8 March is celebrated as Women’s Day nationwide. Men appreciate and acknowledge women and encourage them for their hard work. Many women stay at home and take good care of their families, while others go out to work and support their families financially.
Aurat March 2020 is going on in many cities of Pakistan. Men and Women are out on roads to demand women’s rights. We are living in an Islamic country, but still, our women are not safe. They are sexually and mentally harassed by strangers or by family members. They become acid or rape victims. They are not allowed to take their life’s decisions. Women have to fight for their basic rights.
People are carrying some strong message posters to raise their voices for women’s rights. Islam gives equal rights and respect to women, so who are we to harass them and keep their mouths shut. As human beings, it’s our responsibility to support and appreciate women who sacrifice their lives for their loved ones.
Some powerful posters from Aurat March 2020 are here. Have a look and share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
An Earthquake with 7.7 magnitude is felt in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. In Pakistan, Islamabad, Northern areas and parts of Punjab have experienced the intense tremors of Earthquake. People came outside of their houses after the earthquake. People are reporting about the intensity of earthquake saying it can surely be compared with 2005 earthquake. Well, initially there were no reports of any damage but now the news coming from Northern parts of Pakistan aren’t much satisfactory. 3 People have lost lives and many others are injured. Many buildings are destroyed. Infrastructure has been damaged in Swat and Gilgit, Baltistan. People are scared. 120 people were shifted to hospital in Saidu Sharif. Well, it was a massive earthquake which lasted for around 30 seconds.
A lot of people on social media are discussing about the earthquakes. Well, Pakistani celebrities are also scared after the earthquake and they are tweeting about it. Most of the people are describing their feelings after experiencing alarming earthquake. A twitter user posted the video as well:
Few days back Zarnish Naveed, a 7 year old girl was abducted in front of her house from Bahria Town Rawalpindi. Her parents heard her screams and followed the abductors on foot but since they were on a motorbike; they succeeded in getting away with the girl. Her family took to social media and appealed people to support them and share Zarnish’s picture as much as they can so the family can find her. People soon after started sharing her picture and news feeds were flooded by appeals for finding Zarnish.
Great news is Zarnish has been found today and she is back with her family. One of her family members shared this picture and we are more than happy. Highlighting the issue helped in such haste recovery of the little girl. We are very happy that social media was used positively by the masses and a family is reunited with their angel. Here see Zarnish is back and she is also hail and hearty:
We wish that people use social media constructively and for welfare of the people in future also and not for defaming and bullying purposes because now everyone has witnessed how a single post can make a huge difference!
Tamasha is an ARY Digital reality show based on the format of Big Brother, the show is now near to it’s ending. 23 days have already been passed in the house and four contestants have been eliminated so far. Now, more and more contestants need to be eliminated till it reaches towards finale. There are many competent contestants but there are five who stand out among all.
Saim Ali
Saim Ali is a popular actor and host who has come into the show Tamasha. From the day one he’s been a strong finalist who plays games with passion also takes part in the activities outside the tasks. In later episodes, he also stood out as a powerful house mate, well he can be one of the finalists. Fans are also rooting for him.
Umer Aalam
Umer Aalam is a powerful contestant and is favorite as the finalist, but he’s hiding behind Aadi’s fame and name, on the other hand, Aadi Adeal Amjad is playing safe and not showing his self. Umer is strong contestant but so far the house hasn’t seen his individual game despite of his good ministry. For Umer to perform better he needs to take a break from Aadi Adeal Amjad and should stop messing with contestants unnecessarily. He should focus on the tasks without messing around.
Mareeha Safdar
Mareeha Safdar is Tamasha’s strong contestant who has been the integral part of the house. The thing that makes her standout is the way she plays tasks but a part from this Mareeha messes with almost all the contestants in the house except for her mate Amna. She’s an overconfident participant in the house and has a potential to reach finale. Mareeha doesn’t need to mess around unnecessarily as she’s a strong contestant.
Saeeda Imtiaz
Saeeda Imtiaz is an innocent and cute Pakistani actress who appeared in the reality show Tamasha. Well, Saeeda is being adored by fans as she’s not so much fussy in the house. Saeeda tries to do her tasks, she takes part in kitchen works too. She is a great cook of the house. When it comes to expressing her views Saeeda Imtiaz doesn’t hide anything and fights for her right and fix the other contestants. In later episodes, Saeeda has emerged as one of the vital Finalists of Tamasha Ghar.
Maira Khan
Maira Khan is a popular Pakistani actress who has been garnering success and fame since many years, well, fans rooted for Maira Khan and they were expecting a lot from her and she hasn’t disappointed her fans and stood out in Tamasha house as one of the powerful contestant of the show. She has been taking part in almost all the tasks and has been fulfilling all the tasks amazingly, especially , in recent episode, after remaining into Jail for two days with patience. Maira is one of the potential Finalist of the show and has also the power to win the tasks of final episodes and finale.
If you think that we left out Humaira and Nauman, here is the explanation to that, Nouman Javaid and Humaira are good and potential candidates but they are not sorting out their destiny in the house. Humaira messes at wrong time with everyone. Nouman is busy in gaining sympathies and he’s playing safe, trying to act as angel of the house which is against the rule of the game.
Popularity and acceptance of Indian entertainment content in Pakistan is an open and proven fact. Regardless of the political situation among Pakistan and neighboring India, Bollywood films have continued their acceptance among Pakistani film viewers and cine-goers.
Nearly all Pakistani news, sports and entertainment television channels give special coverage to Indian content comprising of Bollywood films, Bollywood award shows, Indian television dramas, reality shows. One name which clearly stands tall in this rat race is Geo Network, which started its operation in 2002 and became one of the earliest satellite news and entertainment channel of Pakistan.
Geo’s news channel Geo News gives priority coverage to Bollywood and Indian entertainment industry in all its news bulletins. Geo’s primary entertainment channel Geo Entertainment also reserves prime time slots to Indian content especially on weekends it airs Indian films and award shows. Not contented with all this, perhaps with the urges to promote Indian content even further Geo’s secondary entertainment channel Geo Kahani is specifically reserved for Indian content. In 24 hours of transmission, nearly 16 hours daily are reserved for Indian dramas, where the only Pakistani program of Geo Kahani is the morning show Subhe Pakistan hosted by Aamir Liaqut Hussain. Geo Kahani also airs Hollywood films on the weekends dubbed in Hindi.Geo Super the only private sports channel of Pakistan is also not behind as it airs India’s sports events like Indian Premier League. Geo’s film Distribution company Geo Films is a leading distributor of Indian Bollywood films in Pakistan.
Geo Kahani program schedule
Following the same urge, few years Geo Tv also launched an initiative of Aman Ki Asha (also known as Aman Ka Tamasha) to promote relations with India. Any independent study of Pakistani electronic media will place Geo Tv on the top spot when it comes to promoting Indian content.
When your institution has played a leading part in promoting a trend, then it feels really awkward when any anchor person of Geo Tv criticizes others for promoting Indian content. It is like the famous proverb Pot Calling the Kettle Black.
Just recently two of Geo Tv’s leading anchor criticized the trend of promoting Indian content by Pakistani media. The first one among them is renowned journalist and anchor Talat Hussain who in his show Naya Pakistan on Geo News critcised Shaista Lodhi (of entertainment channel Hum Sitaray) and Saahir Lodhi (of news channel Samaa Tv) upon promoting Bollywood’s film Dilwale. One wonders have Talat Hussain ever watched the channels of the media group he is associated with, if he had how come he never questioned Geo Tv over it, never voiced over it in his program Naya Pakistan. If he feels Pakistan is being culturally invaded by India, then why not name the biggest player of this field which is his own channel.
