Bhai Episodes 22 & 23

0

Eek, eek, eek! So Saira gets married to the man who is still in love with her older sister, married and divorced that sister and that sister still pines for him. Eeek!
Ebad’s kidnappers finally let him go and I am not sure if the whole scenario of Ebad dashing to get to Saira was meant to make some sort of impact but it only made me laugh. Throw in the zalim samaaj in the form of the very annoying rickshaw driver and Ebad certainly did not stand a chance. He reaches Saira’s house only to find that she and Sufiyan are now wed. I do wonder why he bothers going to her house though – he only ends up being thrown out each and every time. But hey, full marks for persistence!

Ebad thankfully managed to go beyond the ‘meri baat tau sunnain’ that you would expect in such a scene and does yell that Ashraf was behind his kidnapping but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. Later, Ashraf’s father does say to his wife that he believed Ebad because Ashraf was certainly capable of pulling off such a stunt but felt it would not be wise to admit that in front of all the people gathered there and feels Saira is better off in her phuppo’s house anyway.

These episodes also introduced a new character – the shirt. The strange pinkish purple shirt that apparently Khadija had so ‘lovingly’ gifted Sufiyan and he so ‘lovingly’ treasures and only wears it to remember her but does not wear it for long in case ‘daagh na lag jaye’. I did sit with my heart in my mouth (sarcasm dripping here) when he wore it to go out to dinner with Saira and I kept thinking what if he dropped some food on the shirt! Horror!

pic1

But seriously – Saira and Sufiyan. Not only does it feel weird that they are together given that Sufiiyan still loves Khadija but then this constant ‘dukh’ sharing was very odd. So what happens next? They share their heartbreak with each other which will bring them closer and one day become soulmates? I did however feel that Saira is beginning to be a bit put off by Sufiyan’s constant parrot like repetition of his love for Khadija and maybe that is a good thing for if they are married now and meant to make it work then maybe things would move forward. I know the circumstances and the relation seem odd but I am of the opinion that if two people are married then at least try to make it work and get on with it rather than make each other and themselves miserable.

Another development in these episodes was Ifrah’s pregnancy. It amazes me each time – these people who without any medical test reports, any sort of examination wholeheartedly declare their diagnosis and begin their celebrations! Incredible! Well, Ifrah and Hammad are indeed expecting a child and I do not know why but I sort of hoped Ashraf would show a bit of compassion, a bit of interest. But he was as petty as I have ever seen him with refusing to have the mithai, the ‘no milk left for my chai’ comment and then stepping over the stuffed toy. I keep thinking he will relent at some point, such as at Saira’s rukhsati or when he hears of Hammad’s khushkabhri but this man is rigid.

Ebad has left for the U.S and is out of the picture – for now. Six months lapse and Hammad has passed his exam and is leaving for his training after which he will be able to take Ifrah and move to another city. Instead of Hammad moving, I do wonder why Ashraf does not move out. His entry into the house, from room to room is so obviously such a killjoy for the entire family that it would make sense if he left!

I feel now that we have established Ashraf is a completely horrid person who has messed up enough lives, it is time for payback time. I do not want to see Ashraf stoop further for I feel he has done enough. The pace of this drama has been decent enough so far so I hope not a lot of time is wasted on the Saira-shirt-Sufiyan track anymore!

I can’t help mention how lovely I thought the house looked lit up at the wedding. I understand the houses are not meant to be shown as big modern houses but the layout, the furniture and even phuppo’s house with that odd desk Sufiyan sits on in the middle of nowhere seem a bit strange but I did really like how pretty the lights were! Noman Ejaz has been amazing from the first episode and I can not imagine any other actor who could have carried out his role with as perfection as he has! His expressions, dressing, body language, accent – spot on!

PIC2

What makes me tune into Bhai each week is also the unpredictability. I suppose Ashraf will be made to pay eventually, he will realize how wrong he has been (or will he?) – but I just keep trying to guess what would happen that would change things because enough ‘big’ events have happened already! Khadija’s divorce, Ifrah marrying Hammad, Saira’s near death, Saira married to Sufiyan and now Ifrah expecting – and Ashraf only becomes even more bitter!

What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 21!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking, this episode gave me nothing to talk about. Almost the entire episode was based on the flashbacks which in other words makes it a filler episode. I am not sure what the producers of the show are trying to achieve here because the story of this drama was definitely not meant for these many episodes. I so wish that they had curbed their motive of profits & had wrapped the drama up within 16-18 episodes because it wouldn’t have ruined the charm of the drama. I really am finding it hard to sit through the episodes of Tere Mere Beech just because of this unnecessary stretching whereas what’s happening in the drama right now is exactly what we all wanted to see & were waiting for but sigh, the producers don’t really care about the viewers at all!!!

The entire episode was about flashbacks. The flashbacks that the terrible trio experienced about Hareem, the flashbacks Hareem had about her life with Fahad & the flashbacks Fahad had about Hareem too. I really hate to say this but I just can not tolerate Zahida & her howling anymore. I literally had to mute the TV when she showed up & also when they showed the flashbacks of Hareem & Fahad’s bickering because the noise was too loud & I definitely didn’t want to wake the entire suburb up at 2AM AEST. Even though the terrible trio had only 1 scene in this episode but it practically did nothing & sadly they opened the episode with those tears & it was enough to put me off for the rest of the episode.

Well, Hareem was still hopeful that may be Fahad will approach her & things will be right between them. It also showed that Hareem was hoping that things will get back to normal & she was ready to give Fahad a chance because she truly loved him but I am glad that Fahad didn’t beat around the bush & got straight to the point. Fahad dreads that Hareem might actually spill the beans in front of Tania & that is why, before that happened, he decided to show up at her place in order to make a deal with her. Fahad really thinks that money can fix everything & just because he is so obsessed with money, he thinks everyone around him endorses the same mentality too, but I am glad that the moment Hareem realized that Fahad will never change, she gave him a piece of her mind & told him to leave her without any misapprehensions that she will help him!

Apart from the very last scene, there was practically nothing new in this episode that happened. Hareem’s family missed her, Hareem missed her family, Hareem missed how things were between her & Fahad & Fahad also thought about the time he spent with Hareem & that’s about it. It is amusing that the editors used the ‘only’ new scene of this episode in the preview last week, in an attempt to show that things will move forward but that was the only thing that happened & there was nothing else in this entire episode.

Anyways, the preview of the next episode seems interesting because looks like Shehla will tell the truth to Hammad about Fahad & with that, I so hope that the drama ends next week because there is no point in stretching this drama as they have nothing left to offer at all. Well, I must say that the only good thing about this episode & the entire drama is Sanam Chaudhry, I really really like how she has changed her styling through out the drama in order to depict her overall condition & circumstances & also, she looked really very pretty. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this filler episode of Tere Mere Beech!

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

PS: Posting this review within 20 minutes after the episode ended shows the content this episode had, which is next to nothing, so, please producers, take the heed & end it ASAP!

Dil Lagi – Episode 6

Anmol and Mohid are finally husband and wife but this most certainly is not the beginning of a happy married life. This was another episode in which the story was driven by Anmol’s impulsive decisions. Anmol in a way has surrendered so that she can be in a position to fight a new battle. She is very certain that Mohid will not spare anyone who ‘attempts’ to marry her therefore she decided to be Mohid’s wife hence in a way Mohid won but she intends to make things very difficult for him. Anmol made it very clear that there was no place for Mohid in her heart but now she had the license to live in his house. Anmol has been shown as a very head strong girl who will not spare anyone who tries to mess her life in any way therefore her decision was driven by this instinct rather than the pressure from her mother. Her mother and sister’s future wasn’t the primary reason why she took this step but making sure that Mohid pays for his mistakes was the main motivation behind her actions. This recent development reminded me of Rana’s decision to get married to Adeel and the reason behind it. The huge difference between these two dramas however is that firstly Anmol is very different from Rana, when she says she will make someone pay for something they did, she will make sure it gets done! Secondly, although Mohid did everything in his power to force Anmol to be his life partner but once he realized he could not make someone love him, he backed out completely and most importantly he did not force Anmol to marry him on gunpoint.

dillagi1

So far we have seen Mohid’s mother being extremely flexible with her son but in tonight’s episode the viewers saw her losing her cool and for the first time she judged Anmol for her actions. She thinks that this nikkah took place solely because Anmol pressurized Mohid into it and fails to see everything that Mohid has done in the past. We also saw her trying to ensure that no one ever found out how this nikkah took place. Saba Hameed completely stole the show today with her brilliant performance. Watching her give a long lecture on ‘sadgi’ and then talking about a grand valima actually made me feel for her!! I felt for both the mothers while watching tonight’s episode more than any other character.

Sabeeha was already unhappy with her situation and now that all this has happened she thinks she has the right to do things her way too. Although the man she is involved with does not sound like the kind of man who will be able to accept her if his family is unwilling to do so but she is still willing to take this big step. Sabeeha is clearly sick and tired of living a life according to her mother’s wishes therefore she also plans to run away. The question is will Anmol help her do that? When Anmol’s friend gave her the black duppata she was covering herself with, she said it was not hers. Was it Sabeeha’s duppata?

dillagi2

This episode was very filmy; too many impulsive decisions and a heroine who went ahead and did things which most women would never even dare to do. Although Anmol’s character is very head strong and at times unreasonable but she has her vulnerabilities. She had to go ahead and get married to a man she does not love and will never love only because her actions are governed by her ego. Anmol’s derives pleasure out of getting back at people who mess with her but how happy can something like this make a person and most importantly for how long?? Mehwish Hayat once again gave a superb performance although all the decisions which Anmol took in tonight’s episode were just plain outrageous. Hamayun Saeed has managed to bring out the best in his character by showing a very soft and sensitive side of Mohid.

