Tv One’s upcoming drama Munkir is all set to mark yet another drama with a good star cast and a tangled plot. The drama is written by Zafar Mairaj and is directed by Nadeem Siddiqui. The cast of the drama includes Osman Khalid Butt, Ahmed Ali, Nida Khan and Maryam in the lead roles while Mahmood Akhtar, Qavi Khan, Maryam Nafees and Mahajabeen will be seen in supporting roles.
Munkir is a story of Runa (Nida Khan), Zain (Osman Khalid Butt) and Gulzair (Ahmed Ali). The promos indicate that Runa and Zain are about to get married when Gulzair enters her life. Gulzair is a trained terrorist but an innocent guy at heart and Runa and Zain fall in love.
Under the slogan of ‘Aman ki Asha’ and out of the goodwill found within the two neighboring entertainment industries, Indian producer Mahesh Bhatt is all set to present a play ‘Milne Do’, which is supposed to be a collaborative effort of theatre actors of the two countries.
The play basically highlights the story of two lovers who belong to two different cultures and for the persisting hatred in-between their countries, their lives take a new turn altogether.
As per the latest reveals, Imran Zahid from India will be playing the lead role; however, an actress from Pakistan is yet not finalized. Moreover, there would be two bands, each from Pakistan and India which will perform live when the play will tours cities including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore initially. From Pakistan, it is the band ‘Laal’ which has been confirmed.
The producer, while explaining his motives regarding the play, said:
“I have always maintained that a movie or a play can be a greater vehicle of peace than all the lectures we give. Any message, if communicated through storytelling, touches a chord. We are also trying to do the same. This play will be an emotional transaction between industries on both sides.”
It is yet difficult to reveal more about the project as the play is still in conceptualization stages. A part of the story will be rehearsed in India and the other in Pakistan after which the play will be rehearsed together before actually presenting live in front of the audience.
Just after the renaissance of Pakistan’s film industry, it is easy to predict the future of Pakistan’s theatre industry with the examples like Sawa 14 August, Dhaani and now, Milne Do.
We wish the team all the very best for this project,
Previously, we brought you the trailer review of the film, Tum Hee Ho and we revealed to you how distasteful it was. However, a new song of the movie is out and we still think the same.
The song shows a rather excited Mathira dancing in a pool and other areas trying to reach out to Danish Taimoor but he is shown to be a distant and distressed hero who doesn’t seem to be paying any heed to her.
Apart from the song not sounding good to the ears, it is not visually pleasing either.
Mathira’s dance moves will remind you of a poorly done item song while Danish’s choice of work will make you wonder why did he sign this film.
Bestselling author Pankaj Dubey wants to cast Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the film adaptation of his new book Love Curry.
Previously Dubey has produced indie films like Geelee and Naach Ganesh and a short film titled Maratha Mandir Cinema featuring actress Sarika and actor-lyricist Swanand Kirkire.
“I have already started scripting the film and thinking about the casting. As the story is mainly about three boys from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, I want to cast Sushant, Fawad for the two of them,” Dubey said.
“For the female lead, I think Alia can play the part. Let’s see how the casting goes,” he added.
Dubey launched the book on Friday night. The story of Love Curry revolves around three guys from three different continents who live in the UK. It shows how they go through a journey of their life, love and cultural identity.
Though the book is a light read and when asked what made him bring the element of identity struggle of South Asians within a western country, Dubey said: “I lived in London for quite some time for my study and work. I have seen how people are narrating their story of identity struggle.”
He added, “Though the time has changed drastically and thanks to the internet, people know that India is not a country of snake charmers anymore, there are snob people with disinterest and misconception regarding our culture.”
“But at the same time, I do not want to treat the issue with so much seriousness, rather wanted to focus on how these three guys, who are otherwise fighting against each other as Indian and Pakistani unite as one in a western country,” Dubey concluded.
Dubey’s Love Curry surely sounds like a story worth experimenting with but given the political stress between the two nations the question remains if he’ll be able to cast a Pakistani actor. Do let us know what you think of it.

The Moor director’s latest venture Jugnu is directed by Ali Abbas Naqvi. The team just dropped a minute-and-a-half long teaser and it looks promising.
