We reported that there so many weddings on the cards. Everyone is getting married. Priyanka Chopra and Nick just got their marriage licence and they are soon going to tie the know. Deepika and Ranveer have already left for Italy where their wedding will be held. Isha Ambani and Anand Prabal just got their wedding cards published. Aiman and Muneeb’s wedding festivities are going on and there’s an addition to this long list of people of who either married recently or are going to marry soon.
So, the new addition is not any celebrity but our respected Army Chief Of Staff General Qamar Bajwa’s Saad Bajwa. He got married to a daughter of a Lahore based businessman, Sabir Hameed. Pictures of their wedding and Nikah ceremony have been doing rounds on the interned today. General Qamar Bajwa can be seen seated next to his son.
Although, not many people were seen in attendance but there was one famous personality and that is Maulana Tariq Jameel. These pictures are from Bajwa’s son Nikaah ceremony. Qaari is seen reciting prayers for Nikaah.
Other than Maulana Tariq Jameel’s there were many relegious personalities in attendance. Nikaah ceremony was a very simple affair. Earlier, General Raheel Shareef’s son’s wedding pictures were seen too. Although, ceremony was very simple and no big announcements were made prior, we are happy for General’s Bajwa’s son. We wish him a blessed married life.
Ever since Feroze Khan got married, he has hardly ever posted a picture with his wife on his instagram page. Very often he either posts his own pictures on his page or he posts pictures with his co-stars. When Feroze posted a picture with his wife Alizey Feroze, people passed all kinds of negative comments. Some people said that now that Ahad and Sajal were getting so much attention and their new photo shoot had come out, Feroze posted a picture with his wife because he is still so interested in Sajal. The promos of Sajal and Ahad’s upcoming play went viral on internet few days back so some people are assuming that Feroze feels left out.
There were others who said that these two looked like siblings more than a married couple. Some of the people went as far as commenting on Alizey face and one person even said that her teeth were not clean since the caption of this pictures was, “that smile that gets it all done.”
There were many fans which were surprised to read the hate comments and they told these people off. Most people are of the opinion that Feroze posted this picture to get attention because otherwise normally he hardly ever posts pictures with his wife.
North, East, South or West, it’s raining weddings everywhere. They it is very tough when two equally busy people, who also happen to be huge stars, get married but seems like a few couples this year is changing it all forever. It’s not one, two or three celebrity couples but four of them who are going to tie the knot very soon. Sometimes’s people are more excited about celebrities’ personal lives than their professional lives. The couples who are marrying are Pakistani television stars Aiman-Muneeb, Bollywood actors Deepika-Ranveer, Global stars Priyanka-Nick and Sohipe-Joe.
Aiman was recently spotted with her twin sister Minal and her mother shopping for her wedding in Dubai. Their wedding festivities had kicked off with full swing but when they are finally marrying isn’t known yet.
Theirs is so far the biggest wedding ceremony. It will be held in Jaipur India and its pictures rights have been sold for over 33 Cr PKR. Priyanka celebrate her bridal shower at Tiffany & Co. and later Nick Jonas celebrated his bachelor party. They have also bought an expensive mansion in LA where they will live after their wedding.
Another most awaited wedding is Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s. The duo have left the country already for Italy where their wedding event will take place at Lake Como. Their wedding is said to be more of a private affair.
Another awaited wedding is Priyanka Chopra’s brother-in-law Joe Jonas’ with Sophie Turner. They have been together for a year but have not announced their wedding if things go right, they soon will follow the footsteps of Priyanka and Nick.
Alizeh Shah was noticed for her pretty eyes and good acting when she played the role of Rushna’s sister in Ishq Tamasha. The young actress has become quite a sensation since debuting in the drama industry, all thanks to her looks and overall persona. The actress recently did a bridal photo shoot and people just fell in love with her beauty and style.
Alizeh Shah is playing the role of Bakhto in Baandi right now and soon she will be seen as the lead actress of the dramas, the way she is polishing her skills and how people have been falling in love with the young actress. Another film is all set to hit the cinema screens soon. Pakistani cinema has been developing with leaps and bounds and more and more films are releasing every year and doing huge businesses. Movies from all sorts of genres are making a mark at the box office like romance, drama, comedy and animation. Along with that our movies are also making quite a mark with critics. Gumm is also a film which has made quite a mark at different film festivals. It has garnered nominations and some wins too with Sami Khan winning the best actor title in Canada.
Gumm is a thriller and stars Sami Khan, Shameen Khan and Shamoon Abbasi in lead roles. The film is directed and written by Ammar Lasani and Kinza Zia. Gumm is all set to release in Pakistani cinemas on 11th January 2019. With garnering 15 plus nominations internationally, it will be fun to watch the film in local cinemas now.
The thriller has already made heads turn, let’s see how is it going to perform at the local box office.
Ayub Khoso needs no introduction. He has one talented person hailing from Balochistan who has done successful television projects and also films. One would possibly assume since he’s an actor, he must be in news for some of his project but let me clarify. Ayub’s video has been going viral since yesterday and its content is rather amusing.
So, smartphones have become such a rage that we can possibly forget breathing but not using a smartphone. Even if we are gathering with friends or relatives we have not seen for long, we prefer to be on our phones than enjoy our time with them. Morgan Freeman said a very funny thing that if we tell people that mind is an app, they may start using it. Well, seems like veteran actor Ayub Khoso neither needs a phone nor an app at least not while he is eating. And beware, he doesn’t want anyone to use phone when they are eating.
Ayub’s friend director Abdullah Badini uploaded a video to his facebook where Ayub is seen snatching phone’s from his friends’ hands who are eating as well as checking their phones. Ayub put his own phone and at the end snatched Abdullah’s phone who was recording. We must salute Ayub for giving such an important message in a fun way.
Karachi is lucky in a way that many theatre and literary festivals happen where audience gets to see their favorite artists speak or perform live. Lahore hasn’t many of them. But there’s an exception; Faiz Mela. It is an annual literary event where intellectuals gather to talk about various topics. Many panel discussions take place and performances are also a part of the event.
This year it will be held for the fourth year. Last couple of years saw many stars take part in the panel discussions; Mahira Khan also appeared in 2016. It is going to be a three day even starting from 16th November. A performance by Laal Band, a talk session with Arshad Mehmood and Farooq Qaiser and Daastangoi have been scheduled.
The aim of the event is to celebrate the work of the great poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, who is popular not only in Pakistan but all around the world. The festival will also welcome some foreign authors who will be launching their books during the 3 day event. Actress Shabana Azmi is going to attend the event. She will talk about her father poet Kaifi Azmi’s chemistry with Faiz Ahmed Faiz. A session called Uljhi Huwi Baaten will have actress Seemi Raheel, Sameena Peerzada, Javed Sheikh and Imran Abbas.