The preview of the next episode showed Mohid’s mother trying her best to make Anmol follow rules of her haveli but Anmol wants to set some new rules of her own.

How many of you watched this latest episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it. If you missed it, watch it on http://www.dramasonline.com

Aabro – Episode 18!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro didn’t take the story forward much but whatever I saw, I enjoyed it, having said that, it won’t be a lie if I say that I am dreading a slowed down pace once again. I so want them to keep up the pace & wrap the drama soon without ruining the charm that has been created due to the recent episodes.

So, Ali & Aabro have only one wish & that is seeing Afsheen becoming a doctor. Aabro believes Afsheen can become a doctor but Ali shares his hesitance with her because he knows that they can’t bear the expenses. I must say, I loved all the scenes of Afsheen because she happens to be the only good thing that has happened to Ali & Aabro, so she literally lights up their life & her surroundings as well.

It was quite naturally shown that even though Aabro trusts Afsheen to the core, she still doesn’t hold back in keeping a check on her. It is only because of her own insecurities & due to her own past but despite that, the way she has been a strict parent to such a perfect child goes to show that Aabro never really stopped being a parent to Afsheen & even though she trusts her, she not even for a second sat down without a worry that her daughter will never do the things that Aabro herself did when she was her age.

I must say, Aima got way more coverage than required & I didn’t enjoy that bit because it took the story no where. We already know that Fauzia hasn’t raised her kids properly but even though Ahmed is nice, Aima is out of control, so there’s no point in showing it again & again how spoiled Aima is. Also, when it comes to the actress playing the character of Aima, I must say, I still see her as a child artist & she has such a baby face that no where does she look like a student of 11th standard (probably 17 y/o) which is why I feel that is another reason why I didn’t really see her track important because the choice of actress wasn’t good & she is a complete misfit in this drama. I think the girl who was playing the role of Aima’s friend would’ve done a far better job because she looked appropriate for a character of a 17 y/o girl.

I once again enjoyed all the conversations Ahmed had with & about Afsheen. He really likes her & more than liking her, he respects her that is why he feels for her too as he knows how Afsheen gets mistreated by his grandmother, mother & now his sister for no good reason. It was good to see that Ahmed inherited some level of compassion & humanity from his father, that is why despite seeing how Ali’s family gets treated by the rest of the people, he hasn’t let any of that affect the relationship he has with them.

Well, for Zubaida the only Urdu proverb that came to my mind was ‘rassi jal gai par bal nahi gaya’. Her bitterness was alright, her interference was alright too, her being rigid was still alright as well, but what most certainly wasn’t alright was how she put a blame on Afsheen saying that she was trapping Ahmed & she was cunning, like seriously, I just don’t get why Zubaida said all that because she herself has seen how Afsheen has been raised & what her personality is & what her likes & dislikes are, so even if at this stage of her life she can’t really read & understand people, then she has wasted her entire life. Zubaida herself has seen how Aima & Ahmed have been raised & how different Afsheen is from them, so seeing her say those things made me feel disgusted. It is absolutely shameful that being a grandmother, she would accuse her granddaughter of something like this. It is sad that even after all these years, Zubaida’s mentality hasn’t changed where in stead of worrying about an outdoorsy Aima, she was more concerned about Afsheen, who is known for being a bookworm. Honestly speaking, I was glad that Zubaida got told off by Aima about the way she treats Afsheen, I guess that was the only good thing that Aima said & did!

Anyways, this episode just focused on showing some more characteristics of the newly introduced characters Afsheen, Ahmed & Aima. I must say, the actors playing the characters of Afsheen & Ahmed were chosen wisely & they fit perfectly in the roles that have been assigned to them but the girl playing the role of Aima is a complete misfit & just because she has appeared in numerous dramas, she was cast for this role, which I think was a wrong choice. I think that girl should stick to playing the roles of a 12 year old because she most certainly doesn’t look like a teenager to me. Anyways, I was hoping to see Zafar in this episode but the news of his death came as a shock because I was wishing to see whether Zafar has forgiven Ali & Aabro after all these years. Well, I guess that question will now remain unanswered, sigh!

Overall, this episode was good & I really really liked all the scenes of Afsheen & Aabro. It is good to see that Afsheen’s character has been written with a lot of detailing that is why most of the things she says or does show what sort of a girl she is. I wish they cut back on the coverage that they give to Aima & focus more on Afsheen. Also, I so am not looking forward to this chain of accusation initiated by Zubaida that now is directed towards Afsheen. Anyways, I must say Maheen Fayyaz has improved a lot, even though she still sounds robotic at times but she still has improved, Noor Hassan, Ahmed Zeb & Farah Shah have done a great job too. I must also add that the girl playing the character of Afsheen is a very natural actress & she performed all her scenes effortlessly & that is why she has become such a treat to watch. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Cheers,

Bollywood’s FAN record opening

Bollywood films are extremely popular in Pakistan especially the one starring any Khan (Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shahrukh Khan) in it. The last released film of any Bollywood’s Khan was Dilwale in December 2015 which earned around 21 crore on Pakistani Box office and became the most successful film of Shahrukh Khan in Pakistan.

Now another Bollywood film FAN starring Shahrukh Khan is released on 15th April 2016. As expected the film stormed the box office on its opening day. Despite a working day on Friday 15th April 2016 the film has earned massive well above 1.75 crore which is the highest opening day for any film in 2016. The previous best was 1.40 crore by an Urdu film Ho Mann Jahan released on 1st January 2016.

Seeing such massive earning on its first day, FAN is expected to make the record of highest opening weekend of 2016 as well. The best opening weekend record of 2016 is also with Ho Mann Jahan which earned around 4.60 crore on its opening weekend.

FAN is pulling masses at multiplexes as well as the old single screen cinemas. The massive success of the film at single screen cinemas has resulted in such record breaking opening.

As per media reports FAN has no songs and no heroine so its huge success can only be credited to the popularity of Shahrukh Khan. His name is enough to pull cine goers in Pakistan towards cinema halls.

Like many other Bollywood films FAN is also distributed by Geo Films/IMGC. To promote the film Geo News has provided priority coverage to FAN in all its news bulletins. Geo News also sent their most senior anchor person Hamid Mir to conduct the interview of Shahrukh Khan which was aired last week.

Like Geo News, its printing division Urdu Daily Jang is also covering FAN with exclusive articles published daily like the one below which is published today.

What Happened When Americans Watched “Angel”

0

Taher Shah has succeeded in getting the publicity he was looking for when he came up with his new song “Angel”. He takes pride in the fact that his creativity has won him so many fans. In an interview he also said that he was getting a lot of offers for commercials and even special appearances in films including films from across the border and Hollywood.

2

Few American from the US Embassy in Islamabad were divided in a set of two each and were shown this music video for the first time. They were asked to say whatever they felt about the video out loud and the reactions were very amusing. Some felt sorry for the poor kid who was in the video and there were others who questioned what was meant by “mankind angel”!! There were also some who thought the tune was very catchy and many of them liked the cinematography and colors in the video. They also could not make out whether the people in the video were dressed as angels or fairies.

Sehra Main Safar – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, this was hands down one of the best episodes of Sehra Main Safar & I also must say that this drama has shown us probably the best closure to a messy relationship ever. This episode was intense, emotional & perfect in every aspect & what made it even better was Zarnish Khan’s phenomenal performance.

So, Ayaaz just knew what he was doing & also because he had a way of reaching out to Annie, he mustered up the courage & went ahead with his plan of informing Iqra about everything that he saw. It was quite intelligent of Ayaaz that he clicked Annie & Shehryaar’s pictures to be presented as an evidence to Iqra. Iqra would’ve never believed Ayaaz if it wasn’t for those photos but just because she herself saw Annie at Taimur’s wedding & saw the earrings she was wearing, Iqra had no choice left than to believe Ayaaz because she couldn’t help putting the pieces together & solving the puzzle immediately. Iqra’s approach was good where she wanted to have a conversation with Annie. Any girl in such a situation would want to do that but what made Iqra different was that she never wanted to meet Annie in order to beg her to leave her husband for her. She just wanted to get the confirmation in order to believe that both Ayaaz & Iqra weren’t mistaking the situation.

I so wish they hadn’t shown Nuzhat as a negative character because she is at side-st of all the side characters, so her being negative didn’t really make an impact & seemed unnecessary. Yes, her link with Annie was believable considering how Annie works in a parlor so the way Ayaaz got Annie’s number through Nuzhat was convincing & realistic but other than that, the whole scene of Nuzhat telling Taimur to not involve Ayaaz in his business seemed forced. Anyways, Ayaaz got Annie’s number & Annie being her bold self not only agreed to meet him but she thought that introducing Shehryaar to a random guy would be a great idea too. I really liked how each & everyone was planning something on their own like Nuzhat wanted Ayaaz to get insulted, Annie wanted to boast about her boyfriend in front of a complete stranger, but it all turned out to be a complete package & that too in Iqra’s favor.

