The winter season means many wedding events in Pakistan. We get to see so many people getting hitched and everyone is busy attending wedding functions. The very star-studded wedding of Saba Faisal’s son Arslan Faisal recently took place. Saba looked ethereal and her whole family had a great time at the wedding event. The outgoing year 2022 was a very hard one on Pakistan. 14th February marks Valentine’s Day around the world; a day when everyone in the world celebrates love, especially with their significant others, their partners.

However, offering an alternative, leading online publication, Something Haute, questioned Pakistani celebrities about celebrating Valentine’s Day with someone other than their partners and our celebrities gave a variety of answers.

Ayesha Omar said she would love to spend her Valentine’s Day with her mother and close friends, thanking them for their unconditional support.

Shaniera Akram shared that it had to be Wasim Akram for her because the couple has usually been apart on Valentine’s Day ever since their marriage. Shaniera also added that if there would be anyone else than Wasim, it would be her best friend from Australia, Brooke.

For Emaad Irfani, it has to be his son Zaviyar, about whom Emaad says he can understand his silence as well.

Mansha Pasha would love to hang out with her sister Hannah on Valentine’s Day and dress up in pink while they roam around for lunch and watch a movie together.

Ahsan Khan added that he would love to spend his Valentine’s Day with his parents as he considers them his real blessings.

Pakistan is home and home is where Eid is. Pretty straightforward.. but throw in work commitments, appearances, promotions and shoots, and you cannot always be home for eid. Such is celebrity life but that doesn’t mean they don’t miss their families and hometowns. So they have spoked to HIP online magazine  about how it feels on Eid when they are away from Pakistan.

Bilal Ashraf misses going to Eid prayers with his father the most

Last year, he was not with his loved ones to share the joys of Eid. This is how he explains the experience,

I was actually promoting Janaan. I think I was either in Dubai or London and even though it was amazing internationally representing our cinema, Eid was just not complete,” I think spending quality time with one’s friends and family and above all, offering the Eid prayers with my father early morning is what made me feel so alone. I think all of this is simply irreplaceable.”

Sanam Saeed believes you can enjoy Eid anywhere with the right ingredients 

“Work is work and Eid is Eid. And I feel if there’s sheer khorma, new clothes and Eid Mubaraks (wishes), it makes no difference,” the actress tells HIP, who celebrated Eid up-north two years ago, shooting for Diyar-e-Dil. “When you’re not at home, your work-family becomes your family and I think it isn’t too bad celebrating Eid with people who care for you.”

Madiha Imam thinks everyone goes out of their way to please you on Eid when you are working away

“Last year only, I was in India shooting for my film, Dear Maya in India. It was slightly off since I wasn’t with my family and actually working, but my team was kind enough to make me feel at home and brought a cake for my on the sets,” Imam revealed. “And once I was actually shooting in Thailand on Eid as well, so I have had such experiences and I can honestly say that it doesn’t feel like Eid at all.”

Junaid Khan does not think anything can ever compensate not being with family on Eid 

“I try my best to celebrate Eid in Lahore with my family. But if I am away for some reason, everything feels really empty,” Junaid shares. “I think the whole point of Eid is to be with one’s loved ones and share the festivities with them. You really miss out on all these personal, family rituals.”

Mohsin Abbas Haider is thankful that now he can afford to go home whether it’s Eid or not 

“Well I try to avoid that now, but when I was struggling, I’d spend my entire Eid in my room in Karachi. I wouldn’t have enough money to buy myself a ticket to Faisalabad where my family would be,” Haider opened up about his inspiring journey. “It was really upsetting for the most obvious of reasons, but later when I would have enjoy money to travel, I would often surprise my family. The joy I saw in my mother and sisters’ eyes is simply priceless.”

Eid Milad-Un-Nabi, also known as Mawlid and Eid-e-Milad is the day dedicated to the teachings of Prophet Mohammad and is celebrated across the country. The occasion is believed to be the birthday of the prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H).

The prophet was born on the twelfth day of Rabee-ul-Awwal (third month of the Islamic lunar calendar) in Mecca in 570 CE, and this day is marked as a national holiday in many countries with Muslim population. Humayun Saeed also prayed for the recovery of Rubina Ashraf.

He was also part of the Australia team that won the World Cup in 1987, beating England in a thrilling final. In his 164 one-day internationals, Jones averaged 44.61. He is perhaps best remembered for his innings of 210 in the tied match between Australia and India in 1986.

Afterwards, as a result of his exertions at the crease, he was admitted to hospital. Jones also had spells in county cricket with Derbyshire and Durham, and, after retiring from playing, had further careers as a coach and broadcaster.

