Arij Fatyma’s Mayon Ceremony!

Arij Fatyma is an exceptionally talented Pakistani actress and model who has been successful in both the fields. Many admire her as an actress but few know that she is the perfect combination of beauty with brains as the actress had secured second position at Karachi board in her matriculation exams.

Arij recently shared her Mayon pictures on her instagram account and we are happy to inform that the young beauty’s face is radiating with happiness in the pictures.

This will be Arij’s second marriage. The first time she got married was on 5 January. 2014 to Faraz Khan in a rather lavish wedding ceremony. The marriage didn’t last long and the couple got divorced soon. She never officially revealed the reason for the separation.

We don’t have much information about Arij’s fiance yet but we can say that he is a lucky man! Have a look at the pictures the gorgeous star shared on her account:

Bilal Khan Confirms He is Not Dead!

Yesterday, some news agencies started spreading the news that singer Bilal Khan had passed away. As expected the fans were shocked at the young singer’s untimely death. The rumors reached the singer himself and he finally decided to put a rest to them by posting a post on his instagram account to deny them.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BYBXgW4h-vL/

Thank God, he hasn’t joined Amjad Sabri, Qandeel Baloch and other departed souls in the next world yet, as the picture in the article wrongly depicted. His fans, in the comments section, expressed how shocked and heartbroken they were at the news. But there were some who said they knew the rumors were baseless and even joked that he should call in a press conference to confirm that he is indeed alive.

It’s unfortunate when some of our news agencies report such ‘non-existent’ incidents without bothering for a confirmation. We are glad to inform you that the young singer is healthy and well and also pray for his long, successful life.

Ghairat Episode 5 Review – Realistic & Gripping

This was yet another engaging episode of Ghairat which did not only take the story forward but also showed a certain degree of character development. Saba’s character is turning out to be the best part of this drama. The director deserves due credit for keeping the scenes short and to the point. Also, the timing of the flashback scene in tonight’s episode was impressive; it conveyed exactly what was going through Saba’s mind. Very often viewers are left wondering what is going through the mind of the lead characters which sometimes makes it very difficult for the viewers to connect to thes characters. Everything does not need to be communicated through dialogues but such flashback scenes play an important role in translating the feelings of any character.

Saba’s mother’s behavior and her stance is a breath of fresh air because we have watched so many dramas in the recent past in which mothers forced their daughters to put up with injustice. Although, she told Saba that she was not scared any more but later on she found it difficult to speak her mind when she was talking to Usman. I loved this particular scene because it was realistic; no one can change overnight especially someone who was never taught to take a stand for herself. Her attitude however shows that she does not want Saba to end up like Iqra. Samina Ahmed is a phenomenal actress who always gives every character she plays her best. Iqra Aziz has been beyond impressive as Saba; she makes it very easy for the viewers to connect to her character.

Ghairat Episode 5 Review - Realistic & Gripping

Zohaib once again tried to talk to Usman, a development which did more harm than good. This was yet another one of those developments in the story which show just how well-planned the entire plot is. If Usman just sat back and waited for Saba to get in touch with him, it would have been unrealistic. I also appreciate the fact that all the characters get as much screen time in every episode as they did in the first two episodes unlike many other dramas in which the writers and the directors have a difficult time dividing the story evenly among all the characters. The writer’s overall approach has been realistic and he has shown the conflict between all these characters exceptionally well. None of the characters so far have taken a backseat, all of them are constantly trying their best to get what they want whether it is Saba, Zohaib, Shagufta or Usman. Jibran Syed, Muneeb Butt and Saman Ansari have also performed brilliantly. They fit in perfectly in their respective roles. Muneeb Butt however needs to tone his make-up down, he does not need so much foundation!

Usman’s conversation with his brother about Kulsoom highlighted his double standards! His “ghairat” only gets violated when the women in the house show their preference for a man and there is nothing wrong with the brothers spending time with women they are never even going to marry! I am glad that this particular aspect of Usman’s personality was shown in this episode because usually men like him have shocking double standards. Faizan Sheikh has also been acting brilliantly and I am wondering why his name is missing from the end credits!

Ghairat has definitely proved to be a pleasant surprise because I wasn’t expecting it to be this entertaining and well put together. The preview of the next episode showed Saba mustering up the courage to voice her opinion but she gets the same violent reaction from her brother which she got in the first episode. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yeh Raha Dil Last Episode Review – It Could’ve Been Well, Even Though It Ended Well!

Ohkay so, finally, Yeh Raha Dil came to an end. As much as I am happy with the ending, I wish I could’ve said that about the way the ending was approached. The drama-makers expect us to tune to their drama (despite all the dragging) right till the end & just when the viewers do that in order to see their favorite characters together, they are given probably last 30 seconds of the drama together thinking it will be enough? I remember a lot of viewers complained about the fact that Hayat & Zaki being the lead pair didn’t have much scenes together but I always thought they must be saving the best for the last & we will get to see their magical scenes (& a lot of them) but now I feel trolled & yes, the drama-makers being responsible for it who literally gave the coverage to every other character for weeks & not Hayat & Zaki who we all were watching the drama for in the first place. Yes, I do understand that their relationship went through a lot of phases but to literally treat them as an after-thought was a bad bad idea! I don’t know why but I feel our drama-makers know how to kick start a drama but they really lack the knowledge of how to reach a perfect ending & this is exactly what happened with Yeh Raha Dil as well.

