Tum Kon Piya – Launch Pictures

0

Dramas nowadays are launched and promoted like films. When the promos of some of these dramas are released there are special Press Conferences in which the media is invited to watch the promos and talk to the cast. Tum Kon Piya is a play which is due to air very soon on Urdu1. The play has been produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi. The drama is based on a very popular novel written by Maha Malik and it has been directed by Yasir Nawaz who is a very well known director. In this launch apart from showing the promos of the drama, the media also got a chance to hear first hand from all those people involved in making this drama how their experience was. Ayeza Khan said that she was so into her character that she still has a difficult time coming out of the whole experience. Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas will play leading roles in the drama with actors like Ali Abbas, Hina Bayat, Azra Mohiuddin, and Muhammad Qavi will make a strong supporting cast.

The drama is all set to air at the end of March. Ayeza Khan is very excited about this project because with this play she will make a comeback in Pakistani dramas after she got married. Ayeza Khan was also seen in a telefilm on valentine’s day but this will be her first serial.

Here are some pictures from the launch.

Nauman Ijaz With His Family – Pictures

Nauman Ijaz’s acting skills are remarkable. He has been associated with the drama industry for a very long time and in this time he has given some superb performances because of which he has a massive fan following. Nauman Ijaz is one of those actors who do not give a lot of interview. Even in this day and age when every other actor will do anything to promote his dramas and celebrities are seen on every other Morning Show Nauman Ijaz is hardly seen in these or any talk shows at all. Nauman Ijaz also keeps his wife away from limelight unlike many other actors whose wives are seen in public supporting them all the time. There are times when Nauman Ijaz’s pictures with his family are seen on the internet usually when they attend wedding functions we see these pictures.

Nauman Ijaz disappeared from dramas when he took up hosting of Mazaq Raat but the viewers are getting to see him in dramas again now that he has left hosting. In a recent interview Nauman Ijaz said that he studied to be a lawyer but due to financial pressure he had to venture into the showbiz industry. He said,

“Luckily I got the opportunities and I availed them so I left law. I always wanted to be a newscaster then. When there used to be only one channel PTV then the 9pm newscaster was the hero, people believed everything that person said. But when I went for an audition, I was rejected for the post of a newscaster.”

Nauman Ijaz also confessed that he had a crush on Samina Peerzada the first time he saw her in reality. He said that when he had to get married, he was not accepted by his in laws because he was an actor. He worked for a few months only so he would get the proposal. He said,

“I have 3 beautiful kids, God is very kind. I always had a lot of faith in Allah. I liked Rabia (my wife) the first time I saw her in Kinnaird College, she was very simple and when I got to know her better I realized she was wife material.”

Here are some beautiful pictures of Nauman Ijaz with his wife and children from different years, some recent and some old.

Ab Kar Meri Rafugari – Episode 1 – 5

An iDream Entertainment production and directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi, Ab Kar Meri Rafugari airs on ARY Digital every Thursday at 8pm. It is an adaptation of the novel by the same name written by Saira Raza.

I had watched the first two episodes earlier and then missed the next three so I caught up by watching them online this morning and with food cooking at the choola again (shami kebabs this time), I will try to recap basically what has happened so far.

Ab Kar Meri Rafugari is the story of three brothers’ families living in a joint family system. The eldest brother is dead however his wife Taayi (Humaira Zaheer) and daughter Myeda (Mira Sethi) still live there. The second oldest brother Mujahid (Usman Peerzada) and his wife (Nida Mumtaz) have three children, Zoofi (Maryum Ansari), Tabba (Usna Shah) and a young son. The youngest brother Sajid (Hashim Butt) and his wife Chachi (Sakina Sammo) have three children, the eldest being Shakeel (Ali Safina).

The three families are shown to be quite conservative and set in their ways, rather the brothers are and the youngest Chachi who is portrayed as a trouble maker. They are quite firm about not entertaining any proposals for their daughters from outside their ‘baradari’. The older two bhabhis are reasonable, well meaning women who share a close bond but do not have much say in the family matters as Mujahid seems to be the key decision maker.

Taayi wants to get Myeda married and after several potential rishtas which fizzle into nothing and following reluctant permission from Mujahid, she gives a photo of Myeda to a rishtay walay aunty (Zaheen Tahira). At the same time we are introduced to another family which is that of Sultan (Shakeel Yousuf) and his wife (Shamim Hilali) and their son Jahanzeb (Daniyal Raheel).

Sultan and his wife come across as a well to do, respectable couple who dote on their only son. Jahanzeb’s mother is also looking to arrange a marriage for her son and meets with the same rishtay walay aunty that Taayi has spoken to. Earlier on, Jahanzeb sees Tabba at a flower shop and is instantly drawn to her and when he sees her in the ‘group’ photo that Taayi has given of Myeda, he announces to his mother that he will marry only Tabba.

Myeda receives a proposal and everyone is happy when her baat gets pakki. The rishtay walay aunty puts forth Daniyal’s rishta to Mujahid for Tabba saying the family would like to meet with them and he agrees. When the Sultans arrive, they are greeted very warmly but after they leave Mujahid says he will say no to the proposal as they do not belong to their baradari? Why didn’t he just ask the aunty on the phone what the family’s background was? Or was it that she had caught him off guard by ringing him at work and talking about the proposal that it slipped his mind?

Anyhow, Tabba is unaware of the whole scenario. Jahanzeb is heartbroken and keeps pushing his parents to speak to Tabba’s family again. Apparently till now he has not aankh uttha kar looked at a girl and now that aankh utthaayi tau waheen attak gaya hai! I have to hand it to his parents, man, full marks for persistency! Sultan goes to Mujahid’s office and even gets the mosque imam involved to speak on their behalf. Yet Mujahid is adamant and keeps turning him down and is actually beginning to get quite annoyed.

Meanwhile, parents ko tau aagay lagaya he hua hai, Jahanzeb feels he needs to put in his two cents and resorts to lurking around her college and her home. He bribes little street boys and manages to slip letters to Tabba. Initially she resists but then can not help taking them and reading them once at home. She does not reply but is curious and does not tell anyone in her family about the letters.

When Mujahid goes to pick them from college one day, he sees Jahanzeb there. Zoofi also spots him at the mall when they are out shopping. Mujahid spots him again hanging around their mohalla and he is furious. With Sajid and Shakeel accompanying him, he sets off in a rage to beat up Jahanzeb. He then rings Jahanzeb’s father, taking full responsibility for his actions and threatening him with a much more grim outcome next time if Jahanzeb does not quit following his daughter around.

Jahanzeb is at the hospital now all bandaged up and his father persuades him not to tell the police the truth and just say he was mugged by thugs he did not recognize. Due to all the hungama, Mujahid restricts Tabba’s movements and she learns about Jahanzeb’s rishta. She shares the letters with her sister who tears them all up. Tabba is very curious and interested now to know more about Jahanzeb.

