There are many Pakistani actors who refused to be part of dramas that ended up being really popular. In the beginning, most actors work in whichever dramas they are offered. As their career progresses and they make a name for themselves, they are in a position to refuse scripts that do not appeal to them. Of course, there must be so many actors who might have rejected different scripts but very few have actually talked about it. Most of the time when actors refuse to play a certain role, they choose not to talk about it in public. However, there have been instances when the production houses themselves informed the viewers that a certain actor was the first choice for playing that role. It is interesting to note how different these dramas and characters would have been entrenched in people’s memories had these actors not rejected these scripts.
Here is the list of those Pakistani actors who refused popular dramas and talked about them. Most often when actors reject a drama, they don’t always talk about it.
[lwptoc]
Faysal Qureshi (Hamsafar)
Faysal Qureshi was the first choice for playing Asher’s role in Hamsafar. After reading the script he wasn’t too impressed therefore he decided not to play the role. Faysal Qureshi loves playing challenging roles, he likes variations in the characters he plays therefore he found this script to be too plain. In an interview, Faysal also shared that he finds it really difficult to romance on screen. Perhaps, that was another reason why he refused to play Asher’s role. It was only after Faysal Qureshi rejected the role that Fawad Khan was offered it. Hamsafar went on to become the most iconic dramas in Pakistani drama history. Fawad and Mahira’s on-screen couple also became a massive hit. Imagine how it all would have turned out has Faysal Qureshi accepted the script!
Sonya Hussyn (Mere Pass Tum Ho)
Sonya Hussyn was the first choice for playing the role of Mehwish in Mere Pass Tum Ho which was later played by Ayeza Khan. The producer of the play Humayun Saeed shared in an interview that initially he wanted to cast Aisha Khan in the role but she got married and left showbiz. Sonya Hussyn was the next choice for playing the role. Sonya however refused to play the role because she did not want to play a character that portrayed a female in such negative light. Mere Pass Tum Ho was a massive hit but Sonya does not regret her decision at all. She shared in an interview that her decision was well-thought-out therefore she is happy that Ayeza did justice to the character.
Fawad Khan (Bin Roye and Mata-e-Jaan)
Bin Roye is the only Pakistani film that was also shown in the form of a drama serial on television. After Hamsafar, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan’s on-screen jodi became a massive hit, which is why Fawad Khan was the first choice for playing the role of Irtiza in Bin Roye. Fawad Khan was busy with his projects in India at the moment therefore he rejected the offer. Humayun Saeed played that role then and Bin Roye turned out to be a popular drama and film.
Fawad Khan was also the first choice for playing the role of Ibad (Aabi) in Mata-e-Jaan Hei Tu. This was another drama written by Farhat Ishtiaq, the writer of Hamsafar and Bin Roye and the producer was the same as well. Yet again Fawad could not be part of the project because he was not in the country and could not get the visa on time.
Feroze Khan (Mere Pass Tum Ho)
Humayun Saeed, who was also the producer of Mere Pass Tum Ho offered Feroze Khan the lead role of Danish in Mere Pass Tum Ho which he later essayed himself. Feroze Khan in an interview clearly stated that he was not very fond of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar who wrote the script for Mere Pass Tum Ho. Feroze also shared that he did not like the writer because in his opinion he was too proud. When the role was offered to Feroze Khan, he quoted a certain amount he wanted for the role and that hurt the sensitivities of the writer. Feroze said that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar takes pride in the fact that people beg to work in his drama so perhaps his pride was hurt when Feroze wanted a certain amount for playing the role and did not take the opportunity without any demands.
Hira Mani (Dil Ruba)
Dil Ruba is a popular Hum TV drama that aired in 2020. Kashf is another drama which is aired Hum in the same year and was a big hit as well. Hira Mani played the leading role in the drama serial Kashf and Hania Aamir played the lead in Dil Ruba. In an interview, Interestingly enough, Hira shared that she was given the scripts for both these dramas simultaneously. When she read Dil Ruba’s script, it did not appeal to her therefore she rejected it. Hira said that she wants the characters she plays to be different from each other and they should contain some meaning or message for the audience. Had Hira Mani decided to play the leading role of Sanam in Dil Ruba, Hania wouldn’t have been playing the role.
Mahira Khan (Kankar)
Mahira Khan had the option of choosing between Shehr-e-Zaat and Kankar. Both these drama serials were written by Umera Ahmed and were being produced by MD Productions. Mahira Khan wanted to do something entirely different from Hamsafar therefore she asked the producer Momina Duraid who is also her friend to help make this difficult decision. Momina Duraid advised Mahira Khan to do Shehr-e-Zaat and that is how Sanam Baloch got to play the leading role of Kiran in Kankar. Otherwise, it could have been the other way around perhaps, who knows. Mahira Khan definitely had a tough choice ahead of her but she made the right one.
Sajal Ali (Khuda Aur Mohabbat)
Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 is one of the grandest dramas we have seen in recent times. Iqra Aziz is playing the leading role in the drama alongside Feroze Khan. Many people might not know that Iqra Aziz was not the first choice for playing this role. Sajal Ali was offered this role initially but she refused to do it. In a live session on Instagram Imran Abbas revealed this and Sajal merely remarked that she would have taken up the role had Imran Abbas been playing the lead with her in the drama. We are all well acquainted with Feroze Khan and Sajal Ali’s past relationship therefore it is highly likely that Sajal refused to be a part of the drama due to that reason.
Ahsan Khan (Haiwan)
Ahsan Khan is one of those actors who are seen playing all kinds of characters. Ahsan took experimentation to a whole new level when he starred in a negative role in the drama serial Udaari. Although this role was pure evil the viewers were captivated and impressed by Ahsan Khan’s remarkable performance. This is the reason why he was offered to play another similar character in the drama serial Haiwan which was later played by Faysal Qureshi. In a recent interview, Ahsan Khan revealed that he did not want to be typecast therefore he refused to be a part of this particular project.
Ayeza Khan (Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb)
Ayeza Khan’s name guarantees ratings. Every drama she is a part of is an instant hit. However, it would be safe to say that Ayeza Khan has barely taken up any challenging roles. Perhaps that is the reason why she refused to play Shakra’s character in the drama serial Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb. Ayeza Khan, herself never talked about the offer but Yumna Zaidi in an interview revealed that this drama was offered to Ayeza first but she refused to be a part of it. This was a difficult character to play and perhaps one that Ayeza did not feel comfortable translating on screen.
Neelam Munir (Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb)
Neelam Munir joined the drama industry at a young age and she has been part of many popular dramas. She has also lately done films. In an interview, Yumna Zaidi revealed that the character she played in Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb was offered to Neelam Munir as well. When Yumna found out that Neelam had refused to play the character, she was more conscious than ever since she believes that Neelam is a phenomenal actress. Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb was one of the most liked Pakistani dramas and Yumna’s character kept everyone wondering right till the end.
Mohsin Abbas Haider (Khaani)
Mohsin Abbas Haider is a singer, poet, and actor who has done quite a few challenging roles in his career. He is definitely not the kind of actor who believes in playing stereotypical roles. Surprisingly enough, Mohsin Abbas was the first choice for playing Mir Hadi’s character in Khaani. This character was later played by Feroze Khan and the drama itself was a mega-hit. Mohsin Abbas shared in an interview that he refused to be a part of the project because he had prior commitments.
