Hareem Farooq is one of the few actors that won a huge fan following in a short span of time. According to Brandsynario, Hareem Farooq is producing her upcoming film, Parchi, which will be romantic comedy. She will also be playing the lead role in the film. Parchi will be directed by Azfar Jafri, who also happens to be the director of Jannan. The script is penned by Shafqat Khan, while Osman Khalid Butt, Azfar Jafri and Imran Kazmi are behind the screenplay. The film will be released under the banner of IRK Films, a company owned by Farooq and Imran Kazmi. Talking to Express Tribune, Kazmi revealed that the film is expected to release in October 2016.

Drama Sanam’s Aila, Hareem Farooq has an interesting project in hands. The actress who produced the romantic comedy film Jannan and was seen in Dobara Phir Se, is now all set to appear as the lead actor and producer of another romantic-comedy flick ‘Parchi’.

Parchi will be Hareem’s third project as a producer. The film will also be produced by Ali Kazmi. Parchi will be directed by Azfar Jafri, the director of Jannan. The film’s script has been penned by Shafqat Khan.

Speaking to Images Imran gave us a few deets about the upcoming venture titled Parchi.

“Parchi is a situational comedy, it’s in pre-production phase at the moment. The director is Azfar Jafri, who also directed Janaan . I am producing it along with Hareem,” he said.

So far Hareem Farooq and Janaan co-stars Ali Rehman and Usman Mukhtar have been confirmed as the leads. However, the film is in need of two more lead actors who have yet to be finalised. “We are currently holding auditions. Let’s see, I think in the next ten days we’ll have something confirmed.”

Imran explains that the focus is on making the film lighthearted and although the title is somewhat a giveaway, “he can’t disclose much about Parchi.”

“Since it’s a comedy film, we have tried to touch the topic of the film without any serious undertones, so that people can understand it more and have fun with it.”

He explained, “In the end cinema is all about escapism. It’s all about entertainment, there is so much tension in our homes that we’re hoping people will come to watch the film and have some fun before heading home.”

“For the music we’re planning something big. We had a song or two in Janaan which were pretty good but the rest I personally wasn’t very happy with. This time I’m trying my level best to ensure there’s not a single song that I’m at least unhappy with. So we’re working on that.”

“We’re trying to incorporate a lot of things that have not been done before and are also rather difficult. I can’t disclose them yet because we don’t even know if we can pull them off. But let’s see.”

Parchi will be shot in Pakistan and though it’s a comedy feature, “the content will have a serious and deeper meaning,” according to Imran.

Then I thought I would do films and also make my own because there weren’t any good ones coming out then.” Her debut film was a horror movie, Siyaah penned by Osman Khalid Butt, and it is then that she realized that she wants to work in films. “I realized that we will have to make films so our industry grows and more people come into it. Aisay kaam nahi chal sakta (Things cannot work out this way).”

She is working on film Parchi. “It’s a comedy film which I am producing and also acting in. With Parchee, we want to introduce new faces to the industry.”

She spoke fondly of her experience working in Dobara Phir Se. “I have learnt a lot from Mehreen [Jabbar] and the foreign crew we shot with. Considering I just started my own production, it was great to see how professional they are and I want to incorporate that in my work too.” Hareem admitted that she immediately agreed to star in Dobara Phir Se. “I said yes immediately! It has a very fresh feel and is not your typical, boy-meets-girl love story.”

She is best loved for playing Wali Suhaib Khan’s mother in Diyar-e-Dil, but playing an elderly woman was not a piece of cake. “It was a challenge and a lot of people told me not to take up the role. However, I believe if you want to change the industry, you have to work towards it. If I do the same role for 10 years, it wouldn’t matter. As long as you are an actor, you can be anyone so why restrict yourself?”

Hareem Farooq believes in versatility and experimenting. “If it’s a girl who is pretty, people make her cry and she becomes our heroine. During shooting, however, I told the team I would not cry anymore because that’s not how women are and that bothers me. The women I have been around are very strong and that’s why I do all kinds of characters, from leads to antagonists, young and old. I am even playing a bipolar girl.”