An unfortunate incident happened on Sunday when two children from a family died due to food poisoning after they dined out at a restaurant in Karachi. According to the police investigation, the family dined out at Arizona Grill restaurant located in the Defence Housing Authority’s Zamzama area. The family then had some candies from a shop outside Chunky Monkey amusement park located in DHA Phase IV.
According to the family, the children went back home at about 2 am and started vomiting at 6 am. The family took them to the hospital at 2.45 pm when the children were not seen recovering. According to the experts, food poisoning does hit a person in about 4 hours. The mother of both deceased children, 1.5-year-old Ahmed and 5-year-old Muhammad is also hospitalized and is recovering.
The eateries have both been sealed by the Sindh Food Authority and samples have been collected. The CM of Sindh Murad Ali Shah and Governor have also taken notice of the matter.
The Ambanis are one of the richest families in the world. With many high profile weddings happening in the Bollywood this season, including the much awaited joining f Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and one of the most high profile weddings with Bollywood’s biggest star Priyanka Chopra marrying the Hollywood star Nick Jonas, the other big Indian wedding is of Isha Ambani daughter of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani to fiance Anand Piramal.
The wedding invitations are ready as the wedding will be on the 12th of December and the invitations are nothing short of something at the royalty status. Clad in a box, the friends and family are mesmerized by the invitation along with the social media. Each invitation cost around 3 lakh INR which is equal to 5.5 lakh PKR. Absolutely regal! When you are the daughter of the world’s richest person, this was meant to be. Here is the first glimpse of the invitation and it is totally king sized:
Earlier we reported that Syra Shahroze and Shahroze Sabzwari have signed a fim together. It is being shot in Bahrain these days. This would be couple’s first ever film together. Shahroze had started his film career with Syed Noor’s debacle Chain Aye Na. Let bygones by bygones. Syra, on the other had, had debut into films with Chalay Thay Sath opposite a Chinese actor Kent S. Leung. Well, seems like Syra is again going to work with an international artist.
It is reported that that ‘Turn Me On’ singer Kevin Lyttle is going to be a part of the film. Earlier, it was revealed that Indian actor Ankur Rathee would act in the film. Kevin is the latest international addition. Kevin is a is a Vincentian soca artist, who had a worldwide hit with “Turn Me On” in 2004.
Directed by Omar Isa Khan, this upcoming movie also features young actors including Sabeena Saeed who made her film debut in Parwaaz Hai Junoon while the film is going to serve as a debut for Aadi Adeal Amjad, Shehzeen Rahat and others. The film revolves around two young people – that’d be Syra and Shahroze – who fall in love but their love, however, falls apart owing to their circumstances. The film will tentatively be released on Eid-ul-Adha in 2019.
Mahira Khan is a stunner. She is always sporting the best style there is and can rock every style with perfection. Mahira Khan attended an event where she was seen wearing a grey stripped power suit. Paired with beachy waves, a no-makeup makeup look and some trendy shades, she definitely made heads turned as she stepped out for the event.
Mahira Khan is a stunner in every sense of the word. She knows how to style herself to perfection while looking effortless and beautiful. She gave the power suit a trendy touch with the way she carried it. The silver pointy heels also added to the overall appeal of her look. We have seen Mahira in casual jeans and Ts, we have seen her rocking saris and lehengas with utter perfection and she can look absolutely breath-taking in shalwar kameez but we have to say that power suits are Mahira’s IT thing. Here are some pictures of the diva from the event:
Mahira is giving major style goals to all the power ladies out there. Watch her and see some style inspiration.
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. Well, the big bash this couple threw shows how much they love each other and how much they want to celebrate their togetherness. This actor and his wife have completed a few years together and celebrated it with a grand party where many other couples from the industry were spotted, too.
Noman Masood is an ace actor. He has been in the industry for a very long time. He started when there was just PTV and NTM and made his presence felt. It is not a secret anymore that the celebrities all around the world especially in Bollywood rely a lot on numerology in order to reach a certain level of success that they dream of. This practice is not only confined to their names but they also consult the numerologists to spell their movies and choose their release dates for them because they are superstitious enough to believe that this is going to make their movies do well at the box office. Over the time we have seen so many celebrities who tweaked with the spellings because after a certain point in their careers they gave in to the temptation of numerology.
Sadly, in recent times this trend has crept into Pakistani industry as well. While going through morning shows, you’d often see different numerologists promoting the study of numerology and citing very childish reasons to add weight to their argument. What makes our belief firm on the fact that our celebrities have also changed their names for fame is the fact that they not only agree but they also endorse everything that these numerologists say.
There was a time when only the film and theater actors used to change their names completely because they thought their real names were not very filmy or catchy. Many of the present actresses who started their career from modelling and acting in dramas also did so. Saba Qamar, Maya Ali, Kubra Khan and others changed their screen names not because they thought it will turn their luck around but because they wanted a name which was shorter and more appealing.
People (read fans of these celebrities) might come up with different justifications like may be they wanted to make their names look more appealing, or may be because they wanted their names to stand out or ‘luk kewl’, but the fact is, no one, one fine day wakes up and starts seeing an issue with how their names were spelled originally. Also, this can’t be denied that our celebrities are past that ‘age’ where they’d want to be remembered as someone with a uniquely spelled name because this is something that girls and boys do when they are in high school. The fact that recently quite a lot of celebrities have changed the way they spell their names does show that they are doing it all for fame because apart from numerology, our celebrities on different platforms have endorsed astrology, gemology and all such logies which hold no truth and no reality. Yes, being superstitious is one thing but being so immature to fall for such traps is another because one way or the other, you end up promoting these things which is most certainly not needed.
So, let’s check out the graph of all those celebrities who tweaked with their names for fame and find out brought anything good to them or not:
From Humaima Malik to Humaima Malick
When she was Humaima Malik, she got the opportunity to work in Bol, which is obviously one such movie which was watched by the masses and she did gain a lot of popularity through it, but ever since she has become Humaima Malick, not only she is nowhere to be seen but she landed herself a movie like Raja Natwarlal, hmmm enough said.
From Mawra Hussain to Mawra Hocane
Yes, Mawra has time and again given childish reasons that in class 6th, just because she wanted to stand out she changed her name but we ain’t buying that. It is a done deal that Mawra can go to any lengths to achieve the fame, be it her dependence on PR Team to stay in the limelight, her Instagram following which she takes pride in or be it her flop movie Sanam Teri Kasam which she would defend left, right and center while believing that she carried it in its entirety on her shoulders. So, this unique surname does suggest that it was deliberately changed with an ulterior motive.