The second one in the list is the former President of Geo Entertainment, Aamir Liaqut Hussain (ALH) who resigned from his post in protest to the policies of his own channel. ALH was not happy when the news readers of Geo News appeared wearing the uniform of Army Public School (APS) on 16th December 2016. ALH counted this act derogatory towards the martyrs of APS, one of his concern was that the news readers were reading the Indian news while wearing the APS uniform. Though ALH has resigned from the post of the President of Geo Entertainment, he will continue to do the morning show Subhe Pakistan on the same channel Geo Kahani which currently is the only Pakistani content on this channel which otherwise is reserved for Indian content. So if Indian news was a concern, than what about the excessive 16 hours of daily Indian content on Geo Kahani
Again, another example of the double standards that our famous television anchors are known for. Time and again we see such gimmicks from our anchor persons which sounds right but lack substance as their own channels seldom adheres to such rants. Reforms begins from your home, so if our anchors are so much concerned on issues like promotion of Indian content or cultural invasion of India then its better to revise the policy of their own channel along with pointing to others like Pot calling the kettle black. If not then please keep your rants to yourself as we already have enough of such double standards in our society.
Feroze Khan, Sana Javed, and Asad Siddiqui’s upcoming drama Aye Musht-e-Khaak has been directed by Aehsun Talish and produced by 7th Sky Entertainment. I will be airing on Geo Entertainment. The production house has not shared many details about the drama yet. Feroze Khan and Sana Javed have introduced their characters through pictures they shared on Instagram. It seems like Feroze Khan will be playing a rich spoiled character once again whereas Sana Javed will be the girl-next-door. The pair is 7th Sky Entertainment’s favorite owing to Khaani’s popularity.
Seems like we will soon be saying the most famous Khaani duo on our screen. The production house has released the posters of the drama serial Aye Musht-e-Khaak. The posters have somehow given us the idea of the characters arcs of Sana Javed and Feroze Khan’s characters.
The posters of the dramas have enthralled the fans and people are now eagerly waiting for the teasers of the drama. Let’s have a look at the look of public’s comments:

Hareem Farooq has made a place for herself as an actress as well as a producer in the industry. She has given several hit dramas and has been a part of hits like Janaan and Parchi where she was also the leading lady in the latter. Hareem Farooq has paired up greatly with Ali Rehman Khan in her projects like Diyar e Dil and her last film Parchi. Their latest drama that hit the screens was Main Khayal Hoon Kisi Aur Ka which did not garner many positive reviews from the viewers. The couple, however, will be seen together in a film and the poster is out. Their upcoming film is titled Heer Maan Jaa and looks like a romantic comedy.
Ali Rehman Khan looks clean in a suit while Hareem is seen in bridal wear and sneakers. Heer Maan Jaa looks like a romantic comedy. This will be an Eid ul Adha release and looks like it will be able to attract attention. Let’s wait and see how Heer Maan Jaa goes with the audiences!
The leading lady Saba Qamar who has been working her magic in Pakistan with some extremely good dramas is making her debut in Bollywood with her film ‘Hindi Medium’. The film’s recent poster has raised the bars quite high. The latest poster featuring Saba Qamar and Ifran Khan is not a miss and we’re loving Saba’s blushing pose.
The story of the film revolves around a couple based in Chandni Chowk who is trying to find acceptance in Delhi’s elite class. This light-hearted comedy is slated to release on March 31, 2017.
Mawra Hocane has been keeping her fans updated about how busy she has been shooting her Bollywood film. She is trying very hard to make people understand that a lot of hard work is going into what she is doing. She has been having sleepless nights and she also sprained her ankle while she was busy training before the shooting started.
The poster of Mawra Hocane’s first Bollywood venture titled “Sanam Teri Kasam” is finally out. In this poster we see Mawra wearing the same dress which she was criticized for earlier and she is lying down in amtub full of rose petals with her hero sitting down helplessly beside her. Here is the poster:
Mawra hasn’t talked much about the story of the film but she has revealed that it is a love story. The line “A love story sealed with a curse” suggests that this love story is going to be a serious one and one without a happy ending. In one of her interviews given when her first photograph from the film came out Mawra said, “Now that I have entered Bollywood, I have to explore new horizons as an actor. Our people always take time to adjust whenever something new is done and that’s exactly what happened with my shoot.”
Mawra is confident about her work and has been asking her fans to support her. The film is going to be released on January 8th. Mawra is very excited for her film.

Television has played an important part in influencing our society since its introduction to our homes. These days, despite the cyber revolution, television still manages to influence our society greatly. What we see, we believe and implement. Television is a strong force to inform, educate, spread awareness as well as entertain. It also advocates, whether subtly or forcefully, and it definitely affects audience’s thinking process.
Next to news, dramas are what are watched regularly by our people. These dramas are usually family centric and women always seem to play very critical roles in them. The topic I want to delve in today is how are women portrayed in these serials? Are the story-lines progressive or regressive towards women’s position in a society – in our society?
The answer to that, I believe, is both. In the past few years a lot of television drama serials have come out that have empowered women, put them in the position of power, made them more liberal. However, along-side these attributes, they reinforced patriarchal values too. So, all in all, they denounced orthodoxy yet gave flame to patriarchally, as if they can co-exist.
The messages that they deliver are confusing and contradictory. For example, a working woman is classified as an admirable, independent, strong-willed individual of the society yet she is not accepted as part of the society and is treated like an alien. Similarly, a woman is made known to earn education after a lot of hard work and devotion to the cause and she is even encouraged to do so by the writers, yet if a woman has a job better than her husband, earns more than him, the husband feels insecure and this acts as an obstacle to a happy marriage? Should the girl have bothered to work tirelessly to achieve her education when the career she built out of it becomes a problem in her marital life?
The blame of most of the problems in these dramas falls on the woman’s shoulder. For example, if a couple divorces, it is the woman’s fault in the eyes of the society; that she couldn’t keep her husband happy and content with her. The dramas depict this injustice in glory details, making the girls of our country fear the outcome of a divorce and prefer silence even when they are treated brutally by men.
The portrayal of women in Pakistani television serials is far removed from reality. Whenever a man resorts to adultery, the woman is blamed as the temptress; matrimony is glamourized to the extent that the ultimate goal of a girl’s life is to be married and modernism is a bane rather than a boon. These serials reinforce damaging stereotypes about women and project a highly negative image of women. In almost every serial, the implication is that the woman is to be blamed for whatever is wrong in her own life, or even in the life of her family and people she interacts with or is related to.
Dramas, for reasons unknown to me, try to weave the idea that women are supposed to bear pain. In fact, those who bear pain, compromise more than their share, resort to silence rather than raise a voice, show unlimited amount of patience without knowing if it will do any good, are portrayed as the ultimate idols. Why not show women who know their importance, their value, their rights as the heroes? Women are anything but feeble and weak and it’s time our dramas and our society recognize it, embrace it and extend it.
Another problem that I have with many of today’s serials is that they objectify women. It has become such a norm for our dramas that it is now even presented in the comedic serials! Like, people are actually supposed to laugh at the deterioration of our drama standards. Take ARY’s Bulbulay for example; two men seem to forget everything in their life as soon as they lay eyes on a beautiful girl; as if a woman’s looks are her biggest asset!
