Ali Haidar on Karachi Mafia’s Hit List

After Sajjal Ali, it is now singer turned actor Ali Haidar, who is given a tough time by the Mafias of Karachi. As per the latest reveals, he has been asked to deliver a huge amount of Rs. 1 Crore in return of his life. The singer has had been receiving threatening calls which finally has forced him to seek help from the police.

Despite of all the instability found in Karachi, the fact persists that this city holds an immense importance in terms of economy of Pakistan. Due to the highly developed and raise life standards here, many of the prominent celebrities are found residing here. It is probably because of this that after businessmen and industrialists in the city, it is now the actors and singers who are now been targeted. While Sajal Ali preferred to shift elsewhere, Ali has acted brave by asking for Police security against this mafia gang.

Richest cities in the world in 2014

See the video below to find more about the news.

This is certainly a shame for not only the government of Karachi but for the federal authorities who are found to act blind even after knowing it all.

Please share your views and experiences about it.

Stay Safe,

Ali Zafar speaking about his interest in Bollywood

0

Not only has Ali Zafar done great work in films but has also shown a positive side of Pakistan to the world.

From becoming the country’s biggest music sensation to making it big in Bollywood with the critically acclaimed Tere Bin Laden and the commercial success of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ali Zafar has always made us Pakistanis proud! Not only has he done great work but he has also shown a positive side of Pakistan to the world. Lets have a short conversation with him about his works and interests in Bollywood films

1 How was the experience of working in LPNY?

We had a lot of fun shooting in three different cities, two of which (London and New York) are world hubs while Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. And since each place had its own charm, that made the whole experience a lot more enjoyable. Now that the film is out and has received appreciation and great reviews, it feels even better to be associated with such a project. Overall, it has been a fantastic experience!

2 Your acting stint in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan was amazing. Do you think you’ve done an equally good job in LPNY?

It’s only my third film and I’m still learning. Whether it’s acting or singing, I like to consider myself a student rather than a master of a particular form of art. Abhishekh Sharma, the director for Tere Bin Laden, thought that this was my best acting so far.

3 LPNY is the first Bollywood movie in which you composed the music too. How was the experience?

It’s slightly different from composing music otherwise but nonetheless very refreshing, memorable and interesting. I love making music so it felt great to keep in touch with my musical side too. When I compose music for my own album, I do whatever I feel like. But in composing music for a film, I had to rely on the framework given and satisfy the entire team, not just myself.

4 Aditi Rao is a newcomer. Were you hesitant in working with her?

We needed a fresh face and Aditi was perfect for the role.

5 How was the experience of working in MBKD different from LPNY?

MBKD was a big scale commercial comedy with Katrina and Imran whereas LPNY is a love story revolving around two people. Also, MBKD targeted the masses and LPNY targets the youth, so both films are very different from each other.

6 Now,  you’ve become a major name in Bollywood. What is the reason behind that?

I think it’s because I work extremely hard around the clock, and with a lot of sincerity and humility. Also, I don’t have any unnecessary biases in my heart.

7 Amitabh Bachchan once tweeted while in hospital, he heard your music and it comforted him. How did that feel?

Appreciation coming from a legend like Amitabh — who is known to appreciate art and someone who is into classical acting and music — felt really good.

8 Do you think there’s a constant pressure on you considering you’re representing our country across the border?

I obviously do think about what people are going to feel like back at home and what they’re going to think but then at the end of the day I really can’t please everyone. So I make it a point to keep my own conscience satisfied. I do what I think is right and hope people like my work.

9 Have you ever felt any bias from the audience, considering they know you’re a Pakistani?

No, I haven’t faced any biases. I’ve been welcomed with an open heart and a lot of appreciation. More than me, it’s the people who are responsible for making me who I am today.

Do you think Ali should give his time to bollywood more or do you want to see him working to improvise the conditions in Pakistan Films ? Drop by your comments and feedback

Pakistan Idol – Week 05!

0

Well another exciting week of Pakistan Idol ended with a few surprises & a few surprising eliminations. A lot of those contestants who seemed promising didn’t do well & were eliminated & sadly I was rooting for quite few of them too but never-mind.

Theater round was divided into 2 levels where in the first stage the contestants had to sing in a form of duos & trios but later as they qualified, they had to perform solo songs. It was amazing to see so many of them who sounded just fine in the auditions do extremely well with the band & then there were those as well who projected their vocals brilliantly but when asked to be singing along the other contestants & with the band, they were awful.

Those who were good but didn’t make through the theater rounds were Asif Hussain, Salman Cecil, Ramzan Ali, Shahid Ali Sonu. I actually thought that most of them would be qualified but may be they didn’t perform that well. Gopal Guddu Ram had strong vocals but I think he lacked concentration & for that he was out of the race. Even though he came up with a lot of excuses but they seemed really vague because given the concentration & the yearning he showed in the beginning, it completely looked like he took the chance for granted. At first he complained about not being able to read the lyrics but I think any one can put a song on the loop to memorize it because it goes without saying that he was participating in Pakistan Idol & then he came up with the say about his Father’s weak health. I think he had a lot of potential but God knows what got into him.

Round two was quite interesting because all the contestants had to sing solely. Sana, Yasir & Omar were all the best buddies & Sana even though her throat was giving her a hard time sang ‘Dil Dharkay’ appropriately. Yasir & Omar sang ‘Rangin Hai Tu’ & both of them weren’t as impressive but still they managed to qualify for the Piano Round along with their friend Sana Zulfikar.

Mehwish Maqsood sang ‘Ishq Sufiyana’ & she was as usual impressive. 4 of the girls Malaika, Ghazal Ali, Nadia Hashmi, Fizza Javed sang ‘Naina’ & all four of them disappointed the judges. I was sad when Ghazal couldn’t make it through because she had that quality in her.

The only contestant who did extremely well in solo round was Syed Ali Asad who sang ‘Pyaar Mujhse Nahi Hai’. Ali Azmat actually commended him for his performance & yeah, he nailed it. I found his performance the best because may be he picked every detail quickly whereas the others kept on struggling. Kashif Ali & Zamad Baig were again friends who sang the same song by Rabbi ‘Tere Bin’ but they did pretty well too & for that they both were through to the piano round.

Judgements session was interesting too but I was disappointed to see Ghazal Ali & Nadia Hashmi eliminated because they both were great. A few other contestants were selected in the top 24 but their names weren’t mentioned. Nazish got qualified but she withdrew from the show because of her personal issues at home & the moment she back out I hoped that the chance was given to Ghazal & it happened. It was a perfect decision made by the judges but I would’ve been more happy if she qualified on her own because she was unique in her own way. I am definitely rooting for Ghazal Ali & Rosemary as they both are amazing & in the guys Syed Ali Asad is definitely impressive.

Have your say at who is your favorite so far & whose elimination disappointed you!
Definitely looking forward to the Piano round this week.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Being A Single Mother

0

Motherhood is the most difficult and yet the job that is the most loved job. This job seems a lot tougher when you are the single mother of your child. Motherhood brings lots of hugs, kisses, laughter and thousands of precious moments. Being a single mother is more than just enjoyment, it is a big challenge. In societies like Pakistan, nowadays due to some space for modernization, single mothers are being accepted by the society whether they are divorced or widowed. People give them respect and honour which was previously not given. This article is for all the single mothers out there. I salute you for your sacrifices, courage and hard work. A single mother has to be the mother and the father of her child at the same time. She must be capable enough to perform the house hold duties, the office duties and also the child’s duties. Single mothers have no day off, they have to work all day in the office and at home and they can not sleep until their child sleeps. She has to work like a machine all the time just for the sake of her child’s better life.

motherBaby_2164044b
They have to raise their child by taking care of him, by letting him know the right and wrong things, by looking after him and much more. They have to see whether he or she is in a good company or not. They have to make him feel that they are always there. There are moments when the child feels the need of a father but at that time you have to let him know that you are always there by his side no matter what. Children can be very demanding and irritating at times. The feelings that they give to their mother are those that no other person can feel. Their funny questions, their drawings everything has a message that only a mother can understand much better than the others. A child will scream if you don’t buy him chocolates, he will run away if you force him to brush his teeth and he will laugh at you when you are all sweaty in the kitchen, at all these times only a mother knows how to treat her child.

120803_DX_singlemomstressedEX.jpg.CROP.rectangle3-large
A single mother spends a lot of time in making her child feel special. She cooks his favourite meal, buys him new toys, leaves him to school, participate in everything he wants but still there is a space left and there is a time when the child asks his mother that all my friends have fathers, where is my father? A very close friend of mine has been through a separation and I know how difficult it is for her to spend her time satisfying her child. Men don’t understand this; if they are given the responsibility of the child only then they will know the perfect meaning and importance of a mother. It is very easy for them to break a relationship but it is always the sacrifice and compromise of the mother. She has to think of thousand things before going for a separation and the man just goes for what he wants to do. A single mother does feel the need of a husband, a father for her child, someone to share things with and most of all someone to share the enchanting moments of their children.

Government-Assistance-For-Single-Mothers
After all the days tiring work, when the child goes to sleep, the mother just lies down and thinks that if she had her partner with her then how would life be? This is the time when she wishes truly to have someone who could take care of her feelings, her tiredness and most of all her tantrums. According to me, couples should not have children if they think that they are not compatible with each other. If a couple is facing problems and they are having fights then they must take measures to either solve the issues or go for a separation before having children. Moreover if they have children, then they must take the option of separation out of their mind. God gives children to see whether the parents raise them well or not and if we fight and get separated then how this will affect he mentality of the children. We must think about the children’s future before making any decision because a couple has this gift of a baby then all their decisions revolve around the baby’s life.

A new multitalented rising star who has set sails to conquer all the challenging arenas, HAA is not only a director, writer, actor, theatre performer but model as well. Though he is equally adept in all the fields his true passion is theatre and filmmaking. HAA a former CSP officer resigned to follow his passion, earned his bachelors’ degree from the US and masters from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad. His sister Dr. Fazeela Abbasi, a dermatologist by profession, has appeared in mornings shows as skin expert. HAA has already made his mark in the domain of theater by giving exceptional and varied performances and is now on his way to pave paths in other media fields.

hamza

Apart from his topnotch theatrical performances his career in filmmaking will hopefully be exceptional similarly. His debut directorial which he authored himself Mud House and the Golden Doll is based on a true character (HAA encountered that Malang in Multan where he grew up), and explored a unique yet intriguing friendship between a Malang and a little girl. The movie on its first screening received a standing ovation from the crowd. However his upcoming flick Kambakht a comedy is already in process of earning him a label of versatile director as well. Featuring HAA, Shehyar Munawar Siddique, Saba Qamar and Sohai Ali Abro, Kambakht is expected to be released in early 2014.

