Maya Ali is the bubbly star of today. She has made a name in the industry in quite a little time. She is the favourite of drama watchers and is also quickly becoming the favourite in the cinema. Her debut film Teefa In Trouble opposite rockstar Ali Zafar was a massive hit. She has since signed Paray Hut Love opposite Shehryar Munawar Siddiqui. Maya came on Samina Peerzada’s show where she shared that she is very close to her brother. They have a special bond and are always attached at the hip.

Ohkay so, this episode of Deedan was pretty basic. Till now the story of Deedan hasn’t given us anything new or what we have not seen before but it still is a decent drama to tune to & not to forget those beautiful locations that are definitely not to be missed because it is visually appeasing to watch Deedan.
Resham’s Sacrifices:
Resham is putting up with everything that her parents in law are directing towards her. It has been convincingly shown that when someone dies an emotional death within, nothing really matters to them anymore. Resham is not happy, but she is not sad either, she is just numb & aloof because she knows her worst nightmare has been materialized & there is nothing she can do about it. Resham knows that when her own father didn’t think about her happiness, then she can not also expect Shehbaz’s parents to be considerate of her happiness too. Resham’s only hope & happiness was Zardab so now when he is not there anymore, she has no emotions, no feelings left to hold onto.
It was good that Zardab cleared the misunderstanding between Resham & Palwasha. It was nice that before Palwasha left, Resham got to pour her heart out to her & said what she wanted to. Palwasha left for Karachi with her husband & got to meet this nosey neighbor of hers. I have a feeling she will be a bad influence on Palwasha, let’s see but for now it was nice to see a newly wedded couple having casual conversations where there was love & happiness between them.
Resham got to meet her father after a long time & she didn’t really say much as she knows she can not undo what has happened. I liked that Resham didn’t shy away from telling what she had on her mind to her father when she learnt from Zardab’s mother that Shafiullah tried to harm Zardab. Resham has a voice but she chooses not to use it as things have not been in her favor.
Closing Thoughts – Real Conversations:
Overall, this episode of Deedan was decent but there wasn’t much progress in the story. Yes, one truth was revealed that Shahbaz was an orphan & Gulbaz adopted him. Resham is not bound to take care of Gulbaz & Gul Makai but still she is doing it on ethical & moral grounds. I must say what I like about Deedan is that they have kept the conversations simple & real that is why it is easy connecting with the characters & it all feels very effortless. All the actors have done a commendable job & Sanam Saeed has carried this whole attire very elegantly. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
It won’t be wrong to say that the other name for show business is glam world. The celebrities who are a part of this glam world believe in looking after themselves and rely heavily on makeup. As a matter of fact, make-up is a part of celebrities’ job because they are supposed to look good and presentable at all times. It surely looks nice on red carpets and award shows but when it comes to dramas and translating a character on-screen, the needs and demands are completely different. Quite often the characters in our dramas go through a lot of ordeals which actually requires the actors to look natural in order to make their condition seem more real and relatable but unfortunately, some of the actors totally believe in staying glammed up on-screen too even when the situation is not in the favor of their characters. Yes, it is a fact that some of the makeup is a demand of the camera but at times we get to see make-up clad faces which end up becoming a distraction.
Here is a list of those actors who rely a lot on makeup and totally go over-board whereas they could definitely do well with less is more policy and still look great as well as make their characters come across far more real on-screen:
Ramsha Khan
A comparatively new, fresh, and beautiful face; Ramsha Khan is definitely one such actor who relies so much on makeup that often seems ridiculous. In Mah e Tamam where the roof over Ramsha Khan’s character shattered, her heavy base, false lashes, sharp contour, gel liner, and lipstick just did not budge. Even in the scenes where Ramsha Khan had to cry buckets, the gallons of setting spray kept her makeup intact. In drama serial Khud Parast, Ramsha Khan has definitely kept a light hand on makeup which lets her natural beauty come through but then again, she does seem a bit too made up. It is a done deal that she is fond of makeup but please someone do her a favor and find her the right shade and consistency for under-eye highlighter because it seems ridiculously yellow and ashy all the time.
Ayeza Khan
We really wanted Ayeza Khan to experiment with her looks more but we had never expected that someone like her, who is both talented and great looking will be seen going overboard to look good on screen. In Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Ayeza Khan’s make-up and her dressing was over the top. In Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua too she paid special attention to her outlook and there were times when it did seem like she was trying too hard. Now in her latest drama Koi Chand Rakh, she is seen wearing excessive make-up perhaps to look like the chand! Ayeza Khan is a natural beauty who needs to tone down on make-up and her reliance on make-up is quite unnecessary. This screenshot from Koi Chand Rukh shows her character attending a funeral of a near and dear one yet the face is overloaded with white foundation, pink blush on left right and center, baby pink lipstick and highlighting is pretty obvious too!
Saboor Aly
Over the years Saboor Alihas definitely experimented with her looks and has given different faces to her characters but one thing has remained consistent and that is her heavy makeup. Recently in Visaal Saboor Ali’s character went through a lot of mental pressure but the wing of her eyeliner was in all its glory at all times. Saboor has definitely made some changes and has gone light-handed on the foundation but she needs to cut down on the eye makeup too because, in one of the scenes where she was not wearing thick black eyeliner, she looked 5 years younger and very pretty which she naturally is.
Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas is a constant in this list every time it is made. What’s funny is that he never admits he uses makeup but the viewers are intelligent and have amazing eyesight and all the more thanks to 1080p quality uploads on YouTube which give all of his secrets away. Foundation, Concealer, Eyeshadow, Eyebrow Pomade, Bronzer, Cheek Tint, Highlighter, Lipstick, and at times Lip Gloss, you name it, you’ll find that makeup product on Imran Abbas’s face. In dramas like Yaar-e-Bewafa and Noor-ul-Ain where his co-stars Sarah Khan and Sajjal Aly did not wear much makeup, Imran Abbas did the honors and wore makeup unke hissay ka bhi. In Koi Chand Rakh, the green-toned foundation from his kit (which should be thrown away) is making its appearance in all its glory these days as well.
