Turning into an actor and cashing your skills the best seems one of the easiest ways to become rich. However, like any other profession, even this one demands much of your time, hard work and talent, especially when you are newly launched.
Now that our television industry has groomed a lot and is now enjoying a huge viewership not only within the country but all over the world, our artists seem wise enough to cash their talent the best they can. Out of many popular celebrities who are considered as an expensive actor to afford, here are the top 5 actors who are demanding high packages from producers.
1) Fawad Khan
Is it really shocking to find this out? Fawad Khan has turned into a leading actor after his blockbuster hits like ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’. As per the resources, he tops the list of most expensive actors in Pakistani film Industry.
2) Faisal Qureshi
Faisal Qureshi and Humayun Saeed can be considered as the real heroes of this revival of drama industry who are cherished by the Pakistani audience for whatever role they are seen in. Faisal, after realizing his real worth in this field has also increased his rates and has been lately choosing the projects on the basis of packages been offered.
3) Mikaal Zulfiqar
Either it is his luck or his good looks which have contributed largely in turning this model a real actor. Besides the fact that he is considered to be an important player in the showbiz industry, the fact persists that there are people who do not find themselves convinced with his acting skills!
Following the footsteps of Fawad Khan, Mikaal has too increased his worth and now demands six digit packages.
4) Sajal Ali
Now this one has literally shocked me. This young actress is currently considered to be an expensive actress at the moment. It was previously that I shared a news stating that Sajal was receiving threats on calls in Karachi. She has officially proclaimed herself as an actress who is expensive to afford, however, regardless of her high rates, she is seen frequently on different channels, playing major roles.
5) Saba Qamar
Saba is surely a multitalented Pakistani icon who is loved by the audience regardless of factors like age, culture and location. She received a huge applause for portraying so much negativity on screen as Saman in drama serial ‘Maat’ and then playing a powerful character in dramas like ‘Na Kaho tum Mere nahi’, ‘Yahan Pyar nahi hai’ and ‘Ullu Baraye Farukht nahi’.
She is also selecting projects on the basis of packages which are been offered currently.

So we saw some more shocking developments in the show this week. Ahad’s cheap behavior in the last episode was just a demonstration; he literally crossed all his limits in this episode! His obsession with Haaniyah has just reached another level now. He is practically after Haaniyah’s life!
He is still under the misconception that Haaniyah is in love with him and she is behaving like this because she is upset with him. Trying to get close to her, blocking her way, holding her hand again and again, all these tactics were disgusting in my opinion. Does he not realize that she is his brother’s wife now? And if this was not enough, he gave her the speech of ‘I love you, I can’t live without you, leave Ahmed and come back to me’. After this speech, he deserved a slap from Haaniyah. All this is simply a game for Ahad! After being so badly insulted by Haaniyah who made it absolutely clear that there is no space for him in her life, he still sent her flowers! Haaniyah was so happy to see the flowers thinking that they were from Ahmed, but as soon as she read Ahad’s name in the card, she practically threw the flowers out of her balcony! Bravo! I simply loved Haaniyah in this scene.
I loved the way Haaniyah is opening up to Ahmed now. The way she casually asked about his past girlfriends shows how comfortable she is with Ahmed, and even Ahmed is enjoying this new side of her. The rain scene was one of the scenes I have been looking forward to since I saw it in the OST, and I really wish it was longer, and there was less of Ahad in the scene. Seeing Ahmed and Haaniyah together in the rain, he started remembering his time with Haaniyah, which frankly I had no interest in watching.
One of the best scenes of the episode was when Haaniyah asked Ahmed not to go for his business trip. She got so upset when he told her about his upcoming trip. The way she innocently said ‘mujhe sirf ap chahiye’ touched Ahmed and he promised to be back as soon as possible. A lovely scene in my opinion! Ahmed and Haaniyah’s chemistry keeps on getting better with each passing episode.
After Ahmed left, Ahad got more courage to do whatever he likes, and his constant attempts to get close to Haaniyah made her worried and upset. I do not understand why she is tolerating such behavior in the first place! She should have complained to Ahmed about Ahad’s behavior the first time he misbehaved with her. Now, she is going to be in deep trouble for keeping quiet about the whole matter. She wanted to tell Ahmed everything when he came back from his business trip, but chose to keep silent when she heard how happy he was to see the ‘changed’ Ahad. Her constant silence is a source of motivation for Ahad, and his behavior is going to get worse now!
I am really glad Samina’s mother gave her a good lecture for her senseless doubts. She shared her doubts about Afshah and Ahsan with her mother, and her mother brought her back to her senses. Ahsan has gotten even more disturbed after hearing such disgusting accusations from Samina, and instead of saying sorry, she accused him of discussing their personal lives with his mother. I am glad they showed less of her in this episode, her scenes are intolerable, and definitely worth skipping.
There was a lot of focus on Zehra’s track in this episode too. She is involved with her class fellow and not interested in marrying the guy her parents had chosen for her. Her parents; however, do not find her classmate suitable for her. There will be more focus on her track from now onwards and personally, I like her track more than Saminas’. Any track is better than Saminas’!
From the preview, it is pretty evident that Ahad’s attitude is not going to change anytime soon!

With the Pakistani cinema slowly gaining momentum, film makers are being encouraged to produce good quality, high budgeted movies. The latest news is that names like Fahad Mustafa, Iman Ali, and Sanam Saeed have been casted together for an upcoming movie.
The good news is that the famous television director, Anjum Shehzad has also stepped into the field of Lollywood to play his role in the revival of Pakistan Film Industry. Anjum Shahzad has a big budgeted movie in his hands now and leaving behind the tradition of casting traditional Lollywood hero and heroines; he has decided to take Model and Actress Iman Ali, Actor, Producer and Anchor Fahad Mustafa, and the rising star of Pakistani Television post Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Sanam Saeed as the three main leads in his upcoming movie.
Iman Ali made her debut inLollywood through the movie, ‘Khuda Ke Liyeah’ which was a huge success. Fahad Mustafa has done everything; from acting, to anchoring, to production. The only arena left to explore is Lollywood, and he has been looking forward to do a quality movie for quite some time now. He had signed a movie before and had also shot for it, but the shooting was stopped midway and the movie was scrapped which left him pretty disappointed at that time. But now he is getting another chance to venture into Lollywood. He has reached the heights of popularity as a Television actor; it will be interesting to see if he would be able to prove his mettle as a film actor too.
It will also be the first big scale movie for Sanam Saeed; previously she had appeared in a Tarang Telefilm called ‘Dil Mera Dhadkan Teri’ alongside Sarwat Gillani and Ahsan Khan. Though the telefilm was not very impressive, but Sanam’s performance was appreciated by all. She has a huge fan following and her fans will be the happiest seeing her on the big screen.
Besides the cast, all other information about the movie is kept hidden, including its title. It seems to be a growing trend in Lollywood for filmmakers to try their level best to keep ‘maximum details’ a secret such as the title of the movie and songs to create curiosity amongst the audiences. They usually wait for the right moment to disclose the details.
The story of the movie is written by Sarmad Sehbai who has given some successful projects in the past. He is a popular poet, playwright and theater play’s director and has proved himself from time to time.
According to sources, the shooting of the movie already commenced in Karachi a few days ago, and the actors have shot for their respective scenes.
Hope we get to hear a confirmation from the actors soon!
I think this drama was better off when they were in the past because at least they had some material to be covered, be it in a hideous way but still they managed to show us something, but ever since we’ve come to know about Arham’s so-called gunnah, we’re left with nothing & have come to a point where they are using Narmeen’s breakfast as a weapon against her to prove how EVIL she is.
Accha, Shahiq has this ‘umang’ in his heart that Narmeen must pay some attention to him like Areeba pays to Arham. Sad that Arham still has those fits of distress even after he has found a good wife. Nothing in this drama is making sense at this point. It’s ohkay to be stagnant but when there’s nothing, literally nothing to be shown, then they come up with such meaningless episodes. Last episode ended at a note where Narmeen misbehaves about her FIL (father-in-law) in front of Shahiq & Samina & it was made to shown that Shahiq won’t take that & will slap Narmeen about what she said but how this episode started was enough to show the unsystematic approach of the director.
