Saba Qamar Explains Her “I Love You” Post on Hamza Abbasi’s Page

0

The rumor about Saba Qamar and Hamza Ali Abbasi being more than just friends surfaced after Saba Qamar wrote on Hamza Ali Abbasi’s facebook page that she loved him. Few days after that Hamza Ali Abbasi made it clear to everyone that him and Saba were nothing more than very close friends. Now many months after this rumor was very hot news HSY on his show asked Saba Qamar about it. Saba Qamar’s reply could have been very surprising for many people because this was for the first time that the audience got to hear her side of the story.

1

Saba Qamar told HSY that it was a prank played by Hamza which was taken very far when a drama page posted the comment along with Hamza and Saba’s picture on facebook. Saba and Hamza were sitting together somewhere when Hamza asked her if he could check her facebook, Saba said she thought that maybe he wanted her to like some page and was going to do it for her therefore she handed over her phone to him. Hamza posted the “I love you” comment on his wall from Saba’s account without even telling Saba Qamar. When Saba Qamar found out Hamza’s reply was that there was nothing wrong with it. Saba said that she never felt the need to give justifications to anyone because she knew that there was nothing between them.

Shikwa- Khatam Shud!

0

At last, the whole ‘Shikwa’ journey has come to an end. After so many tantrums, cheekh pukaar, rona dhona, thappar  and hospital kay chakkar, it took them 27 episodes in total, to finally convey their message: Muhabbat ka taluq dil say hota hai, umar say nahe! The message itself is thought-provoking but incessant dragging and some unconvincing elements made it  ambiguous. This is clearly not the way to wrap up a show. They wasted sooo many episodes in Firdaus Aapa, Sidra-Shariq and Zeba Jii and the ending that was supposed to be lucid and logical became rushed and irrational.
Mehar’s daughter, Maria (Noor Khan) is a girl who would simply be labeled as ‘’boring’’ by other people of her age. This was evident in the conversation between Maria and Ali, where Ali, like any normal teenager said that he enjoys action and comedy movies whereas Maria expressed her interest in more serious, historical movies. Also, she openly confessed that she likes sober and mature people and immature guys like Ali are simply NOT her ‘type’. I liked the way how Ali took her rejection and realized that there’s no use running after her if she is not interested. She is head over heels in love with her Media Sciences professor, Sir Feroz (Faisal Rehman). Hayee a moment of silence for all those viewers who were not expecting things to get any worse. See, I warned you all to be prepared for anything team Shikwa throws at us. I think it was a mistake on the director’s part to introduce this track all of a sudden that too in the second last episode. From her brief encounter with her professor, I could glean that Sir Feroz never gave her any misleading signals and he discerned the line between a teacher and student. But Maria finds some hidden ‘charm’ in him and she remained persistent, even after he told her about his divorce. Doesn’t Maria remind you of serial, ‘Malaal’s Maahi (Sarwat Gillani)? Mahi too confessed that she likes serious and mature, Al-Pacino or Robert De Niro sort of guys. AND that’s why she fell for Danish (again played by Faisal Rehman):P. But ‘Malaal’ was an entirely different league of course and we can by no means compare it to Shikwa! Hey, don’t you think Faisal Rehman could have been a much better Saqib? He has the aura, the personality and best of all, he makes his presence felt. Also, he has a good fan following and I am sure many more people would have watched Shikwa after seeing him play the lead against Sonia Hussain because a considerable part of the audience had a hard time digesting Waseem Abass in the role of a gentle, romantic husband since we have always seen him playing the cold-hearted, betiyon say bayzaar abba. He doesn’t actually have the hero sorta aura the audience is always looking for.

