Choti Si Zindagi Episode 13 Review – Na Mehram Pulao!

0

Ghaaliban aap jaantay sub hain magar anjaan bantay hain – spot on, Sohail! Sohail is turning out to have more of a personality than just the class clown. I started liking him more when he helped Urwah get a job and accommodation and tried to make light of it when Urwah thanked him. And now his assessment of Urwah is definitely in line with my thoughts for really, what is Urwah up to? He is not as seedha as he tries to portray for if he was he would have told his new neighbours he is married. I will not stomach that he is ‘embarassed’ for he was given the opportunity to say so when his neighbour asked and also later on when her grandmother interrogated him. He is quite a dark horse, encouraging the neighbour, married to Ameena and lost in the thoughts – and letters- of Azra. Wah! I am not being judgemental, except maybe I am, it is just that I really want to like Urwah and do not want him to value Ameena after he has gone all astray but these aspects to his personality are not very endearing.

Speaking of endearing, Ameena has managed to win over her mother in law with her sweet nature. Just a thought – why is it in our dramas that either the husband loves his wife and the in laws hate her or the in laws love her and husband wants nothing to do with her? Why can there not be a win-win situation? I love Urwah’s father’s personality for while they love having Ameena around, he realizes her true place is with her husband which is why when he learns that Urwah has a place to stay, Ameena should go live with him. Ameena and Taayi’s bond is sweet, yes, and although at first I was a little skeptical and astonished at their joint reaction to this announcement, I still sort of understood Ameena’s hesitation. She had begun to develop feelings for Urwah but with his brisk response when she rang him and then as she says he never writes to her, who could blame her for not wanting to go live with him. Also, given how she is so young and quite naïve she does not really understand that being married to Urwah means living with him and that as comfortable as she may be with Taaya and Taayi she can not continue living like this for very long.

So, while Azra was on the brink of desperation she gracefully took her leave when she learnt Urwah is married. This new neighbour ‘Shabnam’ as Sohail called her (ha!) is definitely going after Urwah, full guns blazing. It would not be very hard to relate to her wanting to catch glimpses of the new, young male neighbour for like she says she is stuck at home all day and she is a young girl but the ease with which she teases Urwah and is literally throwing herself at him seemed a bit much but then maybe there are such characters in real life. Despite Naani keeping a stern eye on her granddaughter at first and voicing her reservations over Saiqa constantly finding excuses to meet Urwah, there still seem to be plenty of opportunities for the two to interact, especially now with Naani falling ill. Because Naani is unwell but korma and pulao tau zaroor banein gay!

Na mahram pulao! Sohail’s comments sometimes are truly funny but also hold a ring of truth to them. For yes, pulao is not na mahram (duh!) but Urwah is married and should make that very clear to Saiqa. Next week’s preview showed Urwah’s father traveling alone and I hope it will make him speed up sending Ameena to Urwah and not the other way around. I am not sure why he had to go alone anyway for although I had expected Ameena to land at Urwah’s doorstep this episode and even though she did not, the episode was not all that bad. I surely do not want to see more of Saiqa fawning over Urwah while Ameena stitches clothes for the entire neighbourhood! Waisay while she is at it, maybe she could stitch something for Urwah too, even if it is flowery for it would definitely be better than the beige/mustard shalwar kamiz he is mostly clad in!

The actress playing Saiqa is bearable – just about – but while Sohail’s grin makes me smile, her big smiles make me cringe and I wish her a speedy exit like I wished Azra! I like Serwat Nazeer’s dramas because they show how a couple interacts and grows together, well most of her dramas do so I am waiting for Urwah and Ameena to be together again soon. Save Sohail’s scenes which provided some comic relief this episode was just okay and am waiting for the story to move forward now. What did you all think of this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 09 Review – A Feel-Good Drama!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was quite interesting. I like watching Moray Saiyaan for the fact that it is a feel good drama but I wish the focus on the older characters & their miserable lives was a little less because I watch this drama for the young characters & their stories. I think by now a lot has been explained & shown in a lot of detail as to what happened between all of them & why they drifted apart, so may be it’s time to come to a solution to all the issues & show us that at least someone is doing something to bring the entire family closer. To be honest, as much as I like this drama, I don’t see any reason for it to be exceeding the 16th episode mark because there isn’t much to the story, but I know these days it is not possible, which actually makes me a little skeptical about what they have in store for us to keep our interest alive in the show till the end.

So, Ghaziyan was trying hard to move on & he has only accepted everything after getting to know that even Zubaria wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra, which actually makes me question Ghaziyan’s stance & his determination. Just because Ghaziyan understood that Zubaria would never get married to him, he easily gave up thinking Nimra was the one he was destined to be with but honestly, it left me wondering where did that Ghaziyan go who was introduced as someone who only listened to his heart & who believed in having things his way. Also, I am not sure why Ghaziyan was blaming Zubaria for his misery because if there’s someone who’s to be blamed it is Ghaziyan himself, because he has not only upset is family members, he has also destroyed Zubaria’s reputation as well. While Ghaziyan is shown to be an intelligent & intuitive sort of a guy, I guess they should’ve also shown that before approaching Zubaria, Ghaziyan ended things with Nimra properly that too in front of his entire family so that none of them blames Zubaria for swaying Ghaziyan & his feelings. I think Ghaziyan should be mature enough to understand that his approach wasn’t right & he tried to go for something on his whim, without even considering what the consequences might be.

As much as I like Nimra, to be honest, I am not understanding her thought process too. Where in front of her mother, she jokes with Ghaziyan as his fiancée, then in privacy, she tells Ghaziyan that she never wanted him to get married to her by leaving Zubaria. Once again, Nimra came across as quite a mature person, so why is it that before cutting her wrist off, she didn’t think things through that this particular move of hers will put Ghaziyan in an awkward position & he will have to succumb to the pressures of each & every single family member. It is actually a little off-putting to see Nimra still trying to push her luck when deep inside she herself isn’t oblivious of the fact that Ghaziyan is not in love with her & most importantly, he is unhappy about the entire situation.