Jugnu seems to be revolve around the story of a young boy named Bhura and his love for goats. But that’s not it. Billed as ‘a fascinating tale of love, loss and selflessness’, the film also showcases the life of a couple and Bhura’s strained relationship with his mother.
Jugnu has been penned down by Naqvi and Areeb Ali while the story is Jami’s. The soothing music has been composed by The Sketches and complements the visuals beautifully.

Besides Moor and 021, the film-maker has to his credit a number of artistic music videos and creative television ads.
So the sequel to the highest grossing Pakistani movie to date is ready to make headlines again, previously ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2’ dropped Hamza Ali Abbasi and included Fahad Mustafa later the cast was joined by Mawra Hocane, Kubra Khan and now the film casting team has signed supermodel turned actor Omer Shahzad as well.
Omer Shahzad made his acting debut with Jawad Bashir’s ‘Teri Meri Love Story’ though the part wasn’t very memorable but Omer is hopeful ‘Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2’ will be a great learning experience.
In a recent interview the actor had the following to say about JPNA 2,
“When Nadeem came to me with this part, he told me a little about it – but what really made me say yes was when he told me that I was perfect for this particular character,”
When talking about playing a lead role Omer said that obviously he wants a movie of his own but before that he wants to polish his skills more,
“The best part is that I get to learn so much. Of course, I do want to (work on a solo lead-film), but all four protagonists in this film are senior actors, so it’s going to be a very different experience altogether. The cast literally brings together my favourite actors together and that would definitely help me grow as an actor.”
When asked what we should be expecting from the sequel Omer said,
“I think this part (of JPNA) is coming up with something very exciting and stirring, I must say it’s been a wonderful experience so far working with the entire crew, here in Turkey. It’s huge, it’s massive and I am truly honoured to be a part of such an amazing team,”
You can always add to our stories but I’m guessing you already know that, comments section is all yours.
The much awaited mega starrer Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 is all set to hit cinemas this Eid ul Azha. Poster for the much awaited film was released earlier today as Fahad Mustafa took to his Instagram and announced,
“Presenting the official poster of #JawaniPhirNahiAni2 #ReleasingOnEidulAzha2018 #Jpna2 #ARYFilms”
Looks like Fahad will be playing the lead man and will be replacing Hamza Ali Abbasi. The cast also includes Humayun Saeed, Sarwat Gillani, Vasay Chaudhry, Ahmed Ali Butt, Mawra Hocane and Kubra Khan.
The film will making to cinemas soon so stay tuned.
The most anticipated Pakistani movie Josh which was released this Eid, is still now in cinemas and as shared before, it was only today that I, along with my family watch the movie and it is really a critical point to define it as either a success or a failure. Receiving a tough competition from the Bollywood release ‘Chennai Express’ within the country, most of the audience who is making its way towards Josh to support the local content has gotten all its answers that why is Josh still somewhere far behind the ratings of Chennai Express.
The promos of the movie spread a different idea where the audience hoped to see something related to the concept of freedom in general. However the movie has its own meaning of freedom in the movie. Let us first discuss its plot in detail.
The story as shared in my previous predicted reviews, is about a girl Fatima (Aamina Sheikh) who lives with her father(Khalid Ahmed) and beloved nanny (Naila Ali),enjoying a high profile living. Being in love deeply with her artist friend Adil, she is in general a humble and sweet girl who feels s for the suffering ones. Her Nanny, Nusrat Bi belongs to a rural tribe which was been ruled by a politician ‘Khan’ (Qaisar Khan) who govern the basti, called ‘Khuda Ki Basti’ completely. Nusrat’s family is the one who actually serves food to the orphan children of the basti and is hated by the feudalist Khan. Nusrat Bi takes a leave from her work to help her brother who stole wheat from khan’s reservoirs. Ahmed though escapes once Khan gets to know about it, but Nusrat becomes a victim of him and is been raped brutally and killed afterwards.