Coming to the show-down scene, I really liked the way it was written, the dialogues that were chosen, the way the entire scene was directed & how well it was enacted too. It was the most important scene of the entire drama & it was amazing to see them putting just the right amount of hard work that was needed to pull it off. Ayaaz knew that he’ll be able to get Annie’s confession about her relationship with Shehryaar but both Iqra & Ayaaz never really thought that Annie will take it a step further & invite Shehryaar to the shenanigans too which will serve as the the last nail in a coffin. Iqra found out everything she wanted to know & all the things she said to Annie were spot on. Annie really needed to know that Shehryaar wasn’t trust worthy & how he wasn’t even worthy enough for Iqra to be begging him from Annie. Iqra knew she was strong enough & she also knew that it was Shehryaar who needed her & not Iqra who needed a man like him. I loved how no further justification were needed & no explanations were made, Iqra walked out that instance as she was done with him. I call it a perfect closure!

I really liked how Iqra’s parents consoled her & showed her their support because at times like these, girls going through such a tough time really need a safety net to fall back on & her parents provided that for Iqra proving that their love for her was unconditional. Iqra didn’t even convince her parents & just when she said that she wanted a divorce, they agreed because they knew that their daughter wasn’t the one who was at fault & ending a messy relationship doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. I was pleasantly surprised actually that Iqra’s mother who was quite conservative was perfectly fine with her daughter’s decision & not only that, she told her that she will support her no matter what happens, which was refreshing to see.

I must say, I really really liked this episode because it was different & the treatment all the situations got was refreshing to see too, where the girl wasn’t seen thinking about forgiving her husband’s infidelity because she needed him, she knew her life was worth more than living with a guy who never really loved & respected her, it was also refreshing to see the parents being supportive of their daughter’s choices & decisions because they had this faith in her that she was better off without a loser like Shehryaar.

It was good to see the karma getting back at Shehryaar but even then he was worried about holding on to one of the ladies at least because both of them did some earning, so if not Iqra then Annie was still an option for him. I must say I had a laugh at the scene where Shehryaar was so frustrated but he couldn’t afford to throw his cellphone considering it was expensive & he was a miser. But yes, I must say, I most certainly don’t understand the sudden realization that Annie got & also her response didn’t convince me one bit because the way she seemed surprised at the things Iqra told her about Shehryaar were the things she herself should’ve had an idea about. Ohkay, I understand, she must’ve thought that Shehryaar was buying all these gifts for her from his own pocket but the way she was like ‘tum hum dono ko dhoka de rahay the’ seemed unrealistic because she herself knew that the guy she was dating was married & was mooching off of his wife in order to save up the money to get married to her in the end, so how come this thought never really crossed her mind that all the expensive things he started gifting to her ‘after his marriage’ could’ve belonged to his wife & also before this meeting she was totally cool with the fact that her boyfriend was married? Annie’s track & reaction was a little unconvincing but other than that, the entire episode was brilliantly done.

I must say, Zarnish Khan has impressed me yet again with her phenomenal & effortless performance, she really has given Iqra’s character her heart & soul & it obviously shows. The preview of the next episode didn’t promise much but yes, I don’t really get why’d Iqra want to visit Shehryaar’s parents house before leaving him, let’s see. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this brilliant episode of Sehra Main Safar & tell me how much did you enjoy watching it.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Muhammad Aamir Gives Blunt Replies To Nadia Khan

0

Nadia Khan has great confidence, no one can deny that and that is why when she invites guests at her show and asks them personal questions, they are intimated by the confidence with which she inquires about their personal lives. Muhammad Aamir however proved to be a different guest who connected every question with Nadia Khan’s own life in some way. Nadia Khan’s confidence was not shaken by his replies but neither was Muhammad Aamir intimidated by these questions. Also, he did not give her any replies which she wanted from him that would create some kind of controversy.

When Muhammad Aamir talked about PSL he said that it was too early to judge whether it was a failure or success. To this Nadia asked whether he had learnt all this wisdom while he was in the jail (a correctional facility) in England. His reply to this question was,

“Tough times come in everyone’s life. I am sure you have seen many tough times in your life too. Time teaches you a lot, I am sure time has taught you a great deal too. You must think some times that 5 years ago I used to do something in a wrong way. “

2

It was for the first time that someone on Nadia Khan’s show turned the tables without being too rude but by being honest. She also said that all the cricketers were very bad actors. To this he replied that cricketers were trained to play cricket and not do acting. He said,

“I think you have something against cricketers. We also say that actors cannot play cricket, the don’t know how to hold a bad or throw a ball. It is the same with us!”

Nadia Khan also said that she agreed with the suggestion that cricketers shouldn’t have high wages but they should only be rewarded with big amounts when they perform well. To this he replied,

“Then Nadia Khan should only be paid well too when her show is up to the mark otherwise she should not be paid.”

Everyone should watch this video clip!

Nouman Javaid Talks About His Suicide Attempt

0

The news of Nouman Javaid’s suicide attempt went viral when he was admitted to the hospital few weeks back. His family kept on denying that he had tried to take his own life and the admin on his facebook page too posted a message from him saying that a gas leak in his room left him unconscious. There were however sources in the hospital which revealed that he had tried to commit suicide.

2

Nouman Javaid and singer Fariha Pervaz got married in a secret ceremony less than a year ago but they grew apart because of some property related issues. There were speculations that Nouman tried to take his life because of his failed marriage. Nouman recently talked to Express Tribune about the incident and this time he was willing to share the real story. He shared that he had taken some 50 sleeping pills in an attempt to end his life. He said,

“I was in depression for quite some time before finally attempting suicide. I was facing issues in life but I wish to make it clear that my marriage has not ended yet…. Secondly, Fariha was not the only reason behind my depression; there were a number of other things involved.”

4

Nouman regrets his decision to commit suicide and wants to start over. He shared,

“Although I am not well but I feel positive about my future. I have already started practical work. I am currently busy singing for a new film project. The name of the film is yet to be decided and we are in the process of finalising the cast.”

3

He also said that he wanted to take steps to save his marriage.

“I am making efforts to convince her and I am hopeful that everything will turn out fine……I am grateful to my well wishers who have supported me during crucial times by showing their love on social media.”

Fariha Parvez has not talked about this incident with the media. We wish Nouman Javaid all the best for his future endeavours.

Kisay Chahoon – Episodes 21 & 22

0

Aaaaaaaaaaand she’s back!! Mareena with her super bright gleaming eyes, menacing smile makes her appearance at the very end of the episode. Seems like she was able to ‘dodge’ the American doctors after all huh?

Ameer returns home along with his mother only to find Hamza dropping Mehru home. I really wish this guy would grow a backbone now for this timid nature has gone on for far too long. That – was my initial thought. But then Mehru reminded me of the ‘understanding’ she and Ameer have when she tells Hamza that she is only with him temporarily. So I remember the conversation she had with him at the dinner table when she said she only needed to be with him until she was able to financially support herself.

But Mehru confuses me. She is ‘nice’ to Ameer, cooks for him, worries when he is late. She tells him he is a good person but she can never give him the love or the respect he deserves. So what is this all really now? Ameer and Mehru waiting for Mehru to become financially independent and then leave? And Ameer secretly hoping she may fall in love with him before that? Although it is nice not to have to sit through Mehru yelling and treating Ameer with disdain, but this whole scenario does not seem to work either. I wish now truly that something would happen for this state of affairs has been dragged on enough. I know Ameer seems resigned to the state of his marriage – but I am getting annoyed now!

PIC2

Ameer’s mother instantly sensed all was not well between Mehru and Ameer. She did mean well when she mentions the doctor issue and I get that the mum in laws in our dramas and even in real life to an extent start getting impatient about ‘khush khabri’ but it is the way it is talked about which is disturbing as if it were some sort of accusation on the woman, even in the most normal of circumstances. And ‘yahaan tau issue he alag hai!’

Mehru is not very convincing with her ping pong game of running to Hamza for help at the drop of a hat and then being outraged at anyone suggesting she has questionable feelings for him. If she really does not feel anything for him and knowing the history between them would it not be the most sensible and rational thing to do to quit her job there and not contact him? True, tongues do wag but in this case, she is not justified in giving them a reason to wag in the first place! Either be with Ameer or be with Hamza!

I say that in each review now so I sound like a broken record. Which is why I hope things are shaken up a bit in the next episode. Mehru was totally out of line sharing her marital life details with Hamza no matter how agitated she was and the web Hamza oh so innocently seems to be spinning, telling Mehru that Ameer is too good for the likes of them and it would be the right and kind thing to leave him is shrewd on his part.

This drama was nice to watch with Ameer’s comical role and I liked the direction and acting of the lead characters. Even the supporting characters like Maryam, Mehru’s parents and Ameer’s mother performed really well. But the story seems to be dragging now.I want to see the story move on and although the next episode preview shows Mareena had Hamza watched while she was away it still does not seem that much will come out of that confrontation. Ameer, Mehru and Hamza all seem to be martyrs and Mareena the evil Joker (Batman wala Joker). Do us a favour Mehru and please decide keh ‘kisay chahoon’ and do something about it asap!

How do you feel about the way the story is progressing? Would love to hear your thoughts on these episodes!

“Aamir Liaquat Will Be The Hero In My Next Film” – Syed Noor

0

At a time when all the major players in entertainment are investing their efforts and funds in the revival of Pakistani cinema it is sad to hear that a veteran writer, director and producer like Syed Noor does not have much hope for the revival of Pakistani cinema. While talking to Dawn Images Syed Noor said,

“Frankly, considering all the damage caused during the past couple of years, I have little hope for its recovery. My guess was that it might take five to seven years for it to get back on its feet. It’s a miracle what has happened during these past two years. But don’t go measuring its success ratio just now as it’s the lowest in the world. I mean to say that a constant flow of film production is necessary for the success of any film industry and the proper cultivation of cinema.”

