She wrote, “I’m sorry I am posting after such a long while about this.. but lots of thank yous are in order. Thank you Hum Style awards, thank you to all those who have contributed to my style.. my stylists, my make up artists, hairstylists, designers.. if it was up to me I’d live in my white shalwar kameez!”

The fourth edition of Hum Style Awards was held at Expo Centre which was hosted by actors Aamina Sheikh and Usman Mukhtar. It was a star-studded night with fun-filled performances by Sara Loren, Ahsan Khan, Farhan Saeed, Urwa Hocane and the rap group Young Stunners as well. The one and only King of Pop Micheal Jackson’s nephew is in Pakistan these days. Jaafar Jackson is visiting different cities and meeting university students as well.
He first came to Islamabad and posted a photo that was captured at Pakistan Monument in the nation’s capital Islamabad.
He shared, “First day in Pakistan been looking forward to this trip and experiencing the different cities. Also looking forward to meeting the students at a few of the universities I’ll be visiting.”
The young singer shared another memorable picture in front of the iconic Faisal Mosque. He wrote, “Really enjoyed my time in Islamabad and now enjoying Lahore.”

After the producer of the original Maula Jatt (1979), Sarwar Bhatti claimed violation of copyrights in 2017, Bilal Lashari’s revamped version “The Legend Of Maula Jatt” had its release halted after its trailer had received appreciation from the audience. The audience were highly anticipating the release of the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer but had to hold back the excitement since the legal matter disallowed the film’s release.
However, now, since Sarwar Bhatti has withdrawn all legal cases against the film, it seems, The Legend of Maula Jatt will be releasing sooner than ever. Although the producer of the film Ammara Hikmat and director Bilal Lashari are yet to make an official announcement regarding the release, it is being expected that The Legend Of Maula Jatt will hit cinemas on Eid ul Fitr 2020, the same occasion it was slated for release last year.
Based on the fictional character of Maula Jatt from the 1979 film, The Legend of Maula Jatt features Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Humaima Malick and Gohar Rasheed in pivotal roles. Having taken quite some time to be completed and with a trailer to prove the point, The Legend Of Maula Jatt has been claimed as Pakistan’s most expensive production to date.
Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera took the story forward & gave a lot of answers to the viewers by showing the flashbacks & revealing how Amaan & Ana shared some of their childhood memories together. This episode in general was definitely nice to see, more so because a lot was revealed, however, the acting in some of the scenes was unconvincing & it almost looked like the actors were having a hard time establishing the chemistry needed to make their conversations appear effortless & natural!
Pieces of Puzzle From The Past
Ana has been finding Daryabagh quite familiar but she is unable to put a finger to it. I will definitely give it to Ana that after suffering from anxiety & depression, some of her memory must’ve been hazy but considering that she has spent such a memorable time with her mother in that place, for her not to even remember any of it does make it a little unconvincing. Maybe if they had shown that Ana was around 3 – 4 years of age, it would’ve still made sense because the girl that was shown in this episode was around 7-8 years old & mostly kids do remember the happenings especially visits to certain places vaguely at least. However, like I said, I will give it to her considering that she has spent years being disturbed so for her to hold onto that memory seems highly unlikely. Amaan’s character & his overall growth has become stagnant, especially the motive of bringing Ana to Daryabagh. It seems he wants Meer Farooq to come in order to get in touch with Ana, but it looks like it will take a while because Meer Farooq seems too relaxed & not too keen on getting in touch with his daughter Ana during his trip to France.
