Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 10 Review – Family Affair!

Ohkay so, even though this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar came with a major plot twist, I found it a bit too slow for my liking. Yes, I do understand that not every single episode can promise a lot of drama or a fast pace but the fact that there was so much focus on Usman’s family function, it kind of made things a bit too boring for me. Anyways, I am glad that everything is done & now the future episodes will be eventful & relevant to the actual story. I wish in stead of focusing so much on Daniyal’s family, they had shown us a scene or two of Zubiya as well.

So, the major chunk of this episode was dedicated to Usman & his wife’s anniversary celebration which Asfand, Gaiti & Faryal were planning for. Yes, for a change it is good to see such a family on screen that shares casual conversations & has a great relationship but then again, these scenes look good when they last for a few seconds as they make things light-hearted but such scenarios can definitely not fill the entire episode to make it interesting. In the middle of this, what I liked was how Gaiti was constantly trying to read what was on her husband Daniyal’s mind. I wish Daniyal hadn’t kept things to himself & he had shared something with her before he fell into the pit that was set for him.

Finally, Daniyal got heed of Urooj & he felt suspicious therefore he decided to have a background check on her but then again, I found it a bit unconvincing since Daniyal himself knew he was handling such a complicated case & was fighting such a powerful man, he should’ve been mindful of these things beforehand. I liked the way Daniyal threw a curve-ball at Urooj to confirm the doubts that he had about her but then again, he couldn’t see what was coming. I think before hiring her, Daniyal should’ve inquired about her but then again, they had to show all this to add twists & turns into the story.

Urooj finally did what she was assigned for & she succeeded in trapping Daniyal effortlessly. I still find it a bit unconvincing that in the lobby of his office, there were no CCTV cameras, like considering they are in such a field where they have to deal with people from all walks of life, it is a bit too unrealistic that this detail was missing. If they had shown this to be from the 90’s era, I would’ve given them a benefit of the doubt but then seeing they are showing us this drama in 2017, this does seem to be a loophole.

So, Usman found out about everything & rushed to see Daniyal but in stead of telling him that everything was going to be alright, Usman continued to whine about how wrong Daniyal’s decision was. I think in stead of blaming Daniyal & telling him that he shouldn’t have taken Noori’s case, Usman should reflect on himself first as to what he did to keep his son safe from getting into trouble, that too when he himself directly received a threat from Rab Nawaz Shah.

Overall, this episode was a bit too slow but yes, the things that needed to be covered which actually mattered were executed decently. It was interesting how within a few seconds after receiving the call about Urooj, Daniyal understood that she was upto something, like he could sense some trouble there & Shaz Khan acted out that entire scene brilliantly. I liked Hira Mani’s acting in this episode as well, like she has been performing well but in this episode especially the concern on Gaiti’s face for her husband was showcased perfectly by her. I am actually looking forward to the next episode because looks like Zubiya will come back into the picture too & Daniyal will have to convince his unreasonable father that he is not guilty. Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 09 – Mind-blowing!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was my absolute favorite. I must say the director should be commended here for keeping things so simple on the surface but adding so many little details in almost every other scene to give it a meaning & a depth for the viewers to enjoy. When you watch Yakeen Ka Safar you feel as if you’re watching a life of regular people unfold on-screen because that’s how effortless & realistic the director has made everything & for that he deserves a round of applause.

Daniyal finally got a direct message from Rab Nawaz Shah & he got to know what Rab Nawaz Shah is capable of doing & what he can actually do. I liked the fact that both Gaiti & Asfand felt something off about this entire situation, like it was nice to see a connection of this sort where those who are emotionally attached to Daniyal felt some unease. I think Daniyal should be a little cautious as he must be new to the field but he is not oblivious to how corrupt these politicians can be. It is good that Daniyal has this drive to help people & he feels passionately about bringing justice to Noori but then he has to keep his eyes open as well & he has to be realistic because in the end, his safety comes first & he has to take care of himself not for his family but also for Noori as her life depends on him too. Yes, Daniyal did buy a gun but then again, that’s just not enough. I so wish Usman had done something to help his son because he was the one who received Rab Nawaz Shah’s call directly.

So, Noori found out that her family has moved somewhere else & Daniyal thought he could use it against Rab Nawaz Shah in order to prove that he pressurized & harassed Noori’s family. I think being a lawyer, they should’ve shown Daniyal to be a bit more smart in a sense where he could read people’s actions & intentions. Daniyal told Urooj to take care of the confidential documents related to Noori’s case but then again, I am not sure how & why did he start trusting Urooj so easily? They should’ve shown that Daniyal had this strong sense of intuition, because of which he wasn’t trusting Urooj with such important documents. Daniyal should’ve known that being helpless didn’t mean that Urooj would be sincere to him? Like the way Urooj told him about all his problems, it definitely meant that she was in need of money so for her, all her sincerity would be with her family & the one who will pay her more will be able to get the work done from her. I wish now that Daniyal was forced to do some thinking, he also grows a little conscious around Urooj & shouldn’t trust her so easily.

Now, talking about my favorite scene of this episode, it was Zubiya’s confession to Khalil but I loved how Zubiya was brought to this point. My my, I found myself tearing up when Khalil broke down & gave Zubiya the comfort she was looking for. I found it so realistic how Zubiya’s mother guided her in her dream & told her to apologize, those who have lost their near & dear ones would know that in a time of despair, those who have left you do come & guide you in your dreams & this is exactly what happened with Zubiya. She was avoiding her family members for nearly 2 months but just because she got some guidance, she found the courage to face her father & apologize for her mistakes.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 09 - Mind-blowing!

Can we say that Khalil has redeemed himself, I think yes! Not that all that he has done in the past has been forgiven & forgotten but the fact that he is now aware of his own mistakes & feels responsible does change my perspective of him. Who would’ve thought that a father like Khalil will take the entire responsibility of his daughter’s mistakes & will end up blaming himself for what Zubiya & his entire family was going through. Khalil actually understood that this was karma’s spin on him where was now paying the price for pushing his wife to death & for doubting her purity. What I loved the most was that Khalil just didn’t admit his mistakes to himself but chose to share everything with Zubiya to put her aching heart to ease. It is true, just as much as Zubiya was affected by what she went through, this entire incident forced Khalil to reflect on his mistakes & he had no escape, that is why he had to accept that he was basically facing the brunt for all that he has done all his life.

I loved the fact that Khalil took a stand for Zubiya & told Rehan clearly that he intended to educate her daughter because that is what their mother wanted. Rehan should know that he doesn’t stand a chance now & he has zero authority. I loved how Khalil gave a shut-up call to Sheema too, just to restore Zubiya’s position in the house as even he could see that Zubiya suffered alone for such a long time & now she was begging for a chance. What I loved the most about this entire scenario was how Zubiya slept in her father’s room & how Khalil chose not to disturb her, it was like he was giving her the comfort she longed for all her life & especially in this phase where she hit the rock bottom. Telling Zubiya to have breakfast at the table with the rest of the family members was also Khalil’s way of telling her that she is not an outcast anymore. Also, Zubiya has spent a lot of sleepless nights but it was suggested that after such a long time she slept in so much of peace that too in her father’s room that she not only lost track of time but also seemed startled that she wasn’t in her room, in her own bed. Since there has been so much of focus on Zubiya’s ‘aala taleem’, I am guessing she will enroll in MBBS & may be that’s where she will cross paths with Asfand, as it was also suggested that Zubiya was a bright student, as that’s what her friends were discussing that she was focused & always on-time with her assignments.

Overall, this episode was beautiful. I enjoyed Zubiya & Khalil’s track a lot more & I can’t wait to see how Zubiya will now pick up the pieces that too with her father’s support. It is just so amazing that Khalil has now turned into a father that Zubiya never had but sadly, the one who should’ve seen all this is not here anymore. Zubiya had her mother’s love when Khalil wasn’t around & now she got her father’s love when her mother is no more. Even though I felt that Zubiya’s track became stagnant in last couple of episodes but I am glad they gave it a slow treatment because now the conversation that both Zubiya & Khalil had, had a lot of impact & it was absolutely heart-warming. I must say, Ehtashamuddin & Sajal Ali, they were the stars of this episode & while looking at them perform, I said to myself that no other actors could’ve done justice to this scene in particular the way these two did. Mind blowing! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 08 Review – Pretty Convincing!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was slow but still had some developments to its credit. I must say I love the way this drama has been directed, its like the director has made sure to make all the scenarios convincing & the grim treatment he has given to most of the situations add a lot of depth & meaning to them & not to be forgotten that specific soundtrack & that humming, it just makes things perfect!

So, Faryal got some coverage after a while & it is interesting how without making it too obvious, all of Faryal’s shortcomings & her immaturity are brought to the surface. Faryal’s attitude & her personality is completely opposite to Asfand’s & even his family, so it will definitely become difficult for them to keep up with a girl like Faryal but still it was nice to see her being treated so nicely by her in-laws-to-be. For a change, it was good to see Gaiti in Shalwar Kameez but then she fulfilled the quota by showing up in her night gown by the end of the episode. It was also good to know that Gaiti is a dietitian & she intends to run her own clinic, whereas I never saw that coming!

Khalil has lost everything, he has lost the drive to live, he has lost the courage to face the world but then again he still hasn’t understood that Sheema is equally responsible for getting the word out because usually in such situations, people brush the facts under the carpet but Sheema aired the dirty laundry of her in laws because she wanted to get revenge. It was interesting to see Sheema’s reactions & that satisfaction on her face when Khalil was handing over everything to her & Rehan. Sheema never would’ve thought that this plan of hers will yield her all these rewards that she has longed for all these years. As much as I have detested Khalil in the beginning, I find it easy to feel for him now because he hasn’t done or said anything to Zubiya & is just engulfed in his own guilt for being a failure, as a husband & also as a father!

The phone-call that Zubiya got from her cousin was so convincing because this is exactly what happens, people forget to even greet you for years but the moment they pick something, they come up & act as your well-wishers to get the gruesome details & this is exactly what her cousin Summaya was trying to do. Zubiya’s flashback of her mother was another beautiful scene, it showed that Zubiya was not only feeling lonely but she was feeling guilty for ignoring the things that her mother taught her.

So, the new entry Urooj is a spy planted by Rab Nawaz Shah’s lawyer into Daniyal’s office. To be honest, for a moment I did want to believe Urooj & her story but all this while I did find something off about her, mainly because of the actress who has been chosen for this role. I have never seen this actress playing any positive role so I thought may be she actually tried something new but she didn’t prove me wrong & ended up proving that she was once again playing a negative role in this drama. So, Urooj & her speech showcasing her helplessness got the better of Daniyal & he ended up giving her the job only to make things difficult for him further. I really hope nothing happens to Daniyal at this stage but we’ll have to see. I think Usman should have hired some security guards for Daniyal immediately after he received a phone-call from Rab Nawaz Shah because he already told Usman that things could go wrong. Also, I don’t know but I found it a little unconvincing that in such a well-reputed & well-run law firm, there were no surveillance cameras in the offices because Urooj looked through such confidential documents & no one found out about it!

Overall, this episode was interesting & I loved the direction of the last scene where Daniyal walks out of his office, like there was this quotient of suspense which was covered brilliantly. All the actors have done a great job. I really wanted to see some more developments in Zubiya’s track which thankfully the preview of the next episode promised, I think Khalil will be taking a stand for Zubiya & he will end up supporting her which will rile Rehan up. Let’s see. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 07 Review – Intense & Convincing!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was intense & I actually liked how it got a little slow by the end, like it was needed to calm things down especially after showing so much in both Zubiya & Noori’s tracks. I must say the attention to detail in this drama is commendable, like in every other scene there are very little things that add more realism & depth to the situation, which I actually enjoy watching, as it shows how much effort and hard work the director as well as the actors put in to make this show what it is today.

So, just because Rameez grew a little impatient, he ended up revealing his true face to Zubiya. I am glad that at that moment Zubiya understood everything & took an immediate action by choosing not to fall prey to more of Rameez’s lies. I liked how casually both Zubiya & Asfand crossed paths with each other, even though the situation was unfortunate but their interaction seemed totally convincing. Zubiya was definitely lucky that she not only succeeded in saving herself but also found someone who stopped Rameez from chasing her. I think all the things that those people who gathered around said made a lot of sense because this is how usually such boys and girls are perceived who are found in such a scenario. Yes, people are a bit quick to judge but then again, the fact still remains that Zubiya went to Rameez’s place by her own will. Yes, Zubiya’s intentions were pure as she wanted to get married to him but she is also guilty of crossing the boundary of her home & forsaking her family’s reputation.

Even though I feel for Zubiya a lot especially how I know about her background & the emotional trauma that she went through but the treatment that she got after returning to her home was also realistic because this is exactly how such girls are treated who are caught after being involved with someone. I always had a feeling that Rehan will turn against Zubiya & I always thought that Sheema will brain feed him, yes Sheema has played a major part in what has happened but then at this stage Zubiya is guilty too & she herself has done such a thing that no one will forgive her for. It is unfortunate but it is the truth that no one in such circumstances try to get into the girl’s head to understand why she took such a step & what pushed her to do such stuff, like in this case Rehan or even Khalil didn’t even think much about what they might’ve done wrong or where they must’ve shown the negligence for Zubiya to find comfort in a stranger. Asfand stumbling upon Zubiya’s Student ID & Zubiya’s swollen face suggesting that she got brutally hit by Rehan were a few little details that I found quite convincing. Asfand just picked her Student’s ID up but I am sure this will bring him to her in the future, how, I am definitely looking forward to that!