So, Salman came back & apologized to Hayat, even though I wasn’t expecting his return since it didn’t make any difference anymore, but the closure to this aspect was a bit too unrealistic. At least Hayat could’ve fought with him like the way she always did, it was good that she forgave him but demanding a little explanation wouldn’t have hurt. Yes, Hayat was at a happy place since she got her parents back, a sister, her home, enough finances to lead a stable life so it didn’t really matter to her what Salman did but at least Salman owed her an explanation!

Ohkay, even though I liked that Nida was shown leaving no stone unturned to convince everyone around her that she didn’t want to get married to Zaki since he & Hayat belonged together but I found those scenes a bit too unnecessarily long, like they could’ve easily cut down on them to accommodate others’ or if not anyone else; Hayat & Zaki’s scenes since they were the main leads. The conversation between Zaki, Nida & Jimmy was way too stretched because they kept on repeating the same things over & over again. Nida already explained herself to Zaki & told him the reason why she was backing out but looked like she had to do a whole lot of explaining once again only to fill the duration of the episode.

I really liked how they showed Hayat reflecting on everything that had happened in her life lately, where she was thankful for each & everything as this is exactly what she wanted but yes, she was dreading the idea of Zaki’s return in her life, even though in the end, she was the one who approached & confessed, so I guess it would’ve made so much sense if they had told what changed in her like what convinced her to go by what Nida wanted?

I never really thought that I would say, but out of all the conversations, I had a good laugh at Nida & Hassan’s conversation because his dialogues provided that comedy quotient that this drama was once known for. I mean how simple & plain could he be where he was being informed that he was played upon & he was comparing himself & his situation to Shahrukh Khan that too based on hypothesis? Oh well, Hassan did have a slip of tongue where he said ‘achi family ki larki’, hmmmm so even he wasn’t so unconditionally in love with Hayat & it was obvious that after seeing Hayat’s lifestyle & her family, Hassan thought it wasn’t a bad idea to be with a girl like her as it would help him secure his future & to be honest, it looked like he was more sad for missing out on the opportunity in stead of mourning Hayat’s loss, lol!

So, talking about the last scene, I so wish they had recreated that magical chemistry that both Hayat & Zaki once shared but since they didn’t have much time & they were rushing, they just brought in the flavor of the love-hate relationship that they both had. I am not sure why Zaki wasn’t the one who approached Hayat since he was going through so much of pain to play tricks on her so now when Nida was out of his life, what was he waiting for? I liked the fact that the writer gave a message that in stead of rushing into the marriage, both Hayat & Zaki set goals for themselves, like showcasing that they had their own life & priorities, even though it saddened me because I assumed we’d be getting to see Dilbar Jahangir (DJ) for the last time performing on their wedding so it didn’t happen but I still liked the fact that the drama didn’t end on a typical happily-ever-after note!

Overall, this episode was good but it could’ve been so much better. There was too much rona dhona for my liking, especially in a drama which started off as a rom-com. Yes, the things that needed closure needed this sort of treatment but just the way they added some bits of comedy through Hassan, they could’ve done that through other characters too in order to stay true to the genre of the drama. Even though the parents had their happy ending, but I wish they had shown their reactions on this matter too, where they had encouraged & appreciated Nida for her honesty & selflessness & had given their nod of approval to Hayat & Zaki. I feel so much else could’ve been done in this last episode but it was an opportunity wasted. However, I liked the fact that the writer very intelligently brought out the originality of the characters & kept them true to who they were introduced as. Nida chose to be stubborn just the way she was introduced even though she had so many people telling her that she shouldn’t call off this marriage. Zaki stayed confused even when the coast was clear & still wanted someone else (in this case Hayat) to take charge of the situation, like he just knew that he loved her but didn’t know the way to go about it. Hayat stayed calm & relaxed even after seeing the one who betrayed her in the worst possible way, like these were the details that I loved & enjoyed watching, it showcased the ability of the writer & the clear cut vision of his with which he conceived those characters!

