Yaar e Bewafa Episode 16 Review – Good But…

Ohkay so, it was a pretty decent episode of Yaar e Bewafa because there was some sort of development to its credit but I am getting irked by how black & white the characters are. The negative ones are too negative & the good ones are too good to be true. Even though what the writer has shown has a lot of reality to it but I think he could’ve balanced out the characters by adding more shades to their personality.

In last week’s review I said I would want to see Amna stand up for her son but in stead she stood up from the ground to grab Iodex for herself after she got a beating from Saleem? Seriously? They introduced Amna as someone who is loyal to a fault, without showing us her background or giving us their back story as to how Saleem & Amna met & what did Saleem do for her that she has become such an obedient wife? I think in order to balance things out, the writer should’ve shown that Saleem was a good father to Omar if not a good husband, that is why Amna keeps on forgiving him for the way he mistreats her, like some positivity from such a man? I know he is shown as a terminally ill patient but still, that is no excuse for his misconduct towards his wife & his innocent son. I know Amna feels for Saleem but to see her allowing him to even torture their son is a bit too much. I like Amna’s character but I think she is too good to be true because there’s a limit & any woman, under any circumstances would definitely put a stop to such abuse at some point in her life, that too when she is the one doing the heavylifting! Even if Amna can not stop Saleem from directing such abuse towards her, realistically she wouldn’t be sooo patient with him, like I think if they had shown Amna losing her cool at least once, that would’ve made her character realistic. I am not saying she should stop being loyal & sincere to him but giving back to him once wouldn’t make her look like some alien species!

Zaid can’t stop sympathizing with Amna, even though he knows that his interference in her life is causing troubles for her but he still can’t ignore Amna & her circumstances. Zaid not only feels for Amna but also for Omar because he knows that there’s a man like Saleem in their lives who is only torturing them. Even though Zaid’s friend keeps on reminding him that he is causing more problems for Amna but Zaid can’t ignore her.

Where we have Amna who is too good & Saleem who is too evil, we also have Fizza who is too weird & selfish, another example of extremely black character. We saw how Fizza was upset when she was leaving for Australia because deep down in her heart, even though she wanted to chase after her dreams, she still had some feelings for Zaid in her heart. Fizza choosing not to divorce Zaid was evidence enough that she still loved him, so not sure why some unseen character Ali has been introduced in their lives & not only that, Fizza is spending time with him too? I think the writer should’ve left things like that, where Fizza chose to part ways because she wanted a better life for herself & her son, because to show her moving on that too with another man is a bit too much. It is like they are deliberately showing it to make the good Zaid look even better that he wasn’t the first one to move on & since he saw that Fizza chose another life partner, he then started seeing Amna as his prospect wife? Even if they had shown that Zaid decided to start a new life with Amna first, it wouldn’t have changed anything because it is quite obvious that whatever Zaid & Fizza had is a water under the bridge now, so not sure why they writer once again made Fizza look a bit more selfish that while still being in Zaid’s Nikkah & being married to him legally, she chose to date someone!?!

The last scene of this episode was good. I liked how Zaid decided to give a reality check to Saleem & forced him to see the mirror where he was the culprit & not Amna. I don’t know why I have a feeling that Saleem might’ve died with sharmindagi but just because Zaid’s colleague saw him leaving from Amna’s place, Amna will think it is Zaid who is responsible for Saleem’s death? I think this is how may be the story will progress, let’s see. Anyways, I liked Imran Abbas’s acting in this episode a lot, especially in the last scene where he confronted Saleem. Can’t wait to see his & Amna’s story now. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 15 Review – Heartwarming!

Ohkay so, now the story of Yaar e Bewafa has come to a point where they will be taking it forward based on different situations. Despite the slow pace, I enjoyed watching this episode because it revolved around a child and his emotions which was heart-touching.

Amna is still fending for her useless husband Saleem who in stead of appreciating or respecting her, only believes in degrading her. It is kind of off-putting to see Amna putting up with everything that Saleem dishes out to her. Yes, being loyal is a very appreciable trait but to literally let someone walk all over you isn’t.

It was sad that both Amna & Saleem couldn’t even afford school shoes for Omar. Zaid on his own was now thinking about Amna but even he was unable to comprehend why she was on his mind. Zaid’s unconscious call to Amna while taking care of Humera showed that he somehow grew accustomed to Amna’s presence in his house. Amna definitely has left an impression & that is why Zaid is unable to take her out of his mind.

Zaid’s decision of seeing Omar every now and then went to show that whenever he missed his child, he found solace in Omar. Zaid’s gesture of buying shoes for Omar was the highlight & my favorite part of this episode. Omar deserves all the happiness in the world but just because his father is useless and his mother is too busy playing the role of an obedient wife, they both neglect Omar & his very reasonable demands. Zaid obviously couldn’t see Omar crying so he bought him the shoes that he liked. The smile on Omar’s face was adorable & it was overwhelming to see him refusing to take the shoes at first because he knew that his mother would not approve.

Finally, Amna understood that Omar needed those shoes & since she was unable to afford them, she allowed him to keep them provided he hid it from Saleem because she knew what he would do. To be honest, seeing Saleem burning those shoes that too in front of Omar was sickening, like that man can not even provide a decent living to his family & then because of his sick ego, he decided to deprive Omar of a very little happiness that he had because he had the shoes that he liked. Even though it is a done deal that Amna would never take a stand for herself but I wish for the sake of her child, she tells Saleem off because what he did was absolutely wrong & he had no right to go to such an extreme to snatch away the little happiness that Omar had!