So, finally Jahangir & two of his friends were arrested & were made to appear in the court. For the first time we got to see the difference in the ideologies of both Usman & Daniyal. Even though Usman has made a name for himself in this field & he is considered to be one of the most well-reputed lawyers in the country, but the way he showed signs of distress & disapproved Daniyal’s choices suggested that he has earned this spot by playing it safe, whereas Daniyal is not only enthusiastic to bring a change but wants to help people as much as he can even if it means putting himself in danger. Where Usman believes in putting his safety & comfort first, Daniyal believes in taking bigger risks to reap bigger rewards. This showed the first clash that both the father & the son being lawyers had but I am sure Daniyal is someone who will stick to his decision. It was good to see Daniyal getting a support of his wife Gaiti because she knows what this means to Daniyal & how much he wants to help Noori out but it was also quite sweet of her to remind him that he should be mindful of his safety as well because she knows how things work especially in the matters or cases that involve powerful & resourceful politicians.

I liked the fact that they showed us the true face of media in this episode too. It just took one false statement of the lawyer to convince the news reporter that may be Noori was at fault & this entire case was staged to bring Jahangir or Rab Nawaz down. Very conveniently Rab Nawaz’s lawyer put the entire blame on the opposition party saying they are trying to frame Rab Nawaz & his family, which actually seemed to spark the interest of the news reporter. The way the reporter turned lawyer’s allegation into a question for Noori showed how for them ratings matter the most & they don’t really believe in ethics, morals or have any sense of right or wrong!

I liked how Daniyal’s little act of kindness where he brought books for Noori put her in such a good mood. It showed that it takes a very small gesture to show someone the right path & help someone in finding a direction in life. Noori seemed quite touched by Daniyal’s faith in her where he told her to pursue her education, it showed how victims of these atrocities can be & should be treated, with utmost respect and also how they need people around them who can put their trust in them & give them the confidence to come out of the dark past. For the first time Noori was seen thinking about herself & her future, which happened after Daniyal showed her the right direction. As usual, Rab Nawaz resorted to the cheap tactics of threatening Noori’s family, even though I felt bad for Noori’s mother & siblings, I didn’t feel anything for her father Lateef because this served him right. Lateef thought that just by estranging Noori, he will be able to get away from every responsibility of being her father but it showed him that no matter what he’ll do, it will still haunt him. I hope Bilal contacts Daniyal & tells him how Rab Nawaz’s goons threatened his entire family & how they shifted to a new place.

So, Khalil finally got a much awaited reality check, even though I feel bad that it is Zubiya who has become a reason behind it but still, he needed this. For the first time in life Khalil was at a loss of words because he realized how easy it was to spew venom against others’ daughters but when it came to him, his hands were tied & so was his tongue. Where did that Khalil go who claimed that he would either kill himself or his daughter if she’d do something like that? It showed how weak he was & how his weakness was haunting him because despite wanting to, he was unable to do anything. It wasn’t like Zubiya didn’t return home, she did & she was right there sitting under his roof but Khalil chose to isolate himself & reflect on all of his past mistakes. Another detail which I picked was how Khalil was eating the same breakfast in the flashback scene, like they have shown some consistency in both his attitude & his lifestyle. Khalil was reminded of how he took advantage of his wife’s helplessness & her weakness where she couldn’t leave him because of their kids but now, nothing can be undone & this is his punishment. It was actually quite surprising how right in front of Khalil, Sheema was speaking to every other relative on the phone giving them details about Zubiya but Khalil couldn’t say a word as he was too pre-occupied with his own thoughts. This was the same Khalil who told everyone to keep their tongues tied when it came to his wife’s death but now he had no control over what was happening around him because he himself was feeling defeated. Another little detail that I noticed & enjoyed in the background was Sheema’s expressions, like she was enjoying seeing the suffering of her father in law because she was getting her revenge & also how she got a little restless when her husband Rehan said he will leave this house, like this is something that she doesn’t even want to think about so the sudden change in her expression was perfect!

Overall, this episode was quite intense & was directed perfectly. All the actors added a lot of depth in all the situation, be it Rameez & his portrayal of sick intentions or Sheema, who was finding peace in the suffering of her father in law, or Zubiya who was shook to no end or Noori who was finding it hard to stay strong, all the actors have done a commendable job & deserve a lot of praises for acting their characters to perfection. Even though Ehtashamuddin didn’t have much dialogues but the way he portrayed Khalil’s suffering that too in silence was phenomenal, like just by looking at him & his body language you could see the storm that was brewing in his heart, mind & soul, it was amazing. I love the soundtrack that they have used in the intense situations, I just find it daunting but in a very nice way, if that makes sense, lol. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode & the preview seems interesting. I like how Noori’s track is panning out but at this point I am more interested in Zubiya’s track. Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 06 Review – Intense & Gripping!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar did seem slow in the beginning but as it passed by, it got intense & the note at which it ended had me biting my nails because of the way things unfolded. The actors deserve full marks for breathing life into their characters & the director deserves full marks for making things so realistic that you just can’t help relate to them on some other level.

It was quite interesting how they showed a transition in Zubiya’s attitude & her overall mannerisms, like she was on a different tangent because she met a guy who she was in love with & who was making her happy. This is exactly what happens when girls at a tender age fall in love where they don’t have any idea about the intricacies of life but just start living in some lala land because of the promises that their partners make to them. Just because Zubiya gave away every single detail about herself to Rameez, he made the most of it & used everything to manipulate her. It was interesting to see how Rameez knew what he had to say & when to push his luck because he had read Zubiya so clearly that he knew that she was just a lonely girl who longed for some love & attention. I must say the way the writer & the director elaborated their relationship was quite intelligent, like they showed how Rameez was testing Zubiya & the lengths she could go to by emotionally blackmailing her & just when he saw that she would do anything that he’d say, he made another move.

I must say the way Daniyal approached Noori’s case was brilliant. What is commendable here is how they have shown Daniyal being emotionally invested in this case as well. It was actually quite sweet that Daniyal wasn’t just playing his role as a lawyer but was encouraging Noori to pursue her studies, since he knows that she feels passionately about education & was a teacher in her village. Daniyal met SHO Ayaaz & told him to file the FIR against Jahangir & his friends. Once again they shed a light on how policemen despite knowing the reality do everything to put a lid on it but just because Daniyal had medical reports, Ayaaz couldn’t do much.

My favorite part of this entire episode was Daniyal’s meeting with Bilal. Even though I have always been against the usage of children in our dramas but characters like Zebo, Jazza & Bilal restore my faith in the fact that young boys & girls can also be used in the dramas to serve a better purpose & to add that quotient of innocence that children are a picture of. Bilal’s refusal to take the money was another very sweet aspect, it showed that Noori taught him self-sufficiency & even at such a tender age, he was mature enough to not take any favors. I think it was intelligent of Daniyal to put that opportunity to good use where he told Bilal to report him everything, like he could see that the young boy was eager to help his sister & wanted to do everything for her. I will say that I was disappointed in Lateef, like he is being scared for no good reason, at least he should’ve given Daniyal a chance to explain everything to him or could’ve asked him how Noori was doing. It seems as if Lateef is relieved that he doesn’t have to deal with Noori anymore, which is a shame.

So, Rameez pushed Zubiya to elope with him & Zubiya being naive that she is agreed to that. I think this was a bit unconvincing that a girl who comes from such a strict & conservative family got so much of confidence to take such a bold step. Yes, restrictions & undue ones at that can push people to the limit but Zubiya gave in a bit too easily. All this while I was hoping that may be Rameez’s intentions were pure but he proved the otherwise because Rameez just wants to use Zubiya & throw her like a tissue paper & just because he could see that Zubiya needed some sweet talking to get comfortable, he continued with it.

I must say I enjoyed seeing how Sheema devised ways to insult Khalil in front of everyone & how with so much of subtlety she got back at him. Yes, she was wrong in not guiding Zubiya & just being a spectator but then seeing how Khalil insulted her parents & didn’t allow her to attend her sister’s wedding, what else can be expected from her? Even though Sheema knew that Zubiya was planning to run away with Rameez, she kept it to herself & waited for the right time to use everything against Khalil where she started calling every other relative to not inquire but actually inform them that Zubiya wasn’t home. Khalil couldn’t see what Sheema was doing but then again, he is someone who doesn’t believe in reflecting on his actions otherwise he would’ve understood that this was karma’s spin on him!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode. Even though this episode had a slow start, everything was unfolded in a very convincing manner. The actors did such a great job & the director gave this episode a perfect treatment. The background music was spot on. I must say the switch between the scenarios where one girl was getting help to come out of her troubles & the other was falling into a deep pit was balanced out perfectly by the director. Beenish Raja stood out more than ever, she is a very fine actor. Sajjal Ali was phenomenal where she portrayed Zubiya’s hesitation but confidence in a perfect manner. Ehtashamuddin showcased Khalil’s state of mind to perfection as well. Bilal has to be one of my favorite characters in this drama & not to forget, the child artist has done such a brilliant job too. The preview has gotten me excited already & I can’t wait to see what Khalil’s reaction would be, so, definitely looking forward to the next episode. Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 05 Review – Good Developments!

Ohkay so, that was a bit slow but interesting episode of Yakeen Ka Safar. They obviously had to take this much of time to bring in some new developments in Zubiya’s track especially. What I actually appreciated more was how Noori got coverage & how she & Daniyal got to have a conversation with each other. The direction of the drama is spot-on & everything is being revealed in an appropriate manner.

So, Khalil insulted Sheema’s parents because according to him, any girl who gets married to a guy she loves & any such parents who are supportive of their daughter’s decisions are ‘beghairat’. In just a couple of seconds, Khalil showed them who he was where he not only insulted them but also made sure to let them know that he was noticing what was served in front of them. It is amusing how he being such a wealthy businessman acts like a small-hearted miser. Well, even though it can be classified as a cliché especially when that development came after showing us Khalil’s opinion on this matter, but still the treatment that they have given to Zubiya & Rameez’s track seems realistic

So, Zubiya finally gave a chance to Rameez, she obviously had no reason not to because she is living quite a lonely life & with her mother not being around her, she needed someone to confide in & for that Rameez seems like a perfect option. Even though all of this is basically karma’s spin on Khalil’s words where he dissed the idea of love affair & marriage & even though I have a feeling that it won’t bring any happiness to Zubiya, but seeing her at a happy place was nice for a change. It obviously can seem a little unrealistic that a girl who comes from such a conservative family with so many restrictions easily ended up giving in to the temptation of being associated with someone but considering her state of mind, everything falls in its place as Zubiya discussed, she has no one to talk to & then there’s this guy who can’t stop thinking about ways to speak to her, so she easily accepted this change as she was finding comfort in him. Zubiya’s association with Rameez also brought a few little changes in her attitude where at first they showed how she was scared but later she eased a bit & effortlessly lied to Sheema to save herself & in the end, she was having night-long conversations with him. Rameez seems nice but I am sure that’s all there’s to his character where he will only be bringing troubles into Zubiya’s life. Surprisingly Asfand & Rameez know each other so this was another detail that the director took care of & decided to get out of the way because in the future Asfand & Zubiya will be coming across each other.

Ohkay, my confusion was cleared in this episode. Noori being Sidhi was spotted by Romana in her village & then Romana brought her to Karachi with her. Romana then contacted Daniyal who was in Islamabad & he discussed how he will be travelling to Karachi to see Noori, so the issues that I had with the locations & their setting were dealt with in this episode. I loved the introduction that Romana gave to Daniyal about Noori, how she was considerate enough to let Daniyal know about her mental condition. Noori obviously has been through a lot so it was good to see at least two people feeling her pain & wanting to do everything to bring justice to her. Daniyal’s assurance to Noori was much needed & it was good that as soon as he heard about the details, Daniyal didn’t even hesitate & decided to get on board with this case. I think this is quite an admirable trait of Daniyal that despite knowing Rab Nawaz Shah, his political background & his power, he didn’t think twice before taking Noori’s case. Being comparatively new in this field, Daniyal surely is quite brave.

Noori’s conversation with Daniyal about how she educated herself & how supportive her father was of her was quite heart-warming. It was good to know that Lateef used to support Noori & was proud of his daughter but then again Noori also shed a light on the fact that he took others’ opinions into consideration as well & being a father of an ambitious girl, he would always second guess himself. Noori’s concerns about her siblings were portrayed beautifully too. Even though Noori has gone through so much & even though she knows she has been alienated by her parents, she still was thinking about them & her siblings, it shows how mature & considerate she was as a person.

