Sanam Baloch Talks About Her Divorce

Mehwish Hayat – Biography, Age, Dramas, Songs, Brother

Mehwish Hayat has a class of her own. She is undoubtedly the most iconic Pakistani actress right now, who was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (the highest civilian award) for her contribution to showbiz. Mehwish Hayat has recently focused more on acting in films. She has not worked in dramas for four years now. She accepts the fact that the Pakistani drama industry has played a major role in giving her the popularity and appreciation she enjoys today. Although Mehwish Hayat could easily leave the drama industry and do films alone since she is considered the most sought-after film actress in Pakistan, she still wants to work in dramas.

Mehwish Hayat started her showbiz career at a really young age. Mehwish revealed this fact when she posted a picture of her herself when she was 6 years old clad in a beautiful Rajasthani dress. Mehwish Hayat revealed that this was her first tv commercial and she felt shy and awkward. This was when Mehwish Hayat made her first appearance as a child star. She has definitely come a long way from being an awkward and shy little girl. Mehwish Hayat, however, was always hard-working, not afraid of retakes to get the perfect shot even as a child star.

The most unforgettable experience for her came when she was 13 years old. That was the first time that her face was on the biggest billboard in Karachi, this was a big moment for her. At night she went with her family to see that billboard, all the lights were off and the guard lit them on especially for them so that they could see the billboard. Mehwish Hayat says that this was a really special moment for her, one that gives her goosebumps even now.

Mehwish Hayat has lately been really selective when choosing the projects that she works in. The reason for this is that she wants to work only in quality projects. Many of the dramas being made nowadays do not have quality content according to her. However, she does acknowledge that the fame her film Punjab Nahi Jaungi was partially because of the success of her drama Dillagi.

Apart from her acting ventures which are always the centre of attention, Mehwish Hayat is also known for taking a stand on different issues. She has often talked about why she refuses to endorse fairness creams and very often she has criticized some really high profile artists from across the border. She believes that she is in a position where her voice is heard therefore she wants to use this voice for the right causes. She even shared her disappointment with someone as iconic as Amitabh Bachan when he acted in a film which hurt the sensibilities of Pakistanis. Mehwish Hayat is a really responsible actor and expects the same kind of responsible behavior from others.

Many people might not know the fact that Mehwish Hayat was offered two Bollywood films. In one of the films, she wanted the producers to make some changes in one scene because it was too intimate for her liking. Since they refused to do so, Mehwish refused to work in the film. Mehwish Hayat believes that even though India wants Pakistani actors to work in their films, they do not give Pakistani actors the respect and position they deserve.

Mehwish Hayat Age

Mehwish Hayat was born on January 6, 1984. She is 37 years old.

Mehwish Hayat Height

Mehwish Hayat is one of the tallest actresses of the showbiz industry. She is 5 foot 7 inches tall. Her tall height definitely adds to her physical beauty. Although Mehwish Hayat believes in keeping herself looking fit and gorgeous, she also strictly believes that a woman is not defined by her physical attributes.

Mehwish Hayat Family

Mehwish Hayat’s mother Rukhsar Hayat also was part of the Pakistani television industry in the 80s. Not much is known about Mehwish Hayat’s father since she does not share a lot of details about her family in interviews. Mehwish Hayat has 2 brothers and 1 sister. Her elder brother Zeeshan Hayat is a singer and composer. Her sister also likes to sing, she is the lead vocalist in the band ‘Kaya’. Mehwish Hayat’s younger brother Danish Hayat is an actor, model, and entrepreneur.

Although all of Mehwish Hayat’s siblings in some way or the other are associated with the entertainment industry, no one made it big like her. Mehwish is really close to her family and they have at times made appearances on shows together.

Bread and Circuses

0

The phrase was originally formatted by a Roman author while deploring the declining heroism of Romans after the almighty empire ceased to exist. Consequently, the government kept the Roman populace happy by distributing free food and staging huge spectacles.

Ironically, the Pakistan Television Corporation has become somewhat an exemplification unto the phrase itself. Amidst all the glory and sanctification, the government-owned network was only a sanctuary for its performers up until they could act and continue their job as a crowd pleaser; at its end which they were disposed of and never heard from again.

