Urwa Hocane and Farhan Saeed are all set to get married on Decmeber 18. Their dholki pictures are already buzzing on social media since 2 days and we just can’t get enough of them. Urwa Hocane had a bridal shower last night and both the sisters undoubtedly looked stunning.
Pakistani films are in a transition phase, they have developed from old Punjabi films to more refined entertainment. And with this growing revolution the expectations of the audiences are rising too. Many films release every year but only a few of them manage to leave a mark in Pakistani Cinema. Audiences always look forward to films of their favourite actors or a film which is expected to bring a different message. Here is a video revealing the names of few upcoming films which are going to be a much watch.
Buzz around Raees has been like a never ending one. A new controversy would rise up everyday and this time the latest reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan has left for Dubai along with the Raees team to complete the shooting of 2 songs and Mahira Khan will join him there and shoot for her remaining portions. The songs will be shot in Dubai and Morocco.
Now that the trailer of Raees has been released and it has opened to immensely huge response from the audience, things appear to have changed. Pinkvilla quotes a source saying, “Now, that the dust has settled down and the Raees trailer has got a great response the makers of the film decided to shoot the remaining songs with Mahira Khan who plays SRK’s love interest – but outside India and a country where nobody could object. Mahira has received a good response too in the trailer and the makers are more confident. They decided to fly to Dubai first and shoot one song in Abu Dhabi or Bahrain and then fly to Morocco for the second. It is all being done under the utmost secrecy and is very hush-hush till the songs are shot and the team flies back, so that nobody finds out. Whatever patchwork remained was complete a few days back with SRK in Mumbai. After the two songs are shot abroad, Raees is complete.”
A source told SpotboyE, “Pritam has composed a couple of songs for the film out of which one is definitely going to be included in Raees. The song could be shot in Morocco or Dubai as Shah Rukh’s schedule already includes a visit to these places.”
There are reports that the Mahira Khan has demanded that her role remain the way it was in the original or else should be fully removed. She doesn’t wish what happened to Fawad Khan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for her.
A source further informed Mid-Day that the leading lady has demanded that her role remain the way it was in the original or else nothing at all. She doesn’t wish what happened to Fawad Khan in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil for her.
“She wanted either a well-fleshed out role like the story originally had, or nothing at all. She wasn’t okay with a superfluous part like Fawad’s in ADHM. Though the makers tried to reason with her, they eventually conceded that she doesn’t deserve a raw deal. It was a deliberate move to feature her prominently in the trailer too,” the insider further elaborated.
One can only wonder if the reports are original or not because if this is really happening then, it surely is going to be great since we will get to see more of our Diva in Raees.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which released on Oct 28th could hardly manage to get a safe release and that too after Karan Johar paid INR 5 crores for a safe release and issued a video, stating he will not cast any Pakistani artist in the future. The film was caught up into controversies due to Fawad Khan’s cameo in it and Karan Johar paid a high price for it. Recently a video of all the deleted scenes of ADHM leaked online, which included a scene of Fawad and Anushka. Editing is always a necessary part to be done and most of the time many of the scenes are edited out to cut short the film’s length.

There still are loads of speculations of Fawad Khan’s cameo being cut short in the film. In an interview with FirstPost Karan Johar said, “When people say that I find it so silly. His exact screen time is nine minutes, but even if he was there for 15, the protests would not have been any less. [Laughs] I didn’t cut his role. This is all he was meant to do in the film.”
We do certainly give you the benefit of doubt Karan.
This year has been a good one for Pakistani entertainment since there were few improvements made in terms of stories. It brought along some enthralling dramas which sure, are capable of leaving a mark in the industry. Stereotypical dramas are still somewhere alive but a few ‘good feel’ dramas covered it all.
It is always important for the drama to deliver the right message. Writing is always an important aspect but the characters are as important as the story is and a character can only be worth watching if it brings along a spectacle performance. Actors are always expected to give an attainable performance that not just satisfies them but the audiences too and that’s what makes a drama more meaningful. There are times when the stories will sink but strong characters will not let it down. The very first thing that attracts viewers to the drama is the lead roles but a drama can never be completed without the supporting roles.
And we are blessed to have few of those writers who provide proper attention to all the characters. Supporting characters give us the feel of completion for every particular drama and they are certainly a necessity. We this year, saw numerous supporting characters but there were only a few which nailed every bit of it and managed to keep their characters something to look forward to. Here is the list of Supporting characters of 2016, that managed to wow one and all.
Torah Khan
Torah Khan from Sange Mar Mar, played by Paras. Sange Mar Mar is just a few episodes down and it is ruling the screens since the very first episode. The drama did not just covered a different story but has brought along some characters we’d always remember. Torah Khan is one such, who despite being a supporting character, has a strong appearance in the drama. All the conspiracies made by him were clever and unexpected at the same time. His character is not evil but of a man with painful past, who only has one motive and that is to take revenge of everything he and his family had to face due to Gulistan Khan’s family. The story right now is focusing on his character, Paras is overall, doing complete justice to the role of Torah and there are all praises for him. His acting is something which is way more than just commendable and he has brought Torah’s character to life in the best way possible. His acting is outstanding and we just can’t get enough of him.
Wahab Sanera
Wahab Sanera from Besharam, played by Malik Raza. This character did not always had long scenes but somehow managed to keep the audiences wanting more of him. A glimpse of him was everything it took to make the episode more engaging. He would turn out to be funny in the least expected situations which is what the audiences liked the most. He wasn’t educated but was rich and had a beautiful wife too. The balanced accent the character had the whole time is something applauding. Malik Raza is really a talented actor, he did pull of this role easily and made it look natural at the same time. His character always had a lot to offer and was undoubtedly one of the best characters seen this year.
Shabnam
Shabnam from Sanam, played by Hina Bayat. The drama till now doesn’t has much to offer but Shabnam is the character that is the best thing about Sanam right now. She has been a reason for the slight entertainment given by the drama, her character is of a mother who is always looking for a man for her daughter. She is a kind of strong woman, who left her husband’s town for the sake of her daughter’s future. She knew she wanted a good future for her daughter and so, she decided to take a higher step and move on. The character did some unreasonable stuff at times but still kept the audiences entertained the whole while. The character has been written in detail and every scene was perfectly executed. Hina Bayat’s acting is what makes ‘Sanam’ complete, her acting is extremely natural and professional. She is usually seen in dramas throughout the year but never fails to impress the audiences. She can easily fit into any character and that’s what makes her a versatile actor.
Aneesa Begum
Aneesa begum from Zara Yad Kar, played by Saba Faisal. ZYK was not the best drama but the dialogues were something which were spot on till the end and brought along a great supporting character. The character transformed to a unlucky mother, who was hurt but not broken. Despite all the harsh happenings, Aneesa was shown strong, the writer had written this character in depth because the dialogues came out as genuine, her part gave us the much needed satisfaction. Every single dialogue said by the character was appealing in every way and Saba Faisal’s dialogue delivery skills are admirable, there couldn’t be a better choice for Aneesa’s role.
Durkhanai
Durkhanai from Sange Mar Mar, played by Beenish Raja. Sange Mar Mar is such a ‘good feel’ drama that every character of it is perfect in every way and Durkhanai’s character is one of those characters which are a treat to watch. She is the perfect version of a friend and a companion, she did made mistakes and put Shireen in trouble but that certainly had to be done to move the story forward. Durkhanai’s role since the beginning had a lot to offer, she is outspoken but a supportive friend. Her scenes were always so entertaining that they could never be missed, i personally really liked her role. She is the best addition to the cast of sange mar mar and i’m surely not the only one who miss seeing her naughtiness.
Sheedan
Sheedan from Udaari, played by Bushra Ansari. Sheedan was a character which could be an inspiration to many. She was strong, independent, confident and most importantly was proud of her profession despite of knowing that it’s not the best. She would breakdown but will never lose. Bushra Ansari was a perfect Sheedan, she nailed every bit of it. She is a kind of actress who manages to do every role with perfection. Whether it’s the accent or the style, she easily transforms for every role and makes it look extremely natural in every way.
Zulekha (Mohib’s mother)
Zulekha from Dillagi, played by Saba Hameed. Zulekha’s character always looked real and was relatable because she was a strong mother. She was not the best mother in-law but was not the worst either. She did went unreasonable at times but was a dominant woman and loved her son unconditionally. The developments in the character were brilliantly executed and Saba Hameed’s acting was applaudable. She brought the character to life with her amazing expressions and acting skills.