Overall, this episode was a little detailed that is why it seemed a bit slow but I am glad a lot of progress was made in both Noori & Zubiya’s tracks. I really wish Suhaee hadn’t relied so much on makeup because it got a bit too hard to feel for her when she showed up right after Romana told that she tried to attempt suicide twice, like those who go through a mental & physical trauma don’t really look so well put-together. I feel that was Suhaee’s responsibility as an actor to give Noori’s character a realistic treatment, having said that, her strong performance did compensate a great deal but it would’ve taken it to another level if she had looked a bit more natural like Sajjal does as Zubiya, even though her situation isn’t as dire as Noori’s. Both Sajjal & Suhaee have done a great job in terms of acting. I will say I was surprisingly impressed with Shaz Khan’s acting because I was a bit concerned that when his character will come to a point where he will have to deliver a lot of Urdu dialogues, he will falter but he didn’t & it definitely was good to see. As much as I enjoy Hira Mani’s acting, I so wish there was more to her character than a wife clad in night gowns, waking up from one bout of sleep only to prepare herself for another. May be if they had shown her as Daniyal’s assistant it would’ve been better because seeing her as a supportive but aimless wife actually makes me feel it isn’t doing any justice to her talent as an actor. Anyways, I am looking forward to the next episode already because looks like Sheema will stumble upon Zubiya’s mobile phone & Daniyal will take his case forward. Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 04 Review – Great Developments!

Ohkay so, it was quite an interesting & meaningful episode of Yakeen Ka Safar. I am glad that the story is making a good progress in every other episode & this time around, the focus was shifted on the rape victim Noori. I must say I like how the director has maintained a balance between all the tracks & uses them to shift & play with the mood of the viewers in a perfect manner. Just when things get too heavy, we are taken to Gaiti & Daniyal’s track where things are pretty smooth & easy, it shows that the director was conscious of maintaining a balance between the situations & didn’t want to make it too intense & heavy.

So, Noori, the victim herself was turned into an outcast & was treated like one, not only by her family but everyone around. Sadly, Noori knew that her family will be facing the pressure because no one was educated enough to understand how they should be treating a rape victim. I find it admiring that despite being the one who was harassed & despite being mentally shattered, Noori still held her ground & kept herself composed because she was well aware of the fact that she has a long battle ahead of her to fight, that too on her own. Just when Noori’s father started telling SHO Ayaaz to behave himself, I assumed that this will push him to take a stand for his daughter but he chose to turn himself into a bigger victim, even though he has a lot of reasons to react that way but it definitely would’ve been such a refreshing change to see a father standing up for his daughter at least once. Noori’s father knew that he won’t be able to fight Rab Nawaz Shah, nor he will be able to deal with the policemen who will keep on pestering & harassing him, that is why he decided to give in, not that he was thinking of supporting his daughter in the first place, but just a single threat from the police officer was enough for him to surrender.

Everything that they have shown through Noori’s track is a real depiction of bitter reality because this is exactly how rape victims are mistreated, where no one understands them or their pain & tries to silence them even if they want to stand up for themselves. The only ray of light in Noori’s life was her young supporter Bilal, it warmed my heart how he was trying to make Noori feel better, like even though he is quite young but he still had more courtesy than their parents combined. I think it was quite brave of Noori to decide to leave her house because she knew that if she’d stay with her family, they will continue to weaken her motive of getting Jahangir Rab Nawaz punished. The visit from her in-laws was another push that she got which drove her to take such a huge step, but definitely in the right direction. I so wish Noori had taken Bilal with her because to see his forlorn face when he couldn’t find his sister broke my heart.

It was quite interesting how in the beginning of the episode, Rab Nawaz spoke about sentencing rape victims to death, only time will tell if he will stay true to his word or not, which obviously we all know the answer of. Rab Nawaz has already brushed his son’s crime & sin under the carpet, so now he will do everything to keep it that way. I liked how Rab Nawaz & Daniyal were introduced to each other. Rab Nawaz in his wildest dreams wouldn’t have thought that Daniyal would be the one who’ll bring him down. Anyways, Noori by chance met the activist who works really hard for women’s rights & now she will be the one who will take Noori to Daniyal.

The entire focus on Gaiti’s conversation with Asfand & then her birthday was quite nice, like it definitely made things easy after seeing such dire situation of Noori. Daniyal is a loving husband & Gaiti is just as much of a loving wife to him. I like how Gaiti always tries to cover up for her husband, it’s like she has accepted him with all of his weaknesses & strengths, that is why she stays unaffected with such small matters because she understands & respects the fact that Daniyal is so focused when it comes to his work.

So, nothing much happened in Zubiya’s track but yes, it was good that she got the support of her friends to participate in the play. I liked how Zubiya all of a sudden felt this rush of confidence when she got a round of applause for her perfect performance. However, I am not too sure what the guy was doing in an all-girls’ college during an all-girl’s stage play? Like usually when it comes to these colleges, guys are not allowed to attend these sort of plays, so his placement in this situation did seem a little forced but looks like they didn’t have any other choice to use this scenario to open up a new chapter in Zubiya’s life. I think it was good that they showed how Zubiya was moving on in her life, she obviously misses her mother every step of the way but she has also come to terms with her mother’s death, that is why she was seen discussing it with her friends normally.

Mahjabeen was still seen crying over the demise of her sister & the sad life that she lived. I liked how the writer shed a light on the fact that wealth doesn’t guarantee happiness, like Mahjabeen’s mother married her daughter off to a wealthy man thinking she will lead a happy & peaceful life but that same man turned out to be the reason behind her death. One more time they drew our attention to Khalil’s insecure personality. It was quite amusing how Khalil was judging Sheema’s younger sister because she was now getting married to the guy she was in love with & this too came after they showed how a guy was now trying to get Zubiya’s attention. Khalil will definitely end up getting a good reality check because even he has a daughter but is too thick-headed to even assume that he can be faced with the similar kind of situation in his life too.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting. The preview of the next episode looked promising & I am definitely looking forward to Daniyal & Noori’s first meeting. I am not sure if this is a mistake on their part or this is how the story has been laid out in the novel, because when I look at Rab Nawaz Village & its residents, I always get a feeling that it’s a small village in the province of Sindh & then Daniyal resides in Islamabad, so somehow I am not sure if they paid attention to this detail or not. If they’ll show that the women activist (ZQ) brought Noori all the way to Islamabad to meet Daniyal, then it would make sense but if they are suggesting that Rab Nawaz Village is located in the outskirts of Islamabad then it doesn’t make much sense because they have given it a completely different feel which doesn’t do justice to the geographical location. Also, Rab Nawaz & Daniyal attended this function together, so I think it has been suggested that they both reside in the same territory, just different areas, so I do have a feeling this was a little mistake on the director’s part. I think if they had shown that Daniyal was situated in Karachi & that Rab Nawaz Village was located in inner-Sindh, it would’ve made far more sense because it is a done deal that no villages near Islamabad have people who speak like Noori’s family does or wear Chunari dresses or Ajraks like they have shown in this drama because if not Chunari, Ajrak definitely is exclusive to the province of Sindh. I think they should’ve shown that Asfand went to Islamabad to pursue his education whereas his family was settled in Karachi. This was just a little thought that crossed my mind when I watched this episode, but other than that I don’t have any issues with the way the drama has been directed & how the story is unfolding. All the actors have done a brilliant job, especially the actors playing Noori’s parents & younger brother. Suhaee has done a good job too as a victim who is strong enough to face her fears. Hira Mani does well in the scenes that are allotted to her & so does everyone else. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 03 Review – Realistic Portrayal of Reality!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar was detailed & slow but in a good way. I like the fact that the director is taking things slow by giving us an in-depth view into every situation while still making a lot of progress. While watching this episode, my eyes stayed glued to the screen because of the phenomenal performances with which all the actors have brought life to their characters & I must say, the writer & the director should take a bow for such a convincing portrayal of harsh realities.

So, Noori despite being told not to, decided to unveil the culprit & unfortunately for her, he happens to be the son of local politician who obviously has power, authority & resources. In that entire scene, what I loved the most was the little supporter that Noori had. It was heart-warming to see that where this sort of courage & support should’ve come to Noori by her parents, especially her mother, her younger brother had faith in Noori & he was ready to fight for her. I must say the child artist added so much of warmth & honesty in that scene which was filled with negativity that was being spread by the policemen. They surely shed a light on the fact how insensitive policemen can get with the rape victims where in stead of inquiring about what the girl went through, they become self-proclaimed judges who deem it as their moral right to point fingers at a girl’s character because in their ‘mardana’ mind, a man can never be wrong & if a girl gets violated physically, it is only because she had a loose character!

Zubiya was finding it hard to pick up the pieces after her mother has left. I loved how they showcased that in the absence of a mother, how the home becomes a house where there was no one to welcome Zubiya or place food in front of her. I loved those little shots where they showed how Zubiya had to fetch her lunch herself & sat there in seclusion only with her mother’s memories.

Sheema in my opinion got a lot of coverage in this episode & I hope in the coming episodes, we don’t get to see her much because honestly speaking, there’s nothing new or different to her that I would want to see. Sheema took a day to turn into a typical bhabhi who obviously is showing her true colors because she is not happy with the current situation. Sheema is not only ungrateful but she is someone who doesn’t know what it is like to be content in life. She has everything going for her, she has a husband, a son, a luxurious lifestyle but just because she has a father in law who is authoritative & treats her husband like an employee at work, she is unhappy. The way Rehan smiled at her was something sweet like at least he understands his wife’s perspective & has a laid back attitude when it comes to her because he knows her complaints are never ending. To be honest, I don’t mind Sheema’s character & attitude, but yes, I will when she will start creating problems for Zubiya. With Sheema being so dominating & controlling, I am not sure how long Rehan will be able to keep up with his support & sympathy that he feels for Zubiya because Sheema is constantly trying to draw his attention away from his little sister. Rehan is quite submissive, which is not a bad thing but in general, he is failing to draw a line & maintaining a balance which definitely will affect Zubiya in the future.

At least Rehan showed that he was considerate towards Zubiya’s feelings when he told her that she should’ve asked for her college fee from her & not Khalil but then again, Zubiya was forced to remind him that he wasn’t there when she was looking forward to talk to him. I must say, even though this character is quite annoying, I enjoy watching Khalil’s scenes, like I find myself laughing during his scenes because Ehtashamuddin has portrayed this character so realistically. I must say, Khalil has quite a lot of nakhras when it comes to food & even though he may not say it, his wife took good care of him because of which he has developed such taste buds & now when she is no more, even he is finding it hard to adjust to new people taking care of his basic needs. I liked the exchange of words that happened between Sheema & Khalil, like he is well aware of everything that happens under his roof & not only that, he is well aware of everyone’s nature, that is why he knew that Sheema had her sights on her mother in law’s gold, which he made sure to get it back from her possession!

Well, Jahangir’s mother thinks he is a bacha & he was seeking maafi for his ghalti. LOL! Kya bacha hai aur kya ghalti hai aur kya uski maafi thi. To be honest, they have perfectly highlighted how power & authority can turn human beings into animals, that is why even Jahangir’s father Rab Nawaz wasn’t ashamed of what his son did, but in stead he was worried that this might cost him his seat in upcoming elections as the opposition party was looking for reasons to bring him down. I must say I enjoyed his speech at Women’s Day Conference because through him, the drama makers showed the real face of the politicians who only tell lies when they speak to the general public & use heavy words like izzat, tahaffuz, muzahmat which are meaningless to them because when it comes to their own family members, they have completely different set of rules. Rab Nawaz didn’t even breathe in between his speech since he was so focused on convincing women that he was in the favor of their support while easily concealing the truth that he was hiding a rapist in his own home. I found it quite interesting that even Daniyal was present at that conference because I am sure Daniyal is going to be the one who will bring Rab Nawaz & his son Jahangir down. Even though it was for a brief moment, but I liked how they introduced Daniyal’s character as a lawyer who believes in his principles & doesn’t believe in budging for anyone. I am sure Daniyal will bring Noori the justice that she deserves & I am definitely looking forward to that journey.

I had a good time watching this episode, even though the scenarios are grave & the theme of the drama is based on social issues but the director has tried to keep it as less intense as possible, while still maintaining the essence of the story. There is so much that is going to happen in the future episodes & I am already excited to see that because the foundations have been laid in such a convincing manner. I must say, all the actors have done a brilliant job, especially Ehtashamuddin, Sajal Ali & also the girl playing the role of Sheema (help me with her real name please). However, I felt that Shaz Khan was having issues in delivering Urdu dialogues that required a lot of continuity as he clearly seemed uncomfortable & the timing was off too. I hope in the future episodes, Shaz Khan is able to do justice to Daniyal’s character since he has an important role in the story. The direction & the production values are great. I can’t wait to see more. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 02 Review – Phenomenal Performances!

Ohkay so, what an episode it was, packed with such phenomenal performances. While watching this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar, I don’t think I looked away from the TV screen even for a second, because the director & all the actors gave their 100% & created magic on screen. Yes, the theme of the drama is based on social issues but it is good to see our drama-makers exploring that dimension & bringing such stories which give something to the viewers to take with them when the episode ends. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode & a few actors surely made it a treat to watch.

So, Zubiya confessed to her Aunt Mehjabeen that it was her father Khalil who killed his wife. They gave us a detailed insight into Khalil’s mentality as this time around where it was made clear that he was not only in denial but tried using fate & destiny as a shield to cover his crime. Even Khalil knew that he committed a mistake & he was responsible for the death of his wife but he chose to erect a wall so strong that no one could imagine trespassing. The way Khalil told his his children to not utter a word against him showed his insecurities & shed a light on the fact that even he knew he was guilty of murdering his wife, otherwise a rigid man like him wouldn’t have showed his weak side to his family & wouldn’t have cared but he did. Zubiya considered herself responsible for her mother’s death because she was the one who tagged her mother along & that riled her father up, that is why she had to vent out. Somehow, I felt it was good that Mehjabeen was by Zubiya’s side, even though she couldn’t do much for Zubiya but at least, she put her aching heart to ease & comforted her which she needed the most by listening to what she had to say.