The 90’s was a golden era for the PTV; spectators nationwide were increasing and growing in numbers and shows that broke all ratings, casted a popular vote from the audiences who were glued to their sets, their absences resonating a hush over the streets at night. Amongst those shows was an all-time favorite Ainak Wala Jin, which portrayed a hysterically sinister character by the name of Bil Batori, played by none other than the very talented Nusrat Ara.

Bread and Circuses

Turned 65, the actress was found begging at the shrine of Data Ali Hajveri for food and money, where after collapsing from starvation and exhaustion, she was brought to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The marvel television entertainer’s career came to an end with the termination of the show, and she was unable to locate work anywhere else.

Is it not cruel that after four decades of serving the Pakistani entertainment industry, I don’t have a roof over my head and the government is not even bothered about that? I am a proud Pakistani and don’t want to complain. But it’s about time that the government reflects upon how it’s looking after its artists and learns from what is happening around the world.” – Nusrat Ara, The Express Tribune.

Other actors like Roohi Bano and Munna Lahori were found in similar situations after facing the aftermath of acute poverty, having no jobs as a straw to grasp at.

It is grimly unfortunate how we as a nation who consistently bewails and laments over the lack of national assets, are resultantly the reason behind their depreciation and downfall for we fail to value and support them as required.

Perhaps on account of the uproar and media exposure created by the discovery of these thespians, the Punjab government finally announced the launch of ‘Artist Khidmat Card Scheme’ on the 23rd of March, 2017 where an allotted amount of funds would transferred to the accounts of a group of notable artists (if they fit the bill of a set criteria) every month.

But the debate remains as to whether the card fulfills the idea of corporate social responsibility. Increasing privatization has resulted in a record number of productions starring Pakistanis in documentaries, television serials and movies. The concept of patronage can either attract or repel people from the entertainment industry, since it can often be followed by inefficiency, as well as the test of time as opposed to competition.

Although the scheme is underway as a work in progress, it is hoped that unlike the many previously run strategies, it turns out to be successful and beneficial. Pakistan is already a victim to several financial constraints and corruption, where a budget cut in nearly every sector has become a norm practiced annually. The label of doubt has already been attached over the maintenance of the programme by the government and its continuation at all in the future or at the very least, with the current allocated money.

Moreover, the government has asked artists to step forward and apply for the card online as means of financial assistance but there may be several such people who are unsound of mind or health or void of any technical resource availability to be able to this. Similarly, the scheme only covers citizens possessing Punjab domicile which seems to be an unfair distinction. This brings us to another ruthless prospect which indicates that the Pakistani government has a very poor track record of the identification of our artists.

Sadequain’s Crucifixion for a World Record Price

Sadequain Naqqash was a world-renowned Pakistani artist and, is yet to date, considered as one of the finest painters and calligraphers the country has ever produced. He has previously been awarded with the title of  Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz from the government.

Yesterday, 30 years after the death of this prized asset, the artist acquired yet another milestone career achievement posthumously. His artwork titled ‘Crucifixion’ was offered a remarkable bidding price of £118,750 (about 16 million Pakistani rupees) against an estimate of £60,000-90,000 by an anonymous bidder at Bonhams, an international auction house. The event was solely held to celebrate and acknowledge the brilliance of Pakistani art, where the sales comprised of works belonging to the country’s some 21 choice artists including, Ustad Allah Bux, Eqbal Mehdi, A.Q. Arif, Abdur Rahman Chughtai, Waseem Ahmed, Shazia Sikander, and many more

Sadequain's Crucifixion for a World Record Price
Sadequain Naqqash’s Crucifixion

Tahmina Ghaffar, Bonhams Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art Specialist, on record with Geo News sang praises for the event’s success: “As proud supporters of Pakistani art for numerous years, Bonhams is delighted with the results achieved at our first Art of Pakistan sale. The enthusiastic bidding in the room, on the phone and online for the top lots demonstrates the increasing demand for, and recognition of, Pakistani art by serious collectors.

Pakistani heritage is far reaching and untethered. Conceived as a country of refuge and sanctuary, with new residents came new languages, foods and customs. Pakistan’s art is complex and challenging and the country has carved its own artistic identity.”

There remains a void in Pakistan to value artists and their work. The government should set aside a budgetary allocation that would fund the exposure of arts in the country.

“It’s a very interesting story,” Ahmed told Instep. “It tells the story of a man who belongs to the lower strata of society and wishes to settle in the West through whatever means he can. But once he makes it to the West, life isn’t as smooth as he thought it would be. From there on, the narrative takes an interesting turn as he is forced to do things that he doesn’t want to.”

