Kabhi Kabhi Episode 03 – Stagnant For Now

0

Not much of a progress in the story this week in stead some of the repetitive conversations that were heard over & over again. It’s just that Eshaal has started to lean on Arez much more than she realizes & even though Arez has some realization, he just is trying to confine his feelings to a limit because he knows Ehsaal’s father very well.

I find it really odd that even though they are shown as liberal people & Eshaal’s father is not very strict either but how can he just be persistent on Ehsaal getting engaged to Shahveer? Even though he knows that Eshaal is not into the whole idea of getting engaged to the guy her father wants her to, Javed Sheikh is being stubborn here.

Got to know more about Arez’s family. Even though his brother blackmailed him but still it showed a brotherly bond between the two. Who’s more evil is Arez’s mother & his sister is equally irritating. Looks like Soni has got nothing better to do but in stead just keep a check on her brother so that she can use it against him. I just can’t relate to this fact that even though Arez has now stepped into his practical life, he is still scared of his mother finding about the girl he is just friends with. If he knows that he will keep himself in check where Ehsaal is concerned, why is he afraid of his mother? I could understand his mother’s strictness if he was just a school/college going boy but I think he is old enough to be independent in that sort too.

I think it is something funny that it’s Eshaal who is an interior designer keeps on asking Arez about the things related to the office-decor. As far as taking him with her for a company is concerned, that seems alright but to actually ask him about his suggestions that too being an interior decorator herself just doesn’t look right.

Ehsaal has yet to find out her growing love towards Arez & vice versa, but Eshaal is the one I feel will fall for him first because Arez knows about his social status, his background & more over his very own ‘family’. I found their conversations a bit dragged & boring where Eshaal is just finding an excuse to meet or speak to Arez, where she is trying so hard to convince Arez in fact that she doesn’t want to get married to Shahveer & then she is equally trying hard to hear Arez say the words.

I think as a side story Rehbar & Eva’s characters are poorly executed where they have nothing much to say or do. They are just their to complete a family picture & I think no one would’ve missed a great deal if Eshaal was shown as the only child of her father. Eva’s husband is just someone who has got nothing going on in his own life. He is npt even too keen about the business of his father-in-law, nor he is head over heels for his wife, he is just a bit too interested in what Eshaal does, which makes it really boring & “been there, seen it” before kind of a thing

I think the 3rd episode is not a right number to make the pace of the story slow. It should’ve been much more happening than it was. Let’s see what’s in store for us because so far I can predict that Eshaal will end up with Arez & get married but then a whole new level of saas-bahu will start. I hope there’s something different there in stead of the seen-before story executed in new circles.

Kabhi Kabhi Episode 02 – So Far So Good.

0

Another week of an interesting episode with no such disappointments except for one that in the first episode the name I heard & checked on ARY’s official website was Shahraiz & now it has become Shahveer? Apart from this bit of a confusion I enjoyed watching the whole episode.

Arez is making Eshaal live the life she has never experienced before. Be it a road-side green tea or a bike ride, she has enjoyed his company & has opened up to him in just no time. Arez on his own is getting quite comfortable with Eshaal & has no issues in helping with her bouts, also h is happily lending her a shoulder to cry for which he looks like a really nice person. I liked the chemistry that they both shared & their scenes were nicely directed with some really nice & light hearted conversations.

Ehsaal’s father is going over-board in getting his plan materialized of making Eshaal fall for Shahveer/Shahraiz. He may be the eligible bachelor but he doesn’t make Ehsaal’s heart skip a beat. He can no doubt provide her with everything but that’s just not what Eshaal wants. Arez tells her that he finds her different from those rich stereotype girls & he is spot on when it comes to that conclusion because Ehsaal just wants to enjoy her life; her way, & her way of leading a life is definitely different than her family’s idea of a happy one.

Rehbar continues to poke his nose in Ehsaal’s matter & her father has planned a grand wedding or engagement without even letting her know. Being a father, no doubt he wants the best for her but is that the only reason he is so keen on getting Eshaal hooked to the rich guy? I am sure there’s some sort of a business benefit hidden behind this proposal too.

Ohkay, I think we all should get ready to see some serious over-acting by both Sana Askari & Bushra Ansari. Even if they are those mean ones, doesn’t really mean that they actually have to over do it. Bushra Ansari did seem reasonable but Sana Askari is stooping to over-acting. In this episode, it has been made pretty clear that they know how to blow simple things out of proportion & it was rather funny to see Arez giving his reasoning on the cross-questioning that was happening. How sneakily he tip-toed in his own home was utterly amusing. Ehsaal thinks his family is easy to tackle but only Arez knows what he has to face every single time, but still despite all this, he has started to like Ehsaal & spending time with her because according to him, no one can help falling in love with a girl like her.

So, I am looking forward to the next episode & the whole direction & the screenplay is amazing too. So far the drama does look refreshing & definitely for boring. Even though the story can be predictable but I actually feel & want to believe that there’s no harm in giving this one a try, given the kick start it has taken.

Kabhi Kabhi # 27 – Zeher Kar Diya Mera Nashta!

0

What a bad start of my day when I had to tune into this pathetic drama for the sake of reviewing it. During & after watching this episode I was like ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so this is what this drama was all about. They infused the adaption of Halala very colorfully, so that people by the end of it don’t feel bad & only have sympathy towards a girl who has gone crazy & who’s halat ki maari, bechari.

I feel this drama should’ve been labeled as ‘Kabhi Kabhi Acchi Saas Miliiiiiiii’. Wallah, now Arez’s mother thought she was responsible for Eeshal’s condition therefore she had to rectify her mistakes. Very cleverly they are trying to wrap up the story at a point where it begun. Ohkay, if Arez’s mother wants to do good by Eeshal she should’ve chopped off Soni’s venomous tongue the first thing to protect her ex & potential Bahu from getting affected. But sadly she didn’t think of it.

The beginning of the episode right till the middle had nothing, absolutely nothing to offer. Scenes were long & boring, dialogues were pathetic, Sunny was there – enough said. Now he & his chic naukrani can live happily ever after in a house which he gifted to Eeshal, lol. I mean how many times Eeshal had to say that she wanted the medicines? At first in Sunny’s home then at Rehbar’s place & now at Arez’s? As if we really don’t know & more so as if we care?

The writer herself reassured that Eva & Rehbar have a very strong role to play in the story & I am still waiting for their part. Chop chop people because the drama’s endingggggg, boo hooo!!! Oh & yes while looking at Rehbar & Eva’s lifestyle, I mean Rehbar could afford a luxurious living & provide everything to Eva so why was he seen hovering & lingering & sulking in his FIL’s home in the beginning? What was all that about? I thought Rehbar would avenge his bankruptcy by torturing Eva’s Dad but none of it ever happened, so why all those mean & evil looks & why was Rehbar made to look like a spook with ulterior motives?

I am still amazed actually I am piting the mindset of the writer to serve us with a story of Halala. A girl who was intelligent, loved making choices of her own – gets divorced over a petty kabab-fight, later finds peace by being with a creep whose sight is enough to give you creepy shivers down your spine, marries him, becomes a drug addict & later gets divorced & settles with her first husband. To jab ye sab inka apas ka mamla tha to hum is sab k beech mai kya kar rahay thay? I mean hamara kya kaam tha???

Everyone knows that she is an addict & Dad used to speak about Paris & London & New York but deep down he was so low on brains to be thinking she was under a magic spell. My point is that I am actually amazed because Eeshal’s whole family is shown as a bunch of sophisticated elite loons so why none of them has suggested her admission to a re-hab? Oh did I say loon – enough said once again I guess!!!

Somewhere in the comments I read this was the second last episode & I hope it is because IF that happens I will distribute virtual laddus to every single person!!!

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kabhi Kabhi # 26 – Druggies Ka Khandaan!

0

& yes, once again they proved me right, this drama is left with nothing to offer & they are just stretching it to keep the prime slot of Fridays filled with some dirt, you know something-better-than-nothing sort of a thing.

I practically don’t have anything left to say about this drama because there is absolutely nothing that needs to be covered. I am amazed at the number of episodes Kabhi Kabhi is dragged to even though the story stopped just around 15th episode & that’s it. Rest are just the petty details which are being covered. This time around they covered Eeshal’s addiction next time I am sure they’ll be covering Ali’s poop.

