Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review – Loved It!

I am so glad that I didn’t give up on this play because tonight’s episode and the previous few episodes of MTSNH have kept me glued to my television screen. The story has taken a really interesting turn, with this episode the viewers were once again taken back to the present scene from where the drama started. These scenes reminded me of my first impression of this drama and I must say that with its the highs and lows, overall this has been a very interesting journey. Few weeks back if someone had told me that this drama was going to be one of those dramas I will be looking forward to most eagerly, I wouldn’t have believed them but here I am thinking how will I wait another week to find out what happened to Gulrez and when will Waqar finally mention what was written in the diary.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review - Loved It!

After watching tonight’s episode, I am pretty sure that the viewers will get to see every little detail because right now every reaction and all the minor details count a lot. For example in tonight’s episode when Gulrez read the letter, the contents of the letter and his reaction was covered perfectly. Later on, the scene in which Maheen read the letter was also directed well. Waqar’s reaction was also shown convincingly. Also, right now the screenplay is such that it stirs the viewer’s curiosity. Right till the end I was waiting to find out what happened to Gulrez and that is the main reason why I am more curious than ever to find out if he is alive or not and if he died then what happened to him. I am also wondering what happened to that diary and where is Jia right now. What role she played after Waqar left? Lots of questions!

Tonight’s episode was the beginning of that part of the story which all the viewers had been waiting for and I must say that although it came late but it was completely worth the wait! It also came at a time when even those of the viewers (like me) who were finding it hard to connect to some of the characters and situations are completely into all the tracks in the story. Everyone’s performance was right on point in this episode and even those scenes which were somewhat slow were truly impactful. Ayeza Khan looked absolutely gorgeous as a bride and the entire scenario couldn’t have been covered more perfectly.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 24 Review - Loved It!

One thing which made this episode a complete winner was the way everyone’s feelings were covered. The manner in which everyone went from being over the moon to down in the dumps made the entire situation even more relatable. This was the kind of episode which completely transports you to another world and you feel everything which the characters are going through. The change in Maheen and Waqar’s outlook in particular when the story was taken back to the present time was also more noticeable now than ever. Maheen looked like someone who had been through a lot and Waqar too had aged. So far, Waqar only wants to know what happened after he left because of the extreme reaction by Neelam in particular and everyone else in general but he has not yet revealed the reason why he left. Given this family’s history, the entire situation can take an about turn at any given moment therefore I am pretty sure that these last few episodes will keep the viewers at the edge of their seats!

This had to be one of my favorite episodes of MTSNH. It has some amazing dialogues to its credit and I love the way Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has penned this story down. This is yet another love story written by him which is anything but clichéd. How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 23 Review – Intriguing!

Tonight’s episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei was somewhat slow but it had some significant developments to its credit nonetheless. This latest episode laid the foundations for one of the most important twists in the story which will be seen in the next episode and which will change everything altogether. Tonight’s episode was also important because it altered the dynamics of Waqar and Maheen’s relationship with each other. There were some scenes which could have been chopped down and the background score was terribly annoying at times. Waqar and Maheen finally accepted and professed their love for each other, this was actually the moment that many of the viewers had been waiting for. I must say that there couldn’t have been a more perfect time to create this misunderstanding between these two individuals because right now otherwise it seems like nothing can wrong between them. Even Ami begum has accepted this relationship and is even happy that Waqar and Maheen are getting married. Although Gulrez is heart broken but he has proved that he is a really strong person who can put his feelings for Maheen aside and do whatever he can to let Waqar and Maheen know that he is happy for them. All the characters are at their best at the moment. Waqar and Maheen are finally head over heels in love and Jia is doing whatever she can to make sure that these two do not get their happy ending. Although Jia’s character isn’t the least bit likeable but without her this story wouldn’t have been as interesting as it is.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 23 Review - Intriguing!

Neelam’s scenes were used effectively to show how sure Gulrez was that Maheen was the one he was going to get married to. However, the fact that this bachpan ki mangni bit was completely missing from the first few episodes since Maheen was shocked to hear that she was getting married to Gulrez therefore it is definitely difficult even now to connect to this part of the story. While one feels for Gulrez, you can’t help but root for Maheen and Waqar since they love each other. It is also good to see them acknowledging the sacrifice Gulrez is making in different ways. I am glad that Gulrez’s character has not been relegated to the background in fact his character now is being given more screen time than before and his feelings are being highlighted. This is the reason why the viewers right now are equally interested in finding out why Neelam was standing in front of Gulrez’s picture and crying in the beginning of the drama. While Waqar and Maheen’s track seems predictable right now, it is difficult to predict what will happen to Gulrez once Waqar disappears on his wedding day. Gulrez was actually wearing a sherwani in the preview of the next episode!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 23 Review - Intriguing!

The conversation about the thappar on the breakfast table was one such discussion which could have been chopped down or even if it wasn’t part of this episode, it wouldn’t have been missed! The conversation between Jia and Maheen showed how hard Jia was trying to remind Maheen how much she hated Waqar. It also reflected Jia’s feelings when Maheen was so willing to forgive Waqar and she admitted that she loved him! Jia’s father is completely out of the picture right now and I wonder if he will make an appearance again since besides Jia, he is the only one who knows what happened in the past.

The weakest link of this drama so far is the way it has been directed, other than that the story is getting more interesting and the drama is headed towards an ending which, it seems like, was worth waiting for. I am eagerly looking forward to the next episode and I also wish that Geo would keep its previews for the upcoming episodes short and sweet! The preview of the upcoming episode did not leave a lot to the viewers’ imagination unless the next episode has some surprise in store for the viewers! The youngsters in this drama are definitely giving more solid performances than the older members of the cast. Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas, Shehzad sheikh and Kinza Hashmi gave impressive performances in this episode and have done complete justice to their characters throughout.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 22 Review – Good One!

This drama has finally picked up pace and it seems like the viewers will probably get to see few interesting and happening episodes as the drama is headed towards a climax worth looking forward to. There are still a lot of questions which need to be answered and it is impossible to predict how the drama will end since there is still a chance that Waqar can explain to everyone what actually happened. This will however open a new Pandora box but it will turn things around for Waqar and Maheen in particular.