So, the reason why Amaan knew Ana had a scar on her chin was because of the childhood incident of falling from the swing. Amaan & Ana’s mothers ended up being friends. It was also suggested that Meer Farooq was clearly interested in Humera but she friend-zoned him. I still feel this would not be the reason why Meer Farooq ended up killing her, there’s obviously more to it. It looks like when Nilo had feared that her life was in danger, she must’ve gone to Humera & she being a witness to Nilo’s death ended up getting killed by Meer Farooq too. They will definitely take some time in taking the story to that point, however it was interesting to note that they did establish the connection between Humera & Meer Farooq way before, because after he shot her, the way he looked at her clearly indicated that he had certain feelings of resentment towards her. However, I will say that it is definitely interesting how in certain scenarios, they have show a more humane side of Meer Farooq due to the love he has for Ana, it is like she brings out the best in him & he likes being a good human being in front of her. Yes, he is lying & faking his niceness but as a father, the love he has for her is unconditional & pure. Having said that, I am definitely looking forward to his undoing because he most certainly has to pay for what he has done in his past.
Humera & Nilo became good friends & this episode only covered the beginning of their friendship. Their conversations were simple to the point of being a little off, also it looked like they both were repeating after each other, which made their chemistry as strangers as well as friends a little unconvincing & odd. In scenarios like these, it shows how important it is for the director to get the desired acting from the actors because some actors heavily rely on the directors & their briefing. It was too obvious that both Zarnish Khan as well as Mira Sethi were struggling to do their bit. Anyways, I was way too happy to be getting the answers that I didn’t let their poor acting & strange vibe distract me but it was still way too obvious. I liked seeing how Nargis Bua was being herself & was super sweet to both Ana & Amaan. It now makes a lot more sense why Amaan has a soft-corner for Nargis Bua because she happens to be the only person alive who was nice to him back in those days & who he has some fond memories of. The scenes of kids were nicely done & they seemed natural, considering the viewers automatically don’t expect the child artist to act naturally or effortlessly but still, both the kids did their part well!
Sahira is obviously following the instructions of Amaan & she is now confusing Meer Farooq, kind of riling him up so that he does something wrong which Amaan will catch onto. Ana is obviously not too keen about not having her mobile phone which is strange but Meer Farooq not being eager to get in touch with his daughter doesn’t make much sense, especially when he is out of the country & hasn’t spoken to her once? Yes, I didn’t find the need of him to be in touch with her 24/7 when he & Ana were in Islamabad & she had just started her marital life with the love of her life, but yes, now that he is far away, he definitely would want to get in touch with his only family, wouldn’t he?
Weak Execution
The episode overall was definitely nice to see. Amaan collecting the pieces of his childhood & Ana finding some of the traces as well, it was quite interesting. Just when I was appreciating the little detail of the hotel staff speaking in French & appreciating the fact that the director put in that effort to convince the viewers that Meer Farooq was in France, I was taken aback by the high-res quality of pictures from Ana’s childhood. It’s little details like these that set the tone for the drama & show that the drama-makers only approached it commercially. I was wondering how much of an impact it would’ve made if they had photoshopped those pictures & given them a little effect of the 90’s to suggest that they were from Ana’s childhood & not clicked yesterday with the child artist. Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly were right in their element in this episode yet again. Naima Khan played her part well. Mira Sethi & Zarnish Khan definitely struggled, although the stylists had put in an extra effort in their clothing to make it look like they were showing a flashback from the 90’s but the actresses on their own faltered, which also made the entire scenario lose the charm & the grip it should’ve had on the viewers, considering they were showing such important pieces of the puzzle related to Ana & Amaan’s childhood. The story seems simple and one-dimensional, however the drama has come to such a stage now where a drastic twist awaits the viewers and they are still guessing about who could be responsible for whatever happened with Nageen. It is interesting that a drama which started off as a simple love story has now turned into something different and has an element of suspense to it. The love story of Sultan and Nageen is definitely one of the best aspects of this drama and makes the viewers feel warm and fuzzy at the kind of clean romance that has been shown between the lead pair. The execution, the story and the characters of Deewangi are sorted and have a clarity. Deewangi definitely happens to be a light-hearted entertainment with its fair share of twists and turns that make a simple story a little more intense and gripping.

