Humaima Malick’s Bold Statements About Her Upcoming Film – Video

0

Humaima Malick is already being criticized by people in Pakistan for working in a B-grade Indian movie with Emran Hashmi. The two of the songs of the film that have come out till now show that Humaima did not keep into consideration the feelings of her Pakistani fans while signing this film. Many people are criticizing Humaima saying that she is following in the footsteps of Veena Malik. Veena Malik, who worked in many such Indian films could never make a stable career there because it takes much more than boldness to make a film career.

Humaima Malick and Emran Hashmi were invited to the Indian show “Comedy Nights With Kapil” in which Humaima Malick was very open about her kissing scenes with Emraan Hashmi. She did not even tell the host once to ask some other questions but she enjoyed the discussion and was very bold in her statements.

“It Hurts Me To See Our Talent Being Used As Second Hand B-Grade Options In Bollywood” – Shaan Shahid

0

Everyone knows the stance Shaan Shahid has when it comes to working in Bollywood, he declined a very important role in Amir Khan’s film Gajini. While giving an interview to Dawn News, Shaan Shahid said, “When I said no to a project I was offered, it was not that I as an actor felt that I would not be able to pull of a negative character – but I questioned why they wanted a Pakistani actor to play the villain. They have plenty of actors to perform such a role.”

He also said, “You have to understand that they [Bollywood] buy our Pakistani labels, not our talent; this is the reason one of ours can never be a Krish or Singham or whatever, unless they think beyond this. Things will not work out as India is a film giant, and in order for it to grow bigger it needs to have a bigger heart.”

Shaan Shahid is not happy with how India is casting Pakistani actors, “it hurts me to see our talent being used as second hand B-grade options. They are far better then any of the Imran Hashmis and Hameesh Rashmiyas. I would love to see any of our actors in a leading role like Dhoom 4, that would be a success story to write home about”, Said Shaan while talking to Dawn News.

Untitled

Shaan is also not happy with the policy of the government regarding the airing of Indian movies in Pakistan, according to him,

“India doesn’t support Pakistani products, as Waar and 021 are not being released in India, but we seem to have no issue with that, as local media has ignored this completely. When foreign content was playing on the Pakistani TV channels everybody in the drama industry stood up with one voice and that changed the policy, so why can’t we do that for films?

Its really sad how we are all separated – we protect our dramas but not our films.”

While talking about his upcoming film Operation o21 he said that he was very hopeful that it will do really well. Here is the official trailer of the film which is to be released on Eid-ul-Azha:

Shikwa-Episode 16

0

It’s a surprise why I didn’t doze off while watching the latest episode. The dialogues are getting way too repetitive and throughout this episode, I could easily predict the coming dialogues/actions of Mehar, Saqib, Munazzah, Firdaus Aapa and Sidra. The level of monotony was such that I exactly knew how the other person would react and what would s/he say. The element of enthrallment was completely missing this week.

Perhaps the only ‘significant’ development was that Shariq’s mother talked to Sidra’s mother about the official proposal, and following that was Mehar’s reaction. Mehar can’t help being jealous of her sister and she is clearly indulging into self-pity. Sometimes, it seems as if she considers herself the luckiest person alive to have a husband like Saqib (remember that cake wala shaer she wrote in her letter). And at other times, we find her complaining about her bad luck. I do understand Mehar’s feelings; we all know that her mother was indeed unfair to her. But why is she after her sister’s happiness? Like Sidra rightly pointed it out, it’s not her fault that Mehar got married to Saqib. The way Mehar tried to persuade Saqib to refuse to this proposal was obviously not appropriate. I hope Saqib is not foolish enough to fall for that (which I think he will)!

s3

Thankfully, we didn’t get to see much of Dr Dimwit, but Sidra did make up for his absence. Without any exaggeration, her scenes can actually make any dynamic and active person yawn!

Do I even need to tell you guys what Firdaus Aapa said or did the entire episode? You all are intelligent enough to guess that complaining and lecturing are the only things one can expect from her.

