Alvida – Episode 13

I have absolutely no complaints with tonight’s episode. Everything was covered really well in this episode and I absolutely loved the way the characters are developing. Haadi definitely feels a lot more than just care and concern for Haya. He knows that Haya is that special someone who he will never be able to replace and letting her go isn’t easy for him at all. Haya has also picked up on how Haadi is feeling therefore she expects him to take a very active part in her wedding in every way possible. I felt like Haya was only asking Haadi to do the shopping and every other thing for her wedding because she wanted to push him to the point where he will feel the same way Haya felt when he got married. Haya does not even like Rameez in that way that is why she said to Haadi that in this marriage there would definitely be 50 percent love. That 50 percent of course will come from Rameez!

It was good to see Rameez talking to Haya about their skype conversation which Farisa took over and changed the whole course of the conversation. Rameez knows that Haya is not sure even now but he is willing to go ahead with the marriage because he is very desperate to have Haya in his life. The half-hearted approval does not bother Rameez. Rameez’s character is shaping up to be very interesting so far. He appears to be the sort of person who will never judge Haya. His reply to Farisa’s comment about Haya not calling Haadi bhai made it look like he did not have a jealous bone in his body. Haadi on the other hand is having a very difficult time giving the same kind of warm welcome to Rameez. Rameez’s interactions with Haadi came as a pleasant surprise and for once I felt like Rameez was that perfect man every girl would want to marry. Rameez puts Haadi’s choice first not only because he likes his choice but also because Haya gives so much importance to Haadi’s likes and dislikes. Rameez seemed like a perfect family man today who would try his best to be as close to his wife’s family as he can. Rameez’s family however was missing in action yet again but he seemed to make up for their absence. The weakest point in Rameez’s personality however seems to be his inferiority complex. He feels like he does not deserve Haya or perhaps that he is not good enough for her.

Farisa and Saim are getting closer with every passing day and Farisa seems to be turning to Saim for solace every time Haadi puts her down just the way Haadi turns to Haya. It looked like Farisa wanted her marriage to work out now that Haya was out of the way but she is not willing to try hard enough especially when just like Haadi she has a “friend” to turn to. It is most likely that this friendship will lead to something much more. Saim kept on reminding Farisa in a subtle manner how different her life would have been with him because he knew her so well.

I am glad that Saadi is back in the picture. He is still a baby which means that not more than six months have elapsed since Haadi and Farisa got married. The confusion regarding the timeline unfortunately remains a constant. The way Haya reacted when she entered her room made it look like she hadn’t been to that room for years although she was there when she came back to her house after finding out about Aroosa’s death. Haadi has been taking good care of Haya’s things but he did not feel the need to tell Haya that. Rameez might be impressed by Haadi but Haadi does not think very highly of him at all probably because he thinks he is not good enough for Haya.

Haya’s scenes with her tayee were one of the best part of tonight’s episode. It was good to see both of them bond and it looked like this was where Haya belonged. I must say that the conversations in tonight’s episode gave a clear insight into what is actually going on in the minds of the characters. When I was done watching this episode there was absolutely no ambiguity as to where each character stood. All of these characters have come a long way since the first episode and they are still growing. For the first time tonight Rameez and Haya looked good as a couple and Sanam Jung was glowing in the mayon scene. The chemistry between all the actors coupled with some very convincing performances made this episode extra special and I really like the way the story is being taken forward. I hope that it stays this way.

The preview of the next episode looked promising therefore I am definitely looking forward to what Alvida has in store for us.

Do share your thoughts about this latest installment.

Karb – Episode 1

0

This Monday we got to see the much publicised first episode of Hum Tv’s new drama; KARB starring Adnan Siddiqui and Armeena Khan in lead roles. The drama seemed more of an eye candy than any serious stuff, which is actually ok. You need dramas like this to put your feet up and relax with. I’m a little disappointed with the cast, Adnan Siddiqui is a wonderful actor but looks a bit old for this character especially because Armeena looks and behaves a little more immaturely than she usually does in this play :)

Mostly we are just introduced to characters and shown two different households with very different set of values and rules. Hamza (Adnan) is a very mature and grounded man, determined to help out his family from the financial crisis they are in. Hania (Armeena) on the other hand doesn’t have any such problem. They seem very well to do and every single person refers to themselves as *hum*. I didn’t know people still speak like that. Her dad seems to have nothing much to do except looking after the well being of his wife and daughter and preparing them fresh drinks in the morning. Another eye opener that men like him still exist :)

A fresh breath was the way Saba Faisal was so easy on her daughter in law too; doesn’t mind her watching TV rather than cooking. A very different scenario from typical dramas. So glad about it.

Hania’s friend Noor ul Ain is Hamza’s younger sister and the exact opposite of Hania. While we saw Hania everywhere like on the trees, in the park, on the roof, at her friend’s terrace, Ainaa is found either in the kitchen or elsewhere in the house cleaning :)

In spit of all these differences, Hania is very much infatuated with Hamza who is least bothered about this fact. He wants a mature, sensible, caring and homemaking woman, none of which can be said about Hania so we can duly predict the trouble that is coming both their ways as the play will unfold.

Hamza’s sister Alia is shown to be a very domestic and loyal wife to her currently jobless husband Afaq. I don’t know if it’s just me or not but Alia and Afaq look quite aged for their roles too. Maybe they have been married for fifteen or so years and did not have a child. If we get to see that sometime, then I’ll understand but right now I gather they are just shown a few years into marriage.

Looking forward to Armeena’s tactics to get the proud owner of Tiger to notice her. It’s going to be a fun drama, interesting in the way of just enjoying rather than any real theories coming out of it.

Share your thought please.

Maryam – Episode 6

0

This episode of Maryam was sad, interesting but predictable. What I feared about Ibrahim Shah became true and he left this world without telling Aman all that he had realised about Firdous Begum.

Amman’s sadness was very well played by Faisal Qureshi. Here is a man who has lost his one and only real parent and that too so suddenly. On top of all that, his stepmother starts accusing Maryam right on the funeral day and asks Aman to throw her out of the house which ofcourse he doesn’t do. Amman’s aggression towards Sheraz was also very natural. Sheraz was crossing his limits and Aman knows how to protect his wife from ill treatment.
Firdous Begum is so versatile that on one hand she is a today’s woman with an insight into business and style and yet she is the typical age old model of a mother in law who can go to any extent to trouble her bahu; calling her manhoos and playing the victim in front of her son. Speaking of which, she is so harsh and manipulative even towards her real son’s wife.

The lawyer and property scene was so predictable and been played so much before in so many movies that it made no impression at all. Thankfully they didn’t make more of a drama out of it in the drawing room as seen so many times before. The will obviously is false and everybody knows it but their best bet is Aman’s decency which he proved again by accepting the will despite Maryam’s objections. Their relationship is portrayed very well, with Aman being so polite and patient that Maryam doesn’t argue much with him, despite being very verbal about the unfairness of it all. That’s precisely why she doesn’t want her father to interfere after sharing her concerns with him. I’m not a very big Mawra Hocane’s fan but she is looking genuinely pretty in this play and acting out the part of Maryam very well.
The stand off between Aman and Behram wasn’t really meaningful at the moment but I think it’s paving a way to show the extent of jealousy Behram keeps in his heart, with which he will bring about the turning point in Aman’s life and his marriage. I’m curious wether Maryam’s in laws will also have a part in it or not.

The angle which I’m not the least interested in at all is Salman’s interest in Noor and after seeing Salman’s mom, I wonder why would Maryam want her sister to be involved in such a family. She is certainly not shown to be as cunning as to plan their union to get Salman on her side rather than his mom. No that’s not Maryam. So I wonder why. Maybe we’ll have an answer in the upcoming episodes as to the part Salman’s infatuation will play.

Would love to hear your views about the episode xxx

“No One In Bollywood Forces You To Be Bold” – Mawra Hocane

0

Mawra Hocane talked about her recent experience with the Bollywood producers and directors in Farah Hussain’s Morning Show. Mawra Hocane made it very clear that she is not going to do any such acts in her films which will be unacceptable for her Pakistani fans. She said that this is not the first time she was offered a Bollywood film but this was the first time that she chose to be a part of the Bollywood venture because every time she got an offer the sentiments and expectations of the viewers in Pakistan were at the back of her mind.

mawra 5

Mawra Hocane said that no one in Bollywood forces you to be bold, it is the choice of the actor what kind of script he wants to do. She also said that she found the producers and directors very cooperative, if you are not comfortable with a scene they will have no problem chopping it down. Mawra also told Farah that Indians had seen the Pakistani dramas now because of which they have a clear idea what the limit of Pakistani actors are so they too do not expect them to cross these limits unless someone is willing to do so.

mawra

The talented actress said that she does not have a competitive nature at all. She never works to compete with other actresses but only to give her work her best because that is what she wants to do. Does Mawra feel threatened by all the divas in Bollywood? The answer is not at all! Mawra thinks that the Pakistani drama industry was full of gifted actresses too when she started working but she made her mark here so why can’t she do the same in Bollywood.

Here is a part of Mawra’s interview in which she talked about her experience in Bollywood:

Mawra sounds very positive and we have very high hopes from her. The poster of her first Bollywood film will be out at the end of this month before that happens Mawra does not want to give any details to anyone. We wish the beautiful actress all the best.

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 08!

…& the awesomeness prevails. I am so glad that finally HUM TV has given us a promising drama which is perfect in so many ways. All the situations, all the emotions & all the characters are just so realistic that you can’t help forming a connection with them. I think Farhat Ishtiyaaq has done a brilliant job in giving us such a simple yet amazing story & for that we’re obliged.