Looks like Fizza’s parents now want her to get married. I am sure the day Fizza will decide to get married, Zaid will get over her because even though they both are separated, they are still legally married. Since Fizza moved on just so easily because that was something that she wanted, I won’t be surprised if she will choose to get married to Ali, the guy her parents have chosen for her. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 13 & 14 Review – Needs To Pick Up The Pace!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa were slow but interesting. I think they really should pick up the pace because due to limited characters & repetitive scenes, it has become one such drama that I watch while fast forwarding & while doing that, I know that I am not missing much. It still is a very decent watch but I guess this drama can be a good choice for binge watching because to tune to it every week for a slow episode is not that nice!

So, Amna was faced with one difficulty after another & even though she didn’t mean to, she ended up giving a lot of reasons for Zaid to complain. She left his mother because she had to take care of her injured kid, it was sad to see Amna struggling so hard & Zaid not even giving her a chance to explain.

To be honest, even though I sympathize with Amna & I understand her character but I think I need more because till date, ever since the drama has begun all we know about her is that she puts up with the mistreatment of Saleem & there’s nothing more to her character. Zaid tried to talk to Saleem because he understood that Humera was comfortable with Amna but Saleem in stead of understanding Zaid’s problems, ended up making things even tougher for Amna. I don’t really understand why is Saleem so insecure? Has Amna not done enough? Is she not putting up with everything that he throws at her? Hasn’t she been able to prove her loyalty to him? It is sad to see her struggling so hard to make the ends meet only so that her husband can be well-rested but he can not see that, rather he puts even more restrictions on her!

Zaid’s involvement in Amna’s life created even more problems for her. Zaid tried to compensate her for all that she did for his mother but Amna decided not to accept anything because she wanted to draw a line & let Zaid know how much she respects her husband (deliberately not using the word love here). Anyways, Zaid’s mother made some progress & he knew that she needs Amna even more now because she needed that extra attention & care to recover perfectly & that is why he chose to meet Saleem but like a lunatic, he assaulted him.

To be honest, when Amna received the call after Zaid & Saleem’s fight, I really thought that she would get the good/bad news that he is no more but I was majorly disappointed when he survived. I really want this character out of the picture because he has survived for too long despite being absolutely useless.

It was interesting how Zaid was reminded of Fizza when he saw Amna taking a stand for Saleem & being by his side through thick & thin. This is the first trait of Amna that Zaid has noticed & it did leave enough impact for him to not only compare her with Fizza but discuss it with his friend too. Till this point, all we know about Amna is that she is loyal to a fault, but I need something more. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 12 – Review!

Ohkay so, it was another slow but decent episode of Yaar e Bewafa. Even though the story has moved to the second phase, I am finding the pace a bit too slow. Yes, it is obvious that the drama makers must be having a certain number of episodes in mind but since there are such few characters that the story is revolving around, a lot of the scenes end up looking repetitive & long. Nonetheless, the drama in general is quite decent & the way the struggles & the emotions of regular people have been portrayed is commendable!

This episode was all about Amna & her juggle between her personal life & work. Amna has pretty much gotten the hang of what she has to do & that is why she was comfortably looking after Humera. It was good that she chose to tag her son along because it would be better for her son to not be around Saleem who has nothing but coughing to offer. The only progress Saleem’s character made was that apart from yelling, he was now coughing incessantly.

Even though Amna stepped out of her house to earn some money, things were still hard for her because she had to take care of Humera, Saleem & then her son Ahmed as well & there’s a limit to how much she could do & sadly, when her limits were pushed, Zaid chose not to understand her because for him, his mother’s well-being is most important. Even though Amna did all that she could but even her son needed her but Zaid chose not to give her the chance to explain why she left Humera alone.

I liked how Zaid was bonding with Ahmed, obviously he misses his own son too & Amna’s son must’ve made Zaid miss his own son a lot. At first I thought Zaid wouldn’t entertain Amna’s child but it was a pleasant surprise to see him having a conversation with the young boy. It was good that after a very rough day, Zaid learnt that the progress his mother made was all due to Amna’s efforts because Zaid wasn’t available for his mother as much as Amna was in these last few weeks. Even Humera has grown to like Amna that is why she was seen asking about Amna.

I am sure now that Saleem has come across Zaid, he would make things even more difficult for Amna. He hasn’t stopped taunting her ever since she has started working, so now knowing that she works at a place of a man that too like Zaid, he wouldn’t stop pestering Amna. Overall, this episode was pretty decent but I would like things to speed up a bit. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 11 Review – Change of Scenario!

Ohkay so, with this episode of Yaar e Bewafa, the story took a completely different turn which was good & refreshing to see. Even though the episode was once again on the slower side but the progress in the story compensated a great deal for it. This drama might not give you a lot to talk about but the overall story & execution of the play is quite nice which makes it easier for the viewer to tune to it.

So, with Fizza out of the picture & the neighbor aunty finding it hard to take care of Humera, Zaid had to find someone who’d be able to do that. It was good that Zaid’s friend once again came up with the suitable idea that Zaid could hire someone to look after his mother. I liked how they showed that one thing lead to another because Zaid’s colleague heard about it & she immediately thought of Amna as shew knew that Amna was in dire need of a job that would pay her a decent amount to make the ends meet.