To be honest, as much coverage that all the elders are getting, their equations are getting uninteresting because all of them talk to each other as if they’re playing riddles & no one comes clean in their stance. Gul Zeb seemed completely oblivious of Kabeer & his whereabouts, till the moment he showed at her doorstep, then now she was handing him over the property papers saying that she was taking care of all that stuff for him, in his absence? I don’t really understand if this was the case, then how was Kabeer living his life while being cut off from everybody? One thing that actually shook me & made me detest Zakia’s character a little more was the fact where Kabeer discussed with Gul Zeb that Zakia was suspicious of the relation that Kabeer & Gul Zeb shared, because of which he didn’t divorce Zakia because he knew that if he would, she would find it as a validation of her suspicion that something was definitely happening between Kabeer & Gul Zeb. I think this sheds a light on how sick minded Zakia is, like she is just so bitter that in her bitter pangs, she ends up imagining such weird & bizarre things.

Well, another thing that I found a little odd was Kabeer’s opinion on Zubaria & Ghaziyan’s marriage, that Zubaria’s life will end up getting ruined if she will get married to Ghaziyan, not because of Ghaziyan himself, but because of Zakia because she will be around her? I think this was actually quite immature of Kabeer to say such a thing because why would Ghaziyan & Zubaria stay with Zakia for the rest of their lives? Also, just because Kabeer wants to save Zubaria from Zakia, he wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra, despite knowing that Ghaziyan doesn’t love his daughter Nimra & he is in love with Zubaria? I actually think a man of his age, who himself has experienced a dysfunctional marriage, didn’t look wise while saying such things. I find it actually quite amusing that each & every single person knows that Ghaziyan is not in love with Nimra, but they all still want both of them to get married, thinking things will change? Like what guarantee do they have!?!?!?!

Well, another thing that I found odd was that Nimra actually had to go through Ghaziyan’s phone to get Zubaria’s number, whereas they both are first cousins & in one of the previous episodes, Zubaria did suggest that she spoke to Nimra about this entire situation, so I am not sure why was it shown that Nimra had to take a longer route to reach out to Zubaria, like they are cousins so they both should be having each other’s contact numbers, right? Well Kabeer wants Ghaziyan to come to his house to receive his bride Nimra & that is why he put forth that demand but as always, Zakia depended on Waris to do the heavy-lifting & save the day by acting like her lawyer. Honestly speaking, I find it a little off-putting that Waris has no opinion of his own, it’s like he has allowed his beloved sister to wrap him around her little finger & use him like a tissue. Waris only voiced his opinion when he wanted to convince Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra & now when that has happened & Ghaziyan has said yes, Waris is silent?

Overall, this episode was good, I enjoyed watching the scenes of Zubaria & Ghaziyan, especially the one in which Ghaziyan was inquiring about Zubaria & later he was thinking about her, because the song that was used as a background score fitted the situation really well. Another loophole that I found was that Farah & Zubaria spoke about Farah being a gynecologist, so can someone tell me why was she attending Nimra & the cut on her wrist, lol? Anyways, as much as I really like how elegant all the ladies look, I really wish they hadn’t white-washed all the gents because they would’ve looked far more manly & graceful in their actual skin-tone. The acting of all the new comers has improved a lot I must say. Also, the preview of the next episode actually got me excited, because I am sure seeing Ghaziyan staring at Zubaria, Nimra would say no to Nikkah, but it forced me to think that if it wasn’t for Nimra, Ghaziyan would’ve gotten married to her & had lived his life without a purpose & a voice? Hmmmmm, as much as I like Ghaziyan’s character, it somehow puts him in such a light where he looks weak to me because he is coming across as someone who has no voice of his own & without a proper approach, he easily ends up getting pressurized into doing something which he doesn’t want. I think I would’ve liked him a little more if Ghaziyan had stood up for his love & had told everyone that if not Zubaria, he won’t get married to anyone, no matter what they say or what they do, because it wouldn’t have made him look selfish, but at least someone who had a mind, an opinion & a voice of his own & not someone who depended on others mercy. In short, I would’ve liked if they had shown that Ghaziyan had enough wisdom to approach things in a proper & appropriate manner. Anyways, let’s see what’s going to happen next week because I am actually excited for it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Kuch Na Kaho Episodes 18 & 19 Review – Emotions Running High!

0

I should keep a log. Or Mohsin should get a hobby. A new hobby that is. For now, he seems to have not much else to do but find new adjectives for Aina – none of them flattering. Along with Mohsin, Sajal should also find herself a hobby. She does seemingly nothing all day except pop up unannounced behind Aina with her ‘tum manhoos’ rant. Actually scratch that. For when she let her focus shift from Aina to someplace else, she has ended up with the ‘jaadoo tonay’. Sigh.

So quite a bit has been happening at Mohsin Villa. Tempers flaring, accusations being hurled and meltdowns. When Aina started telling Noman about her past, she barely got the beginnings of her story out and it was too much for Noman to handle. I am glad she decided to come clean and good riddance to Noman! Mohsin and Sajal are united in their despair for they were hoping to offload Aina on to Noman but she thankfully had the sense to see that hiding something big as this only for it to raise its head after marriage would worsen matters. Aina had begun to find a bit of her spark again for I loved the raised eyebrow and face she made when Mohsin said that accepting anything from her would be haraam for him. Seriously?! But the maid’s antics which led Sajal and Mohsin to blame Aina sent her back to being mazloom and weeping round the house. Sajal’s mindblowing latest accusation obviously was the last straw and sent Aina over the edge and although the whole scene in the rain was a bit dramatic it did not seem overly so especially as I could feel Aina’s frustration. She feels she is to suffer for the ‘mistake’ she made but there is only so much someone can take and with all the negativity coming at her from each direction, for Sajal to make a mockery of the one solid relationship in Aina’s life would send her over the edge.

Kuch Na Kaho Episodes 18 & 19 Review - Emotions Running High!

I thought Mohsin was just a stern, negative man but I am beginning to feel that the background ‘evil’ music that plays when he is around is certainly befitting! When he walks up behind Aina when she is crying I wanted to scream, nahin bhai, Nadia nahin hai, and thankfully he heard me, haha! But what is with the uncontrollable anger and name calling. He is like Sajal where he shows up to throw in his two cents, his taanas and screeches and disappears again. He and Sajal seem more saggay to me – he and Faraz can not be brothers really!