The transition & the progress of the story couldn’t have come at a better time. I believe they took a decent amount of time to set the grounds for what will happen ahead that’s why now it feels like we’re ready to see what more do they have in store for us. I like how they didn’t keep even a single detail from getting covered because it now gives us a clear picture of so many aspects.

I liked the way the characters of Wali, Faarah, Zarmeenay, Moeez & Erum were introduced but I also liked the fact that even though the focus was shared by all these characters, the elderlies are still running the show. It was just so evident that Wali is a carbon copy of Suhaib. He is just as compassionate & responsible like Suhaib was when he was of Wali’s age. The only difference is that Wali is the eldest son which is why being responsible comes to him naturally but as far as Suhaib is concerned, he was youngest but he still did what any responsible person would do to keep his family together in one place. I loved the relation both Agha Jaan & Wali share. It is pretty obvious that Agha Jaan still has a dent in his heart because of Behroz’s absence but that place is somewhat filled by Wali’s presence in his life. I loved seeing Suhaib, Arjumand, Agha Jaan, Wali & Zarmeenay in one frame because they make a picture perfect family that is content with each other, relies on each other & is complete in so many ways.

Collage 1

Behroz has done well for himself & his family. Going by how Faarah is, it seems that Behroz has given her an edge to allow her heart to steer the course of her life. Obviously, what Behroz went through is something he doesn’t want his only child Faarah to go through as well that is why; he has given her something which he couldn’t get & that is freedom. For now I liked Faarah’s character a bit more in comparison to Wali’s because she may be blunt & spoiled in a way but she has that child-like innocence to her which draws you towards her.

Just like Suhaib said, Faarah is naturally inclined to & is very keen to know about Behroz’s family but what Ruhina said also made some sense this time around. In front of Faarah, she sketched them in the same perspective that she has based on the first & the last encounter she had with them. However, going by how much time has passed, I really thought we’d get to see them all a bit loosened up but seems like both Ruhina & Behroz have bottled up that bitter memory which is why, they can’t seem to forget anything related to that & haven’t moved on at all.

I still feel a lot for Suhaib. Even though he compromised in his life & somehow found a way to just be happy with what he got, he still doesn’t deserve to get rebuked by Behroz time & again. It seems that Suhaib has been trying really hard to bring Agha Jaan & Behroz together for the past 20 years but ohkay, even if Behroz doesn’t want to go back to Agha Jaan, the least he could do was just be a bit more candid & cordial with Suhaib because by the end of the day, Suhaib is not at fault so he shouldn’t be facing the brunt too. I found Behroz just as unreasonable as he was before & like I said, I really thought I’d see him getting a bit easier but he seems quite incapable of that. All the things that Suhaib said went to show how eager he was & how much he wanted to bring his family back together but seems like he’ll have to try a bit more.

Collage 2

One thing that I found interesting was that after Behroz’s meeting with Suhaib, Behroz resorted to lying & he seemed pretty comfortable with that. It’s understandable that he didn’t want Faarah to know who that ‘uncle’ specifically was but he couldn’t bring himself to share that detail with Ruhina too & that kind of makes me question the strength of their relationship. Yes, they are very much in love & are very happy with each other but where’s that bonding & where’s that comfort of relying on each other, which is a pivotal part of any husband & wife’s relation? Behroz is very happy with Ruhina & he is satisfied with how his life has shaped up but it still feels that he doesn’t rely on his wife emotionally & that all of a sudden makes their relation seem a bit weak. As far as Ruhina is concerned, Suhaib in just one visit could see & feel the restlessness Behroz’s face was embodying but why is it that in these last 20 years, Ruhina couldn’t understand that Behroz was struggling within & why didn’t she give him an edge to channel out all the things that were building inside him? Yes, I do understand that Ruhina has all the reasons to be bitter about Behroz’s family but she still seems selfish in a way that she is happy that Behroz has nothing to do with his family anymore. She can have the luxury of being in touch with her family but when it comes to Behroz, she can’t overlook that one incident & has been harbouring grudges ever since. I feel if Ruhina will move on, Behroz will move on too but just because they don’t speak about that subject, they both are stuck in a limbo.

I enjoyed the tiff Faarah had with Erum & all the things Zohra said were exactly what any typical relative would say. She isn’t as smitten with Faarah as Tajjamul & to some extent Moeez is & that makes her quite uncomfortable. It is too obvious that Ruhina likes Moeez & if she’d have to choose a guy for Faarah, she would definitely pick Moeez because she has always held him close to her heart but sadly for Ruhina, she doesn’t know that those people whom she refers to as ‘jahil’ will enter Faarah’s life & will change everything.

It was a beautiful episode & all the stories are being told perfectly. I loved the outlook of all the characters & I am glad that the makeup team resorted to a very natural & no-makeup makeup look for Maya Ali because she seems very youthful & fits the bill of a young & quirky character. Osman Khalid Butt didn’t get much coverage but he seemed a little too stiff at the moment, may be that’s the demand of his character, so we’ll see but overall, all the new additional actors performed brilliantly & I like the naturalness of their acting. The director has done an amazing job in keeping the acting as effortless as possible. I did miss the presence of Bedaar Khan & Yasmeen, they both were two beautiful characters. The preview of next episode seemed interesting too & oh, the reappearance of Laila’s character was definitely something none of us expected. I think Suhaib will get to share a few words with her & she will serve the purpose of being a friend who’ll be all ears to his feelings because even he can’t say much in front of Arjumand as he knows she has a scar in her heart too. Can’t wait to see more. Please share your say on this episode & let me know how much did you enjoy watching it? :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Dusri Biwi- Khatam Shud!

And exactly at 8:54 p.m, for one last time, Biwi No.1 and Biwi No.2 came twirling back to their piya and the piya glanced at Biwi No.1 (I still don’t know what for) and ta-da- ”Dursi Biwi” came to an end! Here’s to not having to put up with any more what-on-earth-am-I-watching feelings, BHAI BHAI tantrums, OTT supporting characters, aaja-piya-mein-ne-tere, ishq-mein-jeena-seekha background feats, extra-long, excruciatingly annoying & forced crying sequences,  baby-snatching schemes, piya-snatching plots and I guess the best of all- no more twirling!! And if this doesn’t call for a celebration, I don’t know what does! Yep folks, life’s cool :D!

The most suitable background score for the ending scene could’ve been this poem: I love you, you love me, we are a happy family…Let’s just say that this was the most pathetic last episode I’ve ever watched and to tell you the truth, this episode alone makes all the other dusri biwi plays look a zillion times better! I couldn’t help thinking about the dusri biwi plays I have watched to date and the list includes Shukk, Aahista Aahista, Bari Aapa and others-none one of these serials showed biwi No.1 and biwi No.2 living together happily ever after so in this regard, Dusri Biwi has indeed set an unprecedented trend. Sooo creative, right? But my question is, if they really had to show something entirely different to what’s normally shown in our plays, why couldn’t they show Biwi No.1 & 2 standing on their own feet and leaving their heartless and repulsive piya for good?

gyt

Help me out, I don’t understand why on earth Aisha’s Bhai and Bhabi Jee were given soo much importance in this episode? Bhai’s monologues, Bhabi’s words of ‘wisdom’ and whatnot! ”Dusri shadi koi gunaah tou nahe. Aur Aisha kay saath yeh sab iss liay horaha hai kyunke uss nay Farah ko baddua di aur uss kay saath nainsaafi ki.” It does seem like Bhabi Jee wouldn’t mind if her husband gets married for the second time and considering how generous she is, I suggest Bhai Jee should actually consider that option! And I couldn’t believe my ears when she straight off declared that Saman went missing because karma had to get back at Aisha. Well, if that’s the case, Farah should be suffering because she is a home-wrecker and Hassan should be suffering even more because if there’s anyone to blame, it’s him! And I don’t get how one mere conversation between Bhai and Bhabi actually brought about an inqilaab in Aisha and after overhearing all of this, she actually asked Farah for forgiveness? Why does she even take her Bhabi so seriously? And I just wanted to bang my head against the wall during the whole exchange of duas scene- all of a sudden, there were so many gehri & philosophical baatain and sooo much emphasis on pul sirat, karma, baddua, dua and whatnot! After all this heavy duty karma talk, I have to ask this again: why did Hassan get away with everything? When this guy first made an appearance, he came across as someone truly in love with his first wife. But only the writer can explain why did his character take a 360 degree turn and all of a sudden, he was in love with his colleague. He married her and justified it by, ”Bus sab achanak hogaya”, he has given nothing to his wives except for tears and lies and any random person can easily tell that this guy is a loser BUT isn’t it infuriating that his wives are actually desperate about ”winning” him over? What sort of image of Pakistani women do these plays project? He’s supposed to be the ‘hero’ when he is anything but that? They make it seem like it’s actually possible for a guy to be truly & equally in love with both of his wives! When Farah first made her appearance in this play, she came across as an independent woman striving to stand on her own feet and that’s one of the reasons she didn’t like her fiance because he was suffocatingly controlling and wanted her to stop working. But it’s ironic how after her marriage to Hassan, she was confined to the four walls of her house and yet, she didn’t object for a second and was pretty much okay with it!

images

Saman’s disappearance and everything related to it was full of loopholes!! First off, the search squad included Hassan, Bhai, Bhabi and even Farah’s parents but hang on, where were the police? Secondly, Saman actually knew Farah’s number by heart? How is it possible for a little girl like her to trust her newly discovered aunty more than her own mother? Explanation, please!

But I must say that Saman finally got her happy ending. She now gets to share her room with her baby BHAI! I’m sure she must be on cloud nine! This ending didn’t work for us but it definitely worked for her :D.