It was good that at least Sarah could speak in front of Narmeen but what was the NASHTA fiasco all about? Matlab Narmeen’s breakfast was just so important that it had to be mentioned or covered again & again in almost 3 scenes. At least before they kept on hovering around the Gunnah but right now they’re taking it to the household chores. Nashta, late uthna, namaz, bahu se kaam na karwana? Seriously!?!?!?! & yes whenever they sight the mood, they take us to already-seen-present-flashbacks, applaud for such an amazing insight of the director & the editor.
Accha, I just don’t understand the pattern of Arham’s pagal-pan. At one moment he is walking hands in hands with Areeba who is counseling him regularly, on the other he is having a breakfast with everyone peacefully, he is also seen asking Shahiq about his problems & went for Namaz with him to usay daura kahan se parh jata hai? No one loves me, no one understands me, no one has forgiven me? I think everyone has walked out of that phase in life but it is Arham who needs to snap out of it.
They never once showed how Arham connected the puzzle of Narmeen’s game? Narmeen never ever told anyone except her mother that she liked Shahiq for which she has left Arham? But from the last 2 – 3 episodes Arham on his own is speaking about Narmeen’s marriage to Shahiq because she found him more attractive than Arham? If it was someone wise, he must’ve established some grounds for Arham to be finding out the ultimate secret but right now he is just so sure without any knowledge of Narmeen’s game-plan. Plus all he knew was that Shahiq was forced into marrying Narmeen because of her izzat to be protected but this particular detail should’ve been used as a shocker & something to be exposed in front of everyone or else if Arham has connected the dots, why ain’t he speaking of it in front of his family?
Lost interest in the drama & praying that it ends ASAP!
While the writers and actors in particular get more than enough attention and appreciation from the viewers, the directors most often do not get the credit they truly deserve. No matter how good the script of a play is if the director does not put his best into showing it on screen in a good way then the script may not have any impact on the viewers. On the other hand, a good director can even change an average script into something outstanding by extracting the best performances from the actors and by making the screenplay more enticing. It is totally up to the director how he visually puts the material in the script on screen.
Pakistani dramas could never have gotten as far as they have if it wasn’t for some very dedicated directors who are always giving us their best. here is a list of directors who have recently made a very good name for themselves in the drama industry.
Haissam Hussain
Anyone who watches Pakistani dramas would be well acquainted with this gifted director. He works very hard on all his projects and is one of those directors who can do miracles. Haissam Hussain was the director of Dastan, Akbari Asghari, Durr-e-Shehwar, Aik Nayee Cinderella and many others. He is also the one who will be directing the upcoming serial Bin Royee Ansoo.
Haissam Hussain has rose to fame in a very sort span of time because of the quality of his work.
Mehreen Jabbar
Mehreen Jabbar is very talented, she has been in the directing business for quite some time now. Everything that she has done till now goes to prove that she is nothing short of an asset for our industry. Mehreen Jabbar directed the old long play starring Khalida Riyasat Ab Tum Ja Sakte Ho. She has also directed notable plays like Malal, Vasl, Daam, Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu, Coke Kahani, Rehaii and the film Ramchand Pakistani. Mehreen Jabbar adds the right kind of emotions to all of her plays. She pays attention to detail and aims for perfection.
People like Mehreen Jabbar are a source of pride for our industry.
Nadeem Siddiqui
Nadeem Siddiqui has directed the following plays, Mere Khawab Reza Reza, Mein Gunehgar Nahi, Mann Ke Moti, Mere Harjayee, Maya, My Dear Sautan, Aks and many others. Nadeem Siddiqui has done a lot of quality work in a very short period of time which goes to show how dedicated he is to his work. His latest play Ranjish Hi Sahi is being highly appreciated because of the acting and direction.
Do you remember the adorable child star who played Affan in drama serial Dil-e-Muzter? He is Nadeem Siddiqui’s son, talent most surely runs in the family.
Sarmad Khoosat
This list would be incomplete without adding the name of Sarmad Khoosat, the reason being that I have always felt that Sarmad is a true artist who believes in giving out quality work without worrying about commercialism. Although Sarmad had been directing for years before the he directed the play Pani Jaisa Pyar but that is the play that made people stand up and take notice. Sarmad introduced the concept of sitcoms with performances on songs through his sitcom Shahshlik. He gave his fans hits like Hamsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat and directed some other notable plays like Mera Yakeen and Daagh.
Sarmad Khoosat’s journey has just started, his talent and hard work is bound to take him a long way.

No, there is no lack of talent in Pakistan, and the proof is that our drama industry always welcome new facades warmly, and due to popularity of this medium, the decisive destination for every singer,Video Jockey(VJ),Radio Jockey (RJ),model, anchor and film artists seems to be acting.Year 2012-13 not only gave us the ‘Celebrity sisters’ reigning over this industry but also handful of VJs veering into the realm of acting , and ending up being most treasured lot so far. So here goes my list of the TOP VJs who turned into successful actresses :
7. Naveen Waqar
Naveen,28, aka VJ Fuse began her career with live request show “Pick and Choose with Fuse”. She also hosted the Radio One FM 91 show “Morning Music Chaska” as a RJ. Not many of us know that she started her career from a telefilm “Ab set hai” , but she came on spotlight after the hit “Humsafar” in which she played the negative character of Sara which was much admired by the audience. She later did “Annie ki Aaye Gi Baraat” but unfortunately it was not quite a success as compared to its other sequels. She made her film debut in the film “Josh” but majority still recognize her as “Humsafar’s Sara “.
6.Alishba Yusaf
Alishba,28, started her career as a VJ on Aag TV. She made her tv debut from the show “Chaand Pe Dastak”,but she was noticed for the first time in “Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon”. And surprised everyone with her spectacular performance in “Ek nazar merin taraf”,playing the role of a widow . Viewers were amazed by her improvement and started to look forward to more of her work. Her phenomenal performance in the recent show “Tanhaiyan- Naye Silsilay” and “Mere Dard ko Jo Zuban m=Mile” managed to wow the audience.Alishba seems careful and conscious in signing her projects thats why she is is not seen onscreen quite often.
5.Mawra Hussain
Mawra,21,started her career as VJ on Atv then started appearing in advertisements and then we saw her doing various television shows. She finally got her big break by playing a parallel lead, a negative character in the show “Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai” which was an instant success. and then she appeared in one popular show after the other.Probabaly, the best thing about her is that she can play both negative and positive characters with ease to perfection. She can easily mold herself into the innocent characters she played in “Ik tamanna lahasil si”, “Nikhar gaye gulab sare” and ” Main gunegar nahi”. Or the extremely negative ones like “Merai harjai” “Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai” and ” Halki si khalish”. She has certainly proved her mettle in a really short time.
4. Urwa Hussain
Urwa,22, started her career as a VJ on ARY Musik. She debuted on the show “Meri ladli” which became a huge hit. After that there was no one to stop her.She proved herself as a potential acterss in serials like “Madiha Maliha” and “Kahi Un Kahi”. She has mostly negative roles but she is now gradually becoming more versitile. In her very recent comedy show “Namak Paray” and “Aik Pagal Si Larki”; it is very refreshing to see her doing comic roles.Currently, Urwa is working on her upcoming movie “Strawberry” opposite Sohail Haider.
3. Syra Yusaf
Syra,25, is a popular face of TV commercials ,appearing in almost 50 commercials up to date. She was initially seen as VJ on MTV Pakistan, she got success with her debut “Bheja Fry” and “Most Wanted”;after that she stepped into acting and left everyone awed by her acting in “Mera Naseeb”.Her performances in “Bilquees Kaur” and ” Tanhaiyan- naye silsilay” were loved by all.It was very surprising to see her playing such deep and intense roles. Syra also has the biggest fan following on social media.
2.Sanam Jung
A very talented and elegant edition to the Pakistani Drama Industry is Sanam,26, who started her career as a VJ on Aag TV and decided to try her luck in TV dramas. Her first acting venture “Dil-e-Muztar” was an instant hit. She has made the best debut. Audience adored her with her very first character as Silla and now has sky high hopes from her. Lets wait and see her versatility and flexibility as an actress.
