Faisal Qureshi is one of the most versatile actors of our country. He has marvelous acting skills that make him stand high among the crowd of many. Over the years, Faisal has carved a niche for himself with his stunning performances in many super-hit drama serials. From his rustic role in Boota from Toba Tek Singh to his critically acclaimed character of Ayaz in Roag, from his intensely moving performance in Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan to his comic character in Kis Din Mera Viyaah Howay Ga, he has proved time and again that he can portray any character with ease. This gifted actor believes he has a long way to go. Recently, MAG caught up with Faisal and talked about his passion for acting. Excerpts:
How would you describe your transition as an actor from your popular character Boota to your character in Sabz Pari Lal Kabootar?
After getting my big break from Boota from Toba Tek Singh, I had no specific plans, but by the grace of Allah, I was lucky enough that offers started pouring in. I never wanted to become a hero, what I had planned was to get into that selected list of versatile actors and to be recognised as one. That was my ultimate goal and I set my mind to work hard and achieve it. Although, I also played those run-of-the-mill kind of characters in the beginning but as I developed as an actor I started getting really good offers. Now, I am at that stage of my career, where I can choose to do whatever I want.
How has the experience of hosting a morning show been? And how is your show different from other shows?
The experience has been amazing and the best part is that I am directly connected to my fans. When I am on air, I am the way I am in real life and I do not fake anything. Similarly, my show is different in a way that I have never organised a wedding week or a supernatural show. I try my best to raise social issues and discuss those instead.
Drama serial Jahez throws light on the social custom of dowry. What is your say on Sheikhoo’s character in the serial? Do you think such characters exist in our society?
Well… they certainly do exist. They are influenced by their parents, who put pressure on them and manipulate them. I believe that guys who are being manipulated like this can play a vital role if they change their attitude. So, I really hope that people will learn a lesson from Sheikhoo’s character.
How was your experience of Nachle 4?
It was great, because there is so much talent in our country. Although, it’s true that we still have a long way to go in order to make our mark in dancing, however, 3 or 4 guys in this season of Nachle are truly spectacular. I believe they can prove themselves as great dancers.
Have you experienced any real life nightmares?
I do not think so, because I never plan things. I just work hard, do my best and leave the result on Allah. So even now, things tend to shape up on their own and opportunities keep coming. I am getting great offers, so I would say that I am truly blessed that way and I do not experience any nightmares at all.
Is there a particular role that you want to play but have never been offered?
No, it has never happened to me. However, there were a few serials which I refused but there was always a perfectly good reason behind my refusal. Sometimes, I felt that I had done something similar before that so I declined the offer. For instance, Ashar’s role in Humsafar was offered to me but I refused, because I felt that the character was a blend of the characters I depicted in Qaid-e-Tanhai and Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishan. Similarly, Zard Mausam was also offered to me but I refused. I believe if I had done these serials instead, I would not have created that much of an impact which was made by Fawad or Faisal Rehman. So there are no regrets, somebody had to do it eventually.
What kind of training/education do you recommend for acting?
There are so many top-notch acting schools in the world, but I do not know of any famous actor who went to such schools to get trained for acting. It is a fact that you cannot learn acting from any institute, no matter how good it is. What these schools teach is just basic knowledge about acting that polishes the natural talent and nothing else. There are so many gifted actors in our country at the moment like Sajid Hassan, Faisal Rehman, Talat Hussain, Qavi Sahab etc. All these great actors did not learn acting from any school, yet they are the best artists that our country has.
You have achieved so much over the years. Your biggest achievement so far?
My family is happy with me so I consider that as my greatest achievement. I am very happy that my family is content with me.
Who is your favourite female co-star?
There are quite a few, but those who wear less make-up and are thoroughly committed to their work are my most favourite co-stars.
What do you do in your leisure hours?
I spend time with my family, play cricket, watch movies and of course I absolutely love to spend time with my fans. So I do a lot of things in my spare time.
Once you said that Nadeem Sahab was your biggest inspiration.
When I watch him acting, I find his attention to detail really amazing. Moreover, he had this huge on-screen presence which no one else has even now. People often say that they see a reflection of Nadeem Sahab in my acting, which is a huge compliment for me.
