The Indian media caught Ranbir Kapoor and Iman Ali spending a night out together when they were coming out of a private place. When the two stars found out that the media was outside they decided to go their different ways. The Indian media is buzzing with this news and people are wondering what these two actors were doing together. Are they working on a project? Are they friends? Or are they more than just friends?

Muqaddas – Episode 19-20

0

*SPOILER ALERT* I strongly advise those people who haven’t watched these episodes yet, not to read the review and spoil their fun since there were some major developments this week.

Muqaddas has exceeded our expectations once again. This well-written, well-executed play is still going strong and I hope it stays that way. A big shout out to team Muqaddas! These two episodes have given the viewers a lot to digest and discuss. :)

Aatir’s conversation with Ahmed over Skype hinted that Aatir doesn’t think too highly of his father. Last week as well, we saw Aatir wondering why Ahmed never talked to him about his biological mother. He misses her and dislikes his father for forgetting about her. Ahmed on the other hand adores his eldest son. Meri zindagi mein tum ek shaks ho jisse dekh kar jee uthta hun. Aatir didn’t even bother to tell him that he was getting married, but Ahmed was still excited to meet his daughter-in-law. So I got a good vibe from Ahmed but you never know! There’s this whole back story which we have yet to find out.

Fullscreen capture 792015 10232 AM

Muqaddas’s pregnancy was discussed again and again in these two episodes and it annoyed me because the same things were mentioned continuously. I so wanted the repetitive scenes to stop. The whole visit to the surgeon was, as expected, useless because even she couldn’t do anything for Muqaddas.

Kabir was on my suspect list once after his suspicious activities last week. His visit to Babar, all that mind boggling about who could have kidnapped Muqaddas and him finally informing Aatir that Babar was Zain ka khaas aadmi once again made me think that maybe he did not kidnap her. But I remember that when Nida informed him last week that Muqaddas’s kidnapper had been caught, he said that it was not possible at all. How did he know that? This week he sounded completely clueless about anything!

Fullscreen capture 792015 13155 AM

The big twist that was revealed in the 20th episode was kind of expected after we heard the word “badla” from Jahanzaib in the 19th episode. But the scene between Jahanzaib and Aatir was still the most thrilling one I have seen on Pakistani TV since a long time. Through a series of flashbacks, we were shown all those scenes from the previous episodes where Aatir shot everyone’s suggestions down, refused to go the police, that scene when the masked man raped Muqaddas and then finally the one from last week when the same man slapped Shaukat and then took off his mask, all preserved in Aatir’s devilish mind. I think that scene couldn’t be better! Noor Hassan absolutely nailed those expressions.

Congratulations all of my readers who had their doubts on the guy. Aatir successfully manipulated some of us.  ;) But now we know, that super caring husband never existed. He has gone to such lengths to make sure that Muqaddas suffers, and in turn, her family suffers. He has enjoyed every second of their suffering and acted like he was suffering along with them. It takes a huge grudge to do that. So with Jahanzaib finally conscious and ghayab from the hospital I do think Aatir had something to do with it. I could be wrong though. Maybe Jahanzaib is just trying to save himself from Aatir?

Muqaddas believes that her husband is a great person who loves her despite what happened to her and that’s why she feels guilty of hiding the pregnancy from him. I honestly abhor Aatir now, for putting her through this but that makes me all the more impatient to find out why he did this. What is the background story?

Fullscreen capture 792015 12641 AM

The makeup artists have done such a good job. All the ladies look gorgeous. Thumbs up guys!

Apparently the folks at Hum TV wanted us to suffer in suspense so they decided to show only two episodes this week. Not a good idea people!

Anyways, guys do tell how did you find these episodes?

Amjad Sabri Not Happy With The Pakistani Media

0

Like many other celebrities of Pakistan Amjad Sabri is also not happy with Pakistani media because he feels that Pakistani media always highlights the negative trends pertaining to a celebrity’s life instead of the positive ones. Amjad Sabri shared his feelings about this negative trend in the media when he was part of Maya Khan’s Ramadan Transmission.

1

Amjad Sabri said that he had taken legal action against all those involved in making the Qawwali “Bhar Do Jholi Meri” a part of Salman Khan’s latest Bollywood flick “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. This Qawwali was originally sung by Amjad Sabri’s father Maqbool Sabri along with Ghulam Farid therefore he feels that being his son his permission should have been taken before anyone decided to sing this Qawwali in a film. He also said that no credit was given to his father and he also did not like the changes which were made in the Qawwali to make it fit in the film.

23

Amjad Sabri said that the Indian media was highlighting this issue but the Pakistani media was only praising the Qawwali sung by Adnan Sami Khan and not talking about the legal technicalities involved. He said that the leading newspapers of India like Indian Times were contacting him day and night so that they could learn about the latest developments in the case but none of the Pakistani newspapers or channels had contacted him. Amjad Sabri said that the media should set its priorities straight and learn what they really should be focusing on. Maya Khan who is hosting the Ramadan transmission on TV One promised the Qawal that she will highlight this issue even if no one else was going to do it.

Mumkin – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, this episode was really interesting & now when the cat’s almost out of the bag now, I really hope this is their way of wrapping the drama up because if they don’t end it within next 2 – 3 episodes, that for sure would take the fun out of this great drama.

So, Waleed knew that he hit a jackpot the moment he witnessed Aziz & Mehreen spending some time together. Going by the smiles on their faces & their body language, it was so obvious that anyone could understand the comfort level between the two, that is why without giving a benefit of doubt to Aziz, Waleed planned to make the most of the situation.

To be honest, I knew that Waleed was quite a business minded & a practical person, but I never knew that he would be this much practical to literally blackmail someone into getting what he wanted. Waleed felt this was the perfect time to change things in his life because the way Natasha used to look down at him, really bothered him a lot & also, Natasha’s constant reminders about the family business belonging to Aziz also forced Waleed to do everything to own the business so that he could put a stop to Natasha’s taunts.

The showdown between Waleed & Aziz was interesting because the way Aziz stood up for his relation was good. He has said it a million times & he actually means that he doesn’t care about anything or anyone, anymore, that is why even when Waleed threatened him, Aziz didn’t stutter & told him to do anything he wanted because he wasn’t going to back off. Yes, it was kind of interesting to see Aziz agreeing to consider Waleed’s proposal but it was too late. Waleed had already spoken to Nageen & it didn’t take her a lot of time to put two & two together because she had already been sussing out on something & she needed some assurance to get straight to the conclusion. To be honest, seeing all these developments that too, so suddenly really made me happy because I knew that the story was now going somewhere.

Even though Mehreen has gone back to the phase where she has accepted Aziz as her husband, she still is keeping herself mentally prepared to part with him if the time arises because she knows, their reconciliation can create a lot of problems for not only Aziz but for Maira too, so even though she wants to be with her husband, she is tackling this whole situation with a lot of practicality & also this is the reason why she isn’t as mentally prepared to disclose the secret, as much as Aziz.

The showdown at Maira’s birthday gathering was done well. This is exactly what you can expect from a person like Nageen, she has always looked down at both Mehreen & Maira so now when she got a chance, without blaming her husband, she straight away jumped to conclusion that Mehreen is the real culprit. To be honest, as much as Aziz portrays to be a man of his word, the way he stammers & lets Nagreen overshadow him, shows that he still hasn’t mustered up enough courage to speak up in front of Nageen. It kind of shows that Aziz is intimidated by Nageen that is why even when Mehreen was being insulted, he didn’t step in to stop everything & to stop Nageen from accusing Mehreen so bluntly.

This episode for sure was interesting & it also gave us some special moments of Maira & Muneeb but to be honest, their track has been completely overshadowed by Mehreen & Aziz’s track because it seems more enticing now. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin.

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 17!

Ohkay, so, it was such an interesting episode because finally we got to the phase we all were waiting for. I am so glad that the younger lot has overtaken the story & now the main focus will be on them. I don’t mind the elderlies as well, but as far as they are at a back-seat, it’s all perfect. I am so glad with this transition because it opens a window for us to get to know more about the characters that are somewhat new to us & that makes me even more intrigued & engaged. :)

I really liked Faarah in this episode. She proved that even if she is submissive & even if she is innocent & polite, doesn’t mean she will accept everything that happens around her without questioning it. All her life she has heard how much her mother has hated Agha Jaan & the rest of Behroz’s family, so it was obviously a shocker for her to see Ruhina agreeing to be dependent on Agha Jaan for financial help. The questions she raised & the stance she put forth showed that she really has a high self-esteem. Till date Faarah saw how much Ruhina badmouthed Agha Jaan so to see her change all of a sudden made Faarah a bit more confused & embarrassed.