That was the story in a nutshell. Well, a bit bigger than a nutshell I suppose! To be honest, even though I am not blown away by an aspect of the drama be it the storyline, the direction or the acting, I still like it. I liked the relationship Myeda shares with her cousins, Tabba and Zoofi. Their bond seems very real and natural and cousins, especially those living in a joint family system may have different personalities like these three do, as Myeda is the shy and serious one whereas Zoofi and Tabba are much more outspoken and confident, but I like how they stand up for Myeda and are often shown to be chatting and giggling together. But then you also have the weird cousin Shakeel and his trouble making mother which are characters quite often found in real life too.

I found the whole scenario of Jahanzeb hanging around Tabba’s college and her house, slipping letters – although borderline stalkerish – and Tabba being drawn to reading them and arousing her curiosity all very easy to believe. I am not a huge fan of Usna Shah’s acting in bechari roles but she seems to be convincing enough in her role here so far.

I know Usman Peerzada is a great actor and has appeared in quite a few dramas lately but this role of an overly protective, set in his ways and outraged father suits him perfectly. I had goosebumps (well, sort of but I did sit up and take notice) when he barges off to beat up Jahanzeb and then makes the phone call later to Sultan. Although I did cringe over Jahanzeb’s wails –not out of sympathy though. Yes, I have watched probably too many Indian movies as a teenager and believed he should have either fought back or grit his teeth and taken the beating without wailing like a banshee! Shakeel and Shamim Halali always act well although I do prefer Shamim Halali in her sweet mother roles rather than an evil saas (Aye Zindagi and Aitraaz).

Daniyal Raheel’s persona is that of a mommy’s boy and hence his scenes with his mother did seem very real. However, I found it really hard to connect his personality with that of the lovestruck man in the letters. Even his parents are in denial and shock over his harketein, letters parh laitay tau kia sochtay! Mira Sethi’s dialogue delivery has improved considerably over time. Usna Shah and Maryum Ansari have yet to have given outstanding performances ever, but so far seem to fit into their characters. Ali Safina’s voice grates on my nerves and I do not know, I just wish Sakina Sammo had been given a different role to play.

I find it a bit overwhelming when there are so many characters in a play and wonder how a balance is struck by showing different tracks but at the same time not digressing from the main one. However, the scenes in the drama seem to unfold well in a sequence so far with no particular scene being dragged out as far as I recall. The OST is nothing to write home about, I suppose I have been spoiled by Rahat Fateh Ali and Qurat ul Ain Baloch crooning one beautiful song after the other.

Overall, I like the story so far. Mujahid beating Jahanzeb up was a bit dramatic I thought, but I still it is refreshing to watch something outside the realms of doosri biwis and cheating husbands and plotting saas, bahus and nands, although Chachi is no saint either.

I am curious if anyone else is following this drama? Please do share your thoughts.

Getting Acquainted With Our Neighbors

0

So, it’s been close to 2 years ever since I’ve started viewing the dramas from across the border and I must say that to this day I still desire for more. It all began when accidently I had come across a post in twitter about a drama that was coming to end in the recently launched Zindagi TV channel in India called “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”. The post and the picture posted along with it seemed eye-catching and the movie/drama buff in me wanted to know more about it. So I turn to Google. After reading a couple of articles about the drama, my curiosity grew more and I started watching the 1st episode online. What I see is something implausible especially after being cognizant of the K dramas (glad I didn’t see any of them) that reigned in India. I completed watching all the 26 episodes in about 3-4 days. What an amazing drama! The story, the screenplay, the characters everything was so spellbinding that I just couldn’t believe what I’ve just seen. I so frantically wanted to converse with someone to share my new fond discovery. So I turn to my family and friends and persuade them to watch it.

Couple of episodes into Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Fawad Khan is all you can think of. I haven’t seen such an actor in recent times who is astonishing with such great persona and great acting. My curiosity to know more about him made me watch his other much appreciated dramas: Humsafar and Daastan that I relished.

drama

My yearning to see more didn’t end there. Thanks to the internet, google and you tube that anything/everything needed to know these days is just a click away, especially with a smart phone at your disposal. After reading more about the Pakistani dramas and searching for the same, came across few other dramas (Durr-e-Shawar, Pyarey Afzal, Shehr-e-Zaat, Mata-e-Jaan, Daam, Mera Naseeb, Meri Zaat, Khuda aur Mohabbat etc.,) that have been widely appreciated. So I begin viewing these and my journey with the Pakistani dramas took pace. While I was hysterically completing watching the above, I’ve also came across few other dramas that were on air which grabbed my attention such as Sadkay Tumhare, Alvida, Mera Naam Yousuf Hai, Diyar-e-Dil. I begin watching these as well in parallel and impatiently wait for the new episodes every week.

drama10

Another actor that I revered next is Imran Abbas after I started watching Alvida. There’s something in him that appealed to me instantly. I’m not sure if it is the character, his acting, his persona. But he did grab my attention. Nevertheless, a little research on him and I start watching his other dramas, Dil-e-Muztar and Khuda aur Mohabbat and loved them.

About the same time I happen to come across this website www.reviewit.pk. It was interesting to read the reviews about the happening dramas along with various articles/posts. What I enjoyed the most about the reviews here are the perceptions of the writers where they analyze the characters and the stories.

drama2

For the next few months, I rifled more and caught up with some more dramas such as- Mere Humdum Mere Dost, Ashk, Kahi Unkahi, Mere Dard ko Juban Miley, Mere Qatil Mere Dildar, Aunn Zara, Bilqees Kaur, Shukk etc., to name a few. I was getting fascinated with these dramas, enjoyed reading updates about the drama industry, catching up with the reviews and watching the interviews of the actors/actresses. Gradually, these dramas/actors/actresses were becoming a part of my life that I was falling in love with. I started listening to the OST’s in my car, go about shopping for Pakistani dresses and have picked up quite a bit of Urdu vocab.

After Fawad and Imran, another actor that took my attention is Sami Khan that I’m in reverence of right now after watching the promos of Teri Meri Jodi. He is one amazing actor with an alluring acting style. So, as usual the next steps for me is to know more and see more of him. I then search for his dramas and finish watching: Do Kadam Door Thay, Sirat e Mustaqeem, Bashar Momin, Ghao etc.

To this day, I’ve watched over 55+ dramas and yet I yearn for more. What grips your instant attention to these dramas is practically everything that is essential for a good drama – be it the setting, the characters, the dialogues, the dressing, the action etc.,. There’s a natural sense to these dramas that you can easily relate to even though some of the stories are mundane. Moreover, I observed that some dramas convey such beautiful messages at the end which is so vital these days. I wish the writers/directors keep up with the good work and adhere to delivering top quality dramas as I believe that television plays a very significant role in circulating ideas among the people and shaping their views. Hopefully we keep getting to see some brilliant dramas in the coming years with fresh concepts and good scripts. I’m glad that I have come across these dramas and got acquainted with my neighboring country, better late than never. I do wish and hope to visit Pakistan one day to experience their hospitality and make new friends. Inshallah!!