He also said that he was offended when LSA gave him life achievement award. To him this meant that he should sit home now because there was no more room for him. Syed Noor still thinks that he has what it takes to give Pakistani cinema something people will remember for a long time because he is very creative. He said,

“I continued to accept challenges as they came along and shaped my ideas and destiny. I’m still sailing this ship. Unfortunately, my colleagues didn’t and were left behind.”

1

He also thinks that Pakistani film industry does not need the title of Lollywood. He said,

” It’s all a fuss. There is only Hollywood, no Bollywood or Lollywood. It should only be called the Pakistan film industry and nothing else!”

Syed Noor is still unhappy with Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy for stealing his idea. The most important news he shared was as follows,

“I wrote a screenplay four years ago, keen to produce a different kind of message-oriented film. I was wondering whom to cast opposite Saima when I came across Dr. Amir Liaquat’s show and my heart said that I’d found the right man. I decided to convince him to sign my film. Initially, Amir Liaquat was reluctant to accept my offer but when I narrated the story to him, he agreed. He will be my next hero with Saima as the leading lady.”

4

Syed Noor said that the film will only go into the shooting phase when Aamir Liaquat is available.

Mein Sitara – Episode 5

This episode of Mein Sitara was phenomenal. It is refreshing to see something different and entertaining on television for a change. Jharna’s character and the way Aisha Gul has translated it on screen makes the viewers look forward to her scenes. Jharna has faith in her husband but at the same time like any other wife she cannot see her husband getting influenced by another woman therefore she needs to make sure that Naseem Dil Ruba is sidelined in the next film. Jharna rightly pointed out that she could spot a talented individual when she saw one because she was the primary inspiration behind Farhad’s career in films . The best aspect of this drama so far is that it is totally free of clichés. Farhad Sethi might be over impressed by Naseem Dil Ruba but he is not being unfaithful to his wife. He admires Naseem’s talent but she is using this admiration to have her own way. Most of us thought that Naseem will succeed in blackmailing Farhad Sethi but apparently there is no such secret and Farhad is genuinely impressed by Naseem’s talent. Naseem on the other hand has completely different intentions. She wants everything her way and makes subtle and not so subtle passes on Farhad too which he completely ignores.

This episode laid the foundations for the transformation in Surraya’s life from Surraya to Sitara. Jharna knows that she can trust Surraya with anything therefore having her on the sets of the film will be beneficial for her. Farhad’s attitude towards Surraya is very different from that of Jharna’s. He cannot stand her and it will actually be interesting to see their interactions once Surraya enters the world of films. Surraya will do anything to be a part of the film industry and with Jharna’s help she will have a very good chance to make a career in films.

MS

The best aspect of tonight’s episode just like all the previous ones was the clarity with which the story is being taken forward. There are no unnecessary secrets or mysteries; the motives of the characters and their personality traits are as clear as daylight. This aspect of the drama in particular coupled with the brilliant acting by all the actors and especially by Aisha Gul who always manages to steal the show single-handedly has given this drama the edge it needed. Saba Qamar looked good in her new hairstyle otherwise the bangs on her face were somewhat distracting. She is a brilliant actress but her role so far is limited therefore I am waiting to see her once Surraya turns into Sitara. Mikael Zulfiqar owns his role, the credit for that goes to the director as well who managed to extract such good performances from all the actors. Meera’s acting is spot on, she did not give me anything to complain about in tonight’s episode but I must confess that she looks as old as Jharna. Naseem is a young budding artist therefore this role should have been given to someone younger.

Nowadays when most writers and producers want to play it safe by showing stories which revolve around love triangles or the trials and tribulations of newly-wed girls, it is refreshing to watch a drama which has something new to offer. The credit for this goes to the entire team of the drama. We have watched many dramas in which production houses invested lots of money on sets, star cast and outfits but the stories and characterizations were so weak that these dramas failed to have an impact. Mein Sitara however has all the right ingredients in the right proportion. The director and the actors have done complete justice to a script which could have been a train wreck in the hands of an unskilled director. Although there is excessive dancing and singing in the drama but the development in the story is not effected in any way by these songs and dances. The dances are decent enough and the songs take you back to the 60s.

In the preview of the next episode Jharna is seen grooming Surraya to meet the requirements of the film industry and perhaps the outside world! The real story will start from the next episode, looking forward to it.

How many of you watched tonight’s episode of Mein Sitara? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it. If you missed it, watch it on http://www.dramasonline.com

Bhai – Episodes 14-21 – Ashraf’s Revenge!

0

Whoa, whoa, whoa!! I had heard of ‘hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ but Ashraf Bhai nay tau auraton ko peechay chor diya hai!! What madness ensued in these episodes!

Ashraf had vowed that if he did not get the ‘love of his life’ he would move heaven and earth to make sure none of his siblings were happy in love too. He manages to convince his father that it is in the best interest of the family that Saira is wedded off to Jawad. Jawad is reluctant but lacks the courage to be able to stand up to Ashraf. Saira however managed to say no at the time of nikkah, drawing strength from Ebad showing up at that moment but Ashraf sends him and his parents packing – again!

You know, I feel there should be another category in these drama awards nominations – top ‘thappar’ receiver and the top two neck- to -neck nominees for that would be these two sisters – Sajal and Saboor Ali. The way Saira has been beaten up, slapped repeatedly on the face, neck wrung like a duck – it has truly been excessive in my opinion. I do not understand why it had to be shown so many times and to such lengths! We get it, Ashraf will beat up Saira at the drop of a hat – must we see it happen repeatedly in every second episode.

Anyways, egged on by Ashraf, his father Muneer Ahmed begins to feel that maybe the only honourable thing to do is take Saira’s life. I sat there agape watching Saira gulp down the milk which he had poisoned and when he stood outside her door listening to her begging for help and dying I thought okay, this is the point that he wakes up and realizes it was a bad dream – but no! I only snapped out of my stupor when my daughter chimed in with ‘see mama, she does not want to finish her milk either’. Kids – I thought she was busy watching her cartoon on tv rather than peering into my laptop! Saira does however survive (surprise surprise!).

Quite a lot of screen time was focused on Muneer Ahmed ‘bhatkofying’ in the streets after his murderous act which at one point to me seemed to drag. I waited to see the moment when he sees Saira again after she comes home for he seemed to lack the courage to face her but I was so disappointed. I am not the sort who jumps up from her seat yelling ‘wah wah’ whattay dialogue – but I did expect something a bit more emotional, a bit tear jerking than Saboor sniffling and saying ‘aap meray maalik hain Aba’. Uff!

Muneer Ahmed begins to change now – taking a stand for his daughters especially Saira. I found this change in him convincing though because he was always trying to stop Ashraf from hitting his sisters and his wife does say to him that he has a soft spot for Saira. By no means was he justified in doing what he did, but I liked how after realizing what a grievous sin he almost committed, he goes about making an effort to change things for his daughters. I really felt the impact of that stare he gave Ashraf when Saira comes back home from the hospital and then says to him ‘ bas kar day’.

Meanwhile, Rabab and Jawad are playing out their own romance. I had spoken too soon when I said Rabab doesn’t say much or her role does not have much to offer. She proved me wrong! Her mouth opened and then the words just kept coming out. I had hoped Ashraf would not react the way he did when Jawad told him he wants to marry Rabab – but deep down I suppose I knew he would do just that.

Ashraf, Ashraf, Ashraf – this man’s hatred knows no bounds. I felt such an urge to be able to get into his head and rewire his brain. He is so angry, so indignant, so convinced that his way of thinking is so right that he does not seem to understand that there is not a single person in his family who agrees with him, not even his father now. I thought he was truly fond of Jawad but the way he keeps throwing the ‘hamaray tukron par palla hai’ makes me wince although I am so glad Muneer Ahmed gave him the shut up call when he said that he was not raised on anyone’s ‘tukras’ but was raised in his own phuppo’s house and that was that.

The two goons, Mr Colgate and Mr Leopard, that have kidnapped Ebad must have volunteered for their roles. Their scenes and acting were truly strange.

PIC3

This ‘shaadi zaroor honi hai’ regardless of who or what in our dramas is getting a bit nauseating. Marriage has truly become a joke and everyone in this family is playing their own game, trying to achieve their own means but then phuppi makes the master of all moves to which Muneer Ahmed adds his own touch! How could she suggest – sorry, force Sufiyan to marry Saira when he and Khadija had been in love and yes divorced now but what bad taste that he be forced to marry the sister of the woman who is still in love with. And then Muneer Ahmed sends Ashraf off to call Jawad but it appears he is doing it to get him off his back and he is all for Saira marrying Sufiyan with Saira also weepingly agreeing, with Khadija’s blessing. What a loonybin really!

These episodes were engaging I have to admit. I watched them wanting to know what happens next because I think that is what is the best aspect of this drama that it is not predictable – right down to the tech savvy English speaking kidnappers! Ashraf’s phrases did throw in a few comical moments which were a welcome distraction from the otherwise dark scenes of Saira’s almost death. The term ‘love pond’ that he threw at Hammad and Ifra really made me laugh as did when he says to Jawad when he hears Ebad and his parents have come with the rishta again that ‘mein zara unn ki shampoo kar aoon’. His nicknames for Saira (choosni) and Hammad (duddu) could actually pass off as endearing from an older brother except he seems to really hate them.

I really hope Saira does not get married to Sufiyan nor to Jawad. Not because she does not love either of them but because her sisters love them and vice versa! Awkward!