Finally, Dad has made a comeback & he is once again in action to protect his half-mad child Eeshal. While listening to his conversation with Arez all I thought of was k ye uncle jab bhi muh kholenge kuch bura hi bolenge & I was just so right, he now thinks Eeshal is under a magic spell that’s why she is not in her senses anymore. Matlab koi tukk banti hai? He has reached the age of pata nahi kya but still he lacks basic sense, he needs some pills too. Oh boy! Things people do when they are bored & Kabhi Kabhi is a result of Samira Fazal’s boredom. I still can’t get over the fact that this drama once upon a time began at such a different note & look where it has gotten to.

Eeshal has become a sleeping-pill addict as if we weren’t aware of this secret by now & they took around 3 episodes to reveal the detail. I think the director & the editor were sleeping too while making this play, hence the delay.

Eeshal in her drug-pan allowed Arez to take Ali with him. Least bothered about Ali but I just couldn’t get over the fact that the scenes were just plain annoyingly long. Sunny literally repeated 10 times that he just gave Eeshal a single pill, he gave Eeshal a single pill, he took care of Ali, he took care of Ali, he took care of Ali, he took care of Ali. I swear I was waiting that if just one more time I hear him say this, I will hit a spare sauce pan hard on his head because I know the pan would get deshaped but it won’t have an effect on this empty headed loon. & I was holding a knife in my hand to chop Soni’s lambi zuban if she opened her trashy mouth once again. I am thinking if Eva had to attain the intelligence or some IQ just before the end of the drama so why was she shown as a dumb corpse with limbs in the beginning? Koi tukk hai?

What good did Sunny do to Eeshal after marrying her? What good did Eeshal do by giving birth to Ali? What good did she do by leaving her father’s place? What good did Arez do by divorcing Eeshal? What good did Arez do by marrying Eeshal? What good did Samira Fazal do by writing this piece of garbage & what good did the director do by directing such a hideous play? In short what good did they do by making Kabhi Kabhi? If they wanted us to waste our 26 weeks, they should’ve just told us like that, I’d definitely & happily had preferred watching a BLANK SCREEN for 1 hour than watching this torturous nightmare aur jo peechay wo a jati hai YE KIYYYAAAWWW HUAAAWWW JOOOWWW KURBATOOONNN MAI something something, I feel like telling her CHUP KARRR MANHOOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep Cursing (the drama-makers),
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kabhi Kabhi # 25 – Paglon Ka Khandaan!

0

Tauba! After watching this drama tonight all I could think of was ‘ye manhoos drama kab khatam hoga’. What is happening in this drama & why is it happening? Are they actually having fun by putting us through such a torture on weekly basis? I swear I dread tuning into this drama & it really shows how great a drama is when you watch 40 minutes episode in approx 10 minutes.

There were literally 2 – 3 situations in the drama which were dragged to make an episode out of it. I am not sure what’s happening but I actually am concerned for the director’s mental capability too, I wish he is doing alright because it seems like he was on a high dosage of sleeping pills too when he was directing this play. Tauba tauba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have travelled all my life & I didn’t know that passports can also be used as telephone diaries. Rehbar happened to get Arez’s friends number through his passport? Hahahahahah!!!!!! What an idea! I am writing all the phone numbers on the empty pages of my passport too, so just in case if I lose my phone somewhere, I’d have a backup at least, nai?

I don’t understand why didn’t they kill Soni when they moved the story forward for 5 years. Instead of showing her as a divorcee, they should’ve shown that she passed away or her husband beat her to death. At least we’d be spared from seeing her face & she’d be spared from all the swearing she gets by being in this play as a character. What’s her fixation with bringing her brother Arez down? That good for nothing mooch.

Arez was having so much fun with his batameez bacha & yes just like Shahrez told his mother that why wouldn’t Arez tell them he was with Ali all this while? I am wondering about that too that what was all this sneaking little act meant for? What a full proof plan Arez had of being with his child when he himself forgot the passport at his place. I am sure Arez borrowed some sleeping pills from Eeshal too & he’s high on them, definitely.

I think Sunny told Arez that he & Eeshal were home-schooling Ali & after looking at Ali’s drawing Eeshal was all surprised asking him who drew it? Being a mother, doesn’t she even know what her only son was capable of? I think Dad was right she shouldn’t have had this baby if she had to put him through this hell. It was Eeshal’s determination to give birth to this baby & now what is she actually doing to him? She has found peace in her pills, so what was the fuss all about that she wanted to save this baby & she even stopped speaking to her father for Ali’s sake & look what she is doing to him. Wallah!

After seeing Dad I was like chalo inhain inke falah-e-behbood k kaam se fursat mil gai k yahan a gaye hain hamara sir khanay & once again he is showing his concern for Eeshal out of the blue. The ending scene was again ridiculous where Eeshal was all druggy & Sunny (who doesn’t need to resort to the drugs because he naturally happens to have that face) were having SUCH A MEANINGFUL conversation without even some suitable dialogues to begin with that I just wanted to throw up.
Tauba kab khatam hoga ye azaaabbbbbbb!!!

Keep PRAYING for this punishment to end,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kabhi Kabhi # 24: Hameeeesha Hi Saza Mili!

0

LOL! What a brilliant episode & the performances. I think we all have definitely come to a stage that when nothing makes sense, you end up laughing till your stomach hurts & this is what happened to me today at least, I laughed throughout the episode so hard just trying to figure out what were they thinking?

Yes, I did do a little reminisce check to explore the point where this drama began. A sweet love story with two amazing characters Eeshal & Arez, where Eeshal was a hopeless romantic & Arez resisted falling in love with a headstrong girl but he couldn’t & it was almost magical. I really had no idea & I think no one else could’ve thought that this drama would come to a point where we’ll be seeing a batameez bacha whose potty pishi would be a topic of discussion. Whose ganday kapre, buu & untidy nails would be used to cover a whole episode & give us the creeps, blukh!!!

Oh, we thought we were watching a drama about the learned, the rich, the enlightened ones but didn’t know they were worse. Yes, it does happen that all those kitty party aunties forsake their kids for their activities but Eeshal abandoned him because she wanted to sleep. So, yes I do give them a 10 on 10 for showing the reality, because that’s the only thing I can do to keep myself sane, trying to dish out some sense out of an utter nonsense. 5 years of sleeping I mean artificial sleeping & isn’t Eeshal worried as to why she has started to sleep more than a kid herself? Looking at Eeshal, Sunny & Ali in one frame, the only thought that came to my mind was ‘What a mad druggy family this is’. So, yes for this I can label them as picture perfect, lol.

All of a sudden why Arez started to act like a James Bond, sneaking into his own home with his own kid? If he even decided to bring his long lost baby at his place, why the need of hiding him? Definitely his amman wouldn’t eat him for lunch & Soni wouldn’t scream in shock thinking she saw something alien. They all would obviously accept him because he is Arez’s son, I thought Sunny & Eeshal used to be on a joint but didn’t know Arez smelled some too.

Rehbar, Eva with their half dumb, half intelligent daughter, not sure what they are doing in this drama? Still I can’t seem to figure out, if someone has gotten hold of the importance of their characters, please do let me know as I am unable to solve the mystery. Chalo, this time around the story progressed towards Ali’s pamper, I am sure the next progress would be in terms of us seeing him on a commode! So, YAY for us!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Kabhi Kabhi – Last Episode!

0

Finally the moment has arrived & we’re free from Kabhi Kabhi. What a waste of time, money & most of all – THE BRAINS. After the end of this pathetic drama I am promising myself that I will never tune into any such play which would have Samira Fazal’s name attached to it. What a pathetic piece of writing I must say.

As usual this episode had Samira Fazal written all over it because all of a sudden her characters start having fits of awakening or detest. Similar thing happened to Zeb in Silvatein that her character flipped & she made herself a bechari. Similarly Eeshal was on an emo spree that now she was hating herself, shooing her kid away from her, arranging a party, eating medicines like crazy & then in the end she happily had a Halala. What a third class drama to show to the viewers!!!

From Ahsan Khan’s changing hairstyles to the to & fro between the clean shave & stubble, this episode & the whole conversations were just as confusing as anything & made no sense at all. Eeshal one fine day sighted the mood to jump from her ex’s terrace to taste the adventure of broken bones just because Soni told her off. One fine day she planned on leaving his home just like that to arrange a party to show how faarigh she actually is. I am guessing it was the same Eeshal right, who had issues remembering if she went to the washroom a moment ago is now pulling a red lipstick, sleeveless gown, has glammed up herself to make a pathetic certain point to her husband that she is a loon for sure. I mean was that all necessary?

