Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, this episode was slow but was definitely good in bits & pieces. The story is definitely making some progress & that is a good thing to see. I can’t wait to see how things will be reversed for Haadi & Mahnoor & what Mahnoor will figure about her life & what she will be left with, in the end.

I honestly believe that if someone wants to watch Zara Yaad Kar, they should do it solely for Saba Faisal’s acting & for the character of Aneesa that she is playing. I can’t emphasize enough on how much I love her as Aneesa. She is so calm & composed but you can see through her expressions that a storm has taken over her entire heart & soul. Haadi finally decided to show up & the exchange of glances between the aunt & nephew was phenomenal. The aunt knew what her nephew was going through because of her daughter & the nephew knew what his ex-wife-to-be was putting his aunt up with. Aneesa & Haadi knew that things were about to change & what they valued the most, which is their relation was going to change as well. Aneesa sat there defeated & sad, while Haadi tried to give her some hope that things will be alright, that he will be alright too.

I loved the way Haadi told Mahnoor to think things through ‘once again’ for the very last time. It showed how much of a room his heart had for her & how much he was ready to budge & bend in order to hold onto what was theirs. Mahnoor sat there like an expressionless, soulless & heartless statue who thought she had some power over him because he gave her a higher status & also because he was making an effort to stop her once again from jumping into deep pit. Their parting conversation was written beautifully & more than theirs, I love the conversation that took place between Aneesa & Haadi. Aneesa told Haadi what should be his priority in finding someone to get married to. Aneesa was shaken & more than that she was ashamed that Mahnoor betrayed both, her husband & her mother, that is why Aneesa made sure to let Haadi know that he needs to find someone who will take care of him, who will love him just as much as he deserves.

Wah! I am impressed by Waqar’s farsightedness because he really is lucky when it comes to girls. His sweet-talking has taken him to such places, where one girl got divorced for him & the other is doing everything to keep him in her sights by going through such a pain of buying an apartment for him, which he shamelessly accepted. The importance Mahnoor holds in Waqar’s life was depicted once again where he didn’t bother leaving a message for her to not wait for him because he got caught up with some work. He indifferently left with Gaitiara to Umarkot & didn’t feel the need to inform Mahnoor who was waiting to get married to him, lol! With Mehtab Deswali gone, Gaitara needs someone to rely on, so who else would do the honors than Waqar himself. I am sure this will bring Gaitara closer to Waqar & she will fall for him completely.

I loved the way they depicted Mahnoor’s mental state when she kept on calling Waqar again & again & couldn’t get in touch with him. It was more than just a phone call & more than just a conversation that she wanted to have with her husband-to-be. It was more of an assurance that she needed after her divorce to validate that she made the right decision & despite losing one, she had another safety net to fall back on as well. Mahnoor was eager to speak to Waqar & when she couldn’t get in touch with him, it showed her fear that she will spend the rest of her life with because after what she has done to Haadi, I am sure she will always have a guilty conscious & a fear that the same thing might happen to her too. She will never have that inner peace because she knows what she did was wrong as she had no good reason to leave Haadi but just because she was unfaithful, she fell weak & lost her dignity. Mahnoor might think that she has won Waqar, but deep inside, she will always have a voice in the back of her head, affirming her fears!

Haadi is shattered & the way he decided to clean his house went to show how he was trying to move out of the head space that reminded him of Mahnoor & that is why he resorted to cleaning which often turns out to be quite therapeutic. I am sure now Haadi will start thinking about Uzma because Uzma fits the bill of all the things Aneesa said about the sort of a girl being suitable for him, but yes, I will also add that everything else is nice but someone please buy Uzma a comb as she’s in dire need of one.

This episode was pretty decent. I love love love Saba Faisal’s acting & for me, she is the saving grace of this drama. Zahid Ahmed was good too & depicted the mental state of Haadi perfectly. I must say Gaitiara looked nice in eastern outfits more but I wish she becomes fluent in Urdu ASAP. I enjoyed the dialogues of this episode in particular too & for the first time felt that they used the OST at the right time in the scene where Haadi drove away after finalizing his divorce, it added more depth to that situation. Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, this episode showed some slight progress in the story. Even though this episode was slow, I found it justified considering how they needed some time to show the different emotional states that Haadi was going through, however I feel like Uzma got a lot of unnecessary screen-time & half of the things she said didn’t leave an impact as much as they should have.

Mahnoor got the answer from Waqar that she was waiting for. I think Waqar doesn’t believe in wasting time. I thought he’d actually wait for Gaitiara’s confession & might as well back out from the commitment that Mahnoor thought he made but he didn’t do anything of that sort because in my opinion, he doesn’t respect his relationship with Mahnoor at all, because if he had an iota of respect for this relationship & also for Mahnoor, he wouldn’t have said all those things to Gaitiara just the night before when he finally decided to propose Mahnoor. I think just like for Mahnoor, her relationship with Haadi didn’t carry much importance, similarly, for Waqar, his relationship with Mahnoor doesn’t carry much importance too & I say that because even when Mahnoor tagged Waqar along to do the paperwork required to proceed with her divorce, Waqar spoke to Gaitiara eagerly & stealthily. If Waqar had respected Mahnoor (which she obviously isn’t entitled to), he would’ve told her straight away about who this special student of his was, what she was like & how she might have fallen in love with him because this is exactly what Haadi did when he received a confession letter from Uzma.

Once again, there was a lot of focus on ‘mard & mard ka bacha’ bit but I am sure the writer here has tried to use this terminology in sarcasm because usually people attribute egoism & unnecessary display of anger & authority to define the traits a man should & must possess. By showing a ‘man’ like Haadi, the writer here is trying to convey that this is what a man can be like, who has nothing to do with ego & who believes in granting people their wishes even if it means crushing their own dreams & walking over their desires, which most of times doesn’t favor a man like Haadi but there is nothing wrong in being like that. People aren’t familiar with these sort of ‘mard’ & don’t usually come across men like Haadi too, that is why Aneesa kept on telling him to do things he doesn’t believe in like slapping Mahnoor, just in order to prove his manliness, which once again he never resorted to as he knows & has this sense of self-affirmation that he doesn’t need to do all this to prove that he has some authority & power to rule over a female just because he is a male & has to go by the mindset that the society endorses. This is also one of the reasons why Mahnoor never saw Haadi as a man, just because he forgave her mistakes & had the courage to apologize for the things he never was responsible for, Mahnoor thought he wasn’t an ideal ‘man’ because he was too cowardly & gentle, that is why when she saw Waqar, she assumed that he was a perfect man that she was waiting for all her life & deserved to be with. Mahnoor will find out soon enough that Haadi was more a man than Waqar is because being a man can also mean being honest, sincere & kindhearted, which Waqar definitely is not & Haadi is!

I must say, for a father of an only child & daughter at that, Ikhtiyaar Sahab is a bit too cool-headed & relaxed. He now understands the feelings Uzma has or even if he doesn’t understand, he most certainly doesn’t mind seeing how his daughter takes care of the one she cooks for. However, I must say I like the relationship that Ikhtiyaar Sahab & Uzma share & it won’t be too long when Haadi will join their little family too as Ikhtiyar doesn’t seem to mind the feelings Uzma has for him.