The next issue is that these dramas are making it a norm that men shall not take no for an answer. Here is a cliché plotline I am using to support this- a rich, spoilt guy likes a hardworking, self-made girl of middle class upbringing. He is adamant to marry her and despite the girl downright refusing his advances he persists and, twisting his inflexibility into something romantic, the writers make the girl accept him in the end.
How is it that men seem to let go of a well-educated, loving wife in favour of a masoom bhoolibhali puppet of a woman that his family chooses for him? (No, it doesn’t happen right away but the kitten loving, naïve girl sooner or later manages to replace the self-aware, educated girl). What is the message that the writers try to convey? It is good to have education but, a man will only like a woman who does nothing worthwhile with this education? Even after everything, he will still fall for the one who can make gool rotiyan?
It is true that in this modern age, where women and men are considered – or at least, should be- like two wheels of the same cart, Pakistani writers are working in favor of strengthening the characters and roles on women as individuals. However, it seems they find it very hard to let go of stereotyping them at the same time. No doubt these stereotypical images are a result of deeply embedded social practices and interpretation, but I firmly believe that a conscious effort from the production houses and writers needs to be made to rectify this.
As the media is often responsible for shaping our opinions, dramas portraying women as being weak and oppressed can have an adverse influence on the way people think about and treat women in our society. In contrast, if dramas focus on strengthening women and empowering them, this can have a positive impact on society. Women could be inspired to stand up and speak up for themselves, for their own rights and protection.

Pakistani dramas always offer variety. Most of the Pakistani dramas in recent years kept the viewers engaged and entertained. When it came to writing the script and executing these plays, the writers and directors did exceptionally well for the most part. Because of this, these dramas were popular among the masses. There were other dramas which were popular because of the star cast. All these popular dramas did great on the rating chart and for the most part, were convincing. In the end, however, the writer and the director shocked the viewers by ending these Pakistani dramas in the worst way possible. The viewers looked forward to the ending of these dramas most importantly because they left them curious and the endings were unpredictable. Once these last episodes finally aired, the endings left the viewers baffled and disappointed. There are some writers who have a strong grip on the plot right till the end and then there are others who simply fail to wrap up the story decently in the end. These dramas basically show that giving a drama a good ending is just as important as the treatment given to it overall.
Here are some of the most popular dramas of Pakistan which had the worst endings.
[lwptoc]
Mere Pass Tum Ho
Dead Man Talking
Mere Pass Tum Ho set new records of popularity because of its dialogues, situation, direction, and writing. Some of the performances were loved by the viewers and gave the actors a new recognition. The story was bold and the situations extremely complicated. The viewers had no idea how the drama would end. Although the writer himself shared that the drama will have a tragic ending and the viewers were prepared for it but when the final episode aired, most of the viewers were astonished by the poor execution of the much-awaited finale.
Mere Pass Tum Ho’s Finale was also shown in cinemas. The hype this finale created was unmatched. Not only did the viewers cry because of the sad ending but they also laughed because this ending was anything but convincing. The writer is known for his dialogue writing but no one was expecting the writer to show a scenario in which a person who is dying would go on talking for the longest time. Also, the drama serial was more about Mehwish and Danish, the lead characters but it ended with an emotional conversation between the father and son. People were shocked to see just how badly executed Danish’s death scene was. Most of the people were expecting Danish to die but they were not expecting this scene to be carried out so carelessly and over dramatically. This resulted in complete disappointment. Mere Pass Tum Ho tops this list because people had more expectations from this finale more than any other. The makers could have made this ending emotional and impactful but the last episode was full of flaws which did not sit well with the viewers.
Ishq Zahe Naseeb
Bojhu Tu Janay!
Ishq Zahe Naseeb was another popular Pakistani drama this year that kept the viewers engaged and entertained. Ishq Zahe Naseeb’s plot was not run-of-the-mill. It did not only highlight a personality disorder that a lot of people didn’t know much about but it also proved to be a mystery/thriller which the Pakistani viewers enjoyed watching. Right till the end, the viewers looked forward to the mysteries getting solved in the end. After dragging the drama for weeks in order to cash in on its popularity, when the makers finally decided to end it, it was the worst ending that viewers were not happy with.
The viewers tuned into this ending to find answers yet the ending did not give them the answers they were looking for, in fact, it left them even more confused. At the end of the drama, the viewers visited different forums to ask each other if they got the answers to the questions but no one could really figure out who Sameer’s mother was which was a burning question right till the end. The mystery stayed a mystery right till the end which made this the worst ending. This last episode wasn’t just meaningless but also repetitive and boring. There were many tracks in this drama and none of them got a proper ending. This last episode lacked clarity and ironically it wasn’t even engaging. The makers failed to wrap up a script that kept the viewers glued to their screen properly which enraged and disappointed the fans.
Aangan
Hajmola – For Digesting An Illogical End
Aangan was one of the most hyped dramas of this year. It had a star cast and crew. Some of the most prominent people from the industry were attached to this serial and it was based on a novel that is considered a classic. Aangan was not even shown on YouTube which is why people made a special effort to watch the show while it went on air. For the most part, Aangan’s story was all over the place but the last few episodes were relatively better and gave hope that it might end on a decent note. The ending however was just as abrupt and disappointing as this drama as a whole.
Even the best of dramas sometimes don’t have good endings but sometimes a good, logical ending can make up for a weak storyline overall. That was most certainly not the case with Aangan. HUM obviously thought that investing in star power would ensure viewership and perhaps get them appreciation as well but viewers are not fools. The main leads Chammi and Jamil kept the viewers guessing and they did not get a proper ending in the last episode. Chammi did not ask for an explanation, everything happened too quickly, yet this was somehow supposed to be a happy ending. There was a time when it seemed like Chammi was over Jamil and right till the last episode it appeared to be that Jamil was still in love with Alia. Jamil and Chammi’s union was unconvincing to say the least. Most viewers wanted to see Chammi happy in the end but their happy moments were wrapped up too quickly. The physical closeness between the actors always suggested that this attraction was more physical. The romantic tracks in particular were handled so poorly throughout. This last episode was littered with indecent and unconvincing proposals and was a complete waste of time.
Cheekh
Writer With The Magic Wand!
Drama serial Cheekh kept the viewers completely hooked with its murder/mystery story. The first few episodes were fast-paced and kept the viewers guessing. As the drama progressed, the scenarios and situations stopped making sense. The viewers however looked forward to a finale which would lead to a convincing conclusion to a drama that they loved but was dragged to the limit.
In the end, while the viewers got to see the leading lady Mannat fighting her case the way they wanted to see her do it right from the beginning but the way this episode was written and executed did not impress most of the viewers. Instead of showing a gradual change in Mannat’s character and unfolding certain events that led to the ultimate conclusion, everything was done haphazardly. The villain too all of a sudden was shown being remorseful and out of the blue, in the end, he was pleading to get the viewer’s sympathy. Those viewers who were truly invested in this drama were left with so many unanswered questions because of scenarios that did not make sense. The viewers waited patiently for this last episode of Cheekh but it was one of the most badly executed last episodes of the most popular recent dramas.