Amna obviously at first showed hesitation because she assumed that her husband wouldn’t allow her to do this job but upon her friend’s persistence, Amna decided to meet Zaid & his mother. Amna’s friend had a point that since Saleem didn’t want Amna to do a job at any such place that would have men around her, this one was the best opportunity that she was going to get. Zaid hired Amna without much hesitation because he knew that he couldn’t afford not to as he was already having a hard time managing his job & household chores on his own.

At first Humera gave Amna a hard time but Amna decided to open up a bit. I liked seeing their subtle bonding, especially over the mention of Amna’s son. I am sure it won’t be too long when Humera would want Amna to bring her son with her, since she already misses her grandson.

I must say I was riled at the way Saleem was treating Amna & how he was making it obvious to her that even if she is the one making money, he is still the head of the family & was still going to boss around her because he is the ‘husband’. It was absolutely heart-wrenching seeing Saleem not moving a muscle even after he knew that his son was hungry. It is ironic that at one hand Saleem expects Amna to do the heavy-lifting like any head of the family would, but on the other hand he reminds her every single time that she has no authority over anything, basically implying that she is a nobody!

Anyways, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was pretty good. Even though the scenarios are simple, the way the emotions have been portrayed is brilliant. Sara Khan looks absolutely beautiful even in zero makeup, amusing but true that it seems Imran Abbas did the makeup on Sara Khan’s behalf as well because in some of the scenes his eye-shadow to his lipstick to his foundation, everything was screaming its presence on his face but apart from that, his acting compensates a great deal for the wrong foundation shade that in some scenes made him look green! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 10 Review – Pick Up The Pace Please!

Ohkay so, one track finally got a closure in this episode & now I am looking forward to the second phase of the story. I must say the pace of the drama is way too slow & I am not sure if this is how the pace is going to be or it will slow down further. I really think a few & new twists & turns are required to keep the drama engaging, so let’s hope for the best.

Just like I predicted, seeing Ahmed all happy with the luxuries he was getting because of his mother at his grandfather’s place, Zaid felt like a failure & that is what pushed him to accept Fizza’s demand. Zaid gave up on everything only for the sake of his son because even he admitted that he could never afford to give Ahmed what he wanted. Zaid realized that there was no need to fight so hard because realistically, he couldn’t do as much as Fizza would for their child, so he accepted it as his fate.

Fizza also ended up taking the case back, I liked this development because it was unpredictable & I didn’t see it coming. At least they both didn’t get divorced but just got separated because they both had different priorities. I think this was the mature way to go about it. Yes, in her anger & frustration, Fizza really pushed things to the limit but then understood Zaid’s perspective & realized that there was no need to end this relationship, at least this way Ahmed would always have someone whom he’d know as his father. Zaid wasn’t stopping Fizza from leaving so there was no need for her to divorce him.

I literally forwarded all of Saleem’s scenes because I am tired of his yells & screams. I think Amna is thinking in the right direction that she should work so that at least she can provide some decent meals to her son. It is ridiculous that Saleem expects Amna to starve herself but not say a word. I really can’t wait for things to kick-start in Amna’s life where there would be everything except Saleem’s screaming. I think now that Amna is looking for work, someone will get Zaid & Amna in touch with each other where she will take care of his mother, may be this will be the job that Saleem would approve of.

Overall, this episode was pretty simple & didn’t give much to talk about apart from Zaid & Fizza’s decision of not divorcing each other. I must say the dependence on flashbacks was way too much in this episode & literally by forwarding those flashbacks, I watched this entire episode in nearly half the time. Really want things to get going now & I think they will since Zaid is giving hard time to the aunt who is taking care of his mother, so Zaid will definitely be needing someone else to look after Humera. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 06 Review – Drifting Apart!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yaar e Bewafa was on the slower side but everything that was shown needed this much of detailing because it was showcasing the struggles of two people who loved each other a lot but weren’t on the same page anymore & were finding it hard to adjust to the new side that their partner was showing to them.

Fizza has completely lost the plot & Neelam is adding fuel to the fire. Even though I didn’t understand Neelam’s involvement in Fizza’s life but then again, she would’ve never done that if Fizza herself hadn’t given her that much of an edge to say anything against Zaid. Fizza is the one to be blamed here for sharing the nitty gritty of her personal life with Neelam to such an extent that she got the chance to malign her heart against her husband. It is obvious, Neelam also belongs to the same social class as Fizza, so it is always going to be hard for her to relate to Zaid & see Fizza sacrificing & struggling to make her marriage work. Although, in this case, Fizza doesn’t even have to struggle or compromise, because it is basic compassion that she needs to understand what her mother in law & her husband are going through!

Fizza made the worst decision of her life & looks like she is not even going to regret it. She moved out & shifted to Neelam’s place only to test Zaid further. Going by the flashbacks that shed a light on the relationship that Fizza & Zaid shared before getting married, it was too obvious that Fizza bossed around Zaid & just because he loved her & couldn’t see her upset, he did everything that she told him to do because for him, that was his way of displaying his love for her. Fizza was always the dominant one in this relationship & Zaid didn’t mind it until that trait of hers ended up becoming the main reason behind them drifting apart. Fizza was finding it hard to relate to Zaid now, because for the first time in life, he was taking a stand against Fizza’s wishes. Fizza never imagined that she would get to see this side of Zaid’s personality too but in this case, Zaid has put his foot down for the right as all this while, he has done everything that she wanted, but now, not for his own sake but for his mother, he wasn’t budging & Fizza didn’t approve of that!