Mehar was constantly in a bad mood today! I felt like dragging Sonia Hussain out of the screen, giving her a chocolate and asking her to just, ‘Lighten up girl!’ A hangout with some friends was much needed. But my my! Considering how hysterical Mehar’s mom became, I was getting the impression as if Mehar did not go out for a few hours-but for a few weeks instead!

s1

This episode consisted of the two things I LOATHE in our dramas a) jealousy between two sisters b) the growing seed of suspicion between husband and wife. I was appalled by the fact that when the news of Mehar’s ‘mysterious disappearance’ reached Saqib, he even considered the possibility of calling and interrogating Mateen! Come on guys…Give me a break please!

s2

If you ask me, the purpose of episode 16 was just to prolong this drama serial. The preceding installment was much more engaging. I completely fail to understand the writer’s plan. As far as I can recall, ‘sister-rivalry’ and ‘shukki husband’ were NOT the focal points of this serial, or were they?

Did you guys watch the latest episode? What do you guys think of it? Please share your views!

HAMZA ABBASI MESSAGE TO NATION ON CURRENT POLITICAL TURMOIL

Hamza Abbasi is the only celebrity who is well involved on political issues and is continuously updating about the current political chaos in Pakistan. Hamza Abbasi runs his own facebook page and he had recently put a status that there things on which he wants to say and express what he feels and why Pakistan must stand on and for this he will upload a video and hence he finally uploaded the video in which he had expressed what nation needs to do now.

Hamza Abbasi said that people should not follow politicians religiously as they are just ordinary human beings, he added that instead of fighting with each other over political parties people should take a stand for betterment of Pakistan. He pledged to people that do not worship politicians, if Imran Khan do something wrong today he will stop supporting him like the way he is supporting him right now. Hence support politicians but do not worship them.

Hamza Abbasi explains that Imran Khan had taken the stand for the nation as the votes were allegedly rigged in 2013 general elections. He further added that Imran Khan’s demands are not unconstitutional and undemocratic. He took a stand because he thinks that what happened in 2013 elections was wrong. Imran Khan begged for four years to recount votes on 4 seats but government refused. So if he is protesting right now then why government is saying that this act will derail the democracy.

In the End he told the nation that thinks like a Pakistani not like a political worker. He said that there is one criteria only to support Imran Khan right now that he is taking stand for Pakistan, so be a Pakistani. The Pseudo concept must be eliminated that democracy should continue no matter what happens, it is not a good thinking a full stop is required where you feel this thing is going in a wrong way.

In order to know what he has expressed watch his video.

Some Great OSTs from Current Dramas

0

Where the quality of our dramas is going down the hill on the other hand the quality of OSTs is improving gradually. Today the particular drama may not enthral us but OST definitely do. Dramas like Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Khoya Khoya Chand, Darmiyan etc. had been proven as a total disappointment but their sound tracks are indeed mesmerizing.

I would like to give a huge shout out to Waqar Ali and Sahir Ali Bhagga who had contributed a lot in Drama Industry by composing great sound tracks, they are the masterminds behind some awesome sound tracks like Humsafar OST. Currently our writers and directors are getting out of focus and this the reason why they are unable to bring the quality, however it will not be wrong to state that our composers and singers are definitely doing a fantastic job so that audience can listen to some fascinating OSTs. Composers are now taking the level of Sound tracks to the level of filmy songs, I mean if you listen to some OSTs it definitely sounds like a film song. For example Shareek-e-Hayat composed and sung by Sahir Ali Bhagga, Dard-e-Inteha composed by Sahir Ali and sung by Sara Raza Khan, Tu hi tu (Bashar Momin OST) Composed by Ali Raza and sung by Kashif.

Here I would like to introduce you to some great sound tracks from recent dramas, hence the list as follows:

BHOOL OST: Isn’t this OST exactly sounds like Bollywood 90’s song. From the day I listened to this sound track I fell in love with it and I have literally burnt this sound track by replaying it again and again. The OST was beautifully sung by Nabeel Shaukat Ali and Bina Khan and extremely well composed by Sahir Ali Bhagga. Nabeel definitely got a bright future ahead, he got uniqueness in his voice and he can also do vocal belting like Atif Aslam. Moreover the sound track is not only good but I also like this soap airing on HUM-TV every Monday to Thursday at 6.50 pm.

Mere Humdum Mere Dost OST: I am not watching this drama as this drama never attracted me at first place. I tried to watch but couldn’t, hopefully in future the interest may develop and I shall watch it. However I simply love its OST and I must confess that this sound track mesmerized me in first attempt. The sound track was composed by the living legend Waqar Ali and it was sung by two talented rising singers Nida Arab and Adeeb Ahmed.

