An interview with Meesha Shafi

0

Meesha Shafi is a talented name in Pakistan Film fraternity. She is a model, an actor, a singer and a famous face of Pakistan. She is proud daughter of Saba Hameed. She has been interviewed to reveal the artistic side of her personality and here is what she has to say.

Untitled

Where were you schooled?

I went to the Toddlers’ Academy for preschool and then Lahore Grammar School till I gave my A levels and graduated from there.

Were you involved in any sports during your school days?

I was extremely athletic throughout school. I’m very passionate about a lot of sports and love exercise and being physically active. I was on pretty much every team and was a competitive swimmer and a gold medalist in diving.

How were you approached to represent L’oreal Paris as the official spokesperson in Pakistan? What factors did you consider in making this decision, if any?

It was a very easy decision to make. I admire and respect what L’oreal Paris stands for. Their image and philosophy are something I am proud to be a spokesperson for because I too believe that beauty is more than just what you see, it is about substance, talent, accomplishment and doing all with grace and self assurance.” Because you’re worth it”

After being chosen out of a population of 170 million people to represent the World’s leading beauty brand, do you feel you have come a long way in your profession?

I definitely feel extremely flattered. It gives me great pride to represent the world’s largest beauty brand and to know that they chose me to communicate to thousands of beautiful women across the country. Yes, I most certainly feel that I’ve come a long way. This is a huge and very exciting achievement.

Tell us a bit about your work as a model and a musician?

As a model, I have set standards for myself from day one. There is a lot of work I say no to. I don’t want to compromise on quality. I’ve tried to do consistently outstanding projects, be it print, ramp or commercial work. Up until now, I can safely say that I look back at the work I’ve done and am proud of it. No regrets. It’s not easy to do, because nobody likes saying no to money and work. But my standards are something I do not compromise on. Music is a brand new horizon for me. I am loving the feedback and appreciation so far. The first album with Overload is full of chances. We produced, wrote and released what we as artists like. The response has been overwhelming. Again, we didn’t think too much about what sells and what would be commercially desirable. Instead, we followed strict quality and aesthetic control and made music we believe in.

How difficult is it in your opinion to balance your personal life with your professional life, as sometimes it can be difficult for a working woman?

It works like clockwork for me. I have grown up watching a mother who runs an excellent household, is a big, successful celebrity and she takes all challenges in her stride. All you need is a little support and I am now married into a very encouraging and understanding family. I’ve been lucky to learn from the best and end up in a family full of artists just like my own.

What defines beauty and glamour in your opinion?

Grace and dignity. A woman who goes through life with poise and charm, all the while hurdling the obstacles that come her way, is beautiful. Glamour is the perfect sugar-coating that any beautiful woman has the right to don herself with. Dressing up, makeup, hair, colour, scents, all these are a woman’s territory. When done well, a glamorous woman is a spectacular sight.
Beauty has very few boundaries; everyone is beautiful in one way or another. Some people can be beautiful to me just for the way they think, what they have to say or how they treat those around them. Other than physical beauty, there are many ways to win the hearts of people. Glamour on the other hand, does have a lot to do with style, whether it be understated or very out there. It has to do with what you are expressing through being very elaborate or polished in your appearance, be it your face, the clothes you wear or even just the way you carry yourself through a crowd. But with glamour, I feel you have to have a certain degree of self awareness and a grounded sense of what works for you, since being glamorous is rarely subtle, it can quite often go horribly wrong.

How do you feel being part of L’oreal Paris?

It’s extremely flattering to be approached by such a prestigious company, to be part of a list of beautiful, dynamic and highly talented names from around the world. I’m thrilled to be one of the first brand spokespeople from Pakistan. It’s a big honour and an association that I’m immensely proud of.

Do you have any personal goals you hope to achieve by being the brand spokesperson for L’oreal Paris, how do you want to utilise this platform?

I would love to use this opportunity to help people become more confident about how they look, beauty is all about enjoying what God has given you, feeling good, being positive and surrounding each other with happy vibes. L’oreal Paris is a brand which celebrates beauty and gives everyone a chance to feel good, look good and think well. Through their constant innovation and hundreds of patented breakthroughs, they bring you closer to realising what works for you, giving you customised care and thousands of options for your needs. I want to bring their message of celebrating beauty at any age, any colour and in every human being to the masses. Because You Are Worth It!

What is the most thrilling or challenging aspect of being part of the largest cosmetic and beauty brand in the world?

The most thrilling aspect of being a part of L’oreal Paris is what they represent. They represent self empowerment, confidence and growth. These are essential for any individual, and with the position of being brand spokesperson for L’oreal Paris comes a chance to inspire people to embrace their inner beauty and the way they look. It’s challenging only because our nation gives little attention to the way the dress and take care of their bodies, skin, hair etc. But it’s a big step in the right direction and I’m honoured to be on board.

To what extent do you think you can represent Pakistani culture and beauty being a L’oreal Paris brand spokesperson?
The extent to which Pakistani culture and beauty can be represented is limitless. There is so much tradition, rich culture, exotic beauty and talent that we have to offer and the world doesn’t have a clue. We have it all, all we need is to promote it, and with a patron as big as L’oreal Paris, we can actually achieve that. As their brand spokesperson, I see the true image of Pakistan as a vibrant, colourful, young nation finally being put across to not just the rest of the world, but to other Pakistani’s who seem to not realise their true potential.

Considering the problems the country is facing today, do you think you can use this platform to send a positive message across internationally?

It is most certainly the perfect platform to encourage the many suppressed women of our country and make them realize their potential. As spokesperson for L’oreal Paris, I hope to communicate to women that they need to realize and embrace their worth.

If you were to pick a charitable cause, which one would you pick?

Most probably CARE. They have been doing a brilliant job for so many years educating and helping the less fortunate. I’m a big fan. And what our people need first and foremost, is good schooling.

You have garnered so much success and acclaim in your field, what would your message be for the young women of our country?

Believe in yourself, but don’t ever compromise on your dignity or principals. If people around you are holding you back from something you know you’re good at, do not give in. Life is bigger than what your boyfriend likes or dislikes and what your parents want you to be. If you have a talent or potential to excel in something, don’t care what people say. But remember, work is work. It is trying, tiring, difficult and frustrating. No shortcuts. That is, if you want to stand out.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 14!

0

Good that the story is moving forward but not happy about where it is going. It may get rational but what I don’t understand is a bunch of manipulative skanks shown in this drama, I mean is it really necessary that everyone has to be manipulative?

All this while I thought Rehbar would avenge for going bankrupt but he seems to have forgotten about it quite conveniently. I thought Eeshal would soon find out that how her husband & in laws were treated on the day of Baraat but she never got a chance of it. Well I think if they show something of that sort it means that the things will eventually be told when it requires but surprisingly Eeshal never got to know of it. I think to make things secrets is quite lousy & all that not-telling-the-truth manner does not help either. I just want to understand does it really happen? Clearly our dramas these days are based on the ‘so-called’ reality so how is it possible that no one gets to know what’s happening in this drama, with them or with people around them?

Eeshal’s character was ONE positive thing in the drama but sadly it has come down to a point where she seems totally immature. I think she was good enough initially when she had enough of a mind to see things through but sadly she has stopped doing it. All I see is her whining & running to her Daddy for how she is growing out of that marriage. I don’t even agree with Arez for being rude to her because he knows where she comes from & he has expected & seen her do every thing be it dealing with her cunning in-laws or doing the household chores which she never did before but when it comes to her family, Arez is being mean & doesn’t want to extend the respect or be considerate in dealing with her or her family even though he knows Eeshal only expects that.

I quite don’t understand that in Eeshal’s home…does no one really hear the door bell? Because every time if someone comes or leaves, no one finds out about it. Eeshal already had a loud spat with Arez in her home but later when she was walking in the lawn, we saw the dumbest Eva come asking her when did she arrive. Similarly when Arez’s mom & sister came to meet her, Eeshal never showed up. I am wondering how big or sound-proof their home is, or may be they lack basic ethics to show up whenever a guests comes to their house.

I thought the decency of the show would stay intact but sorry Eeshal’s father & his plans are downright ridiculous & beyond anyone’s imagination. No father of a pregger’s daughter would plan something so hideous just because he detests the choices made by his daughter. It is just so not on. Even Arez comes across as a guy without spine because he knows his wife’s expecting & still he has left her to be on her own. Rehbar may be trying to patch things up between them but still it was useless given the rigidness both Eeshal & Arez have shown.

To me every single person in this drama looks like someone else’s puppet. Eva is Rehbar’s. Shoaib is Eeshal’s father’s. Soni’s mother is her puppet. Eeshal is also a puppet of her father. Soni’s a puppet of Sunny. Get a life people & show some minds of your own.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Shooting of film Bin Roye Aansoo completed in USA

Humayun Saeed has returned back to Pakistan after a one and half month long trip of USA. Print media was constantly reporting that Humayun is taking part in shooting of his home production film ‘Man of the Match’. On return to Pakistan Humayun has confirmed shooting of the film, but the film name is ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’ instead of ‘Man of the Match’. Also Bin Roye Aansoo is produced by Sultana Siddiqi not by Humayun Saeed.

Humayun further cleared that preparation for his home production ‘Afraatafri’ is in progress and its shooting will commence next year in Bangkok, Thailand. ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’ is a famous novel written by Farhat Ishtiaq who earlier wrote the block buster drama Humsafar. It is also adapted for a drama with same name by Hum TV. Reviewit has already reported that alongwith drama Bin Roye Aansoo will be also be released as a film and same has been now confirmed by Humayun Saeed. Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 2

0

This episode belonged to Mansha Pasha; she owns the character she is playing completely. I actually wanted to fast forward the rest of the scenes just to watch her outshine every other character and actor in the play. Honestly speaking, I never thought she would impress me with her acting the way she has; her performance comes as a very pleasant surprise and her scenes are a breath of fresh air. You can’t help but laugh at all that Aalia has to say. I must add that the dialogues are very witty too but maybe they wouldn’t have been given so much meaning if someone else was performing this character. Kudos to Mansha Pasha for embodying this role perfectly and putting in her best in it.

Now coming to our heroine Romaissa; Sanam Jung has the most innocent face and eyes that can make your heart melt. Romaissa is the dream girl of every young man because she is pretty and of course very docile. But Romaissa is not the kind of girl who will agree to everything that her khala asks her to do and neither does she underestimate her abilities. She refuses to work in a factory because she knows that she is capable of much more. Even though Aalia keeps on telling her that she has “ustani” written all over her face!

msksh2

The viewers were introduced to Nabeel’s family today. Nabeel is the generous, hardworking son who is the apple of his parents’ eye. Mikaal played a similar character in Mirat-ul-Uroos as well. The introduction to Nabeel’s character could have been slightly better. There were times when I thought that every conversation was forcefully being directed towards Nabeel but I guess that could not be helped. Zeeshan’s (Adeel Hussain) wife wants Nabeel to marry one of her friends probably because of the same reason that everyone else wants to be in Nabeel’s good books! The whole car issue was blown out of proportion and yes that reminded me of Mirat-ul-Uroos too! Nabeel seemed to be the only “useful” person in the family.

msksh5

Farah Shah was not as loud as she was in the last episode but very convincing as the loud, annoying and greedy khala. The khala does have a soft corner for Romaissa and also trusts her with her eyes closed. That is something that was evident from the fact that she did not doubt Romaissa’s intentions for a second when Sajjid asked to marry her.

msksh6

I have to say that I found the loud household of Khala G very entertaining; or maybe it is more like enjoy it while you can because once Aalia is out of the picture, the story will get very serious. Sanam Jung plays the naive girl effortlessly but it is Mansha Pasha who adds colors to this play. Now only if she could stay in the picture till the end.

msksh8

The scenes in which Romaissa thinks of all the things her father told her about coupled with her attempts to watch the morning star have been very well directed and beautifully shot. I really enjoyed tonight’s episode mainly because of Mansha Pasha. But the fact that I have been unable to feel anything for Romaissa’s character other than thinking that she is very cute means that there is something wrong with the play. A supporting actor/character should support the main lead and not overshadow them because if they do so then the audience takes time to connect with the main lead.