Gulistan Khan
Gulistan Khan from Sange Mar Mar, played by Noman Aijaz. Gulistan’s character is another strong and fascinating one. A presence of him is everything it takes to give viewers the satisfaction. He is shown as a cruel man who is used to imposing his decisions on his children and is not willing to change his mind for anyone. The character has been shown in a strongly manner till now, and is shown changing in minor ways and that too only because of the motives which are quite visible. The ‘roup’ he has is sometimes very interesting too see. Noman Aijaz has done roles similar to this in the past and he was perfect at it the whole time. Gulistan is not the best father but he cares for his children in ways that it seems too forced.
Maalik
Maalik from Mana Ka Gharana, played by Shamil Khan. This character went through different phases, it started of as an isolated person and then a loving one. The changes were neatly shown and the character had something different to offer in it’s own way. The chemistry he had with Zari was beautiful, the pair together looked extremely good. Shamil Khan’s acting was a cherry on top and he made the character more appealing with his brilliant acting.
London-based weekly newspaper Eastern Eye conducted an annual poll for 50 Most Sexiest Asian Man 2016. British Pakistani Singer Zayn Malik was crowned the sexiest Asian man of 2016, beating Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan. Zayn Malik took the the title for the second consecutive year. The first two ranks were taken by Zayn Malik and Hritik Roshan followed by the heartthrob Fawad Khan. Fawad in 2015 ranked as the 6th sexiest Asian Man but this year he climbed the ladder and grabbed the 3rd spot. Pakistani Rockstar Ali Zafar took the 9th rank and our very own Arshad Khan too grabbed a spot in the list. He is ranked as the 31st sexiest Asian man.
This episode focused completely on Shehrnaz and Sherry’s track and unlike the preview of the previous episode, the preview for this episode gave away the main twist in the story therefore all the scenes which were meant to convince the viewers that Sherry really had a change of heart were a waste of time. Sherry’s actions in the end could have been the most shocking development in this play so far only if the viewers were not shown that scene in the preview of this episode last week. It is difficult to believe that those people who were incredibly creative and intelligent while visualizing the preview of the previous episode could be careless enough to give away the main twist of the story in the preview of this episode. Right till the end I was hoping that this too would be a dream sequence like it was last week but that was not the case. Apart from this Shehrnaz and Sherry’s track is the weakest link in this drama because of many reasons. The first reason is the actor playing the role of Sherry, Farhan Ahmed Malhi does not have the charm or the acting skills to pull this character off therefore right from the beginning it was very difficult to relate to Shehrnaz’s feelings for him. Sherry is supposed to be a charmer, that is how the writer conceived his character but this aspect of his personality lost its appeal because of the way it has been translated on screen. Also, the viewers were not shown the dynamics of Shehrnaz and Sherry’s relationship in detail; their entire relationship was covered in one episode and in the next one Sherry put the ring on Shehrnaz’s finger, there was absolutely no interaction between them after that until Shehrnaz told him that she had to go away for the contest. After the contest Shehrnaz desperately called him and wanted to be in touch. Overall, this track has been managed poorly therefore tonight’s episode was the first one which wasn’t as engrossing as rest of the episodes of Shehrnaz.
Shehrnaz is in love, something we have to suppose since the relationship between these two people is difficult to connect to, therefore she does something completely foolish. She will have to pay a big price for trusting Sherry and for now I feel more for Shehrnaz’s father than her. He is someone who trusted her completely and will be hurt badly if he finds out what has happened. Also, Shehrnaz might turn to KK now for help. There are number of possibilities and it is difficult to predict what turn the story will take now. The reaction to Shehrnaz’s visit to Sherry’s house was given plenty of screen time in this episode. These reactions from his family members were the reason why Sherry did something so extreme to prove himself right but even then there was no need to cover these reactions in such detail.
Although this wasn’t one of the best episodes of Shehrnaz but it did give me a reason to look forward to the next one. I am waiting to see how Shehrnaz deals with this problem and what repercussions this latest development will have. Shehrnaz’s dialogues when she tells Sherry what he meant to her were too cheesy. Shehrnaz’s father’s reaction to her daughter’s “outing” was shown really well. This was the first time that he did not approve of something his daughter had done, the writer showed how a father’s instinct tells him that something is wrong in a very apt manner. This episode laid the foundations for the biggest challenge in Shehrnaz’s life till now. She will once again pay a big price for standing up for herself. This episode showed a more vulnerable side of Shehrnaz which I am not particularly fond of but it definitely makes her character more human. Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan yet again gave natural and convincing performances.

So I had been praising this drama from being free from cliché situations or scenes and while for the most part it continues to be entertaining these two episodes had their fair share of typical dialogues and situations which moved the story forward same and also made it run round in circles like a cat chasing its tail.
Aina as we had earlier established has become manhoos Aina. Before I get into this drama, what is with this constant manhoos aurat scenario? It is in some form or the other in the dramas but so many names such as Kambakht Tano, Bechari Mehrunissa, Mariam Kaisay Jiye – I mean seriously what makes anyone think people may jump to watch a drama named like that? Or do they?
Anyway, back to bechari and manhoos Aina. Sajal has become seriously sari huee jal !!- I am not sure if this is the same mild natured, loving sister we were introduced to in the earlier episodes. Yes, Aina’s news gave their mother a lot of grief, yes she died, yes Sajal had her rant and blame game full force but really how long does that last? Aina had been selfish but she has learnt her lesson and when Sajal and Faraz take her to Islamabad I would have thoughts things may become to settle. Firstly, I do not get why they had to keep up with the farce in a new city. Why not just introduce Aina as the divorced and pregnant sister and get on with settling in a new city and meeting new people. Khala had made Faraz promise he would keep things to himself but she has assumed that Imran was ready to accept Aina and the baby and now that things had clearly spiralled out of control, common sense would be to tell Mohsin the truth and then take Aina with them to Islamabad. I was given the impression there was no other family and as for what society thinks, well then I guess that is what Sajal took to heart a bit too much for she could have stuck to her story of Aina being divorced and pregnant and just moved facts around a little such as saying after her mother’s death they did her nikah without a lot of fanfare etc, Man, I feel they should have consulted with me how to handle this, LOL!
Well, between Sajal constantly spewing venom and Aina constantly taking it all with a lot of patience, Sajal does get pregnant and loses her baby. I think the change in Faraz’s character has been brought on by the baby where I could still understand that he was more concerned about his own child than Aina and very happily accepted Aina giving her child to Imran’s parents. Mohsin with his bobbing head and quavering voice has cut off ties with everyone and although I felt bad for Nadia for taking the brunt of his anger it seems he does possess a gentler side which has appeared with news of Nadia expecting twins herself.
Imran’s mother’s conscience tagged along with her all the way to America and she finally told Imran the truth. While Asad Zaman Khan’s acting in that scene was really good, the way the situation evolved after that was insane. When he asked his mother for the number I thought oh no, she left her phone in Karachi, oh no she will slip when she gets off that bed to fetch her phone but no she manages to give Imran the number only to have the housemaid tell him madam has lost the baby and he assumes it is Aina and that is that! Uff! I was curious to be honest to see how things are between Aini and Imran now but there was not much save a couple of scenes which did not really tell us much except Aini’s amusing statement where she says to Imran’s back, ‘jahanum mein jao’- little knowing (or not acknowledging) – he is already in a living hell.
One thing that bothered me about Aina was her statement to Faraz and Sajal about how she wanted to give birth so that the child may grow up and question his/her father. Really? There was no outburst of how she could be expected to kill her own baby etc – except the wild look in her eyes as she explains why she wants to have the baby and I thought oh wow, really? I was a bit taken aback also at how casually abortion or the concept/thought of it was treated in these two episodes, firstly with convincing Aina to go ahead with it and then Sajal announcing the same only to save face from society’s prying eyes and comments when nothing illegal or immoral had happened. I am not judging the concept of abortion here, rather how casually it was used for it is not a seemingly common jump – to solution in the families in our dramas.
Sajal’s constant mean comments and wallowing in self pity are getting a bit irritating and ridiculous and I hope there is an end to all of that soon either with her realizing she needs to stop being mean which does not seem likely or Aina leaving their home. I found Naveen Waqar acted well and while I wish she and Emaad Irfani would rely a little less on eyes widening to uncomfortable proportions, she has managed to make me relate to her character. I have not watched any drama with Asad Zaman Khan in it but I can safely say I would definitely be interested to see him again. With so many characters intertwined with each other and each having a story to tell, the drama is far from boring but I do hope the focus moves away from Sajal now. What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts.