It was ridiculous seeing Fizza using her son Ahmed & his future as a weapon to blackmail Zaid but she chose to overlook Ahmed’s plea of wanting to be with his father & grandmother. Fizza wants do everything for Ahmed but she is missing the point that he is the one who is going to suffer the most. Fizza has forgotten that in the pursuit of ‘brighter future’ she is compromising on the bond that Ahmed & Zaid share which is obviously very important for Ahmed’s upbringing too. I liked the confrontation between Zaid & Fizza where he clearly told her that he didn’t have any time for her tantrums & if she wanted, she could come back. It was amusing how even during this conversation, Fizza was trying to dictate Zaid that she expects him to beg her to come back & she expected that he’d plead in front of her but since she has tested Zaid to the max, even he has given up & has reached a point where he doesn’t care anymore. Fizza being a mother should also consider herself in her mother-in-law’s position that what if at one point in her life she needs her son & if he’d turn a blind eye from her, how would she feel?

Amna & Saleem’s track hasn’t made any progress, he coughs, she tells him to take care of himself & he snubs her annoyingly. I really wish to see more in their story because not much has really happened in their track since the drama has begun. Overall, this episode was interesting, I like how the emotions are portrayed in this drama, that is why despite being simple everything is relatable & engaging. Yaar e Bewafa Episode 05 – Convincing Developments!

Ohkay so, it was yet another interesting episode of Yaar e Bewafa. It is commendable how the story is progressing & we are getting to understand the characters better with each passing episode. They are slowly turning the pages of the story & it sure makes it engaging enough.

So, this episode shed a light on how the differences were slowly creeping in between Fizza & Zaid. The moment I saw Fizza’s friend Neelam, I knew something was going to change in her & that’s exactly what happened. I won’t blame Neelam though because she only heard one side of the story & because she sympathized with Fizza thinking she doesn’t have an access to all the luxuries that she was used to, she kept on giving her the advice that suited Fizza the best. Fizza would’ve never ever paid attention to Neelam if she had told Fizza that she needs to be patient & understand Zaid’s condition, but just because what Neelam said was in line with Fizza’s own thoughts, she turned it into an opportunity to think that Zaid was wrong & he wasn’t giving her, her due rights.

I like how they have realistically shown all the pressures a person deals with, like with Zaid, he was already tensed because of his mother & because of that he was unable to perform well at his job & to add more to the baggage, Fizza was making things difficult for him as well. It was good to see that Zaid decided to take the matters in his hands & contacted Mr. Siddique to get the tender approved as he knew that if he wouldn’t do that, it would cost him his job & at this stage he couldn’t afford that. Zaid was tensed when this issue was persisting at his job & it showed in his behavior even when he was home but the moment he fixed everything, his mood changed & he seemed far more relaxed. All these little details add more reality to every single situation & for that the director should be commended. The moment Fizza started having issues with Zaid’s decision, she also stopped taking care of his mother & that was another realistic portrayal of how people usually react when things don’t go their way!

I think even though Fizza has sacrificed a lot, but all this while, she has developed this habit of rubbing her sacrifices on Zaid’s face every time she wants something to be done & that is why, even now when she saw that Zaid’s mother needed him the most, she kept on remininding him that he was forgetting about all the things that she has done for him. In all these years, Fizza has gotten used to the idea of Zaid doing compromises that even in this situation, she expects him to compromise on his mother’s well-being only to accompany her to Australia because she is fixated with the idea of a better future.

For the first time, Saleem was seen trying to do something for the sake of his family too & his friend gave him the idea of opening a mobile shop because that would guarantee a steady income. I totally understand that Saleem is also a depiction of reality of such men who treat their wives as nobody & don’t even give them the right to question or suggest something, so even though his behavior is realistic, I find him off-putting, like the moment Saleem’s character comes on-screen I am actually waiting for his scene to get over so that I get to see something/someone else. I hate the way he treats Amna & I actually hope to see him out of her life because she actually deserves so much better. Anyways, I really hope they give us some background story of Amna’s character too for us to know & understand how she ended up with a man like Saleem!

Overall, this episode was detailed & interesting too. I liked how they didn’t just overdo everything yet & slowly started showing how Zaid & Fizza were drifting apart because of Fizza’s irrationality. Fizza definitely has left her parents for Zaid’s sake but that was her own decision & now because she has decided that Zaid should leave his mother, she thinks he is obliged to follow it. This shows how Fizza always had this selfishness in her & she only has niceness to offer till things go her way because now when its the time for her to stand by her husband, she has started seeing him as the culprit who doesn’t want what’s best for his family. I can’t wait to see what more do they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 04 Review – Emotions Done Right!

Ohkay so, another week, another brilliant episode of Yaar e Bewafa. I must say I love how the writer & the director have made it possible for us; the viewers of this drama to connect to the characters. I really like the easy-going approach that the director resorted to because that immediately helped the viewers in forming a relationship with these characters, that is why now when they are going through some tough times, we can actually understand their struggles & pain. I really really hope that the team of Yaar e Bewafa maintains the same standard for the rest of the drama because I can’t emphasize enough on how good I think it is & how much I like what I get to see every other week.

So, Amna came up with a plan that they should sell their house in order to pay for Saleem’s treatment. Obviously, Saleem was emotionally weak & even though he didn’t want to show it to Amna, even he was scared of death & may be that’s why, after resisting a bit, he allowed her to go ahead with what she had planned. I find it endearing how hard Amna is trying to fix things in her life, that too without complaining, because life keeps on throwing one curveball after another at her but she doesn’t waiver & faces everything with courage. I really wish Saleem had been of some help too, at least moral or emotional help but it is sad to see Amna being deprived of that right too. It is hard to see Saleem not realizing that because of him, Amna is the one who is suffering the most & unfortunately, she doesn’t have anyone by her side who would understand her feelings, except that Khala of hers!