The iron ladies – Female Anchors

0

This fact can’t be denied that years have gone when Pakistani females can be seen in some particular areas (dramas, serials etc) on television. Today, women are stronger than before. They know they can prove themselves in a variety of genres, one of the most popular being “anchoring”. I can recall old days when there were a handful of television channels broadcasting current affairs talk-shows. Most of them being dominated by male anchors but then a new era emerged, when women also started to pursue the field of anchoring. Being the anchor of talk-show which is based on the current affairs of the state is a big deal because it involves not only great efforts to compile the research matter but also it is one of the most time-consuming jobs. Nevertheless, our females have nailed it and Pakistan has produced a good number of these females which are successfully delivering their best in this area of Pakistan Media Industry. Some of the most popular anchors are:

1. Jasmine Manzoor:

Untitled

Who doesn’t know Jasmine Manzoor. It won’t be wrong to put here that she is the most aggressive female anchor in Pakistan. She is not only an anchor and a journalist but also a blogger.

Jasmine did her Masters in International Relations. She has been working as an anchor since 1999. Her famous show “Tonight with Jasmine” on SAMAA T.V started in March 2010. Jasmeen has also made documentaries on various subjects and has received four awards for her outstanding work, one of which was the Benazir Excellence Award for Best Female Anchor in Pakistan in 2009. She is a powerful female current affairs anchor

2. Mehar Abbasi @ Mehar Bukhari:

Untitled

Meher is brave and sharp. She knows everything about Pakistani politics and knows how to get to the point. She worked as a host on Dunya News, in a program “Cross Fire with Meher Bukhari”. Currently she is doing “News Eye with Meher Abbasi” on DAWN News. In this program, she interviews Pakistani politicians, and talks about the current affairs in Pakistan. In November 2011, Meher married ARY News current affairs talk show anchor Kashif Abbasi

3. Asma Shirazi:

Untitled

Born in Islamabad, Asma Shirazi has a Postgraduate Degree in Political Science. Asma Shirazi started her career with the media industry in 2001. She has substantial experience as a news reporter and program anchor. She started her career from GEO T.V and after some years she switched to A.R.Y Group. After working for years with A.R.Y Group (hosting current affair shows etc), she joined SAMAA in July 2010 and where she hosted a weekend program ‘Faisla Aap Ka’. These days she is doing a talk show called “Faisla Awam ka” on DAWN News.

4. Sidra Iqbal:

Untitled

Sidra Iqbal is also my personal favorite anchor. She is not just a journalist and an anchor but also one of the celebrated youth icon. Sidra is a prominent television broadcaster in Pakistan since 2006 and has a number of signature shows, productions and momentous coverages to her credit. Her shows have featured a number of VIP guests from Heads of States, Policy makers, corporate heads and celebrated popular icons. Sidra especially enjoys a country-wide strong youth fanbase, who keenly follow her comment and advice on youth issues and self empowerment.

In July 2012, Sidra became the first Pakistani anchorperson to host the official digital platforms of the International Indian Film Awards 2012 (IIFA), the mega Bollywood extravaganza of immense global popularity in Singapore, a project that expanded Sidra’s fans base across borders.

Her popular talk-shows on P.T.V are “Insight” and “Spot-light”

These iron ladies of our media are doing exceptionally well and they are the ones who possess the capability to fight for the right of common Pakistani by showcasing basic and core issues  in front of the elected representatives of the state and trying to resolve them. These young ladies address the real issues of our country and try to fight it. There are other female individuals as well who are trying to give their best in this field but the ones mentioned above have earned good name as well which must be considered as a payoff of their hard work.

We wish them best of luck.

Meera Returns in the News Again For Her General Knowledge

0

Meera has had been in the news often for her not-so-good English skills previously but what comes as a surprise this time is her general knowledge about her country. While talking to media in a press conference, the actress confidently declared Allama Iqbal to be the poet of the Pakistani national anthem which has somehow forced the anchors of all channels to use this news as a resource.

She has been complaining from the audience about the jokes which are been cracked on her personal life, including her English and political skills, she was generous enough to state that she has not taken anything on heart by now.

See this video here:

Meera also lately declared that she hates English and loves her native language only. Apart from being in news for such controversies, Meera is busy with upcoming projects and is really happy with the business which her last movie ‘Ishq Khuda’ generated.

We wish the lady more power but it would be really great if she at least revises the basic knowledge about her country, after all, it has nothing to do with English in particular.

Entertainment Media’s Role in Spreading Hopelessness

0

Presenting something on screen is a way to familiarize audience with certain situations and people can relate their problems with what they see on the screens along with entertainment. Life is a bumpy ride but bumps are always followed by smooth path. Conversely our drama makers seem to have forgotten that the happy times are also part of life. The fact that we step into the shoes of characters and relate with them makes them timeless and unforgettable. But these remarkable characters and dramas which are always constituted by joyous moments of life always accompanied by gloom and sorrows have lately been substituted by drawbacks and demerits of a society.
What we see on screen is a complicated web of deceit, fraud, debauchery, dishonesty, deception and wickedness. These things are rampant in our society and news channels are doing their part of creating awareness of the crucial circumstances, entertainment channels have no need to join hands with them in this sacred task. Contrarily entertainment channels or majority of the dramas are spreading despair and hopelessness in society by focusing on bitter realities of life. These issues cannot be evaded and they should be portrayed on screen but to a certain extent, excess of these sufferings and social flaws are further adding into the depression and pessimism created by news channels. Apathy replaces empathy and resultantly individuals become indifferent to the sufferings of others.

ss

Apart from this dramas like Kadurat and Darmiyan (probably inspired from Revenge series) are setting a trend for a new genre of dramas. Revenge and vengeance has been central issue of many dramas in the past but none has gone to extremes like these two. Dramas are not reality but they are a reflection and representation of reality and they influence people in ways the dramas makers cannot even imagine.

A lot many people have altogether stopped watching entertainment channels as well because we seldom see a lighthearted and easygoing drama. By this I don’t mean comedy shows, and honestly the sitcoms now days are even worse than gravely serious dramas. The realities of life doesn’t necessarily have to be horrible and nasty, they can also be elaborated in the form of loving parents-caring and obeying children, beautiful and affectionate relation instead of sister-friend rivalries, a happily married couple, a motherly mother-in-law for change (the kind of Seher’s is Shak) and what is more endearing than adorable bro-sis relation but what we see is usually are arrogant, demanding brothers and self-sacrificing sisters. There is a desperate need for positive and progressive aspects of these relations.

The happy and content moments also have their stories, it is the duty of the drama makers and particularly writer to dig and create blissful stories as well without spreading despair and hopelessness.

Do share your opinions.

Sneak peek into Atif Aslam’s stardom

0

Who doesn’t know Atif Aslam. He is “THE PAKISTANI GUY”. Lets have a sneak peek into his journey to stardom.

Untitled

Student Life and “JAL”:

Atif attended high School at PAF College, Lahore, where he played Kabaddi and became interested in music.

He attended Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS) to do his Bachelors in Computer Science (BCs).

It was at PICS, Lahore that he met guitarist and talented young composer, Gohar Mumtaz. This lead to performances at their college and at various restaurants eventually pushing the pair into finding a name for their subtly formed band, which they named “Jal” – which means water.

Working together, the pair recorded the song Aadat (with the help of Salman Albert, amongst other established and accomplished Pakistani musicians). It became popular on a host of promotional Pakistani music websites.
The music video for Aadat was shot one day in a warehouse in Karachi. On the base of this one song, “Jal” began their tour of Pakistan—such was the strength of “Aadat”.

Atif leaving “JAL”:

However, whilst on tour, personal problems led to a verbal bust-up resulting in an unannounced and indefinite hiatus, during which Atif launched his solo career. Atif Aslam, after leaving Jal, released a new solo album, Jal Pari (meaning “Mermaid”) which was a big hit.

The Songs Woh Lamhey, Dil Haarey and few others were smash hits on both Pakistani radio stations and Music Channels. As both the Jal, “Aadat”, and Atif’s album, Jalpari, shared certain tracks (such as “Aadat”, “Bheegi Raatein”, “Wo Lamhey”, “Ankhon se”) an unofficial war over rights began which resulted in both sides claiming to possess hard proof to support their respective claims (that, they alone owned the concerned songs).

The hype this feud gave to both Atif and the new Jal was extraordinary and split the musical nation with the fans of each side backing their respective favourite.

Atif’s voice in BOLLYWOOD:

Whilst the drama of lyrics & composition ownership continued in Pakistan, Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt called Atif Aslam to seek his consent to include “Woh Lamhey” in the soundtrack of his new motion picture, Zeher (2005).The song (especially the remix version) became a hit.

This pattern of a slow playback song by Atif in the movie, supplemented by a remix version released for radio airplay was to become standard procedure with Atif’s songs on the Indian market.

He recorded a song for the movie Kalyug (2005), entitled Juda Hokey Bhi – a slight variation of the ever famous Aadat song.

Like with “Wo Lamhey / Bheegi Yaadein”, a slow version became the theme for the movie and part of the official soundtrack, whilst a remixed version was released to hit the radio stations and desi clubs worldwide.

After recording for Kalyug, an Irani director in Hollywood contacted Atif and within very little time, Atif recorded three songs for that same director’s Hollywood movie, Man Push Cart and was rewarded with a small cameo role in the movie.

Atif re-emerged in the subcontinent with a new track, “Tere Bin” (translation: [Without You]) for the Bollywood Movie, Bas Ek Pal (2006). The song “Tere Bin” became a hit in India and Pakistan.

It was also being considered as one of the most touching and heart melting numbers of the year 2006.

In between the copyright war and media war with Gohar ( Jal ) and recording Bollywood songs, Atif has been touring the world and working on his new album.

Atif visited various countries in Asia, Europe & The Americas which include Pakistan,Bangladesh, India, UAE, UK, Canada & America—taking his sound to the “pardesi” (expatriates of the subcontinent) worldwide.

Atif’s new album has been entitled Doorie and has released on December 2006. The songs include Maula, Doorie, Kuch is tarah, and Hum Kis Gali.

Atif’s Passion:

For his immense passion for cricket he was selected in his school team as a fast bowler. Atif cleared his 10th grade in 14 years of age with a distinctive edge that he has always been the youngest boy in the class because of his double promotions while he was in Kimberley Hall.

Atif started his HSc in PAF College Lahore. Cricket was all the times with him. He was in his college team as well where he presented his college in other cities. Beside his studies he was putting his maximum time in practicing for the professional cricket. During his college life he came across with some interest in music. His eldest brother was having a collection of more than 8,000 songs of almost all music genres.

Un-intentionally he was developing a habit of listening to this all kind of music in his house.

As a good learner he quickly grasped the control of voice but till that time he was not interested in singing, his passion was to enter in Pakistan cricket team as a fast bowler and he was right on track while practicing at the net at Shapes club Lahore where Imran Khan use to come and give tips to him for bowling.

The twist in the story comes when one day he was singing with his friends at the college canteen. His friends insisted him to participate in the singing on Independence Day celebrations at PAF College Lahore and Sargodha in 1998. He performed there and won the competition. After HSc Atif Joined Punjab Institute of Computer Science Gulberg Campus. This time studies were much more demanding as compared to the previous ones. He has to sacrifice his time for the cricket. His hobby of singing continued when he entered in the singing competition of his college There were a total of 8 participants .The media team entered atif’s name in the competition at the eleventh hour and he won the competition singing a hit number of “string” “Duur”.

He kept on winning these competitions every semester until he announced that he will not participate in next competitions so that someone else can also win the competitions. He found Goher at his college who was having good interest in Music & was a good, talented guitarist. Together they use to practice a lot and started doing mini concerts for their friend.

Atif use to sing the Junoon’s and string’s song at the concert. The volume of audience kept on increasing. They performed concerts for their college, McDonalds and some other restaurants as well. Atif recorded the legendary song “AADAT” at Mekal Hassan’s Studio. Mekal injected his professionalism in the song to make it worth listening time after time. Atif formed the band and named the band as “JAL” which means water, the essence of life.