I am guessing what was the use of Eva, Rehbar, Shahraiz & Soni in this drama? What were they doing in this play being a part of this crazy family? Oh & yes, now when Eeshal was supposedly walking towards her betterment, where was Eva buried to see her sister make a decision of her life once again? Dad thought pulling a tight fitted orange shirt to show his jelly belly & apologizing to his daughter would fix things just like that. Ohkay that was obviously necessary but then again I am thinking jab ye inka apsi mamla tha to is sab mai hamara kya kaam tha?

I must say the writer should be ashamed of bringing in a story that promotes or highlights Halala. It is such a serious issue that a girl faces as a consequence if she gets divorced. It’s not meant for people like Eeshal who don’t know what they want from life therefore they keep on stumbling upon different men without any good reason & it is definitely not for such immoral writers to bring into their stories just because they themselves are bored to the core & want to kill their time writing a piece of stupidity like this. For once they should stop ridiculing such serious institution of marriage & then divorce. Writers think writing about Taboos would be a great way to teach people something but sorry they’re sadly mistaken. What a farce, what a shame, what a useless display of one’s immorality.

Thank God this torture is over & so are my chances of EVER TUNING INTO SAMIRA FAZAL’s PLAYS AGAIN!!!! PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 23…???

Statutory Warning: Spare me for some questionable language here. Kabhi Kabhi jaisay blunder ki hi tarhaan kabhi kabhi ho jata hai!

Ummm did anyone understand what actually happened in this episode or only I am clueless & speechless? Just like the script has NOTHING to offer, I think I have run out of the words as well.

They showed that 5 years have passed but did it make any sense? NO! Arez was still crying over what Soni did & how she scurried to Sunny’s home? All this was being discussed after she got married to someone else & also got divorced. No wonder it had to happen considering the length of her crappy crappy tongue. But seriously, don’t they know the art of MOVING ON in their lives? Why Arez is still stuck at what happened 5 years ago & actually I am wondering what difference did it make to move the story forward by half a decade? It WAS stupid & still is.

Is it just me or it looked like Eeshal has lost her brains completely? 5 years have passed & not even an inch of grass on Sunny’s head, proving the point once again that his skull is barren & nothing can be produced out of it. I thought Eeshal was intelligent because we were spoon fed with this fact again & again so at this point I am wondering IF this is what intelligence is, then Einstien must be Eva’s brother.

Why do they think that the people who are playing the roles of the friends as fillers are supposed to be acting-free. Who is this new found friend of Eeshal who is literally baby sitting her with zero acting to her credit? Ali is batameez, it was pretty evident & IF this is why Eeshal stayed in a relation with Sunny then I think she didn’t calculate that how Ali will take it after Sunny!

Why all of a sudden I heard a word DAD in this whole episode? It is something alien? Some alien is known as some Dad in this drama? I thought he was gone for good & now repetitively it was mentioned that Dad is doing charity work, Dad is doing charity work as if he we are interested to know? What went wrong between Eva & Eeshal? I mean if Eeshal estranged her sister just because she was in contact with their father, then I am not understanding why all this is happening?

Rehbar spoke about being a bright student in his childhood? I mean really? After 23 episodes they think we wanted to know how Rehbar performed academically? Eva goes like Eeshal wala Arez? How many Arezes does show know of that she had to use this reference? I think people who are dumb & have mental issues don’t last for too long but Eva seems to be doing good in her life with -zero IQ, is it really possible?

I think Arez just came back to show he had grown some hair which were chopped in the very next scene. Same thing happened with Shahraiz, good-for-nothing bloke. Arez is NOW by the end of the story wondering WHY Soni is so spoiled by her mother, so what was he doing all these years? Justifying the title KABHI KABHI, Kabhi Kabhi khayal a hi jata hai psycho behan ka.

Is this drama making ANY sense AT ALL? I think the writer is liable & answerable to all of us for WHY she put us through this hell? In the end just an expression which I have never used but I will use it now to show my mental state after watching this piece of crap….WHAT THE HELL MAN!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Keep Supporting, (in fact don’t – on this pathetic serial)

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 22 (Kab Khatam Hoga?)

Oh My God! This drama deserves all the bashing & no sugarcoated, courteous response. What was the story that we began with, does anyone remember? Neither do I!

There was practically nothing, absolutely nothing, totally nothing happening in this episode but just to make an episode out of thin air they dragged the scenes, where one was boring than the other. I think this piece of writing is a result of a time when the script-writer was bored herself. Hence, the disaster.

Sunny got married to Eeshal. I mean c’mon being cousins all their lives, everyone knows what the other is capable of, ohkay, keeping all the sense aside, even Sunny got married to her but why did he put up with an act before & why is he spoiling it all for her again? Didn’t he admit that he wanted her all his life & now that he has gotten her, why is he being insane?

Is there no sense of morality or shame left to hit our TV screens? Where the ex-nand is ready to get married to her ex-bhabhi’s current husband once she gets divorced & gets married to her brother again. Wallahi, this mess is huge & burdensome. Do the writers really & actually think that we want to see Halala happening in our dramas now? Is this where we have stooped to, is this how much we have run out of ideas?

I have never said this before but I wish someone hit a fry pan or a sauce pan on Sunny’s empty head. I am sure the sound would resonate proving the emptiness of it. All his over-acting with his phone & torturing Eeshal & Eeshal bechara-pan was puke worthy & Arez, this guy either needs to book a ticket & go to the moon, to be smacked by the aliens. Does he really think he can undo the mess & all that harshness after getting married to Eeshal AGAIN? What did he do to her being married to her before that he intends to do it differently this time around?

Out of no where the grounds of Halala are being established in this drama & sorry to say I thought Eeshal could’ve done better. I thought she was the intelligent one, the independent one, the I-can-do-it-all one & how come she ended up becoming a shuttle between the two guys? Can’t she get divorced again & borrow some money from her rich Dad & settle anywhere else, support her child & live life peacefully? I mean the glimmer in her eyes after the proposal from the ex-husband was sickening. I know I know, everything’s fair in love & war – there’s nothing wrong in Halala but the writers need to understand the intricacy & wisdom behind this act before rather than maligning it with their unrealistic approach towards it.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 21!

To be honest, every week I dread tuning to this program because I know it’s just going to be a mind-teaser & surprise surprise I wasn’t proven wrong this week too. Nothing is making sense in the drama & no character is worth sympathizing for. What a waste of time I must say!

Just by looking at Dad I wondered if he is feeling remorse of any sorts because he spoiled his daughter’s life. Luckily, Eva survived his tactics because Rehbar took her away from him otherwise Dad actually wanted to throw Rehbar out of her life as well or may be he only had an acceptance to their relation because Rehbar was nothing but a puppet that lived right in front of his eyes. Sadly, what he did with Eeshal was absolutely insane. I hope he rots in his guilt because what Eeshal’s facing right now is a result of his planning. Plus on the other side, Eva & Dad’s conversation made NO SENSE at all. She cried because she thought Sunny scolded Eeshal because of her, all of a sudden Eva felt so much for her poor sister but where was this very same Eva when her younger sister was going to her in-laws place? She didn’t even bother seeing her off at her wedding night & how come all of a sudden Eva developed such an insight as to feel something for someone? Isn’t she a conceited little fool who has no brains whatsoever? Once again the dumb & dumber conversation was forced & looked like they had no dialogues to work with so they just blabbered whatever popped into their minds.

Sunny permitted Arez to meet Ali & all of a sudden Rehbar tells Eeshal on the phone that Arez was furious & wanted to meet Ali, whereas he already had met him. Eeshal starts planning with Rehbar that how Arez could meet Ali? When Sunny in the very first place ALLOWED Arez to meet Ali so where did things go wrong? No verbal spat was shown & nothing was ever said to Sunny to hurt his 1gram ego so why the fuss was created once again out of thin-air? All I saw was that Soni came & started begging Sunny for rescuing her & Arez told her off, that’s it. So, why was Arez once again seeking Sunny’s permission & why was he not allowing it?