When she didn’t return, Fatima visits her house and finds her dead body lying in front of her. People of the basti, though tried to hide the truth but soon she gets to know about it when she decides to continue Nusrat’s services by feeding orphans. Khan, who wanted to be their god again finds Fatima as an interruption and his people kidnaps her when people started supporting her against the move. Ahmed then tries to get her free and in the darkness of night, his gunman kills Khan’s own son.
The movie ends only here showing Khan to be arrested by the police and the free food service turns into a hotel.
Yes, this is it all! Let me just quickly share the strong points and the weak ones here.
Strong points
Flawless acting by all the characters
Beautifully directed
High quality graphics
Good music
Well-written dialogues
Weak Points
The plot could have been better
All the actors are known for being the drama faces. Seemed more like a HUM TV drama!
Overall maintained a slow pace!
Abrupt ending! Abrupt indeed!
It is yet hard to pass any comment over its business because what I have been keeping in view is the crowd which I experienced in the cinema. Though Chennai express seems to enjoy 6 times more business than Josh, Josh still has its patriotic touch.
‘Istikhara’ will be Imran Aslam’s next drama which is currently being shot.
The cast includes Imran Aslam, Sajal Ali, Bushra Ansari, Qazi Wajid, Asad Siddiqui, Sana Askari , Mehmood Akhtar ,Parveen Akbar, Agha Ali and others. The director is Sabiha Sumar . The producer is Sadia Jabbar.
Now here is the real crispy news for all the Pakistani film lovers. Another Pakistani movie which was released this Eid nationwide ‘Ishq Khuda’, starring Ahsan Khan and Meera, will be making its way to Norway as it has been listed for screening at the Bollywood Film Festival, held in Norway.
More excitingly, the world premiere of the said movie was also arranged in Toronto, Canada before its official release in Pakistan and the Canadians appreciated the work and found the Pakistani content interesting.
The entire team is delighted with the news and would soon be leaving for Norway to find new goals for the movie which had to face a tough competition within country soon after its release.
Meera, who played the lead in the movie ‘Ishq Khuda’ declared the venture as the best movie of her career and despite of the statement she passed that the movie would be her last film, Meera is enthusiastic again to do more films after the success the movie has earned.
It is certainly a pleasure to see our Lollywood movies sustaining the pressure and earning good ratings not only in Pakistan but all over the world.
Every era has its own gem and this one, for sure has ‘Humsafar’ to make itself proud even after decades. Just like we adore ‘Dhoop Kinare’ or ‘Tanhaiyaan’ still, Humsafar is one of the similar serials which would be remembered after 50 years from now onwards. These days when the Pakistani showbiz industry is all over loaded with the foreign content, there were people who complained of the fact that if there is no harm in airing foreign dramas then the Pakistani dramas too, should be aired on channels of countries like Turkey, India and Iran.
It is surprising to find that its Humsafar which is going to be on-air on an Indian channel ‘Rishtay’ evey weekend, that is, every Saturday and Sunday at 8:30 pm. If you notice, this is the same time when it used to be seen in Pakistan, every Saturday, 8pm and the difference of time in between the two countries is half an hour to be accurate.
The news is amazing but not shocking because already it was known that Humsafar had its fans all over the world and Fawad Khan and Mahira are frequently discussed on India-forums (The largest discussion forum of India) where Fawad was also wished on his Birthday. No doubts about the quality of the serial in every sense and it well deserves to earn respect and recognition of this level.
The local audience is over joyed with the news as it has been taken as a symbol of respect that even the Pakistani dramas are no more less than any other drama and in fact, Pakistan has all the potential in every field to meet up the race of the world.
We are delighted with the news, How about you? Share your valuable views,
That’s true. Words really can cast magic on anyone. By twisting and replacing different words, we can entirely shake the interior of a person, infuse happiness in him or make him cry. I have read many novels, novellets and short stories that’s why I know that stories are all about words. People like me who want to write are faced with unavailability of topics. But a week or two back I read an article which encouraged new writers like me to write. They said that it is useless to complain that everything worth writing has already been written. The summary of the article was that ‘The writing style cannot be neglected!’After reading it, a new window of thoughts opened in my mind.