And while Hassan was asking himself, ”Mujh say kia gunaah hogaya? Allah hum say bohat naraz hai!” I was hoping he’d declare it aloud that this second marriage was nothing but a HUGE mistake. I was hoping he’d ask Aisha for forgiveness once again but surprise surprise, nothing of that sort happened. And when Hassan was saying, ”Allah mujhe bemaari de deta, mujhay utha leta”, I couldn’t help thinking how wonderful that would have actually been! Even Aisha didn’t point it out to him that the reason why we are in this mess is YOU!! Instead, the scene ended with Aisha asking Hassan to donate all his money to the charity, genius, right?

Sorry to break your heart, writer, but despite your incessant attempts to prove Farah’s bechargi, I couldn’t feel a thing for Farah and that’s that! A home-wrecker is a home-wrecker. But the truth is, I didn’t feel for Aisha either. This woman, she didn’t have an ounce of self-respect. All this time she has been blaming her sautan more than her infidel husband and there were times when I just wanted her to shut Hassan up but she didn’t! She, in a way, allowed Hassan to treat her the way he did.

fa

On a serious note, I would just like to say to our writers that pleasee, get over this dusri biwi obsession!! Please do your homework because according to some stats, 17% of the families in Pakistan (one-fifth of the population) are associated with polygamy BUT the way our plays show one-to-one combats of two wives sharing one roof, let me tell you, it’s not the way things are in modern and educated Pakistani households. It’s not Arab Sheikhs we are talking about- it’s Pakistan, for God’s sake! Our society frowns upon the mention of polygamy but here I was shocked how even Farah’s parents didn’t have a problem with their damaad being a shadishuda, ek bachi ka baap! Finding a ‘bachelor’ for their daughter is the first and foremost priority of parents and everything else comes after that so the kind of parents shown here are, abnormal! And there’s no dearth of eligible bachelors in Karachi but here they made it as if the only eligible bachelor in town was an over possessive and destructively impulsive maniac *drumrolls* Amir!

Lastly, the promotion of this play was repulsive to say the least. The facebook page of Dusri Biwi (it’s an officially Facebook certified page, just so you know :P) promoted it through asking questions that were downright lame and absurd. The promotional teasers relied so much on overdressed ladies, heavy jewellery, maathapattian and ohh how can I forget, TWIRLING! Haha, this drama actually gives  a whole new meaning to ‘twirling’ :D.

All the actors in this play disappointed me to no end. I wasn’t expecting this from Fahad Mustafa and his performance throughout the play was pathetic. Hareem Farooq’s performance lacked passion (not that I blame her for losing her interest) and Maha Warsi was so-so. By the way, in an interview with Dawn, Fahad Mustafa talked about Dusri Biwi and said, ””We’re aiming for a different ambiance, a very contemporary look.” Umm, where was that ‘contemporary look? Am I the only one who missed it?

I just came across this amazing tweet:

10924778_803700686387724_203565166393532132_n

This play has been a disaster but in future, if you ever feel like you need a morale booster, just take a deep breath and remind yourself: if I can make it through Dusri Biwi alive, I can handle anything!! Haha, so, what are your thoughts on the last episode? Voice your views!

Zidd – Last Episode!

Hawww!!! Ye kya tha??? LOL! Even though these were the happiest 37 minutes of my reviewing life, but still, the team of Zidd succeeded in making my blood boil for the last time as well. I was happy not because I found the purpose of this drama, not because I understood what everyone wanted, not because the characters & their gibberish started making sense, but because this was the last episode & I actually felt free but I am equally annoyed because I wasted 19 weeks on such a senseless mindless drama.

This episode was all about Zee & her attempts of getting back with Omar & Saman’s taunts to her. I still don’t understand when Saman knew Zainab was Omar’s ex-wife & she had clearly mentioned her intentions to Saman, why was she taken aback by seeing Zainab finding Omar’s shoulder to cry on? It was Omar who kept on saying he was uncomfortable with Zee being in his house but Saman couldn’t understand it, so the reaction that followed was totally unrequired. The whole yelling & screaming about how she trusted a woman & how she shouldn’t have done that was totally uncalled for. I still don’t understand what was Saman’s purpose of being so courteous to an uncourteous Zainab? I must say Maya Ali has acted terribly in this drama & the last episode sealed the deal.

They really thought keeping an open ending would be the best idea but let me tell you the truth, it was not. Like I said in my previous review that it would become too late for Saman & this is exactly what happened, just when she decided she wanted to make things work with Omar, he decided to part ways with her but that too for her benefit so why did she let her overrated, overstated Zidd come in between? Why couldn’t she just tell him that she was now ready to give this marriage a chance?

The ending scene was totally pathetic where Saman blamed everything on her Zidd but let me tell you, Zidd is just an emotion & is a habit that can be mended! It’s not a disease that you’re born with & it’s also not something that you can’t control. Yes, we get that message loud & clear that the writer wanted to show how Zidd ruins everyone’s life but was it just so hard for her to actually make a complete ending by showing some normal transitions in every character? Why didn’t the writer show that Saman was tired of being stubborn & she wanted to put everything behind & start afresh & ohkay, even if she decided that, why didn’t she let those feelings surface in front of Omar? Why didn’t the writer show that Saman learned from her mistakes & she was tired of chasing the happiness which was right under her nose? Omar told her to walk out & she walked out without saying a word & very easily she blamed her Zidd for it whereas she should’ve blamed herself for thinking of herself as some condescending queen whereas in reality she was nothing!

I know the dramas that are shot in America are very tempting for the entire cast & crew because it looks more like a vacation to them & seems like HUM’s Production house really has enough money to waste on these pathetic stories so my suggestion to all those who grab the opportunity of working in substandard dramas just because they’re being shot in America is; that after every year or two they should sign a petition & appeal to HUM’s production house to sponsor their trip where they can all laugh & enjoy & live their short-lived American dream & come back fresh minded without having to mix work with pleasure because this whole idea of shooting pathetic scripts in America with the purpose of attracting viewers is insane & does no good. We want simple & good stories even if they’re shot in Pakistan. HUM TV needs to understand that we don’t care about the locations; all that we care about is getting to see a good story coupled with some sane & normal characters, so they should stop wasting their money on these brain-dead scripts once & for all.

Maya Ali was thoroughly disappointing in this drama. Yes, she has those big expressive eyes & the director relied a lot on her eyes to deliver what her mouth couldn’t because she had no dialogues to begin with but looks like the writer & even the director weren’t sure about what expressions or feelings they wanted her to convey because she looked like a mindless zombie hovering around clueless. I can’t understand that the character which started at such a strong note would become so pathetic by the end of the drama & Maya Ali seemed totally out of her zone because she was trying too hard to get her acting out of her but she failed miserably. Nousheen Shah succeeded in making a fool out of herself & I wish I don’t see her on TV for the next couple of years at least. Rubab Hashim was good in acting but my advice to her is to get a foundation shade that matches her chin area & she MUST get rid of that orange lipstick, shimmery eye-shades & she MUST get a clip to keep her fringe in place. Ahsan Khan, well the less said the better & my word to the writer; we know you’re capable of writing amazing scripts, so you should stick to your niche & stick to what you excel in because this experiment rather this Zidd of yours actually wasted a lot of people’s time & energy. Anyways, share your thoughts please & let me know how happy are you that this ZIDD ended!!!

“Ahmed Had Innumerable Affairs And He Was Very Voilent” – Humaira Arshad

0

Humaira Arshad and Ahmed Butt have been married for many years. They also have a son from their marriage but it looks like the differences between these two which were never a secret appear to have taken a very ugly turn. Humaira Arshad always used to give hints in different shows in which the couple appeared together that Ahmed Butt wasn’t a very loyal husband but this time she called a Press Conference in which she shared everything traumatic that had happened to her in all these years of being married to Ahmed Butt.

In this Press Conference Humaira said, “Ahmed aor uske bhai aqeel butt ko bhet mertaba galat kamo me mulawwis paya lakin apni izzat ki khatir khamosh rahi hoo. Ahmed ke lerkio se talluqat hai jab bhi mene usko mana kia usne darjano baar mujhper tashadud kia aor yeh bhi dhamki di ke mai tumhare mu per tezab phenk duga. chend roz pehle wo hamare bete ko apni maa ke gher le gya aor 4 din tek waha rakha. Ab ahmed ka mutaliba hai ke mai usko 3 crore rupees du lakin ab mai uski black mailing me nahi aawgi. Ab hamare raste mukammal torper alag hai aor mai kisi terha ikhatte nahi reh sakte”.

Translation;

“I caught Ahmed and his brother Aqeel Butt involved in wrong activities many times but to save myself from embarrassment I stayed quiet. Ahmed has affairs with many girls but every time I asked him to stop he reacted by being violent and also threatened that he will throw acid on my face. Few days back he took our son to his mother’s house and did not bring him back for four days. Now Ahmed wants me to give him 3o million rupees but I am not falling for his blackmailing now. We are going our separate ways now and there is no way that we can live together now.”

humaira

This is like an official statement in which Humaira Arshad publicly declared that she could not live with Ahmed Butt anymore. Ahmed Butt talked to the press too later and said that his wife had filed a bogus case against him kidnapping his son. He also said that he did not want this marriage to end because that wouldn’t be good for his son. He also said that he was never violent with his wife. He also went on to say that he never demanded any money from his wife.

Ahmed said that Humaira Arshad and someone named Sakhi Sarwar were 50% partners in all the properties. He said that this was quite a coincidence that she started to hurl accusations at him when he objected to this.

Shart – Episode 05!

LOL! If you’re seriously looking to kill some time & want to watch a drama that makes no sense whatsoever, you can tune to Shart every Friday night because this drama has a similar pattern which is pretty much on the loop for now & this drama isn’t offering much because seems like they have nothing to show in the first place.

