Best performances in Negative Role!

Having variety of characters in a play is important in order to attract audience. It is the responsibility on actors that they understand the nature of character well and give their performance accordingly. The writer might have etched out the character well but if actors don’t give their best towards the character then audience will not enjoy the true feeling of a particular role. On many occasions actors have done justice with their respective role through brilliant performances but on many occasions they have also failed to deliver the requirements of character as well.

Hence actors are awarded if they fulfilled the demand of character provided in the story. Many plays in the past were successful just because of character driven narratives like Pyaray Afzal, Zindagi Gulzar hai, Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan, Bilquess Kaur, Durr e Shahwar, Aunn Zara etc. Different characters in the story gives negative and positive vibes and hence actor will only become successful if he/she can conform according to the demand of character.

In past we have appreciated lots of actors/actresses on their performances in the positive role but recently I came across with some brilliant performances done in negative roles that have actually won the audience attention against positive roles. Obviously the success of negative role is that when audience completely starting hating the character.

Here is the list of those actors who in my opinion had done a commendable job in a negative role.

Jibran as Numair in Chup Raho: In my point of view Jibran truly deserves some special award for his performance in Chup Raho. Jibran no doubt is a gem of Industry as he always do justice with every roles. However if you ask me about his best performance ever then for sure I will say that his negative role in Chup raho was the best one. Jibran without any doubt is a versatile actor and I want him to appear more in high budgeted dramas with good script.

jibran

Sajal as Bisma in Laadon mein palli: Probably the most touched lady, I don’t know why she choose to play such characters that sensualize abuse whether talk about chup raho or khuda dekh raha hai. Sajal Ali is a smart actress who retains acting sense and that’s the reason why she is still in demand despite immense competition. Moreover Sajal Ali had a diverse portfolio and if we talk about her negative roles then her role as bisma in Laadon mein palli was so far the best one. Although the drama was below par and didn’t attract the audience much but Sajal ali was totally outstanding in this play and the attitude she conformed in her character was exceptional. I would love to see her again playing this type of negative role in some other drama.

sajal ali

Yumna as Shazia in Mausam: Where she can act amazingly as a jolly girl in drama serial “Jugnoo”, on the flip side she also possess a talent for performing negative roles beautifully. Yumna Zaidi was not impressive from the start because of the fact she never chose good dramas. Mausam too was also an average drama but in this drama her negative role as shazia was indeed an impressive one. Despite her debut performance in a negative role, Yumna was successful to irritate people through her negative character. Let’s see how Yumna will capture audience hearts in positive roles in future and for this she really needs to work hard in this competitive era.

yumna zaidi

Samiya mumtaz as rasheeda in sadqey tumhaare: Like I previously mentioned in one of my article that in past Samiya Mumtaz had always performed a role of “Dukhyaari Aurat” which definitely had questioned her versatility. To prove audience wrong that she cannot do any other role, Samiya Mumtaz had flawlessly performed the negative role of Rasheeda in drama serial “Sadqey Tumhaare”. Well I have not watched the whole drama but even by watching only few episodes anyone can pass a remark that she was indeed brilliant.

Sadqay-Tumhare-Episode-16-23rd-January-2015

Sarah Khan as Farisa in Alvida: Entering in showbiz in 2012 Sarah Khan had never impressed me as an actress. I used to think that either she needs to speak loudly or work on her dialogue delivery. Also before drama serial “Alvida” she was never a part of any Mega Projects. Currently her negative performance in “Alvida” had totally left me speechless. She had done absolute justice with the character Farisa. Sarah Khan finally proved herself that she is not a novice in Industry and can stunned audience from her performance if given a chance in high budgeted dramas. Sarah Khan is currently dominating the Industry by performing in various dramas Alvida, sultanat e dil, Mumkin anda dil nahi manta.

So do you have any more names who had a done tremendous job in a negative role?

Aamir Liaqut angry over his parody

Aamir Liaqut Hussain is a famous media personality in our country and his shows are known for their high TRPs. His programs are widely viewed at least in those 800 (approx.) households with people meters in our total population of 190 million, which decide the TRP. More than 50% of these 800 households are located in Karachi.

Aamir Liaqut Hussain has recently concluded his morning show Subh Pakistan and game show Inaam Ghar both on Geo Tv. Aamir Liaqut is expected to return on television screen in the coming month of Ramazan. Before that, he might also appear in Shabe Mairaj and Sahbe Barraat special transmission of Geo Tv

Few weeks ago Samaa a Karachi based news channel aired a parody of Aamir Liaqut Hussain in a show hosted by Azfar Ali. Here is the video

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2pssxm_this-show-is-the-reason-of-aamir-liaquat-threatens-samaa-tv-and-his-team-must-watch_news

In response Aamir Liaqut Hussain, expressed his discontent over this parody. As per Aamir Liaqut, Karamatullah Ghamro the producer of Sammaa TV has a personal grudge with him.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2ppwoq_aamir-liaquat-blasted-on-samaa-tv-for-doing-his-parody_news?start=0

Though on the same forum I, many times have criticized the programs of Aamir Liaqut Hussain. But here what Aamir Liaqut Hussain saying is partially right, parody of any person should be within limits and all the channels must have some code of conduct.

The trend of parody is quite old phenomena on television, it got popular with parodies of artists by Bushra Ansari and Moeen Akhtar in the 1980’s. Then in 1980’s the parodies performed by Bushra Ansari and Moeen Akhtar were praised for their decency.

After a quiet 90’s the parodies re-emerged on our screen with the arrival of private satellite channels. Among these Geo News headed the race of parodies with its program Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain (HSUSH)The program aired parodies of politicians, sports persons, anchors, journalists and artists and it is still aired twice a week. Sadly the decency associated with the parodies of 80’s was missing in HSUSH. The parodies of Late Benazir Bhutto and Meera were quite degrading and insulting. So it was the Geo News which started this sad trend of degrading others in the name of parodies beyond anylimits.

If Aamir Liaqut Hussain thinks that such things are crossing limits, then why not start cleansing this sad trend from your home channel. Geo still airs programs like HSUSH and BNN, so why can’t the content of both these program be curtailed within limits as per the wordings of Aamir Liaqut Hussain as a role model for other media houses.

