The Pakistani film industry was once flourishing due to its back-to-back hit films. Successful films like “Na Maloom Afraad,” “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani,” “Karachi Se Lahore,” “Actor In Law,” “Punjab Nahi Jaungi,” and “Load Wedding” raised audience expectations from filmmakers. However, soon after COVID-19 hit, the film business in Pakistan declined, and filmmakers stopped creating new content due to the dwindling audience. Filmmakers struggled to produce quality films, with only a few exceptions such as “Quaid E Azam Zindabad” and “The Legend Of Maula Jatt. Mehwish Hayat and Ahsan Khan are starring together in the drama Dayan which is known for its dramatic and cinematic feel. The show has marked Mehwish’s comeback to the industry and people are following the revenge story. There has been a lot of talk regarding overuse of OST and flashbacks, the leading star looking the same in two roles despite surgery and Zawar Shah’s tharak on every other woman.
Mehwish Hayat spoke about why Nihal was not recognized by anyone after her change to Misha. Mehwish Hayat was speaking to Maliha Rehman, she laughed at the superpowers of Nihal and explained that they took creative liberty. Moreover, she changed her styling, clothes and hair. She also added that Zawar’s family killed Nihal and buried her. They can never think that she could still be alive.
This is what Mehwish Hayat had to say:
Ahsan Khan also shed light on Zawar Shah’s tharak. The actor said that not all men are the same but the majority are like that. Zawar Shah is a typical man. He hilariously added that Zawar is so lucky. First he had Shabab, then he found Nihal and now he is falling for Misha. He also said this is all Shabab’s fault who brought Nihal into his life.
Mehwish Hayat has a class of her own. She is undoubtedly the most iconic Pakistani actress right now, who was awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (the highest civilian award) for her contribution to showbiz. Mehwish Hayat has recently focused more on acting in films. She has not worked in dramas for four years now. She accepts the fact that the Pakistani drama industry has played a major role in giving her the popularity and appreciation she enjoys today. Although Mehwish Hayat could easily leave the drama industry and do films alone since she is considered the most sought-after film actress in Pakistan, she still wants to work in dramas.
Mehwish Hayat started her showbiz career at a really young age. Mehwish revealed this fact when she posted a picture of her herself when she was 6 years old clad in a beautiful Rajasthani dress. Mehwish Hayat revealed that this was her first tv commercial and she felt shy and awkward. This was when Mehwish Hayat made her first appearance as a child star. She has definitely come a long way from being an awkward and shy little girl. Mehwish Hayat, however, was always hard-working, not afraid of retakes to get the perfect shot even as a child star.
The most unforgettable experience for her came when she was 13 years old. That was the first time that her face was on the biggest billboard in Karachi, this was a big moment for her. At night she went with her family to see that billboard, all the lights were off and the guard lit them on especially for them so that they could see the billboard. Mehwish Hayat says that this was a really special moment for her, one that gives her goosebumps even now.
Mehwish Hayat has lately been really selective when choosing the projects that she works in. The reason for this is that she wants to work only in quality projects. Many of the dramas being made nowadays do not have quality content according to her. However, she does acknowledge that the fame her film Punjab Nahi Jaungi was partially because of the success of her drama Dillagi.
Apart from her acting ventures which are always the centre of attention, Mehwish Hayat is also known for taking a stand on different issues. She has often talked about why she refuses to endorse fairness creams and very often she has criticized some really high profile artists from across the border. She believes that she is in a position where her voice is heard therefore she wants to use this voice for the right causes. She even shared her disappointment with someone as iconic as Amitabh Bachan when he acted in a film which hurt the sensibilities of Pakistanis. Mehwish Hayat is a really responsible actor and expects the same kind of responsible behavior from others.
Many people might not know the fact that Mehwish Hayat was offered two Bollywood films. In one of the films, she wanted the producers to make some changes in one scene because it was too intimate for her liking. Since they refused to do so, Mehwish refused to work in the film. Mehwish Hayat believes that even though India wants Pakistani actors to work in their films, they do not give Pakistani actors the respect and position they deserve.

A social media user wrote, “Aima should not have died in the drama, and Abdul Rehman should have received his punishment.” Another fan commented, “Aima’s death was Abdul Rehman’s real punishment.” A viewer remarked, “It was a bad ending. They shouldn’t have killed Aima, as it was unfair to Abdullah, who deserved the love of both parents.” A fan stated, “What is this? Why did they show only crying at the end?” Another viewer noted, “The music was so overpowering that we couldn’t properly hear the dialogues.” Meanwhile, fans from Bangladesh praised Neelam Muneer for her beauty and acting skills. What in the world have I just watched? Was this for real? Man I feel betrayed! These were the statements that slipped out of my tongue, as I exchanged fretful glances with my little sister next instant, the torture of ‘Mehrunissa V lub you’ ended!
Now that I have stated my sentiments regarding the trailer, even though I was procrastinating to write on this very subject or to be more exact, tried very hard to nullify these feelings and move on with my work as always yet I decided to write on it at least so that, next time the makers would consider these thoughts . Hence, let’s get into the facts which made me write this article.