Honestly speaking, throughout this episode I couldn’t stop thinking how things will change from now onward & how the lives of both Mahnoor & Haadi will be reversed. Haadi is going through a heart-break & has suffered enough pain but he will understand that everything happens for a reason & there will come a time in his life when he will thank Mahnoor for walking out of his life. Where Haadi’s life will take a U-turn for the better, Mahnoor life will also take a U-turn but for the worse as she has unknowingly driven herself to hell. She thinks just because Haadi walked out of her life quietly, she has scored a big win but she is a fool to believe that things will be smoother & easier Just like Waqar said ‘1 mahine ki mohabbat’ forced Mahnoor to take such a huge step, so she definitely is in for a ride & will see her worst nightmares materializing & things slipping away from her hands no matter how hard she will try to hold onto them. I am sure the way Mahnoor has insulted the love Haadi had for her, Waqar will insult the love Mahnoor has for him too. The way Mahnoor has hurt Haadi’s feelings, Waqar will hurt her feelings too. Also, I am sure the way Mahnoor two-timed on Haadi, Waqar will two-time on her too with Gaitiara & I can’t wait to see how she will be left alone & miserable.

Overall, this was a decent episode but a bit on the slower side. I like Haadi for the honesty he endorses & displays no matter how dire the situation is. I feel bad for Aneesa because she knows that things have messed up big time & she can not undo any of that. I am glad that they have used the first 10 episodes to reach the game changer & now we’re stepping into the second phase of the story where the roles will be reversed. Let’s see what do they have in store for us. Please share your say about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 09!

Ohkay so, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar was quite average & slow as nothing much happened & a divided coverage was given to all the characters to show what was happening in their lives after the havoc the Mahnoor wrecked in their lives.

Haadi is still in a denial about what Mahnoor said, may be that’s why he still has the courage to forgive & forget everything that Mahnoor has done in the past few days. Aneesa knows that from now onward, there will hardly be any such days where she will see happiness & harmony in her life that is why the way she spoke to her son about informing Haadi of her death when the time arises went to show that she has given up & there’s no glimmer of hope left in her to keep her positive about the future. She knows that Mahnoor & Haadi are not meant to be because Mahnoor doesn’t want it, that is why, every time she spoke to Haadi, she kept on ignoring his questions about Mahnoor as she knows that there’s no use of that & her daughter has called it quits.

Uzma was disturbed because she felt that Haadi didn’t trust her enough to tell her the truth & that is why he brought her the sweets to make her believe that everything went back to normal. After Haadi spoke to Aneesa & was forced to do some thinking once again, he realized that he needed Uzma’s help & advice to finally make the decision. Uzma got furious at what Mahnoor said, that is why it didn’t take her a minute to suggest that Haadi should leave her as she herself has left him & it is Haadi who needs to bring himself to face this reality. However, I do not understand why didn’t Uzma once again tell Haadi to forgive Mahnoor like she suggested before & why did she take such an offence at Mahnoor’s demand of divorce?

Waqar & Gaitiara got a lot more coverage this time around & may be that is the reason why this episode didn’t actually work for me. Gaitiara is there to prove that she is different from her father & she will end up becoming an ideal leader to those people who her father has been fooling for so many years. I thought that the whole ‘pyaar’ bit was confirmed & Waqar knew about the feelings that Gaitiara had for him as she wrote a similar note in the previous episode too but once again it was brought into highlight but that entire conversation wasn’t interesting & convincing. However, it did tell us something more about Waqar.

Waqar is happily fooling around with Mahnoor as he know that this is what she wants but deep down he has his sights on Gaitiara & he is waiting for a hint from her in order to make up his mind as to take Mahnoor or leave her. The call that Waqar made to Gaitiara in order to confirm about her feelings went to show that Waqar believes in getting a confession from a girl first & when he didn’t get the desired answer from Gaitiara, he threw a few compliments her way in order to make her think about what was already running through his mind. Waqar is not only an opportunist but he is a very conniving person who loves to play his cards cautiously. Waqar knows that if he will be the first one to confess, he might lose a chance because may be Gaitiara’s father will never approve of him or may be Gaitiara might say that she doesn’t feel like that for him, that is why he wants Gaitiara to be the first one to fall in love, because of which she will not only be able to take a stand for Waqar but will be able to convince her father too. Waqar did the same thing with Mahnoor, where he never really made any promises or never really shared his true feelings with her first, but ended up giving her enough compliments to melt her heart & this is exactly what he did this time around with Gaitiara too. The moment he understood that what Gaitiara said was generic, he gave her a food for thought that he knew will work in his favour. Waqar is quite a calculative person, that is why he told Mahnoor to wait for a couple of days before finalizing her divorce with Haadi & then he spoke to Gaitiara to know what she feels. I am sure Waqar will try his best to get Gaitiara’s answer in next few days & when that will happen, he will happily ditch Mahnoor & will tell her to mend ways with Haadi & not get divorced using him as a reason. I must say, Waqar’s character has been written intelligently & the director has elaborated Waqar’s thought process on screen brilliantly too.

Overall, this episode was quite average & didn’t give us anything unusual or new. The preview however did seem promising so let’s see what more do they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 08!

Ohkay so, it was one cracking episode & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. This is for the first time that I felt the KRQ charm in comparison to all the previous episodes of Zara Yaad Kar that I have seen so far & I say this because my favorite character from the lot got enough coverage to say what we all wanted to hear. Even though not much happened in this episode, but the major thing that happened was given a well-deserved screen-time because we needed to see all the reactions associated to the game changing decision of Mahnoor & I must say, the way the writer wrote & the director directed the reactions of each & every character was ‘spot-on’.

Mahnoor definitely is someone who has no insight whatsoever. She is someone who lacks basic judgement one has when it comes to judging the people you’re surrounded with. All the things she said to Waqar which implied Haadi as a ‘kamina’ went to show that she never really understood who her husband, Haadi was & how he was like because if she had a tad bit of a sensibility, maturity & wisdom, she would’ve known that Haadi was one of those guys who’d do anything or might as well go to any extreme but would never ever hit or harm a girl in their entire life, & it surely was a mindless assumption on her part. I am amazed that Mahnoor is ready to go to such lengths based on something that she has no solid reason for. She has never ever heard it from Waqar that he intends to get married to her & there she is, sacrificing everything thinking that she has bagged herself her Mr. Perfect!

Uzma didn’t show the signs of distress at the things she heard from Mahnoor about herself & Haadi, that is why she was able to give Haadi the courage he needed by telling him that he could & he should forgive Mahnoor. This is probably the first time that I liked what I heard from Uzma in regards to Mahnoor & Haadi’s relationship. Very effortlessly she made him understand that a man can be insincere too & can still expect his wife to forgive him, so now if he is at the dead end, he can pave a way out of this by resorting to forgiveness. Haadi was definitely disturbed but he got his head together & mustered up enough courage to forgive his wife if he’d find her apologetic but what he heard shook his ground!

I loved everything that Aneesa said to Mahnoor in this entire episode. She was quiet but she was planning it all along as she could foresee what her daughter was going to put her up with. Aneesa knew that Mahnoor was getting out of control, that is why like a helpless mother, she did what she deemed fit in a hope that at least something that she’ll say will make her daughter realize how she is blatantly playing with fire. When Aneesa saw that her indirect taunts weren’t enough for Mahnoor, she forced herself to confine Mahnoor in her room, thinking that at least it will show her daughter that her mother would never approve of what she was hoping for.

Haadi actually thought that Mahnoor will apologize to him but what she said was something that he, never in a million years would have imagined. The reaction of Aneesa, followed by the blank expression of Haadi was spot on. Haadi couldn’t believe what he just heard his wife say & left in a disbelief yet hopeful enough that this might be a nightmare that might get over soon. The way Haadi went to the confectionery shop to get what Uzma asked for went to show that what just happened to him started to sink in & Haadi was ready to deal with it his way!