Like I said before, Ruhina doesn’t know how to take responsibility of what she does & she proved me right once again. Ruhina is so immune of blaming others that it didn’t even take her a second to put the whole blame on Faarah for the tiff she had with Behroz. Ruhina knows that she did it all out of her ego & Faarah was the last thing on her mind, but still, when the moment arose, she didn’t even think for a second about what Faarah might feel & how much she will dwell into self-detest if she’ll start considering herself as the reason behind her parents’ fight. Why was it so hard for Ruhina to face the reality now? What Faarah said & did was exactly what Ruhina taught her against Agha Jaan, so now when it backfired, why couldn’t she handle it? What was so difficult about the whole scenario that she couldn’t tell Faarah the real reason behind this deal with Agha Jaan & she took it to her heart? Was it done just for the sake of creating some drama so that she could make herself look like an even bigger victim in front of her daughter; Faarah?

The conversation between Ruhina & Agha Jaan once again highlighted the difference between their mentality & caliber. Ruhina looked like a shallow person who had nothing in her hand, except her ego & Agha Jaan accepted everything with so much grace that it showed he really is a bighearted person. Agha Jaan proved that he is a man of his word & that is why, no matter what Ruhina said, didn’t affect him at all because now when he has promised to do everything to bring his family back together, he surely is working on it with full fledged determination.

I liked Wali in this episode as well, but before saying anything about Wali, I will mention that he reminds me so much of Suhaib. Wali is just as responsible & focused as Suhaib was & now Wali is also facing more or less the similar situation that Suhaib faced in the initial stages of his marriage. It was so good to see Wali taking the responsibility without having anyone remind him about it. What I love about his character is his decisiveness & his determination. Even though Arjumand & Agha Jaan both didn’t want him to join the business yet, he went ahead with what he had planned for himself & his family. I also really like the fact that Wali takes it as his duty & responsibility to protect Agha Jaan, that is why while Agha Jaan was talking to Ruhina, Wali made sure that no one else interrupts, without even thinking that Tajjamul is Ruhina’s brother. The whole time Tajjamul sat there like he had no clue what was going on, actually made me laugh. He is the one who has insinuated all this & he chose to act all masoom as if he had no idea what was going through his sister’s mind. ;)

I loved Wali & Faarah’s interaction & meeting. Faarah is just going by what Ruhina has told her, but Wali is out to prove her & her mother wrong. Wali knows that Faarah was taken aback by what happened that is why he is ready to give her some time & space, which really makes him a thorough gentleman. He understands what Faarah must be going through, that is why without burdening her with the gravity of their relation, he just wanted her to befriend him, so that they can at least work on understanding each other first. It was good to see Zarmeenay in this episode as well but later what happened was actually really sweet. Wali has fallen for Faarah; his wife, that is why he is ready to be patient & doesn’t mind what she says because he knows she is just misapprehended for now & that can change, as in Wali for sure will make it change.

Oh boy! Moeez has no shame whatsoever, does he? He finally professed his feelings to his #married cousin? How decent is that? For Faarah, Moeez has always been a cousin & a friend that she knows she can rely on, that is why she is in a comfort zone when he is around, but Moeez really has gotten ahead with the idea, that is why he just cannot stand seeing Faarah with Wali but too bad, Wali is Faarah’s husband therefore, it is highly recommended for Moeez to find someone else because Jageerdaar Ka Beta is not going anywhere. If Moeez had so many questions about the financial help & the joint bank account stuff, why didn’t he bother asking his father first because it was his father bear who instigated this idea, therefore before burdening Faarah & telling her to go against everyone for him, he should get his facts straight.

So, all in all, it was an amazing episode. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I had a good laugh when Ruhina had an outburst because I needed it & oh, I must say there was so much emphasis on marna marana in this episode. Ruhina says ‘wo marna pasand karegi’ & even Faarah repeatedly said ‘wo bhi marna pasand karegi’ & in the end I heard Moeez saying the same thing too, so I really want to ask why this family is family so obsessed with the idea of ‘marna’? I loveee the subtlety in everyone’s expressions in this episode/drama. Wali understood why was Agha Jaan called to Lahore for the meeting, that is why he sat there & nodded in disbelief, which showed that he couldn’t imagine how low could his Tai Jee stoop. Similarly, Agha Jaan had a smirk on his face because he knew exactly what was happening but just the sense of him being able to help Faarah was so strong that he let go of what just happened & all the things that were said to him.

I must say the director really has brought out the best in all these actors because the way they are performing makes it all look so natural & real. A big shout out to Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt for their amazing on-screen chemistry & I am so glad they both acted really well in this episode. Sanam Saeed was good too but her shaky voice takes away the impact from most of her scenes. I must say, I really feel lucky to have gotten a chance to not only view but ‘review’ Diyar-e-Dil. :) Please share your thoughts on tonight’s episode.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: Just letting my awesome readers know that I am down with flu, fever & all that jazz, so just in case you find my replies short & robotic, please bear with me. I promise I will be fully active for the Good vs Bad; Ruhina vs Agha Jaan debates in the next review, Insha Allah. :)

Karb – Episode 10

0

This episode was packed, full of deceptions, lies and broken hearts. Hania surely doesn’t think twice before lying big. As if the divorce issue wasn’t enough, she has lied about her child as well. She just spoke out of malice but obviously in future, Hamza will think it was to keep his daughter away from them. I had really wished for Hania to open her eyes when she saw her mother celebrating Samra’s pregnancy. She even did for a moment but her mother is just too controlling, too convincing for Hania to use her own brain and Hamza was just.. typical Hamza. No patience, zero tolerance, his own version of right and wrong and no idea how to handle things in the heat of the moment. And though, she hadn’t been able to abort the baby, her in-laws shouldn’t have been surprised if she did, with the way she was so determined to. Till now, Ammo jan seemed just an over pampering mother but now we see that she has ulterior motives. She is actually taking revenge from her own daughter for preferring someone else over her mother’s opinion. Such a narcissist, I must say.

Samra is being a good bhabhi, even if a little selfish, and I had thought her intentions were good unless I saw the promo in which she is worried that Hania will stay with them all life. But it’s her brother who surprises me the most. Even if the father has no spine, atleast he can speak to his mom and sister, but apparently he is his father’s true copy in that sense.  Alia doesn’t seem to be upto much good. Although she is not shown bad, I somehow found her goody two shoes attitude irritating. If she has always lead such a clean life, why did she keep Hamza’s pictures with poetry on them. She didn’t even try to clarify once to Hania, rather she acted in front of Hamza as if Hania was making it all up. It might be just me but I don’t like this girl’s acting, not here and not in jugnoo. In the end, Hamza has seen his baby with Hania.. Looking forward to his reaction to all this, though I doubt being parents would change Hamza’s or Hania’s attitude. They are far too set in their ways..

“I don’t want to play the damsel in distress all the time” – Hareem Farooq

0

Hareem Farooq recently talked to Dawn News about her career and things that she likes and does not like to do. The actress who started her television career with drama serials like Mere Humdum Mere Dost and Mausam says that she does not like to play the bechari roles at all although she has done such characters but she tried her best to bring out a different side of these characters.

“I don’t want to play the damsel in distress all the time; I want to do something for the victimisation of women. That can be done by not showing rape in every other play or by exploiting saas bahu or mian biwi issues for ratings. It’s time that we should change the perception and make writers pen down roles that are not stereotyped or run-of-the-mill,” said the new sensation of Pakistani dramas.

3

Like many other Pakistani actresses Hareem was forced to play such roles nevertheless. About that Hareem says, “When someone offers me a role that requires me to cry, what can I say?…….Be it the character of the first wife in Doosri Biwi or the sharif behen in Mausam, I tried to do them as non-bechari way as I could. I feel that my ‘crying quota’ is complete. There are a few directors who believe in strong-willed women characters and Owais Khan is one of them. During one of his recent plays, he didn’t ask me to cry in every other scene but wanted me to show the victimisation as a way of struggle.”

Talking about the actresses from across the border Hareem said, “I always wanted to be Madhuri … what an actress, what a woman she is! In recent actresses, some of the scenes Deepika have done are sweet whereas Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut have done some really beautiful films in the past year. I admire off-beat actors like Irfaan Khan, Om Puri, Nana Patekar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Manoj Bajpai and Naseeruddin Shah who can eat any actor on screen alive with their powerful dialogue delivery and presence.”

2

Hareem Farooq also said that she is not in showbiz for money and she has big plans for the future. “When you become an actor, it doesn’t mean that you have killed your self-esteem and dignity. I am from an educated family with a good background; I want females to follow my lead and that’s my ultimate goal. I also want to take Pakistani talent to an international audience and that’s why I will be stepping into the world of film production with my business partner Imran Raza Kazmi (who also produced Siyaah) and Reham Khan (Mrs Imran Khan). Keep your fingers crossed!”

Komal Rizvi’s Selfie With Abdul Sattar Edhi Turns Controversial

0

Abdul Sattar Edhi has not been well lately and many of the celebrities have been visiting him. All of these celebrities took pictures with the renowned philanthropist in order to show their respect to him and to spread the word that he wasn’t well so people should pray for him. Komal Rizvi is also one of such celebrities who recently visited Abdul Sattar Edhi to inquire about his health and spend some time with him. Komal took a lot of pictures with Edhi sahib and his wife but one of these selfies in particular was severely criticized by people on facebook because while on one side Komal had a big smile, Edhi sahib looked like he was in pain.