From Urwa Hussain to Urwa Hocane
The only good work to Urwa’s credit is her inclusion in the drama serial Udaari, that too which she got after being associated with the industry for a long time. Just because Mawra told her sister to change her name, Urwa said she did it which again is something that we are not buying. The fact that both the Hocane Sisters have invested so much effort in PR activities goes to show that they really take attaining fame through external help quite seriously, so in this case numerology is no different.
From Saboor Ali to Saboor Alee
Ali/Alee/Aly, for Saboor it just doesn’t change anything because when she joined the industry as Saboor Ali, Sajal Ali’s sister, she was nowhere to be seen and now when she has gone through the pain of changing her name to attain the fame, she is still pretty invisible and the nature of her work is not the kind that would give her the success every other actor or even she dreams of. So, we feel saddened to burst the bubble but Saboor, the only thing that might have changed is your name but your graph has pretty much remained the same!
From Ali Khan to Aly Khan
Ali Khan who is now Aly Khan for many years now is probably the one who set the precedent of replacing an I with Y and hoping to hit a jackpot in the industry by changing one alphabet in his name but guess what just like all the other celebrities in this list, he hasn’t really achieved the kind of success which many other actors in the same age group have managed to achieve without changing anything about their names! This basically just proves our point that Adnan Siddiqui and Noman Ijaz managed to get this far without changing their Is to Ys therefore playing with the alphabet does not really determine how famous you get or how well you do in the industry!
From Sajal Ali to Sajal Aly
There is no arguing the fact that Sajal Ali has always been a phenomenal actress right from the get-go therefore we don’t understand why someone like her will follow a trend which is obviously more of a moral support for all those celebrities who haven’t been able to make it big in the industry. Sajal’s career did not take off in any way after changing the I to Y because at the end of the day, an actor’s performance and hard work pays off and Sajal has really proved her mettle time and again solely through her phenomenal performances. Sajal has a fan following and it is even more annoying to see her fans also redesigning their phonics and alphabets by following her lead!
From Arij Fatima to Arij Fatyma
Arij Fatima is another actress whose career did not undergo any kind of massive shift when she changed the spellings of her name. Perhaps she thought Fatima wasn’t cool enough but even then replacing the I with Y is so common now that even that is not very cool or different any more. We definitely expected better from an actress who has enough talent to go places without attempting to ‘stand out’ in this manner or in other words depending on numerology to help herself.
From Sonia Hussain to Sonya Hussyn
Sonia Hussain has been around for a really long time and she is a great actress as well but the fact is that she still hasn’t acquired the kind of position in the industry which many other actresses who joined showbiz after her, managed to acquire in a few years. Sonia Hussain did not only replace one I in her name with Y but she went “the extra mile” and changed both of them hoping that just like her recent cosmetic surgeries they will “re-brand” her but her career hasn’t taken off after these changes.
If we take a look at the successful careers and the fame that the veteran actors to the recent time stars like Bushra Ansari, Waheed Murad, Samina Peerzada, Javed Sheikh, Shaan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Saba Qamar, Imran Abbas, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan have enjoyed and are enjoying, we can most certainly say that the tactics like changing names because of numerology don’t really do anything for anyone because what actually matters is the talent, the consistency and the star power that one naturally has and should have.
Yes, we do have some actors who based on genuine reasons have made the changes in their spellings like Faysal Qureshi, because there are other Faisal Qureshis in the industry too, so it does make sense that he wanted his fans to be able to differentiate between him and others but to see these young actors now going to such extremes to earn fame is not only questionable but objectionable too. We most certainly believe that all these numerologists who frequent on different morning shows to promote such stuff should be strictly banned and should not be allowed to preach any such thing which might deviate people’s faith from the right path.
So, with this we conclude our article and encourage you guys to share your thoughts on the subject as well. Also, just for the sake of an experiment and to see if the tweakage in our spellings will bring any difference in our readership, for this article we are:
If you have been a viewer of Ishq Tamasha and gotten annoyed by the way some characters behaved, get ready to grab a treat. Kinza Hashmi and Faizan Khawaja, also known as the Rushna and Arham of Ishq Tamasha are coming back with Tu Ishq Hai. This time around you will be watching something totally opposite.
This time our Rushna will be the one whining after Arham and not the other way around. The drama also has Eshal Fayyaz as one of the lead characters. Here are the promos of the upcoming drama:
Eshal is also ready for her film debut with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana. She has created quite an array of characters for herself. This will be Faizan and Kinza’s second project but in a totally different light. Are you guys excited for this?
If there’s a wedding that the entire world is waiting for, it is former miss world Priyanka Chopra and Jonas Brothers singer Nick Jonas’. Earlier this year, the two were spotted leaving together after Met Gala party. It raised some eyebrows and the tabloids started reporting about their dating. Priyanka said that they had met through a friend and became friends instantly. Priyanka was doing a lead role opposite Salman Khan in Bharat but she quit as she wanted to get married.
Later both confirmed the relationship when their roka ceremony pictures came out. It was then reported that the two will get married in December this year. Well, guess that was true. The two announced that they would be getting married on Nov 30th in Jaipur, India. But the date had to be postponed as they needed some time. After, all it’s a big fat west meets east wedding.
While, most Hollywood celebrities keep their weddings private, Nickyanka has decided to go all public. Their wedding is going to exclusively be covered by a magazine. They have not revealed the name of the magazine but it is said that the pictures have been sold for whopping $2.5 Million which is 33 crore and 50 Lac PKR. Well, isn’t it jaw-dropping? Anyway, we wish the couple a great married life.
Though the time for the Halloween is up, looks like our celebrities are still in the spirits of Halloween. People dress up as scary characters or either as their favourite movie or show characters on Halloween. Hassan Rizvi this year also threw a Halloween party and many celebs were spotted in different looks. From a police officer to Wonder Woman and bombs we had everything and everyone present at the party. Nadia Hussain, Nida Yasir, Mansha Pasha, Komal Rizvi, Muneeb Butt, Asad Siddiqui, Yasir Hussain and many other stars showed up in different avatars. Here have a look what all these actors were wearing:
Mansha Pasha literally used her name hilariously for her outfit idea while the police officer’s outfit is one most of the most favourite it seems. Which look are you guys voting for? Share in comments!
Ohkay so, this episode of Deedan didn’t have anything new to offer. No matter how elaborate the cast is or how amazing the locations are, a drama needs a strong storyline to work & click with the audience which definitely is the main factor missing in Deedan. I will continue to give this drama a try in a hope that it will pick up a pace & have a lot more to offer.