The song got popularity on the different musical websites on Pakistan. The song was also being on aired on major Radio channels of Pakistan like FMr within just 5 months of the sale and its still continuing.

Atif’s triumph – inflow of awards:

His song Woh Lamhay fetch him the nomination as best singer for 2005 in almost all the film awards of bollywood including Film Fare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, and IIFA Awards etc. He just got nominated for Best Playback Singer (Male) for his song “Tere Bin” from movie “Bas Ek Pal” for Filmfare Awards 2007.

Some of the awards he has won include: Best playback singer, Best debut singer – Sahara Sangeet Awards (India) Winner OF Best Song Best Lyricist Best Composition – ARY Music Awards (Pakistan) Most Wanted Male – The Music Awards (Pakistan)

He has been the judge of musical shows as well and has earned a good name in India too.

After his marriage he didn’t take much of break and is still in producing more of good musical stuff.

We wish him good fortune for the upcoming projects

Situations That Ruin Our Journey

0

Whenever you travel, either it is abroad or within your own country, there are such situations that end up making your journey a really tough one. I have been traveling in Pakistan and also abroad and every time I see different people ruining my journey. This article will focus on these people, their actions and how to get rid of them. People who have had experiences like me must read and then share their opinions in the comments section below. I have spent a lot of time in traveling from one city to another and I have also been traveling abroad since three years. Daewoo buses, trains and even planes have different people in them who come with an aim to disturb others. Under circumstances like these, travelling is a challenge.

123779-686a40d0-5a4b-11e3-8eb9-1c57f26bd260
While travelling through train I have seen babies crying like anything and their mothers scolding them instead of trying to stop them. These babies not only disturb the people by not letting them sleep but they often make a normal person sick. Continuous crying noises actually result in nauseating others and this has happened to me before. Apart from this I have send families eating stuff and throwing the leftover under their seats. Like seriously is this the place to throw stuff? This results in a very bad odor all around the cabin. I have also experienced typical uneducated boys staring continuously at any girl sitting in the train. This also creates a lot of discomfort. Once something like this happened with me and I was not able to sleep the whole night in that train.

_41348452_paktrainpassafp416
While going out of Pakistan, I came through such families who are fully dressed up. Women wear matching glittery dresses and same colored shoes and dark formal makeover while men wearing a suit. I usually start laughing when I see people like them having no dressing sense. A person must always be casual while they go through the journey. I have also seen men who call the air hostess after every five minutes and this is according to me the most stupid act that I have ever seen before. My point is that when you need something you can call the air hostess but why do some people call the air hostess just to look at her? This is something that disturbs me a lot while I travel. Apart from this there are some people who disturb others by their eating habits. They eat like almost everything on the dish and then they burp and fart. That is truly ridiculous. Once an incident like this happened with me and I had to change my seat.Image-1-Kid-Kicking-Seat

Moving on to the journey through Daewoo, this is for me the most tiring journey ever. The most common disturbing actions during this journey are when some one continuously kicks your seat from the back and the never ending cell phone discussions. The act of kicking seats is common in adults and children. This act is actually done to disturb others. What I do to get rid of this disturbing act is that I point them out at that very instant. It is your job to make them aware that this is a disrespectful act. Kids who are older then 4 years I speak to them directly and if a small child is disturbing me, what I do is just that I tell his mom to take care of him. You shouldn’t be afraid to speak up to them because this is your right. More over there are times when the person sitting next to you smells really bad. At that moment what you should do is that make yourself prepared because this is something that you can’t tell him directly. If you tell him directly it would be hurtful. You can keep a small vial of organic peppermint oil and use it in these cases. Just rub some of it around your nose and you won’t smell anyone else’s odour.

IdiotonCellphone

Now coming to the people who continuously talk on phone in a high voice, what I do here again is pointing them out. I directly say that please can you keep it down. Sometimes an eye contact can also help you make that person realize his mistake. If this also doesn’t work then I walk to that person and say that can you please understand that we are trying to relax here. Remind them politely but forcefully and I am sure that they will realize. These are some of the habits that irritate me while travelling. Don’t forget to share yours.

Pyarai Afzal – Episode 4

0

Convincing yourself to choose what is right and what is wrong becomes difficult, especially when you find yourself deeply submerged into the ocean that flows against divine law.Afzal has finally transformed into Pyarai Afzal not by his looks only :p but his deeds too.. Dair se he sahi,he realized importance of his father’s teachings and his concern for him. To make sure that he won’t disappoint Maulvi SubhanAllah again,he decided to stay away from those who actually want him to be part of dark world. From Rozi to his friends, everyone is shouting – shouting and calling him to join them in but its his strong will and respect of his father that compelled him to stay away from them.

Untitled

Mehtaab Chawla is among those people that are born “Saadai” and his simplicity was the root cause of his rejection by Farah.Even after Farah made it clear that she is least interested in getting married to him,he was not taking it serious at all. I was glad to see Mehtaab Chawla today but he came for few minutes. And during those minutes, All I observed was that he was taking something else to be the cause of Farah’s rude behavior.. Maybe, something about his job or some new business and he is thinking that Farah is down because he didnot tell her ?

Lubna and Farah’s bonding make me feel so good after watching those serials that are all about sisters rivalry.Farah, even being elder, was tensed and confused about her parents reaction on her decision. And the way Lubna exaggerated the situation for Farah made me laugh out loud. In the end,it was Lubna who gave her the idea to use same weapon which she used while refusing Mehtaab’s proposal at his face but failed badly.

2

While calculating all possibilities of their father’s reaction, one thing they forgot was aftermaths of this self-created story. His father took everything seriously and instead of dealing the situation harshly,he dealt with the situation calmly and with relaxed mind as he knew that its millennium generation and he can expect worst from her daughter on being asked to compromise.

3

Khwaab daikh kar agar khush hona ghair Islami hai tou ab se nahi daikhu ga..

So, the letters story was finally unfolded today. Afzal,in cute and convincing tone, made his sister realize that its his dream of which he talks about. Not clearly, but he told that there is not any girl in his life except his dream of having her in life.

Rozi took it as her insult when Afzal ignored her as he knew her intentions.Rozi put lame accusations at Afzal that were supported by Changezi Saheb too, merely because he saw them together in car.Afzal met his comapny’s head(Farah’s father) and justified himself very calmly- he proved that they are all allegations and nothing more than that.

4

I absolutely love the way with which every scene is connected to the other in this show.Haisyet mai larka kam ziada ho tou chalay ga.. magar character or family par mai compromise nahi karunga. . Farah’s father made it clear about his demands from the guy when his wife told him that Farah is interested in someone else.

And then,

Mairai abba ne kaha ho ga k mera beta acha larka nahi hai, match par jooa khailta hai, awaara dostoun mai beth kar chars k cigarette peeta hai laken unhu ne ye nahi kaha ho ga k mera beta kisi larki ke aabroo ka ehtaraam nahi karta…bus yehi aik burayi nahi hai merai mai..or shayed issi burayi k bharosay merai abba merai saarai gunah muaf kar daitai hain..!

On being insulted by Farah’s father,Afzal’s justification was enough for him to get familiar of his character..Afzal left the job because this time he was charged for something that he never thought to do.I hope it will be enough for my readers to predict that how this story will shape up in future.. :P

Farah and Lubna’s dressing always add too many colors to the screen that makes a scene much more pleasant to watch. By far, story is shaping up well, dots are connected up to the mark and we are now completely familiar with the insight of every character. This was another one of well packaged episode.

I would love to read your opinion about this week’s episode.

Asal mein hum log takhleeqi kaam say bhaagtay hain jo kaam kiya huwa mil jaye yaa jis kaam per zyada mehnat naa karni paray ussay chalatay huway accha mehsoos kartay hain. Jesay ab hamain imported dramon ki bemaari lag gayee hai to aisay bukhaar hamain charhtay rehtay hain aur khushi ki baat yeh hai kay utartaay bhi rehtay hain. Isliye mein yeh keh sakta hoon kay hamara drama bohat strong hai, yahan kisi ki chhaap mustaqil nahin lag sakti. Is mein haraj koi nahin hai agar funkar doosray mulkon mein jaa kar kaam karain lekin afsoos tsb hota hai jab hum apnay asal per samjhotay ker letay hain.

Q: manfi roles aapki zindagi mein zyada hotay jaa rahay hain iss kay peechhay kiya moharkaat hain

Logon nay meray munfi kirdaron say bhi itni hi mohabat ki hai jitney meray musbat chehron say, hamaray samaj mein manfi chehray bohat zyada ho gaye hain, isliye logon ko unsay bachanay kay liye zaroori hai kay hum tv ko bator mazboot medium istimaal karain iss say behtari aaye gi

Jub mujh say is program kayliye raabta kiya gaya to mein aam routine ka program nahin kar sakta thha jesay aaj kal har channel per funkaar lagay huway hain isliye script parha to mujhey munfarid laga aur mein nay haami bhar li. Idea bhi hit ho gaya to bas program chal para. Mein mukhtalif tarah kaay kaam karna chahta hoon aur jab tak ho rahay hain karta rahoon gaa

Q: jo ab tak kar chukay hain unn mein say favorite character

NE: mein kaam enjoy karta hoon acting meray liye bohat aiham hai isliye mein nay apna poora kaam hamesha baray dil aur pyar say kiya hai, khawah aik scene ka character ho yaa pooray serial ka sab kirdaar mein nay imaandaari aur khushi say nibhaye hain, kissi aik kaa intekhab nahin kar sakta.

Q: chhuti ka din kesay guzartay hain

NE: family kaay saath waqt guzaarta hoon aur agar koi kaam naa ho to poora din bistar say hi nahin nikalta kyonke family kay saath guzarnay kayliye aur pooray haftay kaay kaam karnay kay liya ak hi din milta hai

Q: koi aisa lamha jo aap zindagi bhar nahin bhula saktay

NE:hab meri shaadi huwi aur mein nay nikah naama per sign kiye yeh who lamha hai jo mein kabhi nahin bhula sakta aur jab meray bachay huway to teenon ki pedayesh ka har lamha mujhey yaad hai

Guftugo kay iss mor per jab nauman ejaz hamain industry ki khoobiyon aur khaamiyon say agaah kar rahay thhay to nauman kis begum mrs raabia bhi humari guftugu mein shaamil ho huween, jis say baat nauman ki professional life say zaati zindagi ki taraf mur gayee. rabia aur nauman kay darmiyan zehni hum ahangi aur aik doosray ko jan-nay ki silayeehat doosron per bohat jald ayaan ho jaati hai.