I must thank the writer Mustafa Afridi for giving us such amazing characters & some very amusing dialogues throughout this drama. I will especially thank him for writing the character of Haroon, such a cool father who in stead of blaming anyone else, always held his son accountable for his mistakes & shortcomings. I loved his sarcastic one-liners that he directed at Zaki in order to wake him up but it just didn’t happen. I enjoyed Hayat’s character too & Zaki was an interesting hero as well who stayed confused right till the end. Fatima’s character was another interesting addition to the story where she was unapologetically herself & didn’t believe in posing to be someone she wasn’t. I wish they had shed a bit more light on what went wrong between Affaq & Hayat’s mother because during the drama it was hinted that something or the other will be revealed but it looked like a forgotten detail, like I was actually interested to find out the reason behind them drifting apart. I will especially thank Arjumand Azhar Hussain & Ayesha Sana for their phenomenal performances, just loved watching them as Haroon & Fatima. Imran Peerzada performed decently too. Adnan Jaffar deserves a special mention for playing the character of Jimmy with such finesse that he made us laugh even in the most complicated situations. Ahmed Ali Akbar & Yumna Zaidi were perfect as Zaki & Hayat & stayed in their element throughout the drama. The one who impressed me the most with the improved acting was Anum Gohar, like I could never imagine that the girl who was the weakest actor in the drama Kathputli had this much potential to perform like she was just amazing as Nida & lived the character of a fierce competitive model to perfection. Last but definitely not the least, I will thank Ehtashamuddin for becoming memorable Dilbar Jahangir & making us laugh hysterically! The director did a brilliant job as well but after a certain point it became a bit too obvious that even he couldn’t have a grip on the story because the producers chose to swoop in & told him to stretch the drama. I so wish Hum TV stops doing that because they have ruined some amazing amazing dramas by resorting to this practice.

Will I still recommend this drama to those who are interested in binge-watching it? Most certainly yes because it would be easier for them to skim through those episodes where the story lost its charm & became unreasonably stagnant. For me, it is going to remain such a drama that I have mixed feelings about, like I loved more than half of it but the ending part failed to keep my interest intact. Overall, I will still say it was a good & fun experience to tune to Yeh Raha Dil. Please share your thoughts about this interesting drama!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Noor’s Dance in Nida Yasir’s Morning Show

0

There was a time when the shows that played on our Pakistani channels followed some code and conduct. That was the time we could watch TV shows with family without having to be on alert in case the show turns out into something that one would rather not watch with family and need to switch the channel. However, now, that seems to be all gone. We’ve seen hosts dance senseless, embarrass their audience, asked the audience to do things a respectable person wouldn’t want to do on a live television show and even crack some very inappropriate jokes. This time a host’s guest was the problem. Nida Yasir asked Noor to show some dance moves and it seemed like Noor was just waiting for the opportunity. Watch her forget that she is dancing in a live morning show watched by millions of Pakistanis:

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 8 Review – Multifaceted Characters

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua has some unusual and fascinating characters which keep me hooked to this show. Mansha Pasha’s performance and Dariya’s character, Faris’ character played brilliantly by Sami Khan and even Maya’s character which has gradually grown on me, are three such characters which keep me looking forward to more. I especially like the way these characters are etched-out and the manner in which they have been translated on screen. All these characters are multifaceted which is why they keep me guessing as well. The presence of internal conflict is another reason why I find these characters appealing; all of them are fighting their own wars and so far all of them are struggling! Apart from this, these characters seem like real people stuck in a really bad situation therefore it is easier connecting to them. Saif’s character could have been equally interesting if Zahid Ahmed did not go overboard. He seems to have an interesting background which is yet to be revealed. Also, the unnecessary physical contact between Maya and Saif could easily have been avoided because it does not contribute to their track in any way.

This episode focused on the two main tracks in the story. Maya is gradually realizing that Saif isn’t as trustworthy as she thought he was. Saif’s refusal to letting her stay in the house and later on his disappearance made her question his feelings for her. Also, the reality checks Baila keeps on giving her somehow have an effect on her even though she never listened to her family members when they told her those things. I am glad that Maya has not been shown as a horrible person but she appears to be more gullible than wicked. Maya’s background story revealed that Saif worked really hard to make her come back to him. Their conversation in his flat showed that Maya did love Faris but she also could not let Saif go. Saif convinced her that they were meant to be together and that’s when Maya started falling out of love with Faris. The way Maya greeted her sister and the conversation they had clearly showed that Maya missed everything about the life which she had left behind but she was not going to go back home until she got married. Maya thought that this was going to be a smooth journey therefore she was not prepared for all that is coming her way. “Mein apne yakeen ko shuk mei badalne ki koshish kr rahi hu”! was one of the most interesting dialogues in tonight’s episode.

Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua Episode 8 Review - Multifaceted Characters

Faris and Dariya keep you guessing about their relationship with each other but these two definitely have great on-screen chemistry which makes their scenes a treat to watch. I am looking forward to finding out what turn their track takes in the upcoming episodes. Faris does not want to get married to Dariya because he feels she deserves better, that is something he has said before too and Dariya is not the kind of girl who would go out of her way to “convince” him that he is wrong therefore I am wondering whether these two will end up together anytime soon or not! Siraj Uncle’s character is a mystery as well, I am sure he has an interesting story to tell.

So far, I am enjoying the slow pace of the drama and every episode gives me a reason to look forward to more. The preview of the next episode looked very interesting! How many women does Saif have in his life? How will he cover up for himself now? What will Maya do if she realizes she has been cheated? Waiting to find out!

How many of you watched this episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 4 Review-Judges Awaken!