Resham is Mentally & Emotionally Free:
Resham has become more like a captive after her marriage to Shehbaz Khan but Resham is relieved as she has found a roof over her head away from the shadow of her father who she hasn’t really forgiven till date. Resham’s parents in law only treat her as a house maid & she’s nothing more than that for them.
Shehbaz Khan passed away & it was too obvious that it had no effect on Resham because she was not at all emotionally attached to him. For Resham, Shehbaz Khan was a liability & now she was emotionally & mentally free. It does look like Gulbaz Khan might consider getting married to Resham because he couldn’t help noticing her which means she is not as free as she thinks she is.
Zardab came back only for Resham & his mother wasn’t happy at all. Palwasha & Alam Zeb’s track took a different turn. Aalam Zeb seemed a little too keen on the fact that Palwasha should do some job & earn some money. Palwasha also got convinced but it looks like the destiny had something else in store for her. It is obvious that Palwasha’s pictures will be a big hit with the client that the photograper clicked them for & it will open anoher domain for Palwasha. I really want things to work out between Aalam Zeb & Palwasha without him exploiting his wife in any way.
Closing Thoughts – Things Should Change:
Overall, this episode of Deedan didn’t have anything special to offer. I totally believe that things should move forward now & the story should show something substantial if it has any depth. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Baby Izhaan has been making headlines ever since he is born. First of all his father’s sweet tweet that announced that he has arrived then his khala’s cute wishes. They also celebrated his one week birthday. Upon the announcement of baby Mirza Malik’s birth, the one person who was most excited was Bollywood filmmaker Farah Khan. She had also promised that she would visit Sania soon.
Sania and Farah are known to be the best friends. They have appeared on many TV shows together. Their appearance on Koffee With Karan’s fifth season was a riot. Sania had also attended Farah’s cooking show Farah Ki Dawat. Farah had once revealed about the beginning of their friendship saying, “I wanted Sania as a guest on one of my shows but somehow we were not able to arrive at a common date due to our schedules. So when she came back to India, she came over to my house for a coffee and we chatted about almost everything under the sun and I never felt that I was talking to her for the first time. It is interesting to have a bond with someone who is not from the film fraternity as it broadens the scope of your conversations. We instantly connected.”
Finally, Farah has reached Dubai where Sania lives to see baby Izhaan Mirza Malik and her bestie. She shared a picture captioning, “We Always hav each other’s back! Lov u Mirza Sania the baby is gorgeous n this visit was too short.. will make up 4 it next trip.. ♥️bless ul”
Saif Samejo is a legend in the making. He’s one person whose sole purpose is to create music. This year has been very lucky for him. His initiative Lahooti Melo completed 3 years and Cake, that he composed music for, went to the Oscars as Pakistan’s official submission for the foreign language film. He gave an interview to Dawn images, recently, and talked about his experience about the Me Too movement.
Saif shared a painful experience saying that earlier this year his Lahooti Melo team gathered where one of the volunteers at the first ever event opened up about her Me Too experience. She had suffered at the hands of one of the guests invited to the event in 2016. She was a budding artist and after knowing that, the predator, who happens to be a known media person, tracked her down on social media. He said that he won her trust and made her feel comfortable. It was then he forced him on her one day which shook her to the core. She tried to commit suicide but survived.
He said “I saw women with the courage to share their stories, who were being very brave, and the backlash [they would get]. Also, men like this media person who [sensing that their time might be up] would preemptively generate a narrative [around themselves], so that if they are accused, they can get away with it.” He is also planning to dedicate this year’s Lahooti Melo to the Me Too movement.
Ohkay so, this episode of Khud Parast was done well but the twist that the story took wasn’t convincing as the situation was unrealistic & seemed forced.
Uswa’s Immaturity:
Uswa is struggling hard & she can not adjust because she has a whole lot of issues with the way things work in Hanan’s house as well as how Bakhtawar has a control over everything. Uswa is depressed & she has lost that spark, that is why everyone who meets her reminds her of that. Uswa’s mother is still optimistic & she thinks Uswa will be able to change things for the better but with the kind of input she is giving, chances are slim!
Uswa knows that Hanan can’t stand lying. Uswa has already seen how Hanan can over-react when things are not in line with his perspective so for Uswa to actually go ahead with the lie that her mother fabricated about Uswa’s pregancy was sheer stupidity. Yes, Uswa knew that she will be caugth but then again, what was the need to lie especially relying on such a thing which was bound to be revealed sooner or later? Even though the writer might have relied on this scenario to make Hanan look bad or Bakhtawar cold-hearted but this entire situation was so unrealistic & forced that for me Uswa & her mother were wrong here not Hanan or anyone else.
Adeel is hovering around Uswa reminding her that she doesn’t look happy! Does Adeel’s character has anything else to do or he is just there to add more problems to Uswa’s life because I am sure when Hanan will find out about Uswa still being friends with Adeel, he will react again.
The conversations that Hanan & Uswa had were nicely written. Uswa has a lot to change, she has so much to make Hanan understand too because so far he only follows what Bakhtawar has taught him. It does look like Uswa will finally start saying a thing or two to Hanan about Bakhtawar directly which will further create issues for her but it is much needed to bring a different side of Hanan’s personality forward.
Closing Thoughts – Strong Acting & Direction:
Overall, this episode of Khud Parast was decent. They are taking things forward at a decent pace but I guess they shouldn’t really rely on unconvincing situations much because the story on its own has a lot of potential to make a good drama. The acting & the direction like all the previous episodes was perfect. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khud Parast.

We reported yesterday that Roohi Bano had been missing from the mental health institution, Fountain House. The authorities said that Roohi had left to live with her brother but she came for the regular check ups but she had not been coming for sometime. This got them alerted and they informed the police. When, leading media houses reported that she had been missing, her sister denied any such disappearance and said that Roohi is staying with her brother and she will brought in front the media.
The institution authorities said that her sister got her discharged as Roohi was there since 2016. They said she came initially for the regular check ups but her sister had stopped bringing her for the treatment. On being contacted, she never responds. Roohi had alleged previously that her family especially her sister was after her property. Her sister had denied such allegations saying, ” There is no reality in these allegations. People and the media should not take any interest in this matter as it is a family affair.”
Roohi had been suffering from schizophrenia. Her two failed marriages and untimely death of her son lead her to these circumstances. She had also appeared on a couple of TV shows and often how shattered she has been.
Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 2 Story Review – This second episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was spell-binding. Imran Ashraf’s brilliance as an actor who loves playing challenging roles reflected in every single scene tonight. Loved everything about tonight’s episode from Bhola’s innocence to his honesty. Noori’s sense of superiority and her relentless faith in herself were equally interesting to watch.