Even though Sajal is negative as, well negative as negative goes and she is really crossing the line with throwing accusations left, right and center sometimes her comments made me laugh. For instance, when she said about Faraz wanting dinner, that ‘girlfriend nay lunch karwa kar nahin bhaija?’. Then when Aina said Mohsin does not eat ‘baasi khaana’ (food cooked in the afternoon – baasi? Really?) and Sajal quipped that now Mohsin will eat whatever is prepared for really with his wife gone and his ‘wonderful’ attitude, Mohsin is expecting a bit too much I would say! Her reaction to meeting Sabrina was so immature, I guffawed and even more so after Sabrina’s ‘tumharay shohar ko bulaoon gi’. What was that about, by the way?

Faraz seems to be the only one with a very sensible head on his shoulders. His shocked expression when Aina was blamed for the stolen money, his comments to Sajal and Mohsin and the way he tries to raise Aina’s spirits make me feel he is going to realise very soon that things need to change or I think Sabrina may just look like a very attractive option to him – job,Amrika and taana-less, the whole deal!

Kuch Na Kaho Episodes 18 & 19 Review - Emotions Running High!

With emotions running high and Aina and Faraz beginning to lose their patience too, throw in the maid’s plans and it seems like there will be a huge explosion soon and I am looking forward to it. Next week’s preview showed Aina had more to say than just cry and suffer silently and I hope this does not blow up in her face and Mohsin and Sajal finally do back off. With so many people in one house and nobody having a life outside those four walls, it is hard to find time alone but seriously they should all start watching their backs – literally – from Sajal when she is pouring all that sugar in the tea/milk, to Aina when she is standing weeping in corners and even the maid when she is stealing!

Naveen Waqar continued to be impressive as Aina in these two episodes. The scenes where she has a breakdown and screams were done really well for she was screaming but it was not the shrill, unbelievable type, rather one could feel her desperation. I could not help being reminded of Sara from Humsafar though in the scenes where Naveen was wearing that black outfit when she speaks to Noman. Sajal reminds me of Tweety bird from Sylvester and Tweety who shows up big eyed everywhere gloating in her own goodness. I think all Faraz needs is to be taken by the hand towards an open door and be told something along the lines of ‘ja Simran ja – jee lay apni zindagi’ and Simran/Faraz shall gallop! I could understand Mohsin better if we were shown moments of slight regret of how he treats Aina and puts it down to his grief but his anger seems to know no bounds and I am not sure where all of it is coming from. Also, Emaad Irfani can not pull off the angry look so he needs to get past it and move on and start being nicer to Aina so that we can be nicer to him too.

Anyone else wondering how Aini and Imran are faring? LOL. Also, I guess baba ji is not very authentic for Faraz drank the ‘sugar-ed tea’ and Aina the ‘sugar-ed’ milk and both seem to not be very fond of Sajal anymore, ha! What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Muqabil Episode 5 Review – Power-Packed Performances

Tonight’s episode was intense with some superbly executed scenes to its credit. The director has made the most of natural sunlight and he has also made sure that the different colors used in all the scenes make every scene more visually pleasing which definitely helps since otherwise the overall feel of the play could have been too dark and depressing. For the first time the viewers are watching a play in which the victim is all set to damage the person who violated her in a way we have never seen on television before. Now that Pareesa and Mehmood’s past has been revealed, it remains to be seen how the story will be handled from here on. For all these years Pareesa was waiting for an opportunity which would be perfect for making Mahmood’s life hell. Once she is married to his son, she will be a permanent part of his life. Pareesa has also been shown as someone who is so damaged because of her parents’ neglect and the way she was violated in her childhood that she just does not care any more. The way Pareesa takes care of her servant’s daughter clearly shows that this is how she feels every little girl should be taken care of.

Mohsin Abbas Haider yet again was beyond impressive in this episode. Arman’s character is also one of a kind. It isn’t very often that we see such grounded men his age in our dramas who know exactly what they want from life. Any other man would have jumped at the opportunity of getting married to a girl like Pareesa but Arman knows his “auqat” only too well. His dialogues about how he was brought up in that house and the way he was made to feel were excellent. Mohsin Abbas’ body language was simply amazing in all the scenes. His performance is just as impressive as that of Asif Raza Mir which is truly remarkable.

Muqabil Episode 5 Review - Power-Packed Performances

Mehmood’s conversation with Pareesa showed that even today he is not ashamed of what he did to her. He actually used his terrible actions to dissuade Pareesa and that too in a threatening manner. This scene showed that although he was shown as an upright man but he was the exact opposite. So far the viewers had seen a very calm and polished side of him but his expressions when he threatened Pareesa said a great deal about what kind of a person he really was. Asif Raza Mir completely nailed that scene with those expressions! Kubra Khan has also translated a difficult character on screen impeccably. The hatred which Pareesa has been living with all these years is quite evident from her expressions. The scene in the pool was daring and creative, it was one of the best scenes of this episode.

Pareesa’s mother continued to act like she was in competition with her daughter and watching her behave like this makes it easy to understand why Pareesa could never confide in her. Although Pareesa’s father has been shown as a caring person but he has little or no say. While watching tonight’s episode I felt for Arman just as much as I did for Pareesa. He is definitely collateral damage and he has no clue why Pareesa is putting him in this situation.

Just like every other episode of Muqabil this one too had a mysterious feel to it and it also had some amazing performances to its credit. Kubra Khan, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Asif Raza Mir’s brilliant performances coupled with skillful direction make Muqabil a must watch. I highly recommend it to all those people who haven’t watched it yet.

Be Aib- The end

For 21 episodes, Sadaf Sarmad was on a rampage- unstoppable, uncontrollable, or to put it in the context of the drama- be lagaam. Sadaf was a woman who dictated how her family should live every second of their lives. She ruined her daughter’s life and never flinched for a second and continued plotting and scheming thinking money could buy her happiness. Sadaf came from humble beginnings but married into a wealthy family and somehow that got to her head. She started looking down at those around her and put herself on a pedestal from where she felt she could critique others and judge them.