Alvida – Episode 14

I must say that Shehzad Kashmiri’s direction has given this drama the edge it needed to stand out in the crowd. The beautifully shot scenes which are perfectly timed actually help understand the characters even better when they don’t say much. The fact that the camera focuses on a character only for as long as it is needed really helps because I have watched many dramas in which a scene loses its significance and does not hold your attention only because the camera stays on a certain character for much longer than needed. Short but significant scenes like the one in which Haya is sitting on the stairs waiting for Haadi but runs to her room when he comes and peeps out of her door to take one look at him, Haadi’s body language and expressions after Farisa asks him to sleep in the other room and so many more went to show that sometimes less is more! The way the actual feelings of the characters were shown in this manner and the feelings which they were faking were conveyed through dialogues was a very nice mix. The essence of those hidden feelings would have been lost if the scenes showing them were not shot the way they had been shot.

6 8

It was quite evident in tonight’s episode that Haadi too knows only too well that He and Haya are meant to be together but the odds are against them. Haadi is married and Haya is about to get married – non of that makes sense because Haadi does not love Farisa and Haya has no such feelings for Rameez either but since both of them know that there is no way that both of them can be together therefore they need to move on. Haadi does not even want to admit that he has feelings for Haya because he is married and has a child. Unlike the last episode in this episode we saw Haadi convincing Haya to go ahead with the marriage which meant that Rameez’s hard work was paying off! Haadi is finally convinced that Rameez will keep Haya happy therefore he no longer has a problem with Haya marrying him. Farisa and Saim are getting close to the point that Farisa does not feel the need to work on her relationship with her husband any more. Haadi and Farisa are constantly finding ways to hurt each other.

2 3

Haya’s room was beautifully decorated, very esthetically pleasing as usual! It was weird though that someone as liberal as Haya’s Tayee was confining her to a room like that. I wouldn’t have expected someone like Haya to go along with such an idea but apparently she did not have a problem with being a traditional bride.

The highlight of this episode had to be the way Haya and Haadi’s feelings for each other were shown; they found it impossible to let go of each other. Also the manner in which Rameez’s insecurities were highlighted in this episode went to show that he had the sort of connection with Haya that he could understand that all was not good yet he was willing to take the risk. Haya’s conversation with her Tayee showed what she was really feeling but she would never admit her true feelings in front of anyone else except Haadi.

11 13

Sanam Jung looked very pretty and acted exceptionally well all through tonight’s episode. Imran Abbas made me feel for Haadi’s character which is actually shaping out to be good! Sara Khan and Zahid Ahmed are performing their roles really well. The scene in which the Khala was checking out how heavy the gold set was made me laugh! Where was Haya’s Taya in this episode?

14 15

The preview of the next episode showed that Haya will soon find out that she made a huge mistake by getting married to someone she did not love. Moving on is not that simple and getting married does not solve any problems but it creates more problems. Rameez expects Haya to love him…will she be able to do that when she still has feelings for Haadi?

Overall, this episode of Alvida yet again made it very easy for me to relate to all the characters and I can’t wait to find out how the story unfolds in the upcoming episode. Thank you Samira Fazal, Shehzad Kashmiri and all the actors who are part of this show for keeping us hooked to Alvida till now.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Zee Zindagi In Trouble For Airing Dastaan

0

When Dastaan went on air the Pakistani viewers more than the Indian ones could somewhat see why this drama might not be a hit amongst the Indian viewers. The news that there have been several complaints lodges against Zee Zindagi for airing this drama to the authorities does not come as a surprise at all. Drama Serial Dastaan aired with the title “Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam” few weeks ago on Zee Zindagi. The drama was edited a great deal to make it look like a tragic love story but that trick did not work. The Indian people still see it as the Pakistani version of the partition which makes India look bad.

dastan

While talking to an Indian newspaper Zee Zindagi spokesman said, “The soap could be set against the backdrop of any country that underwent the harsh reality of Partition. The show was telecast as Dastaan in Pakistan and we have made necessary changes to telecast it for the Indian audience. We have followed all broadcast guidelines.”

dastan1

We don’t know for sure whether the authorities will ask the channel to take the drama off air completely or ask them to edit it even further. The final decision will be taken on May 22nd.

Drama serial Dastaan which was an adaptation of Razia Butt’s novel “Bano” starred people’s favorite stars Fawad Khan and Sanam Baloch. The Play was a huge hit when it aired in Pakistan and was given many awards. It is now considered a classic.

What will be the fate of Dastaan in India? It remains to be seen!

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 09!

Hmmmm!!! I am actually not sure what to say about this episode of Diyar-e-Dil as in how to say it. This episode was done so well but it marked the exit of our favourite character Suhaib. This episode was just so emotional & I still am trying to gather myself. I love this play for the fact that each & every situation strikes a chord every single time because the crux of it is conveyed so beautifully that you just can’t help getting engrossed in it. I must commend the director for giving such a beautiful picture to an equally beautiful script.

Suhaib knew something big was about to happen. He knew that he needed to take a few steps before he left because his intuition was warning him of something unavoidable. He could predict but he couldn’t prevent that is why he was so particular as he could feel that’s the only time he would get to spend with his family. An outing with the whole family, a heart-to-heart conversation with Arjumand & Agha Jaan made his journey complete. He died after doing all that he has done his whole life & that was giving an utmost attention to his family. He got to spend time with his children, he got to know how content his wife was with him & in the end, he succeeded in convincing Agha Jaan to overrule his word & welcome Behroz back in his life as he knew, his departure will leave a void which now only Behroz would be able to fill. Suhaib did reunite his father & his brother but what’s sad is that where Suhaib slept peacefully that night with a feeling of victory, knowing what he has done what was right, he has now left a lot of regret in his brother’s life & has left a dent in Agha Jaan’s heart which can’t be mended.

I loved the conversations Suhaib had with his wife, it showed the transparency they both shared where he also told her about the meeting he & Laila had. I couldn’t help draw a comparison between their relation & the relation Behroz & Ruhina share because they might’ve begun their lives on the basis of love, they lack the strength & emotional dependency on each other whereas both Suhaib & Arjumand didn’t have the factor of love in their lives when they got married, their relation grew to be perfect & was so strong that they both had nothing but honesty to offer to each other. I loved the way Suhaib talked so highly of Arjumand in front of Laila, it showed how much of a high regard he had of his wife & how much he truly he loved her.

The conversation Suhaib had with Agha Jaan obviously set the grounds for what will & what should happen next. All he wanted was for Behroz to know that he had no such plans which he accused Suhaib of & he wanted Agha Jaan to not only forgive but accept Behroz wholeheartedly as he wanted all the misunderstandings to subside because Suhaib proved it time & again that the only thing that mattered to him the most was his whole family. His whole life revolved around his family; his people which is why he wanted to complete the family picture by mending the broken ties of Agha Jaan & Behroz. I absolutely loved the reactions & the replies of Agha Jaan too. I also felt bad for him because Behroz is so big on his ego that now it had to be Agha Jaan again, who was supposed to ask him to come back. Yes, Behroz did try once, but that’s it! I feel he should’ve tried harder but sadly, he is a weak person who let his ego rule, rather ruin his whole life.