The conversation between Mehjabeen & Khalil was so intense because it brought out the weak side of Khalil once again the moment he heard that Mehjabeen found out the truth behind her sister’s death. It was interesting to see that at first, Khalil tried to cover up saying that his wife died because she was bound to die that day & it was Allah’s Decree, but later when he saw that Mehjabeen wasn’t buying what he said & still held him responsible, he tried to malign his wife’s character & badmouthed her thinking it will work. Khalil knew that the family secret wasn’t safe anymore & despite saying that he wasn’t afraid of the police, he showed all the signs that suggested that even he was scared of facing the brunt for what he has done. It was also interesting that even after committing such a huge crime & a sin, he was still relying on his limited knowledge of the religion to clear his image. Khalil believed that he hit his wife because he was trying to correct & discipline her, so if she died while that was happening, it wasn’t his fault!

Obviously, Mehjabeen had to leave & she apologized to Zubiya for being so helpless & powerless to do anything to help her situation but she did leave after making Khalil realize that he will face the consequences. Khalil was rattled & it was only because of the conversation he had with Mehjabeen, otherwise the way he got back to his normal life where he was more concerned about parathas being khasta, if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t have paid attention to what he has done. I think Zubiya will be left alone now because seeing how Rehna was being manipulated by Sheema showed that he won’t be able to do much. Rehan only has emotions to offer but Sheema was the one who showed him the practical side of the picture. Even though what Sheema said showcased her selfishness but somehow I didn’t find her wrong because before anything else, she is a mother who only wants comfort for her child & just because she is practical enough, she is well aware of the fact that her husband is financially dependent on her father in law. I think in the later stages when Zubiya will probably take the matter in her hands if she will ever decided to get her father punished, Rehan will be the first obstacle that will come in her way because he almost seemed convinced to stay quiet after getting a lecture from his wife!

So, we got to know a little more about Faryal & looks like Asfand was taken aback by her behavior. Faryal is not only spoiled but is quite impulsive & immature, which obviously put Asfand off a little when he saw this side of her nature. I think after this incident, Asfand will be forced to do some thinking. Daniyal & Gaiti were enjoying their marital bliss which has started off on a very positive note. It was nice to see Gaiti being so understanding of her husband’s nature of work & more than that, the respect that she has for what Daniyal does. Usman got a little introduction too & it was explained how well-reputed he was in the field of law. I am interested to see what role Usman & then Daniyal will play as lawyers in the future episodes!

Even though Noori didn’t get much coverage but the preview of the next episode suggested that she is not going to sit quietly & she will make sure to see her offender paying for his crime. Just like Rehan will try to stop Zubiya, in this case, it will be Noori’s parents who will tell her to stay silent. Even though Noori’s father was shocked to learn the truth but I am interested to see what role he will play in helping his daughter recover from the mental trauma that she has been through. I really hope out of all the people, Noori’s father supports her because she’ll be needing him the most at this stage. I believe Noori will emerge as a fighter & she will fight her own battle against those who offended her in the worst way possible.

Overall, this episode was power-packed & was directed brilliantly. I must say, for me the actors that took the crown in this episode were Ehtashamuddin, Huma Nawab & Sajal Ali. Oh boy! I was spellbound while watching their performances. It takes a lot to portray such characters & elaborate their emotions in such a phenomenal & convincing manner & all these actors definitely delivered. Ehtashamuddin has owned the character of Khalil & has given him such a face that he will be remembered for a long long time. Just 2 episodes in & I am sure all the viewers who have tuned to this drama will be feeling a lot of hatred for Khalil’s character, which is Ehtashamuddin’s success as an actor. Huma Nawab supported extremely well too, like she made it so evident that Mehjabeen’s heart was breaking after learning the truth about her sister but she also knew her limitations & despite wanting to, she knew she was helpless & she won’t be able to do much. Sajal Ali really has polished her skills when it comes to such portrayals, like she really knows how to convey the emotions. She made it so realistic that Zubiya was not only shattered or guilty, but she was scared to see her father being the one who killed her mother. This episode was like a roller-coaster ride of emotions & once again Usman’s family & all those characters were used to make things less heavy & less intense, which was a good change. I can’t wait to see more. Please share your thoughts about this phenomenal episode of Yakeen Ka Safar!

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 01 Review – A Very Strong Start!

Ohkay so, based on a Farhat Ishtiyaq novel ‘Wo Yakeen Ka Naya Safar’, Yakeen Ka Safar is produced by Momina Duraid Productions & is directed by Shehzad Kashmiri & from now on it will be airing on Wednesdays on Hum TV. The first episode gave us a glimpse into all the characters & their stories & they gave us just enough to understand all of the characters & their struggles. I must say, the very first episode was directed perfectly because it gave equal coverage to so many characters, it shows the clarity & the vision that the director had while directing this drama. The very first episode introduced us the story & character in such a manner that I am already looking forward to the next episode. I am sure it is going to be a ride & with the first episode being just so perfect, my hopes have skyrocketed already.

So, the first episodes showed us three scenarios in three different locations, where in 2 of those scenarios, they shed a light on the physical & emotional abuse that women were being subjected to. In Rab Nawaz Village, a school teacher named Noori (Suhai) was abducted & sadly, in stead of looking for her, her father blamed her for being too ambitious for wanting to educate the children of her village. In Karachi, they showed Zubiya (Sajal Ali) & her family mourning the loss of her mother (Fazila Qazi) & lastly, in Islamabad, they showed us a light-hearted scenario where two maternal cousins Daniyal (Shaz Khan) & Gaiti (Hira Mani) were getting married & their families were making the most of this happy occasion.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 01 Review - A Very Strong Start!

So, Daniyal & Gaiti got engaged 6 years ago but the very same day Daniyal left for London to pursue his education. He has returned as a lawyer & he acknowledges & appreciates the fact that Gaiti stood by him & gave him enough time just when he was getting pressurized by his mother to come back & get married. Even though they didn’t show much about Gaiti but I loved how subtle her character seemed at this stage because of which I felt I wanted to know more about her. Daniyal’s father Usman (Farhan Ali Agha) & Gaiti’s mother Durdana are siblings, that is why both the families seemed pretty happy with this family affair. It seems that Daniyal’s younger brother Asfand & Gaiti’s younger sister are engaged to be married as well but Asfand is not mature or settled enough to take the responsibility of a marriage at this stage. I liked the way they showed that both the brothers Daniyal & Asfand share a very strong bond, where Daniyal is protective of his younger brother & Asfand looks up to him.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 01 Review - A Very Strong Start!

In Rab Nawaz Village, even though the first impression that I got of Noori’s father was disturbing but seeing him shedding tears did make me feel for him. However, I felt that the helplessness that he was feeling was self-imposed because he just didn’t want to help himself & gave up because he wasn’t ready to face the world & take a stand for his daughter as deep down even he felt that she was at fault & she herself invited the trouble she was facing. Very subtly yet clearly they shed a light on how men in these type of settings deem education as a burden & don’t have the courage to stand up for their daughters due to their false pride that they cling onto as they are afraid of facing the world because of their own fears.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 01 Review - A Very Strong Start!

Zubiya lost her mother & it was her Khala Mehjabeen (Huma Nawab) that tried to console her as she could see that losing her mother took a toll on Zubiya. Very briefly they introduced us to the dysfunctional relationship that Zubiya’s father Khalil (Ehtashamuddin) & her mother shared. It looked like Khalil always subjected his wife to mental torture because of his conservativeness & didn’t give her enough freedom to even stay in touch with her family. Zubiya has an elder brother Rehan who is married to Sheema & they both have a son Haram.

Even though the promo of the next episode gave away everything but the moment I saw the uneasiness on Khalil & Zubiya’s faces when they both faced each other, it did make me feel that Khalil was uncomfortable about something & was trying to cover it up as if even he knew he was guilty of something. The way he put Mehjabeen down & reminded her of where she comes from spoke volumes about his personality. It is sad to see that Khalil is shown as a rigid religious man who only believes in performing the rituals but doesn’t actually understand the essence of the religion that he follows. Mehjabeen’s concern for her younger sister was heart-warming, like even though she knew that her sister suffered because of Khalil but she couldn’t say much, however she did find it odd that all of a sudden her sister passed away & her family was unable to give her a clear cut answer to what exactly happened to her.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 01 Review - A Very Strong Start!

The direction, camera work, editing, equal coverage of all the scenarios & characters made the first episode a treat to watch. All the actors performed phenomenally but for me, Sajal Ali stole the show, I actually felt for her a lot when she cried as she was missing her mother. Even though Fazila Qazi’s character got a very little coverage but it was enough to show how special of a bond she shared with her daughter & how important she was in her life. Where Khalil was a rigid, emotionally detached & conservative father, his wife made sure to shower her daughter with all the love to keep her distracted from something that was terribly wrong in her life. I can already see how all these stories will be linked in the future episodes & I can not wait to see the story unfold.

I must say Hira Mani looked absolutely beautiful. Shaz Khan fitted his role perfectly. Asfand & his fiancée got a little too much coverage for my liking but it seemed justified for now as obviously they had to keep things a bit light hearted considering this was the first episode. However, I did pick a little mistake, because in the beginning they made it clear that Daniyal’s parents were Gaiti’s Mamu Mami, whereas Asfand’s fiancée while speaking about his parents said Chacha Chachi chalay gaye or something like that. I feel especially in the first episode where everyone is figuring out who is related to whom, the director should’ve paid a bit more attention as these sort of mistakes can create a lot of misunderstand & confusion. Anyways, I must say I am impressed with the hard-work that was put in this episode & even though there was so much happening in this episode where they kept on switching between completely different situations, I didn’t find the editing choppy or the sequence haphazard. I will thank the director for giving us a very strong first episode of this drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

PS: Dear readers, please excuse me for a short review, as this is the best I could do considering how unwell I am. I will get back on track starting from next week & will give you guys the sort of a review this drama deserves. Also, since this drama is based on the novel, I am sure a lot of readers here must’ve read it, so I think I do have to impose the no spoiler alert policy once again because it just kills the charm of the drama for viewers like me who haven’t read the novel. I have seen that some readers deliberately discuss the novel, promos, OST’s & upcoming bits as the curiosity gets the better of them but I hope they will respect the no spoiler alert policy because I & I am sure quite lot of other viewers have not read the novel as well. Also, I haven’t watched any promos or even the OST as I know they can give away the entire story so I hope that will be respected too. Let’s just keep the discussions strictly about the episode that will be airing without making it all about the future happenings & please bear in mind that novel reading & drama watching are two completely different things. Last but definitely not the least, if I will spot anyone discussing future happenings of a drama based on what they have read in the novel, I will delete those comments because that’s the only option that I’ll be left with. Let’s enjoy this ride together & remember we are not reading the novel together, we’re watching a drama here. ;)

Yaariyan Episode 1 to 11 – An Overview

I haven’t tuned into a drama starring Ayeza Khan after Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua therefore I decided to give this one a go after getting a few requests from facebook users to review it. The production house’s obsession with ‘khoobsurti’ (goray log) stands out more than anything else throughout apart from Ayeza Khan’s attempt to look really casual in a made-up look (talk about taking contradiction to a whole new level!). It is actually sad watching Ayeza Khan focus on her looks so much especially because she doesn’t need it. Momal Sheikh’s lack of talent reflects from every single scene and Muneeb Butt’s attempts to flaunt his well-built body makes him the perfect candidate for the next YNH film!

Coming to the story, it is has been-there-seen-that (a million times) written all over it. Yaariyan is Guzarish, Maat, Woh Mera Dil Tha, Ghar Titli Ka Par and Ishq Tamasha mixed in one. The writer has taken inspiration from all these dramas yet Yaariyan doesn’t even pass as a guilty pleasure, something you would watch for fun, because the characters are black and white to a boring extent and most of the performances are as fake as they get. If you want to watch goray chitay log (courtesy a very light foundation) suffering while looking their best then do tune into this show, otherwise don’t!

I have been dying to vent out therefore I am going to share my thoughts about each character in this review/rant. This drama has few of the most shallow characters translated on screen in an even more one-dimensional manner by the actors involved.

Sadia (Momal Sheikh)

Bechargi ki tasweer

Sadia is the ‘perfect’ (perfectly annoying) sister and daughter, she is pious to the core but she gets stuck in a situation in which her character/morality is questioned (Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan?) and as a result her life takes a turn for the worse. Sadia’s over exaggerated becharapan coupled with absolutely no real personality and Momal Sheikh’s performance which literally gets on your nerves made it impossible for me to feel for her.

Zobia (Ayeza Khan)

Meesni no. 1

Zobia’s character makes little sense, she is manipulative, selfish and spoiled but most of the times whatever she does isn’t backed by a lot of logic. She is negative and spoiled and that’s it! Ayeza Khan’s over-reliance on make-up and styling makes this character look more fake than it needed to. Ayeza’s dressing is really casual, sometimes the three pieces of the outfit don’t even match but the overloaded foundation is never out of place. It is almost as if the leading ladies weren’t allowed to tie their hair under any circumstances.