Sadaf’s nikamma brother, Safi was a failure in her eyes and the mere association with him was an insult to her. She hated her Bhabi Ayesha and felt no love towards her niece Inaaya and nephew Ahmed. Her elder sister, Shahana was also married into a privileged family but wasn’t as affected by her newfound wealth as Sadaf. As Shahana prospered, Sadaf realized she wanted Tooba to be married to Taimoor as he had a promising career. An unfortunate accident resulted in a disability that for Sadaf was too big of a deal breaker. She called off the wedding and arranged for a better prospect- Fawad. Being Sadaf, she started finding flaws in Fawad too and ultimately when she came to know Fawad was previously married and divorced, she forced her daughter to demand a khulah. Tooba didn’t want to leave Fawad and didn’t have the courage to justify herself to her mom and decided to run away with her husband but he ended up getting killed in a car accident. Instead of consoling her daughter, Sadaf started playing matchmaker again and upon realizing that Taimoor made a miraculous recovery soon after being married to his aibdaar cousin Inaaya, she was determined to get rid of Inaaya by playing with her insecurities and using that as an excuse to wreak havoc through ganging up with her sister Shahana.

Be Aib was no journey at all. There was no realization on Sadaf’s part- except when her useless husband threatened to divorce her and leave her minus the luxuries that Sadaf had a nervous breakdown and then she rushed through her maafi naamas. The breaking point wasn’t due to his daughter’s pain but rather the humiliation he felt when Shahana’s husband pointed out that Sadaf was meddling with Ahmed’s business and defaming him. Ahmed carried a torch for Tooba but knew he wasn’t elite enough to ever be considered as a suitable match. However, once Tooba was widowed and her fiancé Taimoor was married to Inaaya, Ahmed’s confidence grew leaps and bounds. His journey from rags to riches further solidified his eligibility yet Sadaf thought nothing of him.

From the beginning, the drama made its stand clear- we were supposed to hate Sadaf and empathize with Safi & his family. Yet, Safi’s family didn’t earn an ounce of my sympathy due to their selfish motives. Ayesha was a woman who was perpetually unhappy with her financial condition and she left no opportunity to mock her husband. I never saw her having a meaningful conversation and her entire focus was on envying everything Tooba had which eventually became Inaya’s. Once Inaaya was married, never did she worry how her daughter would get settled into married life but her conversations were always about how much money she had at her disposal. Safi was no less- he was perfectly okay relying on his sister for financial support and even happier knowing he didn’t have to return it.

Be aib lacked in many ways- the storyline was an utter failure and the make up artist and stylist lacked vision too. The director tried his best to minimize the chaotic mess but there was really no saving it. The acting in my eyes was the biggest sore spot. Samina Peerzada is a phenomenal actress but her portrayal of Sadaf was horrendous. Alishba Yusuf looked whiny and bored as Tooba. Noor Hassan’s puffy hair and coloured kurtas were too distracting to take him seriously. Asmat Zaidi’s flower accessories and wooden expressions let her down.

Urdu 1 really needs to up its game. It’s becoming renowned for high quality productions but they’re not working with the audience. Although most times I tune into a show for its production values and cast, it really needs more than that to deliver. The storylines aren’t the greatest and I feel the directors fail to extract a fine performance which is what makes all the difference. They are managing to rope in big names and I’m hoping their creative department will awaken from their slumber and take charge of much needed change.

Sanam Episode 17 Review – Akela Hai Mr. Bechara, Ms. Bechari Chahiye!

Ohkay so, aj tak mujhe coffee itni karhwi nahi lagi par abb kya karain. There are few such dramas where when their episodes begin & end, the viewers really can’t keep a track of time because they are so engrossing, but these past 40 minutes were the longest 40 minutes of 2017 & honestly speaking, I kept on checking the timeline of the uploaded video again & again because I just wanted it to end as it was just so slow, boring & uninteresting!

Can someone please tell me how is Aila affording to stay in such a huge house that too on rental? Like Aila is not in contact with her parents, so that thing is out of the picture that they must be sponsoring her spying-spree, plus her house-mate, Shehroz is Masha Allah se so gaya ghuzra that he can’t even afford an anday wala burger for himself, so it is actually quite nonsensical to show that both Aila & Shehroz are living in such an area, in such a huge house that too on a rental, without having any financial support or backing from anyone. Shehroz’s insaniyat pangs were just like him, boring & uninteresting. I find it quite amusing that Shehroz doesn’t forget to push Aila’s agenda in front of Harib that she still wants to be with him? Like the conversations in this drama have become so repetitive & boring that if you watch this drama on mute, you’d still be able to figure out what these guys are talking about, because they have nothing new to talk about in the first place. Chalo jee, acha hua Harib ko 5 mahinay baad sharam o haya ka khayal aa gaya because of which he told Shehroz that it was quite odd that he was sharing a roof with Aila & next thing we know, Shehroz packed his bags & left, matlab he is so besharam & beghairat, that if it wasn’t for Harib’s late lecture, he wouldn’t have left on his own, haan bhai muft ki chatth aur anday parathay kisay buray lagtay hain!

Oh PHULEEEEZZZ Shabnam, stop trying so hard to make it to the list of worst mothers of 2017, because everything that you are doing goes to show you want to score a top position in that list this year. Honestly speaking, Shabnam’s character was the only good thing about this entire drama & it is a shame to see that thing turning into a disaster. Shabnam has so much of an insight into everything & she seems quite concerned about a lot of intricacies too like she can sense some ‘pareshaani’ on Aan’s face & she even feels it is inappropriate for Aan to be with Harib at such an odd hour, but if there’s one thing she is unable to see, that is Farhan & Nayla’s motives & the 12AM look on Aan’s face. I heard Harib talking about Aan’s 6th sense, like I am bringing that up because this is such a phenomenon that the writer is aware of, so why did she forget that when it comes to their daughters, mothers are quite intuitive themselves. Every mother knows what her daughter is going through & in stead of turning a blind eye from it, every mother tries to communicate with her daughter, especially those mothers who’re a single parent & have only one daughter in their lives, so, I wish in stead of showing Shabnam being so indifferent to Aan’s feelings, the writer had shown that Shabnam grew even more concerned when she didn’t see Aan as happy as she was expecting her to be!