1

People also said that this was the ‘”worst selfie ever” and if this was Komal’s own father she would not be smiling like this.

5 6

People said that Komal Rizvi’s “poses” were inappropriate for the occasion and this visit was just a cheap publicity stunt. Some people also said that clearly both Edhi sahib and his wife did not want to be in this picture, something that was evident from their expressions.

Komal Rizvi was not happy with these comments on social media, she shared her feelings with people and said that it was not like that at all. Edhi Sahib wanted to be in those pictures and his grandchildren too were very eager to get these pictures taken with her. They even asked her to put the pictures of facebook. She posted, ” Both Edhi Sahab and bilquis aapa seemed to be really enjoying my visit with my bhabi, nephew and niece… they didn’t want us to leave… but alas, we had to go.”

We never thought there would be a time when someone would have to justify a few selfies but sometimes things like these happen!

2. Sukhur in Mol: It’s been a month since this drama went on air and yes the location adds another feel alongside the journey of the newlywed Emaan and Shehriyaar. Lets see how it unfolds.

10

3. Muree in Pehchaan: A year back the writer of Talkhiyan captured a powerful story of three main characters: Laila, Kuku, and Mansoor. The cold weather totally reflected the feelings of the characters.

Mol- Episode 6

0

And I shall be telling this with a sigh that all good things must come to an end so our couple had to bid farewell to Sukkur! It’s such a pity because the distinct and calm aura of Sukkur was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of Karachi. Well, I have to say that I am really enjoying the way the story is moving along. I am pleased that the characters are not painted black or white and all the characters have their share of strengths and shortcomings.

Emaan was very much taken aback by what Sheheryaar had to reveal about his engagement because although she was aware of the rift between Sheheryaar and his parents, she didn’t have the faintest idea about Sheheryaar’s engagement. Emaan’s consternation made perfect sense to me because I think that despite Sheheryaar’s reassurances, deep down, she feels that she’s responsible for the strain between Sheheryaar and his parents, or perhaps she feels that she has become an obstacle in Sajal’s way to happiness. I think Sheheryaar should have told her about Sajal when they met in Sadhu Bela because that was the perfect time for him to be honest with Emaan and that conversation in particular was supposed to clear things up. I have to say that Naveen Waqar was brilliant today, and the way the colour drained from her face when Sheheryaar told him about Sajal was done exceptionally well!

I distinctly remember Sheheryaar mentioning his bachpan ki mangni to Imtiaz Sahab. Imtiaz Sahab and Emaan are very close so it’s a wonder why he chose not to tell her daughter about Sheheryaar’s engagement. Also, I didn’t get why Emaan’s mother was so surprised when Emaan told her that Sheheryaar was engaged to his cousin because didn’t Imtiaz Sahab already mention this to his wife in last week’s episode? I know, it’s a little confusing but I felt like pointing it out.

This episode explored a few facets to Sheheryaar’s character. This guy wants everything on his own terms, period. He can’t stand anyone challenging his way of life, be it his parents or his wife. Being possessive about your personal belongings is natural to some extent but Sheheryaar is a little too finicky about the things he owns and for some strange reason, I can actually understand and relate to him. Years of staying away from home, managing everything on his own and making all sorts of decisions, big or small, for himself, Sheheryaar has become a little too self-sufficient. The way Emaan is taking all this speaks volumes about her own character. Emaan is not dumb or overly submissive and I find her level-headed in her approach towards dealing with Sheheryaar at the moment because she can actually understand Sheheryaar’s nature and has been able to grasp that the ‘giving your partner some space’ dictum is what she needs to make this relationship work. I like the fact that Sheheryaar acknowledges and values the fact that Emaan respects his freedom but I just don’t want him to take her for granted and for a change, he should listen and respect her perspective and point of view as well.

Muhabbat ek besaakhta sa jazba hai, mujhay tou shayad iss ka matlab bhi nahe pata. In my earlier reviews, I remember putting forth the question: is Sheheryaar in love with Emaan? Yes, he developed a liking for Emaan and admired her for her intellect and honesty but not once did he claim that he loves her and this conversation in particular suggests that Sheheryaar is yet to sort out his feelings. Also, this conversation went to show the personality clash- Emaan is pretty firm in her faith in the idea of love but I doubt we can the same about Sheheryaar.

PicMonkey Collage

I like the bonding between Humayun and Muraad (I wish they’d chosen some other actor for playing Murad’s role) and I am pleased that they put their egos aside and finally made peace. I liked how Zareena urged Hajra to meet Sheheryaar. I get that Sajal is being kind to her Taayi and I found her ‘request’ genuine as well but at the same time, I can’t help wondering if she has some other plans. I am not sure if Sajal actually wants to move on because had that been the case, she wouldn’t have wanted Sheheryaar to come back because with him around, how would she ever be able to let go of her feelings for him? The way Sajal broke down after seeing Emaan for herself didn’t surprise me at all but I find myself cringing each time a girl on my TV screen compares her appearance with that of another.

Emaan should watch out for Hajra because she spells nothing but trouble! Hajra actually seemed kind and mature to me but the way she wasted no time in labeling Emaan as the culprit was very typical but insensitive of her. I get that she always pictured Sajal as her ideal bahu but she should give it a rest now. Some of her dialogues and gestures gave me a feeling that she doesn’t really want Sajal to move on or tie the knot. Maybe I’m wrong but her plan to bring her son back has something to do with the fact that she still believes that there’s hope for the two (Sheheryaar and Sajal) to get married. For this reason, I strongly support Sheheryaar’s decision to not to move in with his parents but at the same time, I think he should not be so hard on them and at least pay them a visit.

Emaan is taking a great deal of interest in her neighbor’s son and I don’t know if that has something to do with the upcoming developments. I appreciate the fact that Sheheryaar himself urged her to join a school in Karachi and I think the director of the school he was mentioning might have a significant role to play in the future episodes. And how can I forget to mention that Naveen Waqar looked stunning today <3. Emaan is a nayi naveli dulhan and she sure dresses like one! I hope they continue to take care of these details. Naml – Episode 12

0

So we have the 12th episode of Naml in our hands. Personally, I think it was on the slower side and most of it was concerned with the aftermath of Saadi’s abduction. Nonetheless, it had many new developments & revelations to offer.

****SPOILER ALERT****

Progress

Now that Saadi is missing, the main concern of the Yousufs and Ghazis are his whereabouts and well-being. Zumar being a strong woman has shown her strength and (as expected) did not resolve to cry hopelessly rather decided to track the incident. Faris has his own share of love for Saadi and offered to help Zumar, which she accepted reluctantly. Faris and Zumar make Baray Abba, his servant Sadaqat, Nudrat , Haneen and Sam to move to their house for safety reasons. Needless to say is that each family member is shocked and full of sorrow on this incident.

As expected, the CCTV footages of the hospital are tampered with the involvement of security and police. One bait, a thug named Niaz Baig was used for distracting from the right course, but Zumar with her cunning and Faris with his skills see to it.

Meanwhile, Saadi is kept safe and healthy (yet confined) in a hospital somewhere with Mary Angio on the watch. He recites Quran there and understands that he has done some mistakes due to which he needs to suffer here. He confesses in his mind that he should not have gone to meet Hashim and co. without telling anybody and that he has given the pen camera to someone not worthy. There is a young lady doctor who has soft corner for Saadi, hopefully she might be able to help him.

Haneen is frustrated and has shut herself up in her room. A dangerous development is that she is getting involved with Hashim as a consolation. She revisits the Shaikh again who teaches her to strive and make dua simultaneously.

The biggest blast came right at the end where we got to know who the witness was. It was Dr. Sarah Ghazi. Apparently she does not have courage to stand up and claim Saadi’s blood to the Kardaars.

Character Development

Zumar and Faris:

Zumar can be unreasonably stubborn sometimes but she has a brain and she knows how to use it. Instead of falling for Hashim’s bait she devised her own plan of action and is being successful up till now. It came as a relief when she decided to work along with Faris (knowing his ‘skill’ J ) and put aside her own animosity for her beloved nephew. Faris on the other hand is being the man-of-the-house for the Yousufs. Despite his crude ways, he loves Zumar and Saadi very much and is helping execute Zumar’s plans.

I loved the way both Zumar and Faris shut Hashim up when he tried to be a ‘bee jamalo’ again. I must say, their marriage was done at just the right time and now we see a deadly combination in these two.

Haneen Yousuf:

I had (and still have) a lot of hope from Haneen but she is going completely in the wrong direction. Her snide comments on Zumar are unreasonable, when she herself is doing nothing in her power to track her brother. We all know that there is a powerful clue in Saadi’s laptop so it got a bit frustrating when she refused to crack the code. Her crush towards Hashim is increasing day-by-day which is a sign of danger for the Yousufs. Ok, Hashim might be a prince charming, but at least you can use your own brain (girl you are a super genious!!) to smell something fishy. The memory of Saadi calling out ‘O, my two prison-mates’ was really touching, and might click something in her mind later. By the way I loved the term Quran Crazy :-D.

