Recently Geo had entered into a non-exclusive agreement with veteran writer, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar similar to the ones he has with other TV channels, for dramas and a film script. However, following Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s misogynist comments that he made in a live show, against fellow panelist Marvi Sirmad, Geo Network and 7th Sky Entertainment suspended its contract with the writer.

PEMRA has finally taken notice of the show “Ayesha Ehtesham Ke Sath” where Khalil-ur-Rehman passed derogatory remarks on fellow panelist, Marvi Sirmed.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a notice to New News and also condemned the conversation which took place between the guests.
The notice has been issued for using vulgar language on the live show. The participants were indulged in the debate about Aurat March and the scriptwriter Khalil-ur-Rehman lost his cool.
PEMRA has served a show-cause notice to NEO News. The host will be answerable to court within seven days or else PEMRA will take strict action against the show.

In an unfortunate turn of events, veteran comedian Amanullah passed away in Lahore last night. According to Amanullah’s family, the comedian had been admitted in the hospital on 3rd March once again.
Amanullah had been suffering from lung and kidney diseases for quite some time now. The comedian had earlier been admitted to a hospital but was released later.
Having been in and out of hospital for multiple medical issues, Amanullah’s family had earlier requested prayers and the comedian had been on the ventilator.
The 70 year old actor was born in Gujranwala in 1950. Amanullah was one of the best stage comedians in Pakistan. His first stage performance was “One Man Comedy Show” at a local theatre in Lahore in which he performed mimicry of famous celebrities. Amanullah’s most popular stage plays are Basheera in Trouble” and “Landa Bazaar”. The veteran comedian, over a career spanning 40 years worked in about 40 stage plays.
Social media is buzzing with different opinions on popular slogan Mera Jism Meri Marzi. Each and every celebrity has shared their stance on the slogan.
Sarim Burney, who is the founder of Sarim Burney International Trust has also shared his opinion on Mera Jism Meri Marzi. He completely rejects the idea behind this slogan and reacted angrily in his video.
He shared, “I know a lot of people who work in western NGOs and I know their women too and I swear to God I have never seen any woman. They hide their women but when I am going to their Facebook and I am shocked that they favour Mera Jism Meri Marzi.”
“Do you have to live in this world only? Don’t you have any faith? I am not talking about religion but I am talking about faith,” says Burney.
He added, “You are Muslim or non-Muslim, I don’t care but any religion has not allowed vulgarity.”
He went on and said, “Why people criticize Hareem Shah it’s her body and her rules.”
He doesn’t support any woman who believes in this slogan and any woman in his shelter also don’t support it.
Sarim Burney explained the purpose of Aurat March and said, “The purpose is that don’t take away rights from women and don’t beat her.”
“Facilitate those women who are suffering, come forward for those women who want to get an education. Pay their fee, buy them uniform and books,” he added.
Sarim Burney is all against Mera Jism Meri Marzi and he kept on supporting his stance till the end.
Khalil-ur-Rehman signed four drama serials and one film script with Geo Entertainment and 7th Sky Entertainment.
Geo Entertainment announced that they have suspended the contract of Khalil-ur-Rehaman after he gave derogatory remarks on Marvi Sirmed.
The popular channel also wants Khalil-ur-Rehman to apologize for using abusive language and sexist remarks.
The official statement says, “Geo believes in exchange of ideas and promoting the culture of Live and Let Live (Geo our Jeenay do) we believe that everyone has the right to express their opinions and the culture of healthy debate should be encouraged. Khalil u Rehman Qamar sb not only used abusive language against a woman but also refused to accept his mistake and apologize for it.”

Marvi Sirmed was born on June 11, 1970. Her father Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq was a bureaucrat. He retired as a Directorate General of Public Relations Punjab in 2003. Her grandfather Chaudhry Abdul Rehman was a farmer from Bahawalpur and joined hands with the Nawab of Bhawalpur for the agricultural growth of their hometown. Marvi Sirmed Was A Pre-Medical Student
Before venturing into journalism, Marvi Sirmed was a student of Pre-Medical. It was around the early 90’s when she veered towards journalism and started writing for different national newspapers such as Daily News, Daily Jung and Khabrein.

While completing her higher education, Marvi has taught subjects like English and Chemistry. After she obtained her Masters degree in Science and Education from the University of Punjab, she continued with her teaching and taught schools like Pamir Knot Higher Secondary School and Crescent Model High School, Lahore.

It was in the late 90’s when Marvi Sirmed started getting involved in NGO’s and different organizations. At first she started as a social activist but later joined hands with different NGOs which worked towards the rights of women. Marvi Sirmed is popularly known for taking a stand against Hudood Ordinances 1979, amendments in the Blasphemy Laws. She advocates against all the rural norms and traditions that are against women. She also actively speaks in the favor of ethnic minorities and raises her voice for their rights.

Both Marvi and Hafiz Hamdullah exchanged derogatory terms and that is when Hafiz Hamdullah almost lost control and tried to hit her. Marvi Sirmed filed an FIR report against Hafiz Hamdullah for threatening her because according to her, all the things that he said were nothing short of a rape threat.