I believe, that’s true! If we have a look at all stories hitherto written, we see that these stories are very similar. Emotions are always the same as they are but it depends on writer how he/she pens them down. Out of all stories being written, only few are liked by readers and get their writers a big name. Ever thought of the reason? The writing style! A story can engross you if its beginning is good. Also, the events are also the same as they are but again, the writing style matters more than anything else!
Simply, we all know how an egoistic person is expected to react when he is being rejected. The scenarios created in all such cases are very similar with a little change of words. But how Farhat Ishtiaq wrote it in case of Khirad shows that she knows where to put which word and how to grab the attention of viewers/readers.
What was so different in ‘Jannat Kay Pattay’ except that writer had written down each and every moment and emotion accordingly? The scenes, the reactions of characters on different situations, the portrayal of every character, all was normal and simple. But what made it special was that she had made us understand and love each and every character from Haya (protagonist) to even Fateh (side character). While reading, we could feel the characters breathing near us. My brother said, there’s a lot of difference between writing ‘she was crying’ and ‘she was crying her eyes out’. Or ‘wo ro rahi thi’ and ‘aansu us ki ankhon se tap tap gir rahe the’ I read a novel of Saira Raza ,a part of which I want to share with you:
“نانا اب نہیں رہے نانو!” نوال نے سر پیٹ لیا۔
“تو؟” نوین نے یکدم سر اٹھا کر سوال جڑ دیا۔ اور اس ‘تو’ کے اندر بہت کچھ تھا۔ جتاتا، پوچھتا، بتاتا، دھمکاتا۔
Impressed, right?
If I would have written it, it would be like this:
“تو؟” نوین نے کہا۔
“وہ آفٹر آل میرے باپ ہیں۔ زندہ نہیں تو کیا؟”
I hope by now you must have understood my advice. Don’t always look for ‘different’ storylines but also look for ‘differently written’ storylines.
After huge success of this Saba Qamar Irrfan Khan starrer the producers of Hindi Medium have confirmed that the audience will definitely see a sequel. Hindi Medium was nominated in multiple categories at the recent Filmfare awards, including best actress for Saba Qamar. The film bagged two awards, best film and best actor (Irrfan).
Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series are reuniting and the script for Hindi Medium 2 is almost complete as reported by ‘Times Now’. About the project Dinesh said,
“We have just finished typing the second part. We are very excited about it. We need to be very responsible for it because now the film is everybody’s. Now we are happy on the paper. Just finishing touches are being put,”
He further added,
“We started writing immediately after May-June last year. It has taken us 6-7 months to finish. We had structured the first part in a way which can help us go ahead with the sequel because this kind of film deserves one. Also, it’s important to do franchisable films.”
Talking about his film’s success, Dinesh gushed,
“It is a very special film. It had this universal acceptance. It happens very rarely and I hope it happens more and more for the business. You don’t know about these things until you are there. But I am really happy with the way Filmfare has backed good content this year. It gives us a lot of encouragement. It will urge you to work harder. That’s what it’s about. I am really happy.”
Will we see the Mitho-Raj duo reunite for the sequel as well is a question yet to be answered but we are being told the cast will be announced soon. Fingers crossed.
Sung by Asrar Shah and Tehreem Muniba the latest Loading Wedding song is lush with greenery. The music has been produced by Shani Arshad.
The song focuses on the journey of a couple, played by Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat, who get a new car. They travel to different destinations and finally land at the protagonist’s house, where his entire neighbourhood anxiously wait for him to bring the car.
A venture of the Na Maloom Afraad duo — director Nabeel Qureshi and producer Fiza Ali Meerza — the film is a joint venture of Geo Films and Filmwala Pictures.
Load Wedding is slated to release on Eid-ul-Azha this year.
We all know that Pakistanis are obsessed with the slogan, ‘Go Nawaz Go’
People are heard saying it in different situations and we have seen people say it and hold its banner during cricket matches at stadium.
However, you won’t believe it but one person brought the sign with the same catchphrase to a WWE event.
Earlier this week, on Monday Night Raw, Triple H came out to talk about his rivalry with Seth Rollins. Throughout the promo, one can see a green poster lurking in the background whenever the camera switches to a wide angle and it says ‘Go Nawaz Go.’