Jab We Wed OST: This is a new drama currently airing on Urdu 1 same channel on which Mere Humdum Mere Dost is currently ON-AIR, I am not watching this drama so I am not sure about the days and timings. The sound track is actually based on a wedding theme, so it’s obviously sounds like a wedding song. This OST completely defines the variety that our composers are providing. It was composed by Sahir Ali Bhagga and the male part was also sung by Sahir Ali himself, I am not sure about the female part so if anyone knew please tell me.

Sahir Ali Bagga – OST Jab We Wed by pakiumdotcom

Laa OST: Great drama with totally unique story, although there are many flaws in direction from the award winning director Farooq Rind. The OST of this drama gives me goose bumps each time I listen to it. Javed Bashir got a very powerful voice, our people do not acknowledge him much but he is a living legend. The OST is not fully out yet, I don’t know why HUM-TV failed to bring the full OST. Anyways I have managed to extract the whole OST, the link I have provided under the ost contains full sound track. It is not in a proper sequence and additionally it is only available on YOUTUBE and I know that YOUTUBE is not working in Pakistan. Still if you can access so please do listen to it.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0Bz41n5jsGvc9UTNiNU9abXY1M2M/edit?pli=1

Koi Nahi Apna OST: Normally sound tracks are made for dramas but Koi Nahi Apna drama is actually based on this Sajjad Ali old song Toota Sapna. The drama proves to be a total disappointment for majority audience and the only good thing about this drama is its OST. Well I am not posting an OST here but the original song of Sajjad Ali.

I only knew about these OSTs from current dramas, so update me with the OSTs from current dramas that you love to listen but I am mentioning it again only from current dramas please.

Aahista Aahista – Episode 13!

Kismat

Aye Haye! After a ridiculous previous episode, I thought this one would be a lot more humorous but sorry it was PP: Pathetic Personified. This episode was all about Haya, her split second smiles & hours long brow furrowing which gave me some wrinkles on my forehead as well.

This episode was all about Haya, her self-assumed confidence & then a few well-deserved slaps of reality checks. She looked at Sofia with a sympathetic smile feeling that deep down she has won a VINTAGE trophy that belongs to Sofia but just pretty soon, Sofia brought her back to the ground from cloud 9 & made her understand that she was literally a no one in Awazaar’s life. This episode kept on revolving around how Haya was on a high knowing that now she will be able to lead a life as Mrs. Awazaar & just finding out the next moment that by the end of the day, all that mattered to Awazaar were some spices that she added in the salan that she made for her sartaaj because he’s too wuss to clear his throat & raise a voice in front of Sofia to let her know who Haya actually was. All that I saw her doing in this episode was:

Collage

It was such a boring episode which came with a few dhak dhak sound effects as if they were successful in delivering some suspense which was nothing but an epic fail once again because those thrilling moments weren’t as thrilling as they thought they’d be, why? Because we’ve been there, seen that so many times that I am sure any toddler would be able to tell beforehand that what was going to happen. Awazaar was at the verge of telling Sofia about her Baby Sautan but his phone rang & he left. That’s just so NEWWW isn’t it? Later when he gave another shot at it, Sofia dozed off (LOL) showing him just exactly how boring his company & how contagious his tiredness is. That’s pretty new too? Wow!

While Haya kept on revolving around the town like a ghost, she thought she would now be able to live her life with her head held high as Awazaar must’ve told Sofia about their relation but her smile turned into a frown followed by what she’s good at & yes you guessed it right – soundless cries because she found out that Awazaar has not mustered up enough of a courage as he is so innocent that he lisps.

Ghost

Time & again Haya kept on telling him off as she was hurt but sadly just because she happens to have an attention span of a poodle she couldn’t see that he can’t still take a stand for her & all his promises are nothing but a farce, yet she still claims to love him wholeheartedly. Talk about being loyal or blind to a fault. Bee Jaan made an appearance to remind us that she’s perfectly doing what she’s expert at too & yes, she was all cozed up in her bed ready to sleep wearing her purple-white sleepwear that she might’ve stuck onto herself using Fevicol. No wonder why Awazaar seems so lethargic, sleepy & lazy because after seeing Bee Jaan’s activities, it clearly shows that it runs in the family. *yawwwwwnnnnnnn* mujhe bhi neend a gai!

