her to protect her. Syed Jibran always gives his 100% to all the characters that he plays and that is why Junaid’s character was no exception too.
Raheel (Khudgarz)
Raheel was a supporting character but he had a strong role to play in this drama. Raheel was introduced as someone who had a lot of love, respect and admiration for his colleague Abeer who he knew was a part of an abusive relationship. Raheel not only supported Abeer emotionally but stood by her through thick and thin and always protected her when he saw her past was being highlighted. It was nice to see such a supportive husband on screen who stood by his words and gave the sort of comfort and security to a vulnerable girl who had lost faith and confidence in herself. Salman Saeed played this character phenomenally and it was good to see him on-screen.
Akram (Visaal)
It won’t be wrong to say that Akram was the most unique character that we got to see this year in a Pakistani drama. Akram was a well-written, quirky and a very different character who believed in himself and was a very optimistic person but the only thing that went against him was his approach towards his motive which was wrong. Even though it was established right from the beginning of the drama that Akram was a con-man but as the viewers got to learn more about his character, they ended up having a soft corner for him as they wanted him to get exposed with things working out for him also. Even though Akram lied along the way, betrayed and fooled others too but he deemed it right because he was in love and he never once harmed anyone. Akram had leadership qualities in him as well and he was loyal to those who associated themselves with him. Akram’s character could not have been played better and the credit goes to Zahid Ahmed for a perfect portrayal.
Sajjad (Zun Mureed)
Sajjad’s character was not positive overall but it was definitely realistic and superbly etched-out. Sajjad’s character development and weaknesses are the main reason why he is in this list. His personality traits and his mindset accurately depicted the mentality of all such men who think they are superior to women solely because of their gender. Sajjad gradually realized his mistakes and decided to mend his ways for good. Through his character, the writer showed where men like him go wrong and why they had such a difficult time accepting their mistakes. The writer also showed what an important role the upbringing plays in determining what kind of a role a man will be playing in his family and the society in the future. Omair Rana translated this character impressively on screen.
Tabbasum (Zun Mureed)
Tabbasum was the main protagonist in drama serial Zun Mureed. Tabbasum was one of the most nuanced female leads we saw in dramas this year. Through this character the writer showed that a woman can compromise on anything but she should never compromise on her dignity. Tabbasum was a strong woman who had many vulnerabilities but no shortcomings. A practical, sensible and intelligent woman who tried her best to find a way out of a difficult situation, Tabbasum represented many women in our society who do everything they can to support their husbands but they don’t get due credit for it. This character was etched-out beautifully. Even though Nadia Khan’s performance was not up to the mark but Tabbasum never failed to impress.
Fari (Zun Mureed)
Fari was a sensible young woman who stood by her sister’s side right till the end and also made the viewers understand many aspects of Tabbasum’s character. Her conversations with Tabbasum were one of the best parts of the drama. Fari was focused, strong and hard working. She believed in relying on her own strengths and did not need a man to save her. A woman with a vision who managed to live her life meaningfully even with so much negativity around her – Fari was anything but a victim! Fatima Shah’s performance was pretty decent but her overdone make-up was distracting most of the times but that did not kill the beauty of this powerful character.
Safeena (Meri Gurya)
Safeena was one of the few positive female characters we saw in dramas this year. Her character was likeable as well as meaningful in many ways. Safeena was forced into a marriage but she tried to make it work after finding out that her husband was a complete misfit. A strong woman who liked fixing broken people and situations, Safeena’s character was inspiring throughout. She played a major role in figuring out that her husband was not just a misfit but he was actually a cold-blooded murderer. Safeena was always fair as well as sensitive which made her character more likable. She refused to be a victim and fought for what was right till the end. Sonya Hussyn did complete justice to this beautiful character.
Shehnaz (Meri Gurya)
Shehnaz from Meri Gurya was undoubtedly one of the best characters in Pakistani dramas this year. Shehnaz was a mother who fought a long and hard battle to get justice for her daughter as well as for so many other little girls. Shehnaz’s relationship with her daughters, her overall personality and the way her weak as well strong moments were shown made this character simply unforgettable. Sania Saeed always adds grace to such character which makes them even more appealing. Her natural acting was one of the many reasons why this character had an impact. Shehnaz’s fight for justice also gave an important message to the viewers.