Noman Ejaz is such a versatile actor. He has portrayed Ashraf perfectly – whereas I did not hate him as much earlier when he was trying to woo Ifra, I really can not but help be aghast at how he is going all out to make life miserable for his family. Salman Shahid is also a great actor although I wish he did not have to speak the way he does. I realize it is because he has had a stroke and that is also the reason Ashraf has more control but I still wish his speech was not so slurred. It is truly difficult to understand him at times.

On a lighter note to detract from the intense and sometimes dark moments these episodes offered, I thought I would mention how I noticed that the couples Ashraf is bent on breaking or has already broken really did seem to be ‘made for each other’. The ‘surmas’ (Rabab and Jawad), the ‘please come beat us up’ (Saira and Ebad), the ‘lanky ones’ (Khadija and Sufiyan) and the ‘lipsticks – or maybe to add some Ashraf-ness the ‘laal bulliyans’ (Ifra and Hammad).

PIC 1

PIC2

No wonder Ashraf feels so complexed – for if he were to find someone for himself that would be similar to him it would be someone like those below!

PIC4

It is chaotic, loud, messed up, at times depressing – but Bhai is entertaining I have to admit. Have you all been watching Bhai and these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Stars Gather In Dubai For ARY Film Awards 2016

0

ARY Films have contributed a great deal to the revival of Pakistani cinema. The biggest hit of this year Jawani Phir Nahi Aani was a huge success with ARY backing it up. They also have first children’s animated film 3 Bahadur to their credit. Both these films were co-productions but there is no denying the fact that ARY has done everything in its power to bring cinema goers back to watching Pakistani films. Janaan, Dobara Phir Se, Lahore Se Aagay, Yalghaar, Waar 2 and Arth 2 are some of the films that are on their cards for this year.

ARY Films is holding its award ceremony on 16th April in Madinat Arena, Madinat Jumeirah Dubai. Fawad Khan will also be present on the event, something that ARY has been promoting to attract his fans. Those celebrities who will be performing on stage on the award show include Faysal Qureshi, Sumbal Iqbal, Fahad Mustafa, Hamayun Saeed, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmad Ali Butt, Mehwish Hayat, Noor among others.

20

Here are some pictures from Dubai which give a clear idea of what these stars have been doing in Dubai till now. What they are doing looks like a mixture of work and fun. Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt and Faysal Qureshi made sure that their wives are by their side during this whole event although their wives are not part of the showbiz industry.

Tum Kon Piya – Episode 4

The only thing missing from this over-dramatic yeh shadi nahi ho sakti episode was a heart attack ;) It was a pleasant surprise when no one landed in the hospital by the end of this episode! All the recent developments were predictable but even then Yasir Nawaz has made this very simple story visually pleasing and engaging enough by giving it a very smooth narrative and making sure that all the characters involved get the screen time they deserve. Although Tum Kon Piya’s story is an ancient as the sun and the stars but the well written dialogues (good Urdu), superb direction and a talented cast make this drama a decent watch.

This episode focused on Ramish more than Elma. Ramish finally told his parents that he wanted to get married to Elma but his parents who let him choose his own path all his life were not willing to let him choose his life partner. Ramish took pride in the fact that his parents’ training was behind his confident personality but somehow he failed to see what was coming ahead. Although this episode was full of clichés but the only thing that annoyed me was the way Sunbal showed her interest in Ramish. Yes! Ramish is a rich educated and well off guy but Sunbal is also a very attractive, educated girl who comes from an equally rich family therefore she has absolutely no reason to go after a man who is making it very clear that he is not interested in her. I just hope that Sunbal is not shown as a desperate girl who will do anything to get married to Ramish.

tkp

After Ramish’s father insults him Waqar Ali is shaken and he forbids his daughters from calling Ramish. It was good to see Elma telling Ramish that his father had done something to upset Waqar Ali. Ramish’s confrontation with his father showed yet again that he was just as stubborn as his father. Imran Abbas has done complete justice to his character so far. The on screen chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas makes me look forward to their scenes. Although their scenes together are very romantic but I like the way they are being shown. Most of the times they are seen imagining these meetings which in my opinion was a brilliant idea.

Zarbab’s submissive personality has put him in a tough spot. Unlike Ramish he does not have the guts to tell his mother what he wants and at the same time he does not have the courage to tell Javeria that he cannot go along with her plan. I am dreading a dusri shadi scenario at this point. The fact that Elma won’t get married to Ramish would be upsetting enough but if Zarbab goes ahead with both these nikkahs – one with Javeria and the other one with Elma – then it will be the worst turn in the story. Javeria’s mother wants to get back at Sharafat that is the only reason why she is forcing Zarbab to go behind his mother’s back and do something that will hurt her badly. Zarbab’s brother who is already jealous of him also makes sure that he says a few things which will further convince him to go ahead with the nikkah with Javeria. At the same time he tells his mother what might happen which gives her even more of a reason to rush to Elma’s house with the proposal.

tkp1

Overall, Tum Kon Piya is the kind of play which does not have anything grand to offer but at the same time in my opinion in some ways it is much better than many of the overrated plays. It reminds me of Dil-e-Muztar which did not have a very unusual story in the beginning but it was happening and directed well. Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan make a good looking and refreshing on screen couple. The supporting cast is also well-suited for their respective roles. Although the events are over-dramatic but the acting is always topnotch.

The preview of the next episode showed Ramish apologizing to Waqar Ali and Sharaft begum ‘interviewing’ Elma.

“I Feel That I Haven’t Done Anything Exceptional In Life.” – Rahat Kazmi

0

Rahat Kazmi is a living legend, he is an asset for our industry and a guiding light for all those newcomers who are lucky enough to have a platform where they can go and learn from this extremely talented gentleman. Sahira Kazmi is also very well known for her contributions to the entertainment industry. She is also multi talented. Everyone knows that Rahat Kazmi and Sahira Kazmi are married but it is hardly ever that they give interviews together. Rahat Kazmi especially does not like giving interviews but this time he made an exception which even his son could not believe.

This talented star couple talked about their marriage, dreams, fears and regrets in a very emotional way in Sanam Baloch’s morning show. Both of them were very open about sharing their thoughts on different matters. When Sanam Baloch asked Rahat Kazmi if he had any weaknesses. He said,

“There is a vacuum in my life which has not been filled because I feel that I failed in doing something exceptional, something that was never done before.”

2

Later in the interview he also said,

“I feel that people have given me more love than I deserve. I haven’t done anything outstanding to earn all the love which people give me. There are many other people in Pakistan who have done far more and they are the ones who deserve all this fame and love.”

1

He also revealed that his time alone with himself and with his books was very important to him. He also shared his thoughts on the class difference among people. He also talked about life and what makes him happy. He said,

“I am not scared of anything in life. My happiness lies in seeing other people happy. Death is a beautiful thing and it should come early. Dreams stay alive forever.”

Sanam Baloch was blown away by the responses she got from Rahat Kazmi and it took her a little while to be back to her normal self again.

It was a long awaited, being the comeback project of Aashir Azeem after nearly 22 years where his last project Dhuwaan a TV serial was aired in 1994 on the Pakistan Television.

Maalik registered respectable total over the Weekend with figured going close to 1.5cr approx. However this earning in is far less then other Urdu films Ho Mann Jahan and Bachaana which earned 4.50 crore and 2.2 crore on their opening weekends.

There can be multiple factors for that, Maalik has to compete with recently released Bollywood’s Kapoor & Sons and Ki aur Ka as well as Hollywood’s Batman vs Superman all of which are recording excellent occupencies and business.

The major revenue of Maalik came from the Federal Capital Islamabad followed by Karachi and Lahore. The response in Lahore was dull which reflected in the overall collections of the film.

Maalik has only one week to earn big and make an impact, as a major Bollywood film Fan is releasing on the 15th April starring Shahrukh Khan. Seeing the appeal of Shahrukh Khan starer flicks among the audience the cinema halls will definitely allot the premier time slots to Fan from upcoming Friday 15th April 2016 which will impact the business of Maalik further.

Bollywood films in general are extremely popular in Pakistan especially the ones featuring any of the Bollywood’s Khans. The last Shahrukh Khan starer Dilwale (December 2015) earned around 21 crore on Pakistani Box office and Fan is also expected to earn huge and thus denting the business of Maalik.

Maalik – Film Review

Year 1994 saw Dhuwan on air on our TV Screens. It was a thriller based on a team of law enforcement officials who would go to any length to catch criminals. Not only it became super hit and gained cult status over the years but also became claim to fame of its actor and writer Ashir Azeem. The guy who could have done dozens more serials went into hibernation after that and it’s only in 2015 that he could be seen in media again this time for a movie Maalik. As the movie has been directed, produced, written by and acted by Ashir Azeem naturally your expectations are high. With these expectations I entered the movie theatre screening Maalik.

The opening sequence shows Retd Maj Asad’s (Ashir Azeem) security agency chasing kidnappers and rescuing a kidnapped boy.It is done in style in high octane sequences. Once the boy is rescued Major Sb decides to hand him over to the police as ‘It is the right thing to do’. Why is it the right thing to do at this juncture we are never told along with many other unanswered questions in the movie.

maalik1

Major Sb confesses to murder of two civilians committed years ago and to elaborate on the details we divulge into the past through flashbacks. Major Sb was a serving army officer in SSG then and due to his commitments hardly gave time to his wife. On one such occasion where he is away rescuing kidnappers Chinese citizens, his pregnant wife meets with an accident and loses her family after giving birth to a girl Urooj. For Urooj Maj Asad takes retirement and forms a security company along with his Retired Maj Gen father (Sajid Hassan). They are tasked with securing the life of a corrupt to the core CM (Hassan Niazi) who has ruined the life of School Master Mohsin (Ehtashamuddin) who dared to contest election against him in a village in interior Sindh. Corrupt CM raped and killed the daughter of Mohsin and had Mohsin’s son framed for the murder with the help of his accomplice, local police inspector played by Rashid Farooqi. Adnan Shah Tipu plays the main henchman of CM who does all his dirty work including stuffing the ballots to get him elected.