Fotor1109213153
Many readers were raving about Noor Khan’s impressive acting skills and indeed, she is a talented new-comer and I hope to see more of her in future. And one thing I found really pleasant was the bond Mehar and her daughter share with Adeel (Tipu Sharif). Adeel is the one who stood by Mehar all these years and looked after Saqib’s business. It was refreshing to see a bhanji confiding in her mamu. Haha, I was surprised to see Tipu Sharif playing the role of that once seedha saada, mobile phone ki zid karta hua, Mehar Baji wala Adeel.
‘Mera maazi phir say meray saamne aakar khara hogaya hai.’ This pretty much sums up Mehar’s state of mind after she learns about Maria’s interest in her professor. Mehar was forced to marry someone twice her age and her daughter, on the other hand, is herself choosing a middle-aged man over a guy her age. Kia yeh khula tazaad nahe hai? ;) Mehar, from her personal experience, knows how this age difference affects marital life. As much as she appreciates Saqib for his decency and integrity and loves him for who he was, she knows it all too well that as time passes by, the difference in age becomes more prominent and obvious than ever, and by referring it to her own case, she mentioned how she wasn’t able to understand the worth of Saqib’s genuineness and when she finally did fall in love with him, life got even harder as Saqib’s frailty grew by the passing day. Saqib passed away; leaving Mehar all alone with the huge responsibility of Maria’s brought up. Therefore, Mehar’s opposition to Maria’s hasty decision was quite justified as she didn’t want her daughter to go through the same circumstances. Maria’s outburst reminded me of Mehar’s outbursts but I don’t completely agree with her. Look, I agree that Mehar, all her life, was indulged in self-pity but to say that she doesn’t know a thing about love because she never loved Saqib, would be a bit too harsh because despite everything, Mehar did have genuine feelings for him. After her outburst, we saw karma striking again and Mehar too lost her consciousness and recalled all those times when she had been harsh with her mother. Ohkay, her mother was helpless, majboor and mazloom BUT I still hold her responsible for a lot of things that went wrong in Mehar’s life. Firstly, the decisions she made for Mehar always lacked foresight and sensitivity. Before forcing her young daughter to marry someone as old as Saqib, she should have taken into consideration that in cases like these, usually the husband dies earlier and his wife has to deal with widowhood at a young age. And I didn’t like the way she started seeking suitors for Mehar after Saqib’s death. Once again, she didn’t bother to put herself in Mehar’s shoes.

SAVING GRACE OF THE PLAY- MEHAR!

Coming back to the last episode, the unconvincing part was that in the end. it was Ali who managed to persuade Mehar to succumb to Maria’s wishes?! I mean, to begin with, Ali’s role wasn’t even significant and I wasn’t expecting him of all people, to change Mehar’s mind and in turn, the course of the ending. And what happened following that was even more implausible: After Mehar’s green signal, Maria went out (literally) in the search of her Professor Charming AND perhaps the worst aspect of the ending is the way she and Sir Feroz got together. This Feroz guy was NOT interested in Maria, remember?? Then why is it that he changed his mind at the eleventh hour? Matlab, this suddenX10 change, without any STRONG base or background is way beyond me, qasam say! Some of you may think that what made him change his mind was the way Maria took a stand in front of her mother but no, we are not talking about a 17-year old guy who can easily be blown away by a heart-felt speech. We are talking about an adult, educated, not to forget a ‘divorced’ professor who very well knows how impulsive and obsessive a young girl can get
So in the end, all I could scrape together was that Maria and Sir Feroz are together and Mehar has let go of her self-pity phase. You know, a teacher-student relationship is based on respect and dignity. It concerns the exchange of knowledge, but the light such tracks shed on this muqaddas relationship is not something the young generation should be introduced to. Therefore I believe that this play could have ended far earlier, at a much more pleasant note. The biggest draw-back of this play was the way it was stretched like a rubber band to the point where almost every character and track lost its charm.

Sonia Hussain totally outdid herself as Mehar and I will surely remember the impulsive, emotional yet sensitive Mehar because of Sonia Hussain’s splendid performance. Irsa Ghazal was outstanding like always. Waseem Abbas did a commendable job, considering the fact that earlier on, he had been ultra-busy with mastering the role of a zalim and shukki shauhar/abba.
Did you watch the last episode? How disappointed or pleased you are with the ending?

P.S: Since it’s the end of the ‘Shikwa’ journey, I would take this moment to thank all my regular readers who made this experience a memorable one, especially Sabahet, Amirza, Farah Ahmed, Ms Khan, Ms Asim, Silver Eyes, A, Tricksy, Aima and even if I haven’t mentioned your name, don’t forget you all have proven to be wonderful readers :D And yes, how can I forget my fellow awesome reviewers, Areeba Mohsen and Fatima Awan. Digest Writer – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, I must say I love the way every episode offers something different & then the scenario keeps on revolving around the new developments. This play is definitely a breath of fresh air not only because of a different story but because of a perfect approach with which it has been executed. I think it’s needless to say but now I eagerly wait for Sundays so that I can watch Digest Writer.

Ohkay so where Fareeda tasted what it is like to be appreciated & acknowledged, she also was exposed to new set of problems that aspiring writers face in their journey towards success. Fareeda never thought that a renowned & financially stable person like Rida Anmol would back out on paying her what she deserves. I think very aptly they showed that while sitting in their cozy comfortable lounge room with all the luxuries at their feet, Rida & Sikandar couldn’t relate to Fareeda’s state of mind as to why she was so keen on getting paid & all they did was just pass some misapprehended comments about people belonging to such background. I thought Sikandar might be decent & different but seems like he’s anything but that as well. Obviously, he’s oblivious of what his wife was planning all along but I didn’t expect him to be so inconsiderate where he’d question about why people from the lower middle class would need all that money for?