Hashim Kardaar:

This man is a smooth criminal. He really loves Saadi just as Firaun loved Hazrat Moosa (A.S) as a brother but has too much at stake to let him go. But he does have guilt in his heart, unlike Sheru (his looser of a brother) who is still envious of Saadi. I was impressed when Hashim quickly made a story to shake his secretary Haleema’s concerns. But he has to do some serious effort from hiding this all from his mother, who is a cunning witch herself.

The Witness

I confess, I totally did not expect Sarah to be the witness. Exactly how and why she came to that place is a mystery. It is a mark of her cowardice that despite liking Saadi and despite knowing that it was Hashim who got her husband murdered, she is not willing to do anything about it. It is really frustrating for us that despite having a concrete proof in the hands of someone we can trust, Saadi and his whole family are suffering. Why on earth did Saadi choose her to give the pen camera to? It could have been Zumar, she would have believed in Faris’s innocence too. Well, we know that it was a wrong choice but Saadi might have his own reasons.

It is also possible thought that Sarah does not have the pen camera. Saadi could have given it to Ahmar or someone else. Saadi recalled that he gave the pen camera to a ‘ghalat shakhs’. We all know Ahmar is no angel. It is also possible that it was left for Haneen. She does not use gadgets anymore, so Saadi might have thought she was a wrong choice.

What to Expect

The list of Kardaar family’s unpunished crimes is getting longer and longer. It is only a matter of time when this house of cards will fall. We can definitely expect something from Mary Angio, both she and Saadi can put two and two together for Aurangzeb’s murder. I have a feeling that Ahmar may play a vital role in #SavingSaadi.

All in all, the story is moving in a very engaging way and the readers cannot help to wait eagerly for the next installment.

I would give this episode a rating of 4 out of 5; please share your own take on it in the comments J

Shaista Lodhi’s Second Husband’s Identity Revealed

0

Shaista Lodhi informed her fans via twitter about her wedding few days ago but she did not feel the need to post the picture of her husband or even herself on her Nikkah. However, in this day and age it is very difficult to keep things secret. Things do get revealed some way. Same thing happened in this case too. A fan posted the picture of Shaista Lodhi with her new husband. Her son can also be seen in the background. The woman sitting on the right side looks like someone who is related to her husband.

s

It looks like this time Shaista Lodhi decided to have a low key ceremony with only close family by her side.

s2

The news is that Shaista Lodhi will be back on television very soon with her own show on one of the leading channels of Pakistan. She will still be residing permanently in Dubai but she will fly to Pakistan to record the show whenever needed.

Ishq Parast- Episode 21

Flashbacks, rona dhona, some more flashbacks, some more rona dhona, and that, folks, is what the latest installment was all about! And I can’t help mentioning that this week, the episode started at 10:20 p.m. but oh well, I have already given up on ARY so by now I should be familiar with the art of letting go, right?

I was able to sit through Arsala’s ‘rukhsati‘ and that, I tell you, is an achievement because with Khala crying hysterically and Rahat Fateh Ali’s ultra depressing alaap playing in the background, it took me everything to fight back the urge to switch off the TV and I am sure even the happiest person alive would have sunk into depression after watching that scene so those who actually made it through, Mubarak hoo!! On a very serious note, I strongly feel that our drama makers should give Ustaad Rahat and his voice a rest because the overplaying of his saregamapa does absolutely nothing to save the day!!

As much as I hate to say this but the last few episodes have convinced me of the fact that Zohaib doesn’t really care about his sister because had he been sincere, he wouldn’t have let her go. I think by now it’s no secret to Zohaib that Hamza can go to any lengths to destroy Dua and everyone attached to her and Zohaib is also perfectly aware of what Hamza is capable of doing and yet, he is okay with the idea of Arsala living all alone with no one but a rapist by her side? In the initial episodes, I was in awe of the relationship this rare pair of siblings share but now, with 21 episodes down, I hate to admit that I was wrong, wrong, wrong! I get that Zohaib is not in the right state of mind, he feels cheated, helpless, hopeless but I think it’s a high time he took charge of the situation because at this point, being the man of the house (really???) he needs to extend his support to Dua, Arsala and Khaala.

ishqq

And it is with a heavy heart that I announce how this episode marked the end of Pasha Sahab’s character. As if the writer hadn’t given us enough reasons to despise Hamza, he is now responsible for Pasha Sahab’s heart attack too! Hamza doesn’t cease to disgust me and the latest developments have already been so disturbing- I am sure we could have done without a death! Aside from Zohaib, Pasha Sahab was the only person who knew about Hamza and with him around, Dua at least had someone to fall back on but the writer has left no stones unturned to present Dua as the mazloom-tareeeeen female character. Dua- once a headstrong and confident girl is now a rape victim and to exacerbate matters, yateem too!

To speak the truth, Hamza’s dialogues on ishq, junoon and what not are actually ticking me off big time because I think after 21 episodes, we now have a clear idea as to what kind of a person Hamza is- his sick mentality, his twisted sense of ‘ishq‘, his heinous motives, so do we really need the constant reminders? Nope!

So we are done with the first death of the show! Who’s next? Khaala? The note at which the episode ended gives me a strong feeling that it’s her turn to join Pasha Sahab, let’s seee…

Jugnoo – Episode 12!

Oh wow! I wasn’t expecting this episode of Jugnoo to be that good. They have certainly taken the story forward & have made it interesting tenfold. I thoroughly enjoyed all the events that took place in the episode tonight because they kept the pace perfect & made it a lot happening as well.

First & foremost, I must commend the writer for giving us such a female character who can haunt a man of Baba Sahab’s stature in his dreams, haha. I loved that whole dream sequence where Baba Sahab feels terrified of Jugnoo even in his sleep, how cool is that & more than that, how rarely does it happen in our dramas right, where we get to see such girls who give tough time to all the strong men in their lives? I love Jugnoo’s character for the fact that everyone knows this girl means business & she is someone not easy to be messed with, so I give full credit to the writer for etching out Jugnoo’s character with so much perfection. She is level-headed, strong-hearted & has so much of self-esteem that no matter what happens, she deems it not worthy enough to pay heed to it because she is focused on getting what she wants & that is; her life with her husband, Zulfi back.

Even though Dr. Saadi, with his cunning plan didn’t leave a very good impression, but the way he dwelled into a deep thought after he heard Zulfi confess how he was the one who ruined everything in Jugnoo’s life to be with her actually showed, that Dr. Saadi upon getting aware of both the sides of the picture might actually help both Zulfi & Jugnoo in getting back together. Dr. Saadi just gave away the plan because he assumed that Jugnoo was at fault & he did right in a way that he wanted to help his friend Tanveer & also because the way Jugnoo was bothering him at the hospital, made him believe in Tanveer’s side of the story a bit more, but I am glad that he also got to hear what Zulfi had to say because in that case, he will be able to salvage their marriage in my opinion & given how he was eyeing Ghazala, he will have all the more reason to swoop in to prevent Zulfi from getting married to her.

The instant connection both Ghazala & Saadi formed was done really very nicely. Ghazala never actually opened up so much & that is because Zulfi never gave her an edge to do that. All this while, I mistook Ghazala as a very submissive person who had no thought process of her own & wanted to become Baba Sahab’s Bahu because she saw the sort of a luxurious life her elder sister Ayesha leads but this episode made me change my mind about her because Ghazala is more than that. She is intelligent, she is friendly & yes, she is definitely someone who is in touch with her emotional side. She only was looking for someone reliable & easy to communicate with, someone charming enough to make her laugh & engage her in a conversation because just when Dr. Saadi did all of that, she started comparing both Zulfi & Saadi right away & that’s when she understood that Zulfi is not the one for her because he is too weak, & oh by the way, I loved it when she said that about Zulfi, he actually is really weak & it was good to see someone verifying it.

At least, good to know that Zulfi holds himself responsible for putting Jugnoo through so much pain & for ruining her life but then again that is just not enough, right? All he has done is sitting on his bed crying his eyes out instead of contacting Jugnoo’s mother to know what & how did it all happen actually? Even though I agree with his way of dealing with the depression by locking himself up for sometime, I don’t agree with his approach of not trying to get to the core of the matter & just giving up so easily.

Once again, we got to see Lawyer Aunty coming to Jugnoo’s rescue & I smile every time I see them both together. She is one determined lady like Jugnoo & she knows that Jugnoo needs someone’s support because she is fighting a very big battle all by herself, that is why, out of sheer courtesy & as a token of support, she tries to help her out as many a times Jugnoo needs it & I love this whole scenario of empowerment to be honest because that’s another rarity that’s being catered in this drama after a long, long time or maybe for the first time in so many years. Also, for the first time we got to see Jahangir worrying about Jugnoo & that was a treat in its own. Like I said in one of my reviews, Jahangir has a love-hate relationship with Jugnoo, she might not show it, but deep down she always feels just as concerned about Jugnoo as her own mother; Shahjahan, which is actually something really sweet.