HAA didn’t make a good impression by his first Tv. appearance in the Umang Lassi ad particularly because of the annoying ad, but later ads and his debut play Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Milay on the other hand showed the spark for acting on screen as well. Pyaare Afzal has captured true talents of HAA as an accomplished actor whose near-to-life acting is receiving loads of appreciation and critical acclaim. His performances in Waar, MHSA and MHGD received loads of critical appreciation. His diverse roles in theater, drama and film and his directorial ventures though few in number are more than enough to prove is flawless acting and versatility, he has earned same degree of fame on ramp as well.

Best wishes for HAA on his voyage and I hope he keeps steering his ship flawlessly in future too!

The Colour Black

0

Black is a very neutral color and it is my personal favorite because it usually goes with everything. In this article I am going to describe the black color and its advantages. Black is a very flattering color and it is really very trendy. Usually if you have a black tight it will go with almost any top may it be of any color. In the same way if you have a black coat, you can wear it on any colored sweater and jeans. I have black colored boots and they almost go with any dress I wear so they are my personal favorites. Another wonderful advantage of black dresses is that they usually give you a slimmer and a fashionable look. Black is in fashion since 1920 and till now its popularity has not faded. Many designers love to use black in their collections and this is why no wardrobe is considered complete if black is not present there. Black color is best for all kinds of skin tones. It usually makes darker girls look attractive and fair girls look fairer.

Reserved-Spring-Summer-2013-Collections-2
There are so many ways to use black in your every day routine. Black is worn as T shirts, sleeveless shirts, tank tops and many other sorts of dresses. As winter is at its peak, black fur coats and shawls give you an elegant look. In the office black colored trousers, skirts and coats give a classy look. The biggest plus point of black is that it works on every fabric. May it be cotton, silk, wool or any other stuff black is something that is never missed. Black leather coats and tops are very in fashion these days. They give you a fashionable dazzling look. People usually wear black alone but I will suggest a mix and match outfit. You can often add up some colors with black. I used the highlighter pink and yellow with black a lot in summers as it is a great combination. Apart from this a green or navy blue shirt goes well with black jeans. Black sequins and embroidery looks great on any colored dress. So for weddings a simple hot pink long dress with black embroidery looks fabulous. It dazzles every other person.

Most people term black as the color of mourning but I do not agree with this. I have seen beautiful wedding dresses with black combinations and the brides who wear that look absolutely stunning. The repetition of black in the fashion trends is the evidence to support my thought that it is definitely not the color of the mourning. Black is usually worn by all sorts of people; kids, teens, elderly people, rich and poor etc. For all that, the intriguing thing about wearing black is that it can mean whatever you want it to; sexy or elitist, religious or seductive. It is a very adjusting color and this is what makes it this popular. Black is considered to be a pure color this is why it is highly adaptable as it is. No changes or transformation is required. It is the color of the poets and the writers, this shows that it is the choice of highly intellectual people.

black-fashion-3
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana say that black is a supreme color and it is the sum of all colors. Mediterranean beauty is depicted through the color black. Apart from all this black is a convenient color. People look good in black this is why they find it better than the other colors. It makes fatter people look thinner which they consider as a miracle. Black color hides stains; this is a wonderful house hold color as well. For women who do the house holds stuff, black is the best choice because mostly stains do not get much prominent on this color. A professor of fashion says that the color black shows two different things, on one hand every one looks different in it and on the other hand it is a uniform.

black-dress-with-leopard-pumps-and-turquoise-jewelr4y
Gold is when mixed with black, a wonderful combination is made. In fact all metallic colors look extremely gorgeous with black. Even if you only wear a black hat, your whole looks change. A vintage look is created which makes you look different. Colorful accessories with black can create magic. More over leopard and cheetah print goes very well with black and makes it double trendy. If you know how to wear black as a color then you are going to rock believe me it is fabulous.

Do you want to grease yourself with “Grease” ?

0

Bringing the razzmatazz back to theatres in January is Nida Butt’s Made-For-Stage Productions with their rendition of Grease. We all remember Grease, of course: a raunchy John Travolta and a doe-eyed Olivia Newton John crooning all the way through their high school romance until they drive happily away into the sunset. Grease was your typical teen romance peppered with fabulous songs – and John and Olivia certainly knew how to shake a leg to them. Now imagine the magic reenacted on a stage before you, with live music, well-choreographed dancing and a very good-looking ensemble cast. It promises to be a musical extravaganza, right up Made-For-Stage’s alley. Better yet, it’s all very official, this time around.

“We bought the copyrights for Grease before we decided to show it on stage,” says Nida. “It’s very easy to just pick up the script of a popular Western musical and show it at a theatre without getting permission from the original creators. So far, theatre groups in Pakistan have managed to evade legal action but that still doesn’t make it right. The copyrights to Grease were very expensive. The movie has a cult following and the Theatre Rights Worldwide organization refused to allow concessions on its price. Still, I really wanted to bring the musical to stage – and to go about it legally.”

Was she helped in paying the hefty fees by the multinational sponsors that have inevitably played a major role in spurring Pakistani theatre on? “No, we paid it completely by ourselves. We do hope to make profits or at least break-even by the help of sponsors, though,” she laughs.

Does this mean that ticket prices will be expensive? Unfortunately, they just might be although Nida is yet to get down to the nitty-gritties.

Still, getting copyrights is a precedent that Nida has set – not just for other thespians but also for herself. Barring the original Karachi that she put out two years ago, her earlier musical productions Mamma Mia and Chicago were both ‘borrowed’ without permission and shown to packed houses locally. “When we staged Chicago, the company that holds the play’s copyrights contacted us via e-mail, asking us why we hadn’t asked for permission. When we explained that we were working in conjunction with a charity, they allowed us to continue. The same thing happened with Mamma Mia. It made me realize that the world is now a global village where everything is laid out in the open via the Internet. Even when staging a Broadway musical to a limited audience in Pakistan, it is important to obtain copyrights.”

The copyrights also enable Made-For-Stage to take Grease further, if they want. “We can set our sights at newer audiences, a place like Dubai, perhaps,” says Nida. “Provided that the play is successful during its initial run in Karachi, of course.”

If Nida’s earlier musicals are anything to go by, Grease looks exciting. The stage is set for some ‘Greased Lightning’ with Ayesha Omer in the lead as the love struck Sandy, Sanam Saeed – who’s become quite a regular feature in Nida’s plays – as the tongue-in-cheek Rizzo and Islamabad-based Ahmed Ali as our swaggering hero. “Ahmed has acted in theatre before but this is the first time he’s worked with us,” says Nida. “He has incredible diversity.” Sanam Saeed, of course, has become quite a regular feature in Nida’s plays. Ayesha Omar who has never really stood out for her TV roles despite the success of Bulbulay may just floor us on the stage as the singing-dancing Sandy. It’ll be interesting to see her sing live, especially since she’s won a Lux Style Award for ‘Best Singer’ this year – an accolade which was heavily critiqued since her album didn’t exactly skyrocket amongst the masses.

There’s going to be a live orchestra sitting right next to the stage, typically of Made for Stage – unlike other theatre groups, they refuse to just pop in a CD in order to churn out a musical. With Nida’s husband and Coven lead Hamza Jafri playing music director and vocal coach and Nida co-choreographing the dances with Abdul Ghani, there’s a hugely talented entourage working on this production. True, there won’t be any of the ‘Pakistaniat’ that one has grown to relish in the plays orchestrated by the other mainstream theatre group in the country – Kopykat Productions spearheaded by Dawar Mehmood with scripts by Anwar Maqsood – but Grease isn’t making any professions towards nationalism in the first place. It is, simply, a musical odyssey emulating the glamourama of Broadway onto the Pakistani stage – a niche that Made for Stage has certainly carved for itself.

Yet it’s been nearly two years since Nida put out her last musical, Karachi. Why the long sabbatical? “We stayed busy with smaller non-musical productions, like Carnage and The Pillowman,” she says. “It takes time to conceptualize and then orchestrate a large-scale musical.”

And while her efforts to gain copyrights are admirable, why didn’t she opt to stage another original, like Karachi The Musical? “I want to keep bringing diversity to theatre,” says Nida. “I do plan to produce more original musicals in the future but I also absolutely love Grease I just had to bring it to stage.”

Let us know how anxiously are you waiting for “GREASE”

Mein kabhi model nahin ban-na chahti thi… fareeha altaf nay zindagi ko hamesha apnay mutabiq jiya hai

Yeh zyada puran baat nahin jab parhi likhi larkiyion nay modeling kay shobay mein sirf masnoo-aat ki tash-heer say nikal kar advertising kay shobay mein apni salahi-ton kay izhaar kay liye jaga banana shru kar di aur phir apnay art say modeling dress designing, makeup aur styling ko fashion industry ka darja dilanay ki taraf safar shru kar diya ussi zamany mein art aur zihanat kay imtizaaj say aik naam nay fashion ki dunya mein apni aik munfarid pehchan banayee is mein qatayee koi shauk nahin kay fareeha altaf ko muasharti, siqafti aur mazhbi beshumaar rukawatain phalaang kar apni shinakht kay khadokhaal wazaih karnay paray. Lekin aaj fariha altaf fashion industry ka aik aisa sange meel ban chuki hain jissay dekh kar fashion ki raah chalnay waalon ko sahih simat ka pata chalta hai

Bachpan kay who din

Mera bachpan bhi baqi bachon ki tarah hi tha. Hum chaar behan bhayee hain do bhayee aur do behnain meray aik bhayee ka intiqaal kuchh saal pehlay huwa yeh sadma meray liye dukh aur ehsas kin a khatam honay waali kefiyat ko meray andar kucch is tarah peda kar gaya aur mujhey mehsoos huwa kay apnon say bicharna kis qadar azeeyat naak hota hai . meray abu choonkay airlines mein mulazmat kartay thay isliye bachpan ka zyada tar hisa unkay sath dunya ki sair kartay guzra. Mera apnay behan bhaiyon kay saath rishta bohat mazboot aur pyara rishta tha. Mujhay yaad hai bachpanmein hum behan bhayee chhupan chhupayee aur oonch neech jesay khail khela kartay thay mujhey aaj bhi yaad hai mein bachpan mein isqadar pur etmaad nahin thi jitni pur aitmaad aaj nazar aati hoon. Mein nay the convent of jesus and marry aur Karachi grammer school say ibtadayee taaleem ghaasil ki. Mera school hamesha meray saath saath rehta tha kyonkay meray school nay meri shakhsiyat banana mein aham kirdaar ada kiya . is kay baad America say graduation kiaur phir kayee saal baad Canada say fashion designing mein diploma bhi haasil kiya

Waledain kay saath rishta

Meri walida aik gharelo khatoon aur bohat hi pyar karnay waali aurat thi- mein shru say apni maan kay zyada qareeb thi magar meri shakhsiyat mein meray waalikd ka rang zyada numayan hai. Mein apnay waalid ki carbon copy hoon. Meray waalid bohat zabardast insaan thay jinhain logon ki madad karna achha lagta tha aur unhain khelon say bhi khaas lagao tha. Shayed khelon ka show mujhey apnay waalid sahib say wirsay mein mila hai. Magar mein nay ghar chalanay aur bachonn ki dekh bhal hamesha apni maan kay asoolon ki pervi ki hai. Meri maan bhi nihayat humdard khatoon thi. Career women honay kay bawjood mein aik gharelo khatoon hon jo apnay bachon kay baghair nahin reh sakti

Modeling mien kesay aayee?