I really felt for Fareeda when she kept her feelings to herself because she knew that it wasn’t worth bothering her mother for her issues. Fareeda is definitely working so hard as she knows that her family has not only supported her but is now considerably dependent on her as well. I really appreciate Fareeda’s character for the fact that she is a very dignified yet a very selfless person because she wasn’t concerned about how & why Rida treated her like a stranger but her only concern was Jameela & her contribution in her happiness.

I must say the way they are opening new horizons for Fareeda is very appreciable & interesting. Like I said before that Fareeda’s journey is a perfect example of how ‘one thing leads to another’. She never would’ve thought that she’d stumble upon a famous actor Ayaan Junaid that she had only seen on the TV. I really liked the discussion Fareeda & her siblings had post her meeting with Ayaan. They sounded so much like regular TV viewers who have different preconceived notions about such celebrities. I also love the way Shakeela always teases Jameela, it’s very genuine, real & portrays how sisters in actual treat each other. :) I think Ayaan will obviously play an important role in Fareeda’s journey because he actually saw what happened there & he was vigilant enough to understand that Rida has purely used Fareeda for her benefit & she’s still unaware of it.

I must say I loved the way things are shaping up for Fareeda’s family. Jameela has found a decent partner for herself & it is good to see that Zareena & Anwar now speak on behalf of Fareeda whenever Appa says something about Fareeda & Shaukat’s marriage. They now know that Fareeda isn’t keen on getting married as she has certain dreams that she is chasing. I think it gives out a very nice message to all the parents that no matter what their kids want to do, the parents should always accept & then support their passion.

I once again loved Shaukat’s golden & blue shirt, it was spot on & somehow depicts his thinking & nawabi nature perfectly. The way he refused to eat mithai the moment his father told him off went to show that he’s such an attention seeker & doesn’t like being dictated. He’s a very different character & I find him a very fresh addition to this drama. Obviously, his only objective is to earn Fareeda but too bad for him, he’s not the one for her.

So, that’s it from my side, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode as well. The acting’s perfect & so is the direction. The scenes are to the point & the way story’s unfolding is just brilliant. I really enjoy watching this drama & can’t wait to hear what you guys have to say about this episode of Digest Writer. Share your say please. :)

Indians Bid Farewell To Hamasafar

0

Hamsafar ended in India yesterday and Indians are writing emotional comments about the drama which they looked forward to every week. Indians loved everything about the show from the chemistry between the leading cast to the gripping story which impressed them right till the last episode. Shomini Sin in one of her reviews of Hamsafar wrote, “What is most appealing about the show- or for that matter any Pakistani TV show is the realistic approach the narrative has. Unlike Indian shows, the characters are less melodramatic, they dress up like us, there is no unnecessary drama.” This were her views after watching the first episode, after watching the entire serial Indians are finding it hard to do without Hamsafar, some of them want part 2 of the play!

6

Ritika Handoo of Zee News India expresses her love for Hamsafar in the following words, “As soon as the song by Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch starts playing, my living room witnesses pin drop silence, as my family gets glued on to their seats to watch ‘Humsafar’. Subconsciously, I hum this song more than any movie song nowadays (and I hope this continues).”

4

Ritika admits that she wasn’t even looking forward to Hamsafar but once she started watching the show falling in love with it was easy! “There are very few good television serials, which leave a lasting impression on the viewer’s mind using the power of the medium—this one thankfully does that unfailingly in each of its episodes(at least for me). The subtle and enchanting background score makes it feel that the director has been influenced by world cinema and uses that knowledge to put such strong rhythms, reflecting the mood of each scene.” She also thinks that, “the void created by ‘Humsafar’ will take time to fill.”

7

Here is more evidence of how much Indians loved this play and hate to see it end!

Bashar Momin – The End!

0

Ohkay, so fair enough. Let me just say this drama had a fairly decent ending which I wasn’t expecting at all. I will definitely praise the bits that deserve to be praised. I think the developments that they showed in these last 3 episodes were what we all were looking for. I’d once again say that this drama had a lot of potential but may be the unnecessary stretching till 30+ episodes did the trick in losing the plot & pace of the drama. I think ever since the drama began, if they had revolved the plot around Bashar Momin, his character, his background, his feelings & his story, this drama definitely would’ve garnered a lot more fans. I think I’d definitely blame the writer & the director for losing the track & drifting the focus from important aspects to the meaningless ones by giving a lot more coverage to & wasting so many episodes on the supporting characters than needed.