KIFF : Taking Cinema to the Next Level?

KIFF : Taking Cinema to the Next Level?

The Pakistan Cinematic Industry has been soaring new heights, and gaining the appreciation of audiences, not just locally, but worldwide as well. Our filmmakers and actors have acquired admiration globally and are continuing to awe viewers with increasingly innovative projects.

Since 2008, Little Art annually celebrates the Lahore International Children’s Film Festival, where youngsters from all age groups, residing in both rural and urban areas, are encouraged to showcase their short films in a healthy competition, promoting the nation’s culture, values and creating awareness of the social conflicts.

Up until recently, there has been little affiliation and help from the government to assist people in the aforementioned industry, and there is a lack of awareness among the country dwellers to recognize the work or pay their respect. For example, two-years-in-a-row Oscar winner Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy, was only able to have her documentaries acknowledged famously in Pakistan, once she had obtained the golden statue figure. Featured films are privately sponsored and funded by firms and channels to be advertised and played in cinemas internationally. Rarely films from other countries (with the exception of productions of Bollywood and Hollywood) are played in cinemas of Pakistan.

Therefore, the Government of Pakistan has now taken the initiative one step further, and  introduced the addition of the Karachi International Film Festival, which will commence its very first session in the year 2018, from the 1st – 4th of February.

In a recent meeting of the Karachi Film Society, at the Governor’s house, where the attendance also included Sultana Siddiqui, Jameel Baig, Dr. Ishrat Hussain, Shermeen Obaid Chinoy, Ameena Siyid, Sirajuddin, and Khalid Mansoor; Muhammad Zubair was highly enthusiastic about the event saying it would revolutionize the era of film industry and revive it from the depths of the problematic issues that merely prevent it from emerging to its maximum capability.

A two-day seminar was arranged in the Governor House so as to formulate a film policy. It was regarded as a success and is hoped to help favor the industry in the long run.
The festival would be a four-day event, where the citizens of Karachi would be allowed access as being the audience to several movies on numerous topics that surface the globe. Also, the government hopes that holding such an occurrence would not only promote the country’s value internationally but also would act as an outlet to portray its better side to the world and develop its image in a positive way.

Moreover, with the increasing number of students that now uptake the courses of film and media as a prospect of their future careers, it is now vital that the country is able to provide them with a substantial platform where they can learn, showcase and work towards a recognized benchmark that can act as a bridge of communication to entertainment industries abroad. KIFF can play the role of a hub where the gathering of preeminent directors, writers, actors, not necessarily from Pakistan, are able to pass on their experience and knowledge profoundly.

Simultaneously, films being made abroad would also have a bigger stage to present their movies and projects to a huge target audience, familiarizing them as well as us with the potential markets of the entertainment industry.
Occasions like these, are also a way of enhancing the unity and bond between the people where they can finally set aside the various distinctions that exist between cultures, religions and practices so as to reconcile the differences to administer peace and tranquility.

The function would also endorse the distribution of ideas so as to facilitate learning as well.

Accordingly, there have been few significant instances where the legendary and famous participants of the film and cinematic industry have been given their deserved fame and glowing tribute. If this is done so, it would motivate and urge the newcomers and pre-existing members to pave way to success with increasing hard work and determination.

The Film Festival would be staged in collaboration with the many cinemas that house maximum amount of people stationed across the city such as Sea View, Nueplex, etc, where films (short and featured) as well as documentaries would be screened from countries worldwide.

In the light of events that this Festival is administered triumphantly, it would prove to be an enormous breakthrough that would reap Pakistan several benefits both economically as well as socially, and embark an exciting journey for the young filmmakers-to-be; where in the future it would be looked back upon as one of the most memorable and outstanding proposition up taken by the current government and enabled the beginning of a new dawn with broadened horizons and fresh opportunities.

People Are Trolling Wasim Akram & Shoaib Akhtar & The Reason Is Hilarious

There’s a new trend on the Internet and it’s called “Cringe Videos”. Over the years, many men and women have stepped up to try and take over the mantle of the cringe videos.

The latest ones to follow the trend are former Pakistani players Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar. The duo are appearing in cringe promos to promote their show Geo Khelo Pakistan and their art of work is not limited to the internet, but goes wide to the audience of National TV and the ad is absolutely hilarious.