It has become a trend nowadays to make dramas on bold and tabooed subjects. Do you think this should continue?
I think we should talk about these things, because by highlighting them we are trying to come up with solutions. Honestly speaking, Man-o-Salwa and Manay Na Yeh Dil have totally changed the overall picture of our drama industry.
You did a few films as well in the beginning of your career. Any plans of working in films in the near future?
Yes, offers are coming in. In fact, I got one offer just recently, but because my fans rely on me so much, I try my best not to disappoint them. I will do a movie eventually, however, on my own terms.
Where do you see yourself in a few years’ time?
I am not an astrologer, so I cannot predict anything. God knows better, because I never plan things on my own.

Rozina: was a famous heroine of mainly Urdu films though she had also acted in Punjabi films in 60’s and 70’s. Her actual name is Ivy and Rozina is her family name. Faisal Kapadia is a renowned Pakistani musician, composer, singer-songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the pop-rock music band Strings. Faisal Kapadia has directed a number of music videos for his band. Strings made its entry into Bollywood music in 2006. Faisal and Bilal announced parting ways after 33 years of togetherness and the strings band was disbanded on 25 March 2021.

With the accusations of harassment on producer Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood, things started changing when many women shared their stories. The drive has now reached India and Pakistan and many women here are sharing their stories.
Tanushree Dutta started the drive in India when she accused veteran actor Nana Patekar of harassing her 10 years back. A high profile case also emerged in Pakistan where Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar and the case is in court. Another high profile accusation has come forward with a woman accusing Faisal Edhi, son of Abdul Sattar Edhi of inappropriate behaviour. Fairy Tales Characters and Our Actors
Today while cleaning my bookshelf, I came across a book of fairy tales. While thumbing through its pages, I started to think which actors fit the fairy tales characters. Here is what came to my mind at that time.
Cinderella
I guess we all know that has to be Sanam Jung. She can cook, clean, serve tea, and take sever abuse. She is usually not allowed to participate in parties and weddings, and she usually does not have a mother.
But If we have a Cinderfella, that must be played by Sami Khan.
Cindrella’s evil sisters
Now as we all know Yumna Zaidi is the evil sister/cousin of the year, this role goes to her. But we need two of these. No problem, Yumna will play a double role and act as both of these sisters. She has enough evil in her.
Cinderella’s step mother (covering all step mothers)
That’s actually not hard to find. Rabia Noreen fits the role right there.
Fairy godmother
This one is not tough either. Ismat Zaidi will be a perfect choice.
Prince (covering all princes)
The prince has to be charming, good looking and of course being a prince he must be able to churn rather than earn money. We have seen Mikaal and Fawad Khan in roles like these, so they will be a good fit.
PS. We are only left with the pumpkin that must turn into a coach in the Cinderella story. How about Ushna Shah? This role does not need acting skills.
Aladin
If we were making a drama/film based on Aladin, the best choice in my opinion is Usman Khalid Butt. This guy can do comedy roles without looking like a joker. Aladin has to be young and fun loving, but still be able to fight the evil Jaffar. By the way Adnan Jafer will be a good Jaffar.
Hansel and Gratel
Who should play Hansel and Gratel? Hansel and Gratel were young brother and sister who were threatened by a witch in a jungle. The witch was a cannibal. They were young, cute, and vulnerable. Sheroze Sabzwari and Mawra Hocane will be a perfect fit.
Jack( from Jack and bean stalk)
If we dramatize Jack and the bean stalk, then Yasir Mazhar comes to my mind as Jack. I am really impressed by his acting skills.
Beauty and the Beast
Mahira khan as Belle, I think she is beautiful and will look great in this role. The beast can be perfectly played by Faisal Qureshi, Nauman Ijaz, or Adnan Siddiqui as the beast.
Thumbelina
Thumbelina is tiny girl, about the size of a thumb and she had several adventures involving problems with toads that wanted to marry her. She ended up marrying a flower-fairy prince of just her size. So who do think can be Thumbelina? In my opinion that must be Sajjal Ali.
Snow white
Snow White’s name suggest she has to be really white. Hareem Farooq loves to be painted white, so she wins this characters. Hina Bayat will be a perfect match for her step mother.