I know it is supposed to be that way, Behroz will spend the rest of his life in deep sorrow & regret but then I find his character unforgiveable. He may indulge in a deep sense of regret, he may now do everything that Suhaib wanted & he may do everything to please Agha Jaan but somehow I don’t think I’ll be able to like his character ever. Seems like Ruhina spends a lot of time ‘chatting’ with her Bhabhi-love. If she had spent half as much time on her husband as much as she spends in paying attention to her Bhabhi, she would’ve been able to understand what Behroz was going through every single day of his life. It seems that Ruhina kind of feels relieved when Behroz doesn’t let her know what he is feeling because then she then goes back to her bubble of perfect life without having to worry about anything.

I don’t know how many times I’ve used to word ‘love’ in this review but yes; I absolutely loved the way things were told. I obviously hated seeing an end to Suhaib’s character but the way they took us through that journey was beautiful, emotional & heart-wrenching; all at the same time & this is what I have always loved about Diyar-e-Dil; the way they complete every scenario by giving us that extra something to connect to & relish.

It goes without saying that the acting of every single one of them was spot on. Abid Ali conveyed the feelings of a grieving father to a T. Ali Rehman was remarkable in this episode as well especially because he was able to carry that sad look in his eyes even though he was trying to act all normal & happy, he totally nailed it. Everything about this episode was perfect except for the fact that the Chaandi on Ruhina’s hair kept on disappearing & reappearing in different scenes. So far I believe Sanam Saeed is a weak addition to the lot because when a certain star name gets associated with a character, you tend to expect a lot but so far, she hasn’t delivered & looks like it will remain this way & oh, I think Osman Khalid Butt doesn’t need this amount of makeup. He naturally has a good face, so yes, a little touch ups are understandable because they’re a demand of the camera but he doesn’t need to have a heavy-hand on the makeup as it makes his face look expressionless. I am sure he has done an amazing job as far as the acting is concerned, so for that I can’t wait to see more interactions between Wali & Faarah. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil & let me know how emotional did you guys get because I cried a bucket. :/

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Junaid Jamshed Speaks Up About How Much Aamir Liaquat Hurt Him

0

Aamir Liaquat has always been very vocal about everything which he thinks is wrong in the society or even with a fellow colleague. That is why when Junaid Jamshed committed a mistake he did not take long to react. When he reacted his statement on live TV was very harsh. He called Junaid Jamshed’s dead mother names and said so many other things to him. Junaid Jamshed was heart broken even at that time not only because of what Aamir Liaquat said but also because even when he begged the public to forgive him they did not.

Junaid Jamshed had to leave the country because there was threat to his life but he has obviously not forgotten what happened. On Mother’s Day Junaid Jamshed’s tweet proved that Aamir Liaquat’s statements about his mother had hurt him and his family very badly.

Shart – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, seems like all the desperadoes gathered at one place to make this Shart work but they have fallen flat completely. Till now I do not understand the purpose of this drama because the story is so hideous that it makes me cringe every single time.

I am glad that Sherry aka Desperado was taken care of within these 2 episodes because he didn’t deserve more screen time than that. If they really thought that by showing a confused desperado like him, they’ll be able to bring out some comedy in the serial through his predicament then they were hugely mistaken. His scenes were anything but funny.

More than anyone else, I have started to have doubts about Afroz’s IQ & mental capability because seems like she’s blessed with an attention span of a poodle. Did she really think that by using a cartoon like Sherry, she’ll be able to move Moomal & hitch her up with him? Afroz tries to show that she is Moomal’s well-wisher & wants to see her friend settled down & happy but she really needs to broaden her vision & wisdom as she is only making a fool out of herself. I think now it won’t be so hard for us to see her getting hurt in the end because she herself is inviting all the hardships on her sorry being.

Emaad, on his own is wrong too. Even though he has clearly heard the girls talk about the bet, he is still in a denial & is trying to make sense out of something senseless & baseless scenario. Does he really think that Moomal is interested in him? I really think he is just brain-feeding himself that yes, he is so amazing that Moomal is dying to be with him but then again, it makes me question his IQ as well because even after knowing everything about the BET, he is still thinking on those lines. His self-utterances were nauseating because he actually feels Moomal wants to be a part of his life as much as he wants her to be a part of his. How can even after knowing the truth he can think about convincing Afroz; his wife to allow him to have the luxury of dusri biwi in his life!?!?! He knows clearly that Moomal is playing a game & Afroz is a part of it as well, so why can’t be gather himself & maintain his composure & dignity? Why is he allowing all this to sway him?

Even though Emaad feels guilty & wanted to maintain a distance from Moomal, Afroz didn’t let that happen because she is too focused on the bet that she doesn’t care one bit about what her husband is going through & the battle he is fighting within. Yes, even though Emaad would be wrong to go behind Moomal & fall prey to her trap but I think more than him, Afroz would be at fault & she’ll be the one I’ll put blame on because she gambled her life & put her marriage on stake just for the sake of a soul-less friend which is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, so it only took a 101⁰ fever & a boss’s refusal for Sameer to get back to his senses where he is missing Moomal. I think Syed Jibran has been wasted in this drama, I mean such a nominal character could’ve been played by someone else because he has nothing much to offer anyways. I think he should go back to Pakistan ASAP to see what his wife is up to & how she is wrecking someone’s home & oh, I just can’t tell how disappointed I am seeing Ayesha Khan play such an awkward role. This lady has a reputation & a good one at that, so why did she put it at stake to appear in such a drama? I really thought she knew better than this. Share your thoughts please.

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai – Episode 10

“Tum shadi ko buzurgu ka khel nahi samajti aur laga ke tum beti hu, rassi se bandhi hui bakri nahi ho” I love the way this drama questions the age old tradition of forced arranged marriages. Many of the dialogues in tonight’s episode made it quite clear that the writer is out to prove a point! In this day and age forcing girls to marry men they are not even remotely attracted to and expecting girls to fall in love with men who are just not their kind is something which is actually expected from numerous girls in our society and many of them like Afia Begum spend a lifetime with men like Noor Mohammad. Afia Begum’s conversation with Zulekha in tonight’s episode revealed a side of her which we had not seen till now. All this time the viewers were made to believe that Afia was dead against Zulekha getting married to Imran Mugheez only because this marriage would have hurt her ego but that is not the case. Afia knew that her daughter couldn’t possibly fall in love with someone like Imran Mugheez and she did not want Zulekha to lead the life she had been living.