Mein kabhi bhi model nahin ban-na chahti thi. Meri khwahish thi mein aik artist banon isliye mien nay art ki taaleem bhi haasil kit hi. Aik art gallery mein meri mulaqat saira shah say huwi jo aik mash-hoor magazine ki editor then aur mujh say poochnay lageen kay kiya tum model ban-na chahti ho? Chonkay modeling meray liye koi naya lafz nahin tha meri behan jo shadi shuda hai who bhi uswaqt modeling kar rahi thi balkay mera bhai aur behnoi bhi modeling kar rahay thay isliye mujhey is mein koi burayee nazar nahin aaye lahaza mein nay foran haan kar di. Meray khayal mein har orat ko naye aur khoobsorat libaas pehan-nay aur tasveerain banwanay ka shoq hota hai. Mujh mein bhi yeh shoq mojood tha isliye mujhey yeh offer bohat hi porkashish lagi

Modeling kay baad kiya huwa…?

Yeh 1989 ki baat hai jab mein modeling kay saath saath aik advertising agency mein mulazmat bhi kar rahi thi yeh who waqt tha jab mein modeling say khush nahin thi. Is zamany mein aik waqt aisa aaya jab mujhey paison ki zaroorat thi. Mein nay apnay doston say zikar kiya to aik dost nay mujhey mashwara diya kay tum aik fashion show organize karo aur uski ticktain bech kar pesay kama lena. Iss waqt modeling ki field bilkul naee thi aur fashion shows to huwa hi nahin kartay thay. Maheen khan jo meri dost bhi thi us nay mujhey kaha kay kyon na hum milkar aik fashion show organize karain? Mujhey paison ki zaroorat thi isliye mashwara pasand bhi aaya chunanchay mein nay offer qabool kar li. Yeh itna aasan kaam hargiz nahin tha. Sab say pehlay mein aik concept tbanaya kyonkay is waqt koi bhi event company kaam nahin kar rahi thi aur meri khwahish thi kay mein koi munfarid kaam karon. Iskay baad mein nay tarbiyat yaafta aur tajruba logon ki talaash kar di. Badqismati say is waqt is field mein tarbiyat yaafta log thay hi nahin.. mein nay pirzada family say , jo is waqt Karachi mein muqeem thi, sound or music kay liye khidmat haasil keen. Tapu javeri us waqt fotografer to nahin tha magar who meray school kay zamanay ka dost tha aur uskay paas behtreen music ka aik khazana tha. Mein nay apnay event ki mosiqi kay liye tapu ki khidmat haasil keen. Phir apnay aik architect dost say show ka set banwaya mein nay bohat hi professional andaaz mein kaam kiya tha. Meri lagan aur soch nay usaay aik munfarid aur yaadgaar show bana diya. Mujhey yaad hai kay uss zamanay mein humara fashion shows ki mosiqi ki 500 cassetain biki then. Fashion show kay liye hair styling aur make up tariq amen nay kiya woh fashion show meray liye sange meel ki hesiyat rakhta hai jis mein fashion, choreography aur modeling sab kuchh tha aur yeh sab zia dor mein kiya gaya tha jub hum usaay fashion show ka naam bhi nahin day saktay thay isliye hum nay usaay aik saqafti show ka naam diya. Is fashion show kay baad mujhey kayee bari companiyon say event organize karnay ki offes aayen. Mein nay conference, theatre, drama aur har tarah ka event munaqid karwaya. Us zamany mein ad agencies anay clients kay event organize karti then. Jinkay paas na to achhay ideas hotay thay naa hi tajarba kaar log chunachay mein nay catwalk production kay naam say apni company bana li. Mujhey yeh aizaz haasil hai kay tamam baray fashion designers ka pehla fashion show yaani launching show mein nay hi munaqid karwaya hai jin mein sana safinaz, maheen, seemi, nomi ansar aur karma shaamil hain

Kal aur aaj ki model mein farq

Humaray zamany mein modeling sirf shoq aur mashghala thi aur hum mehaz peson kayliye kaam nahin kar rahay they. Us waqt modeling aik nayee au munfarid field thi aur hum bohat dilchaspi say kaam kiya kartay they. Apnay zyada tar shots kay liye makeup bhi mein kud hi kiya karti thi. Aaj jo log fashion industry per chhaye huway hain us waqt who sab log kaamshru kar rahay thay. Aksar models ko makeup aur styling kay liye tariq amin aur nabeela kay paas bheja jaata tha us waqt is field mein sab naye log kaam kar rahay thay isliye sab mein sachayee, emandaari aur lagan thi. Us waqt log aik soch aur vision kay saath kaam kar rahay they. Paisay ki hawas kam thi log kaam kay mayaar ko ahmiyat detay thay. Sab models time per set per aati then sirf pesay ki khaatir kisi bhi gher mayaari magazine kayliye kaam nahin karti theen kam az kam mein aisa nahin karti thi mein bohat soch samajh kar aur bohat makhsoos logon kay saath kaam karti thi apni pasand ka fashion designer, makeup, photographer aur magazine bhi . mein nay apnay modeling career mein sirf teen magazine kay cover page kayliye kaam kiya hai. Isi tarah haseena moin kay aik drama mein acting ki aur bohat mayaari brands kay ishtiharaat mein kaam kiya iskay ilaawa 7 ya 8 tv ishtiharaat bhi mehaz peson kay liye kiye. Meray liye kaam ka mayaar zyada aham tha mein kissi ghair mayaari kaam ka hisaa nahin ban-na chahti thi magar aaj sab kuchh badal chukka hai models ki pehli tarjih sirf pesa hai.

Trend setter

Mujhey naye tajarbuaat karnay ka bohat shoq hai. Main nay apni zindagi aur field mein bohat say kaam pehli dafa kiya jo phir trend ban gaye. Jesay mein nay junoon group ki pehli music video heer bhi banayee thi. Hum subah 3 bajay uthh kar shooting kay liye nikal jaata . shooting kay liye kissi pursakoon farm ki talaash bhi aik mushkil kaam thaa. Magar mein nay yeh video baghair kisi muawzay kay mehaz dosti ki khaatir banayee. Issi tarah vital signs kay liye pehla music concert bhi kiya jiskay liye hotel mein beth kar 150 tickets mein khood bechi theen. Yeh tamam kaam aur tajarubaat aaj bhi itnay hi dilchasp aur dilkash hain magar uswaqt yeh sab kuchh meray liye bohatnaya tha. Mein sab kuch bohat munfarid andaaz mein karna chahti thi jesay us zamany mein venue show karnay ka riwaaj hi nahin thaa magar mein apnay har show kay liye anokhi location dhoonda karti thi. Wesay mein aik show railway station per bhi munaqid karwa chuki hoon. Issi tarah aik tareekhi amarat hindu gymkhana mujhey bohat mutaasir karti thi. Jo bohat buri haalat mein thia aur jhaariyon aur paudon nay uski saari khobsoorti chhupa raki thi. Mein jab bhi wahan say guzarti to socha karti thi kay kitni khobsoorat imaarat hai aik din mein is imaarat mein gayee aur unsay ijazat li kay mein is imaarat ki halat darust karna chahti hoon. Mujhey aaraam say yeh ijazat mil gayee. iskay baad mein nay apnay issi architect dost ko saath liya jis nay meray pehlay fashion kay how ka set banaya tha aur hum nay tareekhi virsa ki hifazat ki soch kay saath kaam shru kar diya. Sab say pehlay humnay jhariyaan aur pauday saaf kiye phir poori imaarat k paint kiya aur usko aam logon kay liye khol diya. Jab log is imaarat ko dekhnay aaye sab heraan reh gaye kay yeh kitni khoobsorat aur tareekhi imaarat hai. Media nay is imarat ki tasveerain khenchi aur aglay din har akhbar mein is imaarat ki khoobsurti aur roshniyon ka zikar tha aur yeh bhi kay aisay tareekhi virsa ki hifazat karna chahiye. Mujhay aik tareekhi virsa hifazat ka ehsas hamesha tawaana rakhti hai.

Meri sab say bari kamyabi

Mein 20 saal say is field say wabasta hoon. In 20 saalaon mein sab say mushkil daur who that jab mein nay is field mein qadam rakha tha. Yeh who daur tha jab log modeling ko bohat napasand kartay thay. Meray sab dost bhi kehnay laga fareeha tum kiya kar rahi ho tumhari bold tasveerainhar pan shop per lagi hon gee. Aisay waqt mein jab muashray kay saath saath apkay dost bhi aapkay muntakhib karda raastay ki mukhalfat karnay lagain. Us waqt apnay raastay aur soch per qayem rehna bohat mushkil hota hai . is muskil daur mein modeling karna meri sab say bari kamyabi hai aur yehi meri industry mein sab say bari contribution bhi hai hum logon nay mukhalfit ka saamna kiya magar kam jaari rakha aur aaj fashion industry ko iss muqaam per pohnchanay kay liye hum sab logon nay bohat mushkil wat dekha hai. Abto larkiyon kay liye fashion industry mein aana bohat aasan ho gaya hai. Aksar larkiya mujhey milti hain to batati hain kay who magazine mein tasveer dekh kar mujh jesa ban=na chahti hai isliye who is field mein aayee hain.

Meri shaadi shuda zindagi

Meri shaadi do baar huwee magar meri donon shaadiyan nakaam raheen.  jis waqt mein Canada mein thi us waqt mein nay doosri shaadi ki meray do bachay hain. Issi doraan mein nay fashion designing mein diploma haasil kiya iss kaay saath mein aik modeling institute mein parha bhi rahi thi. Meri zindagi mein sab theek tha magar apnay shohar kay saath mera taluqaat theek nahin they lihaaza hum nay alehda honay kaa faisla kar liya

Phir shaadi kyon nahin ki

Meray paas shaadi kay baaray mein sochnay kay liye time nahin tha. Mein apnay bachon ki parvarish taaleem aur apni kamayee kay baray mein soch rahi thi. Jabkay pehlay say haasil talkh tajrubay ki bina par ab meray paas mardon kay baray mein sochnay ka time hi nahin hai

Ideal aadmi

Aaj tak meri mulaqat ideal mard say nahin huwi, meray nazdeek aik ideal aadmi who hai jo aqalmand, mature aur pur aitmad ho aisa insaan jis say mein baat kar sakoon. Mein bohat aasani say logon say mutaasir nahin hoti. Mein samajhti hoon kay sat-hi soch aur sat-hi batain amli zindagi kay liye daldal kay mutraadif hain

Akele zindagi guzarna mushkil

Haan akelay zindagi guzarna mushkil to tha magar muhey yeh safar is hawalay say aasan bhi laga kay meri zindagi mein koi mard nahin jo meri zindagi kay faislay karta. Meinnay apni zindagi apnay asoolon kay mutabiq guzaari apnay sab faislay khud kiye. Mein khush qismat thi kay meray sath meri waalida mojood theen unki duwaoon nay zindagi ko khobsoorat banaye rakha. Mera aik bhai aur behan bhi thi magar meri maan nay meray saath rehnay ka faisla kiya. Meri sab say bari khushi meray bachay hain. Apni zindagi mein khush rehna bhi itni bai kamyabi hai jitna kay apni zindagi apnay mutabiq jeena. Meri zindagi ki daur meray apnay haath mein hai mein kisi ki mohtaaj nahin hoon aur yehi meri kamyabi hai . mera beta tarhaan 17 saal ka aur beti parishay 16 saal ki hai. Meray donon bachay bohat samajhdaar aur takhleeqi salahiton kay maalik hain. Mein unko apnay kaam mein bhi shaamil kar ti hoon meray bachay meri dunya hain.