Wah Ri Mohabbat, kya kya karwati hai, jaisay aik dupattay wali bechari ko aik na-mehram becharay ke galay lagwa deti hai. So, Aan couldn’t find anyone else & that is why the moment Shabnam spoke about Harib’s dinner, Aan scurried to him, yes, I like their friendship, I do understand that Aan has no one else to talk to & confide in, so it’s alright, but there was no need of showing that ‘friendly’ hug, that too after Harib has confessed his feelings to Aan. Aan’s entire act of ‘app kya keh rahay hain’, ‘appne kya kaha’, ‘kaho na, kaho na pyaar hai’, ‘kaha na, kaha na pyaar hai’ was actually quite annoying & her oblivion seemed quite forced because all of a sudden Aan started looking like a patient of Short Term Memory Loss, because the way Harib’s dialogues were hinting about his love for Aan should have been enough but in stead Aan started questioning what Harib was saying & why? Behan jee, us din chullu bhar aag mai dubki maarte hue Harib miyan ne izhar-e-mohabbat kiya tha, app wo bhool gain yan GUGU ka khitaab app lena chahti hain yan itni chalaak hain ke Harib se phir se aik confession ugalwana chahti hain masoooooom ban ke? I think in stead of shoving Anda Parathas down Harib’s throat, Shabnam should give Aan some Badaams in the morning in stead kyunki BITTU ka haafza kamzor ho gaya hai!

Anyways, the entire conversation that Harib & Aan had about Farhan’s dhoka & Shabnam’s damma was sooooooooooo long that even my coffee finished but that scene was still going on. Seriously, this entire conversation has been happening from the past so many weeks where Harib is in a fix thinking whether he should tell Shabnam & Aan about Farhaan or not. Anyways, it was good that Aan decided that she would tell the truth but seeing Shabnam’s uncombed hair compelled her to stay quiet. Chalo jee, looks like this drama & Aan’s on Mann Mayal & Mannu track, but here’s a little bonus for Aan, because in this drama, Farhan already has 2 kids, so she wouldn’t have to wait till she gives birth to her own so that she could return to Harib after getting divorced from Farhan.

The entire conversation about Qasab being khatarnaak & Qasab doing Farhan & Nayla’s tukray wasn’t funny actually & in fact it seemed quite forced. This episode was boring & I thought it couldn’t get boring than this but the preview of the next episode proved me wrong because it told me that things are going to get even more boring in the episodes yet to come. Shabnam aunty, sudhar jayein, nahi to appko worst mothers ki list mai dalna hi parega. Oh, I always thought that Aan’s full name would be Aan Shaukat Qureshi but she was like Aan Ahmed Qureshi, hmmmm, Sanam ho aur loopholes na hon, aisay to halaat nahi! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this BEAUTIFULLLLLLL (ahem ahem ahem) episode of Sanam!

Pakistan’s entertainment industry has been growing fast with every passing year. Actors and most importantly their acting is something that completes a drama and makes it worth watching. There were many actors seen last year playing some promising roles. Many new faces made their debut on television and most of them managed to wow the audiences instantly. There were still few of those who need to improve in various ways but still are somehow a good addition to the television industry.

Here is the list of Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

Uzair Jaswal

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

He has been associated to the entertainment industry since years and has proved his acting skills time and again. He made his television debut with running drama Moray Saiyaan playing the lead role as Ghaziyan. The character he plays is of a guy full of life and falls in love with another girl despite of being already engaged. Uzair Jaswal managed to shock us instantly with his acting skills, in the beginning his acting was not to the point but with every passing episode he’s getting better and more promising. He certainly is one of the most promising addition to the drama industry.

Neha Rajpoot

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

The beautiful girl can be the latest emerging star of Pakistan. She is currently seen playing the lead role in drama Moray Saiyaan as Zubaria. Her acting in initial episodes was not satisfactory but as the episodes passed she seemed more comfortable in her role as her expressions and dialogue delivery seemed natural. She plays the role of a not so cherishing girl and needed a push to realize how amazing life can be and her character did made her connect to the audiences in no time. Her beauty has made her the sensation to look out for.

Sharmeen Ali

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

She was seen in dramas throughout the year playing supporting roles and is currently seen in dramas like Sang e Marmar, Sanam and Dil Banjara. She was first seen in drama Mera Dard Na Jane Koi followed by in Zara Yad Kar as Geti, her addition to the cast of ZYK was unnecessary since there was not much the character had to offer and her acting seemed too forced and unnatural at the same time. She’s not the best newcomer we have and somehow doesn’t have the perfect acting skills to say but has been improving lately. Currently she is playing an important role in Sang e Marmar and is getting better with every episode. Her dialogue delivery and expressions are improving and she has a long way to go.

Ghana Ali

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

She is the latest television sensation with her prominent roles in Besharam, Saya e diwar bhi nahi and Sangdil. She has proved her mettle as an actress by playing supporting and negative yet strong roles. The lady has been able to put up the expressions generously, i remember seeing her as Saba in Besharam and her part was quite impressive. Her roles here and there got her the recognition and the audiences attention she deserved. She will be soon making her film debut in a pivotal role and might be the next rising star.

Maryam Fatima

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

She made her acting debut in 2016 with a lead role in drama Lagaao as an antagonist. She was next seen playing supporting roles in Zara Yad Kar and Udaari. Maryam did managed to get audiences attention with her work in Lagaao but what got her more attention was her supporting role in ZYK. Starting her career at a young age will bring many opportunities in future. Her acting does needs improvements because she at times failed to give the right expressions which doesn’t make it easy to connect and feel for the character.

Anum Mumtaz

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

The super model has been associated to the entertainment industry for a while now but made her acting debut with drama Kathputli. She was seen playing the role of Amna in the drama and her character falls in love with Sheraz but a series of hurdles upset their romance. The character she was playing was pivotal but she couldn’t do complete justice to the assigned role. Her dialogue delivery was not satisfactory and acting at times was disappointing too. Anum will be soon seen in another drama.

Kubra Khan

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

She first made her acting debut with film Na Maloom Afraad and was praised for her performance. In 2016, she joined the drama industry with the most promising dramas Sang e Marmar and Muqabil. She plays the lead roles in both dramas and is most certainly doing justice to the characters. Her expression and confidence while being on screen is phenomenal which made her win the audiences heart. She is all set to be seen in Khuda aur Mohabbat season 2 and Andaz e Sitam and sure has a lot more to offer with some challenging roles. Kubra is definitely one of the most promising and amazing television debutants seen this year.

Mohsin Abbas

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

He is another singer who made his acting debut with film followed by a drama. Mohsin was first seen in Na Maloom Afraad and went on do to a lead role in running drama Muqabil. He plays the lead role as Arman and perfectly fits in the character. His role is of a full of life simple guy and his character does has a strong appearance as he easily copes with situations. Mohsin’s acting is very impressive and it is difficult to say that he’s a newcomer because he’s able to pull it off with grace.