Things finally shaped up for Fizza & Zaid. Fizza got her PR & Zaid got one too, which I found a bit inappropriate as things usually don’t roll that way, because in reality, the PR holder after spending some time in Australia applies for TR (temporary residence) for his/her spouse, but I do understand that since it is a drama & they had to make things simpler, they showed that both Fizza & Zaid got the PR & were ready to fly to Australia. I enjoyed seeing the scene where Zaid discussed Sara & her attitude with Fizza, like after a long time it is refreshing to see such a relationship on screen which is a realistic depiction of what a marital relation is all about, where husband & wife discuss every little detail with each other & discuss those things out.

To be honest, I was actually dreading seeing the conversation between Zaid & his mother where he would tell her that he was going to Australia leaving her all alone, on her own but that conversation didn’t take place & for reasons more grave & depressing. At that point I did feel that Fizza chose not to understand Zaid when he told her that it was hard for him to even imagine leaving his mother behind. Fizza no doubt has compromised & sacrificed a lot but looks like she played her part once & ever since she has always demanded compromise from Zaid’s side & he has always obliged. Even in this situation where Fizza should have understand where Zaid was coming from, she chose to talk about her parents only to make Zaid understand that they both couldn’t afford his concerns for his mother at this stage in their life which I found a bit unreasonable. Zaid surely listens to his wife & it does look like she knows how to make the most of it because she always weighs his argument down by presenting her own story & expects him to understand no matter what.

Sadly, Zaid’s mother got paralyzed, I must say, even though I am always against such situations where they show heart-attacks & deaths in order to take the story forward but what happened with Zaid’s mother didn’t seem like something out of the blue because ever since the drama has begun, we have seen that she was on medication & Zaid would always remind her to take her medicines on time. It looks like Zaid & Fizza’s better future will have to wait a little more since Zaid is not in a position to leave his mother. To be honest, even I am also not a fan of children being used in our dramas but I loved both the kids since they were shown as kids & not as pre-mature Dada Abba’s who wouldn’t do justice to their age. Ahmed’s questions were innocent but very sweet & I love the bond that Ahmed & Zaid’s mother share, it was absolutely sweet when Ahmed said he would be telling his Dado some stories before his bedtime. I also liked Amna’s child, his question about his new house was also very innocent yet heart-breaking, it is hard seeing such a young kid suffering at this age whereas he shouldn’t be exposed to all these things at this stage of his life. All this while I used to think how will Zaid & Amna cross paths, but looks like with both of them visiting hospital regularly, so I do see a chance there but obviously, the story is in an early stage for something of that sort to happen so let’s see.

Overall, I loved this episode, I love how effortlessly emotional they have made all the scenarios, like even though this episode was quite heavy-duty, I didn’t feel burdened, in fact I felt more for all the characters, especially Zaid’s mother. It is amazing that even though her character didn’t get much coverage but in such limited scenes, Samina Ahmed made such an impact that I find myself feeling for her character. Imran Abbas, Arij Fatima & Sara Khan have made Zaid, Fizza & Amna’s struggles look real & their flawless performances are adding more charm to the drama. Even though I have said this ever since the drama has begun, but I will say that again, I love how simple everything is about this drama & how simply yet realistically the story is progressing. Can’t wait for the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 03 Review – Realistic Portrayal of Reality!

Ohkay so, I am glad that everything that they have shown till this point in this drama is based on reality & they really haven’t relied on dramatic situations to take the story forward. Since day 1, this is what I have liked the most about Yaar e Bewafa that everything has been executed in such a simple & real manner that you end up relating to the struggles that are being shown in the lives of all the characters & this episode was no different.

I am sure where all the viewers, including me were thinking that the immigration agent will deceive Zaid, I was pleasantly surprised that he delivered the bad news but with proper justification for it because it actually shed a light on one of the realities that people who apply from the 3rd world countries end up dealing with such consequences too in the name of security. I liked the fact that they didn’t make things over-dramatic & kept them rather simple by showing that Rashid was actually feeling bad for Zaid & Fizza because he knew how eager they both were to move & settle in Australia!

Amna’s life is taken by storm & the fact that her husband is not co-operating is making things more difficult. Yes, I do understand that Saleem’s ego doesn’t allow him to be weak in front of Amna as he doesn’t want to burden her with more tensions but his snappy attitude doesn’t help either & that makes me not feel for him as much as I should. I feel for Amna a lot because by the end of the day, she’s the one left to do the heavy-lifting because Saleem easily puts everything on her & expects her to deal with it without complaining. Amna’s meeting with Saleem’s supervisor gave her the scary glimpse of what life will be like if she’ll be left alone because the world is filled with vultures of such sort who see women as a commodity & this was the first experience that Amna had where she got to see how people will try to exploit her when she’ll be vulnerable & weak. Amna failed to get Saleem’s pay because the manager was onto to something else but still she didn’t give up because irrespective of how Saleem treats her, he still is her husband & she wants to do everything to save him. It is good that she has Khala by her side, at least there’s someone who listens to her & feels her pain because in such tough circumstances, you definitely need someone’s support!