Unheroic Heroes

0

Gone are the days when we had perfect, flawless heroes whose actions and characteristics defined them as heroes. With influence of modern age and then the postmodern, like every conventional ideal and notion, the ideologies of an idealized hero were also questioned and we were presented we heroes who were ordinary individuals, who truly represented the masses instead of the privileged few but despite being ordinary they were and are worthy to be called heroes. Pakistani industry has had a bulk of ideal, perfect heroes, ordinary-perfect heroes, ordinary-flawed yet equally heroic heroes as well. However the heroes we encounter now seem more antiheroes, they aren’t necessarily villainous but lack of any constructive characteristics, persona and will categorizes them as sidekicks rather than heroes.

1. Pir Shahab (Aseer Zadi)

Pir Shahab not only lacks determination and intelligence, he is also kind of effeminate. Without giving a second thought to any issue which will obviously involve his abilities, intelligence and working of mind he blindly believes whatever he is told by anyone. For example Fatima told her Bhari Sarkar don’t want to go with him or even meet him, she left her house because of Maira etc. Shahab belived every single word without questioning or using his mind. First Amna’s accusation, then Pir Jalal told him Maira is unfaithful to him; he again decided not to use his intelligence which he obviously doesn’t have. Pir Shahab is perhaps the most inconsistent and unreliable hero. Not to mention his honeymoon with Maira where he seemed to having the time of the world, but suddenly took a 180 degree turn after the honeymoon was over and realized the looming danger which he somehow had forgotten for two days :P

2. Arham (Mujy Khuda Pe Yaqeen Hai)

Arham is more of a crybaby than hero, whose only purpose is complaining, searching for a shoulder to cry on rather than face the situation manly. Instead of remedying and letting go the past issues he is needlessly obsessed with them. Other than that he most of the times seems bewildered without any knowledge about anything whatsoever with sole purpose of complaining, shouting and crying like a woman.

3. Aaliyan (Asmaano Pe Hai Likha)

Another hero who has deficiencies of strong resolve, will, his view-point, the courage to stick to his point of view and above all self-respect. The way Natasha treats him and his response “baby, baby listen” further deteriorates his image rather than portraying him as kind hearted and sympathetic. Even the sympathetic aspect of his personality hardly invokes feelings for him. He too lacks the essential ingredients of a hero be even a flawed one.

Azfal (Pyaare Afzal) is a flawed individual yet his characteristics define him as one of the most endearing heroes now days. He is not kindhearted, weak-willed, contradictory and effeminate (till now) like the above mentioned ones, yet inspite of his failings and shortcomings he incurs awwws and awes from viewers.

Interview content in roman urdu

Moomal Sheikh

Nazuk khadokhaal ki haamil adakara aur model momal sheikh showbiz ki cham-chamati dunya mein aik khobsurat izafa hain. Who basilayehat funkaar javed sheikh ki sahibzaadi hai apnay waalikd ko behtareen adakar maanti hain, lekin waalid ka sahara lekar naam nahin banana chahteen, balkay apnay talent kay bal per aagay barhnay ki khawahish rakkhti hain, guzishta dinon hum nay moomal sheikh say aik mulaqat ki jiss mein unhon nay saadgi kaay saath intinahyee khoobsoorat guftugu ki, jo paish e khidmat hai

Q:  showbiz mein kesay aanay huwa, kahin waalid sahib to iss field mein aanay per raazi nahin kiya

MS:na hi abu nay kaha na hi mein nay kabhi socha tha showbiz field join karon gi lekin qismat phhir bhi iss taraf lay aayee. Mujhay log shakal o soorat ki wajah say aksar kaha kartay thay kay mein modeling karoon lekin mein nay kabhi iss baat per tawajah nahin dee thi. Taahu shadi kay baad showbiz join karnay ki umang dil mein jaagi to mein nay apnay shohar sey ijaazat maangi unhon nay razamandi ka izhaar kar diya yoon mein nay kaam ka baqayeda aaghaz kar diya. Isliye naa is mein abu ka israr huwa na hi meri koi planning

Toon yeh silsila chal nikla. Abhi tak paanch telefilms, aik sitcom aur chhay serials kay ilawa mutadid modeling assignments kar chuki hoon. Aur yeh sab kaam sirf mujhay khud apni wajah say mila hai. Baray baray funkaron kay bachay is field mein sirf isliye nakaam ho jaatay hain kay unhain apni salaheyton say zyada apnay waledain kay taluqat per bharosa hota hai to is silsilay mein yehi kahon gi, screen per kissi say kuchh chhpa nahin reh sakta , aap jo bhi hain sab ko nazar aa jaata hai. Isliye yeh kehna ghalat ho gaa kay yahan kisi taaluq kayliye koi kissi ki hosla afzayee karta hai. Mujhey khud yeh soch kar achha lagta hai kay meray waalid ki is field mein izzat hai lekin kabhi unkay taaluqat ko istimal nahin kiya haan lekin log unki wajah sey izzat kartay hain.

Q: filmon mein kaam karnay kay hawalay say kiya iraday hain

MS: jahan tak filmon mien kaam karnay ki baat hai to mera filhal filmon mein kaam karnay ka irada nahin hai mustaqbil ka kuch keh nahin sakti. Kyonke mujhay laga hai ab kuchh behtar filmain ban-na shru huyee hain lekin jaisi routine mein ban rahi hain un mein kaam karnay ka mera hosla nahin hai.

Q: pasandida funkar konsay hain

MS: mein nay har aik kay kaam ko dekh kar kuchh na kuchh seekha hai . har funkar ki apni ahmiyat hoti hai . mein career kay iss mor per nahin hoon jahan kisi kay kaam per tanqeed kar sakoon kyonke abhi to mujhey bohat saara kaam seekhna aur aagay jaana hai. Isliye itnay bhi saathi iswaqt tv industry mein apni jaga bana chukay hain who qabil tareef hain aur dunya bhar mein hamaray tv kay funkaron ko siraha jata hai.

Q: aapkay nazdeek husan aur khobsorti kay mayar kiya hai

MS: insaan agar andar say khobsorat aur khush mizaj hai to meray nazdeek yehi asal khoobsorti hai. Aap ka chehra aur husan jitna qudrat kay qareeb ho ga utna hi aap haseen hon gay, mein nay logon ko haseen honay ki khwahish mein paaglon ki tarah koshishain kartay dekha hai lekin mera yaqeen hai khuda nay hum sab ko hi khoobsorat banaya hai isliye agar zaahir ki bajaye baatin ko chamkayen to zyadah behtri aa sakti hai.

Q: doosron ki shakhsiyat mein kis cheez say mutaasir hoti hain

MS: achhi guftugo muhay mutaasir karti hai. Zahanat aur aqal saamnay waalay ki guftugu say hi zaahir hoti hai

Q: aayenah dekhnay kay baad aik soch jo hamesha aati ho

MS: yehi soch aati hai kay khuda nay achhi shakal o soorat di hai

Q: kiya is sach ko jhutlaya jaa sakta hai kay Pakistan ki faishon , tv ya fashion industry per Indian culture kay saaye hain

MS: bilkul sahih hai humari industry per Indian culture kay saaye hain. Mein khud is baat say mutafiq hoon. Hum unkay andaz mein pehan-nay, aurhnay aur jeenay ka andaz dikhanay mein fakhar mehsoos kartay hain , humaray gharon ka nizam bhi ussi siqafat say mutaasir hota jar aha hai. Bohat say channels to chal hi issi agenday per rahay hain kay pata hi nahin chalta kay kahan say humari had khatam hoti hai aur unki shru ho jaati hai, lekin sirf bura kaam nahin ho raha hai, hum bohat sanjeeda naweeyat kay takhliqi dramay bhi bana rahay hain to woh logon ko yaad reh jaatay hain. Humain yeh yaad rakhna ho ga kay hum Pakistani hain, humari pehchan alag hai jisay Indian culture mein zam karnay mein jumain khatra hai

Q: dunya kay funkar mukhtalif mulkon mein kaam kar rahay hain ,humaray funkar is moqa say fayeda nahin uthha patay. Is ki kiya wajah hai

MS: kyonke humaray haan funkaron ko yahan kaam hi nahin milta to who apnay aap ko kesay polish kar kay bayenul iqwami satah per mutaarif karwa saktay hain. Yeh aik sanjeeda masla hai jin logon nay yahan behtreen kaam kiya, unhon nay baahir bhi apna aap manwa liya. Humaray paas bohat si aisi roshan masalin bhi hain. Isliye humain sanjeedgi say yahan mowaqeh peda karnay ki zaroorat hai. Takay hum bayenul iqwami satah per apnay funkaron ko mutaarif karwa sakain

Q: apni zindagi ki kamyabi kiya samjhti hain

MS: mein abhi uss manzil say door hon jahan mein yeh keh sakoon kay mein kamyab ho gayee hoonk kamyabi kay hasool kayliye koshaN hoon

Q: kiya humaray funkaro kay liye training academy ki zaroorat hai

MS: bilkul bohat zyada zaroorat hai, kyonke dunya bhar mein funkar training kay zariye apni khamiyon per qabu paa letay hain  humain bhi jald ya badair aisay idaray banana parain gay. Is kaam mein taakheer ki wajah say humara bohat saara talent zaaya ho raha hai