Mana Ka Gharana – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, this episode of Mana Ka Gharana was good & alright both. I feel that way because in my opinion, most of the characters have stopped making sense, the direction has become mediocre & the story has nothing much to offer. I feel it’s good only as far as Maalik & Zarri’s track is concerned because it still has something left to offer.

Shehryaar once again found a reason to insult Khizer but what annoyed me the most was that Mana stood there as a spectator & didn’t even have the courage to stop Shehryaar completely. Even though she tried her ‘level best’ but didn’t seem too concerned. Yes, she took a stand when Khizer retaliated & he tried to punch Shehryaar, which showed that she can take a stand but for the wrong reasons at a wrong time. She shunned Khizer’s hand only to display her detest but I really don’t understand why each & everyone is only holding Khizer responsible & why even a single family member has not questioned Shehryaar (except Zarri)?

As far as I remember, all these characters had some sensibility & maturity where they could differentiate between the right & wrong but ever since Shehryaar has come into the picture, each & everyone has lost the plot. Saleha got another reason to hate Khizer, but why didn’t she or Ghalib or Maalik try to ask Mana about the reason behind Khizer’s aggression? She came & reported the incident & they all believed in her one sided story without putting much thought into the fact that something must’ve happened that pushed all the wrong buttons there. Anyways, I am glad that in such an annoying scene, I got one thing that made me laugh & that was Shehryaar’s run towards his car like a coward when he saw Khizer coming towards him. LOL! Matlab, itniiiiii bari batain aur andar se himmat chuhay jitni? Also, I think Shehroz Sabzwari took Mai-Shahrukh-Khan-Banna-Chahta-Hoon to another level. Take it easy bro…it wasn’t fun seeing the vibration of your cheeks!

I thought Mana said that she will speak to Shehryaar about Gul Bahar & her unnecessary interference but looks like she hasn’t done the talking because Gul Bahar is like a mad woman on the loose who is doing what she pleases, without even bothering about Shehryaar. She thought that Saleha needed to prove how eager she was to get Mana married to Shehryaar & in order to do that she had to give everything that she has under Mana’s ownership. Oh well, it took a split second for Saleha to agree to the gibberish Gul Bahar uttered & she went on a mission to convince everyone. I really thought that for a moment Ghalib, Maalik & Saleha will question the demand put forth by Gul Bahar because if Shehryaar is so rich, why would he need a small property like Mana’s home? I found it odd that Maalik agreed to it without even trying to knock some sense into Saleha’s empty head aur Ghalib uncle ki to hamesha ki tarhaan seeti hi Ghayab ho gai. Yes, I do understand that parents walk an extra mile for their children but no one does it without thinking things through. What guarantee does Saleha has that giving each & everything to Mana will ensure her happiness? Can’t they all see that things haven’t been smooth ever since Mana & Shehryaar have gotten engaged, first the way Khizer was targetted, then again all those attempts of insulting Khizer & now this unreasonable demand of property? This rishta isn’t as ideal as Saleha thinks it is but in aunty kaun samjhaye!!!

Anyways, Saleha spoke to Khizer about the property issue too & like a good boy, he agreed to it. Saleha also thought that she should let him know that he is no more a part of their family because Mr. Kal-Ke-Aye-Hue Shehryaar wants things to be that way & Khizer seemed cool with it too. Saleha is such a gamer where she wanted Khizer to cover up the whole situation by saying that he has already taken the money, but I find it ridiculous that aunty ki aqal ghas charnay chali jati hai when it comes to Shehryaar. I really want her to lose everything because then only she will understand how unreasonable she has been. I also think, it would’ve been better if they had shown Saleha as a widow because it would’ve justified her bebaaki & the bossy behavior because sorry to say, Ghalib uncle zinda hote hue bhi zinda to nahi hain!

Well, I liked the note at which the episode ended, where Maalik got to confess what he feels for Zarri, but honestly speaking, what I liked the most was Zarri’s display of dignity & self-respect where she took a stand against what Maalik said. It shows that she isn’t so desperate to wreck someone’s marriage even if it doesn’t exist but the fact still remains that both Gul Bahar & Maalik aren’t legally divorced, so it makes Zarri the second woman & she doesn’t want that. However, I liked Maalik’s confession & his reaction to what Zarri said because it showed how hurt he was & he was holding Gul Bahar responsible for it because she has destroyed everything in his life. I am glad that at least someone has the guts to stand against this evil duo of Gul Bahar & Shehryaar. Also, I really think it’s about time they start showing us how Mana ka Gharana will take a stand against them & get rid of them because I think it’s a bit too much where the negative characters are ruling like a boss & the supposedly positive ones are becoming their minions.

Laila girl, you need to explore Murree because that’s the reason behind your visit. They have tried to introduce a new character in Khizers’s life but the plot is weak & the way it has been introduced is weaker. I think in stead of cutting the calls short, Mana should speak to Shehryaar directly about what bothers her about him. Also, I found it odd that Saleha shares everything with her daughter but she didn’t tell her anything about Gul Bahar’s demands? I really want to know what Mana’s reaction would be. The preview of the next episode suggested a little more drama too but I am sure it would lack the impact. Overall, despite being a decent drama to watch, Mana Ka Gharana is losing its charm & they can get it back if the characters buckle up against Gul Bahar & Shehryaar (dono ke naam bhi itney mushkil aur lambay hain ke type karte hue 2 ghantay lag jatay hain)! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana & if you can, please suggest me some shorter names for Gul Bahar & Shehryaar, that would be a huge favor! :D

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Ahsan Khan has taken his new year resolution very seriously till now. When this New Year started Ahsan Khan made a resolution to make a difference in people’s lives and do at least one kind deed every day. Ahsan Khan has been acting on this resolution in many different ways. Sometimes he is seen helping random people who are beggars and homeless on screen. He makes sure that he spends quality time with such people. The way he interacts with them makes it clear that he derives true pleasure out of doing these acts.

Recently Ahsan Khan played an active role in setting up the Wall Of Kindness in Karachi. The concept of the Wall of Kindness started from Iran and it is quickly picking up in Pakistan too. Beqasoor – Episode 16

Unlike the last two episodes this episode was not very happening and there were plenty of filler scenes in tonight’s episode. The opening scene of tonight’s episode was the first filler scene which did not add anything new to the story. Even after witnessing what was going on between Shehryar and Nuzhat, Hira very conveniently fell for the lie her Phupo told her and could not do much except for showing her displeasure. This scene did not lead to any new developments and it took a lot of screen time, more than 11 minutes to be precise! We saw Hira warming up to Shehryar’s friend’s son and it is quite obvious now that the primary reason Shehryar wants Hira to get a divorce is that so she can marry his friend’s son. The conversation between Hira and the boy showed that Hira did like him a little after all! This relationship of course is not meant to last therefore these interactions will ultimately lead to nothing.