Zaid (Woh Mera Dil Tha)
Zaid’s character was one of the most beautifully etched-out characters in Pakistani dramas this year. He was one such character who had so many flaws yet he never lost his appeal. The way his coming of age journey was covered made this character one which is impossible to forget. Deep down Zaid was always capable of being a wonderful human being but it took him time to discover that side of his personality. Sami Khan’s superlative performance throughout brought out the best in this character. Most people who watched this drama, tuned into it, because of Zaid.
Naina (Woh Mera Dil Tha)
Naina was another reason why viewers tuned into Woh Mera Dil Tha. She was a levelheaded and caring young woman who made the most out of the worst experiences of her life. A positive character who went through a major transformation as well as someone who learned from her mistakes, Naina’s character had a lot going for it. Naina’s circumstances for most part were terrible but she was never shown as a victim. A balanced and beautiful character which became even more pleasing to watch on screen because Madiha Imam played this role.

Ali Zafar is a multi-talented artist. He has shown his craft and how he can rule in every department many times. Ali Zafar is a rockstar. He is a well-loved singer and people love the tunes he makes. He made a mark and a definite place for himself in Bollywood.
Ali Zafar recently debuted in the Pakistani film industry with his movie Teefa In Trouble and won hearts. The film joined the highest grossers of the year with the way it performed at the box office. Among the many of his crafts is painting. Ali Zafar is a stunning painter and can bring to life anyone he sees. Ali definitely is a talented soul and can do anything from singing to writing to acting and painting with the same expertise!
She started acting at very young age. She didn’t have any formal training yet she excelled at emotionally complex parts. She has done tons of serials and soaps but it seem like she never got her due on television. At least, not as much as she’s got in the movies. Maybe, she was always meant to be a movie star.
When she did Moor everyone thought that she did it because she prefers substance over glamour. But boy, just when we thought she was just another innocent girl who had got some acting chops, she surprised everyone by making slaying appearances at the award functions. She showed a side of her that was never known and it opened doors of more opportunities for her. She appeared in a hardcore commercial film Azaadi. It did fairly well at the Box Office and it proved to be a jackpot for her. Many critics labelled her as the best thing in the entire film.
It was just a beginning as she revealed in an interview to Hip In Pakistan that she is in talks with the makers of Punjab Nahin Jaungi. They are working on a sequel and she could be a part of it. She said that nothing has been materialized but if all goes well, she would be the leading lady in the sequel of the 2nd biggest blockbuster of all time.
Just when everyone thought no one could give Meera competition, Amir Liaquat arrived. And man has he just competed? No, he’s won it. He’s left Meera way behind. He’s had people on his show who wanted him to be their father. I mean Meera just had a few husbands, that’s it but she never admits having one. Amir isn’t like her, he is fearless. He married a girl half his age and didn’t hide it. How many would do that?
But seems like all is not well with him these days. He has been indicted by the Supreme Court for committing contempt of court during a television program. However, he pleaded not guilty of the charges when they were read to him. Although, He sought apology but the court rejected it saying that time for apologies has now passed.
Well, seems he has really rubbed authorities the wrong way and they are not in mood to forgive him. He has been asked to appear in the for the next hearing of the case on November 29. Amir was elected MNA from Karachi when he contested elections for PTI. His win was criticized but later people swallowed it like a bitter pill. He had also been criticizing the premier for not giving enough attention to Karachi.
Ohkay so, the story of Koi Chand Rakh has not been progressing for quite a while now. There is nothing new to it or let’s just say that they don’t have much to show. I think the channel should also air double episodes of Koi Chand Rakh so that we get done with this drama ASAP as to watch a turtle-paced episode every single week is no fun!
Zia Bhai The Great:
Zain has realized that he is a husband only in the matters where he can put restrictions on Rabail because other than that, there’s not even a single responsibility that he is fulfilling as her husband. Zain is a perfect example of hypocrisy at its best where he does not have a problem cheating on his wife but because he has found out that Rabail’s cousin had feelings for her, he is unhappy about it & reacting to it as well? It was very sweet to see Rabail putting all her energies in pleasing her dil & zuban jala husband of hers who had nothing but awazari along with 10 layers of foundations pasted on his cheeks. Yes, I am specifically saying cheeks because the makeup enthusiast in me couldn’t stop noticing how Zain’s forehead & cheeks were different toned. So, Zain does think about Rabail a bit & he is also considerate of the fact that he will be hurting his father by doing anything wrong to Rabail but then Nishal keeps him occupied or he gives her a lot of edge to do that. Zain can not just put the entire blame on Nishal & say that she sways him because deep inside even he wants that to happen.