Mehwish Hayat
We don’t remember the last time we saw Mehwish Hayat on-screen with minimal make-up. Mehwish Hayat relies a great deal on make-up and very often her makeovers just like many other actors in this list are the center of attention. Everything about her look right from her hair to the contouring on her jawline is always picture perfect. Even when Mehwish Hayat was not that well-groomed, she wore plenty of make-up and relies heavily on it. Zara Noor Abbas
Zara Noor Abbas has a very pretty face but the look that she goes for the mostly bechari characters that she plays is quite glam. In dramas like Khamoshi and Lamhay where Zara Noor Abbas’ characters went through a lot emotionally and everything was quite draining for her where the world left her on her mercy, quite amazingly her kajal and blush stood by her like a rock. Also, the huge puffy hairstyles Zara usually chooses by relying heavily on extensions add up so much screen age to her. Zara Noor Abbas can definitely do much better without so much makeup and she should let her natural beauty shine through.
Agha Ali
Agha Ali is one of those actors who at times pay more attention to their styling and make-up than their acting. Even if he is seen playing the role of a man who has nothing going for him at all (Shahmir from Mere Bewafa) he makes sure that he looks like a knight in the shining armor. Agha’s hair is always gel backed in the perfect manner, his highlighting, eye make-up and the well-shaped and dyed beard is also a constant part of all his looks. This guy looks the same no matter which role he is playing!
Sohai Ali Abro
Sohai Ali Abro has a cute face and her acting is pretty decent too but somehow she has always been seen on screen with the perfect make-up and her hairstyles are always on point too whether or not the situation demands so. It won’t be wrong to say that Sohai’s good looks tend to attract you more while watching her plays than her talent or the characters she is seen playing on-screen. In every play, she is seen in a new look and that somehow is supposed to be the main attraction. Ever actor sports a different look in dramas but Sohai’s constant dependence on glamour and her perfect look from head to toe make her look more like a model even in her acting projects. Even her accessories are very well selected and her hair is never out of place. While watching her on-screen is a visual treat but her over-reliance on make-up is also distracting.
Zahid Ahmed
Zahid Ahmed broke all of his previous records in the drama serial Pukaar where there was so much makeup that distracted the viewers from his acting as they were too busy spotting the unflattering shades pasted on his face. From orange eyeshadow to 5 shades lighter foundation and pink or purple lip tint really made it hard to understand why did Zahid Ahmed let makeup artists do that to him. Zahid Ahmed has never shied away from flaunting his dusky complexion so not sure what went wrong in Pukaar. In Visaal for the initial weeks, Zahid Ahmed’s hideous choice of wig was the talk of the town too. In his recent dramas, he has been seen wearing so much make-up that it is distracting.
Iqra Aziz
Even though Iqra Aziz has really groomed and polished herself and she also makes very good makeup choices, it won’t be wrong to say that she relies heavily on makeup. Iqra Aziz has mostly done serious, emotional roles but her makeup is always on point, even in those scenes where she is crying buckets (which happens all the time). Heavy foundation, properly made up eyebrows and a heavy hand on cheek, nose & lip tint are Iqra’s go-to’s. It would be good if Iqra experiments with her hairstyle or makeup as she looks pretty much the same in all of her dramas. The only time Iqra Aziz did not wear a lot of make-up was in the initial episodes of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi otherwise in Jhooti her attire and make-up both were over the top.
Aiman Khan
Aiman Khanis a natural beauty and we are also convinced that she is quite capable of being a good performer since she has been very convincing in a few of the unconventional roles she has played in her career. Unfortunately, not only is Aiman Khan stuck playing similar roles in dramas but the irony is that she looks her best even when her character is going through hell. Most characters she plays are constantly going through a turmoil yet Aiman Khan hardly ever looks the role. Aiman would look equally appealing with absolutely no make-up on yet she wears so much eye make-up that you tend to notice her eyes more than the stress her character is going through. Heavy contouring is also a constant part of Aiman’s looks. Aiman Khan also finds it difficult to compromise on the length of her heels, she wears platform heels but even when she is working in the house or walking to the doctor, the heels are always there! In this screenshot from Bedardi her character was HIV+ and was going through a really rough time yet the pink glow (blush on), the highlighting on the nose, and the eye make-up is subtle yet on point.
Minal Khan
Minal Khan is another natural beauty who needs absolutely no make-up yet she is seen wearing so much make-up in dramas that sometimes she looks twice her age! Heavy eye make-up with dark lipsticks is Minal Khan’s standard make-up look. Even if she is playing the role of a regular girl going through the worse period of her life on screen, there is absolutely no compromising on make-up. Her overall look in plays can easily pass as “formal” even in times when it should be strictly casual. In this screenshot from Ki Jaana Mein Kon her character was expressing how devastated she was to see the love of her life living a happy life with someone else. So this is basically another day in the life of this character while she is going through depression and agony yet the make-up is as loud as ever!
Sarah Khan
Sarah Khan is one of our flawless beauties but it won’t be wrong to say that she is always a bit too made up too. In Yaar e Bewafa Sarah Khan surely took the natural route because it was the demand of the character but other than that, even in those dramas where the world comes crumbling down on her, her loud makeup stays in place. There was a time when Sarah Khan was obsessed with bright neon pink/orange lips, but now even though her lip color choice may have changed and she may be gravitating towards more natural toned lipsticks, the rest of her makeup is pretty out-there and loud whereas she doesn’t need much as she is naturally very pretty. Recently, In Sabaat, she is wearing so much make-up that she even goes to bed with it!