Is Noori In Love?
In this episode, the viewers were shown how well-settled Noori was in her new abode in just a few days. Noori was always a misfit in her house therefore being in a new place which was clean and where she got respect was like a dream come true for her. The way Noori reacted when she saw her room in the haveli pretty much summed up her frame of mind. Noori dreaded going back home and the fact that she went to Ama Janate’s house first went to show that she did not miss anything about her own house – not even her parents. Noori’s character is intriguing more than anything else because on the one hand she is constantly judging her parents and does not even like being around them and on the other she is already dreaming about a man she just met. So far Noori seems like a practical girl who dreams of a better future therefore watching Noori fall for a man so quickly makes me wonder if the sole reason for this is that this man fits into her idea of the perfect future. Syed Jibran’s impression in this episode was somewhat different from his first impression. It seemed like he was fascinated by Noori but then his first comment after seeing Noori is hard to ignore.
Ama Janate and Noori’s Scenes
Ama Janate and Noori’s scenes tonight were just as meaningful as they were the previous week. Ama Janate keeps on telling Noori to value her parents and to be more grounded. Even though Noori respects Ama Janate more than anyone else she knows but even then none of her advices have any affect on her. Noori is very certain that her perspective is right therefore she does exactly what she has planned. She wants to help her parents but at the same time she plans to save money.
Bhola and Noori Meet
Bhola’s character, the way the introductory scene was written as well as executed was simply amazing. The scene in the bus was hilarious, Bhola’s innocence and the naughty-fun side of his personality was all revealed at once. Bhola and Noori’s first meeting was touching especially because of the way Bhola explained why his mother was mean. This scene was emotional and slightly disturbing too. It also showed just how clever, sensitive and observant Bhola was. This scene completely won me over!
Overall Impression
Bhola and Noori are the kind of characters we see around us all the time in real life but they are the people we choose to ignore mostly. This drama makes you want to pause and think about all such people, I guess that is what makes it a bit disturbing too. These “unimportant” people too have stories to tell which are just as relevant and important as the stories of people who makes it to social media and the newspapers. Imran Ashraf completely stole the show tonight – something tells me that Bhola is going to make us laugh and cry at the same time. Iqra Aziz totally owned her character tonight. It is definitely good watching her play this role. Noori and Bhola both have a great deal to offer. Noor-ul-Hassan is another phenomenal actor who nails every character he plays. His interest in Noori means more trouble for her…how will she get out of this one?
The Preview
The preview of the next episode suggested that Noori will propose to the man of her dreams herself. The preview also showed Bhola taking Noori to the circus where she will meet Mumtaz begum!
How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about it.
Imran Ashraf is undoubtedly the dark horse of the entertainment industry. He is not the one who became famous overnight due to one project, one picture or one song. He is not a sensation that comes like a bang and then fades away. He is a talent who comes, expresses and stays. Anyone who missed how good he was in Dillagi saw his talent in Alif Allah Aur Insaan where he played the role and showed the tribulations faced by a transgender in this society to the perfection. And who is left should just tune in to Ranjha Ranjha Kardi and you will know the craft of this guy. He made people notice him and love him not through his looks or social media or styling but through his craft and talent.
The biggest star of Pakistan, Mahira Khan is never afraid of appreciating her peers. She just goes out and praises who she thinks need to be praised. Mahira took to Twitter and praised Imran Ashraf for his talent. Imran has definitely mesmerized the diva with his latest project. This is what Mahira just had to say about the actor:
We wish to see Mahira Khan and Imran Ashraf together. It will be hands-down an interesting watch. What say!

This one looks like a scenic love story. What do you think?
Each artist gets famous for one thing or another. They all have their signature styles and people know them for their signature styles. Najia Baig is an actress and a host. She was an integral part of Hasb e Haal before leaving it for some other projects.

Mahira Khan is the biggest star in Pakistan. She started her career as a VJ and later turned into an actress. Mahira has taken over everything around her. Be it the award shows, advertisement world, dramas, films or across the border audience, Mahira Khan has conquered all. Mahira is also hands down the most beautiful actresses of Pakistan. She can rock any look and style and is mostly seen in casuals without any makeup. She is not afraid to show her true skin and look to her fans and is always seen with clear skin and beauty.
Though with this amount of fam also comes a lot of work and Mahira is a dedicated star who always abide by her work commitments and enjoy them. But she can also be a fun person and her captions are always hilarious. While posting a no-makeup selfie, the queen called her self the BAAP of procrastination. Here is her hilarious jibe at herself:

Pakistani dramas have become very innovative and we have seen many new concepts and pairings that are unconventional. One such pairing will be seen soon in a new drama. Starring Agha Ali and Resham, a new drama is all set to hit our screens soon.
Agha Ali has played very devilish characters in his last two dramas Mere Bewafa and Band Khirkiyan. Now he is all set to play the role of a landlord. He will pair opposite the Lollywood diva Resham. Resham started her career with television and moved to films after it. She later came back towards the television with a bang. Her comeback drama Man o Salwa was a super hit. She then went on to star in shows like Ishq Ibadat and Naagin. She will be portraying the character of a lawyer in this drama. Here are some BTS shots of the new show:
The cast also consists of Samina Peerzada. It is written by Suraj Baba and directed by Zaib Chaudhary.

Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor have a beautiful family indeed. Many many happy returns of the day to little guy Rayyan Taimoor from our side!
An actor from Pakistan once said that the subcontinent saw two great actress only, Shabana Azmi and Roohi Bano. We couldn’t agree more. She might not have been as famous as Waheeda Rehman or Sharmila Tagore but she certainly was the greatest of all of them in every possible way. Had she been in the west, she would have been given the title of Dame long ago but here in our society art is not the most respected field. She served PTV for long and ended up with her ill-fate.
She was a daughter of a tabla maestro Allah Rakha who failed her first audition terribly but who knew that it was just a beginning of the making of the greatest actress ever in Pakistan. She had done so many of complex roles that it was obvious that they had deep psychological effects on her. Her chaotic personal life just added fuel to the fire. She married twice and lost her young son when he was only 21. It shattered her to the core and she lost her mental stability.
According to media reports, she has disappeared from Lahore today. She was at Fountain House, where she was treated but she wasn’t found there so the police searched her at her house in Gulberg but she was nowhere to be found. The actor, according to the doctors, suffers from schizophrenia.
Upcoming drama serial Aangan has to be the most awaited drama this year for countless reasons. It has some of the most loved television artists in its cast, it has been directed by Muhammad Ehteshamuddin who never fails to impress, the script has been written by one of the best writers of present times Mustafa Afridi and most importantly after the mega hit Dastan this is going to be the first drama serial from a big production house which will be a period drama. The first look of the drama has doubled the excitement because everything from the background score to the overall feel of this play appears to be faultless from the promos. The powerful promos have won over even those viewers who were not as excited about the play as some other drama buffs were.