Fatima Bhutto who is a popular writer has launched her new book titled New Kings of the World. The book is about a lively, inside look at how Bollywood, Turkish soap operas, and K-Pop are challenging America’s cultural dominance around the world.
She talked about her new book with fans at Liberty Books Clifton. She shared what her book is going to be about and more details.
Bhutto said to the audience, “My book talks about power, neoliberalism, globalization and other things I’ve written about before. But I was tired of always feeling like our stories were not the stories.”
She added further, “Where we’re standing, should be our center, we won’t say we’re the South of this or East of that. So I think the West’s moment is coming to a close.”
Fatima Bhutto has included Bollywood, Turkish soap operas and K-Pop but she would not have included India if she has written it today. “I started working on the proposal for this book in 2016. If I would’ve started today I wouldn’t have included India because the Bollywood industry is taking a more propagandist approach.”
She included Turkey because their dramas are distributed worldwide. She said, “The Brave and Beautiful at its peak was watched by an audience of 26 million. Mera Sultan at its peak was watched by 200 million. Unofficially, they told me that number is now 500 million.”
Fatima Bhutto talked about adding K-Pop culture and said, “They had to rebuild their economy but they couldn’t do that so easily because they had no natural resources, or agricultural land – they couldn’t have rebuilt it on ginseng alone. They are also not allowed to pursue military technology because of their defense pact with North America. Not to mention, their reliance on massive corporations like Samsung and Hyundai is what got them into trouble in the first place. But the president of that time, Kim de Jong, was inspired by Hollywood’s pop culture and Korea put all its efforts behind their cultural ministries. Music brings Korea five billion dollars a year, video games bring it 1000 times more than that.”
She also questioned why can’t we make films on our history and culture. She gave the example of Hrithik Roshan who featured in Bollywood movie Mohenjo Daro.
“I don’t understand why Hrithik Roshan can be in a film featuring Mohenjo Daro but we can’t make a film on our heritage! In Raazi, Alia Bhatt can walk in a place representative of Pakistan, with posters titled ‘Crush India’, but I’ve never seen such posters in Pakistan. Where is that narrative coming from and why can’t we challenge it by building a different image?”

Unfortunately, I am going to go out on a limb, I feel that whenever there has been an attempt of such a kind, the Pakistan army has always stepped in and spoilt those possibilities of proper understanding. Because somewhere it does not suit their agenda to see friendships prevail. This is because one of the biggest thorns is Kashmir, and the Pakistan army is getting a tremendous amount of donations from the world in the name of Kashmir. The day that subject is resolved those donations will stop coming, and therefore there is going to be a big vacuum in the kitty which they have become used to.”
If you look at the timelines, every time there has been a close possibility of friendship, you suddenly have a Kargil, or a Pulwama, Siachin, and so on. These things have always happened when people have come close to finding friendship on an official level. This has always happened at the last minute, but this is not a coincidence, there is always a reason. So it is all economics.”

In a rather sad turn of events, veteran Pakistani comedian, Umer Sharif’s daughter, Hira Umer, passed away in Lahore on Monday night.
According to reports, the cause of Hira’s death turns out to be a heart attack, as confirmed byFarooq Rubi, a close family friend. Also, Hira had been suffering with kidney issues for a while and had been admitted to a private hospital in Lahore.
Hira Umer was reportedly very close to her father, Umer Sharif, who is now rushing back home to Lahore from his three month tour of the United States.
Although Hira remained out of the limelight, she was the administrator of Umer Sharif’s ‘Maa’ hospital in Karachi.

Ayeza Khan also shared that she had an offer by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali but since she wanted to debut with a Pakistani film things were put on hold. Also, before she could take a decision, things between India and Pakistan got tensed and the offer could not materialize, shared Ayeza.
Recently, Antonio Guterres, United Nations (UN) Secretary General, arrived in Pakistan on a four day visit. The UN Chief held meetings with UN Refugee Agency officials on Monday alongside Mahira Khan, nited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan.
Following the meeting, Antonio Guterres took to his Twitter to thank Mahira Khan for her support.
“As we mark 40 years of Pakistan’s solidarity with Afghan refugees, it was a pleasure to meet @Refugees Goodwill Ambassador @TheMahiraKhan. I thank her and all Pakistanis for their extraordinary support,” tweeted Antonio Guterres.

Mahira Khan was named as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan in November 2018.