When I review a drama, I watch the episode then get up and do a few things while I gather my thoughts – how I felt about the episode, anything in particular that caught my attention and then when I sit to write the rest comes together. With this episode, I thoroughly enjoyed watching it bar the couple of scenes which focused on Azra – and started on the review straight away. Shahzad Sheikh, Iqra Aziz and Tahira Imam (Urwah’s mother) performed so well in today’s episode that I really enjoyed watching them. I had been looking forward to this episode when Urwah is back home and there would be more Urwah-Ameena interaction – and I was not disappointed. I will pop in my disclaimer that if you are looking for a show that has to make sense in each scene and must really reach out and grasp your attention, then do not bother with this drama especially today’s episode. Otherwise, go for it
This episode with the gudda-guddi shaadi did raise my eyebrows and I thought oh dear, Ameena really? A 15 year old planning a doll’s wedding? Until it sunk in then that Ameena was doing all this to make Mano happy. Mano apparently does not have many friends and is disabled. Ameena’s infectious enthusiasm or the innocence – something managed to touch Taayi’s heart and she also begins to take an interest in the wedding preparations. The fact that this was all done to make a little girl happy added a nice touch and I was actually quite fascinated when Taayi shows Ameena the clothes. The director really did get down to the very minute details and it was actually interesting.
However, all is not rosy in our real life gudda-guddi’s marital life. It was nice to see a less stiff Urwah and although his constant ‘jaahil’ insults were not nice, the squabbling between him and Ameena was definitely not spiteful. I do not think both of them actually realize what being married is. For Urwah it meant a lifetime of ‘not up to the mark’ nashtas and for Ameena it was a sulky presence that only scolded her. I know their relationship with the ‘catfight’ where Ameena hits Urwah and the way they argue should be ridiculous, immature or cringeworthy but it really was not for me. I found their scenes honestly amusing and I have to hand it to Shahzad Sheikh and Iqra Aziz for making me feel that way.
Iqra Aziz has finally won me over as Ameena. She may not know it but Ameena has begun to take things in her stride. I like how her personality is not spiteful or petty. She is immature but has a good heart and is not stupid. She knows when she is being laughed at and is hurt and even voices her feelings but she does not hold a grudge per se as was evident with how she tries to manage the household work. I love the way Iqra has translated Ameena’s character and has given it her all, the way she suddenly jumps off a chair or marches off arms swinging. I know, I know – I was never a huge fan and in fact I am not even watching Natak on HUM for the promos neither the cast seemed appealing but as Ameena, Iqra is definitely a good choice for she has a naturally pleasant face and the awkward shy smile when Taayi explains to her to try to dress up for her husband, to the clumsiness and the angry march I am beginning to understand Ameena. I hope I have not spoken too soon for the loud wails were annoying and I hope this is the last I have seen of them.
What also makes Choti Si Zindagi charming and which was highlighted in today’s episode was again the absence of ‘evil’ characters’. When Taayi wanted a little rant over Ameena’s clumsiness, her neighbour pointed out how good a heart Ameena has. Taya is also reasonable where he asks his wife to teach Ameena ghar kay kaam and accept she will make mistakes but will get over them with time. Urwah too, with his fascination for and recent exposure to the glitz and shine of shehr wali larkis, bar the ‘jaahil‘ comments, is not nasty to Ameena. I do not think he really realizes what a commitment marriage is the way he asks his mother to send Ameena back. I love how Ameena also plays the Taya card and how she is not gullible.
I have often seen Tahira Imam in other dramas and not thought much of her acting, either way but she was very convincing as the warm mother in law in today’s episode. Shahzad Sheikh made me laugh in the scene where he was squatting mosquitoes and then when he goes back to bed and makes sure his blanket is away from Ameena’s, LOL. I keep finding myself noticing the tiny things such as the ancient telephones, the flowery sofas and bedcovers, the ‘chaarpais’ and it all adds such a nice, real touch to this drama. I like the background music except one track sounds a bit ‘Rabb Nay Bana Di Jori’ type but that is okay I guess.
Azra’s ‘formula’ (uff I could not get over the cheesiness of that conversation) may cause mayhem in Urwah’s household. If the letter was addressed to Urwah why did Ameena open it? Also, I find Azra’s father’s attitude a bit odd. Agreeing to a husband for his daughter just because he is ‘intelligent’ seemed a bit far fetched or maybe I have seen too many rich, angry fathers in our dramas but oh well. I am definitely looking forward to the next episode where Urwah and Ameena travel to Multan and really hope these summer holidays do not end anytime soon. What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Junaid Jamshed’s tragic death was a shock for the whole world. Celebrities not just in Pakistan but across the border too mourned the loss. After Sophie Choudhry and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, superstar Amir Khan recently opened up on how saddened he was upon hearing the news of Junaid Jamshed’s death. Talking to the press during the promotions of his upcoming film Dangal, Amir Khan revealed that he found Junaid Jamshed as a very humble man, when he met him during their Haj trip to Saudia Arabia.

Junaid Jamshed lost his life in a tragic plane crash on December 7, 2016 along with others on-board. The whole nation mourned the death of the singer turned Islamic preacher. He was and will always be an inspiration to all.
It is nothing infamous, that Fawad Khan was purely loved in India but the growing conflicts between the countries brutally affected the ‘Art’. He rose to fame with some hit dramas and strong roles in the movies. The controversy around Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Fawad Khan’s presence in it broke out post the conflict and there were innumerable responses from the Bollywood. But this response so far, is a different one. Indian comedian Daniel Fernandes has a valid reason for hating the actor, because he can’t afford to like him, since Karan Johar had paid a whopping five crores for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s release.
Daniel said, “I have legit reasons for hating Fawad Khan. Number one, I cannot afford to like Fawad Khan. I don’t have Rs 5 crores on me, only 4.5. Secondly, Fawad was born in Pakistan, I was born in India. What choice do I have? Hate is our default setting right? There hasn’t been a software upgrade since 1947. And third reason, nobody should be that good looking! He just looks too good. You have to hate that guy.”
He is also ‘comically’ jealous of Arshad Khan because he has blue eyes and Fernandes doesn’t. He gets modelling contracts and Fernandes?! Not sure. But amid the laughter, he makes a very important point that why does a chaiwala or vegetable seller being good looking surprise us so much? It’s not birth right of the financially-fit to look good, isn’t it?
Pakistani drama industry seems to be upping their game in terms of quality and the approach with which the stories are being shown, that is why this season, the drama buffs are being spoilt by getting some really good dramas on TV screens. As these dramas are currently being aired and will end next year, they couldn’t be included in any of the annual lists of 2016. However, we wanted to dedicate a list to a few of the TOP dramas of this season, which the viewers were contemplating about whether to watch them or not because we feel, these dramas should definitely not be missed and are worth our recommendation.
So, without further ado, here is the alphabetically ordered list of the Top 5 dramas of this season:
Dil Banjara
Written by: Faiza Iftikhar
Directed by: Siraj ul Haque
Produced by: MD Productions
Channel: HUM TV
Cast: Sanam Saeed, Adnan Malik, Meera Sethi, Hina Bayat, Samina Ahmed, Munawwar Raza, Mohsin Raza Gillani, Madiha Rizvi and others.
Dil Banjara has more than its fair share of weaknesses but there are also some aspects of this drama which make it a must-watch. The stunning locations, unconventional characters and an unpredictable storyline makes this drama one which should not be missed. Even though Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik’s performances can be a little shaky at times but their on-screen chemistry makes their couple a complete success. Hina Bayat and Mohsin Gillani’s brilliant portrayals and their one-of-a-kind relationship is another interesting and unusual yet appealing aspect of this drama. Mohsin Gillani plays the role of a father who stands up against all odds to ensure that his daughter gets all those opportunities which other girls in the family never got with brilliance. Sanam Saeed plays the character of a girl who never wanted to let her father down but ended up falling for a man even though she is engaged to someone else with precision despite of some flaws in direction because of which her character seems confusing at time.
Sikandar is also an unusual leading man who keeps you wondering about his next move. Dil Banjara is the story of three people who are hopelessly in love even though they are not meant to be together.
Khuda Aur Mohabbat:
Written by: Hashim Nadeem
Directed by: Syed Ali Raza Usama
Produced by: Baber Javed
Channel: GEO TV
Cast: Imran Abbas, Saadia Khan, Firdous Jamal, Usman Peerzada, Saba Faisal, Humayun Ashraf and others.