Here is everything you need to know about Aangan.
Aangan’s Script Is Based on a Famous Novel
Aangan’s script is based on one of the greatest novels written by Khadija Mastoor back in 1962. The novel is set in the 1930s and 1940s. This novel won the Adamji Literacy Award in the year 1963. It is widely read because it has been translated in 13 different languages which basically goes to show how famous it was. In English it was translated by Daisy Rockwell and is titled “The Women’s Courtyard”.
Aangan’s Complete Cast With The Name Of The Characters
While talking to reviewit, the iconic director who is behind this drama revealed, “We want to make it a saga. There will be four seasons. The first story ends in 1948, doosra Aangan (1948-1988), teesra Aangan (1988-2008) Fourth will be till tabdeeli.”
Aangan’s Main Characters Will Be Females
Like Dastaan, Aangan too will focus more on the female leads than the male. The main characters of the drama will be Aaliya, Chammi, TehminaBaji and Kusum Didi. The men also have distinct personalities and will be playing important roles but the most important characters in the play are being played by the women. The writer Mustafa Afridi while talking to Daily Times shared, ” I worked very hard to stay true to the richly fleshed-out characters of Mastoor’s novel. Jameel, Aaliya, Safdar, Chammi, Kusum, Asrar and the others, all the characters have been defined in great detail – and with great skill and intelligence – by the author . Their strengths and weaknesses, convictions and doubts, and dreams and actions make them real, relatable and interesting.”
Mustafa Afridi Has Dedicated Many Years To This Drama
The idea for Aangan originated back in 2012. It took the writer Mustafa Afridi a whole year to read the novel because he wanted to understand the meaning and depth of all the characters completely before penning down the script. It took him another year to write down the script. Mustafa Afridi was deeply involved both mentally and emotionally throughout.
Aangan Will Be More About Human Emotions Than Politics
Since the original novel is set in the 30s and 40s therefore it is only fair to question if it will be relevant today. The answer to that was given by both the writer and the director as well as Ahsan Khan in different interviews. The characters and their journeys are the central theme of the play therefore the play itself is going to be all about powerful emotions and the political aspects of the play will be taking a backseat. This will make it easier for the viewers to connect to the characters. Omair Rana shared in a recent interview that he was in awe of the flow and structure of the screenplay. He also added that the writer has captured the psychological emotional and moral tension brilliantly.
Please do share interesting details about this upcoming drama in the comments section without giving away the main plot and details about the characters.
Most actors start at very young age so that by the time they are in their late 20s, they can do significant roles. Well, that’s not the case with Zahid Ahmed. He was working as a COO in a company in Islamabad, he got married and life was all good until he thought of pursuing acting. He came to Karachi, did a theatre production and soon landed on television. Although, he had a rough period for a while, he did not really had to struggle when it came to good roles. He did his first serial, then second and then he was all over the place. His amazing voice and brilliant acting skills have turned him into a huge star.
He is doing very well on television but film has to be the ultimate dream of an actor. So now after wooing audiences on television he’s doing a film. He’s made his debut in a film called Azaad already but he had a minor role. This time he is doing a film called Sorry a love story. It is directed by Sohail Javed. He’s sharing screen with Sonya Hussyn, Aaminah Shaikh and Faisal Qureshi. There’s an actor from the film who seemed to have impressed him alot.
He put up a picture on Instagram with Aaamina Sheikh and called her beyond brilliant. He said he could not wait to perform with her as he love’s her acting. Well, that’s really good to see Zahid supporting and appreciating his co-actors. Sorry will be releasing next year.
If there’s one superstar in Pakistan in a true sense of word, it is Mehwish Hayat. Others have worked across the border, got a Bollywood stamp and it increased their stardom over here. She didn’t need to do it. She’s an actor par excellence. Her acting skills are sometimes not given enough due because of her uber glamorous image but that doesn’t mean she just focuses on being a Diva. She was snubbed of the best actor award for her wonderful performance in Punajb Nahin Jaungi and she didn’t bother. Now, that’s how a superstar is going to behave.
Entertainment Pakistan collected data of all her films and it summed to be 107 crore which his highest for any actor in Pakistan. She isn’t just an Instagram queen but also a box office winner. She’s in news these days for her much talked about web series where she plays a rockstar. It is directed by Wajahat Rauf. She also won the IPPA award for the best actress in a leading role earlier this year in London. Well, that’s what Mehwish keeps doing. It’s part of her being awesome. What has caught our eyes recently is her brand new AD film.
This ad isn’t just another AD as Mehwish is going to be seen as a chinese empress. She looks immensely beautiful in her red attire and we are wishing that a film collab may happen between Pakistan and China, as she could perfectly headline the film.
Diwali is celebrated annually by Hindus all over the world during autumn in the northern hemisphere. It is called the festival of lights and celebrated as sign of the victory of lightness over darkness or good over evil. It has been celebrated for over thousands of years. Although, it is a part of Hindu culture, people around the globe celebrate it. The world has become a global village and everyone seems to celebrating every festival. Like, they celebrate Eid in India with immense respect, people here in Pakistan have started to celebrate Holy and Diwali, too.
Deepak Perwani is an ace fashion designer. He has also acted in some dramas. His last memorable role was as Sanam Saeed’s father in Kadoorat. His collections, when exhibited, never cease to impress but that’s not all about him. Deepak hails from a Sindhi-Hindu family and this year he gave a big bash on Diwali which was attended by the who’s who of fashion, film and television fraternities. Sportsman Waseem Akram attended the party with wife Shaniera Akram.
Other celebrities who attended the bash were Mahira Khan, Feroze Khan, Ayesha Omer, Noor Hassan, Ayesha toor, Zhalay Sarhadi, Ameen Gulgee Fashion designer Omer Saeed, models Amna Ilyas, Sadaf Kanwal, Fouzia Amna, Nabeel Zuberi and more. We got hold of the all the pictures and everyone of them is seen having fun.
Sonya’s last two television projects have been huge hits. Meri Guriya was the most well-made serial compared to the rest that tackled the same issue. She shared screen space with the powerhouse of talent Sania Saeed and Mohsin Abbas Haider. Her Aisi Tanhaayi was such a huge hit that MBC Bollywood dubbed into Arabic for the Arab audience. In short, she is on the go. Recently, in an interview she revealed about what she is up to next.