Asma Abbas
Asma Abbas is a versatile actor who has played a range of different characters over the years. For poorer or richer, in sickness and in health, she has vowed to wear as much makeup as she can. In recent dramas Koi Chand Rakh and Khud Parast, Asma Abbas is flaunting to be an ameer aunty therefore she has given her characters quite an OTT makeup look, but in the drama serial, Daldal where she was quite poor, her thick cakey base and eyebrow makeup was loud too. It’s a done deal that Asma Abbas does not believe in a natural or no-makeup look.
Faryal Mehmood
Faryal Mehmood has also joined the bandwagon in a brief span of time. Ever since she lost weight, she makes sure that she looks the best in all her dramas. Even when she is not wearing loud make-up, her overall look is always such that she looks her best on-screen. Whether her character is going through the most tormenting break-up or she has just learned the ugliest secret, her make-up is always on point. The viewers witnessed this in her recent dramas – Laal Ishq, Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei, and Baba Jani. Faryal Mehmood is convinced that apart from good acting, looking great in all situations is the key to success and we beg to differ!
Azfar Rehman
Azfar Rehman is one of those heroes in our industry who wear just as much make-up as their heroines but the only difference is that because they are men, their make-up is terribly off-putting. Azfar’s make-up artists always makes sure he wears enough lipstick to make his lips more conspicuous and his eye make-up is always as obvious as that of his heroines. Looking good is definitely a priority for him which is why we hardly ever see him on-screen without any make-up on.
Mizna Waqas
Mizna Waqas surely knows how to accentuate her features, from a flawless thick base to even thicker eyeliner, heavy contouring, eyebrows, fake lashes, hair extensions, you name it, Mizna Waqas is wearing it. In drama serial Lamhay which is currently airing on Hum TV, Minza is seen bare faced which is a good change and a pleasant surprise seeing her steer away from makeup for a while but other than that, just recently in Tabeer where she came from a humble background, her makeup screamed totally opposite. Mizna Waqas always has a heavy-hand on the makeup and we are interested to see a more subtle/natural look on her.
Sadia Khan
Sadia Khan is gorgeous, there is no disputing that but she also relies on make-up more than is necessary. Even if her character is such that there is no room for wearing trendy make-up, she is still seen wearing it. Sadia Khan makes sure she looks trendy and pretty no matter what role she plays. For instance, in this screenshot from drama serial Shayad, her character was going through the most terrible period of her life and had taken refuge in someone’s house yet her make-up made her look as fresh and stylish as ever!
Sami Khan
Sami Khan is a phenomenal actor who gives every role he plays his best but his make-up is almost always overdone. His heavy reliance on lipstick and eyeshades in particular makes him one of those actors who find it difficult to appear on screen without any make-up. A performer like him who is also pleasant looking does not need to rely so much on make-up.
Sonya Hussyn
Sonya Hussyn has definitely upped her game when it comes to choosing the kind of role she has been playing but her reliance on make-up has definitely not taken a back seat. In her recent dramas even when her characters were going through the worst any character in Pakistani drama has ever gone through, Sonya Hussyn’s make-up was always in place.
Nadia Khan
Nadia Khan has just started acting again and she made sure that she was part of projects which highlighted some important issues. Unfortunately, Nadia Khan killed the impact her characters could have had because of her weak acting as well as her over-reliance on make-up. Her characters this year went through some really tough times but Nadia Khan did not compromise on her make-up and styling even in a single scene. The fact that she is not comfortable with tying her hair has also been a little too obvious in all her dramas.
Bushra Ansari
Bushra Ansari is another brilliant actress who has lately started relying excessively on make-up as well as glamour. Alizeh Shah
Alizeh Shahis a beautiful new face of our industry and she has gained a lot of popularity in such a short span of time because of her looks as well as convincing acting however, the overly made-up look that she goes for doesn’t do justice to her age. Alizeh Shah has been seen in Ishq Tamasha and Dil Mom Ka Diya, where she has more or less played the same character but the heavy makeup that she chose seemed unnecessary as she can carry herself really well even in very little makeup. She has big eyes so even if she puts an extra effort, it gives her a very made-up look which at times does not suit her character.
Yashma Gill
Yashma Gill is new in the business but her over-dependence on make-up is already evident from the looks she carried in all the dramas she has been a part of till now. Yashma Gill has experimented with more hairstyles than she has with the kind of characters she has played. Her tacky fashion sense also makes her stand out for all the wrong reasons.
Saad Qureshi
Saad Qureshi is another new actor who already has already been seen in many dramas. Saad Qureshi pays special attention to his make-up and styling. He has worn everything from eye make-up to kajal in different dramas and we have yet to see him in a look which is not overdone.
Azekah Daniel
Azekah Daniel has recently started relying more on make-up than ever. In her latest drama serial Tera Ghum Aur Hum her character was critical after a suicide attempt yet she was lying there with winged eyeliner, highlighter, blush on looking like she faked the suicide attempt. Clearly, looking good is a priority for Azekah whether that suits the situation or not.
Seemi Pasha
Seemi Pasha has been working in a lot of dramas lately. She has played all kinds of motherly characters and most of the time she looks pretty stylish in these roles. The problem is that she looks equally stylish with make-up on like she is going to a party even in those scenes which require a no make-up look. For instance, in this scene from Ishqiya she was pleading with the doctor to save her only son’s life who was in ICU yet the amount of make-up she was wearing in the scene was ridiculous. We love Seemi Pasha but she needs to go easy on the make-up and even the styling.

PTV classics are those beautiful plays that neither people of the older generations nor the newer ones are ready to get over. What if I tell you that one of those eternal classics is being revived?
Well, brace yourself before we give you the story of the day. PTV classic Alif-Noon which starred Kamal Ahmed Rizvi as smart and cunning Alan and Rafi Khawar as innocent Nanha is making a comeback. It has been televised many times after its original run. The show had also made a successful transition from black and white to the color television but this time it is not going to be a television play. Rather, it will be grander than before. The satirical show is going to be turned into a movie. Isn’t it amazing? Well, yeah it is super amazing.
