She posted a story on her Instagram in which she wrote, “I was performing at Park View City, Islamabad, and they handed the drone controller to an amateur. The drone was super fast and came straight at me. That’s how my hand got cut so badly. I am okay now and have also gotten my tetanus injection done. Thanks for checking up on me.”

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 4 Review – Highs & Lows

The story moved forward a little with this episode and tonight’s installment was slightly more engaging than the previous two episodes. Nyle’s father’s character has to be one of those very few supporting characters who manage to win you over completely even though they don’t get a lot of screen time. I really like the way Salman Shahid is underplaying his character and bringing out the best in it. Unlike the women in the house his personality is more subtle and likeable. The scene at the lawyer’s office suggested that there is more to his character than what appears on the surface. I loved Nyle’s father’s scene with Ikhtiyar, not only did it show how strong the bond between these two was but it also gave the viewers an insight into Ikhtiyar’s background story. There are times however when you feel that some of the scenes needed a little more depth and they should have been explored more too.

The misunderstanding between Nyle and Zoya would have been far more relatable if Zoya’s character and her feelings for Nyle were given a little more attention in the previous few episodes. Zoya keeps you guessing whereas there are plenty of scenes in which Nyle shows his likeness for her. Nyle’s mother wants to make sure that her son gets married to the girl she wants him to get married to therefore when she felt like Zoya might be the girl he is interested in, she did what she could to make sure that she takes a step back. Slowly Nyle’s mother’s character is turning out to be more authoritative and that of someone who will not take a backseat when it comes to choosing the girl her son gets married to. Bushra Ansari’s character is a somewhat lighter version of the role she played in drama serial Jhoot. She is equally controlling in this one too but cracks a few light jokes every now and then. Kubra Khan’s character is also a repetition of many characters which she has played in the recent past, which is rather disappointing because a lot of viewers expected her to play a different role in this play. Zoya’s character isn’t meaty enough either for a leading character.

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 4 Review - Highs & Lows

Phupo and Ikhtiyar’s nok jhok was fun to watch in this episode especially because these characters balance out the seriousness of Nyle’s mother’s character and also that of Zoya. I still feel however that Nyle’s family needed additional friends or neighbors to make the whole scenario more interesting. Phupo’s obsession with food and her relationship with all the characters has been interesting throughout. I can already see her as someone who will support Nyle once he declines to marry ama’s ladli niece. I am looking forward to watching how Sadia Faisal plays her character. I am glad that we will finally get to meet Rimsha in the next episode.

Overall, this was a much better episode which gave me a reason to tune into this drama next week too, I do feel however that overall the story could have been far better. Having said that, I am definitely more interested in some of the tracks now and hopefully the story will pick up pace in the upcoming episodes. The pace of a drama plays a major role in keeping the interest of the viewers intact especially when you are watching a drama like this one.

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 3 Review – Slow-Paced

Tonight’s episode of Shadi Mubarak Ho was a lot like the previous episode; slow-paced and light but not exactly funny! If this drama was more fast-paced and some of the scenes in particular were shorter, it could have been far more entertaining, even though the storyline is a little too simple. Unfortunately, this drama also doesn’t have enough characters or tracks to keep the viewers interested. Even the few characters which get plenty of screen time in every episode aren’t exactly the sort of characters you warm up to and look forward to watching every week. Ikhtiyar gets more screen time in every episode than Ahsan. Ikhtiyar’s relationship with the people in the house is somewhat interesting but he gets way more screen time than he should. Ahsan and Nyle also do not have the kind of bromance which could have made this relationship come alive on screen. Nyle and Zoya’s relationship is plain and realistic but not exactly appealing. The most off-putting aspect of this drama so far has to be the repeated references to certain diseases which do not even pass as a joke!

Many of the conversations in this episode revolved around Rimsha and it seems like the writer is trying extra hard to build up the curiosity of the viewers therefore I hope that Rimsha’s character will live up to the “hype”. It would have been so much better if her character was introduced in this episode. Nyle has fallen for Zoya and even though Zoya likes him as well but she has been shown as a practical girl who does not want to admit to herself or others that she is falling in love with Nyle. Right now I find Nyle’s father’s character the most likeable one in the play. Yasir Hussain did really well in the first episode because he is definitely good at mimicking and can make you laugh but too bad he decided to play the “hero” instead of a more comic character.

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 3 Review - Slow-Paced

The preview of the next episode suggested that there will be some kind of a misunderstanding between the “love birds”! I am wondering if Rimsha will make her entry in the next episode or not and whether the story will pick up pace in the upcoming episodes. The first episode of the drama was interesting because it was longer than usual therefore it covered more too. Every episode so far has a specific pattern and there is nothing unpredictable or interesting about the plot. This drama could have been far better if the script was written in such a way that the viewers could have easily connected to the characters. If this was not meant to be an all out comedy then the writer should have added more emotions in the drama to make it relatively more attractive for the viewers. I would love to see Kubra Khan in particular doing some serious comedy for a change. Also, it is sad that even someone like Bushra Ansari does not make you laugh when you are watching this play because the character she is playing does not have a lot to offer.