0

This episode’s theme was original songs by the bands. All bands had to present their originals to the judges and there was a double elimination at the end. This time too I’ll talk about all the aspects of the show one by one. First one being hosting. Finally Ayesha hosted well. Today she was not trying to be over excited about everything. Her communication with the participants looked natural and in flow. Her parting talk with the eliminated bands was good too.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 4 Review-Judges Awaken!

Yes the judges have awaken. They were actually listening to what was being performed infront of them today. Atif was the best judge in this episode followed by Shahi Hassan. They both pointed out weaknesses of lyrics as well as notes and chords which were misplaced. Fawad also showed interest in every performance and was not doing Sabb acha hai today, he was better in the previous episode too but today he felt like a judge. Meesha however does not look like a good judge. She keeps fumbling her sentences and is mostly seen looking forward to what others would say.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 4 Review-Judges Awaken!

Bands today performed some very good numbers. My favourite like that of the judges was Jasim And The Pindi Boyz today. They performed their original Korina. The lyrics were not meaningful but these guys are music geniuses, they know how to cover the lackings in lyrics and vocals with catchy music. It was a fun number. Loved it. Darvesh did Sadaye Darvesh while Badnaam performed Khawaja Ki Deewani, both of these are from Sufi genre. Badnaam’s was obviously well written as compared to Darvesh but I found both the performances very close today. Madlock according to me fell only on their music as I didn’t understand what was going on with the lyrics. Judges pointed it out too, their Kab Hoga wasn’t worth performing in a knock out round. Kashmir has been one of my favourites uptill now but their Budha Baba went over my head. I understood what they wrote it about but still one does not perform Budha Baba as their original for a knock out round specially when double elimination is involved. Roots performed Khirkiyan and honestly it was a repetition of two lines only over and over. The lead vocalist sounded like she had problems in breathing while hitting higher notes.

Darvesh and Madlock were eliminated today. Darvesh performed better than Kashmir and specially Roots but still they got eliminated. According to my opinion Roots should have gone along with Madlock but it was their day.

Pepsi Battle Of The Bands Episode 4 Review-Judges Awaken!

Sara Haider gave a special performance with Zindagi and it was simply awesome. Beautiful vocals and powerful energy. Episode 4 was undoubtedly the best one so far with all people filling their shoes finally.

Like Mother , Like Daughters !!!

There has been a lot of study on the emergence of new age women who are strong, fearless and speak their minds. Numerous studies show that it is a collaboration of nature plus nurture, and this can be proved by another story of a very strong mother daughters trio.

Urwa Hocane and Mawra Hocane are two sisters who have seriously taken the world of Pakistani showbiz by storm. Despite not being extraordinarily talented and making some very widely criticised life style choices, you have to give one thing to them: they are passionate, ambitious and hard working. There is no denying the fact that they are go getters, which itself is a very admirable personality trait to have, especially in women. They had come in an interview with their mother many years back, while they were still debutantes, when the threesome talked about how their mother’s personality shaped their personal and professional choices.

Recently their mother Razia Makhdoom, who is settled in Sydney, Australia and is very active in community services there was awarded with an honour from the Australian Learning Council, after she had organised a memorable Independence Day for Pakistanis in Sydney.

Mawra has also shared an inspiring post about her mother, who has not ceased to learn and improve her education till now.

Like Mother , Like Daughters !!!

No wonder Mawra is so intent on finishing her law degree despite her heavy scheduling as an actress. She has been known to study while she travels for work.

Urwa is also an example of hard work on her own. Along with being newly married, she is starring in four films this year. These girls never stop and they are right to always point at their mother when asked about their motivating force.

Zahid Ahmad Sings Live for the First Time!

Zahid Ahmad requires no introduction as everyone is aware of this talented actor. The tall, brooding and handsome Zahid Ahmad owns the hearts of many girls in Pakistan. He has become a well known actor over the years and has also proved his acting skills both as a hero and a villain in the characters he has played.

Zahid Ahmad Sings Live for the First Time!

If you thought he just modelled, looked really good and acted well too, then there is a surprise. Turns out, Zahid Ahmad can sing well too! He has kept this talent to himself until now. Today in Sanam Jung’s morning show, the handsome hunk for the first time ever, sang a song live in the show:

Happy Birthday Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi!

Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi is a multiple award winning singer who has made Pakistan proud on various platforms. His voice is loved not only in Pakistan but all around the world. He is considered a folk icon in Pakistan and one of the most popular singer here. Moreover, his name definitely makes a place in the most popular folk singers in the world.

The 65 year old singer was born in Isakhel, Mianwali, Punjab. He found his love for music at a very tender age but was forbidden to sing at his house. At the age of 18 he decided to leave his parents house to pursue his career in music. The young Attaullah would record cassettes of himself and distribute him to the public.

Today, everyone in Pakistan is aware of who he is. His songs are especially popular amongst the truck drivers who drive for hours on highways listening to his melodious voice.

On his birthday, we would like to wish him a very long and happy life. We also thank him for all the contribution he has made in the progress of music in Pakistan.