This might be one of a few things where Pakistanis and Indian’s share same opinion. The advertisement is surely being butchered by the public.

Pakistani game shows — the reality

0

The trend set by one of the Ramazan transmissions has evolved into being one of the most popular programs on television. Be it Amir Liaqat, Fahad Mustafa, Fiza Ali, there is a whole series of such shows on almost every channel. Entertaining, aren’t they? However they are a question mark on not  just media trends but also on ethical values as well as what do they portray about us as a nation. ‘Inam’ or prize seems such an appealing word , one to which we are instantly drawn. Game shows offer a so many of these-cars, bikes, gold, electronics and name anything. But have we thought about the deeper context of these shows. Apparently, no.

Here’s a simple question. Why do we like these shows? A spectrum of reasons may include that they offer relief, they are entertaining and above all, they are source of receiving gifts that normally would not have been possible. Isn’t it? Now let’s look at what happens in a game show. Games that seem so interesting , questions, dancing and all that pleases the audiences. But we haven’t noticed how absurd these games can be, how humiliating host’s attitude can be towards common people and how offensive the jokes can be. For e.g. in a certain game show where older men are invited to dance indeed is insulting in the sense that people who don’t know how to dance are made fun of and laughed at for their poor dancing skills. Other than this, there are a number of games that make no point and yet are played still like eating a whole cake in a minute. Al the while, offensive remarks is also made at the people present. Typical jokes such as how husbands suffer at their wives’ hands are repeated.

What’s worse still is how people beg for prizes. We all have seen women being stubborn to have a bike for their sons, people asking for Umrah tickets and the list goes on. The case in point is higher ratings in whose seek, moral limits are crossed. These shows are substantiating people’s desperateness and exploiting their needs. This explains why people would do anything just to get a bike.

Pakistani game shows --- the reality

Therefore, these game shows put our morality as well as priorities to question as to why we are so intimidated by a mere prize? Have we lost any sense of sanity that we’ll eat to the most in a minute without a thought and then have gastric problems?  Why do we put everything behind just to win a prize? It is time for us to think if we’re heading on the right track and for the media to understand that such vulnerable methods do get a higher rating but undermine many important factors including audience’s self respect and esteem

Assuming that you could consume greatest number for gulab jamun to least could reasonably be expected time, cycling for your wives sitting behind you, move such as crazy, or ball juggling after that you are qualified will win An engine bicycle. fantastic isn’t  it? We dwell to a culture loaded for people searching for short cuts to get  rich. Now this is a disturbing pattern.

Seeing this present diversion, the inquiry arises; the thing that is behind these shows? This makes us get  the reason these channels would something like that energetic will provide 800CC cars, engine bikes, jewel rings or Indeed BABIES? Yes! you listened it correct! Amir Liaquat Hussain done as much past demonstrate “Amman Ramzan” offered as far as babies to childless couples in the crowd.

Pakistani game shows --- the reality

May be that a publicity stunt for TRPs or was he truly intrigued by serving the people? Furthermore actually jokes indicate the ailing mindset.

Carrying on with game shows may be a stunning ticket on part of onlookers for enthusiastic exercises.  Rating may be not all that. Ethical values Furthermore morals ought not a chance to be missed!

Vivek Oberoi as mesmerised by Muniba Mazari as the rest of us !!

Indian actor Vivek Oberoi has recently met Muniba Mazari in Malaysia and his smiles and excitement show that she has enchanted him as much as she does the rest of us with her smile as wide as the day and her heart as big as the oceans.

Vivek Oberoi as mesmerised by Muniba Mazari as the rest of us !!

While you would never wish that fate upon anyone, it’s not easy being unimpressed by the life she has been leading after the tragic accident that left her paraplegic. If you could describe her persona in one word, it would be hope, and we are not the only ones who have had our days brightened by her. Vivek Oberoi is also all smiles around her. They have a lot in common, least of all the will to make this world a better place for the underprivileged.

They met cancer patients in Malaysia and raised money for their respective charities and spent some very happy moments together. And it makes us so very happy as well that he met the one person from Pakistan, whom we all are so unanimously proud of.

Why support Pakistani cinema?