1.Mahira Khan
Winner of three Hum TV Awards,Mahira,30,began her career as a VJ back in 2008 when she was only 16,hosting the live show ‘Most Wanted’ three days a week on MTV Pakistan and later ‘Weekand with Mahira’ on Aag TV. Due to her funky and friendly nature, both of her shows were instant hits. Before stepping into television industry, she tried her luck as film artist. Although, her debut movie”BOL” was praised both by critics and audience but I remember watching that movie and saying, ‘ She needs to learn, how to act”.Then her debut drama Neyyat went on-air and my only thought was “She really needs to go back and continue with that VJ stuff, acting is just not her thing”. Neyyat wasnt successful in capturing the attention of audience. However, her next show bowled everyone over; her drastic improvement was beyond expectations and we all know which show was that. She was even better in Shehr-e-Zaat portraying a total different character. In a very short span of time, she managed to establish her identity as a potential actor. So yes, she is at the top of my list.
I have shared my list of Top 7 Vjs which turned out to be successful Actresses.
What ranks do you give to all of them? Do share your views.
Pakistani drama industry has been blessed with some very good writers. Newcomers join the veteran writers every year which gives the viewers something new to watch. Here is a list of some of the writers whose dramas I look forward to and few things about their plays that make them stand out. I started watching Pakistani dramas only a few years back so this list will contain the names of new writers. No writer is perfect, there have been times when all of these writers gave us scripts that were not as impressive as most of the work they have done. So, my opinion is based on majority of their work. Please feel free to add to the list.
Umera Ahmed
Umera Ahmed needs absolutely no introduction, she is the writer behind memorable plays like Doraha, Daam, Mere Zaat Zar-e-Benishaan, Qaid-e-Tanhai, Maat, Shehr e Zaat, Durr-e-Shehwar and the list is never-ending. I am certain that there are many viewers who have watched and liked Umera Ahmed’s plays without even giving much thinking to who the writer of the play was. The plays that I mentioned in the list are those which can easily be termed as classics. Only an incredibly talented writer can give so many hits.
What makes Umera Ahmed an exceptional writer is the fact that her dramas are very meaningful with a lot of depth. Her dialogues are quoted over and over again because they are so good. Her stories are original, something that is very rare nowadays when many of our writers are inspired by foreign dramas. And most importantly Umera Ahmed is one of the very few writers whose dramas are family dramas.
Umera Ahmed may not be the queen of characterization but there is hardly ever a time when she loses her focus. The most important aspect of Umera Ahmed’s writings is that she takes up issues that are sensitive, those issues that have something to do with our social set up. This makes it easier for people to relate to her plays. Another aspect of Umera Ahmed’s plays that cannot be ignored is that almost all her plays had a very good ending. There are many plays by other writers which were hits but they did not have a good ending so people were very disappointed, a recent example would be Bilquees Kaur.
Samira Fazal
Samira Fazal is the woman behind the most memorable drama of recent times, Dastan, she is the writer who wrote the script of one of the most engaging dramas of all times Mera Naseeb. There are many other unforgettable scripts that were penned down by Samira Fazal like that of Khamoshiyan, Mere Pass Pass,Mastana Mahi, Mera Saeein and recently her play Bari Apa kept people glued to their seats. Her play Shak nowadays is also doing very well too.
What I like about this writer the best is that her characters are very well established most of the times. Even if a person does not enjoy the story of the play he is bound to retain his interest in the characters, Her characters are never black and white. some of them are just as complicated as real people, they have their good and bad sides. Other than that Samira Fazal’s scripts very often are more engaging and happening than the scripts of other writers. Her plays are also unpredictable with many unexpected twists and turns, secrets one could never have imagined which make the viewers at the edge of their seat.
Samira Fazal has the honor of showing some of the most sweet mother in law’s in the history of our dramas in her play. She obviously finds no pleasure in showing the evil saas or the saas bahu fights. Recently the play Kabhi Kabhi does show such a scenario but if you look at most of her work than you will see that the sass’s in her dramas are very reasonable characters. She focuses more on the ups and downs that couples face due to other personal reasons and not because of the interruption of outside forces.
Faiza Iftikhar
Faiza Iftikhar is another drama writer who is basically a novelist but has made a very good name for herself in the drama industry. She has written many famous dramas like Aik Nayee Cinderella, Thakan, Bilquees Kaur, Mohabat Rooth Jaye Tu, Tishnagi and more recently Aunn Zara and Khoya Khoya Chand. The best thing about Faiza Iftikhar is that her scripts are always different from each other. The viewers do not know what she will be coming up with next. Just like Samira Fazal, her characters are very lovable.
Her scripts always carry great weight with an important message but she does so in a very entertaining way. Her heroines stand out because of their unique characteristics, take Bilquess Kaur for instance, she was one of a kind! The only problem with her dramas is that usually the endings are not satisfying enough. Other than that this talented writer is quite capable of writing scripts that leave an impact on the viewers.
Farhat Ishtiaq
Farhat Ishtiaq is the queen of romance. She wrote masterpieces like Hamsafar, Mata-e-Jaan and Rehaii. Pakistani drama fans are impatiently looking forward to her upcoming play Bin Royee Ansoo, which is based on a very famous novel written by Farhat Ishtiaq. When I watched Hamsafar and Mata-e-Jaan I thought that Farhat ishtiaq could only write romantic scripts but when I watched Rehaii my view about her changed. Rehaii had been written superbly. It dealt with a very sensitive issue but it was done very nicely. Some of the dialogues were so moving that they stayed with you for a while. The whole drama was very entertaining apart from being educational.
One common aspect of Farhat Ishtiaq’s writings is that her characters relationship with each other is based on very intense emotions. Her main characters are most often sweet and sensitive hence very endearing. Just like Umera Ahmed, Farhat Ishtiaq keeps her focus on the main story which is one of the reasons why her dramas are very engaging.
Share how you feel about these writers and feel free to add new names to the list. There are some other writers who have written a lot of plays lately like Amna Mufti and Maha Malik. Do you think they fall in the same league?
Drone attacks have been quite an issue in Pakistan for some time now. Recently, Jemina Khan (Imran Khan’s ex-wife) addressed this issue and released a documentary titled, “Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars”which premiered on 26th October in Islamabad ahead of its worldwide premiere on October 30. It later made its world premiere on October 30 at the Sunshine Landmark Theater in Manhattan, New York.
It is a highly moving documentary directed by US filmmaker Robert Greenwald and released in collaboration with Brave New Foundation. It highlights the plight of innocent drone victims and exposes the blatant lies of the US administration about the precision and efficacy of drone attacks.
This documentary highlights the brutal impact the drone attacks have on the lives of millions of people in the tribal areas of Pakistan. More than 70 people were interviewed for this documentary, the drone attack affected families, investigative journalists, top military officials and in the end, Imran Khan himself.
The director has taken detailed interviews in addition to footage that has never been seen before from the tribal areas in Pakistan to show what the people had gone through by US drone policy. This footage, alongside interviews with Pakistani drone survivors, describes the brutal reality of drone attacks ordered by the USA. Some of the stories include that of 16 year old Tariq Aziz, killed by a drone a mere week after he participated in a public conference in Islamabad in 2011; a school teacher, Rafiqur Rehman, who had to deal with the loss of his mother, along with the hospitalization of his children due to a drone strike last year. Unmanned shows how lives of people are no longer of significant importance since no one is ready to accept the responsibility for these attacks. Unmanned also uncovered how the military actions are often imprecise and US have little knowledge of how drone targets are set and the killings carried out.
Greenwald [the director] has stated, “This film was to show the world the human face on a policy that correlates groups of young men as terrorists and children and elderly as collateral damage. I wanted the world to see that this policy is misguided and should be reevaluated. The deaths of these civilians must not be in vain.”
The Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and other top leaders of his party attended the first screening of the film along with journalists, diplomats, activists and members of civil society. Imran’s whose former wife Jemima Khan is a co-producer of the film, hoped that film will change public opinion in the West about the lethal drone strikes and their impact.
Jemima Khan also released a statement from London. She stated:
“Unmanned is a detailed look at the US and UK-backed drone attacks in Pakistan, with remarkable footage of the effects of these attacks on the ground. I believe these attacks are unethical in themselves, and — even more crucially — make every one of us less safe, because of the recruitment opportunities they afford the extremists each time an innocent civilian is killed.”