Umair (Muneeb Butt)

Ahmed from Kesa Yeh Naseeban all over again

Umair is another character which lies on the extreme. There is nothing likable about this character and Muneeb Butt’s performance is a bit over the top most of the time. It is like watching him play the same character he played in Kesa Yeh Naseeban – he tries to be a good son but is a horrible husband.

Yaariyan Episode 1 to 11 - An Overview

Ahmer (Junaid Khan)

Mehrab and Moonis all over again

Junaid Khan yet again plays the bechara even though he is the one who made a wrong decision. He reminds me of Mehrab, who stayed a bechara right till the end even though he did so much that was wrong. Ahmer also reminds me of Moonis from Khasara because of the way Junaid Khan has carried this character throughout.

Hamid Baig (Mehmood Aslam)

Gaiti’s dad is back

Mehmood Aslam has been typecast in this drama because he is yet again playing the same character he played in Do Bol. He is the unreasonable father who forces his daughter to get married to the man she was ‘caught with’. Yes! Believe it or not, it is the same scenario all over again which has been originally lifted from the play Woh Mera Dil Tha. Forced nikkah’s caused by misunderstandings seem to be the latest trend in our dramas.

Aliya (Hina Bayat)

Only good thing about this drama

Aliya’s character is in this drama is the only good thing about it. Although Aliya is too good to be true at times but Hina Bayat has managed to add grace to this character even with those high heels and made-up look.

Zeenat (Shagufta Ijaz)

The helpless mother

Zeenat is the helpless mother without whom all those tragedies which occurred in this drama wouldn’t have happened. Shagufta Ijaz is an amazing actress, she can make even the most average of characters look good on screen therefore her performance is the only reason why her character is not the worst one in the play. Also, the fact that Zeenat knows her daughters well and gives everything a second thought makes her character relatively more nuanced.

Final Remarks

Yaariyan is one of those many dramas which are made with all the ‘commercial elements’ in mind. The writer took plenty of inspiration from dramas which were popular in the recent past which makes the story highly predictable. The fact that many of the actors in this drama are typecast goes to show the narrow vision of the director. The over emphasis on everyone’s looks is another off-putting factor apart from the average performances which are anything but effortless. The performances on the contrary look well rehearsed and staged. The overuse of the OST just adds to the torture.

A special request to all the writers, please stop showing this forced nikkah scenario. Ever since Woh Mera Dil Tha aired, it seems like parents forcing their children into jhat pat nikkah seems to be a  favorite of all those writers who love replicating original ideas!

Yaaram – Novel Review

0

The  name of the novel ‘Yaraam’ by Sumaira Hameed, means a beloved or a lover. When you first encounter such name it gives a feeling of a typical ,mourning and tragic love story with bits of conspiracies and a lot of disappointment ,But I object  it is not just a love story with all these aspects but contains a lot more gems of wisdom put together in a beautiful, engaging ,and exciting events. It triggers almost a wide range of emotions and enforces our brain to think  and ponder over the situation and feel in depth for every character. You laugh with them, enjoy their silly jokes, pranks and feel very light. In literature, the most common elements of romanticism are moon, night and stars .On contrary, Sumaira Hameed takes a different way and starts a novel with an imagery  of ‘Sarma ki Dhoop’

‘’Amar Prem ka agr koi lad ka naam hota tou wo sarma ki dhoop hota’’

This Imagery takes us to the introduction of our heroine’ Amraha’ before diving in the characters of this novel let’s just introduce you with the main theme of this novel.

MAIN THEME

Although highly condensed with love story, it unfolds in a very interesting way. It is a journey of change and transformation for some characters and their influential past which molded them into their present form. Amraha applies for the University of Manchester as she wants to get rid of the environment she was brought up and was tagged as ‘Manhoos’ and was accepted by an emotional and more appropriately self-pitying mail of her .The fun and interesting part begins when the description of the University and its environment is sketched. It is here when different people get to know one other and learn what life is! The Manchester University Motto is very interesting‘’There is no time to cry and just smile’’. In my opinion, the main theme of the novel is harkat main barkat,  to overcome fear, be confident, learn from your past; take hold of your life, ignore foolish myths and unnecessary objections and be strong. Life is about facing the harsh realities of life, surviving through them and being thankful for what we have. I must appreciate the efforts of the writer in bringing all these lessons into light through a love story.

VARIETY OF CHARACTERS

Apart from Amraha, every main character in this novel is influential in one way or the other. There is depth in every character and everyone has a story, which unfolds to describe the beauty of their character and the source of their strength. Why Amraha wasn’t much influential in the beginning , the reason behind it was that, this character was shown to learn that it’s not only her there are many people who lose so much in life but still are trying to live happily.

Amraha: The perfect example of a roti dhoti, sensitive and weak heroine. I felt for her at the beginning because of the stupid and irrational myths that degraded her personality and destroyed her self-esteem. She is a submissive personality, but her grandfather supported her and tried to restore her self-esteem. The writer grasped the attention here by adding these lines ” for every person there will be someone who will love them even if the whole world hates him/her’’.

Her grandfather was the support system for her and she manages to get admitted in the University of Manchester. She enters a whole new world and learns a lot. It is hilarious, enjoyable and adventurous and I believe Manchester World is fun. By the end of the encounter and love part of the novel, She couldn’t accept the proposal because there was a big’’ because ‘’and at that time it seemed that Amraha is so selfish, harsh, brutal and self-absorbed girl. I think Amraha was way too rude even when the writer made us understand why it was the way it was, Still it was harsh. I want you to read it and figure it out.

Aliyan: The hero of this novel and already a heart-throb of the University  is a handsome, attractive and wise personality. He has a disturbing past and that was the reason he didn’t like Asians. He behaves nicely with Amraha and fall for her when he and his friends planned a bomb blast prank .After the confession Aliyan doesn’t remain the same person and his friend Carl (The Manhoos Mara) tries to bring him back. Aliyan is intelligent and smart and he beautifully described about the colours of flowers and the pre-conceived notions about them.

Carl ( The Manhoos Mara) : Why Carl is manhoos Mara, this is epecially shown by his naughty , hilarious and scary pranks, he is  such a treat to read. Always up to something scary and adventurous, a bit too scary but is a breath of fresh .He is Aliyan’s friend which actually is hard to believe because they shared a unique chemistry. The pranks were hilarious and I enjoyed it a lot.

Veera: A girl from Russia, She is energetic, bold, adventurous, strong and beautiful. She is a nice character and I was impressed by her take on Amraha that she was selfish and did wrong with Aliyan, this depicted her smartness. I enjoyed her strong character, especially when she challenges or accepts the challenges of ‘’ the manhoos mara’’. At one point, I felt for her but she moved on because this was the essence of her personality.

Sai : This is another unique character and is trustworthy. He has a habit of wearing a sign board named ‘’Talk to me’’ if I am not mistaken. The purpose is to listen to people’s stories, their fears, their dreams, and relationships and this behaviour was in response to his past. When Nobody listened to him, he felt devastated so he started this weird activity to console others.

There was an interesting activity called ‘’Tweet’’. Tweet was kind of a debt treat, you ask from someone as ‘’Tweet Me’’ and he would give you something to eat and whenever he would ask for ‘’ Tweet Me back’’ you had to pay it back. The exam-phobia was such a delight to read and is very funny.

WEAK ASPECT: The negative or weak aspect of the novel is after the separation and a bit  re-union part it becomes a bit slow as the writer was giving time to every emotion to be explained  with unnecessary details that I had to skip a few pages and reach the end.

A good novel to read and invest time on, it was enjoyable and lesson-oriented but is only for one time reading, you can’t read it over and over again.

Leaving you with this lesson

‘’There are never any winners or any losers, participation is. Remember that and enjoy the challenge of each moment so it arises now’’.

Yaar e Bewafa Last Episode Review – Sweet!

Ohkay so, Yaar e Bewafa came to an end & if I look back at the entire journey, the best description that comes to my mind for it is ‘sweet & simple’.

Yaar e Bewafa had such a story which didn’t promise fireworks or too much drama & even though it was predictable right from the beginning, the simple execution made the viewers look forward to the upcoming episodes because everyone could relate to the characters & felt a lot for them when they were struggling. What I liked the most about this writing was that the writer didn’t make the characters completely black & white & every single time he justified & explained why they would behave a certain way.

So, Zaid made it very clear to Fizza that she could not make him happy like she used to & she lost the place in his heart. Fizza tried really hard to earn her position back but Zaid told her clearly that his heart belonged to Amna & not Fizza. Amna introduced Zaid to a new meaning of love because in Zaid Fizza relationship, Zaid was the selfless one so he never really knew what it was like to be loved selflessly which Amna introduced him to, that is why he understood that she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Amna decided to go abroad because she earned herself a job there but thankfully before she could leave, Fizza realized that she had to make amends & she had to accept the reality that Zaid was happy with Amna, therefore she had to bring her back in his life.

The note at which the episode ended was quite sweet because Ahmed also found his father’s love & got to be with him as before he was the one who suffered due to Fizza’s irrational decision. It was good to see that all of them found a way towards their happiness & things worked out for everyone.

Overall, it was a very good drama totally fit for binge watching because I am sure if watched that way,  the slow pace of the drama wouldn’t be noticeable, which we felt while watching it on a weekly basis. The story was simple & straight forward. The way the director executed everything was brilliant. Yaar e Bewafa showed that simple stories can still work if they are executed properly. Imran Abbas & Sarah Khan were the stars of the show & Arij Fatyma acted brilliantly as well. I must commend the writer for making us fond of the characters of Zaid & Amna. Imran Abbas & Sarah Khan deserve a special mention for such a perfect chemistry & yes, the writer deserves a special mention for showing us a healthy marital relationship, which indeed was not only sweet but quite refreshing as well. Please share your thoughts about the final episode & the entire journey of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 9 Review – Realistic Portrayal!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa took the story forward effortlessly but quite slowly as well, however the slow pace of the drama doesn’t seem to be an issue because the way things are unfolding is quite realistic. They have given us enough time to get to know the characters & form an opinion about them accordingly, which is an added detail & actually makes everyone’s journey quite interesting.

So, Fizza chose to go to her father’s place but then she also told her mother that she would never approve of her father’s interference in her divorce. I think if not anyone else, Fizza should’ve known her father better that he is not someone who would sit quietly & miss the chance of showcasing his power & authority. Also, I think it was quite immature of Fizza to ‘assume’ that as per her wishes, her father would mind his own business & wouldn’t try to break this relationship which he was never in the favor of right from the beginning.

I think in this ugly divorce Zaid has proved that he loved Fizza unconditionally, that is why even after going through so much, he is trying to do everything to stop Fizza from leaving. It really showed that in this relationship, Fizza was at the receiving end & Zaid was always the one who happily sacrificed & compromised for Fizza’s sake as he loved her. Zaid wasn’t the one who was keen on going to Australia but he still went ahead with the plan as Fizza wanted it. Now it looks like Zaid will also give up on this relationship because he knows that this is also something that Fizza wants.

I felt really bad for Zaid when I saw him thinking about all the things that Ahmed said & told him about his grandfather’s house. I think this is going to be the only deciding factor which would convince Zaid that he should let go of Fizza & Ahmed because he already started feeling like a failure thinking that he couldn’t provide the ‘comfort’ & the ‘luxury’ to his wife & son that they deserved. It was actually quite upsetting to see such a doting husband & a father like Zaid being forced to believe that he fell short of his responsibilities whereas Zaid never in the first place promised big things to Fizza, he only offered her love & she chose to settle for it for the time being, till she got over it!

Oh well, things are stagnant as smelly water in Amna & Saleem’s track. The only thing that changed was that Saleem’s diseased relapsed & now in stead of contacting the doctors, he was going to invest his time & energy on some Baba Jees. I am wondering if there’s one ‘right’ thing that Saleem has done in his drama-life so far? I am tired of seeing Amna putting up with Saleem’s behavior, I really wish he goes out of her life so that we get to see her life shaping for the better!

Overall, this episode was interesting, slow but yes interesting. I like the simple characters & simple situations because it shows that a simple story can still keep the interest of the viewers intact if it is tackled properly. All the actors have done an amazing job undoubtely & so have the writer & the director for bringing such an emotionally touching story to us in such a simple yet unique way. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 8 – A Decent Drama To Tune To!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was a bit on the slower side but then again, it had a lot of development to its credit. I must say that even though I appreciate the progress Zaid & Fizza’s track is making, I want to see the similar, if not, then some progress in Amna & Saleem’s track too because their story has been stagnant right from the beginning & there’s nothing much that is happening in their lives!

So, not only Zaid but Ahmed was struggling too & it was quite a surprise that just so quickly Fizza began the procedure to finalize her divorce. I was actually quite amused that Neelam not only brain-fed Fizza but also swooped in to fight her case, not sure if she is a friend or a foe but then Fizza deserves it since she herself is gambling with her life. I liked the fact that the judge did give Zaid & Fizza some time to rethink about their decision but even though Zaid doesn’t want any of this to happen, Fizza is adamant since for her, better future is worth sacrificing a perfect, healthy marital relationship & a loving, sincere husband.