In an interview to a tabloid, Shahzad Roy who is playing Allan in the film said, “Alif Noon is now being converted into a feature film and will be released in 2019.” It will also star Faisal Qureshi as Nanha. Teen Batta Teen also revealed that apart from acting, he will be writing and directing the film as well.

Shot in the beautiful locales of northern areas it tells a story of a girl who falls in love and has to face the wrath of the society. Sanam, apart from theatre and television, has become a brand ambassador for her friend Meher Jaffri’s clothing brand Jack.
People knew him as the Call band’s front man in the beginning and then he ventured into television. He has been reigning it ever since he has joined. He is the prime time king and you will find him on every TV channel throughout the week that is because people love him.
He’s not just a successful TV actor but also a family man. His latest pictures with his son and his wife and of course his close friends celebrating his birthday are proof.
While the gathering was an intimate affair we saw a few familiar faces attending Junaid’s birthday. Actor Syed Jibran along with his wife attended it and of course, how could Danish Nawaz give it a miss? He was the director of Junaid’s last big hit Ishq Tamasha opposite Aiman Khan and Kinza Hashmi on Hum TV.

Junaid’s cousin actor Ahmed Ali Akbar who is featuring in Tajdeed e Wafa was missing, though. We wish Junaid a very happy birthday and a very successful year ahead. Now that he is doing TV so much, hope we get to see him films someday.
Ohkay so, this episode of Khud Parast was again very interesting & intense. The credit definitely goes to the director for executing it in such a way that every single scene, every single conversation struck a chord. However, I totally understand that the writer has a purpose behind bringing this storyline to the table but I do not think it was necessary to show Hijab as a symbol of oppression where it was imposed on someone who did not understand its value, importance & the wisdom behind this commandment for women. When it comes to Hijab, the widely accepted notion is always that of an oppression so to further elaborate it is a kind of an insult to those women who wholeheartedly & on their free will wear it that too with pride. Dramas like Khud Parast may have a purpose of their own but the general message that is usually conveyed through them is wrong on so many levels. Anyways, if we stick to the one-sided picture that is being shown, then I will say that the drama-makers have done a commendable job.
Uswa Has a Long Battle to Fight:
So, slowly & steadily Uswa started changing herself & while doing so, she also started learning about how things actually rolled in Hanan’s house. Everything was obviously a shock for Uswa because even though she came from a relaxed & unorthodox background, there was one thing which she didn’t grow up with & that was hypocrisy which was now prevalent in Hanan’s household. Uswa changed herself to fit Hanan’s demands but only because she genuinely loves her husband & can see that he is a nice person but yes, she was unable to relate to him on a lot of things because they both have been brought up very differently.
For Hanan, all the things Bakhtawar said were very normal but for Uswa, it was not. Hanan has gotten used to this environment & because he was raised in such a setting, it is very difficult for him to break free from what has been brain-fed to him for so many years that is why, he continued to do what he believes is right without considering what Uswa was going through. Hanan may be nice but for him, it is a done deal that it is his wife Uswa who has to do all the compromises, she has to change, she has to adapt to the new lifestyle & while she is at it, she is not supposed to question. However, Hanan did keep his conversation open with Uswa & even though he snubbed her, he still did allow her to say what was on her mind. Hanan won’t be able to change or do much till his mother will keep on pushing him to act like a typical chauvinist.
Uswa’s sisters in law are up to no good. Now that they got rid of her, they should stop being so salty to add more to Uswa’s woes. Uswa’s Bhabhi now wanted Uswa to pay the price for what she has done in the past which was wrong. What Khatoon Bibi did was basically what was expected from an uneducated woman who hails from such a background where they’d do anything to make the ends meet. Bakhtawar got another chance to malign Hanan’s heart against Uswa & it definitely worked.
That scene where Hanan crossed the line with Uswa was depressing but done well. I liked how in that situation very calmly Uswa conveyed everything to Hanan & he just left it at that. Hanan did feel bad & try to make it up to her which shows that he does not believe in mistreating Uswa like his brother Moeez but he has issues with self-control. Uswa is getting one eye-opener after another where she is only left wondering about everything that is wrong in this household. Uswa witnessed Moeez’s condition when he was drunk & that is when she actually realized that Bakhtawar was full of double standards where she didn’t believe in keeping a check over her sons but was controlling her daughters in law like her slaves. Uswa’s dialogues were written well & I liked how she told Beenish that her attitude was empowering Moeez to do all this to her.
Uswa does believe that she will change Hanan, she will change the dynamics but every single time she gets a reminder that she should not underestimate Bakhtawar & her control over her sons. Uswa definitely has a long battle to fight ahead. I will say that even though Maria’a dialogue at times do sound bizarre & shallow but it shows how people from the outside think the grass is greener on the other side. Maria is unable to even understand what Uswa is going through because she can only see the luxuries her sister Uswa has in her life.
Closing Thoughts – Amazing Acting & Direction:
Overall, this episode of Khud Parast was very interesting with some amazing acting skills displayed by Ramsha Khan, Asma Abbas & Shehzad Sheikh. I loved Ramsha Khan’s acting in the very last scene where Uswa stood there numb in disbleief that Bakhtawar was not allowing her to spend a night her mother’s home & then she had this hatred in those expressions too where she wanted to punish Bakhtawar but was unable to do so. It was interesting to note how Bakhtawar was not making an eye-contact with Uswa as she knew what she was doing to her was not justified. The direction of this drama is really good. Small details like how Hanan & Bakhtawar’s picture in the background was used to suggest her control over him when he was being violent towards Uswa, make this drama very interesting watch. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik are one across the border couple we all love. The sports stars welcomed their son a few days back. They had shared the news very early on in Sania’s pregnancy and people were waiting for the bundle of joy to arrive. Their little one baby Izhaan Mirza-Malik is finally here and mom Sania Mirza finally took him home. Shoaib Malik was present at the birth of his son but had to leave soon due to his commitments with Pakistan cricket team.