Imran Abbas has been brilliant as Yousuf so far, he is very convincing and makes Yousuf’s character very likeable. Yousuf’s expressions when Zulekha called him and his dialogues later on in the restaurant went to show that he is an ordinary man who only has all this confidence because he is in love. Yousuf’s confidence was boosted even more when he found out that Zulekha loves him as well. Yousuf’s reaction when Zulekha says “hamare pass” was spot on, it was almost as if for a second he couldn’t help but wonder when did Zulekha and Yousuf become “hum”! The pauses all through their conversation on the phone and Imran Abbas’ expressions showed just how “heran” Yousuf was. Daa Ji and Hajra’s presence in the scene made it even better. The fact that our hero and heroine have these two wonderful people in their lives who they can depend on makes everything even better. When Yousuf and Zulekha met Hajra’s expressions said more about the consequences of what Zulekha was proposing than anything else. Zulekha knows that her father will never agree to the proposal but she still wants Yousuf’s parents to visit just once. Yousuf and Hajra however seem to be dead against any other options. The dialogue “court mei marriage nahi hoti zillat hoti hai” pretty much summed up how Yousuf feels about that option.

mnyh2

I am not a big fan of Maya Ali but I thought she acted really well in the previous episode and in this one too. I like Zulekha much more now that she is in love with Yousuf, we all know that she is not using Yousuf but really wants to be with him. Dialogues like “waise mei kisi ko takleef nahi de sakta lekin Imran Mugheez ko kidnap kiya tu laga koi sawab ka kaam krne laga hu.” “jis ko mohabbat kehte hein na Zulekha vo mard ki nasl dekh kr hoti hai shakal dekh kr nahi.” have Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar written all over them. The way Imran Mugheez acted after gaining consciousness was hilarious. It is not easy to shoot such comic scenes but Mehreen Jabbar and the actors involved did complete justice to it. Afia Begum wants Ali Hamza out of the way now that he is not needed any more. The way she asked him to leave was not very polite but then I didn’t expect anything different from Afia! Yousuf’s step mother’s character is anything but stereotypical which is very refreshing. Although Yousuf is not yet convinced if his step mother genuinely loves him but it is plain to see that she wants to see Yousuf happy.

This was another engaging episode of Mera Naam Yousuf Hai that makes you happy and sad at the same time. There were scenes that made me laugh and others which made me wonder where Zulekha and Yousuf’s love story was headed. Yousuf’s conversation with the policeman definitely reminded me of Khalil!

The preview of the next episode looked very interesting. I am eagerly waiting to find out how Afia and Yousuf’s father are related to each other.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Pakistani Actresses With The Most Beautiful Smiles

0

Smile is something much more than merely an expression on the face, it is that special expression that has been the centre of attention right from the time human race started. Poets have talked about it and beauticians lay special stress on it. Lee Mildon once rightly said, “People seldom notice old clothes if you wear a big smile.” This means that smile is a natural accessory which cannot only make a person look more beautiful but it also has the quality of brightening up someone’s day. A person with a sweet smile often leaves a first good impression on people too. In showbiz looks count just as much as talent so having a beautiful smile is an additional plus which many of our actresses are blessed with. Not all of these smiles are all natural, some of them might have resorted to surgery or other procedures to perfect their smiles but at the end of the day what matters is how they smile today!

Here is the list of five Pakistani actresses with the most beautiful smile.

Ushna Shah

Ushna Shah has a beautiful smile but unfortunately she usually plays roles in dramas which require more crying than laughing or smiling! However, when one looks at Ushna Shah’s pictures from her photo shoots , it is really apparent that she has a beautiful smile which brightens her face. Those dimples add to the beauty of her smile.

Pakistani Actresses With The Most Beautiful Smiles

Sanam Jung

Sanam Jung’s smile can surely make anyone’s day because it is the kind of smile which is contagious. When you see this beautiful actress smile you can’t help smiling yourself.

sanam

Sarwat Gillani

Sarwat Gillani has the perfect teeth which are not always necessary for a pretty smile but in her case they most certainly help! Sarwat’s smile brightens up her face and shows that this talented actress does not feel the need to hide her beautiful smile.

sarwat

Hania Amir

Hania Amir can easily be termed as the most innocent looking actress of our drama industry with an equally sweet smile. When Hania smiles it comes straight from the heart and that is the best thing about her smile.

Pakistani Actresses With The Most Beautiful Smiles

Alishba Yousuf

When Alishba smiles you know that she means it! It is so important to smile with your whole heart. Alishba never holds her smile back which is why we love her wide smile which is so full of life. She has what we can surely call a genuine smile which can truly lift up your spirits.

alishba yousuf

Mehwish Hayat

We all love Mehwish’s smile because it is very cute. Mehwish always looks like a happy go lucky person with a great deal of positivity which is why her smile is so lovable.

Sana Javed

Sana Javed puts her best face forward when she smiles that is why she is second on our list. Sana has a radiant smile which goes great with her innocent looks.

Mawra Hocane Supports Salman Khan

0

Mawra Hocane’s love for Bollywood stars is not a secret but no one knew that it wasn’t just Ranbir Kapoor who had a special place in Mawra’s heart but she is a big fan of Salman Khan. Yesterday Salman Khan was convicted in a hit and run incident which will cost him five years in prison. The news has taken India by storm. Many of the actors there are disappointed with the court’s decision and they support Salman Khan.

6 7

There hasn’t been much of a reaction from most Pakistani stars but Mawra is an exception. Mawra took to twitter to show her support for Salman Khan. She thinks that even if with this jail term Salman Khan will always be a hero in her eyes because he isn’t only a hero on the cinema screen but he is a real life hero too who saves lives on daily basis. Salman Khan is well known for his contribution to various charities and that is what Mawra is pointing towards.

Here are the tweets in which Mawra showed her admiration and support for Salman Khan:

Alvida – Episode 13

I have absolutely no complaints with tonight’s episode. Everything was covered really well in this episode and I absolutely loved the way the characters are developing. Haadi definitely feels a lot more than just care and concern for Haya. He knows that Haya is that special someone who he will never be able to replace and letting her go isn’t easy for him at all. Haya has also picked up on how Haadi is feeling therefore she expects him to take a very active part in her wedding in every way possible. I felt like Haya was only asking Haadi to do the shopping and every other thing for her wedding because she wanted to push him to the point where he will feel the same way Haya felt when he got married. Haya does not even like Rameez in that way that is why she said to Haadi that in this marriage there would definitely be 50 percent love. That 50 percent of course will come from Rameez!