CM eyes a poor Afgan girl, traps her to come to him and rapes her. In retaliation the girl’s brother tries to kill CM, Ashir Azeem intervenes and kills the guy and since he could not tolerate the rapist and corrupt CM he kills him also but is not charged for either of these murders. It is from there onwards that he becomes a messiah rescuing the oppressed in the society through his security agency.

maalik2

The film actually has so many characters that it was not possible to do justice with all and it shows on screen. Besides the flashbacks are too long and beyond a certain point you want these three individual tracks to be over which is a major letdown as each of these tracks has high emotional quotient.

There are unnecessary elements as well such as the love story between the raped Afghan girl and a security official which seems forced in the narrative. We are also left wondering about the son of Maj Asad when he never married after the death of his wife. Songs are good and help to take the narrative forward and thankfully no item songs. Cinematography is brilliant capturing Interior Sindh,Karachi and Balochistan beautifully. You are awe struck by the beauty of your land.

The movie is soaked in reality as it shows the true faces of corrupt politicians, policemen and their cronies. It shows the plight of poor in our society specially women and for it, it deserves brownie points as it evokes patriotic feelings. Equally commendable is the way humour has been injected in an otherwise serious movie. You would carry many dialogues home from the movie.

Overall it is a good effort and should be watched for its performances, breath taking scenery, action sequences and good dialogues. Overly stretched flashbacks and few unanswered questions remain a let down though.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 05!

Ohkay so, where to begin with! With the previous episode being so good, I was expecting this one to be better but unfortunately, I didn’t find it appealing enough. The story is hardly making any progress & even if it does, the predictability of it doesn’t make it look like the story moved forward as everything that happens seems like it is meant to be & that somehow nullifies the factor of watching something different or new.

Haadi popped the question & Mahnoor’s reaction clearly suggested that she is not comfortable with the idea of getting married so soon. It is so obvious that Mahnoor is trying to buy some time in order to explore the other option that she has. Mahnoor’s mind & heart is totally inclined towards Waqar, that is why she wants to see if she stands a chance in his life by delaying her own marriage, wah, what a logic I must say. On the other hand, Uzma finally broke the spell, she not only ate the mithai brought by Haadi, she wished him promotion ki mubarik too & honestly speaking, that scene made me roll my eyes so bad that now my eyes are hurting. Also, the conversation between Mahnoor & her colleagues forced me to think that why is every single girl in this drama so desperate, starting from Mahnoor to Uzma to Mahnoor’s colleagues!?!?! They all need to know that there’s something more to life than having a man in it!

Oh well, Waqar for now did prove that he knew his limits & he wasn’t ready to cross them for the sake of a married girl. Also, another thing that made my eyes roll so bad was Mahnoor’s question to Waqar about his narazgi, like seriously girl, you should be worried about your husband’s narazgi more than a shareef-uz-zamana parosi ki narazgi. Mahnoor very subtly instilled the idea in her mother’s mind that Haadi’s more like a stamp on her & she is bound to go to him underlining the fact that how badly she didn’t want that to happen & sadly, Mahnoor’s mother could comprehend what her daughter was saying but had no courage to probe into what was going through her mind as she is too scared to hear the answer which she already has an idea of.

Haadi is clearly disappointed & not only that, he is angry too but again, no matter how much he believes in saying that he loves his wife in order to make Uzma understand, it certainly doesn’t become ohkay for him to be spending time with Uzma alone especially when he knows that her father is not at home. Haadi could’ve waited for a couple of hours may be for Ikhtiyaar Sahab to return to spare himself & Uzma the awkwardness but he didn’t see anything odd in it, but I certainly did because Haadi isn’t unaware of the feelings Uzma has for him, so even if he makes a stern face & gives her some robotic responses, he still is feeding the love she has for him by giving her the pleasure of his company.

Uzma’s dialogue delivery did put me on a snooze but somehow when her whole conversation tied down together, I liked it, but found it contradicting to her own desires too. I liked how in difficult yet simple words, she told her father that all she wants in her husband is a sense of a life-long commitment & she most certainly won’t settle for a guy who left his wife so easily, so may be that’s why, seeing how committed Haadi is to Mahnoor, she got attracted to this quality of his but again, will Uzma have no issues when Mahnoor & Haadi will part ways? Obviously, the scene in the preview suggested that Uzma will now start seeing Haadi as a victim, so she will have grounds to still be in love with him as she will know that he wasn’t the one who walked out of this relationship, but still, I find it contradicting that at one side Uzma longs for an eternal commitment from her partner but wouldn’t mind seeing Haadi coming out of one commitment to form another with her? Even though Uzma’s love for Haadi is one-sided but loving someone definitely means desiring to be with the one you love too & it would’ve been ohkay if her love was unspoken about but she let that secret out already, so in other words she does somehow desire Haadi to be with her in stead of being with Mahnoor!

Well, Mehtab & his daughter Gaitiara got a lot of coverage in this episode but they didn’t give me much to talk about. Like I said, it was too predictable that Waqar will be appointed as Gaitiara’s Urdu teacher & the way Mehtab described, he will be spending a lot more time with her too, so it is imperative that they both will fall for each other, especially with Waqar finding the truth about Mahnoor, he will feel free to fall for someone else once again. Gaitiara has come to contest in the elections but she strives to become an honest politician but I am sure soon enough she’ll find out that honesty & politics don’t really gel well together!

Anyways, overall this episode was average but the preview suggested that things will get a bit complicated & may be the story will move forward. I was kind of surprised (read shocked) to see Haadi sharing his marital problems with Uzma; the girl who loves him, haha, oh dear, it’s a big no no to be sharing your problems with the one who already wants to be with you. Yes, Uzma hasn’t bluntly said that she wants to spend her life with Haadi but it still doesn’t really put a lid on the fact that he has confessed her feelings to him. Looks like Mahnoor will do everything to get Waqar’s attention but her mother will try to stop her. I think the truth is out there that Zara Yaad Kar’s journey won’t be an exciting one because where we will get 1 good episode, we’ll have to accept the next ‘filler’ episode that will come our way too. I am sure they picked the most interesting bits to make the preview look enticing but overall, this journey is going to be quite slow, predictable & to some extent boring as well. The only strong point of this otherwise mediocre script are the dialogues but sadly, none of the dialogues in this episode struck a chord & seeing the half-opened eyes of both love-stricken Uzma & Mahnoor made me yawn so bad. I think I should get used to yawning & eye-rolling because they’ll be my go-to expressions while watching most of the episodes of Zara Yaad Kar. Well please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Taher Shah Is Not Afraid Of Criticism

0

Ever since his latest single “Angel” was released Taher Shah has been getting attention from all the leading channels in Pakistan. Everyone wants to talk to him about his songs and most importantly about the sort of reactions he gets from majority of the public. Waseem Badami invited Taher Shah to his show and among other things he talked to him about Twinkle Khanna’s tweet. This is the tweet he was talking about:

1

Taher Shah had a very cool-minded attitude in the entire interview. He made sure he did not give any blunt statements and was very diplomatic. He said that he was not aware of this tweet. He also said that people had the right to express their opinion. Waseem Badami asked him how he felt about being referred to as a “purple bomb”. His reply was that it was because of the outfit he was wearing, nothing more and nothing less!!

Taher Shah was also invited by Samaa on their show. While interviewing him the hosts asked him why he had never commented about Aamir Liaquat’s insulting attitude towards him in his Ramzan show. He once again gave a very tolerant reply. He said,

“Many people have said to me that I haven’t talked about what happened and why I was silent about it. Well, I think silence itself is a befitting reply. The entire purpose behind making this song “Angel” was to inspire people to value fellow human beings. It gives the message of love and respect.”

He also said that he did not let criticism stop him from doing what he wanted to do. He said,

“Criticism should be taken positively and one should learn from it.”

Taher Shah also said that the biggest surprise in his video was the little kid in it. He wanted to show his little baby boy to the world through the video. He refused to comment on who the lady in the video was.

Nadia Khan’s Questions Leave Sahir Lodhi Speechless!!

0

Nadia Khan is known for her blunt questions. Now that she is hosting her own show and is in full control of the kind of questions she asks her guests, we have very often seen her asking questions which are rather inappropriate and very blunt . Different guests react to these questions in different ways. Some like Sohai Ali Abro and Imran Abbas answer them with great confidence but some others are surprised that they are being asked personal and strange questions.

4

Sahir Lodhi has a great deal of exposure in media and he hosts his own Morning Show too so there is no denying the fact that this man has loads of confidence. Even this confident man was speechless and shocked when Nadia Khan asked him questions like if he has ever got waxing done. When he was stunned to hear this question and also embarrassed she said that it was something very normal and also asked the secret behind his arms which were very smooth. Nadia Khan also said to Sahir Lodhi that he needed to gain some weight because he did not look good.

sahir1

Nadia Khan did not stop there, she also questioned him whether he got Botox or fillers done and when he replied in negative she said that his sister loved getting them done so why not him!!!! Nadia Khan confused Sahir Lodhi so much with her questions that he could not believe he was expected to answer such queries.