This episode had quite a lot of flashbacks for my liking but then again, they were needed to showcase how hard Zaid was struggling without his family, especially his son Ahmed because now the thought of Ahmed going away from him for good was haunting him. It was so kind of his neighbor to offer to talk to Fizza but Zaid knows how stubborn Fizza is that she is not going to budge because even he has tried & all his attempts have been wasted.

Fizza always was selfish & even then her selfishness seemed justified because she used it to motivate Zaid to do better for himself & his family but who knew that this trait of hers will drive her insane & push to such a limit that she wouldn’t even think about her son for a second. Fizza thinks ignoring Ahmed’s innocent but valid questions is the right way to go about it but she has no idea how tougher things will get when Ahmed will grow up, when he will become sensible enough to analyze that his mother was wrong, not his father. Seeing Fizza’s father back in the picture made it clear that now he will support his daughter too because the only reason why he estranged her was Zaid & now when Fizza is pushing Zaid out of her life, there’s no reason for her father to hold onto his grudge anymore. I am sure now he will assure Fizza of his complete support since she herself has filed for divorce & wants the better (read materialistic) future for her kid!

I swear if Saleem will scream at Amna one more time, I will grab a frying pan & hit him myself. I just can not stand this man I swear. Yes, I get it, he is frustrated that things didn’t turn out according to his plan but seeing him treat Amna like a doormat only when she showcases her reasonable concerns is a bit too much. I think there needs to happen more in their story because this entire Amna-questions-while-Saleem-screams scenario is becoming repetitive, monotonous & boring. I wish they also give us an insight into Amna’s background, may be when she will come across Zaid & they will have some conversations, that’s when we will get to know more about her but I really am keen to know where she comes from & how she ended up with a loon like Saleem!

Overall, this episode was decent. I must say that even though Yaar e Bewafa is not unique or exceptional but it qualifies as a very decent drama that you can always tune to because the characters have some personality, the cast is good looking & the struggles of people coming from middle class background are shown with so much accuracy & reality that you can actually feel for the characters. It surely is a very very good drama & the writer, director & the actors deserve appreciation for it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 7 Review – Major Developments!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was quite interesting. I am glad things moved forward & this episode brought major developments with it which were needed because I was dreading that things were going to get slow & repetitive but it didn’t happen & I am glad. The direction of this drama is strong & I am still loving the simple treatment the director has given to the script & the clarity with which the writer has written the story, like this drama doesn’t provide you with something huge but it is interesting enough to make you tune to it!

So, Fizza came to a conclusion that the only way to resolve matters with Zaid was to file for divorce since this time around he didn’t beg her & didn’t do what she expected him to. Fizza has gotten used to walking all over Zaid that now when Zaid didn’t give her the edge, she couldn’t digest it & thought he has changed. Fizza is only thinking selfishly where she is not even trying to understand the reason why Zaid is behaving this way. His mother is bed-ridden & all he has said is that their immigration can wait but Fizza thinks the world will end therefore Zaid has to move with her, which is unfair. Neelam has played her part really well in maligning Fizza’s heart & mind against Zaid because she has been constantly brainwashing Fizza that Zaid is not the same person anymore & he doesn’t care!

As if things weren’t hard enough for Zaid that now he had an added pressure to deal with, which was Fizza’s demand for divorce. The way Zaid barged into Neelam’s house & authrotatively told Fizza to come with him showed that he wasn’t ready to give up on this marriage & despite all that Fizza put him up with, he still loved her enough to be wanting to be with her. Zaid has given Fizza enough chances & he has given her enough edge but now things have gotten out of hands. In the end, when Zaid realized that Fizza is not budging, he took his son with him because he knows what Ahmed must be going through!

Even though Neelam tried to tell Fizza that she needs to think things through, she also encouraged her by saying that she has made the right decision & Neelam is going to be there for Fizza. I know Neelam is to be blamed too but more than her, it is Fizza who is at fault because she has dealt with this entire matter selfishly & is not ready to even think for a second what Zaid must be going through & what their son Ahmed will go through in the future when he will see his parents drifting apart. Finally, Zaid had to tell his neighbor that Fizza is not ready to come back, obviously he understood that the lady was doing enough but she was also getting distressed because there was a limit to how much support she could offer. Even the aunt did tell Zaid that it is Fizza who should understand, like it is obvious that anyone who would listen to this entire matter would be of the same opinion that in this case, Fizza is at fault!

On the other hand, Saleem got robbed & things once again went out of control. Just when Amna thought Saleem was ready to take the responsibility of his family, they got faced with another trial. I totally understand Saleem’s anger & frustration but the way he mistreats his wife & misbehaves with her puts me off big time. I don’t know why but I think may be Zaid will hire Amna to take care of his mother & that’s how things will get going between them. I am actually waiting to see their track.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting & I am glad that everything is progressing at a decent pace. I really wish the drama doesn’t lose its pace because for a story so simple, a lot more detailing & slow pace would kill its charm & would make it hard to tune to it. All the actors doing a fab job & the direction along with editing of this drama are its strongest point. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 24 Review – Wrap It Up!

Ohkay so, to be honest abb thora ziyada ho raha hai. I have always liked this drama despite the slow pace but this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was not only slow but so boring because it was way too predictable & then we had those flashbacks which really took boredom to another level. I think this was the 2nd last episode so it’s alright but really I think the drama could have ended this week & no one would’ve batted an eyelid!

So, Amna has always been this selfless person & she once approached this entire matter the same way too. Amna thought she was done having all the happiness in the world that is why it was now her duty to give back Fizza what belonged to her. Even though Zaid tried to make her understand that it was Amna who he wanted by his side but Amna still didn’t pay heed to him.

Amna left without notifying anyone thinking it will fix things but little did she know that she was creating a havoc in Zaid’s life because he started looking for her everywhere. I really wish Zaid had taken care of everything on his own in stead of listening to Amna because in any case Zaid had to come to a decision, so what was he waiting for in the first place? The way Zaid chickened out & allowed Fizza back in his life made things difficult for him but he chose not to foresee where things could lead to.

The search for Amna continued & in the meanwhile, Zaid clearly told Fizza what he would do if anything might happen to Amna & Omar. I think Fizza on her own will back off & leave Zaid for Amna as she has seen that Amna makes him happy. I think Zaid should come to a decision himself in stead of waiting for Fizza to leave. Zaid got married to Amna so he needs to stand by her in stead of being a spectator. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 23 – Review!

Ohkay so, even though a few things in this episode made sense but a lot didn’t & were stretched beyond limit. I really think they should wrap things up now because ending this drama on a positive note is what’s left to be done so they better hurry up!

So, Fizza thought just the way she left on her own terms, she will barge into Zaid’s home & his life on her own terms too. Now when Fizza experienced everything she wanted, she realized she was incomplete without Zaid. Even though Fizza has been shown to be the wrong one right from the beginning, but now she had a valid point that why didn’t Zaid divorce her before getting married to Amna as that gave her a false hope & she wasn’t wrong in assuming that Zaid didn’t want to leave her!

Amna has always been too selfless to be true but I wish the writer had written some dialogues for her because after having a couple of conversations with Zaid, she lost her voice. Please don’t tell me that Amna will decide to walk away from Zaid’s life to give Fizza back which isn’t hers anymore!

I must say out of all things, what I found the most unconvincing one was Zaid’s cluelessness? I mean he didn’t even had to go through the hassle of telling Fizza the truth about his & Amna’s relationship as she found that out herself, so the least he could do was take a stand & show Fizza her right place? I don’t understand when Zaid made up his mind & brought Amna back then why didn’t he tell Fizza to leave or why didn’t he come to a decision regarding his relation with Fizza because even he can’t deny that he is still married to her.

While seeing Fizza torturing Amna with her taunts, I was wondering where was Zaid? Yes, he must have been at work but still, Zaid knows Fizza too well to know what she must be putting Amna through so in stead of relying on Amna & waiting for her approval, Zaid should have taken matters in his hand & should have come to a conclusion.

Even though this drama has been a decent journey, but now they really should wrap things up & I don’t want Fizza to be doing the heavy lifting by walking away on her own after feeling pity & having mercy on Zaid & Amna, I want Zaid to take a decision like a man & call spade a spade. He has already relied on the ladies, time for him to take charge of the situation & paas a verdict ASAP! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 22 Review – Plot Twist!

Ohkay so, there was a major plot twist in this episode but I am not too sure if that was the right way to go about it especially when it comes to Zaid. I am sure this scenario was added to have a couple of episodes more but then again, since it is going to end on a happy note, I don’t mind plus Fizza’s track needed a proper closure too, so realistically, they did well!

So, Fizza came back all apologetic & regretful that she didn’t stand by Zaid’s side when he needed her the most. Fizza got a taste of her dreams & she realized that it was nothing in comparison to what she compromised upon, which was a relationship with a loving husband. The thing that shocked me the most was when Zaid told her that she could stay in his home? Obviously the writer didn’t have any other option but I felt what Zaid did was so unlike him because it was like despite knowing that it was Amna’s home now, he was giving Fizza an open invitation to live there for as long as she wanted.

Also, Amna was always a very selfless sort of a person but now what she is doing is again something hard to digest, like why is she ready to forsake everything for Fizza knowing that Zaid is so over that her & the relationship that they shared. I am not sure why did Amna think not telling Fizza straight away about her & Zaid’s marriage was the right thing to do? Zaid I believe, in stead of behaving like a spectator should have taken matters in his hands & told Fizza that he got married to Amna because staying quiet about it is not the best way to go about it. Zaid is already over Fizza to be mindful of her heartbreak, so he should’ve told her everything but again, since things happen after taking their sweet time in this drama, I am sure Fizza will find out the truth probably after a few episodes.

Anyhow, it was a decent episode. The entire story of this drama has been really good & the execution makes it even better. I must say Sarah Khan looked adorable in this episode as well. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 21 Review – Super Sweet!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was again very sweet despite being a bit tooooooo slow for my liking, but then again, when your favorite characters are having good time, you tend to enjoy a slow episode too!

I liked how Zaid was loving being a husband & a father again. Zaid was always shown to be such sort of a person who would be sincerely committed to the one he loved that is why he was now behaving the exact same way he used to behave with Fizza because now he was in love with Amna.

It was beautiful seeing how Amna was enjoying everything, every little gesture that Zaid did for her & Omar, that is why she told Omar that Zaid was his father as she could see how devoted Zaid was towards them.

All the scenes that they showed like Zaid & Amna attending a dinner & then going out for shopping, dine outs & Zaid buying gifts for her was very sweet & it was refreshing to see a healthy & beautiful relationship in a drama for a change. As we are so used to seeing toxic marital relationships on screen, this one came as a breath of fresh air because there was so much ‘normalcy’ that was being shown in regards to marriage. The best part about this entire scenario was that after a long journey of hardships & trials, Zaid & Amna were both at a happy place that too as a family & things were being favorable for them!

Since we are so used to the idea of something bad happening when the characters are happy, I was dreading an accident when Amna was on her way back to Karachi from Hyderabad, but thankfully nothing of that sort happened but unfortunately a bigger accident in the form of Fizza & Ahmed was waiting for both Zaid & Amna. The moment Zaid was about to open the gate, I knew it was going to be Fizza, first because it was a gut feeling & second because I could see different colored clothes through the gate, lol!

Overall, it was a very nice episode & I like the positive feel of this drama. Imran Abbas & Sarah Khan as a couple look adorable & I love their chemistry. I am definitely looking forward to Zaid & Fizza’s confrontation & what Amna’s reaction would be. Fizza has only had a bad impact on Zaid’s life & once again, now that Zaid was emotionally settled, she has showed up to ruin his peace. Let’s see how things’d roll. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 20 Review – Sweet!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was utterly sweet because it gave us viewers those moments that we wanted to see. I am glad that they didn’t end the drama at Zaid & Amna’s union & continued the story, not making us feel like we didn’t get enough of them!

So, at first Amna decided to accept the proposal that her Khala arranged for her because she felt that now after learning the truth about Saleem’s promise, if she will go to Zaid, it would make her look selfish & that is something that she didn’t want. Even though Amna decided that she would ignore Zaid’s request, she still continued to think about him because deep in her heart, even she knew that Zaid genuinely cared for her & Omar.

Zaid on his own was trying to send a message to Amna that he wanted to be with her but knowing that she accepted someone else’s proposal left him with no choice than to be happy for her. It was only because of Zaid’s niceness, Amna rejected the proposal & gave a good thought to what she wanted to do with her life.

Amna’s initiative was sweet where at first she went to meet Humera & then she went to tell Zaid that she respected his feelings & wanted to apologize for her behavior. Amna’s mention of not accepting the proposal was basically a hint to Zaid that she was kind of ready to give him a chance & the best thing happened when Zaid not only understood her message, but took it a step further by proposing her directly. That entire scene was done beautifully & Imran Abbas took it a notch higher with his acting where he made it obvious that Zaid was so much in love with Amna & wanted to be with her.

All the scenes which showed Zaid & Amna as a happy married couple & all of them as one happy family were absolutely sweet. It genuinely evoked a smile on my face as it was so good to see both Zaid & Amna & even Humera getting to live such happy moments after facing all the trials & tribulations. Their chemistry as a family was perfect & the overall feel was so positive.

I am sure Fizza will now try to walk back in Zaid’s life because that’s the only reason why she rejected Ali’s proposal. Fizza will come back only to learn that Zaid has moved on & all the reasons which forced him to do so. I can’t wait to see that.