The mother-son duo who are spending time together and recovering watched papa’s match on-screen and had their bonding time. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 1 Story Review – This first episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was captivating and fast-paced. Most viewers were expecting this to be Bhola’s (Imran Ashraf) story more than Noori’s but tonight episode focused entirely on Noori. This was surprising but the character was introduced brilliantly. Kashif Nisar’s direction coupled with Faiza Iftikhar’s screenplay was nothing short of brilliance, not a single scene dragged and the attention to detail was impressive.
Noori – The Headstrong and Determined Protagonist
In this first episode every single trait of Noori’s (Iqra Aziz) character along with her back story was covered superbly. Noori was shown as a misfit in her family and also someone who was lucky enough to meet a mentor who changed the course of her life. Although Noori learned to read and write but her basic mannerism remained somewhat the same. Even though Noori hated the kind of people her parents and siblings were yet she was a lot like them in so many ways even though she was a lot more educated than them. Noori’s “wild” nature was the most obvious trait of her personality. Amma Janate started teaching her basic mannerism right from day one but Noori’s sole concentration was on learning how to excel in her studies and she obviously did not take all the other advice very seriously. Noori and her mentor’s relationship was heart-warming although I do feel that the actress playing Ama Janate’s role did not emote very well. Noori’s back story was shown right from the time when she was a little girl while she sat in the train frightened and worried – it looked like she was running away from somewhere. Noori is a girl who has big dreams but it seems like her dreams will be shattered. Noori’s spirit and most importantly her pride stayed pretty much intact even when she was in the train. Ama Janate’s dialogues about Noori’s pride were meaningful, will Noori learn all these lessons the hard way?
Favorite Scenes
My favorite scenes from this episode were the ones which covered Noori’s time in the haveli. The way she looked around in wonder and awe when she entered the haveli said a great deal about what was going on in her mind. Noori could not believe the fact that she was getting so much respect, she was bring served in clean beautiful dishes and she was even allowed to go to the kitchen! That one scene in particular in which Noori looked at the glass was exceptional. Iqra Aziz’s expressions in this scene and her performance overall tonight definitely fit the bill. Iqra Aziz definitely stepped out of her comfort zone to do justice to this character and translated the different shades of her character realistically on screen.
Overall Impression
This first episode as a whole was impactful. Syed Jibran’s character was introduced in the end and he got very little screen time but his dialogues clearly indicated what his intentions were. Although Noori thinks she is clever but she was naive enough to instantly trust this man and was even attracted by all the things he had in his shop. All the shades of Noori’s personality were quite clear from different scenes. Noori’s journey has my undivided attention after watching this first episode and I am looking forward to watching Bhola in the next episode. The dialogues in this first episode were simple yet meaningful and the screenplay was truly impressive. The camerawork and editing couldn’t have been better. The only disappointing aspect was that Bhola was not introduced in this episode, otherwise it couldn’t have been better.

Yasir Hussain has outperformed himself in Baandi. You actually feel creeped out by Tahwaar. He has really picked up the accent and has managed to look like a really cruel Wadera. The helplessness of a poor father but at the same time, a fierceness he feels for his daughter has been beautifully portrayed by the character of Raju. How helpless these people are in front of these Waderas but how he has distanced himself from his beloved daughter just to keep her safe from Tahwaar. Tahawaar has a new game plan now and seems like it would destroy Meeru’s family.
Hina Dilpazeer is another actress one can swoon over. She has portrayed the hypocrisy and obsession of Faiza in a classic way. Faiza is a woman who has come from a poor background and now she just want all of that to go away. She tortures anyone who is lesser than her financially just to take out her obsession of hating the poor. The way she switches herself in the scene from preaching the good to actually beating her maid is something she should be applauded for. She has taken to the character of Faiza beautifully and is one of the strongest pulls of this show.
Aiman Khan has been a bit weak in the acting department in this show. She is not matching to the level of all her co-stars. Muneeb Butt till now has also been a perfect Wali. He wants to do good but is helpless because of the circumstances. He has now started falling for the Baandi aka Meeru and his mother’s reaction to this will be something to look forward to.
Rameen and Farhan’s track is also running in the background. Kamran Jelani is the cruel husband and he has made me hate his character Aadil with his performance.
Baandi is highlighting the problems of the poor and how they are exploited in the rural areas in a very realistic way up till now. How it goes from here will be something to watch!

What could be better than releasing a trailer of your film on your birthday. Shahrukh unveiled his film Zero’s trailer on 53rd birthday. The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles and is releasing on the Christmas eve on 21st December.
Initially, Deepika Padukone was going to share the screen space with Shahrukh and Katrina but she had stepped out of the film citing date issues. He was brought up only by his mom:
HSY was brought up only by his mother. His father was the youngest MNA in Benazir Bhutto’s time. His parents got divorced and they shifted from Pakistan to Dubai initially. Hassan has one sister Afshan who is four years older than him. After living for a few years in Dubai the family had to shift to the USA. Hassan’s mother worked several jobs to bring him up and she is the one who instilled in him that hard work is not something that makes you lesser, it actually makes you greater than others.
His unique Urdu accent is because of staying away from Pakistan:
Hassan Shehryar Yasin is mostly pointed out for a very unique accent. Many say it is made up since he is very fluent in the language. He clarified that he went away from Pakistan at a very meagre age and came back when he was about 16 or 17 years, it is then when he learned Urdu thus his accent is different.
Hassan and his sister were separated for years:
Hassan’s only sibling, his sister Afshan was brought up in London after they moved from Dubai while he and his mother were in NewYork. Because his mother could only take care of one person at that time, Hassan’s sister lived in London and moved back with them when she started college. Even after living away for so many years, the family maintained their closeness and fought the circumstances like a unit which is why they are where they are today.