Mera Yaar Miladay – Episodes 7-10

Well, well, well! Quite a few developments in the past few episodes that seem to have moved the story forward except they have not really done so – save the last scene of the 10th episode.
Mushq – her track in these past few episodes seems like a Ludo game. Gets a six and hops out happily from behind her locked bedroom door, plays a bit, dodges a bit and then Master Sb catches her out and she is sent promptly back home – locked up in her bedroom again! I could totally understand Mushq’s frustration with Fahd when he kept saying ‘bharosa karo, blah blah’ but was not actually doing anything for ‘them’. Master Sb happens to come upon them during one of these unproductive meetings and is furious. Fahd is beaten up by the mohalla walay (extremely ‘vaila’ mohalla I have to say) and ends up spending a night in jail.

Mehru Ji – she has had me confused from the first couple of episodes. She flits around Dabbu but there seems to be more to the story. We did begin to realize that she has her sights set on Fahd now but I do not understand her hesitation to help Aslam Bhai then against Dabbu or her conversations with her mother regarding Dabbu. Her ‘mehman nawazi’ at Dabbu’s house when she took care of Fahd made me laugh and cringe at the same time. I half expected her to not deliver Fahd’s letter to Mushq but she surprised me when she did – and then confused me when she did not give Fahd Mushq’s letter. Why give Mushq the letter in the first place? Her whole game is confusing me for if it is Fahd she wants how does she plan to do that with Dabbu in the picture? The whole Aslam-Dabbu showdown was not meant to end in murder then for Aslam had the chance to shoot Dabbu again but did not. She does ‘express’ (read: shriek) her feelings to Fahd which ends with him pushing her away and Dabbu walking in. That’s the end of Fahd it would appear.

PIC 1

Nayaaz and Master Sb – These episodes introduced a new character Nayaaz (Kunwar Nafees) who is an old student of Master Sb’s and has returned to the mohalla now. Master Sb thinks he is the answer to his Mushq problem and Nayaaz is more than willing to marry Mushq. Kudos to Master Sb for finding a ‘hum – constipated expression-ed son in law’.

Zeba – bleat, bleat, bleat. And – bleat, bleat, bleat.

Dabbu Bhai – So Aslam bhai has been successful in turning the mohalla against Dabbu bhai and crowned himself the ‘reigning’ bhai of the mohalla now. Dabbu is totally smitten with Mehru ji and does not suspect at all that she does not reciprocate his feelings.

The mohalla – such a tight knit mohalla – I have to hand it to them. They were obsessed with Master Sb at first, now rallying against Dabbu bhai, ransacking his shop, yelling ‘naaras’ outside his house like some sort of election rally! They all seem to be in each other’s faces and everyone knows each other. Mehru walks around dolled up as if it were no issue. Even the scene when Mushq and Zeba come upon Fahd and Nayaaz ‘round the corner’ felt quite silly. I did wonder where the rest of the mohalla was then.

Dado and Striker – they seem to be the most normal and lovable characters of this drama but nobody seems to take them seriously!

Master Sb for all his spending his life being a school teacher seems to have messed up those ‘match the pictures questions’ in his personal life. Pairing Mushq with Qureshi, then Zeba with Fahd when he could have paired Mushq with Fahd and ended the whole issue, then Mushq with Nayaaz. What a mess!

PIC 2

PIC 3

When Fahd and Mushq are caught out, I thought okay maybe there will be some development in the Mushq-Fahd reunion scene. But nothing happened – in fact a new character Nayaaz was introduced. I do not understand why Nayaaz is so willing to marry Mushq despite knowing everything. There are twists in the story I agree- but they just seem to make the story go round and round in circles. It is like a journey of weight loss for lack of anything else to compare it with – you lose a kilo, then gain two kilos, lose half and gain two, so the story seems to move a step forward but then backwards again but that is beginning to annoy me now because I am waiting for a huge 10 kilo jump! I do like the drama and am entertained so far but I am hoping the preview next week is not misleading and things do start happening at a faster pace.

One of the readers commented on an earlier review about the lighting and I found myself noticing it more in these past few episodes. It is really quite annoying I agree, especially as you find yourself squinting to make out the faces of the actors.

PIC 4

I like Faysal Qureshi as an actor and I have always found him to give flawless performances but I do not know why I felt he was trying a bit too hard in the comical scenes with Striker and Mehru. I may not be Sajal Ali’s biggest fan but I have nothing to complain about her acting and feel she has done an excellent job. Dado and Striker remain my favourite characters for now and Ayesha Khan Sr and the young boy who is Striker have made their characters stand out.

Oh so I just watched the preview for next week and it appears Mushq finally does flee home. But Dabbu in his blind love for Mehru has apparently turned against Fahd. Does he spare Fahd and is Fahd able to make it to Mushq in time and elope with her? I am actually looking forward to next week’s episode and hope I am not disappointed. How many of you have been following these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Mann Mayal – Episode 12

This episode was like an overdose of Mikael’s character – that is the best way to sum it up! There are some negative characters which you love to hate because they are not just negative but they keep you guessing and give you something to look forward. The way a character is written and the manner in which it is portrayed on screen are the two factors which play an important role in making that character memorable. But if a negative character is predictable, does not have an ‘interesting’ personality and the actor playing the role doesn’t manage to bring out the best in his character than these roles are just plain annoying! Mikael unfortunately is one such character in this drama. He is incapable of doing anything right, he is paranoid and the way this character has been translated on screen isn’t impressive either. Almost all the conversations and scenes that were shown in the first 10 minutes of this episode were dedicated to Mikael convincing Mannu to get the jewelry! In between we saw a minute or so of Salahuddin when he came back to Ifty’s house only to find out that uncle had died. It would have been far better if this episode focused on Ifty’s father’s death instead of Mikael’s track.

Mikael’s first meeting with Mannu and her family seemed cute because the viewers had no idea that he wasn’t being funny but this was who he was – a dimwit who doesn’t think much before he says something. In this episode Mikael was finally kicked out of the house by his father. His overconfidence got the best of him and now he is ‘jealous’ of his wife because she gets all the love and attention from his parents. Mikael being the only child is obviously not used to ‘sharing’ mommy and daddy with anyone else therefore he thinks that everyone is trying to bring him down. Like a spoiled child he blames everything on his parents and Mannu and is not willing to take responsibility for his actions. He expected his friend to welcome him with open arms and his attitude went to show that there was a lot that he needed to learn! Mikael is intelligent enough to fool his wife into doing things for him, otherwise he is not that bright! I just hope when we see a change in his personality it is not sudden and unexplained.

mm

The latest twist in Salahuddin’s track was predictable. It would have been more apt if the viewers were shown a few flashback scenes in which Salahuddin remembered uncle and didn’t find out about the property he left for him just yet. Salahuddin’s reaction when he saw the papers was a mix of shock and jubilation. Although the change in Jameel’s personality is unexplained but it was good to see this side of him. The way he talked about uncle’s ‘akhri  wakt’ made it sound like Salahuddin had been away for weeks or months. The timeline in this play is always confusing!

Talat Hussein is going to be sorely missed. He was brilliant in every single scene and made his character memorable. Hamza Ali Abbasi’s shocking expressions were spot on but the conversation later on about how much the plot would be worth gave the impression that he was very excited too about this new development. Salahuddin has the chance to start over and I am waiting to see how that part of the story is covered. Saleem Miaraj proved once again that he is a brilliant performer. He made us hate Jameel in the past few episodes and now he is very convincing as someone who has truly changed. His dialogue delivery and acting both are impressive.

Overall, this episode was strictly okay. The preview of the next episode showed that the focus will once again shift to Mannu’s family. The story is gradually moving forward but unlike many other plays written by Samira Fazal, this one does not have a lot of surprises in store. The dhamakedar twists that keep you at the edge of your seat are totally missing from Mann Mayal. There is tons of talking in this play but very little action!

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 20!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Tere Mere Beech was going good for me & there came the scene consisting the crying face of the ultimate crier Zahida right by the end of the episode & ruined it for me because it was not only unnecessary but it was slow & stretched too. I just don’t understand why every single episode remains incomplete without Zahida & Co’s. crocodile tears???

Anyhow, it was good to see Shehla taking charge of Hareem’s life & trying her level best in making her financially stable & independent. Shehla contacted her family friend Hammad & informed him about Hareem. Hammad & his daughter Tania welcomed Hareem wholeheartedly & not only that, they were quite courteous towards her too because they wanted to help her knowing that she isn’t educated enough. The way Tania spoke to Hareem & told her to explore what she is good at was nice to see as well.

So, Tania is going out with Fahad & seems like this time around Fahad got really lucky because Tania is far more well-settled than Hareem was. Also the car Fahad owned went to show that he must’ve gotten it as a gift from Tania or he might be using someone else’s car in order to impress her. I really thought when Fahad will come across Hareem, he will bat an eyelid but he seemed least bothered about her because looks like he never truly loved & respected her. For Fahad, Hareem was just like an acquaintance & his reaction proved it as well. Also, he is such a heartless person because how could he extend a cold shoulder to a girl who is still married to him?

I actually thought that Hareem will go into a deep depression when she will see Fahad with Tania but she took me by surprise when she not only confronted him but threatened him too. Also, what I liked the most was that she didn’t keep anything from Shehla & informed her about everything that happened that day. I think this is the first step that Hareem has taken towards improving her condition where she has stopped keeping things in her heart & she has stopped harming herself emotionally. Shehla has helped her a great deal in that aspect that is why Hareem has started confiding in her.