Sehr proved yet again that she is not someone who gives up easily. Even after Nuzhat tells her to get a divorce from Shehryar she decides to do something entirely different. This particular scene was extremely confusing because when Sehr was talking to her phupo about the dinner and what she did it looked like she was talking about the past but later on we saw Shehryar coming back home after the dinner. Perhaps she was talking about the last time Shehryar and Hira went out for dinner but the scene was very puzzling. I felt like there was a lot of talking in this episode but not much happened.

Shehryar treated Sehr like an old toy which he no longer wanted to entertain himself with. The recent developments were definitely in line with his character. Shehryar is still the selfish man he was before, the only difference is that he wants Hira in his life now. Nuzhat has convinced herself that she will have a much better present and future if she gets married to Shehryar or if she chooses to be his ‘friend’! Sajjid Hassan is brilliant as a selfish man who only looks after his own interests and Javeria Abbasi has nailed her character in this drama.

bq

There has been absolutely no character development in this play so far which makes it look like the story will be wrapped up in the last one or two episodes. The characters that were black are still evil and those that were white remain loyal to the people they were loyal with right from the beginning. Many of the scenes in tonight’s episode were stretched without a reason. Waseem continued to mistrust his wife and Sehr still has him wrapped around her little finger. The scenes between Amin and his wife are monotonous to say the least Two weeks back it seemed like it was the ideal time to end this drama but now it is quite clear that the story will go around in circles before it finally comes to an end.

Saboor Ali always has been and still is the weakest link in this drama. Her dialogue delivery is unimpressive and she has definitely not been able to breathe life into her character. All the other actors are well-suited for their roles except for Samina Peerzada whose presence keeps on reminding me of her strong character in Rehaii and her sensible character in Durr-e-Shahwar. Samina Peerzada’s acting is brilliant as usual but an actress like her has so much more to offer than to play the role of an utterly helpless woman. She is graceful and she is an outstanding actress but her role doesn’t have much to offer. The actress who played the role of Sadaf’s neighbor however stood out like a sore thumb! I have always felt that the negative characters in this play always stand out more than the positive ones because they are the ones who usually take the story forward.

How many of you watched this latest episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it. If you missed tonight’s episode, watch it on http://dramaonline.com/

Sanam Jung Says She Has The Perfect In Laws

0

Ever since Sanam Jung has joined her Morning Show after her wedding, she keeps on sharing different experiences of her early married life. Just like any other person who just got married Sanam Jung loves talking about her husband and in laws. She has said many times that she does not know how to cook but that is not a problem because her husband and in laws are not the kind of people who would expect her to be a “sughar bahu”.

Talking about lunch and dinner time after her marriage Sanam Jung said,

“Many people are scared of father in laws but my father in law is really cool. There is no formality at all. I ate whatever I wanted to on the table and filled my plate as many times as I wanted and no one had a problem with it.”

Sanam also said that there have been a lot of embarrassing moments on the table but her mother in law just laughs them away. She also said,

“My in laws don’t expect me to do any work. If I try to be a good bahu by bringing plates or passing on things, they keep on telling me to sit down and take it easy.”

“I Am Conscious About Everything, I Am A Perfectionist” – Ayesha Sana

0

Ayesha Sana’s viral videos in which she is shown shouting at people because they did not do her make up right or did not make her look ‘bright’ enough have been seen by everyone. Ayesha has decided that there is no way for her to run way from what everyone says about her so the best thing to do is to accept it. That is why when she was invited by Nida Yasir on her Morning Show she started the interview with her “bright karei” lines!

1

But at the same time she also defended herself, she said,

“Sometimes things are shown out of context. No one knows what went on behind the scenes. Things like this happen with everyone backstage but we forgive and forget in no time.”

2

Nida Yasir also mentioned that some of the people who made Ayesha Sana’s Dubsmash videos were her best friends. To this she replied,

“With friends like these who needs enemies!”

Nida Yasir tried her best to keep the conversation on track by trying to know about Ayesha Sana’s personality. Ayesha revealed in her interview,

“I am a perfectionist. I am very conscious about everything. It is something that is in my genes and you can’t fight your genes. I am nothing compared to my sisters and Phupos, I am untidy and imperfect in front of them. “

4

Ayesha Sana defended her actions by saying that she has always been very picky, this is something beyond her control. She said,

“In school I used to get ulcers, I used to worry about things so much. I used to take so much stress of my studies when I was a student. The good thing about that was that in school I topped in Cambridge.”

3

Ayesha Sana also talked about how her ambitions were curtailed because of the timings of everything private that went on in her life. She got married while she was studying so it effected her studies. She gave the credit for her picky and perfectionist nature to her teachers who in school guided her to do her best in everything. She also said that she loved doing live shows.

0

Aamina Sheikh and Mohib Mirza are one of the most talented and prominent celebrity couples of our showbiz industry. Both of them have worked very hard to get where they are today and what is most important is their support for each other. No celebrity can grow if their spouse does not support them. These two stars have always supported each other everywhere whether it is something as little as one of them endorsing a brand or something as big as a film.

5

Mohib Mirza’s film Bachaana is all set to be released on February 26. The film is already being criticized by the Indian media because they feel that the story of the film was taken from the Indian film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The promotions of the film are in full swing here in Pakistan. The leads of the film Mohib Mirza and Sanam Saeed are seen on every talk show talking about the film and asking people to watch them. Aamina Sheikh has also supported her husband and a great deal of faith in his upcoming project. When the trailer of the film came out, here is what Aamina Sheikh posted on her timeline.

3

Recently Aamina Sheikh promoted the film in a unique way by posting a picture of herself and her baby girl Meissa Mirza in which the baby wears a special shirt with the dialogue from the film which is already being quoted everywhere. Preet Na Kariyo Koi – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Preet Na Kariyo Koi. There were so many elements in this episode that impressed me & like I have said before, the strong story telling of this drama takes you to the world of its own. I love how they are working towards the wrap up, this drama restores my faith in Pakistani drama-makers that we still have such people who know how to tackle a perfectly written script intelligently & precisely.

This episode was all about Shams & Shagufta’s take on Noori’s life. Shagufta succeeded in getting rid of Ameen but what surprised me more was that in stead of feeling embarrassed, Ameen tried to reason with Shagufta suggesting that there was nothing objectionable in his proposal for Noori. He didn’t see anything odd about marrying a 17 y/o, which showed that he was quite desperate to get a life partner. He might be an eligible bachelor for so many women out there but it was hard to adsorb that a man of his age was ready to marry a teenager. Everything that Shagufta told him was spot on, if he really wanted to help Shams, he could’ve done it based on the fact that they were friends, without expecting anything in return.