“Mohabbat ki aik se ziyada daleel nahi hoti, aur bewafai ke sau se kam bahanay nahi hote”, just beautiful! Coming to the show down between Aneesa & Mahnoor, I was most certainly blown away & all those slaps that Aneesa placed on Mahnoor’s cheeks made me ask for more because this is exactly what a mother should do when her daughter loses the plot & this is exactly what a daughter should receive when she decides to bring a bad name to her family. “Haq lena apna, aur batana appne Waqar ko ke tumhare liye kiss tarhaan bewaqaar ho ke ai hoon”, without even hearing a word from Mahnoor about why she took that decision & what made her ask for a divorce, Aneesa just exactly knew what was running through her daughter’s mind & isn’t it just amazing because recently we’ve only seen those mothers who are well-aware of the feelings of even the kid that might be playing in the neighborhood park, but she is completely oblivious to what her daughter is feeling & is going through. That is why, I found it brilliant that Aneesa didn’t need to hear anything from Mahnoor & knew exactly who she was doing all this for. I am really glad that the writer here showed what exactly mothers are capable of as they are never unaware of their children’s feelings, emotions & sufferings & that is why, even though the situation Aneesa is faced with is gnarly, she has made it possible for us to understand her & feel for her character. The way Aneesa pushed her daughter Mahnoor out of her life & broke down went to show that she was holding onto the last bit of courage she had in her in order to take such a big decision & when she was done with it, she cried at her misery hysterically. What a beautifully written character I must say!

Well, we got to know that Gaitiara not only confessed her feelings to Waqar & has now even started relying on him because all those questions that she asked Waqar about Umerkot, went to show that she wanted to hear everything from him, even if it might show her the bad side of her father, she was ready to do that, why, because she takes Waqar to be an honest & straight forward person & in such a short span of time, Gaitiara has started to believe that if there’s one person she can depend on, it is Waqar. Well, the smiles that Waqar threw back at Gaitiara went to show that he was ecstatic at her confession & wouldn’t mind forming a bond with her. Well, it was good to know that Gaitiara & Waqar’s conversations will now have a little more meaning as the writer tried to convey a message about the politician’s selfishness & the sufferings of the nation due to these leaders. Let’s see how Gaitiara will change & challenge the system set by her father with the help of Waqar.

The preview of the next episode actually got me looking forward to it. After seeing Aneesa’s reaction in this episode, I thought that Haadi had finished everything off but looks like he hasn’t divorced Mahnoor yet & will be speaking to Uzma about it. I am actually looking forward to see how Waqar will ditch Mahnoor when she will cross the boundary & step into his zone. The dialogues of this episode were spot on & were written & delivered perfectly. All the actors, especially Saba Faisal, Sana Javed & Zahid Ahmed did a wonderful job but Saba Faisal takes the crown, hands down. She is the saving grace of Zara Yaad Kar for me & I love her acting, her expressions, her tone & her dialogue delivery. Aneesa is going to be a very memorable character for me I am sure of that. Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 07!

Ohkay so, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar was definitely better than the previous episode & I am guessing this is going to be the pattern that this drama will follow where one episode will be average & the next one will be good. I must say that the only reason why I liked this episode was Mahnoor’s mother. I think her character is the saving grace of this entire drama because the main leads aren’t making much sense & are quite weak in my honest opinion.

So, Mahnoor has started lying to her mother just to buy her some time in order to spend it with Waqar. She went from ‘aap’ to ‘tum’ quite effortlessly & without even asking him about his feelings, she has started to doubt every single reason why she got married to Haadi & stayed in his Nikkah in the first place, thinking that after getting rid of Haadi, Waqar will be standing there with open arms to get married to her. Waqar got a bigger car & that was enough of a validation for Mahnoor to believe that he is her Mr. Right as he not only has a personality but he has a bigger car too.

Waqar said what Mahnoor wanted to hear & yes, very cleverly he convinced that Haadi wasn’t the right person for her. When Mahnoor went on & on & on about her ‘gham’, I was sitting there rolling my eyes so hard because I don’t see any gham in her life? She was happily married with a man who loved her to bits & still, that wasn’t enough. I want to know what does Mahnoor think, that by doing all this, is she putting herself in a good light in front of Waqar & what guarantee does she has that Waqar will not judge her or her character that while being already married to someone, she is not only lying to her mother but going on a date with him as well? Does Mahnoor really think that Waqar will not question her sense of loyalty that when she couldn’t be loyal to Haadi; her husband, she will remain loyal to Waqar?

Once again, I really thought that it was Haadi’s fault where he didn’t speak to Mahnoor directly. He can not avoid her & believe that things will get normal. He knows that Mahnoor needs some time but yes, he should give her the space but should reason with her as well because giving space to someone doesn’t mean that you ignore the problems that exist in between & think that everything will work in your favor.

Haadi got to spend some time with Uzma & Ikhtiyaar & that particular scene showed that all three of them can be like a happy family in the future. I must say the entire scene where Mahnoor came across Uzma & Haadi was quite forced & didn’t seem right because she spent a lot of time with Waqar & considering that Waqar has enough finances, him taking her to a road-side stall for gol gappas didn’t really make much sense. I guess he should’ve taken her to a proper restaurant because if we compare, then there’s no difference between Waqar & Haadi because they both can only afford gol gappas for Mahnoor, isn’t it? So, Mahnoor’s life is not going to change massively if she opts for Waqar as he is going to feed her gol gappas too.

I loved the way Mahnoor’s mother told her off. I thought that she should’ve gone to her neighbor’s house & inquire from the servant if Waqar had returned or not but then the way she sat there crying over how things were getting out of her hands made it clear that she didn’t have to go & confirm her fear as she already knew where her daughter was at this hour of the night & with whom especially. Mahnoor’s reaction was ridiculous. She really thinks that by laughing it off & brushing it off her shoulder & putting a blame on Haadi for everything will not make her look like a culprit & will put a lid on her disloyalty to her husband. She is being way too manipulative but she is living in a fool’s paradise to believe that her mother can’t see what she is up-to. I loved everything that Mahnoor’s mother said to her & made her realize that more than Haadi, she was the one who was at fault & in stead of putting his wrongdoings in the limelight, she should come clean about what’s in her heart & mind first.

Well, I’m still not feeling Uzma’s character at all. She is sweet & what not but the guilt pangs that she shows about jaiz najaiz are ridiculously contradicting. She is in love with Haadi; a married man & there she is worrying about what is jaiz & what is najaiz for her. Get your head together girl & stop being so controversial.

Anyways, this episode was decent & as always the only saving grace was Mahnoor’s mother & the things she said to her daughter. I guess her character has to be my favorite because she is the only one making sense in this entire drama & I believe that the writer heavily relied on her character to do some sensible talking because he himself knew that right from the beginning the main characters will stop making sense. Also, can anyone please help me with Mother’s Name because I want to speak about her using her actual name in stead of referring to her as Mahnoor’s mother all the time. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, mera matlab hai ‘accha jee’, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar made some progress but sadly the progress was not related to the story & rather it revolved around the progress that the characters made in terms of changing their perspective, priorities & thinking.

So, in front of Waqar, Mahnoor has failed to acknowledge the fact that she is married & she is making a point that she has nothing to do with Haadi. I must say, I feel disgusted to see a character like Mahnoor treating Nikkah as such a nominal thing. She is married but she is acting like a teenager who got infatuated with someone for the first time in her life & would do anything to grab the attention of the guy she has a crush on, but if only her relation with Haadi wasn’t such a sacred commitment because the way she is insulting it & reducing its value is nothing but disgusting. I really don’t understand what Mahnoor has seen in a guy like Waqar that she is ready to forsake her Nikkah for him. He hasn’t made any promises yet & he hasn’t even confessed his feelings, so what has gotten into her head? For Mahnoor, Waqar was just a shareef guy next door so I don’t really understand what did he do that now she is taking such a huge step of calling off her wedding because of him? As far as I remember, all Waqar did was compliment her for her beauty & that’s about it, how did she start seeing him as someone compatible to her or as someone who was an ideal partner for her? Is she really that stupid or desperate, well, either way she is annoying & one of the worst characters I have seen!