Fizza obviously made a huge deal out of the visa rejection, as if everything that happened was Zaid’s fault & he deliberately got his visa rejected. Yes, it is good that Fizza wants what’s best for her family but to see her being stuck on one thing really makes you question her at times. It was good that Rashid came up with a different option for Fizza & told her that she was eligible to apply for the PR. Obviously, Fizza deemed it as a good opportunity because at this stage, if there’s one thing that matters to her the most, it is the immigration!

Zaid was again feeling a lot of pressures & sadly, in stead of calming him down & telling him that everything was going to be alright, Fizza continued to burden him even more. It isn’t like Zaid on his own isn’t doing anything because if that would’ve been the case, Fizza’s frustration & agitation would’ve made sense but seeing how hard Zaid is trying, to see Fizza treating him as a failure actually sheds a light on how they both will drift apart in the future. Zaid was obviously finding it hard to settle for a smaller position that his boss offered because his ego wasn’t allowing him but fortunately, his friend ended up putting things into perspective & told him that he won’t be able to cope up with the financial pressures if he wouldn’t avail this opportunity so Zaid obviously got convinced & settled for it. I think this was the first time we saw a difference in Zaid & Fizza’s perspectives where she was excited to apply on her own & Zaid wasn’t thrilled with the idea. Till this moment we saw how both of them were on the same page & were working hard & most importantly together as a team to achieve their goals but looks like Zaid isn’t much into the idea now as he has so many other issues to deal with but Fizza is still adamant to make the most of the opportunity that life has presented to her while completely ignoring what Zaid wants at this stage. Will this be their undoing? We’ll see!

Overall, I enjoyed watching this episode. Even though the pace was comparatively slow but I liked how detailed everything was & how the director shed a light on everything. Even though they have shown daily struggles of regular people, but still in the middle of it all, the way their emotions come through & are elaborated is amazing & because of that I feel I can relate to all these characters. So far everyone; Imran Abbas, Sara Khan, Saleem Mairaj & Arij Fatima have done a commendable job. Samina Ahmed adds warmth in her scenes too like she completes the picture exactly how the elderlies of the families do. I am definitely liking this drama & can’t wait to see what more they have in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 02 Review – Another Interesting Episode!

Ohkay so, it was quite an interesting episode of Yaar e Bewafa. I must say what I am loving about this drama at the moment is how realistically & effortlessly everything has been portrayed. What I also enjoyed the most in this episode was the how there was this unpredictability in almost every other situation because I found myself thinking one thing & the very next moment, something exactly opposite happened, which actually kept things quite engaging. I must say the foundation of the story has been laid in such a convincing manner, that I am actually looking forward to the rest of the drama.

So, Fizza pushed Zaid to the limit & it showed how desperate times call for desperate measures. Zaid ended up mortgaging his house in order to please Fizza & fulfill her dream of a better & secure future. It is admirable how they have shown Zaid & Fizza as a couple that stands by each other & believes in transparency, like I don’t think we usually get to see such a marital relationship in our dramas where they show how a husband & a wife think on the same lines & their mental wavelength is in sync with one another. Yes, Fizza does seem a little, I repeat a little unreasonable to put pressures on her husband like that but then again, it is also a fact that due to her motivation, Zaid finds himself obliged to do everything for his family’s betterment. Also, it is worth noticing that Zaid hasn’t forgotten what Fizza left behind in order to get married to him, may be that’s why he feels a little more burdened to do better because he wants to give her everything that she had to sacrifice to be with him. The note at which their marriage started was very interesting, like right from the beginning, they showed that Zaid had nothing but love to offer to Fizza & he didn’t mind going to any extreme to please her, even if it meant taking someone else’s ring to gift it to his wife. I must say the way the writer has shown Zaid & Fizza’s relationship is quite amazing, like they both are unapologetically themselves in front of each other, which makes their relationship quite strong. At one point I thought that Zaid would keep house mortgage a secret from Fizza because he wouldn’t want her to feel concerned but he ended up telling her everything because he believes in transparency. Also, to my surprise I thought Fizza would feel a little guilty but she showed no such signs because right now, Zaid’s immigration is her main priority.

Also, even though there are a very few moments that Fizza & her mother in law share but it shows that Fizza has not only accepted Zaid but she has also accepted her mother wholeheartedly too. I enjoyed seeing their interactions & how Fizza kept on reminding Zaid that he should tell his mother everything because it was the right time. I don’t know why but I must say Fizza’s character is quite interesting, like you can not form a definite opinion about her because you understand her struggles but can also find her a little selfish. There has been an amazing balance that the writer has drawn in her character & I am definitely looking forward to see more of her.

I must say, even though I had a good laugh at the scene where Zaid felt he was being chased, I loved the quotient of reality that the entire scenario had. It showed how desperate Zaid was & how having so much of money on him was making him conscious. Zaid was so eager to get things done that he was unnecessarily adding a bit more pressure on himself. I must say, just when I thought things would go wrong now, everything turned out to be great, starting from Zaid getting his visa to getting his medical reports cleared. It does look like good times are rolling in for Zaid & Fizza at the moment but we’ll have to see how far things will remain the same. Also, I liked how they showed that after getting his visa, Zaid attained this confidence because it showed in his body language as if a huge burden was taken off his shoulders & he was more than ready to embrace the change that his life was going to offer.