I actually advise the actor playing the role of Sunny to stop acting because seems like annoying is his second-name & he by all means redefines & owns it. In the beginning of the drama reviews I got a pointer from the writer herself saying that Rehbar & Eva have a very strong role to play in this story & now when we’re almost at the end of it, I am still waiting for their feed. I did hear the term Halala being used without any grounds to it, so is this what Rehbar would do? Get Eeshal married again to Arez? Is this what the story’s all about? I hope it finishes off ASAP because this senseless drama is getting on my nerves now!

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 20!

Unreasonable, unrealistic, unjustifiable & undue are some words to describe this story in a nutshell. Wow! You get divorced & then go as a guest to your ex-husband’s house. This is definitely something that I have never seen or heard of before & this is definitely something that I didn’t miss seeing as well.

I thought Arez was worst but now he looks like a prince in comparison to Sunny. Not only he is scary but he is shallow inside out. I wonder what did the producers see in this script to materialize it as a drama? Sunny is not only insecure but is crazy because I think he is in an awe of how he got such a heavenly girl like Eeshal (as per his supposition). If he wants to save his marriage, he needs to work on it in a positive way rather than torturing his wife.

I thought Ali was a day old when Eeshal got married to Sunny & later he was a couple of days old when Sunny put her on a house-arrest, he was approx 3 days old when Eeshal wanted to go out to buy his pampers & Sunny assured her that he will fetch them on his way back from the office, so suddenly in the next episode when Sunny walked in with a pack of pamper, Ali has come to a stage where he is sitting & even at some point crawling. How come an infant approx a week old grow to the age of 6-7 months in just a change of an episode? Ohkay, even if they have moved the story forward, why Sunny still had an invitation for the dinner from Arez? Why isn’t Eva showing as she must be in her 2nd trimester by now? & just like Arez told, he was in Pakistan for a few days as he has a job to resume in DXB, so what was he doing there for months? I think attention to detail is lacking & that is a major major flaw.

Looking at the production value been put in this drama, I just can not imagine the level this story has stooped down to. You get married to your cousin & on his demand you show up at your in-law’s dinner invite? Awkward is the word for all of this. Soni got what she deserved & Sunny had an excuse for putting her up through all this because he took revenge on behalf of Eeshal. Eva is Eva, dumb to the core & when the baby-like in fact premature baby-like Eva with an IQ of -100 had no idea of what HALALA was, then how come she knew of the term itself & very appropriately she used at that particular moment? I hope someone hits hard on her head so the birds fly away who are residing in her empty head, giving her an opportunity to regain her mental health.

I guess the writer didn’t resort to the Islamic books that clarify the concepts of divorce in the light of Islam which is as simple that a girl DOES NOT get divorced when she is expecting, so how come she got married again & now the term Halala was being used. I thought Eeshal would sooner or later find out that she never got divorced in the first place & then she would reconcile with Arez but seeing all that has happened I wish I had known what sort of a filthy script this was, I wouldn’t have wasted my time on it.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 19!

I am not sure what went wrong with the writer while writing the script of this drama. I can not believe that the drama which started off at such a great note would come to such a level where it is not only annoying but also beyond understanding. I am definitely questioning the purpose of this drama because is it nothing but hideous.

I didn’t know being intelligent is injurious to health & this is what has happened to Eeshal. Can’t imagine that the girl who had such a strong character would be swayed by some gestures of an irritating & scary person like Sunny. In the middle of the not-making-any-sense conversations, Eeshal herself claimed to have forgotten how cheap Sunny was, so why couldn’t she remind herself that beforehand? Once again the emphasis was on Eeshal being intelligent & Eva being a dumbwit, but is it really necessary? What has Eeshal done till now to prove herself as an intellectual? Eva is Eva so no explanations needed.

Sorry to be sounding amusing but today Eeshal reminded me of Prerna from Star Plus’s Kasauti Zindagi Ki, where she was nothing but a shuttlecock between Mr. Bajaj & Anurag. Similarly, Eeshal has followed the footsteps of Prerna & allowed herself to be tossed between Shahveer, Dad, Arez & now Sunny. Ridiculous is a small word for the level where this script has gone to.

Poor Eeshal has to only face things as a compensation for her Dad being a complete evil. Looks like Sunny’s peanut-like ego got hurt because of how Dad treated him so he planned on taking a revenge. Ohkay, I think when a girl gets free from the pregnancy, the last thing she has on her mind is to get married again right after having a baby but seems like Eeshal’s intelligence worked wonders & helped her getting trapped with Sunny ASAP. Being intelligent is good but by looking at the case of Eeshal, I wish no girl ever gets that label & all the girls stay as dumb as Eva if they can save themselves from taking such hideous decisions. Even when Rehbar to whom Eeshal seems to be clinging lately for her problems, told her to stay with them & then think twice before making a choice, Eeshal ended up choosing Sunny over everyone. Phew!

I think that when a girl is expecting she does not get divorced but here not only the concept was crushed but a solution was given in a very easy manner that even if you do get divorced, right after having a baby find the most closest cousin or friend irrespective of seeing what sort of a person he is, just get married straight away & then deal with him later by calling your jeeja or your father if you’re on good terms with either of them. What a nice story I must say!!!

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 18!

Glad that after weeks of focusing on the miseries, there was something new happening in this episode. I must say that the only star of this episode was Mehwish Hayat & her acting. Only she single-handedly held the whole episode together & made me want to see more of her & her life as Eeshal because otherwise the director hasn’t been doing his job wonderfully.

Eeshal has clearly moved on but I think there should’ve been a say from her to her Dad about what she found out in the previous episode. She clearly knows her husband & in-laws were insulted on the night of Baraat so why didn’t she confront her father now because she has done it quite sternly in the past on different occasions. Eeshal’s only way of moving on was to involve herself in her father’s business because after Eva’s gone, she didn’t have much to do anyways.

It was another surprising factor that Eeshal herself didn’t know where Eva went after they got married. It wasn’t obviously like Rehbar shifted to their place immediately after he got married to Eva. He clearly went bankrupt & then moved to Eva’s place so how come Eeshal on her own didn’t know where was Rehbar’s home? At times it was good to see Sunny being supportive of her & helping her understand the real face of her father but then him being extra chummy wherever the baby was concerned was something unusually awful too.

Mehwish Hayat’s acting in that particular scene where she told her in-laws off was spot on, they certainly needed to face the mirror of their realities because that is right, Eeshal never gave them any reason to be against her but it looks like they didn’t deserve such a nice girl like her. Mehwish Hayat done a good job throughout as an actor but I wish the writer wouldn’t have brought down her character a bit, looks like she’s on a loop of confusion where she herself doesn’t know what she wants to do even after finding out the reality of her father – which is totally unlike that Eeshal because her being politely independent & insightful was actually what we all liked about her in the beginning of the drama. I wish she had stayed headstrong till now too.

Soni is nothing but annoying & more than that she is creepy. The way she tries to woo Sunny is worth a puke. Plus I am amazed at how easily she convinced her family that Sunny is ready to get married to her whereas he never said all that. Arez was a typical man when he dealt with Eeshal so how come he wasn’t that typical of a ‘khud’dar bhai’ who could stop Soni from committing all these mistakes & being so outrageous.

Looks like in the due course of helping Eeshal Sunny has fallen for her because in the next episode I think he has already proposed to her. Thankfully there is some progress in the story & I hope the ending is just as similarly paced as this episode because we all are well aware of what & how all that has happened & we are more interested in finding out what will happen.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 17!

Token of advice for watching Kabhi Kabhi: Keep your friends close & Whatsapp closer. Yeah, this is exactly how I got through this & a few previous episodes of this drama.

I am glad Rehbar went against his father in law & went out of his house, at least it was something productive that he did since the drama has begun which was to walk on that staircase & never return back, in stead of hovering around like a zombie. I am glad he also took the useless Eva with him & I’d be more than happy if she doesn’t show up wearing a neon colored lipstick & pants again because it was a waste of any actor playing a side role.

I think the writer wants to surprise us all at the end of the drama by letting us know that Eeshal didn’t get divorced as she was pregnant but aan aan, too bad, we already know of the suspense. Obviously, that’s the only way they both will get back together because divorce never took place & they will find out from some Molvi sahab, which is obviously something they weren’t themselves aware of.