The preview of the next episode suggested that Hareem will spend time with Fahad whereas in my opinion, it would be a dream sequence because the way Fahad treated Hareem definitely shows that he is done with her for good, so celebrating her birthday is out of question. I really think the last scene of this episode was unnecessary because I most certainly don’t understand Zahida’s flip & switch mode where one day she is trying act as a cute cupid who is rooting for Asad & Sadia’s marriage & on the other, she is crying out loud as if she is going to choke. I really think this terrible trio has gotten way more coverage than they deserve & once again, the topic of conversation between Nadia & Ali were Hareem & Fahad, like seriously, these guys are in dire need of a life. Also, considering this was the 20th episode, I truly feel this should’ve been the last episode & without wasting so many episodes, they should’ve introduced Shehla’s character probably in the 14th-15th episode so that they could’ve wrapped it up by now. Anyways, I hope this drama ends next week as they’ve shown us all & the last thing left to be shown is Fahad getting jailed for all the crimes he has committed. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech & let us know if you also feel that this drama should end now!

Udaari – Episode 1

Writer: Farhat Ishtiaq
Director: Ehteshamuddin
Produced by: MD Productions & Kashaf Foundation
Channel & Timings: HUM TV – Every Sunday – 8pm

Udaari is the brainchild of the same writer and production houses who were behind drama serial “Rehaii”. It is inspired from true stories; Kashaf foundation collected real life stories from the community they work with on regular basis and asked the writer Farhat Ishtiaq to write a script based on these stories. The owner of Kashaf Foundation said in an interview that when Rehaii went on air people said it was too real therefore very upsetting and not entertaining enough. Keeping that feedback in mind this time around they have tried to highlight some serious issues without compromising on the entertainment value of the serial. According to the producers Udaari is going to be a mix of education and entertainment.

This first episode of Udaari introduced all the primary characters in the story and I must say that there are a lot of characters in the play. Rehaii had many characters too and quite a few tracks but the writer and the director did complete justice to them therefore I expect nothing less than just that from this drama as well. Sheedan (Bushra Ansari), her husband (Rehan Sheikh), her son, her brother and her daughter Meeran (Urwa Hocane) live in the village. It is a Mirasi family who go to different functions to sing in order to earn a living. Everyone else in the family has absolutely no problem with this profession except Meeran. Sheedan in fact is proud of the fact that she inherited this profession from her ancestors. Meeran on the other hand feels differently mainly because the boy she is in love with does not approve of the profession. Although she tries her best to convince her mother that she does not want to sing but Sheedan is not someone who will let her school going daughter dictate to her. Meeran also has a naturally beautiful voice, dubbed by Hadiqa Kiyani. Urwa Hocane’s acting was flawless in this episode but her make-up unfortunately wasn’t. Her ‘white’ face was very distracting and she does not pass for a school going girl. Bushra Ansari and Rehan Sheikh shared good on screen chemistry. I am looking forward to finding out more about their characters.

Sajida (Sammiya Mumtaz) is Sheedan’s neighbour, she is a widow. She works at someone’s house to earn a living. She has a little daughter Zebu (Maryam Fatima) who she has to leave with Sheedan and when she is not around with other people because she has no other choice. Imtiaz (Ahsan Khan) is Sajida’s dead husband’s best friend. He has just returned from Dubai and was shown showering Zebu and Sajida with gifts and affection. Imtiaz is highly respected among people in the neighborhood and although he seems like a nice person but there is definitely more to his character than what was shown in this first episode. I must say that for the first time I felt like Samiya Mumtaz wasn’t appropriate for this role because she looks much older than Ahsan Khan. Otherwise I am a huge fan of her acting because her acting is always effortless. Ahsan Khan was very convincing as Imtiaz.

Arsh (Farhan Saeed), Milli, Haris and Farwa’s lives are very different from the lives of all these people living in the villages. They live in the city and Arsh, Milli and  Haris in particular come from very affluent families. All of them have a music band and are aspiring musicians. They hope to get a chance on television. Farwa is the lyricist and the vocalist, a very important part of the band but it looked like her mother’s opposition will prove to be a hindrance in the way of her dreams. Arsh and Farwa don’t get along well but Arsh’s meeting with Haris and Milli’s mother (Laila Zuberi) went to show that he is a good person at heart. Milli is also a sensitive person whose mother works with people who are underprivileged. Farhan Saeed acted superbly in all the scenes. It was good to see some new faces on screen and two completely different worlds in a drama which only had one thing in common – passion for music!

This first episode was decent enough. The story has something new and different to offer.  For some odd reason Sajida’s track caught my attention more than that of Sheedan and her family. It would have been so much better if the child artist did not wear so much make-up and Urwa Hocane shouldn’t have white washed her face either. All the actors deserve due credit for changing their accents completely to meet the demands of their characters. Bushra Ansari made her presence felt in tonight’s episode more than any other actor. Udaari promises much more than just mindless entertainment and I am really looking forward to what it has to offer in the upcoming episodes.

Aabro – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, finally the tables have turned. I enjoyed watching this episode of Aabro the most because they gave us what we all were waiting for. Even though there isn’t much difference in the way Aabro & Ali’s family gets treated by Zubaida & Co. but it was refreshing to see both Ali & Aabro making through all the tough circumstances ‘together’ like a team. Even though, this was a drama that I started watching without expecting much & then it became a guilty pleasure but now it is a drama that I look forward to because it has shown us something that we hardly get to see that how a couple has stood by each other’s side through thick & thin & honestly speaking, we need more dramas like these where they show us the solutions rather than the problems.

Aabro & Ali clearly understood that nothing in their life would change & may be also because they started blaming themselves even more for what they were going through, therefore they settled for what life was offering them, but Ali & Aabro knew that the only asset they had & they will cherish for the rest of their lives was their daughter Afsheen that is why they made her a center of their attention & universe & that mind-set definitely paid off. I found it really good that even though Aabro was never keen on education, when she became a mother, she started paying heed to everything that her mother used to tell her, that is why she now understood how important it was for her to educate Afsheen & fortunately Ali agreed too.

I loved loved loved seeing the contrast between the two families where they showed that Abid’s family was well-settled, that is why his wife found a lot of other activities to spend her time & money at as she didn’t have much to worry about but just because Ali & Aabro never had enough money & time to waste on different activities, they dedicated their days & nights to the upbringing of their daughter Afsheen. Also, another thing that was good to see was a difference in Aabro’s behavior & attitude. She grew more compassionate towards her mother & she now could relate to what Sakina must’ve gone through in order to raise her & Hamid. I think they gave a positive message by showing Aabro’s transition because it wasn’t only her circumstances that changed her, but it was her own regret & her self-realization that helped her in becoming a completely different person.

So, 20 years went by & Aabro was still working as a maid in Ali’s home. Fauzia became a socialite & this time around, Zubaida was still nagging but the subject of her nagging was Fauzia’s children Ahmed & Aima. Fauzia’s transition was kind of shocking because she comes from a very simple family with her mother being a housewife too, so how did she turn herself into this outgoing person because when she was young, she never had any such interests so it kind of seemed out of the place that Fauzia, who always wanted a domestic life was now more focused on her personal life which had nothing to do with the responsibilities of her home & family? Also, Abid always guided Fauzia through, so what made him ignore everything that Fauzia was doing that drove her to such an extent where now everything else was her priority except her own family especially her kids? I found it hard to believe that Abid let it slide what Fauzia was doing all these years. Also, I must add, when Fauzia was shown in her 20’s she looked like someone in her 40’s & now when she should’ve been looking like someone in her 40’s she looked like she was still stuck in her 20’s. They should’ve aged Fauzia’s character too, yes styling & everything was definitely needed for her character but to show her frozen in time didn’t really seem realistic enough.

It was good to see some new faces in the drama too. Afsheen is an ideal daughter who knows what her parents go through in order to educate her, that is why she takes her education very seriously & not only that, she is a polar opposite of what Aabro was when she was her age. I loved seeing how well Ali & Aabro raised Afsheen where she has become an answer to all those questions people used to raise on her parents. Ahmed happens to be this typical spoiled brat who doesn’t care much about his studies but he isn’t a negative character though, he is still better than his sister but the way he acts can’t be helped because Fauzia never really said no to any of his demands that is why he is used to having things his way. However, I must add I liked the relation both Ahmed & Afsheen shared. It’s like they are cousins & that is why they are candid with each other & there is no awkwardness between them considering how Ali & Aabro were alienated from the rest of the family. Aima is another spoiled brat & she happens to be a negative character in a sense that she is quite ill-mannered & doesn’t really care about what her elders say or expect from her.

Zubaida can’t stop complaining because she is disappointed with how Fauzia has raised her children. Even though she still hasn’t acknowledged how well Aabro has raised Afsheen but deep down she can’t help comparing Ahmed & Aima to Afsheen as she really is a perfect & ideal child in every aspect. The preview of the next episode seemed interesting too & I am really glad that they have moved the story forward where the focus is now on Afsheen. However, on a side note I found it amusing that by showing Fauzia this way, they are implying that those daughters in law who get a free hand by their mothers in law become way too independent & spoiled whereas those who are scrutinized by their mothers in law every step of the way become way more grounded & decent like Aabro, haha. Overall, it was a good episode with some heart-warming scenes that Ali & Aabro’s family shared with each other. I can’t emphasize enough how happy I am to see a couple that has made it through such difficult times in their lives all by staying by each other’s side through thick & thin, otherwise what both of them went through was enough to break them, rip them apart & make them quit. Anyways, I can’t wait to see the next episode & please share your thoughts about this episode too.