Rabail has been nothing but patient with Zain & she only reciprocates his rudeness with politeness but that is still not working in her favor. I felt for Rabail a lot when she said she had no one who belonged to her & that is why she cherishes Zain so much but yes, at times I did feel whether she was too naive to not see Zain’s discomfort or she was just giving him some space or benefit of doubt like she asked for herself while talking to Sobi. I really feel annoyed when I see everyone misunderstanding Rabail I mean everyone else is doing their thing, no one bats an eyelid on what others do but when it comes to Rabail, everyone judges her. I really feel the writer has made things a bit too one-sided where everyone, starting from Asad to Nafeesa to now her mum-in-law & Zain, all of them are against her but Rabail chooses to ignore it all. Will she ever take a stand for herself or will continue to get oppressed!?!
Alay lay lay, Sobi ko sharammm aa gaii…pehle flirtiyaan karte hue nahi aa rahi thi aur she didn’t even shy away from telling Rabail to arrange her marriage with Zia but Zia bhai ka naam lete hue Sobi ko sharam aa gai. Well, I really thought that out of all the people Zain’s mother will be loyal to Rabail but even she was playing games & wanted Rabail to do the heavy-lifting if things went wrong in Zia/Sobi’s case.
Zia Bhai The Great gave us a new proverb just because he thought Ignorance Is Bliss is outdated, he spruced it up to Ignorance Is Blessing. After getting Bhai-zoned by his very own Nishiiiiiii, he wore his staple grey coat (jo shayad production house ne 1 hi diya tha) & went to that cafe to have a lunch/dinner because he realized that he will be forever alone for a while now. Oh well, I actually got excited that Zia will spill the beans but nah, Zain came home to mazeed bistiofy Zia Bhai The Great!
Closing Thoughts – Move The Story Forward:
Overall, this episode of Koi Chand Rakh wasn’t special but I had a good time watching it because of the comic quotient it had or because I derived some fun out of it. If there is a heroine from old lollywood who can give today’s heroine run for their money, it has to be Resham. She is an ace actress. She’s gorgeous. She’s stylish and she is ever graceful. Although, she has not done any substantial role recently, that does not take her charm away. Her appearance in Nagin was loved by some and some criticized it. She recently appeared on One Take and gave some fiery answers to the questions. In fact, she made headlines by calling out Reham Khan for mentioning her in her tell all book.
Well, that’s all past now. What’s exciting is that Resham is doing a film after very long. Yes, she is a part of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana. The film has been in news ever since it was announced. Sohai Ali Abro had quit the film citing date issues and then Urwa Hocane was kicked out of the film. Now, Eshal Fayaz has been finalised as the leading lady opposite Sami Khan. It also stars Ayesha Omer in a significant role.
As far as Resham’s role is concerned, Khalil ur Rehman defined it as a very important role. He said it matched Resham’s caliber and provided that she is a great performer, she will do full justice to it. Resham will start shooting for the film by Niovember, 2o.
Sometimes I look at my old photographs and thank God there was not too much of internet back then. I mean some of those photos are ugly and awkward that I would never want anyone to see. Now, imagine how would an actor think who is on the roll in her career if some pictures from her school days come out. Although, a slash wrapped around her gives an impression that she was a brilliant kid but is that all for a girl who we think is the most beautiful from her generation?

Syra and Shehroz are one power couple. Syra has done some wonderful work in the past. Shehroze’s Bisaat e Dil is on-air on Hum TV and people are loving it. They both danced together at International Pakistan Prestige Awards this year in London and won us over. They were looking all prepared to appear in a romantic film together and guess what they are actually doing a film together.
So far the title has not been decided. Syra and Shehroz often share bts photos and call it a sairoz film. That’s a cute name, we must say. It is written and directed by Omer Esa Khan, the unnamed films is being made in collaboration with Bluesteel Films in Bahrain. The last spell of shootings is currently underway in Bahrain and is expected to be finished in another month. The film will tentatively be released on Eid-ul-Adha in 2019.
The film is a story of unconditional love between two youngsters who have to part ways owing to their circumstances. It has an Indian actor Ankur Rathi playing an important role in it while the other cast members include Shahzeen Rahat, Aaadi, Mohi Abro, Sabeena and Amir Qureshi. This would be both Syra and Shehroze’s second film.