Imran Khan has showed immense support for Jemina’s work and even tweeted his admiration for the documentary.
This documentary is a must watch for every citizen to enlighten themselves about the drone attacks. The drone attacks and its casualties have been suppressed for quite some time now, and this documentary gives a clear-cut picture of the drone affected areas.
Shaan Shahid, after giving a combination of three big movies back2back, has now turned into the most expensive and yet the busiest celebrity of Pakistan. While the Pakistani audience is finding itself been amused with the movie ‘Waar’, Shaan Shahid is now backing with his next great venture. We are not talking about Operation 021 here, infact, his next movie is Nasir Teherani’s Naach.
This upcoming movie Naach is a movie which is somehow related to the same theme we saw in Bollywood’s ‘Fashion’ where the real life behind the screen was the major point which got highlighted in the movie. As the title reveals, the movie is about the Dance and Music race which will be shown as a part of a competition in the film. Apart from Shaan, the movie includes some veteran actors like Javed Sheikh, Momal Sheikh and Sohai Ali Abro. Since we have been watching these artists on silver screens for quite a long and love them for their acting skills, it is really amusing to see them on big screen.
The theatrical trailer of the movie has been released, Have a look!
It would not be wrong to keep your hopes attached with this movie in 2014.
Bollywood Industry is currently providing the second largest entertainment media, first being the Hollywood, and artists who are in hope of making some real money and earn a better limelight find themselves been attracted towards Bollywood. Now that we see the Pakistani artists moving to India to work in Bollywood movies, it is important to remember that this is not a new trait the Pakistani audience is witnessing. In fact, from Zeba Bakhtiyar to Adnan Sami, we have seen all senior artists trying really hard to make their debut in the neighboring country.
It was interesting to find that famous composer/ songwriter and singer, Adnan Sami, despite of being treated as a third degree citizen in India, stated in one of this recent interview that Pakistan is not a country to live in. While been asked about his home country in the said interview, he was blunt in blaming the Pakistani government for the demise of two legendary singers. Mehdi Hassan and Reshma. These two legendary icons left the world while suffering from diseases. Adnan Sami, previously said that he would prefer to live on streets in India rather than going back to Pakistan.
However, in return of his endless contributions to the music industry of India, he was released an order of leaving the country when his VISA got expired few months back, which then got an extension of 3 months.
Working abroad and making money for yourself is something which seems more like a personal affair but passing statement against the country which has actually given you a platform is an act of indecency.
Surprisingly, I never get a chance to get bored while watching this show. Each scene contains a new twist that keeps me hooked. The prediction of Maira breaking the old tradition that has been running in the family for generations came true in this episode.
The episode progressed at a steady pace; we saw Maira and Shahab enjoying their last few hours together. After his outburst, Shahab tried to make it up to Maira by taking her to the café, and we saw a very playful interaction between them. All was good, till Bilal suddenly appeared out of nowhere and shocked Maira. She has still not forgotten what a huge mess his simple phone call had created, and now he was standing right in front of her and she did not know how to deal with this situation.
She was extremely uncomfortable and tried to keep the conversation to a minimum. She got even more scared when Shahab came and teased Bilal ‘Tum Meri Biwi Ka Peecha Ker Rahe Ho’. For a minute there, I thought Shahab will get furious, but fortunately, Shahab is a person who learns from his mistake and does not believe in repeating them. He casually teased him and dismissed the issue. Thank God!
Shahab’s good mood only lasted for a while, and then he was back to his brooding. He was dreading his impending marriage to Fatima, and my heart went out for Maira when he cruelly made her aware of what is going to happen next. He even smashed the tiny hope inside her that they might still be able to meet secretly.
Peer Jalal’s character may have a lot of flaws, but I simply love his personality. He has this certain aura, charisma that I am in complete awe of. The way he calmly responded to the demand made by Sikander through Badi Sarkar was pretty impressive. If this man has learned something in his life, then it is self-control. He dealt with Sikander in a very clear-cut manner. His warning was given in a very normal tone, but everybody could feel the underlying threat in the warning. Peer Jalal has been ignoring Sikander and his demands for quite some time now, but finally decided to speak up to bring him to his senses. This scene made me want to clap for both the actors for their outstanding performances.
Sikander’s attitude with Badi Sarkar might be stern and authoritative, but when it comes to Peer Jalal his whole attitude changes. The lion suddenly becomes a mere cat in the presence of Peer Jalal. The scene where he is taunting Badi Sarkar for Shahab’s absence and the sudden change in him when Peer Jalal comes made me laugh out loud! Sikander is a two faced man who is using his own sister for his personal gain. Badi Sarkar might not be able to understand that she is being used, but Peer Jalal is wise enough to understand Sikander’s every motive.
The main twist was in the latter part of the episode. Just when it felt like the fate has been sealed, a ray of hope emerged. When Shahab rushed Maira to the hospital, he was not expecting his whole life to take a 360 turn. He was on top of the world when the doctor announced that Maira was expecting; it was like the rest of the world did not exist for him. But he was brought back to reality by Badi Sarkar’s phone call.
I was expecting a better reaction from Maira when Shahab announced the news to her. Ainie Jafferi was completely expressionless in this scene. I was expecting her to be either shocked, surprised or show disbelief, but all we got was an expressionless face. Her expression or the lack of it ruined the scene for me!
I would like to make a special mention of Amna Bibi for this episode. She was bang on in all her scenes! Her senseless rants are truly very entertaining. The way she answered back to Fatima and Badi Sarkar was definitely worth an applause!
So, now the question is what will happen next? Will Shahab marry Fatima now? And why is he so adamant on hiding this news? I am really curious to know what will happen next!
Waar, the movie which brought revolution in Pakistani cinema, as it has been produced in line with the International Standards has grossed around 190 million in Pakistan since its release in October. Now the latest news is that it has been approved by British Board of Film Censors’ and has been given an approval for its release in the UK.
The director of the movie, Bilal Lashari has stated, “Waar has been approved for release with no cuts. However, it will take 10 to 15 days to release because we are negotiating with distributors.” It might take around two more weeks for the movie to officially release in the UK as the producers are still finalizing the deal with the distributors in the UK. The number of cities, screens and locations are yet to be finalized.
There has also been a lot of speculation about its release in India. Regarding this, Bilal Lashari has stated, “I have not approached anyone specifically for distribution in India”. The movie has been criticized for creating a lot of propaganda and according to most people ‘it has portrayed India as the root cause for all its problems.’ Bilal Lashari has clarified from time to time that there was no such intention while making this movie.
Well, for those who say this, have they not seen India doing the same from time to time? Showing Pakistanis/Muslims as terrorists has been a trend in Indian movies for a long time now. In the case of Waar, it is just a matter of how you perceive the movie. Even if the villains in the movie are Hindus, Indians are not directly mentioned nor are they the direct target in this movie. At the end of the day, it is a ‘movie’ solely for the purpose of entertainment.
Lashari, in reference to Waar’s release in India states, “I have no idea how the people will react, but it would be great if it ends up being screened [in India]. A lot of people are saying it is never going to happen”
Waar’s release in India is the least of the concerns right now. There are far better arenas to conquer at the moment. The producers are in talks with distributors in other countries too. UK is just the beginning; it will be released in more countries now!
Waar was released in 42 screens in Pakistan and made a staggering RS. 11.4 million on its opening day at the box office. We pray and hope that it gains more numbers internationally than it has earned locally!
We wish all the best to its producer, director and actors. They have gained immense popularity locally; if this movie is a success internationally then they will be gain popularity on an international level. Hope the three years put into this movie and all the hard work pays off!
Whoever resides in the UK, do go and watch this movie and support Pakistani cinema!

This latest installment of Ranjish Hi Sahi fit the bill in every possible way; it was engaging, fast paced, excellently directed and acted out and the dialogues have been written beautifully. Generally people complaint that most dramas with depth lack the entertainment factor needed to make a play more engrossing. For people who think so, Ranjish Hi Sahi is a must watch. It is not depressing or dark either, so that is another plus.