Ever since the trailer of the upcoming Pakistani movie ‘Chen Aye Na’ has released, the film has not received any positive comments. The music has also failed to create an impression over the audience but the lead actress of the movie Sahrish Khan, is still determined for her debut release. She has expressed her views on all the condemnations over ‘Chen Aye Na’ in an interview. She said:
”Critism doesn’t bother me. When I signed up for the movie, I knew what I was signing up for, so no matter what comes my way, or what reviews the film receives, Chein Aye Na will always be special to me. We’ve worked hard for the movie and it will show once the movie is released. Also regarding my career in the film industry, I’m already doing Rehbra, my second film. Although I signed Rehbra first and technically it would have been my screen debut, I’m certain my work will speak for itself and my future once the audience have a chance to see it.”
Despite of all the criticism pouring her way for her debut movie, she stands strong and looks optimistic for the release.
She has also revealed her reasons of singing ‘Chen Aye Na’ and have also disclosed about her character. She said:
”I’m a hopeless romantic and because the story for Chein Aye Na played right on the importance of love and relationships, I signed up for it. I play the character of Ruba, a girl whose confident yet shy, assertive yet timid, and I connected well with it, so yes, I took it up because I felt I could deliver what was needed of me for my part.”
Since Sahrish is from the lineage of Sabiha Khanam and Santosh Kumar, both are the big names from our film industry, we hope she proves her roots and starlet.

The holy day of Eid-ul-Fitr is now a few hours away from us and has been shared with you all, there were 4 major Pakistani movies releasing this year on Eid, out of them the most powerful release was expected by Humayun Saeed’s ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’. Like all other movie lovers, even was looking for some tickets for my family for the movie Josh (and not ‘MHSA’) and figured out that ‘’Main hoon Shahid Afridi’ will not be releasing on Eid in the country. The movie’s release has been delayed probably to provide a clear gateway to the previously banned Bollywood movie ‘Chennai Express’.
Still confused? Making it easier to understand, Indian Movie Chennai Express which was previously banned in Pakistan to give the local content a better exposure within the country has already made its way to the cinemas and is a part of the ShowTime been offered by Pakistani popular cinemas.
Atrium Cinema in Karachi, which offers an online booking service has already set its schedule for the movies that are been released this eid and it is interesting to see that despite of the hype been created about the four upcoming Pakistani movies, Josh, Ishq Khuda, Main Shahid Afridi hoon and Waar, we can see Josh only that is been schedule where even Ishq Khuda is also kept on hold.
Announcing the delay in the release, Vasay Chaudhry, the writer of the movie told the Express Tribune that the movie editor Azam Khan has passed away and the movie is still not done with the final touches. He also admitted that if the movie would have been released this Eid, the Bollywood movie which will now release on Eid would have taken up the market completely and so play it safe, it is better to release the movie some days later.
Let us see which movie takes up the market this Eid,

After Moor, Ho Mann Jahaan, Janaan, O21, Waar, Wrong No. and Dukhtar the latest addition to Pakistani films available on Netflix is Syra Shahroz starrer ‘Chalay Thay Saath’.
The actor took to Instagram and shared that Chalay Thay Saath is now up on Netflix.
This Syra Shahroz, Mansha Pansha, Faris Khalid, Zhalay Sarhadi and Chinese actor Kent S Leung starrer was released in April 2017. Directed by Umer Adil, Chalay Thay Saath also had a massive opening in Hong Kong.
Syra revealed,
“The film is about the different kind of relationships you deal with in life, whether they are with family or friends.”
The film is based around the character of Resham, a Doctor who is on a journey to discover her past and future alongside her friends. The film depicts a cross-border love story between a Chinese man and Resham.
The upcoming drama serial, ‘Begangi’ is all set to release on A-plus. The cast includes Shehroz Sabzwari, Aqdas Wasim, Nausheen Ahmed and Asif Raza Mir in leads. The play has been directed by Amin Iqbal and produced by Sarfaraz Ashraf.