Fortunately, where one family was rejoicing at the opportunity that life presented them, on the other side one family was falling in a deep pit continuously. Saleem lost his job & he had his justifications for it but he didn’t feel the need to answer his wife Amna as to why things went wrong. Also, Saleem was diagnosed with lung cancer which means even more trials and tribulations for Amna because things are only going to get worse for her henceforth.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting & engaging. I loved seeing Fizza & Zaid’s relationship, like for a change it feels nice to see a realistic portrayal of what marriage is all about, where a husband & wife struggle with each other, stand by each other’s side & then share some light-hearted moments too which turn into beautiful memories. Zaid surprising Fizza was another good aspect that was covered. Also, the way Zaid took such a huge risk & literally gambled everything to make Fizza’s dream come true went to show how much he loves her. I am actually interested to see who will turn out to be ‘yaar e bewafa’, like at this point I do have a feeling it will be Fizza may be when things will go wrong in their life, but the way everything has turned out to be quite unpredictable, I most certainly can’t be sure of anything & for that I am eager to see how the story is going to unravel. I must say everyone’s acting was effortless & spot on, I liked Imran Abbas & Arij Fatima’s chemistry as husband & wife, like they have made Zaid & Fizza’s relationship a treat to watch. I however do want to see more of Sara Khan because I am sure she is going to impress us all as well. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 01 Review – A Strong Start!

Ohkay so, the production of Wajahat Rauf, direction of Zeeshan Ali & the writing of Mohsin Ali, Yaar e Bewafa commenced last night & I must say it most certainly had a great start. From writing in terms of introduction to the characters & their scenarios, to direction, everything was spot on & what I actually enjoyed the most about the first episode of this drama was how the director kept things simple, minimal & realistic. While watching this episode I never once felt that I needed to know more about the characters because everything that was important was given out perfectly without making it too obvious that they were trying hard to let us know who the characters are & what they’re are going through. I liked the effortless approach of the director in the first episode & I hope that he has given this sort of treatment to the rest of the drama as well.

So, in the very first episode, the two couples & their stories got introduced. The first couple of Zaid (Imran Abbas) & Fizza (Arij Fatima) & the other one of Amna (Sara Khan) & Saleem (Saleem Mairaj). Zaid & Fizza’s family consists of Zaid’s mother (Samina Ahmed) & their son & they are trying hard to make the ends meet. At first, when you get an insight into Fizza’s character, you feel she is eager & desperate because being a mother, she wants to give her son a better life but as you get to know more about her, you find out about the baggage that she is carrying. Fizza is a school teacher & Zaid is an employee in a firm but as much as they both earn, it goes into the household expenditures. Fizza & Zaid also have a future plan that they both are working on, which is for Zaid to settle in Australia so that he can provide better lifestyle for his family. Fizza & Zaid both have the same vision & believe in achieving their goals together with each other’s support.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 01 Review - A Strong Start!

Things get tougher for both Zaid & Fizza when the immigration agent Rashid tells them to arrange a good amount of money to pay for a semester fee of the university so that Zaid can get his visa. Even though Zaid’s friend tries to warn him of the frauds that tend to happen in this industry, Zaid still blindly trusts his agent as he guarantees him the visa which puts Zaid’s heart to ease. Also, the fact that Fizza happens to be so adamant on this plan pushes Zaid to such an extreme that he doesn’t even consider the possibility of things going wrong.

Amna is married to Saleem, a factory worker who keeps on getting into trouble because of his temperament. Amna tries to support her husband & stand by him through thick & thin but it seems he doesn’t really appreciate what she does for his sake. Amna & Saleem also have a son. It looks like Amna has accepted her fate with a husband like Saleem & that is why even when her Aunt tries to knock some sense into her, Amna denies everything & assures her that she is happy with her husband because he loves her a lot. The fact that Saleem shuns the hassle that Amna goes through to arrange his bail highlights the fact that he really doesn’t care much for her but Amna tries to tweak with the reality in order to present a decent picture of her life in front of people.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 01 Review - A Strong Start!

I must say I actually enjoyed seeing Fizza’s character & how her background story was revealed, it’s like you can’t be sure of her & she can be a grey character which I liked. At first I thought she was doing everything & pushing her husband so much because she wanted a better & secure future for her son & rightly so because like she said, every single day through different channels she got a reminder of all those luxuries that were missing from her son’s life but as I got to know more about her, I understood where she was coming from & everything she wanted was not only because of her son. At first when Fizza compared her life with the richer, it did make me feel that she was a bit too desperate but just a single visit to her parent’s house changed my perspective of her. At this point, I am not forming an opinion whether Fizza’s fixation with ‘better & secure future’ is right but seeing how she comes from a wealthy family showed that she did have her reasons.

Yaar e Bewafa Episode 01 Review - A Strong Start!

Fizza left every single thing for Zaid’s sake & she settled for a very humble lifestyle because she loved him & just because she got desperate & visited her parents to ask for some financial help, she was reminded of all those claims that she made. Fizza’s father Kamal Wasif (Tahir Jatoi) a wealthy businessman, didn’t take a second to remind his daughter of what she said when she decided to get married to Zaid, obviously being in love did cloud Fizza’s judgment at that point & she actually thought that she’d be able to live happily ever after even in the most desperate situations but now when she has been married to Zaid for 5 years, she actually has realized that things aren’t as easy as she thought they’d be. The fact that Fizza comes from an affluent background & how she has settled for such a different lifestyle does justify her wants & needs because first off, she was used to all the luxuries & then comes the main reason, which is to prove her father wrong. All this while I thought Fizza was just someone who didn’t mind complaining but seeing how much effort she has put into this relationship & how much she has also sacrificed for this relationship, shows that she is keen on a better future as she wants to prove to her father that her decision was right. Fizza’s verdict saying ‘wo jeet gaye’ showed that she actually was striving so hard to make the most of this golden opportunity in order to tell her father that getting married to Zaid was not a wrong decision that she made & that Zaid was capable enough to provide a decent lifestyle for her.