This drama made a lot of buzz because as it was promised to be the second season of Khuda Aur Mohabbat, however, this factor was kept hidden from the viewers that the team of this drama was planning to cover the entire novel from beginning to end in this season, that is why they included that section of the story which was already covered in the first season too. However, it is a bonus for those viewers who haven’t seen the first season because the team of Khuda Aur Mohabbat has made a bigger and better come back.
The story is about two different people who belong to two different worlds but it is the feeling and emotion of love that binds them together. Even though the story revolves around Hammad and his love for Imaan a little more but it is one such journey that shouldn’t be missed. Imran Abbas is one such actor who knows how to portray the emotion of love flawlessly and phenomenally on screen, so it sure is a treat for all the drama buffs out there. Khuda Aur Mohabbat is filled with such beautiful characters that you will have a great time relating to them and then Hammad’s character and journey will keep you hooked to this drama as well.

Produced by: Sana Shahnawaz
Channel: ARY Digital
Cast: Ayesha Khan, Syed Jibran, Aly Khan, Hira Tareen, Irsa Ghazal, Imran Ashraf, Mehmood Aslam, Furqan Qureshi, Saba Hameed, Marium Saleem and others.
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai isn’t the story of one person alone but it is the story of many people whose lives change drastically after the birth of an intersex child and obviously this will be the story of that child too once the story moves forward. The drama has some credible and compelling performances to its credit, the script so far has been logical and the director has managed to do complete justice to the emotional upheavals which were a very important part of few of the episodes that have gone on air and will play a vital role in helping the viewers relate to the characters in the upcoming episodes as well. Through the character of Bubbly the writer also tells the story of intersex individuals who are not accepted by the society.
Aisha Khan, Adnan Shah Tipu and Saba Hameed’s outstanding performances and the way this story has been executed make this drama a clear winner. This drama also has some brand new situations and scenarios to its credit which give it a very refreshing feel. Khuda Mera Bhi Hai will keep you entertained and engaged throughout, do watch it.
Khoobsurat
Written by: Seema Ghazal and Dilshaad Naseem
Directed by: Faheem Burney
Produced by: A&F Productions
Channel: Urdu1
Cast: Mahnoor Baloch, Azfar Rehman, Zarnish Khan, Asma Abbas, Faisal Rehman and others.
Khoobsurat isn’t grand but it is definitely entertaining. Zarnish Khan and Azfar Rehman’s sizzling on screen chemistry and their natural and spontaneous performances make this drama a must-watch. The story is rather simple but it is appealing nevertheless. The director and the writer seem to be taking the time necessary to take the story forward but they have done so without slowing down the pace of the drama. Khoobsurat is also visually pleasing not only because of the beautiful people who are part of the drama but also because of the picture quality and overall outlook of these actors which isn’t Over The Top but pleasing to see on screen.
So far Khoobsurat is a decent watch which falls in the category of light entertainment. The drama is likely to get serious in the future but so far the writer has managed to cover all the aspects of the story without making it too somber at any point. Zarnish Khan and Asma Abbas’ exceptional performances and their relationship with each other is the highlight of the drama as well.

Sang e Marmar:
Written by: Mustafa Afridi
Directed by: Safie Hassan
Produced by: Momina Duraid
Channel: HUM TV
Cast: Noman Ejaz, Sania Saeed, Hassan Noman, Kubra Khan, Mikaal Zulfikar, Masoor Paras, Najiba Faiz, Uzma Hassan, Kaif Ghaznavi, Tipu Sharif, Beenish Raja, Omair Rana and others.
This is probably one such drama of the season that has everyone hooked to it completely. Even though in the initial episodes, it did look it was going to be an issue based drama with a very serious undertone but the writer and the director with their amazing talent turned it into a complete package. Iron willed characters, strong women, humour, sarcasm, family politics, plotting, planning, unpredictability, you name it, you’ve got it. Sang e Marmar definitely gained popularity because it got better and better with each passing episode and surpassed viewer’s expectations because at this stage of the drama industry where there was an influx of star studded disasters, no one expected Sang e Marmar to be this good.
Sang e Marmar is a perfect example of how a drama should be, where it should take the viewers to the world of its own and when the episode ends, it makes them feel they didn’t get enough of it. Sang e Marmar is a result of intelligent writing, intelligent direction and brilliant acting. The writer chose such a grave subject where he chose to highlight the issues that prevail in a certain culture without making it seem to grim and then the director elaborated it with finesse, where he never once made the viewers feel detatched to the reality that was being shown. Then last but not the least, the actors gave such captivating performances that the viewers formed a connection with them to such an extent that it ended up looking like the viewers were watching real lives of real people unfold on their screens. If you haven’t hopped on the band wagon of Sang e Marmar, it’s a high time you should because if there is one drama that you should definitely not miss, it is Sang e Marmar.
Shehrnaz

Director: Syed Ahmed Kamran
Producers: Hassan Zia and Danish Taimoor
Channel: Urdu1
Cast: Sajid Hassan, Ayeza Khan, Farhan Ahmed Malhi, Aly Khan, Mehmood Akhter, Imran Ashraf, Komal Iqbal and others.
Shehrnaz is the story of a girl who dreams to be a “heroine” in a film some day. Shehrnaz’s story is endearing and is free of clichés which is why it is a must-watch! This show belongs to Ayeza Khan completely, those of you who would like to watch Ayeza Khan excel in a role very different from the kind of roles she has been seen playing lately should definitely tune into this drama. Just like all the other plays in this list Shehrnaz too has a different feel to it; the heroine, her story and even the locations have been chosen well. Apart from Ayeza Khan Sajid Hassan’s acting is another reason why you will have a reason to tune into this drama every week. The production values of the drama are not as remarkable as some of the other dramas in this list and some of the supporting actors are misfits too but Shehrnaz’s story and her track is interesting enough to keep the viewers glued to their television screens.
The story so far is unpredictable which is another reason why this drama keeps on giving its viewers twists and turns which keep their interest alive.
So, with this, we conclude the list of Must-Watch Dramas of The Season. Please feel free to add more names to the list and don’t forget to share your thoughts.
Controversy of this Khan family is taking ugly turns everyday. It all started when Faryal Makhdoom claimed, her in-laws abused her physically and mentally. It was just a day or two ago, when Amir’s parents told their side of story and denied any such claims regarding the abuse and mistreatment. Amir the brushed off all this professing it as daily routine matters. But it all did not ended there, Faryal went overboard and posted a naked picture of her brother in-law stating how partial the family is. With all the growing tension in the media, Amir finally poured his heart out on twitter.
Writer: Zafar Mairaj
Director: Ali Hassan
Produced by: Big Bang Entertainment
Channel & Schedule: ARY – Every Tuesday 8pm
Although Muqabil comes with a big warning because it has been produced by Big Bang Production and written by the same writer who was behind Sangat but these first two episodes were interesting and gave me a reason to tune in to this drama next week. I felt an instant connection with Pareesa (Kubra Khan) and all the other characters in the story. Pareesa is someone who grew up with all the luxuries in the world but she was deprived of her parents’ (Saba Hameed and Saife Hassan) attention and protection which she needed more than anything else. Somehow she blames her mother more than her father perhaps because she feels that it was her duty to protect her. At the end of the first episode, the viewers find out the reason behind Pareesa’s withdrawn behavior and her overprotective nature towards her flowers and her maid’s daughter. Pareesa protects her flowers the way she feels she should have been protected. She is constantly judging people’s motives and actions based on what might be going on in their mind while they are interacting with a little child or even her flowers. Pareesa’s mother Shehnaz is a businesswoman who also runs an NGO and she relies heavily on her assistant Mehmood (Asif Raza Mir). Pareesa’s parents try their best to understand their daughter but Pareesa no longer wants their time or attention because she feels that they were not able to protect her when she needed it the most. Pareesa lives in her own world which has been translated on screen in an interesting manner. Time and again everyone mentions how different Pareesa was as a child which goes to show that her personality changed completely after she was violated. Shehnaz even with all her modern ideas and outlook feels that marriage is the solution to all her daughter’s problems. Shehnaz is the only clichéd character in the drama so far.