Well, Maham of Shukk appeared as Ruby of Slowly Slowly. I mean the whole conversation between Sofia & Ruby reminded me just so much of Shukk because it was so predictable & old. I really don’t think anyone’s beauty is such a big issue to be worried about that just because according to them, a beautiful kancha-kali is living in Sofia’s house so she should be cautious but don’t they remember that the best thing Sofia did all these years was to trust her husband & have confidence in herself & their relation but just because some Haya has entered her life, she should be worried ONLY about her beauty? That’s just so odd. I really wish they had made that conversation a bit more realistic because at one point Ruby kept on saying that Awazaar was the most loving husband ever known to her but then she was haunting Sofia with Haya’s khoobsurati.

Another thing that doesn’t really seem right is that Sofia’s someone who can sniff her husband’s cologne from a distance of 50 meters but just when she’s downstairs preparing a breakfast, Awazaar is knocking the door to have a chat with Haya & not only that, he manages to enter the room without even bothering that he might get busted. I really wish the director had taken care of these things but looks like Aahista Aahista wo bhi seekh hi jayeinge, Aahista Aahista, Aahista Aahista, Aahista Aahista, Aahista Aahista. Oh & yes finally we know that Awazaar goes to some office but I was also amazed to know that despite being so tired he’s a superman because he could walk all the way from his office to his home to spot Haya crying tankers at the nearby walking track.

I must say the unnecessary shower shot of sleepy Awazaar (yukh) & all these meaningless forced hugs could’ve been skipped. If they’ve shot this drama in Amreeka, doesn’t mean they can forget that the audience of this drama aren’t Amreekans anyways. & oh yes, just as I thought, they’ve pretty much showed it all in the preview of next episode that Sofia’s going to be preggers & Haya & Awazaar will get busted. I really hope they don’t show us something so NEW that it turns out to be a dream sequence. I wish Sofia’s wide awake to see the harakaats of her sleepy husband. Share your thoughts about this episode.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

That Frustrating Moment…

0

Lights? Check! Camera? Check! Frustrating moments? Double check! Yes guys, ‘frustrating moments’ form a huge part of our dramas these days. When I say ‘frustrating moments’, I am referring to all those times when you feel like screaming, ‘I just can’t take it anymore!’ We all are addicted to watching dramas. But let’s admit it-sometimes, you find it impossible to watch the holier than thou heroine’s endless series of sacrifices. And at other times, it’s the villain’s devilish and unstoppable tactics that get on your nerves. There are moments when you DESPERATELY want either the protagonist to stand up for himself/herself or the antagonist to just shut up! The bottom line is that we all are familiar with that what-on-earth-am-I-watching feeling : P

Following is a list of the ‘frustrating moments’ we all experienced while watching these plays:

• MAAT

That frustrating moment when the only thing you could hear Aiman say was, ‘’Ammi, rehne dain. Saman abhi ‘bewaqoof’ hai.’’ Do you know what the most frustrating part was? That very ‘bewaqoof’ Saman snatched her sister’s fiancé! ‘Maat’ is actually the root of all sister-rivalry-based drama serials. It gained popularity because the concept was different and such a story had never hit the screens before. I admit – I watched it and found it engrossing too. But even now, I remember losing my temper every time Aiman defended her sister instead of giving her a shut-up call.

maat

• HUMSAFAR

That frustrating moment when all Khirad could blurt out was, ‘Mummy yeh aap kia keh rahi hain?!’And that too at the most crucial of times, when she was being smothered by false accusations! It’s not just our vulnerable heroine who made some blunders, but Mr. Asher also went out for a walk along the beach, leaving the love of his life all alone :P Please, don’t get me wrong-I myself am a die-hard fan of ‘Humsafar’, but Khirad’s constant repetition of this dialogue, and Asher’s sudden disappearance did put me off. But well, this drama WAS a masterpiece. No debate there!

hamsafar1

• DIL-E-MUZTAR

That frustrating moment when Sila rejected the person who stayed by her side through thick and thin, and, instead, she reconciled with the guy who cheated on her, married his neighbor and not even gave her the importance she always deserved. Another exasperating aspect of the serial was the way Sila, despite knowing Zoya’s real intentions, never gave her a shut-up call. That not-saying ‘NO’ policy is something I always find utterly frustrating.

dem

• Shukk

Haye!! What should I say now? How about ‘that FRUSTRATING moment when it seemed that this horribly lingering play would just NOT come to an end?’ Enough said!

shak

• MIRAT UL UROOS

That frustrating moment when you had to hear the word ‘car’ 10 times per episode :P Honestly, the ‘car’ discussion went on for too long. ‘Mirat ul Uroos’ was indeed an interesting drama serial. However, they added unnecessary elements to it and prolonged it for no reason.