Have to listen to his soulful voice:

Sayonee Receives A Severe Backlash On Social Media

Sayonee Receives A Severe Backlash On Social Media

Coke Studio episode 2 released yesterday, and to the dismay of all it also revamped Sayonee. The song which was initially sung by Ali Azmat was re-sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Noor. The song that carried Junoon legacy was featured as Salman Ahmed’s musical direction. The hopes were high around the country, however the song fared miserable among the masses.

Not a single Coke Studio went by thrashing the singers and Salman Ahmed, claiming that they have completely destroyed the song. Here are some Twitter comments that have been making rounds regarding Sayonee:

Sara Loren Sees Her Bright Future In Bollywood

Syed Noor Held India Responsible For Chain Aye Na’s Failure

Syed Noor has burned all the boats when it comes to making successful films for Pakistani cinema. His recent attempt with Chain Aye Na has failed miserably. But, it seems that Noor isn’t ready to just take the failure of his film yet.

Syed Noor Held India Responsible For Chain Aye Na's Failure

While talking to media in a press conference, he said:

“I spent seven months making a film in Karachi and have resolved to make all my upcoming films in Karachi. For Chain Aye Na, I was warned about the bloggers, who I was told don’t write positive reviews unless they are paid. I ignored them but I didn’t know the power of bloggers. My film is a simple love story. And they turned it into a film against women, all because of a slap. I must tell you that it was a slap of love, as all lovers do fight.”

“They must understand that we bring a huge investment into this industry and these negative reviews affect their output, which will discourage investors from returning again. I am not against bloggers. I am just strongly urging that they hold off reviews for at least a week and let the public decide,” he said.

Syed Noor Held India Responsible For Chain Aye Na's Failure

Though he should be apparent of the fact that his film failed to even collect a single person in the cinema on days.

“You journalists are seniors and have been here for a longer time. Bloggers are a recent creation. Educate them. They are hurting the industry. Don’t provide platform to such people. It’s only here that my film has suffered, otherwise, Chain Aye Na was a box office success in the US and Canada. I have collected all the stones that hit me and my film. And as they say, the foundation laid with stones is much stronger.”

Syed Noor Held India Responsible For Chain Aye Na's Failure

As though blaming Pakistani media, cinemas, journalists and filmmakers wasn’t enough, he went on to blame that bloggers were Indian propaganda:

“I don’t know why they do this. I think it’s an Indian agenda to hurt the Pakistani film industry. Our cinema is just once again growing and they don’t want to see this happen.”

We are baffled than ever as to why would Syed Noor call his own nation debating for a better cinema, an Indian conspiracy. We are sorry but it is just plain ethic less.

Zahid Ahmed Gets Candid ON JPJ!

Zahid Ahmed came to Sanam Jung’s morning show Jago Pakistan Jago for promotions of his play Daldal. The show was a bit different than normal morning show fiascos. It was an interview with the actor and Sanam asked him a lot of questions about his personal life. Zahid also gave an insight into his personal life.

Zahid Ahmed Gets Candid ON JPJ!

Zahid has two sons Zaviyar 3 and Zayaan 1. His wife Amna is a business woman and she runs a facebook store which deals with women bags and similar stuff. Zahid told Sanam that his wife has always been very self-sufficient and does not want to endorse her work in any way as she believes in doing her business on her own.

Zahid Ahmed Gets Candid ON JPJ!

He also told Sanam that he has started refraining from being too active on social media now as he believes the distance between an actor and his audience should be maintained. Looks like Shaan Sahid’s overexposure statement has got a new follower. Zahid said that Daldal is his first drama which is social issue based and deals with the reality prevailing in the society.

Zahid Ahmed Gets Candid ON JPJ!

Zahid never remembers his wedding anniversary either and told Sanam that his wife is very understanding and accommodating about his career demands. Muneeb Butt later joined the show and Sanam and Zahid made a lot of fun of his philosophical statements. Zahid also said he has named both of his sons as he wanted his children to have names with letter Z and meanings were his second priority.

Nouman Ijaz is currently seen in O Rangreza and Yumna Zaidi in Ye Raha Dil on HUM TV both of which are loved by the audience and now they will be seen in a single drama. Dar Jati Hai Sila is being termed as an intriguing story. Here are some pictures of the cast:

Coke Studio Season 10 Episode 2 Review- Better Than First!

0

Coke Studio episode 10 aired today and it also consisted of four songs: Tinak Dhin, Sayonee, Faasle and Jaan e Bahaaraan. The artists included Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi, Waqar Ehsin, Ali Noor, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Salman Ahmed, Qurutulain Baloch, Kaavish and Ali Zafar. This episode was a blend of goods and bads. Lets break it down song by song.

Tinak Dhin:

Music director of Tinak Dhin was Ali Hamza who has written the lyrics of the song as well. It was performed by Ali Hamza, Ali Sethi and Waqar Ehsin. Tinak Dhin had a very 90’s party song feels and will be perfect for cardio exercises and long drives. Ali Sethi was fabulous in this one too and debut singer Waqar Ehsin was the best among the lot, a good debut from his side. Though Ali himself was the man behind the symphony, I didn’t like his vocals in the song. All in all this was a good one.