Arman’s character proved to be a very interesting addition to the play. He is someone who knew Pareesa when she was a naughty and full of life little girl and even now when she is very different from who she was back then he is still the only person right now with whom Pareesa feels safe. She trusts him with her flowers and feels concerned about him. Mohsin Abbas plays the role of Arman with confidence and he is very well-suited for this role. The promos of the play however suggest that these two people won’t exactly have a “normal” life together.
The only thing which did not quite fit in these two episodes was Kubra Khan’s loud make-up especially because Pareesa’s mother mentions twice how badly she needed to wear proper clothes and put on some make-up. Kubran Khan’s perfectly styled hair and cakey make-up wasn’t in line with her character at all. Other than that she did complete justice to her character by looking as distant, disturbed and awkward as Pareesa should have looked on screen. Pareesa and her parents’ frame of mind and their past and present relationship with each other was shown clearly through different conversations and their interactions with each other. Mehmood and Arman’s characters also got special attention in these two episodes.
So far the interesting cast and plot, a detailed introduction to the characters, the locations (Pareesa’s house and her flower garden) and the mystery surrounding these characters makes Muqabil an interesting play. It is definitely the kind of play which makes you look forward to the next episode and manages to transport you to the world of all the characters whose stories you see unfolding on screen.
How many of you watched these first two episodes? Do share your thoughts about it.
Saba Qamar was previously seen in Lahore se aagey and is a part of an upcoming Indian film ‘Hindi Medium’. Pakistani actors were banned to work in India, post the growing political conflicts between the countries. However, Saba Qamar starer Hindi Medium will possibly release on March 31, 2017.
An Indian website Pinkvilla recently reported that during an interview, When the media asked Irrfan, if Saba is still a part of his film, he didn’t want to get misquoted on the issue and hence joked. He quipped that the actress is now married to an Indian and hence technically is now an Indian.
While the press understood the joke it was somehow made into breaking headlines in Pakistan leaving the actor completely amused. Not just that, but the actor’s joke also landed Saba in some serious trouble. She has been receiving lot of death threats as some people in Pakistan think that she has married an Indian.
According to Pinkvilla a source informed them, “Irrfan joked about the situation so that he doesn’t get misquoted. But he didn’t know that his remark will land Saba in trouble. She has been receiving death threats now and people are actually believing that Saba has married an Indian.”
Ohkay so, this episode sealed the deal for me that this is going to be the last episode of Dhaani that I am going to watch & the last review that I am going to post. I think I want to leave this drama for those viewers who are still enjoying it because as a reviewer, it is giving me absolutely nothing to talk about & it is becoming burdensome for me to tune to it every week when I am so not looking forward to it. I think if I will keep on speaking about it negatively, it will affect those viewers who are still a fan of this drama & still tune to it because they find it a decent entertainment, so I want to stop for their sake & for my sake too. I think the director & the producers should jump with joy that they have crossed the 20th episode mark, because where they have earned some profits, the viewers have lost interest in the show!
Half of this episode was dedicated to some deep & philosophical conversations that were happening between a duo of drunkards Babu Bottle & Sameer & I most certainly had zero interest in listening to them because I knew by not paying heed to their conversations, I won’t be missing much. It is actually amusing to be honest how these guys have become all philosophical after failing at life in general. I know the writer has tried really hard to make Sameer look like a hero but I am not sure if it is because of Sami Khan or the character of Sameer, everything about him is so off-putting & screams lazy to me that I just don’t enjoy watching this character at all.
Dhaani girl, you need to get your act together. As much as I like/liked Dhaani, I am so not a fan of her weird attitude. Dhaani has become this angry bird & is just so unhappy & bitter in general that it is not fun to watch. First off, it was her own mistake that she fell for guy like Sameer who was morally & ethically weak, then it was her mistake where she couldn’t honestly tell her father that she was involved with him, then again it was her mistake that she agreed to get engaged to Amjad, so now if Amjad was trying to have a conversation with her like her fiancé, I just didn’t understand why she was just so bitter about the entire scenario. Yes, I understand she has zero interest in Amjad so obviously she wasn’t thrilled with the idea of meeting him & having a conversation with him, but then again, she herself jumped into this relationship, so why does she expect things to be happening according to her weird mood? Amjad was not wrong in wanting to meet her, so not sure why she was so frustrated about the entire situation?
If Dhaani was heart-broken, she could’ve just said no to Amjad’s proposal so that she could’ve sulked for the rest of her life in stead of listening to her father & agreeing to this engagement. When she knew that she will never be able to respect her father’s decision & will also mistreat Amjad for the rest of her life, so why did she agree to get engaged? Like what good has she achieved or is she achieving out of this messy situation? I just can not believe that a character which started off at such a promising & unique note has come down to this where just because she is heart-broken for weird reasons to begin with, she has lost the will to live!?!?! Grow up girl!
After getting to know that Sameer was residing in the interior Lahore, Riyasat & Rehan tried to turn this scenario into their favor where they believe that seeing how Sameer is mingling with everyone there, people will vote for Rehan, yawn! Not interested once again! For the first time, I was glad that this episode didn’t have the scenes of Raja & co. because they have damaged my eardrums enough already!
I am sure this episode must’ve worked for a lot of viewers & I totally accept & agree that they must’ve had their reasons but just because I am unable to keep my interest alive in the show, everything just seemed so burdensome & boring to me. So, at this stage I am not going to continue any further because even the preview didn’t give me anything to look forward to & I think I’ve had enough of Dhaani. Please share your thoughts!
Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was quite interesting & was done really really well. Also, the preview of the next episode further developed my interest in this drama. It makes me happy that things are moving forward now & we will probably be getting an insight into all the characters & their history a lot more in the episodes to come.
So, Zakia went to meet Zubaria only to tell her that she needs to back off. I must say, I loved the way Zubaria stood up for herself. It is actually quite nice to see such a young girl having so much of pride & dignity & also so much of confidence in herself where she knows that she is not at fault & she hasn’t done anything wrong for which she should feel ashamed, that is why she had the guts to tell Zakia off politely & a bit sternly where she felt that she was crossing the line by dragging Zubaria’s late mother in this mess.
It was good that Ghaziyan not only took a stand for Zubaria but also used that moment to explain everything to his family members. Everything that Ghaziyan said about how he’d be unable to keep Nimra happy was on-point. It was good that Ghaziyan even brought the example of Kabeer & Zakia in between, in a hope that may be it will put things into perspective but sadly, no one budged. I actually thought that Nimra will end up supporting Ghaziyan by seeing his honesty but even she chose to see herself as a victim & Ghaziyan as a villain who was crushing all her dreams with his harsh words. I think of all the people, at least Waris should have understood what his son was trying to say & how he was being honest about everything but sadly, Waris still feels guilty for what his sister Zakia had to go through because of him, that is why he now wants Ghaziyan to compensate & pay the price by becoming a puppet to a control freak like Zakia only to make her happy.
It was actually quite shocking to see that when Waris told Ghaziyan to leave, Zakia just sat there without intervening, as if she wanted Ghaziyan to get punished for daring to hurt her & Nimra. I think Zakia really needs to understand that she has already ruined a lot of relationships, she has drifted apart a lot of family members, so now at least she should be courteous enough to not be so stubborn where it will cost Waris & Ghaziyan their relationship because of her. It was actually quite annoying to see Zakia calling & blaming Gul Zeb for planting the idea of leaving his house in Ghaziyan’s mind, whereas she herself saw that it was Waris who told Ghaziyan to leave, that too in front of her, so how could she blame Gul Zeb for things she wasn’t even aware of? This move of Zakia clearly showed that she is someone who loves to put a blame on others & loves seeing others suffering when she herself mourns how unfair life has been to her. The reason why Zakia hasn’t been able to forgive Kabeer is because he was married & had a child, this was something that the viewers assumed but it was revealed for the first time that this was the actual reason why Zakia chose to get separated from her husband.
The second half of the episode revolved around Nimra & Zubaria & how their friends were trying to cheer them up. Ghaziyan got to meet Zubaria & also made it clear to her that it was not because of Zubaria, but it was because of his own personal feelings for her that he decided to take a stand against the decision of Waris & Zakia where they wanted him to get married to Nimra. It was good to see that Ghaziyan tried to reason with Zubaria, while also trying to make her understand that even though she was the reason why he was doing all that, it was not because Zubaria ever gave him a hint that he should do all of that. There was some sort of clarity in the entire situation where even though both Zubaria & Ghaziyan were not on the same page, their perspectives were clear & they both had genuine reasons to differ to each other. After seeing how persuasive Ghaziyan is, I am sure he will convince Zubaria but it will be a long & bumpy ride!