Kamal Hassan like a desperate man would not let Yumna slip away from his life once again. He is like a man who has found something very precious which he had lost years back , his desperation was completely relatable. Yumna’s situation is such that she cannot even think about doing anything that will change the way things are with her and her daughters. She has given her daughters enough love to fill all voids in their lives and has been a strong pillar of support for them. That is the reason why Tooba and Hiba do not feel the need for a father figure in their lives. Kamal confided in Tooba and as a result Tooba even with all her insecurities was willing to support her mother’s decision. It is plain to see that Hiba will not be understanding at all because she cannot share her mother’s love and affection with anyone else except her sister. Maya Ali maybe playing a role similar to the one she has played in many other dramas but I like her in it nevertheless, perhaps because I haven’t followed any of her dramas very religiously. Hiba has met her match and for once the side track romance actually seems appealing. Mohammad Ali (Arsal) has been doing well till now, there are times when his body language is too stiff and his dialogue delivery too flat but he is definitely much better than many other newcomers.
I found the grey shade in Yumna’s hair much more real than what we usually get to see on screen; a thick layer of grey on a few strands as opposed to a the grey shade spread over the entire hair. The scene in the garden was beautifully shot; the vibrant colors along with the combination of green and white were very striking. The only thing that did not quite fit in were Faisal Rehman’s mismatched clothes.
The relationship between Yumna and her daughters has been portrayed very well; the credit for that goes to the writer, director and the actors. I really like the quality of Urdu that we are getting to hear in the play. Faisal Rehman and Samiya Mumtaz’s excellent dialogue delivery just adds to the beauty of the well written dialogues. Sana Javed was a very good choice for playing the role of Tooba, she is very delicate and pleasant looking even though her acting can be a little unconvincing at time but that can be easily overlooked.
Till now this drama does not appear to be anything like the usual A & B productions play. There is no excessive rona dhona or over exaggeration of the becharapan of the main protagonist. No doubt, I feel for Yumna because she must be very tired and in need of a break and some kind of an emotional support, love. But she is not your usual heroine who is lost without her man and cannot look out for herself. The way Hiba holds Yumna accountable went to show that even after raising two children all on her own Yumna does not have the right to take her own decisions. Something which is very true, every mother puts her children’s happiness before her own needs. Even though Yumna keeps on telling Hiba that she expects too much from her but Hiba still feels (like any pampered child) that the only way of showing her affection to her mother is to keep things the way they always have been. The show very aptly shows how difficult it is for a woman to find some happiness for her own self when she has grown up children.
The picture quality of the play has been superb throughout. Overall, the play is a good mix of emotions which are not overly intense but touching nevertheless. I am definitely looking forward to more.
Our very own controversy Queen,Veena Malik, while giving interview to showbiz desk, London, said that people of different mindsets live in Pakistan and everyone has right to live life in one’s own way. She said that she is a daughter of an army officer and she is proud to be a Pakistani. She further said that she is a religious woman; her religion is none of others concern, it’s between her and Allah and she will go for Umrah soon.
According to Veena Malik, Pakistan is deprived of National heroes and we should worth having them in our country. She pledged that she also want her to be treated as National Hero rather than attacking her through taunts and insulting comments again and again. Veena Malik warned Sheikh Rashid to stop himself in giving those insulting comments on her.If he wont, then she knows how to tackle with such situations.
We pray that Veena’s inner woman will soon give her a wake-up call and she will start taking her life seriously.
Seems like its been ages that we are watching Momo,Nabeel,Mehmood Saheb and Khoobsurat in our very own comedy show, Bulbulay. But we haven’t came across any of its behind the scenes video or pictures.
It is a show that made Ayesha Omer even more successful then she was before. After Bulbulay, she was got a role in Zindagi Gulzar hai,Tanhaye ahd so on.Hina Dilpazer proved herself as versatile actress after Bulbulay.Nabeel and Mehmood Saheb are doing equally well.

Now this is more than enough. Everything in this show is going perfect except that Nikah issue. I think this is the time that it should get disclosed. It has been a long time we are waiting for that moment when Arsal will come to know about the reality but Alas! I am not finding this issue to be disclosed in next couple of episodes either.
After 4-5 episodes, I started thinking that how this show will move on with its story? And now, I have found the clear answer and that is director’s silly strategy to “Just-drag-the-show”. I have always found dramas made under Momina Duraid production house quite appealing and keeping up their pace but I am extremely disappointed this time. Finally, I convinced myself after all, she is a human being too. This show is getting viewership only because viewers are forced to watch it as other channels have even worse shows to offer.
Gaiti is still in confusion whether she should tell Arsal about everything or not. . It is her affection for Arsal which is not allowing her to utter a single word.Every time she recollects herself and then few succession of events takes her one step back again.I mean, come on girl, how are you living with a man to whom you are not wed-locked and you know it too. Pretty illogical and head spinning.Lakin jo bhi hai,Arsal and Gaiti share perfect onscreen chemistry and I really enjoy everytime Arsal tried to make Gaiti comfortable with him. I have started feeling pity for Arsal.
Kiran, from day one, liked Arsal and now that she knows that Arsal is her husband, madam hawaao mai urr rahi hain. For her, it is like a fantasy world in which Gaiti is living and she has the earnest yearning to be a part of that fantasy world too.Or sonai par sohaaga, she was asked to live at Gaiti’s place for few days.
Salaar has already confessed in front of Gaiti that he feels for Kiran and he is finding that moment-of-glory when he will propose Kiran. Kiran is completely unaware of Salaar’s one-sided affection and I am waiting for the day when she will come to know about that ; what will be her reaction then?
Kiran’s presence is making Gaiti uncomfortable and she is feeling so insecure as Arsal keeps on admiring Kiran’s bold and confident nature.Daadi and Gaiti conversation was worth watching, Indeed, Nikah is the one of the strongest bonds that ties a knot between two people of completely different nature, attitude and sometimes different culture too for life time. And except for few cases,it is impossible to break the bond on silly typical noke-jhonk.
Like always, I waited for what this show has to offer next. And after watching its preview, once again my disappointment was at its peak that next episode has nothing new to offer too. Kiran will now attempt to instigate Gaiti so that she will tell the truth to Arsal at her own and she will now let Arsal realize that she is his lovely wedded wife.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is responsible to monitor channels and content that is being aired. PEMRA also has a complaint cell where complaints against a TV channel or content of a channel can be lodged online. Month wise logs of complaints against all channels is also accessible from PEMRA website.
A glance at summary of all the requests logged in recent concluded month of October 2013 reveals some interesting figures that Geo group of channels tops the list by an overwhelming majority. Out of total 5,533 complaints logged in October 2013, almost 95.5%, 5285 complaints are against channels of Geo, while ARY Group is second in the list with 58 (.01%) and HUM TV Group is third with 16 (.002%) complaints.
Complains against TV Channels for the month of October 2013
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has imposed a fine of Rs10 million on 10 entertainment channels of the country for airing Indian and obscene content for more than 10 percent of the airtime.
Show cause notices have also been issued to these Pakistani entertainment TV channels. According to sources, Pemra, founded to monitor the material aired on electronic media, in addition to watching the affairs of the same, has fined 10 well-known national entertainment channels for excessively airing Indian, English and obscene material.
Pemra sources said the channels that have been fined by Rs1 million each include Hum TV, Oxygen TV and Play TV while Kohinoor Entertainment, TV One Entertainment, NTV Entertainment, GXM Entertainment, Jalwa Entertainment and other entertainment channels have been fined by Rs7 million.
On the other hand, show cause notices have also been issued to the these channels. It merits mentioning here that according to the code of conduct adopted in 2006 by Pemra, the Pakistani TV channels are allowed to allocate 6 percent of the total airtime to the Indian content, while they can dedicate 4 percent of the same to content from other countries. The Pakistani channels are allowed to air foreign content in order to attract more viewers and develop the media industry.
The very talented and the very cute Kiran Khan is no more single and tied the knots in a small ceremony where all her close friends and family celebrated the eve. Known for her hosting at MASALA TV, Kiran is one of those actresses who are always appreciated for whatever they do, by the audience. She she has also worked with other TV channels like Indus TV , Hum TV, Geo, ARY and TV One. Declaring herself as a producer, Kiran launched her cooking show in India under the title of ‘Rung De India’.
Her wedding, in October, kept her all busy but soon after some days, the actress returned to work and also appeared with her husband in a morning show.