HSY’s friends have been a support system:
Friends are something that makes things look easier for you. A good friend is better than a huge fortune combined. Hassan is a very friendly person but he has four best friends who have been with him all his life. Tahira Syed’s daughter Kiran, designer Kamiar Rokni, Maheen and Taimoor Ahmed have been his friends for years now and these are the people he always comes back to.
Hassan’s Mother’s Salary:
When they came back to Pakistan, circumstances were still not supportive. Hassan’s mother used to earn four thousand rupees from her job while he himself has worked at Pace as a check out boy, painted homes and has even worked in construction. His mother is a very brave lady and the mother-son duo together became what HSY is today.
He became blind for a year in his teenage:
When he was 16, he met with an accident. He went through the car’s windshield and shards of glass got stuck in his eyes. He had 16 corrective surgeries for it but couldn’t see. He was depressed and stuck in blindness. He could only see red after his eyesight came back. He considers red the colour of life and therefore his collections have a lot of red in it. He likes to see details and therefore he uses a lot of patterns in his collections too. During that difficult time, his mother and sister were the support system that got him to go through that trauma and not break.
He also did a lot of modelling:
HSY had a lot of scars due to his accident but he still did a lot of shows as a model. He was rejected by many but then Nilofar Shahid gave him the opportunity to work. He felt shattered after the scars he got due to his accident but he built his confidence back and did a lot of modelling.
Hassan met his father for the first time at the age of 17:
After coming back to Pakistan, Hassan met his father for the first time at the age of 17. He is his father’s only son and now takes care of him since he is very ill. He has made peace with his past and does not hold any grudges or disappointments towards his father. His father is very proud of him and knows how big his son has made.
People Who Don’t Know Me Call Me Sheru More-HSY:
His first name is Hassan Shehryar Most people call him that. His nickname is Sheru and some people do call him that too. He has noticed that more the people do not know him, more they be casual with him and call him Sheru instead f his full name.
He wants to work for education:
Hassan is very passionate about education and his biggest achievement is his education. He wants to make education available for others and wants to start a permanent scholarship program for that. He has not yet started working on this idea but wants to do it.

He was then sent to a boarding school and upon graduation he joined his father’s business. After it was liquidated, he had nowhere to go. While he was figuring out about his future, he was called a by director friend of his to Karachi. He had one scene to play in Wafa Kaisi Kahan Ka Ishq and he says that it was so bad that the makers wanted it to be removed.
He shares that once he was abused by an actor saying, “Where have you picked up this so-and-so from?’ It was just a beginning for him. He says his Urdu was not good, either and he had to work a lot on it. He would read newspapers, listen to the radio and news to improve it. He said while he was improving as an actor, he was not getting enough work. Around two years went by without work and he wanted to run away. But the worse was yet to come. he had hit rock bottom and was living day to day. He had finally decided to go back.
But his struggle was finally paying off. One day an assistant friend of his called him saying that a known actor was offered a negative role but he was not interested anymore. The set was ready and they needed an actor. Imran made it to the set. The director screen tested him once and he got the part. But the struggle was not ready to end for good. He started to get typecast and people started to see him as a villian in real life, too. He says he was treated differently than the people who played negative roles.
But things have changed for him for the better. He says now he can choose the parts he wants to do. His Alif, Allah Aur Insaan act won him the best supporting actor award by Hum TV in Canada. His written serial Tabeer starring Iqra Aziz became a huge success and he is starring in ARY Digital’s Dil Moam Ka Diya which is leading the TRP charts.
Farhad Hamayun is someone who turned a Punjabi film song into a sensational pop song on Coke Studio. He is the lead vocalist of the band Overload. He’s made a huge name for himself in small time and is considered to be a respected musician. Farhad was doing well as a musician only until he was recently diagnosed with brain tumor two weeks ago. The overload frontman said that he also suffered from a seizure. He posted earlier in the morning today about his illness on Facebook and the post went viral. He did not reveal if the tumor is cancerous and removed the post from public access.
The post read, “Dear friends, family, fans, it was about two weeks ago that I was diagnosed with a brain tumor due to which I suffered a seizure. I have been lucky to find the greatest surgeon in the world to operate on me but it has not been easy, I thank you for your prayers and messages of love. I have had little or no symptoms until very recently – I am told by my doctor, my active and healthy lifestyle and general attitude of positivity have enabled me to stay strong underneath and I am recovering quickly. I am truly blessed to have you all in my life, whether close or remote. Please remember that when you complain, things could be a lot worse. Please treasure your relationships and savour every moment because life can be taken away from you quicker than you can imagine. I will be back with more music, videos and art as soon as I get my strength and stamina back and exit these dark skies. I won’t slow down or give up or feel sorry for myself. God has been very kind to me. I have had everything that I ever desired. I’ve been fortunate to work and play with the greatest musicians and artists, in the history of the world. A few days ago we reported how Ayeza Khan had made a grand entry with her entourage to Emporium Mall in Lahore. Ayeza was attending the launch of Alkaram’s Winter Collection. She has been their brand ambassador for a while now and has done a couple of campaigns for them. On TV, Ayeza comes across as an innocent desi girl, while in her fashion shoots she channels diva side of hers.
But her latest pictures which are doing rounds on the internet off late prove otherwise. She can look as much innocent and beautiful in her shoots as she does in her TV outings. Ayeza looks like a vision in white in her latest pictures.
Currently, Ayeza’s Koi Chand Rakh opposite Imran Abbas and Muneeb Butt where she plays Rabail is running on ARY Digital. Ayeza’s performance in the play is being lauded by everyone. The drama also seems to be doing extremely well on the rating charts. Ayeza has previously appeared with Imran in Mohabat Tumse Nafrat Hai which aired on Geo Entertainment.