The opening scene of tonight’s episode showed Neelam breaking the news of Waqar and Maheen’s marriage to Gulrez. Although Gulrez’s initial reaction was that of shock but later on he proved that he was much more brave than everyone else around him. There was a time when I did not feel anything for Gulrez but watching him support Waqar and Maheen like that was heart-rending. Watching Waqar and Maheen having a normal conversation for a change was the highlight of tonight’s episode. This was the first time that these two did not argue with one another but actually talked about things which mattered. Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan’s on-screen chemistry and the way these scenes were shot was perfect. Both these actors looked great and acted superbly too. It was also good to watch them discussing Gulrez.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 22 Review - Good One!

Ami Begum played a major role in making Waqar confess his love for Maheen. If it weren’t for her, this marriage wouldn’t be taking place at this point. I have to say that Ami Begum redeemed herself tonight and I have forgiven her for every silly game she played in the previous few episodes. The second scene of this episode looked like an extension of the scene that was shown in the 2nd episode in which these gang members took Gulrez’s car away. Ali made an appearance after a long time tonight and I have to say I missed his character. Even though he does not have a big role to play in the story but he was introduced as an important character therefore I feel he should have been part of every other episode if not all the episodes.

Jia is all set to take revenge from Aurangzeb and the preview of the next episode suggested that Maheen’s declaration of love for Waqar will prove to be the reason why she finally goes ahead with her plan. Jia has always been shown as a negative person therefore it never came as a surprise that she planned something like this. It is however difficult to understand why no one ever suspected her since she can be very transparent at times. Jia’s father is completely out of the picture for now which basically goes to show that there are too many characters in the play but the screen time has not been distributed properly among all of them.

Overall, this was an interesting episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei which gave me a reason to look forward to what this show has in store for us in the coming weeks. I hope things continue to move forward with the same pace right till the end.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 21 Review – Must-Watch!

This had to be one of the best episodes of MTSNH so far; the story moved forward at a rapid pace and all these developments were unexpected. Ami begum’s realization and Gulrez’s wisdom came as a complete surprise and for the first time these two characters had to be the best part of an entire episode. Ami Begum’s scenes were funny as well (and this time in a good way!). The way she asked her daughter to reassure her that she wasn’t such a bad person and later on her use of English language was hilarious! It was great watching her realize her mistake and making a decision which was going to hurt Gulrez but which was definitely better than the one she had taken before. Saman Ansari has always played an important role in all the dramas she has ever been part of therefore it was also a pleasant surprise watching Mehrunissa’s character which seemed unimportant few weeks back, playing a major role in making Ami Begum’s reflect upon her behaviour and actions.

Gulrez and Maheen’s conversation was the highlight of tonight’s episode mainly because of the fact that Gulrez turned out to be much more wise than everyone gave him credit for. Gulrez has always been shown as a sensitive person therefore watching him take such a bold step which was surely going to break his heart was very touching. Also, watching Maheen believing what he said instantly was a refreshing change since Maheen usually does not get convinced so easily. Ayeza Khan was phenomenal in this particular scene, the change in her expressions when Gulrez told her the reason why Waqar was all of a sudden saying something entirely different made this scene more impactful. Gulrez’s suggestion that Maheen’s baraat should go on his foxy was another brilliant addition to this scene. This was the most important scene because it had a major development to its credit and it was handled faultlessly.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 21 Review - Must-Watch!

Jia is investing all her time and energy into taking revenge from Maheen for what her father did. She managed to make Waqar think that Maheen might be playing games with him. Before his conversation with Jia, he was fully convinced that Maheen loved her. Jia has done all her homework and now when she shows Waqar the diary he will walk away from this marriage and I guess it is easy to tell now why everyone hated him so much. It still remains to be seen what happened to Gulrez. Will he die in an accident too just like his parents?

For the first time I enjoyed watching all the mind games which the characters played with one another because they are headed towards a definite direction. This episode also had some impressive dialogues which explained Ami Begum and Gulrez’s state of mind in particular. Although the story can pretty much be summed up as kon bane ga Maheen ka shauhar but even then the intricate relationship of all these characters with each other and also the fact that the drama is headed towards an interesting finale makes it a must-watch at this point at least. There are dramas which get slow towards the end and test your patience and then there are those like Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei which test your patience for weeks but get really interesting towards the end!! Looking forward to the next episode because the promo looked enticing!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review – A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

Waqar and Maheen’s track has been going around in circles for many weeks now and the only time these two characters come face to face is when Maheen wants to confront Waqar. Tonight, Waqar decided to do exactly what he promised Neelam he would do and Maheen fell for his lie immediately. However I don’t really understand when Waqar flirted with Maheen? He was leaving for England and Maheen stopped him, did I miss something? Having said that, I must add that the fact that these two have never really shared their feelings with each other made this entire development convincing. The lack of communication is the main reason why it was so easy for Waqar to fool Maheen. Also, Maheen has a big ego therefore she will never question Waqar’s action. Am I the only one who finds Ami Begum’s exaggerated reactions to everything around her funny now? Like every other episode, I felt for Waqar more than anyone else. I am glad though that for once Ami begum did not misunderstand him. She knows that he is lying but even then, that thappar was totally uncalled for!! Ami’s begum is a wise woman whose intentions are at times right but her actions most often are so wrong and off-putting!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

Fajr’s role in Maheen and Waqar’s track in this episode was difficult to relate to since she has always been shown as someone who takes wise decisions. She knows just how impulsive Maheen is and what frame of mind Waqar was in but even then she went and told Maheen everything. Ali and Wali were getting plenty of screen time in the first 13 episodes or so but all of a sudden, they are completely out of the picture. Wali’s character in particular was always highlighted as an important one yet he is nowhere to be found now!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

For the first time Jia and Maheen had a serious conversation about Jia’s personal life. The viewers never knew that Jia had shared these details with Maheen because their conversations usually revolve around Waqar. These conversations should have been shown; Jia’s sentiments and Maheen’s reactions to them would have been interesting to watch. This way, the viewers could have seen the difference between the two. Tonight, when Jia told Maheen what her plan was, Maheen could not relate to Jia’s frame of mind. Right from the beginning Jia has been shown as someone who has a lot of pent up anger therefore the negativity with which she is dealing with the situation is completely in line with her character. It was rather odd watching so many characters dressed to impress in the middle of the night especially Maheen’s mother, Ami begum and Fajr. It is good to see Mehrunissa’s character shaping up to be one of the most sensible characters in the play. Saman Ansari has always chosen to play significant roles which surprise you especially towards the end and she always excels in them.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Episode 20 Review - A Sacrifice & Another Misunderstanding

