Ohkay so, these episodes of Meer Abru once again took the story forward & focused on the changing dynamics of the entire Murad family on both personal & professional levels. Where some of the family members did their best to do the right thing, others were adamant on doing everything that is wrong. This is what I love about Meer Abru that this drama is like a complete package which covers all the aspects of the characters’ lives, that too in such a brilliant manner!
Jamal & Ghazanfar made sure to bring Haya into their home because they wanted to rectify the mistake that Waleed committed. Waleed obviously still fails to see his wrongdoing & continues to argue that he has nothing to do with Haya even after he knows that she is expecting their baby. Zebi tried really hard to talk Jamal out of his decision but I liked how Jamal slapped her with a bitter reality of how she has failed as a mother. Zebi really can not take the credit for being an ideal mother to both Saim & Waleed because like Jamal said, she was always a bit too pre-occupied with her social life. Even though what Zebi wants is something evil but luckily for her, Meer is onto achieving exactly that without even worrying about the consequences or the fact that he is hurting his own family by doing all of this. Zebi will never openly admit that this is what she wants but deep inside she is quite happy that Meer is working in the favor of her agenda as well.
Haya might have come to Waleed’s house but she exactly knows that she is just being imposed on him. Even though it is unfortunate that Haya is facing all of this but then she has also realized that this is not anybody else’s mistake but her own. At least Haya’s bubble has burst therefore she won’t be too affected after witnessing more atrocities that Waleed will commit because this is something that he is not even hiding or sugar-coating in front of Abru as well as Haya. Jamal, Ghazanfar, Saira & even Meer have showed support to Haya but then she is completely aware of the circumstances in which she has been brought to this house so it is still very hard for Haya to act normal & come to terms with everything.
Meer has now openly declared that he is going to part his ways with Saim & that he can not continue to work with him. This has obviously not only forced Jamal & Ghazanfar to think about Meer’s reasons but has also forced Saira to speak up. Jamal & Ghazanfar are still in the dark about the fact that Meer loved Abru & he is doing it all on the basis of a misunderstanding but Saira tried to make everyone realize that Meer must be having a strong reason behind it. Both Saim & even Meer do not want to put Abru in an awkward position in front of Jamal & Ghazanfar but they will eventually find out as this has now started affecting their family business as well as their reputation so they both are not going to take it lightly. Also, one of the best scenes this week was Saira’s response to Ghazanfar’s same old accusation of her failing as a mother. Everything that Saira said actually did force Ghazanfar to think for a second about all that she has done her entire life. Saira should give it back to Ghazanfar more often, I’d love to see that happen again & again.
Well, just when I was super happy with the fact that there are no annoying characters in this drama & that everyone has something special to contribute towards the story, we got Maha. Maha happens to be Meer’s cousin but she is best of friends with Saim & she seemed a bit dumb headed to not really acknowledge the fact that Saim was now married & that she was making Abru totally awkward with her immaturity.
Overall, these two episodes of Meer Abru were perfect just like all the previous episodes & now it seems another chapter is going to be unfolded with Maha in the picture because we all can predict what she is here for. Meer was once again seeking pleasure with the fact that Maha’s chumminess with Saim was making Abru a bit uncomfortable, it was like he could see that Abru will now understand what Meer goes through seeing her with Saim as his wife. Meer’s character has to be the most interesting aspect of this drama because it is the same Meer who handled Haya Waleed’s case with so much of maturity but when it comes to Abru & Saim, he is not giving them a benefit of doubt. Super interesting so far. Can not wait to see the remaining episodes. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Meer Abru.

Finally! We are getting to watch few decent episodes of Aangan as it is headed towards an ending. Tonight’s episode was well written and even though for the most part I had a really difficult time staying awake while watching this drama, this recent episode had my undivided attention. With the exception of the last scene which was a complete let-down, this episode had some emotional moments and the latest developments were quite interesting as well.
Tonight’s episode showed how the past experiences of all the characters had shaped up their present personalities. Jamil’s scenes suggested that he was more mature and serious now. His father’s death had changed him even more than before. The scene in the graveyard was emotional and well-executed. Ahad Raza Mir nailed all his scenes yet again and made it easy to understand Jamil’s state of mind. Jamil is withdrawn and thinking about more serious issues like taking responsibilities and running the house. I especially liked Alia and her mother’s conversation when Alia told her that Azhar had been murdered. Whatever Alia said basically summed up how Azhar never got the respect he deserved when he was alive and now that he was dead, the ‘compensation’ was more of an insult. In the previous episode, Jamil too refused to take the money. Through some of the scenes the writer also showed how the partition was not the ‘happy ending’ most Muslims were eagerly looking forward to. The partition made it difficult for families which had lived together for years to communicate with each other. Alia and her mother didn’t have the option of going and meeting Jamil and his family because of the partition.