Osman Khalid Butt (Dobara)
Osman Khalid Butt has a huge fan following and he tries his best to choose the dramas he is a part of really carefully. After being a part of Ehd-e-Wafa, Osman Khalid Butt chose to do a comedy Ramazan special drama Chupke Chupke. While he was shooting for the drama, he was offered to play Mahir’s character in the drama serial Dobara opposite Hadiqa Kiyani. In a recent interview, he shared that he regrets his decision now. Dobara has been a massive hit and the role that was initially offered to Osman is now being done by Bilal Abbas and the viewers are loving him as Mahir.
Ali Zafar (Sang-e-Mah)
Sang-e-Mah is one of the most unusual yet appealing dramas produced by the Pakistani drama industry. Hilmand’s character played by Atif Aslam in the drama has been the center of attention right from the beginning. The director of Sang-e-Mah Saife Hassan shared in a recent interview that Ali Zafar was the first choice for playing the role. After reading the script he refused to play the character. Atif Aslam was on the other hand quite excited to play the role.
Usama Khan (Sinf-e-Aahan)
Usama Khan is one of those actors who polished their acting skills with time and right now he is acting in the drama serial Dobara is being liked by the viewers. Usama Khan does not accept every offer that comes his way. He was also given the opportunity to be a part of Sinf-e-Aahan but he refused. Although he did not mention which role was offered to him, we are guessing that he was offered to play Kamil’s role in the drama which is now being played by Junaid Jamshed.

Pakistani music is hands down the best in the whole world. People have always been drawn to the very feel of it. But a time came when all our musicians had to reach the audience were drama OSTs since band culture was dead and the music industry was in shambles. But things have improved greatly in the past few years with 2017 being a good year for musicians. We had the opportunity to listen to our favourite musicians through drama OSTs, films, Coke Studio and we got fresh music via Pepsi Battle Of The Bands. Fresh musicians have come in the industry and the old legends have again given their fans a lot of songs to love them more. Here are some musicians who blew their fans this year with the awesome music they made:
Sahir Ali Bagga:
This guy has a magical voice and a fierce understanding of music and people’s tastes. He knows what people will love and that is the reason he rarely goes wrong. Sahir was on a roll this year. He directed some very beautiful OSTs like that of Sang e Mar Mar and the recent O Rangreza. His vocals were a part of many famous tracks too. O Rangreza is ruling the charts right now due to its magical chords and vocals. The recent rendition of the song that came out in Sajjal Aly’s voice is also getting appreciation. He sang and directed several tracks in Coke Studio this season and people loved it. His duet with Aima Baig, Baazi was loved by the audience. All in all, Sahir Ali Bagga was at the top of his game this year.
Jaffer Zaidi:
Jaffer is a well-known singer as his band Kaavish is loved by the audience. This year Coke Studio completed a decade as its tenth season went on air. But the normal level was severely lacking. Only a few songs were good enough to be played again and again and Jaffer was a part of those one way or the other. Kaavish sang Faasle with Qurutulain Baloch which was truly soulful and was the kind of music one listens to calm down the rushing nerves. Jaffer was the music director of some of the very good numbers including Ranjish Hi Sahi, Faasle, Naina Moray. All his songs this season were worth a play but remained a bit underrated, maybe because they had no eye candies in them. But Jaffer did what he had to do and it is good music.
Shuja Haider:
Shuja Haider is one of the most sought-after musicians we have. He also gave us some hits this year. The most recent one is the soundtrack of Baaghi. His music and vocals made the song outstanding and showcased the true essence of Baaghi. His songs in this year’s Coke Studio also got massive views. Some of them are Allah u Akbar, Jaan-e-Bahaaraan, Sab Maya Hai and Baanware. His music was on point and he was undoubtedly one of the most successful musicians for 2017.
Sajjad Ali:
Sajjad Ali also became a part of this year’s Coke Studio. He gave us two promising songs and a new promising singer which happens to be his daughter Zaw Ali. Zaw justified her presence in Coke Studio when she sang Ronay Na Diya alongside her father. Sajjad made that song a masterpiece and some parts of it sounded even better than the original. His other song Tera Naam for which he was not only the music director but the lyricist too was also good. Sajjad once again proved why he is still one of the most talented musicians we have in Pakistan.
Aima Baig:
Aima was known as the singer from Mazaq Raat initially but this year proved to be full of opportunities for Aima. She started off by singing Kalabaaz Dil for Lahore Se Aagey which was a hit. People liked the song more than they liked the movie. She also sang Kaif o Suroor which is another hit from the movie Na Maloom Afraad 2. The year 2017 also marked Aima’s Coke Studio Debut. She sang alongside big names as Sahir Ali Bagga, Humera Arshad and Shuja Haider. Aima undoubtedly deserves a place on this year’s list due to the work she has done.
Bilal Ali:
Pepsi Battle Of The Bands aired this year and the music industry got many talented musicians from it. The winner of this season was Kashmir and a huge credit for this win goes to their lead vocalist Bilal Ali. Bilal has a unique voice and he did justice to every song. Their songs Budha Baba and Kagaz Ka Jahaz got immense love by the audience. Bilal’s voice quality matches to that of Atif Aslam slightly. He sang soulfully every time and that got him and his band to the winning trophy.
Vais Khan:
Few musicians have the ability to attract the audience like Vais does. Most of the times when one is listening to a band, the focus always remain on the lead vocalist. But Vais was loved by the audience and the judges alike by the way he performed. He knows his craft and the tunes he played made him one of the best artists who came out of Pepsi Battle Of The Bands.
Ahmed Jilani:
Another talent we found from Pepsi Battle Of The Bands. Ahmed Jilani has powerful vocals. He along with his band created some extremely good music as they mixed rock and Sufi together. His unique voice quality even made the edginess he added to Bismillah Karaan a must listen. His band Badnaam were the runner-ups but they made a lot of fans during their journey.
Daud Ramay:
Daud is the drummer of Roots. He performed so well in some songs where nothing was going right, his beats and chops were. Judges appreciated his talent many times and he showed how a good drum playing can take a song many levels above. Daud is a very talented musician and showed his talent throughout the season. It will be worth-watching when we will see him next.
These are the top musicians for the year 2017. We had music directors, singers and the musicians who make the beats of the songs aka instrument players all shining bright this year. One great thing which Pepsi did this year was giving equal recognition to all musicians and not just the singers, which was a very good step. Do you find any other name that should be a part of this list? Go ahead and suggest in the comments section.

Pakistani media is a very rapidly growing institution. This increasing media has developed a war in between these famous channels. Some media anchors are still fighting for right path and ethics. In this article I will be focusing on the top five anchors of Pakistan. This list is made on the choice of the viewers and their fan following. Some of them are high ranked on the basis of the ratings of their channels. Your opinion is very much appreciated so do come up with your suggestions.
Starting of with the top notch veteran journalist Talat Hussain, he is ranked as the top most among this list. This ranking is on the basis of his bold and positive opinions about the certain issues happening in Pakistan. He has a whole lot of work experience; he has worked in PTV, Aaj TV, Dawn news and also in Express News. I find this anchor as very honest and straight forward. He is a great anchor and also a very clean person in his personal life as well. I have also met him personally and he is a very down to earth personality. He was offered to become the care taker minister by the government but he refused to do so. Nowadays he has started working with Bahria University Islamabad and this is a great opportunity for the students of the university.