Like we all discussed, Bashar was too softy of a don. I think in one of my reviews I did predict that Rudaba will change him, which was obvious as he was like a lost soul that needed some love, attention & guidance but the way they reached to this point wasn’t convincing at all. I really wish they hadn’t stooped so low to unleash such dark & diabolic side of Bashar because now when he rebounded from it, I had a hard time feeling for him as much as I wanted to. Obviously, Bashar fell weak & all the negativity really burdened him, which he couldn’t cope up with, that’s why he decided he didn’t want all this in his life. Saira & Tayyaba always resonated the negativity to keep him going but now when Rudaba was exposed to all this, Bashar found out that she is a different being who couldn’t bear all that & this is what made him regret doing everything that he ever did to her, in a fit of hatred & anguish. I know it would sound surprising but I kind of enjoyed the scenes between Bashar & Rudaba, I think this is how a love story should be like, less yelling & more talking. Bashar really wanted to make up for the things Rudaba had to face because of him & it was good to see him being repentant repeatedly.

I think the sudden intervention of media & police wasn’t convincing once again. Obviously, they had to show that Bashar being a don was always at a risk of losing his freedom & life but I think we were never given any grounds to know what Bashar did & what level of crimes he was involved in, that’s why it never really made any sense. I so wish they had focused more on his professional life rather than the personal lives, that too of his family, so that we could’ve found the recent turn of events a tad bit interesting.

To see Buland again yearning for Rudaba wasn’t appeasing at all. I mean how much of a self-respect-less can a man be? Did he really think that Rudaba would still be so in love with him to leave Bashar for such a spineless man like him? I think the director & we all could’ve done without him because he was useless even now just like he was useless ever since the drama began.

I think Saira got the shut up call rightly so & just when she needed some. Bashar said it loud & clear that nothing can part him & Rudaba, which was fine because the things later Adil said to her made sense as well. She has been a very self-absorbed & rigid person who never gave importance to anyone, but I think it was about time that she learnt a few lessons of life too.

So, everyone found a closure. Rudaba earned Bashar’s love. Saira learned how to mind her own business. Bashar decided to start afresh & Buland finally let go of his one-sided love for Rudaba. The ending was fair I believe but I’d still say that this drama had a lot of potential if only it was tackled properly. I so wish they hadn’t gone for such an OTT approach in executing this drama. I am sure if they had focused more on the quality of script & acting & hadn’t spent time in meaningless angles & larger-than-life appearance of everything, they might’ve given out a fairly decent play with a bit of acceptable filmy touch to it. I also feel that they should’ve invested more time on the central character & should’ve given him the required coverage to let us know why the drama was named Bashar Momin, some story starting from his childhood to his struggling days & some showcasing of how he got to such a point that made him such a ruthless yet successful don, I believe would’ve sufficed. I think if they had wrapped the drama within 20-22 episodes, it would’ve been a lot more interesting because in between, the drama & its story definitely lost the track as Adil, Saira, Tayyaba & Buland dominated the whole story while Bashar only seemed to be that person who was tending to their issues like a head of the family without having a life of his own. I so wish they had equalized the coverage of the supporting & the main characters to make a balanced & engaging drama. I must say the only person who did justice to his character in terms of acting was Faysal Qureshi & I think he certainly deserves to be credited for this. Share your say please.

Cheers,

ps: I must say by the end I so wished he’d get rid of his BM ring & I was the happiest when he finally let go of it, haha!

I was offered the lead in O21, Ali Zafar

In a recent interview to English Daily The News, Instep, famous artist Ali Zafar revealed he was offered the lead role in recently released film O21 which he refused.

Speaking about current scene of Pakistani cinema

“I would love to be a part of this new-age cinema but I have to do it on my own terms,”  “Nothing appealing has come my way in the last five years. I was offered the lead in O21 but I wasn’t sure about the concept then and I declined. I’m working on two of my own scripts at the moment. Both are going to be pure entertainment – that’s what the cinema-going public pays to watch.”

O21 was released on Eidul Azha in October 2014 and Shan performed the lead role in this film. Earlier Ali Zafar also refused the character of Sarmad in film Khuda Ke Liye a role which was later performed by Fawwad Khan.

Firaaq – Episode 10

0

After the last two episodes which were rather shocking and somewhat abrupt, with this episode the story moved forward in a more convincing manner although there were bits which still made you wonder about the issues Imroze has and also it seemed like everything was happening at once.