Azhar and Alia always shared a special bond and it was good to see that Alia’s reaction to the news of his death was covered well. The way she gets scared and hallucinates goes well with everything she has been through. The fact that in her ‘dream’ Israr was the one who brought Azhar’s body to her was another pleasing and emotional aspect of this development. Alia and Jamil’s love story it seems has finally ended since they are no longer shown thinking about each other and they are busy worrying about other things. I was hoping that Ahsan and Alia will end up together but the way this episode ended, it seems like they are not meant to be. It remains to be seen whether this was another one of those misunderstandings caused by Alia’s over-judgmental nature or an ending to what seemed like the perfect love story. Shehroze Sabzwari has been quite likable in this role but in the last scene tonight, his acting was over the top and he looked like a hero from the 80s films because of his performance. Mawra Hocane has done really well especially given the fact that Alia’s character got quite annoying in the middle. The last scene however was yet again another one of those scenes which makes you wonder why the director added these filmy touches to a script which did not need such a treatment.
Chammi did not get a lot of screen time tonight but her scenes clearly showed that she too had accepted her fate and was no longer the fun, bubbly girl who always had a smile on her face no matter what. Her comment about taking over after Bua passed away was yet another reminder of where she saw herself in the next few years. She was no longer hopeful that Jamil will rescue her. Sajal Aly is an exceptional actor with a definite screen presence and I am still hoping that Chammi will have an unexpected happy ending.
The scene covering Israr’s exit made me really angry, Bua deserves the worst possible ending for treating Israr like that. Loved Hassan Noman’s performance tonight and felt for Israr – he got nothing but hate all these years yet he never complained.
Tonight’s episode was much better than many of the previous episodes and it basically went to show that with such an exceptional cast, it was actually quite easy to make a drama which would have resonated with the viewers. I hope that the last few episodes will be just as good as this one. The timeline continues to be confusing since Chammi’s daughter looked older and it also seemed like it wasn’t the same child. Also, the scenes in the car today didn’t look real, the wheels weren’t even moving! The preview of the next episode showed Alia and Safdar meeting after so many years. Waiting to hear what Safdar has to say!

Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas didn’t take the story forward but it still showed how Saba’s character was evolving. This episode mainly focused on Saba’s job & Ammar’s stance on Saba’s job as well as everyone else’s opinion on her job. Did I remind you guys enough that this episode was about Saba’s job? If not then let me do that again, Saba is keen for a job & now we will get to see what she will have to do in order to get & do a job.
Saba’s GPA has made Ammar insecure. It is obvious that Ammar is finding it hard to accept that his wife has it in her to draw attention towards her. Ammar is the kind of person who wants to be the front runner & can not tolerate if anyone diverts the attention away from him & ever since he & Saba have gotten married, Ammar is finding it hard to treat Saba as an equal. Ammar has his own ways of pleasing Saba but that does not include uplifting, encouraging or supporting her or her dreams. Ammar just wants Saba to spend her entire life living the way Ammar desires but he is unable to realize that it is getting suffocating for Saba & she is a human being with her own dreams & now her dream revolves around her job. I think I didn’t mention job enough in this paragraph so trying my level best. Job!
In this episode, it was shown brilliantly that even though no one saw any problems with Ammar before, just because of his treatment with Saba, everyone has slow & steadily started to realize that he is a narcissist & an eccentric person who only gives Saba a hard time. Sonia, out of all the people has now started to be vocal about it but no one else sees the problem in him. Yes, Ammar’s sister Nida also joked about Ammar’s insecurity but then, since everyone is so used to babysitting Ammar, they don’t even want to hear any complains about Ammar or his behaviour. Sonia has started sympathizing with Saba but then there’s not much that she can do apart from supporting or encouraging Saba. Sonia, Farah, Ammar’s friends & even Ammar & Saba’s parents feel that Saba should do a job but then Ammar is openly speaking against it. Ammar can obviously not tell everyone his actual reasons that is why he puts Saba down trying to convince everyone that she is not capable of doing a job. Oh, did I mention this episode was about Saba’s job?