The story is moving forward gradually and it’s about time that it came to an end since we have seen Waqar admitting he loves Maheen and then denying it not once but twice now. The preview of the next episode showed Ami begum reflecting on her actions and Maheen promising Gulrez that her barat will go on his foxy! I am definitely waiting to find out how the drama ends because there is still a possibility that Maheen and Waqar might end up together. I also want to know what happens to Gulrez in the end since the first episode suggested that his track ended tragically. I still think that this drama could have been a lot more entertaining if the director executed it differently.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 9 Review – Overcrowded & Vague

Sitting through tonight’s episode was nothing short of a challenge not only because of the timing but also because the director apparently took this script a little too seriously!! Even in situations which are completely comical, the scenes are shot in such detail that everything you see is more staged than anything else. There are always people in the background either nodding their heads or laughing in these situations and the focus is never on the main subject. The backgrounds are being highlighted more than necessary and the ever-present music does not help either. Ami begum’s fake heart attack was interesting but the way everyone gathered around her and the focus on everyone’s body language and expressions gave a really strange feel to the whole scenario like they were a bunch of children getting excited over nothing. Later on when Ami Begum wanted everyone to boycott Waqar Ahmed, everyone was so involved in that situation too. I never thought I would say this about a drama but I feel that all the scenes in this drama are too overcrowded and overstated. There are so many people in this household but the story is revolving around only 2 characters (Maheen and Waqar) in particular and generally around four (Ami begum, Gulrez, Waqar and Maheen) of them. All the other family members do not even have definite characters and definitely no stories of their own! Even tonight, there were some scenes which were amusing but overall, there are so many glaring flaws in the execution of the script in particular that even the minor flaws in the script are very noticeable.

Finally somebody decided to talk to Maheen about Gulrez’s proposal. An entire episode was dedicated to Maheen’s reaction to the proposal and the possible outcome but later on it was almost as if everyone around Maheen forgot all about it! The perfume and book simile was one of the many forced dialogues in this drama which count as added philosophical discussions that are definitely not needed!! The message could have been conveyed in a much better manner without comparing Gulrez to a book (which is obviously a thing!). I felt like Neelam was belittling her brother (although she was not doing that of course) by comparing him to a commodity like that, it was certainly in bad taste. Also, I don’t understand why every character in this drama is bent on being philosophical even when certain scenarios can easily be covered without delving into details which are usually out of context!

Since many of the wonderful actors in this drama, who do not even need to prove that they are good at what they do, have given some very exaggerated performances, therefore one can safely conclude that the director ordered them to give these expressions which are anything but subtle! Maheen was cute for a while but her character doesn’t have a lot to offer. Like many of the other characters in the play, it is somewhat vague. She is gradually falling in love with Waqar and she cannot see him getting married to Jia, she is headstrong and bubbly but that’s about it! The character isn’t appealing enough and unfortunately Ayeza Khan’s performance looks a lot like acting! Like I said, I completely hold the director responsible for this because even someone like Saman Ansari is acting very artificial in this drama. Haroon Kadwani and Kinza Hashmi are making the most of the roles assigned to them but the fact is that they are also being used as props in a lot of scenes.

The story moved forward slightly in this episode but the characters in this play can easily be very annoying mainly because of the way they have been translated on screen. Maheen and Waqar’s track has potential but the overall execution of this play is so weak that I seriously doubt that the director or the writer will exploit this potential to the fullest. The only good thing about this episode was that Jia did not get a lot of screen time, other than that the episode overall was just like any other episode of this drama – a lot of talking, very little action, too many emotions, not enough content or depth!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 8 Review – Snoozefest

It was awfully difficult sitting through tonight’s episode which once again was one-dimensional because the focus of the story yet again was entirely on who should get married to whom! So far the story lacks depth and the characters have nothing grand to offer, in fact this drama has plenty of annoying characters. This episode did not have a single impactful or even entertaining scene to its credit. Watching these characters which are so plain, talking about love and commitment like they are experts in the field definitely makes it even more difficult to connect to their characters. Maheen has not yet given an answer to Gulrez’s proposal yet Ami Begum thinks it is a good time to force Waqar into getting married to someone he clearly does not want to get married to. I definitely expected better from Ami Begum’s character. What she did today was just plain shocking and not in line with her character at all. She has been shown as a really cool nani/dadi who has given Maheen plenty of time to think about Gulrez’s proposal but wants Waqar to marry Jia because he is friends with her. She is also very sure that Waqar is in love with Jia!! This had to be the most forced development in tonight’s episode.

The conversations in Gulrez’s house are even more monotonous and repetitive than the ones in Maheen’s house. Gulrez’s state of mind, his sister’s fears and his brother in law’s role in the entire scenario has been shown clearly in the past few episodes, now this track needs to move forward. No one in Maheen’s house except for her sister has talked about the proposal again. It is strange that Ami Begum is pursuing Waqar’s relationship with Jia more passionately than Gulrez’s proposal for Maheen. Everyone invested more time in talking about why Waqar left the match than discussing what to say to Gulrez’s sister or how to make Maheen come up with a decision. I hate to see talented actors like Saman Ansari and Malik Raza being wasted playing these useless characters which are like props more than anything else.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 8 Review - Snoozefest

The lyrics of the OST of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai are far more deep and meaningful than this drama as a whole. I hate to say this but this episode reminded me of Mann Mayal, the only difference is that back then I had more patience and stamina!! This episode proved that Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai is not likely to take off because it does not have enough substance. I definitely expected better from a writer like Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and right now I am very tempted to tune into Zakham because even though it is simple but it is much more entertaining than this play! It is impossible to connect to any of the characters, Jia and Ami begum are turning out to be two very unreasonable people! I was shocked when Jia sent Ami begum her father’s phone number since she hates him so much. This episode once again had some of the most dull conversations and the characters are losing their charm with every passing episode. Everything about this drama is too staged, from the scenarios to the way they have been enacted on screen. All those annoying commercials promoting shows which are going to be part of Geo’s Ramazan transmission made the whole experience of watching this drama live on television even more torturous! I am beyond disappointed with Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai and have no reason to look forward to the next episode!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 7 Review – Much Better Than Last Week

Those family ties which were a major attraction in the first few episodes were absent from the previous two episodes and the focus was entirely on Maheen, Gulrez and Waqar alone. Tonight too although there was a lot of focus on these three but this episode also had scenes in which the family was shown spending time together and doing something other than discussing why Maheen hated Waqar so much and whether she will agree to Gulrez’s proposal or not. The scene in which the family was shown playing cricket was particularly interesting. Gulrez’s batting, Waqar practicing hours before the match started and most importantly ami begum’s role throughout was very amusing. Also, most of the scenes in tonight’s episode were more in line with the overall story and unlike the previous episode there weren’t a lot of filler scenes in this one.