We reported earlier today that on being asked about her doing film Lafangay opposite Sami Khan she said that it has not been finalised yet. She also said that she is in talks with the makers of Punjab Nahin Jaungi 2. Well, we can’t say anything unless she announces formally. She has also signed a film opposite Faysal Qureshi, Zahid Ahmed and Aaminah Shaikh. It will be directed by Sohail Javed. She said that it is not a song and dance commercial film rather it is a story of four complex characters. She said that she was initially reluctant to do the film.
She continued saying that Sohail Javed convinced her and she said yes. She said the role was so emotionally complex that she would have had to dive into some painful experiences from the past to bring depth to the part and she was not keen on doing it. But the director showed confidence in her and she ended up signing the film.
Best on-screen characters of Pakistani dramas 2018 are all those characters which won the hearts of the viewers because they were either inspiring or easy to connect to. These characters were different, engaging as well as layered and meaningful. The way their journeys and transformations were translated on screen was also another reason why people enjoyed watching the shows they were a part of.
Here is the list of the best on-screen characters of Pakistani dramas in 2018.
Hajra (Aangan)
Hajra was the binding force of the family. She being the eldest daughter in law never really took advantage of her position. In fact, she always made sure to do the damage control as much as she could by keeping quiet or at times explaining things a bit more elaborately to subside any differences the rest of the family members might be having with each other. Hajra was wise and understanding. Yes, she did turn out to be unforgiving in regards to her son’s choices but other than that, she was the one who always took care of everyone in every situation. What made Hajra’s character even better was her human side where she didn’t hold back in sharing her frustrations too. The credit definitely goes to Irsa Ghazal for making Hajra’s character so strong and out-there with her perfect acting.
Sajjad (Aangan)
Sajjad was the best son, best husband, best brother and best father. He was the most loving person who was kind hearted, considerate, courteous and selfless when it came to his family members. Sajjad was the backbone of the family where everyone relied on him and no wonder why everyone shed tears on his death. Sajjad was a brilliantly written character and Noor ul Hassan performed it phenomenally.
Zaini (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)
Zaini’s character in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila was progressive and inspiring. Zaini’s dialogues were written brilliantly and she always served as a reality check in a house where everyone was afraid to question. Zaini was brave as well as sensitive. The reasons why she was not like Sadia and Sila were also shown in a convincing manner. Through her character, the writer showed how important it was for fathers to be there for their daughters and what a huge difference their support can make. Zaini’s positive traits were a breath of fresh air and she balanced out the negativity of the other characters. Amna Malick’s performance definitely gave this character the edge it needed.
Nadia (Dar Si Jati Hei Sila)
Nadia’s character literally turned things around in drama serial Dar Si Jati Hei Sila. Everything from her entry in the story to her exit was extremely powerful. Nadia was blunt and intelligent, her character showed that no one can dictate a person unless they are willing to be dictated. The way Nadia gave Joi and Bari Aapa both a taste of their own medicine by having her own way was amusing and pleasing to watch. This character was the most entertaining part of a serial which was meant to be more upsetting than entertaining. Nadia’s dialogues most often voiced the views of the audience which is why the viewers found her character easy to connect to. Nadia’s honesty and her intelligence was her best traits. Kiran Haq nailed this character which is why viewers looked forward to Nadia’s scenes.
Sarang (Pukaar)
Sarang was the savior in Pukaar. Even though he was brought into Sultan house for some other purpose but Sarang never let anything or anyone for that matter sway him and cloud his judgment. Sarang was the sort of person who believed in forming his own opinions and always stood by what was right without even fearing what the consequences might be. All these traits made Sarang’s character very positive and strong which was performed brilliantly by Zahid Ahmed.
Abba Jee (Aangan)
Abba Jee was the life of the show as well as the family. What made his character super amazing was the fact that he had a forgiving nature and was very understanding. Abba Jee never believed in imposing his own thoughts and opinions on others but yes, always conveyed what he thought was just and right. It was always nice to see him rationalizing his wife’s perspective and approach every time she lost a bit of direction and let suspicion cloud her opinion. Abba Jee’s dialogues and one-liners were one of the best aspects of this drama and Sir Qavi Khan did complete justice to this character.
Laila (Aangan)
Laila was the strong, opinionated character who always believed in saying what she had on her mind but always maintained that level of politeness. Laila also showed that a woman does not need a child to complete her because she in just as complete as any other woman is. Laila was strong that is why she chose to live her life on her own terms even after her world turned upside down after the husband she loved the most betrayed her. Laila definitely took her time but did not let the betrayal break her. Iffat Omar was the star of the show and gave Laila’s character the treatment it well and truly deserved.
Mumtaz Begum (Suno Chanda)
Mumtaz Begum in Suno Chanda was the most graceful yet fun female head of family we saw in our dramas this year. Usually, men are shown playing such roles in dramas or the women who run the show are most often negative. Mumtaz Begum made her decisions independently and her relationship with all her sons and daughter-in-laws was extremely amusing. She was intelligent and for a change a woman her age was shown in a different role without going overboard. Samina Ahmed is a brilliant actress therefore the fact that she played this role added to the beauty of this character.
Shahana Batool (Suno Chanda)
Shahana’s character was the most amusing character in drama serial Suno Chanda. The dialogues and her situations were written in the best way possible and the way Nadia Afghan translated it on screen made it even better. Comedy is always more fun to watch when the situations are somewhat realistic and the characters are easy to connect to. Comedy always sounds better in Punjabi too especially when the actor playing the role speaks Punjabi with such fluency. Shahana’s character made the viewers laugh their heads off and never disappointed.
Tariq (Visaal)
Tariq showed that you don’t need to rely on wits or physical strength to be able to stand firm on what you think is right and support your stance too. Tariq proved that all one needs is mental strength, determination and a whole lot of honesty to do right by someone. Tariq was the one who was burdened with a lot of favors which in the end became like shackles for him but it was amazing to see such a vulnerable human being becoming a strong pillar of support for someone who was far more miserable than he was. Nazar ul Hassan played the character of Tariq beautifully and his body language and expressions perfectly depicted Tariq’s state of mind.
Sunny (Lashkara)
Sunny was such a character that only knew how to love and be in love despite all the odds. Sunny went through a lot emotionally and his world turned upside down when the love of his life got married to someone else. Sunny went from being a harmless guy to an obsessed admirer to someone who wanted to destroy all the happiness of the one he loved but when everything changed in his lady love’s life, he redeemed himself and did everything to make sure her suffering ends. Sunny redeemed himself when he went from being a villain to a hero who fixed every single problem in his lady love’s life. Sunny’s journey was like a rollercoaster ride where at first it looked like he will never be able to come out of his obsession but later he shown mental and emotional growth of such a level that he became the savior. Imran Ashrafwas at his best in Lashkara and the ease and effortlessness with which he portrayed all the shades of Sunny’s personality and journey is commendable.