All the episodes of Shart are almost similar where they show us similar scenes every single time but in a different light. Every episode has a conversation of Afroz & Moomal about the bet they’re involved in. Every episode shows a scene or two about how hard Sameer is trying & the hard time he’s getting because of his boss. Every episode shows a cringe worthy scene where Emaad is eyeing Moomal & is on a trip of his own. Every episode shows a scene where Moomal is flirting with Emaad. Every episode shows how regretful Moomal is. Every episode shows Afroz laughing like a fool at the misery that’s about to overcome her life & then after every couple of episodes they show us a new character who makes an entry to impress Moomal & is so desperate that he puts all the desperado of the Earth, to shame.

Well, before Emaad was firing his staff, he should’ve fired Moomal instead because he pretty much knows she is making shameless passes at him & when people suss that, they talk about it so why was it so hard for Emaad to accept the fact that people are getting such vibes from both of them? Or even if not from Emaad, then from Moomal for sure? Looks like he will also end up firing Afroz out of his life once she will speak about him & Moomal in the same context!

To be honest, I felt sick when I heard Emaad say this was more like an ‘imtehaan’ for him after he unwillingly eavesdropped on both Moomal & Afroz. Well, I’ve got news for you Mr. Shiny Emaad, this is no imtehaan, this is a crystal clear situation where you are supposed to makes some changes in your life. Why is it so hard for him to just chuck Moomal out of his home? Yes, he is considering that but then looking at the way Afroz is hell bent on ruining her life, she will talk him out of it but then again, Afroz is a very flexible person who follows & believes what everyone else says or does, so it shouldn’t be a problem for Emaad to make a decision with finality about Moomal. I believe IF – after he has heard correctly what Moomal & Afroz spoke about, he doesn’t maintain a distance from Moomal then he is pretty much following the proverb which says ‘fasla na rakhain, pyaar hone dain’.

Did they really think that we’ll find Moomal (read Ayesha Khan) cute in such a bizarre portrayal of a home-wrecker? What makes it more difficult is the way she tries to act as if she’s in touch with her conscience by reminding Afroz time & again about how much she doesn’t want her to lose? The whole situation of this drama is so bizarre that it’s not even funny but I must ask, was Ayesha Khan so desperately looking for a work that she chose whatever gibberish came her way?

Oh so Sherry alias Desperado was absolutely annoying. This guy had no self-respect & even not even much brains to make a little more inquiry about Moomal before even asking her out on a dinner date? How much time it must’ve cost him to ask questions like who Moomal was, where did she come from? What was happening in her life & stuff like that? The whole dinner scene was really hideous where Emaad was having a moment of glory just because Moomal was point blank refusing to communicate normally with Mr. Desperado. It looked like Emaad felt victorious that Moomal was saving herself for him & it for sure was absolutely annoying.

I think Sameer’s track is totally one dimensional & has nothing to offer at all. Looking at Sofia saying that he isn’t focused & he isn’t fit to become a project head was totally unexpected because if there’s any person who treats his career as a priority is Sameer. What more proof does Sofia need when Sameer has staked his personal life just to shape up his career? Yes, they’re trying to show that Sameer is pretty much rattled deep within just because of Moomal’s absence in his life but then the events don’t make it seem convincing at all. Sameer just flipped out & got demotivated because he lost the project he was so eagerly working on so if Sofia wants to put a blame on someone, she should do that on herself because she made Sameer like that & his personal life has got nothing to do with his performance at work.

This episode didn’t offer anything new at all & in fact had quite a lot of mistakes when it came to the continuity in their dressing which makes it hard to follow the flow of scenes. Afroz was dressed in a blue & white kurta throughout the dinner & even in the succeeding scene where she conversed about the bet. Later, the same night probably a few minutes after that conversation, when she appeared after Emaad eavesdropped; she was seen wearing a beige/pink kurta? Similar thing happened with Moomal as well, where they showed it a single day at office & she was seen wearing a black & pink/red kurta & makes an appeal for the employee’s increment. Later, when Emaad is looking at her through the CCTV, she was dressed in something entirely different & after that when she comes back from the office, she was again wearing the same black/pink/red kurta that she wore before? It actually looked like it was a new day where she was gesticulating to make Emaad smile? I know all these things can be ignored but they do show the amount of interest the drama-making team had while filming this drama & it also showcases the lack of attention to detail. Anyways, share your views about this episode & let me know what do you think about this whole situation?

Mera Naam Yousuf Hai – Episode 9

I have only one complaint with this latest episode – it ended too quickly! Mera Naam Yousuf Hai always proves to be very engaging and it always leaves you wanting more of the beautiful characters and their stories every time it ends. Zulekha has finally fallen for Yousuf. In the last episode most of us felt like Zulekha was being selfish but in this episode when Zulekha thinks of Yousuf right from their first meeting to the last one I was pretty sure that Yousuf was the person she had been waiting and looking for all her life. Zulekha told Hajra in one of the previous episodes that whenever she got married she would like it to be a love marriage, it was just a matter of finding the right person. The fact that Zulekha tried her best to stop this marriage but decided to leave things to fate when the marriage was inevitable made it easy for me to connect to her character. Zulekha is strong but she also knows when to surrender. That is probably the only difference between Zulekha and Afia Begum, both of them like to have their own way but unlike Afia Zulekha is not willing to put everything at stake.

Yousuf and Daa Ji’s plan was pure genius, I am sure many viewers like me did not see that coming at all. Ultimately what they did will land them in trouble but they managed to stop the marriage for now and the preview of the next episode showed that what Yousuf did will finally prove to Zulekha that everything that he said about loving Zulekha was true. Zulekha’s conversation with Hajra showed that she needed reassurance. She wants to be loved the way Yousuf loves her but she also had a difficult time accepting that his feelings for her were genuine. Yousuf’s conversations with Madiha went to show how different their views about love were. Yousuf believes that everything is fair in love and war but Madiha feels that putting someone’s life in danger is never justified which was the primary reason why she never told Yousuf about Zulekha’s nikkah. Madiha is a very sensible girl she tried to stop her brother from telling Yousuf what was going on but when it was inevitable she decided to tell him herself which I thought was a very wise move.

mnyh

The scenes with Madiha and Daa Ji in them were touching as usual. The ” tumhei ami aba yaad aa rahey thay” was the perfect way to start a conversation which was not an easy one to initiate. Daa Ji understands what Madiha is going through and he feels helpless but at the same time he is also very convinced that Yousuf should be with Zulekha. Noor Mohammad’s ” kitne kaam adhure reh gaye” dialogue went to prove that he was looking forward to his nikkah with Bushra more than Zulekha’s wedding. Zulekha’s wedding was only important to him because that was the only way he was going to get married to Bushra.

The best thing about this play are the beautiful characters, apt portrayals and the perfect direction. I love the attention to detail; the samosas, the hot tea and the beautifully shot scenes kya baat hai! All the actors including Maya Ali acted exceptionally well in tonight’s episode. I missed Yousuf’s parents in tonight’s episode.

The preview of the next episode suggested that Yousuf is going to get into trouble once again but this time Zulekha will feel very differently about the situation. MNYH is the perfect play to watch on a Friday night when you want to relax, unwind and be entertained.

Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Khuda Dekh Raha Hai – Episode 11!

Once again, it was a simple but an interesting episode. I like how things are unfolding in this drama where everyone is realizing one thing or the other & deep down their guilt & regret is multiplying. The story is pretty decent & simple but the way things are being told makes it an interesting drama to tune to.

Sadly, Zoya is finding it hard to deal with an entirely different family set up she has stepped into. Every single day, every single time she is reminded of the fact about how different her husband & his family’s values are. Zoya comes from a very simple background in which no matter what Khalida does on her own, she at least instilled some morals & ethics in her offspring & now when Zoya is asked to compromise on the same morals & ethics, she feels suffocated. Slowly & gradually, Zoya is learning a lot more about Adnan’s dirty family secrets which are shocking as well as sickening for her.

I liked the fact that for the first time Moeez himself made Khalida realize about the sort of a person he is. It was good to see Khalida being guilty & ashamed for what she has done with Zoya because deep down she knows who was better for her daughter but just because it was Moeez she considered as her priority, Khalida succumbed to his pressures & sealed a wrong deal of Zoya’s fate.

Adnan is a very difficult person to be with. He is like that because his parents allowed him to become like that. They never really tried to shape up his character or teach him a thing or two about how to be a good person & about morality but instead everything he ever did was always brushed under the carpet & he was never rebuked for it which is why sadly, Zoya is now facing the brunt of his bad upbringing. Even though Zoya’s MIL does feel bad for her but still by the end of the day, like a typical woman she is, she only supports her son because she knows she can’t do anything to change him so she thinks the only best solution is to make Zoya change & adapt to Adnan’s demands because according to her, Zoya comes from such a place where she can be easily moulded as she hasn’t seen such luxuries before.

It was interesting to see Akhtar finding out everything about Adnan before Khalida did because in that case, she either wouldn’t have believed what had seen or she would’ve concealed everything from Akhtar. Akhtar knew something was wrong because he could see that in Zoya’s eyes but Khalida could not or in fact Khalida didn’t want to see that because that would’ve been more like a reflection of her wrongdoing. Khalida saw how furious Akhtar was that is why she ended up believing what Zoya said, even though she told her daughter to compromise, she had to believe in Zoya’s confessions because she heard Akhtar testify against Adnan too.

I am sure this thing will create more problems for Zoya because she has yet to deal with Sanam & Sanam will do everything to make Moeez’s family look bad & wouldn’t allow anyone to say a word about her own family. I am interested to see what’ll happen ahead & how this drama will end. Share your thoughts please.