Finally, Arez was out of the sights for a few moments & it was a good break for me at least to not see an egoistic person like him on the screen. Now when he found his life getting back on track he walked an extra mile to give pointers to Eeshal for how she must take care of the baby ALI? I am guessing they both hurried in everything right – in getting married, in getting divorced & even in giving their unborn baby a name too? A bit too hard to digest I guess!

Eeshal’s father after having Sunny hover around her tells her to not shop because she ain’t over with the Idat & Eeshal testifies she comes back home by the time of Maghrib – A THIGH SLAPPER MOMENT. I never knew Iddat’s duration started off after Maghrib till Fajr!?!?! I am actually laughing at the newest of new Islamic concepts our learned writers are coming up with. Anyways, the main reason of the shopping sequence was to show Eeshal’s khala swoop in out of nowhere & tell her the details of her wedding that she didn’t know of.

Now when Eeshal found out about how her wedding took place, I recalled at how a normal wedding takes place too & that is by having guests & so many Khandaani Aunties hovering around the bride, praising her by telling how beautiful she looks. Eeshal who happens to be the INTELLIGENT one out of the two daughters, couldn’t crack that mystery herself for why no one came to meet her? Why even Eva didn’t come to see her off? Glad during all this while when her life is crashing down, she found a faarigh businessman Sunny who is even taking her for the baby shopping which calls for a EEEEUUUU moment. Who goes for a baby shopping with a male cousin? I mean…really? Is it a new trend in Pakistan these days?

I am still wondering how does the title Kabhi Kabhi fit the drama & the story? Kabhi Kabhi shadi ho jati hai? Kabhi kabhi bacha ho jata hai? Kabhi kabhi talaq ho jati hai jo k hoti nahi? Kabhi kabhi cousin chipak jata hai? Kabhi kabhi wapis mil jatay hain? Really, is this what it says? Really trying to find out.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 16!

Oh boy! 40 minutes of torture & sadly when I started watching, I knew what I was getting into. I think the writer by mistake kept the name of the drama as Kabhi Kabhi rather it should’ve been Chalte Chalte because it is a clear cut adaptation of SRK’s bollywood movie.

This episode had nothing but the needless yelling, continuous yelling, just for the sake of it yelling & only yelling. I wish the way soundtrack of this drama sounds larger than life, the story complimented the theme (only theme) of the OST because the OST itself sounds haunting. But yeah, it is larger than life in fabrication of lies & unnecessary twisting of simple things.

Sadly, the Arez-Eeshal couple is not ghalat fehmi ka shikaar, they’re a couple of egoistic people who put their egos ahead of everything. I think I am done with the fact that the writers are trying to malign the purest of the pure relation a girl can ever experience in her life & that is a relationship she shares with her Father. For god’s sake no father in this world is such a inhumane enemy of his own daughter. I’d appreciate if the writers stopped ruining the close-knit relations with their thick mindedness.

I swear I thought Arez was someone different & this is exactly what I thought about Eeshal too. Forget about Ahsan Khan & Mehwish Hayat, the reason why I liked this show was because of the chemistry AREZ & EESHAL shared. Not only their chemistry but both of the characters were extremely adorable & just perfect but seems like they were made perfect to make their perfection go down the drain the very next moment. Ohkay, couples do face misunderstandings but this doesn’t mean that they change their characteristics. Eeshal that we knew of was the one who was clear-headed & could see things through, she was an extremist in a good sense but before being that she was intelligent enough to use her brains, like the fact was established of her being intelligent by making Eva a dumb-wit but what has happened to Eeshal ever since? Arez was the one who knew how Eeshal’s father was but still he let his thinking subside & his father in law’s strategies get dominant on their relation. But then again, to me they both are not some people who are misunderstanding each other, they have their ego’s rolling & that’s all there’s to it.

Shahveer & Eeshal had NOTHING to begin with but the detail had to be shown that they both parted at a good note? Why was there a need of a good note in the first place? In just a 15 minute drive around the city, they both bid their forever farewells? Oh & yeah, Arez had his interview there, an interview at a restaurant where kids are whining & glasses are shattering, I never knew that a restaurant provided such a calm environment for an interview to be conducted. Too bad that they have tried to explain such mere details but they are not making any sense right now.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 15!

I don’t know why the simple black & white conversations & situations in Samira Fazal’s dramas are turned & twisted into grey, not once, not twice but always. Bari Apa, Silvatein & now Kabhi Kabhi. I mean I understand to keep the drama engaging writers keep coming up with unnecessary misunderstandings but to literally fabricate a thin-air lie in a crystal clear situation, only Samira Fazal can do that & by saying this I am by no means complimenting her prowess.

Arez told Eeshal that his mother & sister were insulted by her father & she, like a normal Eeshal would react, tried to ask her father about it but the way he changed the whole situation, it looked absolutely insane. I think Eeshal clearly knows how her father feels about Arez & his whole family, so Eeshal should’ve by now understood that he would do anything if he ever saw Arez or his family, so if Arez claimed that Eeshal’s father insulted his mother & sister, there was no need left to ask her father, in stead Eeshal should’ve told him to snap out of it. The whole twisting of the simple situation is nothing but a mind-teaser in Samira Fazal’s dramas I must say!

Ohkay & the funniest thing is, Eeshal is expecting & she is supposed to be the ONE who gets to feel & know about it just before anyone else does but seems like Arez knew of it way before Eeshal because it got discovered at the hospital. But after she got discharged she did come to Arez’s home, even then Arez couldn’t tell her? Then how come Rehbar got to know about it & he gave the news to Eeshal’s father because I don’t remembe Arez having a conversation with Rehbar about it? Arez’s family got to know about it too but still the funny question remains that the one who is going through this phase is the one who gets to find out about it  in the end, right after everyone else. This is something totally new & what I have never heard or seen before, seriously!

I really don’t quite catch how such busy busy businessmen like Sunny & Shahveer are just so idle that whenever they’re called by Eeshal’s father, they leave every single thing behind & come running for her. Is Eeshal really really that important for them all? Why is Sunny entertaining Soni clearly when he looks totally awkward in her presence. He knows she’s below his league so why even have a conversation with her. Clearly Soni is not getting the hint & is getting a bit too flirtatious with him but I think Sunny can do better & just shoo her away.

I think Shahveer being such a top-notch businessman would have an ounce of courtesy in him that when he knows his proposal when wrong in this particular family, he won’t come in front of Eeshal again & again especially when he knows that he was rejected by her. So, is there really a need left to show that Shahveer is again trying to fix the terms with Eeshal? Shahveer was never a friend of Eeshal in fact he was introduced to her by her father for a purpose which couldn’t reach a proper ending. I mean being a busy businessman what does he want to do by hanging out with a pregnant married lady who is clearly having issues in her marital life? It just doesn’t make any sense at all. Not only he visits her but also takes her for the dinner, I mean does he not have any other friends to go for a dinner with? Is Eeshal the only one left in his city? I mean c’mon! Plus ohkay we can put Shahveer’s shamelessness or bonga-pan aside but is Eeshal really that shallow that she couldn’t ignore the fix stirred by her father? Did she really have to go for a dinner with a guy who once proposed her? & by the way what was a jobless guy doing at such a high-end restaurant that just in the nick of time he snatched the moment of insulting his wife.

Of all the men in this drama, the most disappointing character is that of Arez. He is such a conditional person who thinks the world revolves only around him. If he thinks his things are going right, he’d be as happy as a hyena but if things go wrong he’ll start snubbing every single person in his sight? I just don’t understand why can’t he be rational at all? I am guessing he was the one who let go of the insult he endured at his wedding for which Eeshal’s father was responsible so now why is he making a mountain out of molehill & torturing Eeshal for things she has no idea of? All these taunts & tantrums are making him look like a self-centered person who can’t put anyone above him. Ohkay, I know he is dukhyara, halaat ka mara but his irrationalities still do not get justified especially after so much Eeshal has put in their relationship & in their marriage.

If at this point Eeshal has broken down & has gone out of the zoo-like home of Arez, I think her behaviour is still justified because just when Arez is not ready to be considerate & understanding towards her, then what is she left with & why is she supposed to take all the pain then? Arez knew who he was getting married to, so why lose a track & get all mad at her especially? I think in their relation Eeshal has done more that was needed & Arez has just taken her for granted. I thought he was different & would be different when they first got married but I am furious as to why he was turned into this hideously typical husband who only knows how to take things but not return back. Ever since they’ve gotten married, what has he done except take her to the beach & made her eat Gol gappas? That is just ridiculous.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 14!