Inkaar
Ja Tujhe Maaf Kiya
Inkaar was a powerful drama that challenged stereotypes and addressed an issue that had never been highlighted in any drama at all. The importance of a woman’s consent was highlighted in this play and for a change, a woman stood strong right till the end. This drama was also inspired by a real-life story, the end of which was quite different from the end of the drama. Inkaar right till the second last episode emphasized the importance of the criminal getting punished. The main protagonist Hajra fought a long and hard battle to get the man who tried to kill her punished yet in the end she decided to forgive him. Inkaar’s ending basically was too rushed, it completely ruined the message the drama set out to give, and overall it was not the least bit satisfying. It all boiled down to Hajra getting validation from the public and winning in the eyes of the media. Hajra and her father once said that they could forgive Rehan but they couldn’t forgive people who killed Gullu Badshah – what happened to that?
The opening scenes of this last episode promised a powerful ending but later on the way Hajra gave her own verdict was nothing short of shocking. Throughout, the court’s proceedings were covered in detail and every single scenario was convincing but in the end, the writer totally ruined the experience for the viewers. Hajra was quite content with her decision because she was convinced that Rehan Chaudhry did not need to go to prison but he needed the right guidance from his mother in order to ‘mend his ways’. Since this was Hajra’s decision, one she had taken after the court gave its own therefore everyone associated with her was quite happy with it and even the media portrayed Hajra as the real hero. The role Shayan’s father played was definitely pleasing but wasn’t he the one who got Gullu Badshah killed? Basically, there was no point of showing such a long legal battle if Hajra was going to forgive the criminals in the end. This was definitely one of the worst endings of Pakistani dramas in recent times.
Mere Bewafa
Terhra Hei Par Mera Hei
Mere Bewafa had a commercial storyline which appealed to the viewers. The drama was a mega-hit. Mere Bewafa’s story revolved around a married couple. The husband was the bewafa in drama, who had an affair with his wife’s best friend and then entered into a secret nikkah with her. The entire drama revolved around how the husband mistreated his wife and the wife tried relentlessly to make her husband fall back in love with her. Agha Ali and Sarah Khan’s on-screen couple was a big hit even though the story was not a romantic one. In the entire drama, the viewers watched the husband torturing his wife and he was even responsible for her miscarriage. There was nothing positive in the husband’s character yet the wife continuously did whatever she could to win her over.
In the last few episodes the wife, Azra’s character showed some signs of change which gave the viewers hope that in the end Azra will leave her bewafa husband Shahmir and will eventually make a life on her own. There was also a male friend in Azra’s life who continuously supported her and the viewers were hoping that in the end, Azra will choose to be with him. The last episode was a big slap on the intelligence of the viewers because Azra’s bewafa husband was forgiven within seconds even though he did not formally apologize. This was the most illogical and nonsensical ending to any play at all. Everything was wrapped up in a twisted happy ending which showed that there was nothing wrong with a woman forgiving people who put her through hell over and over again. After watching Azra suffer for 20 plus weeks, all of a sudden watching Azra smile at Shahmir and accepting him back was a big led down for the viewers who expected better. Shahmir’s newborn child’s death was used as a lame excuse for the change in the behavior of the entire family and even this change was not shown properly. This was the most pathetic ending to a drama.
Ishq Tamasha
RIP Common Sense
Ishq Tamasha was another popular drama that had the worst ending. Ishq Tamasha’s story was a really complicated and at times illogical love triangle but it was a hit play nevertheless. It was a story of revenge with a few romantic tracks. It also had a good woman vs the bad woman scenario. Rushna was a negative character who breaks a man’s heart and as a result of it he dies, his brother decides to avenge his death. In order to take revenge, he gets married to Rushna so that he can make her life hell. Mirha was the good girl, the damsel in distress who was kidnapped mistakenly by Mehrab, the brother out to take revenge. The story was complicated and clichéd at times but it kept the viewers hooked.
Mehrab was the most twisted hero who could have easily passed as the villain. Mirha was the most meesni heroine we have seen in dramas since in the end, she agreed to accept Mehrab’s proposal even after he tortured his ex-wife mentally (who also happened to be Mirha’s cousin) to the point that she died. The fact that Mehrab was a negative character was completely brushed under the carpet and in the last episode, the whole drama was ended like it was a simple love story, which it most certainly wasn’t. The ending was abrupt, insensitive, and badly put together, nothing short of a tamasha which left the viewers enraged.
Balaa
Ding Dong
Balaa had the viewers glued to their television screens for the longest time. Balaa was the story of a woman who was literally a balaa. The main protagonist, the balaa, Nigar was shown as a young woman with control issues to such an extent that she could easily be considered a psychopath. Most of the episodes of the drama covered how Nigar marries a decent man and destroys his life. Nigar’s plotting, planning, and negativity were covered for 20 plus weeks. When the drama became popular, the makers decided to extend viewers’ suffering by stretching the story like bubble gum.
The viewers looked forward to Nigar’s end. The only reason viewers tuned in to the drama after some time was that they wanted to see Nigar suffering just as much as she had made other people suffer. Towards the end, however, Nigar’s husband started playing just as many mind games as her and he too turned into a balaa! As if this was not enough, only the last episode was dedicated to showing Nigar’s ‘end’ which definitely did not satisfy the viewers. Balaa’s ending and the drama as a whole were ruined because it was prolonged for no reason and in the end, the makers had no clue how to wrap up the story.
Ghar Titli Ka Par
The woman pays and the man is forgiven
Ghar Titli Ka Par ruled the television screen for many weeks. This was the story of two friends Anji and Shafaq. Anji was the clever one and Shafaq was the innocent naive one. Anji destroys Shafaq’s house by first having an affair with her husband and then kicking her out of her own house. The fact was that for the longest time Anji’s antics were the most engaging element of the drama. Although Anji was a negative character, her scenes were amusing and Sanam Chaudhry’s performance was great.
Ghar Titli Ka Par’s ending too was just as abrupt, rushed, and illogical as the rest of the dramas on the list. All of a sudden the viewers were informed that a few years had passed and in these few years somehow Shafaq had conveniently forgiven her good-for-nothing husband and Anji was shown in a pathetic state, poor and ugly! It was never shown how she went from the clever manipulating woman to one who was now completely helpless. This was the most pathetic way to conclude the show. And it was yet another drama in which the woman was punished but the man wasn’t!
Khamoshi
Arsala Ki Khamoshi
Khamoshi was one of the most-watched drama serials of recent times. This was the drama because of which Zara Noor Abbas got recognition. It was the story of Arsala, a girl who works in people’s houses to earn for her family, and her family never values her. Eventually, she finds a man who gives her the respect and love she never had and that is when people were rooting for this couple. Other than that, just like any other drama, the viewers wanted to see those people who played a major part in making life hell for Arsala, paying for their wrongdoings.
The end of Khamoshi disappointed the viewers because even though in the end Arsala and Sharam got their happy ending but this ending was shown in such a way that it was not happy enough! Arsala’s hesitance to acknowledge everything Sharam had done for her and her confusion right till the end was seen as thanklessness by many. The negative character was forgiven too easily and one of them committed suicide, which did not make the fans happy. The ending was abrupt and everything was concluded in the last episode too quickly. Arsala’s attitude in this ending episode disappointed the viewers more than anything else.
Ye Dil Mera
Ye Kya Tha?!
Ye Dil Mera had a star cast and a dream team yet this drama kept the viewers wondering. Even though overall also Ye Dil Mera did not impress the viewers but the ending was the worst one ever. The reason is that the ending did not even look like the conclusion or the continuation of the storyline the viewers had to sit through for so many weeks. The way Meer Farooq suddenly died in an accident without actually paying for everything he had done was more of a convenient ending which left the viewers enraged.