mirat ul uroos

• Muhabbat Subh Ka Sitara Hai

That frustrating moment when you come to realize that ‘weeping and sobbing’ are the only two things the protagonist, Romaisa can offer. Plus Nabeel and Romaisa’s obsession with almost every element/ornament/object/animal did come across as something unnatural and annoying.

msks

• RUBARU

That frustrating moment when you felt like getting some ear drops after listening to the constant rants of Shabeeh’s cousin, Kiran. Amidst all that, they completely ignored the focal point of the story and there were points when the viewers were left clueless as to what was going on in Shabeeh and Surmed’s lives. However, I liked the contrasting time periods they showed in this serial, and some episodes were really worth watching.

rubaru

• Ek Tamanna Lahasil Si

That frustrating moment when every next scene was more revolting than the last!
My my! If you were unfortunate enough to catch even a single glimpse of this sucking-the-happiness-out-of-you drama serial, you would definitely know what I am talking about!

ek tamana lahasil

Some of the serials I mentioned above are actually my favourites. So, the purpose of my article was not to criticize, but to entertain you guys! We have all seen and experienced such frustrating moments while watching dramas. But hey! Don’t we cling on to the dramas we are watching, no matter what? Sometimes the stories of our dramas just can’t progress without such moments. But unnecessarily prolonged exasperating elements make you lose your interest.

This was it folks! I hope you guys enjoyed reading the article. I would love to hear about some ‘frustrating moments’ that got on your nerves while watching dramas and plays!

Asima Sherazi won Peter Mackler Award

Asma Shirazi, Pakistan’s first female war correspondent and host of popular TV talk shows, was named 2014 Winner of Peter Mackler Award for Courageous and Ethical Journalism Friday.

Shirazi reported on conflicts that include the 2006 Israel-Lebanon war, Taliban violence on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in 2009 and General Pervez Musharraf’s 2007 state of emergency.

She also hosted two popular television talk shows, including one on parliamentary affairs that Musharraf banned when he clamped down on independent news coverage. “We are thrilled to recognise the courage and dedication to journalistic ethics that Shirazi has displayed every day of her career,” said Camille Mackler, Project Director for the Peter Mackler Award. At great personal risk and defying death threats, Asma ensures “that unbiased, free information is available throughout Pakistan,” Mackler said. She is the second woman to win the award since its creation in 2008, after Honduran radio News Editor Karla Rivas won in 2011. Shirazi’s award pays “tribute to the courage of those who fight for freedom of information in Pakistan, where seven journalists were murdered in connection with their work in 2013,” said Delphine Halgand, US director of media watchdog Reporters Without Borders.

“AFP is happy to be associated with this recognition of Asma Shirazi’s great courage and perseverance in reporting on conflict and politics in Pakistan despite the personal dangers she faced,” said David Millikin, AFP’s director for North America.

The award, named for the late Agence France-Presse, will be presented at a ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington on October 23. The Award is administered by Global Media Forum in partnership with AFP and Reporters Without Borders. Pakistan is currently ranked 158th out of 180 countries in the World Press Freedom Index published by Reporters Without Borders.

Remake of Maula Jutt will be without batons and javelins , Bilal Lashari

Its been more than six month Bilal Lashari announced remake of Maula Jutt as his second project. Since then this front has been mostly silent. Now Bilal has informed fans about progress on this project.

As per bilal scripting of remake of Maula Jutt is completed. Unlike original film which had loud dialogs and excessive use of gandasa, Batons (laathi) and Javelin (barchi) the new version of film will be without such elements. Bilal wants to introduce new technique of film making in this film which resulted in delays. Bilal is done with scripting and casting and due to start shooting in coming days.

Laa – Episode 12

0

Hina finally found out that Daniyal is her son but that does not end her talash. She has a daunting task ahead of her now that she knows that she must do everything in her power to prove in the court that Daniyal is innocent but in order to do that, she must find Daniyal first. Proving in the court that someone like Dilawar is the actual criminal is going to be even more difficult considering that people like him usually do not get convicted. If Laila dies then Hina may not be able to save Daniyal at all. Daniyal, on the other hand is at his wits end, he is not even sure where he is or where he should go and since he is a fugitive he cannot possibly roam around freely. Dilawar’s empty threats to Naimat Khan are getting old and monotonous; the chooza seth is clearly no match for the daku! Daniyal’s secret is now officially out after Naina told her parents and Hina the truth about Daniyal’s identity and the criminal. I know this is supposed to be a very serious play but I cannot help but notice that everyone in this play is looking for someone; Hina is looking for Daniyal, Dilawar is looking for Naimat Khan and Daniyal both, Naina will set out on a journey to find Daniyal too and Daniyal is looking for a way out of this situation!