“The characters have to be written well and then, I can add the glamour. But it’s hard pulling off glamour with decency in Pakistan. When you want people to fall in love with you, it’s not just about looking a certain way.”

Hareem Farooq is coming with her new movie, ‘Heer Maan Ja.’ It seems like she wants unconditional support from audience whether the movie is good or bad because Pakistan’s film industy is still in infancy.

Hareem Farooq is a Pakistani theatre, film and television actress and a film producer, known for her work in the serial Diyar-e-Dil and Pawnay 14 August. She co-produced Janaan followed by her 2018 blockbuster Parchi. 

She spoke about how audience should support Pakistani cinema in her recent interview with Haroon Rashid on BBC Asian Network.

She continued “I’d say that’s true. You need to own everything right now,” she shared. “Bollywood, Hollywood, Tamilwood, they’re centuries old, while Pakistani cinema is probably just six years old. We talk about making something out of our country, and we want to take our cinema abroad.”

Farooq further added, “We want to tell people that what you get to see in the news is not Pakistan or the one you get to hear about from people who don’t even know what Pakistan is, right? You need to tell people that this is Pakistan; it is beautiful, it has colours, it has talent, it has everything.”

So, even if there is a bad film, you need to understand and our audiences need to understand, that we don’t have the technicians, the writers, or even the actors for films. Everyone is learning and the only reason why people are doing films is passion and it’s just purely passion, trust me on this.”

Every Pakistani wants to support their own industry but we urgently need to generate good content and stop making low-grade movies with poor script.

Pakistan Super League’s third edition is all set to kick off tomorrow in Dubai and Hareem Farooq will be the one hosting the opening ceremony of the biggest cricketing event of the year. This won’t be the first time Hareem will be hosting for an event she has previously hosted Hum Awards in 2017 held in Lahore.

When talking about hosting the PSL opening ceremony Hareem Farooq stated,

“It’s a moment of great pride for me to represent our great nation Pakistan at such a huge platform and that too on international ground! PSL is one of the biggest sporting events for our amazing nation, bringing us together and hosting the opening ceremony is an honor for me as a actor, as a producer and most importantly a Pakistani.”

The opening ceremony of PSL’s first season was hosted by Yasir Hussain and Sri Lankan model Stephanie Siriwardhana and the second season was hosted by Jeeto Pakistan star host Fahad Mustafa himself. It is a reality, people are not born evil, they become evil due to their circumstances or they do some actions which turn out to be bad but in reality they are not bad people. Masooma is not exactly innocent but she doesn’t think about the consequences of her impulsive or negative actions”

Talking about Bismil’s success, she said, “when I heard the story I found it a bit relatable because I knew a few people who have been through the same and when the drama went on air, I got feedback from multiple sources that it is quite common and there are many women who have been cheated on by husbands like this. I didn’t know it was quite a common practice and that is why it resonated with people and they started watching it”

I have a lot of weird pet names: my whole A-Level crew called me Lalum, as I was the only girl amongst 30 boys, my father calls me Limta and my mother calls me Heemu.

How many hours of sleep do you get every night on average?
When I am working, around three to four hours as I sleep at around 6:30am. When I am not working, I sleep for 20 hours.

I have never really been punished, but when I was eight years old I ran away from home and so my dada slapped me.

The weirdest thing I have received is a bloody letter — it actually had blood on it. I have had stalkers too.

Hareem Farooq is an actress and producer who has worked in both films and television. The starlet just played the vicious Masooma in Bismil and the drama broke records. She revealed that her parents have never pushed her to get married but this is a topic discussed at her house now. I have watched Titanic many times; although I find it a sweet love story, I am always fascinated by DDLJ. It was fun, romantic, and they fought for each other, which is a great form of love. You make things possible in love.”

Talking about the best quality in the person she loves, Hareem Farooq said, “We all want someone to fight for us, and when someone changes for you, it means they really worked hard to find you. And trust me, I don’t want to change people in love. To change yourself means you don’t want to hurt the one you love. Love shakes you for once. It has that power.” She further added that without heartbreak and pain, life would be dull and boring.