The highlight of this episode for me was the change in Saba’s attitude & her behaviour. Saba did promise herself that she will do what it takes to find herself a job only to prove it to Ammar that she is not less capable or beneath him. Saba obviously knows the reality behind Ammar’s opposition, it is purely his insecurity & jealousy but Saba obviously is not going to sit back & watch him rule her because of his petty reasons. Saba has also slowly started giving it back to Ammar & when she can not do that, she just walks away as if she is not allowing Ammar to insult her because this is what he enjoys the most. Saba’s promise of finding a job showed that she wanted to change the way things were rolling out in her life, which was good!
Saba’s father Faraz contacted Ammar to help him find a solution about his property dispute, which Ammar promised to help him about. This was obviously Ammar’s way of trying to burden Saba with another favour of his. The way Faraz’s tune changed & he started speaking against his own daughter was the worst scene of this episode. He of all the people should know Saba enough to not fall for Ammar’s lies but then, it seemed as if his property meant a lot to him, a little more than Saba as well.
Overall, this episode of Khaas was good. This drama does not have something super new or unique to share but it seems that everything has settled & the execution has started to make a lot of sense. I think the first thing Sanam Baloch should do is fix her voice because at times she sounds like a chalk on a blackboard. The entire cast is performing really well but there isn’t anyone who is like extraordinarily outstanding. I wish there was more to the character that Anam Gohar is playing because she has been literally used as a filler in this drama which is a shame because after Yeh Raha Dil, she has proved that she can act well. Anyways, this drama surely has improved over the last few episodes but I wish I could say that about the dialogues because they continue to be quite mediocre. Ohkay so, the writing of Asma Nabeel, direction of Shahid Shafaat & the production of Next Level & Six Sigma Plus Entertainment; Surkh Chandni is the new drama airing on ARY Digital which is going to focus on the journey of an acid attack victim. The first set of episodes of Surkh Chandni were well executed and established the plot of the story in detail. Even though dramas like these do tend to get slow in the middle but I am glad that they have started off with double episodes because it is going to help a lot with the pace. The first two episodes introduced the characters & their personalities in such a way that I didn’t have a hard time connecting with them.
Amaan (Osman Khalid Butt) & Aida (Sohai Ali Abro) are maternal cousins & they both are in love with each other. Amaan & his mother Safina (Huma Nawab) are not financially stable but that is also because Amaan is still studying & is looking for a job. Aida comes from a middle class family too but her brother has taken the financial responsibility of the entire family.
Aida’s family includes her father Badar (Rashid Farooqi), her mother (Lubna Aslam), brother Mukhtar (Hassan Ahmad), his wife Shumaila (Mansha Pasha) & their daughter. Aida is the peace-maker of the family & she always makes sure to pacify the situation when it gets rough between her mother & Shumaila. Badar is a very conservative father who believes that a girl may or may not pursue education but she should actually know how to be a good homemaker & that is why Aida is the one who has taken the responsibility of household chores because she has been told to do so. Aida’s mother doesn’t share the same mindset as Badar but she can not do much for Aida as she knows that it’s the men of her family who make the final decisions.
Aida has a subdued personality, she has kind of trained herself to be that way because she is well aware of the kind of environment she is in plus the kind of mentality her family has but it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have dreams. Aida loves Amaan & she wants to get married to him, that is also because she kind of sees it as the only escape from this suffocating environment of her house.
Jawwad (Asad Siddique) happens to be the neighbour of Aida & he is not someone a girl will ever idealize to get married to but he has his sights on her & continues to pester Aida every chance he gets. Jawwad has been married before but it seems his first marriage ended on a bad note too but that hasn’t changed Jawwad at all. He comes from an affluent family & his mother Humera (Gul e Rana) has instilled it in her son that he is entitled to everything that he wishes for.
Shumaila is basically playing the character of Balaa in Surkh Chandni. She is bitter, manipulative & conniving & that is the reason she has formed a relationship with Jawwad because she sees it as an opportunity of getting financial support from him. Shumaila tries really hard to make sure that everyone in Aida’s family accepts Jawad’s proposal but that is when Amaan & Safina prevent it from happening & suggest that Aida & Amaan should get married as soon as possible. It was definitely a pleasant surprise to see how everything worked in Aida’s favor where Badar rejected Jawad’s proposal & chose Amaan over him, considering the fact that Aida loved Amaan & he loved her. It definitely came as a surprise considering the kind of introduction Badar got so it was nice to see him thinking about his daughter’s happiness & telling his son to back off. I liked how everything fell into its place seamlessly & turned into Aida’s favor. Jawad is upto no good & thanks to the over-elaborate promos that we all know what is going to happen next!