Q: aapkay waalid apki mashwaron yaah tanqeed say nawaztay hain yaa nahin

MS: meray waalid sahib kabhi bhi meray kaam per asar andaaz nahin hotay. Mujhey abhi tak jitna bhi kam mila hai apnay talent kay bal botay per mila hai. Mera bhai aur mein jo bhi kar rahay hain apni madad aap kay tehat kar rahay hain. Abu nay kabhi kisi kay paas ja kar humaray liye sifarish nahin ki aur na hi who sifarish per yaqeen rakhtay hain unka kehna kay talent ko sifarish ki zaroorat nahin hoti. Jahan tak acting tips ki baat hai to unhon nay kabhi acting tips nahin deen haan meri waalida mera aur meray bhai kaa kaam ghor say dekhti hai aur batati bhi hain kay kahan behtari ki jaa sakti hai aur mazeed behtari kesay mumkin hai. Sab jaantay hain meray waalid aik bohat hi manjhay huway funkar hain is hawalay say dekha jaye to hum donon behan bhaiyon say kuchh ghair maamoli perform karnay ki tawaqa ki jaati hai . yoon hur assignment humaray liye aik imtihan hoti hai hum apnay waalik kay paye kay adakar to shayed na bun sakain lekin unkay bachay honay kay naatay hum per aik bhaari zimadari aayed hoti hai . baaqii jitna bhi kaam mil raha hai poori lagan aur mehnat kay saath kar rahi hoon

Q: shohar ki taraf say kabhi pabandi kaa saamna karna para

MS: kabhi bhi nahin, koi bhi orat shohar kay tuawun kay baghair ghar say baahir kaam nahin kar sakti, mein nay jesay pehlay hi bataya kay mein kaam ka aaghaz shaadi kay baad kiya hai to zaahri baat hai kay shohar ki khoshi aur marzi kay saath mein is field mein hoon

Q: future planning kiya hai

MS: munfarid kaam karna chahti hoon. Apni shinakht banana hai. Abhi filmon mein kaam karnay kay hiwalay say koi irada nahin hai lekin agar mustaqbil mein achhay kaam ki offer hoyee to dekhon gi.

Jhootha – Mathira on her new video

0

While most of us do not like talking about her we must have definitely come across the viral video of hers with a 12-year old kid Arbaz Khan. So far the video titled “Jhootha” has earned for itself uncountable likes and shares over the social media which has sparkled the success of it.

“It’s a nice, lovable and cute video and there is nothing chichora (cheap) about it,” This is what mathira has to say about the video and she completely neglects the negative perception which has arisen from public on her video.

Mathira may sound shocked by what she likes to call a ‘strange’ response from the public, but the negative response has more to do with her cosying up to a 12-year-old than anything else. One might find the featuring of the young boy as a gimmick to get the attention, but Mathira believes that it’s just cute.

“What if a kid is praising me in a cute fashion?” she asks her critics.“What’s wrong with a young boy coming up to you and saying that you are so beautiful? After all, appreciation does come in many forms.”

She shared the concept behind the video, which was about a young fan that accidentally runs into Mathira, and starts praising her in his own way. Arbaz Khan is an upcoming rapper signed up by the same record label as Mathira, Beyond Records. Mathira believes Arbaz, who wrote all the lyrics himself, is a very talented musician and has done a great job.

“More than promoting new talent, it was an honour for me and Arbaaz to perform alongside one another, and haters will hate no matter what I do” she says.

The memes popping are mainly critical of Mathira’s wardrobe, deeming it to be vulgar.

“This is where the Pakistani double standard comes in,” she scoffs.

“What’s wrong with a kid being featured in a video along with a girl in a jumpsuit, when every other kid in Pakistan has listened to songs which are ten times more vulgar, such as Candy Shop.”

Mathira strongly believes that people tend to mix culture with entertainment, something that she had to argue about when she started her career as a late night show, and continues to do so with this video.

“We should not mix media and entertainment with culture. Media is flashy, glamorous and fake, so let be like that!”

We all know that the young lady does know how to remain in the lime light of the industry. She also contributed in an Indian Film performing an item number, then she also got hold of an Indian advertisement which also became a subject of concern in our industry but she is brave enough to fight with all and similarly she does with it too – The new video of hers with a kid

We wish her good luck and expect her to come with something  SENSIBLE, the next time which doesn’t at least get covered with controversies

Let us know whether you have also seen the video and do write to us about your take on her video’s popularity

Most Prominent Pakistani Celebrities and Their Sketches!

0

The first sketch you plan to draw after learning sketching, is of your favorite celebrity most of the time. If you are into sketching or painting, this post might be an interesting stuff to share your experiences too. Here are 5 of my most favorite Pakistani celebrities and their pencil sketches (made by their fans) who are followed by a huge audience for their acting and singing these days.

Have a look!

1)Hamza Ali Abbasi

1510597_833814729977921_1254886828_n

2013 has had been really lucky for him as it was only last year that Hamza Ali Abbasi turned into a real famous star in terms of his acting and direction. He is currently seen in drama serial Pyaray Afzal after earning much of fame for his acting in Waar and MHSA. The sketch above has a little room for improvement but still, he can easily be recognized.

2)Atif Aslam

atif aslam

Atif’s fans are just uncountable and so are the tributes given by them. It is nothing new to have seen such a sketch appearing on internet. In fact, there are a couple of even better sketches of Atif which are made by his fans.

3) Bilal Khan

Bilal Khan‘Main doob raha- Bachaana’ singer, Bilal Khan, is followed largely by his female fans partly for his singing and partly for his looks which speak innocence. A sketch made by one of his fans.

4) Fawad Khan

fawad_khan_by_mosten94-d4sam6j

He had to be in this list.  He just had to! After Humsafar, Ashar became the only man for whom every female heart craved for. It was soon that the social media was found overloaded with such creative drawings and one of them has been shared above.

5)Imran Abbas

Imran_Abbas_finall_by_Meho0oo

Imran Abbas loves to have his photoshoots and so does he loves to have his sketches which are often drawn by his fans. This sketch is one of my favorites as the pencil work is done very delicately and all in all, it reveals more than a colorful photograph can.

So these were the  5 celebrities in my list.  If you ever have sketched down any celebrity on paper, please do share your talent with us.

Shamoon Abbasi Turns Depressive-Out of Waar 2!

0

The ‘Bad Man’ of the Pakistani entertainment industry, Shamoon Abbasi has lately received a huge applause for his negativity in the blockbuster Pakistani movie Waar which has broken all the precious records of Pakistani Film Cinemas. Throughout the shooting of Waar, Shamoon was found all attached with the project and it was even after the post release of the film that the celebrity kept on promoting Waar on social media and on other platforms.

shamoon

As per the latest reveals, it has been found that Shamoom Abbasi has not been considered for the sequel of the film, that is, Waar 2, which is estimated to be even a bigger hit then its first part. This ignorant attitude has given Shamoon a serious shake, which has caused him to go under depression. It is to note that Shamoon’s own project ‘Gidh’ has had been overlooked by him to ensure his complete devotion towards Waar.

Here is a clip of the paper where the news has been published, Have a look!

1504068_706142492738319_1952661491_n (1)

While Shamoon seems to stand at a right position, it is also true that a villain’s role ends in a movie and its sequels often have new faces in negative roles.  We wish him a quick recovery from this trauma.

Pyaray Afzal – Episode 6

0

I love one thing about Pyarai Afzal; The characters of the show are etched out so perfectly and flawlessly that sometimes we forget that we are watching a drama and not a real life scene. From chamkeeli sisters, Farah and Lubna, to simple Arifa and pyarai Afzal; every character speaks for itself effortlessly. This show has the power that compel viewers to glue to their television screens till the last scene. No matter how much stressed you are, you will forget everything once you will become part of Pyarai Afzal’s world.

   Untitled

Afzal always dreamt about Farah; For him, Farah is that earnest yearning of his life which seems almost impossible for him to get accomplished. He always underestimated himself in front of her because deep inside, he knows that his past overshadows every good aspect of him.But when Lubna gave him 2 lacs per month offer along with having an affair with Farah for four months,he was out of his senses. He was not shocked to know that he will be a “lakh pati” soon,  but he heard something that he never expected.

2

Despite of imagining Farah all the time, how can he believe what he just heard ? To have an affair with a girl about whom he dreams always, what else one can expect from him except fainting on the spot. The shock didn’t end at just fainting – aftermaths of it were yet to be followed. Afzal’s shivering sequence was too intense and it was clearly depicting his state. I loved everything about the part from his sheer shivering state to his thoughts equipped with Farah in his life in whatever way. I must say in any show, love in its purest form was described at its best today. Superb homework!

3

Lubna expected that Afzal won’t be giving any response after knowing the scenario and explained everything to Lubna like a teacher that what should her response be when a certain question will be asked from her by her parents. For every possible question, she gave her a lesson and asked her to go to her parents but wait.. ! Lubna got a call from Afzal and he accepted their offer with open heart. It was so cute to hear how purely Afzal is taking this fake relationship whereas Lubna was taking it to the materialistic side.

4

Everything went against their plan and Farah, being confused and unable to handle the situation uttered  Afzal’s name. Wesay, according to me, if Lubna was put in such kind of situation than she could have handled the situation intelligently and cleverly unlike Farah who had nothing to say.

The letter mystry is still not openly revealed but my prediction says that its Afzal who is writing these letters to himself. I am liking everything about the show and really looking forward to the next episode.

I am extremely sorry for reviewing it late as I was not well for many days.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 16!

0

Oh boy! 40 minutes of torture & sadly when I started watching, I knew what I was getting into. I think the writer by mistake kept the name of the drama as Kabhi Kabhi rather it should’ve been Chalte Chalte because it is a clear cut adaptation of SRK’s bollywood movie.

This episode had nothing but the needless yelling, continuous yelling, just for the sake of it yelling & only yelling. I wish the way soundtrack of this drama sounds larger than life, the story complimented the theme (only theme) of the OST because the OST itself sounds haunting. But yeah, it is larger than life in fabrication of lies & unnecessary twisting of simple things.

Sadly, the Arez-Eeshal couple is not ghalat fehmi ka shikaar, they’re a couple of egoistic people who put their egos ahead of everything. I think I am done with the fact that the writers are trying to malign the purest of the pure relation a girl can ever experience in her life & that is a relationship she shares with her Father. For god’s sake no father in this world is such a inhumane enemy of his own daughter. I’d appreciate if the writers stopped ruining the close-knit relations with their thick mindedness.

I swear I thought Arez was someone different & this is exactly what I thought about Eeshal too. Forget about Ahsan Khan & Mehwish Hayat, the reason why I liked this show was because of the chemistry AREZ & EESHAL shared. Not only their chemistry but both of the characters were extremely adorable & just perfect but seems like they were made perfect to make their perfection go down the drain the very next moment. Ohkay, couples do face misunderstandings but this doesn’t mean that they change their characteristics. Eeshal that we knew of was the one who was clear-headed & could see things through, she was an extremist in a good sense but before being that she was intelligent enough to use her brains, like the fact was established of her being intelligent by making Eva a dumb-wit but what has happened to Eeshal ever since? Arez was the one who knew how Eeshal’s father was but still he let his thinking subside & his father in law’s strategies get dominant on their relation. But then again, to me they both are not some people who are misunderstanding each other, they have their ego’s rolling & that’s all there’s to it.