At a time when Anwar Maqsood’s Aangan Tehra is running at the Arts Council Auditorium for nearly a month now and plans to continue running for a couple of months, not many people would risk a theatrical venture to compete with the packed house of Aangan Tehra. But Lush’s Usama Qazi and Shahzad Qureshi were ready to take such a risk. They launched an original theatre play, 0092, which is about the pre-poll situation in Pakistan. It seems to be quite an appropriate time to come out with the play since we are expecting to have elections in the near future.

“This is the best time to stage 0092 because we want to wake-up our masses before the elections this year,” says Usama Qazi, the producer of the play. “As far as other plays are concerned, I believe that Karachi is so massive that if we have around 10 to 12 plays running at the same time in the city, people will come to watch all of those.”
Well, it seems like this play grabbed the attention of a lot of celebrities as a lot of them went to see this play. Stars like Sanam Baloch, Hina Bayat, Danish Nawaz, Madiha Iftikaar, Munawar Saeed and many others were seen at the play. Here are pictures of a few celebrities seen at the play:

 

   

Pakistani industry has seen many cases where celebrities left the industry due to religion. Many stars also took that path and left dramas or music whatever they did for their careers. Late Junaid Jamshed is the biggest example who left music because of Islam. We also saw actors and actresses like Sara Chaudhary, Sanam Chaudhary and Noor Bukari taking this decision. Hamza Ali Abbasi distanced himself from dramas because of religion but he did not leave the industry and said that he will only do projects which did not clash with his beliefs. Feroze Khan also took this decision before reneging on it. The latest artist to join this list is singer Abdullah Qureshi.

Abdullah gave a statement to inform his fans of his decision as many were asking why he was absent.

Abdullah said that he will not be performing in concerts or doing advertisements but he will be available for awareness campaign on social media or any work that fall within the confines of religion.

Singer Natasha Baig did not agree with Abdullah’s comments and shared her take on his statement. She said that if people want to leave the industry it is their prerogative but they should not make others look like devils as music is divine:

The biggest award show of the year is just around the corner, and we can’t contain our excitement. While we all thought that Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt would be hosting the Lux Style Awards 2017, all our dreams shattered as OKB announced that he is penning the script only. So, Pakistani diva Mahira Khan is all set to host the show, and this will be Mahira’s second time hosting a major award show.

Lux Style Awards 2017 is surely going to be bigger and better with lots of celebrities onboard. Our very own Rockstar Atif Aslam has been roped in for the mega award show.

Shoaib Mansoor is back with Verna and this time he has focused to raise the issue of rape. Rape is not something our society is foreign to. Every day we hear stories on news channels that her heart wrenching and shake every woman out there to the core. Verna was meant to be released on 17th November but the film has not gotten clearance from censor board yet. Apparently, censor board was not happy with the rapist shown as a politician’s son, as well as the rape scenes in the movie, were considered inappropriate for Pakistani audiences.

25th December is a very special day for all Pakistanis because on this day Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the father of the nation came to this world. He did something which was very close to impossible. He won praises from all parts of the globe for achieving something which no other leader could have achieved. Stanley Wolpert who was a famous American author and is considered one of the best authorities on the history of the subcontinent and India and Pakistan wrote a book on Quaid-e-Azam titled “Jinnah Of Pakistan” in which he summed up what Quaid-eAzam achieved in these few lines,

“Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation-state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three.”

Veteran Actor Qazi Wajid Passed Away!

Showbiz fraternity came together to mourn the loss of a legendary TV actor. Syed Noor, Mahira Khan, Armeena Khan, Javed Sheikh, Faysal Qureshi and many others remembered Wajid as a powerhouse of an actor and a talent institute on his own.

Talking to APP, veteran actor-director, Noor called Wajid an educational institute for new artists. He went on to add that the actor’s death deprived artists of a great teacher. Sheikh, on the other hand, called Wajid an artist who was true to his characters.

Last year, on this day, Pakistan saw one of the biggest funerals in Karachi. It was due to the sad demise of Junaid Jamshed, once a pop icon and later a preacher who lost his life along with all other passengers as their plane crashed near Hawailian. This accident shook the whole country but life went on. Today as the year ends, people from all walks of life remember him. Celebrities also missed him and paid tributes to Junaid Jamshed as he had touched every life to some extent.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain will always remain one of the most famous hosts to grace the Pakistani television. He was a politician, host and a social worker. He is known to pick up the now famous Ramadan transmissions and worked with nearly all the major channels in his career. He had a life full of stories and remained one of the most covered celebrities in the country until he took his last breath.

His family has fought for him after he left this mortal world and his ex-wife Syeda Bushra Iqbal and children Ahmed and Dua have kept his memories alive. One year has gone by since Aamir Liaquat Hussain left this world and Syeda Bushra Iqbal shared a video from all his ex-colleagues as they shared their memories of him.

Pakistan is 75 years old now and throughout the history the country has gone through a lot of phases an changes. One thing however, that has remained consistent throughout is the unpredictability of Pakistan Cricket Team.