Second among the list of the top five anchors of Pakistan is Moeed Pirzada. He has completed his masters in internet and media regulation. He has also done masters in International Finance and Economics. He also has a huge work experience. Moeed Pirzada has worked with Dunya TV, PTV news and Waqt news. He is currently working as director world affairs and hosts a popular talk show Sochta Pakistan. In this program national, regional, strategic, social and educational issues with leading politicians, analysts and policy makers are discussed in detail.
Third among the list is Nadeem Malik. He is currently working in Samaa TV and Aaj TV. He is in the list of top five anchors because he has an unbiased and neutral opinion for all sorts of issues. For an anchor it is a very important to be focused on what you are saying by being totally unbiased. He is a very liberal person but he has never had any double minded point of view. He never uses his opinion for misguiding others. Viewers usually get carried away with certain misguiding views and statements; this is why an anchor must know what to say and how to say whatever he wants to. He is very well known for his stinging writing style and spot on analysis.
The fifth among this ranking is Absar Alam. He is a senior journalist and a news anchor. He worked for Geo Network and is working nowadays with Aaj TV. He speaks the truth no matter what. Controversies and scandals are part and parcel of an actor’s life. In this era of social media, it doesn’t take much for anything to go viral and spread like wildfire. Some actors make sure to stay away from any kind of controversies and in order to do that, they make sure to stay politically correct or calculated in their responses. Some actors on the other hand are unapologetically opinionated and they do not shy away from saying what is in their hearts. Celebrities are always in the limelight so it is very natural for them and the nature of their job to come under scrutiny for everything they say or do. These controversies die down quickly but they do leave an impact and stay embedded as the chapters in the book of an actor’s life.
Saba Qamar Zaman is one of those few actors who has touched the sky and has earned a star status with her immense hard work and persistence. Saba Qamar Zaman is one such actor who does not shy away from saying the truth out loud or sharing what she feels about any given situation. Over the years, Saba has proved that she is unapologetically honest and will never sugarcoat things. She says what she feels and does not care whether her opinions sit well with others or not. Even though Saba Qamar Zaman is focused and she means business, she has often landed herself in scandals and controversies, which revolved around her personal or professional life.
Let’s take a look at the controversies that have been a part of Saba Qamar Zaman’s career:
Saba Qamar Zaman Called Salman Khan ‘Chichora’
Saba Qamar has been a part of the Pakistani drama industry for years now. She was invited to morning show hosted by Noor Bukhari named Good Morning Zindagi and there she was asked about her opinion on working with different Bollywood actors. While appearing in the show, Saba stayed true to her nature and she gave unfiltered answers. Saba must’ve had no idea that she will land herself a leading role in a Bollywood movie in the future. Saba was asked about famous Bollywood actors and given some imaginary situations, but she did not have anything nice to say about them.
When asked if Saba will have to reject Hritik Roshan’s proposal, how would she do that, Saba said “she didn’t want a father of two and he’s not her cup of tea”
When asked about working with Emraan Hashmi, Saba said, “she didn’t want mouth cancer”
When Saba was shown Ritesh Deshmukh’s photo, Saba said, “she was an A-lister actor of Pakistan, so she’d only want to work with A-list actors”
When Saba was shown a picture of Salman Khan, she said “He was a chichora and that he didn’t know how to dance”.
Saba Qamar debuted in a Bollywood movie “Hindi Medium”, starring opposite Irrfan Khan. It was released in May, 2017. The Indian media dug deeper into Saba Qamar’s career and past and that is when they found out the clip from Saba Qamar’s interview and they made a huge issue out of it. Saba Qamar was also confronted and questioned about her opinions but she brushed it off jokingly by giving an example of Koffee With Karan, saying what is not stated in that show, similarly what she said was all in good humor and fun. Saba Qamar also took her words back and said Salman Khan is a superstar and he is very humble, why would she say anything like that about him?
Saba Qamar Zaman and Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Relationship
In 2014, pictures of Saba Qamar and Hamza Ali Abbasi went viral on the internet and people started speculating whether they were in a relationship or not. Those pictures suggested the obvious because both Saba and Hamza seemed a bit too comfortable with each other. Saba Qamar also posted ‘I love you” on one of Hamza Ali Abbasi’s pictures but later deleted it. When Saba appeared in Tonite with HSY, she refuted all the rumours. Saba said that it was a prank played by Hamza who used her mobile phone and commented that on his own picture using her account. That’s all that Saba Qamar had to say about this controversy. She said they were just good friends but later they both drifted apart.
Saba Qamar Zaman Called Hamza Ali Abbasi “Mardon Ki Meera”
In 2014, Saba and Hamza’s equation turned sour when Hamza Ali Abbasi took it to the internet and openly spoke against item songs and item girls in Pakistani films. At that time, Saba Qamar had done an item number for the movie Mastani herself and she took offence to Hamza Ali Abbasi’s statement. In a Facebook post, Saba Qamar just mentioned Mardon Ki Meera and further elaborated her point of view in the comment section. That was the final nail in the coffin that both Hamza Ali Abbasi and Saba Qamar will not be friends anymore.
Saba Qamar Zaman Took A Dig At Mahira Khan’s Rap:
In 2017, Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt performed a rap song at Lux Style Awards. Saba Qamar had boycotted Lux Style Awards citing prejudice against her as one of the biggest reasons. Saba Qamar also stated that now that she had done a movie in Bollywood, she was being treated as a royalty whereas in the past, none of her work was acknowledged or appreciated. In 2017, both Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar debuted in Bollywood movies and both Raees and Hindi Medium did well at the box office. These films gave Mahira and Saba a platform to let everyone know their caliber as actors.
Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt performed the rap and one of the lines of the rap said “kya appki filmain bhi hain 100 crores kamati”. This was all fun and games and it did not look like Mahira Khan was indirectly insulting Saba Qamar. Later when Hindi Medium surpassed Raees’ box office collection, Saba Qamar quoted this line from Mahira Khan’s rap and openly reprimanded it saying she did not like insulting jokes. Mahira Khan had openly wished Saba Qamar good luck and she never once make it look like there was some sort of competition going on between her and Saba. After this post, Saba let it know that she did take it as a competition because everyone on both sides of the border was comparing both Mahira and Saba. This post of Saba also proved that she took that rap personally and later when she got a chance, she got back at Mahira. Osman Khalid Butt, who was the lyricist of this rap took it to his social media and explained the thought process behind this rap.
Saba Qamar Zaman’s Leaked Pictures From A Photoshoot
In 2018, Saba Qamar did a photoshoot and while she was taking a break, someone clicked her pictures and made them viral. In those pictures, Saba Qamar’s clothing as well as her smoking were highlighted and that turned into a huge controversy. Saba Qamar decided to stay silent on this matter but her colleagues and friends from the fraternity like Aijaaz Aslam, Adnan Siddique and Osman Khalid Butt came in support of Saba Qamar. Some of her friends also said that they knew who it was that leaked the pictures and that they will no longer work with them. Saba Qamar was heavily criticized for her choices and trolled badly but she chose to stay silent and did not address this issue.

People who may not be familiar with the drama world but counts Humsafar drama in the top ten dramas of all times. The last episode of this drama gathered the TRP of 13.8 which is the highest ever TRP produced by any drama.
