The valima ceremony of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s grandson Junaid Safdar and granddaughter-in-law Ayesha Saif-ur-Rehman will be held in Lahore on December 17. Junaid Safdar is the son of PML-N vice-President Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar.

Junaid and Ayesha tied the knot in a private ceremony held in London in August which the former’s mother, Maryam Nawaz, couldn’t attend since her name is on the Exit Control List (ECL) owing to multiple cases of graft and money laundering against her. According to the sources the ceremony is expected to be attended by close friends and members of the Sharif family. Nawaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar, who is also in London, are expected to attend the event via video link.

The Sharif family has planned to turn the wedding into a political meeting, Channel 24 reported. Lately, he appeared in The Talk Talk Show. In the show, he gave his two cents on Aruba’s win. Talking about it, he said, “First of all, Aruba played really well, she survived for 50 days, I don’t know if the voting and the process was fair because we didn’t see the votes but, yes, I was surprised at the result and I was also told that my votes dropped down during my captaincy”.

Talking about Aruba Mirza’s questionable win, he said, “she had votes but still her win is questionable to me, to all of the contestants too, I was told during the last moments that I am the winner, every one told me this including Ali Sikander and Michelle Mumtaz, even, last year’s contestants told me the same, when I came out and met everyone, they all said to me that I am the winner”.