Shahveer & Eeshal had NOTHING to begin with but the detail had to be shown that they both parted at a good note? Why was there a need of a good note in the first place? In just a 15 minute drive around the city, they both bid their forever farewells? Oh & yeah, Arez had his interview there, an interview at a restaurant where kids are whining & glasses are shattering, I never knew that a restaurant provided such a calm environment for an interview to be conducted. Too bad that they have tried to explain such mere details but they are not making any sense right now.

Star appeal is an abstract phenomenon; some entertainers are born with impeccable comic timing, others with twinkling toes, while few latch themselves on to a godfather and going down the make up and training route, strut the stage. And then there are the few who simply exude elements of style and give off vibes of a elevated persona; it is done with such effortless ease that the mass public cannot help but regard the artist with a degree of awe.

The yuppie world of advertising is distinctly different from the family sagas on television that in turn differ tremendously from the garish arc lights of Lollywood. To glide through these three mediums is a task few want to embrace whole heartedly, yet this woman dabbled with all three.

The onlookers and particles of the industry have varying opinions. Some call it a “begum act” others shudder at what they feel is “excessive high maintenance” yet this is one woman who knows her mind and thank heavens is not part of the clique whose tale commence on a note of a young damsel in distress being thrown on to the ramp and told to shed its cocoon.

Moving around in a whirl of meetings and shootings, the cliché of a harassed secretary and an enthusiastic mother do prevail but calling the shots is an ambitious mother of three who appealed to the public from the day she appeared onscreen to sell Lux soap in the late eighties. The lure of light eyes, a gora complexion and lots of confidence appealed to the masses and from then onwards the onstage saga began.

It is a mindset varying from the norm at the moment, as numerous Asian productions are making their presence known globally with films heading towards the Oscars and channels supplying the desi culture from Timbuktu to New Zealand.

Atiqa feels that “more than one element keeps our Pakistani programs from moving abroad, not just the financing which would be required for such a project, also the size of a select audience it would be catering to..”

In the early years one of the most common sights onscreen was her portrayal of a young mother trying to convince the pesky brat to consume a glass of Nido or tell all the onlookers to use a particular brand of cooking oil. Debuting as Anwer Maqsood’s Sitara she enacted the pretty and fragile character who invoked empathy and reactions that made the average Jane relate more to her than the firebrand Mehrunnisa thus ensuring that a star was born. “A lot of it depends on kismet, the way people receive your play or react to it.”

Going by her career chart you do believe her statement that all her roles have a strong element of diversity to them. Instead of forever playing the spoilt little princess or the Muslim social drama post Sitara aur Mehrunnisa she went on to do the role of a slum- living, perpetually pregnant woman in Nijaat which was part of the family planning propaganda. “There were lots of people who warned me against doing that play.

They all said that I would be slotted forever in the de-glamorized role, but I went ahead and it worked.” Explaining how “people think I take my work very lightly and it is part time hobby for me but little do they know that not only does it hold extreme importance in my life I also do take it extremely seriously.”

It is back to television these days, not just as the producer of a television serial that is going to be directed by her long time friend Marina Khan. Also on the cards is producing and hosting a talk show aimed at showcasing the creative genius of Pakistan.

“Basically I love people, and I feel that there are so many of them who have contributed to society not just by doing charity work or such noble acts but even by generating a controversy they add to the growing picture. I want to discuss with them the good, the bad and all the other issues ranging from the environment to what their interests were and why they have spent their lives nurturing them. Having shot a number of episodes I was very surprised to see that most of them are very patriotic despite the fact that some have gone through a pretty rough time here but amazingly their spirits do not sag.”

What sets her and a few select apart from the television behnjis and the film starlets is the different attitude. Loathing the constant moaning and whining that is carried out by the entertainment industry en masse, she says: “A lot of people bemoan the lack of professionalism and the work conditions here. But as I keep telling them this is the one place where you can stand out and carve a niche for yourself.”

To her it is more about fair play than a self-imposed moral brigade. “But the issue lies with the fact that right now we have shows on television where there are nautch girls performing and if it was a level playing field I would have no problems with it. The things we can’t do by holding hands and embracing, need to be done through emoting expressions. It is so much more difficult to show physical attraction here than anywhere else because here it is all in the eyes, and that makes it very challenging.”

With three Lollywood films to her credit, Jo Dar Gaya Woh Maar Gaya was the debut vehicle that had her singing duets with Nadeem as she ran around a piano. Followed by Mummy whose fate at the box office was rather barren and the last one being the biggest hit of the trio — Mujhe Chaand Chahiye. The role of Shan’s mother was not one that many actresses below the age of fifty would relish, but Atiqa chatted with the moon during a good part of the three hours and got accolades en masse for it. “None of my roles have been typical. The glamour is there, the songs are there and the dancing was there. But I am essentially there as a performer and that is exactly what led me to play Shaan’s mother in MCC. It was not a Barbie doll role and that is one thing I would hate to take on.”

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 4

0

This latest episode focused on the main leads more than the previous three episodes. Romaissa’s pre-conceived notions regarding Nabeel and the interaction between the two was interesting. Also, we got to see just how close Nabeel and Zeeshan are. Zeeshan is the only person Nabeel can confide in. It was good to see Nabeel interacting with a normal family member who did not have any ulterior motives for having a conversation with him! Nabeel’s comment “tumhei kuch dikhana hai” was very amusing. The scenes in Nabeel’s house with the rest of his family members had nothing new to offer. Hamnah’s husband has a new plan to make easy money every second day, Walid is irresponsible and Rabiya couldn’t care less about Nabeel’s character as long his bank balance is impressive enough.

m1
Hamnah’s conversation with her mother about Rabiya and everything else was too long. In my opinion everything in Nabeel’s house could have been covered in a better way by keeping it short.

Romaissa’s attitude towards Nabeel would have come across as strange had the secretary not been giving her all “information” that she has been giving her mainly because of her insecurities. I enjoyed Romaissa’s predicament; she is dying to leave the job but her khala and family won’t let her to do so. I could identify with her restlessness and concerns.

m5

Romaissa’s character is cute but it lacks depth. It would have been easier for the viewers to relate to her character if we heard her thinking about her feelings more often or if we were shown the flashback scenes with her father. There should have been something substantial to show the viewers that Romaissa’s feels more than just fear. Because even people who are simple or naive have feelings!

m2
Four episodes of the play have gone on air till now and if I sit down to tally, there are many scenes that already seem repetitive. The viewers are fully acquainted with the characters till now, therefore the scenes that reinforce those characteristics of the characters that are already well established can easily be chopped down.

I found it funny when Nabeel “gifted” Romaissa a blackberry because anyone with a little common sense would know that it would take a girl like Romaissa a very long time to learn how to use such a phone! Aalia actually did her a favor by exchanging phones! Farah Shah seemed louder than usual tonight and I am definitely waiting for khala to be out of the picture now.

m4
There were scenes in tonight’s episode which were enjoyable and also those which one could easily miss without missing anything! There is nothing outstanding about the play till now except some artists who are well-loved and a few good scenes mainly because of the candid conversations. This episode was better than the last one because the story moved forward tonight. I am definitely not sold just yet and am wondering if and when the story will get interesting enough to keep me hooked and looking forward to more.

Rubaru – Episode 01!

0

Well, this drama had a pretty decent start. Till now the theme looks different so I am hoping that we have found something interesting to watch on Thursdays.

Surmed (Faizan Khuwaja) & Tipu (Tipu Sharif) happen to be friends who did their graduation in Turkey together. Surmed in comparison to Tipu has no traces of family left but on the other hand Tipu comes from a big happy family which has a few politics of it’s own. Shabbi (Syra Yousaf) happens to be Tipu’s cousin who is living with her mamu’s after her mother has passed away. Just because she gets the undivided attention from her Naani, the situation doesn’t help her & she continues to be an eye-sore for the rest of the family members except her mamus & elder mami. Both her mami’s happen to be sisters but are poles apart, Nafisa being the eldest is wise & has accepted Shabbi completely whereas Salima who’s the younger one is quite unhappy with Shabbi because of her own daughter Kiran.

Kiran & Tipu who like each-other are engaged to be married but just because Naani has stopped their wedding from happening till Shabbi gets married, this gave a birth to another mess by both Salima & Kiran. Salima obviously being a mother only wants to see her daughter Kiran happy. Even though Naani wants Shabbi to settle ASAP because she doesn’t want her mamu’s to get away from her responsibility, I found her condition of keeping a hold on Kiran’s marriage a bit reasonable. No matter what the Naani wants, things will obviously turn against Shabbi because of her unreasonable demands.

In the meanwhile, Shabbi’s mamu arranged a proposal for her but Naani seems to be unstatisfied. But just in the nick of time Tipu’s friend Surmed has made an appearance & I am sure he will be persistant in getting married to her, even though he looks really decent, his intention may not be right because he has some strings of the memories attached which do haunt him till date, let’s see how things will unfold for Shabbi because she seems like a nice girl.

With Junaid Jamshed – Musician turned Naat reciter cum business man

0

Junaid Jamshed has been in the limelight for years. First for his music, then for his decision to quit music and now for his fashion label JJ.

Untitled

Junaid Jamshed was the most successful singer of his time along with his band mates in the legendary Vital Signs. When he quit music, he turned towards fashion designing and currently his label JJ has over 30 outlets all over Pakistan. Junaid never realised that he would get so much success in both music and fashion. “It was never about success,” he says as he takes off his prayer cap and scratches his head. Junaid the man gives off a warm vibe.

Animated and easy, Junaid’s hands move in all directions when he speaks, but his eyes hold yours. He makes eye contact and keeps smiling. He is a celebrity, but one that celebrities of the day would rather not acknowledge.

Despite having more stores than Amir Adnan, he is not as acknowledged by the fashion fraternity as a successful retailer. Perhaps they can’t relate to his religiousity, but then again, that could also be his innate humility.
Junaid has no hang ups about admitting that his success as the lead vocalist in the country could be attributed to people like Shoaib Mansoor, Rohail Hyatt and Shehzad Hasan.  We caught up with JJ recently to talk about fashion, music and of course, the legend that was Vital Signs and in that process, give Junaid his due…

Q-: How do you feel about the Danish caricatures? What do you think of the way we are responding to it?

Junaid Jamshed: I feel exactly the way you’re feeling. I am a Pakistani. I have more right over this country than you. This soil demands more from me than from you because it gave me a name. Today, if I go to America or India or Africa, people will know me because of the soil I come from. Our Prophet (PBUH) was called a lot of names including a magician, a poet and even a lunatic. By calling him names, his respect and honour wouldn’t go down. Would anything happen to him or Allah? No, it wouldn’t!