Overall, this episode was perfect in literal sense. Imran Abbas & Sarah Khan’s chemistry was beautiful. The fact that this drama has been executed with simplicity makes it even more special because then you get to connect to the characters even more & easily at that. The writer, the director & the entire cast should take a bow for bringing such a simple & decent drama to the viewers. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 20 Review - Sweet!

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 19 Review – Heart-wrenching!

This episode of Yaar e Bewafa was heart-wrenching, especially because they covered the factors that lead to child labour. It was so hard to see it all & with this they covered another aspect of the reality where the toughest of circumstances push people to resort to the extremes. As heart-wrenching as it was, it was definitely done well!

So, Amna was having a hard time making the ends meet & the best Saleem’s friend could suggest was that she should allow Omar to work for the time being. I must say seeing that young boy working with his little hands was so heart-rending, it was just too much for me to handle. That little boy knew that his mother had no other option so he just surrendered & decided to help her. Everything that he did, from assisting the owner of the place to pouring tea & then returning home with stained clothes was a true but harsh depiction of a reality of all such people who are defeated by the circumstances & who resort to this extreme & it was portrayed flawlessly.

I literally sighed with relief when I saw Zaid spotting Omar. Zaid immediately understood what Amna must be going through & how helpless she must have been to send Omar for work. Zaid’s eagerness to help Amna & support her is appreciable. It was so obvious that Amna wouldn’t believe Zaid but the plot twist was the cassette that Saleem left behind in which he told her what he told Zaid that he should take her responsibility after he dies.

Fizza is moving on & even though Humera told Zaid that he should go to his wife & son, Zaid knew that it was too late as firstly, he was never going to leave his mother & secondly, he knew that there was nothing left in their relationship.

Overall, this episode was nice. The pace of the drama is quite slow but even after so many weeks they have succeeded in keeping the interest of the viewers alive. All the actors have done a great job too but the crown goes to the child actor playing the role of Omar, he is absolutely adorable, Masha Allah. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 18 Review – Emotionally Charged!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was not only emotionally impactful but took the story forward too. I am glad that the second phase of the story has now begun which we all were waiting to see. I must say, the way the emotions have been portrayed in this drama is what sets it apart & makes it a decent watch.

So, Saleem not only lost hope but he decided to end his life but before doing anything he decided to do something for his wife & son because that was the only way for him to put his heart to ease. Just because Saleem got to see how hard Amna was working made him feel a bit more burdened as he could see how much heavy lifting Amna has to do or would do when he won’t be there. Even though it was saddening to see Saleem losing last bit of hope that he had but at least he decided to fix a few things because he realized how hard life was for Amna, which was good & served as his redemption. Saleem’s visit to the Masjid was another scenario which showed that he was repenting for all of his wrongdoings, esepcially for what he put his wife & son through all this while.

Saleem went to meet Zaid so that he could have some guarantee that after his death, his wife & his son won’t be alone & that there will be someone who’d look after them. The fact that a rigid person like Saleem went to such an extreme of pleading Zaid to take Amna showcased how desperate he was to make things right especially for Amna & Omar as he could foresee how hard things will get for them with no one by their side.

Saleem ended up taking his life, leaving Amna all alone but she had no idea that before dying, he took care of her as he was sure that Zaid was a good human being who will take care of her. That entire scenario where Amna mourned his death was quite heartwrenching. The way Amna felt scared in her tiny room with her son sound asleep was another realistic portrayal, it showed that even though Saleem didn’t do much for his family, just his presence was enough for Amna to feel a little secure but since that wasn’t the case anymore, she was fearful.

Zaid now wants to do something for Amna but he doesn’t know how to approach her that is why he ended up seeking Jameela’s help as he really is keen on looking after Amna & Omar. Amna on the other hand was now struggling more than ever before, I think on Jameela’s insistence, Amna will once again start looking after Humera.

It was good to see Humera finally recovering, she will regain her mobility too but I am sure now even she’d want Amna by her side. The scenes of mother son duo were a treat to watch & finally, Zaid told her everything about Fizza, like she knew but this was the first time Zaid spoke to her without any filters.

Overall, this was one good episode of Yaar e Bewafa as the scenarios were not only done well but were perfectly portrayed. The way the emotions have been dealt with in this drama & how everything is shown realistically really draws your attention & allows you to relate to everything on a very different level. I like Yaar e Bewafa for its simple story, simple direction but impactful scenarios which strike a chord. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 17 Review – Flashbacks!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa tried to stir some sympathy for a negative character but I am not sure showing it after 16 weeks was a good idea because it is a long time for the viewers to form a definite opinion about a character so not sure why did the writer & director think this was a good idea or if it was going to work!

This episode was all about Saleem & his guilt which surfaced after Zaid had a conversation with him & tried to knock some sense into him & finally it worked but still I wasn’t a fan of all the flashbacks or how good Saleem used to be.

So Amna was an orphan living with her relatives when Saleem’s mother saw her & chose her for her son. It was good to see that Saleem & Amna did have a good marital life when things were working for Saleem, but then again, I want to have an insight into Amna’s character a bit more. Yes, we do get it that just because Saleem did so much for her in the beginning, she is returning it back to him but still I need to know what’s more behind that too good to be true facade.

Saleem got the news that he is terminally ill & no medication, nothing can save him, which further forced him to do something good for his family, even if it meant allowing his son to meet Zaid. I will say I teard up when I saw Saleem put shoes on Omar’s small feet. That child deserves all the happiness in the world & it was good to see Saleem doing at least something for him. Amna’s cluelessness was once again odd, like why couldn’t she put two & two together that after Zaid’s visit, Saleem was behaving differently so Zaid must’ve been the reason behind this change in Saleem?

Zaid & his friend’s conversations about Amna have become a bit too repetitive, it’s like they have nothing else to talk about & even when they do talk about Amna, it is all related to how Zaid is creating troubles for her! Anyways, looks like the story is going to move forward with Saleem’s exit & then it will be all about Zaid convincing Amna to accept his proposal, which I want to see happening. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 16 Review – Good But…

Ohkay so, it was a pretty decent episode of Yaar e Bewafa because there was some sort of development to its credit but I am getting irked by how black & white the characters are. The negative ones are too negative & the good ones are too good to be true. Even though what the writer has shown has a lot of reality to it but I think he could’ve balanced out the characters by adding more shades to their personality.

In last week’s review I said I would want to see Amna stand up for her son but in stead she stood up from the ground to grab Iodex for herself after she got a beating from Saleem? Seriously? They introduced Amna as someone who is loyal to a fault, without showing us her background or giving us their back story as to how Saleem & Amna met & what did Saleem do for her that she has become such an obedient wife? I think in order to balance things out, the writer should’ve shown that Saleem was a good father to Omar if not a good husband, that is why Amna keeps on forgiving him for the way he mistreats her, like some positivity from such a man? I know he is shown as a terminally ill patient but still, that is no excuse for his misconduct towards his wife & his innocent son. I know Amna feels for Saleem but to see her allowing him to even torture their son is a bit too much. I like Amna’s character but I think she is too good to be true because there’s a limit & any woman, under any circumstances would definitely put a stop to such abuse at some point in her life, that too when she is the one doing the heavylifting! Even if Amna can not stop Saleem from directing such abuse towards her, realistically she wouldn’t be sooo patient with him, like I think if they had shown Amna losing her cool at least once, that would’ve made her character realistic. I am not saying she should stop being loyal & sincere to him but giving back to him once wouldn’t make her look like some alien species!

Zaid can’t stop sympathizing with Amna, even though he knows that his interference in her life is causing troubles for her but he still can’t ignore Amna & her circumstances. Zaid not only feels for Amna but also for Omar because he knows that there’s a man like Saleem in their lives who is only torturing them. Even though Zaid’s friend keeps on reminding him that he is causing more problems for Amna but Zaid can’t ignore her.

Where we have Amna who is too good & Saleem who is too evil, we also have Fizza who is too weird & selfish, another example of extremely black character. We saw how Fizza was upset when she was leaving for Australia because deep down in her heart, even though she wanted to chase after her dreams, she still had some feelings for Zaid in her heart. Fizza choosing not to divorce Zaid was evidence enough that she still loved him, so not sure why some unseen character Ali has been introduced in their lives & not only that, Fizza is spending time with him too? I think the writer should’ve left things like that, where Fizza chose to part ways because she wanted a better life for herself & her son, because to show her moving on that too with another man is a bit too much. It is like they are deliberately showing it to make the good Zaid look even better that he wasn’t the first one to move on & since he saw that Fizza chose another life partner, he then started seeing Amna as his prospect wife? Even if they had shown that Zaid decided to start a new life with Amna first, it wouldn’t have changed anything because it is quite obvious that whatever Zaid & Fizza had is a water under the bridge now, so not sure why they writer once again made Fizza look a bit more selfish that while still being in Zaid’s Nikkah & being married to him legally, she chose to date someone!?!

The last scene of this episode was good. I liked how Zaid decided to give a reality check to Saleem & forced him to see the mirror where he was the culprit & not Amna. I don’t know why I have a feeling that Saleem might’ve died with sharmindagi but just because Zaid’s colleague saw him leaving from Amna’s place, Amna will think it is Zaid who is responsible for Saleem’s death? I think this is how may be the story will progress, let’s see. Anyways, I liked Imran Abbas’s acting in this episode a lot, especially in the last scene where he confronted Saleem. Can’t wait to see his & Amna’s story now. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 15 Review – Heartwarming!

Ohkay so, now the story of Yaar e Bewafa has come to a point where they will be taking it forward based on different situations. Despite the slow pace, I enjoyed watching this episode because it revolved around a child and his emotions which was heart-touching.

Amna is still fending for her useless husband Saleem who in stead of appreciating or respecting her, only believes in degrading her. It is kind of off-putting to see Amna putting up with everything that Saleem dishes out to her. Yes, being loyal is a very appreciable trait but to literally let someone walk all over you isn’t.

It was sad that both Amna & Saleem couldn’t even afford school shoes for Omar. Zaid on his own was now thinking about Amna but even he was unable to comprehend why she was on his mind. Zaid’s unconscious call to Amna while taking care of Humera showed that he somehow grew accustomed to Amna’s presence in his house. Amna definitely has left an impression & that is why Zaid is unable to take her out of his mind.

Zaid’s decision of seeing Omar every now and then went to show that whenever he missed his child, he found solace in Omar. Zaid’s gesture of buying shoes for Omar was the highlight & my favorite part of this episode. Omar deserves all the happiness in the world but just because his father is useless and his mother is too busy playing the role of an obedient wife, they both neglect Omar & his very reasonable demands. Zaid obviously couldn’t see Omar crying so he bought him the shoes that he liked. The smile on Omar’s face was adorable & it was overwhelming to see him refusing to take the shoes at first because he knew that his mother would not approve.

Finally, Amna understood that Omar needed those shoes & since she was unable to afford them, she allowed him to keep them provided he hid it from Saleem because she knew what he would do. To be honest, seeing Saleem burning those shoes that too in front of Omar was sickening, like that man can not even provide a decent living to his family & then because of his sick ego, he decided to deprive Omar of a very little happiness that he had because he had the shoes that he liked. Even though it is a done deal that Amna would never take a stand for herself but I wish for the sake of her child, she tells Saleem off because what he did was absolutely wrong & he had no right to go to such an extreme to snatch away the little happiness that Omar had!

Looks like Fizza’s parents now want her to get married. I am sure the day Fizza will decide to get married, Zaid will get over her because even though they both are separated, they are still legally married. Since Fizza moved on just so easily because that was something that she wanted, I won’t be surprised if she will choose to get married to Ali, the guy her parents have chosen for her. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 13 & 14 Review – Needs To Pick Up The Pace!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa were slow but interesting. I think they really should pick up the pace because due to limited characters & repetitive scenes, it has become one such drama that I watch while fast forwarding & while doing that, I know that I am not missing much. It still is a very decent watch but I guess this drama can be a good choice for binge watching because to tune to it every week for a slow episode is not that nice!

So, Amna was faced with one difficulty after another & even though she didn’t mean to, she ended up giving a lot of reasons for Zaid to complain. She left his mother because she had to take care of her injured kid, it was sad to see Amna struggling so hard & Zaid not even giving her a chance to explain.

To be honest, even though I sympathize with Amna & I understand her character but I think I need more because till date, ever since the drama has begun all we know about her is that she puts up with the mistreatment of Saleem & there’s nothing more to her character. Zaid tried to talk to Saleem because he understood that Humera was comfortable with Amna but Saleem in stead of understanding Zaid’s problems, ended up making things even tougher for Amna. I don’t really understand why is Saleem so insecure? Has Amna not done enough? Is she not putting up with everything that he throws at her? Hasn’t she been able to prove her loyalty to him? It is sad to see her struggling so hard to make the ends meet only so that her husband can be well-rested but he can not see that, rather he puts even more restrictions on her!

Zaid’s involvement in Amna’s life created even more problems for her. Zaid tried to compensate her for all that she did for his mother but Amna decided not to accept anything because she wanted to draw a line & let Zaid know how much she respects her husband (deliberately not using the word love here). Anyways, Zaid’s mother made some progress & he knew that she needs Amna even more now because she needed that extra attention & care to recover perfectly & that is why he chose to meet Saleem but like a lunatic, he assaulted him.

