Talking about mothers showing anger toward their children, Sarwat Gilani said, “Most women become strict and show emotional outbursts because they are taking care of their child from morning. Such angry behaviour comes when a mother spends the entire day with her child, constantly asking them to study, eat, work hard, do homework, and get good grades, while the child keeps resisting. At the end of the day, the mother’s patience also runs out. This is often the time when the husband returns home, so what he sees is only her outburst, but he does not see what she has gone through the whole day. If parents reverse their roles, I am sure most men would give up within a few minutes. They cannot deal with children for a whole day. So first, appreciate your wives for their patience and hard work, and pamper them, embrace them, and encourage them in front of your children. Tell them you are super proud of her and her efforts in parenting.”

Talking about trauma-bonded fathers, Sarwat Gilani said it is important for both parents to be on the same page. A father’s parenting style often comes from his own upbringing. She said a father’s bond with his mother can influence his role as a parent. Fathers who are emotionally or physically absent from their children often come from families where their own fathers were absent during childhood, or where their parents had a strained relationship. In some cases, the mother may have spoken negatively about the father and made the son her emotional support system, turning him into her protector. Such sons tend to spend more time with their mothers, become overly protective, and may develop feelings of hostility or resentment toward their fathers which affect their role as father in the future.

Sarmad Khoosat’s upcoming and highly anticipated film, Zindagi Tamasha, finally has a release date. The film, after creating storms internationally, at the Busan International film festival, will finally be releasing in Pakistan on the 24th of January.

Directed by Sarmad Khoosat himself, Zindagi Tamasha is based on a script by Nirmal Bano and has been co-produced by Khoosat and his sister Kanwal.

Revolving around the life of a religious cleric whose secret video goes viral causing an upheaval in his life, Zindagi Tamasha stars Arif Hassan, Samiya Mumtaz, Eman Suleman and Ali Qureshi in pivotal roles. The soundtrack of the film has been composed by Lux Style Award winners, Saakin.

Recently, Zindagi Tamasha’s trailer was removed from YouTube which caused quite a stir of controversies. Sarmad Khoosat himself took to his social media to explain why the trailer was taken down and when it could be seen again.

“Khoosat Films took down the trailer from YouTube themselves. A trailer is just a tiny part of the entire film, there’s no context so a few people had some issues regarding the content of that clip and we took that into account. After minor tweaks, we’ll reupload it soon enough,” stated Sarmad.

Sarmad Khoosat recently dropped the trailer of his upcoming film Zindagi Tamasha and wowed the audience. The trailer offered an insight into the film, bringing across a myriad of emotions. Zindagi Tamasha came across as a film that would depict the dark secrets and double faced nature of this society and how it shuns the ones it condemns.

The film starring Arif Hasan, Samiya Mumtaz and Eman Suleman in pivotal roles is slated to release in Pakistan soon. However, before it can release all over in the country, Zindagi Tamasha, was slated to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. And now, as news has it, it has also been nominated for an award as well.

Sarmad Khoosat himself shared the news that Zindagi Tamasha, had been nominated for the Kim Jeosuk Award at the BIFF, even before its screening. The director, who will also be having a cameo role in the film, took to his Twitter to make the announcement.

The Kim Jiseok Award is a new award established in 2017 and aims at encouraging and discovering the growth and new talents of Asian Cinema. For the award, the jury will select two films from two sections, one offering a window on Asian cinema and other from the latest and most-talked films of Asian directors. The winning films will be awarded USD 10,000 each.

His film Manto which was released in 2015 was the box office hit. He has done a 24 hours live performance against death sentence as awareness campaign last year that what a prisoner and his family goes through and it has to be abandoned. Sarmad has also done a stage play last year Jhanjhar di pawaan jhankar which was praised alot by the theater viewers. After Manto he is coming back with Zindagi Tamasha. Today is the 16th world day against death penalty. Pakistan is one of the most frequent user of death penalty. Despite a significant drop in death penalties, Pakistan still accounts for 13 percent of all global executions since December 2014. Justice Project Pakistan, an organisation working for prisoner’s rights, analyses Pakistan’s use of the death penalty and press for reforms.

