Pakistan is predominantly a Muslim country but we have religious diversity too and the white in our flag represents the Pakistanis who are not Muslims but an equal an important part of the country. It is the festival of Diwali, the festival is filled with light and fireworks and it is being celebrated all over the world. Our Hindu community is also celebrating the festival of lights and on this occasion, many of our important faces and celebrities are wishing the Hindu community.

At a time when Anwar Maqsood’s Aangan Tehra is running at the Arts Council Auditorium for nearly a month now and plans to continue running for a couple of months, not many people would risk a theatrical venture to compete with the packed house of Aangan Tehra. But Lush’s Usama Qazi and Shahzad Qureshi were ready to take such a risk. They launched an original theatre play, 0092, which is about the pre-poll situation in Pakistan. It seems to be quite an appropriate time to come out with the play since we are expecting to have elections in the near future.

“This is the best time to stage 0092 because we want to wake-up our masses before the elections this year,” says Usama Qazi, the producer of the play. “As far as other plays are concerned, I believe that Karachi is so massive that if we have around 10 to 12 plays running at the same time in the city, people will come to watch all of those.”
Well, it seems like this play grabbed the attention of a lot of celebrities as a lot of them went to see this play. Pakistani industry has seen many cases where celebrities left the industry due to religion. Many stars also took that path and left dramas or music whatever they did for their careers. Late Junaid Jamshed is the biggest example who left music because of Islam. We also saw actors and actresses like Sara Chaudhary, Sanam Chaudhary and Noor Bukari taking this decision. Hamza Ali Abbasi distanced himself from dramas because of religion but he did not leave the industry and said that he will only do projects which did not clash with his beliefs. Feroze Khan also took this decision before reneging on it. The latest artist to join this list is singer Abdullah Qureshi.

Abdullah gave a statement to inform his fans of his decision as many were asking why he was absent.

Abdullah said that he will not be performing in concerts or doing advertisements but he will be available for awareness campaign on social media or any work that fall within the confines of religion.

Singer Natasha Baig did not agree with Abdullah’s comments and shared her take on his statement. She said that if people want to leave the industry it is their prerogative but they should not make others look like devils as music is divine:

The biggest award show of the year is just around the corner, and we can’t contain our excitement. While we all thought that Mahira Khan and Osman Khalid Butt would be hosting the Lux Style Awards 2017, all our dreams shattered as OKB announced that he is penning the script only. So, Pakistani diva Mahira Khan is all set to host the show, and this will be Mahira’s second time hosting a major award show.

Shoaib Mansoor is back with Verna and this time he has focused to raise the issue of rape. Rape is not something our society is foreign to. 25th December is a very special day for all Pakistanis because on this day Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the father of the nation came to this world. He did something which was very close to impossible. He won praises from all parts of the globe for achieving something which no other leader could have achieved. Stanley Wolpert who was a famous American author and is considered one of the best authorities on the history of the subcontinent and India and Pakistan wrote a book on Quaid-e-Azam titled “Jinnah Of Pakistan” in which he summed up what Quaid-eAzam achieved in these few lines,

“Few individuals significantly alter the course of history. Fewer still modify the map of the world. Hardly anyone can be credited with creating a nation-state. Muhammad Ali Jinnah did all three.”

Last year, on this day, Pakistan saw one of the biggest funerals in Karachi. It was due to the sad demise of Junaid Jamshed, once a pop icon and later a preacher who lost his life along with all other passengers as their plane crashed near Hawailian. This accident shook the whole country but life went on. Today as the year ends, people from all walks of life remember him. Celebrities also missed him and paid tributes to Junaid Jamshed as he had touched every life to some extent.

Aamir Liaquat Hussain will always remain one of the most famous hosts to grace the Pakistani television. He was a politician, host and a social worker. He is known to pick up the now famous Ramadan transmissions and worked with nearly all the major channels in his career. He had a life full of stories and remained one of the most covered celebrities in the country until he took his last breath.

His family has fought for him after he left this mortal world and his ex-wife Syeda Bushra Iqbal and children Ahmed and Dua have kept his memories alive. One year has gone by since Aamir Liaquat Hussain left this world and Syeda Bushra Iqbal shared a video from all his ex-colleagues as they shared their memories of him.

Pakistan is 75 years old now and throughout the history the country has gone through a lot of phases an changes. Social media is filled with statements from celebrities who are enraged after hearing this shocking news. The rate of honour killings is increasing with every passing year. Examples like these also give Pakistan a negative image in the international community. Celebrities feel threatened more than ever now because whenever a celebrity has asked for security from the government, the government has never given them the security they need and the end result is what happened to Qandeel today. Some people are even more shocked because an outsider did not kill Qandeel but it was her own brother who took her life. Qandeel Baloch has been trending on twitter, the world is talking about her because most people believe she was killed in cold blood. A lot of celebrities are holding the media responsible too.

Talha Talib is a Pakistani weightlifter and Olympian. He is the Pakistani national champion in the 62 kg category. He set a new record at the games in snatch as he lifted 132 kg in the third attempt with 127 kg and 130 kg in the first two attempts, respectively. He was also a gold medalist at the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Weightlifting Championships in Penang for lifting 258 kg. Talha Talib came fifth place in the heavy weight lifting in Olympics 2020 for which the government of Pakistan has also awarded him with the prize money.

Recently a group of fraudsters pretended as the personal staff of the federal minister and telephoned mountaineer Shahroz Kashif and Olympian Talha Talib, telling them the good news that the car had been gifted to them by the government. Fraudsters took Rs. 360,000 from Talha Talib in the name of car gift. While Shahroz Kashif’s father says that he was asked to deposit Rs. 285,000. Talha Talib’s father has lodged a complaint through the Prime Minister’s Citizen Portal while Shahroz Kashif’s father has contacted the FIA.

The news of fraud with Pakistani Olympian Talha Talib was shared on different Social Media portals. Pakistani celebrities felt disgusted after watching the national hero of Pakistan being a victim of such a fraud. Pakistan was going through a huge political turmoil with an alleged foreign conspiracy looming at large. All the eyes were on Pakistani institutions and the “vote of no confidence” that was to be held on 9th April to oust the now former Prime Minister of the country, Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi.

After a long wait, the final verdict on the panama case is out. A five-judge panel of Pakistan’s Supreme Court disqualified the thrice-elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from holding office over allegations of corruption against him and his family.