Are You Ready To Be A Star?

0

Geo TV’s latest initiative to find talent of all kinds in Pakistan is a step towards the right direction. Pakistan is a country which has no dearth of talented people but there is without any doubt a shortage of platforms where these people can showcase their talent. Geo TV’s initiative “Are You Ready To Be A Star” is all encompassing because there is no age barrier and people having any kind of talent can be a part of this talent hunt. Those gifted performers who are shortlisted by Geo’s team which composes of judges who are leading in their fields will polish the skills of these people even further and will give a kick start to their career by including them in projects which will ensure that their talent is seen by all.

10 9 8

Geo TV has done something which is rather original by going to different educational institutions and letting the students there have an opportunity to show what they have got. So Geo is not making these people come to them but it is going to them which means that they are looking out for the interest of those who want to be stars just as much as their own. Until now the team of “Are You Ready To Be A Star” has gone to leading institutions in Lahore like Kinnaird College, LUMS and Beaconhouse National University.

1

Keeping into consideration that not all talented people go to institutions like the ones they have been visiting till now Geo has also given those people an opportunity who might not be that well off by having open auditions for anyone who wants to be a part of this talent hunt on a day which is a public holiday which is May 1st. The interested candidates will be registered from 9 to 11 am and the auditions will start after that. Even kids can take part in this talent hunt program.

2 3 5

Geo’s attempt to find talent in every nook and corner of Lahore has proved to be a very successful exercise till now and people are waiting for their team to make their presence felt in other cities of Pakistan as well. This is not the first time that Geo has tried to give an opportunity to people to bring their talent to light. We appreciate Geo’s effort and hope that other television channels will follow their lead!

0

Aamir Liaquat has been shuffling channels a lot in the past few years but every time he comes back to Geo TV. This time the news is that HUM is the highest bidder for the man who is very popular! Aamir Liaquat’s Ramadan transmission is very popular whichever channel it airs from hence every year we see channels fighting over him like he is the one who will get them all the viewership.

1 2

Right now Aamir Liaquat is hosting Geo TV’s Morning Show but the news is that very soon Nadia Hussain will be taking over the Morning Show. Aamir Liaquat has already been involved in talks with HUM and it is very likely that this year he will be giving away gifts on HUM and not Express, ARY or Geo!

Ishq Parast- Episode 11

Now that was one beautiful episode! Everything about it was so amazing- the direction, execution,  the powerful chemistry between the actors and best of all, what really sealed the deal for me today were the hard-hitting dialogues. I find Ishq Parast quite underrated because up till now, I haven’t had any problem with its story or execution but I guess it’s not gaining the viewership it deserves.

Dua finally mustered up the courage to declare it aloud what her relationship with Zohaib means to her and all this time she didn’t voice her feelings in front of Zohaib just because she was waiting for him to sense that she doesn’t want this relationship to end which, if you ask me, was a little demanding of her because Zohaib has already done so much to make this relationship work and therefore, I am very glad that this time around it was Dua who took the first step to save her marriage. The scene in which she tears the divorce papers was perfect! I really liked the way Dua apologized to Zohaib for wasting the most precious moments a couple can enjoy but what I liked even more was how Zohaib responded to it. The reenactment of the wedding night scene was so cute and I am in awe of the chemistry Armeena and Jibran share- they look absolutely beautiful together! I am happy for Dua because she has found a gentleman who loves her and gives her the respect she’s entitled to and now that she has finally made a decision, she doesn’t have anything to feel bad about. But more than that, I am happy for Zohaib because if there’s any one who deserves all the happiness in the world, it’s him! It’s wonderful to see one of your favourite characters enjoying the reward of their patience and it’s an absolute joy seeing Zohaib getting his fair share of happiness- he deserves every bit of it!

ep11

Mujhay tum pe bohat tars ata hai, Hamza. Tum nay apnay junoon ki wajah say sab kuch kho diya aur uss nay apnay sukoon ki wajah say sab kuch jeet liya. I loved this dialogue because Hamza was in dire need of that reality check and I think Dua said this not because she wanted to hurt Hamza but because she wanted him to realize that it’s a high time he lets go of his anger, frustration & junoon. This confrontation also showed that Dua’s a changed person now- being with Zohaib has changed her views about love and that of course, for the better. The scene in which Hamza burns the things associated with Dua’s memories was a heartrending one. It’s true- people come and go, but their memories stay with you for a long time. While watching this scene, I couldn’t help wondering how nice it would have been only if Hamza had burned the things that remind him of Dua to move on and start anew- my wishful thinking!

You know, Pasha Sahib’s outbursts are ticking me off big time! I hope Dua mends ties with her parents because this track is getting monotonous now, with the same old dialogues being repeated over and over again.

Zohaib, Dua, Arsala, Khala- they all make a perfect family! The showdown between Hamza and Dua suggests that there’s a lot to come because the former is on ‘MissionDestroyDua’ :P. The last scene involving Arsala’s conversation with her friend followed by Hamza pulling over his car in front of Dua’s house suggests that the next episode might show Hamza and Arsala’s first meeting! How many of you are waiting for it?

I’d have to say that the leading ladies of this play, Armeena Rana Khan and Arij Fatyma are soo beautiful :) This play is refreshing in every way! Please voice your thoughts on this installment :)

P.S: My exams are coming up so you’ll be reading the combined review of Episode 12, 13 & 14 on 22nd of May, Inshaa Allah. These are my finals so please wish me the best of luck :D. But for the Dusri Biwi followers, you’ll find the review of the last episode the day it goes on-air :)

Alvida – Episode 12

Like every other episode of Alvida this one too had its positives and negatives. I would like to focus on the positives before I discuss the negatives. Alvida definitely has a lot of unconventional scenes to its credit for instance the way Haya confronted Haadi; she said everything that needed to be said and these things are exactly what most of us long to hear in our dramas but our heroines are just not bold enough to express their feelings the way Haya did today. Haya is not being wise while making the biggest and the most important decision of her life but everything that she said to Haadi was spot on. Haadi did not have the right to tell Haya what she should do with her life when he did not even have enough confidence in her to share with her how he felt about Aroosa when he was “best friends” with Haya. Haya kept on repeating “agr aap meri jaga hotey tu parwah bhi nahi krte” because she really wants to prove to Haadi that not caring for someone you have been so close to isn’t as easy as he made it sound like. Also, the way Haya told her father that Rameez was interested in her was anything but conventional but definitely something that was totally in line with her character. Haya has been raised by two very liberal people therefore it did not come a surprise at all when she shared the way Rameez felt about her without any hesitation. It was also a pleasant surprise to see Haadi not falling for the lie which Haya’s father told him. He picked up instantly why Haya’s father wanted to know so much about Rameez and the way he expressed his frustration was also very interesting.

1

Haya had no intentions of marrying Rameez until she realized that Haadi did not want her to get very close to Rameez. Even when Haya told Haadi for the first time that Rameez had proposed to her and she was going to say yes it was quite evident that she only said that to tick Haadi off even more. Haya’s decision to marry Rameez is definitely more like an attempt to prove to Haadi that he means nothing to her any more. It was almost as if Haya was trying to prove a point and this was her way of getting back at Haadi for what he did more than anything else.

2

After watching this episode I am quite convinced too that Saim is back so that he can take revenge from Farisa. The fact that Farisa is meeting Saim without informing her husband and trusts him too with all her secrets is going to land her in trouble eventually. Farisa obviously thinks that she is the only one who can destroy people’s lives and no one can do the same to her. Farisa is manipulative and scheming but she is also naive.

3

All of Haadi’s fears about Rameez appear to be very right because Rameez seems to have an obsessive personality and he does not even want Haya’s parents to talk to his parents. Haadi appeared to be a very sensible man today who was trying to protect a friend -someone he has been very close to all these years. I did not feel like he loved Haya but his friend’s statement certainly suggested something entirely different.

4

Now for the negatives!

I did not want Farisa to have anything to do with this wedding, she has already caused everyone enough harm it would have been good if Haya made this decision and went ahead with it all on her own. Even if this decision was based on Haya’s immature agenda to make Haadi believe that she had moved on it would have been great but the fact that Farisa has a big part to play in making this first meeting happen didn’t work for me at all. Sometimes I feel like one negative person in Samira Fazal’s plays tends to control everyone’s lives in some way or the other. Had Farisa not “intervened” when Haya was talking to Rameez on skype things would have been much different. Also, Haya being okay with Farisa’s interference and later on accepting her apology was very difficult to digest. And howcome Rameez did not feel the need to talk to Haya about what she said since he was clearly shocked after hearing what she had to say? This is going to be yet another marriage which will take place because “hyper” Farisa could not mind her own business and somehow Haya just did not tell her off! How could Farisa tell Haya that she wouldn’t have married Haadi if she knew she was coming back when she talked to Haya only days before she got married to Haadi and told her it would be better if she didn’t come back. Farisa of course was trying to mend fences with Haya by telling all these stories but my question is why didn’t Haya confront her like she confronted Haadi? She was her best friend and she stabbed her in the back in the worst way possible, surely that calls for a confrontation right?

7

In the past few episodes all of us have been complaining because Haadi has been acting like he does not understand Haya at all but tonight Haadi was back to knowing Haya like the back of his hand. I had a tough time relating to the situation but then I guess the writer is trying to show that all this time Haadi did know what was going on in Haya’s mind but he was helping her move on by telling her she felt nothing for him and it was only an infatuation.

6

All the actors gave their best performances in tonight’s episode just like all the others but Sanam Jung stood out more than others. Imran Abbas makes it easy for me to ignore Haadi’s weak points and makes his character likeable. Zahid Ahmed has been very convincing throughout the play and Sara Khan is just as hyper and annoying as Farisa is meant to be! There were a few dialogues which I felt weren’t delivered the way they should have been by Lubna Aslam.