0

Quite often, nowadays have we been called to support Pakistani cinema. The apparent reasons told are that our film industry is going through a major evolution. So as Pakistanis, it falls on us to support our industry. So far so good? But I wonder why we should? What necessitates supporting it? I for instance, am still not certain. It was a conversation with a friend that urged me to consider the need of being in favor of Pakistani films that are the cinema version of Pakistani dramas, more or less. It was stated that given the industry’s limited resources which includes writers, actors, directors and an overall shortage of filmmakers and related staff hinders the production of films comparable to those produced in our neighboring country. It is vital, though that we should judge our films irrespective of any comparison drawn to Indian films. It is in this sense only that the credibility of Pakistani films could be made visible.

It is true that Pakistani cinema has undergone commendable changes so much so that it is considered to have risen again from the ashes. We have witnessed a major breakthrough in recent years. Pakistan is now producing films one after another and what is notable is the fact that we have conformed to global filmmaking standards. This explains why this era is different from the one when we saw bulky Punjabi heroines on screens. Film industry has emerged with great improvements not just in visualization but content wise too. But I feel that this revival is merely partial and not enough.

Films like Mah-e-Meer, Moor and Manto and he likes of them speak for themselves. They not only hit the local scales but also stood out internationally. What made them a success was genius and uniqueness of subjects as well as specialization of factors that are common to cinematic demands; cinematography, music, effects and quality of lights and sound. So far, I would be glad to support Pakistani cinema as long as it produced such films.

However, the revival saw a phase of rapid film making, owing to an increase in demand. This quick series gave us films like Jawani Phir Nhi Aani, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, Balu Mahi, Wrong No. etc. it is in regard to such films that this article refers to. For example Jawani Phir Nhi Aani is rather a combo of jokes but that’s it. I had been exceedingly dismayed by the worth of what was called a blockbuster film. I found it extremely typical, lacking good content and essentially cohesion and was without much cause and effect. Similarly, we can name numerous films that exist without an effective screenplay or script. The music as well is forgettable. I am bound to question myself whether it’s important enough for me to spend my time and money to view films that are not going to have some influence and consequence.

The accomplishment of any form of arts, whether performing such as films, theatre or plays, writing and music is to administer long lasting impression on the audience and better still, leave them pondering. Unfortunately, Pakistani films fail to do so. One is in doubt about the purpose of these films, for e.g. Bin Roye which was later turned into a drama or Raasta. Like, what was the need? There is lack of diversification of artists who could be instrumental in bringing about better amendments. Obviously it is needful that we see not the same faces that make up dramas also on silver screen. But rather one sees Javed Shiekh in almost every other film. Speaking particularly about what the films are actually about is discouraging further. For example, Wrong Number was utterly romantic and totally uprooted from reality. Are we still lagging behind in broadness of themes? The areas under discussion are awfully confined to usual topics. Thought is not given to creation of varied fields in film itself such as short film, documentary and biopic.

It can be said that though they may seem entertaining but such entertainment is short lived and cannot   be classified as transitional or steering. There is a long way to go before they can say that Pakistani cinema has fully revitalized. If more concrete steps are not taken then it is very possible that this new found stimulus may lose intuition and meet the same fate as it had for previous many years. Without further progress in the right direction, filmmaking is bound to short fall of further development. It is the duty of the industry to give us praiseworthy content so that we can rightfully support Pakistani cinema, otherwise the reasons would be not agreeable enough. Isn’t it?

Mubarak ho Beti hui hai Episode 1-8

Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hai is an ARY digital drama, of which 8 episodes have been aired. The drama deals with age old facade of preferring sons over daughters and treating women as if they have a role in selecting the gender of their baby. The issue is probably as old as mankind itself and recently, there has been so much awareness surrounding it that people are not very vocal anymore in showing their displeasure at the birth of female child. Nonetheless, there are still some socioeconomic classes where they perceive a male offspring as the guarantee of ultimate success and security in life. This drama deals with this dilemma in its ugliest form, which is kind of understandable because a certain amount of dramatization and exaggeration is required to keep viewers glued.

The plot, superficially is just about the hardships a woman faces when she gives birth ma to unwanted daughters and her sheer grit to do everything in her power to improve the their lifestyle. But, on a deeper inspection, you will see many subtle messages and ideas that keep you engrossed. Its about intensively cunning women, who are other women’s worst enemy. No man is able to destroy a woman until another woman aids him in doing so is the repeatedly emerging idea of this play. There are women who lie and steal and cheat to get their way and  then their is this mother who not only struggles for the basic needs of her daughters but with her limited education and resources, fights tooth and nail for their self respect and dignity. There are spineless men like her husband and her own brother who lack any kind of ability to view situations through their own eyes and analyse them in their own minds. If our society is on a moral and ethical downfall, it is due to such men and this fact is depicted accurately in this play.