2 Zindagi Gulzar Hai
Yet again a drama that absolutely needs no introduction and above all this drama is my most favourite drama. This drama was directed by CEO Sultana Siddiqui and written by Umera Ahmed. This was yet another drama with powerful storyline and strong cast. This drama marks another success of HUM-TV in terms of producing quality dramas. Another drama that was extremely popular all around the globe. The whole drama managed to maintain the TRP in between 6.5 and 8.
3 Dastaan
Dastaan drama was written by Samira Fazal for screen but the actual story was written by Razia Butt. Directed by Haissam Hussain, Dastaan is a story of a girl called Banu who suffered atrocities and pain during Pakistan India partition. Dastaan drama was titled as a most challenging subject since it was based on partition and how Muslims had sacrificed their lives so that Pakistan can came into existence and what our nation is actually doing. Though Dastaan never managed to gather enough TRP but people mention this drama as the top ten drama of all times.
4 Shehr e Zaat
Like Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar hai, Shehr e zaat was also an extremely popular play of HUM-TV. It is a journey of a young woman who wants to serve her life for ALLAH after getting introduced to harsh realities of life. The drama received critical acclaim by audience. Written by Sarwat Nazir and directed by Babar Javed, Main Abdul Qadir Hoon was the extremely popular drama of its own time. Through its unique storyline and Fahad Mustafa’s powerful acting this drama easily grasped the huge audience attention and was widely discussed when it was ON-AIR. This drama also becomes the reason for Fahad Mustafa’s massive fame.
7 Dil e Muzter
Dil-e-Muzter was a popular drama of HUM-TV aired in 2013. Written by Aaliya Bukhari and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri the drama was based on a triangle love story. From this drama Sanam Jung made a hit debut on screen as a leading lady like Syra Yousuf. Beside story the reason for its success is the direction of play.
8 Kankar
Although Kankar drama got stretched but just because of its good direction and interesting story of domestic abuse on women the drama managed to acquire audience attention. Another reason of the success of this drama was the popular cast e.g Sanam Baloch, Fahad Mustafa and Maha Warsi.
I know that there are many other shows as well for example “MAAT” and “Dur-e-Shahwar” but list will become much longer.
GEO-ENTERTAINMENT
Geo Entertainment channel stand on number three in terms of providing good entertainment to the public. Geo Entertainment had provided number of good plays to the audience some gathered good TRPs but some failed to capture audience attention for example “Ranjeesh Hi Sahi”. Let’s Identify the Top Brands of Geo Entertainment.
1. Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan
MZZB is the ever best drama that was telecast on Geo Entertainment. A serial written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Babar Javed become very popular from the day it went ON-AIR. Drama and its OST was widely praised by the audience and producer Humayun Saeed specially thanked the public for making the show successful. This drama touched the maximum TRP of 10.
2. Khuda aur Muhabbat
Just like MZZB Khuda aur Muhabbat was also the successful drama of its own time. This drama was written by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Anjum Shehzad.
3. Uraan
Uraan is another successful serial that went ON-AIR on Geo Entertainment. It was written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Yasir Nawaz. Lead cast include Humayun Saeed, Aaminah Sheikh, Saba Qamar and Zhalay Sarhadi. This drama touched the highest TRP of 8.2. The plot revolves around a psychiatrist who himself got psychological problems.
4. Aasmano pe likha
Aasmono Pe Likha is the second most successful drama of Geo Entertainment after MZZB. This drama received extreme popularity from the beginning and its story was widely appreciated by the audience. Aasmano Pe Likha touched the highest TRP of 10. The story was based on a girl name Qudsia who accidentally got married to a rich guy Aaliyan.
5. Bashar Momin
This is the most expensive serial of all times, unfortunately the drama went off air shortly because Geo Entertainment received ban from the government. The reason it was included in the top brands because first of all it is the most expensive drama and secondly it was highly advertised by Geo-TV before the release and expected to receive high TRPs. This serial is written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and directed by Syed Ali Raza Usama.
6. Aik Nayee Cindrella
Most of you find this surprising but yes Aik Nayee Cindrella drama is among Top Dramas of Geo-Tv. This drama was written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Haissam Hussain. The drama received positive credits from the viewers because the story connects you to the Disney world stories. It was on second after Zindagi Gulzar and received the overall TRP of 6.7. Nadia Khan held a special show for this drama where the lead cast Maya Ali and Osman Khalid Butt were invited.
7. Nanhi
Nanhi is a story of young girl whose aims are different from other girls. This drama was written by Mona Haseeb and directed by Haseeb Hassan and received the overall TRP of 6.5.
ARY Digital
ARY Digital currently stands on number second in providing the quality entertainment to its viewers. ARY Digital had only provided some great dramas but has played a key role in revival of cinema. Successful films such as Waar and Main hoon ShahidAfridi were released under the banner of ARY Digital and there are more films yet to be released. Let’s Identify the Top Brands of ARY Digital.
Pyaray Afzal
Although ZGH stands on top of my list but I must say that this is the highest quality drama ever produced by Humayun Saeed Production. A drama that took people by storm and it was not only extremely popular in Pakistan but all around the globe. ARY Digital needs many years now to telecast such quality again. This is for sure the TOP Brand ever by ARY Digital.
Shukk
Although Shukk was over stretched and the worst thing about ARY Digital is that as drama starts to give them TRP they decide to stretch it for no reason. Shukk received applauses at start but criticism at the end. The reason behind the success of this drama was direction and debateable storyline.
Daam
I have to admit that before Pyaray Afzal, Daam was the only best drama telecast on ARY Digital. This drama was actually an eye opener for the society and it will clarify lots of things that happens in society. This is one of the best play ever written by Umera Ahmed. Daam received the highest TRP of 8.4. The drama was directed by Mehreen Jabbar.
Kuch Pyaar Ka Pagal Pan
Although KPKPP got nothing much to offer in terms of story line, the only success of this drama was popular and hit cast Fawad Khan, Sanam Baloch, Ayesha Khan and Meekal Zulfiqar. The whole drama got appreciable rating of 5 to 6.
A-PLUS
A-PLUS channel is now getting popularity as it is now beginning to provide some good quality dramas to the viewers. Let’s Identify the Top Brands of A-PLUS Channel.
Aunn Zara
Aunn Zara is the best play ever being telecast on A-PLUS. This drama was a breath of fresh air for most of the audience when people were literally tired of so called “Mazloom Aurtein”. Despite being telecast on least watched channel Aunn Zara sometimes defeated Kankar in terms of TRP. Aunn Zara was not only extremely popular in Pakistan but in India as well. A-PLUS might never be able to telecast such masterpiece again.
Marasim
Dramas like Marasim are rarely produced nowadays. A drama that is extremely close to realities of life. There are many hidden messages to life in just one play. Marasim is another kind of masterpiece that A-PLUS might never telecast again. This play was written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and extremely well directed by Owais Khan.
Thus my list ends here, I know that I have missed many plays especially in HUM-TV section and I also know that some of you might not agree with me. So please tell me which drama you consider a top drama of a particular channel that was missed by me? and what are your predictions which drama can be next TOP Brand for either channel?
Talat Hussain is a legend who will always be remembered for his achievements in the field of arts and entertainment for Pakistan. His contributions and works will serve as an academy for all the upcoming artists in the field. Talat Hussain was unwell for some time now and he was also suffering from dementia. He passed away leaving behind his family, millions of his admirers and his colleagues who always felt warmth and support from his side.