Shams was already frustrated with the way his life was turning out to be, where he only had to abide by the rules & regulations set by Shagufta but after Shagufta’s act of deception, he promised himself that he’ll get back at her. Even though Shams has come out of the prison, he still feels imprisoned because Shagufta doesn’t allow him to have his way & he isn’t allowed to take decisions for his family. Shams wants to feel what it is like to be in control, what it is like to be the head of the family but now when that spot has been taken over by Shagufta, the detest Shams feels for her is growing more & more & that is why Shams is now resorting to open retaliation, where he wants to let Shagufta know that she holds no importance in his life. The conversation that Shams had with his friend showed that even though Shagufta might think Shams can’t do much, he knows about Shagufta’s Achilles Heel. Shams is well aware of the fact that Shagufta will put up with everything just because she loves him. We all were waiting to hear this from Shams & Shagufta is also waiting to hear Shams say that he understands how much she loves him & he acknowledges how much she has done for him but even though Shams admitted to know about it, he said it when his mind & heart are filled with negativity & rage against her. Isn’t is unfortunate that the moment that Shagufta waited for all her life came at such a point where it is going to cause her more pain & distress? Even though Shams’s life is all fuzzy, he still has a clear plan in his mind, he now wants to get back at Shagufta & he wants to punish her for loving him, that is why he is now going to get Zareena back because he knows that if there’s one thing that Shagufta wants, it is to keep him in her sights & even though Shams is ready to give Shagufta what she wants, he wants to do it on his conditions now.

Even though we all can tell how Ilyas & Bhola will contribute to the story, I still am looking forward to the part they will play in Noori & Roomi’s life. I really like how the writer has kept them as a trump card because it will take something big for Shagufta to agree to Roomi & Noori’s wedding. Bhola still hasn’t forgiven Shagufta but Ilyas tries his level best to talk him out of the hatred Bhola feels for his sister. I found it really nice that even after finding out the truth that Noori happens to be his niece, Bhola still promised to extend his help to Roomi because he knows that Noori has nothing to do with what Shagufta has done & she doesn’t deserve Bhola’s hatred. Roomi’s mother still has some reservations, not about Noori but about Shagufta because she wants to know what sort of a background does Noori belong to, that is why she questioned Ilyas about Shagufta’s past. I loved the way Ilyas sided with both Shams & Shagufta, because he understands what love does to you. Ilyas knows the extremes Shagufta went for Shams but he didn’t want to put her in a bad light. It was sad that without even knowing Roomi properly, Shagufta rejected his proposal. I really thought may be Chachi will accompany them but Roomi’s father didn’t think it was a good idea for now.

I liked how Noori took a stand for herself, where she refused to meet Suleri’s family & also the way she clearly told her mother that she will do what is right for her. Shagufta needs to understand that Noori still has chosen a decent guy for herself & he is far better than Shams. I really really liked how they started introducing Shagufta’s family back into her life subtly. The first hint that she got was through the sketch of Chachi that Noori was drawing & it brought back a lot such memories of her Chachi where Shagufta mistreated her, also the mention of Shagufta’s father by Shams pinched her a lot. I really like how things are getting so tough on Shaguta that now she will be forced to realize how important her family was & what is missing from her life. I am sure now when Shagufta will reconcile with her family, she will cherish them more as she is already tired after fighting so many battles alone that now she is yearning for some mental peace & someone to rely on someone emotionally.

The preview of the next episode was so intense & interesting. I can’t wait to see Shagufta’s reaction when she will get to know that Roomi is related to Shagufta’s Chachi. Sadly, it is Shagufta herself who has forced Noori to take such a huge step but what I liked the most was that Ilyas & Bhola will come to rescue Noori. I can’t wait for the next episode as it is going to be very dramatic. I must say, the best parts about this whole episode were the usage of Urdu & beautifully written conversations. I loved the dialogues especially because they were filled with such profound & accurate Urdu that it was like a music to my ears. This drama leaves such a great impact because they have paid attention to such minor details, like proper dialogues & meaningful conversations. I must say, Hira Salman & Ahsan Khan, both have elevated the level of this drama with their phenomenal acting & they have given a perfect face to the characters of Shagufta & Shams. Their body language, their facial expressions, the anger in their eyes & the sarcastic smirks, each & everything is conveyed beautifully. The director for sure has done a brilliant job at getting the best out of these actors & I must say, the supporting cast has done an equally amazing job too by playing their part so so so well. This whole team has emerged as a power-packed package that has given us a perfect entertainment to enjoy & remember & I thank them for that. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Preet Na Kariyo Koi! :)

Mann Mayal – Episode 5

This was another episode of Mannu’s madness which reminded me of Haya’s character from Alvida. Haya too married Rameez only because she wanted to prove a point to Haadi. Just like Mannu, Haya too was immature and fearless. Both these characters are naive enough to think that it is alright to get married to someone even when you know that you will never feel anything for that person. I must say that the X-factor was totally missing from this episode for two reasons. Firstly because the episode in which we saw Salahuddin refusing to open the door for Mannu should have been the final goodbye for these two characters. That scene was highly emotional and it did imply that Mannu was out of Salahuddin’s life for good therefore watching Salahuddin pick up the phone and call Mannu after he had put in so much effort into shutting her out of his life was definitely a big led down. Salahuddin convinced Mikael to marry Mannu and so far has been shown as someone with very strong nerves therefore these emotional outbursts are not really fitting in. These emotional outbursts of course are meant to show that Salahuddin loves Mannu too but even then somehow I found them highly unconvincing. Secondly, the whole situation was turned into ‘yeh shadi nahi ho sakti’ scenario for no reason at all! These lovers had parted ways in an unconventional manner but what we saw in tonight’s episode was very clichéd and definitely something which was not needed since they are not meant to be together any way!

mm

I liked Mikael’s character because unlike many of the other men we see in our dramas, it seemed like he will actually pay more heed to Mannu’s feelings than his own since any sensible man would not want to get married to a girl who does not want to marry him – unless of course this man is not very sensible!! The preview of the next episode did suggest that Mikael will turn out to be a twisted character just like Rameez! I hate to compare this drama with Alvida again and again but at this point there are a lot of similarities between these two dramas.

Almost all the conversations in tonight’s episode failed to make an impact. I kept on waiting for that perfect scene that blows you away but watching Mannu ‘slip’ outside in front of her mother and phupo and watching Salahuddin letting Mannu stay for that long with him was very hard to digest! I liked the last scene the best and not because Salahuddin showed his love for Mannu openly in front of everyone but because of what Mannu’s father said to him. Salahuddin never had the courage to ask for Mannu’s hand even when her father met him in private. I did feel like one of the reasons Mannu’s father had that conversation with Salahuddin was because in his heart he wanted to be convinced but Salahuddin never even tried! Watching the parents beat up their daughter was definitely not very pleasing even if she deserved it! Mannu’s father of course felt led down and his reaction was understandable but even then the scene was too clichéd.

mm2

I have said it before too, the director Haseeb Hassan has definitely given his best to this drama but it would have been so much better had the writer and the director decided to skip the recent chain of events. Mannu was already getting married to Mikael whether her father stopped supporting her or not. Mannu’s conversation with Salahuddin in this episode were repetitive, we know she is hopelessly in love but listening to the same dialogues over and over again made it look like the writer was trying too hard to get the message across. Maya Ali however is very convincing as someone who is madly in love and incapable of thinking straight. Hamza Ali Abbasi is more convincing as the practical Salahuddin as opposed to the emotional one. I must say that there were some scenes in tonight’s episode in which the supporting characters stood out more than the lead characters. I especially liked Saba Hameed’s acting in this episode although her character didn’t have a big role to play in tonight’s episode.