Aairah (Khudgarz)
Aairah was a strong-willed woman who only knew how to make things work and sort them out. Aairah’s job also demanded her to fix what was broken inside someone’s mind and heart and that is why she ended up becoming so emotionally attached to her husband because what she did for others was done by him for her. Aairah knew how to take a stand fof herself, she also knew how to voice her opinions too. Aairah’s character was beautifully written by Rida Bilal and performed exceptionally by Amina Sheikh.
Omar (Khudgarz)
Omar was someone who learnt from his mistakes and made sure to change the course of his life after life-changing bitter experience that he had. Omar only believed in being a good influence on others and live life selflessly because that made him peaceful and contented. The way Omar guided a lost soul like Hassan and dealt with immense patience even when Hassan tested it made Omar’s character memorable. It was a treat to see such a nice and humble character who only resonated positivity. Yasir Nawaz was a perfect choice for this character as he played it beautifully.
Junaid (Khudgarz)
A good son, a good brother, a good husband and a very kind-hearted human being, this is how Junaid’s character can be described. Junaid was burdened with the favors that were done for him by his uncle that is why he developed this forgiving nature where he let go and look past all the mistreatment that was directed at him. It was also nice to see Junaid evolving as a person and not letting his wife put up with irrational behavior. Junaid was someone who always believed in absorbing what was wrong but when it came to his wife, it was so good to see him standing by her to protect her. Syed Jibran always gives his 100% to all the characters that he plays and that is why Junaid’s character was no exception too.
Raheel (Khudgarz)
Raheel was a supporting character but he had a strong role to play in this drama. Raheel was introduced as someone who had a lot of love, respect and admiration for his colleague Abeer who he knew was a part of an abusive relationship. Raheel not only supported Abeer emotionally but stood by her through thick and thin and always protected her when he saw her past was being highlighted. It was nice to see such a supportive husband on screen who stood by his words and gave the sort of comfort and security to a vulnerable girl who had lost faith and confidence in herself. Salman Saeed played this character phenomenally and it was good to see him on-screen.
Akram (Visaal)
It won’t be wrong to say that Akram was the most unique character that we got to see this year in a Pakistani drama. Akram was a well-written, quirky and a very different character who believed in himself and was a very optimistic person but the only thing that went against him was his approach towards his motive which was wrong. Even though it was established right from the beginning of the drama that Akram was a con-man but as the viewers got to learn more about his character, they ended up having a soft corner for him as they wanted him to get exposed with things working out for him also. Even though Akram lied along the way, betrayed and fooled others too but he deemed it right because he was in love and he never once harmed anyone. Akram had leadership qualities in him as well and he was loyal to those who associated themselves with him. Akram’s character could not have been played better and the credit goes to Zahid Ahmed for a perfect portrayal.
Sajjad (Zun Mureed)
Sajjad’s character was not positive overall but it was definitely realistic and superbly etched-out. Sajjad’s character development and weaknesses are the main reason why he is in this list. His personality traits and his mindset accurately depicted the mentality of all such men who think they are superior to women solely because of their gender. Sajjad gradually realized his mistakes and decided to mend his ways for good. Through his character, the writer showed where men like him go wrong and why they had such a difficult time accepting their mistakes. The writer also showed what an important role the upbringing plays in determining what kind of a role a man will be playing in his family and the society in the future. Omair Rana translated this character impressively on screen.
Tabbasum (Zun Mureed)
Tabbasum was the main protagonist in drama serial Zun Mureed. Tabbasum was one of the most nuanced female leads we saw in dramas this year. Through this character the writer showed that a woman can compromise on anything but she should never compromise on her dignity. Tabbasum was a strong woman who had many vulnerabilities but no shortcomings. A practical, sensible and intelligent woman who tried her best to find a way out of a difficult situation, Tabbasum represented many women in our society who do everything they can to support their husbands but they don’t get due credit for it. This character was etched-out beautifully. Even though Nadia Khan’s performance was not up to the mark but Tabbasum never failed to impress.
Fari (Zun Mureed)
Fari was a sensible young woman who stood by her sister’s side right till the end and also made the viewers understand many aspects of Tabbasum’s character. Her conversations with Tabbasum were one of the best parts of the drama. Fari was focused, strong and hard working. She believed in relying on her own strengths and did not need a man to save her. A woman with a vision who managed to live her life meaningfully even with so much negativity around her – Fari was anything but a victim! Fatima Shah’s performance was pretty decent but her overdone make-up was distracting most of the times but that did not kill the beauty of this powerful character.
Safeena (Meri Gurya)
Safeena was one of the few positive female characters we saw in dramas this year. Her character was likeable as well as meaningful in many ways. Safeena was forced into a marriage but she tried to make it work after finding out that her husband was a complete misfit. A strong woman who liked fixing broken people and situations, Safeena’s character was inspiring throughout. She played a major role in figuring out that her husband was not just a misfit but he was actually a cold-blooded murderer. Safeena was always fair as well as sensitive which made her character more likable. She refused to be a victim and fought for what was right till the end. Sonya Hussyn did complete justice to this beautiful character.
Shehnaz (Meri Gurya)
Shehnaz from Meri Gurya was undoubtedly one of the best characters in Pakistani dramas this year. Shehnaz was a mother who fought a long and hard battle to get justice for her daughter as well as for so many other little girls. Shehnaz’s relationship with her daughters, her overall personality and the way her weak as well strong moments were shown made this character simply unforgettable. Sania Saeed always adds grace to such character which makes them even more appealing. Her natural acting was one of the many reasons why this character had an impact. Shehnaz’s fight for justice also gave an important message to the viewers.
Zaid (Woh Mera Dil Tha)
Zaid’s character was one of the most beautifully etched-out characters in Pakistani dramas this year. He was one such character who had so many flaws yet he never lost his appeal. The way his coming of age journey was covered made this character one which is impossible to forget. Deep down Zaid was always capable of being a wonderful human being but it took him time to discover that side of his personality. Sami Khan’s superlative performance throughout brought out the best in this character. Most people who watched this drama, tuned into it, because of Zaid.
Naina (Woh Mera Dil Tha)
Naina was another reason why viewers tuned into Woh Mera Dil Tha. She was a levelheaded and caring young woman who made the most out of the worst experiences of her life. A positive character who went through a major transformation as well as someone who learned from her mistakes, Naina’s character had a lot going for it. Naina’s circumstances for most part were terrible but she was never shown as a victim. A balanced and beautiful character which became even more pleasing to watch on screen because Madiha Imam played this role.