His companions didn’t burn down houses and destroy their own properties. This is not the way to deal with the Danish caricatures. They need to be dealt, yes! But in a different way. We are more concerned about the cartoons than what we are doing and how our Prophet must be feeling. What about the believers who are not following his words in abundance every single day. Why aren’t we reacting to that? I’m more concerned about that. Our lives are not getting affected because of what others are doing but because of what we are not doing.

Q-: Around the time Dil Ki Baat was releasing, you decided to leave music. Why?

Junaid Jamshed: Dil Ki Baat was very close to my heart. Even though I don’t listen to those songs anymore but if I go back, some of those songs had a lot to say in my life. Shoaib (Mansoor) and I had composed the track ‘Dil Ki Baat’ six or seven years before it actually came out. Songs like ‘Kaho Na’ and songs like ‘Intezaar Karna’ were very close to me, but at that time I had a change of heart.

Q: How come?

Junaid Jamshed: Because I was going towards the path of Allah and I was learning new things. Things that held priority in my life then were losing their value. And right in the middle of it, Dil Ki Baat came out. It was neither here nor there. I wasn’t even aware of its release because I had made plans to leave music. I personally feel that technically it was the best album we (me and Shoaib) ever made.

Q: You were also offered a part in Khuda Key Liye?

Junaid Jamshed: Initially I did take the role but I couldn’t go ahead with it because there were a lot of conflicting ideas within the movie as far as I was concerned. My environment had changed. I tried to do it but I couldn’t. You must realize that my relationship with Shoaib was not just of an artist and a producer. We were the best buddies. We were the most like – minded people when making music. We used to make a song while taking a stroll. He would make a line and I would make a line and those songs turned out to be huge hits.

Q: Give me a few names?

Junaid Jamshed: ‘Tumhara Aur Mera Naam’, ‘Ab Jiya Na Jaaye’, ‘Teray Liye Hai Mera Dil’, ‘Tum Duur Thay’, ‘Naraz Hum’, ‘Yaar Nahie Haar Dey’. Now when I look back, it was the best musical duo in Pakistan at that particular time. But then, I realized that I had a huge responsibility on me. This entire youth was doing exactly as I was saying and what was I telling them? Where was I taking them? All these thoughts bothered me.

Q: Vital Signs were a revolution in the Pakistani music scene. You changed our music history forever. VS are legends to date. When you look back, what do you miss about those days?

Junaid Jamshed: I miss… what do I miss? Okay, let me put it this way, when I sit back and look at the past, I’m not ashamed of what I did. In fact when I look at it from the point of sincerity, I must say and I cannot comment on others, but we were the most sincere band when it came to making music. Money was always secondary. That’s why myself, Rohail (Hyatt) and Shahi (Shehzad Hasan) never fought on money. There was never a problem with ‘I did more; he did less’ in the band. We were friends first and band members later. Even today we are friends. And we came to a point where we decided that we won’t make more music because our friendship was getting affected. We were all superstars in our own capacity at that time (1997). We realized that we had done good work and we needed a break.

Q: So Vital Signs’ separation was temporary?

Junaid Jamshed: At that point, yes. Because I wanted to do music on my own. VS were everyone combined. I wanted to try something on my own. Rohail wanted to do some videos and audio stuff. Shahi wanted to do some studio work. We all became better at what we were doing and it became difficult to get back together and give time to each other.

Q: You all did one concert later for Nazia Hasan. How was it getting back on that stage with VS all over again?

Junaid Jamshed: Oh it was magic! I made more money when I became a solo artist but the feeling I used to get when Rohail and Shahi were with me on stage is incomparable. It was the most beautiful feeling I’ve ever had in my life. Rohail liked what I did, I liked what he did and the same goes for Shahi. Rohail and Shahi were two of the most brilliant musicians of our times. Salman Ahmed, Rizwan ulHaq and Nusrat Hussain  these people were the best musicians of their times. And they still are. God had somehow put all these people together and it was revolutionary.

Q: Musician turns towards fashion . how did that happen?

Junaid Jamshed: When I left music, I had to do something. It was forced; I had to make a living but honestly I had little idea that our brand would one day become such a huge name.

Q: Do you design yourself?

Junaid Jamshed: I used to design myself but not anymore. Now we have professional designers.

Q: What is your design philosophy?

Junaid Jamshed: Less is more

Q: Really?

Junaid Jamshed: (Laughs) I don’t mean it in terms of cloth. I mean in terms of embellishment. Since VS days, we used to design our own clothes. That is me, Rohail and Shahi. People used to ask us, “Which designer?” Woh jo ghar ke peeche darzi hota tha, he used to make it. So, I always knew that if I ever were to venture into fashion designing, I would be good at it. I had the brain and I strongly believe that in the Pakistani market, we haven’t done enough with Eastern wear. I knew that if I were to make a kurta, it would be fabulous. Look at this (points to the kurta he’s wearing), it’s got stripes and its dull brown. My idea was to play with the cut, work on a fabric that’s wearable as well as fashionable, put some nice buttons. You can go anywhere wearing this. I saw Amir Adnan doing it and I was very inspired. That inspiration encouraged me to go forward but I had a different approach. Once I played around with kurtas, I realised that the idea that men would wear anything was wrong. They too have a standard and it has to be met. When I became successful in that, I ventured into women’s wear. I only manufacture cloth; I don’t design dresses for women.

Q: What do you think of Pakistani fashion?

Junaid Jamshed: We don’t do fashion shows, we’re not in any sort of fashion programs so I really don’t know. I feel that since JJ has gone to different parts of Pakistan, I’ve seen and understood that Pakistan is a country with very diverse taste. If you have a designer store in Karachi, you don’t really know what’s going on Gilgit or Swat. A woman in Swat has nothing in common with a woman living in Karachi. The kinds of colours that sell in Peshawar do not sell in Quetta. I still feel that there is a lot of room for growth. From whatever I know, Mashallah the Pakistani fashion industry is going very well. Some of the names are making great stuff.

Q: Like who?

Junaid Jamshed: I like what Rizwan Beyg does. It’s very interesting. I like Faiza Samee and Hasan Shehryar Yasin. Apart from that, I’m a huge fan of Ather and Shehzad Raza, the kind of photography they do. I like Khawar Riaz, very professional, slick and up to date. These guys are doing great work.

Q: How do you feel about the Fashion Design Council?

Junaid Jamshed: I think it’s incredible, it is wonderful and they have my full support. Anything that projects the image of Pakistan in a positive and honourable way, I salute people who take such initiative. Designers like Maheen who have gained a huge name in Pakistan, I respect them and I’m always here.

Q: Have you been called by either of the two parties?

Junaid Jamshed: Maheen called me. It was very kind of her and we spoke but then I never got a call from her again. If I am called, I will consult with my fellow members and see what it is.

Q: You have over 30 outlets all over Pakistan. What is your business strategy?

Junaid Jamshed: It’s not about economincs, it’s a proper system. First, research is done. What kind of market it is? Is it financially feasible? What will be the initial expenditure? We come to a figure and then decide if we should open a store in a certain area. If the sales are good, then one doesn’t mind giving a higher rent.

Q: You advertise a lot. How feasible is that?

Junaid Jamshed: There are times when reaching out to people is more important than making money. One year we might not make a lot of profit on a certain product but the next year our advertising is less and we will gain more profit. You have to make a two or three year plan. It is the demand of a company that is growing. We cannot simply bank on the idea that today we open a shop and tomorrow we will make this much profit. We have outlets that make no money but they are there for a certain purpose, the reason being reaching people.

Q: What is your take on the current Pakistani music scene?

Junaid Jamshed: I am really not aware of the scene. However, I still meet my old friends from time to time if I come across them. The other day while I was recording my naat album, I met Ali Haider. It was really good to meet him after a long time. Somehow, he looks younger and younger every time I see him. But I must say something here that listening to the band members is very important. I remember that every time I did something that Rohail said “it won’t work” or “don’t,” he was right. Every time!

Q: If you hadn’t been a successful musician, do you think JJ would be so huge?

Junaid Jamshed: Yes, you’re right in a way. People knew who I was. But once people come inside the shop, the name isn’t enough to convince them to buy. The only advantage is they would know me and come to check out what I was doing.

Surprise surprise, this drama is getting really interesting. Plus I enjoyed this episode a lot more than the previous ones may be because we’re done with the introductory phase & now the plot is on the move. Plus it is really appeasing to see that such a simple story can leave you with a good taste after the episode ends.

Of all the things, one particular detail that I love in a drama is when the misunderstandings are sorted without a further a due so for this reason it was a win win situation for me when Aiza directly asked Laiba what was bothering her & later clarified that she is being candid with Saad so that she can improvise Laiba’s feelings in front of him. I am glad that Laiba understood her ASAP because no matter what she really & actually respected Aiza a lot, so I am happy that they both got back to how they were.

Sheheryar got a bit concerned about Laiba’s continuous outbursts & for that after having a conversation with psychiatrist he understood that Laiba still misses her mother a lot. Even after Sheheryar has done everything for her definitely he falls a little short because he has a business to run too. Laiba’s Tai Ammi loves her & gives her utmost attention but still there’s an emotional void in Laiba. All the others, including the psychiatrists may think that it is because of the lack of attention & due to the absence of her mother but only Laiba herself & Aiza know that the main reason is Saad. Laiba only wants his attention & a name to their relation.

Finally, the weird Cuckoo has arrived. I loved how Laiba did not entertain her at all because she found her annoying & was getting irritated by her needless displays of perfection. It was rightly shown that a well-settled woman like her could feel insecure by a normal girl like Aiza who is the least harmful. Obviously Cuckoo has called her dibs on Sheheryar but luckily for him he is getting to spend time with Aiza, away from all the other diversions.

I think it would’ve been better if Aiza in stead of re-furnishing her house, changed the locality of her place because now she is earning well & obviously a change of place would be a better idea. Gladly, Aiza’s bhabhi has acknowledged all the efforts Aiza are putting in for the benefit of this family so luckily Aiza won’t have to worry about her personal life because that is sailing smoothly.

Finally, the scenic scenes of TURKI as Aiza’s brother said have started & to surprise myself I found the conversations of Sheheryar & Aiza really interesting. I wanted to hear more from him because all this while he was busy but this is the first time we got to know a lot more about his character & it was definitely something pleasant. At first I thought that the idea of Aiza & Sheheryar being together was a bit odd but the way they have done things, it doesn’t look unusual at all. Sheheryar thinks he has found someone who understands him a bit better but Aiza was just being herself because she is just such a positive human being that she doesn’t need to pretend or something, so just like that & just so effortlessly she makes people like her.

Next episode has a lot more drama going on so let’s see how it unfolds. Waiting eagerly for next Wednesday, bring it on please!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 15 – Revelations from the past!