Ins E Yazdan

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

Mawra and Urwa’s brother followed their foot steps and made his acting debut in 2016 with a supporting role in Udaari. His role was minor so there was not much he could offer to the audiences, his acting was fine but lacked expressions, surely needs to improve a lot but he can work on it and make better choices in future.

Anzela Abbasi

Most Popular Television Debutants Of 2016

She is the latest addition to the entertainment industry. Daughter of Javeria Abbasi, Anzela made her acting debut with soap Gila. With just a few episodes down she has surprised us with her skills but still has to work on some flaws. She is definitely an actor to look forward to.

Please do share your thoughts and feel free to add.

Arshad Khan’s Latest Music Video

It was few days back only when we saw people going head over heels for the dashing Arshad Khan. Girls in Pakistan and even across the border were all gaga over his looks and everybody fell for his dreamy eyes. He became the social media sensation overnight. He since then has been signing many projects and his music video with Muskan Jay has finally released.

‘Be Parwai’ is a remake of Legend Nur Jahan’s classic song, but the new version by Muskan is extremely unworthy. Arshad’s good looks in the video are most certainly praise worthy but the music video itself is a disappointment.

Bin Roye Episode 14 Review – Irtiza In Action!

This episode of Bin Roye proved how much potential this drama had if the story had more substance and if someone as talented as Hamayun Saeed was given the chance to showcase his acting skills. So far Irtiza’s character was completely relegated to the background and the entire focus was on Saba. Irtiza and Saman’s track never resonated with me and for me it was just as forced as Safeer’s track because of the lack of chemistry between Armeena Rana Khan and Hamayun Saeed. Another reason why irtiza and Saman’s track did not work for me was that I didn’t quite understand their connection. In this episode however Irtiza was back to being the person he was before he met Saman and Irtiza’s love for Saba which was the highlight of this drama in the first few episodes once again proved to be the driving force in this latest twist in the story. The scenes in which Irtiza confronted Safeer and Saba both were emotionally charged and were the best scenes of this episode mainly due to Hamayun Saeed’s power-packed performance. It was great watching Irtiza looking out for Saba the way he used to before he met Saman. Mahira Khan just like always gave a brilliant performance; her superb portrayal has been the best part of Bin Roye even in the worst episodes which turned out to be a complete disappointment. Bin Roye could have been far more emotional if the writer explored Irtiza and Saba’a relationship more from different angles even in the previous episodes instead of focusing on only one aspect of this relationship; Irtiza ignoring Saba completely and Saba feeling left out as a result.

Bin Roye Episode 14 Review - Irtiza In Action!

Saba’s dialogue “achi bhali meri zindagi guzar rahi hai” was repeated in this episode quite often and the previous one too. I am glad now that her family knows the truth, she can finally stop saying that! Just like all the previous episodes of Bin Roye Saba’s parents’ role in this entire situation wasn’t the least bit impressive. Saba’s mother’s reaction was covered in one scene and the background music in that scene didn’t exactly suit the situation. Hamayun Saeed/Irtiza owned this episode; he was the only one who knew exactly what needed to be done because he understood Saba more than anyone else. He knew that Saba was hiding something but he had no idea she was covering up for Safeer. Mahira Khan’s expressions and body language were right on point especially when Irtiza confronted her.

The older lot in the drama was unfortunately the worst part of this episode; they were clueless and their reactions were not shown properly. Watching Sonia walking out on Safeer and Irtiza telling Sonia exactly what her husband had done was one of the most gratifying parts of this episode. In my opinion Bin Roye could have been a superb emotionally charged drama if some of the characters were etched-out in detail and if few of the unnecessary twists in the story were not forced on the viewers. A love triangle always works if there is chemistry between the leads and their relationships are well established but apart from few episodes like this one which gave the viewers exactly what they wanted to see, most of the times the story did not focus on those aspects which could have added more energy and detail to all the tracks.

Bin Roye Episode 14 Review - Irtiza In Action!

This episode belonged to Hamayun Saeed all the way and Mahira Khan deserves all the credit for giving the most credible performance throughout. The preview of the next episode suggested that Irtiza and Saba will get married and Saba will not be able to accept this relationship because of her guilt. Saba’s journey is very interesting and novel but I am afraid that this latest development in the story might be rushed too just like all the other important developments in Bin Roye.

How many of you watched this latest episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 10 Review – Shehzada Fakeer Ban’nay Ko Hai!

Ohkay so, when did this episode begin & when did it end, I absolutely have no idea. This episode, like all the previous episodes was engaging & captivating as well. I am actually quite impressed with the way the director has added so much of emotion in this drama that you just can’t help feel the pain of all these characters. I always love it when the thought process & the perspective of all the characters is conveyed with a lot of clarity, because it helps the viewers form a bond with all the characters & that actually ends up becoming a winning factor for any drama, that is why, along with many others, this is the reason why Khuda Aur Mohabbat is winning hearts!

Oh, I wish, I so wish that Molvi Aleemuddin had practiced what he preached. Molvi Aleeumuddin in stead of simplifying the criteria for choosing a spouse, ended up making it quite complicated because he wanted to prove a point to Hammad that no matter what he does, his family background & his upbringing is going to be the defining factor of his personality all his life. Molvi Aleeumuddin proved today that he is just a very judgmental person who on the surface might put religion above everything else, but deep inside, puts society & its norms ahead of the religion too & actually has no courage to break free from those standards. In stead of seeing Hammad’s efforts as honest & truthful, Molvi Aleeumuddin passed a verdict that Hammad was putting up a show only because he wanted to impress him so that he accepts Hammad’s proposal for Imaan. Even though I believe the portrayal of Molvi Aleeumuddin in this season is a bit harsh but somehow it doesn’t seem odd because it sheds a light on the complicated mind set of such people is, who are unable to maintain a balance & who are incapable of keeping religious & societal values apart. Molvi Aleeumuddin is quite conniving in my opinion because he is someone who knows how to reap benefits in any situation, where when deemed necessary, he brings religion into the picture but when it doesn’t seem to work & goes against his personal wishes or thinking, he puts false & fake standards of the society in the limelight, making it a sound like a part of the pivotal religion too.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 10 Review - Shehzada Fakeer Ban'nay Ko Hai!

