Pakistani film star Meera is receiving threatening phone calls. She is demanding security from the government because her life is in danger.

Meera said in a video, “I am receiving threatening phone calls. I want the government of Pakistan to give me protection.” She further added, “My life is at risk.”

The actor said she wanted to promote her film Baaji, which is due to be released again in Pakistan, but was unable to travel to the country due to threats to her life.

Further, she did not reveal any details about the threatening calls.

Meera recently responded to the news of her being admitted to an American asylum due to some mental illness. Meera, who’s currently in the US on a personal tour, spoke to BBC Urdu and finally told her story.

When asked about the incident, Meera was audibly angry, and said, “There’s a lobby that’s working against me, they keep slandering my character to bring shame to my stardom.” When asked about what happened in her visit to the New York Brooklyn Hospital, she said she had gone to get vaccinated. She also promptly sent a video of herself getting vaccinated. The interviewer reported feeling that Meera had taken time to put a story together, and now was her time to get it across. However, when asked directly whether she was taken to a psychiatric hospital and was being deported from the United States, Meera said, ‘It’s really late here in America right now, and everyone in my house is sleeping. I can’t talk in detail right now.”

The conversation didn’t end there, and as she got more comfortable talking over Whatsapp, she claimed that she’s being “subjected to mental torture in US”. “I’ve been struggling with depression, and that’s why I went to the hospital. However once there, they mistook me for being crazy. They even confiscated my phone,” she alleged. “There’s a difference between being depressed and mentally unstable, which is important to understand, but they refused to recognise the difference here and admitted me.

“I was screaming the entire night, calling for help, and no one came. It was a really scary night for me,” she said. “The next day, my mom made an appeal to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed for my discharge,” Meera explained. Continuing, she said it was Rasheed’s phone call that made her eventual discharge possible, who called on the Pakistani Embassy in the US to help her. “I was released on a request submitted by the Pakistani Embassy,” she said.

She also rejected reports of being deported from the US and said she’s travelling to Dubai of her own accord and will be shooting for a Pakistani TV show there.

Meera’s statements about Mahira Khan created a stir in the media few months ago. Meera tweeted some 8 months back that people should stop watching Mahira Khan’s plays because she did not know how to act. She also said that Mahira Khan replaced her in a major project by MD Productions which is why she was so upset with the actress.

Meera was also reported as saying that SRK offered a film to her but because of Mahira Khan she also lost that opportunity. She also had a suggestion for Mahira. She said,

Film star Meera is in a bit of a situation. The actor has reportedly lost her bag and passport while travelling and does not know where to go for help.
The bag contained all of Meera’s belongings, including her money.
“My passport, my cash and everything else that was in my bag has disappeared. I am a star and the Pakistani High Commission in the UAE should help me out,” Meera told The Express Tribune.
She also revealed that she had been visiting Dubai in search of work and is currently in between negotiations to secure her future in the showbiz industry.

And now, here’s a good news for all those who missed Baaji in cinemas while it screened in Pakistan.

Following a huge public demand, Baaji the film is making a comeback in cinemas across the country from the 6th of December 2019.

Baaji the film, stars Meera as Shameera, a fading Lollywood star, who finds a companion and manager in a beautician Neha (Amna Ilyas). With a number of underlying plots highlighting the dark aspects of the film industry in Pakistan, Baaji, the film was received well on the cinemas and by the public.

Meera is probably one of the few actresses that nearly everyone in Pakistan, who has even little knowledge of showbiz, knows. She’s been known to make controversial statements, be part of controversies or just give more heat to a controversy every now and then.

These days, the political situation of our country is pretty tense and of’course Meera Jee had to not only choose a side between PML-N and PTI but also to give advice to the leader of PTI.She has advised Imran Khan to allow PML-N to complete its tenure and wait for next elections as believes PTI will form the next government.Patience Khan Sahab!

As long as PML-N will remain in power , they will largely be exposed to nation. Therefore, Imran Khan should wait for next election rather than doing some thing to bring to end PML-N government.

She further claimed that the people of Pakistan support Imran Khan and PTI and so the next government will be PTI-led government. Not only PTI but the entire nation is united against corruption, she added.

Actress Meera is an integral part of Lollywood. She made her movie debut in 1995 but earned nationwide critical acclaim in 1999 for her lead performance in Khilona. She was praised by the audience and won her first Nigar Award.

Pakistani film star Meera needs to introduction. Not only has Meera to her credit some of the hit Pakistani films of her time but she has also forayed into Bollywood and worked alongside actors including Ashmit Patel and Lucky Ali in more than 6 films. Although Meera’s career in Bollywood was short lived, the actress continues to appear in films on this side of the border, her most recent being the critically acclaimed Baaji.

According to news, Meera was recently hospitalized in Dubai, where she underwent a major surgery. Meera was admitted to the American Hospital in Dubai, after complaining of severe abdominal pain and had to undergo various tests and procedures, after which major surgery was prescribed.

As per Meera’s husband, Captain Naveed, “Meera was quite unwell. She has undergone a major surgery . The surgery has been completed and she in in recovery.”

Adding further without revealing the nature of Meera’s medical ailment and the operation she underwent, Captain stated, “Meera will be kept in the hospital for four or five more days.”

According to sources, Meera had complained of consistent abdominal pain and burning sensations on her skin.

The ‘Baaji’ actor was hospitalized on 16th of September when she revealed to her fans that she was under examination and requested prayers for her recover.