Mahnoor’s mother can see everything that is going wrong but she isn’t taking charge of the situation. She has started probing on Waqar & has subtly rebuked Mahnoor too but she needs to take a firm stand & tell Waqar to leave Mahnoor alone. Waqar’s servant told her his own story & that frightened her even more because she could see that there might come a time when she will have to go to Haadi as well in order to apologize on behalf of what Mahnoor has done to him.

So, Haadi has officially started counselling sessions & his personal counselor is none other than Ms. Uzma, who happens to be in love with him. For Haadi, he thinks sharing his problems with Uzma is the right thing to do because she will be able to help him understand women’s psyche better & Uzma hopped on board to lend her expertise to Mr. Haadi. I really don’t understand, Haadi knows that Uzma loves him & she has shamelessly spoken about it time & again too, so why doesn’t that thing make him awkward in front of Uzma at all? He can already see that Uzma is pretty serious about him & there he is sharing all the problems with her so that she can put it in his subconscious mind that Mahnoor is not the one for him. Yes, Mahnoor is pushing Haadi away from herself but being married to her, isn’t it important for Haadi to have a one-on-one conversation with her minus the falsafa & tell her directly about the things that have been bothering him & also ask about the things that have been on her mind too, because hello, that’s how husband & wife are supposed to work their differences out in stead of resorting to landlord’s daughter who loves you & also resorting to your mother-in-law who can do nothing for you & in Mahnoor’s case, resorting to your weird sa neighbor because you are too desperado. I find it funny that ever since Mahnoor & Haadi had a tiff, Haadi stopped talking to her at all & then he expects Mahnoor to be understanding, whereas he himself is acting like an immature kid who needs pampering.

Thanks to Ms. Counselor Uzma, Haadi has understood what the true meaning of love is, which is funny. Uzma told him to do everything that he will never do & this made him understand that all this while, he was loving Mahnoor the wrong way? Haadi grew a bone & allowed Mahnoor to take free rides from Waqar, which means he is trying to test her love & more than that, he also knows that this move could potentially mean the end of their relationship but more than being a realistic decision this is a decision that he has made in a great hope that ‘may be’ his wife will return to him? Sigh! All this while, in Mahnoor-Haadi relationship, I was taking Haadi to be the one having some sanity & sensibility, but nope, he proved me wrong!

Anyways, I must say I find it quite odd that Ikhtiyaar Sahab doesn’t see anything odd about how Uzma keeps on chanting Haadi’s name day & night. He was actually proud of the fact that his daughter was full of motherly instincts that she delayed going to college in order to make Haadi a breakfast? I guess being a single father, Ikhtiyaar Sahab is either too naive or too cool to be unable to see the feelings his daughter has for Haadi & to be allowing her to take care of Haadi as if she is related to him! Well, I must say, Haadi should bid Mahnoor good bye because he is now going by Uzma’s suggestions & because of that, he has allowed his ego to take over & that is why in stead of fixing things himself, he has left everything to run its course thinking that the result will be in his favor but he is gravely mistaken.

Well, if this is how Waqar is going to teach Urdu to Gaitiara then I am not going to take a chance & watch their scenes, not because they were slow & boring but because I am feeling threatened that I might forget my Urdu too, despite scoring high marks in the subject throughout my school life. Well, the way Waqar reacted to Mahnoor’s call in Gaitiara’s presence & the things he said to her in the preview of the next episode made it clear that Mahnoor means nothing to him. He is just saying the things he knows Mahnoor wants to hear & he most certainly doesn’t have any strings attached. He is in other words, helping her come out of the relationship that she has grown out of on her own & when that will happen, he himself will easily back out because since day one, he hasn’t made any promises to her. Waqar is only saying what Mahnoor wants to hear & that’s about it. Also, I must say I find it quite bizarre that being a working woman & being confident enough to step outside of the vicinity of her home, Mahnoor is too scared to commute to her office & her partner remains an ideal partner till he gives her a pick & drop service because the moment he will falter, she will find another guy who will be rendering the pick & drop service to her!!!

Overall, this episode was strictly ohkay. The conversations have so much of falsafa that half of my time goes by in wrapping my head around what is being said & that isn’t because KRQ’s dialogues are out of my league, but it is because that the story & the script on their own are so simple & predictable, that I am left wondering if there was a need to add such bhari bharkam dialogues in the situations that lack substance in the first place. Yumna Zaidi acted nicely in this episode but somehow I am not feeling the character of Uzma at all. She is a nice simple girl who is in love with a married man & that’s about it. There’s nothing that she’ll say or no advice that she’ll give that will change my opinion about her at all. Yes, it has been made clear since day one that she is compatible with Haadi & eventually they both will end up together, so yes, till now things have been so transparent & predictable that there’s no charm in the drama & I am not sure if that will change in the future either. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar, or should I say, baraye meherbaani appni raye is episode ke baray mai zaroor bataiyega.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 05!

Ohkay so, where to begin with! With the previous episode being so good, I was expecting this one to be better but unfortunately, I didn’t find it appealing enough. The story is hardly making any progress & even if it does, the predictability of it doesn’t make it look like the story moved forward as everything that happens seems like it is meant to be & that somehow nullifies the factor of watching something different or new.

Haadi popped the question & Mahnoor’s reaction clearly suggested that she is not comfortable with the idea of getting married so soon. It is so obvious that Mahnoor is trying to buy some time in order to explore the other option that she has. Mahnoor’s mind & heart is totally inclined towards Waqar, that is why she wants to see if she stands a chance in his life by delaying her own marriage, wah, what a logic I must say. On the other hand, Uzma finally broke the spell, she not only ate the mithai brought by Haadi, she wished him promotion ki mubarik too & honestly speaking, that scene made me roll my eyes so bad that now my eyes are hurting. Also, the conversation between Mahnoor & her colleagues forced me to think that why is every single girl in this drama so desperate, starting from Mahnoor to Uzma to Mahnoor’s colleagues!?!?! They all need to know that there’s something more to life than having a man in it!

Oh well, Waqar for now did prove that he knew his limits & he wasn’t ready to cross them for the sake of a married girl. Also, another thing that made my eyes roll so bad was Mahnoor’s question to Waqar about his narazgi, like seriously girl, you should be worried about your husband’s narazgi more than a shareef-uz-zamana parosi ki narazgi. Mahnoor very subtly instilled the idea in her mother’s mind that Haadi’s more like a stamp on her & she is bound to go to him underlining the fact that how badly she didn’t want that to happen & sadly, Mahnoor’s mother could comprehend what her daughter was saying but had no courage to probe into what was going through her mind as she is too scared to hear the answer which she already has an idea of.

Haadi is clearly disappointed & not only that, he is angry too but again, no matter how much he believes in saying that he loves his wife in order to make Uzma understand, it certainly doesn’t become ohkay for him to be spending time with Uzma alone especially when he knows that her father is not at home. Haadi could’ve waited for a couple of hours may be for Ikhtiyaar Sahab to return to spare himself & Uzma the awkwardness but he didn’t see anything odd in it, but I certainly did because Haadi isn’t unaware of the feelings Uzma has for him, so even if he makes a stern face & gives her some robotic responses, he still is feeding the love she has for him by giving her the pleasure of his company.