The story revolves around the character of Abdur Rehman portrayed by Asif Raza Mir and his two sons named Umar and Zaid, characters played by Shehroz Sabzwari and Aqdas Wasim respectively. The trailers of ‘Begangi’ are already out and the story looks promising. OST of the drama serial is composed by Waqar Ali and hence it is quite captivating. The release date of the ‘Begangi’ has not announced yet.
Let’s have a look on official trailers and OST released by the channel lately.
The popular TV show, ‘Battle Of The Bands’ is returning soon after fifteen years. The show that has produced two famous bands of the country that are ‘EP’ and ‘Aaroh’.
The official social media page welcomed registrations for new bands 2 months ago and there is no official news from them since then. However, lately Mahira Khan and Meesha Shafi have tweeted about the show as follows:
There is also a speculation that Meesha Shafi, Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam would be collaborating on the show and Meesha’s several retweets also confirm it. There is also a news that Shahzad Hasan will be in the judges panel again. However, there is no official news available about the event yet.
Indian ban on Pakistani artists has taken another ugly turn, in this episode of “Screw You Pakistan” the Baaghi 2 Production team has de-credited Atif Aslam of the song HE LITERALLY SANG.
Ever since the ban Atif Aslam refused to promote the song ‘O Saathi’ which makes perfect sense since as an artist it is thoroughly disrespectful to get banned like that and the composer of the song Vipin Patwa supported the singer by saying,
“Aslam was taken on board because his voice matched the character of the song. The decision was taken way before the controversy started. It’s a coincidence that this controversy has started at the time of my music launch. Which artist wouldn’t want to promote his work? If Aslam has taken this decision, there must be some reason behind it.”
What makes a channel hit is the quality of content been aired on it and most importantly, the celebrities that are seen on screen. After many years of trying really bad to survive in a highly competitive market, A-Plus, a local channel has something spicy to attract some viewership finally.
“Aun Zaara” is an upcoming venture of the channel, featuring Maya Ali, Osman Khalid Butt, Sabrin Habsani , Hina Bayat and Nasreen Qureshi. Been produced by MNM productions, the serial is written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Haissem Hussain(director of Dastan,Durr-e-Shehwar), who himself is an added ingredient to support the possible success of this serial.
The story of the serial revolves around the plot where the husband wants to seek his wife’s attention but the wife fails in keeping her husband happy, though she proves herself as an ideal daughter-in-law for his family. Osman Khaled will be seen in a role of a rich, spoiled guy, which would be a new shade of his acting skills.
It’s such a shame that artists that dedicate their entire lives to the entertainment industry to bring colour to people’s lives often suffer in old age, without any system of financial aid and support. Matloob-ur-Rehmaan who played Zakoota on everyone’s childhood favourite Ainak Wala Jin also passed away in such circumstances.
Now, Ajlal Bukhari (who worked as a child star on the much loved Ainak Wala Jin), sensing the need for a welfare society for artists, has set up an organisation titled Save My Star to help artists that are struggling to make ends meet. The focus is on sports and entertainment personalities only.
In an interview with Express Tribune, he revealed that his charity will collaborate with the Aasra Welfare Society, which was established in 2006, and provide healthcare and education-related costs for the children of those selected. Aasra’s Chairman Qavi Khan, President Sohail Ahmed Azizi and General Secretary Asim Bukhari are all on board. “The project is very much in the initial stages. We are planning to make it membership-based and hold fundraisers and charity dinners to collect the funds.”
“What is important is how those in need can approach the organisation for support. The stars will have to write an application to Aasra and we will check their backgrounds, difficulties and their respective cases, overall. Once they qualify, we shall start the process of delivering whatever help they require.”
“As I mentioned earlier, each case will be different. We will support the stars according to their needs. There is no quota system on the amount of support.”
“Nonetheless, there are many who deserve to be supported; many who have done everything they can to create a sound future for their children but received no assistance from the government. They served Pakistan and should be taken care of.”
Pakistani-American actor Kumail Nanjiani and Wonder Woman Gal Gadot had some candid conversation in the recent episode of ‘Actors on Actors’ and here’s what it was all about.
Nanjiani: So how did you end up playing Wonder Woman? How did that happen?