Most of the viewers wanted to see closure for Amanullah in the end yet all they got to watch was an apology! Why did the writer waste so much time showing Aman’s background, if, in the end, his sufferings were not going to be the main focus of the ending? Not only this, some of the supporting characters who were crucial to the story completely disappeared from the drama in this last episode. Not only was this ending flawed in terms of the script but the execution was even worse.
Kashf
A Rushed Tragedy
Kashf was another popular drama serial that was loved because of its unique storyline. For weeks Kashf had the viewers’ undivided attention and there were only a few episodes that were stretched. Kashf is on this list because it ended abruptly and a little too quickly even though in between it was also stretched like many other dramas. The divorce in the last episode also disappointed the viewers. Kashf’s death was expected but the negative characters did not get a befitting ending. These tracks were covered too quickly and considering how much they had harmed Kashf, they deserved worse. This was definitely not the perfect way to end a drama which the viewers had so many expectations. Except for Kashf’s tragic end which made the viewers cry, this ending left a lot to be desired.
Sabaat
Abracadabra
Sabaat revolved around the destruction caused by the negative mindset and planning of the ‘villain’ more than anything else. Most of the drama focused on the planning done by Miraal and how this planning destroyed the lives of people she thought she owned. Anaya’s track was the only productive element of the drama. Most of the people watched this drama till the end because they wanted to watch Miraal pay for her wrongdoings in the end. Sabaat got mixed reactions from the viewers, some viewers loved it and others left watching it shortly after it went on air. The ending however was only liked by the die-hard fans. Miraal was not punished but she ‘redeemed’ herself by having a quick change of personality after an accident.
Anaya forgave Hassan and the worst part was that the writer did not give a lot of screen time to Hassan. He was not even given the opportunity to ask for forgiveness properly even that was done by Miraal. Anaya’s track also ended in the same old cliched manner, leaving no impact. This was the most underwhelming last episode which was unimpressive from the beginning till the end. The writer tried to pack too many ‘messages’ in a single episode hoping something would work for the viewers.
Muqaddar
The Weird Heroine
Muqaddar was another popular drama this year that had the worst ending. Not only did the writer glorify kidnapping and forced wedding but in the end, the man who was responsible for it all was not even held accountable. On the other hand, his first wife was somehow turned into a villain. Raima turned into a really twisted and confusing character weeks before the drama ended but in the end, the way the writer tried to make a hero out of her was even crazier. She was shown as a brave woman but in the strangest way possible with the portrait of her dead husband hanging in the background, as if she was endorsing everything he did while he was alive! Harris’ track did not even get a proper ending. After watching him suffer for so long, the viewers expected a happy ending for him but somehow that was not a priority for the writer. Muqaddar overall also had the most insensitive and carelessly written script and the ending was the final nail in the coffin!
Tera Ghum aur Hum
Mahi Disappears
Tera Ghum aur Hum was also popular among the viewers. This drama had black and white characters therefore the viewers naturally were expecting a happy ending for the ‘good guys’ in the drama. Viewers wanted to see Mahi and Ali happy after watching them go through all the ups and downs for so many weeks. In the end, however, Sara became the main heroine of the drama just like Miraal from Sabaat after she had an accident. Mahi was completely relegated to the background as if Hajra Yamin was being punished for not being available for shooting the last few episodes. There can be no other explanation for this bad ending. Even though Mahi worked so hard on the orphanage project, it was Sara who inaugurated it. This ending was simply ridiculous and the viewers were left wondering why the writer decided to end a perfectly good drama in such a way.
Which popular Pakistani drama in your opinion had the worst ending? Sharing your thoughts.
Stretching Pakistani dramas to a point where they test the patience of the viewers has become a norm now. It is a fact that knowing when to end a drama is just as important as giving it a good start. There are a few Pakistani dramas on air right now that have lost all their appeal because they have been dragged to the extreme. It is also true that this is not the first time that Pakistani dramas have been stretched like a rubber band. Few years back, the Pakistani producers chalked out a policy. According to this policy, they decided to air dramas for much longer than was the case previously. The whole idea was that the cost of such dramas would be the same as dramas which ended in 15 weeks or so but the monetary benefits will be more.
It is also a fact that once the viewers get hooked to a drama in the first 12 weeks or so, they will tune in to it every week until it ends whether they like it or not. Viewers criticize the dramas and curse the makers but they do watch these dramas till the end. That is how the producers benefit therefore they have decided to stick to this policy. There are still dramas that end without dragging, thankfully. There are however those dramas too which need to end as soon as possible since they are testing the patience of viewers.
It is of course possible for a drama to be on air for more than 20 or even 30 weeks and continue to hold the viewers’ interest. Pakistani writers definitely lack the creativity to keep the viewers hooked for that long! Usually, even the best Pakistani dramas tend to drag and get repetitive after 18 episodes. When a drama gets so monotonous and repetitive even those viewers who praised it at one time start regretting watching the show, to begin with.
Because, these dramas do not have the kind of story that can engage the viewers for so long, all the tracks lose their appeal and go haywire. This is what happens when edited scenes, forced scenarios and unnecessary flashback scenes are added to a drama in order to increase the number of episodes. Sometimes even the best stories go off track because of this reason. The writer adds an unwanted and unconvincing twist in the hope that it will make the viewers curious but most often these twists are not welcomed by the viewers.
Here is a list of those popular Pakistani dramas that should end now:
Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3
The television series Khuda Aur Mohabbat always garnered viewers’ love and support because of its quality content. When 7th Sky Entertainment announced that they were coming up with the third season of the series, the public stood divided. Imran Abbas, who was part of the first 2 seasons refused to be a part of season 3. Even though Feroze Khan who is enormously popular was going to play the lead in this third season and the writer of the drama was the same as before, a lot of people were skeptical because 7th Sky Entertainment is known for stretching and commercializing even the best scripts. Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 has been getting unprecedented ratings but most of the viewers are extremely disappointed with this season. Right from the beginning, the focus has been entirely on grand sets and visuals.
The director under the direction of the production house has since beginning done whatever he could to add innumerable filler scenes. The production house focused entirely on swaying the general public away by using Feroze Khan’s star power and elaborately designed sets and outfits. The story did not have the same appeal which the previous seasons had and Farhad’s love for Mahi has always been a topic of discussion for all the wrong reasons. Even after 27 weeks, the drama has neither picked up pace nor has it started making sense. Khuda Aur Mohabbat might be getting the ratings but it has definitely outlived its welcome and should end soon!
Pehli Si Mohabbat
Pehli Si Mohabbat had the viewers excited for a number of reasons. Maya Ali and Sheheyar Munawar’s first on-screen appearance together on the small screen was definitely one of the main reasons why viewers looked forward to this drama. Pehli Si Mohabbat started as a drama that was much more than just another love story since it offered social commentary on so many important issues which are seldom highlighted in dramas. However, with time and with the success of the drama, the production house decided to stretch it endlessly, dedicating many episodes to a single important development in the story.
With time, the pace of the drama has gone from steady to stagnant. The past 3 episodes were dedicated to Zainab’s death. The viewers are particularly sick and tired of the main protagonist Rakhshi crying endlessly on screen. The director has used these crying scenes to overplay the OST and increase the timing of every episode. Apart from that, the main messages of the drama have been highlighted repeatedly through different scenes and scenarios. It is high time that we see a final climax and the drama ends before the viewers completely forget that it offered quality entertainment at one point.