Shams’ reunion with her mother couldn’t have been shown in a better way. I had a bad feeling that the storyline may get even more complicated from here on but Tabbasum and Shams are off to a great start. Tabbasum tells one last thing which she thinks Shams should know before they start over again. The scenes between Tabbasum, Haider and Shams were very touching. Tabbasum will play a pivotal role in bringing Shams and Sara together, I am waiting to find out if Shams changes his stance regarding having children. I cannot help but praise Mazhar Ali’s convincing and natural acting over and over again. I really hope that we get to see him in dramas more often. Uzma Gillani like always was brilliant while showing how happy she was and how much Tabbasum has changed.

firaaq

Imroze and Paymaan looked like husband and wife for the first time today, we definitely needed to see more of such scenes in the previous episodes as well. Paymaan finally discovered the marks on Imroze’s body and questioned about them – better late than never! It was strange that everything happened at the same time, the reunion, Roomi realizing that people were using him and change in Imroze’s behaviour. Roomi realized that people treated him like a door-mat, he does not want to solve anyone’s marital problems or pick someone’s kid from school. This particular scene actually made me laugh! I am glad that Roomi finally showed some emotion other than being kind to people all the time, it’s about time that he got tired of playing the agony aunt! The second Imroze talked to Roomi, he was back to being a husband to Paymaan although in the last episode he was doubting his wife just as much as Roomi but for some odd reason which the viewers were not shown Imroze does not blame Paymaan for anything any more. He wants Roomi out of their life and start over again. I wish we could know the reason behind this sudden change in Imroze’s behaviour. We were shown Imroze thinking out loud over and over again about how his wife had cheated him and now all of a sudden without any thinking whatsoever he is convinced that Roomi is the only one to be blamed. Roomi’s lectures to Imroze regarding how he should be spending more time with his wife did not help at all! I must admit I did feel for Roomi after watching tonight’s episode.

The way Imroze felt about the change in Paymaan’s outlook and the scene on the beach went to show that Imroze is a very conservative person which could also be because of his insecurities. He tells Roomi that he never wanted to marry someone modern and then later on the beach he says to Paymaan that everyone was looking at her. Well, at least we know now why Imroze fell for Paymaan!

The preview of the next episode was a big blunder because it practically showed everything that is going to happen in the next episode. I am not going to share the details here so that the viewers who have not seen this episode yet have the option of not watching the preview because if they do then they surely will have very little reason to watch the next episode! The only mystery is finding out which disease Imroze has otherwise we pretty much know now what turn the story is going to take from here.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar Admits He Is “Gunehgaar”

After his hit play Pyare Afzal Khalil-ur-Reham Qamar did what no other writer has ever done before, he wrote a script about his own love story in the form of Sadqay Tumhare. The fans were not happy with the writer because he killed the hero Afzal who was loved by many so many fans are scared that Sadqay Tumhare might have a sad ending too. Khalil-ur-Rehman while giving an interview to Dawn News said something which could possibly mean that his new play will have a sad ending too.

st2

Talking about the play, he said,  “Ek scene aisa nahin hai jo drame ki khatir add kiya gaya ho (There is no scene that has been added for the sake of the drama).”

This is not a commercial project for the writer but it is something very close to his heart.

st

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar also admits that he felt the need to tell the viewers his story because he feels that he did not do justice to Shano. “Mein shayad uske samne gunehgaar tha (Perhaps I let her down). I wish to give tributes to her.”

When the Dawn News reporter asked him if this time his drama will have a happy ending he said, “Ye joh hum zinda reh jate hai woh hai sad ending (That we remain living, is the sad ending).”

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is very happy with the way the director has handled the story and also with the performance of the actors.

No to bold scenes says Ali Zafar

I have few limits when it comes to working in Bollywood which I will never cross. Being a Pakistani I will never perform a kiss scene or a bold scene on silver screen. These are the words of Ali Zafar while talking to BBC Urdu service recently.

Ali told, whether he gets work or not, he will stand by his limits. ‘Salman Khan is a super star despite never an on screen kiss scene’ argues Ali. But his film London, Paris, Newyork has a kiss scene of Ali, so what he has to say on this?

As per Ali that kiss was necessary, but it was performed by his body double int he film.

Ali is a die hard fan of Indian artist Amitabh Bachan. Currently he is promoting his upcoming film Kil Dil. Ali is happy that more and more Pakistani artists like Humaima Malik, Imran Abbas and Fawad Khan are opting to appear in Indian films and they are also getting offers from Indian film makers.