Jia and Maheen’s friendship and Jia’s character and track in particular has to be the most annoying part of this drama. The marjaniye dialogues are weird to say the least and the fact that Jia claims to be Maheen’s best friend but at the same time puts a guy she just met before her makes her character unappealing. Her character is like one of those desperate girls we see in dramas all the time who fall in love with a man instantly and will do anything to make them their own. She is a modern version of the character played by Yumna Zaidi in Zara Yaad Kar. So, there was no particular reason why the episode ended with Jia’s father looking at Maheen like that! Basically the important aspect was Maheen walking out of the party but the camera froze on Jia’s dad, I don’t understand the logic behind it at all! Jia’s father’s track is being revealed gradually, I hope there is a good reason why this track is getting so much importance!

It is quite apparent what role Jia is going to play in the story. Although Maheen claims to hate Waqar but at the same time, she cannot stand it when he is with Jia. Jia’s dialogues showed that she has a one-track mind, when she isn’t talking about Maheen and Waqar’s relationship with each other, she is most often questioning Waqar about their relationship status.

Everyone’s make-up and styling was terrible in tonight’s episode and the bad lighting did not help either. The drama has a very “old” feel to it, which would have been alright if the story or the theme of the play as a whole was meaningful, deep and very touching like the first episode. The overall feel of this part of the story should have been different (more lively) to match the developments we are watching in these episodes. In this day and age when viewers are so used to watching dramas with the best picture quality, for most viewers the overall picture quality of this play would be enough to switch channels.

The dialogues in general, in which everyone refers to Maheen or Waqar as vo ya usay etc are getting repetitive and make it look like none of these people are allowed to call them by their names. There were tons of ” Us se baat krne ja rahi. vo so rahi hai. vo nahi aa rahi kya. vo aa gaya. us ne sorry keh diya.” dialogues in this episode as well. There is nothing odd about such dialogues if all the characters involved know who is the subject of the conversation. The “suspense” in these dialogues isn’t interesting at all, I actually find them funny!

Overall, this was a much better episode which gave me hope that the story might be back on track but the fact is that the overall treatment given to this story isn’t right therefore I doubt that Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai will be the kind of drama most of us were expecting it to be particularly after watching the first episode.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 6 – Viewers Zara Tham Ke!

This episode took dragging a certain issue which seems more like a non-issue right now to a whole new level and I have to admit that even though I was being really patient and tried my best to enjoy these conversations but I just could not do that!! I love Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s dialogues but only when they go well with the situation being presented on screen. Also, it is particularly odd that even these young people who are supposed to be fun loving and carefree speak like philosophers! It reminds me of the days when I was teaching; when we got an extra class and didn’t have enough to content to keep the students occupied, we sometimes used to talk about irrelevant things which were important generally but had nothing to do with that particular class!!

Gulrez might be sensitive and he will probably not take rejection well but the fact that most of the conversations in this episode revolved around Gulrez’s state of mind and whether Maheen will accept or reject the proposal was truly annoying especially because this has been going on for 3 episodes now!! The thought running through my head during this episode was, “God!!!! these people really need to get a life!!” I hate to say this but the first episode of this drama gave a completely different introduction to the story. It promised something meaningful and intense but what we are watching right now are a lot of heavy duty dialogues with very little context!

I am glad that Ayeza Khan is experimenting with her looks but her loud make-up, those curls and especially the dress she wore tonight when Maheen was out shopping was a little too over the top! That was a formal outfit which no one will wear to a mall or even during day time when they are out and about. Maheen should have been dressed in a fun and trendy manner but her overall outlook is more exaggerated than anything else. Fajr got a lot of screen time in tonight’s episode and her over excitement was cute as long as it looked like it will eventually lead to something but after those long scenes in which she tried to convince Gulrez that he should go ahead and hold Maheen’s hand (since that somehow will do the trick!) when Gulrez just backed out and turned to his foxy for comfort, I felt cheated!

The only conversation which I enjoyed was the one the entire family had when Maheen was at ami begum’s house. It was good to see someone talking about Waqar for a change! I am also surprised that ami begum values and loves Maheen more and was being very judgmental about Waqar even at this point when he was supposed to be very close to her.

I still feel that all the characters have a refreshing feel to them overall but the story so far does not have a lot to offer. The previous episode ended with Jia arguing with her father and this one too ended with him looking at Maheen while she got up to leave the party. Is there a connection between these two? The way his character is being gradually revealed, it seems like there is more to this track. Honestly speaking, I am tired of watching Faryal Mahmood play such roles and just like Ayeza Khan, she too is wearing a lot more make-up than required. Waqar Ahmed apologized to Maheen in this episode and it is highly likely that there is an “agenda” behind this apology. I have no idea why the background score was so romantic every time Waqar and Maheen met, it seemed out of place.

This episode was just as slow-paced as the last one and the conversations were highly repetitive. I hope it picks up pace and becomes more interesting in the upcoming episodes. I am pretty sure now that the viewers will have to watch this drama “zara tham ke” since the writer is in no hurry to take the story forward ;) Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar ko “halka na lei”!!!