The OST of Shadi Mubarak Ho is the best thing about it so far. I expected a lot from this drama but it has turned out to be a huge disappointment so far. I will give it two more weeks, if it doesn’t take off then I am not tuning into it again.

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 2 Review – Not Exactly Funny!

This second episode of Shadi Mubarak wasn’t half as lively and fun as the OST of the play which gives completely different vibes. I have to say that the first episode even with all its drawbacks was more interesting than this one because it covered a great deal and Yasir Hussain was definitely better at playing the guy who likes to play pranks than the “cute boy” who is hopelessly in love. Yasir Hussain is a natural actor but let’s be honest, he does not and cannot fit in the cute boy role! Also, the humor in this episode wasn’t really funny; the dialogues which were supposed to be humorous were more sarcastic than funny. So far, the characters too are simple, easy to relate to but they don’t really make you laugh and are not appealing enough.

Nyle fell in love with Zoya just like that and Zoya decided to forgive him too. While I found their scenes together realistic instead of too cheesy but the fact that these two characters are no longer fighting has somehow effected the chemistry between the two. In the first episode when they were both fighting, it seemed like Yasir Hussain and Kubra Khan shared good on screen chemistry but tonight watching them as a couple wasn’t exactly delightful. The reason for this also was that the scenes were too plain and they were neither serious nor funny! Another reason is that while Nyle’s character has a definite personality, Zoya’s character doesn’t have a lot to offer. There isn’t anything about Zoya’s character which is likeable, I hate to use this word repeatedly but she too is plain! Same is true for the relationship all the other characters have with each other. Nyle’s mother kept on looking for a girl for his son and this time around after being disappointed with all the other girls she has met so far, she decided to call her niece Rimsha to win her son over. I am not expecting Rimsha’s character to live up to the “hype” because clearly Shadi Mubarak doesn’t seem like one of those dramas which actually deliver!

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 2 Review - Not Exactly Funny!

The opening scene of tonight’s episode was a failed attempt at comedy and then the whole episode was filled with such scenes. What made the rest of the episode bearable is the fact that the actors playing the central roles are good actors.

So far, Shadi Mubarak does not have the kind of witty comedy or fun characters which the viewers were looking forward to watching when they tuned into this drama. The relationship between all the characters has also not been explored much and is one-dimensional and hence too plain. Nyle and his family discuss only one topic; all the conversations in the house revolve around his marriage. Even someone like Bushra Ansari who manages to make the most of every role assigned to her and makes sure all her roles have a different feel seems to be playing a role similar to the one she was playing in drama serial jhoot. The irony is that the mindset with which both these characters were written was anything but the same but Yasir Hussain failed to give Bushra Ansari the kind of character which would give her a new identity. I have said this before but I feel the need to say thing again – Bushra Ansari’s potential has not been exploited to the maximum in this serial. On the whole, Shadi Mubarak can pass as a guilty pleasure for those people who want to watch something which isn’t heavy-duty but don’t expect a lot of laughter from this one!

Shadi Mubarak Ho Episode 1 Review – Decent Beginning

Shadi Mubarak Ho’s double launch episode gave it a decent start by giving the viewers a basic insight into all the characters, some of which were rather typical but there were others which are going to be the reason why most viewers will tune into it this drama in the future. I have to say that I was expecting the drama and the characters to be slightly more comical but it seems like it is going to be a light comedy which will focus more on emotions and relationships. Bushra Ansari’s potential however has not been exploited to the maximum and the main focus was on Nyle’s (Yasir Hussain) character. This is the first time I watched Yasir Hussain perform and while he nailed the comic scenes especially the Pathan act, he did not fit into his role as the “boy” who did not have a lot of say in his house and was pushed around by his mother. Overall however Nyle’s character is interesting as long as it does not get too serious.

Shadi Mubarak is the story of Nyle whose mother (Bushra Ansari) is looking for the “perfect” girl she can get her son married to. No one has been able to meet her impossible standards even though her son is sick and tired of visiting people for the said purpose. The helper Ikhtiyar (Asad Siddiqui) also plays a major role in the household by concentrating more on keeping himself well-informed than his job! Nyle’s phupo (Gull-e-Rana) also lives with them and is usually the one supervising the house while the mom is busy looking for a rishta. Nyle’s friend Ahsan (Abdullah Farhat Ullah) is very close to him and in this episode he constantly showed his discontent with his married life, which was way too typical and these conversations weren’t exactly the best part of this episode. Ahsan’s wife Nimrah’s cousin Zoya meets Nyle when he comes to pick her from the airport and from there on Nyle decides to fool her. I have to say that Zoya and Nyle’s interactions were the best part of this episode, they were funny and entertaining. I was hoping that Kubra Khan will be playing a different role this time around since this was after all a comic serial but Kubra Khan’s character is a serious one and isn’t very different from many other roles she has played in the recent past. Yasir Hussain and Kubra Khan’s chemistry on the other hand makes this track one I would be looking forward to the most in the upcoming episodes. The actress playing Nimrah’s role is a fine addition to the industry, she is pleasant looking and she is a good actress too but her role so far is too plain.