Hum nay unn say unko chhoti si khoobsorat love story sun-nay ki khwahish ka izhar kiya

Uss kay baad iss nay meri aik dost say mujh say yeh poochhnay kay liye kaha kay kiya yeh meray saath baat karna pasand karain gee aur mein nay nauman ki is tajweez ko mukamil tor per mustarad kar diya (hanstay huway) doosray lafzon mein, main nay issay mujh say door rehnay kay liye kaha

Nauman: jahan tak mujhey yaad hai rabia nay mujh say yehi ilfaaz kahay thay kay mujh say door raho aur yeh meray liye kaafi takleef deh baat thi lekin kahani yahen khatam nahin huwi, mein nay koshish jaari rakkhi aur aakhir shaukat kahnum kay liye aik taqreeb mein chunda jama karti rabia say yeh bhi pooch liya key kiya who mujh say shadi karay gi? Iss per rabia nay mujhey apnay waaledain say baat karnay ka kaha so mein nay unn say baat karnay ka faisla kar liya. Jab main rabia kay ghar jaanay kay liye tayaar ho raha thaa to meray dad nay mujh say poochha kay mein kahan jaa raha hoon? Mein nay unhain bataya kay mein unki honay waali bah okay ghar interview kay liye jaa raha thaa. Meray dad nay mujhey best of luck keh kar ghar se bheja. Meray ghar waalay iss baat per razamand thay key mein apni pasand ki larki say shaadi karna chahta hoon

Q: aapkay ghar walay aasani say maan gaye

Rabia: meray waalis aasani say raazi honay waalay nahin they. Isliye mein nay nauman say kaha kay main uss waqt tak iss say shaadi nahin kar sakti jab tak who koi acchi nokri naa dhoonday  kyonke meray waledain kay nazdeek acting koi mustaqil paisha nahin thaa

Nauman: (qehqaha lagaatay huway) to phir honay waalay dulhay na nokri dhoondhna shru kar di kal tak jo mera autograph maangtay thay aur mujhey chai ki paishkash kartay thay aaj mein unn say kaam maang raha tha. Akhir kar rabia ki naani amman ki madad say mujhey aik company mein bator marketing manager 15000 rupay mahwaar per nokri mil gayee. jis ka injaam yeh huwa jab hum apnay honey moon per gaye to mein nay yeh nokri chhor di kyonke mera maqsad poora ho chukka thaa

Q: showbiz kabhi wajah ikhtilaaf bana

Rabia: main inkay profession ki izzat karti hoon balkay mein nay khud bhi thora bohat kaam kiya hai to mein iss profession kay taqazay kissi had tak samajhti hoon lekin yeh bhi sach hai kay kabhi kabhaar nauman kaa kaam bara azaab-e-jaan ban jaata hai jab yeh family kay liye na honay kay brabar  waqt nikaal paatay hain . yeh hamain time denay ki behad koshish kartay hain , phir bhi kayee baar aisa hota hai kay yeh hamain time denay ki behad koshish kartay hain phir bhi kayee baar aisa hota hai key yeh hamain bohat sey dinon kay liye nazar nahin aatay lekin in tamam baton kaay bawajood hum saath bohat khush hain

Q: shohrat haazil karna zyada mehnat talab kaam hai yaa ussay qayeme rakhhna

Nauman: shohrat haasil karnay kaa baad ka safar zyada mushkil hai kyonke ab rab nay aapko aik zimadaari sonp di hai aur aap nay ussay qayeme rakhhna hai bachana hai aur uss mein izaafa karna hai

Q: bachon ki shirarton ko hans kar bardasht kar letay hain yaa daant detay hain

Rabia: nauman ki wajah sey to bachon ko qabu karna hi mushkil ho jaata hai . yeh to shirartain karwatay hain aur merin bechaari control karti karti villain ban jaati hoon

Q: donon mein say larayee jhagraa karnay ki aadat kis ko hai aur pehlay manaata kon hai

Nauman:aadatan nahin zarooratan lartay hain aur zyada mein hi manaata hoon

Rabia: hum bohat zyada nahin jhagartay, jis ki ghalati ho who mana leta hai

Q: donon mein sey zyada fazool kharach kon hai

Rabia: nauman zyada fazool kharach hain main soch samajh kar pesay kaa istimaal karti hoon

Q: kabhi nauman ki jaib say bina bataye paisay nikalay hain

Rabia: wesay is ski kabhi zaroorat hi nahin paree. Nauman zaroorat sey zayadah meri aur bachon ki zarooraton kaa khayal rakkhtay hain

Medialogic Pakistan to extend coverage of rating meters to 20 cities with assistance of Kantar Media

Medialogic Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, the national TV ratings provider has announced a partnership with Kantar Media to enhance the TV audience measurement service in Pakistan.

Medialogic will deploy Kantar Media’s Rapid Meter technology, phasing out the current DFM (Direct Frequency Measurement) technology supplied by GfK. First unveiled at the 2011 asi TV Symposium, the Rapid Meter has been developed for emerging markets embracing futureproof measurement technology to cope with the increasing number of digital channels. Viewing habits are collected through the meter and TV data is delivered overnight using the built-in modem and GPRS connectivity.

Medialogic introduced electronic overnight TV ratings data in Pakistan in 2007 with a panel covering three cities which has gradually been expanded to nine cities and 675 households. Adopting Kantar Media’s Rapid Meter enhances plans to expand the panel to over 20 cities and 1,100 households across the nation from 2014.

Salman Danish, CEO of Medialogic commented: “We are delighted to have Kantar Media on board as our technology partner. The company’s international footprint, proven technology and research expertise is evident. We are confident that this change of technology, coupled with our panel expansion, will ensure ever-robust, comprehensive TV data that assists informed decision making for Pakistan’s media industry.”

Keld Nielsen, Global Commercial Director, Kantar Media Audiences, commented: “The growing uptake of digital channels amongst broadcasters and consumers continues to demonstrate the health of the TV industry across the world. We are excited to be part of the evolving media landscape in Pakistan, acting as technology partner to Medialogic to enable the measurement of all channels to become a reality. Our commitment to ensure our technology meets the measurement challenges of both the present and the future will ensure that the TV Ratings currency continues to form the foundation of a burgeoning media industry in Pakistan.”

Medialogic will begin to deploy the new technology alongside panel expansion plans scheduled to be underway in early 2014.

About Medialogic Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 04!

0

Ohkay even though we know where this drama is going, it is still enough of an entertainment for the prime time. I am enjoying this drama even though they have offered nothing new in respect to the story but it’s the execution that is making us want to see more of it.

Aiza has totally outdone herself in her professional career & for that matter she has become a centre of everyone’s attention. Be it Saad, his mother & even Laiba’s father, everyone’s praising Aiza for her intelligence & vigilance she shows at the office. Apparently she has earned a lot more respect after getting another deal approved.

Even though Saad has found out about what he is suffering from & refuses to tell anyone in his family about it, it was a relief to know that he has a friend who supports him. According to his friend he shouldn’t hold back & confess to Aiza & Saad eventually planned it that way but sad for him that he couldn’t tell about his feelings to Aiza himself.

The whole scene of Aiza finding about what Saad feels for her unfolded just perfectly. She happened to stumble in his studio & find out a little writing of Saad’s confession. Aiza would obviously resist falling for Saad because she endears Laiba a lot & she knows how much she loves him. Even though Aiza tried to bring the subject of Laiba in front of Saad, he was just preoccupied with his one-sided love for Aiza that he didn’t want to pay attention to it.

At last, Laiba & Aiza’s relation will start declining because Laiba has gotten a heed of where Saad’s getting inclined to. Even he clearly told her to back off because he didn’t want to be dictated & now that would open another chapter of Laiba’s misery which she will blame Aiza for. Even though Laiba is not pretty much interested in what’s going on in the office she still did not appreciate the idea of Aiza getting the attention & acknowledgement in comparison to Saad. Another one of Laiba’s ordeal began when Saad himself took a stand for Aiza & clearly told her that he will not stop meeting her, I am sure she will react because she has always gotten everyone’s attention & her inferiority complexes will swoop in just about starting from now as she is already ticked off with the attention Aiza’s getting.

I believe Aiza’s doing & earning quiet well so she must change the locality of her house. In stead she should rent a decent apartment somewhere because she looks too polished for her current Area. Seems like Fauzia’s cousin Ahmed Ali has set his eye on Aiza because now everyone can see the car she owns & cash she carries, so just like her brother & sister in law, Ahmed Ali too feels that Aiza is the right choice because she would benefit him in monetary aspects a lot.

For me the drama is so far so good. Can’t wait to see what Laiba’s moves would be. Mediha Imam has done an amazing job as Laiba, her acting is as good as she looks & everyone else seems to be doing a great job as well where the acting is concerned.

Cheers,

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 13 & 14 – The starting of a new phase!

0

The story is finally progressing and we got to see a lot of developments in the past two episodes. I simply loved the way they ended one chapter of Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s life and started the other. Last week’s episode brought them closer and there was a unique development in their relationship. As it is said that ‘bad times brings people together’ and this is exactly what happened here.

Aaliyan was there for Qudsiya as he just could not leave Qudsiya and her family alone in these circumstances. And of course, we all know how ‘soft-hearted’ Aaliyan is, and this usually lands him into trouble (we are way too familiar with this, aren’t we?). He went to Qudsiya’s house to show support and ended up getting sick, and then we saw Qudsiya taking care of Aaliyan just like he had taken care of her when she was sick. Qudsiya was not too happy about Aaliyan coming to her house because she has had enough of his kindness to last a life time. But then she was also touched by his words when he told her ‘Mein yaha apke liyeah aya tha’

a 7

Ohkay, so the best part was of last week’s episode was their heart to heart conversation. They finally got time to understand each other. Aaliyan had finally found someone who can understand him and the way he also wanted Qudsiya to open up to him was adorable.

“Ap chahe to mujhse apni dil ki baatein share ker sakhti hai”

a 6a7

She was a bit reluctant to talk to him at first but then once she started talking, their conversation lasted the whole night and none of them realized this. The contrast shown in their lifestyle and how they were raised was pretty huge. But sometimes we connect with people who are the polar opposite of our personality. Here this is exactly the case; they both harbor feelings for each other now, especially after they got to know a bit more about each other. It is pretty obvious that Aaliyan is attracted to Qudsiya to some extent. There was this sparkle in his eyes when he was watching her and this made Qudsiya a bit shy and conscious around him. But then she is too realistic to get her hopes high!

a4

The next morning they both were a bit awkward around each other, and they actually looked like proper husband and wife when they were having breakfast. They both were living in a small world of their own till Natasha came and brought them back to reality. I was extremely happy to see Qudsiya standing up for herself and not acting like the ‘mazloom-bechari’ types. Aaliyan and Qudsiya both realized the bitter reality of their lives and parted ways after their encounter with Natasha.

a8

From here starts the new phase of the story. I loved the transition they showed from one phase to another. It was necessary to show the development in Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s relationship to pave way for the future of their story. Now Aaliyan and Natasha are planning to get married while Qudsiya is trying to start her life afresh too. Qudsiya wants Aaliyan’s chapter in her life to end, but the people around her never let her forget anything. She now has the responsibility to take care of her whole family and she was highly frustrated when she could not find a job because the news of her unique marriage had spread everywhere.

a10

Aaliyan, our very own knight in shining armour wanted to help Qudsiya once again, but she clearly refused to take any help from him. He barely shows any interest in Natasha anymore, it just took one glimpse of Qudsiya to distract him from Natasha (I am not complaining at all!). Even Natasha noticed this and they ended up having an argument. Natasha also got herself into an accident which means the wedding will be delayed now! I couldn’t be happier! Aaliyan also did not sign the papers and he is too dumb to realize what is stopping him. He had found his soul mate already and a part of him does not want to let go of her. I hope he realizes soon that he feels strongly for Qudsiya!

Finally, we saw the entry of Emad Irfani and Saba Hameed. Saba Hameed is playing the role of Aaliyan’s real mother and Emad’s character is related to her. We just got a brief glimpse of both of them in this episode, but we will get to see more of them in the upcoming episodes.

As far as I can guess, Qudsiya will work for Emad and this is how they will get to know each other. I am eagerly looking forward to this new phase in Qudsiya’s life. Qudsiya’s mother had witnessed the huge scene that Natasha had created and now she has accepted the reality too that there is no space for Qudsiya in Aaliyan’s life. I hope she stands by Qudsiya in these hard times!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode, so do comment!

Till Next Week

Best Couples in Showbiz

0

We have a lot many celebrity couples in our showbiz but there are few who are not only a beautiful couple rather are exceptionally well in their related fields. The five best couples for me are:

1. Rahat Kazmi and Sahira Kazmi

Rahat Kazmi is one of the flawless actors in the entire history of Pakistani showbiz similarly Sahira is a flawless director. Whoever is familiar with Dhoop Kinare is definitely a fan of the couple. They have been together nearly 40 years now. Sahira Kazmi an equally talented individual like her husband is not only accomplished actress but director as well. She has directed blockbuste Dhoop Kinare, Aahat, Zaib un Nisa and Tum se Kehna tha are worth mentioning. They both appeared in Parchaiyan and Qurbatein aur Faaslay which was translation of a Russian novel done Rahat Kazmi himself.

Sanam Baloch – A glimpse

0

Sanam Baloch is not a very new face in the industry but it is worth noting that the place which she has occupied in the industry in a very short span of period is worth-appreciating. She has become an icon for the newcomers and it is all because of her extraordinary hard – work that she put in. Lets have a glimpse on her career life.

Untitled

Top actress and television host Sanam Baloch was born on 14 July, 1986 in Karachi.

Education:
Sanam Baloch is a graduate of Karachi University. She has two brothers Farhan Baloch and Abbas Baloch and three sisters Sabreen Hisbani, Maheen Hisbani & Ghinwa Baloch. Sabreen Hisbani is also a well known television actress.