As far as acting is concerned, Sajid Hasan is phenomenal as the clueless, illiterate and opportunistic Sadiq whose mother has infused in him the faith that his eternal happiness lies in the birth of a male offspring. The full brunt of this mentality is borne by his first wife Naheed and his four daughters. At the birth of their fourth daughter, his mother marries him to his widowed sister in law who already has two sons with Sadiq’s late brother ; hence proved that she is hard wired to manufacture sons.

This marriage starts a series of hardships for Naheed and her daughters, one of which is the diagnosis that the youngest born had contracted polio because she was not immunised on time. The mistreatment that she faces at the hands of Sadiq and his wife forced Naheed to go to her brother’s place, where she is once again disappointed by the second responsible male figure in her life. His wife is even worse than Sadiq’s new wife and Naheed and his daughters are once again on the road with no destination in sight.

The lead protagonist Naheed is played by Saima Noor. Her acting and persona are sometimes too over the top but I’m so in love with this character, who despite facing so much agony due to her daughters, never once mistreats them. She never takes out her frustration on them and never makes them feel bad for coming into her life. Rather she treats her unwanted and unloved daughters as her very own princesses. So, no matter where Saima falls short in acting, the screen space given to her character is like the light of love among all other dark and evil characters. That makes her flawless in my eyes in this drama.

Sabreen Baloch and Naheed Shabbir are doing well in their despicable characters… you can’t decide whom to hate more. Ayesha Khan is Sadiq’s mom and she is showing signs of a guilty conscience at what she has done with Sadiq’s first wife.

The latest episode was full of tragedy as Naheed eventually realises that her brother is as useless to her as her husband and she can only count on herself in this world. But the next one made me hopeful of the arrival of karma in this play as Sadiq and Aleena’s first son is diagnosed as abnormal by doctor. How they take to this news and what other blows of karma are in store for them remains to be viewed.

Stay tuned and we will discuss it on next Wednesday again.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 07 Review – Intense & Convincing!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was intense & I actually liked how it got a little slow by the end, like it was needed to calm things down especially after showing so much in both Zubiya & Noori’s tracks. I must say the attention to detail in this drama is commendable, like in every other scene there are very little things that add more realism & depth to the situation, which I actually enjoy watching, as it shows how much effort and hard work the director as well as the actors put in to make this show what it is today.

So, just because Rameez grew a little impatient, he ended up revealing his true face to Zubiya. I am glad that at that moment Zubiya understood everything & took an immediate action by choosing not to fall prey to more of Rameez’s lies. I liked how casually both Zubiya & Asfand crossed paths with each other, even though the situation was unfortunate but their interaction seemed totally convincing. Zubiya was definitely lucky that she not only succeeded in saving herself but also found someone who stopped Rameez from chasing her. I think all the things that those people who gathered around said made a lot of sense because this is how usually such boys and girls are perceived who are found in such a scenario. Yes, people are a bit quick to judge but then again, the fact still remains that Zubiya went to Rameez’s place by her own will. Yes, Zubiya’s intentions were pure as she wanted to get married to him but she is also guilty of crossing the boundary of her home & forsaking her family’s reputation.

Even though I feel for Zubiya a lot especially how I know about her background & the emotional trauma that she went through but the treatment that she got after returning to her home was also realistic because this is exactly how such girls are treated who are caught after being involved with someone. I always had a feeling that Rehan will turn against Zubiya & I always thought that Sheema will brain feed him, yes Sheema has played a major part in what has happened but then at this stage Zubiya is guilty too & she herself has done such a thing that no one will forgive her for. It is unfortunate but it is the truth that no one in such circumstances try to get into the girl’s head to understand why she took such a step & what pushed her to do such stuff, like in this case Rehan or even Khalil didn’t even think much about what they might’ve done wrong or where they must’ve shown the negligence for Zubiya to find comfort in a stranger. Asfand stumbling upon Zubiya’s Student ID & Zubiya’s swollen face suggesting that she got brutally hit by Rehan were a few little details that I found quite convincing. Asfand just picked her Student’s ID up but I am sure this will bring him to her in the future, how, I am definitely looking forward to that!