In spirit of World Day against death penalty the Justice Project Pakistan in collaboration with olomopolo and highlights Arts has been presenting a groundbreaking 24 hr long performance that is being streamed LIVE on Dawn News around the world – charting the last day of a prisoner’s namely prisoner Z’s life before he is executed.

No Time To Sleep starring Sarmad Khoosat who is playing prisoner Z is primarily about the cruelty of time that is both long and short  while the ropes are tested. It’s a meditative twenty four hour performance following a prisoner while he prepares for execution. No Time to sleep is inspired from the story of prisoner Zulfiqar Who spent his last 17 years in prison waiting for his execution which was scheduled 22 times.

Sarmad Khoosat said “For the 24 hours that I will imbibe Zulfiqar’s story, I will be thinking of him. I’ll be thinking of his letters. I’ll comfort myself knowing that, at the end of 24 hours, I can go back home and be with my family and loved ones again.”

Zindagi Tamasha, a film directed by none other than a package of talent Sarmad Khoosat. From its trailers, it reveals that this film is going to be a masterpiece in terms of direction, screenplay, and cinematography.

The film has been officially cleared from the Central Board of Film censors but still unknown groups are trying to stop the release of the film.

An exceptionally talented director Sarmad Khoosat has written an open letter to the Government of Pakistan and talked about the hindrances in the release of his film.

He wrote, “Like any other film, made in any part of the world, Zindagi Tamasha is a reflection of its setting. My team and I explored themes around gender constructs, class divisions and complex human experiences. There was never any intention to attack, to point fingers at or humiliate any individual or institution.”

“Upon completion, the film was cleared by all three censor boards of Pakistan and had its world premiere at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival,” Khoosat continued.

“24 January was set as the release date. However, a ‘complaint’ was registered against the writer, the producer and myself, based on assumptions made from the two and a half minute long trailer.”

Sarmad Khoosat further added, “As a law-abiding citizen and with full conviction that there is nothing offensive or malicious in the film. In response, I submitted the film for another review to the censor board. It was cleared once again with a few cuts to appease the complainants.”

Khoosat wrote how the attempts are being made to stop the release of the film and said, “Just a week before the film’s release, another attempt is being made by the same group to stop the release of the film and this time they are hell-bent on using pressurising tactics.”

“I am bringing this to your notice not just because my team and I are being bullied and pressurised but also because this series of episodes undermines a state institution like the Central Board of Film Censors and strips it of its authority and stature,” Khoosat shared.

He concluded his note and wrote, “The space for rational and artistic thinking and expression must not be annexed by a few troublemakers for their political ends but I fear this is what will happen if we buckle under this time.”

Sarmad Khoosat’s upcoming film Zindagi Tamasha, recently screened at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. After completing its festival run, Zindagi Tamasha is slated for a release across Pakistan, the probable date for which is said to be January 2020 for now.

However, even before Zindagi Tamasha releases across cinemas in Pakistan, Sarmad Khoosat has already started work on his second feature film, Kamli. Kamli will be starring the very talented Saba Qamar alongside Sania Saeed and Hamza Khawaja in pivotal roles. Principal photography for the film will begin this week across Pakistan.

In a recent interview with Variety, Sarmad Khoosat shared an insight about his upcoming film, Kamli. 

“A tragic love story at heart, the film is going to be a fresh mix of a rustic setting captured in a contemporary, universal sensibility,” said Sarmad Khoosat about Kamli.

Adding further, the veteran filmmaker also stated, “Unlike other films of the genre, ‘Kamli’ is not only going to depict the vibrancy and humour of rural Punjab, but also its poetic lyricism and love-lore in an international film aesthetic.”