Overall, this was another happening episode of Alvida which gives you a lot to talk about, few things to complain about and something to look forward to! BTW anyone else wondering where Saadi is?

Do share your thoughts about this latest installment.

Maryam – Episode 1 – 5

0

Maryam is a new drama serial that has started airing from Tuesday, 31st March. They have told a lot of story in the promos and preview so we already know that Mawra Hocane and Faisal Qureshi will get married and Ally Khan will create trouble in paradise by kidnapping Mawra. The first episode basically just served to introduce us to the characters.

The episode started with Sohail Asghar playing a very sweet widowed father to his two daughters, Noor and Maryam. All three of them are shown to be very close and caring for each other. Noor seems to be the sensible mature daughter while our heroine Mawra Hocane plays the bubbly Maryam. She is quite lively and headstrong as shown by the “kawwa” scene, though it didn’t make much of a sense except probably showing that Maryam is different and daring in her choices.

In Faisal Qureshi’s household, there is a glaring difference between him and his brother played by Kamran Jillani in both moral values and financial responsibility. Kamran (Sheraz) spoils a project and lies to their dad and his mother about it, which is pointed out very assuredly by Faisal Qureshi aka our hero Amman. Now why is Sheraz’s wife all clad in white and crying hysterically after that seems a bit too much but probably we’ll get to know her better in later episodes and understand it. Uzma Gillani is Amman’s stepmom and her approach is quite usual. Predictably, she wants her good-for-nothing son to move ahead of Amman in the company and in their father’s opinion.

Maryam first meets Amman when her friend Rida does his interview and she takes his pictures. She is quite infatuated by his personality from the very start which is quite understandable though as Amman is shown to have every dreamy quality in him. He is rich, handsome, hardworking, humble, loyal, gentle and what not :) Maryam makes an excuse for meeting him again and likes his dignified and respectful self even more. It was very cute to see him all nervous about striking the right pose, quite unlike the rich stuck up businessmen that most successful heroes seem in the first encounter. Faisal Qureshi does make a likeable character become extremely endearing by his natural charm and Mawra looks very pretty and young here. The innocence of Maryam is displayed very well by her sweet and smiley face. Their chemistry was beautiful, you could clearly see that Maryam is besotted and Amman is yet totally unassuming and clueless to what’s going on in her mind.

maryam1

Ally Khan enters as Behram and behaves like a very sick minded person which is why even Noor shies away from him. He gets insulted by Maryam when he tries to help her in his possessive villainous manner after her car breaks down. Amman comes right there and Maryam readily accepts his offer for help. The candid remark which Maryam made; YEH HOTI HAI HERO KI ENTRY made quite an impact but didn’t look very decent of Maryam to say so.
This episode ends with Maryam’s and Amman’s dads discussing Amman’s marriage which goes on to show that him and Maryam won’t have trouble getting together as their dads are already friends.

All in all it was a nice interesting start to a drama with every actor totally fitting in the mould of his or her character. Nobody seemed out of place at all. So let’s see how the drama unfolds further….

Mohabbat ka dawa karnay walon nay hamesha aurat ko hi azmaya hai….
I don’t know if its just me or every viewer is feeling irritated by the continuous repetition of this tag line… again and again and again.

mariam2

Despite this monotonous dialogue, the drama has been going well, even though it seems more like a Bollywood movie than a Pakistani play.. So far we have seen just how evil a step-mom can be and how dangerous a rejected cousin is. After a good start showing the friendship between Maryam’s and Amman’s dad, the play has had more than its share of zaalim samaj but they could not prevent the union of mature yet idealistic Amman and bubbly and optimistic Maryam. Uzma Gillani is excellent as Firdous, so much so that she is starting to give me creeps as the manipulative, cunning and multi faced woman she is. The marriage was out-rightly and then subtly opposed by her, first by blaming Maryam to be a thief and then by insulting her in that “burry lay kay ayain hain” scene.

Amman also has quite a few enemies but top of the list is his own step brother who got so frustrated by his mom’s games that he decided to get Amman killed but he lived through the attack and wrongly blames Behram for it. The way Firdous begum scolded her son for the attack was another chilling reminder of all that this woman is capable of and yet she is so sweet to both her husband and stepson that they don’t doubt her intentions over anything.

Maryam’s sister Noor is the only one who is very apprehensive about this wedding but Maryam’s enthusiasm keeps her from opposing it. The ceremony itself was nice especially the mehndi dance but Firdous managed to embarass Maryam’s dad there as well. The bridal dress was very classy and Mavra Hocane looked beautiful, though not as younger than Amman as we are repeatedly reminded.

Behram went through the trouble of setting up a targeting gunpoint on the roof and finding the perfect aim, only to decide that this is not revenge enough.. very funny :)

We have been seeing how Uzma Gillani managed to show her true colors to Maryam on her wedding night while fooling Amman at the very same time. The conversation between Maryam and Amman was very sweet. Its nice to see a man so accomplished, yet so shy and respectful when it comes to the opposite sex.

Then there is all this drama about the bangles that were not the right size and Maryam had the guts to not wear them despite her mother in law’s orders. Amman’s dad though is very sweet and asks the cook to prepare Maryam’s favourite halwa puri every Sunday. He seems such a nice and sensible man, how he remained so oblivious to Firdous’s tactics all his life seems unreal.

Just as Maryam and Amman are getting to grow more in love with each other, mother in law from hell is creating more trouble. The tradition in which she takes bride’s jewellery and Maryam’s refusal to follow any such thing was very well played. The way Amman convinces her to give her jewellery shows that he understands whats happening in his house but for love and harmony in the family, he only thinks and feels positively about his relations. Maryam eventually gives in with a heavy heart, much to Firdous’s delight who occupied too much screen space today. It may have been necessary because she carries the most powerful negative role in the play but I would have preferred more of the soft and cute scenes between our main couple than her.

Just so we dot forget Behram, he appears in the second half and after some smart talk with Amman tells him that he has bagged his 10 crore contract. Amman rushes to the office to sort it out.

Another important scene was between Anoushey and Maryam which showed that atleast Anoushey had the brain to differentiate between right and wrong, if not the guts to say so. Now we understand why she is so passive and depressed. With no parents to turn to and no child to call her own, and a husband as greedy and selfish as sheraz, its no wonder she aways cries. The red makeup around her eyes seemed fake though.

The last episode ended beautifully with the wicked witch Firdous exposed in front of her husband but the worst part was his heart attack. The same formula when the witness of all evil dies before telling anyone else and hence the villain ‘s secret remains safe :(

Hoping for uncle Ibrahim ‘s recovery so we can see anty Firdous punished but doesn’t seem likely….

Kachay Pakkay Bachay!

0

To be honest, this article is a result of the discussion that followed after one of my comments in Diyar-e-Dil’s review regarding the child stars & their pakka-pan that gets way more coverage than it’s required in our drama these days. That discussion actually got me thinking about how much we are forced to get annoyed by watching these annoying kids on screen who have no purpose to be there in a drama in the first place. Before saying anything I just want to make it clear that this article by no means is written to defame or belittle all these young actors that we often see in different dramas but it’s actually targeted at the pakka-pan that their characters embody & portray. I do appreciate their acting skills & their charm but the roles that these kids get to play & the dialogues they get to deliver aren’t very impressive & this article is strictly based on their on-screen performances.

Sorry to say, the way the writers use the child stars in our dramas is actually an exploitation of their innocence. I say that because they are made to speak such dialogues which they might not even know the meaning of, but are so mature that they don’t go with their biological age. In so many dramas, kids are made a part of the conversation or if not actively, they are always present in such scenes which are covering some mature topics by having such sort of conversations & that makes me wonder what these kids must be learning in such an environment. I also believe that the writers try to push the fact that kids are ‘innocent’ & in their innocence spree, they can go around saying anything they feel like but to be honest, kids are impressionable & their involvement just doesn’t stop when their scene is over. The kids who tend to be around their mothers when they’re watching such dramas are drawn towards such characters & they actually end up picking up a thing or two because kids tend to connect with those they see on screen who belong to the same age group as theirs.

No matter how cute a boy might be or how pretty a girl must be, most of their characters are annoying to the core & I blame the writers & then the directors for it. I’ve picked a few annoying characters that were played by the child stars & these are those who have left me speechless with their pakka-pan.

Saman of Dusri Biwi:

8

Surprise Surprise! Well no surprises there, this kid is the new peeve in town. Yes, we get it, she’s like all those kids who love to have a sibling younger to them but she takes her fixation to her brother to a whole new level & oh boy! Even though her younger brother is just an infant, I am worried about him because he doesn’t know he has a sister who’s obsessed with him *creeps*. As funny as it gets, there have been a couple of episodes that have ‘only’ revolved around how Saman’s parents are going to fetch a bhai for her & in the end, her aunty in fact her papa’s dusri biwi swooped in to provide her with one. I think when the writer had no idea about how to move the story forward; she tried to use a younger character not worrying an ounce about how annoying she will get for the viewers. The writer thought by using Saman, she will cute her way into our minds but she ended up annoying us beyond our imagination. Yes, the kid playing the role of Saman is pretty but then her character is any drama-watcher’s nightmare.

Sofia of Izteraab:

7

Who remembers this premature aunty? Again, I am only talking about her character because she was the one who not only gave a hard time to her step-mommy, who she was smitten with before she became one, but she also has a credit of going out on a date at the age of 12 years. I must say she has broken the records of all the teenagers out there when it comes to dating. Yes, she was having a hard time because her parents were going through a rough divorce & her step mommy just swooped in out of nowhere, but the way the writer tried to show her rebellion was quite questionable & should’ve been avoided. There were almost 5 – 6 episodes that were dedicated to Queen Sofia & her tantrums & it irritated me like anything!!!