The film which promised to be filled with social messages had its trailer released a week or two back, considering the fact that one should always be a supporter of Pakistani products in the name of being a Pakistani, and at least wait for the film to be released yet, I rolled my eyes in dismay and repeated the same question I have been repeating in my head since our beloved film industry revolutionized, along with a raised eyebrow, the cursed moment I came across the trailer of this so called ‘Pakistani film.’ i.e. WHY ARE THEY INSPIRED SO MUCH BY BOLLYWOOD??
Honestly, I’m not against Bollywood, however, it’s quite mandatory now to realize the line that separates us with it, and that it’s high time now to accept these truths. Heroine clad up in gaudy Saree, that, too with those cheap one liner in the background, and, then to worsen the situations those dance moves along with that trashy romance, gives the impression of nothing but bollywood which for all the right reason is a bit spooky to say the least. Our ideology, thoughts and the way we perceive everything is quite different from them! Indians and we can never be same merely for the limitations prescribed to us by the religion we follow. Had we been same, this separation wouldn’t even have taken place in the first place. And now that we have separated through the long and hard struggles of our forefathers it’s quite pertinent now to at least be respectable of the choices those people made years ago, by being true to our roots while creating movies for the big screen.
Over crowded with cheapness written all over it, the film doesn’t seem to have any purpose at all, and since they have been promoting it to be a romantic comedy I so wish the writer now takes a few classes from Mustafa Afridi, (although I have always been against comparing the writers with one other, but, they so pushed the wrong buttons and brought me to the limits where I actually had to!) to give their viewers decent humor filled films.
I’ve not been able to grasp the thoughts process they have whilst working on these films, as if, this is something they would want to spend their bucks earned by burning their midnight oils, had they been in our shoes, their taste quite seem questionable! When watching the trailer of any film, it’s either the acting, dialogues or the story that entice, rest is all secondary. However, this time around everything in it seemed cheap, I, repeat ‘CHEAP!’ And the fact that I supposedly don’t live in an oblivion and absolutely am aware of the requirement of some entertainment to entice the viewer, still it doesn’t give them any right to come up with films that promote ‘ kissing’ or ‘trying to kiss’ or being physical as something very normal on the big screens in the territories of Islamic republic of Pakistan or does it? And if it does then I wonder where are we actually heading towards in the name of liberalism or modernism!
Nevertheless, I do understand that they put in quite a lot of efforts (as they claim) to bring with them some entertainment for us, but what for? For promoting vulgarity? For making the heroine who seemingly belong to a respectable family dance in the snow all clad up in saree as shiver moves down her spine? And if all these were your motives Congratulations! You achieved them!
I so hope the next time they come up with anything new, they consider these facts and bother to ameliorate such shortcomings, as I know for a fact that we Pakistani as a nation (although equipped with alot of negativity) always stand up for the right and are enough respectable to appreciate our girls not throwing off their clothes in the name of ‘art!’ and trust my words when I write this, you guys would gain more respect if you’d stick with limitations and the norms of society and wouldn’t budge changing them!
May we get to see films based on our culture!.
P.s we need to understand there resides a thin line in between being modern and vulgar, and once it’s shattered things automatically starts to crumple and that every nation has some sort of precedents set for their people that separates them with other nations of the world. We belonging to the Islamic State, have some limitations, too, and can’t be in our wildest dreams as modern as rest of the world, hence be proud of your culture, and stick to your roots or else the only thing that’d be crushed would be ourselves.
Pakistani filmmakers seem to be on a roll these days by bringing to us new movies every season. And it is now fair to say that our film industry has revived. Adding to the list of much awaited films of the year, is none other than Yasir Nawaz’s Mehrunisa We Lub You.
Yasir Nawaz who previously made blockbuster records with Wrong No has definitely gotten our expectations high.
Mehrunisa We Lub You is an upcoming romantic comedy starring Danish Taimoor and Sana Javed in lead roles. The movie is set to release on Eid Ul Fitr this year.
And as we impatiently wait for the movie and make do with the behind the set photos, we have something to hold on to until the movie comes out. A very gorgeous poster featuring the on screen couple has been released which instantly made us go aww!
The poster highlights the striking chemistry between the gorgeous duo and we wonder if they can spark so much chemistry in just a picture, they’ll completely rock and own the screen!
Amidst a number of films that are coming out on Eid-ul-Fitr this year is Yasir Nawaz’s upcoming romantic drama Mehrunisa V Lub U that stars Danish Taimoor and debutante Sana Javed in lead roles.
Yasir Nawaz promised a romantic comedy film but the trailer shows romance, drama and a social message. However, unlike the teaser, the trailer gives an insight of the main plot which highlights a social issue and plays on the theme of love with some action, drama and unpleasant jokes. All in all, the trailer fails to entice!
Mehrunnisa V Lub U is slated to release on Eidul Fitr this year.
Urdu 1 pictures are all set to bring yet another blockbuster, ‘Mehrunisa V Lub U’ featuring Danish Taimoor and debutante Sana Javed. Mehrunisa V Lub U has just dropped its teaser trailer and it is packed with loads of embraces, romance with action and drama.