Yaar Na Bichray
Yaar Na Bichray is another popular Pakistani drama which perhaps got so much popularity rather unexpectedly. The fast-paced first few episodes and Mirza Zain Baig’s performance appealed to the viewers more than anything else. It is popular among the general public because of the black and white characters and of course the stereotypical characters which people most often like. In order to cash in on this popularity, the producers have stretched the story to a point that it revolves around unnecessary plotting and planning.
Like many other such dramas, misunderstandings and unconvincing scenarios are being added to every single episode in order to prolong the drama unnecessarily. It is one of those dramas which have been on air for 40 weeks even though it could have easily ended a long time back. Unfortunately, there are so many viewers who find the plotting and planning interesting therefore it seems as if the drama isn’t going to end anytime soon.
Fitoor
Fitoor is another drama serial that is extremely popular since it has kept the viewers glued to their television screens because of its unpredictable storyline. Faysal Qureshi, Wahaj Ali, and Hiba Bukhari’s on-screen pairing has also attracted the viewers. However, there have been many instances where the story and the characters did not make a lot of sense. Now, the story has undergone a major change and therefore this would be the ideal time to wrap the story up. Most of the viewers are still enjoying watching the drama and it has enough substance to be on air for another 3 weeks, beyond that it will be a waste of the viewers’ time.
Some of these changes and scenarios in the recent episodes have been extremely illogical like Mehmal’s sudden change of heart and the way some of the supporting characters went against their personality traits to add twists to the drama to create more problems for the main protagonists. We really hope that Fitoor draws to a close soon.
Azmaish
Azmaish caught the attention of the public right from the beginning mainly due to its fast pace. The story of the drama is rather typical but it has a few likable characters. In the beginning, the story was moving forward at a fast pace but ever since Shiza and Basit got married; the story has been going around in circles. There has been little or no character development and the story is not moving in a different direction. It is difficult to tell what direction the writer wants to take the story. It is pretty clear that the story has lost its spark and the only thing left to do at this moment is to wrap it all up while the characters are still making somewhat sense. What started off as a typical but entertaining drama has turned into a drama that doesn’t seem to be moving forward.
Although it is pretty clear that the makers of the drama want to drag it as much as they can in order to get the most out of the ratings but it would be wise to end it sooner when most people are still interested in finding out what will happen next.

Pakistani society isn’t accepting of people who have relationships with each other outside of marriage and although this trend of dating fellow celebrities is often not liked by people naturally that does not stop Pakistani celebrities from dating each other. People of the opposite gender are attracted to each other especially when they work together and sometimes these celebrities who date each other end up getting married while many times that is not the case. There have also been such Pakistani celebrities who openly confessed their love for each other, made their relationship public but could not get married for some reason.
It happens very often that even if celebrities are dating, they don’t talk about their relationships because they know that it is a temporary affair and also because people often criticize such celebrities. Very often, these affairs have been given the name of ‘just close friends’ when indeed such celebrities were dating without a shadow of a doubt.
Here are those Pakistani celebrities who dated each other in the past but are not even friends now.
[lwptoc]
Hamza Ali Abbasi and Saba Qamar
Hamza Ali Abbasi and Saba Qamar’s dating rumors were ripe back in 2014. These two ‘friends’ were seen hanging out with each other all the time. Their pictures showed how comfortable they were around each other and it was evident that they were much more than just friends. They went from being with each other all the time to never being seen again together which also suggested that they were indeed in a relationship.
Saba Qamar’s “I love you” post on Hamza Ali Abbasi’s page and ensuing silence suggested that they really were involved. It was only after the break-up that Saba Qamar gave an explanation for this. These two surely were in a relationship but that is something they never admitted to the world! Hamza Ali Abbasi is happily married now and Saba Qamar often talks about how she had her heart broken multiple times.
Sajal Ali and Feroze Khan
Sajal Ali and Feroze Khan got close really fast when they worked together in Chup Raho, which was Feroze Khan’s first drama. Sajal Ali and Feroze Khan soon after were seen in Gul-e-Rana and even did a movie together. Their on-screen chemistry was the result of a relationship they had off-screen.
Feroze Khan posted a picture with Sajal right next to which he wrote “when you know you are with the right one.” Sajal also took a very active part in Dua Malick’s wedding, just like a family member would but unfortunately it was not meant to be. The fans were shocked when Feroze announced that he was getting married because they were expecting Sajal and Feroze to announce their engagement. Sajal Aly is happily married to Ahad Raza Mir now and Feroze is now a father.
Ayesha Omer and Sikandar Rizvi
Ayesha Omer and Sikandar Rizvi dated for many years. They went on holidays together and did not shy away from letting the world know that they were together. They also did a few photoshoots together. Their pictures showed how close they were to one another. This couple too broke up and now they have gone their separate ways.
Sanam Chaudhry and Humayun Ashraf
A few years ago Humayun Ashraf and Sanam Chaudhry were seen together everywhere, almost all the time. These two celebrities never talked about their relationship but their pictures were all over the internet and their affair was the talk of the town. When both these celebrities stopped posting their pictures together, it was obvious that they were no longer a couple. Sanam Chaudhry got married last year and is now a mom.
Agha Ali and Sarah Khan
Agha Ali and Sarah Khan announced their engagement because they were so sure that they were soulmates and they will eventually get married. After staying together for more than a year, Sarah Khan and Agha Ali parted ways. They were also one of the most loved on-screen and off-screen couples in the showbiz industry.
Just like Sajal and Feroze, this break-up broke the heart of those fans who were waiting for Agha Ali and Sarah Khan to share the news of their wedding. Agha Ali has often talked about the breakup, he has stated that their priorities and perspectives changed therefore they no longer needed the same things from life which is why they broke up. Sarah Khan has never talked about the breakup at all. Agha Ali is now married to actress Hina Altaf and Sarah Khan is married to singer Falak Shabbir.
Sana Javed and Goher Rasheed
Sana Javed and Goher Rasheed’s relationship became public when Goher Rasheed threw a surprise birthday party for Sana Javed. This was his way of announcing that they were dating. Sana Javed was ecstatic to be with Goher Rasheed. However, she never talked about their relationship and it also ended soon. Now Sana Javed is happily married to singer Umair Jaswal.
Momina Mustehsan and Danyal Zafar
Momina Mustehsan and Danyal Zafar were seen together oftenafter they worked together for Coke Studio. They clearly enjoyed each others company and did not want to keep the fact that they were dating a secret. However, after a few months of being together, they also deleted all their pictures together which indicated that they had broken up.
When they were together eople even started asking them if they were getting engaged. When the rumors became the talk of the town, Momina simply told her fans that she was not getting engaged so everyone should relax. They did not deny the dating rumors and it was a little too obvious that they were together.
Veena Malik and Muhammad Asif
Muhammad Asif and Veena Malik were not only dating but according to sources they even entered into a nikkah – a claim which was later denied by Muhammad Asif. Their relationship ended with the dirtiest fights on media. Even the leading channels covered this controversial relationship. Their disputes were so grave that they even went to court to settle them. Veena Malik and Muhammad Asif stayed together for a few months as a couple in England.