The latest fiasco that has put Marvi Sirmed’s name everywhere on the media is her heated debate and argument with the writer Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. They were invited on Neo News’s Live Talk Show to discuss Aurat March where they had to give their reasoning behind supporting and opposing Aurat March and the slogan of Mera Jism Meri Marzi. The moment Khalil ur Rehman Qamar started voicing his opinion, Marvi Sirmed chanted her slogan and that is when the argument turned ugly. Khalil ur Rehman Qamar ended up abusing and body shaming Marvi Sirmed. Ever since, people have been divided on this matter. Yesterday, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar was again invited on a talk show, allowing him a chance to make amends and clarify what he did. During a live show, he abused and disrespected Marvi Sarmad. He used disgraceful and unethical words on a live tv show and showed his harsh side. Many celebrities raised his voice against him and felt ashamed for working with him.
Mansoor Ali Khan, a host of To The Point on Express-News, called Khalil-ur-Rehman as a guest on his show. The reason for calling him on the show was to ask why he used abusive language for a woman on a live TV show.
Mansoor asked him whether he is sorry for what he said, felt guilty, and wanted to apologize for his behavior. Khalil confidently said he is not sorry at all. He doesn’t feel bad for whatever he said to Marvi. ”If someone will misbehave with me, I will behave badly.” These were his words.

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera seemed never ending. The gazillion commercial breaks of Hum TV along with poor audio quality & delayed timing of Hum Tv’s Live Streaming doesn’t help the drama-watching experience either. This is something they should pay heed to for their overseas viewers who tune to watch the drama while it is airing in Pakistan simultaneously. It was good to see the rest of the characters for a break because in the previous few episodes, it was more or less only Amaan & Ana in the picture. I think the story-tellers have taken their sweet time, therefore they should now pick up a speed & cover the rest of the story by showing Amaan’s revenge & solve the mystery around Nilo Baji’s death.
The Ultimate Question
Let me begin by asking a serious question, Farhana Khala ka sabun slow hai kya? Please don’t tell me a curious soul like Farhana stumbled upon Nilo Baji’s last & final letter almost 2 decades after her death? This has to be the most unconvincing & unrealistic development in the story or maybe the writer had something else in her mind but the director couldn’t really do much more than to ruin the timing & everything surrounding this important detail? The viewers did get to see how Farhana Khala was obsessed with Nilo Baji when she came to Pakistan, so it already is pretty explanatory that Nilo Baji & mystery surrounding her death was always at the back of her mind, so why wasn’t she looking for answers before? Yes, we can also give her a benefit of doubt considering that she got married & was probably raising 2 children, who are more like na maloom afraad in the story, so she got pretty occupied with her marital life & motherhood in general but still? If they had shown it to be a span of a few years, it still would’ve made some sense but 2 decades?
Please don’t expect the viewers to buy the fact that a character as curious as Farhana sat still for almost 2 decades before she started looking for answers. She knew the details like how her parents came back unsatisfied, full of ambiguities about Nilo Baji’s death, so this factor stayed with her for all these years, but still she never decided to look into it & only grew more curious because she visited Pakistan & saw everyone’s reactions & hesitation in answering her questions regarding her sister? Another aspect that made this entire scenario far more unrealistic & unconvincing was that just moments before Farhana declared that she had saved these few things & oftens looks at them to connect with her family & recall their memories, so it just had to be this day after 2 decades going through a pile of few randomly folded papers she saw Nilo Baji’s letter? Please!
I am not sure if I should even expect Ana to show some redeeming qualities or maybe like in a typical Ahsan Talish fashion, she will miraculously grow up & take charge of everything in her life in the last 2 minutes of the last episode of Ye Dil Mera? The only interesting thing was that finally after studying Amaan’s behavior closely for a few days, she has finally started seeing him for who he is & is becoming suspicious. She stumbled upon her necklace & found it in a dustbin. It was enough to disturb her & I am glad she took that as a hint & didn’t just let it pass. Amaan’s strange attitude towards Ghouri also was quite off-putting for Ana. Ana also screened Farhana Khala’s calls & when she finally decided to receive one of them, she just didn’t really pay heed to how rattled she sounded on the phone. Once again, not too sure if the viewers should expect much from Ana’s character because after 19 episodes, the viewers should at least have that much clarity but in this case, it is quite ambiguous!
Amaan for now is pretty much in control of everything, at least so far this is what he thinks but other than that, nothing much happened apart from him shouting at Ana & then acting as if nothing happened. This side of his personality is realistic & makes a lot of sense because it is like after a build up, after he yells or screams, he channels out his pent up anger & then gets the breather to behave normally.
Meer Farooq is pretty much done with Sahira, this is why he is sending her away because he can totally foresee her causing more trouble to him in the future. Sahira will obviously get caught as suggested in the next promo but it seems even Meer Farooq will get to know some details about Amaan that will make him suspicious.
Move The Story Forward
Overall this episode of Ye Dil Mera actually didn’t have much to offer & neither did it take the story forward. The only development worth noticing was Farhana Khala getting to read Nilo Baji’s letter & her father’s diary but because of the fact that she was getting to do all that after 2 decades, it failed to leave an impact. Also, if their father could not share everything with his wife, wasn’t there someone else? A phupho, a chacha, his best friend, his business partner, a colleague or anyone random that he would’ve cared to share some details with? Even a psychopath like Meer Farooq has maintained a healthy relationship with Ghouri, so please don’t tell me that Farhana’s father didn’t have anyone except his diary? Forever alone?
It won’t be wrong to say that some of the scenes have started to seem repetitive, especially Amaan & Ana’s. Everytime Amaan blatantly lies in front of his wife only to later ask her if she was bothered about it or not? Ana not showing any signs of distress after being yelled at by Amaan? Sitting on a sofa aimlessly throughout the day & picking up the pieces by asking Imam-din questions about Amaan & his belongings? I really hope the next episode is promising & offers something substantial because it is becoming a teensy bit hard to maintain an interest in Ye Dil Mera at this stage.