Here are some interesting pictures of Kiran’s wedding. Have a look!
After huge success of “Waar”, Shaan has become first choice for film makers and producers. Even Bollywood Filmmakers are also contacting Shaan to sign him for their upcoming projects.
Many local producers have started visiting Shaan place because they have strong urge to cast Shaan in their movies. Being the gentleman of our industry, Shaan decided to give a read to the scripts first and after reading more than 24 scripts during last 18 days and considering the role with which he will be assigned with, he agreed to perform in 4 movies. It’s because of the success of Waar that he decided to give prime importance to some reputed production houses and along with that some different and strong role.
According to Dunya News report, after signing these four movies, Shaan also announced increase in his wage.He will now take 7.5 million rupees instead of 5 million from International film-makers and for regional movies (Punjabi),his wage will be 1 million rupees.
Shaan also got offer to work under Yash Raj Banner after his superb acting in Waar and for that they have sent one of their agent to convince Shaan for their film. But according to Shaan, its high time when he has to work for his own country and make his own country flourish instead of giving successful movies to other countries. He said that he respect the offer from Yash Raj Banner but his first priority will always be Pakistan.
He also said that he has also got offers from various television production houses and he will definitely say yes to them, once he will get appropriate role.
All of my best wishes are with Shaan. May he will get success in every step of life.
Saba Qamar is among the leading actresses of Pakistan. Her extra ordinary expressions, stupendous dialogue delivery skills and good looks forms a deadly combination and for that she is considered as first choice of directors and producers. Her career is now at its peak and at this time, she got an offer for Bollywood project opposite to Randeep Hooda.
There comes a time when an artist has to make an intelligent decision whether he has to stay and work in one’s own country and gets relatively less wage relative to what she will do while living in some other country.
Honestly speaking, for an actress, there arises bulk of questions from showbiz industry when she leaves her own industry and gets ready to shake hands with foreign projects. She has to pass through various controversies then those costumes which will always make her center of discussion of all critics. Further, I have always observed that our actresses have never been assigned with some great roles and projects in Indian movies. And the movies they have done in Bollywood so far have poor storyline too. So,one can not extract out the best of her acting skills while working in Bollywood films(for Pakistani actresses only).
With this point, Saba Qamar took intelligent decision and denied to work in Bollywood movies. According to me, it was a wise decision by her and I really appreciate that.
What are your views about our leading actresses working in Bollywood movies? Are they getting enough fame and respect? Share your views.

This week we saw further developments in the story. Sehrish and Sania were finally able to strike a friendship together as they went for a walk. Though for some odd reason they walked just outside Sehrish’s home and sat near that also. It was apparent that Sania was new to the surroundings even though both of them lived in the same neighbourhood. During this time period, Sehrish’s husband kept on sitting in the balcony and looking at her. Sehrish also knew about it without even looking up which was very cute and reflected the understanding and love between the couple. However, what stuck out as a sore thumb was that the road where Sehrish and Sania were sitting was far away from the house and balcony where Ehtesham was sitting. That’s why we never saw Ehtesham looking down and actually seeing Sehrish. Ah these production cheats! This seemingly harmless walk led to another storm in Sania’s household as her mother-in-law found her missing and called up her son telling him ‘Woh ghar se bhag gayee hai’. Even before this scene was played, I knew it by heart. I could even say the dialogues perfectly. Why? Simply because ARY had spent the whole week making us memorize the scene. Once again, due to this harmless walk, the mother-in-law ended up in the hospital. Twice lucky (not in Sania’s case here and sorry for being mean, can’t help it!) Badar Khalil had already given ‘mara mun dekhnay kee kasam’ to her son Ali. I wonder the age of this kasam, apnay bachpan se mein issay dramon mein dekhta aa raha hoon. Any guesses? Jo saheeh guess kar le Electra us ka hua (a la Neelam Ghar style).
In a jiffy, Ali winds up his business in South Africa (read just one room and one sofa) and lands up in Pakistan to honour his mother’s kasam and to ensure that his mother is properly taken care of. Due to this hullabaloo, we also got to know that Sehrish is pregnant. Her mother-in-law and husband welcomed the news, asked her to be extra careful now and started caring more about her. They had a lovely conversation on the breakfast table which was again in total contrast to Ali’s come back scene with his family where both Ali and his mother blamed Sania for not taking care of her mother-in-law. Ali also behaved roughly with his son who knew him just through the pictures. The kid was visibly afraid of his father and ran away which was once again attributed to Sania’s doing. Someone just knock her husband and mother-in-law with a fry pan so that stars race in front of their eyes like cartoons and they can see some sense (sorry for being graphic, I just get so angry at these two characters it’s amazing how I stop myself from murdering them!)
The irritating couple Maham and Atif surface once again. Ehtesham had confided in Atif about Sania being his ex-fiance and like a robot put on auto, he went to his wife Maham and blurted it out. Maham obviously wanted to make the best use of this secret but it was the bald headed Atif who somehow restrained her. She still mentioned it in a non-noticeable manner to Sehrish when they went to congratulate her on her pregnancy. Thankfully, these two had less screen space this time but I still wish I had a magic wand which could have made both of them disappear (the wand would most probably have been stolen by now going by Pakistan’s law and order situation but no harm in wishing!)
This episode further established certain things. Firstly, Sehrish’s mother-in-law is a very sweet person, the way she congratulated Sehrish on finding out the good news, going out and shopping in place of her and laughing at Ehtesham sitting in the balcony and waiting for Sehrish were all very nice and feel good kind of stuff.
The scenes between Ehtesham and Sehrish were also nice, when she goes out for walk and seeks his permission or when both of them lie in bed talking. I just wish that physical closeness shown in those two bedroom scenes was avoided. It somehow spoiled the otherwise good and fast paced episode for me.
The spooky smoke in the background of the road where Sehrish and Sania were walking was something I could not understand. It wasn’t Bhoot Aya or Koi Hai type of series or was it? Also, Sehrish saw from her room’s window that the ambulance was parked in front of Sania’s home. I really don’t think that Sania’s home was that close (or maybe I am missing something here, am I?). Expecting more fireworks in next episode as Sania would now somehow want to congratulate Sehrish and become the target of her mother-in-law again and this time her husband also. Chalain kafee batain ho gayee. Ub ap logon kee baree. Bus jo bhee bolain, khayal karain ke lagay tha kar ke is dramay kee tarha :)

The secret about the relationship between Mahjabeen and Qasim is “officially” out. The fact that Qasim is Mahjabeen’s and Alamgir’s illegitimate child makes me wonder if Bare Sahab knows that Mahjabeen has a son. And if he does then how come he let him live? And most importantly, if Alamgir and Mahjabeen never got married then how did she have his child in the first place? I can’t imagine Bare Sahab being a party to all this since his sons were killed by Mahjabeen’s brother so how could he let this child live? And why did Mahjabeen’s brother let her go scot free? Yes, she is vani but given the circumstances it is rather unbelievable that her brother let her live since he sounds like a very merciless person. The viewer’s till now had seen a very soft side of Bare Sahab but in this episode we got to see the feudal in him who would not think twice before exploiting his position. He believes in giving severe punishments to others for their wrongdoings but has completely different set of rules for his own self and those who are close to him.
Mahjabeen is also quite capable of playing games in order to have things her way. She put up an act so that she could be out of the haveli. I have no idea though how she could spend more time with Qasim while she was in the hospital and how would she land in the hospital if she wasn’t even sick?? Apparently, Neelam was the only one who could actually see through Mahjabeen. Hurray, the haveli has a new maid who seems like a busy body as well.
Neelam’s immature attitude is making it difficult for Wali to cope with the situation. Everything is okay between Neelam and Wali until they are away from Mahjabeen. Neelam can’t stand Mahjabeen right from day one and her intolerance for her is just getting stronger with time. Kanza Wyne was much better in tonight’s episode, in fact she did very well in some of the scenes. This was the second time that I liked her acting. Now that we know more about Mahjabeen’s past, I definitely have more respect for Neelam now. Mahjabeen was sensible enough to make more rational choices, she really should have known better. I feel for Neelam more than Mahjabeen because Mahjabeen is in this situation because of her own wrongdoings but Neelam did not do anything to deserve this life.