Noor Hassan and Sanam Chaudhry
Noor Hassan and Sanam Chaudhry were also dating for more than a year. These two celebrities were with each other all the time. They worked in dramas together and even did a film. They did not shy away from posting their pictures on social media and made each other feel special every chance they got.
When the news of Sanam Chaudhry’s marriage surfaced people were shocked because so many fans were convinced that Noor Hassan and Sanam Chaudhry were so close that they will definitely get married.
Hania Aamir and Asim Azhar
Hania Aamir and Asim Azhar were together for over 2 years. Both these celebrities spent a lot of time together which also included traveling together. Their pictures showed that they were romantically involved. While Asim Azhar talked about his feelings for Hania Aamir in an interview, Hania most often said that he was a good friend. There had been times when Asim shared his discontent with people wanting to know more about their relationship status. Hania Aamir in one of her blogs at that time shared how Asim was the one taking care of her when she was sick. The relationship they shared was both cute and definitely much more than just friendship.
People found out that this couple had also broken up when they unfollowed each other on social media and deleted pictures together which they had posted on social media. Later on, in an interview, Asim Azhar shared that they had broken up and that he did not understand why it was such a big deal. He said that it was a mutual decision therefore he did not want people to ‘spice it up’ unnecessarily.
Mashal Khan and Ali Ansari
Mashal Khan and Ali Ansari were madly in love, they were engaged and were with each other all the time. They kept on posting pictures from the events they attended together to the times they spent otherwise. All of a sudden all these pictures were deleted and they were never seen together.
In an Instagram session, Mashal Khan talked about the break-up. This is what she had to say – “People follow celebrity couples and get really invested but when the break-up they don’t tell you so you are like I have invested myself and now I need to know. But obviously, these things are so personal and something people can’t understand. Breakups are not always violent and they not aggressive. Both are lovely human beings who have loved each other so much but it’s not just the right time or you are different people who want to do different things in life. You two mutually decide but now you can’t tell the audience.”
Alizeh Shah and Noaman Sami
Alizeh Shah and Noaman Sami were a couple for a few months until they broke up. Alizeh Shah declared her relationship with Noaman Sami when a few months into the relationship she shared a picture with him captioned, “will you stay with me under the silver light of the moon?” This picture had everyone wondering if Alizeh and Noaman were more than just friends. After that, the pictures and the captions of both these actors clearly suggested that they in fact were dating.
Both of them had nicknames for each other which were also added by them in their Instagram profiles. Alizeh Shah praised Noaman’s dedication and acting skills in interviews but they never openly talked about their relationship in interviews. Their social media posts however were evidence enough that not only were they dating but they were also madly in love. Alizeh and Noaman were also seen together in the ARY drama serial Mera Dil Mera Dushman. Most people liked their couple but just like all the other celebrities who were dating, they were often judged and criticized. Alizeh Shah and Noaman Sami never had any issue sharing the good times they had together with their fans in the form of pictures and romantic captions on social media. However when they changed their profiles, unfollowed each other, and deleted pictures together, it was clear that they were no longer together.

Hum TV’s drama serial”Ishq Murshid” is reaching heights of popularity because of its unique storyline and brilliant casting. Fans are loving the chemistry of Durefishan Saleem and Bilal Abbas. Reportedly, the dramas total episodes have so far garnered around 1 billion views. Fans from India admired Fazal Baksh and Shibra. A few episodes of “Ishq Murshid” also made a place in the YouTube trending. Ishq Murshid is directed by a famous director named Farooq Rind. The drama is written by Abdul Khaliq Khan and produced by Moomal Entertainment & MD Productions.
Well, recently, the writer of Ishq Murshid, Abdul Khaliq Khan made an appearance in Something Haute’s show Haute Talk, hosted by Hassan Choudhary. In the show, he disclosed the names of male leads who were being considered for Shahmeer’s character by him.
Talking about it, he said, “there were many names in my mind because we wanted to have the popular actors for 8:00 pm slot because the hit actors get the attentions of the fans. We considered Ahad Raza Mir, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Wahaj Ali and Bilal Abbas for the main lead. Ahad Raza Mir asked for the complete script, which wasn’t possible. Hamza Ali Abbasi was busy with Jaan E Jahan, although, I wanted him to be in it as I was imagining him as Fazal Baksh and politician Shahmeer. Wahaj Ali was already doing Tere Bin, so we didn’t try for him much, although he was approached. All four were approached but luckily Bilal Abbas was the one who had the better understanding of our script, he just read the initial episodes and understood the character, which helped us a lot”. Talking about Durefishan’s character, he said that Durefishan’s name was suggested to him by Siraj Ul Haq and they all were agreed to it.
Talking about the character of Ali Gul Mallah, he said that he wrote just one scene of him as a vegetable seller which was later on increased by Farooq Rind because he anticipated that it will be a hit character, his way of perceiving the characters is different. He said that Farooq Rind is a passionate director who owns his craft like a baby.

The beautiful @Iamsajalali has a message for all of us.
I want to thank her from the heart because she is the only celebrity friend I turned to, to ask for a short video asking the banning of child domestic labour, who responded immediately and recorded this message.
Remember that, a young girl Rizawana was beaten up by the family of a higher official. Nadia Jamil is quite hopeful that the young girl will be served with justice, she tweeted, “Chair woman Child Protection Bureau Punjab talks in detail about Rizwana’s case. She insists that justice should be served! The culprits are still trying to hide from the police. Sara pleads the public to call 1121 when they see ANY child being made to Labour. And most importantly Sara appeals to the Chief Justice Pakistan for urgent speedy justice in this case. Let them not get away this time. Please make this case a precedent!”.

Music is the most important part of the South Asian entertainment. We cannot make a drama or film without songs in it. Where films consist of multiple songs, a drama relies on one soundtrack which has to be good enough to stay on the audiences playlists as long as the drama runs on their screens. The soundtrack of any drama is its soul. People would not have loved Humsafar as much as they did if Woh Humsafar Tha wouldn’t have played in the background. OSTs have been a solace for Pakistani music lovers when the music industry was down. They made the audience connect to Pakistani music. The trend of producing soulful and heart-touching OSTs is, therefore, going on for quite some time now and our musicians have succeeded in giving the audience a lot of good stuff to listen to. This year was no different and every team tried to put out the best soundtrack they can. As a result, many heart-warming OSTs came out this year too and here are to name a few:
Khuda Aur Mohabbat 2:
The OST of Khuda Aur Mohabbat season 1 was so heart-touching that it still was a part of many people’s playlists. This year Khuda Aur Mohabbat season 2 came out. The OST was a bit altered and with the magical voice of Ahmed Jahanzeb, the vocals of Afshan Fawad were added. The whole song is so perfect that once it starts, it stirs something inside you. This was one of the top OSTs this season with perfect music, perfect vocals and perfect video.
https://youtu.be/ytMwjONVtag
Sang-e-Mar Mar:
This drama was too perfect. The direction, the acting, the plot and the OST. Sahir Ali Bagga’s composition and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s vocals can create magic any day. Both of them are masters of their crafts and it showed in the OST. The ghazal feels of this OST were out of this world. The music is extremely soothing and takes you to another world.