According to the interview, Khoosat Films is eyeing to release Kamli in the summers of 2020.

About Zindagi Tamasha and its theme, Sarmad shared, “What was most important to me was exploring the idea of tolerance. Tolerance not just to others (to allow people to exist the way they are) but also tolerance to self – and this is where the concept of shame, need for approval etc. come in to play,” said Khoosat.

“I have been in situations where I have felt I should have been more tolerant of others and more accepting of my own self,” added the Manto star further.

Sarmad Khoosat is one of the most versatile people. He is an excellent actor, film/TV director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for directing the TV dramas Humsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat.

Sarmad Khoosat’s latest project Zindagi Tamasha was recently screened at Busan Film Festival and also managed to bag an international nomination prior to its release.

Sarmad is working on another film named Kamli which is a star-studded affair; a tragic love story with Saba Qamar, Sania Saeed and Hamza Khawaja leading the cast.

Sarmad Khoosat announced the dates fo Kamli and wrote, “The two powerhouses of talent @thesaniasaeed and @sabaqamarzaman standing tall and mighty As soon as we are done with the release of Zindagi Tamasha, post-production work will start on Kamli more to follow February 2020 onwards InshaAllah! This haunting image has been captured by the up and coming and super talented cinematographer of Kamli @awaisgohar.”

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is an amazing director who has directed many hit projects including Humsafar, Pani Jesa Piyar, Manto and Shehr E Zaat. He is currently set to release his upcoming movie Kamli.

Recently, the director appeared in The Current Pk’s short chit chat session in which he revealed about his upcoming film Kamli and his amazing co-star Saba Qamar.

Talking about film, he said, “Film is just about to release, it’s a big test for director which brings in anxiety. We filmed Kamli in 2019, then we all got locked, I did detailed editing of the film, slowly and steadily . Now post production of the film is done. The printing of posters is going on and after that it will be released.

Talking about Saba he said that she is so amazing and she has kept her passion and fire alive, that fire and passion makes her even more special also that passion canbe seen in her work.

Talking about doing an Under water shoot he said that it was tough as it was solely dependent on camera , so he couldn’t monitor the shoot under water. He said that he had good experience working with new talent.

He said that the movie Kamli is Female centric film, it is a romance at heart, it genre is drama, it’s a psychological drama. The film is very special.

If there was one person in the Pakistani entertainment industry that we’d have to refer to as a creative genius, it would be none other than Sarmad Sultan Khoosat. “We have a relative who keeps budging me to get married again since I’ll soon be 40,” said the Manto actor.

Adding further, Khoosat stated, “Well I did get married (only nikkah) at the age of 27 because I felt it was right at that time. But then later on I felt it wasn’t right and I wasn’t cut out of that so we decided to call it quits.”

Mentioning that it was only a nikkah and nothing had gone wrong yet, Sarmad said he told his family it wouldn’t really work out for him. “I told her “I’m done with you,” thrice in front of my family. But since I had given my wife the right of divorce as well so the divorce deed that we have is filed from her side,” said Sarmad.

Currently, Sarmad states he’s in a relationship and has been enjoying all its phases. On the work front, the director awaits the release of his next film, Zindagi Tamasha, while he works on the other, titled Kamli, with ace actress Saba Qamar in the lead.

Sarmad Khoosat has established himself as a huge package of talent. Be it direction or acting, Sarmad has always touched new heights. He has made a name for himself and became everyone’s favourite director with Humsafar. Aakhri Station showed more of his prowess in the field of direction. Sarmad has announced that he is ready with two other films. One of the films is written by NCA student Nirmal Bano. It is a Punjabi film. All the work from casting to script writing is done and the shooting for the film will begin soon.

The second film will be written by Sarmad himself. He is working on it and the final product is not ready yet but it will be soon ready and the shooting for it will start next year.

Qamar and Khoosat have previously worked in Sarmad Khoosat’s directorial Manto. The film released critical acclaim and the same is being expected of Kamli.