Good that the story is moving forward but not happy about where it is going. It may get rational but what I don’t understand is a bunch of manipulative skanks shown in this drama, I mean is it really necessary that everyone has to be manipulative?

All this while I thought Rehbar would avenge for going bankrupt but he seems to have forgotten about it quite conveniently. I thought Eeshal would soon find out that how her husband & in laws were treated on the day of Baraat but she never got a chance of it. Well I think if they show something of that sort it means that the things will eventually be told when it requires but surprisingly Eeshal never got to know of it. I think to make things secrets is quite lousy & all that not-telling-the-truth manner does not help either. I just want to understand does it really happen? Clearly our dramas these days are based on the ‘so-called’ reality so how is it possible that no one gets to know what’s happening in this drama, with them or with people around them?

Eeshal’s character was ONE positive thing in the drama but sadly it has come down to a point where she seems totally immature. I think she was good enough initially when she had enough of a mind to see things through but sadly she has stopped doing it. All I see is her whining & running to her Daddy for how she is growing out of that marriage. I don’t even agree with Arez for being rude to her because he knows where she comes from & he has expected & seen her do every thing be it dealing with her cunning in-laws or doing the household chores which she never did before but when it comes to her family, Arez is being mean & doesn’t want to extend the respect or be considerate in dealing with her or her family even though he knows Eeshal only expects that.

I quite don’t understand that in Eeshal’s home…does no one really hear the door bell? Because every time if someone comes or leaves, no one finds out about it. Eeshal already had a loud spat with Arez in her home but later when she was walking in the lawn, we saw the dumbest Eva come asking her when did she arrive. Similarly when Arez’s mom & sister came to meet her, Eeshal never showed up. I am wondering how big or sound-proof their home is, or may be they lack basic ethics to show up whenever a guests comes to their house.

I thought the decency of the show would stay intact but sorry Eeshal’s father & his plans are downright ridiculous & beyond anyone’s imagination. No father of a pregger’s daughter would plan something so hideous just because he detests the choices made by his daughter. It is just so not on. Even Arez comes across as a guy without spine because he knows his wife’s expecting & still he has left her to be on her own. Rehbar may be trying to patch things up between them but still it was useless given the rigidness both Eeshal & Arez have shown.

To me every single person in this drama looks like someone else’s puppet. Eva is Rehbar’s. Shoaib is Eeshal’s father’s. Soni’s mother is her puppet. Eeshal is also a puppet of her father. Soni’s a puppet of Sunny. Get a life people & show some minds of your own.

Finally & I don’t know after how many episodes this weeks’ episode seemed fine to me. I didn’t have tough time watching it like I had in a previous few episodes, may be because this week there was a lot of emphasis on different situations together & no such petty situation was dragged so this one worked for me.

I once again state that the only factor why I am watching this show is the pairing of Mehwish Hayat & Ahsan Khan. Eeshal is having a tough time & has started to understand her in-laws in & out. Even though Arez’s mother is now resisting Soni’s brain-feeding, it still ain’t helping Eeshal in over-coming the issues because one way or the other, she is the target of every single person.

Arez should’ve by now understood how irrational his family has been & how supportive Eeshal is but still during the bouts of his depression he ends up bickering with Eeshal. Arez has now been asking too much from Eeshal When the drama started it showed pretty clearly how independent Eeshal was & how strong she had been plus she never put up with any of the pressures her father wanted to expose her to but I don’t understand why has she completely flipped? What’s stopping her from pursuing her career in interior designing? She is a smart intelligent girl who can work along with her husband but it’s kind of saddening to see a girl like her staying at home & doing things she knows she ain’t interested in. Ohkay, Eeshal loves Arez & wants to do every thing to please him but that doesn’t really mean she has to tolerate all the unreasonbility of her in-laws. No matter what she does, she is far behind so I think it would be better for Eeshal to just go out of the house & start working in order to reduce the daily dose of stress she gets while staying with her in-laws.

At start they did show a very nice picture of a rich girl who is so flexible to do everything she was capable of just in order to please her husband but they also showed how strong-headed Eeshal was, so to just subside those traits of her character & make her tolerate all this is just really odd.

I am glad Sunny wasn’t in this episode but it made me thinking what was the point of his character in the first place? & what was the flick of Soni & Sunny shown for? His character has just vanished without causing any turbulence which he was introduced for so I like I said some unnecessary things have had a lot of screen space in this drama which has brought it to a point of being just an ordinary drama.

Finally, they didn’t delay much & Arez quite clearly & early found out about the game plan of his father in law. His friend has backstabbed him & it was good that Arez got to know of it too. It was bad that Eeshal had to put up with his frustration because obviously her own father is the cause of this distress but I hope things work for this couple.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 12.

I honestly think that Samira Fazal should take a break or may be it’s going to be better if I don’t fall prey to the amazing cast that is hired to make hideous stories look good. Silvatein being one of the examples, I now think Kabhi Kabhi is going down the line too. Seems like the plot is missing & there is literally nothing to go ahead with therefore little things are being dragged to reach to the end of racing point of 20+ episodes.

Where this episode was a filler, it looked exactly like a last episode in which Sunny was in the limelight for being made fun off & the whole episode was dragged on it, this time it was Eeshal’s burnt hand that was a topic of everyone’s tragedy. I kept on wondering who actually deceives the watchman to meet the wife & when he entered the room, Eeshal looked oblivious. I mean she saw her father’s reaction at the hospital & all his yelling but still she was clueless at how her father is going to treat Arez. Any daughter knows where her father comes from therefore, Eeshal’s Eva-like behavior was a bit hard to digest. I am kind of confused that at times Eeshal looks absolutely strong who handles things perfectly but at times she is as spaced out as Eva that she forgets to check what’s been happening around. By this time Eeshal should’ve gotten a heed of what her father thinks of Arez but seems like there’s a time to it too.

Arez got fired with the help of his friend. That was one stone which hit the wall of predictability. I think it would’ve been better if Eeshal’s character had evolved in such a way where she could foresee where her father’s tangent was going. She should’ve done things to undo what her father was planning but to blindside her character in that respect is making it lose the charm. Otherwise, I remember I loved Eeshal’s character the most & still do but some changes for the better isn’t much to ask for.

I am still waiting to see the point of Eva being in the picture & waiting to see what Rehbar comes up with? Till now he is just finding himself win in petty things like making Eeshal’s marriage work with Arez even when his FIL (father-in-law) hates it, he is being reasonable with Eeshal to tick his FIL off. I think there should’ve been a bit more to his character.

Anyhow, this episode had nothing much to offer so I find it out of question to be discussing it too. I hope there’re some changes in either the pattern of the episodes or the characters because it’s getting tedious to just speak about things which aren’t progressing & are petty. Plus I hate the background music & OST. Looks like it’s some sort of an opera that we’re watching & it has some larger-than-life feel to it which doesn’t suit the drama which is based on gharelu masail without unke hall.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 11.

Episode 11, half way through the drama but still wondering about the simplest details. This was another one of those filler episodes where things were prolonged unnecessarily, but in the meantime the purpose of the drama is being defeated or may be there was no purpose at all. I want to know & even ask the writer about the purpose of this drama? Is there anything in particular about this story that we haven’t seen before? A rich girl gets married to poor guy, every single person is against their relation even after they have gotten married…so is there something more to it?

I am completely unable to make up my mind about this particular writing of Samira Fazal. There are so many questions which should’ve been answered by now, but the story is just not progressing in fact 1 – 2 conversations seem to be dragged to turn them into a whole episode. Why is Eva so dumb? What’s the point of her character? What does Rehbar want? Why’s Rehbar cold towards his wife & his wife doesn’t get the hint? Why is Sunny so much getting involved? What change is coming up in Eshaal & Arez’s relation? They for now just look like a couple who got married & has nothing else to do but just to tolerate the in-laws. The side characters are boring & awkward like anything.

Soni’s cunningness was justified when she took out her sword against Eeshal but then what’s been happening ever since ? She is twisting words, Eeshal’s defending, Arez understands at one point but on the other he sides with his mother. Their mother seems rational but get’s irrational every time Soni brain-feeds her, that’s all that’s been happening & there is not even a single new aspect being highlighted in the show. One episode seems fine but the other just ruins it or we can say even numbered episodes are appropriate but odd numbered episodes are odd as they get.