To be honest, when Amna received the call after Zaid & Saleem’s fight, I really thought that she would get the good/bad news that he is no more but I was majorly disappointed when he survived. I really want this character out of the picture because he has survived for too long despite being absolutely useless.

It was interesting how Zaid was reminded of Fizza when he saw Amna taking a stand for Saleem & being by his side through thick & thin. This is the first trait of Amna that Zaid has noticed & it did leave enough impact for him to not only compare her with Fizza but discuss it with his friend too. Till this point, all we know about Amna is that she is loyal to a fault, but I need something more. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 12 – Review!

Ohkay so, it was another slow but decent episode of Yaar e Bewafa. Even though the story has moved to the second phase, I am finding the pace a bit too slow. Yes, it is obvious that the drama makers must be having a certain number of episodes in mind but since there are such few characters that the story is revolving around, a lot of the scenes end up looking repetitive & long. Nonetheless, the drama in general is quite decent & the way the struggles & the emotions of regular people have been portrayed is commendable!

This episode was all about Amna & her juggle between her personal life & work. Amna has pretty much gotten the hang of what she has to do & that is why she was comfortably looking after Humera. It was good that she chose to tag her son along because it would be better for her son to not be around Saleem who has nothing but coughing to offer. The only progress Saleem’s character made was that apart from yelling, he was now coughing incessantly.

Even though Amna stepped out of her house to earn some money, things were still hard for her because she had to take care of Humera, Saleem & then her son Ahmed as well & there’s a limit to how much she could do & sadly, when her limits were pushed, Zaid chose not to understand her because for him, his mother’s well-being is most important. Even though Amna did all that she could but even her son needed her but Zaid chose not to give her the chance to explain why she left Humera alone.

I liked how Zaid was bonding with Ahmed, obviously he misses his own son too & Amna’s son must’ve made Zaid miss his own son a lot. At first I thought Zaid wouldn’t entertain Amna’s child but it was a pleasant surprise to see him having a conversation with the young boy. It was good that after a very rough day, Zaid learnt that the progress his mother made was all due to Amna’s efforts because Zaid wasn’t available for his mother as much as Amna was in these last few weeks. Even Humera has grown to like Amna that is why she was seen asking about Amna.

I am sure now that Saleem has come across Zaid, he would make things even more difficult for Amna. He hasn’t stopped taunting her ever since she has started working, so now knowing that she works at a place of a man that too like Zaid, he wouldn’t stop pestering Amna. Overall, this episode was pretty decent but I would like things to speed up a bit. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 11 Review – Change of Scenario!

Ohkay so, with this episode of Yaar e Bewafa, the story took a completely different turn which was good & refreshing to see. Even though the episode was once again on the slower side but the progress in the story compensated a great deal for it. This drama might not give you a lot to talk about but the overall story & execution of the play is quite nice which makes it easier for the viewer to tune to it.

So, with Fizza out of the picture & the neighbor aunty finding it hard to take care of Humera, Zaid had to find someone who’d be able to do that. It was good that Zaid’s friend once again came up with the suitable idea that Zaid could hire someone to look after his mother. I liked how they showed that one thing lead to another because Zaid’s colleague heard about it & she immediately thought of Amna as shew knew that Amna was in dire need of a job that would pay her a decent amount to make the ends meet.

Amna obviously at first showed hesitation because she assumed that her husband wouldn’t allow her to do this job but upon her friend’s persistence, Amna decided to meet Zaid & his mother. Amna’s friend had a point that since Saleem didn’t want Amna to do a job at any such place that would have men around her, this one was the best opportunity that she was going to get. Zaid hired Amna without much hesitation because he knew that he couldn’t afford not to as he was already having a hard time managing his job & household chores on his own.

At first Humera gave Amna a hard time but Amna decided to open up a bit. I liked seeing their subtle bonding, especially over the mention of Amna’s son. I am sure it won’t be too long when Humera would want Amna to bring her son with her, since she already misses her grandson.

I must say I was riled at the way Saleem was treating Amna & how he was making it obvious to her that even if she is the one making money, he is still the head of the family & was still going to boss around her because he is the ‘husband’. It was absolutely heart-wrenching seeing Saleem not moving a muscle even after he knew that his son was hungry. It is ironic that at one hand Saleem expects Amna to do the heavy-lifting like any head of the family would, but on the other hand he reminds her every single time that she has no authority over anything, basically implying that she is a nobody!

Anyways, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was pretty good. Even though the scenarios are simple, the way the emotions have been portrayed is brilliant. Sara Khan looks absolutely beautiful even in zero makeup, amusing but true that it seems Imran Abbas did the makeup on Sara Khan’s behalf as well because in some of the scenes his eye-shadow to his lipstick to his foundation, everything was screaming its presence on his face but apart from that, his acting compensates a great deal for the wrong foundation shade that in some scenes made him look green! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 10 Review – Pick Up The Pace Please!

Ohkay so, one track finally got a closure in this episode & now I am looking forward to the second phase of the story. I must say the pace of the drama is way too slow & I am not sure if this is how the pace is going to be or it will slow down further. I really think a few & new twists & turns are required to keep the drama engaging, so let’s hope for the best.

Just like I predicted, seeing Ahmed all happy with the luxuries he was getting because of his mother at his grandfather’s place, Zaid felt like a failure & that is what pushed him to accept Fizza’s demand. Zaid gave up on everything only for the sake of his son because even he admitted that he could never afford to give Ahmed what he wanted. Zaid realized that there was no need to fight so hard because realistically, he couldn’t do as much as Fizza would for their child, so he accepted it as his fate.

Fizza also ended up taking the case back, I liked this development because it was unpredictable & I didn’t see it coming. At least they both didn’t get divorced but just got separated because they both had different priorities. I think this was the mature way to go about it. Yes, in her anger & frustration, Fizza really pushed things to the limit but then understood Zaid’s perspective & realized that there was no need to end this relationship, at least this way Ahmed would always have someone whom he’d know as his father. Zaid wasn’t stopping Fizza from leaving so there was no need for her to divorce him.

I literally forwarded all of Saleem’s scenes because I am tired of his yells & screams. I think Amna is thinking in the right direction that she should work so that at least she can provide some decent meals to her son. It is ridiculous that Saleem expects Amna to starve herself but not say a word. I really can’t wait for things to kick-start in Amna’s life where there would be everything except Saleem’s screaming. I think now that Amna is looking for work, someone will get Zaid & Amna in touch with each other where she will take care of his mother, may be this will be the job that Saleem would approve of.

Overall, this episode was pretty simple & didn’t give much to talk about apart from Zaid & Fizza’s decision of not divorcing each other. I must say the dependence on flashbacks was way too much in this episode & literally by forwarding those flashbacks, I watched this entire episode in nearly half the time. Really want things to get going now & I think they will since Zaid is giving hard time to the aunt who is taking care of his mother, so Zaid will definitely be needing someone else to look after Humera. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 06 Review – Drifting Apart!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was on the slower side but everything that was shown needed this much of detailing because it was showcasing the struggles of two people who loved each other a lot but weren’t on the same page anymore & were finding it hard to adjust to the new side that their partner was showing to them.

Fizza has completely lost the plot & Neelam is adding fuel to the fire. Even though I didn’t understand Neelam’s involvement in Fizza’s life but then again, she would’ve never done that if Fizza herself hadn’t given her that much of an edge to say anything against Zaid. Fizza is the one to be blamed here for sharing the nitty gritty of her personal life with Neelam to such an extent that she got the chance to malign her heart against her husband. It is obvious, Neelam also belongs to the same social class as Fizza, so it is always going to be hard for her to relate to Zaid & see Fizza sacrificing & struggling to make her marriage work. Although, in this case, Fizza doesn’t even have to struggle or compromise, because it is basic compassion that she needs to understand what her mother in law & her husband are going through!

Fizza made the worst decision of her life & looks like she is not even going to regret it. She moved out & shifted to Neelam’s place only to test Zaid further. Going by the flashbacks that shed a light on the relationship that Fizza & Zaid shared before getting married, it was too obvious that Fizza bossed around Zaid & just because he loved her & couldn’t see her upset, he did everything that she told him to do because for him, that was his way of displaying his love for her. Fizza was always the dominant one in this relationship & Zaid didn’t mind it until that trait of hers ended up becoming the main reason behind them drifting apart. Fizza was finding it hard to relate to Zaid now, because for the first time in life, he was taking a stand against Fizza’s wishes. Fizza never imagined that she would get to see this side of Zaid’s personality too but in this case, Zaid has put his foot down for the right as all this while, he has done everything that she wanted, but now, not for his own sake but for his mother, he wasn’t budging & Fizza didn’t approve of that!

It was ridiculous seeing Fizza using her son Ahmed & his future as a weapon to blackmail Zaid but she chose to overlook Ahmed’s plea of wanting to be with his father & grandmother. Fizza wants do everything for Ahmed but she is missing the point that he is the one who is going to suffer the most. Fizza has forgotten that in the pursuit of ‘brighter future’ she is compromising on the bond that Ahmed & Zaid share which is obviously very important for Ahmed’s upbringing too. I liked the confrontation between Zaid & Fizza where he clearly told her that he didn’t have any time for her tantrums & if she wanted, she could come back. It was amusing how even during this conversation, Fizza was trying to dictate Zaid that she expects him to beg her to come back & she expected that he’d plead in front of her but since she has tested Zaid to the max, even he has given up & has reached a point where he doesn’t care anymore. Fizza being a mother should also consider herself in her mother-in-law’s position that what if at one point in her life she needs her son & if he’d turn a blind eye from her, how would she feel?

Amna & Saleem’s track hasn’t made any progress, he coughs, she tells him to take care of himself & he snubs her annoyingly. I really wish to see more in their story because not much has really happened in their track since the drama has begun. Overall, this episode was interesting, I like how the emotions are portrayed in this drama, that is why despite being simple everything is relatable & engaging. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa & oh yes, Geo TV drama uploaders set a new record by uploading the episode in 720p *touchwood*.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 05 – Convincing Developments!

Ohkay so, it was yet another interesting episode of Yaar e Bewafa. It is commendable how the story is progressing & we are getting to understand the characters better with each passing episode. They are slowly turning the pages of the story & it sure makes it engaging enough.

So, this episode shed a light on how the differences were slowly creeping in between Fizza & Zaid. The moment I saw Fizza’s friend Neelam, I knew something was going to change in her & that’s exactly what happened. I won’t blame Neelam though because she only heard one side of the story & because she sympathized with Fizza thinking she doesn’t have an access to all the luxuries that she was used to, she kept on giving her the advice that suited Fizza the best. Fizza would’ve never ever paid attention to Neelam if she had told Fizza that she needs to be patient & understand Zaid’s condition, but just because what Neelam said was in line with Fizza’s own thoughts, she turned it into an opportunity to think that Zaid was wrong & he wasn’t giving her, her due rights.

I like how they have realistically shown all the pressures a person deals with, like with Zaid, he was already tensed because of his mother & because of that he was unable to perform well at his job & to add more to the baggage, Fizza was making things difficult for him as well. It was good to see that Zaid decided to take the matters in his hands & contacted Mr. Siddique to get the tender approved as he knew that if he wouldn’t do that, it would cost him his job & at this stage he couldn’t afford that. Zaid was tensed when this issue was persisting at his job & it showed in his behavior even when he was home but the moment he fixed everything, his mood changed & he seemed far more relaxed. All these little details add more reality to every single situation & for that the director should be commended. The moment Fizza started having issues with Zaid’s decision, she also stopped taking care of his mother & that was another realistic portrayal of how people usually react when things don’t go their way!

I think even though Fizza has sacrificed a lot, but all this while, she has developed this habit of rubbing her sacrifices on Zaid’s face every time she wants something to be done & that is why, even now when she saw that Zaid’s mother needed him the most, she kept on remininding him that he was forgetting about all the things that she has done for him. In all these years, Fizza has gotten used to the idea of Zaid doing compromises that even in this situation, she expects him to compromise on his mother’s well-being only to accompany her to Australia because she is fixated with the idea of a better future.

For the first time, Saleem was seen trying to do something for the sake of his family too & his friend gave him the idea of opening a mobile shop because that would guarantee a steady income. I totally understand that Saleem is also a depiction of reality of such men who treat their wives as nobody & don’t even give them the right to question or suggest something, so even though his behavior is realistic, I find him off-putting, like the moment Saleem’s character comes on-screen I am actually waiting for his scene to get over so that I get to see something/someone else. I hate the way he treats Amna & I actually hope to see him out of her life because she actually deserves so much better. Anyways, I really hope they give us some background story of Amna’s character too for us to know & understand how she ended up with a man like Saleem!

Overall, this episode was detailed & interesting too. I liked how they didn’t just overdo everything yet & slowly started showing how Zaid & Fizza were drifting apart because of Fizza’s irrationality. Fizza definitely has left her parents for Zaid’s sake but that was her own decision & now because she has decided that Zaid should leave his mother, she thinks he is obliged to follow it. This shows how Fizza always had this selfishness in her & she only has niceness to offer till things go her way because now when its the time for her to stand by her husband, she has started seeing him as the culprit who doesn’t want what’s best for his family. I can’t wait to see what more do they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.