To be honest, I now am curious to find out who Baba Sahab’s ~*darling*~ is. :) I really hope she makes it to the screen too because she really has Baba Sahab wrapped around her finger, so I am sure she must be someone really special, haha. :) Overall, it was a very very interesting episode that kept me engaged throughout. I am glad that Jugnoo has finally made it to Murree & now she will give Baba Sahab & Tanveer a run for their money. I must say, I am so happy that a part of this drama has been shot in Murree because having spent 6 years of my childhood there, it brings back a lot of pleasant memories & the best part is that I even recognize the roadside fences & the buildings in the background. <3

Please share your thoughts about tonight’s episode of Jugnoo & oh by the way, the preview was absolutely hilarious. I am so glad that just when Ghazala will be having second thoughts about getting married to Zulfi, Jugnoo will show up with her infamous knife & will make her vow to leave Zulfi alone. So good to see our heroine acting like a hero in this drama & carrying a burden on her shoulders all by herself haha. Let me know how much did you guys enjoy this episode of Jugnoo. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai – Episode 18

What an episode! It was spot on right from the get-go. The opening scene was the perfect start to another flawless episode. It is amazing how all these characters can read each other’s minds because they have been nothing but sincere to each other till now and also because of the connection they share. Madiha could tell that Daa Ji had done something he was ashamed of and she knew exactly why he did it. It was good to see Daa Ji sharing exactly what was going through his mind when he made that phone call. Whatever Madiha said to Daa Ji and what Daa Ji said to Yousuf clearly showed that Daa Ji did not make that phone call because he wanted Yousuf out of this turmoil but he wanted Madiha to get her happy ending. Zulekha was married now and this was the perfect time for Yousuf to see how much Madiha loved her. It was great to see Madiha speaking her heart out when she told Daa Ji that she knew exactly what he had done and why he had done it but she did not want all of this. This first scene set the stage for what was coming ahead and I must say that this had to be one of my most favorite episodes of this play. Daa Ji’s confession was totally in line with his character and one cannot blame Yousuf for reacting the way he reacted.

Watching Noor Muhammad taking his naye naveli dulhan to cinema did not come as a surprise at all since we already know the man has shocking double standards. He is pampering his new wife and playing a second fiddle to her gladly and Bushra is going to make sure that Noor Muhammad stays away from Phupo! Phupo has to be the real loser in this whole game till now; she has a bahu who she cannot control, her son does not listen to her any more and Bushra wants nothing to do with her. Noor Muhammad is getting exactly what he deserved. Wali Muhammad has proved that his mother’s upbringing didn’t go to waste after all. He finally realized how he had helped his father do something very wrong and in order to undo the damage he did exactly what needed to be done. Wali knows that Bushra won’t stay with Noor Muhammad for long if he did not have all this money. It was an absolute pleasure to see Noor Muhammad getting the shock of his life and I am waiting to see how Afia Begum deals with him once he goes to see her.

Like every other episode of MNYH this one too had many power packed scenes to its credit and some mind blowing dialogues but I must say that Zulekha’s determination, her dialogues and the way Maya Ali translated this character on screen had to be the highlight of this episode. Even when Afia Begum tells Zulekha that she had no choice but to spend the rest of her life with her husband she made it very clear that she was not going to live her life based on that dictum that aurat is a daak ka lifafa! We have finally come to the point where Zulekha’s character has shaped up in a way which is very refreshing and inspiring. There are times when Afia Begum loses hope for obvious reasons but it is plain to see that Zulekha knows exactly what she wants now and she is not going to accept things the way they are. She does not feel duty bound to live in the house and according to the rules of a man who could not even stay loyal to his wife. We also got to see in this episode why Imran Mughees had a change of heart. Zulekha showed him the other side of the picture and since he is not as blinded by malice as his mother therefore he was able to see what was going on.

11694123_10206394989529309_19435368_n

It was also very nice to see a man’s perspective on being controlled. Imran Mughees’ response to his mother when she tells him “aik choro dus mil jayen gi” made me feel for him for the first time. He has also been controlled by his mother all his life just as much as Zulekha was controlled by her father.

MNYH never fails to impress, everything about this play is perfect; the characters, the direction and the performances. The fact that there is no ambiguity ever regarding the motives of the characters and everything is crystal clear yet the story has depth sets this drama apart from others and makes it a treat to watch. The way different tracks are gradually wrapping up indicates that we will get to see a very decent ending.

The preview of the next episode showed Yousuf proposing Madiha – which for me was shocking but I have complete faith in Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, I am sure that there will be a very good reason for that.

Honestly speaking this drama deserves all the praise in the world and more. It contains some very strong messages but is thoroughly entertaining at the same time. The performances are always up-to-the-mark, in fact there have been times when some of the actors have outdone themselves in this play. I can’t thank MNYH team enough for giving us one of the best plays of this season.

Don’t forget to share your thoughts about this drama:)

Muqaddas- Episode 16-18

0

What I absolutely love about Muqaddas is that all the characters are well-etched out. They all fit in, and they all have a reason for being in the story. Muqaddas has no unnecessary tracks involved.

Akbar always has a plan. It’s surprising how quickly he cooks up the best solution to any of Ruhi’s problems. This time, the problem was Muqaddas’s stubbornness. She wasn’t ready to return to the house until Aatir brought her kidnappers to justice and Ruhi thought that the only way to kick Muqaddas out of Aatir’s life was to first bring her back. The plan was almost perfect. Using a patsy to make Muqaddas think that her kidnapper had been caught.

Fullscreen capture 722015 22823 AM

Aatir wasn’t too sure of the plan until he heard Muqaddas talking to Jahanzaib (her father) about how she was afraid of going back to the house from which she had been kidnapped and requesting him to wake up and convince Aatir to stop trying to take her back. Aatir figured that the only way to change his wife’s mind was to follow Akbar’s plan. The patsy was arranged by Zain and as expected, it was Babar.

Babar and Irum’s relationship was on the rocks after Babar refused to tell Irum exactly what he did for Zain, i.e, scaring Muqaddas at night (that too in her own room). Her constant requests didn’t make him spit it out and so, she tried a dhamki. If Babar wasn’t going to tell her the truth, would Zain do it? Or would Aatir do it? Unfortunately this dhamki made Babar think he had to stop her by all means. He was too afraid of Zain to let Irum inform any part of the truth to Aatir. Thus, he locked her in a room. Poor Irum wasn’t expecting such a response from the man she loved!

It was only after Zain’s second visit, however, that Babar realized what trap he was walking into. What if the police actually imprisoned him? He’d have no way of saving himself. But refusing Zain on his face was not something Babar could do (Zain had even offered him safe haven in Dubai). When Zain left, he let Irum out of the room. Now no woman would ever forgive a person who locked her in a room for a whole day (even if he ordered pizza for her) but for Irum, Babar is her whole world. She loves him a lot and that’s why Babar’s apologies were easily accepted by her. Babar also knows that Irum is the only sincere person in his life, so he could only discuss such a matter with her. He told her exactly what he had done, and what Zain wanted him to do. He decided that Zain needed him, and him and Irum needed each other. He would take Irum with him to Dubai and in case Zain actually let the police catch him, he would tell everything to Aatir. That was his backup plan.

While all of this was being planned, something unexpected and very interesting happened. As we already know that Muqaddas did not see her molester. She only saw the maid, but she did hear the voice of a man who called himself “hukum ka ghulam“. When the kidnappers drove her to Aatir’s house, she noticed a band and chain on that man’s wrist. So during the drive from the hospital, Muqaddas recognizing that man at the signal was believable but the way she screamed “Yeh wohi aadmi hai” was……not so believable. She did the same thing when she saw the maid at the hospital a few episodes ago and the maid ran. The man (whose name has been revealed to the viewers as Shaukat) did the same thing and drove away at fast speed. The whole chasing scene was remarkable. It was thrilling and I really enjoyed watching it, so kudos to the director and the actors who were involved.

Fullscreen capture 722015 30246 AM

When Muqaddas and Muhib came home and Tehreem got to know of this, her reaction was anger. However, she soon thought of the situation Muqaddas was in. She is expecting and before anyone got to know of this, something had to be done. Unfortunately, according to Ainee, the case is “complicated” and terminating the pregnancy will put Muqaddas’s life in danger and so she put forward the suggestion of sending Muqaddas back to Aatir’s house. Woh apne bacche ko Aatir ka hi samjhe. I felt sorry for Tehreem that not only did she have to send her sister back to the house before the kidnappers had been caught, but Muqaddas got the wrong idea. She thought Tehreem only made her go back so she could go back to Zameer’s house.

9420ddda541a78b6e605c66a0d972881

And then came my second favourite scene from this week. We got to see our masked perpetrator once again. After what he did to Muqaddas, I cannot wait for him to be revealed and get punished  and that too very severely.

imran-abbas-naqvi  I must say that the scenes between Muqaddas and Aatir post-return with the OST playing in the back ground were nicely done. I am totally in love with the lyrics and Shuja Haider has done a great job! As one of the readers also mentioned, the OST itself is a clear message. I think has been written from the perspective of the masked man and tells the tale of his obsession with Muqaddas.

