Pakistan and India are both going through a hard time as far as violence against women and children is concerned. Pakistan was reeling with brutal murder of 20 year old Sania Zehra and the recent case of a 5 year old getting raped in a government hospital when the case of an Indian doctor in Kolkatta rocked the world. The drama has been directed by Fajr Raza. Parisa Siddiqui has written the story of the drama serial Burns Road Kay Romeo Juliet. The cast of the drama includes Shabbir Jan, Khaled Anam, Hamza Sohail, Iqra Aziz, Shaheera Jaleel, Zainab Qayyum and others. The story of the drama revolves around two lovers who chose to marry against the will of their families. Peabody awards are considered very prestigious. According to the Peabody website “Every year, over a thousand submissions—including TV shows, radio programs, and various types of web content—are reviewed first by 90 faculty, staff, and students judges at the University of Georgia. Their committees make recommendations to the Peabody Board who are responsible for selecting the final winners”.

This year Burka Avenger was amongst the very few series which bagged this award. Haroon Rashid, the man behind the show received the award on behalf of the Unicorn Black team.

Burka Avenger has been ruling Pakistani cinema since its release as one of the best animated Urdu movies. Now it has got another  feather in its cap. The series was awarded the Art & Design Award at the 3rd edition of the National Innovation Awards, 2017 in Karachi.

This has been a great achievement as the series has also won the prestigious Peabody Award as well. Speaking of this new recognition, the director Haroon said,  “It is an incredible honor to receive this award and it is a great effort by the Pakistan Innovation Foundation to encourage innovation in the country. Burka Avenger is a 100% made Pakistani product and it only became possible due to the hard work of the incredible team at Unicorn Black.”