Sanam Saeed like many other celebrities spoke her heart out on Samina Peerzada’s show. She shared what a close relationship she had with her mother and how the kind of upbringing her mother gave her shaped her personality. Her mother was a school teacher who always guided her children and made sure that all of them feel loved. Sanam Saeed talked about her mother more than anything else in the show. Her mother passed away last year and her death left a profound affect on her.
Sanam Saeed shared that she always loved children and ever since she was little herself she wanted to have kids. When her mother passed away along with other things, this feeling also went away. She said that she did not want to have children any more because she thought that what would her children’s childhood be like without their grandmother. She also shared that this feeling might be temporary but right now this is how she felt.
Sanam Saeed also talked about how she felt that over thinking was a big flaw in her personality. This thinking too was a product of her habit of thinking too much about things before venturing into them.
Sanam Saeed talked about her divorce for ths first time. Sanam Saeed is one of those celebrities who seldom give interviews. Even when she appears on talk shows, she does not like talking about her personal life. This time in Samina Peerzada’s show, Sanam Saeed for the first time talked about her marriage and divorce. No one knew till now that Sanam Saeed’s marriage has ended therefore this was also the first time that she broke this news.
Samina Peerzada put the question forward in the most decent way and Sanam Saeed’s reply was very hones too. She talked about the reasons why she got married in the first place and the reasons for taking the divorce. Sanam Saeed took complete responsibility for ending her marriage and did not blame her husband in any way. Sanam Saeed shared that her mother got terminally ill when soon after she got married. Sanam Saeed moved to Dubai after getting married and she thought she could live a happy life being a wife, doing work every now and then. She also wanted to have children and get settled down in a relationship but it was not meant to be.
Sanam Saeed shared that all her life she has worked but in Dubai she found herself waiting for her husband all day long with not much to do. She was okay with that too but when her mother got sick and she knew that her mother will not live, she decided, she wanted to earn , look after her mother and make all her wishes come true. Now this was not possible living in Dubai therefore she decided to move to Karachi.
The decision for the divorce came when she realized that she could not settle in a relationship yet. She was too used to having wings, she did not want to be limited in any way!
Baba Jani Episode 10 Story Review – Tonight’s episode of Baba Jani focused on the changes in Sadia because of the constant reminders that she was not good enough for Asfand and how perfect Mehwish was/is. Mehwish got divorced and Asfand felt more guilty than ever. Nabila had a change of heart after she observed Sadia and Nimra. Saqib made advances at Nimra and this time around it seems that Nimra will keep this a secret.
Sadia’s Growing Insecurities
Sadia’s state of mind and the reasons why she felt distant from Asfand all of a sudden even though Asfand was as caring as before were shown realistically and were relatable. Sadia’s makeover, the reaction she got from Najiba and Naila as well as the affect all of this had on her was also shown convincingly. The scenes in which Sadia was thinking about everything Najiba and Naila had said to her and later on the one in which she was crying were stretched for no reason. After finding out that Mehwish was divorced Sadia started wondering if Asfand indeed was still in love with Mehwish. It was good to see her reaching out to her husband and giving him a chance to share what was worrying him like a mature person instead of distancing herself from him. It was easy to understand why she did not try harder to find out what Asfand was thinking about because she had a good reason to be scared of what he might say. Asfand was still in shock therefore his reaction too was justified. If he shared everything with Sadia things would have been different. Sadia was happy and extremely confident before Naila convinced her that Asfand was still in love with Mehwish. Even though she has been feeling insecure but this character has been written in such a way too that you never see Sadia as the victim. Savera Nadeem also translated these insecurities and the confusion her character was going through on screen in a graceful manner.
Nabila’s Change of Heart
The way Nabila changed her opinion about Sadia and Nimra both was definitely one of the best developments tonight. Even though Najiba kept on telling her otherwise, it was quite obvious that Nabila was not like her sisters. She seemed to appreciate everything Sadia was doing for her and later on, she did not draw any wrong conclusions when she saw Saqib and Nimra together. Her advice to Nimra however showed that she was naturally looking out for her sister more than anyone else. Nimra has always shared everything with her mother but now it seems like she might keep this a secret. In one of the previous episodes, Asfand also felt that Nimra felt uncomfortable around Saqib and asked her to share anything that was worrying her but right now it seems highly unlikely that she will tell Asfand all this. Nimra and Sadia’s scene in the beginning showed that although Nimra had not accepted Asfand as a father figure but she acknowledged everything he was doing for them and wanted to do something to thank him. I missed watching Asfand and Nimra’s scenes together in this episode. Madiha Imam like always was a breath of fresh air. She is an exceptional actress who never disappoints.