Tere Mere Beech – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, this episode of Tere Mere Beech was interesting like all the previous episodes. This drama might not offer you something extremely new but the way the characters have been presented on screen, makes it an interesting watch. You get to understand what all of them are going through & what they’re feeling, also the powerful acting of all the actors force you to await the next episode every single week.

Fahad finally came clear & confessed that he wasn’t a business partner & to add more that, he didn’t even have a job as well. He said it all to Nighat’s face & she got some more screen time to cry over her daughter’s luck. Nighat thought she’d be able to fight off Fahad but Hareem told her to take a back seat because no matter what, Fahad was her husband now & she loved him unconditionally. At this point, Hareem is unable to see the bigger picture. She wants to run away from her family so much that she is not giving much thought to the fact that how difficult her life will get when she will eventually start living with Fahad as he has no job & no decent place for her to live. Hareem has this confidence that no matter what, things will be fine & everything will work in her favour, that is why she is not ready to let go of Fahad.

Fahad played his cards well. He knows it very well that he has Hareem wrapped around his finger & no matter what, she will never leave him, that is why he threw some tantrums to test how far Hareem can go for him. The first test he put her through was to get an apology from Nighat, he wanted to know how much Hareem can push her family for him & Hareem succeeded in proving her love to him, which gave Fahad a clear cut idea that his wife will do everything that he’ll ask her to do.

Finally, Fahad got to meet Qadeer & he was thoroughly impressed by the treatment he got. Fahad really thought that Qadeer was being generous & he owes something to Hareem that is why he was treating them so nicely but I am sure it won’t take him too long to realize that Hareem doesn’t own anything. It was good to see Hareem happy, even though there still isn’t any guarantee for her happiness to be long lived but still, she is finding happiness in such small moments, which makes her not pay heed to what’s ahead of her.

Fahad thought Hareem will be able to convince Qadeer to hand over her chunk of property to her & he will fulfill her demands easily but Fahad was taken aback with the way Qadeer lashed out at her. Fahad really doesn’t know anything & he is actually quite gullible to think that he will succeed in his plan because he himself hasn’t done much research & he only chose to believe the version he heard from Hareem. I am sure now when he will understand that he doesn’t have a chance at all, his behavior with Hareem will change completely & she will end up regretting marrying Fahad. For Hareem’s sake, I so hope that with her patience & support, she succeeds in changing Fahad’s attitude completely & by seeing the love Hareem has for him, Fahad decides to change himself for good too.

Overall this episode was good, the preview seemed interesting as well. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Agha Ali & Sanam Chauhdry’s acting, they both are a saving grace of this drama. Also, I do think they need to cut down on the coverage that Nadia & Nighat get & if not then add something else in their tracks because the seem like fillers now. The moment I hear Nadia speak about Hareem, I always think that why doesn’t she or her husband have anything else to talk about??? Both Ali & Nadia haven’t helped Hareem or her situation till date, so then their presence makes no sense at all & nor do they contribute much to the story too. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Tere Mere Beech!

Aabro – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was just like the other episodes, it was strictly ohkay. I don’t know why, even though the team has done a good job at conveying the story but the story itself is so so typical & all the situations are so familiar that I don’t think I am watching anything new in Aabro. It is all about a suffering of a girl who didn’t think things through which reminds me time & again that all our dramas are filled with stories & characters like these, so what’s new here? I really think HUM TV needs to step up their game & come up with different & fresh ideas.

Anyways, this episode was all about Aabro’s ordeals & the attitude her in-laws had towards her. Even though Aabro is getting what she deserves, I also think Ali’s mother is as unreasonable as both Ali & Aabro. She blows things out of proportion because she hates Aabro, that is why anything that Aabro says or does is held against her. The things both Shahida & Zubaida discussed were wrong too. I for once don’t understand what does Shahida think or herself & her daughter Fauzia? Just because she is marrying Fauzia off to Abid, does Shahida really think that she is going to run how things work in Zubaida’s home? When the thought of Fauzia living under the same roof with Ali & Aabro is so dreadful & awful to her, then why didn’t she think of it before choosing Ali’s brother Abid as her son-in-law? I find both these ladies totally unreasonable & irrational. They are so typical that it isn’t even funny!!!

Ali is so over Aabro now that even Aabro has understood that things aren’t the same anymore. Ali gets to meet his mother the moment he enters his home & he then makes it his room where Aabro is waiting for him, but in those few minutes, Zubaida fills him up with so much hatred & fabricated version of her self-pity stories that he turns against Aabro & acts like a typical mama’s boy who has no sense of reasonability & balance. This entire episode pretty much revolved around the same scenario where Ali was hating Aabro more & more because he chose to believe what his mother said & didn’t give a chance to Aabro to explain herself.

The only good thing that happened in this episode was the practical advice Aabro’s mother Sakina gave to her daughter. Sakina knows that Aabro doesn’t have a chance to come back because of Hamid, that is why she chose to make her understand that now she has to make things work no matter how tough it gets for her. Sakina’s advice came as a breath of fresh air where she told her daughter to do what she is supposed to, by changing herself & by changing her situation so that her in laws give her the respect & her husband gives her the love she married him for. This was the only aspect of this entire episode that I liked where Aabro started thinking that she has to change herself not for anyone else, but to make things right for herself.

I really don’t understand Zubaida’s attitude towards Aabro. Yes, she hates her but how can she devoid her of the basic necessity like food & not only that, accuse her of stealing something from the kitchen, which by the way only had a sookhi roti & nothing else to offer. I also found it shocking that Zubaida chose to lie to Ali that Aabro demanded a chunk of their property, that too in front of Zafar, who himself heard what Aabro said, but he didn’t mind correcting his wife that she was telling a lie. Fauzia hasn’t gotten married yet & she hasn’t arrived in Abid’s home but she is already carrying this never-ending pain on her face which is making it hard for me to tolerate her for a split second even. I just can’t stand characters like Fauzia who are a liability on other’s shoulders & nothing else.

Anyways, the preview of the next episode didn’t seem enticing too but I have to admit, I am tired of seeing the writer holding Aabro responsible for everything while easily babysitting Ali, whereas he has committed the same mistake as Aabro. Shahida was heard saying that she couldn’t see her daughter Fauzia sharing the same roof with a ‘bhaagi hui larki’ like Aabro, which made me cringe & think of the double standards Shahida has because if Aabro eloped from her house then Ali did the same thing too, so why didn’t she consider this fact as well that her potential son-in-law Abid happens to be a brother of Ali who left his house & resorted to a court marriage as well? Why is it that only Aabro is held responsible whereas the similar thing that Ali did is being brushed under a carpet? Also, in the preview of the next episode, Zubaida is seen comparing Abid & Ali’s luck because of their life partners. Abid gets a job in MNC whereas Ali gets appointed as a peon & Zubaida blames it on Aabro too but why didn’t she for a second blame her son that he might not be capable enough to bag a good job?