Ayeza Khan has recently confirmed being a part of Nadeem Baig’s latest serial written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar opposite Hamayun Saeed. It is called Mere Paas Tum Ho. This will be Ayeza’s first project with Hamayun. She has previoulsy worked with the writer-director duo in Pyare Afzal which proved to be a massive hit.

The number one factor has to be the actors and the chemistry they share. No matter how well-written a track is, it falls flat if the actors involved do not look like they are connected to each other at some level. On-screen chemistry is undeniably the most important factor. Some actors naturally share great on-screen chemistry and when such actors share screen space, there are bound to be fireworks. Having said that, one cannot deny the importance of a well-written script. Black and white characters and run-of-the-mill love stories do not have the same impact on the viewers now because the drama watching audience has so much to choose from. Therefore, love stories which are convincing as well as enticing and characters which are intriguing play a major role in making these on-screen couples a hit.

Arsal and Jiya (Suno Chanda)
Arsal and Jiya’s love story was a romantic comedy which kept the viewers looking forward to more every week. Their love-hate relationship, their fun and engaging characters and Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz‘s on-screen chemistry made their on-screen couple a massive success. Arsal and Jiya were cousins who were forced into a nikkah and most of their track covered how they tried to break free from this forced connection. Their very filmy and sweet love story was liked so much that viewers want to see them together on-screen again. The overall feel of this play and the way their characters were written definitely added to the charm. The fact that these two lived under the same roof and were always interacting with each other made their scenes a treat to watch. The viewers did not have to wait for them to be together since they were always with each other even when they couldn’t bear to see each others faces.Their nok jhok continued right till the end which was the best part of their track.
Samra and Sarang (Pukaar)
Yumna Zaidi and Zahid Ahmed as friends are at a great comfort level with each other and that is why every time they come together, they perform brilliantly and share an amazing on-screen chemistry. The first time they were seen in Zara Yaad Kar and this year in Pukaar. Even though they did not have a lot of scenes together but those few scenes where Samra and Sarang had conversations used to be the highlight of the episode. It is because of their chemistry that everyone was rooting for their characters ever since Pukaar began. The last episode of Pukaar was a treat where Samra and Sarang confessed love for each other, Yumna Zaidiand Zahid Ahmed made it cute and very romantic.
Aairah and Junaid (Khudgarz)
People fell in love with Aairah and Junaid not only because their characters were written and performed beautifully but also because both Amina Sheikh and Syed Jibran gave their characters such a beautiful treatment that all those moments that they shared seemed even more special and heartfelt. Every time Junaid and Aairah came together, there was this vibe about them which made them look perfect together and the credit goes to Amina Sheikh and Syed Jibran for elaborating it beautifully that two people who had nothing to do with each other became fell so much in love that they could not live without one another.
Abeer and Raheel (Khudgarz)
Again, Abeer and Raheel were a result of an intelligent writing but to see Mansha Pasha and Salman Saeed together in one frame turned out to be a treat for the viewers of Khudgarz. Their scenes were cute and casual which were acted brilliantly by Mansha Pashaand Salman Saeed. Their relationship was being rooted for because of the situation that Abeer was faced with and the way Raheel not only loved her but chose to treat her with respect. All of those conversations that they had before and after marriage brought a smile to our face because there was so much truth and reality in it. They both looked amazing together and we wish we get to see them sharing screen again.
Naina and Zaid (Woh Mera Dil Tha)
Naina and Zaid were two of the most meaningful and beautifully etched-out characters this year. The way their paths met and the manner in which their character development was covered was number one reason why this on-screen couple is simply unforgettable. Sami Khanand Madiha Imam‘s undeniable on-screen chemistry and the way they translated these characters on-screen made their scenes the only reason why most viewers tuned into the show. Although this drama had other side tracks too but it was Zaid and Naina’s love story that made the viewers tune into it every week. Even with all the ups and down these two faced the viewers rooted for them right till the end. Zaid and Naina’s love story was simply beautiful and extremely poignant. Sami Khan and Madiha Imam always create magic whenever they appear on screen together but this love story was quite different from everything else they have done so far.

Baba Jani Episode 9 Story Review – Asfand continues to be a one-of-a-kind hero who is wise and caring at the same time. Asfand’s sisters on the other hand get on your nerves, Najiba is more annoying than everyone else and her scenes can easily be forwarded because they are more or less the same in every episode.
Sadia, Nimra and Asfand’s Heart-Warming Relationship
The relationship these three individuals share is touching and their scenes are a treat to watch. Nimra is gradually getting more comfortable around Asfand. The way Asfand showed his love for Nimra was sweet and the manner in which Sadia thanked him every time was also really nice. Savera Nadeem’s expressions were brilliant in this episode because there were so many scenes in which she had to express how Sadia was feeling through her expressions. So far, Sadia has been shown as an intelligent woman but she also seems to be falling for Naila’s trap. Naila understand that a woman in Sadia’s situation will naturally have a lot of insecurities therefore she is doing whatever she can to trigger them. Sadia has also been shown as a simple woman therefore she will in the next episode do what Naila asked her to. Once again, I hope Asfand’s reaction will prove to be the reason why her confidence is restored. Asfand, Sadia and Nimra’s relationship dynamics have been covered convincingly in all these episodes. Sadia and Asfand both are likeable characters and it is not difficult to understand Nimra’s situation. Madiha Imam is absolutely brilliant in this role and Faysal Qureshi has done complete justice to his character as well.
More Family Politics
The family politics in this drama continues to be the same in every episode. The sisters keep on coming up with new plans to prove to Asfand that Sadia is not as sincere with him as he thinks. Their scenes should have been chopped down. Asfand’s reactions however are always a breath of fresh air. We continuously watch leading men in dramas being manipulated by either their mothers, sisters or wives therefore watching a man who has learned his lesson and does not fall for the manipulation is definitely pleasing to watch. The fact that Asfand wasn’t always like this and he learned from his mistake makes his character more human as well as likable. Najiba once again tried to create a misunderstanding between Asfand and Sadia, it did seem like perhaps this time Asfand will fall for the trap but on the other hand he once again showed that he was capable of judging scenarios himself.