Talking about heartbreak, Hareem Farooq said, “Yes, I had a heartbreak, and at that time you feel that your world has fallen apart. I really felt it for a month; I was quite sad. But then I realized that life is beautiful, and I am still young, and I have a beautiful life ahead. It’s not the end of the world at all.”

Talking about her idea of love, Hareem said, “Yes, I love beautiful gestures in love, but I want respect. No relationship works without respect. There should be an element of respect in every relationship. I think this comes from my parents and my grandparents. Fake love doesn’t have respect. I still feel like a teenager when it comes to love. Love doesn’t mean possession. For me, love means I want to see the other person happy and the best version of himself. It’s not about possession.”

Bismil is trending these days and as can be expected Hareem Farooq has gotten appreciation for her convincing performance as Masooma while she is also getting a lot of hate for how evil her character is. Hareem Farooq is a film and television actor and producer and she works very selectively in scripts that she feels strongly for.

Hareem Farooq sat for an interview with BBC Urdu and addressed the criticism she has gotten for her weight gain during Bismil. She said that she knew that she was going through something in life and she had gained weight. She actually wanted to take 2 months to lose it but then she realized that hers is a normal body type which Pakistani women have and she went on and shot for the drama which is doing well now. She revealed that she has psoriasis and she still has marks on her face.

I was quite happy to see Hareem Farooq on the show. She looked absolutely gorgeous, and I think with films like Janaan and Dobara Phir Se all set to release, it was nice to see her talk about them.

A lot of young people aspire to become actors but only a few gravitate towards production, and Hareem Farooq happens to be one of them. She is a model, actress and also a producer. About this, Hareem said that people are always complaining about what they see on the big screen and they have ideas of their own about what should be shown in films, so she, along with her friends from Islamabad, decided to write, produce and star in their very own film, and that’s how Siyaah happened. Siyaah was a horror film written by Osman Khalid Butt and produced by Imran Kazmi. At the time, Pakistani cinema was not in the process of ‘revival’ but in spite of the flaws in the film, the team’s efforts were applauded. Hareem Farooq spoke highly of Imran Kazmi who happens to be a great childhood friend of hers, and along with him, she has also produced Janaan and Parchi.

Hareem Farooq revealed that Janaan and Dobara Phir Se are two very different films because while Janaan is a typical masala film, Dobara Phir Se touches upon relationships, friendships and things along those lines.

Hareem Farooq did theatre for five years, and during this time, she got to work with the wonderful Anwar Maqsood. She spoke fondly of Anwar Maqsood because he had so much to share with her and so much to teach her. Even in her shout-out, she mentioned his name because during her theatre days, he used to cook for her, too.

Hareem and Ali when visited Hassan Sheheryar’s show, were asked by the host about why they are always hanging out together and why they are invited to the shows together. He narrated that in a get together few days back both of them came together. HSY said that he had invited them both because he saw chemistry between them but what is the reason of them being always together. To this Hareem said that it basically is Islamabad connection because they both belong from there. Hareem said that coincidentally she and Ali are in Karachi on the same time that’s the reason of their hanging out together.

Ali while adding to the answer said that they have a larger group of friends at Islamabad and Osman Khalid Butt is one of them but he is so busy and his schedule doesn’t match with these two.

Recently Hareem Farooq made an appearance in Waseem Badami’s show Har Lamha Purjosh and made some shocking revelations about an accident that changed the course of her life and put her into depression.

The accident occurred in Islamabad at the end of 2013 completely broke Hareem’s right arm. Talking about the bad memory Hareem shared, “Since then I have never travelled without fastening my seat belt.”

“It was during my first drama project when this happened and lucky for me that the surgery went successful as doctors advised me to adopt natural healing process,” she added.

Describing the depression phase that occurred as a result of the injury, Hareem Farooq said that becoming handicapped after doing so much activity fell like a bomb shell on her.

Hareem shared that her friends and family supported her and brought her out of the depressive phase.

The Heer Maan Ja actress also said adding that the accident brought her closer to the God.

“It gave clarity to my mind as I realized respecting and giving importance to all those blessings bestowed upon me from the God,” Hareem said.