I must say I am thoroughly disappointed that Umera Ahmed chose to associate herself with a project like this where the writer is turning the girl into a villain & the guy into a victim, that too for the thing they both are equally responsible for & not only that, we’re being forced to feel for him because he is torn between his unreasonable mother & immature wife. I totally agree that Aabro is wrong & everything that she is facing now is a result of what she did but Ali is not a saint too & he is looking like a loser too because he is being unable to maintain a balance between his mother & his wife. In this day & age where in our society a girl is put through so many pressures & she is held accountable for each & everything that a guy goes through, dramas like Aabro are the last thing we want to see on our screens. I really thought they’ll show us a balanced approach but nope, looks like I expected the right thing from wrong people!!! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Gul-e-Rana – Episode 16

This episode gave me few more reasons to hate Adeel’s ‘character’ – yes he doesn’t have much of a character but whatever character he has is not the least bit appealing at the moment. He is not just selfish, controlling, unfaithful, a compulsive liar and deceitful but he is also a hypocrite. On the other hand I definitely like the way Rana is sticking to her decision even though her mother is not willing to support her at all. The tables have turned now and my feelings about the leading characters in this play have definitely changed after watching the latest developments. Watching Asher Bhai take a stand for Rana was an interesting development, the change in his personality however was too sudden and difficult to relate to but he is much more likable in this avatar. He is more brave now perhaps because he is the one running the house and has the final authority. Even then I found it hard to believe that someone like him who could not even protect his own mother and sister from his father’s insulting attitude is now taking a stand for Rana. This was an unconvincing development but one that worked in Rana’s favour. Had Asher not taken a stand for her, she wouldn’t have been able to stay at his place.

gr1

Adeel’s conversations with Maria implied that he was using Rana as a ‘cover’ for all his ‘extra-curricular activities’. Now with Rana gone he doesn’t have that cover but it was good to see Maria doing exactly what she wanted. Although you feel nothing but pity for Maria’s character but Adeel deserves to be treated like that. The latest twist in the story however could have been far more appealing and convincing if it was shown in a better way. Maria told her Mamu first that Adeel asked her to marry her and was now backing out but her story changed completely by the time she reached Karachi . She acted ridiculously in front of her Mamu when the maid threw water on her; that particular scene made absolutely no sense. It was a comic scene that didn’t fit into an otherwise serious situation. There was absolutely no reason why Adeel’s father would have believed Maria since the maid told him too that she was living in Rana’s room with Adeel while Rana was in the house. Adeel’s father of course is in a very difficult situation but even then the way everything was shown was not the least bit convincing. Adeel’s dialogue about his reputation in the family was completely out of place too since so far the viewers were shown that Adeel was the most wanted bachelor and someone whose father trusted him blindly. If he really had such a reputation howcome his father knew nothing about it? And if he did know his son was that sort of a person why did he always believe Adeel and not Rana when he was in Murree?

gr2

Asher bhai is apparently not married yet therefore while the relationship between Asher and Rana is supposed to be that of a brother and sister but the viewers have been given enough reason to think that Asher might have feelings for Rana after all. For the first time I was really looking forward to an episode of this play but I must say that it was poorly scripted and executed. Except for Rana’s attitude everything else made very little sense. The latest twists in the story could have been translated on screen in a much better manner. Once again Laila and her mother’s character appeared on screen after so many episodes only when they were needed. I have said it before and I will say it again, this drama is over-crowded with characters but the writer and director both have failed to give all these characters proper screen time. Even Rana’s mother disappears when she is not needed.

I was expecting tonight’s episode to be very happening and exciting but unfortunately that was not the case. While it is good to see Adeel in a tight spot, it was nerve wracking to watch the way everything was shown. How many of you watched this latest episode of Gul-e-Rana? Do share your thoughts about it. Fawad Khan And Sonam Kapoor’s First Commercial Together

0

Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor played the lead in Fawad’s Bollywood debut Khoobsurat. These two stars are not just co-actors but they are also very good friends now. Tarang’s latest ad features Fawad Khan and Sonam Kapoor. Like all the other Tarang ads this one too has a different theme. It is inspired from the fairytale Cinderella, in which Fawad plays the prince and Sonam plays Cinderella who has to rush back home when the clock strikes 12. The twist in this age-old tale is of course the brand label Tarang which will make these magical moments last forever. Unlike all the other commercials of Tarang this one does not have a very upbeat song.

Normally when girls get married they move to another house and have to adjust to a new family but for me everything changed. I had a very busy life before marriage, I was going to the University in the morning, doing shoots in the evening and was up all night doing assignments. When I was expecting Almir, I left my work and the University had finished too so I was home all day long. It was then that I used to take out all my frustration on Kanwar.”

1

Kanwar said that their real life love story is very filmi. He said,

“We met on the sets of our first drama together. Gradually I realized that we have a lot in common and I really liked her but she was very young at that time and I did not want to hurt her in any way. We were separated and out of touch for a long time after that.”

Mana Ka Gharana – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, I enjoyed watching this episode & I think they are finally taking the story forward which is great & which was highly required. This drama still has a very fresh & nice feel to it, which keeps me looking forward to its episodes. Yes, it’s a fact that a few characters have stopped making sense completely, but the other sane ones are the saving grace of Mana Ka Gharana.

Khizer is back on his feet & his bakery is running once again. Maalik returned & he got to speak to Khizer. The way Maalik looks after Khizer & the way he confides in him shows that he depends on Khizer & similarly expects Khizer to rely on him emotionally too. Maalik was actually hurt that Khizer didn’t tell him anything & tackled everything on his own. It made Maalik sad that when Khizer needed him the most, he wasn’t there to support him & he was frustrated that Khizer didn’t allow him to do anything for him. Maalik takes Khizer as his child that is why it was hard for him to accept that he was forced to act like a grown up & deal with everything on his own. I really like the concern Maalik shows towards Khizer & the love he has for him. It has to be one of my favorite aspect of the drama along with the relation Khizer & Happy share, their conversations bring a smile on my face too.

If I haven’t said it enough already, I’ll say it again. I actually don’t get why Gul Bahar lives in that house & why is she being welcomed like a family member once again? Saleha is unreasonable & she is crossing all the limits to show how petty & eager she is to get her daughter married to a filthy rich man but in this scenario, Maalik’s ignore-mode annoys me. He is Gul Bahar’s husband & he is supposed to make the decision when it comes to his wife. I kept on waiting to see Maalik telling Saleha off that Gul Bahar won’t stay in their house as she makes him uncomfortable but the way he is cool with it makes the whole situation quite awkward & unconvincing.