So, finally Jahangir & two of his friends were arrested & were made to appear in the court. For the first time we got to see the difference in the ideologies of both Usman & Daniyal. Even though Usman has made a name for himself in this field & he is considered to be one of the most well-reputed lawyers in the country, but the way he showed signs of distress & disapproved Daniyal’s choices suggested that he has earned this spot by playing it safe, whereas Daniyal is not only enthusiastic to bring a change but wants to help people as much as he can even if it means putting himself in danger. Where Usman believes in putting his safety & comfort first, Daniyal believes in taking bigger risks to reap bigger rewards. This showed the first clash that both the father & the son being lawyers had but I am sure Daniyal is someone who will stick to his decision. It was good to see Daniyal getting a support of his wife Gaiti because she knows what this means to Daniyal & how much he wants to help Noori out but it was also quite sweet of her to remind him that he should be mindful of his safety as well because she knows how things work especially in the matters or cases that involve powerful & resourceful politicians.

I liked the fact that they showed us the true face of media in this episode too. It just took one false statement of the lawyer to convince the news reporter that may be Noori was at fault & this entire case was staged to bring Jahangir or Rab Nawaz down. Very conveniently Rab Nawaz’s lawyer put the entire blame on the opposition party saying they are trying to frame Rab Nawaz & his family, which actually seemed to spark the interest of the news reporter. The way the reporter turned lawyer’s allegation into a question for Noori showed how for them ratings matter the most & they don’t really believe in ethics, morals or have any sense of right or wrong!

I liked how Daniyal’s little act of kindness where he brought books for Noori put her in such a good mood. It showed that it takes a very small gesture to show someone the right path & help someone in finding a direction in life. Noori seemed quite touched by Daniyal’s faith in her where he told her to pursue her education, it showed how victims of these atrocities can be & should be treated, with utmost respect and also how they need people around them who can put their trust in them & give them the confidence to come out of the dark past. For the first time Noori was seen thinking about herself & her future, which happened after Daniyal showed her the right direction. As usual, Rab Nawaz resorted to the cheap tactics of threatening Noori’s family, even though I felt bad for Noori’s mother & siblings, I didn’t feel anything for her father Lateef because this served him right. Lateef thought that just by estranging Noori, he will be able to get away from every responsibility of being her father but it showed him that no matter what he’ll do, it will still haunt him. I hope Bilal contacts Daniyal & tells him how Rab Nawaz’s goons threatened his entire family & how they shifted to a new place.

So, Khalil finally got a much awaited reality check, even though I feel bad that it is Zubiya who has become a reason behind it but still, he needed this. For the first time in life Khalil was at a loss of words because he realized how easy it was to spew venom against others’ daughters but when it came to him, his hands were tied & so was his tongue. Where did that Khalil go who claimed that he would either kill himself or his daughter if she’d do something like that? It showed how weak he was & how his weakness was haunting him because despite wanting to, he was unable to do anything. It wasn’t like Zubiya didn’t return home, she did & she was right there sitting under his roof but Khalil chose to isolate himself & reflect on all of his past mistakes. Another detail which I picked was how Khalil was eating the same breakfast in the flashback scene, like they have shown some consistency in both his attitude & his lifestyle. Khalil was reminded of how he took advantage of his wife’s helplessness & her weakness where she couldn’t leave him because of their kids but now, nothing can be undone & this is his punishment. It was actually quite surprising how right in front of Khalil, Sheema was speaking to every other relative on the phone giving them details about Zubiya but Khalil couldn’t say a word as he was too pre-occupied with his own thoughts. This was the same Khalil who told everyone to keep their tongues tied when it came to his wife’s death but now he had no control over what was happening around him because he himself was feeling defeated. Another little detail that I noticed & enjoyed in the background was Sheema’s expressions, like she was enjoying seeing the suffering of her father in law because she was getting her revenge & also how she got a little restless when her husband Rehan said he will leave this house, like this is something that she doesn’t even want to think about so the sudden change in her expression was perfect!

