Shabnam is a Bangladeshi stage and film actress, her real name is Jharna Basak while she used Shabnam as her stage name. She was first introduced in Pakistani film industry by actor Waheed Murad who gave her the lead role in his film Samundar back in 1968. Shabnam worked in Lollywood for almost three decades and has appeared in 180 films. She left Pakistan and Pakistani film industry in 1990s.

While talking about how actresses today focused more on their dresses rather than acting and how back in their time, actresses were dressed according to their characters, Sangeeta lent her two cents about award shows and the latest obsession of Pakistani actresses with gowns.
“I really feel weird when I see our heroines, our actresses copying Hollywood at award functions. They wear such short dresses; someone with a backless, someone exposing their legs. Why don’t they understand that they’d look absolutely gorgeous in their eastern wear,” said Sangeeta.
“It doesn’t look look good when someone leaves their own culture and adopts the others’,” added the veteran actress.
While Sangeeta made a point how gowns weren’t something that pleased her, Fariha Jabeen shared that she was alright with the change that came with time. “I think things need to change with time,” added Jabeen stating that we needed a fusion between modernity and our own culture.

In a shocking and rather sickening turn of events, veteran actress Salma Zafar has called out actor and producer husband wife duo, Javeria and Saud over non payment of dues for the services rendered to their production house.
In a thirty five minute long video message, Salma Zafar revealed that Javeria and Saud owed payments to a number of people including actors and technicians who had worked with their production house in the past few months.
The veteran actress shared how Saud had abused a number of employees using harsh words and indecent language vowing not to pay a penny to anyone, even those who had a meager amount, as low as 7000 rupees too.

Pakistan lost another legend s veteran actress Roohi Bano is no more. Roohi Bano is a name known to millions. She made a huge place for herself with her talent and will always be remembered as one of the greatest artists of the Pakistani entertainment industry.
Roohi Bano has been in a very bad state for quite some time now. She was suffering from schizophrenia and also spent some time at the Lahore Fountain House due to her illness. She suffered from the said disease after she lost her son. Roohi Bano was suffering from kidney failure and was also a patient of diabetes. She was on a ventilator for pat 10 days at a hospital in Istanbul where she breathed her last.

Veteran TV actress Naila Jaffri has been shifted to her residence after getting discharged from Liaquat National Hospital in Karachi.
Senior actors Talat Hussain, Asmat Iqbal and others reached the hospital to see Naila after, the news of her cancer treatment and blood donation went viral on social media. They shared that the actress is a strong woman and has fought bravely against the disease, reported a local publication.
According to the hospital authorities, Naila Jaffri is under treatment and will be in good health soon. It was also reported that the actress was never in a critical condition and the news was exaggerated on social media.
Veteran TV actress, Naila Jaffery who is undergoing cancer treatment at Liaquat National Hospital needs financial and moral support. The actor who was diagnosed with cancer last year also needs blood group B+ for her treatment.
Playwright and lyricist Ali Moeen, who visited her Friday evening, said the actress is suffering from ovarian cancer. “The illness surfaced four to five months ago. She is at the third stage now,” he told The Express Tribune.
“Therapy was done today to contain the disease but her body is not responding… [however] Naila is in high spirits.”
“She wants to be shifted to Shaukat Khanum hospital…needs a lot of support, both moral and financial.”
He said many from the showbiz fraternity have shown their concern for the cancer-stricken artist. “Everyone has been visiting the hospital to see Naila. Sangeeta apa and Adnan Jilani, among others came today. I insist everybody come together to support her.”
Earlier this month, Naila spoke to Faisal Qureshi during his morning show and revealed more about her disease. She narrated a bitter reality of her life, but remained strong and stressed upon the need to spread awareness among the public.
Naila Jaffery started her acting career in the 90s, she’s one of the most versatile actors of Pakistan. According to The Express Tribune, Federal Government of Pakistan has offered financial help to the actress. Naila will be given a sum of Rs1 million for her contributions to Pakistani cinema.

Today, Pakistan lost its another legendary artist, unfortunately. The Veteran Pakistani television actor Sohail Asghar passed away on 13th November 2021. According to family and friends, Sohail Asghar was sick for a longer period of time. He also went through a major stomach surgery, one and half year ago. His family sources have confirmed his death. He was living in Bahria Town Lahore.

Rashid Mehmood said, “I am Rashid Mehmood, you people know me. I have attached an electricity bill picture which you will see. This is the electricity bill of 45 thousand rupees for using 701 units. I have survived four heart attacks, now, I say to Allah, ‘oh Allah, why did you give me this life. Was I just alive to see this, why have you saved me, how can I pay this bill, our politicians and the governors are the looters, they have been living a privileged life but the public is being served with heavy bills, there is no work, we are hardly surviving. I have chosen the right path, it is easy for me to be with the thieves to fulfil my requirements but I don’t want to do that due to my conscience. I have to show my face to Allah. Allah will forgive me but I am very sad about this situation, O Lord, I am born in a very wrong country, this is what we are getting in return for our services. For God sakes, this is what we are living for, I am in pain, I am in grief, I am worried, I don’t want to live, let my family survive on its own after me, I am done, I was born in the wrong country. I could have lived a better life abroad. We gave everything to Pakistan. Oh my Allah, have mercy on us”

I have always paid all my limited bills with my hard-earned money because I knew my limitations and have spent my life according to my earnings. Our parents have not left us big properties but they taught us honesty and dignity. First of all, my protest was for people, my necessities are being fulfilled”. We met over a dinner, during which Humayun clearly said that he didn’t have the capital to start a production house. Ahmed Nasib then offered to finance him and gave Humayun Saeed a cheque for one crore rupees at his request. That’s how he started his production house.”

Veteran actor Nouman Ijaz blasted the entertainment industry over the ongoing payment crisis along with a lack of empathy from channels and producers towards actors during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nouman made the shocking revelations on a chat show with Rafay Rashidi, revealing how a number of actors have not been paid their dues even after years, including himself. “Two channels owe me as much as Rs65 million even after four years.”
Noman then went on saying that actors in Pakistan are working like ‘donkeys’. “The entire system is corrupt. When a producer has to ask his broadcaster for payments, he has to “beg him” for it’” he said further adding that even during the pandemic, channels blackmailed producers for content, who then blackmailed actors that they would be blacklisted if they didn’t work.
Noman also claimed that many actors had to hide that they tested positive for COVID-19 due to the fear of losing work.