Ramchand Pakistani in 2008 is the second film produced by Javed Jabbar which was directed by his daughter Mehreen Jabbar. Starring Nandita Das,Rashid Farooqi,Syed Fazal Hussain,Maria Wasti,Noman Ijaz and Zhalay Sarhadi the music was composed by Debojyoti Mishra. Mehreen Jabbar

Her first drama was a teleplay name niwala (morsel) in mid 1990’s which was based on a short story of Ismat Chughtai. Her first drama serial was Dhoop Mein Saawan in late 1990’s on PTV. Shazia Akhtar, Yasir Akhtar

Shazia Akhtar
Shazia Akhtar is daughter of Rizwana Akhtar, sister of Yasir Akhtar and is niece (sister’s daughter) of Mr. Javed Jabbar. Shazia acted apart from doing modelling. She started her acting career at a young age from PTV Karachi center drama Dastak in late 1980’s. Dastak was written by Imran Aslam and directed by Shahzad Khalil. In Dastak, Shazia appeared opposite another young actor Ayyaz Nayek. It was also first major appearance of Ayyaz Nayek in a television drama. Despite success of Dastak, acting has never been a first choice profession for Shazia. Its the modelling where she worked consistently. Then in late 1990’s ramp modelling opportunities were scarce. Shazia was a popular model for print media and commercials. She has worked in many top brands commercials too. In between Shazia also appeared in few selective dramas in 1990’s and 2000’s. She is no more active in either acting or modelling.

As mentioned above Dastak was the first television play for both Shazia Akhtar and Ayyaz Nayek but they never worked together again. However in early 90’s the on screen pair of drama Dastak tied the knot in real life. Their wedding received wide coverage in print media. However they both parted their ways within few years of marriage. Both Shazia and Ayyaz have been silent about their breakup. Both have not remarried after the breakup.

Ayyaz Nayek
Though Ayyaz Nayek is no more related to Jabbar-Akhtar family, but once he was so lets remember him as well. Ayyaz Nayek is son of a civil servant Naeem A. Nayek in Islamabad. His mother Zareena Nayek and father Naeem A. Nayek also acted in few dramas of PTV Islamabad center. Naeem Nayek worked in famous drama of 1970’s Qurbatain Aur Faslay starring Rahat Kazmi and Sahira Ansari in lead roles.

Ayyaz started his acting career from film Nahin Abhi Nahin in 1981. He played the second lead role with main hero Faisal Rehman who was also making deubt from this film. Both Faisal and Ayyaz were in teenage when Nahin Abhi Nahin was released. The success of Nahin Abhi Nahin, brought further film offers for Ayyaz Naik and in 1980’s he appeared in many films mostly opposite Babra Sharif and Durdana Rehman. Nahin Abhi Nahin, Pyar Karan To Nahin Darna, Ek Duje Ke Liye are his famous films. Despite moderate success in films, he had not pursued film career.

On television Ayyaz’s first major appearance was in drama Dastak from PTV Karachi center opposite Shazia Akhtar. Chand Girahn in 1991 is the most famous drama of Ayaz Naik where Huma Nawab was his co-star. Apart from Chand Girahn, Ayaz also worked in few dramas from PTV Islamabad center like Sangchoor, Sarang and Junoon. From mid 1990’s onward Ayaz almost vanished from the television. Ayyaz Naik currently lives in Islamabad working as a government officer. Ayyaz Nayek has not remarried after his failed first marriage.

Jackson Heights – Episode 08!

Ohkay so thankfully things are falling into perspective. I think the pace of the play is picking up & let’s see where the story will take us. I am glad that this episode in particular had smaller & a lot of scenes which made the episode a bit interesting & happening. Even though the drama makers have taken a lot of time in unwinding the story & we still are looking forward to see what’s in store for us, I feel the cast should be given the due credit for enacting their roles brilliantly. I must say even though we haven’t seen Ali Kazmi in this drama before, but he made his presence felt in those limited scenes too which is commendable because it seems like he’s so much into his character like everybody else (excluding Marina Khan).

So, now we know where Salma’s husband Sikandar (Ali Kazmi) was. Obviously we don’t know the reason & the whole story behind but he was serving his time in prison while Salma was working hard to take care of his mother & his daughter that too on his behalf. Now we know that Salma got married to Sikandar when Imaan was just 3 y/o & she has been in this relation for like 12 years but I didn’t really get the wishful thinking that Salma shared with Aliya & I couldn’t really connect to the glimmer of hope that Salma spoke about that may be Sikandar has changed because she found him calm this time around. I guess the span of 12 years is enough to know a person in & out so what really made Salma say that? Obviously for now Sikandar has contained himself but I think it won’t take him too long to flip to his real self as his mother started doing what she was waiting for & that was to brain feed Sikandar against Imaan & Salma. Even though Sikandar is trying to be calm & composed but I think it’s just a facade that he’s carrying which he will let go of pretty soon.