PS: The review reflects my views about this episode and not the drama as a whole therefore like any other sensible and open-minded person, I am more than willing to enjoy future episodes if they are enjoyable!!!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 5 Review – Lackluster

The first episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai was mind-blowing, the second one was entertaining and made me inquisitive, the third one was somewhat interesting, the fourth episode had its good and bad points and this fifth episode was strictly okay. So far, the writer and the director in particular have failed to give the viewers the kind of screenplay which would keep them glued to their television screens. The personality traits of the main leads are being revealed bit by bit therefore the viewers need a lot of patience to sit through this one. Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai hasn’t really taken off just yet, I hope that it will eventually become more interesting. The ever-present sad background score in this episode and added melodrama even in situations where it wasn’t needed made some of the scenes difficult to connect to because the emotions seemed forced. Such scenes also give a depressing feel to the drama even though right now the story is not very serious or depressing. The actress playing Maheen’s mother is a complete misfit in the role and Jia’s track is unappealing at the moment. I am a big fan of Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s dialogues but somehow the way some of these dialogues were delivered in tonight’s episode was disappointing and some of the philosophical bits didn’t quite fit in.

The entire situation which eventually lead to Ami begum opening Waqar’s sling was interesting but it wasn’t directed skillfully. Eventually when Waqar started bleeding, the scene was difficult to watch but at the same time it was quite realistic. The viewers found out more about Waqar’s character in this episode; he does not believe in falling in love because apparently people in England don’t have the time to fall in love! Waqar is westernized and very different from rest of his family. Maheen felt sorry for Waqar for the first time and was genuinely disturbed after the incident but even then she did not forgive him. Gulrez appeared in the first 5 minutes of this episode wanting to talk to Maheen but he never made it to her room. Later on, his conversation with Waqar revealed a great deal about his personality and the differences in their personalities. They are like two opposite sides of the pole. This episode clearly showed that Waqar has absolutely no feelings for Maheen just yet. I am glad the foxy is out of the picture for now and I am pretty sure it was used to show Gulrez’s personality; he gets attached to things and then it is very difficult for him to let go. Shehzad sheikh was definitely a great choice for playing this role.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 5 Review - Lackluster

Neelam’s visit to the mazar and the flashback scene once again showed what effect Maheen’s refusal could have on Gulrez and how concerned Neelam was for him. Honestly speaking now after watching these 3 episodes, I am thinking, it would have been so much better if the first episode was different and we started from the present! I find myself continuously assuming things which isn’t always fun especially because naturally it will take weeks for the whole story to be revealed.

This episode should have ended with Gulrez finally telling Maheen how he felt about her instead of Jia’s scene with her father! Am I the only one who isn’t interested in Jia’s track at all? I find her terribly annoying so far. As a whole, the magic that I was expecting from this episode and even from the previous one was completely absent.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 4 Review – Highs & Lows

Thankfully, the foxy did not get all the attention it got in the previous two episodes and this episode focused more on Waqar than any other character. It also gave the viewers more of an insight into the relationship between Maheen and Waqar. Waqar apparently does not like the fact that Maheen gets so much attention from everyone therefore he does whatever he can to make her miserable and ultimately faked a fracture in this episode because he knew that he won’t be spared this time around. Honestly speaking, I really enjoyed watching Imran Abbas play such a character because his character in Tum Kon Piya was very mature and practical.

There were a lot of scenarios in tonight’s episode which came across as a good surprise; from the I hate you scene to the one in which Maheen and Waqar bumped into one another, everything had a fresh feel to it. In any other love story these two would have fallen in love already but this was most certainly not the case here. Maheen didn’t really faint when she bumped into Waqar but she too wanted everyone to think that the intensity of this accident was much more than it actually was. Instead of feeling for Maheen and apologizing to her, Waqar went looking for a cover up, in fact something which will take the attention away from Maheen! I loved the way this entire track was handled, right now these two people cannot even stand one another therefore I am waiting to find out how their relationship evolves in the future.

Jia and Maheen’s meeting didn’t work for me at all, the word “mar janiye” sounded really weird and the fact that the entire conversation was about Waqar was rather strange too. Right now, Jia’s character is the only one which isn’t appealing to me at all. It didn’t seem like she liked Waqar before in that way but once she knew he wasn’t there to get engaged to Maheen, she wanted more from this relationship. Not just this, all of the conversations between Waqar, Fajr and Ali too were about Maheen. Also, there wasn’t a single scene of Maheen with her “gang members”. It is also strange that none of the family members, other than Neelam and Gulrez talked about the proposal after the birthday.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 4 Review - Highs & Lows

Wali’s character is also turning out to be an interesting one mainly because of the fact that although he is Gulrez’s brother in law but he looks out for him and understands him more than his sister. Neelam’s conversations with Gulrez are frank and show how close these two are to each other but Wali is the one who knows Gulrez inside out. Neelam’s conversation with Gulrez tonight showed that he will never go and ask Maheen what her answer was going to be or why she reacted like that to the proposal because he does not have the confidence to do that.

The second half of the episode was much better than the first one but if I had to compare, I would say that the first episode was the best. I am enjoying this show and I am also curious to find out what happens next but this entire show would have been so much better if all the tracks got a certain amount of screen time in every episode instead of focusing on different characters and tracks more than others in every episode. Sammi is one such drama in which there are multiple tracks but all these tracks get plenty of screen time in every episode.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 3 Review – Interesting Family Ties

First things first, After watching this episode, I watched the previous episode again in an attempt to figure out how all these characters are related and here is what I think, correct me if you think I am wrong.

Dastoor Ahmed – Ami Begum’s son
Mehrunissa- Dastoor’s wife
Ali – Dastoor’s son
Ami begum lives with Dastoor Ahmed.
Neelam and Gulrez – Brother and sister – also the children of ami’s begum’s daughter who died in an accident?
Waqar – Ami Begum’s son’s son, who died in the same accident.
Maheen and Waqar are cousins. Maheen’s mother is Waqar’s phupo.
Fajr and Maheen are sisters
Waqar and Wali are brothers? (same surname but then Wali was calling Mehrunissa mami in the previous episode which could mean he is Maheen’s brother. Why is his surname Ahmed then? Helppppp!!)
Maheen’s mother is ami begum’s daughter.

Although, usually I don’t mind when the promos give the story away a little and even if the actors who are part of the drama share details about different characters and their feelings but after watching this episode in particular, I was missing more than ever those times when we had no clue which turn the story was likely to take in the upcoming episodes. The reason for this is that right now Gulrez and Maheen do not come across as a possible match at all and it seems impossible that Maheen will even consider this proposal seriously. Also, Wali’s dialogue today about all the tragedies in the family and what might happen if Maheen refused to accept this proposal, Neelam’s reaction when she saw Waqar in the first episode and the way she stood in front of Gulrez’s photograph kind of reveals which way the story is headed. Having said that, I am eagerly waiting to find out what turn these relationships take.