Many of Talat Hussain’s colleagues came to pay their last respects at his funeral. Behroze Sabzwari talked about how positive his personality was and he never back-bited in all his life. Rubina Ashraf and Hina Bayat shared how Talat Hussain is not a mere artist but a whole academy for the upcoming talent. Similarly, Noor ul Hassan Mohammad also paid his repects to the star.
Here are the sentiments they shared for the legendary artist:
In any drama, after the writer and the director, the responsibility solely lies on the actor as to how he carries forward the drama with his or her acting because where the writer and the director do their jobs behind the camera, the actors are supposed to bring the concept and hard-work of the drama-makers to life in front of the camera. If we put it in simple words, actors are those entities who actually convey the story and make the viewers connect with the characters and understand what the drama-makers are trying to convey.
The viewers have come across a lot such drama where just because of the substandard acting of the actors, the drama couldn’t do well despite the script or the direction being good but we have seen a lot such dramas too, where just because of the phenomenal acting of the actors, a drama based on a comparatively simple script did really well in terms of popularity because the actors did their part well and elevated the level of the entire project, which struck a chord with the viewers.
Here is a list of those actors who ruled the television screens this season because of their phenomenal performances. The list is in alphabetical order.
Adnan Shah Tipu
Adnan Shah Tipu is an extraordinary character actor whose spell-binding performances always leave the viewers in awe of his talent. This is the reason why very often he is chosen to play difficult roles. Nowadays he is playing the role of Bubbly in drama serial Khuda Mera Bhi Hai which is an exceptionally tough role to play but Adnan Shah Tipu manages to pull it off flawlessly and effortlessly. He translates Bubbly’s emotions impeccably on screen and makes the viewers look forward to his scenes.
Aisha Khan
Aisha Khan’s remarkable performance in both her plays this season has impressed many viewers out there. She plays two different roles in Noor-e-Zindagi and Khuda Mera Bhi Hai but has managed to do complete justice to both of them. There are times when Aisha Khan’s make-up can be too loud even when it needs to be toned down but her acting is always flawless in both these dramas. It is good to see her being part of projects which have room for performance because she is someone who has years of experience and can be a remarkable performer if she is given meaty roles to play.
Asma Abbas
Asma Abbas is not only a brilliant performer but she is also remarkably versatile. She has proven her versatility time and again by playing roles which always have tons of rooms for performance and are never the same. This time around she is absolutely hilarious in a role which once again shows her versatility in drama serial Khoobsurat. She is one of those actors who can make you laugh and cry because her portrayals are always superb.
Ayeza Khan
Ayeza Khan outshines in drama serial Shehrnaz because of her brilliant and confident performance. She plays the role of a girl who comes from a lower middle class background but hopes to make it big one day. This character itself had the potential to be annoying if it was not translated on screen properly. Ayeza Khan’s natural look in scenes when there is no need to look glamorous, her honest approach towards acting overall and most of all her confidence in her abilities is evident from her performance in Shehrnaz. Ayeza Khan has proved that when a performance comes straight from the heart it has a profound effect on the viewers.
Hassan Noman
After impressing people as Ilyas Kashmiri in Preet Na Kariyo Koi, Hassan Noman did is again as Bulbul Khan in Sang e Marmar. Even though till date Bulbul’s coverage got a very limited coverage, but Hassan Noman stole the show in those few scenes because of his impressive performance. Hassan Noman himself is Pathan, that is why out of all the actors, he is the one who has really put an extra effort into the Pushto Urdu accent, which sets his performance apart from the other actors. Bulbul Khan is added as a comic factor in the drama and Hassan Noman surely has done justice to it because he lights up the mood whenever he appears on our TV screens.
Hina Bayat
Hina Bayat is one of the most talented and versatile actresses of our drama industry who changes her outlook and her acting style to match the character which is playing on screen. She has played many different characters in her career, each one of them has been different and appealing. Right now her character in Dil Banjara has won the hearts of many not only because it is a character very different from the ones we see on screen usually but also because Hina Bayat has performed exceptionally well. Also, for the longest time she was the only good thing about Sanam.
Humayun Ashraf
Humayun Ashraf is seen as Abdullah in Khuda Aur Mohabbat. Humayun has been in the industry for quite some time now but his performance in Khuda Aur Mohabbat has to be the best one so far. Even though the character of Abdullah doesn’t get much coverage and is a very subtle character, Humayun Ashraf steals the show every single time he comes on screen because he does justice to the character that has been assigned to him. Humayun has made Abdullah’s one-sided love seem so pure and beautiful that one can’t help feel the purity of his intentions.
Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas is playing the main lead as Hammad in Khuda Aur Mohabbat and he has has yet again proved his mettle as an actor. The character of Hammad itself is so admirable but what makes it better is Imran Abbas’s perfect and flawless acting. Imran Abbas is one such actor who knows how to perfectly convey the emotions and feelings of love and this is why, he has made the journey of Hammad in Khuda Aur Mohabbat even more impressive and heart-warming.
Kaif Ghaznavi
A very manipulative character who makes her perspective seem justified and her scheming understandable. Kaif Ghaznavi has given a phenomenal performance as Faree; a very selfish woman who thinks only about herself first and cunningly makes it look like she is thinking about the benefit of her entire family. Kaif Ghaznavi’s persuasive tone with which her character puts forth her point of view and then convinces others to agree to it makes her performance absolutely brilliant. Kaif Ghaznavi’s dialogue delivery, expressions and very calming voice are some of the strong points of her acting.
Kubra Khan
Even though Kubra Khan has just stepped into the drama world and viewers were a little skeptical about her being a part of a drama like Sang e Marmar, Kubra Khan has put all the speculations to the rest with her beautiful performance. The way Kubra Khan has acted like Shireen, goes to show that she put her heart and soul into this performance and by paying extra heed to the director, she allowed him to guide her through to the right direction. It is only because of the treatment Kubra gave to Shireen’s character that the viewers felt her pain every step of the way. With Kubra’s beautiful performance in Sang e Marmar, she surely has raised the bar high and has also raised the viewers’ expectations from her.
Madiha Imam
Even though the drama Dhaani has lost the pace and the charm completely and at this stage of the drama, Madiha Imam is nowhere to be seen but in the first-half, Madiha Imam ruled the drama as Dhaani. Dhaani’s character was all about fun, laughter and living your life to the fullest and Madiha Imam gave a perfect treatment to the character. She elevated the level of the drama with her flawless and effortless acting to such an extent that now when her character has taken fizzled into the background, viewers are not at all happy about it.
Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan is the only saving grace of Bin Roye because of her powerful portrayal. There are many viewers who find Bin Roye worth-watching only because of Mahira Khan’s performance and they find it much easier to connect to Saba’s character than any other character in the play. Mahira Khan has grown tremendously as an actress and she is one of those few actresses who never rely on make-up which gives her characters a more natural feel.
Masroor Paras
Masroor Paras is seen as Torah Khan in Sang e Marmar and he most certainly has the viewers hooked to his character and his acting. Masroor Paras got to play the most complicated character in the drama but it is because of his phenomenal acting that the thought process of such a twisted character was made so easy for the viewers to understand. It is a very tough job to make a manipulative character like Torah seem justified for what he does and Masroor Paras has achieved that, that too in his very first project, which is commendable. The way Masroor Paras has changed his body language and overall persona to fit the image of a Pathan male in this drama goes to show that he is a character actor and will go a long way because he surely is a find of our industry.