It was good to see Rameez talking to Haya about their skype conversation which Farisa took over and changed the whole course of the conversation. Rameez knows that Haya is not sure even now but he is willing to go ahead with the marriage because he is very desperate to have Haya in his life. The half-hearted approval does not bother Rameez. Rameez’s character is shaping up to be very interesting so far. He appears to be the sort of person who will never judge Haya. His reply to Farisa’s comment about Haya not calling Haadi bhai made it look like he did not have a jealous bone in his body. Haadi on the other hand is having a very difficult time giving the same kind of warm welcome to Rameez. Rameez’s interactions with Haadi came as a pleasant surprise and for once I felt like Rameez was that perfect man every girl would want to marry. Rameez puts Haadi’s choice first not only because he likes his choice but also because Haya gives so much importance to Haadi’s likes and dislikes. Rameez seemed like a perfect family man today who would try his best to be as close to his wife’s family as he can. Rameez’s family however was missing in action yet again but he seemed to make up for their absence. The weakest point in Rameez’s personality however seems to be his inferiority complex. He feels like he does not deserve Haya or perhaps that he is not good enough for her.

Farisa and Saim are getting closer with every passing day and Farisa seems to be turning to Saim for solace every time Haadi puts her down just the way Haadi turns to Haya. It looked like Farisa wanted her marriage to work out now that Haya was out of the way but she is not willing to try hard enough especially when just like Haadi she has a “friend” to turn to. It is most likely that this friendship will lead to something much more. Saim kept on reminding Farisa in a subtle manner how different her life would have been with him because he knew her so well.

I am glad that Saadi is back in the picture. He is still a baby which means that not more than six months have elapsed since Haadi and Farisa got married. The confusion regarding the timeline unfortunately remains a constant. The way Haya reacted when she entered her room made it look like she hadn’t been to that room for years although she was there when she came back to her house after finding out about Aroosa’s death. Haadi has been taking good care of Haya’s things but he did not feel the need to tell Haya that. Rameez might be impressed by Haadi but Haadi does not think very highly of him at all probably because he thinks he is not good enough for Haya.

Haya’s scenes with her tayee were one of the best part of tonight’s episode. It was good to see both of them bond and it looked like this was where Haya belonged. I must say that the conversations in tonight’s episode gave a clear insight into what is actually going on in the minds of the characters. When I was done watching this episode there was absolutely no ambiguity as to where each character stood. All of these characters have come a long way since the first episode and they are still growing. For the first time tonight Rameez and Haya looked good as a couple and Sanam Jung was glowing in the mayon scene. The chemistry between all the actors coupled with some very convincing performances made this episode extra special and I really like the way the story is being taken forward. I hope that it stays this way.

The preview of the next episode looked promising therefore I am definitely looking forward to what Alvida has in store for us.

Do share your thoughts about this latest installment.

Karb – Episode 1

0

This Monday we got to see the much publicised first episode of Hum Tv’s new drama; KARB starring Adnan Siddiqui and Armeena Khan in lead roles. The drama seemed more of an eye candy than any serious stuff, which is actually ok. You need dramas like this to put your feet up and relax with. I’m a little disappointed with the cast, Adnan Siddiqui is a wonderful actor but looks a bit old for this character especially because Armeena looks and behaves a little more immaturely than she usually does in this play :)

Mostly we are just introduced to characters and shown two different households with very different set of values and rules. Hamza (Adnan) is a very mature and grounded man, determined to help out his family from the financial crisis they are in. Hania (Armeena) on the other hand doesn’t have any such problem. They seem very well to do and every single person refers to themselves as *hum*. I didn’t know people still speak like that. Her dad seems to have nothing much to do except looking after the well being of his wife and daughter and preparing them fresh drinks in the morning. Another eye opener that men like him still exist :)

A fresh breath was the way Saba Faisal was so easy on her daughter in law too; doesn’t mind her watching TV rather than cooking. A very different scenario from typical dramas. So glad about it.

Hania’s friend Noor ul Ain is Hamza’s younger sister and the exact opposite of Hania. While we saw Hania everywhere like on the trees, in the park, on the roof, at her friend’s terrace, Ainaa is found either in the kitchen or elsewhere in the house cleaning :)

In spit of all these differences, Hania is very much infatuated with Hamza who is least bothered about this fact. He wants a mature, sensible, caring and homemaking woman, none of which can be said about Hania so we can duly predict the trouble that is coming both their ways as the play will unfold.

Hamza’s sister Alia is shown to be a very domestic and loyal wife to her currently jobless husband Afaq. I don’t know if it’s just me or not but Alia and Afaq look quite aged for their roles too. Maybe they have been married for fifteen or so years and did not have a child. If we get to see that sometime, then I’ll understand but right now I gather they are just shown a few years into marriage.

Looking forward to Armeena’s tactics to get the proud owner of Tiger to notice her. It’s going to be a fun drama, interesting in the way of just enjoying rather than any real theories coming out of it.

Maryam – Episode 6

0

This episode of Maryam was sad, interesting but predictable. What I feared about Ibrahim Shah became true and he left this world without telling Aman all that he had realised about Firdous Begum.

Amman’s sadness was very well played by Faisal Qureshi. Here is a man who has lost his one and only real parent and that too so suddenly. On top of all that, his stepmother starts accusing Maryam right on the funeral day and asks Aman to throw her out of the house which ofcourse he doesn’t do. Amman’s aggression towards Sheraz was also very natural. Sheraz was crossing his limits and Aman knows how to protect his wife from ill treatment.
Firdous Begum is so versatile that on one hand she is a today’s woman with an insight into business and style and yet she is the typical age old model of a mother in law who can go to any extent to trouble her bahu; calling her manhoos and playing the victim in front of her son. Speaking of which, she is so harsh and manipulative even towards her real son’s wife.

The lawyer and property scene was so predictable and been played so much before in so many movies that it made no impression at all. Thankfully they didn’t make more of a drama out of it in the drawing room as seen so many times before. The will obviously is false and everybody knows it but their best bet is Aman’s decency which he proved again by accepting the will despite Maryam’s objections. Their relationship is portrayed very well, with Aman being so polite and patient that Maryam doesn’t argue much with him, despite being very verbal about the unfairness of it all. That’s precisely why she doesn’t want her father to interfere after sharing her concerns with him. I’m not a very big Mawra Hocane’s fan but she is looking genuinely pretty in this play and acting out the part of Maryam very well.
The stand off between Aman and Behram wasn’t really meaningful at the moment but I think it’s paving a way to show the extent of jealousy Behram keeps in his heart, with which he will bring about the turning point in Aman’s life and his marriage. I’m curious wether Maryam’s in laws will also have a part in it or not.