Fairy Tale Couple Sehar Khan & Hamza Sohail Reunite For Big Project
Sehar Khan and Hamza Sohail reached star status after Fairy Tale aired on Hum TV. The show was a Ramadan special and no one thought it will become such a massive hit. With nearly all newcomers, the drama reached success and both the leads Sehar and Hamza became household sensations. They have both gone on to star in big projects.
Sehar Khan is a Gen Z star who has been giving hits consistently. She has experimented with her characters and starred in dramas like Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi, Tan Man Neelo Neel and Aik Aur Pakeezah. She has impressed with every project and she is all set to star in a Hum TV biggie again.

Fairy Tale is a popular Hum Television drama serial which was aired in the month of Ramadan. The drama is written by Sarah Majeed. It is directed by Ali Hassan. Breaking News: Fawad Khan has finally shared the secret of his glowing skin (husn kaa raaz), which is Fair and Lovely for Men. Yes, Fawad has endorsed Fair & Lovely and the commercial is aired on television screens too. So anyone want to be like Fawad, go grab Fair & Lovely for men.
Fawad Khan who is currently not doing any drama or film in Pakistan, has done few commercials recently. His recent commercial was for Servis, a shoes brand and now Fair & Lovely is the next one.
In past, Fair & Lovely for Men has also signed Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik as their brand ambassadors. Another cricketer Umar Gul has appeared for similar product of Forhans Fairness Cream for men. Fawad Khan is the first non-cricketer to appear for a fairness cream. Faiq Khan is a famous and talented Pakistani actor known for his excellent acting skills. He has recently delivered outstanding performances in hit drama serials such as Bebak and Meesni. His other popular dramas include Deewar E Shab, Tum Ho Jeene Ki Wajah, Raja Indar, Meri Guriya (Aan TV), and Muhabbat Humsafar Meri. He is currently appearing in Hum TV’s popular prime-time drama series Jaan SE Pyara Juni. Faiq Khan is happily married and has two adorable children. Although the actor rarely appears in TV interviews, when he does, he speaks candidly.
He recently made an appearance on Madeha Naqvi’s morning show Subh Ka Samaa, where he opened up about the groupings and politics in the industry. He also acknowledged that the industry has kept him underrated by not utilizing his potentials.
Talking about it, Faiq Khan said, “I am thinking of leaving this industry. I might leave the showbiz world and am considering switching my career. I have set a benchmark for myself, and if I don’t achieve it, I will leave. Although I don’t know what life has to offer me, I am done for now because the industry has kept me underrated. I don’t know what they wanted to see in me—branded clothes or stature. They have never asked me about the kind of work I can do. The industry is least concerned about you unless you belong to a certain class. These are not channels; they are tribes that don’t give you work if you don’t belong to their tribe. I have only been supported by Shamoon Abbasi, Mohsin Talat, and one channel. I can only speak highly of them; otherwise, this industry is ruthless”
Faiq Khan and Adnan Shah Tipu also said that the industry operates on the basis of contacts. Grouping exists, and today the industry prefers actors who are marketable rather than focusing on talent. They noted that the industry favors actors who have a certain look, stature, or strong PR, and who are commercially successful. Both actors agreed that mediocre actors are often celebrated as stars in Pakistan. Additionally, they pointed out that it has become common for actors to be paired on-screen despite significant age differences.
Faiq From Betiyaan- Pictures With Wife And Daughter
Pakistani dramas are loved all over the world and our 8 p.m. slot with the weekly aired prime time dramas are what gain popularity worldwide. With Parizaad, Kaisi Teri Khudgarzi and Mere Humsafar being the recent examples how our dramas are not only popular in Pakistan but other countries as well. But a new trend has started and now long soaps featured on 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. slots are gaining high viewership and a lot of love from the audience. Within days of being released they become staple in households and the actors in these dramas also become overnight stars. Fahima Awan’s Heartfelt Act After Mother’s Demise
Fahima Awan is a beautiful and brilliant Pakistani model and television actor. Fahima began her career with modelling and then she switched towards the acting. Alot of people are saying to me that I should not keep them with me but I still have them”