Najiba Faiz
Najiba Faiz plays the role of Gullalai in Sang e Marmar, a woman who has been married for quite some time now but has been unable to have a child. Gullalai is a strong woman who is dealing with pressures in a very dignified way. Najiba Faiz has put her acting experience to good use and has made Gullalai’s predicament and ordeals come through quite clearly. Even though Gullalai has a lot of baggage to deal with in her own life, she doesn’t allow anyone to walk over her and this has been conveyed beautifully by Najiba Faiz. Gullalai’s character has some of the best come-backs directed at her opponents and the calmness with which Najiba Faiz delivers those dialogues makes her performance even better.
Noman Ejaz
Noman Ejaz is seen as Gulistan Khan in Sang e Marmar and he has given his 100% in perfectly portraying the character of a Pathan male who is not only a head of the family but also the head of the village. It was because of Noman Ejaz’s strong screen presence that just when he was nowhere to be seen in a couple of episodes, everything seemed incomplete without him. Gulistan Khan’s character has so many shades and he believes in playing mind games to the point where he gets what he wants – each and every single aspect of Gulistan’s personality has been portrayed perfectly by Noman Ejaz.
Sajid Hassan
Sajid Hassan is a exceptional actor who always makes his presence felt no matter what role he is playing but he has been especially creative while playing the role of Naseeb Gul in Shehrnaz. Naseeb Gul is a tailor who loves his daughter a lot and would do anything he can to make her dreams come true. The viewers can’t help but feel for him every step of the way.
Sania Saeed
Sania Saeed is seen as Shameem in Sang e Marmar and she became a favorite character of all the viewers in no time because of the phenomenal treatment that Sania Saeed has given to this character. Throughout the journey, it is evident that Shameem has lived a very tough life with Gulistan Khan but now she has brought herself to accept him just the way he is. Despite having zero control over how things run in her family, it is actually quite heart-warming how Shameem puts an extra effort in a very subtle way to do what she can to make things right and it is because of Sania Saeed’s impeccable performance that all the emotions and feelings that Shameem has gone through are written on her face and are expressed through her eyes. Shameem’s character has cuteness written all over it and if there’s one performance for which Sania Saeed should be awarded, it is this particular performance of hers in Sang e Marmar!
Tipu Sharif
Tipu Sharif is seen as Saif ur Rehman in Sang e Marmar, a man who is torn between his wife and sister. He is someone who took an irrational step but just to pick up the pieces, he ended up listening to his wife and is now regretting what he did because in order to save himself, he had to sacrifice his sister. Even though Tipu Sharif has been a part of the industry for a long time now and has done a considerable amount of work, this performance of his as Saif ur Rehman surely is one of the best performances he has ever done because the amount of hard-work and effort he has put into the portrayal of Saif ur Rehman is surely evident.
Uzma Hassan
After impressing the viewers with her phenomenal performances in dramas like Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahi, Mohabbat Aag Si & Dil Lagi, Uzma Hassan is seen as Sherbano in Sang e Marmar. Sherbano has negativity written all over her and it is a tough job to make the viewers hate a character completely, which Uzma Hassan has been able to achieve effortlessly in this drama. Uzma’s dialogue delivery and expressions are the strongest point of her acting and she certainly knows how to put her strengths to good use.
Zarnish Khan
Zarnish Khan’s character in drama serial Khoobsurat is a breath of fresh air. She is playing the role of Mehrma who is fun, bubbly, independent, smart and good looking! She makes you laugh and relate to her character. Zarnish Khan makes her character likable and she is the star of the show.
So, with this, we conclude the list of Top Actors of This Season. All these actors are giving their best performances in the dramas that are currently being aired and we can’t wait to see what more they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this list and feel free to add more names to it.

She finally got her big break by playing a parallel lead, a negative character in the show “Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai” which was an instant success. and then she appeared in one popular show after the other.Probabaly, the best thing about her is that she can play both negative and positive characters with ease to perfection. She can easily mold herself into the innocent characters she played in “Ik tamanna lahasil si”, “Nikhar gaye gulab sare” and ” Main gunegar nahi”. Or the extremely negative ones like “Merai harjai” “Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai” and ” Halki si khalish”. She has certainly proved her mettle in a really short time.
4. Urwa Hussain
Urwa,22, started her career as a VJ on ARY Musik. She debuted on the show “Meri ladli” which became a huge hit. After that there was no one to stop her.She proved herself as a potential acterss in serials like “Madiha Maliha” and “Kahi Un Kahi”. She has mostly negative roles but she is now gradually becoming more versitile. In her very recent comedy show “Namak Paray” and “Aik Pagal Si Larki”; it is very refreshing to see her doing comic roles.Currently, Urwa is working on her upcoming movie “Strawberry” opposite Sohail Haider.
3. Syra Yusaf
Syra,25, is a popular face of TV commercials ,appearing in almost 50 commercials up to date. She was initially seen as VJ on MTV Pakistan, she got success with her debut “Bheja Fry” and “Most Wanted”;after that she stepped into acting and left everyone awed by her acting in “Mera Naseeb”.Her performances in “Bilquees Kaur” and ” Tanhaiyan- naye silsilay” were loved by all.It was very surprising to see her playing such deep and intense roles. Syra also has the biggest fan following on social media.
2.Sanam Jung
A very talented and elegant edition to the Pakistani Drama Industry is Sanam,26, who started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and decided to try her luck in TV dramas. Her first acting venture “Dil-e-Muztar” was an instant hit. She has made the best debut. Audience adored her with her very first character as Silla and now has sky high hopes from her. Lets wait and see her versatility and flexibility as an actress.
1.Mahira Khan
Winner of three Hum TV Awards,Mahira,30,began her career as a VJ back in 2008 when she was only 16,hosting the live show ‘Most Wanted’ three days a week on MTV Pakistan and later ‘Weekand with Mahira’ on Aag TV. Due to her funky and friendly nature, both of her shows were instant hits. Before stepping into television industry, she tried her luck as film artist. Although, her debut movie”BOL” was praised both by critics and audience but I remember watching that movie and saying, ‘ She needs to learn, how to act”.Then her debut drama Neyyat went on-air and my only thought was “She really needs to go back and continue with that VJ stuff, acting is just not her thing”. Neyyat wasnt successful in capturing the attention of audience. However, her next show bowled everyone over; her drastic improvement was beyond expectations and we all know which show was that. She was even better in Shehr-e-Zaat portraying a total different character. In a very short span of time, she managed to establish her identity as a potential actor. So yes, she is at the top of my list.
I have shared my list of Top 7 Vjs which turned out to be successful Actresses.
What ranks do you give to all of them? Do share your views.