So the day of the showdown between Muqaddas and her (fake) kidnapper came and on the very same day, Muqaddas found a gun, yes, a gun in Aatir’s drawer. I was surprised that she didn’t ask him about it. Khair, that weapon (almost) came in handy when Muqaddas saw Babar. When she recognized Babar because of his eyes, I screamed “I knew it!” because it is very easy to remember a person with coloured eyes.

11156143_677440682361605_8529441334599224856_n    However, Muqaddas’s reaction seemed unusual to Aatir and that’s why he didn’t let Babar go. After giving it some thought he figured out why Muqaddas was so violent towards the man who wasn’t even her real kidnapper. He understood that Zain had to be involved in the second kidnapping attempt. Zain was in deep trouble but this trouble could have came earlier if Kabir had came forward with his info. What kept him quite for all these days? His reaction after Nida told him that Muqaddas’s kidnapper had been caught was weird too.  Kabir’s getting on my suspect list again and as I have mentioned before, the OST points towards a man who is very much obsessed with Muqaddas. Kabir sounds good to be the kidnapper but that would be predictable, won’t it? I would love for the kidnapper to be someone we least expect to be.

Even though Muqaddas was still adamant on finding the other kidnappers (Shaukat and the maid) she realized that Aatir is sincerely trying to find them. She apologized to him for being stubborn and was excited to be his bride again. Her happiness didn’t last long and that very night she realized that she was pregnant. The valima ceremony was spoiled for her already and Jia only made it worse with her taunts. As if Ruhi wasn’t enough for them! There was only one way to make the ceremony worse, and voila, the fainting did the trick.

72d61660ea1acfe5bbd8023e0b7ab98b

Shaukat’s mother-in-law had to save her daughter from her husband’s tyranny. She decided she would no longer let Shaukat mistreat her daughter and will not hide his crime. Paying a visit to Aatir’s house was a great idea but the timing was terrible. Since everybody except Akbar was at the ceremony at the time, he got to know the whole story. Let’s see what plan he will cook up now.

These three episodes were more than enjoyable. I love the way the story is unfolding. Thank you Adeel Razzak for writing such an interesting drama and thank you Ali Masud Saeed for directing it so well. All the actors connected to the project have done a splendid job. Especially Iqra Aziz has surprised me with her natural acting skills since she is a new comer.

Khuda Dekh Raha Hai – The End!

Ohkay so, this episode marked the ending of Khuda Dekh Raha Hai. All of a sudden I feel that the last couple of episodes took us back to the note at which the drama began because they were well directed, well executed & well-written. All the things the characters said in these last two episodes were realistic & made a lot more sense & again, it made me feel that they all went back to what they used to be.

Finally, Khalida realized her mistakes & asked for forgiveness. As much as I was happy to see her being apologetic, what made me feel a lot better was that even though Akhtar might’ve forgiven her for her disloyalty towards him, he chose not to forgive her for what she did to Zoya & I feel this is exactly what she deserved. At least, she tried to compensate & cut down the burden she had by giving Zoya a free hand at shaping up her life whichever way she wanted & that was something good to see.

I found it appeasing that each & every member of Zoya’s family treated her with love, care, attention & most importantly restored their faith in her because this is exactly what she wanted after going through such a rough phase in her life. I have always liked Zoya’s character because, like I used to say, I found her logical & this trait of hers was absolutely admirable, so for that, I was glad to see her moving on pretty quickly because even though she tried really hard, she couldn’t bring herself to form a connection with Adnan, so it was imperative that it didn’t take her very long to rekindle the feelings for Junaid that she had been trying to prevent from surfacing.

Even though we didn’t get to see Sana a lot in this drama, I found her character good too. She was dignified enough to walk away from something that she knew wasn’t meant to be for her, but just as much as a high opinion I have of her, I wish I could say that about Junaid too because what he did was very disappointing. I really didn’t like Junaid’s approach in this whole scenario because even if I forgive him for using Sana as a stepping stone, what I won’t forgive him for, is the inconsideration he showed by asking Sana to back out from this wedding all by herself? If he would’ve been a gentleman, instead of asking Sana to do the honors, he would’ve taken the responsibility & should have apologized for being unfaithful to her because he couldn’t bring himself to love her. Sana not only helped him in getting back on track with his career, she actually invested a lot of money in him, but Junaid didn’t have the decency to at least be courteous towards her & just because he was so immune of being at the receiving end, he once again expected her to take the bullet & let the whole world know that she was the one who didn’t want to get married to Junaid.

The ending scenes were done nicely for sure, but as much as my eyesight helped me, I could clearly see the difference between the personalities of Zoya & Sana, so how was it possible that being just a couple of meters away, Junaid couldn’t reckon that it wasn’t Sana who was sitting on the bed? Anyways, Zoya & Junaid got back together & happy times are rolling in, finally!

I really feel that the team of Khuda Dekh Raha Hai partially redeemed itself by giving us a better ending, but I still wouldn’t forget mentioning that if they had cut down on the negativity by say at least 50%, this would’ve been a much better drama & I would’ve recommended it to a lot of people. I feel Khuda Dekh Raha Hai had a great & rocking start, but the whole divorce drama really sucked the positivity out of it that even if I try to remember it in good words, it won’t be possible. I really believe when the writers know that they would literally have to destroy the story & also the characters to reach to the 20 episode mark, I think they should back out & shouldn’t follow the demand of the channel to drag a drama. I can’t begin to imagine how good this drama would’ve been if it had 16 episodes because then they wouldn’t have only achieved their purpose, they would’ve made the viewers happy too.

All the actors enacted their characters aptly. It was good to see Agha Ali playing a decent role after a long, long time & he seemed pretty comfortable in Junaid’s role, so he should pay heed to it & opt for more such easy going characters in the future too. It’s a no secret that Sajjal Ali can convey the emotions very strongly, but I feel she should stop opting such heavy roles & should try out something different, something lively, where she is not someone’s wife & she doesn’t end up being a divorcee. As much as I liked Zoya’s character & as much as I would give Sajjal Ali the credit for acting it properly, I still would say that I do not condone the chumminess & the unreasonable contact with her co-stars that she tends to agree to in every other drama just because it happens to be the demand of the script. I really feel, she has lost a way & she needs guidance. My sincere advice to Sajjal Ali is that she should definitely do some self-policing before accepting such bold scripts left, right & center because she has proved herself as an actor, it’s a high time she gives us something good & decent to remember her by.

Please share your thoughts about the whole journey of Khuda Dekh Raha Hai.

Shah (شاہ) is an upcoming film scheduled to release on 14th August 2015. “SHAH” is based on the incredible true story of Olympian Boxer Syed Hussain Shah. In the past Layari was known for its boxers and footballers but in recent times its name is associated with crime and gang wars. Ethnic Baloch form the majority in Layari and it is the only stronghold of Pakistani Peoples Party in the city of Karachi.

From a homeless child who slept on a footpath in Karachi to Olympic glory – Hussain Shah became the only Pakistani in history and the first South Asian to win a Bronze Medal in Olympics Boxing at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games. Traditionally Hockey has been the main sports for Pakistan in the Olympics, however in 1988 Pakistani Hockey team presented below average performance and failed to qualify for the semi final securing fifth position overall. In 1988, Syed Hussain Shah emerged as a surprise winner when Hockey team failed to meet the expectations.

Karb – Episode 7 – 9

0

This drama is moving forward in a very engaging way and now I actually look forward to see what’s going to happen in the upcoming episodes.

In these previous three episodes, Hania has gone from the bubbly, love struck girl to a very negative, quarrelsome and unsure wife, and she is not to be blamed for all this alone. Hamza tried from the start of marriage to stay dominant and authoritative and was not able to convince her effectively to adopt his family values. Rather, he tried to keep a firm hand and insisted on seeing his wife as a similar version of his wife and elder sister which was met with utmost resistance from the egoistical Hania. Most of her guidance is coming from Ammo jan, who at the moment is least bothered about her daughter’s future or happiness, except to score points by proving how right she was by opposing Hania’s and Hamza’s match.

Hamza’s mother is also not of much good use. Though her heart is in the right place, she is not able to have a firm dialogue with her son that would effect his psyche and attitude with Hania. In this last episode, Fahad (Behroz Sabzwari) is shown to try and talk with Hamza and that might be fruitful because he seems to have a deeper insight into the problem than the women of any family.

In 8th episode, we saw Hamza hitting Hania when she accused Alia. That left me in really bad taste about Hamza. For all of Hania’s shortcomings, she surely did not deserve to be slapped like that. If he was so concerned that she is embarrassing Alia, there were many other ways of confrontation rather than hitting your wife and then going out to party.

A major development that soon followed was the news of Hania’s pregnancy. It was received very well by Hamza’s family and even he himself came to apologise, though it still doesn’t justify his behaviour. But now it’s Hania who is totally on the wrong footing. On her Ammo’s advice, she is hell bent on aborting her baby and so receiving Hamza’s wrath, though deservingly this time. How could she not think of her baby as more than a liability, an unwanted responsibility and a way to insult Hamza on his resources, and her mother seems even more cruel, provoking her daughter to have an abortion without any solid reason. But Hamza’s way of dealing with all this is still wrong. He should sit down and talk some sense into her, no matter how hard it gets for him. He should know better than locking and restricting her going out. Predictably, all this is increasing her determination to get rid of the baby in order to re gain some control and freedom in her life.