Career start:

Pakistani actor Sanam Baloch started her career with the talk show in the Sindhi television KTN. On Sindhi channel KTN; Sanam Baloch worked in two shows i.e. Sanam Ji Pasand and Diyoo. Sanam Baloch entered Urdu television industry with Fahad Mustafa’s play Kalag. The play was a hit. Sanam Baloch has also appeared in many music videos both in Urdu and Sindhi languages.
Sanam Baloch has been successful from the first day of her career. All this fame was not new for her as she has been popular in Sindhi television. Pakistani actress Sanam Baloch started her career in Sindhi television channel KTN immediately after completing her matric.

Sanam’s popularity:

Sanam Baloch because of her lively nature and innocent face became so popular that people would climb over one another just to get the glimpse of her when she used to go to Sindhi speaking areas like Larkhana. Sanam Baloch was launched by Fahad Mustafa also known as Sunny Tunio.

Sanam’s career and Fahad’s role in it:

Sanam Baloch and Fahad Mustafa had met on the set of talk show Sanam Baloch was hosting. At that time, Fahad Mustafa was working in a play Kalag and he needed a female actress. Fahad Mustafa immediately approached Sanam Baloch. The female actress said an instant no as she was doubtful if she could act. But Fahad Mustafa somehow convinced her to say yes. The play went to be a hit. However, Sanam Baloch had never expected the play to get huge success. Pakistani actress says:

‘The play was aired at night, and in the morning I started getting calls from people congratulating me on my performance! In this day and age when there are so many channels this is truly remarkable.’

After such a successful break in Urdu television industry, Sanam Baloch went on vacation for two years. This was obviously very foolish decision on her part but she says that in these years she grew as a person and after returning she knew what kind of roles she would like to play and portray and that what role to choose, what scrip and director to choose. Top actress learnt to say no to roles that were not worthy. She only accepted lead roles that too with strong scripts. Sanam Baloch says:

‘New people have difficulties enough getting work, but I have been lucky that I have actually selected what I want to do.’

Years of success:

In 2009-2010, Sanam Baloch was hosting morning show named Morning with Hum. But she left it to focus more on acting. Currently Sanam Baloch is hosting a program Subha Saverey Samaa Ke Saath on Samaa TV. She has also recently completed her drama serial “Kankar” on HUM TV which got enormously popular. She has been the part of various other popular drama serials as well but her drama “kankar” this year is phenomenal.

In 2013, she got married to Abdullah Farhatullah. We wish this couple a very happy marriage and also wish to see more of Sanam Baloch in the drama serials

What do you have to say about Sanam Baloch? How do you find her as an actor? Do you want to see more of her?

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Torture Number Unnees!

0

So before switching on the typical tone & mean mode of mine I must say that all the comments & remarks I make about this drama DOES NOT intend to show any disrespect towards the actors (except Mikaal), I truly appreciate their acting skills & for this reason you won’t find any comment of mine directed at how they have acted in this serial. My focal point of criticism has been the director, writer & the editing team because they didn’t quite well conceive the idea of this drama & made the actors act. I have never once degraded Ahsan Khan, the main lead of this drama because I myself am a fan of his work & he was one of the reasons I decided to give this drama a go, so having said that I hope that the avid fans of these experienced actors do not think that I have something against them or doubt their acting, I am actually fed up with the CHARACTERS & not the ACTORS, so now I hope my rants come across a bit more clearly & unbiased!

Accha jee, Areeba ma’am who previously saw Arham literally with Narmeen’s dupatta in his hands never judged or doubted him & in fact she was the one who covered for him in front of Shakeel uncle back then but just now when she saw them standing together that too at enough of a distance where humanly it was impossible to hear what they both were talking about, Areeba had a fit of pagal-pan & she packed the suitcase which already had the clothes & despite the fact that she couldn’t really lock it she still managed to leave. According to Areeba what triggered the inner mosquito in her was the idea that Arham had loved Narmeen & still does, I mean c’mon lady, he was once engaged to Narmeen so wasn’t it clear to you that they had loved eachother before? I pitied Arham because I feel he has not at all given any reasons to Areeba to actually doubt him but still like I say she has a tinsy bit of an IQ therefore, she failed to understand her iklota husband. Well Areeba admitted in her weak moments that she FAILED an academic exam so yeah, what can we expect from a below-average student? LOL!

All this while she kept on telling her father that she came to spend time with him but still she was seen running away from him. Areeba’s papa was too busy imitating The Justin Bieber hairstyle that he forgot to check the look in her eyes that she was actually unhappy. I mean in the 19th episode they dared thinking there was a room left for any more unpleasant character where they introduced Areeba’s friend with a dukhi kahani. What new things did she tell or say to Areeba which Areeba couldn’tve found in Akhbar-e-Jahaan’s Teen Aurtain, Teen Kahaniyaan? If she wanted to learn a lesson she could’ve just read any of the stories & got hold of what she had to do in her life, it was as simple as that.

I don’t know why but during the whole episode I kept on giggling & what’s more funny was Shakeel Uncle calling Arham pagal kutta, LOL, I want to know if Arham heard that, what would he say? Awww what an awesome job done by the dialogue writer, hahhaha. Was it just me or actually Shakeel uncle’s phone conversation sounded extermely forced, funny, one-sided & acting-less? He looked just so awkward & totally like someone who was talking to himself & what’s more awkward was his position in which he sat on the bed & spoke on the phone (to himself). Oh Man! Things Arham has done to his family where his brother has become a din ka chimgadarh, his mother ran away & father is talking to himself on the phone.

The whole pattern of the episode was just so different na (coughing sarcasm) where Shaiq passed on a churutti to his dad about Arham, Shakeel uncle gave some not-so-heard-before threats of doing something inhumane but later panted & voila, everything was normal. Accha, while Narmeen, Shaiq & Shakeel Uncle were having a conversation about who must leave & who shouldn’t I kept on wondering about a gazillion sofas in the background, someone forgot to tell them that sofas are meant to be seated on, so why were they standing? I guess the main reason of this drama was to show this museum like mansion & that’s all there’s to it. Those angles & camera work always focus more on the home decor & not on what’s going on inside as a story.

Narmeen once again has every puppet under her control but I am glad that Samina Aunty left, she made weird excuses & left because I am sure the reviews must be haunting her so she decided to part ways with this hideous drama & while watching this episode I did recall a girl named Sarah, I am guessing was she a part of this drama too? Please let me know because I dug up on box of almonds & still am suffering from short term memory loss & for that I give the credit to the so confused director.

I must say that I am going to contact Shaiq to learn the timing he has. He is always there when Narmeen is speaking on the phone suspiciously but then sadly he forgets he has to take some action. At first he does ghaeebat of his wife with Arham & later when Arham taunts & haunts her, he goes around saying wo biwi hai meri as if hum behan samajh rahay thay. Finally Shakeel Uncle came out of his hujra & said he will take action after he finds out what has happened, as if he couldn’t have said all this in around like 8th episode may be? Why put us to such a suffering uncle, humne appka kya bigara hai?

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai k ye torture khatam hoga aur zaroor hoga!

Ranjish Hi Sahi Episode 8 – Tough Times Ahead!

0

I must admit that even though I watch this play with a very critical mindset but I have not been able to find anything to criticize about it till now. Every single scene has been carefully planned and the director has given a great deal of attention to detail. There isn’t a single scene which seems pointless or stretched – now that is very rare especially when you consider the fact that there is a lot of talking in the play. The pace of the play remains smooth and the picture quality is beyond impressive. The bright colors definitely make this play a visual treat.

Tonight’s episode focused on showing the repercussions of Kamal and Yumna’s impulsive decision. The interesting aspect of this episode was that it was almost as if Yumna and Kamal had changed roles. Until the last episode Kamal Hassan was totally in control of things but in this episode when he had to face the music his confidence was somewhat shaky. Yumna on the other hand was more confident after the Nikah, maybe because she knows that there was no turning back now. For the first time she was slightly assertive with Hiba and informed her daughters about the Nikah immediately afterwards unlike Kamal who even with all his tall claims was not able to tell Bilquess and Rohail about his decision.

rhs1
Muhammad Ali’s acting has been convincing enough till now. It is definitely a great start for him; he got an opportunity to work with a good team in his first project and he is also playing an important role. It is good to see new faces on screen. Emmad Irfani also performed well in this first episode. I am definitely waiting to see more of them. We needed new talented faces in the industry and these two actors definitely fit the bill. Emmad Irfani’s voice quality may not be top notch but his dialogue delivery and command on the language more than makes up for it.

rhs6
I truly felt for Tooba tonight. Arsal has the same mindset as his mother. He also knows that the present situation will only create more problems for him and it may be impossible for him to convince his mother. Blaming Tooba however seemed a little unfair.

rhs7
Thumbs up for Maha Malik yet again for mesmerizing us with such well written dialogues and a big thank you to the director Nadeem Siddique for ensuring that every single dialogue is delivered with clarity. The most refreshing aspect of this play is that it is not based on never ending misunderstandings and confusions. Tonight when Arsal saw Kamal in Tooba’s house, I was expecting that it may lead to creating misunderstandings between the two that will take the next five episodes to be cleared but unlike many of the engaged/married couples in dramas, they actually sat down and talked about the issue soon afterwards. The plot is very strong and so is the script. It is evident that the writer knew exactly  where she wanted this story to go and worked really hard on penning down all the dialogues or maybe it just came straight from the heart!

rhs3
All the conversations today were music to my ears, like always. They were very meaningful and articulate. The conversations between Kamal and Rohail and Tooba and Arsal were the highlight of the episode for me.

Definitely looking forward to another “therapeutic” episode of Ranjish Hi Sahi.

Indian Celebrities as Pakistani Brand Ambassadors

0

In one of my article before I wrote about the increasing trend of promoting Indian culture through the launching of their dramas on Pakistani TV channels. At that time this topic came in my mind that not only their dramas but also the actresses and actors of India are playing an active role in cultural invasion. The brands of Pakistan choose Indian celebrities as Pakistani brand ambassadors and this is where our talent gets suppressed. This article will focus on some of the brands that have chosen Indian celebrities as their brand ambassadors.

315473,xcitefun-elan-lawn-nargis-fakhri
What is a brand ambassador? This question must be arising in the minds of many people who are not aware of this. Actually a brand ambassador is usually an icon or a celebrity who promotes the brand through his popularity. The main things going on in the brand owners mind are that they should choose such a brand ambassador who is very much popular among the audience. This is the only way they can increase the sale of their brand. Unfortunately this is the biggest reason why Indian celebrities are chosen because they are more popular in Pakistan. Advertisements in Pakistan have always been followed by the trends and innovations adopted globally. From 1998-2008, after the formation of PEMRA there was a huge flood of channels which brought about the culture of Indian actresses as Pakistani brand ambassadors.

PR Card- New Veet Naturals
Coming to the brands that chose Indian celebrities as Pakistani brand ambassadors, Veet is a very famous hair removing cream in Pakistan. Almost 70 percent above women use this product. It has a wide range of products which include; hair removing creams, lotions and wax strips. Veet has different creams for different skin types. Katrina Kaif has been the brand ambassador of Veet since a very long time. We have been seeing her in many advertisements of Veet. Katrina Kaif was brought into Pakistan advertisement agency in 2008 and that was when this race continued.

qmobile noir a600 tvc 2013 Aditya Roy Kapoor
Not only the beauty products but also the mobile phone companies of Pakistan want Indian celebrities to be their brand ambassadors. Q mobile is the leading mobile phone brand of Pakistan. They are always in the spotlight for their expensive and glamorous advertisements, bringing the real-wanted celebrities on screen. Q mobile has signed Aditya Roy Kapoor as their brand ambassador. it is expected that the company will surely get a boost in its sales. As this Indian celebrity has been extremely popular after Aashiqui 2 and he has turned into a heartthrob for many girls out there, he will now be seen in a couple movies that he has already signed and will also be doing commercials, which off course are also a good source of generating revenue that is why Q mobile has made a choice and took him as their brand ambassador so that they can get a high increase in their sale.