Mehwish’s Divorce
Khala and Asfand’s meeting showed that these two were more close now than before. Asfand’s willingness to help and the way he said that the engagement was a thing of the past clearly suggested that he had moved on. Later on, Asfand looked upset, which was of course a natural reaction. If Mehwish was going to be divorced and she was going to be back in Asfand’s life eventually, she should have been given some screen time at least tonight. There are times when you feel like the screen time has not been divided equally among all the tracks and characters. Some of the characters only make an appearance when they are needed otherwise they are completely out of the picture.
The Good Points
The best thing about tonight’s episode was that Naila and Najiba did not take center stage. Asfand, Sadia, Nimra and Mehwish’s track took a new turn and it is impossible to predict what turn the story will take next. It seems like the story will only get more interesting from here on. The performances were up to the mark as usual and some of the situations did not go as expected which is always good especially when such developments are convincing. Like many other plays written by Faiza Iftikhar, this one too is unpredictable which also make you curious.
The Weaknesses
Some of the scenes tonight were stretched unnecessarily and the camera work in a few scenes was not impressive. This episode definitely had more strengths than weaknesses.
The Preview
The preview of the next episode showed more of the same – Najiba’s insecurities and planning – but I am sure there will be more to it. I am glad that the preview did not give away much.

Aangan, the most anticipated Pakistani drama this season is all set to hit our screens. People loved Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly in Yakeen Ka Safar and now we will get to see both of them together on screen again in Aangan. The other leading lady of the drama is none other than Mawra Hocane who has a huge fan following of her own. The other cast members include Ahsan Khan, Hira Mani, Sonya Hussyn, Rabia Butt and many others.
The drama is directed by Ehtashamuddin, the brilliant mind behind Udaari. It is a period drama and we will get to see some serious chemistry and fun as evident from the first teaser and looks like Sajal Aly is going to take all the praises for her performance. Netflix has been a revolution. It has changed the television and the movie watching experience. Some great movies and series have come out of the platform. It has created more jobs. There’s less censorship and everyone is loving it. It has even successfully launched in Asia by producing some great original content. Every now and then we keep hearing that an original series is being produced from Pakistan but it turns out to be a rumor.
Whether or not any Netflix series being produced by Pakistan doesn’t bother us anymore, what has got us more excited is that someone from Pakistan is going to be part of a Netflix original. Yes, you read that correctly. If rumors are to be believed Sana Fakhar is in London shooting for her international project which happens to be a Netflix original. Isn’t it wonderful?
Well, so far only few tabloids have reported the news and the Yeh Dil Apka Huwa actor has not confirmed it yet. But, it would be wonderful to see someone from the Pakistani industry doing a Netflix original. If rumors turn out to be true, Sana would become the first actor from Pakistan to feature in a series for the streaming service.
Alif s undoubtedly one of the biggest upcoming shows right now. The drama has a got a stellar cast with names like Ahsan Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly and Kubra Khan attached to it. The fact that it is written by Umera Ahmed increases the anticipation even more.
Last we saw some BTS shots of Hamza Ali Abbasi, Sajal Aly, Kubra Khan and easy to say they all are looking stunning. Kubra will be playing the role of Hamza’s mother which seems like we will see a time leap. The son of journalist Iqrar ul Hassan, Pehlaaj Hassan is also making his debut with Alif. We have seen Pehlaaj many times on television alongside his father in the shows he hosts. Pehlaaj will be portraying Hamza Ali Abbasi’s childhood in Alif. Mohib Mirza is back on the television screen with Deedan where he is starring opposite Sanam Saeed. He is an actor who has always impressed the audiences with his strong performances. Mohib has transitioned to films and Deedan was a good comeback on TV, the medium where people love him and always want to see more of him. The news is he is all ready for another project to come out on the small screens.
Mohib Mirza will be starring in another drama titled as Dushman. He will be seen alongside Tooba Siddiqui in the project. The other cast members include Madeeha Imam, Imran Peerzada, Saba Hamid and Irfan Khoosat. Dushman will be directed by Amin Iqbal who has already directed Mohib Mirza in the on-air drama Deedan. This will be their second project together.