What I liked the most about the first two episodes of Surkh Chandni was that the director kind of set the tone of the story & gave it a gloomy feel because it sure is going to be such a drama which will show us the pain & agony of an acid attack victim. The director didn’t really commercialize it & kept it very realistic, which was nice. I also liked how they showed the daily-life struggles of regular people in such a realistic manner, minute details like Badar saving up some money for Aida’s marriage & Aida going to basic parlour in the vicinity of her locality made it all very realistic & relatable. I also liked that the director & the actors did not give an OTT treatment to the characters & kept the look & styling very natural.
Overall, the first two episodes of Surkh Chandni definitely kept me engaged right till the end & as the episodes ended I found myself wanting to see more. The first two episodes kind of had all the flavors that one would want to see in a drama but yes, it is going to get more serious from now on. Sohai Ali Abro has definitely come a long long way & I say that because I have seen her drama after years so I really found an improvement in her acting. She made Aida’s character quite admirable. Asad Siddique has really done a great job as well & the more I see his work, the more I feel he is getting comfortable in front of the camera. Osman Khalid Butt was natural too. The very first scene did seem a bit too filmy but I am glad everything after that mellowed down & became realistic. I am happy to see Mansha Pasha in a negative character but I am not sure what has made the stylists think that a wig can make a girl look villainous? In my opinion it makes a character look more cartoonish because of the total unnatural & unreal effect. A crooked look can be given to any character with the help of makeup so not sure why the heavy relying on wigs. I think Balaa has set quite a trend in ARY Digital dramas & everyone seems to be following it now. Mansha Pasha acted brilliantly but I still had a hard time accepting her in a negative role because she seems as in she is too nice for that, but it is good that she has opted for a different role this time. The direction, production value, camera work, editing, everything was perfect & it showed that the entire team worked in harmony to achieve these results. Definitely looking forward to the next episodes & definitely recommending it too. Please share your thoughts about these episode of Surkh Chandni.

Sakina Samo is also set to get the film n front of the audience. Her movie is titled Intezar and it is in the post-production phase right now. Sakina Samo is both directed and produced the film while it is written by none other than Bee Gul who has given us some powerful scripts in dramas.
She called the movie a labour of love and it has Samina Ahmed, Kaif Ghzanavi, Khalid Ahmed, Adnan

Baaji is the comeback movie of none other than Meera Jee. The film has been in news since the day it was announced. Initially, it was speculated that Baaji will be based on the life of Meera Jee but the rumours were later refuted. The film has a huge cast with names like Mera, Amna Ilyas, Osman Khalid Butt, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Ali Kazmi related to it.

Theatre has also been a largely hit like all the industries. The film industry went into the shambles and has taken quite a few years to grow back. Theatre is one form of arts that has been around for centuries and people have always loved working and watching the medium. Chhalawa and Wrong No.2 are two Pakistani movies that came out this Eid. People were not anticipating both a lot and many thought that the box office collections will not be very great. However, Eid was an Eid for both these movies and they have done extremely well on the whole holiday.
Wrong No. 2 is a sequel and had Sami Khan and Neelum Muneer as the lead actors. The film has done extremely well and has went n to gross over 11 crores in 5 days. The film is in cinemas still and has gotten an impressive response:
Chhalawa is Wajahat Rauf’s third film and had Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui in lead roles. The film was not getting some very good predictions on the box office and the reviews were not great either but the film has grossed over 11 crores too.
Both films did great on the box office and are still going great!
Everyone is familiar with the situation between India and Pakistan. Kashmir issue is the most burning problem between the two. With the recent clash between the two countries, everyone got in danger when even the celebrities in India started taking part n war-mongering.
However, the Twiter was in frenzy yesterday when the Twitter account of veteran actor Amitabh Bachan got hacked. He has millions of followers and they were shocked when his display picture changed to that of Prime Minister Imran Khan with messages of love for Pakistan:
The same is now happening to Adnan Sami’s Twitter with his display picture gone and messages of peace and love for Pakistan appearing. Adnan Sami is already trolled a lot for his statements against Pakistan and ow his Twitter is hacked:
This was done by some Turkish hackers and let’s see if it will stop here or more celeb accounts are going to get compromised!