This episode was directed really well and the production values were superb too, the script as a whole however is more fun than comical. The drama as a whole will provide lighthearted entertainment and most of the viewers will find themselves more involved in the track which covers the leads more than anything else. Some of the jokes which involved various illnesses were in bad taste and I feel that the jokes about shadi shuda zindagi have been done-to-death other than that the script as a whole seems decent enough. This drama could prove to be a light entertainment for the whole family but it could have been so much more entertaining if Bushra Ansari’s character was more humorous. Yasir Hussain’s Pathan act was the highlight of this episode. It was well written and nicely executed. This first episode was fast paced and if the drama maintains the same pace then it will be interesting to watch. In Nyle’s house however, there was more focus on Ikhtiyar’s relationship with everyone in the house instead of showing in detail how the family spent Eid together.

Shabnum is hopeful for revival of Pakistani cinema

Once we had a thriving and booming film industry producing more than fifty urdu films every year which produced many prominent artists. Shabnum was one such artist who ruled Urdu cinema for almost two decades. Shabnum was from East Pakistan which separated in 1971 to become Bangladesh. After fall of film industry in early 90’s Shabnum went back to Bangladesh, though she returned in mid 1990’s for a brief stay of two/three years till departing permenantly in 1998-99.

The most successful heroine of Urdu cinema Shabnum was invited by Goverment of Pakistan and awarded life time achievement award in 2012 along with her husband musician Robin Ghosh.

Recently Shabnum had a telephonic conversation with Pakistani media in which is expressed her excitement on the news of revival of Pakistani cinema. Shabnum expressed best wishes for new breed of film makers. She is thankful to Pakistanis for the way she was cherished and welcomed upon her visit three years ago. She said, she can never forget the love of Pakistanis.
Shabum also said condolence to Ms. Parveen Saeed Haroon wife of Saeed A. Haroon who recently passed away in Karachi.

Shabnam Signs the Sequel Of ‘Aina’

Urdu was not her first language, yet film star Shabnam became the poster girl for Lollywood in the 70s. She ruled the Pakistani cinema as she had it all from ethereal looks to grace and a powerful onscreen presence. There’s a good news for her fans because she is all set to appear in Pakistani film after decades.

The Ace film-maker Syed Noor is planning to make the sequel of ‘Aaina’ with Nadeem Baig and Shabnam in the cast. The director has approached Shabnam for a prominent role in the film and according to reports the actress has agreed to be a part of the film.

Shabnam attained stardom across Pakistan with the box office hit “Chanda” (1962). She was introduced to the Pakistani film industry by ‘Chocolate hero’ Waheed Murad, who gave her a lead role in his film “Samundar” in 1968.

Shabnam had earlier demanded a strong script for her comeback in Pakistani cinema and Syed Noor has assured her that the sequel’s story will be entirely different and interesting whereas it will also have memorable roles for both Nadeem and Shabnam.

The evergreen film actress of yesteryear Shabnam is back in Pakistan for Karachi Press Club. While Shabnam is not working in local cinemas anymore but she can still break a million hearts with her smile and charishma.

One of the celebrated actress of 70’s is highly overwhelmed with the love she’s receiving from Pakistan which she considers as a home. When asked if she’ll like to work in Pakistani films once again, the Bangladeshi actress replied that she’s willing to work in Pakistani cinemas again. “Artists and sportspersons cannot be held back by borders. We build bridges for friendships. I was in Pakistan over four years ago, in 2012, and I was surprised that even the younger generation here knew about me. They wanted me to do films here, and quite frankly I have no issues with that,” she said, adding that if she finds good roles specially written with her in mind, she was definitely going to think about it.

She gave Pakistani cinema the most significant years of her life and will always be an important part of the industry. It will be great to see her back in the films, which will also promote better relationships with Bangladesh.

Recently, Shabbir Jan revealed the name of the actor with whom he would never work and he also revealed that he didn’t work with her. Talking about a person he won’t work with, he said, “I would not work with Sadia Imam ever in my life because of some issues, actually, there was a time when I felt that things are messing up between us and now it will damage my home, she was getting too much into our family, we were very good friends and we went to northern areas for the shooting of our dramas when she came inside the room and hugged me infront of my wife, it was not a decent gesture from her when my wife already had an idea that we are not this much closer, she didn’t hug my wife and just hugged me, these are the kind of things which always create problems and wives don’t understand things”. He clarified that he had a close friendship with Sadia Imam and there was no affair between them but he took the decision of not working with her as a gesture of respect for his wife.