Is it just me or Jamshed’s joblessness is becoming bothersome? Yes, we know that he’s trying his luck but why is he always looking for short cuts? He depended on his Mamu & now he is depending on his relative to help him out? I think Jamshed should’ve understood by now that when his Uncle couldn’t help him, why would a distant relative do that? I must say even though the whole issue was repetitive, I giggled a lot at Jamshed’s fight & the things his relative said to him in return. To add more to his woes, he got to know that Nadir has decided to get married to Asma & I think Nadir made the right decision because Asma’s a very decent girl & she certainly deserved better. I must say the actress who has played the role of Asma has been brilliant because no matter how short her scenes are, she always makes me feel for her a lot.

Oh yes, once again, Bhatti found the chance to spend some time with Salma & they both are unaware of the fact that unconsciously they have started to enjoy each other’s company. Bhatti was honest about why he wants to befriend Salma as he really yearns to have a desi friend but Salma, no matter how much she resists, always ends up spending some time with him because he makes her laugh & they both share a certain wavelength which can’t be described. Obviously, even if they’d try to give some reasoning for it, they won’t be able to come up with a decent explanation as to why they share a conversation over a coffee or why Bhatti always grabs an opportunity he gets to have a heart-to-heart talk with Salma, but I guess these meaningless meetings & candid conversations will help them both develop an understanding over the time. I must say my favourite part of the whole episode are the scenes of Bhatti & Salma because they genuinely look like they’re in need of a support system & they need someone to be ears to their innermost feelings. Apparently, Salma has a lot to hide in comparison to Bhatti but it’s just a matter of time when they’ll end up discussing everything with each other I suppose.

I am glad that this episode had very limited in fact lesser scenes of Michelle/Marina Khan. I think Jamshed will end up working at her restaurant & now when he knows that Asma’s not a part of his life anymore, he’ll obviously get infatuated with her. Let’s see what’s yet to come. I am wondering that Salma suspects Kashif for always keeping an eye on her; he still hasn’t found out that she has been spending some time with Bhatti lately? & oh yes, I had a good laugh at Bhatti’s comment on Aliya & her English, it was funny. :) Share your thoughts please.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Chupkay Se Bahar Ajaye_Episode 3 and 4

Saqib’s Dad(Faiq) clearly wanted him to get committed soon, because of the “Saira” threat. Mera faisla atal hai, aur aankhon par patti baandh kar rishte tay nahi hote. Saqib didn’t want to give in, ji abbu, mein ne samjha diya hai ammi ko, rishte dosron ki haisiyat aur business dekh kar kiye jate hain. If Faiq’s friend (Shams) hadn’t told him his true intentions about making Saqib a ghar-damaad , Faiq would never have agreed to go to Saira’s house for a rishta! Khair issi bahane baat tou bani! But Faiq has decided not to tell his family why he agreed to this rishta.

dayar 2

Shafaq’s mother finds her dost ka beta (Farooq) and she deems him fit for her daughter.Shafaq’s self-pity countinues. Mein khud ko achi nahi lagti tou doosron ko kya lagoon gi?Her mother boosts her confidence. Ab dunya ko tumhe meri nazron se dekhna pare ga. And the wait for the arrival of Mr.Perfect starts.

The scene between Shafaq and her maid was not necessary. Why is it that girls are always taught that the only good thing that can happen to them is marriage? Is confidence only linked with marriage? I am not at all denying the value of the sacred relationship that is marriage, but this is the 21st century and about time that girls in dramas are shown confident without their dream man.

At the first meeting of Shafaq and Farooq Saira couldn’t keep her mouth closed. She had all the things in the world to talk to him about and he was attracted to her.  The moment Saira left the room, he said it all aloud. Mujhe aisi larkiyan buhat pasand hain, aap Saira se mere rishte ki baat karein please. Everything has been fixed for Saira but the new circumstances will definitely send Shafaq into further depression. But what I like about her and Saira’s friendship is that both of them are never jealous of each other.

dayar

Saira was over the moon about her and Saqib’s engagement and she couldn’t stop bragging. Dekha ammi, khuwab dekha tab hi poora hua na! Most of episode 4 was all about mangni ki tayyariyan and then the engagement and then the BIG party after the engagement. Faiq was offered  a partnership from a Mr.Gulzar_ a big businessman. He was relieved that he didn’t have to work with Shams anymore. Will this partnership have an important role in the future?

BrazilianSupportersForWC2014_3164935

The game scene on the celebration day was fun to watch. It was funny how Saqib said “I love you” to Shafaq and then after taking the blindfold off, said “I love you” to Saira, while feeling guilty.

The last scene came as a shock. Saqib is now all alone in the world. Will he be able to recover from this shock? Will he run his father’s business successfully or will he lose everything?

The direction and production quality of CSBA is top-notch. I love all the characters and the actors have done a marvelous job.