The Weak Points
The timeline was seriously confusing in this episode. Did it cover an entire day or two days? It was difficult to understand when the birthday started and at what time it ended. Apart from this, Najiba’s scenes really should be chopped down because they are highly repetitive. The scene in the restaurant could have been shot more convincingly because it looked like they were all sitting in someone’s dining area. The phone call to Nasir looked “fake” – impossible to connect to – since he has been completely missing in the past few weeks.
The Strengths
Baba Jani is not faultless but it definitely deserves due credit for showing a man in a different light, that is its main strength and the reason why I tune into this drama every week. Usually the writers use a foolish and gullible hero as an easy way to take the story forward therefore I truly appreciate the fact that Baba Jani offers something completely different and does so convincingly. Savera Nadeem and Faisal Qureshi look great together and their character too are extremely likable. I was not expecting Savera Nadeem’s role in the drama to be so substantial therefore that has really been a pleasant surprise. I also feel that the real story has not even started yet, it will start when Asfand has to take up the role of Baba Jani for good. Mehwish will return in Asfand’s life at some point, that is also something to look forward to especially because Asfand blames himself now for ruining her life. Looking forward to watching what this drama has in store for us!
The Preview
The preview of the next episode showed that Sadia decides to get a makeover and her sister in laws make fun of her. It also showed Saqib harassing Nimra – will Asfand finally put his foot down and ask Saqib to leave?

The singer and actor Fakhr e Alam is on a mission and it is known as Mission Parwaaz. He will become the first Pakistani to circumnavigate the globe with his mission in 28 days. Fakhr e Alam has kept Pakistanis in touch with his mission through his Twitter. He met with an inconvenience recently when he was detained due to visa expiration. Fakhr, however, got in touch with Pakistani foreign office and his visa was renewed easily.
Fakhr e Alam decided to have a burger and enjoy some fresh air while in Russia and went to a vendor. On seeing a Pakistni flag on his uniform, he was given a green bun for his burger. Fakhr felt glad at the love and warmth he has been getting since he has started his mission. He shared it on his Twitter:

Ohkay so, this episode of Koi Chand Rakh was definitely well-executed. I can see that things are now changing & getting intense which was much needed because so far the story has been pretty basic without anything new to offer!
Planning & Plotting Against Rabail:
Well, Rabail is trying really hard to make things work & she is giving it all to connect with Zain but Zain is not even trying for obvious reasons. Yes, Rabail & Zain are two different people but Zain has not even given Rabail a fair chance as right from day 1 he has built this wall between them which Rabail is unable to cross.
It wouldn’t be Koi Chand Rakh without some basic flaws like Zain came to Asad’s place to discuss business matters & Nishal welcomed him as if nothing was wrong in his life or he just didn’t go through his father’s death. All Nishal could think of was Zain’s indifferent behavior towards her but even for once she did not show some consideration that Zain must be emotionally upset. Nishal kept on pestering Zain using Rabail’s name whereas Zain for a second did think about the promise he almost made to his father but forgot about it the moment Nishal started hovering around him. Also, Zain’s fluctuating behavior & expressions were funny. In the morning he left home very serious with a lot of responsibilty on his shoulders but by the time he returned, he came back as Nishal’s love-sick boyfriend who was throwing tantrums in front of his mother.
Rabail is always going to be at the losing end no matter what she does. To be honest, as much as a sympathize with Rabail, I am getting bored of her bad-luck. I know circumstances will turn in her favor in the end but for now, I am getting tired of seeing things always being against her. Rabail’s concern for Umair was twisted by Nishal & presented in a very different manner in front of Zain but then this is what is going to happen again & again as Nishal wants Zain by hook or by crook.
I don’t understand Zain’s mother either. At one hand she wouldn’t even reply to Rabail’s Salam but on the other hand she wants Rabail to act as her watchman because aunty was alone in her home. Hmmm, where was Sobi? Busy chasing after Zia Bhai? Well, as the episode progressed it was nice to see Zain’s mother softening up for Rabail & trying to defend her too. She can obviously see that her son is struggling & is unable to adjust well with her but it was nice of her to say that Zain should give Rabail a chance.
I found it funny how Rabail just ignored her mum-in-law’s order & continued to do her thing, be it spending time with Umair at the hospital, making soup for him at home or having a long meaningful conversation with Asad regarding Umair’s future. When her MIL ordered I thought Rabail will go back but she didn’t, lol. Also yes, when Nishal made coffee for Zain she said Nafeesa chutti pe hai, whereas she refered to her housemaid as Shumaila before & we all know that Nafeesa is her mother’s name, lol, like I said it wouldn’t be Koi Chand Rakh without these funny glitches.
Closing Thoughts – Better Than Previous Episodes:
Overall, I will say that I found this episode of Koi Chand Rakh a lot better than the previous episodes. I must say that everyone has been acting brilliantly but Muneeb Butt takes the crown, he really has performed phenomenally as Umair. The preview of the next one has caught my interest too. I hope Zia Bhai doesn’t linger the secret for too long & tell Rabail everything quickly. He must get back at both Nishal & Zain for bistiofying him again & again. Ayyan Ali is one notorious supermodel Pakistan fashion industry has ever had. The model was arrested from the airport four years back with a huge amount of undisclosed currency. She was then sent to the jail and has several vases on her since then. After spending a huge amount of time in the Adiala Jail, she was finally granted bail and her name was removed from the ECL. She has been in Dubai since then on the grounds of health issues.
The model announced a few days back that she will be coming back to Pakistan and she will answer all the questions herself. She is now coming back and for the first time has opened up about the case.