It is very hard to decide who is worse or more wrong between these two husband and wife and this is why it’s a very lifelike situation. This is exactly how relations are broken in reality too, by feeding your own negativities and egos, rather than stating and sorting the problems clearly and patiently. Very excited to know how Hamza deals with this new lie of Hania that he has divorced her and how Hania bears the burden of this sin of hers.

Mumkin – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, this episode of Mumkin was quite interesting & amusing at the same time. Interesting because the cat’s almost out of the bag now & amusing because of some directional glitches.

Well, I think no one taught Mr. Kamran the courtesy one has to abide by while visiting the house of a single lady who is your prospective wife, because if someone would’ve taught him the basics, he wouldn’t have just barged into Mehreen’s home so casually even if the door was open, as if he was visiting a hotel. The bickering between Kamran & Aziz was the most amusing thing about this episode because to see two suited, booted gentlemen in their late 40’s or early 50’s fighting over a woman was kind of awkward. Aziz has let Mehreen know that he is not going to bother about anyone & nothing can stop him anymore. He wants to be with Mehreen & more than that, he wants to be a father to Maira, the bond she has never been familiar with. I really thought Kamran would leave, but the way he chose to stay & chose to get insulted was also amusing. He goes like ‘appki beti aur damaad mujhe *pasand* kar ke gaye hain aur app meri hone wali biwi hain’, it really showed that he was in a hurry to get married too but sadly ‘dil ke armaan, anso’on mai beh gaye’.

I am glad that Raafia came at the right time too because if she wouldn’t have come, the drama would’ve dragged a bit more & it was about time that at least one of Mehreen’s peers found out about her relation with Aziz. Raafia’s only purpose of life for now is to see her best friend getting settled & now when she got to know about Aziz, she looked relieved because most of her work was done & all there was left for her to do was convince Mehreen of letting Maira know about Aziz too.

Natasha, is being unreasonable. She hasn’t given Waleed a chance to form a normal & a healthy relationship with her, so why does she expect him to go out of the way for her whereas her only priority has only been her mother & her father? Waleed nowhere is Natasha’s priority & just because he is working with a female colleague means he is interested in her? I really think Natasha’s character has been spoiled because now there’s nothing much her character can offer anyways, so, just to give her some screen time, she is made to do all this because it doesn’t really make much sense at all.

Another amusing scene of this episode was that it was Aziz himself, who was preaching Waleed about loyalty & honesty & attaining Natasha’s trust because she feels a little insecure & later he had to get busted by Waleed who caught him red-handed, dating Mehreen out in the open, ha-ha! Even though I am glad that the secret has pretty much unraveled, but the way Mehreen adorned herself & all those close ups & Raafia’s suggestion of wearing a ‘red’ dress for her date were the things that were kind of awkward to be honest. Yes, I do agree that they have kept it all very subtle & realistic & there is still something nice about it but I can’t curb the awkwardness as well. Overall, I have a mixed up feeling about the romance that is going on between Mehreen/Aziz but yes, I am glad that they are still shown as a husband & wife so that makes it decent for sure.

I really like how Maira always has a scene or two with her mother-in-law because there’s something very special about their conversations. I am so glad to see a MIL & a DIL sharing a healthy relationship because that’s a rarity these days in our dramas. Overall, it was a very decent episode with a few giggles-provoking scenes, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mumkin. :)

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode because it was intense & finally it didn’t have much rona dhona that we were experiencing since the previous few episodes. I am glad that the things are finally starting to shape up & the story is seamlessly moving into second & final phase.

Well, Ruhina is someone who can never be happy & that’s a done deal. 20 years of Behroz’s love couldn’t turn her into a contented & thankful person & that is the reason why her irrationality doesn’t shock me anymore. Yes, she did love Behroz but looks like he has also become one of those people, Ruhina has a lot of complaints with. Her husband has died & yes, she is grieving & mourning, but still, that doesn’t stop her from blaming him for ruining her & Faarah’s life? What a perfect way of remembering your husband who forsook his family for you! I have always blamed Behroz for being unreasonable & for never sharing his feelings with Ruhina, but now as I get to see her reactions, the more I believe that nothing in her would’ve changed even if Behroz had done all of that. I did hold Behroz accountable for how he was unfair to Ruhina but now it looks like Ruhina was just the same throughout her life & that is why just a few weeks of Behroz’s absence from her life made her turn against him as well. She’s a miserable soul & nothing can undo that. I am glad that Ruhina chose to share her feelings with Tajjamul about how Agha Jaan didn’t bother contacting her & Faarah after she came back, because later when he did, Tajjamul himself was present & got to witness how eager Agha Jaan was to earn Ruhina’s apology.

Due to Wali’s attempts at diverting Agha Jaan’s mind, he pretty much understood that something must’ve happened & Ruhina must’ve said something because of which Wali was trying to maintain a distance between both of them. Agha Jaan chose to inquire about the situation & Behram told him the truth, which was hard for him to grasp but he did blame himself for all the repercussions & that makes him even a bigger person because he is not turning away from the reality anymore. The meeting of Ruhina & Agha Jaan was absolutely intense, but Wali for sure stood out like a man of his word because he promised Arjumand that he wouldn’t let anyone mistreat Agha Jaan anymore & he exactly did what he said. Well, as much as I do agree that Agha Jaan shouldn’t have let his ego get the best of him, I also feel that now when he is trying so hard to make amends, Ruhina should accept his apology. Ruhina might come across as someone who’s level-headed & not your typical submissive daughter-in-law, but I believe there’s a lot of difference in being level-headed & being ill-mannered & Ruhina personifies rudeness to the T. The way she treated rather mistreated Agha Jaan once again went to show that she is someone who can never be satisfied in her life because where on one hand she was waiting to hear from him & complaining about it in front of Tajjamul, on the other hand, when that thing happened, she turned it into another opportunity of insulting Agha Jaan. Yes, she is entitled to take all the time in the world to bring herself to the point where she wants to forgive Agha Jaan, but at least in the meantime, she should put a kibosh on the accusations she hurls at Agha Jaan every single time for being the reason why Behroz is dead today.

The more I get to see Tajjamul & Co., the more I understand why every single one of them is so unreasonable because this trait runs in the family & they all are the ambassadors of irrationality. Where Tajjamul tries so hard to show how protective he is of Faarah, he chooses to say such unrealistic things right in front of her to make her petrified? Tajjamul treats her as a child, so does he really think that discussing such daunting things in front of Faarah is a good idea? As much as he was trying to make Ruhina face the reality, he was sounding like such an immature kid who had no idea what to say when & how! The way Zohra has distanced herself from Ruhina & also the way Tajjamul told his baby-sister as to how busy he was goes to show that Ruhina is not their priority anymore & they are too busy in their lives to worry about their negativity-stricken sister. I was actually shocked to see Tajjamul suggesting Ruhina to ask for financial help from Agha Jaan because as much as I know, Tajjamul makes a good living for himself & his family too, so why isn’t he willing to take care of Ruhina & Faarah on his own without anyone’s help? Tajjamul’s courtesy lasted only a few weeks after Behroz’s death? Where he wants Faarah & Wali to get divorced, he is pushing his sister to seek for some financial help from Agha Jaan using Faarah as a bait? Wow! I really mistook him to be the sane one but after-all he proved, that is he is Ruhina’s elder brother.

Even though, through Faarah & Moeez’s scenes, we are getting to know Faarah better, but I don’t really enjoy watching them together. Moeez seems too chummy & Faarah seems a bit too dumb whenever Moeez is in the picture. As much as I like Faarah’s character, I do remember that when Behroz was alive, she used to communicate according to her age but ever since he has passed away, she has turned into this unrealistic child who stammers & doesn’t even know how to speak? I really hope she regains her appropriate speaking skills & doesn’t continue to be a child anymore. As much as this episode was intense, the humor streak in me didn’t allow me to watch it seriously, that is why when Moeez burst out in anger the proverbs that clicked in my mind were ‘ye muh aur masoor ki daal’ & ‘chota sha muh aul ITNIIII bali baat’. Moeez referred to Wali as Jageerdaar Ka Beta & it was so obvious that without even knowing Wali, Moeez actually has some sort of complexes & grudges against Wali because no matter what they say, Wali is Faarah’s husband & they can do nothing about it!