Uzma’s dialogue delivery did put me on a snooze but somehow when her whole conversation tied down together, I liked it, but found it contradicting to her own desires too. I liked how in difficult yet simple words, she told her father that all she wants in her husband is a sense of a life-long commitment & she most certainly won’t settle for a guy who left his wife so easily, so may be that’s why, seeing how committed Haadi is to Mahnoor, she got attracted to this quality of his but again, will Uzma have no issues when Mahnoor & Haadi will part ways? Obviously, the scene in the preview suggested that Uzma will now start seeing Haadi as a victim, so she will have grounds to still be in love with him as she will know that he wasn’t the one who walked out of this relationship, but still, I find it contradicting that at one side Uzma longs for an eternal commitment from her partner but wouldn’t mind seeing Haadi coming out of one commitment to form another with her? Even though Uzma’s love for Haadi is one-sided but loving someone definitely means desiring to be with the one you love too & it would’ve been ohkay if her love was unspoken about but she let that secret out already, so in other words she does somehow desire Haadi to be with her in stead of being with Mahnoor!

Well, Mehtab & his daughter Gaitiara got a lot of coverage in this episode but they didn’t give me much to talk about. Like I said, it was too predictable that Waqar will be appointed as Gaitiara’s Urdu teacher & the way Mehtab described, he will be spending a lot more time with her too, so it is imperative that they both will fall for each other, especially with Waqar finding the truth about Mahnoor, he will feel free to fall for someone else once again. Gaitiara has come to contest in the elections but she strives to become an honest politician but I am sure soon enough she’ll find out that honesty & politics don’t really gel well together!

Anyways, overall this episode was average but the preview suggested that things will get a bit complicated & may be the story will move forward. I was kind of surprised (read shocked) to see Haadi sharing his marital problems with Uzma; the girl who loves him, haha, oh dear, it’s a big no no to be sharing your problems with the one who already wants to be with you. Yes, Uzma hasn’t bluntly said that she wants to spend her life with Haadi but it still doesn’t really put a lid on the fact that he has confessed her feelings to him. Looks like Mahnoor will do everything to get Waqar’s attention but her mother will try to stop her. I think the truth is out there that Zara Yaad Kar’s journey won’t be an exciting one because where we will get 1 good episode, we’ll have to accept the next ‘filler’ episode that will come our way too. I am sure they picked the most interesting bits to make the preview look enticing but overall, this journey is going to be quite slow, predictable & to some extent boring as well. The only strong point of this otherwise mediocre script are the dialogues but sadly, none of the dialogues in this episode struck a chord & seeing the half-opened eyes of both love-stricken Uzma & Mahnoor made me yawn so bad. I think I should get used to yawning & eye-rolling because they’ll be my go-to expressions while watching most of the episodes of Zara Yaad Kar. Well please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar!

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 04!

Ohkay so, finally I am glad that the team of Zara Yaad Kar gave me a reason to say that this episode was really good. The main reason why I say this is only because of the dialogues & the conversations that took place in the second half of the episode. For the first time I could feel the touch of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s writing because even though the situations were pretty simple, the dialogues through which they were conveyed made it an interesting watch. However, I still do feel that the story is typical & predictable & I hope to see something better but at least, the conversations are making it worthwhile.

Waqar & Mahnoor got a chance to explore what’s running through their minds a little more. It was more of a conscious & selfish act on Mahnoor’s part that she started treating these free rides from Waqar as an escape from her reality. Waqar put these situations to good use & didn’t hold back in telling how impressed he is & how spellbound he has been ever since Mahnoor has honored him enough by sitting in his ‘zebra-printed’ car. The way Mahnoor asked Waqar’s opinion about her taking a lift from him went to show that she was looking for some sort of false validation from him that will put her heart & conscience to ease. I really expected better from Mahnoor because being a working woman, she should really know when & where someone’s crossing the line. It literally took two rides for Waqar to get so candid with Mahnoor that straight from her ‘leebstick’ his praises started revolving around her beauty, her voice & what not & even after all this, if Mahnoor thinks of him as a gentleman then she needs to sit back & think again.

Obviously Mahnoor is a fictional character but she is shown as a married woman, so first off, hiding the truth about her marital status & then not finding Waqar’s flirting odd really makes me question her mentality in general. I really don’t think a girl like her can be such a fool that just because Waqar threw some compliments her way, she found them as the ultimate truth & believed that she knows Waqar in & out. I think it takes a girl less than a minute to understand that a guy will most likely say such things which he knows will impress a girl he’s trying to flatter in the first place. The lectures Waqar gave about respecting women & what not went down the drain the moment he placed his phone number in Mahnoor’s hand but if only Mahnoor wasn’t so dimwitted, she would’ve understood that Waqar is just the same as all those other men/predators out there. Waqar does seem like an opportunist & quite intelligent as well because at first, he showcased how dignified he was by telling her that he will not stop his car for her because he respects her (beauty) enough & the very next moment, he took their ‘relation’ a step further by giving Mahnoor a source of remaining connected to him on a personal basis. Also, Waqar is really testing how far Mahnoor can go for him (or in other words how desperate she is) because in stead of giving his number to her, which means she will have to make a call to him first, he could’ve just asked for her number since he seems to be having a lot of ‘haq’ on her. One thing’s for sure, Waqar is quite intelligent & that is why he is conducting himself as a gentleman whereas he isn’t as unique or different as he poses to be. Anyways, I really hope the writer had made Mahnoor dignified enough by showing that just a few typically packaged compliments couldn’t sway her to such an extent that she is now rethinking about her marriage & having doubts about her relationship with Haadi.

It is good that Haadi doesn’t hold back & tells Mahnoor’s mother everything because he knows that she understands him better than his wife; Mahnoor does & she will plead his case in front of Mahnoor with a lot of wisdom & logical reasoning. Mahnoor is immature, that has been conveyed but she is now turning out to be someone who fails to admit her mistakes & see things from someone else’s perspective. Yes, the route that Haadi took in order to make Mahnoor understand the situation may have been wrong but that definitely doesn’t mean that just because of someone who she barely knows, she starts questioning everything that her husband says or does.

I think Mahnoor’s mother is a potential candidate of becoming one of the members of the most memorable & beloved mothers’ club of our dramas because the way she preached Mahnoor by putting forth her own example went to show that she already can see the difference in Mahnoor’s behavior & more than that, she can foresee a storm approaching which is going to take everything away from them especially Mahnoor, which shows her wisdom & farsightedness. “Mard bas itna sa khuda hai, ke biwi ke shirk se darr kar mard bhi nahi rehta”. I loved the entire conversation Mahnoor’s mother had with her daughter where she explained her about how much a husband can forgive his wife’s mistakes but the one thing he is incapable of forgiving is her unfaithfulness. Mahnoor’s mother can see that Haadi is someone who walks an extra mile for her daughter & he is someone who will go to any lengths to please her & give her the comforts she desires, therefore she wants Mahnoor to look at him with the same perspective too because out of all the things Haadi has offered to Mahnoor till date & will be offering in the future, his loyalty & sincerity are invaluable.

“Soch lo, beth kar achi tarhaan se soch samajh kar faisal kar lo, ke Shirk karogi yan Shadi”, Mahnoor’s mother definitely knows that there’s something that has clearly gone wrong & Mahnoor is now having second thoughts about her marriage to Haadi, that is why she is subliminally yet clearly telling her daughter that the path she was walking upon was right for her & the path that is now looking extremely attractive to her is nothing but a lie. I hope Mahnoor’s mother has a conversation with Waqar too where she tells him that his obsession with Mahnoor’s ‘leebstick’ has almost cost Mahnoor her marriage. Mahnoor is quite shallow that all of a sudden, she has started blaming Haadi for the things he has never said before, like she now thinks that Haadi is against Mahnoor’s job too & it is quite amusing to see that all this is happening just after a ‘single’ conversation she had with Waqar where he put his skills as an Urdu teacher to good use & flattered her with his ‘falsafa’.