The scene in which Neelam is thinking about the conversation she had with Wali in the car was a little too long. There was no point of repeating the entire conversation only a few minutes after it took place. Just in case there are people out there who are wondering what Wali said when he took the jacket from Neelam, I would like to write what he said here “Shirazi sahab ke ghur jana hai dair ho rahi hai”. I don’t want anyone fretting over it since the dialogue was quite unimportant and hardly audible. The “mysterious” conversation between Qasim and Mahjabeen before he comes to the haveli seemed completely out of place.
The story is finally moving forward and we have something to look forward to. Some of the scenes in tonight’s episode were prolonged for no reason but the good thing was that the viewers got to see a completely different side of Mahjabeen’s character tonight. Kanza Wyne and Fawad Khan looked cute in the car scene but the happy moments did not last for long. I still don’t think that Numm is the kind of play that is “soul stirring” or thought provoking but I am glad that it is getting better. The recent two episodes were definitely more engaging than the previous few.
For all those who don’t know about Asiana Magazine; this magazine is ultimate bridal bible indeed with around 500 pages per issue including stunning fashion, beauty and wedding planning ideas.
Asiana winter wedding issue has just been released and this time they came up with 580 pages that are the highest number of pages in the history of Asiana Magazine. Interesting part is that 20 years old young Pakistani Model Ayaan Ali was asked to do a photo shoot for cover page and she accepted it. It will definitely add up to the popularity of Ayaan, who is already famous in Pakistan due to her eastern-western looks. Magazine stated that Ayaan is one of the best and hardworking models in the world.
Coupled with her is Omar Borkan Al Gala, who became the internet sensation for being too hot and got deported from Saudia Arabia and kicked out from cultural festival. And this is not enough, three months after this news, we came to know that it was all Fake and was a publicity stunt. Anyhow, his purpose of publicity stunt worked more than his expectations and he is now more famous then ever.
Ayaan’s hairdo and make up was done by Kaniz Ali Make Up. Outfits of both models were designed by Mongas and the beautiful jewelry they are wearing is by Jewels N Gems.
We wish both Ayaan and Omar best of luck for their future and upcoming projects.
There comes a time when one is unable to judge that what will happen next; After watching this episode, I am feeling the same. Azam was bending towards Rukayya in previous episode and now he seemed to be quite much concerned for Pari while avoiding Rukayya to the fullest. My head is full of confusion now. Hopefully ,by the time I will reach at the end of this review, I will come to a conclusion.
Episode started with Naseeban and postman’s discussion which was clearly depicting that Ashfaaq Mamoo is cheating his sister by living a luxurious life and by letting Aapa Bi and her family live in starvation. Rukayya has already developed feelings for Azam and as soon as she saw that letter along with those pictures, her instinct told her that it will be solely for her. By the way, I didnt find that poem engaging, except from its end.
Pari is continuously observing Rukayya because she is sounding so indifferent to her. Her Rukayya Aapa is slowly transforming her attitude into not-so-caring whenever it comes to opt between Azam and Pari and Pari is not liking it at all.
The Dargah scene was spot on once again. Modern version of Amir Khusroo Qawwali, sang by Sahir Ali Bagga, is as much soulful as the original Qawwali itself. It takes the scene to another level and create an aura that can’t be explained in words. And if we add Sajjal Ali’s absorbing expressions in that teb tou 4 chaand lag jatay hain. While Teepu (the mysterious man) is finding peace, he thinks of Pari as his Mehboob with the help of which he can get inner peace as advised by his Murshid.
Sajjal Ali’s acting in this serial reminds me of her role in Mohabbat Jaye Bhaar Mai. She is as outspoken and blunt in this serial as she was in MJBM except for that scary kind of attitude that she brought in her in this show. It literally made my heart to beat much faster and took my breath away for a second when Sultana was planning to end up Aapa Bi’s family peace by creating fuss among them and Pari stood right at her back as soon as she turned.. Uff.. That was hilarious.. And that verbal spat between them was bang on !
Salma and Aapa Bi were not expecting that Azam will come back because according to them Azam had worst three days of his life while living in their Hawaili. But they were wrong, he came back and this time he had some plan in his mind for Pari. He tried to make her as much easy with him as he can and for the sake of gaining Pari’s attention, he asked Rukayya to stay away from him.
While exchanging their thoughts bluntly about Rukayya, Azam took the discussion to another level where he can make Pari comfortable with him and started teasing her just for getting closer to her. This was the first time when he came across the fact that Pari gets fits whenever she finds situation difficult to handle.
For the sake of recovery, Pari will have to go through torture phase and Azam will try to protect her. Thats what preview of next episode says.I am anxiously waiting for next episode as I want answers to the questions that are spinning my head over and over again.
Shadi krte waqt koi aurat se thori kehta hai ke apni bhi izzat ka khayal rukhna bus yehi kaha jata hai ke shohar ki izzat ka khayal rukhna
These lines struck a chord with me; this really is a bitter truth of our social set up. Women are considered the custodians of the honor of their family but in many households they do not get due respect. The concept of a woman as a giver is reinforced over and over again because this is the kind of thinking that makes it easier for men to have their say. It is an easy way to maintain a “balance” in the society; if every woman starts expecting the degree of respect that Kiran does then things will be very tough for many men as well the women associated with these men (the mothers, sisters etc), that is why they are led to believe that their self-respect is not half as important as the honor of their family. But if every mother starts giving her daughter the advice which Kiran wants to give to her daughter then things will change for the better.
Kiran and Adnan’s conversation on the night of their wedding was yet again sweet and very well done. The way Kiran opens up to Adnan and the manner in which he reassures of his love over and over again is one thing I don’t mind watching repeatedly.
Rukhsar’s double standards and bullying nature never fails to surprise me. She does not believe in giving her own mother in law an ounce of respect and always has an issue with serving her tea even. But when it comes to Kiran, she expects her to read her in laws’ mind and act likewise. There is no way that Kiran can ever please Rukhsar because she is impossible to please. Rukhsar has a very controlling nature and for some odd reason she thinks its her duty to pick fights with others. All this time when Kiran was doing the household chores, she had no clue that she was offending Rukhsar in the process. Kiran’s conversation with Rukhsar about the reason why she left her job proved to be the final nail in the coffin!
Sikandar justifies her actions by calling Kiran characterless and why is it so? Because she decided to get married again! This thinking is very common in our society, if a man remarries after a divorce, it is perfectly normal but if a woman gets divorced, she is expected to mourn the break up for years without end. Sikandar is not willing to accept that Kiran has moved on and also tries to convince himself that no one can love Kiran the way he does. Sikandar manages to control his anger whenever he has a confrontation with Arzoo, although he admits that he cannot control his anger… I wonder why! I liked the conversation between Sikandar and his father in which he continues to blame his father for being a bad role model. He seriously needs to take some responsibility for his own actions as his father rightly pointed out. He can’t go on living his life blaming others. He blamed Kiran for the break up and blames his father for everything else. It is not possible for anyone to mend their ways unless they start owning up to their mistakes.
It is very difficult to predict where the story will go from here. Kiran’s problems will not be solved until Rukhsar is out of the house. Sikandar and Arzoo’s track seems to be going around in circles. The preview of the next episode suggested that things are only going to get more difficult for Kiran and Arzoo’s parents will finally confront Sikandar and his family. All the actors did a commendable job like always; Sanam Baloch portrayed Kiran’s innocence perfectly. Even after going through so much, she still does not know how to play games. Hassan Niazi has been perfect as Adnan, I wasn’t very sure about his suitability for this role in the beginning but all my doubts have been removed now. Rukhsar’s character is not likeable at all but the fact is that Uroosa Siddiqui has been brilliant throughout the show.

I found this week’s episode totally dragged, and there was not much progress in the story either. Natasha’s tantrums, Qudsiya tears and Aaliyan’s frustration; we have seen enough of this in the past few episodes. It is high time the story moves ahead now. I want to see Emad Irfani and what role he would be playing in the show. The story needs to spice up a little to keep the viewers hooked.
The most prominent development in this episode was Dudi’s realization of how serious the situation is at Qudsiya’s house. She went to meet Qudsiya’s parents with the intention of making them understand the situation, and leave Qudsiya back at her house. When Qudsiya announced that Dudi wants to meet them, her family was on the seventh sky as they thought that Aaliyan’s family has accepted Qudsiya as their daughter-in-law and all was well. Little did they know what Dudi’s intention was for going to their house!