Sadqay Tumhare – Episode 5

This drama proves that sometimes one liners like “apne ap se bahar bara buzdil hun mei” “ap bhi purtey parhatey ho ya sirf rukhwali krte ho” “mulaqat ki hami bhur lu tu mulaqat zarur krta hun” ” pehli baar us ke chehray pe ghussa nahi tha, akr bhi nahi thi” and many more like these make the viewers understand situations and characters more than long paragraphs of in-depth analysis. All through tonight’s episode these one liners made me go aww, they made me laugh and definitely said a great deal about all the characters. The excessive use of Bha ji by Shano to make sure that Fayyaz knows that he is no more than that for her was a minor addition that made a big difference. I am sure many viewers like me could tell how Fayyaz must have felt every time Shano addressed him as Bha ji. The way Shano says ami G even after her mother hits her showed that she knows she is right and that her mother’s behavior will not change anything at all, she remained unaffected by her mother’s response! How amazing was that! Khalil is a completely different person around Shano not because he is under the influence of Maqsood’s lecture or afraid of his khaloo but because he is in love! Shano is not Khalil’s zid but she is his love because if she was only a zid he wouldn’t have been so lost around her. The opening scene of tonight’s episode revealed a very different Khalil and from there on the viewers were going to be introduced to a whole new side of Khalil. When Khalil hears Shano telling Fayyaz off he does not know what to expect, he expected Shano to be completely different and she is just that but only when she is with Khalil.

st5

Khalil makes sure Fayyaz knows that he is not his match at all. The way he literally bullied Fayyaz into silence was hilarious. Khalil was out to impress Shano and he knew exactly how to go about it. I would give full marks to Mukarram Kaleem for playing the annoyed yet helpless Fayyaz brilliantly. The letter which Khalil wrote to Shano was actually much more than just a love letter; Khalil means business, he wants to know if Shano is with him or not because if she is with him then nothing else matters. He is not going to waste time because he is intelligent enough to know what is coming ahead. When Khalil returns home after meeting Shano he is a changed man, the satisfaction on his face shows that he has found what he was probably not even looking for, like a man who stepped on a hidden treasure when he wasn’t even searching for it. Life has a new meaning for Khalil, he looks forward to Shano’s reply so that he can figure out what he wants to do next. In the last episode we saw Maqsood lecturing Khalil about love and how essential it was to respect the person he loved. Although that conversation was beautifully written but Khalil did not need to hear any of it because being in love has taught him everything he needed to learn…” pyaar se ziada us ki izzat krta hun”, Khalil tells the postman but he is not going to beg his khala khalu to accept his proposal.

Samiya Mumtaz plays the zalim samaj with perfection; what is a good love story without the samaj ki dewar standing in its way! Sadqay Tumhare to me is like a beautiful fairytale; we have a gorgeous leading lady, a handsome hero and the perfect vamp. It is intelligently written because everything is blended well, the romance and the humor. Humaira’s reaction when she meets Khalil and the way she describes to Shano how she recognized him later on was another beautiful aspect of tonight’s episode. Hearing those dialogues was like listening to a perfectly penned down piece of poetry.

Adnan Malik and Mahira Khan’s flawless performances along with the sizzling chemistry between the two makes the romance between them a treat to watch. Both of them deliver the romantic dialogues in such a way that they melt your heart and do not sound cheesy at all. Both these actors have brought their characters to life in a way that you can’t help but look forward to their scenes. Each and every scene deserves to be cherished. I have already watched the episode twice and intend to watch it over and over again! I am in love with Shano and Khalil’s love story, every episode of Sadqay Tumhare has delivered till now. The second this drama starts I know that I will be glued to be my television screen for the next one hour. Sadqay Tumhare is very special to me, I haven’t enjoyed a romantic play this much in a long time. A big thanks to the entire team of Sadqay Tumhare for a job very well done.

Beli
In Pakistan the showbiz scene starts from film Industry where first film Teri Yaad was released in 1948 and proved dead flop at box office. The infant film industry was struggling due to lack of finance and skilled workers, however gradually the situation was stabilized.

Beli released in 1950 was the only film/drama which Saadat Hassan Manto wrote himself. Beli introduced few artists which later proved assets of Pakistani films. Sabiha Khanum, Santosh Kumar and music composer Rasheed Attray made their debut from this film. Director Masud Parvez later also provided many remarkable films like Koel, Intizar, Heer Ranjha. The film also starred Shahina Ghaznavi who is step khala(aunt) of Salma Agha,i.e. daughter of Anwari Begum and Rafiq Ghazanvi.

Saadat Hassan Manto passed away in 1955 so Beli in 1950 is the only film which he wrote himself. After Beli few films were adapted from his short stories.
