Meera recently responded to the news of her being admitted to an American asylum due to some mental illness. Meera, who’s currently in the US on a personal tour, spoke to BBC Urdu and finally told her story.
When asked about the incident, Meera was audibly angry, and said, “There’s a lobby that’s working against me, they keep slandering my character to bring shame to my stardom.” When asked about what happened in her visit to the New York Brooklyn Hospital, she said she had gone to get vaccinated. She also promptly sent a video of herself getting vaccinated. The interviewer reported feeling that Meera had taken time to put a story together, and now was her time to get it across. However, when asked directly whether she was taken to a psychiatric hospital and was being deported from the United States, Meera said, ‘It’s really late here in America right now, and everyone in my house is sleeping. I can’t talk in detail right now.”
The conversation didn’t end there, and as she got more comfortable talking over Whatsapp, she claimed that she’s being “subjected to mental torture in US”. “I’ve been struggling with depression, and that’s why I went to the hospital. However once there, they mistook me for being crazy. They even confiscated my phone,” she alleged. “There’s a difference between being depressed and mentally unstable, which is important to understand, but they refused to recognise the difference here and admitted me.
“I was screaming the entire night, calling for help, and no one came. It was a really scary night for me,” she said. “The next day, my mom made an appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed for my discharge,” Meera explained. Continuing, she said it was Rasheed’s phone call that made her eventual discharge possible, who called on the Pakistani Embassy in the US to help her. “I was released on a request submitted by the Pakistani Embassy,” she said.
She also rejected reports of being deported from the US and said she’s travelling to Dubai of her own accord and will be shooting for a Pakistani TV show there.
Meera’s statements about Mahira Khan created a stir in the media few months ago. Meera tweeted some 8 months back that people should stop watching Mahira Khan’s plays because she did not know how to act. She also said that Mahira Khan replaced her in a major project by MD Productions which is why she was so upset with the actress.

“My passport, my cash and everything else that was in my bag has disappeared. I am a star and the Pakistani High Commission in the UAE should help me out,” Meera told The Express Tribune.
She also revealed that she had been visiting Dubai in search of work and is currently in between negotiations to secure her future in the showbiz industry.
Meera also has a contingency policy:
“I want to do something for the poor people of my country,” she stated. “Therefore, I have decided that if I do not find suitable work after my trip to Dubai, I will join the Punjab Assembly and contest the general elections to further the cause of the poor people of Pakistan”
According to Meera, she already has a few offers from a political party which she didn’t disclose:
I am a sensitive person and feel very strongly about those living their lives in extreme poverty. I already have my hospital project but now, I want to do something even better after winning the elections,” she shared. “Other than eradicating poverty, I want to further education and justice for women in Pakistan and that’s what my political slogan will be. I have already started preparing myself for the election campaign.”

After staying away from showbiz for sometime except for some controversies Meera is back in action. Few weeks back Meera told her viewers that she was going to do a few stage dramas and Meera is also seen hosting the show Hum Sub Umeed Se Hein. The latest news is even more shocking, Meera has joined BOL and that too in a very senior capacity.

Meera is a Pakistani actress who frequently makes headlines due to her scandals, controversies, and dramatic public appearances. The actor has once again grabbed the spotlight on the media after her mother’s recent interview with Geo TV in which she revealed why Meera landed into a big trouble due to her poor English.
In an interview with Murtaza Ali Shah for Geo TV, Meera’s mother Shafqat Zehra Bukhari revealed that she was deported from London by immigration authorities due to failing in English language. According to Meera’s mother, she misquoted her name and also mistakenly said “transaction” instead of “transit” due to which she was deported and banned from entering the UK for ten years—a restriction that has now expired.
Meera’s mother, Shafqat Zehra Bukhari further added that now they have requested the British High Commission to issue a visa to Meera. She said that at that time, they couldn’t understand Meera’s English and Meera also couldn’t fluently communicate. Here is the link to the video:

Meera’s father Sarwar Shah told Express Tribune: “Meera has had her nikkah with Captain Naveed already but there was this issue of Sheikh Atique that sprung up; he was claiming to be married to my daughter, But he has not been able to provide any solid proof of their alleged marriage and our family wants to move on from this. The time is right for Meera and Naveed. We will announce the dates next month and send invitations out to all our relatives and family members.”
Previously Meera told Sohail Warraich on his show that she will be tying the knot soon and if the reports are to believed Meera and family are keeping the things under wrap to keep the ceremony from bad eye. Both the families are planning for functions right now.