Hammad did promise to give up on the hope of getting married to Imaan because he couldn’t see Molvi Aleeumuddin in so much of pain, but as a result, he took everything to his heart & that took a toll on his health. It is actually quite nice to see how Hammad has found a new family in such a short span of time, that too on the basis of his conduct & personality. All the relationships that Hammad has earned during this time are based on love, respect, courtesy & selflessness because no one actually knows who Hammad is & which social background does he belong to. When Hammad left his father’s house, he had nothing but just his honesty with him & that is something that has earned him so much in such a short span of time. I actually loved it how Hammad was the focus of everyone’s concerns, starting from Kheru to Ghafoor to Siddique & now his wife Najma too. Kheru eavesdropped on Molvi Aleeumuddin & Hammad’s conversation & he got to know that Hammad is a son of a commissioner & that’s how Ghafoor got to know that his gut feeling about Hammad wasn’t wrong & he wasn’t just an ordinary guy. Najma’s entry at this stage of the drama was a good addition I believe. It is good to know that Hammad will now have a sister with whom he will be able to share all his feelings.

Molvi Aleeumuddin informed Abdullah that he wanted to get Imaan married to her. If I put Hammad’s suffering aside & consider the feelings Abdullah has for Imaan, it was actually quite nice to see Abdullah getting some sort of happiness, that too without demanding it because he has Imaan in his heart as well & came with an intention of being closer to her, so without even saying anything, he got to know that things were turning in his favor & the way Abdullah tried to contain his happiness in front of Molvi Aleeumuddin was actually conveyed brilliantly. Even though Hammad is persistent, but Abdullah does know Molvi Aleeumuddin quite well & he knows that if he decides something, he will never back out from his word, so despite knowing everything that was happening, Abdullah felt some sort of satisfaction because he was aware of how stubborn Molvi Aleeumuddin is & can be!

After returning from her cousin’s wedding, the way Imaan looked around at the railway station, in a hope to spot Hammad clearly showed what she had in her heart. Imaan has seen how hard Hammad has struggled for her, she has seen him getting shattered & picking up the pieces only for the sake of her love, so it was imperative that she was moved & probably ended up falling in love with him because who wouldn’t be touched with such a genuine & pure portrayal of love. Imaan couldn’t see Hammad but yes, it was evident that her eyes were searching for him. Hammad has not only made an impact on Imaan, but he has even touched Haya’s heart as well, that is why out of sheer sympathy for him, Haya informed Nighat about Hammad & his whereabouts as she knew that everyone was worried for him & it was a high time that his people came to his rescue because he was suffering a lot & was literally punishing himself!

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 10 Review - Shehzada Fakeer Ban'nay Ko Hai!

In this episode, Hammad himself took a back seat but it showed how he was affecting all those people who were related to him in any way possible. From Kheru, to Ghafoor, to Siddique, to Najma, to Shakir, to Shakir’s wife, Nighat, Haya, Imaan, each & every single person was worried about Hammad & was either trying to do something for him or was feeling his pain, which is beautiful because it goes to show how special Hammad is & how special he has become for all of those people who are linked to him in one way or the other.

So, the best bit for me was the very last scene of this episode because it was beautifully directed & edited. Molvi Aleeumuddin playfully & innocently imposed his decision on Imaan because he knew that she will not retaliate. In the very first episode, Molvi Aleeumuddin did speak about how he knows Imaan in & out, so it was too obvious that he was a 100% sure that his daughter Imaan won’t turn his request down. The way Imaan said yes to her father’s request went to show that her heart & soul was filled with Hammad’s thoughts & his love but her mind was forcing her to say those words which only would make her father happy. Even after saying yes to Molvi Aleeumuddin, Imaan didn’t seem happy, in fact she seemed defeated & numb because even though what she said made her father satisfied but she wasn’t content with her decision as she knew that the thoughts of a guy like Hammad who is madly in love with her will haunt her for the rest of her life, sigh! I absolutely loved that scene because the flashbacks that Imaan was having while uttering those words by being submissive portrayed the battle between her heart & mind perfectly!

Overall, this episode was just as beautiful as the last few episodes of Khuda Aur Mohabbat. The direction & the editing of this drama is absolutely on-fleek & probably the strength of this drama. All the actors have played their part really well. Sadia Khan has improved so much & for the first time through her expressions, I could read the storm that had overtaken Imaan’s entire being. Firdous Jamal as Molvi Aleemuddin is very impressive & convincing. Even though Abdullah made an appearance for a very few scenes, Humayun Ashraf’s performance was brilliant. He has surely made Abdullah’s character quite convincing. I will also add that I liked the acting of the girl playing the character of Nighat as well, her dialogue delivery seems very natural & realistic, so hats off. & last, but definitely not the least; Imran Abbas, like always was the star of this episode too but can someone please tell him not to wear Black Shalwar Kameez & not to drape a Black Shawl over it because he looks graceful & so very schmickkkkkk, Masha Allah! :) Please share your thoughts about this beautifulllll episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 11 Review – Well-Executed

This episode focused mainly on Noor’s state of mind and his struggles. Also, with this episode two new characters entered the lives of Zain and Mahi who feel attracted towards them and will be a regular part of their lives and the drama now. Mikael’s attraction towards Mahi was quite obvious from at least two scenes in tonight’s episode and the preview of the next episode showed that Mikael isn’t doing all this only for Noor. Kashmala’s track has done-to-death written all over it and it is surely disappointing watching someone attractive and talented like Hira Tareen playing another such character. It would however seem more “normal” watching Mahi and Zain both falling for someone at this point.

In this episode Noor questioned a lot of things which any child his age would wonder about. He wanted to know who his father was and wondered why he did not have a sir name just like all the other kids. Noor’s attempt to give himself a surname was absolutely heart-wrenching. Although his mother and many other people around him gave him so much love but like any other kid his age he is still looking for a father figure. Since Mikael is the only man who is so close to him therefore he looks up to him. Noor’s personality was translated well on screen today, I had no trouble connecting to the issues and questions he had. So far, Mikael comes across as a kind and intelligent person, I am definitely waiting to find out more about him. Aly Khan was the perfect choice for playing this role. Ayesha Khan’s effortless portrayal has also added more life to Mahi’s character.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 11 Review - Well-Executed

Hassan sahib’s conversation with Mahi was one which we had all been waiting for since most of the viewers were wondering what his “stance” was regarding Noor. Apparently, he feels guilty because he cannot do much for Noor or Mahi because of Arshi but even then Mahi appreciates his “silent” support for her. It would have been nice to see Hassan sahib visiting Noor and trying to stay in touch with him so that he wasn’t completely alienated from that side of his family. Mahi’s support system is one of the best parts of this drama. Sanam, Bubban mian and all the other people who make Mahi feel less burdened and make Noor feel like he is part of a family add something special to this track.