Sayonee:

Music director is Salman Ahmed. If I can sum up this Coke Studio rendition in one line it would be:”I missed you Ali Azmat!”. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is no doubt a legend and his voice his hands down magical but its not made for a song like Sayonee. Even Ali Noor didn’t do justice to the song. Only the music was good because it was done by Salman himself. This one is a disappointment! A very bad combo of singers I guess, two doctors made to work the job of an engineer to explain it simply. Ali Noor has rustic voice that is why he sounded a bit better though.

Faasle:

Music director is Jaffer Zaidi. The song was performed by Qurutulain Baloch and Kaavish. It was a good one. It was soothing and soulful. Best combo of artists. Kaavish did a satisfactory job and Qurutulain showed once again why is she one of the best singers we have. She actually increases the level of every song with the strong tone of her vocals. Music was balanced and vocals were awesome. This one was okay. Sahi hai Acha hai in short! Not the best but not bad either.

Jaan e Bahaaraan:

Music director is Shuja Haider. It was a tribute to Master Inayat Hussain who was the original composer of the song. Ali Zafar proved why is he considered the rock star of the industry. He sang the song beautifully and to be honest the best part about Jaan e Bahaaraan was the music. The music had an Arabic undertone and it made me love the song. It was a good tribute, well structured and well sung. Baby brother really needs some classes from Big B.

This episode was definitely better than the first one but was any performance MIND BLOWING? Not for me atleast. More is to come lets see what happens. Which song did you people like? Share in the comments section!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review – A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

Waqar and Maheen’s track has been going around in circles for many weeks now and the only time these two characters come face to face is when Maheen wants to confront Waqar. Tonight, Waqar decided to do exactly what he promised Neelam he would do and Maheen fell for his lie immediately. However I don’t really understand when Waqar flirted with Maheen? He was leaving for England and Maheen stopped him, did I miss something? Having said that, I must add that the fact that these two have never really shared their feelings with each other made this entire development convincing. The lack of communication is the main reason why it was so easy for Waqar to fool Maheen. Also, Maheen has a big ego therefore she will never question Waqar’s action. Am I the only one who finds Ami Begum’s exaggerated reactions to everything around her funny now? Like every other episode, I felt for Waqar more than anyone else. I am glad though that for once Ami begum did not misunderstand him. She knows that he is lying but even then, that thappar was totally uncalled for!! Ami’s begum is a wise woman whose intentions are at times right but her actions most often are so wrong and off-putting!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

Fajr’s role in Maheen and Waqar’s track in this episode was difficult to relate to since she has always been shown as someone who takes wise decisions. She knows just how impulsive Maheen is and what frame of mind Waqar was in but even then she went and told Maheen everything. Ali and Wali were getting plenty of screen time in the first 13 episodes or so but all of a sudden, they are completely out of the picture. Wali’s character in particular was always highlighted as an important one yet he is nowhere to be found now!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

For the first time Jia and Maheen had a serious conversation about Jia’s personal life. The viewers never knew that Jia had shared these details with Maheen because their conversations usually revolve around Waqar. These conversations should have been shown; Jia’s sentiments and Maheen’s reactions to them would have been interesting to watch. This way, the viewers could have seen the difference between the two. Tonight, when Jia told Maheen what her plan was, Maheen could not relate to Jia’s frame of mind. Right from the beginning Jia has been shown as someone who has a lot of pent up anger therefore the negativity with which she is dealing with the situation is completely in line with her character. It was rather odd watching so many characters dressed to impress in the middle of the night especially Maheen’s mother, Ami begum and Fajr. It is good to see Mehrunissa’s character shaping up to be one of the most sensible characters in the play. Saman Ansari has always chosen to play significant roles which surprise you especially towards the end and she always excels in them.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

The story is moving forward gradually and it’s about time that it came to an end since we have seen Waqar admitting he loves Maheen and then denying it not once but twice now. The preview of the next episode showed Ami begum reflecting on her actions and Maheen promising Gulrez that her barat will go on his foxy! I am definitely waiting to find out how the drama ends because there is still a possibility that Maheen and Waqar might end up together. I also want to know what happens to Gulrez in the end since the first episode suggested that his track ended tragically. I still think that this drama could have been a lot more entertaining if the director executed it differently.

O Rangreza Episode 4 Review – Perfection!

Ohkay so, another week, another brilliant episode of O Rangreza. I love how the layers from each & every character are still being lifted to give us more & more insight into their minds & souls. I must say if there’s one word that I would use to describe this drama, it would be mesmerizing, like every single aspect about this drama is on another level, be it in terms of writing or direction or art direction & even acting, it is rare to find perfection of this sort in our dramas these days & I am glad O Rangreza is proving out to be such a treat for the viewers who tune to it!