Shahraiz, Sunny, Soni & Eva are all awkward characters who have nothing to offer. Shahraiz’s unnecessary smirks are irritating, Soni is evil of the house, ohkay but is her role going to get better? Sunny is the new entry, but who visits the house of a married cousin every single day? The whole mazak urana bit was stretched & dragged & prolonged to the point where it seemed completely uncalled for. The first scene of Soni & Sunny was extra-lengthy followed by the whole mazak urana point. The clarification conversation Eeshal had with Sunny seemed totally scattered with no material to act or speak about whatsoever. It just looked like another scene which was done just for the sake of making a scene out of it, in order to cover some more minutes.

Not sure what’s happening & the preview show that the drama is going to get a bit more typical when Arez will lose his job. A man who obviously took over a mill of his son-in-law was unable to get another one fired – this was something which has never been seen before (coughing sarcasm). The only reason why I watch the show is because of Eeshal & Arez’s couple but I think there’s a need to add some spark before it gets too dull, which obviously has happened so far.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 10.

Even though the drama has a seen-before story, the execution makes us want to see it how it unfolds. I am kind of interested to see how their lives move along just because the protagonists share some strong chemistry & even though there are a few more negative characters, each one of the actors deserve appreciation for their effortless performances.

Arez’s family is everything any girl would never wish for but in the meantime Eshal has learnt how to tackle them just because she can now swirl their words in her own favour. Soni is a nightmare because she is only good at stirring negativity up. I am confused at what label should be given to Arez for being a husband like that. At times, he does seem nice – like a person who’d want to take care of his wife but on the other he is just a typical male who can’t take a stand for his wife in front of his family.

Arez obviously knows how negative his sister is, so he should be prepared to take care of things his way. I think the amount of sacrifice Eeshal is putting to make this marriage work is way more than Arez. Obviously Eeshal’s background never allowed her to experience things she is experiencing after getting married to Arez, so for this he must at least give some consideration & serious thinking to the things that are absolutely going wrong or against Eeshal because till now she has proved herself to be a good wife who doesn’t want much from him or his family but just a peace of mind.

Arez’s mother definitely has some double standards where Eeshal’s getting candid with her cousin may look bad to her but when Eeshal’s devar shares the room for a power nap with her bhabhi, it goes unnoticed. I think no matter how greedy people may get, no one goes into the room of the married brother to just sleep because that room has a facility of air conditioning. I know there may be certain real-life stories like this one but it wasn’t appeasing to see it happening on screen.

Eva as usual continues to disappoint where she makes a fuss & ridicules Eeshal’s bike-ride. I am sure Rehbar has his plan of revenge going on where he might sadly use Eeshal to get back to his father in law for what he did to Rehbar’s business.

I must say the moments Eeshal & Arez spend together were worth watching & it does come across as a nice message that no matter how hard it might get, if the husband & wife are ready to support one another as a couple, they can overcome anything. I hope Soni gets married to Eeshal’s cousin Sunny because she for sure was spell bound after seeing him around. Eeshal did get heed of the look in Soni’s eyes but that’s the positivity of Eeshal’s character that she doesn’t make fuss about such things & rather keeps it to herself. Eeshal at times may look like a naive girl who’s hopelessly in love – to a point where she may look immature but what makes her strong is the stamina to deal with the negative things on her own without leaning much on her husband & without complaining about & without sharing her difficulties with anyone.

So far the drama is going just on the right track so let’s see what happens next. It may not be something extra-ordinary to watch but it’s a decent attempt of a fine entertainment which can be given a try.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 07

Ohkay, honestly I’m sort of confused to come to a conclusion about this drama because one week they come up with perfect emotions & perfect episode but on the other we’re exposed to long, meaningless & dragged scenes with not even some good conversations. This episode was just ohkay or we can take it as a passing by episode.

I find Eshal very optimistic about things in life. Even though she personally heard what Soni & Amman spoke about & they actually came across as lalchi log but she didn’t even pay heed to what they said & in stead complained to her father for not taking care of her in-laws for which she walked a mile just to make her in-laws feel better & happy.

As far as I can understand, Arez’s mother is a rational & normal person who doesn’t bother about things much but the one who actually uses her as a puppet is Soni. I’m amazed at how quickly her brain works & how she thinks things through. I must say Sana Askari has done an amazing job in making Soni look completely irritating & I love the fluency of her expressions. She makes Soni look like an actual ‘nand’ who’s proving to be a nightmare for ‘bhabhi’. It is sad though that the mother actually forgets her calm & starts acting whenever she hears Soni complain about anything.

The whole gift’s lena dena scene was a bit too dragged, wasn’t acted out well & seemed unrealistic. The only people who worked well in that particular bit were Bushra Ansari & Mehwish Hayat. Eeshal wanted to keep things normal & hence, kept on covering for the blunders Eva made, whereas her mother-in-law forgot about Eshaal & focused more on things which were gifted to them.

Eeshal’s intentions & feelings were pure & she didn’t want to make some sort of a statement by bringing expensive gifts for her uncultured in-laws, but in fact she did use her father’s money to bring smile on their faces because for Eeshal everything is just as simple as it can get. Her father has money, she knows it, doesn’t make an issue of being someone from a higher class but grabs the money & do things her way. This is what I like about her character that’s been etched out so far. She cried & wanted to run to her Dad which made her look like a quitter & someone who got a bit too scared of Saas-Nand taunts but what she later did was unexpected. Plus she has had two nasty encounters with in-laws behind Arez’s back, one where Soni was speaking to Amaan against Eeshal & the other where Soni was caught red-handed stealing Eeshal’s things but still she didn’t lose her cool & didn’t even bother complaining to Arez about what had happened & this makes her a very wise person who’s adapting the change in her life very care-freely.

Ohkay, I must say, I don’t find Eva interesting at all. We’ve been told a million times that she’s dumb & there’s no need to prove by her ‘mai-hoon-hi-nahi-is-dunya-ki’ one-liners. She can’t tolerate humidity in front of Eshaal’s MIL (mother-in-law), she wants Fresh Orange Juice, she thinks Shahraiz thought of her as a Chicken Sandwich & was too scared of Hell being hot. I mean c’mon!!! She is not someone who’s mentally challenged nor she’s uneducated, so what’s the point of showing her as a FOOL, in literal sense that too. Eeshal mentions ‘Eva not being so smart’, Rehbar mentions ‘he got married to someone stupid’ & what my point is, I don’t get nor do I want to get the point or plot behind this. IF there is a reason behind Eva being such an un-intelligent dumbo, they should’ve established a plot by now. Did anything happen to her when she was a kid? Or any sort of trauma she went through? NO! Because at the time of shopping & glamorizing herself, she beats everyone around but when it comes about reactions on normal situations, she has a mind of a 6 y/o. Her character is really confusing & I don’t think there was a need to show someone as dumb without any background or solid reason.

Both of these families are unusual but the only normal people are obviously Arez & Eeshal. & yes, I found Arez completely funny when he literally threw the shirt just because his mother asked him to. I am guessing he’s the same Arez who took stand for Eeshal in front of her own dad & accepted the humiliation just because he only wanted Eeshal, but now when he has gotten her, he doesn’t even care about her feelings, while knowing too that she was already insulted & questioned about her choices of gifts. He should’ve ignored what his mother said because Eeshal bought those gifts for him with love.

I think we now we know Eeshal’s in-laws better, so I am hoping we see something interesting & less dragged. Wasn’t a great episode but hoping the next one would be better with smaller scenes.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 05

Apparently the hell broke loose in both the households when the couple decided to let go off their secret love & told their families about it. As usual both of their parents at first resisted them from committing such a mistake but they had to agree because Arez’s family had some ulterior motives based on the financial benefits whereas Eshaal’s father surrendered for now thinking he will make Eshaal grow out of her marriage with Arez.

Ehsaal, who at first didn’t seem to like Rehbar much at last relied on him as an elder brother to convince her father. Even though Rehbar agreed to speak to Dad but it was pretty evident that he had a plan of his own. I think Rehbar found peace in Eshaal’s below-the-belt choice of a spouse for herself because her father has always planned certain things when it came to his daughters’ weddings along with the standards he had, but this time his plans slipped from his hands & a middle class guy overtook him. Rehbar who plans to seek revenge for how he fell prey to Dad’s mean tactics, definitely felt a sense of victory because of Eshaal’s decision.