Gadot: It’s kind of one thing led to the other. I never planned on becoming an actor, and then I had this opportunity where this casting director flew to Israel; she was looking for a new Bond girl. I did the audition, didn’t get the part, but through this experience I was like, “This is so much more interesting than going to law school.”
Nanjiani: You were in law school?
Gadot: Yeah, I know. Thank goodness life interrupts and comes in the way. It was weird because I didn’t know they were auditioning me for Wonder Woman. I knew I was auditioning for this secret project.
Nanjiani: And they were like, “And she has a magic lasso”?
Gadot: No, nothing. I read scenes from Pulp Fiction for the auditions. And then they told me they wanted me to fly into LA to do the camera test. I was like, ‘Great. I will. But what is it?’ And then Zack Snyder, our director, called me and said it was for Wonder Woman. But wait, I read that you didn’t want to be an actor either. What are you doing here?
Nanjiani: I don’t know what happened. Huge mistake. My parents wanted me to be a doctor.
Gadot: They wanted me to be a lawyer. We have so much in common.
Nanjiani: We’re both immigrants. We play immigrants in our movies.
Gadot: We both get asked all the time, “How do I pronounce your name?”
Nanjiani: So I decided pretty early on the fact that I didn’t want to be a doctor because the stakes are so high. Like if we mess up, we get another take. With a doctor, the worst-case scenario is much worse, right? And I sort of fell in love with comedy. From the stand-up, it went into writing and then into acting. The first thing I acted in that I wrote for was a show called Michael and Michael Have Issues. I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is going to be my life. This is going to be great’ — it lasted six episodes. Really, I’ve been in the right place at the right time over and over.
Gadot: I can relate to being at the right place at the right time. I think that this movie, these type of movies, are overdue. They needed to make more a long time ago. The opportunity came and I was just ready, and I was there when it happened, and I got lucky.
Nanjiani: I feel very privileged to get to play, as a brown man, a kind of part that we haven’t really seen in American pop culture too much. I think the answer is that we have to show that there’s no one real image of brown people. We wanted to just tell our story, but it’s been interesting that you see a brown guy in a rom-com.

When the Lux Style Awards were aired on 22nd April this year while there were many who enjoyed the star studded show others were taken aback by Actor In Law’s producer Fizza Ali Meerza’s booing at Ahad Raza’s LSA win for Best Actor.
Meerza, who has hits such as Na Maloom Afraad and Actor in Law under her belly, was spotted booing Ahad Raza Mir as he went on stage to receive an award. Ahad was dubbed the Best TV Actor – a category that even Na Maloom Afraad’s Mohsin Abbas Haider was nominated for.
Obviously she wanted Haider to take the trophy home, given the two have worked together on various occasions and hence share a friendly bond. However, fans deemed this as immature and disrespectful on her part.
People have requested both Meerza and LSAs team to offer a public apology.

Meera has always been in the news for a number of reasons, some right and some not so right, but there is no denying the actress’s popularity in Pakistan. However, she is not very happy with the way this country treats its female citizens. She recently spoke to Samaa News Channel outside the courtroom as she faces charges registered against her by her self proclaimed ex husband. Her case was not decided today but she is hopeful she will get rid of the allegations one of these days.
When it comes to the evergreen star couples of the industry, a few come to mind, and one of them is the couple of Hira and Mani. There was never any doubt about the fact that Hira Mani is an extremely talented host, but after watching Preet Na Kariyo Koi on HUM TV, viewers are convinced that the girl can act, too!
In a recent interview with Mag The Weekly, Hira opened up about her personal life, hosting and acting career.
Hira revealed that although the first couple of years were a little tough, married life has treated her well. ”Initially, I used to fight with Mani a lot and would get suspicious even if he would be working with a female co-star. You have to handle a lot of responsibilities too; media personalities are self-obsessed so you have to cater to their needs accordingly and ignore yourself to an extent in the process. This is why marriages in the industry don’t often last for very long, either of the spouse is unable to adjust. It is not easy being married to an actor.”
Hosting is her first love. ”I love doing live shows as opposed to recorded shows because I am very spontaneous. People always compliment my personality when they meet me. Only hosting can give you that kind of recognition.”