Dua of Dil Ka Kya Rang Karoon:

6

Even though I am not following this drama, I did watch a couple of episodes to know what was going on in this Saturday night special drama & once again, we have a highly spoiled brat Dua who is giving her step mommy a punishment for becoming one. She is in louuu with an aunty who happens to be a patient of her father & then this kid has an audacity to say that her aunty should get married to her father & her step mommy can get married to her aunty’s husband. Awww, shooo cute, remember she’s just a kid who’s out on an innocence spree? Boo Hoo!!! The writer really didn’t know how to instill the idea of a husband/wife swap so she used this masoomiyat ka pitara to do the honours!

Ali of Kabhi Kabhi:

2

He’s the one I’d like to call a batameez bacha very frankly. He had a mother who lost her brains because she was drugging herself & then a step-dad who was just as batameez as him, or slightly more than him so obviously when he had to choose who to follow between these two role model like parents, he chose his step dad because he had an easy access to batameezi. His dialogues were absolutely annoying & so was his character.

Guddu of Mirat ul Uroos:

5

Yes, he played the role of a servant but this boy has been around for so many years & has been a part of so many dramas & sadly, I have never seen him play an age-appropriate, innocent role. I don’t know if it’s his look or what but the drama-makers actually go overboard when they write down his dialogues. Yes, he is a very good actor but when it comes to the characters he plays, he can get annoying a lot of times.

Well now that I have spoken about the kids who have actually annoyed us, there have been some child stars who were often seen in the drama just to complete the picture & didn’t have much to do or say, which I feel is the right way of making the kids a part of the drama because the writers shouldn’t rely on the kids so much to do the talking & for taking the story forward.

Roomi of Shukk:

4

That kid was not only a cutie but was innocent as well. Yes, he also got a little too smitten by his Ehtashaam uncle but then he never had to deliver some over-aged or pakkay dialogues. He was always seen around his mother without having much say in the situations & the writer didn’t rely on Roomi to take the story forward.

Maaz of Aik Pal:

3

I liked how Maaz was always a part of every conversation Noor Fatima had when she was about to die but then the kid on his own didn’t get much coverage & he fitted the picture perfectly where he was always seen in the background & was spoken about as a focal point of his mother’s concern. I liked the way the drama makers used his character to show the love his mother had for him without actually relying on him to portray that. I think Maaz is a perfect example of how kids can be made a part of the team & still have their innocence kept intact.

Sila, Alisha & Ehsaal of Chup Raho:

1

They were a part of the second half of the drama & even though they were a main part of Shiraz & even Rameen’s life, they weren’t quite pakki as the kids mentioned above. Even though they were 3 of them, their scenes never seemed annoying & neither did their characters. I liked the fact that they all got age appropriate dialogues & contributed in a positive way in this otherwise negative drama & oh then it reminds me there was Nayla too, who was capable of speaking but never got a chance to chant a single dialogue throughout the drama & then by the way, the writer relied a lot on her to take the story forward & get back at Numair but then, as far as that masoom kid wasn’t pakki, I was fine with it.

So, this is my list of some pakkay & some kachay bachay. I believe as far as the kids are only used to complete the picture or are meant to be in the background, it’s actually ohkay but to depend on them heavily & to give them a lot of coverage is a wrong trend. Share your thoughts about how you think the drama makers use these young actors & depend on them unnecessarily by taking away their innocence & force them to speak in a way which never appeals to anyone. I really believe the drama-makers & the writers should cut down on the trend of using child stars because it doesn’t do any good to them & the dependency actually showcases the lack of ideas that the writers face while writing down the scripts & situations & oh, please feel free to contribute to the list if you’ve come across any such annoying kids in the dramas!

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 07!

Wow! This drama is such a mood uplifter. Even though the scenarios are quite serious, the way the story is being told makes it appeasing to watch. I love the pace of the show for sure. Without wasting time or stopping things to focus on a single situation, the way they take the story forward & show growth in every aspect of the drama is amazing.

I didn’t quite understand why Ruhina was so taken aback by finding pictures of Agha Jaan & Suhaib in Behroz’s diary? Even if he has left them for her doesn’t mean he is not allowed to miss them or have a time alone to think about them. They are his family after all. Ruhina’s life is complete where she has a loving husband, a support of his brother, a sister in law to talk to & now a baby to complete her as well. It would’ve looked more suitable if she had encouraged Behroz to talk about his family, so that he feels at ease. Ruhina did complain about how he never shared his thoughts & feelings with her but then did she ever give him an edge to do that? When she was not on talking terms with her brother, she knew what a dent it left in her life, so I find it a little odd seeing her not being able to connect & understand what Behroz was going through.

Coll 2

I loved loved loved seeing Arjumand happy. The glow on her face & the happiness that made her eyes sparkle was absolutely brilliant. It was actually very pleasing to see Arjumand’s transition where from being negative & unthankful, she became this satisfied & happy person who was in peace with how her life unfolded. I also loved seeing Suhaib & Arjumand happy with their little Wali in the frame. The things Suhaib said about how he wants the best environment filled with love, respect & most importantly a high regard for the family members for Wali redefined the sort of a person Suhaib is. He has always respected all his relations & this is exactly what he wants his son to do as well. Suhaib knows what it means to have a family & more than that he knows that all the relations demand respect & then only they can be nurtured, which is why he has accepted Arjumand because she now holds a very special place in his heart as he knows that if it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t have gotten introduced to the best experience of life which is fatherhood.

Even though Behroz may be the best person for Ruhina & he may be very content with whom he is but the way he treated Suhaib & punished him for the things he isn’t responsible for, made me lose respect for him straight away. Behroz for sure has a lot of ego which is why he couldn’t subside the grudges he has harboured (which by the way were a result of his own selfishness) & just be happy about how Suhaib walked an extra mile for him. Behroz himself saw how Suhaib tried to stop everything that happened, how much he wanted to rectify the situation & how Suhaib has been trying to help him but just because Behroz is unable to see that, he blamed Suhaib & shed off all his frustrations on him. Behroz seemed like a helpless soul who couldn’t own his mistakes in front of Agha Jaan & now when he found a soft target who he knows loves him the most, he ended up saying wrong things to a wrong person. It seemed as if Behroz was kind of unhappy with how Suhaib has earned Agha Jaan’s support & that is why he wanted to get away from him because Suhaib reminded him of what Behroz couldn’t become for Agha Jaan & in stead of being disappointed at himself, he treated Suhaib badly because of his own insecurities & a reality check that he got after becoming a father & after seeing how responsible his younger brother has become. As far as his own life is concerend, Behroz has proved to be a good human being where he does everything to make his wife happy & he is taking charge of all the situations in his life but when it comes to his family, I think he made it clear for the very first time that he was & he is wrong & because of this, the character of Behroz is my least favorite for sure.

Coll 1

I was actually quite excited to see the meeting of Suhaib & Behroz but what transpired was totally unpredictable & that is the beauty of this script. Even though the story on the whole may seem predictable, the way the characters deal with the situation is totally opposite to what we’re expecting at that point of time, which makes this drama look a lot more engaging & actually makes us look forward to it. It was sad to see Behroz not understanding Agha Jaan’s words about what he will feel & go through when he himself will become a father. Now when Behroz himself has stepped into the similar phase of parenthood, I really thought it would be easy for him to understand what Agha Jaan went through when he let him down. I really thought he will repent & try to make things right but just because his life is shaping up well without the support of his father & brother, he really thinks he is going to be fine without them & that makes him look like someone who’s living in a fool’s paradise.

So, this is it from my side. I enjoyed watching this episode like always. Loved the direction & I must say the director has done an amazing job in keeping the acting of all the actors so natural & real because he for sure knows how to make people give their best shot when it comes to acting. The people responsible for styling of the whole cast have done a superb job too. The way their looks change time to time is commendable & I must say I loved the elegance & the makeover of Yasmeen in this episode in particular. She really looked happy seeing her daughter happy & it was so aptly elaborated with her outlook. Ali Rehman has been the star of the show till now. He has done an amazing job & earns full points for giving his best to bring the character of Suhaib to life. To be honest, with the kids overdose in so many dramas these days, I was dreading seeing 7-9 year old Wali & Farah & their pakkay dialogues but I am soooo glad we won’t get to see any of that because the next episode will show a passage of considerable years & for that I am thankful. Share your thoughts about this episode of Diyar-e-Dil & let me know how special it was? :)

Which Channel Rules Facebook?

0

Facebook has become the ultimate medium not only for staying in touch with friends and family but also to keep in touch with all the latest news related to your entertainment needs. Fans join facebook pages of their favorite channels mainly because they want to keep updated on what the channels have to offer next and also to find out the schedules which these channels are following.

Making a facebook page is easy but maintaining it takes effort and time. In order for a page to be a success not only should it be updated on regular basis but it should also be able to engage the viewers in some way. The best way to do this is to keep on asking the viewers questions regarding different dramas and also by making sure that the queries asked by the viewers are answered promptly. It is terribly disappointing when you message the admin to get details about dramas etc but never get an appropriate reply.

Here is a comparison of different facebook pages of dramas based on different criteria.

Facebook likes:

The first thing that tells you about the success of a facebook page is the number of likes it has. The more the likes, the more the fans of the channel and the page. I have myself unliked many pages of things that interest me only because the things were interesting but the facebook pages weren’t exactly so. Therefore, retaining these likes is a challenge and whichever channel leads the likes also wins the first criteria which determines which channel rules facebook.