Finally, Mehtab Deswali’s daugther has made an entry & honestly speaking, it didn’t appeal to me much, like this whole track of a politician father & his non-resident Pakistani daughter isn’t working for me right now. However, I do believe that once Waqar will come across Gaiti as her Urdu tutor, he will definitely forget about Mahnoor’s husn & her dil mai utarnay wali awaaz. It already looks like Waqar is quite obliged to Mehtab due to what he has done for him & his job, therefore it won’t take him a second to return his favors by becoming committed to Gaiti if Mehtab will put forth his wish in this regard in front of Waqar. At this moment & in my opinion, the only purpose I see of Gaiti’s entry in this drama is to show an awkward triangle that will form between Gaiti, Waqar & Mahnoor. Anyways, I am glad that this episode didn’t have much of Uzma & her masoomiyat because she can give you diabetes even though she doesn’t eat the mithai of Haadi’s promotion as it is najaiz for her!

Overall, this episode was good because the mother took the crown for being the most sensible & realistic character in this drama so far. I also am looking forward to what the mother’s reaction would be when she will find out what Mahnoor’s true intentions are. The preview suggested clearly that Mahnoor is going to post-pone the wedding as she needs some time to dwell in her fool’s paradise with false hopes & fabrications spun by Waqar. Let’s see if it gets any better. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar.

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 03!

Ohkay so, just like the previous episode, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar wasn’t impressive as well. I actually am quite surprised (read shocked) that a drama like Zara Yaad Kar has a name of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar attached to it because this is what enticed me to watch this play irrespective of a very mediocre cast but I am quite disappointed, not only with the characters but with the story & the dialogues too, which is something that always is one of the strongest points of his writings, but sadly, none of that is a part of Zara Yaad Kar, which makes me question whether this drama is actually written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar himself or not.

So, Haadi drew a line & told Uzma off clearly that he will not entertain her anymore. I was quite surprised at Uzma’s reaction, like she was actually heart-broken to find out that Haadi wasn’t going to accept any of her khidmaat anymore, like seriously what in the first place told Uzma that she could fall in love with a married man & also, in what state of mind did she expect that he will accept all that she was extending towards him? She was so heart broken that she promised to not open the gate for him & also told him about her timings so that they don’t cross paths anymore. Seriously, I do in my heart feel that Uzma is a nice girl & she deserves to be happy but I don’t think there ever will be a justification that will convince me that her feelings towards Haadi were reasonable, understandable & acceptable. Yes, I know, Haadi & Mahnoor’s relation will end pretty soon & then Haadi will have nowhere else to go but still, keeping that aspect aside, it is definitely not ohkay to see a girl getting the married man of her dreams in any case!

So, Mahnoor got a lift from her neighbor & just a single visit to his place has enticed her enough to probe about him & his personal life that she took it as an opportunity & put it to good use. Mahnoor really is immature, isn’t she because a guy, who she has hardly spoken to asked her why she wasn’t wearing a ‘leepstick’ & she didn’t find anything odd about it. Also, Mahnoor’s response was quite dodgy where she conveniently said ‘ghar walay’, which obviously showed that she wasn’t ready to tell Waqar about Haadi just yet because if she had been honest, she would’ve told Waqar that it is her husband who doesn’t like her wearing make-up in public. The door-bell prank that Mahnoor played on Waqar was quite cringe-worthy, it is like she is not letting go of him anymore & she is interested in maintaining some sort of contact or relation with him, which is quite awkward & questionable.

Haadi took the interaction between Mahnoor & Waqar the hard way because he knows the sort of people exist & the sort of people working women come across in their practical lives, who actually end up becoming a deviation for them & that is why, he didn’t hold back in telling her that he wasn’t too happy with the way Mahnoor was becoming comfortable with the idea of getting the free rides from home to office from her neighbor. The only thing that I liked about this entire episode was the note at which the episode ended where at first Haadi gave Mahnoor a free-hand to do what she wants, which was also a gesture to show that he respects Mahnoor’s choices, accepts all her likes & dislikes & loves her so much to curb his own feelings to make her happy but after doing all of that, he put forth his perspective that brought Mahnoor down to the ground & served as a reality check that she will come across a lot such people who will praise her for her beauty or for many other things but deep down, she needs to explore if she has that much of a will power to endure all of that & curb these temptations. I really really liked how subtly Haadi told her to grow up because he knows that this is exactly the right time for Mahnoor to wake up & smell the coffee.

I somehow feel that they should’ve given us a little background story of how Haadi & Mahnoor got involved & agreed to get married because going by what is being shown, Haadi definitely is not the kind of a guy that would appeal to a girl like Mahnoor so much that she will fall in love with him, so somehow I am kind of feeling the need to know more details about how it all started because seeing how Mahnoor is slipping away so conveniently from Haadi doesn’t really justify their decision of going for a Nikkah as well. I so wish Mahnoor wasn’t shown as such a desperate immature girl who fails to acknowledge & understand the gravity of the situation & intricacy of this sacred relation that she shares with Haadi.

Overall, this episode was quite disappointing but it ended at a good note where Haadi said the things that had to be conveyed. I am not impressed with the dialogues too because I am used to those deep & meaningful dialogues that we get to hear in Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s dramas but Zara Yaad Kar is a totally different case & not to sound harsh but some of the dialogues are so cheesy & typical to the point of being cringe-worthy as well. Also, I really don’t know what will I do if I hear the terminology ‘mard ka bacha’ one more time, like eeewww!!! Anyhow, I so feel that the director is trying really hard to maintain the pace but is not being able to achieve it because there aren’t many situations to combine & make a decent paced episode, therefore she has kept things quite slow to fill the 40 minutes up. Adnan Jillani’s character seems more like a caricature as there’s nothing realistic about him & not sure if he has a substantial role to play in the rest of the drama. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar!

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 02!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking I am not thrilled by what they have shown us so far & that is why I am not feeling this drama at all. Yes, it is good that things are a bit too simple but the story & the characters should’ve had more depth. May be I am judging it a bit too quickly as it was just the 2nd episode but as clichéd as it sounds, first impression actually is the last impression. I so hope that the team of Zara Yaad Kar goes out of the way to prove that proverb wrong though!!!

Uzma…ye Indo-Pak partition se pehle ki heroine 2016 mai kahan se nazil ho gain? Ohkay, let’s give it to her that she is a simpleton who has only dreamed of getting married & doing khidmat of her sartaaj, but I really think they will fail in justifying the reason why Uzma fell for Haadi; a married man in the first place? May be she doesn’t have much to do in her life & she doesn’t have an exposure & access to the outer world, that is why, the moment she saw a man or to be more precise ‘any’ man, she thought it was her HAQ to fall in love with him, irrespective of what his marital status is because honestly speaking, if a girl isn’t desperate, she will no where in her right state of mind’d fall for a guy who is already married & can’t stop speaking about how much he loves his wife. All this while we were given the impression that Uzma is so simple that she often refers to roti as chochi, but after this episode & all the passes she made at Haadi, I can say that Uzma itni seedhi bhi nai hai bhai, tacts pure atay hain banday ki attention grab karne ke waisay. I feel the Haadi/Uzma scene in the initial part of the episode was way too long, stretched & to some extent boring as well, it seriously looked like they were trying very very hard to convey that they both have some sort of chemistry going on but to me they both looked more like a bara bhai being looked after by his acchi wali choti behan. Also, not to forget the timing of their dialogue delivery was wrong & those pauses were awkward too!