laa3

I was very surprised to find out that Hina still hasn’t officially taken up Laila’s case because she has been holding press conferences and in the last episode she was on her way to the court when Daniyal was “kidnapped”. I don’t know the procedure for these things but it just doesn’t sound logical that a barrister who hasn’t even yet taken up the case is representing it on the media. She could have been going to the court only to hear what Daniyal had to say but everything else makes very little sense. In the opening scene when she is talking to her friend she clearly says that she isn’t sure whether Daniyal is guilty or not but when Naina comes to see her, she is on the phone saying that she wants a decision on the next hearing because she wants Daniyal to be punished for what he did! Decisions regarding murder cases in Pakistan or anywhere in the world are not taken so quickly and especially when the criminal is not even in police custody. I also did not get why Hina thanked Naina for saving Laila’s life. Later on we found out that someone tried to kill Laila in the hospital, when did that happen? I am guessing that Dilawar tried to get Laila killed in the hospital but Naina saved her somehow but why do we have to figure that out? I think whoever did the editing for this episode, chopped off some very important scenes.

laa4

Tonight’s episode’s main focus was Hina’s mental turmoil after finding out the truth. I must say that the focus on the details regarding Daniyal’s case; the statements, conversations and press conference was a little too much. The friendship between Hina and her colleague is heart-warming; I enjoy their conversations and the gentleman always gives Hina sound advice. This episode of Laa wasn’t as exciting as the last one but the preview of the next episode seemed interesting. I have a feeling that Laila will survive because we see a very worried Dilawar getting his seat for Dubai confirmed. Daniyal will make his way to Lahore, I hope the viewers will get to see how he manages to escape…a request to the editor – please have some mercy!

Mehwish Hayat on her role in Namaloom Afraad

Mehwish Hayat is an established artist of television dramas. Mehwish is in newssince she performed in an item song in film Namaloom Afraad starring Fahad Mustafa in lead role. Urdu Weekly Akhbar-e-Jehan also published some interesting bits on this from the pen of Aneela Raheem which is also shared below.

Mehwish is a well known performer which needs no cheap tactics to be famous. She is already famous from her dramas, but for some unknown reasons she is appearing in drance performances in award ceremonies from past few years. Recently her filmi
item song was widely discussed in media. Mehwish’s fan are skeptic about her decision, that why she opted the way of Meera, Veena and Mathira to earn fame. Highlights of this item song where Mehwish is in glamorous dress of choli and ghaghra tells something similar to Munni Badnaam Hui and Chikni Chameli.

Mehwish is very excited about her this performance. As per mehwish this song hasprovided the required attention to the film. The song is shot in a ‘Maut ka kunwan‘ . Somer persons may object to my decision, but I was sick and tired of performing the monotonous roles in dramas again and again ranging from naik biwi, ghareeb larki, mazloom behan aur beti. The song has performance margin and this performance was a break from monotony.
She instantly noded yes on recieving this offer. Though her role in this film is small but it will impress the viewers. Without seeing the whole song it shouldn’t be labelled as vulgar.

Apart from picturization, the lyrics and music of the song has potential to become popular. Hopefully this song will be preferred over indian songs in the weddings. I never criticize any pakistani artist for working in an Indian film, as an artist has to work as per demand of the film.

Mehwish also told she was offered a role in Bollywood film Dedh Ishqiya which was later performed by Huma Qureshi. Mehwish rejected this offer as she was not willing to do some scenes which she thought were really vulgar. Mehwish is excited that her
debut film will be a Pakistani instead of Indian.

Meray Humdum Meray Dost – Episode 19

0

Another episode down and I must say that graph of this show is still rising. Perfect pace and brilliantly handed storyline are the key ingredients of this show and I must confess that the screen execution is stupendous as compared to the novel itself; Even slight changes in the story added more to the show.

Tonight’s episode was about Aiman’s proposal. Haider cant deny the fact that he is deeply in love with Aiman. After all the bad times, Aiman was the only good hope left in his life. Sadly, Almaas’s jeer effected Haider so badly that he decided to bury all feelings for Aiman deep down inside him and wore a mask of a person, precisely of an Uncle, who is deeply concerned with his niece’s marriage.