Moving on to clothing brands of Pakistan, Firdous Lawn is considered to be a trend setter for hiring Indian actresses for their latest lawn collections. Previously they chose Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, both of them have a big Bollywood name and brought about fame from across the world. They also captured the attention of every fashion follower. Recently they have gone for Sonam Kapoor who is well known for her style sense. Sonam Kapoor is a very popular Indian actress and she will surely increase the sale of Firdous Lawn. This trend was followed by Crescent lawn that have opted Karishma Kapoor as brand ambassador for their collection. Also the leading designer Fahad Hussayn has chosen Priyanka Chopra to be the brand ambassador of his brand.

Pakistan is spending a very high budget on such pure Indian advertisements. Since these actors are appreciated quite a lot for their unique dressing and taste of glamour in India and so they are equally welcomed in Pakistan by the common man. It does bring attraction to their brand but is it the right thing? I will definitely say no. Pakistan has such an immense lot of talented actors and actresses who are also very popular but still we need others to display our brands, Why? Calling out on actors from other countries and neglecting our own stars, this is pure injustice to them. We are degrading them openly through such acts. Some of the Pakistani actors have even complained about this trend. Instead of promoting the brands with other people, the Pakistani brand managers should go for people from their own country. Pakistan is full of talent and beauty which is being neglected by its own people. We should learn to appreciate it.

Advertisements in Pakistan

0

Tvcs in Pakistani have come a long way along with the evolution of industry. There used to be very few advertisements but the quality was retained within those few ads. However now there is multitude of ads and quality is rarely given a thought by their makers. Tvcs have somehow become meaningless lately; they at times fail to convey the message for which they are intended. Generally they give the idea that solution to every problem lies in dancing, all the single girls are single because they are tan, all the savings are owed to cell phone companies (they give best and cheapest packages hence rest of the expenses completely vanishes) etc.

Mobile networks invest millions of rupees in their advertisements but are they ads really worth the amount they spent? We seldom see a good cell phone Tvc perhaps because quantity is inversely proportional to quality. We’ve had some very good ads by Warid and Mobilink, Ufone had some of the best but over the years having similar ads by them has made it kind of annoying and monotonous, sometimes people don’t even realize the ads as new.

Sachi-Yaari
Tvcs of cellular companies are most of the time quite annoying, irrational and pointless but the recent few ads are beyond hopeless. The Telenor ad featuring Noor and Ahsan khan and another one feature Babrak Shah failed to impress and make a mark in any regard. telenor-mini-budget-tvcBabrak Shah in fact has never looked as repelling as he did in this ad. As for Ahsan khan should definitely think twice before working in another of telenor’s Tvc (this is his second). Rather in any other cell phone company as well, his Qmobile’s ad is equally annoying and meaningless, he should choose his projects wisely.

Qmobile perhaps spend maximum on their Tvcs keeping in view that they take highest paid actors and models in their ads e.g. Iman Ali, Fawad Khan, Faisal Qureshi, Mikaal, Imran Abbas, Sara Loren etc. and ironically their ads are least impressive.

qmobile-e9-Sara-Loren
According to a rough estimate, Indian cell phones companies usually have half budget as compared to Pakistani’s and they achieve their target to convey the message with double clarity. Sadly our mentality is still trapped in the point that we can sell things by dancing and singing instead of doing something constructive and creative.

meri zindagi kaay baray sadmay

yeh 1997 february kaay aakhri dinon kee baat hai meri film deewane ter pyar kaa aakhri gaana lambiya judai diya raatan picturize ho raha thha. aba ko heart aatck huwa aur hamara saara khandan hil kar raha gaya. abhi herat ka muamla poori tarah theek nahin huwa thha kaay aba ka accident huwa aur unka paon kharab ho gaya. aba ki bemaari naay jahan mustaqil waswasay mein daal diya waheen meray liye koi commercial yaa project chhorna muhaal thaa zahir hai apnay ghar mein bari thi aur muaashi muamlaat bhi mujhey hi dekhnay thhay. aba ki tabiyaat zara sambhli thi aur mein karachi chali gayee lekin aik phone call nay mujhey zindagi kaay sab say baray sadmay ki itilaa di. jab mein lahor pohanchi to aasman bhi meray saath ro raha thha. zor ki barishain ho rahi theen. meri nazar apnay sab saay chotay bhai ali per tik gaye thi jo abhi sirf saat saal kaa tha uss waqt ammie ko siharay ki zaroorat thi phhir mein lahor reh gayee. ammie bemaar rehnay lagi theen. isliye mein karachi shift nahin ho sakti thi. kyonke zaahir hai ab kaam ki zyada zaroorat thi aur kaam karachi  mein thaa. mujhey log karachi bulaatay lekin producers kay liye bar bar ka ticket aik azaab hota lahaza mujhey apnay masayeel apnay tor per hal karnay thhay. mein naay lahore naa chora munnna bhi kaam kar raha thha lekin jaffer, javed, jawad aur ali to abhi par rahay thay aur ammie har waqt meri shaadi ki fikar mein pareshaan rehti aur bemaar theen. mein unko samjhati ammie shaadi ho jaye gee pehlay chotay bhaiyon kaa to sochain lekin unhain kissi cheez mein dilchaspi naa thi. aam maon ki tarah har lamha jaye nimaz per meray ghar kaay basnay ki dua karteen . meray ooper hamesha maan baap ka pressure raha. aba kaay baad to ammie meray liye aur bhi qeemti ho gayen thi. mein unko koi baat nahin taalti thi. shayed unki khushi kay liye hi mein naay turkey kaay khaqan saay mangni bhi ki lekin ammie ko pata thha kay meray liye shaadi karna kis qadar dushwaar hai kyonkaay iss muqaam per main ammie aur bhaiyonn ko akela nahin chor sakti thi. ammie apni bemaari saay larti, mujhay shaadi kay liye manwaati aakhir hamain chor kar chali gayeen mein nahin jaanti log kesay apnay behan bhaiyon ko akela kar jaatay hain, jabkay meri nazrain chhotay bhai per jam kaay reh gayeen woh sirf gayarah baras kaa thha aur mujh saay maan ki judai kaa sadma nahin jhaila jaa raha thha to aisay mein iss chhotay saay bachay ko kiss kay saharay chhor deti

shadi kyon nahin ki

bohat saay log yeh sawal kartay hain kaay aakhir mein naay abhi tak shaadi kyon nahin ki to iss kaa aik seedha saa jawab to yeh hai kaay jin ko meri shaadi kaa chao thaa wohi nahin rahay magar mein yeh bhi nahin kahon gee kay mujhay zindagi mein koi pasand nahin aaya kayee log pasand aaye kabhi meri majbooriyan aaray aayen to kabhi naseeb. khaqaan saay mangni bhi ammie kaay israar per ki woh air force kaa banda thaa lekin jazbon aur jaib kaay muamlay mein thora kanjoos bhi. meinnaay uskaay saath zindagi bhar kaay saath kay liye aur aik doosray saay culture saay aag-hi kay liye turkey jaa kar uski ammie kaay saath bhi reh kar dekha.  uski maan bohat acchi aurat theen. mera khayal hai mayen acchi hi hoti hai mein nay bhi apni achhi maan ki wajah saay mangni ki thi lekin meri shaadi tak unhon naay intezaar hi nahin kiya lekin ab meray liye turkey jaa kar rehna shayed itnaa bara masla nahin thaa jitna apnay 11 sala bhai ali ko akela chhorna. meri khawahish thi kaay woh ali ko adopt karlay kyonkay mein pakistan saay door apnaly logon saay door to shayed reh leti magar ali ko akela nahin chhor sakti thi. khaqan kaay panay problems thhay woh apni maan ki wajah saay jaldi shaadi karna chahita thhaa aur paanch chhay saal baad army chhor kar pakistan shift hona chaita thha magar kal kis naay dekha hai. meray liye apni shaadi saay zyadah aiham ali thaa. bas mujhey mohabbat ka dam bharnay waalon saay aik gila zaroor hai kaay aap doosray saay to har tawaqa rakhtay hain, har qurbani chahtay hain lekin khud unkaay masayeel ko mehsoos tak nahin kartay, yeh kiya hai? meray liye woh waqt bohat mushkil thaa jab khaqan naay meray bhai ki kam umri ko nazar andaaz kiya. mein heraan thi kaay mein uski zindagi kaay har maslay ko samajh rahi thi magar jin bachon kaay maan baap nahin hotay unkaay chacha, mama bhi kahan hotay hain… meri koi lambi chori khwahishain to theen hi nahin bas yehi thaa naa kay apnay maap baap ki nishani ko kesay chor doon. uss ko agar chand saalon kaay liye adopt kar liya jaata to .. lekin khair aisa naa huwa waqt guzar gaya ab to ali bhi mashALLAH bara ho gaya hai

mardon ki nafsiyaat

Actor Shaan Shahid Speaks About Waar!

0

‘Waar’-the movie has broken all the previous records in Pakistan and is still ruling the cinemas with never-ending revenue been generated. The movie has been also released in UAE and by now, has earned a great feedback and business, simultaneously. However, at one end where the audience is loving this renaissance in the Pakistani film industry, the neighboring country, especially its media, is all busy in giving a bad name to the film. Note that, Waar can be considered as the first high-budgeted Pakistani movie which highlights the patriotic theme in the story.

1386595479-waar-dubai

Since the very next day of its reveal, India has been calling it as an attempt to blame India for everything going wrong in Pakistan in response to which, the director and the writer have been justifying their part completely. It is now actor Shaan who has spoken on the matter during an interview with the Gulf News. He made his point clear that like India, even Pakistan has a complete right to make films on patriotic theme.

He said:

“I don’t think it’s an India-bashing film. It is based on the issues that people [in Pakistan] are facing right now.

Every person has a right to be patriotic about his country,” says Shaan, defending the subject matter of the film. “With all due respect, as far as India is concerned, they have been making films bashing Pakistan left, right and centre anytime they want to. As an actor, I feel it is okay, because they are being patriotic Indians. For once, when a Pakistani wants to be patriotic, the whole world has a problem with it.”

Also,

“If a film is made in Pakistan, we are going to give our views and we are going to say what we think is right. That is one problem we are facing right now. It is a proxy war and there has to be some hand behind it, and we can nominate anybody [as responsible for it].”

Shaan was polite enough to advise India by telling it to act like an elder brother and support Pakistan for bringing this cinematic change.

Do you really think Waar has some elements which are been now manipulated by the India journalists and given a color of blame game?

Mathira and Other Celebrities? A closer Look!

0

Mathira is no one but who you want to see, you know? I am turning into a controversial author here for my topic selection perhaps, but I speak my heart, after all this is where we can share our opinions and thoughts with a complete liberty. Getting back to the topic, yes, Mathira is someone who the audience wants to follow. We have been taught throughout our childhood that there are two ways to progress, and Mathira seems to have chosen the easier one. I was going through her official fanpage and was really shocked to see some of her pictures. Interestingly, even more surprising were the number of likes and comments on her each click which represents her followers within the country.

1379779_604720936233415_1249938702_n

Starting off with a mid-night live talk show from a local channel, Mathira started her showbiz career and got prominence for her bold attitude and slang language in no time. Using her confidence as a weapon to polish her over-confidence, Mathira soon earned even a higher limelight by being in the news for her dress malfunctioning in a fashion show. She got noticeable and cashing her as a source improving TRPs, different channels kept on bringing her on screen. Those of you, who still wonder about the family and morals of Mathira, it is necessary to state that she was born to an African mother in Zimbabwe. Nowadays, the actress is busy in India and shooting for her upcoming film.

While the high-rated celebrities condemn indecency on screen, they know their class and the life of showbiz really well and mix out with controversial celebrities openly. Here are some pictures of Mathira with her good friends who are known for their reputation and decency on-screen.

While half of the audience hates her for her roles and nude photoshoots, there are some veteran actors of our industry who still do not mind her company during the shoots and parties.  Mathira, surely has a big showbiz circle!

Besides the fact that Danish Nawaz is good as a director, his acting skills often reveal the spark within him. Watching him with her in the click is really nothing to be surprised about.