Overall, the first episode of Yaar e Bewafa was really nice & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Zaid’s mother got to make a very little contribution in the episode but her presence was felt & I liked seeing her. The fact that Zaid wanted to keep her free from all the worries & seeing how decided to help Zaid only to see a smile on her son’s face was heart-warming. I do have a feeling that Zaid’s mother might be suffering from some sort of mental illness because the fact that she forgets things a bit too easily was highlighted subtly in this episode. I liked all the characters but I actually am interested to see more of Fizza because where she does come across as reasonable most of the times, she does give an irrational vibe at times too & I think that was balanced out by the writer beautifully because that is what made her character real. Imran Abbas, Sara Khan & Arij Fatima, all did a fantastic job because it looked like they all had such a great understanding of their characters that they actually owned them, like not even for a second I felt that one of them was struggling to fit into his or her character & may be that’s why I found everything quite effortless & realistic. Definitely impressed & definitely looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about the very first episode of Yaar e Bewafa.

Xulfi’s Official Statement About Tu Jhoom Plagiarism Controversy

0

Coke Studio season 14 opened with a huge hit Tu Jhoom, written by Adnan Dhool, produced by Xulfi and Abdullah Siddiqui and sung by legends Abida Parveen and Naseebo Lal. The song touched the hearts of millions all over the world.

Xulfi’s Official Statement About Tu Jhoom Plagiarism Controversy

However, it also got into a huge controversy when Nirmala Maghani, an upcoming singer from Umerkot accused Xulfi of stealing the melody. Nirmala alleged that she sent her melody to Xulfi in hopes of getting featured in the Coke Studio. She did not hear back from him but was in for a surprise when Tu Jhoom released. Here is the melody by Nirmala Maghani:

Yousaf Salahuddin also came forward in favour of Nirmala and said that he has heard the melody already and she is the original creator. He also said that he will help her take a legal route:

Xulfi’s Official Statement About Tu Jhoom Plagiarism ControversyXulfi’s Official Statement About Tu Jhoom Plagiarism Controversy

Xulfi has now come forward with his own take on the situation as well as proof that he had been working on the melody in May 2021 while Nirmala sent her melody in late June. He did not download the melody either and it can also be proved. This is what Xulfi had to say about the whole situation:

“As I shared with you earlier, I produce and collaborate in the spirit of inclusivity and my work with Coke Studio holds the same philosophy. My work is not borrowed or without credit, given that what I share with the world is work that relies on the very essence of partnership and collaboration. I hope this to be evident in my entire body of work produced in my career.

When we set out to make this season, our goal was to make Pakistani music heard worldwide. Our aim was to present our music, our young talent and our icons in a way that shows the world what we are capable of. What we stand for as a nation. Our aim was to create a cultural moment of glory for Pakistan. Coke Studio is Pakistan’s biggest cultural export and connector of hearts and souls; it has consistently brought people together for art, progression and positivity. And that power is very dear to me and one that I’ve absorbed heavily this season. I don’t take the fabric of Coke Studio lightly but rather wear it as a cloak of responsibility and pride.

And indeed, I look forward to continue working with our brilliant artists, from all over the country; for they truly are the present and future of Pakistani music!

The CS14 journey for you has just started. We hope to take you along in these moments of love and discovery and we hope you fall in love with these artists and these moments.

Love,

Xulfi

Xulfi has also shared a screen recording of his Whatsapp where he is seen discussing Tu Jhoom with co-producer Abdullah Siddiqui in May way before Nirmala sent her melody:

Xulfi Pays Tribute to Pink Floyd!

Ace musician Xulfi is in the industry for many years. His real name is Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, first he was a part of band EP but he later joined Call. He is also the producer of Nescafe Basement which is loved by the audience.

Xulfi Pays Tribute to Pink Floyd!

So Xulfi paid tribute to his favourite band “Pink Floyd” and musician David Gilmour. David Gilmour’s solo in Pink Floyds High Hopes from their album Division Bell touched his heart. He bought a lap steel guitar just for this tribute which he made memorable for himself and for all.

Xulfi’s Basement has also received a lot of love from around the world. John Newman expressed his appreciation for one of his songs, Love Me Again, which was covered on the show by an all-girls band. Roxette also shared Nescafe Basement’s cover of their song She’s Got The look.

Such achievement and recognition Xulfi. Much wows for you!

As soon as the song hit the screens, people were listening to it and falling in love not only in Pakistan but internationally as well. Tu Jhoom was trending all over social media as people felt the Coke Studio was back with a bang.

Xulfi Accused Of Copying Tu Jhoom's Music

Now, an upcoming singer from Umerkot, Nirmala Maghani has come forward  with accusation that Xulfi has copied her melody for the song. She stated that she sent her melody to Xulfi asshe wanted to be a part of then upcoming season of Coke Studio. Xulfi did not reply at that time. Nirmala had not expected a reply as she knew Xulfi was a successful musician and had a lot on his plate. She was later surprised to hear her melody when the song came out. Niramla Maghani is asking for a credit as per her claims that the melody is hers.

Yousaf Salahuddin is like a mentor to Nirmala and has also commented on the situation. He claimed that he has already heard the melody as Nirmala sent it to him and he would help her take legal action:
