Pakistan to Hoist World’s Eighth Largest Flag at Wagah Border!
The Wagah border came into existence at the time of Pakistan’s Independence and partition. Pakistan became a new nation and Wagah, a small village found itself on the world map for its famous ceremonial border between India and Pakistan. It is also referred to as the Berlin wall of Asia and has an iconic, political, and historical importance. The most interesting thing about this border is the flag lowering ceremony that is held everyday at dusk. It attracts thousands of people from both sides of the border and foreigners as well.
Pakistan is set to hoist the eighth largest flag of the world at Wagah border as reported by a local news channel.
This flag is to be installed in the in the park adjacent to the Wagah border The dimensions of the flag would be 400 feet high and 120 feet wide.
This flag will play an essential role in boosting the spirits of the Pakistani that visit the border for the parade.India and Pakistan are known as arch rivals and Wagha is the place where the show of passion and power takes place from the side of the patriotic citizens of both the countries.
According to the PIA assistant director , the machinery is at work to remove the trees from the place where the flag is planned to be erected.

Two years back, Syed Muhammad Umar, a Quetta-based singer acknowledged his passion for music and following his dreams, started making music.
This guy took music very seriously and before starting taking music as a profession, about five years back, had Ustaad Abdul Rauf at Alhamra Arts Council as his mentor to hone his skills. His passion, dedication and love for music took him all around the country to properly learn the craft.
“It was a bit difficult to continue making music in Quetta, hence I decided to come to Lahore to learn the craft properly,” he said while talking to ‘Pakistan today’.
Sajjad Tafu thought him how to play guitar and Ustaad G and Ustaad Habib ur Rehman Khan Sahab have also been his teachers.
“We’ve just dabbled in covers thus far, but we’re currently working on a couple of originals as well, which we will release in a month or two,” he said.
His tribute to Farida Khanum with an instrumental cover of her hit song, “Aaj Jaanay ki zid na karo’ is what caught our and social media’s attention.
Umar commented ,“Aaj Jannay ki zidd karo comes from the love I have for Pakistani/Eastern music and especially Farida Jee, who was one of the finest gems in the Industry”.
“I really love playing the guitar and I thought that it’d be just the perfect way to pay her a tribute,” he added.

Who rules the music scene in Pakistan. Yes you guessed it right: Coke Studio. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Coke Studio has become a culture. They rightly call themselves Sound Of The Nation. News is Coke Studio 10 is on the cards now and it will again be produced by Strings.
Salman Ahmed, Sajjad Ali, Mekaal Hasan, Ali Hamza (as solo artist), Sahir Ali Bagga and Strings will the producers for this year. Each producer will produce a tribute song in his set. Faiz Ahmed Faiz will be paid tribute in the form of Bol Kay Lab Azaad Hain ft Shafqat Amanat Ali while Dum Mast Qalandar ft Umair Jaswal and a Qawwal party will be one to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Sehwan Sharif. Ali Sethi will do Ranjish hi Sahi in the memory of Mehdi Hassan Sahab and Ali Zafar, Ali Hamza and Strings will do Uss Rah Parr remembering the beloved Junaid Jamshed. Daniyal Zafar will play guitar in one of Ali Zafar’s song making the first appearance together of two brothers on television. Junoon Reunion is not happening now since things didn’t work out between Ali Azmat and Salman Haider.

Rabi Pirzada gained popularity in Pakistani Entertainment Industry due to her acting and singing. She has come a long way to where she is now and these days she is all set to debut in an English film!
Talking to a local TV channel, the actress said that the movie is being produced for international film festivals and will be on display across the world. She further said that she is honored to perform on such a great and well-recognized platform.

Shahid Afridi On A Fund Raising Mission In UK

Shoaib Malik Announces his Retirement Plans
Shoaib Malik is a very well known personality of Pakistan. He is a the guy who was brought into the Pakistani fold as a bowler, only to later realize his batting potential. Despite his not so commendable performances in the recent matches, he still is considered as one of Pakistan’s best players because of his amazing past performances. Let’s also not forget that he is the man responsible for making Sania Mirza, India’s tennis star, our bhabi.
Recently, Pakistan cricket team’s former skipper, talked about his plans to retire. The veteran batsman announced that he has no plans to retire before the 2020 World Cup Series.
The 35-year-old was part of Pakistan’s Champions Trophy triumph last month, and now he’s after a hat-trick of global silverware having won the World T20 in 2009. He can be called the good luck charm for Pakistan!
“My ambition is to become the first Pakistani player to have featured in teams that have won three ICC events,” he said in an interview.
The former captain said his ambition though depend on form and fitness.
“Everything will depend on how much I can continue contributing to the team as a senior player. I myself would not like to remain part of the national team if I feel I am becoming a burden. I will retire. But right now after winning the Champions Trophy I am very optimistic we can win the next World Cup in England,” he further explained.
The happy man said that winning the Champions Trophy was one of his career highlights.
“But winning the Champions Trophy is certainly one of the most memorable moments of my career. I am fortunate to have also been part of the team that won the World T20 in 2009 in England.”

who was he before he came on TV
As the son of a banker, and an IBA graduate, he followed the footsteps of his father and bagged a well paying full time in an advertising agency.
What brought him to showbiz
He was aware of his good looks and sometimes dreamt of appearing in front of the camera, but he had never envisioned himself where he is today. Once, he saw Taiuseef Gillani geared up for a photoshoot and that really made him think about entering showbiz himself. Then he accompanied a very good looking friend of his to modelling shoot and got a chance himself. And that is how it went onwards and upwards.
What he thinks of his acting in Aroosa
Aroosa was the first time, he appeared as Shehryar on the National Television. Retrospectively, he thinks he was an amateur then and his performance was not great. Yet he is thankful it got him the recognition it did.
Did he have family support when he started acting
He thinks he has been blessed because even though his father always took pride in a steady 9 to 5 job, he was very supportive of Adnan when he left his job to enter into this profession. In fact, he was the who encouraged him to ace the field and not just settle for mediocrity. But, he will always regret his mother not being in this world to see the heights of success and popularity he has reached. He always misses her on every occasion and especially on those that would have made her proud of him.
How is Adnan Siddiqui as a father
Despite growing up in the presence of a strict father, he is very friendly with his kids himself. He believes in providing them a nourishing environment where they can cry, laugh and be themselves without fear of judgement. He calls his children Maryam Jan, Dania Jania and Zayed Sahab and tries to fill their days with love and laughter.
What is his take on working in India
He believes in the liberty of an artist to be able to spread his art as far as he likes to and choose any project that he wants to, but at the same time, you cannot forget that wherever you go, you are an ambassador to your country and are going to represent your nation. So, you have to be careful in creating a positive outlook about your roots in foreign lands.
how he thinks he will fare in Indian cinema
He does not think , even for a moment, that he will be able to Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan or Amir Khan’s place. Rather, he aspires to be at par with actors like Naseer ud Din Shah and Manoj Bajpai. And he was surprised to know that he already had a fan base in India and people were recognising him on the streets.
What are his secrets of success
He believes he happened to be here by luck only but the name he has made for himself is only because of sheer amount of hardwork. He tries to be the best at everything he does. In his words, “when I enter a room, I claim it”.

Agha wanted to become a PhD doctor but the circumstances at his home didn’t allow him to pursue that degree and he joined showbiz right after completing his graduation.
In addition, Agha was badly effected by skin disease ”Psoriasis” a skin disease marked by red, itchy, scaly patches.he is survived from this dangerous disease skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. After a treatment of some years, the annoyance and discomfort, he finally recovered.
3.Neelum Munir
Neelum Munir had joined showbiz to support her family. Growing up, her father wasn’t available to provide her family with monetary support.She didn’t have any brother either so this bold girl of district Swabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa took matters into her own hand and support her mother and her 2 sisters by working in showbiz. She was one of the youngest stars to enter in showbiz.
4.Mahira Khan
Now that is a million dollar smile. Yes, we are talking about the gorgeous Mahira Khan, the lovely actress who has been ruling the hearts of Pakistanis since her hit drama “Humsafar”. To say Mahira joined showbiz because of poverty is wrong but she did have a very struggling life when she lived in America to study as an undergraduate at the University of Southern California .She worked as a store keeper, washed washrooms and did some other odd jobs to support her expenditures. After so many years of constant struggles, she is now one of the biggest names of our Entertainment Industry as well as one of the highest paid actresses.
5.Hina Dilpazeer
Hina Dilpazeer, the reason to bring smile on millions of faces by her superb acting in comedic dramas, had to face a lot of family problems before joining showbiz and gaining fame. Her life was fine, until one night, out of pure anger, her husband divorced her providing her with next to nothing to support herself. She was pretty young when this incident happened.She got very awful, cheap and low level roles when she started her career as an actress, but she accepted those roles for the sake of earning money. She rose to fame with her Momo character in comedy drama serial ‘Bulbulay’.
6.Faisal Qureshi
This veteran actor struggled a lot before becoming famous. His father died when Faisal was too young and there was no one is his family to support him. He joined the showbiz industry and first few years were very challenging for him. He tried his luck in Pakistani films first but didn’t receive much success there so he tried his luck on television where he blossomed. 7.Ali Zafar

Reminiscing Alam Lohar – 36 Years Since The Legend Left Us
It might have been a long time that the legendary Punjabi folk singer left the world, but his legacy lives on and is practiced even now. Since beginning his career at the age of 13, the celebrated singer is still remembered for his contribution with songs such as Jugni, after tragically passing away in a car accident in 1979, at the age of 51. Friends and family gathered on his death anniversary on July 3 to honor his life and works.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 20 Review – New Twists & Turns!
Ohkay so, got a dose of Yeh Raha Dil after 2 weeks but I so wish I had enjoyed this episode as much as I enjoyed all the previous ones. Yes, this episode did have a few developments to its credit but it was a bit too slow, also, I am not sure how I feel about the new twists in the story, obviously things will be convincing & there’d be a reason for everything that is happening now, but I am not feeling these new developments but let’s see.
I really wish Nida gets tired of this hatred that she is brewing in her heart, I really wish that happens because even after getting engaged, she is still insecure. It is like even Nida herself knows that Zaki is not into her & he only got engaged because he was pressurized, so in stead of trying to make things difficult for Hayat & in stead of trying to win the lost battle, she should stop stalling & face the reality. I wish that one fine day Nida wakes up & realizes that everything that she is doing is not worth it because it is not making her happy & it is not even making Zaki happy either. Nida even has noticed the change in Zaki’s behavior, like he doesn’t call her, so in stead of putting the entire blame on Hayat & holding her responsible for Zaki’s attitude, she should analyze things herself because even if Hayat won’t be in the picture, Zaki still wouldn’t be the same like he used to be.
So, Hayat was finding it hard to function ever since she returned from the engagement ceremony, because her heart wasn’t at ease due to the confession that she made. Hayat could also sense that Zaki was trying to put her in an awkward position, more like he was trying to take his revenge that is why she was feeling uncomfortable. At least, it is good that Hayat has stopped running away from the reality & is herself acknowledging the feelings that she has for Zaki but she has put herself in this situation, so there’s nothing that she can do now. Hayat actually thought that her problems will be over once she Zaki & Nida will get engaged but she has no idea what Zaki’s upto!
So, Zaki has assigned himself this new task, where he is now going to do everything to make sure that Hassan & Hayat get hitched too. Yes, Zaki has his reasons & he has an ulterior motive but I really didn’t understand the sudden shift in Hassan’s attitude, like at one hand he is planning to go abroad to pursue his education since he is so focused & on the other, he seems more than ready to start a commitment with Hayat whom he couldn’t even tolerate just a couple of weeks ago? I wish there was a little more insight given to us in regards to Hassan’s feelings towards Hayat because this sudden change in his behavior where he is acting like a teenager in love or a teenager excited with the idea of being with someone is a little hard to grasp. Hassan was always shown as someone who was very focused, rigid & knew what he wanted from his life, so for him to believe a stranger like Zaki & open up to him just so easily that too concerning the matter which is actually quite personal is a bit hard to digest. Zaki’s motives are clear, he just wants Hayat to go through the pain that he went through, which is getting committed to someone who you don’t really love as he knows that Hayat loves him & not Hassan, so we do get that side of the picture clear but Hassan’s side is not only out of focus but a bit too blurry as well!
Well, one thing that I really liked in this episode was the conversation that Haroon had with Azra, about everything regarding Zaki & Nida’s future, like he knows that Nida isn’t made for a joint family system so when she will be herself after marriage, Azra will be the first one to complain, so he already told his wife that he doesn’t want Zaki & Nida to share the home with them because it would only ruin their relationships. Another thing that I liked was how subtly Haroon shared his feelings about Nida’s career, like without putting her down or without saying that he disapproves of her choices, he only put forth what he expected because he knows his son a bit too well & he wants Nida to give Zaki the utmost attention that he needs. I think the writer definitely should be commended here for putting very basic things forth with a different perspective & in the most respectful manner, like he actually showed that this is also a way to go about something, which is commendable.
Overall, this episode was a bit slow but the preview promised some drama, however I will say that I am not actually looking forward to Hassan’s track or his involvement in Hayat’s life because for the first time I feel I can predict that Hayat will be left with no choice than to accept Hassan’s proposal only to further assure Nida that she ain’t snatching Zaki away from her, which is bit too much because I feel Hayat is turning into a sacrificial lamb, which she never was but let’s see. I still am not too keen on Hassan’s character because right now it is becoming a bit evident that he is being used to stretch the drama further, so I wish things get sorted a bit quickly & we get to see the ending that we all are waiting for. Mehrunisa Crosses 7 Crores!
Mehrunisa V Lub U released this Eid to mixed reviews but it has managed to do a lot of business. The movie stars Danish Taimoor, Sana Javed, Javed Sheikh and Nayyer Ijaz among others. The film was a rom-com and claimed to have a social message. Mehrunisa is Yasir Nawaz’s second film after Wrong No. which was also successful at the box office. Xulfi Pays Tribute to Pink Floyd!
Ace musician Xulfi is in the industry for many years. His real name is Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, first he was a part of band EP but he later joined Call. He is also the producer of Nescafe Basement which is loved by the audience.
So Xulfi paid tribute to his favourite band “Pink Floyd” and musician David Gilmour. David Gilmour’s solo in Pink Floyds High Hopes from their album Division Bell touched his heart. He bought a lap steel guitar just for this tribute which he made memorable for himself and for all.
Xulfi’s Basement has also received a lot of love from around the world. John Newman expressed his appreciation for one of his songs, Love Me Again, which was covered on the show by an all-girls band. Roxette also shared Nescafe Basement’s cover of their song She’s Got The look.

The first episode of Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua was a lot like the first episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai since it started with highlighting a major issue between the leading characters instead of introducing them in a normal setting. While starting the drama in such a way can pique the curiosity of the viewers because even after watching the first episode you don’t really find out much about the characters, but at the same time such a beginning makes things complicated right from the start. Even after watching this entire episode the viewers do not really know the background of any of the characters even vaguely and we also don’t know how some of these characters are interrelated. While I am all for keeping the viewers at the edge of their seats but not introducing the characters properly in the first episode does not really serve the said purpose. Yes, I am curious to find out a lot about all these characters but I also feel that there is no need to keep the viewers guessing in this particular way! How is Faris (Sami Khan) related to Siraj Uncle (Rehan Sheikh)? Where are his parents? How are Seemi Pasha and Behroze Sabzwari’s character related to Faris? Basically, these are not the kind of questions that should be in the viewers minds after watching an introductory episode.
This episode opened with Faris (Sami Khan) complaining about the fact that his wife Maya (Ayeza Khan) left the house earlier than he had asked her to. Maya wants a divorce from her husband because she wants to go back to Saif (Zahid Ahmed), who is someone she had a relationship with before getting married but she married Faris because she had broken up with Saif. Uncle Siraj has taught Faris the art of losing well and therefore he is taking this recent development very differently from how any other husband would. He is heart broken and feels used but is pretending to be okay with everything. Maya could not care less about her marriage coming to an end and she is already looking forward to being with Saif. She thinks it is her right to be with the person she loves therefore she does not think she is doing something wrong. Saif came across as someone who won’t go the extra mile for someone. This episode did not reveal much about his character except that he is also romantically involved with Maya and isn’t stopping her from leaving her husband. Maya’s father Namdar Mirza (Usman Peerzada) is a lawyer who is naturally not too happy with his daughter’s decision and decides to talk her out of it but Maya has her mind all made up. Dania (Mansha Pasha) is related to Uncle Siraj and also likes Faris. Maya’s sister (Noor Khan) is very different from her but she knows that there is no point of arguing with Maya.
This entire episode covered the divorce, which is yet to happen. It showed how different characters feel about it and that is how the viewers found out about the central characters in the story. The best thing about this episode was the way it was directed and there was a lot of focus on everyone’s looks. All the characters looked trim and proper, it was quite apparent that the director focused on making the whole experience more visually pleasing for the viewers. However because of the script, just like MTSNH, the scenarios and the characters appeared to be staged as opposed to living and breathing human beings who the viewers could easily relate to. Sami Khan looked good and acted well, Faris was the only character I warmed up to in this episode. Ayeza Khan is once again playing a role which isn’t likeable but this time around she is not all over the place. Maya’s character also appears to be slightly more well defined than Maheen’s. Zahid Ahmed has a definite screen presence but his body language was too calculated in this episode, since we don’t know much about his character therefore it is impossible to guess why he was acting like that.
The preview of the next episode suggested that the divorce will not take place in the upcoming episode and I have a feeling that this is going to be another slow-paced drama. I just hope that it has enough substance to keep the viewers coming back for more.

Project Ghazi – What’s To Look Forward To
July 14th marks the release of Pakistan’s first live superhero movie, Project Ghazi, and we can hardly wait for it.
Project Ghazi comprises of super-soldiers, Humayun Saeed and Sheheryar Munawar, fighting the enemy, Adnan Jaffar’s and trying to flatten his evil plot. Zara, played by Syra Shahroz, is an investigator who is trying to search the cause of existence of the duo and their motives. The plot revolves around the idea of society being responsible for both good and bad guys. This is definitely an ambitious project and one that will undoubtedly revolutionize the Pakistani cinema.
According to Syra, she had absolutely no hesitation when it came to accepting her role.
“I didn’t have any second thoughts whatsoever! I think I believe in constantly challenging myself as an actor, not“ having just one hit movie. It’s about how far I can push myself as an actor,” she said. “The risk factor is always there. You can’t control that.” – Syra Shahroz, The Express Tribune
She added that Nadir Shah and Ali Raza, who are the director and producer of the film respectively, wanted to uptake a genre that has not yet been explored. It was different both in terms of production and VFX.
Sheheryar plays a rookie soldier, who is under Humayun’s mentorship. Accordingly, it was said that Sheheryar has the most complex role in the film.
“His character has the most grace. There are characters which are on extremes of either side of the spectrum, and you know what to hook on to. But Sheheryar’s goes through a lot and he shows many shades through his transformation.” – Nadir Shah, The Express Tribune.
However, the actor himself weirdly enough disagreed.
“Actually, I am the one wearing tight shirts and being the eye candy in the film. As politically incorrect as it sounds, I am the girl in the film, playing the catalyst. But then, men do the same in our dramas with dialogues like ‘Acha, meri maa ne yeh kaha tha?’ But on a serious note, sometimes you are leading the scene or are a catalyst and give space to other characters to come out. It can’t just revolve around one person.”
Dilawar is perhaps, metaphorically speaking to be the Q of James Bond where he equips soldiers but does not fight in the field himself.
As for the villian Adnan, Director Nadir was all praises:
“He’s a trained actor and likes such off-the-wall characters so this role was tailor-made for him. He’s a mercenary with some special abilities in the film and sees so much crime in the society that it seeps into his personality.”
Ironically all three celebrated heroes of the movie are huge fans of superheroes movies themselves. Syra loves Marvel pictures and her recent favorite movie is none other than Wonder Woman.
“Captain America is pretty good too. I love X-Men a lot. I love the concept and I connect with them on some level.”
Munawar however had his heart set on a different fandom.
“I’m a Jason Bourne fan and a Tyler Durden fan.”
But don’t try to judge a book from its cover and make your own perspective without watching the movie. The director has promised to invest a blend of eastern and western zest. This is not only to bring in something new to the media industry but to motivate and encourage new film grads to try experimentation with their productions.