It wouldn’t be an episode of Diyar-e-Dil if it doesn’t force you to shed a tear or two & this time around the shot of Suhaib & Behroz’s adjacent graves did the honors. That whole scene was so emotional & seeing Agha Jaan all brokenhearted & defeated was absolutely heart-wrenching. I loved the promises he made with both Behroz & Suhaib & even though he will fulfill his promises, I am sure that the journey wouldn’t be so easy to watch because I hate seeing Agha Jaan sad. :/

The preview of next episode seemed really interesting. Looks like Ruhina is following the commands of Tajjamul but little does she know that this is the first step that she has taken that will defy her ego & big words & also this is going to be the first step where Faarah will get to know Wali personally & will then judge him according to her own formed opinions. I can’t wait for the next episode & oh, I liked OKB’s acting in this episode. I am liking both Wali & Faarah’s character & I can’t wait to see them together & last but definitely not the least, I must say the *STAR* of this episode for me was Agha Jaan (read Abid Ali). Sir! You’re AWESOME. *hats off* :)

Mol- Episode 5

0

I have to say that this play is turning out to be a breath of fresh air and I loved watching the latest episode! Emaan and Sheheryaar’s scenes were definitely the highlights of the episode but what I found tremendously impressive was Sajal’s reaction- loved every bit of it!

Sawaal tou tab kia jata hai jab yaqeen na ho. The fact that Sheheryaar’s parents left the night the wedding took place doesn’t worry Emaan and I am glad that instead of making an issue out of this and fretting about the cold attitude of Sheheryaar’s parents, she chose not pry because as long as Sheheryaar is by her side, nothing else matters to her. Emaan’s faith in this newly established relationship or should I say, her faith in Sheheryaar is definitely something I admire. Sheheryaar had the foresight to know that Emaan is a person of his caliber, and now, seeing how understanding and supportive she is, he is convinced of the fact that his decision, which may have seemed hasty at first, was on point and he wouldn’t have to put up with any regrets because Emaan is definitely someone he can spend the rest of his life with.

The darya ki sair, baansri nawaaz, Rumi ki shayri- I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it and I have to say that the outdoor scenes by the river are beautifully shot and captured by the director. I always found Naveen Waqar and Faisal Qureshi’s couple nice and unique but I still had some reservations about their onscreen chemistry. However, after watching this episode, I am totally convinced because the two looked lovely as newly weds and not even once did they sound artificial or fake. Emaan and Sheheryaar are two intellectual and levelheaded people, the two always have an opinion of their own and they may not be alike in many ways but they can connect to each other on a different level. What I like about their conversations is the fact that they are neither too shallow nor too philosophical, and Sheheryaar’s comment, ‘ab kia hum itni mushkil baatain karain gay’ was so natural- I couldn’t stifle a smile! On a side note, I love how they greet each other- subah bakhair!

mol2

Murad’s reaction didn’t surprise me at all and I felt that it was only natural for him to react this way because he feels cheated; he always thought the world of his brother and viewed him as a man of his word. I think it was highly insensitive of Hajra to say, ‘yeh kapray Sheheryaar kay susraal waalon nay aap logon kay liye bhejen hain’– this was no way to break the news to Sajal’s parents. But then again, Sajal and her parents had it coming because that’s exactly what happens when you don’t bother to make sure if the guy in question is willing. Murad and Humayun were very close to each other but it’s sad how people put their existing relationships on stake in hopes of building new ones.

And about Sajal’s reaction, I have to say that the writer deserves a round of applause here! Sajal’s dialogues should be recorded and sent to all the desperate and obsessed vamps ruling our screens- see, that’s how you get OVER your bachpan ki mangni! Sajal is shattered and heartbroken because she was in love with Sheheryaar but instead of turning into a vamp and vowing to destroy the life of Sheheryaar’s wife, I am super glad that Sajal is thinking about moving on and is making an effort to do so. And what kind of mother Zareena is? It almost felt like she wanted her daughter to wallow in self pity! Aap kay liye yeh mangni thi Ammi, magar kia kabhi Sheheryaar nay kaha kay woh iss mangni par amaada hain- that’s the point most people miss but I am all praises for Sajal that she not only came to realize that her parents were at fault for making assumptions about Sheheryaar but also explained to her mother that there’s no use cutting off ties. Here’s hoping that Sajal’s character stays that way and doesn’t take a 360 degree turn! (snappywap.com)

mol3

The fact that Sheheryaar’s parents didn’t attend the Valima was of much gravity so I was expecting Emaan’s parents to take their absence very seriously but seems like they didn’t find it very appalling and Emaan’s mother’s comment, yeh un kay ghar ka maamla hai showed that they are taking it a little too lightly, which honestly doesn’t seem natural to me.

One thing that put me me off though was the way Sheheryaar responded to Emaan’s wish to rejoin her school. Even though what he said later on, when he was in a ‘good’ mood did comfort me a little, I can’t overlook his initial reaction because that tells us a lot about Sheheryaar as a person. I can’t help but wonder: is Sheheryaar a chauvinist after all? I liked Sheheryaar’s character because he always came across as a gentleman to me. I thought he developed a liking for Emaan because she was confident, honest and headstrong but the way he flinched at the mention of Emaan rejoining her school kind of makes me think that Sheheryaar’s mindset is not entirely that of a refined, enlightened man. The promo for next week’s episode also suggests that there are a lot more shades to Sheheryaar’s character so let’s see what they have in store for us.

Ishq Parast – Episode 19-20

And ARY has totally lost it! Forget about providing quality ‘family’ entertainment, this channel has messed up its schedule too! According to the new Ramadan schedule, Ishq Parast was supposed to go on-air at 9:30 p.m. but all I saw on my TV screen was an overexcited Fahad Mustafa giving away some prizes so can someone explain why were they showing Jeeto Pakistan when they should’ve been showing Ishq Parast? And last week, Ishq Parast was aired twice a week so I just don’t get it: what is wrong with these people?

Coming to the episode, well, what did it offer, you may ask? A splitting headache! Yep, at this point, things have gone so horribly wrong in this serial that I can’t see it ending anytime soon because it would take ages to set things straight! The last two episodes involved many cringe-worthy dialogues and headache-inducing situations. There seems to be no light at the end of our tunnel and nothing can rescue this play at this point but I just hope and pray that the pace doesn’t go downhill- the last thing I want is for them to prolong a play that has become almost impossible for me to sit through!

So finally, Dua unveiled the truth about Hamza and oh how I wish I could applaud her honesty only if it weren’t TOO LATE!! And yes, Dua, when you say, ‘Mein nay koshish ki thi aap ko batanay ki’, I would like to interrupt and break this to you that I have a sound memory, thank God, and I for one don’t remember you ‘trying’ to disclose the fact that Hamza is your ex! I do remember a bunch of general comments she passed which merely hinted that she is against Hamza’s proposal but apart from that, no, she made no effort to unveil Hamza’s real intentions. I think what disturbs Zohaib the most is the fact that his relationship with Dua wasn’t as perfect as he considered it to be. Zohaib definitely echoed our thoughts today by making Dua realize that she is the one responsible for putting the whole family in such an abhorrently awkward situation. She had the guts to recount her nakaam love story on her wedding night but couldn’t muster up the courage to reveal the truth about Hamza, despite knowing what a gem of a person Zohaib is? This is more of a reason why I don’t feel for Dua as much as I feel for Zohaib and Arsala at the moment.

ipep19

I think  Dua’s I-have-got-nothing-to-lose speech intimidated Hamza for a while because Hamza wasn’t expecting Dua to spill the beans so soon but he went one step further and told Zohaib about what happened when he was at the hospital. They had already destroyed the play with the rape but I’m sure that they must be thinking: agar barbaad karna hai tou dil khol kay karo, so to make matters worse, Dua is expecting too! Aren’t we putting up with enough already? Dialogues like, ‘Yeh dekh lena kay tum bhi baap banne walay ho kay nahe’ are no joke and should NOT be treated that way! I don’t know why on earth this ‘who’s the father’ plot point has become increasingly common in our plays. So much for family entertainment!

Hey, I just discovered that Mohsin Ali, the writer of Ishq Parast, is the same person who penned Mora Piya, a play that went on-air some years back, starring Aamina Sheikh and Adeel Hussain. Mora Piya was an abuse-based play as well, so I guess this writer is known for his bold scripts.

So Zohaib  finds himself torn between Dua and Arsala. He has two options; either he can confront Arsala and let her know about Hamza’s real intentions, or he can zip his lips and allow things to go stay this way. The former would lead to Arsala’s heartbreak and Zohaib fears how Arsala would take this whereas the latter would mean giving Hamza an open ground for further saazishain. Zohaib has got so much to deal with and after watching this episode, I think Zohaib already feels defeated but as much as I understand his mental state, I feel that he should take some action now because his death stare is not affecting Hamza at all. I think Zohaib should be honest with Arsala because she has a right to know the truth about her husband.

I have to say that the person I truly feel for is Arsala! Since the initial episodes gave us quite a clear insight into the relationship between Arsala and Zohaib,  I can totally understand and relate to the emotional turmoil Arsala’s going through right now. She thought the world of her brother and was certain that no matter what happens, she has Zohaib to fall back on but the sudden rift between the two has left her shattered and she feels cheated. Her decision to move out made perfect sense to me and I have to say that Arsala is a changed person now- I can’t even recognize her anymore!

Khaala is greatly disturbed by the latest turn of events because she feels that she failed to play her part as the lady of the house. I think she received undue screen time in the latest episode and I found it very irritating probably because I find Shaheen Khan’s facial expressions and dialogue delivery to be artificial.