HUM has 3.6 Million likes

Geo Entertainment has 3.1 Million likes

ARY Digital has 1 Million likes

Urdu1 has 453K likes

Express Entertainment has 137K likes

HUM is a definite winner in this case with Geo Entertainment not very far behind!

Updates On The Page:

It isn’t just how often the page is updated but the kind of updates that are posted on the page matter a lot too. Since our top contenders are HUM, Geo and ARY therefore I will compare the facebook updates of all three. Geo updates its page very often but the news clippings and the type of focus they have on the politics between the women characters in the show gives an image that they are relying solely on this politics to get viewership. The news clippings and other advertisements stunts give the feeling that there is too much going on one page. The focus most often is on two or three dramas and not all the dramas.

43

ARY sadly relies on promoting its game shows more than its dramas. Game shows and Morning Shows are important but updates about dramas are also very important. ARY also promotes new and upcoming dramas more than those that are already in the running.

HUM is the only page which will give you details about all the dramas without appearing to be desperate for viewership. The facebook updates tell you what HUM has to offer and it is entirely up to you whether you choose to watch it or not unlike Geo which sometimes makes it look like it is trying too hard!

5 6

Interaction with fans:

It is my personal experience that the admins on the HUM page are much more active and respond quickly than all others. There are many questions that keep on popping up in the mind of viewers about dramas and it is one of the duties of the people running these facebook pages to answering these questions.

After having many years of experience with different facebook page I have to say that HUM rules facebook because when they say ““HUM AUR AAP HAR PAL SAATH” they mean it!

Dusri Biwi- Episode 22

For the first time ever, the repulsive developments didn’t infuriate me much because there was this extremely pleasant thought soothing my mind: the torture’s ending next week and that’s probably the best thing I’ve heard this month :D.

I think all ARY plays should come with a disclaimer that says: All characters and events in this show will stop making sense at one point so watch at your own risk!

The episode revolved around: tum Raahim ko nahe cheen sakti, mein Raahim ko cheen kay dikhaungi, tum Hassan ko nahe cheen sakti, mein Hassan ko cheen kar dikahungi... Biwi No.1 & 2 went head to head against each other and it was actually very funny how Raahim was crying at the top of his lungs and yet, Aisha and Farah were engaged in a heated and bitter exchange of words- ab bacha sambaal lo ya larr lo- koi ek kaam karo.

FotorCreated

I am glad that the whole Farah-can’t-take-care-of-Raahim fiasco ended in the first half of the episode and Farah ab Raahim ko sambhaal sakti hai- it’s a relief, I tell you, because Farah’s excruciatingly lengthy crying sequences were impossible to sit through.

”Bhai bhai, dimagh kharab kar kay rakh dia hai.” Nope, this time I’m not the only one saying this- it’s Aashi telling her ladli beti off for the 24/7 bhai ki rutt! I guess this should be the highlight of the episode :P. Thank God, this girl is getting on Aisha’s nerves too!

It’s actually pretty ironic how all of a sudden, Biwi No.2, who, let me remind you, was a home wrecker, knows all about mastering the art of making relationships work and the way she puts it, ”issay rishtay nibhana kehtay hain.” In contrast to this, Biwi No.1 is being portrayed as the vamp of the show. And Hassan, the fasaad ki jurr like I always call him, actually has the audacity to say, ”Tum dil say utar gayi ho, Aashi.” See, that’s how twisted the writer is- the wife who turns psycho after her piya’s second marriage ends up being the culprit and the piya who’s actually the one responsible for making her go nuts has the nerve to tell her off! I was super glad when Aisha decided to seek refuge in her bhai’s house but now that Saman is missing, I guess her temporary absence would lead to reconciliation- perfect ending, huh?

I like things detailed and descriptive and I know this was a very brief review but I am sorry guys, this episode had nothing to offer :P. What do you think of the latest episode? Are you waiting for the last episode? Voice your thoughts on this one :)

I Have Never Met Sanam Jung In My Life – Waqar Zaka

0

It is very common for people to spread rumors about celebrities but some rumors are so baseless that it is shocking to know that someone could have come up with such a gossip piece. The rumors that Sanam Jung and Waqar Zaka were involved with each other to the extent that they were going to get married very soon were ripe in the media not very long ago.

1 2

Sanam Jung decided to talk on the subject when she was a guest on HSY’s talk show on HUM and Waqar Zaka has told people repeatedly that he has never even met Sanam Jung but no one pays heed to what he has to tell his fans and media. Sanam Jung also said that watching Waqar’s show was enough for her which means she wants nothing more to do with him!

Waqar Zaka was invited to Sahir Lodhi’s Morning Show in which he said that although he has told the media people again and again that he does not even know Sanam Jung as a person no one is willing to end these rumors. Waqar said that these rumors very often ruin the reputation of the girl more than the boy involved in them. He also said that Sanam might think that he is the one behind such rumors because he wants to get cheap publicity.

Zidd – Episode 18!

0

This drama has lost purpose long time ago & I am amazed rather amused to see it still being aired that too on the weekends. This drama & story is all about a bunch of confused souls who have no idea what they want out of life.

After Rukhi & Qasim’s death, Saman has started to be a bit more courteous & considerate towards Zainab because she doesn’t want to lose another friend but then it’s hard to digest this kind of courtesy from an emotionally absent Saman; a girl who couldn’t forgive her own family & cut ties with them just because they chose to hide one tiny little detail from her. It’s absolutely ridiculous to see her depending on such people who mean nothing to her & ignoring those who play an important part in her life & are entitled to her respect.

The way Saman gets uncomfortable around Zainab really makes this seem a lot more confusing than it actually is. Why is she still tolerating her? Zainab can stay at her own place & Saman can keep on helping her financially like aggar itna hi bhoot sawar hai khidmat-e-khalq ka, so why not! She really doesn’t have to babysit her that too within the vicinity of her own home especially now when she has seen that Zainab is only making things awkward & difficult for her!

I think the writer has over done Omar’s niceness in this drama. It’s like anyone can run him over & he won’t utter a single word. Why is it so hard for him to take control over the situation like a man & tell both these weirdos off by throwing Zainab out of his home & by knocking some sense into Saman?

Saman & her goongapan irritate me like anything. She might not have been such a bad character if there were a few words thrown in to back her expressions. What she feels & what’s going through her mind is never clear therefore she absolutely looks like a brainless zombie who has no purpose in life & oh since when did Qasim & Saman share such a good connection where he advised her about a few things in life? All I knew was that Qasim couldn’t tolerate Saman’s presence & they both shared an awkward silence whenever they both came across each other so it was really weird to see a flashback of their conversation that too where the focal point of discussion was Zainab.

I just hate the way Saman thinks she’s better off & is more mature than Zainab because the way she has tackled her life is absolutely pathetic. She has lost control over everything & she failed to do anything that she ever planned to, so she should accept that she is a failure in life & should just cut down her ego a couple of notches.

The preview suggested that Omar will finally give up on this marriage that too because he likes to be a sacrificial lamb & now once again he is thinking through Saman’s perspective that she has never been happy with him so he will allow her to go & just because Saman’s ego is bigger than her peanut sized brain, she won’t admit that she wants to give this marriage a chance. It’s absolutely ridiculous to show that she can blabber about not wanting to stay with a nice man like Omar but then she chooses to stay at his place? So, where did that Saman go who wanted to live life on her conditions?

I just want this drama to end ASAP because no character has been written properly & the writer has actually failed big time. The writer actually had a different idea about showing how Zidd ruins everything in one’s life but she lost the plot & couldn’t write a better script later on. This unnecessary triangle is only enforced to drag a drama & that is why it actually makes no sense is nauseating. This drama has nothing to offer & I hope they edit the remaining episodes out & finish it off quickly. Share your thoughts!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

5 Best Dressed Celebrities At 3rd HUM Awards

0

Standing out in a crowd of people who live and breathe fashion is not easy. All the celebrities who attended the HUM Awards have access to the top designers in the country but at the end of the day it all depends of what one chooses to get from these designers to wear and how well they carry them. Looking at the pictures of the awards it is very evident that many celebrities were wearing outfits by the same designers but not all of them were outstanding. Also, many of the celebrities preferred to wear black or white.

Here is the list of 5 celebrities who scored the best on our fashion chart!

5. Faysal Quraishi

Most of the male celebrities decided to wear suits to the award function but Faysal Quraishi wore a very well-stitched and decently designed sherwani which gave a traditional and stylish look. The styling was done perfectly too, he looked as young as all the other new actors on the function and the watch goes perfectly with the entire look. Of all the men attending the function Faysal Qureshi looked most elegant therefore he is 5th on our list.

4. Maya Ali

Maya Ali unlike most of the actresses in the function went with something different from what everyone else was wearing. It was not easy pulling off this look because it is a mix of East and West but Maya Ali’s hairstyle and make up went perfectly with her dress and completed a look that deserves to be appreciated.

3. Mansha Pasha

Mansha Pasha is the budding star of the television industry who has nailed all the characters which she has ever played in her career. Mansha Pasha wore a beautiful black dress designed by one of the leading designers in the country namely Adnan Pardesy. Mansha Pasha was not the only one who wore a dress designed by this famous designer but her dress was more stylish than all others.

2. Syra Yousuf

Syra Yousuf looked beautiful in a lime dress which added colour to the evening. The daring colours and stylish stitching of the dress along with a casual look as usual looked perfect on Syra Yousuf. Syra dared to be different and she rocked it.

1. Sanam Saeed

Sanam Saeed looked pretty and chic in a white dress designed by the very talented Shehla Chatoor. Sanam carried this beautiful dress with grace which is why she is first on our list!