Amazed? at least I was! It was lately that Mathira was found calling Shahid Afridi as mentally sick and here they are again, together in a snap.

Jahanzeb Khan is a rising star and whether it be the movie Armaan, or drama serial ‘Rishtay Kuch Adhooray se’, he has managed to force the audience to like him. Here is one of his pictures with a ‘naughty friend’ Mathira. This is how he has elaborated this picture on his official fanpage.

Is Fahad suffering from an eye infection or drunk completely? *Wonders* It is one of the most rotated pictures on social media fan pages these days.

Following the footsteps of Veena Malik, Mathira has earned enough of hatred along with stardom in Pakistan and now all set to give her career a new turn. The best part about this entertainer is that she has something very similar to the audience. Neither she nor they care about her actually. Now that she is in India, I really hope that she do not return on screen with religious comeback like Veena  Malik, because unlike their respect, religion is NOT a Joke!

To me, Mathira is what Audience wants to see her as. Please feel free to contribute your share here.

Hadiqa Kiani – Voyage to stardom in the world of music

0

There are a number of talented singers in Pakistan but there are only a hand full of female singer that have still been successful in maintaining their name in the industry. Hadiqa Kiani is one of them

Untitled

Hadiqa was born in Rawalpindi as the youngest of 3 siblings, her older brother (Irfan) and sister ( Sasha). Her father died when she was 3 years old. Her mother Khawar was the Principle of a Government Girls School. Since childhood, Hadiqa and both her brother and sister had a knack for music, and as such her mother and school enlisted her in the Pakistan National Council Of The Arts. During her childhood days, she used to perform in front of crowd of thousands of people, at the Liaqat Memorial Hall Pindi in various children music festivals. Also music was taught as a subject in her school and she recieved early education in music from her music teacher Madam Nargis Naheed.

She went on to study at Viqar-un-Nisa Noon Girls High School Pindi. She represented Pakistan in International children festivals in Turkey, Jordan, Bulgaria, and Greece, winning various medals along the way. She also used to be on Sohail Rana’s children’s program “Rang Barangi Dunya”; a weekly musical on PTV.

As an eighth grader Hadiqa moved from birth place Rawalpindi to Lahore. She was then enrolled in Naya Aligar Public School Lahore. She then went on to Kinnaird and Govt. College, due to her excellent academic performance, and earned a master’s degree in Psychology.

In Lahore she got classically trained by Ustad Faiz Ahmed Khan (Late) and was also groomed by Wajid Ali Nashad (Late).

In early 90s, Hadiqa came onto TV to host a children music program from PTV called Angan Angan Taray. In the three and a half year long run, she had sung over eight hundred songs for children and also hosted the same show along side renowned music Composer Amjad Bobby (Late) and later on with music composer Khalil Ahmed (late). She also appeared as a VJ for a music charts program called Video Junction on NTM.

Hadiqa sung songs as a playback singer for a musical movie called Sargam (featuring Zeba Bakhtiar) in 1994 (muscic of which was composed by Adnan Sami Khan). The same year, she received various awards for her playback singing.

She won “NTM Viewer’s choice award” for the best female Singer of Pakistan in 1995. In the same Award show, Late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was awarded as the best Male Singer of Pakistan.

Hadiqa released her debut album Raaz (Secret) in 1996. She composed and wrote the lyrics to her first single, “Jeevan” (Life). The album spawned a string of radio friendly tunes and generally had favorable reviews. One reason Hadiqa”s album did well was because it was not common for female singers (from non musical backgrounds) to release albums in Pakistan. Also, she was the first female singer to release a pop album after a former pop singer, Nazia Hassan, gave up her musical career in 1993. Hadiqa’s ability to sing in various dialects also helped the album gain momentum.

In 1996, Hadiqa’s debut had sold over 700,000 thousand copies, a very impressive figure for Pakistan. This milestone came when piracy in Pakistan hit an all time high. She kept on releasing singles from the album, all of which were received well. These included “Yaad”, “Tu Agar Mil Jaata”, “Jaan E Jan”, and “Manne Di Mauj”.

Her increasing popularity was further highlighted in January 1997 when Hadiqa became the first Asian singer ever to perform on the British National Lottery Live BBC1 (a program with an estimated viewership 16.6 million at that time). Afterwards she worked on two more shows with Bally Sagoo for BBC 2 and ITV before moving to perform in the U.S. Her U.S. tour covered 15 states and a show in Canada too. The same year Hadiqa performed on several other international events such as “Celebration Hong Kong 97” at Happy Valley Race Course, alongside other International singers like Lisa Stansfield, Wet Wet Wet, Michael Learns to Rock, All 4 One and The Brand New Heavies.

By the end of the year she became the first Asian female singer ever to be signed by Pepsi Cola International. She was the second female in the world to achieve this, with the first being Gloria Estefan.

In 1998 Hadiqa began working on her second music album, Roshni (Light). The album was dedicated to her nephew Sonu, the son of her older sister, The first single off the album, “Tu Nawa Tu Sada” was released before the album was released. Hadiqa then released a second single, “Inteha-e-Shauq”. The song became the official song for the Pakistani Cricket team for the Cricket World Cup that year. Both songs being patriotic gained favorable reviews, however “Inteha-e-Shauq” was a much better success for Hadiqa.

On November 1, 1998 Hadiqa released Roshni. Initial album sales were powered mostly by “Inteha-e-Shauq”, which made the final listing of the album along with “Tu Nawa Tu Sada”.

Hadiqa’s third single off the album, “Dupatta” was an instant success. “Dupatta” gained more popularity than any other single .The success of the song was attributed to its quasi-bhangra rhythm with fat, funky techno beats and wah wah guitars, and Hadiqa’s “dreamy-meets-husky- vocals”, which made the results “stunning.” In wake of Dupatta’s success, Hadiqa soon went on to be widely accepted as the country’s leading female vocalist.

Capitalizing on “Dupatta’s” success, Hadiqa went on to release two other moderate hits, “Roshni”, and “Woh Kaun Hai”. She then delivered once again by releasing a sixth single off the album, “Boohey Barian” which went on to become an even bigger hit for her than “Dupatta”. To date, “Boohey Barian” is widely accepted as Hadiqa’s best single ever. So much so that it was adapted in TWO Indian films as “Hum Tuharey Hein Sanam” and Dil Laga Liya”.

Hadiqa’s massive success in 1999 was highlighted when she won PTV World viewer’s choice award for the best female singer in 2000. She also released seventh single off the album, “Intezaar”.

In October, 2005, Hadiqa became the first person to adopt a baby from the earthquake. She has named the baby boy “Naaday Ali” and officially announced her adoption decision on Geo TV the same night she adopted him on a live show “Capital Talk”. She then proceeded to announce it in an official press release. Later she was given the sole guardianship of the baby by the honourable court of Law.

Hadiqa represented Pakistan on the 25th Anniversary of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in Turkey. Musicians and Artists from Islamic Countries such as Azerbaijan, U.A.E, Iran, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, Turkey, Pakistan and Yemen took part in the festival. The event was organized by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. She performed at the AKM concert Hall on 23 November 2005. Among the audience were musicians from various countries. The biggest surprise for the audience was when Hadiqa sang “Sanalama” (Turkish song of Living Legend “Sezanaksu”). The audience gave her a standing ovation. At the end of her performance, The Mayor of Istanbul presented a bouquet of flowers to her. After her performance she received invitations for upcoming Art festivals in various countries such as Iran, Syria, Qatar and Lebanon. During her stay in Istanbul she officially visited various historical sites in Turkey and conveyed the love of Pakistan for Turkey. Her performance in Istanbul was important news in various Turkish News papers. She had to extend her tour of Turkey and performed in Ankara and Izmeer (Police Academy)

As an Ambassador of Pop culture in Pakistan, Hadiqa officially performed for various royalties and Heads of the states. She performed in China for the Chinese 2nd Premier on 21st Feb, 2006. She performed for President George W.Bush on 4 March, 2006. She performed for the Crown Prince of Brunei Al-Muhtadee Billah Bolkiah on 29 May, 2006. She performed for Mrs.Laura Bush on September 21, 2006 at The Kennedy Convention Centre, Washington DC. She closed the year by performing for HRH Prince Charles on October 30, 2006, and the Chinese President Mr. Hu Jin Tau on November 23, 2006.

In January 2006, Hadiqa released a single, “Iss Bar Milo”. Although the song was off her album Rung, it was used instead to promote a duo between her and Aamir Zaki. They both had planned to release an English album. The song became a huge success, and its video continue to build on the trend of videos Hadiqa had released. In the video Hadiqa plays a schizophrenic patient at a mental institution for women. Reviews for the rock song were extremely favorable, with people appreciating her acting and her decision to sing different genres.

In Feburary 2006, Hadiqa’s mother got paralized. She is not just a mother but her best friend and her biggest support in life. Her mother is also the lyric writer of Hadiqa’s songs like Boohay Barian, Ranjhan, Mahi, Jogi and many more. Hadiqa decided to focus all her attention towards her mother and everything else came later.

On March 23, 2006, Hadiqa was awarded the “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” by the Government of Pakistan, one of the highest civil awards of the country, for acknowledging her services in the field of music and bringing good name to the country for over a decade. The award was announced on August 14, 2005, but the ceremony was on March 23 2006.

Hadiqa had released another video by the end of 2006. She was featured on UK based producer Khiza’s album Loyal To The Game. The album’s lead single, “Mehr Ma” featured Hadiqa. The song was a massive success in Pakistan and UK, and was seen as a great return for Hadiqa after her ballads in Rung. This was highlighted by the fact that Khiza’s same album in Pakistan was titled Mehr Ma and not Loyal to the Game. In the video, Hadiqa is seen with different hairstyles and outfits. Its reviews have been extremely favorable. Hadiqa also performed the same song at the 2006 Lux Style Awards.

In March 2007, Hadiqa was one of the many artists that were featured in a widely popular track called “Yeh Hum Naheen”. In this song, various Pakistani artists joined to send out a message that people should stop blaming Muslims for the innocent killings of other Muslims. The song also sends out an anti-terrorism message. Other artists in the song are Haroon, Ali Haider, Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Strings, and Shuja Haider. The song had been picked up by international stations like Fox News and BBC, and had received over 70,000 downloads.

In 2007, Hadiqa Kiani released her fourth album, Rough Cut, which was her 1st Eastern Alt Rock album in collaboration with Aamir Zaki. With the release of Rough Cut, Hadiqa became the first Pakistani main stream artist to release a complete English Album.

In April 2007, Hadiqa released the first single from the album, titled “Living This Lie”, a song which talks about the stressful life of being a star. The same week, Hadiqa was named “Hotstepper of the week” for a Karachi based magazine. The magazine also stated that
“Ultimately, as long as Hadiqa is around, there is still hope for women in the patriarchal music world of Pakistan”.

Hadiqa’s second single that was released from the album was titled “All The Same”. Because of having limited audience for such genre of music, Rough Cut didn’t sell as much as Hadiqa’s older works. Many experts said that since an overwhelming majority of people in the country do not understand English, the album didn’t sell as much. However the single “Living This Lie” got nominated for “Best English Song” for “The Musik Awards” in 2007. But, due to the emergency situations in the country in 2007, the awards were called off. Hadiqa also got nominated for Best Female Singer in the same awards.

In August, 2007, Hadiqa was one of the performers for the London Day Parade at Trafalgar Square, London which was broad casted by Geo TV to celebrate 60 years of Independence for the country. Hadiqa was the only singer who sang completely live that day. She was also part of closing the show with the popular patriotic song “Jeevay Pakistan” alongside Ali Zafar.

Later that year, she also released an Urdu single titled “Zindagi” which was a rock themed song about the life (Zindagi) of Pakistani children. The song was released a few weeks after the London Day Parade.

Hadiqa did not perform much internationally as she did in years before, and even toured around Pakistan less frequently towards the end of the year 2007 (primarily due to the state of emergency and the turmoils the country went through). However earlier in 2007 (May 19) Hadiqa performed at Dead Sea Marriott Jordan for 28 Heads of States at the World Economic Conference. During her performance Hadiqa performed an Arabic song too.