My favorite part of this episode were the conversations that Zarri & Maalik shared. It was the very first time that Maalik subtly hinted to Zarri that she means a lot more to him than she herself knows. I guess Maalik is now working on finalizing his divorce & may be that’s why he went to Islamabad for it but they kept that part concealed. I guess we’ll find out in the episodes to come but yes, the chemistry that both Maalik & Zarri share is amazing. Zarri also wants to know what’s running in Maalik’s mind & heart that is why she keeps on asking him indirectly as to who holds more importance in his life. I so can’t wait to see Maalik & Zarri sticking together & standing up for the love they both have for each other.

Like I said before, I knew Saleha will oppose Zarri & Maalik’s wedding because she would want Maalik to get back with Gul Bahar as she now happens to be a part of Mana’s in laws. Saleha is quite selfish because despite knowing what Gul Bahar put Maalik through, she is expecting him to go out of the way & go against his will to ensure Mana’s happiness. I hate to see how Saleha is in control of everything & she gets to dictate who is supposed to do what. Just because Gul Bahar spoke against the flourishing relationship of Zarri & Maalik, Saleha immediately distant herself from Zarri & made sure that she kept them both apart so that Gul Bahar doesn’t feel uncomfortable. The 180 degree turn that Saleha is taken infuriates me so much. She had sympathy for both Maalik & Zarri because she felt for them & she knew what they both went through, so now of all the people, she should be the one supporting them as they both are entitled to lead a happy life too. Why does Saleha is turning Mana into a liability & a burden on everyone’s shoulders that others have to make sure that Mana gets what she wants & others have to fend for her happiness? Saleha can already see that things are so complicated even before Mana has gotten married, so why can’t she foresee what will happen after Mana will finally get married to Shehryaar? It is so funny that the one who Saleha hated the most is now being literally pampered by her & those whom she felt for the most are now becoming a reason for her annoyance.

Ohkay, one thing’s for sure, Mana is someone who doesn’t know how to remain happy in her life. When she had the most beautiful & caring family, she wanted to run away from them, later when she got her prince charming, she was over the moon but her happiness was short-lived as now the things that are happening in Khizer’s life are affecting her because she is not a part of it anymore. She clearly drew a line between her & Khizer & not only that, she blindly believed that Khizer did everything that Shehryaar accused him of, so now when Khizer has moved on & he has gotten himself busy, why is it causing her so much of pain? Yes, I do understand that she got jealous because Khizer was the only best friend she ever had but why didn’t she put herself in his shoes & think for a second what Khizer must’ve been through seeing Mana & Shehryaar together & also what he must’ve felt when she also thought that he was guilty of stealing her ring? If Mana is getting so affected then she should also know that Khizer must’ve gotten affected too & he must’ve gotten emotionally shattered by seeing that just because of kal ka aya hua larka, Mana doubted her bachpan ka dost. It seems that Mana wants everyone wrapped around her little finger, that is why she doesn’t want Khizer to have a life of his own. Also, I think Khizer overreacted when Laila told him that Mana sat in his car & she told her to get off. How can Khizer expect that Laila would know who Mana was when he hasn’t told her anything about his cousin? Also, even though this new entry in Khizer’s life is interesting but I still don’t get that why doesn’t Laila go around & explore the area more that too when she has come here for the first time? Seeing her spending so much time with Khizer is quite unconvincing actually!

Overall, it was a good episode. The preview suggested that Saleha will give Gul Bahar all the more reasons to walk all over her because Saleha is not holding back in telling what this proposal for her daughter means to her. Saleha is openly declaring that she is ready to go to any lengths to ensure Shehryaar & Mana’s wedding – which Gul Bahar will take full advantage of. Honestly speaking, when Saleha was praising Shehryaar & talking about how lucky Mana is & when she was telling her that Mana should put up with his tantrums because in return she will get all the material of the world, it made my eyes roll so bad that my eyes are hurting now!!! It was so not needed actually because Saleha has proved already that she is desperate so to add more to it & to tell her daughter that she should do everything to make sure that a rich man doesn’t go away from her made me detest her even more. It was funny that the same business of Shehryaar that impressed Mana was now becoming a mood spoiler for her. Oh well, this girl doesn’t know how to be happy!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mana Ka Gharana & tell me if you’re rooting for Maalik & Zarri’s marriage!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Beqasoor – Episode 15

I am glad that the story did not take the turn which I was expecting it to take. The biggest and the most important development in tonight’s episode was Sadaf’s release from prison. Sadaf managed to convince Waseem that he needed her although it would have been so much better if he realized that himself. Deep down Waseem also knows that he cannot live alone otherwise someone as stubborn as him wouldn’t have allowed Sadaf to stay in the house. I must say that it wasn’t the least bit pleasant to watch Sadaf in that helpless state after she returned to her house. She did something terribly foolish out of desperation but it was primarily because of Waseem’s actions. We did not see Sadaf bonding with anyone in the jail therefore watching her share everything that happened in the past with the other prisoner was rather odd. Someone who was just given the news that they were freed from jail wouldn’t want to spend another second in it. That particular scene would have been much more realistic if Sadaf rushed out immediately and she could perhaps say everything she needed to once she met Hira. I was shocked to hear her say that she poisoned her daughter yet again in front of a policeman!

bq

The meeting between Hira and Sadaf however was shown in a much more convincing manner. Sadaf’s doubts and fears were portrayed brilliantly by Samina Peerzada. Although she knew that Sheheryar had taken care of Hira and also helped her get out of jail but even then she wasn’t sure if she should trust him. Hira’s obsession with her ‘abu’ on the other hand is extremely annoying! Even after everything Waseem did to her, she would still much rather be him. Hira still seeks her step father’s approval and would much rather live with him.

It is actually good to see that Sheheryar hasn’t changed altogether. He wants to look after Hira but he does not want anything to do with Sadaf. He wanted to help her out and he did but we didn’t see him apologizing for any of his past mistakes. Also, the relationship between him and his woman friend and now Sehr’s Phupo shows that he is still the same person he was when Sehr met him. Sehr’s Phupo is very clever, she knows that she can only woo Sheheryar if she continues living in the house therefore while she tells Sehr enough to make sure there is a constant rift between her and her husband but at the same time she does not want her to leave Sheheryar. Javeria Abbasi is absolutely brilliant in this role. I am also watching her play a very different and more positive character in drama serial Naraz but she is definitely more convincing as Nuzhat then she is as Ayesha. It is however refreshing to see her playing different kind of roles.

bq1

Babar is back and I am waiting to find out whether he gets to meet Hira or not. Something tells me that Sheheryar wants Hira to marry his friend’s son once she is divorced – which makes me wonder why would someone like him want to marry someone like Hira. We see these rich brats falling for these seedhi sadhi haseenas all the times and most often I find it highly unconvincing. The flashback scenes in tonight’s episode seemed like fillers and some of the scenes were stretched more than necessary but it is good to know that the story is finally moving forward. Samina Peerzada is a brilliant actress but I do feel that her talent could have been utilized in a better way if she was shown playing a role that had something more to offer.