Overall, this episode was quite interesting. The situations were nice but somehow the acting of almost all the actors seemed a little too forced, especially in the confrontation scene between Ghaziyan’s entire family. Just when I was about to say that I was getting tired of seeing Zubaria/Neha Rajpoot in similar sort of dresses & get up, she pleasantly surprised me with a different hairdo & all-white dress & she looked really pretty. I love how the makeup artist has chosen a very neat & clean no-makeup makeup look for all the girls, it makes them look their age & quite innocent at that. Kinza Hashmi can pull off any color & she looked a little extra pretty in that navy blue shirt, it complemented her brown hair. Uzair Jaswal has improved a lot in terms of acting & I am sure as the episodes will progress, he will keep on better & better. The preview of the next episode has me all excited, I can’t wait to see how the dynamics will change with the entry of Kabeer. Please share your thoughts about this very interesting episode of Moray Saiyaan.
Arshad Khan aka Chaiwala rose to fame with just a picture that went viral. Girls not just in Pakistan but in India too went gaga over his looks and his blue eyes. Social media undoubtedly holds power and made him famous in no time. Arshad Khan recently revealed the news of his debut movie titled ‘Kabeer’ on his official Instagram page. The RM Film, by Meesam Ali and Rachel Khan featuring Arshad, will hit screens in 2017.
The power couple, not long ago announced their engagement and later their wedding card was released online and it was officially confirmed that the duo will get married on December 18. The couple shared their dholki pictures and they both together looked extremely good, not to forget that Urwa looked stunning at her dholki.
The producer of the film Yasir Nawaz had earlier revealed that there are lots of cameo appearances in the film Mehrunisa V Lub u and Amna Ilyas will be one of them. Recent reports suggest that Amna Ilyas has been rolled in to do a song along with Danish Taimor for the film. The shooting for the song has already completed.
Talking to HIP, Amna says the song titled Marhabba is not an item number. “It’s a duet. Danish and I share equal parts in the song and there is a lot of dancing,” she mentions, adding that it took them three consecutive nights to shoot the song. “It was very tiring and we had around 200 background dancers on the sets.”
Marhabba is a desi romantic song and will have resemblance to 90s Bollywood movie Beta’s hit number Dhak dhak. “The song is very upbeat and will set standards, making it difficult for other girls to follow,” concludes Amna.
The Late Legend Junaid Jamshed lost his life in a plane crash on December 7th. All on-board PK-661 lost their lives as the planed crashed near Havelian. Whole nation including the celebrities mourned the tragedy. It has been many days but the pain in the hearts is still very much alive.
Pakistani singer Shehzad Roy released the song to pay an emotional tribute to the victims of the PIA plane crash. He wrote on his Facebook page, “my tribute to all the passengers on flight PK 661, reliving fondest memories of my dear friend and brother Junaid Jamshed.”
Boxer Amir Khans’s wife Faryal Makhdoom had recently shared a series of snaps claiming, her in-laws bullied and physically abused her. Amir Khan’s father Sajjad Khan and his wife Falak both rubbished claims by their daughter-in-law that they mental and physically abused her and said they treated her like their own daughter.
Sajjad Khan told GEO news: “Faryal was adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable. I am a father to two daughters whom I have treated exactly the same way as I have treated Faryal.” Sajjad said he did not say anything to Faryal, but instead asked his son to address the issue with his wife .
“All this started with the issue of dressing. We kept asking Amir to tell her not to adopt such a dress code. And even if she had to wear such dresses, please don’t post it on social media,” he said.
He denied any physical or mental abuse towards Faryal and mentioned that if her claims are true there must be a medical record of the physical abuses. He went on to say he did not know why Faryal decided to make the “false accusations” but they always “made efforts for reconciliation between Amir and Faryal,”
Amir’s mother then spoke and said: “I asked her not to wear such dresses and to take the dupatta (scarf), but she never listened. After that, we asked Amir but he told us to convey this to Faryal’s mother because she does not listen to him either,”
“She will one day claim, that even Amir abuses her,” she concluded
Amir Khan also broke his silence over the accusations aimed at his family by his wife and brushed off the subject as ‘routine matters.’
Earlier, Amir Khan broke his silence over the statements made by his wife Faryal Makhdoom against his family members, he in an apparent attempt to brush off the subject as inconsequential, said Faryal’s comments were taken out of context.
“My wife said something, my sister said something else, these are routine matters,” said Amir Khan.
With the craze of Pakistani Dramas that has grown over the years, the viewers have made a lot of actors a household name. When the viewers put so much of effort in following the actors and their work, they expect those actors to respond back in the same manner by fulfilling the expectations that their fans and followers have with them. Most of the times, it is the actors’ name that attracts the viewership because the fans who are on a look out for their favorite actors’ work deem it as an opportunity to see them on screen.
With the influx of so many dramas, the quality has been compromised upon a lot and that is why, we see our favorite actors working in substandard dramas, which results in a huge disappointment. This is related to those actors who have a huge fan following and are expected to outshine every single time they grace the screen with their presence.
Then comes the category of those actors who have been a part of the industry for a very long time but haven’t been able to leave a mark because of their substandard acting and with them being a part of the drama makes the viewers hard to connect to the characters and their stories.
So, here’s an alphabetically ordered list dedicated to those actors who need to up their game. Some of the actors need to up their game in terms of drama choices that they make and some need to do that in the overall acting and performance that they do because they have been a part of the industry for a considerable amount of time now and its a high time that they improve.
Aisha Khan
Mann Mayal was the worst choice made by Aisha Khan this year. Apart from that she was part of some of the most disastrous dramas like Shert and Tumhare Siwa last year as well. She has upped her game by choosing scripts this year which have more to offer but unfortunately Aisha Khan’s heavy reliance on make-up kills the impact which her brilliant performances can have on the viewers. In the drama Khuda Mera Bhi Hai she plays a different role but her heavy make-up stands out like a sore thumb every time. Aisha Khan can easily up her game right now by letting go of the dependency on make-up and styling especially because now she is part of dramas which have more room for performance. A character actor can never be successful if he or she is not comfortable in their own skin. We hope to see Aisha Khan looking more “real” in her dramas in the future.
Armeena Rana Khan
Armeena Rana Khan is not seen on the small screen very often but she has some very notable projects to her credit; lately she played leading roles in Bin Roye, the film and the drama and also played the lead in the film Janaan. When an actress is part of such big projects the viewers expect the best from her. Armeena Rana Khan’s dialogue delivery and expressions both are misleading to say the least, she needs to work extra hard on her acting as a whole. Also, most of the times Armeena Rana’s over glamorous and cakey make-up is more distracting than appealing. Armeena Rana Khan needs to up her game both in the acting and the looks department. She is already a part of some big projects therefore she is making the right choices but viewers will stop tuning into her dramas if she does not put in the effort needed to make some serious changes in her acting style and decides to let go of glamour.
Hamza Ali Abbasi
Hamza Ali Abbasi’s comeback after Pyare Afzal is the reason why he is in this list. An actor who chooses to do only one drama a year and one who has a huge fan following should be a little more responsible while choosing the projects he works in. Also, Hamza Ali Abbasi’s statement about his film “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani” went to show that he isn’t sure what he wants to do. He needs to think about pros and cons before choosing a certain project so that his heart is in that project. Even in Mann Mayal Hamza Ali Abbasi with his ever-present frown lines looked confused most of the times which suggested that he wasn’t enjoying playing this role.
Hareem Farooq
Hareem Farooq has earned herself a lot of fame in such a short span of time but looks like she struggles a lot when it comes to drama choices. The only good choice that Hareem made was by playing the role of Arjumand in Diyar-e-Dil but apart from that, Hareem chose to be a part of the dramas with the multiple wife themes like Dil-e-Beqarar and Dusri Biwi. In drama serial Sanam, Hareem did try to experiment but unfortunately, her character couldn’t make an impact as much as it should have due to poor writing and direction. Hareem Farooq definitely needs to up her game in terms of drama choices because at this stage, she has a lot of fans who look forward to her work.