0

The show has now taken quite a big turn and we saw some shocking developments and revelations in this episode. It is now clear to all of us why Dudi always compares Aaliyan with his mother because he has inherited all her traits. The kind-heartness and the willingness to help people are the traits he had adopted from his mother’s side (Sultan does not have an ounce of humanity anyways). She was so kind to Qudsiya when she came for to apply for the job and quickly appointed her when she realized that she needs the job badly. Now a new chapter has opened for Qudsiya and we well get to see her working for Shamsa. Both are actually related to each other through Aaliyan, but it is so ironic that they would not get to know about their relation anytime soon.

We know now that history is repeating itself. Previously it was Shamsa in place of Qudsiya and Rana in place of Natasha. Sultan had chosen Rana over Shamsa and left her, he had even lied to Aaliyan about her mother running away with someone else. This is the reason why Aaliyan gets so upset at the mention of his mother. Sultan had clearly refused to let Shamsa meet Aaliyan even when she begged him to let her, now what I want to see is whether Qudsiya will be the link to their reunion!

Aaliyan has been trying desperately to move on and look forward to his life with Natasha, but Qudsiya is still stuck somewhere at the back of his mind. He showed how possessive he was about her when she informed him about the offers she had been getting lately because of her temporary marital status. Another revelation for all of us in this episode was that Qudsiya is clearly in love with Aaliyan, and she herself is in denial. She would have not been so upset with her mother for going to Aaliyan’s and fighting for her rights if she was not in love with Aaliyan. She wants Aaliyan to recognize her as his wife otherwise she would not go back at any cost, but even she knows this would not happen. Aaliyan has decided to marry Natasha and whether he will really marry her or not is a twist that we all are waiting for!

Dudi was able to guess correctly about Qudsiya falling in love with Aaliyan which is the main reason why she does not want him to give her a divorce, but what surprised me the most was Aaliyan’s assumption that Qudsiya wanted to remain married to him for his name. That was a low blow! He should have at least recognized by now that Qudsiya is no gold digger. Her mother did not want Qudsiya’s marriage to end because of her own twisted views of what would happen later on. Qudsiya was right in being upset with her, she cares too much about what people will say when she should care about how Qudsiya will live in that big house which has no place for her.

A bit more was shown of Emad Irfani’s character in this episode. I was still, however, unable to understand his relationship with Shamsa. Hopefully in the coming episodes, their relation would be described more clearly. I was looking forward to Emad Irfani’s entry but I was a bit disappointed by his robotic dialogue delivery. And here we used to criticize Sheheryar for his weak dialogue delivery! Well, Sheheryar is way better than Emad in terms of dialogue delivery. It will now be interesting to see the track between Qudsiya and Shahnawaz now!

It will be interesting to see what happens in tonight’s episode. Will Natasha marry Aaliyan or will she leave him when she gets to know that he had not divorced Qudsiya yet? Tune in to tonight’s episode to find out!

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Torture # Ikkees!

0

Finally we’re heading towards the end of the masterpiece known as Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai but I am glad that even by the end of the drama, the director didn’t fail to impress me with the fail of his direction. What shall I say man, I am totally in an awe of how creative a director can be!

Finally Shaiq got heed of the fact that Narmeen was up to some nasty & for that he for the first time thought like a Hero & tried to unlock the mystery but I am impressed with the ghunda who was on the phone, because at first he demanded Rs. 5 lacs & the very next moment he was worried about Narmeen’s depreciating cellular credit, WOW! Do they really make such caring goons these days?

Anyways, Samina Begum has returned & the conversation between her & Shakeel uncle was uh…what’s the word – BORINGGG. But I am amazed at a fact that when Samina Begum suggested that we would now tell Shaiq to go away & settle somewhere else with Narmeen, Shakeel uncle said ‘ye mere liye mushkil hoga’. So what was the speech for in the previous episode where he himself told Shaiq to go away & he refused? I am not sure what’s happening, are they normal or we’re abnormal or vice versa? Phew!

Areeba came back, as if we never knew that she would & even if she had to come back, why did she leave in the first place? Oh now I get it, it was to drag the drama till 20+ episodes. She comes back after listening to her friend’s suicidal speech which made me wonder that why would a girl like to die after she has spent a whole day doing makeup. Her friend looked like she was going for a suicide shopping with a huge bag hanging on her arm & in the meanwhile she stopped by Areeba’s to tell her that I’m off for the suicide adventure so I thought I’d let you know. Marna hai to maro, tayari aur itna rona pitna kyun? Acha, what’s funniest was after Areeba’s friend told her she was going to die & she left, Areeba didn’t even bother stopping her because she was too busy planning her return to Arham’s place. LOL! FAILLLLLL!

Narmeen who spoke to her mother first thing in the morning told her that she was being blackmailed for the amount of 5 lacs. But later when she called her mother again to tell her that Areeba’s back, her mother goes like ‘itni subha kaisay uth gai’ giving us the impression that it was the first call she made to her mother. Editing fail probably. Acha, what Areeba blabbered in front of Arham made so sense at all – jung, waar, mohabbat, yakeen, bla bla & I was like band karo appna ye Radio program. Anyways she goes around saying Narmeen challenged her that Arham won’t come for the breakfast but I am wondering when did it all happen? Narmeen was sulking in her room, Areeba was in her own so when did they both have an encounter in the morning? Plus not to forget the changing kurtas of Areeba didn’t help the situation either. I am amazed at how faarigh this family is, they only bother running towards the breakfast table to thoosofy the food & later they scurry into their rooms, then again they run towards the lunch table & once again back to their rooms then again they come out of their bills for the dinner & go to their rooms, that’s how a day goes like in this house.

Looking at Arham’s formal shoes, I always have a feeling of him being a busiest businessman but he never fails to amaze me that he dresses up in formal dress shirt & shoes to just roam around in the house, to cry at his fullest & to ask his wife for coffee. Acha, Areeba goes like ‘coffee aur pakore tayar hain’ which made me wonder what sort of a combo was that? It sounds like garlic bread & pulao or may be raita & chai? I feel they eat hideously that’s why they sound & act hideously too.

Shaiq is not at all a crack-pot he proved because he cracked a mystery with a help of his employee & ta-da it happens to be their wawela aunty Zainab. Narmeen is glad that she is going to get a perfect surprise for her birthday but a little does she know what surprise would it be. I hope he gifts her with a rat-killer or coopex so that at least we don’t get to hear her yelling once again because by the sight of the next preview I am sure there would be a lot of needless yelling & swearing. But I am hoping this would be the last episode, I hope so!

Ranjish Hi Sahi – Episode 10

0

The play maintained its slow but steady pace in this episode too. Every episode has something new to offer and leaves me with something to look forward to. Ranjish Hi Sahi is not the story of two lead characters in any way but every character stands out and there is no confusion regarding their feelings or actions. Kamal’s confusion and helplessness, Rohail’s protective attitude, Bilquees’ heartbreak, Yumna’s vulnerability, Tooba’s love and care for her mother and Hiba’s rebellious nature; all have been portrayed excellently. It isn’t easy to take a play with such a storyline forward by keeping it engaging enough but the writer and director have managed to achieve that objective by breathing life in all of the characters and making the viewers feel for them. Also, appropriate casting makes a huge difference. The old and new actors are doing complete justice to their respective roles which adds to the joy of watching this show.

rhs3
Tooba’s mother in law called the engagement off after finding out about Yumna’s nikkah and also due to Hiba’s disrespectful behavior. She felt no shame in telling Yumna that she wasn’t happy with the engagement in the first place and all she was looking for was an excuse. Kamal has taken an about turn; he is very clueless and the confidence he had before has completely disappeared. If he couldn’t deal with the aftermath of the bold step he took then he should not have made all those promises to Yumna. She obviously trusted him that is why she went ahead with the nikkah. Yumna seems more practical now; she is willing to take the heat and face the situation while Kamal is only running away from the situation.

rhs1
Rohail will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the relationship between Yumna and his father ends. He is confident that he needs to do all that he is doing for his mother’s happiness. He also made it clear that most of the financial assets belonged to his mother, not that Yumna was ever interested in Kamal’s wealth.

rhs fb
My favorite scene from tonight’s episode had to be when Yumna decided to disclose the truth to Arsal’s mother. Her confidence was very impressive and what she said made a lot of sense. I wish Kamal Hassan could borrow some of that reasoning and confidence. I feel that all of a sudden there is a huge communication gap between Kamal and Yumna which if not bridged will only make matters worse.

The preview of the next episode was very alarming – will Yumna really die or was it just a bad dream? I really like Samiya Mumtaz in this role and would want to see more of her. Are you enjoying watching the show? Any predictions about what turn the story will take in the future episodes?

A very Happy New Year to all our readers. I hope that this year brings you joy, peace and happiness.

Faiza Iftikhar- A Combo of Wit and Solemnity

0

Initially the dramas were novel based in Pakistani showbiz; it was many years later after the advent of Ptv that Haseena Moin penned down the first non-novel based script of Kiran Kahani. Novel based dramas never went out of business but they’ve never been in fashion like they are now from the past half-decade or so. Most of the female writers who are now ruling Pakistan television got fame from monthly Urdu digests and have slowly reached the electronic media. Faiza Iftikhar is also amongst these writers and a very sought after writer.

Faiza Iftikhar’s novels and dramas tend to identify and pinpoint the issues prevalent in our society. Be it the issue of remarriage of a widow, the dilemma and trauma of a rape victim or her take on the classic Akbari Asghari in contemporary setup etc, she has given different prospects and aspects of these issues. Roag, Akbari Asghari, Bilquees Kaur, Zindagi Dhoop Tum Ghana Saya, Aunn Zara, Ik Naye Cinderella are amongst her best plays which not only prove her a versatile writer but a writer who is able to understand and highlight the harsh realities of life. It is always the take of the writer on the subject matter that makes a difference; she has presented forth serious issues in gravely grim tone in Roag and Zindagi Dhoop Tum Ghana Saya and simultaneously debatable issues with comic overtones in Aunn Zara, Bilquees Kaur and Akbari Asghari. Her recent plays Khoya Khoya Chand and Meri Zindagi Hai Tu have been complete disappointments as compared to her earlier projects. Both clichéd plots have nothing new to offer.

Another notable aspect of her dramas is the strong depiction of women; the house full of women in AZ all of them had a distinct personality, complex, multifold personality of Bilquees Kaur, transformation of Haleema in Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai from a hesitant housewife to a woman who had the abilities and courage to face every challenge in life, straightforward Akbari (Akbari Asghari) and Mithu (Manchalay) give us a vibrant array of strong women. Her near-to-life portrayals of female characters are relatable, a source for catharsis for many women.

Similarly she has written some outstanding novels which luckily haven’t been dramatized yet, I might not remember the names of novels but she has produced certain unforgettable characters and most of the times drama makers fail to capture the essence of the characters. The only problem with FI’s dramas are her abrupt endings and digressions, somewhere towards the ending she starts giving more space to side characters or needlessly stretch the drama. Her sitcom Manchalay was thoroughly engaging and entertaining but as it got stretched it lost its charm. Despite her flaws she has all ingredients of a captivating and engaging writer.