I love how the writer makes sure to shift the focus on different characters in different episodes, it maintains the novelty even in the middle of story where the viewers might think they have understood everything about the characters. This time around, the focus was on Mumtaz & also on Sassi. I feel for Mumtaz a lot, I most certainly do, but then again, like I said last week, I am not sure how long I’d be able to feel for her especially seeing how she doesn’t believe in doing anything to change things around her. There was a lot of focus on Sassi & Mumtaz’s relationship as well where time & again Mumtaz was reminded of where she stands in Sassi’s life!

Since Sassi is so not used to listen to her mother, I didn’t really feel that there was a need for Sassi to lie to her that she was going to see her friend when she was actually going to visit Sonia Jahan’s place. Sassi is used to ignoring what Mumtaz says plus when she had already made up her mind, she could’ve told Mumtaz honestly where she was going because Sassi is upfront, honest & straight forward. Anyways, Sonia Jahan steered Sassi’s thought towards Qasim in a way that even Sassi couldn’t decipher for now. Sassi has always seen Qasim as her ‘buddy’ who she can boss around easily that is why it seemed like a news to her when Sonia said that there was something special between them.

I enjoyed the conversation that Sonia & Sassi had. Even though Sassi is in an awe of Sonia & she is too young to read between the lines but I have a feeling that Sonia will make Sassi familiar with a lot of aspects of men & their mentality that Sassi hasn’t really paid attention to. The first lecture that Sassi got was about not falling for a man because of his looks, it was too obvious that Sonia Jahan was sharing her own bitter experience of a failed relationship with Sassi, that is why she not only seemed disturbed but depressed as well. Even though Sassi is not too mature to understand what Sonia is sharing with her at this stage, but since she pays heed to everything that Sonia says, I am sure Sassi will start grasping all these things in her subconscious slowly & will be able to relate to everything later!

I liked how Sassi went to see Qasim, like she obviously misses him & but is too stern to admit that therefore it was her way of seeing him & making sure if he was doing alright. This is what I love about Qasim & Sassi’s relationship the most, like it is unconventional & unique, there’s nothing typical about it, even though the way Qasim smiles at her & lets her know that he is happy, Sassi never reciprocates those emotions & that’s what makes everything even more interesting. There was no need for Sassi to come & threaten Qasim but she just came because just like everyone else, even she was missing him.

So, Qasim hasn’t gone to his uncle’s place, he doesn’t want to burden him & then he is also hiding the fact that he is staying in his shop because he doesn’t want to bother Mammo either. I love how obedient Qasim is to Mumtaz, at least there is someone who acknowledges her & gives her some right to have an authority over. We can see that Mumtaz does try her hands on having some sort of power or control but it only works on Qasim & not anyone else, including her own daughter. I think Mumtaz’s conversation with Khayyam regarding Sassi was another way of showcasing how helpless she feels in front of both her husband & her daughter. Mumtaz can see that Sassi is getting a bit too independent for her & even Khayyam’s liking, that is why she wanted to inform Khayyam to at least do something because she is well aware of the fact that the moment Sassi will commit some mistake, Khayyam will blame Mumtaz the most. Even though Mumtaz tries but there’s always this defeat in her approach which shows that she has given up even before seeing the results of her attempts & that I think is the actual reason why everyone walks all over her because she herself is not confident enough!

Oh well, Sonia Jahan spoke about Khayyam turning her into a puppet whereas she doesn’t know that Khayyam is doing everything to qualify as her stooge himself. Khayyam went to see Qasim only because Sonia told him to & not only that, he also rewarded Qasim on securing 2nd position because this is what Sonia said as well. It is demeaning how right in front of Mumtaz, Khayyam shows this side of his that would be ideal for his wife, like he obeys & listens to Sonia Jahan whereas this is how he should be in his marital relationship. It shows that Khayyam is perfectly capable of being a good husband but just because he has no interest in Mumtaz, he doesn’t put much effort rather he doesn’t even bother!

Another conversation, another reason for Sassi to think outside the box. Sonia once again subliminally told how she was just an illusion & just like all the other men, even Sassi saw her as that without trying to get deeper into her existence to see & understand who Sonia Jahan actually is. I am actually interested to see how & when Sassi will start analyzing the bittersweet truths that Sonia has whispered in her ears over these conversations, like Sassi has met her plenty of times to get over with the ‘star-struck’ phase, now she needs to get over that in order to understand Sonia & her struggles.

Overall, this episode was amazing & I had a great time watching it. I loved the tiff Sonia’s Manager & Sassi had & how Sassi settled the score. I am sure there’s going to be more to this tiff & I am definitely looking forward to it. Oh well, I loved loved loved the dream sequence of Qasim & Sassi, the chemistry between Bilal Abbas Khan & Sajal Ali was so strong in that particular scene, it was just beautifully & perfectly portrayed. I just love the usage of the OST, I think the editors & the sound engineers should be commended for using this song so intelligently, it just ties everything together in a very unique way, it’s like they know that the song is something else but haven’t overused it or over-relied on it. The direction keeps on getting better & better & the same can be said about the performances too. I must commend all the actors especially Irsa Ghazal, Noman Ejaz, Bilal Abbas Khan & Sajal Ali for taking their performances a notch higher every single time. Sana Fakhar is very graceful & elegant as Sonia Jahan, she has given her 100% as well & it is a treat to watch her. After watching the preview of the next episode, I just can’t wait for the next episode, looks like this will be the first time when Sassi’s bubble will burst where she thinks her father as an ideal man who believes in giving women a complete ‘freedom’ that they desire & require. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of O Rangreza.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Nimra Khan In Controversy!