Zain’s state of mind was shown through the flashback scene, his get-up and the dialogues afterwards. Aisha Khan wore the same outfit in the flashback scene as she did on that day, that was a little odd! Zain has not moved on at all but at the same time he finds it impossible to accept Noor. The preview of the next episode suggested that Kashmala will take Zain up as a “challenge” and Mikael will reveal how he feels about Mahi.

This was another interesting episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai which covered all the aspects of Mahi, Zain and Noor’s life in an apt manner. After watching this episode I am quite certain that the viewers will get to see Noor’s struggles with even more clarity in the upcoming episodes. So far, this drama has a solid screenplay and all the actors are doing complete justice to their characters. It is good to see Imran Ashraf being versatile; his expressions and dialogue delivery fit the role he has been assigned.

How many of you watched this latest installment? Do share your thoughts about it.

Roundup 2016 – Pakistani Artists in Bollywood

0

Our neighboring country India produces the largest number of feature films every year in the world in various languages. Among these the Hindi language film industry is known as Bollywood.

Due to its similarity with Urdu, Hindi is also understood in Pakistan. Since partition of the sub continent in 1947 Bollywood films are also very popular in Pakistan and Bollywood stars also have huge fan following in our country. Even the tense situation on the political front and borders with India seldom impact this popularity and fan following of Bollywood.

Despite similar language, no Pakstani artist worked in any Bollywood film for almost 35 years after 1947. In 1980’s upon the encouragement of the than ruler the dictator General Ziaul Haq Pakistani artists such as Nadeem, Muhammad Ali and Zeba worked in a Bollywood film. The trend continued till mid 1990s and then working of Pakistani artist was halted. After a gap of seven eight years, after 2000-01 relations between Pakistan and India improved under another dictator General Parvez Musharaf. Since 2000-01 many Pakistani artist have crossed the border to work in Bollywood films.

The screening of Bollywood films was also allowed in Pakistan after 2007. Bollywood films earn huge in Pakistan and their revenue make almost 60 – 70% of the whole cinema business in Pakistan. This year very few Pakistani artists worked in Bollywood films, but like every year most of these films were not much successful. Apart from Fawad Khan none of the other artists succeeded in registering any notable success in Bollywood this year.

Here is a compilation of the Pakistani artists who acted in Bollywood films in 2016

Mawra Hocane
Mawra Hocane has worked in many television dramas before accepting an offer of Bollywood film Sanam Teri Kasam. It was the first Bollywood film of 2016 featuring a Pakistani artist. As per press reports, Mawra had a meaty role in this film as the solo heroine. The film is released in February 2016 and proved unsuccessful in Pakistan.

Fawad Afzal Khan
Fawad Afzal Khan the most famous Pakistani artist of recent times worked in two Bollywood films this year. He played a major role in one film, and a cameo role in the other.

Fawad’s first film was Kapoor & Sons released in March 2016. A major cricketing event ICC Cricket T20 World cup was also scheduled in the same month and usually such popular sporting event hurts the cinema business. However despite this hurdle Kapoor & Sons proved superhit in Pakistan. The film earned between 10 – 11 crore in Pakistan which is more than handsome figure on local box office.

Fawad’s character in this film was quite unconventional as he appeared in the role of a gay. But the tremendous success of this film in Pakistan proved that his character was well received by the cine goers. Apart from the cine goers the film reviewers of the English press also praised Fawad’s performance in the film.

Roundup 2016 - Pakistani Artists in Bollywood

After Kapoor and Sons, the second Bollywood film of Fawad in 2016 was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil due to release on 28th October 2016. As per press reports Fawad played a cameo role in this film. Due to political tensions between Pakistan and India, Indian film producers association announced a ban on the working of Pakistani artists in Bollywood films in early October. Following this step the Pakistani film distributors and exhibitors also announced a ban on the screening of Bollywood films. Due to this the film was not screened in Pakistan.

Moomal Sheikh & Javed Sheikh
The father and daughter Javed Sheikh and Moomal Sheikh also worked in a Bollywood film this year Happy Bhaag Jaye Gi (HBJG). HBJG was due to release in August 2016. The film was duly imported and promoted by the distributor but faced a last hour blockade by the film certification board. The film certification board has concerns over few scenes and dialogs of the film. Consequently the film was not released in Pakistan.

It was the first Bollywood film of Moomal Sheikh while Javed Sheikh has earlier worked in several Bollywood films.

Imran Abbas has worked few Bollywood films and also appeared in another one in 2016. He had a cameo appearance in the film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil due to release in October 2016. However due to the ban on the screening of Bollywood films the film was not released in Pakistan.

Roundup 2016 - Pakistani Artists in Bollywood

So in summary only three Bollywood films featuring a Pakistani artist were released this year in Pakistan namely Sanam Teri Kasam, Kapoor & Sons and Ishq Click. Apart from these only Kapoor & sons proved successful despite an unusual role from Fawad Afzal Khan.

As Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association has imposed a ban on casting any Pakistani artist in a new project so in coming future no Pakistani artist might be seen acting any Bollywood movie. However any such films completed before this ban will be released in 2017.

Yasra Rizvi’s Nikkah Pictures

This seems to be a wedding season for the celebrities, the recent one getting married is Yasra Rizvi who has been in acting for more than a decade and has some amazing performances to her credit. It is so good to see how genuine the whole ceremony is, with just close friends and family around making it a private affair. The Mehr is just Namaz-e-Fajr.

Here’s what Yasra said about the Mehr:

“Abdul Hadi has agreed on Namaz e Fajr as my Mehr. Umm Sulaym bint Milham is where I got my inspiration whereas most religious schools strictly believe it must be money or a financial asset as those are means of making an individual feel socially secure and rightly so because it is logical. And amidst extensive literature on the subject I found her and Abu Talhah’s embracing Islam is what she settled for as Mehr. It made me wonder how progressive was a woman centuries ago who understood what would make her truly secure.”

Which is the most impressive debut of the year 2016 in films in your point of view?