This episode gave the viewers an insight into the leading characters in particular except for Waqar, I still feel like I don’t know him well enough yet. Gulrez is kanjoos, he is bhola and he is also very sensitive. In the previous episode the viewers got the impression that Neelam and Ama Begum wanted Maheen to get married to Gulrez and he was as unaware of these developments as Maheen was but in this episode the viewers found out that Gulrez loves Maheen but he never had the courage to say it to her because of obvious reasons! Gulrez’s character is interesting, you can’t help but like him. Shehzad sheikh fits the role perfectly, I like his acting and overall look too.

Waqar Ahmed returned to Pakistan after 4 years and he met Jia on the way. Jia is also Maheen’s friend therefore she already knows a lot about Waqar’s family. I really wanted to see how everyone welcomed Waqar and perhaps more of a continuation of the last scene of the previous episode. It felt strange watching everyone following Maheen back home, I felt like there were a lot of gaps which needed to be filled there. So, the birthday party came to an end after Maheen walked out? The explanation Maheen gave to her mother went to show that she was impulsive and adventurous but she would never hurt her mother or anyone else on purpose.

I must say that the one scene in which Maheen and Waqar were together was electrifying. There is an undeniable chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas which makes their scenes a treat to watch. You can totally see that they are a far more compatible couple, even with all their “hatred” for each other, than Gulrez and Maheen. Waqar’s behavior towards Maheen completely changed after Fajr told him that Maheen cried a lot because of what Waqar did. I am surprised that this whole thappar issue is being mentioned so casually by everyone considering the fact that Maheen is such a ladli.

Right now the one thing which makes Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai different from other plays is the way the family ties have been shown. I feel like I am watching a drama from another era because it has been a long time since we watched relationships like these which are genuine and there is no backbiting, plotting and planning. All these people care about each other in some way whether they are young or old. Wali goes out of his way to help Gulrez out even though he is also sick of his obsession with his foxy. Neelam and Gulrez’s conversation showed how Neelam looks out for him. The older people are not seen lecturing the younger lot but they are part of the “gang”! The carefree timelessness of the younger lot has been captured brilliantly especially because we saw in the first episode how much these characters will change in a few years.

It was a decent episode which definitely gave me a reason to tune into this drama next week. The characters are appealing, their stories right now are simple yet engaging and the most important aspect is the way these characters have been translated on screen. Ami Begum’s character is already my favorite. The way she loves being part of the gang and the manner in which she covered up for Maheen was adorable. Saba Faisal is absolutely remarkable as ami begum. I just hope that the foxy is getting so much “screen time” for a good reason!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 2 Review – Brilliantly Executed

The screenplay, the dialogues, the performances and the makeovers had to be the best part of tonight’s episode. I am quite impressed by the fact that team Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai has been completely successful in transporting the viewers to their world. The overall feel of this episode was completely different from that of the previous episode but it was equally novel and I felt an instant connection with all the characters. Although this episode was not as perfect as the last one but it was engaging nevertheless and definitely gave me a reason to look forward to more. The first scene was absolutely brilliant, the way ama begum looked at Maheen  and the OST playing in the background while Maheen cried, made this scene more powerful. It was a very clever move by the writer and director to keep the suspense alive by introducing Waqar Ahmed’s character in the end because most of the viewers are more interested in finding out more about his character than any other.

In tonight’s episode the viewers saw how all these people who hated Waqar Ahmed now, once looked forward to his arrival excitedly. Maheen, who now is completely lifeless was once full of life, carefree and adventurous. Gulrez’s (Shehzad sheikh) character got a lot of screen time in this episode and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the way this character was translated on screen. I couldn’t have imagined that a drama which started off on such a serious note would make me laugh not once but many times in the second episode. Gulrez is Wali’s brother and his love for his foxy was the highlight of this episode. Maheen, who is his cousin, “stole” his car to make him miserable and to extract money from him as ransom.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 2 Review - Brilliantly Executed

The scenes covering everyone’s reaction when they found out that Gulrez’s foxy had been stolen were priceless. Everyone sympathized with the thief more than Gulrez and Neelam thanked god that it had been stolen! Although I thoroughly enjoyed everyone’s reaction and Gulrez’s fascination with his car but Ami begum completely stole the show not only because of those witty dialogues – “bechara Gulrez, bechara chor”  “chal angrezi mei bol” – but also because of Saba Faisal’s exceptional performance. Everything from her make-up to her body language and dialogue delivery is flawless. No other actress could have been performed this role better than her. Her character is very appealing but her acting makes it even more so.

One aspect of Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai which I completely love so far is the way all these family members are connected to each other. You don’t have to make an effort to understand how close all these people are to each other. It is also great watching Ayeza Khan experimenting with her looks and choosing projects which are different from one another. Gulrez is the kind of person who wins you over with his innocence instantly but you also understand why a girl like Maheen would not want to spend the rest her life with him. It has been a long time since I watched Shehzad sheikh perform, he did complete justice to his role in tonight’s episode. This episode ended with Wali dropping the bomb on Maheen and Waqar Ahmed entering the house.

So far none of the actors in this drama have been typecast, which is another aspect which makes Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai a must-watch. We don’t know much about Waqar’s character just yet therefore I am hoping that Imran Abbas’ character will also have a surprise in store. The background score was used effectively in this episode in all the scenes. This episode also ended too soon just like the previous one mainly because of the fact that the viewers have so many questions in their mind and it will take a long time for all of them to be answered. Watching this episode was a lot like reading a novel too, the only difference here is that when you are reading a novel you can read all you want to satisfy your curiosity and to find out what is going to happen next but in this case the viewers will have to be very patient.

I absolutely love the way the script has been written and executed so far, it is very classy! My favorite dialogue from tonight’s episode, “Tum jesa nahi dekha Gulrez Ahmed, tum mare nahi shaheed huve ho!!”

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 19 Review – Relatively Better!