Haadi, I most certainly do not understand that in stead of getting fed by a complete stranger, whose hand-made food is najaiz for you, why wouldn’t you honestly tell your wife that your body was aching & you needed her the most? What’s with this formality with your wife when you are just about to get married to her that you’d let a na-mehram feed you & take care of you but you won’t bother telling your wife about how serious your condition is? Yes, I agree, Haadi knows that Mahnoor won’t give him the attention & wouldn’t show the consideration she should at such a time but at least, sharing what he was going through with Mahnoor wouldn’t have harmed him. I guess, Haadi goes out of the way to make Mahnoor feel that she shouldn’t worry herself out in the matters concerning Haadi, that is why Mahnoor has become sort of aloof to his needs at times like these & that is only because of Haadi himself. Yes, I know Mahnoor on her own is quite immature but the way Haadi doesn’t rely on her & devoid her from attaining the sense of responsibility is basically his own mistake. He might think that this is healthy for their relationship but he is actually missing the point that at times like these, to let your spouse know how much you need her is more important because that will make her go out of the way for you. I think Mahnoor acts that way because Haadi has kept her in a bubble & doesn’t even tell what he goes through emotionally which somehow makes her look bad for being a bit indifferent to him but how will she connect to him when she herself doesn’t know what he is going through? I think all the things that Mahnoor said about Haadi being ‘shair & mard ka bacha’ only went to show that Haadi has never told her about his inner most feelings & she doesn’t know him in & out, that is why she thinks it’s ohkay to assume whatever comes to her mind about Haadi.

Even though Haadi has been making some wrong choices, Mahnoor is partially at fault too because even when she got to see how bad Haadi’s condition was, she continued with her taunts regarding how he got help from Uzma, whereas she was never heard saying a word about how, from now on, he should rely solely on her for any & everything as she was more than willing to take care of her husband. Mahnoor fails to understand the intricacy of this relation & the patience & attention it requires because her mind is too pre-occupied with thoughts about nominal things that she doesn’t think about the more important things & bigger problems.

Oh well, it was quite obvious that Mahnoor has bigger rather materialistic dreams in regards to her future but I so didn’t wish for her to be so typical. I knew that her attitude would change over time when she will start seeing Waqar as a better option but that day came too soon because she got to see Waqar’s home & all the ‘material’ that it contained. I must say for a guy who comes from a village that too on a sifarishi job as a teacher, his house was a bit too luxurious but yes, the way he spoke about his servant working at his ‘zameenain’ went to show that Waqar has a sound background & these facts about Waqar will automatically draw Mahnoor towards him. I knew the entry into Waqar’s personal space would change the way she speaks to Waqar but I didn’t know she will get so comfortable to be taking rides from him to her office so soon!

I so hope that the politician (please help me with his name) has something more to offer to the story because going by what they have shown so far, he will only act as a base for another female character’s entry who will come to Pakistan to learn Urdu from Waqar. I have a feeling that we’ll be getting to see an awkward triangle between the politician’s daughter, Waqar & Mahnoor, but let’s hope things aren’t so predictable.

Overall, this episode wasn’t too impressive may be because the characters are a bit too simple & they are acting quite typically as well but I still am going to give this drama a chance in a hope that they will change the way I feel about it & will give us something different out of a story that seems a bit too predictable for now. PS: I think I really need to talk about this Chai Mix named ‘Dostea’. I saw its advert a couple of days ago & my initial thoughts were that it must be a promo of some upcoming drama which will revolve around the wedding theme, more like Ainne ki Baarat sort of stuff but I was actually disappointed to see so many people becoming JUMPING JACKS because of a product & it being only an advert & quite annoying & loud at that too? What sort of a marketing strategy & planning is this? Who comes up with these hideous ideas that pack an unnecessarily large number of people in a room, make them dance like lunatics clad in extra heavy & super expensive dresses & that will help in selling their product out. Let me be the first to burst their bubble – Dear team of Dostea, no one will buy your product with the fear of getting a psychotic attack triggered by drinking your Chai Mix because no sane person would do that & Dear HUM TV (& other channels if concerned) please shorten the length of this headache provoker & the most annoying advert ever made in the history of Pakistan Television!!! I wonder where the creative people are & why are they not being hired by these companies. Bas nachwa lo paglon ki tarhaan aur samjho ke product bikk jayega. Tarang pehle kam tha na jo abb ye bhi aa gaye hain! Phew!!! I am so ticked off & annoyed that I can’t tell!

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 01!

Ohkay so, the writing of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, direction of Amna Nawaz Khan & production of ANK Productions; Zara Yaad Kar commenced tonight & honestly speaking, they gave us a perfect first episode that sparked the interest so well that I’m looking forward to the next episode already. We all are well aware of the magic Khalil ur Rehman Qamar is known to create through his thoughts in his writings & Amna Nawaz Khan left a great impact on the viewers who followed her amazing work in Shanakht, that is why, I have high hopes with this duo & I’m hoping that they will give us something memorable like their previous projects.

The first episode introduced the characters & their characteristics properly. Haadi (Zahid Ahmed) is legally married to Mahnoor (Sana Javed) & their big day is approaching in a few months time. Haadi lives as a tenant in a small room at a place of a School Teacher (Rashid Farooqui). The teacher’s family only has him & his daughter Uzma (Yumna Zaidi). Haadi shares a good bond with his house owner & they both enjoy their conversations over politics & different subjects. Uzma is involved in a one-sided love with Haadi & despite knowing that he has a wife, she feels the need to confess her feelings to him because she thinks she has that much of a right to do so. Haadi strictly tells her off that she shouldn’t feel that way because he is married & loves his wife sincerely.

Collage 1

I really liked the relationship both Haadi & Mahnoor share. Mahnoor also works & she lives with her mother & a younger brother. Haadi is possessive about Mahnoor & doesn’t hold back in telling her how protective he is of her. In their relationship, Mahnoor is definitely the dominant one but what I liked is that Haadi has accepted her the way she is. Yes, he does tell her what she must & she must not do but when it comes to him personally, he doesn’t mind doing what she likes because that’s his way of displaying his love for his wife. Both Haadi & Mahnoor trust each other as well but their ways of trusting is definitely different. In general, they both are very different people with different personality types & different temperaments but somehow they both comfortably complete each other.

Haadi feels obliged to tell Mahnoor about Uzma & her letter to which Mahnoor doesn’t react the way Haadi expects she would. Mahnoor knows that Haadi is loyal to her & that is why she doesn’t feel worried. Haadi believes in transparency between himself & his wife whereas Mahnoor doesn’t feel that way. She thinks if there are certain things that one can handle on their own then there’s no need to tell everything to one’s spouse. Mahnoor knows that Haadi is a bit too particular about minutest things that are related to her & if she continues to share everything with him, things might get difficult for her & Haadi both, that is why she does believe in keeping certain things to herself but more than that, she also believes in having a factor of trust & they both have that thing sorted. Mahnoor does love Haadi & she has accepted him the way he is but somewhere down the line she also belives in independence & that was made evident through the way she thinks & the things she says. I believe the things that do not matter much to Haadi about Mahnoor might come back & bite him because Mahnoor also thinks about herself a little more than she does about Haadi & that can cause a bit of a trouble to both of them.

Collage 02

Haadi believes in giving all that he’s got to his wife & Mahnoor believes in demanding from him. However, the way Haadi described Uzma in front of Mahnoor, it showed that she can be an ideal partner for Haadi or in other words, she could be the idea of an ideal partner for him. The way Uzma has conducted herself so far in front of Haadi, despite her honest & up front confession, Haadi still finds her respectable & a bit immature to not know what she is wishing for.

Waqar (Yasir Mazhar), who happens to be an Urdu teacher has just shifted in the house next to Mahnoor’s. He already has made an entry into their lives by seeking their help time & again. I am sure he has a major role to play in the episodes to come & his role won’t stop at just being their neighbor. So far he seems pretty decent & genteel, probably poles apart from Mahnoor too, so let’s see what role he has to play in this story.