Critics and viewers raved about her performance in Preet Na Kariyo Koi where she played a female politician and appeared alongside Ahsan Khan. ”An actress never wants to do the character of an old person in her debut project, she would always want to do something glamourous. Not everyone can play a female politician, but for me it was especially challenging because I have a very bubbly personality and had not done any serious kind of a role previously.I find serious roles to be much easier to perform than comic roles. I played a young girl, a middle-aged woman and an old woman. As a performer, I feed on that kind of variation.”
With the rise of Pakistani cinema, a lot of TV actors are leaning towards films. Hira confessed that she would love to do a film as long as the script is satisfying. ”I would want the movie to include romance, dance and songs. Many people don’t know that I can dance well also. There just has to be a limit to everything; there is a fine line between class and cheapness that many do not understand.” Hira has been offered a Bollywood movie but she made clear that she is not dying to go to Bollywood.
Hira can sing, too! ”Singing is my passion. I plan to release a song with a video by next year. I have been in talks with a few singers and composers over the matter.”
In Pakistan, the celebrities she looks up to are Samina Peerzada and Sania Saeed.
Adnan Siddiqui will be making his Bollywood debut alongside veteran Indian actress Sridevi. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Adnan Siddiqui shared his future plans and also talked about the actors that he looks up to. “I am in that age where I cannot replace actors like Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan. They are great actors and are really famous in Pakistan. If I want to come in that league, I will be kicked out so badly that I won’t be able to see myself. I want to adopt the formula in India what Irrfan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, KK Menon and Manoj Bajpayee have taken up. I want to fit in that kind of role. I want to prove my metal in that area.”
Adnan Siddiqui said that that he is happy with the positive response he is getting from India. “It’s a great feeling all together when you see your work being appreciated. The grass is always greener on the other side and we also have loved the shows in India. I feel that my contemporaries and I want to produce the shows the same way and give good content.”
Comparing Pakistani and Indian cultures, Adnan Siddiqui said, “We both have the same kind of culture. I hardly see any difference. What is the difference in two countries? I think it is just P and I. I cannot help but think that once they were the same country. There is not much cultural change. People do ask me about Pakistani shows and I tell them that they have two ways of doing it and we have different way of doing it. It is just about the mind and thought.”

Today Ary Films released its new video song ae dil from the movie. Its lyrics are written by Shakeel Sohail and sung by Shiraz Uppal and Junita Gandhi. The song is picturised on Mehwish and Humayun and is showing both of them lost in their own thoughts. Humayun is in the rural fields of Punjab and Mehwish is an urban city, most probably out of Pakistan, but the song is connecting them to eachother, making them dream and wish for the budding love story between them ;
LUX Style Awards has just ended two days back, yet the colors it spreaded are still felt and enjoyed on different social media websites where the Pakistani audience is enjoying to know more about the ceremony and fact affiliated to their favorite celebrities. As expected, the results were quite fair and are appreciated by the drama industry fans all over the world.
Adding a real charm to the Awards ceremony, the fact that Humsafar finally got what it really deserved, is more than a treat for the “Humsafar fans” who are waiting to now watch the airing of 12th LUX Style Awards 2013 to see their favorite drama serial making a clear sweep in all major categories. The drama that broke all the records, achieving the highest ratings, and making HUM TV the most followed drama channel of Pakistan, Humsafar, has won 4 awards in the LUX Style Awards 2013.
It was sensed that despite of doing wonders for the channel, Humsafar was somehow overlooked in the Hum Awards and was left untouched in many categories, not even nominated in major fields. Though the channel handed over a special award to the entire team of Humsafar, the viewers were not happy of not including Fawad Khan in the category of Best Actor. Making his way through a better platform, Fawad Khan has finally won the Best Actor award in Lux Style awards ceremony 2013, and as an added glow, it is his co-star Mahira who took home the award of Best Actress 2013 for Humsafar. More on this, an underrated director, who has always proven his capabilities with ventures like Pani Jaisa Pyar hai, Shehre-zaat, Ashk, etc,. has also made his way to the Lux Style award as the best director for Humsafar. As a final blow to all previous records made by any drama serial lately, Humsafar brought the award of being the Best Drama (Satellite) home too!