This episode had some important developments to its credits which made it relatively more interesting but there were also a lot of scenes which were a little too slow and stretched to the limit. Ami Begum’s mind games in particular and Maheen’s mother’s antics were especially annoying. Neelam and Waqar’s scene was one of the best scenes of this episode; it was emotional and for the first time the viewers watched these two characters interacting on a completely different level. Waqar and Maheen’s track is complicated like most such track written by Khalil-ur-Rehman. Maheen shared the reasons why she was not getting in touch with Waqar and Waqar must have his own reasons too therefore these two will only meet when they finally decide to part ways! It was funny when Maheen’s mother locked her in the room and warned Fajr that only she could answer the phone when Maheen had her own cell phone with her!! How can her mother be so sure that she won’t call Waqar?

Waqar and Jia’s conversation was also very interesting! Jia’s proposal and Waqar’s suggestion both had ulterior motives. Jia also wanted to get married to Waqar but he has never shown any interest in her therefore at least right now she does not want to “help” him in any way. Just like Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua, this drama too shows how the male protagonist will sacrifice the love of his life to make other people around him happy. The women in both these dramas are important but they are definitely not the centre of attention. Also, the writer has put in more effort into giving the viewers a male lead they would feel for more than a female protagonist they would be rooting for! Right from the beginning Waqar has been a likeable character and a lot of viewers have been feeling for Gulrez. Maheen’s character has been the least likeable character among the main protagonists. Also, this is not the first time that Waqar is going to put everyone’s happiness before his own.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 19 Review - Relatively Better!

Ami Begum and Mehrunissa’s conversation could have been interesting if it didn’t look so staged! The dialogues are already heavy duty and the actors involved put in even more effort to deliver them in a distinctive manner which actually makes the whole scenario unrealistic and made-up. Gulrez’s voice in this episode also sounded dubbed and strange as well. Ayeza Khan’s acting when she was mimicking Ami Begum was right on point and funny.  Waqar’s character has been translated flawlessly on screen by Imran Abbas but his make-up artist has not done justice to his face. His beard also did not look neat when he was talking to Jia in the restaurant. In the first few episodes I really liked Saba Faisal as Ami Begum but now after watching all these episodes with Ami Begum getting so much screen time, I am convinced that her character could have been translated on screen in a much better manner if it was underplayed.

The preview of the next episode showed exactly what turn the story will take from here on. The viewers know what Waqar’s next move will be but it remains to be seen how Maheen will react to this new discovery. Will she get married to Gulrez? It seems highly unlikely. I am also wondering why at the beginning of this drama Neelam showed her hatred for Waqar by hitting him with a stone.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 18 Review – Slow-mo!

The pace of the drama has slowed down once again and the most annoying aspect of this drama so far is that there has been hardly any interaction between Waqar and Maheen. The team of MTSNH had two exceptional actors like Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas who share on screen chemistry that can win the viewers hearts quite easily but they completely missed the opportunity to exploit their potential and chemistry by not showing enough scenes with both of them together. The script revolves largely around their feelings for each other yet they have hardly ever spoken to each other since they met. Even without this interaction, their feelings for each other are easy to relate to at this point therefore I can’t help but wonder how amazing it would have been if they actually had enough scenes together to convince the viewers even more. The fact that Maheen is still unable to accept how she feels about Waqar helps but even then in this day and age when people are a phone call or message away the lack of communication between the two is definitely really odd!

The script of the drama is not perfect, it has loopholes which make you question why the writer ignored certain aspects of the story but at the same time the overall idea is novel and interesting. Jia’s track and its connection with Maheen, the way she wants to get back at Maheen for her father’s wrongdoings, makes the entire situation interesting but the story is littered with details which most often add nothing new or important to the story. There are also innumerable heavy-duty dialogues which do not always go well with the characters or the scenarios. Ami Begum’s lecture to Waqar was one such situation tonight, when she says she loves Waqar it is very difficult to believe! Also, the scene in which Ami Begum was hiding in the car could have been handled in a much better manner.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 18 Review - Slow-mo!

“Humse kahi ziada Khuda apni makhlooq se pyar krta hai lekin sub ko khush tu wo bhi nahi rukh sakta.” I strongly disagree with this particular dialogue and I am surprised that no one in the team requested the writer to change it or remove it altogether. Jia’s meeting with Siraj was stretched too, even he had a failed love story to narrate! Who tells their personal details to someone they just met? The turn this track has taken however is interesting, Jia intends to do a lot more than just create a misunderstanding between Maheen and Waqar. She is planning something which will be even more hurtful. I have a feeling that Siraj won’t keep this secret and that is how the misunderstanding might ultimately be cleared.

The background score of this drama has to be one of its most irritating features especially because even when the characters are joking with each other, the music in the background is sad! The actress playing Maheen’s mother is the weakest link in this drama as far as performance is concerned. She goes overboard especially in those scenes in which she has to tell someone off or set some limits.

This episode was extremely slow but even then I find myself looking forward to the next episode because I want to know what exactly will Jia do and most importantly how is Gulrez’s track going to end. If the story picks up pace even now, it will give this drama a decent ending but it seems highly unlikely.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 17 Review – Weak Direction

“Yehi tu burai hai tum logo mein, khushi mile tu chuti kr lete ho, ghum mile tu bhi chutti kr lete ho. yeh tu ghum k samnay ghutne tekne wali baat ho gaye na!!”

This had to be my favorite dialogue in tonight’s episode. I have to admit that after watching a few episodes of this drama which won me over completely, I had huge expectations from this one as well. Although the story moved forward considerably in this episode but the dialogue delivery by some of the actors and the scenes in general could have been a lot better if they weren’t so slow! The story has definitely taken off but the way this drama has been directed is flawed in more ways than one. ” lrkiya phansne k angrezi tareeqe” was the funniest dialogue in tonight’s episode.