Actress Nimra Khan’s mother runs a salon and gym. Things got really heated up when a girl posted a video featuring Nimra’s mother in which she was misbehaving with the girl and tore her money. The girl claimed that she wanted to get back fee which she deposited for a program at gym but never attended it. Allegedly the owner first agreed to pay her back but later said he won’t return the said money. Here is the video which the girl recorded:

https://youtu.be/1RPvLkuPkls

Nimra has now responded to the allegations and called it a hoax. She said it was all pre-planned. The girl damaged her property and wanted to defame her salon.

Nimra feels ditched by many people and is very disappointed because her mother was framed according to her.

This Bollywood Actress is all Praises for Fawad Khan!

It’s no secret girls go gaga over the handsome hunk, Fawad Khan in both Pakistan and India. He has a huge fanbase in both the countries and it’s not only the fans that love him, but the technical team, producers, directors and even fellow actors have good things to say about him too. In fact, after the love that he has received from both the countries, people started terming the endless appreciation for the actor as the “Fawad fever”. Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra from India were also affected by the fever as we all know.

Today we are here to report that another another girl has become a victim of the fever. This time, the girl is a rising Bollywood star:

https://www.instagram.com/p/BTRSdLxglyB/?taken-by=egupta

Esha Gupta is is an Indian film actress, model, and the winner of the Miss India International title of 2007. She is head over heels in love with Fawad’s voice and his accent. The actress also claimed that nearly every Indian girl is in love with him, especially after watching him in, “Aae Dil hai mushkil”.

Giving an interview to Instep,  the Bollywood Diva said,

After Ae Dil Hai Mushkil every girl in India fell in love with Fawad Khan including my friends, my mother and myself.

She believed girls liked the way he and most Pakistanis speak urdu,

I love the way you people (Pakistanis) speak; your language has the royal touch that only Saif Ali Khan has in India.

Furthermore, she praised Pakistani singers making waves in Bollywood:

Even singers from your country are loved in India and it is through entertainment that we can bridge the gaps and move forward.

It’s always good to see a positive remark made in the favour of Pakistan and Pakistani artists by someone from India especially after the ban that was placed on Pakistani artists in India by Shiv Sena in 2015.

Coke Studio Season 10 Episode 1 Review-Below Average!

0

Coke Studio is undoubtedly the best music platform we have in Pakistan. Many singers have become stars and has gotten a status which is not possible otherwise in the current situation of music industry. This year Coke Studio has completed its ten year run and the line up of the artists didn’t really impress me. Why? You’ll know as the review progresses. So the Coke Studio started this year with a patriotic song again but this it was not a national song but the National Anthem. Here is your Coke Studio version of National Anthem:

Many may have liked it but I am not very high on liking on this performance. Everyone is humming the Anthem like it is some kind of sad song. That is not the way to recite your National Anthem. One should always recite it in the way that brings out passion and patriotism in a person and not the urge to cry your eyes out. Even Coke Studio should not get away with it.

Now coming to the first episode we got four songs: Ranjish Hi Sahi, Muntazir, Chha Rahi Kaali Ghata, Allah u Akbar.

Allah u Akbar:

Music director was Shuja Haider and the song was sung by Ahmed Jahanzeb and Shafqat Amanat Ali. Its from the Qawwali genre of Coke Studio. Was it good? Aaah Average I would say! Many people would disagree again but once you set your standard to Chaap Tilak and Tajdar e Haram, you cannot expect the audience to settle for anything less. Ahmed’s performance was better than Shafqat by a few points but it was in no way a 10/10 performance.

Ranjish Hi Sahi:

Music is directed by Jaffer Zaidi. So far the best one in Coke Studio 10. Ali Sethi performed really well. It was a tribute to Mehdi Hassan Sahab and Ali did a fabulous job. His soft notes and way of singing did justice to Mehdi Sahab’s ghazal. Ghazals should always calm a person when they listen to them and Ali just did the thing. Ali is really talented and he proved his mettle once again in this song.

Chaa Rahi Kaali Ghata:

Music director is Sahir Ali Bagga. Simple verdict, it was below average. Not Coke Studio material. Only saving grace was Hina Nasrullah’s performance. I was expecting better from Amanat but he didn’t live upto the expectations. In most parts of the song Amanat’s voice was buried under heavy music. Things could have been better in this one.

Muntazir:

Muic director are Strings. Audience remained Muntazir that Danyal’s voice will somehow come out from under the heavy music and maybe a bit less auto-tuned. Momina has already got a lot of appreciation for her good looks and I think that is enough now and she should try to strive on her singing rather than her looks. And how Danyal got to Coke Studio in the first place. Bottom line: Worst song ever!