The angle which I’m not the least interested in at all is Salman’s interest in Noor and after seeing Salman’s mom, I wonder why would Maryam want her sister to be involved in such a family. She is certainly not shown to be as cunning as to plan their union to get Salman on her side rather than his mom. No that’s not Maryam. So I wonder why. Maybe we’ll have an answer in the upcoming episodes as to the part Salman’s infatuation will play.

Would love to hear your views about the episode xxx

“No One In Bollywood Forces You To Be Bold” – Mawra Hocane

0

Mawra Hocane talked about her recent experience with the Bollywood producers and directors in Farah Hussain’s Morning Show. Mawra Hocane made it very clear that she is not going to do any such acts in her films which will be unacceptable for her Pakistani fans. She said that this is not the first time she was offered a Bollywood film but this was the first time that she chose to be a part of the Bollywood venture because every time she got an offer the sentiments and expectations of the viewers in Pakistan were at the back of her mind.

mawra 5

Mawra Hocane said that no one in Bollywood forces you to be bold, it is the choice of the actor what kind of script he wants to do. She also said that she found the producers and directors very cooperative, if you are not comfortable with a scene they will have no problem chopping it down. Mawra also told Farah that Indians had seen the Pakistani dramas now because of which they have a clear idea what the limit of Pakistani actors are so they too do not expect them to cross these limits unless someone is willing to do so.

mawra

The talented actress said that she does not have a competitive nature at all. She never works to compete with other actresses but only to give her work her best because that is what she wants to do. Does Mawra feel threatened by all the divas in Bollywood? The answer is not at all! Mawra thinks that the Pakistani drama industry was full of gifted actresses too when she started working but she made her mark here so why can’t she do the same in Bollywood.

Here is a part of Mawra’s interview in which she talked about her experience in Bollywood:

Mawra sounds very positive and we have very high hopes from her. The poster of her first Bollywood film will be out at the end of this month before that happens Mawra does not want to give any details to anyone. We wish the beautiful actress all the best.

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 08!

…& the awesomeness prevails. I am so glad that finally HUM TV has given us a promising drama which is perfect in so many ways. All the situations, all the emotions & all the characters are just so realistic that you can’t help forming a connection with them. I think Farhat Ishtiyaaq has done a brilliant job in giving us such a simple yet amazing story & for that we’re obliged.

The transition & the progress of the story couldn’t have come at a better time. I believe they took a decent amount of time to set the grounds for what will happen ahead that’s why now it feels like we’re ready to see what more do they have in store for us. I like how they didn’t keep even a single detail from getting covered because it now gives us a clear picture of so many aspects.

I liked the way the characters of Wali, Faarah, Zarmeenay, Moeez & Erum were introduced but I also liked the fact that even though the focus was shared by all these characters, the elderlies are still running the show. It was just so evident that Wali is a carbon copy of Suhaib. He is just as compassionate & responsible like Suhaib was when he was of Wali’s age. The only difference is that Wali is the eldest son which is why being responsible comes to him naturally but as far as Suhaib is concerned, he was youngest but he still did what any responsible person would do to keep his family together in one place. I loved the relation both Agha Jaan & Wali share. It is pretty obvious that Agha Jaan still has a dent in his heart because of Behroz’s absence but that place is somewhat filled by Wali’s presence in his life. I loved seeing Suhaib, Arjumand, Agha Jaan, Wali & Zarmeenay in one frame because they make a picture perfect family that is content with each other, relies on each other & is complete in so many ways.

Collage 1

Behroz has done well for himself & his family. Going by how Faarah is, it seems that Behroz has given her an edge to allow her heart to steer the course of her life. Obviously, what Behroz went through is something he doesn’t want his only child Faarah to go through as well that is why; he has given her something which he couldn’t get & that is freedom. For now I liked Faarah’s character a bit more in comparison to Wali’s because she may be blunt & spoiled in a way but she has that child-like innocence to her which draws you towards her.

Just like Suhaib said, Faarah is naturally inclined to & is very keen to know about Behroz’s family but what Ruhina said also made some sense this time around. In front of Faarah, she sketched them in the same perspective that she has based on the first & the last encounter she had with them. However, going by how much time has passed, I really thought we’d get to see them all a bit loosened up but seems like both Ruhina & Behroz have bottled up that bitter memory which is why, they can’t seem to forget anything related to that & haven’t moved on at all.

I still feel a lot for Suhaib. Even though he compromised in his life & somehow found a way to just be happy with what he got, he still doesn’t deserve to get rebuked by Behroz time & again. It seems that Suhaib has been trying really hard to bring Agha Jaan & Behroz together for the past 20 years but ohkay, even if Behroz doesn’t want to go back to Agha Jaan, the least he could do was just be a bit more candid & cordial with Suhaib because by the end of the day, Suhaib is not at fault so he shouldn’t be facing the brunt too. I found Behroz just as unreasonable as he was before & like I said, I really thought I’d see him getting a bit easier but he seems quite incapable of that. All the things that Suhaib said went to show how eager he was & how much he wanted to bring his family back together but seems like he’ll have to try a bit more.

Collage 2

One thing that I found interesting was that after Behroz’s meeting with Suhaib, Behroz resorted to lying & he seemed pretty comfortable with that. It’s understandable that he didn’t want Faarah to know who that ‘uncle’ specifically was but he couldn’t bring himself to share that detail with Ruhina too & that kind of makes me question the strength of their relationship. Yes, they are very much in love & are very happy with each other but where’s that bonding & where’s that comfort of relying on each other, which is a pivotal part of any husband & wife’s relation? Behroz is very happy with Ruhina & he is satisfied with how his life has shaped up but it still feels that he doesn’t rely on his wife emotionally & that all of a sudden makes their relation seem a bit weak. As far as Ruhina is concerned, Suhaib in just one visit could see & feel the restlessness Behroz’s face was embodying but why is it that in these last 20 years, Ruhina couldn’t understand that Behroz was struggling within & why didn’t she give him an edge to channel out all the things that were building inside him? Yes, I do understand that Ruhina has all the reasons to be bitter about Behroz’s family but she still seems selfish in a way that she is happy that Behroz has nothing to do with his family anymore. She can have the luxury of being in touch with her family but when it comes to Behroz, she can’t overlook that one incident & has been harbouring grudges ever since. I feel if Ruhina will move on, Behroz will move on too but just because they don’t speak about that subject, they both are stuck in a limbo.