Our Industry is full of talent that is waiting to be explored and this is the reason that the ultimate destination for every singer, Video Jokey (VJ), Radio Jokey (RJ), anchor is acting. Some have turned out to be a major hit while some have just vanished after their first show. The most appreciated lot so far is of the VJ turned actresses. Here is the list of the Top 7 VJ turned actresses:
1
Mahira Khan:
Mahira Khan had started her career as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and her LIVE show was one of the highest rated shows on MTV. She also hosted the show ‘Weekends with Mahira’ on Aag TV. She got her first break as an actress from the movie ‘Bol’ which was directed by Shoaib Mansoor. I remember seeing the movie and saying ‘She needs to learn how to act’. Then Neeyat went on air and my only thought was ‘She really needs to go back to being a VJ, acting is just not her thing’. But her next show bowled everyone over, her drastic improvement was astonishing and we all know which show that was! She recently won the ‘Best Actress Award – Satellite’ for Humsafar in LSA 2013 and the ‘Best Actress’ for Shehr-e-Zaat in Hum TV Awards. After Humsafar, she was even better in Shehr-e-Zaat where she played a totally different character from all her previous shows. So yes, she tops my list!
2
Mawra Hocane:
Mawra Hocane started her career as a VJ on ATV Pakistan. She then started appearing in advertisements and was also seen in small roles in different television shows. She finally got her big break from the show ‘Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai’ where she was seen in a parallel lead and played a negative character. After that she appeared in one popular show after the other. The best quality about her is that she can play both a negative and positive character to perfection and this is the reason why she comes second in my list. She can easily mould herself into the innocent character that she played in ‘Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si’ and ‘Main Guneghar Nahi’ or the extremely negative character in ‘Mera Harjai’ and ‘Yahan Pyar Nahi Hai’. She has proved her acting skills in a very short time.
3
Alishba Yousuf:
Alishba started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and then made her debut as an actress from the show ‘Chaand Pe Dastak’. She was, however, noticed for the first time in the serial ‘Main Abdul Qadir Hoon’. Her performance in this show was below average and I could not see a bright future ahead of her but she surprised everyone with her performance in ‘Ek Nazar Meri Taraf’. I was amazed at her improvement and I started looking forward to more of her work after that. Her phenomenal performance in her last two shows ‘Tanhaiyan-Naye Silsilay’ and ‘Mere Dard Ko Zuban Mile’ has managed to awe the audiences.
4
Sanam Jung:
Sanam started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and debuted as an actress from the show ‘Dil-e-Muztar’. Sanam Jung comes 4th in my list of the Top 7 VJs. Why? Because amongst all the people in this list, she has made the best debut. Usually actors perform poorly in their first serial but she has performed like an experienced actor in her very first show. I have great expectation from her in the future!
5
Syra Yousuf:
Syra was initially seen as a VJ on MTV Pakistan and later she moved towards acting and was seen in a major role in the popular show ‘Mera Naseeb’ which turned out to be a hit. Her acting in her first serial can be considered as average but with each passing show her performance became better. Her roles in ‘Bilquees Kaur’ and ‘Tanhaiyaan-Naye Silsilay’ were liked and appreciated by everyone.
6
Urwa Hocane:
Urwa started her career as a VJ on Ary Musik and gained popularity in a very short time. She debuted as an actress from the show ‘Meri Ladli’ which became a huge hit. After that there was no stopping her, she came in one show after the other and proved herself as an actress. In most of her serials she has played negative roles but now she has slowly becoming more versatile. She is now doing a comedy sitcom called ‘Namak Paray’ and another show called ‘Aik Pagal Si larki’ and it is refreshing to see her in new roles.
7
Naveen Waqar:
Naveen Waqar started her career with the live music request show, “Pick and Choose with Fuse” on Aag TV. Not many people know that she started her career as an actor from a Tele film ‘Ab Set Hai’ but she got noticed by audiences by her negative role in Humsafar. Her role as ‘Sara’ in Humsafar was very well received by the audiences as she had done an excellent for a new comer. Her role in ‘Ainie Ki Ayegi Barat’ was also liked by the audiences.
Feel free to add to the list and do share your opinion about the ranking!

Ramadan dramas became a huge trend in Pakistan after the massive success of Suno Chanda. The 30 episodes that air daily became a fan-favorite format and an opportunity for the whole family to sit together and enjoy after a day of fasting. These dramas are all family series with a lot of comedy to make them light and digestible for every day. These dramas also have become a vehicle to launch new faces into mainstream stardom and people have become overnight superstars through the success of Ramadan dramas.
The Monoty & Desent Into Repetition
Over the years, Ramadan dramas became monotonous. The stories revolved around joint families with countless members and a love story primarily between cousins at the center of it. People were also not liking how these shows started serving as a launch pad for new faces and not much emphasis was being put into selecting good scripts. In the last two or three years, many Ramadan dramas came out that did not reach the height of popularity that their predecessors did.
The year 2025 is all set with its dramas for Ramadan and looks like all channels are going all out this time around. The good news for the fans of these shows as some really good teams have joined hands to bring the best content for the Ramadan drama watchers as the lost glory may come back this time. Here is a list of 2025 Ramadan dramas and they look promising:
Dil Wali Gali
Dil Wai Gali is the biggest Ramadan drama brought by Hum TV for its coveted 9 p.m. slot. The show has already revealed its first look and Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail will be taking on the lead roles. The duo was last seen in Zard Patton Ka Bunn which got critical acclaim. What is the best thing about Dil Wali Gali is the return of the writer-director duo Zafar Mairaj and Kashif Nisar after Kabli Pulao and Mann Jogi. This has raised a lot of hope and seems like Dil Wali Gali may get the lost glory of Ramadan dramas.
Rakshi Sweets
Rakshi Sweets is another Ramadan drama that will air this year on Green TV. The show has once again brought a pairing that fans were asking for. Sehar Khan who had a great run in Ramadan previously with Fairy Tale will be sharing the screen with Khushhal Khan. The drama is directed by Shahid Shafaat and this fresh pairing is what will be attracting a huge audience.
Kaffara Pairing
Laiba Khan and Ali Ansari made one of the most successful couples last year and they are all set to make a comeback together with a Ramadan drama. Not many details are out yet but the lead couple will be enough to pull eyeballs towards this one. Fans of Salar and Sitara will flock to this untitled drama. It will air on Geo.
Tere Aane Se 2
Tere Aane Se aired with Muneeb Butt and Komal Meer. It was a huge and chaotic drama with a fun story. This one did well but it was not a huge hit. Geo is bringing them back for their Ramadan project with a second season. Not sure how good it will be this time but the pairing is something that worked last time.
My Dear Cinderella
Khaqan Shahnawaz has worked in Ramadan drama before and it was not a huge hit. This time around he is coming back to Hum TV again with Zara Peerzada in the upcoming drama My Dear Cinderella. He is also joined by none other than Juggan Kazim. This will be another family drama with comedy. Let’s see how this new pairing works.
Aagha Ali & Saheefa Jabbar Starrer
Another Ramadan drama to hit your screens this year has Aagha Ali and Saheefa Jabbar in the lead. The show is directed by Mohsin Mirza and this is another fresh pairing. Aagha has already starred in a Ramadan drama which was not a big hit and Saheefa wanted to pick up a light show. It will be interesting to see how this one will go.
Though it seems we are getting a lot of repetitive content again this year, some shows are looking promising and they may be able to win the audience bringing back the lost glory of Ramadan dramas!
The cute dimple queen and everyone’s favourite Hania Amir is always in the news.
Starting off with Dubsmash, little did she know what the future holds for her. But here she is — with her name striking our minds whenever the talk is about good actresses of Pakistan.