Maya Ali
Maya Ali started her career as a supporting actress but in a very short span of time, because of her acting and confidence, she came into the forefront and started playing the main leads in almost every other drama. Maya has quite a few amazing dramas to her credit which made her a household name and she became someone who could sell a drama only with the attachment of her name to it, but due to her recent disastrous choices, she looked eligible to be made a part of this list as well. After a blockbuster drama like Diyar-e-Dil last year, Maya’s fans were eagerly looking forward to Mann Mayal because they thought Maya will blow them away once again with her phenomenal performance, but to add to their woes, it wasn’t the case. Maya is also seen in Sanam these days and it also happens to be a disaster. Even though Maya is a very fine actor, she needs to up her game by being more careful in choosing her projects because right now she has given two flops back to back, which are definitely going to affect her track record. Both these dramas got a recognition because of the fans of the cast but that most certainly doesn’t mean these dramas were successful. Maya also needs to up her game in the emotional scenes because that seems to be the only weak point of her acting.
Saboor Ali
Saboor Ali was part of many dramas this year but none of her performances were up to the mark. Saboor Ali’s biggest flaw is that she tends to overact which makes it look like she is trying too hard. Saboor Ali is a confident actress who should try looking more natural on screen by wearing less make-up and by being more subtle in her performances. Also, she should choose projects which have more room for performance. In Beqasoor and Bhai she was constantly crying, In Teri Chah Mein and Waada she is seen plotting and planning. Saboor Ali’s characters usually lie on the extremes just like her acting skills. She needs to choose better projects, work on her acting skills and wear less make-up.
Sajjal Ali
At such a tender age, Sajjal Ali has garnered a lot of name and fame for herself but sadly, that doesn’t reflect in the choices that she makes when it comes to the dramas. Sajjal Ali is effortless when it comes to acting, but unfortunately, she chooses to get typecast in almost every single drama. There was a time when seeing Sajjal Ali in a promo of a drama sealed the deal that it is going to be a story of a grieving girl as Sajjal stopped experimenting and was offering the same performances to her fans again and again. In the drama Gul e Rana, people expected to see something new from Sajjal but, despite promoting it as a story of a strong girl, Sajjal ended up looking like a bechari who had no way out of her problems. Sajjal Ali has a huge fan following and it definitely calls for experimenting to make her fans happy. Considering how effortless Sajjal is when it comes to acting, she should try her hands on comedy, it will be a refreshing change for the viewers and for herself too.
Sharmeen Kashif
Sharmeen Kashif has just joined the Pakistani drama industry and has bagged quite a few supporting roles in a lot of popular dramas mostly of Hum TV. Since a lot of casting directors seem to be hiring Sharmeen for the portrayal of supporting characters, she most certainly needs to work on her dialogue delivery because it not only seems flat but it also makes her look like she is putting in a lot of effort when it comes to acting. Sharmeen’s acting makes it hard to say that she is a good addition to the drama industry and since she is getting a lot of work, it is highly required for her to up her game in terms of acting.
Ushna Shah
Ushan has been a part of so many projects but as much as her choices have been unimpressive, so has been her acting as well. Ushna Shah really needs to improve on her acting because in every single drama and in every single scene, it looks like Ushna is about to have an asthma attack. Ushna was recently seen in Geo TV’s Thora Sa Aasman and without even looking at the promos and before the introduction of her character, it was evident that she was going to play the role of a home-wrecker. Ushna has been a part of the industry for quite some while now, so if she plans on pursuing her acting career, she should consider taking acting classes for her better future as an actor.
So, here’s the list of all those actors who in our opinion need to up their game, in terms of acting or in terms of drama choices. Please feel free to add more names to the list and share your thoughts about the article.

Ohkay so, honestly speaking, just when I was at the verge of thinking that this episode was definitely better than the previous episodes, it derailed in such a way that made my belief firm that my first impression of Sanam was going to last till the very last episode of this drama because Sanam has nothing to do with logic & sense. It is so so so obvious that the drama-makers are just adding more situations & throwing in unwanted characters to drag a drama because the main motive of this story is to show Aan & Harib’s union, so in order to make that happen, the drama-makers are trying hard to stir the emotions of the viewers by adding in such scenarios which are senseless & are not so gripping to begin with. Harib & Aan are just soooooooo sweet that they give me a toothache, I think they should’ve added a little disclaimer that before & after watching Sanam, viewers need to brush their teeth & I guess Colgate or Sensodyne should’ve powered this drama in stead of Q-Mobile, because that would’ve been more appropriate!
Well, honestly speaking, I find it ridiculous that most of the times Harib is unable to comprehend what is happening around him & when he does, he comes up with the silliest of solutions. Alright, I did like the way Harib was taking care of Shabnam & how he wanted to protect her from getting stressed any further but seeing how calm & composed Aan was, Harib should’ve spoken to her about Farhan the first thing. According to Harib, he kept silent & wanted Shehroz to stay quiet too because he assumed that may be Aan was in ‘love’ with Farhan, so he didn’t want to ruin their relationship? Like seriously? What sort of a twisted logic is this? Harib has spent more time with Aan than Farhan has, also Harib knows that Farhan came out of nowhere in Aan’s life, that too at the recommendation of Sara, so how can he ‘assume’ that Aan ‘loves’ Farhan? Also, if I know that my best friend is going to get married to a man who has been divorced & already has two kids, irrespective of what she feels for him, I would swoop in, in order to save her life because no matter how much a girl is in love, if I would know that she has been kept in the dark about the guy’s past, as a friend, it is my duty to put everything aside & let her know everything about the the reality!!! It is actually quite frustrating how the writer has tried to over-complicate simplest of situations because it is so obvious that they don’t want to end a drama in 16 episodes, so they are just adding such silliest of things to drag the story!!!
Please don’t tell me Shehroz & Aila are living together? Matlab in logon ka koi deen emaan hai ya nahi? Kiss haq se Shehroz is sharing a roof with Aila? Like these drama-makers are besharam or behiss or what? They showed us that Shehroz felt bad for Aila because he thought that Harib was at fault & he was cheating on Aila, so it’s alright, on the basis of humanity, his concerns for Aila were understandable, but ye kahan ki tuk banti hai ke yan to Shehroz ne yan Aila ne aik dusre ko GAUD le liya hai & they are inseparable? It is absolutely SICK & DISGUSTING! Also, I don’t really understand why does Mr. Ping Pong Ball (PPB) get so much of coverage in every single episode? Mr. PPB once again had an INSANIYAT KA DAURA where he started blaming Aila for what she did & how she was the reason behind Aan’s mother being in the hospital, so like what are you doing with her in her home Mr. PPB? How IDIOTIC are you or how DUMB can you be!?!?!?!
Anyways, Mr. Gugu-Bana-Ghunda (GBG) Farhan isn’t only divorced but has 2 kids now, it is funny how the director is revealing ‘awesome’ (read gruesome) details about Farhan one by one in each episode, as if we are so interested to know what Mr. GBG has done in his past? I am so not looking forward to another detail about Mr. GBG being revealed in the next episode because clearly I am not interested. Mr. Gugu couldn’t get the HUG that Aan & Harib shared out of his mind, that is why he kept on taunting Aan & Shabnam, but after a lot of attempts of the writer, Harib got a chance to become a hero & save the day where he shooed Gugu off. The note at which the episode ended was so boring & annoying, like it is absolutely ridiculous that just because Aan & Harib on their own have ZERO SUBSTANCE in their characters & have NOTHING NEW to offer, the drama-makers are giving coverage to these termite sort of characters who are just eating the show-time of the drama. To be honest, we all know that Aan & Harib are a MATCH MADE IN MOHALLA, so why is the director stalling & not getting them married ASAP? Just make it happen alright!!!
The preview of the next episode was such a yawn provoker, looks like these guys will keep on frequenting the hospital now since it looks like Haseeb Hassan thinks it makes his boring drama a lot more dramatic. This time Fatima will be the victim & to be honest, that split second shot was actually quite funny where Fatima attempted to hug the bumper of the car & failed miserably, lol!!! Aila is now a perfect case of Bipolar Bani Bhangi, where she is doing everything that a person under the influence of intoxication would do. Where did her aspect of being Bipolar go? Why was it not covered? Why is it that Aila’s parents despite knowing her mental condition have let her on loose? I think while writing this drama, the writers were too busy thinking about the not-so-important aspects that they forgot to shed a light on the important ones. Harib proved ‘once a bhukkar, always a bhukkar‘ by going like ‘Amman app jaldi shay theek how jayein phil mujhe majjay majjay ke khanay bana bana ke khilain, kyunki mai to hoon hi paidaishi bhooka’, like seriously, that woman just regained her consciousness & there he was pestering her with khanay ki farmaishain like a typical spoiled larka!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam & spare me if you find me in a bad mood, I forgot to make myself a coffee aur upper se yeh, tauba tauba!