Ever since, Yaqeen Ka Safar has ended we have been dying to see Ahad and Sajal together. They have made several appearances together walking the ramp and being on the magazine covers but they haven’t been seen on television screens. Aangan was said to be their first project together after Yakeen Ka Safar but it has been taking ages to come. Another joy came when it was released that Sajal Ali will star opposite Ahad Raza Mir in yet another drama serial written by Farhat Ishtiaq and directed by Suno Chanda fame director Ahsan Talish.
The drama will star Adnan Siddiqui as her father, Mira Sethi and Zarnish Khan. This will be for the third time that the duo will play father and daughter. Adnan shared a video on Instagram saying, “I’m in the mountains shooting with Sajal Ali, Mira Sethi, Ahad Raza Mir, Paras Masroor Zarnish Khan & Ahsan Talish (Director). The mountains of Shongran are taking me back to Georgia where Sajal and I shot the final scenes of Mom in a beautiful, snow-capped terrain. I’ve played Sajal’s dad three times now, (Muhabbat Bhaar Mein Jaye, Behadd, Mom, and now this). Mira and I have worked on so many projects together: Jaanam, Uff yey Parosi, Kithay Nain Na Jori, Khushboo ka Safar, and now this. Ahad and I worked in Sammi together, of course. As I sit in my room overlooking the view of the snowy mountains, I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about this serial. My character is unlike anything I’ve done before. I know actors say this all the time but it’s true in my case with this serial. It’s taking a lot of my energy but also giving me the opportunity to sink my teeth into something real and fierce. The serial won’t be out for a while but shooting has begun with a bang. The location is just beautiful — the leaves are green and yellow and red, the wind is crisp and clean, and I’m working with some of my favourite people. More soon.”

Sadia Jabbar who produced Balu Mahi and Good Morning Karachi has ventured into webs space with her new webseries which sheds light on how parents would agree to almost every condition by the boy’s family in order to ‘accept’ their daughter. It lets you ponder on how even in the 21st century, women are considered as the ‘weaker beings’ and makes us realize that it is only us who can bring about a change in the society. It is going to be an honest account of an unabashed reality of the society in which women are still ‘presented’ to their possible in-laws like commodities. We have all gone through at least one ‘Shameless Proposal’ or know of someone who has. This web series, which is one of its kind, sheds light on multiple shameless proposals and tells us what women feel.
It has not been revealed what platform it really is for but the theme has already made us look forward to watching it.
Shaan Shahid is a superstar, there is no doubt. He was doing films when no one else was. He is still doing films when everyone else is making them. His last venture Arth unfortunately could not do well at the box office despite some wonderful performances by the actors. Another film of his Yalghaar, a multi starrer action drama, had not impressed the audience, either. Now he is back with another film which has long been in works. Titled Zarrar, it will star new comer Kiran Malik opposite Shaan Shahid.
Shaan took to his twitter to share the news of his new film Zarrar. He tweeted, “This Independence Day we take an oath to protect and to serve the land of the pure #zarrar.” Well, it is quite a clear hint that the film will release coming independence day. The film is said to be a very fine action thriller with never seen before VFX. While Shaan has done some substandard films in the past, his recent films are made on big budgets with lavish production design.
As it is releasing on the August 14, one can guess it will have Shaan’s favorite subject which is patriotism. Although, there have been enough films on the subject, it would be exciting to see what Shaan has in store for the audiences this time.

She filed an appeal at a Lahore session court earlier this month. It challenged the family’s court decision which had taken place in May of this year stating that she was Attique ur Rehmans wife and the nikahnama was genuine despite her claiming it to be fake . Apparently, court has rejected her appeal as her lawyer did not show up and Attique’s lawyer claimed that it only proves that Meera is his client’s wife and she has no evidence to prove it otherwise.

Chaudhary Aslam Khan is one of the bravest officers we have had in Pakistan. The courageous man fought against terrorism and was martyred by the terrorists in Karachi in 2014. With about an experience of 30 years behind him, he challenged the terrorism prevailing in the biggest city of Pakistan and fought with it without thinking about himself or his own life. With a large number of movies coming out from our industry, biopics are also a popular genre. We have already seen biopics on the lives of boxing champion Hussain Shah and one on the life of Zenith Irfan which was released this year.
Now we will be watching a film based on the life of brave Chaudhary Aslam. Supermodel Zara Abid is the first name who has been finalized for it. This will be Zara’s film debut in the industry. The rest of the cast is also been said to consist of huge names but nothing more is out yet. The film titled Chaudhary will be directed by Azeem Sajjad.