However, unintentional or not, she is known to speak whatever is on her mind. This has led her to become the victim of controversies; which is sometimes out of her control.
Back in 2017 Hania recorded a snap of a man and uploaded it to social media. Although it was a fun move from Hania’s side yet people got infuriated for breaching someone’s privacy. Hania later accepted her mistake and removed the story after facing backlash.
Friend-zoned Danny Zee
Hania was seen chilling with Singer Daniyal Zafar 3 years back. People started assuming their relation when both were sharing cute photos together on Instagram. Hania shared a photo with Daniyal titled ‘Priorities’ which was pulled down by her later on. She uploaded a ‘Friendship Appreciation Video’ for Daniyal to which her alleged beau responded in a sad manner.
Hania posted her photo without make-up explaining the struggle she went through with her skin breaking out. Yasir Hussain, known for his unfiltered comments called Ishqiya star “Danedaar” during an AMA session. This infuriated Hania and all this ended up in Social Media tussle between both. This, however, was settled later on.
HANSIM Break-up Storm
When everyone was admiring the couple, Hania Amir openly denied speculations of being in relation with Asim Azhar in a live interview with her bestie Aima baig. After the news got out, social media platforms were filled with memes, jokes and sarcastic comments while HANSIM fans were all so sad. Along with that, thousands of people started arranging protests for Justice for Asim which was dealt by Ishqiya actress humorously.
Well this is something in which Hania wasn’t really involved. After her alleged breakup with Asim, people were curious about Hania’s relationship status. Twitter started flooding with the top trend, Mangni Mubarak Hania and Hania being Hania laughed it off without being offended.

Sonia Hussain:
Hats- off to her brilliant acting skills, she nails each of her roles. Whether Shikwa or from the current, a happy-go-lucky uninterested student as Farwa or as Nazoo on Urdu 1 where she plays the role of a mentally disturbed child. Versatile and confident, she is a pleasure to watch.

She is one actress who’d mould herself into any role she is given. How many ladies are like Arjumand? Are there any names which you would like to add to the list?
Mein had a lot of hype around it as it brought two big superstars Ayeza Khan and Wahaj Ali together on screen. The promos were enough to hook the audience and the overall setting and the amazing OST sung by Asim Azhar pulled people to watch Mein. But once again, the audience was deceived by the promos and the original story turned out to be entirely something else.
So, what is that you can actually take away from so many episodes of Mein. Well, there are always lessons and here are 5 takeaways from the not-so-magical world of Mein:
1.Asif Uncle:
Whether it is summer or winter, spring or autumn, whether a pandemic strikes or the world ends, one man you should aspire to be is Asif Uncle. Asif Uncle is suave, stylish and he is always composed. Yes, he got stuck with two stupid kids and the only child he deserved was Mubashira but he does not worry and keeps moving forward. He is unapologetic about everything he does and somehow always ends up looking good in every situation. So, lesson no. 1: Be Asif Uncle!
2.Style Nahi Rukna Chahiye:
What if you are getting divorced, what if your second husband is a complete loser, what if he pressurized you into getting him a second wife. Yes, you could have mental health issues and you may get blamed for all the stuff other people are pulling off; BUT: Style Nahin Rukna Chahiye! Mubashira Jaffar teaches you to take care of your fashion sense as shit will always hit the fan. At least you look good while dealing with it. Indeed she is Mubashira Jaffar and she is perfect!
3.All Losers Get Wives- Some Even 2:
It is an established fact now that Zaid is not the protagonist in this drama. He is simply a LOSER! He married Mubashira with his own consent and later abandoned her; like a loser. He left Ayra in the middle then did all things stupid and still needed Mubashira to get himself married to her while keeping his dad’s money; again like a loser and now he cannot handle either of them. So, LOSER!
Another loser is Rayyan. Why did you marry and now having a child. Why did you not object to giving the shares to Mubashira before and then later on harassed a woman. He enjoys smoking and hates responsibility. Another LOSER!
But we learn that you can get a great wife even if you are a loser and some like Zaid can even get two!
4.Job Hunt Is Not A Problem:
We have a youth bulge in this country and a huge unemployment rate as there is no way businesses can grow here. This is one side of the argument which you hear from the affected youth which is leaving this country. Then there are government officials who think this is all a lie and we have streams of milk and honey flowing through our non-existing gardens. So, turns out that the officials are right. Getting a job is so easy, Zaid got one, Ayra got two and they did not even try that hard. So, guys job hunting is easy, the fault is yours as you are probably not trying in the right manner.
5.Love In Every Form Is Overrated:
We have a Mubashira who can fall in and out of love in seconds. We have a Zaid who just keeps stacking up wives without actually loving any of them. Ayra also rates ego over love and not even in a pretty way. Ayra’s sister-in-law married her off into her husband’s killer’s house because why not. Ayra did not love her brother enough to dump a man whose father got her beloved brother killed and we have a Rayyan who does not even love himself. Thus love is overrated, not just in romantic relationships but otherwise also as none of the children love their parents and vice versa.

Pakistani drama are becoming quite popular all over the world because of their heart touching plots, mesmerizing performances and crispy climaxes. Nobody can deny the beauty of our dramas that hold the attention of all the viewers by strong characterization along with some glitz and glamour.
Nowadays, dramas are followed by natural yet outstanding performances that induce me to praise our stylish actors in return of their hard work which is highly challenging. Let’s have a look at those five sparkling stars who deserve a great round of applause:
Yumna Zaidi in Jugnoo
Well, this lady really stands out alone in the que of best ever seen acting. She portrays a character of middle class girl who is simple, immature and out spoken. Her facial expressions, delivery of words and care free walk all altogether provide a crunch to the role. Yumna proofs herself best in this unique script that pushes her on screen with full of uncertain actions and short exposition of comedy.
Sara Khan in Alvida
Sara Khan is yet another fresh talent who appeals the audience with her fantastic artistic qualities. She plays a negative role in drama serial “Alvida” introducing her as a cunning, stubborn and greedy woman who can do anything for the sake of materialistic life. The situation become more complex when she feels insecure from her husband’s attitude. Well, I must say she unfolds great acting sense and make herself picture perfect for this serial. Full marks!
Gul-e-Rana in Sartaj Mera Tou Raaj Mera
First of all, a big woo for her! Although she is not as attractive as the other young actresses are but still she reached the height of fame with classic impersonation and fanciful expressions. Her role in “Sartaj mera tou raaj mera” is of an old woman who is sharp, outspoken and happening. I would say queen of exaggeration is the justified word for this role :)
Sonia Hussain in Nikkah
Sonia Hussain is another deserving name that i come across these days. With her innocent and bubbly looks, Sonia really rules over thousands of heart from a couple years past. Her character in” Nikkah” poses a sincere, kind and forgiving housewife who sacrificed her love for the wish of her husband. Cherry on the top is her super girl attitude that is required for the success of this serial.
Nausheen Shah in Zid
O, the lady with versatility and demeanor. Nausheen Shah is one of my favorite actresses, who could not get the limelight like other successful heroines but placed herself fit for any kind of role. In “Zid” she dares to act of a drug addict obsessed with the love and care. The character also has colors of vicious plans which she made for attaining the attention of her ex-husband.
So, this is all for today. I hope my personalized list did not bother you. I found the above stated people best in their skins with loads of acting power and magnetizing personalities.
