Recently, Dr. Bahu director Mehreen Jabbar appeared on Rise & Shine, hosted by Nadia Khan and Zohaib Hassan. During the show, she responded to Dr. Younis Butt’s criticism of Dr. Bahu.
Responding to the hosts’ question about Dr. Younis Butt’s remarks—where he said Kubra Khan’s crying scenes felt repetitive, the drama had been unnecessarily stretched, and Mehreen Jabbar’s direction made a fast-paced story feel sluggish—Mehreen Jabbar said, “I won’t say anything to this criticism. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and it is not my personality to comment on any such opinion. I have no interest in reacting to such criticism. Last year, six leading filmmakers from both Pakistan and India worked together to celebrate art beyond the borders. 12 short films were made with the intention to be a part of India’s Film festival circuit under Zee Network’s Zeal For Unity project. One of them was Mehreen Jabbar’s ‘Lala Begum’ featuring Marina Khan, Sonya Rehman Qureshi and Humayun Saeed in pivotal roles.

Directed and produced by Mehreen, Lala Begum was part of the Zeal for Unity project and was an attempt to bridge the divide between the two countries. Pakistani filmmakers who were a part of this project were Sabiha Sumar, Khalid Ahmed, Meenu-Farjad, Shahbaz Sumar, Siraj Ul Haq and Mehreen Jabbar.
Lala Begum is yet to release in Pakistan and was scheduled to screen at I am Karachi Festival but was delayed due to lack of security. While Pakistan hasn’t seen Lala Begum yet, the film is all set to release at an international film festival in Texas, U.S.A, it’s surely a proud moment for Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Famous director Mehreen Jabbar is beginning to work on her new film as director named Doobara Phirr Se (دوبارہ پھر سے) to be shot in New York City. It is the second film by Mehreen Jabbar after a gap of eight years when she directed her first film named Ramchand Pakistani.
Mehreen confirmed the news through a tweet.
Doobara Phirr Se stars Adeel Husain, Hareem Farooq, Sanam Saeed, Tooba Siddiqui, Ali Kazmi, Atiqa Odho, Shaz Khan, and child actor Moosa, and has been penned by Bilal Sami.
The story will revolve around love, friendships and growing up. Mehreen is known for bringing present-day issues to light through her films, and her second film will be no different.
Dr. Bahu is an upcoming ARY Digital prime-time drama series featuring Kubra Khan, Adeel Hussain, Shuja Asad, Saba Hamid, Muhammad Ahmed, Marina Khan, Shahzad Nawaz, Hajra Yamin, and others. The show is produced by Humayun Saeed and written by Sanam Zaryab. It is directed by Mehreen Jabbar, known for Jackson Heights, Daam, and Doraha. Dr. Bahu marks Mehreen Jabbar’s long-awaited comeback to Pakistani television after seven years.
The shooting of Dr. Bahu has recently been wrapped up with its massive ensemble cast. The lead role of Dr. Bahu is played by Kubra Khan. Mehreen Jabbar had earlier shared glimpses from the first spell of the drama, and she has now informed fans that the cameras are finally packed up and the drama will be releasing soon. Humayun Saeed also visited the set on the final day and posed for pictures. Mehreen Jabbar shared a heartfelt note, thanking Nadeem Baig for convincing her to make a comeback to television.
