The web series with our very own polite Pakistani actress Samina Peerzada. Instead of a TV show, she is having her show on world wide web. Samina Peerzada’s latest series was created by Peerzada in collaboration with Muhammad Adnan Butt of Walnut Studios. With over 160,000 subscribers, and over 400,000 views on its most popular uploads, the channel is dedicated to broadcasting the show Rewind by Samina Peerzada. Each episode features a Pakistani celebrity where they share their journeys, struggles and success stories. Every season has different title. Season 1 is Rewind while as, season 2 is Speak you heart. 

The show is not your average Pakistani show. She asks serious questions which brings out the best of the guest. We also get to hear  painful stories of the people from industry. The unseen side of celebrities is revealed in this show.

Samina has hosted many guests. From singers to stand-up comedians to directors. The guests so far are:

Ahsan Khan, Mahira Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Wahab Riaz, Sana Mir, Asim Azhar, Ali Azmat, Aima Baig, Hadiqa Kiani, Ushna Shah, Nabila, Bilal Abbas Khan and many more.

Zainab Jamil is a former Pakistani model and TV actress. She began her career as host in Aftab Iqbal’s show Khabanak. Talking about meeting her ex-husband, Zainab said, “It was a love marriage, I knew my ex-husband and he was quite serious about me. He was forcing me to get married with him, he was insisting a lot. He wanted me to leave my profession to get married to him. Well, I met him in Lahore, when I was in Karachi he started pressurizing me for marriage, I couldn’t even investigate about him and got into his trap especially when he said that leave your profession and sit at home, you don’t need to work. She further said that her husband was very much possessive, talking about it, she said, “once I was on my OST shoot, where I had to film a scene with leading actor by holding his hand, whenever I used to start that specific scene with the male lead, he would start crying, which was also noted by the director Abdullah Badini who warned me and said, “Zainab, you are badly trapped by him”.

Talking about her husband’s behaviour, she said, “He once asked me to give away all my jeans to which I agreed and promised him that I won’t wear jeans. I then asked him for money which he was supposed to give me but he refused to give it to me. I was okay with that too. He then urged me to make his first wife my business partner and to send my daughter to an average school where the fee was low because he couldn’t afford the fee for my daughter.”

She also said that her husband’s ex-wife accepted her instantly with a purpose: she began making plans to destroy her marriage by manipulating her ex-husband. Zainab stated that the ex-wife accepted her as part of a cunning move to create hurdles for her in future.

Zainab said, “His first wife was living with us because she wanted equal rights, she came at house, observed me and started playing her moves against me. She started manipulating my husband, she entered my house to know my nature and used it against me, she didn’t take stand but accepted me to destroy my marital life, she could communicate with me, I could to back out easily. He started taunting me on my expenses after which I restarted my social media and informed him.

Famed TV presenter Zainab Abbas has recalled the challenges she faced as a woman when she ventured into the world of sports that is predominantly a male-run industry, not only in Pakistan but world over. Zainab’s journey to fame has not been an easy one, and the celebrated personality, in a recent TED Talk, revealed the challenges she had to face while marking her presence as a female sports presenter in Pakistan.

Zainab’s daring discourse at the TEDWomen 2020 featured a prerecorded session titled ‘The missing sportsmanship in sports’ and a line-up of speakers. The virtual event that highlights the journey of prominent personalities also shed light on renowned females in the field of sports.

Speaking of her journey, Zainab recalled how growing up she had always been vehement about playing sports, predominately cricket in the company of her cousins. “The idea of sportsmanship stems from the fact that sport is generally an equalizer, independent of gender, race, or skin color. It focuses on your talent, skills, strength, and above all, merit,” she remarked.

She further talked about her experience after graduation which led her to disconnect from the world of sports and join a corporate organization in London. This is where she was subjected to racial discrimination and bigotry as well.

But following this, Zainab received the opportunity of auditioning for a World Cup event in Pakistan, albeit, the interviewers doubted her knowledge of sports on the basis of her gender. And among these hurdles, she also relayed having a hearing impairment which coupled with having no media training, and no room for mistakes left her no choice but to polish her presenting skills.

“I did not have a mentor, I was not a TV buff and I was just following my dream and passion. When I did enter the field, there were a lot of people who made fun of me because they believed that a woman cannot be talking about sports,” said Zainab.

“Focus is the one thing that kept me going even in times of adversity. There was also a time when some of the cricketing legends that I looked up to, refused to give me an interview due to my gender.” Zainab confessed how heartbreaking her experience was, because as a child these were the heroes that she looked up to. After a couple years into recognition, the two cricketers who refused to give her an interview willingly gave her one, acknowledging her worth and how she cemented her way into the industry.

“I think the world was just not prepared. They were not used to seeing a woman taking the lead in this field that has been helmed and represented by men for so many years,” she concluded, acknowledging inclusivity as true sportsmanship.

Zainab Abbas is a Pakistani television host, sports presenter, and former makeup artist. Zainab used to work as a makeup artist with her own studio until 2015 when she auditioned for a World Cup cricket programme, which launched her career in presenting and commentating on cricket. In 2019, she became the first Pakistani female presenter in the International Cricket Council’s Cricket World Cup. She has presented the Pakistani national cricket league, known as the Pakistan Super League (PSL), in the years 2017-2019.

Zainab Abbas got married to Hamza Kardar in November 2019. The couple is now expecting their first child. Zainab shared the good news in a recent post on Instagram with the caption “My travel partner 👶 this past year. Feels more like a test match rather than a T20, but managed to weather the storm and carry on working throughout. Hoping this new journey is as rewarding as the previous one. Grateful❤️”.

Zain Ali, a young singer who had also represented Pakistan in an Indian musical reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’, passed away at a friend’s house in Sheikhupura on Friday.

The Lahore based singer, Zain Ali had left home on Thursday night to visit friends in Sheikhupura. While talking to Express Tribune, Zain’s brother, Sonu reported:

“Zain told us that he was going to hang out with his friends for a few days but we woke up to the news of his death.”

Sonu further added:

”He was unmarried and had no love affairs or financial troubles that we know. In fact, Zain was about to make a new song for an upcoming film soon and was very excited about it.”

Zain’s friends revealed to his brother that the young singer, Zain went to the washroom and when he did not come out for a while, they started banging the door and calling his name then finally they barged in and found him lying unconscious on the floor. The medical investigation is still under process and there is no final verdict about his death.

Zain took part in 2012 edition of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ and got several appreciations from various Pakistani and Indian veteran actors. Unfortunately he didn’t win the competition but many had labelled him as future of Pakistani music. He had been performing at various private musical gatherings in Lahore.

Senior musician Sajjad Tafu has also expressed his views while mourning the death of Zain. While talking to Express Tribune he said:

“Zain was a great singer! In fact, he was one of the most popular young singers in Lahore and everyone expected him to do some great things in the industry.”