Hadiqa performed on Ten Sports Channel at a 20-20 cricket match between Pakistan and Bangladesh on April 20, 2008 at the National Cricket Stadium Karachi.

On 13 August 2008, Hadiqa Kiani’s 2nd marriage officially came to an end.

Later in September 2008, Hadiqa was signed as a Brand Ambassador for another Uni Lever Brand “PONDS (Age Miracle).

In October 2008 Hadiqa went to Mumbai to shoot two new Music videos.

After coming back from Mumbai, Hadiqa was signed as the Brand Ambassador for a Shoe Company “Soul Collection” a Company owned by Service Shoes (the biggest local shoe making Company in Pakistan). As the brand Ambassador of Soul Collection, Hadiqa revealed the 1st reversable shoe of the world called Soul Mirror.
In 2009 Hadiqa became one of the judges for a Music reality show on GEO TV called LG-Awaz Baney Star (1st student singing competition in Pakistan).

Later, on 16th June 2009, Hadiqa was signed as the Brand Ambassador for LG-Mobiles alongside singer Shehzad Roy.

On 17th June 2009 a press conference was held in PC Hotel Karachi in which Hadiqa’s 5th Album (4th Pop Album) “AASMAAN” was released officially in Pakistan by Fire Records (the leading Music Record Company in Pakistan). The same day her music video “Sohnya” was released on various music channels.

From 2010 till 2012 she has been busy in various projects inside and outside Pakistan. These days she is doing a singing reality show (Pakistan Idol) as Judge

We wish her best of luck for future.

Happy reading !

What HUM SITARAY is offering ?

0

So, after much hype created for the launch of HUM SITARAY , we expected it to be genuinely and purely Pakistani Private Channel. Alas! it is among the genre of those tv channels nowadays which prefer Indian and Turkish Dramas in spite of coming up with Pakistani Content. The likely reason of not creating own stuff is that the cost of having their own projects is much more as compared to what they get/buy from other countries and dub them.

Have a look at the new signature presentation  of HUM SITARAY :

Pakistan Idol – Review: Week 2!

0

I must admit that I found this week of Pakistan Idol a bit better than the onsetting one. I know a few bits & bobs were still there which pulled the show from stirring the WOW factor but I am sure it is getting better.

This week the judges paid visits to Multan & Faisalabad for the auditions & some really good voiced surfaced. Before coming to those parts, I would once again raise an objection at the editing team of this show for using Indian Songs at the background to fit a certain situation or anyone’s selection. I am sure there are a numerous Pakistani songs which can definitely be used but to actually hear Indian songs in Pakistan Idol hardly speaks some sense. I really want to feel the touch of PAKISTANI music in Pakistan Idol but just because of the Indian songs in the background & even the Indian songs sung by the contestants, I am finding it hard to jump into the bandwagon of Pakistan Idol because till now it sounds more like Sub-continent Idol, they should’ve at least briefed the contestants for singing Pakistani songs but sad about that!

Another thing that really made me worried was the rudeness of the judges. Bushra Ansari proved herself in the first week that even though she has NO know-how of singing, she is here to revive her inner-conscience as one & she is going to give the contestants a hard time but to add to my woes, Ali Azmat seems to be taking the first place in being unnecessarily stern towards the contestants now. I know it’s a tough job to go out there & listen to thousands of people & for that you really need to keep your cool but at times I really felt that he & Bushra Ansari – both were quite rude & passed remarks which were uncalled for.

I found the Faislabad episode obviously better than the Multan one because in Multan auditions, more focus was on the humorous side & on those people who were there for time-pass. Not sure if they were paid actors or what but I know there are definitely a few people out there who suffer from a disease called ‘over-confidence’, so apart from that a few voices that surfaced brilliantly in Multan Auditions were Gopal Guddu Ram, Waqas Ali Vicky, Nadia Hashmi, these three got the Golden Tickets to Karachi but a few contestants are worth a mention here too. One of them was Dr. Mohammad Usman, who sang different songs with the guitar but without it, he sounded still better than many of them. I still believe that he should’ve gotten the ticket, if not for the final round, they should’ve at least selected him for the next round because he did have versatility which the judges keep speaking of.

One special guy who became a laughing stock was Naveed Ali who even sang the table of 2 in Urdu just because Ali Azmat asked him to. I am sheepishly ashamed to admit that I found that part way too funny & it left me in a laughter fit. That sort of humour was alright but I think it was now wrong on Naveed Ali’s part to actually appear in the auditions. LOL!

Ohkay so Faisalabadis shocked us with some awesome voices & those who got the Golden Tickets were Salman Cecil, Rimsha Noor, Mohammad Aijaaz, Ramzan Ali. They all were good but after listening to Aun Ali who happens to be the younger brother of Amanat Ali, I thought it was absolutely a wrong decision to let him go because his voice was just perfect. I really don’t understand what they are looking for because that guy had a complete knowledge of singing but according to Bushra Ansari he ran out of breath & hadn’t been practicing. I thought it was definitely a loss of Pakistan Idol to let a guy with that sort of a voice go & Hadiqa Kiyani’s remark on him was hideous where she thought he wasn’t taking his singing seriously, I must say he never sounded like one who didn’t take his singing seriously. In comparison to Aun Ali, I thought Rimsha Noor didn’t deserve to go to the next round at all. Maria Meer & Aqsa Rani both sounded nice too but yes their voice was one dimensional, hence, they didn’t make it through this round.

I am not convinced with the judges remarks at times because some people really sound good but are not qualified where as the other few really don’t sound that impressive but they get the Golden Ticket. They do say that they are looking for versatility so I think they must adopt the thing from Indian Idol where when the judges are not too sure of how much variety a contestant can offer, they make them sing 2 or at times 3 songs just to be sure & I think our Pakistani judges are being too hasty in giving the verdict here, plus I do really want to hear their remarks on the lines of technicality but the comments aren’t that convincing till now. Another thing that I noticed was, if Bushra Ansari is convinced with someone’s voice, she would try & influence the other two judges as well but if she ain’t convinced, she wouldn’t let them put forward their opinions too. I think if she is a senior in age, she shouldn’t act like a senior in singing too!

I’m taking Pakistan Idol for review every week because it would get a lot more interesting & I am sure people would have a lot to say about it in the coming weeks too. Do share who is your favorite so far. My favorites from Multan & Faisalabad are Nadia Hashmi & Ramzan Ali.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Political Comedy Shows of Pakistan

0

Nowadays Pakistan is under turmoil. There are increasing prices of goods and crime rate. Our law and order situation is definitely not in control. Whenever we switch on the television we hear news about target killing, bomb blasts, thefts and corruption. People want some relief and they need some sort of entertainment. Under such a situation, some talented people of Pakistan have launched political comedy shows. These shows are a very good time pass. They are not only a sort of entertainment but at the same time they give the politicians and the corrupt people some lessons.

Among these shows some of the shows are very popular like; Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain, Khabarnaak, Hasb e Haal, Mazaak Raat and Banana News Network. These shows are very popular due to some reasons; firstly they connect to the audience in such a way that they convey whatever the common man has to say. Secondly, they add up a humor to the serious issues of Pakistan and it doesn’t seem that depressing as it does while watching news and thirdly, these programs are informative as well. They are an excellent source of information and awareness a person can get. In this article I will describe these shows and I will also tell reasons why I like them. You can share your views in the comment section below.

sajdhasjkf
Starting off with Hum Sab Umeed Se Hain, this amazing political comedy show of Pakistan is written by Dr. Younus Butt. I must say that this man is a genius and sir I truly respect you from the core of my heart and I am a big fan of yours. This show has different segments which include Ek Din Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain Ke Saath, News fuse, B-ads, Parody songs, Side news, Sochna vi naa, Bachey ghair siyaasi hotey hain and boiling point. In this show the main focus is on the poor people and the challenges that are faced by them. Talented actors mimic the politicians and tell them what is right and wrong. This show has been hosted by very popular actresses including; Saba Qamar, Mehwish Hayat, Noor Chaudhry, Mathira , Veena Malik and many more. This show is seen by people of all ages and people wait to watch the show.

Khabar-Naak-Geo-Tv
Moving on to another famous political comedy show named Khabarnaak, this show is hosted by Aftab Iqbal and there are some people who add life to the show by their mimicry which include Honey, Mir Muhammad Ali and Saleem Albela. The main focus of the show is on the current affairs and the political scenario of Pakistan. This show discusses all the aspects of the society. This show features a segment of Zaban o Biyaan where the host Aftab Iqbal who is brilliantly talented corrects the wrong use of our language. Apart from this Naseer Bhai guesses the composer, lyricists and actors by just listening to the songs which are suggested. This is to add an element of joy. The comedians of the show add a lot of fun to the show and an hour passes just with the blink of an eye. It is indeed a wonderful source of entertainment.

Watch-Hasb-e-haal-show-all-episodes-online
Coming to the next political comedy show, Hasb e Haal has become very popular these days. This show has the honor of being the most watched program in Pakistan. Sohail Ahmed appears on Hasb-e-Haal as Azizi, while the rest of the crew Junaid Saleem and Najia are playing themselves. Sohail Ahmed is a very popular and talented actor we have in Pakistan. This show is an effort to raise the voice of the society. The popularity of the show is understandable in a society like Pakistan. This show has many segments including; Adabparay, Baitbaazi, Hasb e Mazzi, Hasb e Daak, Interview, Khabron par Tabsara, Mukhbariyaan, Off beat Hasb e Haal, Siasi film and tu tu main main.

bnn
The other very famous political comedy shows are Mazaak Raat and Banana News Network. Mazaak raat is hosted by Noman Ijaz who is himself a very good actor. This show also interviews some popular politicians and mimicry is done. Apart from this the show has a singing element in it as well. The comedians make the show a competition for the other political comedy shows. Coming to the Banana News Network, it is a comical spin on the happenings in Pakistan. It is a fictitious channel in which celebrities are mocked. The show features segments such as Sports Desk, News Room and Central Studio discussion. In my opinion there should be more shows like this so that our attention gets diverted. I really like all these shows because I do not see any element of show or pomp in them. They are based on realities happening around us and we have to face them. Apart from this I also wish that our corrupt politicians must see shows like these so that they get an overview of our sufferings.

First Look: Fawad Khan on the sets of upcoming movie ‘Khoobsurat’

0

The news of Fawad Khan featuring in a Bollywood movie opposite Aalia Bhatt had been making rounds for quite a while now. However, the news was confirmed a little while back. Fawad Khan will be seen in the remake of the movie Khoobsurat, but the female lead will be  Sonam Kapoor instead of Aalia Bhatt.

The movie, which is said to be on the lines of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s film of the same name, has Sonam playing the role that Rekha originally essayed.

Sonam’s sister and the movie producer Rhea Kapoor had mentioned that they would be casting a newcomer and that they wished to keep that info confidential. But they revealed recently that they had casted Fawad Khan as the main lead. He will be reprising the role originally played by Rakesh Roshan.

They were obviously mixed reaction to this news. Most fans were happy for Fawad while the others were disappointed with his choice to star in a Bollywood movie. Fawad Khan had gained immense popularity in Pakistan in a span of few years and has a huge fan following. Now, he had aimed to make a mark in India too just like Ali Zafar, and other Pakistani actors who had entered Bollywood.

The shoot of the movie has already started. According to reports ‘Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan have already headed to Bikaner, Rajasthan for a long schedule of Khoobsurat.’

Here is the first look of Fawad Khan from his upcoming Bollywood movie:

fawad khan new look

He has finally abandoned his caveman look (the long hair and the unkempt beard) and looks clean and fresh in his new look. He has lost a lot of weight and this new look suits him. Honestly, I did not even recognize him in this picture in the first glance.

t3

I am really looking forward to see how he performs in this movie. I am sure most of his fans would be desperately waiting to see him back on screen. He would not been seen in Television for at least a year now because his dates are completely booked till next year. After Khoobsurat’s shooting, he will shoot for Sultana Siddiqui’s upcoming untitled movie. This is not Fawad Khan’s first movie; he was previously seen in the Pakistani movie ‘Khuda Ke Liyeah’ which had Shaan, Iman Ali in the cast too.

So, do you guys like his new look?