The iconic London buses have always been the hallmark of one of the most metropolitan cities in the world. They have evolved over time but their traditional double decker look and feel remains the same.

We live in era of information overflow and with that comes opinions and criticism coming your way right left and centre. So none of us is really safe from falling into one form of controversy or the other. We can imagine if it is like this for us, how it must be for celebrities who have their every move followed and shared and discussed. They have no respite from it all. The media follows them like a hawk all around the country and even outside. And they cannot complain because publicity, good or bad is their bread and butter. They have to compete with eachother to become the most talked about and hence they get entangled in their fair share of controversies which is human and they deserve some margin for saying things which do not sit right with some people here and there.
However, we have some special stars in our industry whose sole claim to fame are the controversies they create for themselves. For them, no news is not good enough news. 1. Amir Liaquat Hussain
This man is nothing if not a controversial figure. From being a religious scholar to a disco maulvi to a vulgarly speaking host, Amir Liaquat is regularly in the news, for all the wrong reasons. He has been banned by PEMRA time and again and he never pays heed to any of it. Just recently, his program on Bol channel where he called religious activism as blasphemy turned up a huge storm of criticism. However, he appeared again in Ramzan with tall tales of gifting aeroplanes and questioning his guests about private and inappropriate issues. So, we can safely but sadly conclude that Amir Liaquat is here to stay, in each program more controversial than the previous one.
2. Sahir Lodhi
This man is popular for reasons unbeknownst to mankind. There is nothing likeable about the way he talks, sings, hosts or dances, but this is serving him quite well. Every few months, he does something so absurd that it remains viral for many days afterwards. I think producers and directors also cash in on his controversies, which is why they keep on casting him. The self proclaimed Shahrukh Khan of Lollywood is a master of gaining popularity by being outrageous.
3. Meera
This woman has been the reigning queen of controversy since the time she stepped into the industry. And I do not believe it is unintentional, since anyone with a quarter of her wealth could have gone to a finishing school or somewhere, to learn how and what to speak. But, I think she is well aware of the immense popularity publicity this brings her way.
4. Tahir Shah
Well, what can you say about someone who deliberately creates, composes, sings and acts in songs like Eye To Eye and Mankind Angels and then peers from behind his curly long locks to let you know that he is spreading the message of love and peace. It is not hard to get what he is trying to achieve so determinedly and he is quite there already. There can only be one Tahir Shah in this world.
5. Waqar Zaka
For someone who planted his foot in the industry by giving dares to people to prove they are capable of living on the edge, he is not the one to follow any social rules or norms and sometimes basic mannerisms as well. From giving outrageous statements to being beaten publicly by girls, Waqar Zaka has certainly made himself quite noticeable.

Arth 2 Is The Very First Bollywood Movie To Be Remade In Pakistan!
Arth is considered a cult classic in Bollywood. The movie was made by none other than Mahesh Bhatt and is even known to be somewhat his and late Parveen Babi’s biography. The classic is the first ever Bollywood film to be remade in Pakistan.
The posters of the film were recently released and they are incredible. Shaan will play the role of Raj Kiran, Uzma Hassan as Shabana Azmi, Humaima Malik as Smita Patil and Mohib Mirza will be seen as Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The story will be set in Lahore.
According to Mumbai Mirror Mahesh Bhatt gave the rights of movie to Shaan without charging when he showed his desire to make a remake of the film.
Shaan said: “Arth is the first film with the DNA of an Indian story to be set in Pakistan. If we want to strengthen film trade between our countries, Arth’s model is a great way of collaborating.”
Bhatt sahab also didn’t object to the film and said: “When Shaan expressed the desire to revisit Arth, I had no objection. The story has endured the passage of time and is available in public domain. Shaan wanted to use my story and present it as a local, indigenous narrative that suited his country’s palate. I’m not aware of what he has done. Every filmmaker has his own worldview and the freedom to reinterpret a story the way he wishes.”
We are totally looking forward to this one as Shaan will be seen in a different role after a long time.