Right from the day one, he knew that Shaheer likes Aiman but he never discussed that with Aiman because at that time, he was living his life to the fullest and  forgot that he is 18 years old than Aiman. Almaas’s realization gave him a wake-up call and brought him back to the reality – Reality that was as merciless as his past, reality that takes him to some dark place where he feels suffocated.

Untitled

Sajeela is in no mood to give up on Haider and after Almaas told her Haider’s reaction on Aiman’s proposal, she considered all odds in her favor. Everytime she meets him, he gives her a polite shut up call but Sajeela has transformed herself into a barefaced woman; She keeps on building  air castles of leading a happy life with Haider and can’t stop herself from stargazing. She is making sure that everybody will develop a feeling of hatred for Aiman. After Almaas, Saahir was her target. But his reply was a slap on Sajeela’s face; He trusts his sister more than anyone else and least bothers about his father’s property getting in Aiman’s hand. After watching very scene, I was literally relieved that she failed badly in an attempt of manipulating Saahir.

Untitled

Life was never easy for Aiman either , but with Haider she forgets everything ; Haider made her what she is today and she can’t even think of living her life without him. Sajeela’s ever tweaking nature has finally started effecting Aiman ; She can’t take her mind off from the thoughts of losing Haider – Thats because Sajeela has compelled her to think that Haider will be all hers soon. Haider’s reaction to Aiman’s question was kind of unexpected for me, but seems like he has planned to make her realize that their relation is unacceptable for the society they are living in. Bibi knows that they both feel for each other. Till now, she didnot take any serious measures to make sure that Haider will get married to Aiman ,but I am dead sure, as soon as she will come to know about Aiman’s proposal, her next step will be to rush to Taufeeq’s.

a.jpg

Taufeeq always took Aiman and Haider’s friendship positively and perceived that they both feel  for each other.  In order to know the hidden truth, he discussed Shaheer’s proposal with Haider and that discussion ended up with a sheer disappointment because Haider’s interest in Aiman was pretty evident and Taufeeq himself was shocked to see him taking the situation casually.

1

Poor Aiman is still unaware that Shaheer was Haider’s choice and he wanted him to get married to Aiman. Further, he was there when Shaheer’s family came with official proposal. From preview of next episodes, I can predict that Haider will go back to Sajeela just for the sake of compelling Aiman to marry Shaheer.

Kanebaaz, on ARY Digital on Saturday

Kanebaaz is a movie starring Mohib Mirza, Aamina Sheikh, Faisal Rehman, Rashid Farooqi, Shabbir Jaan and Sajid Shah. It is written by Syed Muhammad Ahmed and directed by Ali Sade.  The film is based on real life events. As per IMDB

“Kanebaaz follows the journey of Siddiq (Mohib Mirza), a straight-talking car mechanic with a penchant for card gambling. In the ultimate shuffle, the small-time hustler rises from the streets of Kharadar to Karachi’s high society where his card-counting skill is recognized by the infamous Bawan Shah (Faisal Rehman). Shah, a legendary card player himself and Siddiq’s idol, has since moved on to secure a big stake in the city’s underworld. A far cry from Kharadar, Shah’s is an unflinching world of decadence and betrayal where everything is not what it seems to be on the surface. It is beneath this layer of venality where the real story lies: the bond between two men, one who is self-assured yet torn and the other who desperately needs a mentor to give credence to his skill and entity. Thrust into this new environment, Siddiq experiences a speedy rise in fortune but risks alienating his friends and his love Shabana (Aamina Sheikh) who happens to be his best friend’s sister. Shabana, the one person who brings out the real man behind Kanebaaz, provides the steady dose of reality as Siddiq faces an impending moral downfall when his ties with Shah strengthen and unravel the true nature of ‘business’. Kanebaz offers a harsh glimpse of Karachi, where a queen in the pocket doesn’t always make one a king.”

Kanebaaz will be shown on ARY digital on Saturday at 10 PM.

