After a long foreign craze, Geo TV is finally coming back to its own culture by showing the local content based on Pakistani artists. Draar (دراڑ)is an upcoming drama of Umera Ahmed, on ARY Digital starring Aijaz Aslam and Mansha Pasha. ARY Digital has already aired few promos of this drama. It is the second drama of Umera with ARY Digital after Daam (2010). Most of Umera Ahmed’s famous plays are produced by Hum Tv, the most recent one is Mohabbat Subah Ka Sitara Hai. Aijaz Aslam is working in dramas for past two decades and also owns the production house AA (Aijaz Aslam) Productions. So far AA productions has only produced dramas for ARY Digital, like the play Pachtawa starring Faysal Qureshi, Aijaz Aslam and Mahnoor Baloch.

Ertugrul, the Turkish series that traces back the history of one of the biggest Islamic empire, the Ottoman Empire, is currently being broadcast in Pakistan on PTV. The series was broadcast mainly because of the approval and insistence of the prime minister of the country, Imran Khan, who stated, Ertugrul, would allow people to trace back their Islamic roots and get in touch with the rich Muslim history.

Although the series is excellently directed with high production values and is being loved all over, a number of celebrities in Pakistan have taken a stand against it. But that focuses on an entirely different reason about how Ertugrul is eating up the business for the local drama industry.

However, one religious scholar, the very renowned Zakir Naik, recently came up with a fatwa about how watching Ertugrul was indeed haraam (not permissible in Islaam.)

In a video on social media, Zakir Naik is seen stating that Ertugrul is Haraam. “There are women without hijaab in the series, there is music in it, there are certain things in the series which go against a Muslim’s aqeedah so therefore it is not fully permissible in Islam.”

Adding further, Zakir Naik also stated, “There are no kissing scenes or love making scenes in the series like those Bollywood or Hollywood films, the bigger harams, but yes, there are certain things which make it Haraam. Therefore someone who is not watching Ertugrul, I will say not to watch it because it is Haraam.”

Member National Assembly (MNA) from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain has resigned from his seat in the lower house of parliament.

PTI MNA Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain Sunday night tweeted that he has sent his resignation as a member National Assembly. “Have sent my resignation as a member of the National Assembly,” tweeted Aamir Liaquat. “May Allah help and support Prime Minister Imran Khan and the PTI. Allah hafiz.”

However, this is not the first time that the PTI leader has announced his resignation. Last year in July, Liaquat had tweeted that he had had enough of his constituents’ suffering from load shedding hence he was resigning from the National Assembly.

Aamir Liaquat will be rendering his services to Express Media Group now as the President and also as Group Editor of religious pages of Daily Express.

The Express News kept on flashing the news on their channels for hours yesterday and there were hundreds of statements from Aamir Liaquat himself in which he said that he had never charged for Ramzan transmissions and he won’t be charging for it even this year. The Ramzan transmission will be hosted by Aamir Liaquat this year and it will be titled Pakistan Ramzan. Aamir Liaquat said that the transmission will start from Chaand Raat. The pages of Express Tribune also were filled with praised for Aamir Liaquat.

Tribune.com reported “Dr Aamir Liaquat is regarded as a pioneer in the country’s media industry, which emerged after 2000. Over the past 13 years, he has emerged as the identity of Pakistan and has played a vital role in interfaith and inter-sectarian harmony”

It also said “He dazzled the world media with his indefatigable energy by carrying out a 19-hour long Ramzan transmission while his last year’s ‘Amaan Ramazan’ transmission was acclaimed by such international meida organisations as CNN, BBC, FOX News as well as Arab and Indian media”.