What Dudi saw there made her change her mind though! She had just started the conversation and was pointing out what a huge blunder they have made by letting this wedding happen in the first place, when Zaheer’s health started deteriorating again. Because of his condition, Qudsiya stopped her from saying anything further and Dudi quietly took Qudsiya back with her. I simply love Dudi and Qudsiya’s bond; Dudi understands Qudsiya so well!
Aaliyan was relieved when Dudi decided to visit Qudisya’s parents. He wanted the matter to get settled as soon as possible because it was causing trouble in Natasha and his relationship. He had expected that Dudi will clarify everything and leave Qudsiya back at her house, but was shocked to see Qudsiya in his house again. His frustration and anger was at its peak when Natasha once again lashed at him for lying to her.
Natasha created havoc once again when she saw that Qudsiya has turned to Aaliyan’s house. This time even Qudsiya was not spared, and she lashed at her in anger too. Her accusations and questions were highly insulting in my opinion, and Qudsiya was in tears by the time Natasha was done with her. Next, it was Dudi’s turn and she did even care that Dudi was the eldest in the house and deserved a little respect. She rudely spoke to her and called her ways old fashioned on her face! I really hope she stays adamant on her decision of staying away from Aaliyan now! (Though it seems highly doubtful)
I could not believe my ears when Aaliyan told Dudi that he was fine with Natasha the way she was, and did not want to change her. I agree with Dudi that if he intends to marry Natasha, then at least she should respect him. She downright insults him every time and is always screaming at the top of her lungs. I hope Natasha’s chapter closes soon and we get to see more focus on Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s track.
It was sad to see Aaliyan behaving so rudely with Qudsiya all of a sudden. If Natasha behaved rudely, it was still understandable because that was in her nature. But Aaliyan behavior was pretty unexpected; he was a completely different person in this episode. The kindness and sympathy in him has simply vanished, and he literally told her to go from his house. He did not even care if her father was unwell and according to him, it was not ‘his problem’. Dudi’s answer to this statement was bang on and Aaliyan was surprised that Dudi was taking Qudsiya’s side now.
Dudi has stopped Qudsiya from going back to her house, but for how long will she able to stay in the house now that Rana and Sultan are back. I have a strong feeling Dudi will take her with her to her sister’s farmhouse which was vaguely mentioned at the end of the episode. She would clearly not leave her alone in the house when she knows Sultan’s nature. Can we expect to see Emad’s character at the farmhouse? Well, this is just a vague guess from my side.
Hope we get to see something exciting in the next episode!

Right from the release of Waar, its box office collection increased with every passing day. It had a record first day opening, then record breaking Eid collection that left Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express behind and was also a cause of Akshay Kumar’s Boss failure at our Local Box Office.
The most anticipated and most loved movie of the year, Waar, box office stats collection till Monday says that Waar has been able to bag Rs 168.3 million three weeks after its release date. But shocking part is that Bilal Lashari’s Waar is still not the highest grossing Pakistani Movie, infact, Syed Noor’s Chooryaan is.
Choorian made under Syed Noor direction in 1998 bagged a total of Rs 200 million and that, too, merely on 20-22 screens whereas Waar is released on 52 screens (double of Chooriaan). Chooriaan, indeed was a very well directed and well executed family film for then viewers and the result of box office sensation was its excessive marketing done by Shalimar Television Network.
Now that Holy month of Muharram has started and also Krrish 3 has been released that is also giving Waar a tough competition, there is a question mark whether Waar will become Pakistan’s all time highest-grossing movie or not. Still, back-to-back shows on weekends are giving us a hope that Shaan starrer will leave Chooriyan behind.
Have you watched Chooriaan too ? Do share your views about Waar and Chooriaan.

Fawad Khan is one of the leading icons of the Pakistani Showbiz industry who do not need an introduction; not only in Pakistan but people all over the world love them for their outstanding skills in the field of acting.
Starting his career as a lead vocalist, Fawad Khan gradually boosted his career and Humsafar turned lucky for him in every way he would have ever dreamt of. As per the news feeds revealed by famous pages on Facebook, it was heard that the actor will soon be seen in a Bollywood movie sharing screen with Alia Bhatt. However, the rumor has just met its destiny with Fawad’s latest tweet where he has bluntly quoted that for now, there is no such movie in line where he would share screen with Alia Bhatt. He further said that if there will be anything of this sort, his fans would get to know about it ultimately.
A launching ceremony of Head & Shoulder’s limited edition was held recently in Karachi which was followed by a cricket match between Showbiz people and Shahid Afridi himself. This event was sponsored by Head & Shoulders. Shahid Afridi is the current brand ambassador of Head & Shoulders and was seen playing with all the actors, singers and producers. The match was held in Moin Khan Academy and the two teams were named as ‘Showbiz XI VS Shahid Afridi XI’. Khalid Malik was seen tossing the coin and taking interviews of the players at the match. Shahid Afridi was the captain of his team and Adnan Siddiqui was the captain of the showbiz team.
The players on the showbiz team included names like Fahad Mustafa, Adnan Siddiqui, Nawab Alam, Dr Ali. Kazmi, Noman Habib, Aijazz Aslam, Amjab Sabri, Syed Mukhtar Ahmed, Nawab Alam, Kamran Jilani, Shahzad Ali Khan & many more.
I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode. There was some really cheesy romance and then there was Ahad, who is once again troubling Haaniyah and creating problems for her. He has finally showed his true colors and has dropped the façade of being apologetic and guilty. I have lost hope that he would ever realize his mistake!
The blooming romance in the previous episode had turned into full blown cheesy romance in this episode. There were phone conversations, texts, a blushing Haaniyah and a desperate Ahmed who wanted to hear the three magical words from her mouth. She just kept on delaying and Ahmed kept on insisting, and then she finally decided to say the three words. For the first time she made arrangements to make Ahmed feel special. The romantic ambiance she created with the candles and the bouquet surprised Ahmed and he finally got to hear the three magical words.
“I love you Ahmed. Mein Bohat Khush Kismet Hoon Ke Ap Meri Zindagi Mein Aye”
Her confession was definitely worth the wait. Ahmed was on top of the world after hearing her confession and was at a loss of words. Ohkay, so why were there so many advertisements at the bottom? It totally ruined the text conversation scene for me, because we could not read the subtitles for the texts. The editing department really needs to be careful about such things.
Another thing which I noticed was the mehendi on Haaniyah’s hands. It has been more than two months since their wedding and technically, it should not be there anymore. I guess these scenes were immediately shot after the wedding sequence.
Ahad has had enough of pretending to ‘try’ and come to terms with his fate, and he has decided not to let Haaniyah live in peace with Ahmed. After reading Haaniyah’s texts on Ahmed’s phone and seeing how comfortable they have gotten with each other, he decided to become ‘the trouble in their paradise’. Ahmed and Haaniyah have just fallen in love and are living happily with each other, and Ahad is trying to create misunderstandings between them. First, he convinced Haaniyah to come in the car with him and then started misbehaving with her. He has resorted to some really cheap tactics to make Haaniyah upset. He has crossed his limits this time by trying to get close to her, and this is making Haaniyah extremely worried. I think she should tell this to Ahmed before he witnesses something that she would not be able to justify later on.
Ahmed did get a bit upset when he saw Haaniyah leaving with Ahad in his car. And though he knew that she had come with Ahad, he still asked her to check if she would tell him the truth or not. He was truly relieved to hear that Ahad was present at the engagement and just offered to help Haaniyah when she was stranded alone. Does Ahmed not trust Haaniyah? Why the insecurity all of a sudden? He was completely fine before!
Samina has gone overboard now with her doubts! I cannot believe she thought that something is going on between Afshah and Ahsan. Her thinking is truly disgusting, and even Ahsan was shocked to hear such a thing coming from her mouth! It is time Ahsan does something about Samina. I really do not understand why he stands her in the first place!
The preview for the next episode is indicating that Ahad is going to go one step ahead in his cheapness. Now let’s see for how long Haaniyah will remain quiet about this matter. I really hope she says something before it is too late!