I really liked how simple the very first episode was & how simply it was directed. The conversations were clear & straight forward & in very few scenes they introduced the characters in great deal. I don’t know why but I somehow liked Mahnoor’s character, only for the fact that she was herself in front of Haadi & she doesn’t believe in pretentiousness. I know in the episodes to come, she will prove out to be someone who’s incompatible with Haadi but for now, I also liked the acceptance Haadi has shown towards her. Indeed, in this relationship, he is the one who’s at the giving end & Mahnoor is at the receiving end so this factor as well as Mahnoor’s attitude & to some extent her immaturity will become few of the major reasons behind them drifting apart but for now, I liked the way they both are happy with each other.

Collage 03

Overall, this episode was really nice. As usual, the conversations were simple yet well-written & that’s like a done deal in any of Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s dramas. I liked how Amna Nawaz Khan has kept it simple & there wasn’t anything exaggerated or overdone in this entire episode. I liked how all the actors have acted. Sana Javed really did Mahnoor’s character a justice, she was flawless as a carefree, open-minded Mahnoor, however, I do feel Sana needs to experiment with her looks or styling a little because she looks the same in every drama of hers. Zahid Ahmed did a great job too like he always does, I especially liked his expressions when he shows up at Mahnoor’s door after an accident, where he is trying not to look like a fool by showing up like that, yet he is smiling because Mahnoor is laughing at him, haha, those expressions were priceless. Also, I think Zahid Ahmed looked quite different, may be because he has lost a bit of weight & he had a different haircut, but he looked quite different & it was good to see him experimenting with his looks. Yumna Zaidi didn’t have many scenes but she left an impact too & in just these few moments she showed what Uzma is like. She is hopelessly in love with a married man & believes in doing what she can for him, without expecting anything in return. Yumna Zaidi’s styling was good in a sense that just in a first glimpse of her you can tell that she’s a very domesticated sort of a girl.

I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the very first episode & I am looking forward to the next one too. However, I must add that I have a thing against those patent & non-stop Alaaps of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, I feel they sort of distract me from my thoughts while I am watching an episode & for that I am hoping that they don’t rely too much on those Alaaps in the rest of the episodes. So that’s all from my side & please feel free to share your thoughts about this episode of Zara Yaad Kar.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

First Indian film of Pakistani artist Zara Sheikh has been released in India. The name of film is ‘Rabba Muaf Kareen’/’Honor Killing’ and it is based on honor killings. Another Pakistani artist Javed Sheikh has also worked in this film. The film will also be released in Pakistan in June or July.

Zara Sheikh has been a leading heroine of Urdu films in Pakistan making debut in 1999 from film ‘Tere Pyar Mein’. Her other famous films are Laaj and Salakhain. Since Urdu film making is at hold in Lahore, Zara has not appeared in any film for quite a while now.

Zara Sheikh to work in Pushto film

Anybody remembers Zara Sheikh, the model turned heroine who had a dream start to her filmi career with block buster film Tere Pyar Mein in 1998. Zara Sheikh worked in many Urdu films afterwards like Salakhain, Laaj. With declining number of Urdu films produced in Lahore Zara refused to work in Punjabi films thus she is off screen for many years.

Now surprisingly Zara who rejected all Punjabi films offers has accepted an offer of Pushto films.  Zara is working in a Pushto film produced by Joni Malik also starring  Shahid Khan, Jahangir Jaani and Sobia Khan.

Zara Sheikh to make a comeback in singing

Anyone remember Zara Sheikh perhaps the last famous heroine introduced in Urdu films made in Lahore film industry. Zara had a dream start to her career from superhit film Tere Pyar Mein (2000). Zara second film was Chalo Ishq Larain (CIL 2002), in which her voice is used for playback singing. CIL flopped badly at box office and so does Zara’s career as a singer. After CIL, Zara appeared in films of big banner and budget like Laaj(2003), Salakhain(2004), Pehla Pehla Pyar(2006) till Urdu film making at Lahore halted totally. Unlike other film artists, Zara has constantly declined all offers to work on television or stage and is therefore absent from the scene. Her latest flick is a british indian film named Honor Killing (2014) which is released in India earlier this year.

After a long break Zara is planning to make a comeback, but not in acting its music where she is planning to release an album after Eid. Lets see how Zara performs in this second innings of her music career

Zara Sheikh To Be A Part Of Heer Maan Ja

Zara Sheikh is an actress who made quite a name for herself when she starred in Tere Pyar Mein. She is one of the few actresses who earned the status of a star after the 2000s. Zara Sheikh did not want to do any sort of tacky roles and she kind of disappeared from the scene.

Zara Sheikh To Be A Part Of Heer Maan Ja

The news is that she will be seen this year in the upcoming film Heer Maan Ja which stars Ali Rehman Khan and Hareem Farooq in the lead roles. She will be seen on the dance floor with all of the cast members in a Billo Hai kind of a song. The song is sung by the Bilo Hia singer and this time too the choreography will be by Osman Khalid Butt.

Zara Shahjahan Shared Details About Bakhtawar’s Mehndi Outfit

0

The most high-profile wedding in Pakistan took place recently. Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari daughter of the former prime minister of Pakistan Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) and former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari tied the knots with Dubai based businessman Mahmood Chaudhry. The wedding had the eyes of the whole nation on it, but the security protocol didn’t do justice to the nation, as no one was allowed to take their cell phones inside, so we didn’t have any kind of spoilers. The pictures on the internet are only those which were shared by the family themselves.

Bakhtawar looked stunning on all three functions, but the details of her mehndi dress got everyone’s attention, The dupatta of her customized dress had these beautiful lines embroidered on it from imagistic poetry “Wo Larki Laal Qalandar Thi” which is a tribute to Benazir Bhutto.

Zara Shahjahan Shared Details About Bakhtawar's Mehndi Outfit

Designer Zara Shahjahan also shared details about the dress of Bakhtawar Bhutto’s wedding dress and also her experience of working with Bakhtawar.

“Bakhtawar was the most easygoing bride that I have ever worked with,” says Zara Shahjahan. “I felt that she had been very close to her mother and wanted her to be a part of her wedding. She specifically asked for the embroidery on the dupatta” said Zara Shahjahan.

Zara Shahjahan Shared Details About Bakhtawar's Mehndi Outfit

“This was the first time that I worked with Bakhtawar. Her team reached out to me on their own and she referred to a recent bridal shoot that I had done, Ghazal. Bakhtawar had liked the design worn by Eman Suleman. Taking reference from it, I customized the mehndi outfit according to her requirements. She wanted it to be colorful and in fact, the entire theme of the event followed a color scheme similar to the clothes that she was wearing.”

Zara Shahjahan Shared Details About Bakhtawar's Mehndi Outfit

Zara shared the minute details about the Bakhtawar’s mehndi dress: “The lehnga had traditional chata-patti on it. I used patchworks of Sindhi embroidery and mirrors to embellish it. While the dupatta and the lehnga were heavy, the shirt had lighter embellishment on it. It was worked with flowers and at the center of every flower, we embroidered Bakhtawar and Mahmood’s names. It was all done very minutely which is why it isn’t easily visible in the photographs. I have never believed in over-the-top statements and even with this design, there were little details, meant just for her, that made it special.”

Zara Shahjahan Shared Details About Bakhtawar's Mehndi Outfit

Zara also shared that she never had a one-to-one meeting with Baktawar while her dress was in making process they communicated online: “I created toiles and then sent them to her in Dubai for trying out. After that, the final outfit was created.” Zara also added a little detail on her own: “There is a pouch with the outfit and when she opens it, there is an embroidered portrait of Benazir Bhutto inside it.”