Overall, this episode was quite intense & was directed perfectly. All the actors added a lot of depth in all the situation, be it Rameez & his portrayal of sick intentions or Sheema, who was finding peace in the suffering of her father in law, or Zubiya who was shook to no end or Noori who was finding it hard to stay strong, all the actors have done a commendable job & deserve a lot of praises for acting their characters to perfection. Even though Ehtashamuddin didn’t have much dialogues but the way he portrayed Khalil’s suffering that too in silence was phenomenal, like just by looking at him & his body language you could see the storm that was brewing in his heart, mind & soul, it was amazing. I love the soundtrack that they have used in the intense situations, I just find it daunting but in a very nice way, if that makes sense, lol. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode & the preview seems interesting. I like how Noori’s track is panning out but at this point I am more interested in Zubiya’s track. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Pakistan once again mourned the loss of Junaid Jamshed as the holy month of Ramadan began. For many this was the first Ramadan without the ‘Dil Dil Pakistan‘ singer turned televangelist and it hit very close to home for Waseem Badami and Iqrar Ul Hassan, the latter being a very close companion of the late Junaid Jamshed. The segment started with a request for the crowd to stand and clap in memory of the late singer and though Iqrar Ul Hassan is talking, Waseem can clearly be seen trying to hold back tears and compose himself. However both break down completely when Junaid’s brother, Humayun takes the stage. Watch the heart touching video:

Be that as it may, things took a repulsive turn in September a year ago when the Mumbai-based political gathering, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) debilitated every Pakistani craftsman working in India to leave the nation to challenge the Uri assaults. Fawad Khan was to advance Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil around then, which he proved unable. While Fawad Khan kept up a noble quiet all through, on October 7, he posted a message on his Facebook page expressing that he went home as his better half, Sadaf, was pregnant.

“I’m not a man of steel in that individuals’ words don’t influence me. They may hurt me. In any case, I am getting to be resistant to it as time passes by. I have no desires from them, and that is the thing that I think has built up this fellowship. Regardless of whether I don’t work with them until kingdom come, I’ll still dependably have love and respect for them, and I expect that is the means by which they feel too. That is for what reason we’re still in contact. We even make arrangements to meet, to get up to speed.”

He additionally said that right now, the most imperative thing in his life was his little girl. “We’ve quite recently had a child and she took up a large portion of my opportunity, and I’m at long last getting the chance to invest quality energy with my family.”

Be that as it may, resembles the on-screen character is good to go to stamp his introduction in Hollywood! ‘Thora Jee Le’ chief Rafay Rashdi would like to cast Fawad Khan in kill secret a well-known Indian film commentator and amusement columnist, Rajeev Masand said that the on-screen character is at present searching for circumstances in Hollywood. The Khaadi controversy!

One of the largest brands of Pakistan is in news these days for all the wrong reasons. The brand has been accused of mistreating their employees. Allegedly Khaadi has sacked scores of workers while they officially promised not to do so. A female workers has also been alleged to attempt suicide as she was penalised severely for taking a lunch break.

The Khaadi controversy!

It has also been alleged that a skilled worker is paid just 13000 rupees while according to the standard set by government the minimum salary given to an unskilled worker should be 14000. Khaadi has just denied all these claims and labelled the allegations as a “conspiracy” against them. Khaadi issued the following statement on these claims:

Khaadi has viewed with concern the discussion on social media in recent days emanating from certain false news that have been spread and which seek to damage our reputation. Initially, our viewpoint was not to respond to what is nothing but malicious and libelous content, but we now feel we owe it to our patrons to clarify the matter. We therefore categorically confirm that Khaadi has NOT terminated 32 of its employees.

Another malicious story being spread and linked to the above is of the apparent attempted suicide of a young female worker. Why anyone should spread this outright lie is beyond understanding, but this just goes to show how some vested interests will stop at nothing to premeditatedly plan to try and cause reputational harm to Khaadi, and we intend to get to the bottom of this conspiracy.

Khaadi is a responsible corporate citizen. As a brand, we have endeavoured to maintain and adhere to the highest standards in all operations-which also includes following best practices with regard to our biggest assets, our employees. Our products are sourced through an array of third party suppliers. Khaadi has always endeavoured to promote our culture and heritage, and promote a positive image of Pakistan internationally, and will continue to do so.

Finally, we appeal to all to please do not share or spread news that is pure hearsay, or base your comments on speculative news, no matter shared by who, without fully knowing the facts yourself. We request this not only in the case of Khaadi, but as a general principle of social media engagement, as false rumours tend to escalate and can be quite damaging for others, whether it be brands or innocent people.

The Khaadi controversy!

Whether Khaadi is speaking the truth or not the law will decide as workers have filed complaints against them!