Mausam – Episode 14

0

Our prince charming and damsel in distress finally met in tonight’s episode and actually had a very “intelligent” (from Saman’s standards) discussion. I thought I’d never say this but the story has finally taken off after 13 episodes. More dialogues and more feeling from Saman added the life which this drama needed for so long now…yes it maybe too little too late but better late than never, right? I enjoyed watching tonight’s episode because Saman’s conversation with Hashir was a breath of fresh air; I had no idea that Saman could have a normal conversation! Hareem Farooq’s acting in that scene was superb too which basically showed that she can act if she is playing a smart (normal) girl. Saman did not even share the details of her rift with Faisal with Shazia, which was another pleasant surprise. Hashir’s mother’s plan worked like a charm until Hahsir and his mother ended up at Saman’s door step. That too proved to be a blessing in disguise because now Hashir’s mother knows what kind of a person Saman’s husband is, this will help her deal with him. For the first time I could connect to Hashir’s mother’s concern for him and Hashir’s feeling for Saman. Things will get worse before they get better between Hashir and his mother because of his father but I have a feeling that the story is going to take a very filmy turn from here and if it is not dragged further, things may just get very interesting too. Saman’s mother still hasn’t told her what she knows so Saman still thinks that Shazia isn’t as bad as her mother thinks she is. Shazia only keeps her ties good with Saman so that she can get information from her about her relationship with Faisal, that is so sickening. I hope Shazia ends up getting married to Faisal and Saman and Hashir find their happy ending.

Untitled

I still have a huge problem with Hareem Farooq’s foundation because not only is it too white but the make-up artist forgot to put foundation on her neck altogether. The person responsible for the lighting could have covered up the flaw in the make-up but they did not. Her face looks too white and her neck is a completely different tone. I hope that the story will move on at a fast pace from now on. The preview of the next episode showed that Faisal threatens to divorce Saman and Hashir’s mother suggests that they should pay Faisal to leave his wife. I really don’t want to see a long series of misunderstandings at this point if they are not going to be resolved quickly. It took 13 long episodes for the hero and heroine to finally meet if something good doesn’t come out of it then I am giving up on this play for good. Tonight’s episode proved that a few changes in characters and speeding up the pace of the show could have done wonders.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode. Do you think it was better than all the previous episodes that have gone on air till now or not?

Pakistani dramas are at par with Indian films: Adnan Siddiqui

Adnan Siddiqi is a well known senior (both in terms of experience and age) artist who has played leading roles in various plays for more than two decades (22 years in acting to be precise as his first drama Uroosa was in 1992 but he was into modelling since 1990-91). Recently drama Maat having Adnan Siddiqi in leading role is aired on Zindagi channel in India, which introduced this senior Pakistani artist to indian audience. Adnan is also interviewed by Press Trust of India which is shared below. Adnan’s interview by Indian press is continuation of series of interviews which Indian press is doing once a drama is aired on Zindagi. Earlier Sanam Saeed, Umera Ahmed, Samina Peerzada, Osman Khalid Butt and few others are also interviewed by Indian press after successful launch of their dramas.

Actor Adnan Siddiqui, who has impressed the Indian audience with his performance in TV soap ‘Maat’, says that Pakistani dramas are as big as Indian films in terms of quality and popularity.

The actor, who is now seen on ‘Mere Qatil Mere Dildar’ on Zindagi and has been a part of many successful dramas back at home, feels storytelling in Pakistani serials is at par with that of Bollywood.

“Our dramas match Indian movies. We tell the story in a similar manner like filmmakers in India do. Our main focus is the content and it is no less that of Bollywood. We put emphasis on the script and performances. Indian directors make wonderful stuff and Pakistani dramas match that quality,” Siddiqui told PTI over phone from Karachi.

The 44-year-old actor feels Indian soaps on the other hand need to grow out of saas-bahu stories and be more realistic, like Pakistani serials.

“There was a time when Indian soaps had an amazing fan following in Pakistan. That is still there to some extent, but I think there should be more realistic serials, the stories, direction, everything needs to move on from the old stuff, according to me,” he said.

The actor says he wants to act in Bollywood but is not desperate to be a part of Hindi films.

“I would love to do a Bollywood film but I will not approach people for work in India. In fact, once I was asked to give an audition for the role of a villain in a Hindi film. I was shocked because in my 22 years of acting career, I have never given any audition or test in Pakistan,” Siddiqui said.

“Look at Fawad Khan or Ali Zafar; they have become popular in India because people have recognised their talent. Indians have an eye for talent. I feel they don’t waste any opportunity in grabbing a good actor,” he added.

Siddiqui plays a villainous character in ‘Mere Qatil Mere Dildar’ and is glad that the Indian audience will see him in a different avatar.

“People will see my versatility as a performer and I only wanted that. I have never played a villain before ‘Mere Qatil Mere Dildar’ so it was a challenge but I enjoyed,” the actor said.