From Sarso k Kheth (mustard fields), majestic rivers to Danish Taimoor and Sana Javaid’s striking chemistry; the teaser is oozing with the essence of a masala film.
Directed by Yasir Nawaz, and produced under the banner of YNH films, Mehrunisa V Lub U will hit cinemas on Eid ul Fitr this year.
Mehrunisa V Lub U has created quite a stir over the past few months and is definitely one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The first song from the film has been released and it’s penned by the iconic Bollywood writer Gulzar whilst Sukhwinder Singh has lent his vocals to the tune.
The melody is soothing to the ears with its high and low-key tunes and beautiful lyrics. The track takes you on a smooth journey of love. With a hummable tune and star presence of the leads, Tu Hi Tu shows some sizzling chemistry between Danish Taimoor and Sana Javed.
The second song from upcoming movie ‘Mehrunisa V Lub U’ is out! And, here is the video of Badla featuring Danish Taimor.
The video shows people on a cleaning spree. Badla has been penned by the Indian poet and lyricist, Gulzar and has been sung by Indian singer Sukhwinder Singh, who also sang the first official song of Mehrunisa V Lub U.
Mehrunisa V lub U is all set to release this Eid ul fitar and the Cinemas are jam-packed with people and stars already. Yasir Nawaz is confident that the movie will be a super hit as it contains comedy and romance and all that is required for any movie to succeed. Danish Taimor invited everyone to watch the movie in Cinemas with the guarantee that no one will go disappointed.
Sana Javed, the gorgeous actress asked her fans to join her on Eid and enjoy the movie to the fullest. Talking to media in Rawalpindi , all the stars are confident about the fact that Mehrunisa V lub U will be a massive success.
Mehrunissa V Lub U is a romantic comedy and the funniest thing about it is how a simple message (a little too simple!) has been conveyed in the most complex and even irrational manner, it is full of cringe worthy jokes, it is also crowded with characters which you want to leave behind the second you leave the cinema and the biggest drawback of this film is that the producers have banked heavily on the good looks of the leads and invested very little in the story or the characterization. The film is set primarily in Karachi and unlike Balu Mahi which was like a tribute to the city it was filmed in, this one shows everything from family politics to the politics in the province and completely misses its mark in both the departments.
The hero of the film Ali (Danish Taimoor) is a typical pappu bacha (gora chita always dressed to impress) who returned from China (because UK and US is just too typical) after what it seemed like a complete training in self-defense. His special expertise include carrying his heroine around even if sometimes it can be too much of a burden on his nazuk legs and hugging her every chance he gets! Ali is also a wannabe Mr. Fixit who alongwith all the other people in his mohalla decide to clean their surroundings so that his wife Mehrunisa can get pregnant! The character itself has less depth than the heroes of 3 Bahadur and honestly speaking you feel for Danish Taimoor while watching the film. Danish Taimoor is a brilliant actor but only when he gets challenging roles, every time the producers bank on his looks more than his acting skills, he complete fails! He looks great in the film but his acting is shaky because the character he is playing has absolutely no room for performance.
The heroine Mehrunisa is also one-of-a-kind, she too is dressed to impressed in the film, so much so that even when her hero and all the other characters are draped in shawls and wear heavy sweaters, she has to carry silks and chiffons because heroines are not supposed to feel cold. Also, she is a little too simple, more like a dimwit who just like her hero loves to hug every chance she gets! Although Mehrunisa’s character sounds like the primary character in the story due to the title of the film but the fact is that Sana Javed has no more than ten dialogues in the film. The character itself is the worst objectification of women I have seen in a Pakistani films in recent times. It clearly says that the sole purpose of women is to look pretty and bear children! Mehrunisa has to be one of the most lifeless heroines we have seen in Pakistani films in recent times.
The rest of the characters in the film are just as shoddy as the leading pair. Nayyar Ejaz is a powerful performer who has done complete justice to his role but his character is a mix of funny and evil which comes across as strange. Also, I am tired of watching him being typecast, it would be nice to see him playing a positive character for a change. The cinematography of the film is strictly okay, the director Yasir Nawaz failed to do justice to the beauty of Nathia Gali. The editing of the film is unimpressive as well. The songs have been shot in a very cheesy manner which makes you uncomfortable especially because recently we have seen some brilliant Pakistani films which did not contain so much unnecessary physical contact between the leads but had a lot going for them. Amna Illyas’ item song’s timing and inclusion in the film is also another aspect which makes you wonder what was going through the director’s mind when he not only included this item number but also thanked Amna Illyas especially in the credits!
Mehrunnisa V Lub U has a weak script and direction. The sense of humor throughout the film is sickening. The editing of the songs and the film is unimpressive, there are times when the story lacks flow. Although the film has a lot of songs but not a single one is worth praising. Danish Taimoor and Sana Javed’s good looks alone are not enough to save the day especially because their characters have absolutely no room for performance. It is a typical masala film meant for people who enjoy dirty jokes and pointless cheap romantic scenes. Will the writer please stand up!