https://youtu.be/2EEdsL-luak
Dhaani:
Sung by Zamad Baig, this was another popular OST this year. Whenever Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab’s name is taken, the song has to be good. That was the case with Dhaani’s OST, it was a remake of Nusrat Sahab’s masterpiece and Zamad did a very good job and made the OST a must listen. The drama itself was not that much appreciated but the OST was. Here is Dhaani’s OST:
https://youtu.be/uAh7TdO68Us
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai:
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai talked about a very sensitive topic and brought society to think about a social issue the society skips to address as an issue even. The drama showed the problems a transgender individual face from the point of being born. Ayesha Khan showcased the mother of such a kid very nicely. The OST of the drama represents the overall theme and emotions perfectly. A win-win OST by Waqar Ali.
https://youtu.be/35NqI79c6EE
Moray Saiyyan:
People loved the pairing of Uzair and Neha in this play as well as the OST by Qurutul Ain Baloch. QB can nearly pull off anything she sings. The powerful vocals keep you mesmerized. The song was a tad bit slow and kind of sad when you listen to it but later, with the story unfolding it proved out to be a perfect OST for Moray Saiyyan.
https://youtu.be/LPFs15XybgU
Shadi Mubarak Ho:
The only good thing about this drama is its OST. Initially, I looked forward to the drama because of the song. The drama may be skip-worthy and not something one would look forward to but the OST is a win-win. It is a perfect shaadi song. The video is also choreographed in a filmy wedding style but as I said earlier, it was the only impressive thing about this drama.
https://youtu.be/jNfOW5kaW9Q
Ye Raha Dil:
The OST was youthful as was this drama. It is sung by Atif Ali and Samra Khan. It is melodious and easy going. It sounds more like a romantic song one can listen to in rom-coms. The video suits the overall lyrics and music. It was also a good one which came out this year.
https://youtu.be/Ie2m5L3ffo4
Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai:
The OST of this Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas and Shehzad sheikh starrer is also a winner, a lot like the story itself. The song is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the lyrics are by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. The two names together had to result in a masterpiece and that is what happened with the OST of Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai. And it perfectly matched the overall story and ending. Listen to it again:
https://youtu.be/5GqrrGR-_30
Sun Yaara:
The drama was fantastic and the song impressed the audience equally. The singer was Damia Farooq and she really made the song everyone’s favourite with her beautiful vocals. The video also complimented the lyrics and music. Here have a look:
https://youtu.be/rjXGQxZtghY
Baaghi:
This is hands down one of the best OSTs of recent times. The composition and vocals of this masterpiece were given by the talented Shuja Haider. It goes with the theme of the drama so well that only listening to it can make you aware what is coming ahead. Top notch music, best vocals, all in all, a brilliant track. Lyrics written by Sabir Zafar deserve an applause.
https://youtu.be/PJlnSVMSKDU
O Rungreza:
This is a song which you can listen to on repeat. Sahir Ali Bagga’s composition and voice made this a must-have for every playlist. Mohay apne hi rang main rang de nizam were the lines which Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also sang in this year’s Coke Studio but even they were not able to beat the melody of this OST. This song has colours, beauty and calmness along with the ability to make you dance and whirl with the music.
https://youtu.be/otryLKhAi5Y
So this year we got all kinds of OSTs from sad to ghazal like to chick. My personal favourite is that of O Rangreza. Sahir Ali Bagga really killed it in O Rangreza. The above list consists of all the popular and great OSTs of this year. Give them a shot if you have not listened to these and do share which one you liked or any other you think should be a part of this list. Your feedback is always important!

Fashion trends change more extensively nowadays than they ever did. Due to social media, in particular, the international fashion scene also influences the local market. There are some local fashion trends that are common in both India and Pakistan. Most of the time the designers and local brands, in both countries, follow similar trends. Since the majority of the Pakistani women wear Shalwar Kameez or trends that in line with the desi fashion, we will look into some of these trends which are not only being followed by celebrities but are equally popular among the general public. A few months ago it was difficult to predict that the summer season will see such a change in the local fashion trends.
Here are some of the most popular fashion trends of 2021, which are just as common and liked among the general public as they are preferred by celebrities:
Tie and Dye Outfits
Tie and dye dupattas were a rage in the 1990s but then they went completely out of fashion. Now the tie and dye trend is back with a bang! Most of the tie and dye outfits designed by the local brands have celebrated the technique to the maximum! The latest collection of Generation had different bold tie and dye prints.
Ethnic is another leading brand that had many different tie and dye designs as a part of its Pret collection. They had a special collection dedicated to different kinds of tie and dye suits. The brand played with color and gave its clients variety.
Many Pakistani celebrities have also been seen in tie and dye outfits. Maya Ali took it a step further by adding this tie and dye trend to her formal outfit.
Maria B is another leading designer brand that also showcased a tie and dye unstitched suit in its latest collection which was out of stock immediately.
Even the local vendors are making the most of this fashion trend by selling simple tie and dye suits for more than their normal price range. Every Pakistani girl and woman right now is looking for the perfect tie and dye outfit to complete their summer collection! Not just girls, even Pakistani men have the option to pick from a wide range of tie and dye outfits, as is evident from these pictures of some leading Pakistani celebrities.
Prints Are Back
Back in the late 80s wearing a fully printed shalwar kameez was in fashion. Gradually that fashion dyed down and plain shalwars were preferred by those who determine the fashion trends. Over the years, women have warmed up to the plain trousers/shalwars fashion. Some designers and brands add a few motifs to these trousers but printed shalwars and trousers recently made a comeback. Some of the leading designers such as Zara Shahjahan and Generation had plenty of printed shalwar kameez in their recent collections.
Aiman and Minal Khan also followed the fashion trend and added printed shalwar kameez with printed dupattas, following Zara Shahjahan’s lead. They were mocked for copying the designer but their collection was a hit nevertheless.
Some of the leading Pakistani celebrities are enjoying wearing printed suits for their regular everyday or casual look.
Printed and Plain Organza Duppatas
Organza Duppatas were back in fashion last year but this year around they made a comeback like never before. This is another 90s fashion that is back with a bang. Many leading Pakistani designers incorporated this trend in their collections this year. These organza dupattas were also considered the main attraction of many such outfits. Hussain Rehar’s debut lawn collection featured such designs with the most beautifully printed organza dupattas.
Many brands and celebrities also matched plain organza dupattas with their outfits. A few years back organza was considered outdated whereas chiffon and even net dupattas were more in demand. Zara Shahjahan collection was a perfect example of how a plain outfit can be used as a semi-formal one by matching it with a colorful organza dupatta.
Traditional Jewelry
Traditional Pakistani jewelry is also back with a bang! Most of the Pakistani celebrities were seen adorning jhumkas and baliya when they dressed up for Eid. Generally, also we see celebrities wearing such traditional jewelry in dramas and for other occasions more often now.
Even for a not-so-formal look, the celebrities relied on jhumkas in relatively smaller sizes. The most stylish of celebrities were seen following this fashion trend. The trend has been equally popular among the general public. The good thing is that such jewelry is easily accessible for everyone since it comes in all price ranges.
Customized Bridal Dupattas
This year the real-life brides followed this trend of getting customized bridal dupattas with either wishes or just the name of the bride and groom on them. This practice was also used for the separation fabric used during nikkah. This year many brides were seen wearing such dupattas.
Iqra Aziz was one such celebrity who followed this trend and also took it to the next level! When it was her first Eid last year she got this customized dupatta made from the ace designer Faiza Saqlain. Just like always, she was leading following the mainstream local fashion designs.
On her godh barhai her dupatta had 100 duas engraved on it through handcraft using zardozi and different embellishments. We are waiting to see if other celebrities will follow Iqra’s lead!