It came as a shocker where both of their parents acted submissively & agreed to get them married. Dad at first tried to insult Arez but he knew who he wanted & that was only Eshaal. Arez is least bothered about her background & her bank balance but just wants her as a wife, who he’d support by all means necessary. Eshaal’s father has for sure offered a job to Arez in his company but I am sure he will mistreat him.

Javed Sheikh’s plans started right at the beginning of their married life where he chose to insult Arez along with his family & in front of all the guests who had come with his family. Poor Eshaal didn’t know but was just as excited as any bride would be when she’d be having a love marriage. Even though Shahrez tried to retaliate but Arez just didn’t want to blow things out of proportion because he cared for Eshaal & he knew that she had no idea of what was going on. I think Javed Sheikh intended to insult the groom & the barati so that they’d go back & his plan of getting his daughter a divorce would materialize but all the credit goes to Arez for thinking rationally at that point & not making a fuss. The way Eshaal’s rukhsati happened was another shocker because it showed her family had no interest whatsoever in her marriage & Eva was kept in the dark too. Eva had no idea in what was going on & trusted her father for taking care of the things rightly but despite all that I believe she should’ve been there for her sister.

Whenever I see any such female characters who are in a dreamy world before getting married, it looks really annoying but I must say I loved Eshaal & her plans. Her excitement, her happiness, her thoughts were just adorable & what made it better was the direction which helped in executing the right emotions perfectly & made them come across to us as realistically as it could get. Eshaal, just like any other single girl, who was about to get married to the love of her life, was over the moon at the thought of being with Arez & Arez handled her feelings with care & made certain promises of making her happy after the wedding.

I loved their chemistry & the way they acted out as a newly wedded couple was just perfect. Arez who was disappointed by the treatment he received at her house didn’t even bother to mention it in front of his wife because while speaking to her he got the hint of Eshaal’s obliviousness & he knew that she was unaware of what just happened. Eshaal, who was sent away by her father halfheartedly didn’t pay much heed to it & just forgot everything when she got a chance to be with Arez. His mother sent a clear few signals of what sort of ‘saas’ she would be but where Eshaal tried to understand her point, Arez put a stop to his mother’s anger.

Their post-wedding conversations & the love they had in each other’s eyes was shown beautifully. Eshaal didn’t come across as a naive girl who had unrealistic approach towards marriage, in fact, to me she looked really cute when she was telling how she plans to lead a life with her husband. She, for now is just a hopeless romantic who things married life would be all about motorbike rides with her husband & road-side snacking at any time of the day. Sadly they were interrupted by Soni right in the middle of their imaginary world & that’s not going to be the last time it’s going to happen.

I know the story may seem really predictable from here onward but I am so far loving the realistic execution of the drama. The story is progressing at a right pace, the direction seems perfect, production seems top-notch & what makes is better is the perfect performances by the actors. Each & every character is very relate-able & it makes us want to see more. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 04

Ohkay, so that was one well-directed episode. I totally liked what I saw & the little but interesting progress in the story was nicely executed & not to forget, at the right time.

Rehbar, who at first seemed rude & nosy actually has suffered a business loss & that has made him the way he is now. Like I said before that Eshaal’s father is actually making business deal with Shahveer in terms of getting Eshaal married to him but didn’t know he had done it previously as well. Rehbar, who ran a mill of his own was run into bankruptcy because of his own father-in-law. I believe that Javed Sheikh actually can’t tolerate anyone in his competition when it comes to business, therefore, his conversation with Rehbar made it a bit more clear of the reason why he is so persistent in getting Eshaal married to Shahveer.

I enjoyed the conversations a lot this time because they gave an insight to everyone’s characters a bit more. Rehbar who believes Eva had low IQ was forced into marrying him by her father & later Eva proved Rehbar right when she chose to tell her father about getting belittled by Rehbar. She just didn’t want to understand her husband & his mental pressure which he is coping up with & for that she failed to see him depressed. Eva even though loves Rehbar but she is a bit too comfortable in her zone for which she doesn’t actually care because for her, her father has given a great security to her husband, so for Eva things are perfect. Javed Sheikh’s conversation with Rehbar actually told more of how he treats & what he thinks of him. I am sure Rehbar has a few plans of his own because he has slightly told Eva of what he is capable of & what he’d do in the near future. I am sure Javed Sheikh will pay for what he has done.

Eshaal & Arez, even though never wanted to, have fallen in love with each-other. Arez who stopped himself even after being convinced by his friend just couldn’t resist confessing to Eshaal too. & on the other hand Eshaal broke the ice & confessed first because she is too frightened by the thought of going to the US for good & never being able to see Arez again. That scene was really intense when they gave words to the feelings they had for each other. It was good that Arez didn’t hold back as well & just put Eshaal to ease by telling her that he loves her too.

Eshaal has finally taken a stand in front of her father because she really doesn’t want to get married to Shahveer, she being a strong-headed girl found it easy to voice her opinion right on her father’s face but on the other hand Arez will have to face difficulties – a lot of them, because his family just wants him to earn so that they can lead a peaceful life, his younger siblings fail to understand or take care of their elder brother’s feelings & his mother is too strict & stern to just listen to him. Soni, who has yet to get married thinks her brother has no right to have a life of his own, which is sad.

Over all it was the best episode so far because of those intense conversations with some amazing acting skills. I love how Mehwish Hayat has played the role of Eshaal, she is just flawless. Arez & Eshaal make a perfect on-screen couple & yes by saying that I’d now say that I have a huge expectations from this drama. I hope it keeps progressing up without a single decline. Just can’t wait to see what Rehbar would come up with.

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 01.

The drama has begun on a good note with decent characterization & more importantly no such difficult character till now. I liked how the whole idea progressed & that is just too good for a start. The cast has been chosen wisely for which I am definitely giving a try to this one. But yeah, I did find the names a bit too hard to understand & pronounce, I guess simpler names would’ve sufficed too. :)

The plot of the story revealed a bit too clearly when the encounter of ‘burger’ & ‘bun kabab’ happened. Ahsan Khan (Arez) belongs to a middle class, where he is the bread-earner of the family with his fair share of responsibilities which he has to fulfill. His family consists of his mother, a sister & his brother. Where the whole family is dependent on Arez, his mother wants him to not even think of getting married before his younger sister does.

The other family is that of Javed Sheikh’s who is a business tycoon with two of his daughters. I found the idea of ‘ghar damad’ in the elite class a bit too nicely clad because if a son-in-law lives with his wife’s family in the middle class, it is considered as something awful whereas being in the upper social class, I guess this taboo is totally ignored beneath the wad of cash. Ally Khan (Rehbar) is married to Nosheen Shah (Eva) – the eldest daughter living with her father. Rehbar, who not only is involved in his father-in-law’s business is also quite interested in the life of sister-in-law Mehwish Hayat (Ishaal). Ishal, who has studied in the UK, the youngest & for now the center of everyone’s attention, is actually being forced to get married whereas she thinks she just isn’t ready for such a commitment. Ishal’s father is being a bit too keen to hook her up with this over-aged (as compared to Ishaal of course) but well-settled businessman Shahraiz, but I kind of liked the idea that Ishaal at first got uncomfortable & then candid with Arez, who happens to be his employee. Even though Shahraiz is also well settled but he is ‘down-to-earth’ like Ishaal’s father labeled him as, which seemed to be something unacceptable in their mind-set.

Ishaal’s character so far looks boisterous & that of a strong-headed extrovert girl who loves things her way. Arez who is confident about himself for sure is calm & decent with just one motivation & focus to do everything well for his own family. His family seems really close-knit where his mother completely relies on him as he is the eldest.

I found it odd that even though Ishaal disagreed & showed clear signs of not being interested in Shahraiz, her father still insisted her meeting with him. He does look like a decent man but defintely he’s not the types Ishaal would fall for. Interestingly, he has given the responsibility to Arez for taking care of Ishaal all this while she refurbishes their office which for sure will lead things the way they both couldn’t have imagined.

I liked the feel of the drama & all the characters as well. I feel the actors are doing their jobs nicely & I wish, I really wish that this drama in terms of story-line proves to be a good roller-coaster ride rather than the characters taking those flips & turns which would get too tedious to follow. I say that after giving a thought to writer’s recent drama ‘Silvatein’. So for now I am really excited to see how the story progresses as it has started off really well.