I enjoyed the tiff Faarah had with Erum & all the things Zohra said were exactly what any typical relative would say. She isn’t as smitten with Faarah as Tajjamul & to some extent Moeez is & that makes her quite uncomfortable. It is too obvious that Ruhina likes Moeez & if she’d have to choose a guy for Faarah, she would definitely pick Moeez because she has always held him close to her heart but sadly for Ruhina, she doesn’t know that those people whom she refers to as ‘jahil’ will enter Faarah’s life & will change everything.

It was a beautiful episode & all the stories are being told perfectly. I loved the outlook of all the characters & I am glad that the makeup team resorted to a very natural & no-makeup makeup look for Maya Ali because she seems very youthful & fits the bill of a young & quirky character. Osman Khalid Butt didn’t get much coverage but he seemed a little too stiff at the moment, may be that’s the demand of his character, so we’ll see but overall, all the new additional actors performed brilliantly & I like the naturalness of their acting. The director has done an amazing job in keeping the acting as effortless as possible. I did miss the presence of Bedaar Khan & Yasmeen, they both were two beautiful characters. The preview of next episode seemed interesting too & oh, the reappearance of Laila’s character was definitely something none of us expected. I think Suhaib will get to share a few words with her & she will serve the purpose of being a friend who’ll be all ears to his feelings because even he can’t say much in front of Arjumand as he knows she has a scar in her heart too. Can’t wait to see more. Please share your say on this episode & let me know how much did you enjoy watching it? :)

Dusri Biwi- Khatam Shud!

And exactly at 8:54 p.m, for one last time, Biwi No.1 and Biwi No.2 came twirling back to their piya and the piya glanced at Biwi No.1 (I still don’t know what for) and ta-da- ”Dursi Biwi” came to an end! Here’s to not having to put up with any more what-on-earth-am-I-watching feelings, BHAI BHAI tantrums, OTT supporting characters, aaja-piya-mein-ne-tere, ishq-mein-jeena-seekha background feats, extra-long, excruciatingly annoying & forced crying sequences,  baby-snatching schemes, piya-snatching plots and I guess the best of all- no more twirling!! And if this doesn’t call for a celebration, I don’t know what does! Yep folks, life’s cool :D!

The most suitable background score for the ending scene could’ve been this poem: I love you, you love me, we are a happy family…Let’s just say that this was the most pathetic last episode I’ve ever watched and to tell you the truth, this episode alone makes all the other dusri biwi plays look a zillion times better! I couldn’t help thinking about the dusri biwi plays I have watched to date and the list includes Shukk, Aahista Aahista, Bari Aapa and others-none one of these serials showed biwi No.1 and biwi No.2 living together happily ever after so in this regard, Dusri Biwi has indeed set an unprecedented trend. Sooo creative, right? But my question is, if they really had to show something entirely different to what’s normally shown in our plays, why couldn’t they show Biwi No.1 & 2 standing on their own feet and leaving their heartless and repulsive piya for good?

Help me out, I don’t understand why on earth Aisha’s Bhai and Bhabi Jee were given soo much importance in this episode? Bhai’s monologues, Bhabi’s words of ‘wisdom’ and whatnot! ”Dusri shadi koi gunaah tou nahe. Aur Aisha kay saath yeh sab iss liay horaha hai kyunke uss nay Farah ko baddua di aur uss kay saath nainsaafi ki.” It does seem like Bhabi Jee wouldn’t mind if her husband gets married for the second time and considering how generous she is, I suggest Bhai Jee should actually consider that option! And I couldn’t believe my ears when she straight off declared that Saman went missing because karma had to get back at Aisha. Well, if that’s the case, Farah should be suffering because she is a home-wrecker and Hassan should be suffering even more because if there’s anyone to blame, it’s him! And I don’t get how one mere conversation between Bhai and Bhabi actually brought about an inqilaab in Aisha and after overhearing all of this, she actually asked Farah for forgiveness? Why does she even take her Bhabi so seriously? And I just wanted to bang my head against the wall during the whole exchange of duas scene- all of a sudden, there were so many gehri & philosophical baatain and sooo much emphasis on pul sirat, karma, baddua, dua and whatnot! After all this heavy duty karma talk, I have to ask this again: why did Hassan get away with everything? When this guy first made an appearance, he came across as someone truly in love with his first wife. But only the writer can explain why did his character take a 360 degree turn and all of a sudden, he was in love with his colleague. He married her and justified it by, ”Bus sab achanak hogaya”, he has given nothing to his wives except for tears and lies and any random person can easily tell that this guy is a loser BUT isn’t it infuriating that his wives are actually desperate about ”winning” him over? What sort of image of Pakistani women do these plays project? He’s supposed to be the ‘hero’ when he is anything but that? They make it seem like it’s actually possible for a guy to be truly & equally in love with both of his wives! When Farah first made her appearance in this play, she came across as an independent woman striving to stand on her own feet and that’s one of the reasons she didn’t like her fiance because he was suffocatingly controlling and wanted her to stop working. But it’s ironic how after her marriage to Hassan, she was confined to the four walls of her house and yet, she didn’t object for a second and was pretty much okay with it!

Saman’s disappearance and everything related to it was full of loopholes!! First off, the search squad included Hassan, Bhai, Bhabi and even Farah’s parents but hang on, where were the police? Secondly, Saman actually knew Farah’s number by heart? How is it possible for a little girl like her to trust her newly discovered aunty more than her own mother? Explanation, please!

But I must say that Saman finally got her happy ending. She now gets to share her room with her baby BHAI! I’m sure she must be on cloud nine! This ending didn’t work for us but it definitely worked for her :D.

And while Hassan was asking himself, ”Mujh say kia gunaah hogaya? Allah hum say bohat naraz hai!” I was hoping he’d declare it aloud that this second marriage was nothing but a HUGE mistake. I was hoping he’d ask Aisha for forgiveness once again but surprise surprise, nothing of that sort happened. And when Hassan was saying, ”Allah mujhe bemaari de deta, mujhay utha leta”, I couldn’t help thinking how wonderful that would have actually been! Even Aisha didn’t point it out to him that the reason why we are in this mess is YOU!! Instead, the scene ended with Aisha asking Hassan to donate all his money to the charity, genius, right?