Farhan Saeed has been doing many concerts lately and he undoubtedly has a massive fan following. Mannequin Challenge is nothing infamous, It is a viral Internet video trend where people remain frozen in action like mannequins while a moving camera films them. It is quite interesting watching these singers doing something extra ordinary and interesting.
Farhan Saeed is the first Pakistani singer to pull off a mannequin challenge during a live concert.
Soon after, Ali Zafar did the same thing but it all did not ended there because Farhan did it again and this time with a crowd of no less than 5000 people.
Raees has been involved in lots of controversies till date. The film is finally going to release on January 25, 2017 but the speculations are still very much alive. Earlier there were reports of Mahira Khan’s role being fully chopped but her character was very much present in the trailer. Shah Rukh Khan recently told Raj Thackeray (MNS leader), that Mahira won’t be joining him while for promotions of Raees. This all started when the director of the film was quoted saying that there are no governmental restriction on Pakistani actors coming to India and Mahira Khan would be brought to India for promotions if needed. Unfortunately, this did not went well with the MNS leader.
According to the Indian Express, in a meeting that lasted for almost an hour, SRK promised Raj that he will not bring Mahira Khan to India for Raees promotions, nor will he work with any Pakistani actors in the future. Confirming this statement, Amey Khopkar of MNS told Indian Express, “There was news in the media for the past one week that SRK is going to get Mahira Khan to India. But after the meeting, SRK made it clear that Mahira Khan won’t be a part of any promotions for Raees.”
SRK assured Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray that Mahira Khan, in his forthcoming release “Raees” will not come to India for promoting the film. MNS had earlier vowed to stop release of “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” and SRK’s “Raees” which has cast Mahira Khan. While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil managed to get a safe release and Raees was still caught up into the controversy. However, Raees has now finally received Green Signal in India and it is cleared that Mahira Khan will not be going back to India to promote Raees or whatsoever.
Ohkay so, this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat has to be the best episode so far because it was not only well paced, but it was gripping & so captivating that for a viewer like me who knows the story, even I was hooked to it. I must commend the director for adding in all those details that were needed by the viewers to connect to the characters while still maintaining the pace of the drama, otherwise when this season began, I dreaded that all the events that were covered in this episode, might be covered in 3 or more episodes but I am really glad to see the pace of the drama is just so perfect!!!
So, Hammad finally had to face the consequences for going against his family’s wishes. Hammad told his family clearly that they need to propose Imaan on his behalf in front of Molvi Aleemuddin but little did he know, that his family would do things beyond his imagination. If Hammad would’ve had an idea that his family would worsen the matters, he would’ve never relied on them. Hammad actually assumed that his family would sit quietly after saying a thing or two to him but what they did was something that Hammad neither imagined nor expected. Amjad Raza & all the members of his family told Hammad how they were not thrilled with what he wanted but to prove a point further, they insulted Molvi Aleemuddin by conveniently blaming him & Imaan for trapping Hammad.
Molvi Aleemuddin has always lead a life based on the high morals & values, so for a man like him who has always kept his family under the shadows, to hear such demeaning things about his daughter Imaan was overbearing. Molvi Aleemuddin is emotionally attached to Imaan more than he is to anyone, so to hear Imaan’s name getting dragged & being spoken about in such a manner was something that he just couldn’t accept & tolerate. Hammad had no idea that it was not only him who’d have to bear the consequences but it was Molvi Aleemuddin & his family too who’d go through so much of pain, without being responsible for anything & without even knowing what their fault was. All this was just so hard for Hammad to accept that he ended up going to Shakir to seek help from him because he knew that Shakir was the only one who won’t turn a blind eye from him in an hour of need.
Then came the confrontation between Hammad & his family. Hammad was reminded quite clearly that he had no right to choose his life partner. His family made it clear to him that he wasn’t entitled to take such an important decision of his life because it had to be in accordance with their standards but Hammad took the opportunity to burst their bubble & he told them clearly that he was not going to budge. Amjad Raza being someone who has always played with numbers & who has always judged people on the basis of their social standing reminded Hammad of what he was worth without the tag of being Amjad Raza’s son, to which Hammad’s response shook everyone as none of them expected that Hammad would go to such an extreme where he would be ready to leave everything behind!
Hammad left his father’s place & his entire family to step into the practical world where he only had his love for Imaan with him. After walking miles while engrossed in his thoughts, he was reminded of Kamran’s uncle Siddique who worked in Railways & Hammad knew that he’d be the only one who could help him earn something with which he’d be able to support himself at least. Hammad has nothing left in his life, he has left everything behind, right now he might not even have a plan about what he wants to do in his life, but there’s only one thing that remains constant & that is his love for Imaan!
This episode was beautiful in so many different ways. The reaction of Hammad, his nerve to take a stand for what he thinks is right, the purity of his intention & the purity of his love for Imaan, each & everything was conveyed beautifully. I loved loved loved how the director kept on adding different shots & merged it into different scenes, it just added more depth to the situation that was being conveyed. Also, the scene where Abdullah while talking to Molvi Aleemuddin was thinking about Imaan was done really nicely. Abdullah also loves Imaan but he can not bring himself to say it. I think this season is a lot more visually appeasing & is a lot more gripping because of the way it has been directed, it shows how little changes can make such a huge difference. I liked the addition of new characters too & I can’t wait to see how they will add more flavor to the drama. Imran Abbas surely elevated the level of this episode with his phenomenal acting & so did every other actor. Can’t wait to see the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat!

Feroze Khan and Aisha Khan posted pictures with each other which were taken on the sets of their upcoming play. These pictures showed them both having friendly moment on the sets. They were not expecting these pictures to go viral and what came as a shock were the kind of comments people made on these pictures on Social Media.
People hurled out all kinds of insults because of the closeness shared by these stars in the pictures. Feroze Khan posted a video in which he showed his disgust with people’s remarks and questioned all “idiots” who made these comments.
Finally an episode with some emotional scenes to its credit, this episode reminded me of Saba and Irtiza’s chemistry and their relationship which was the main attraction of this drama in the first few episodes. The way this relationship was completely relegated to the background once Saman came into the picture was the most disappointing turn in Bin Roye. The kind of conversations Irtiza and Saba had today should have been a constant part of this drama, this way the viewers wouldn’t have been left wondering if Irtiza really knew Saba or not! Irtiza’s reaction to dadi’s proposal was very different from that of Saba. He refused to marry Saba because he felt he was not good enough for her and not because he could never imagine getting married to her or because he had never thought on those lines. Saba’s refusal and ultimately her decision to get married to Safeer resonated with me a lot more than Irtiza’s overall behavior. His concern for Saba reminded me of the person we had seen in the first few episodes and I wondered why the writer and the directors failed to keep this side of his personality alive. Same is true for every other person in the house for whom Saba was all of a sudden a first priority now that Saman was gone. Although Saman was supposed to be the “perfect” one in this drama and Saba not so perfect but Saba’s flawed personality has always been much more attractive therefore it was easier for me to connect to Saba’s feelings tonight. Also, Saba’s character is the only one in this drama which has been consistent and which has always made sense. Mahira Khan’s flawless performance is another reason why I never had any problem relating to this character.
Safeer’s mother’s “obsession” with getting him married to Saba had to be the most unconvincing and forced development in this latest episode. This is bound to be another marriage which will not work out but I wish there was a better reason why it took place. Safeer is another weak male character in this drama who could have easily avoided this marriage by telling Saba the truth. It was however good to see Saba stepping into this next phase of her life with the objective to move on. The scene in which Saba makes coffee for Irtiza and the one in which Irtiza tell her how much he loved her were the best scenes of this episode.
Although this episode was much better than the last few but I feel that it could have been far more emotionally overpowering if the dialogues were more powerful. The conversations reminded the viewers of the good old days when Saba and Irtiza were closer to each other but the dialogues weren’t as deep and meaningful as one would have hoped for them to be. The relationship between all the characters in Bin Roye leaves a lot to be desired too like when Dadi talks about her love for Saba you can’t help but wonder where this “love” disappeared in between! Same is true for Saba’s relationship with Irtiza. These relationships needed to be explored and shown on screen accurately.
Mahira Khan/Saba is the only reason why I tune into Bin Roye every week otherwise the drama is filled with characters which fail to make an impact. Hamayun Saeed is doing exactly what was expected from him but Irtiza’s character does not have a lot to offer.