Sorry to break your heart, writer, but despite your incessant attempts to prove Farah’s bechargi, I couldn’t feel a thing for Farah and that’s that! A home-wrecker is a home-wrecker. But the truth is, I didn’t feel for Aisha either. This woman, she didn’t have an ounce of self-respect. All this time she has been blaming her sautan more than her infidel husband and there were times when I just wanted her to shut Hassan up but she didn’t! She, in a way, allowed Hassan to treat her the way he did.

On a serious note, I would just like to say to our writers that pleasee, get over this dusri biwi obsession!! Please do your homework because according to some stats, 17% of the families in Pakistan (one-fifth of the population) are associated with polygamy BUT the way our plays show one-to-one combats of two wives sharing one roof, let me tell you, it’s not the way things are in modern and educated Pakistani households. It’s not Arab Sheikhs we are talking about- it’s Pakistan, for God’s sake! Our society frowns upon the mention of polygamy but here I was shocked how even Farah’s parents didn’t have a problem with their damaad being a shadishuda, ek bachi ka baap! Finding a ‘bachelor’ for their daughter is the first and foremost priority of parents and everything else comes after that so the kind of parents shown here are, abnormal! And there’s no dearth of eligible bachelors in Karachi but here they made it as if the only eligible bachelor in town was an over possessive and destructively impulsive maniac *drumrolls* Amir!

Lastly, the promotion of this play was repulsive to say the least. The facebook page of Dusri Biwi (it’s an officially Facebook certified page, just so you know :P) promoted it through asking questions that were downright lame and absurd. The promotional teasers relied so much on overdressed ladies, heavy jewellery, maathapattian and ohh how can I forget, TWIRLING! Haha, this drama actually gives  a whole new meaning to ‘twirling’ :D.

All the actors in this play disappointed me to no end. I wasn’t expecting this from Fahad Mustafa and his performance throughout the play was pathetic. Hareem Farooq’s performance lacked passion (not that I blame her for losing her interest) and Maha Warsi was so-so. By the way, in an interview with Dawn, Fahad Mustafa talked about Dusri Biwi and said, ””We’re aiming for a different ambiance, a very contemporary look.” Umm, where was that ‘contemporary look? Am I the only one who missed it?

I just came across this amazing tweet:

This play has been a disaster but in future, if you ever feel like you need a morale booster, just take a deep breath and remind yourself: if I can make it through Dusri Biwi alive, I can handle anything!! Haha, so, what are your thoughts on the last episode? Voice your views!

Zidd – Last Episode!

Hawww!!! Ye kya tha??? LOL! Even though these were the happiest 37 minutes of my reviewing life, but still, the team of Zidd succeeded in making my blood boil for the last time as well. I was happy not because I found the purpose of this drama, not because I understood what everyone wanted, not because the characters & their gibberish started making sense, but because this was the last episode & I actually felt free but I am equally annoyed because I wasted 19 weeks on such a senseless mindless drama.

This episode was all about Zee & her attempts of getting back with Omar & Saman’s taunts to her. I still don’t understand when Saman knew Zainab was Omar’s ex-wife & she had clearly mentioned her intentions to Saman, why was she taken aback by seeing Zainab finding Omar’s shoulder to cry on? It was Omar who kept on saying he was uncomfortable with Zee being in his house but Saman couldn’t understand it, so the reaction that followed was totally unrequired. The whole yelling & screaming about how she trusted a woman & how she shouldn’t have done that was totally uncalled for. I still don’t understand what was Saman’s purpose of being so courteous to an uncourteous Zainab? I must say Maya Ali has acted terribly in this drama & the last episode sealed the deal.

They really thought keeping an open ending would be the best idea but let me tell you the truth, it was not. Like I said in my previous review that it would become too late for Saman & this is exactly what happened, just when she decided she wanted to make things work with Omar, he decided to part ways with her but that too for her benefit so why did she let her overrated, overstated Zidd come in between? Why couldn’t she just tell him that she was now ready to give this marriage a chance?

The ending scene was totally pathetic where Saman blamed everything on her Zidd but let me tell you, Zidd is just an emotion & is a habit that can be mended! It’s not a disease that you’re born with & it’s also not something that you can’t control. Yes, we get that message loud & clear that the writer wanted to show how Zidd ruins everyone’s life but was it just so hard for her to actually make a complete ending by showing some normal transitions in every character? Why didn’t the writer show that Saman was tired of being stubborn & she wanted to put everything behind & start afresh & ohkay, even if she decided that, why didn’t she let those feelings surface in front of Omar? Why didn’t the writer show that Saman learned from her mistakes & she was tired of chasing the happiness which was right under her nose? Omar told her to walk out & she walked out without saying a word & very easily she blamed her Zidd for it whereas she should’ve blamed herself for thinking of herself as some condescending queen whereas in reality she was nothing!

I know the dramas that are shot in America are very tempting for the entire cast & crew because it looks more like a vacation to them & seems like HUM’s Production house really has enough money to waste on these pathetic stories so my suggestion to all those who grab the opportunity of working in substandard dramas just because they’re being shot in America is; that after every year or two they should sign a petition & appeal to HUM’s production house to sponsor their trip where they can all laugh & enjoy & live their short-lived American dream & come back fresh minded without having to mix work with pleasure because this whole idea of shooting pathetic scripts in America with the purpose of attracting viewers is insane & does no good. We want simple & good stories even if they’re shot in Pakistan. HUM TV needs to understand that we don’t care about the locations; all that we care about is getting to see a good story coupled with some sane & normal characters, so they should stop wasting their money on these brain-dead scripts once & for all.

Maya Ali was thoroughly disappointing in this drama. Yes, she has those big expressive eyes & the director relied a lot on her eyes to deliver what her mouth couldn’t because she had no dialogues to begin with but looks like the writer & even the director weren’t sure about what expressions or feelings they wanted her to convey because she looked like a mindless zombie hovering around clueless. I can’t understand that the character which started at such a strong note would become so pathetic by the end of the drama & Maya Ali seemed totally out of her zone because she was trying too hard to get her acting out of her but she failed miserably. Nousheen Shah succeeded in making a fool out of herself & I wish I don’t see her on TV for the next couple of years at least. Rubab Hashim was good in acting but my advice to her is to get a foundation shade that matches her chin area & she MUST get rid of that orange lipstick, shimmery eye-shades & she MUST get a clip to keep her fringe in place. Ahsan Khan, well the less said the better & my word to the writer; we know you’re capable of writing amazing scripts, so you should stick to your niche & stick to what you excel in because this experiment rather this Zidd of yours actually wasted a lot of people’s time & energy. Anyways, share your thoughts please & let me know how happy are you that this ZIDD ended!!!