Maheen decided to finally meet Gulrez so that she could talk to him about the decision she took. This conversation was completely in line with Maheen and Gulrez’s character. Maheen took the lead and Gulrez wasn’t left with a lot of choice. It was good to see these two finally face to face since they have hardly had any scenes together since the first episode. Maheen is still not confessing her love for Waqar but she is very sure that she does not want to get married to Gulrez. Just like always the actress playing Maheen’s mother’s role went completely overboard and ruined the scene in which she tells Maheen off! Ayeza Khan however performed brilliantly in tonight’s episode.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 17 Review - Weak Direction

Jia’s track took an interesting turn with this episode but I am still wondering where Jia’s father got this cassette from after all this time!! Also, the way Jia’s mother’s story was told was too slow and the dialogue delivery was quite average. The story however was another interesting twist in the story. It gave Jia an even bigger reason to do something to hurt Maheen. Her conversation with Waqar showed that she was going to take her “revenge” by doing whatever she could to ensure that Maheen and Waqar did not get married. Jia and Waqar have not talked to each other since he told her that he did not want to get married to her. Their relationship with each other sort of ended with that conversation they had and Waqar never really apologized to her the way Maheen did to Gulrez therefore I am definitely wondering how these two are still such good friends! Also, how could Waqar be talking about his love life with someone he was about to get married to? I think the writer should have covered this aspect of Waqar and Jia’s track before showing that Waqar was turning to Jia for advice.

Ami Begum continued to blame Waqar entirely and the rest of the family concluded that this was because she was missing him!! I have to say that this side of Ami Begum’s personality is very difficult to like. It sounds belittling whenever these grown ups use insulting words for the youngsters. After a long time I felt for Gulrez’s character especially when Maheen did not even give him the choice to decide whether he wanted to listen to her apology or not.

Overall, this episode was alright, I expected it to be better. The story however has taken an interesting turn and I am waiting to find out how it unfolds in the upcoming episodes. Do share your thoughts about this episode.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 16 Review – Interesting!!

This episode could have been so much more impactful if it was directed well. Maheen’s phone call to Waqar was the best part of this episode. Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas’ sizzling on screen chemistry and the fact that Imran Abbas is a pro at giving the perfect expressions in such situations, made this scene picture perfect. Some of the dialogues and scenarios in tonight’s episode were beautifully penned down but there were many times when the director completely failed to do justice to them. The ever-present background music which wasn’t even needed, the way Maheen lectured ami begum (given the background), Gulrez showed how upset he was with the way things turned out ( a little too dramatic) and even the manner in which ami begum reacted could have been a treat to watch if these scenes weren’t directed with more passion than was necessary! Even Jia’s scene had tons of potential but there were way too many expressions and not enough substance in the performance overall. This episode in particular needed completely different treatment because it was powerful enough as it was, the actors and the director did not need to go overboard to make people understand the emotional upheaval all these characters were going through.

Having said that, the fact is that there was a major loophole in the script as well in the first few episodes. The viewers were never told in the beginning that this was a bachpan ki mangni therefore it wasn’t easy for me to connect to the whole scenario. For the longest time Ami begum talked about Maheen’s state of mind after the proposal because she was in “shock” and felt like she was not in control of things since Gulrez and rest of the family made this decision for her. Also, the entire family had been waiting for Maheen’s answer to this proposal and this engagement was only finalized when she said yes. There was no pressure on her and she only went ahead with this engagement to hurt Waqar therefore although this was supposed to be a bachpan ki mangni but Maheen made the final decision. Maheen’s “speech” therefore was slightly out of context and impossible to relate to. I understand that she realized her feelings for Waqar right at the last minute but if the bachpan ki mangni scenario wasn’t part of the speech, it would have been very apt since Ami begum did try her best to make sure that Waqar and Maheen don’t fall in love with each other.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 16 Review - Interesting!!

Jia’s track has taken a turn which is completely in line with her character but it would have been so much better if this character was underplayed by Faryal Mahmood. I do however feel that the director asked these actors to be loud and over-dramatic therefore I feel the director is at fault here. It was really good to see Gulrez opening up for a change and expressing how he truly felt but the background score in this scene as well, was loud to an annoying degree. Ami Begum blamed Waqar yet again for something which wasn’t exactly his fault. Although right now it seems like Waqar has decided to stay but the first few episodes suggested that eventually he left for England and never returned.

When Fajr and Maheen talked about everything which happened at the night of the engagement, Ayeza Khan’s styling and make-up made it difficult to believe that this was early morning. It looked more like a few hours after the engagement but their conversation clearly suggested it was the next morning. Ayeza Khan is one of those actresses who are very comfortable in their own skin therefore I am guessing that making Maheen look so trim and proper under all circumstances was the director’s decision as well.

Overall, although most of tonight’s episode was poorly directed but the story has definitely taken a very interesting turn. The story is at a stage where you find yourself wondering what is going to happen next. I can’t help but root for Maheen and Waqar even though I know they are not meant to be together and that it will break Gulrez’s heart into a million pieces!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 16 Review - Interesting!!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 15 Review – Interesting Developments

After tonight’s brilliant episode, it would be safe to say that Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai has finally taken off! The character development and the turns in the story in the previous episode and this one have shifted the story to a completely new direction. Two weeks back if someone told me that I will be able to relate to the characters, feel for them at some point, and would actually be interested in the drama, I wouldn’t have believed them but surprisingly enough even though the direction of the drama still isn’t flawless but the story and the characters definitely have me totally hooked. A big reason for this is that the story is finally moving forward and for a change the focus is on the main leads. The viewers already know only too well what is at stake here therefore watching Maheen gradually coming into terms with her feelings, Waqar admitting how he feels about Maheen openly and Gulrez believing that Maheen is meant to be with him, has given rise to a no-win situation which keeps you at the edge of your seat! Jia’s track which seemed completely useless few weeks back is also turning out to be interesting. Jia was always shown as a friend who kept you guessing and not someone who gave negative vibes therefore I am wondering what she will do next.

A great deal changed in tonight’s episode and it was good to see all the characters showing their real feelings instead of keeping the viewers guessing. Maheen thought she was hurting Waqar by getting engaged to Gulrez but she has realized that she couldn’t have been more wrong – she isn’t only hurting Waqar but she is also losing him and she is not ready for that. Maheen has always been shown as someone who would want to be in control, someone who would like to have the last word and that was the only reason why Maheen initially made her decision but this time around she is finding it really hard to stick to her decision. Maheen choosing the blue dress even though Fajr informed her why her mother rejected it said a great deal about her frame of mind. Ayeza Khan’s performance was up to the mark in tonight’s episode; she translated all the emotions impeccably.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 15 Review - Interesting Developments

Waqar has always been one character which was easy to connect to (with the exception of those 2 episodes in which he got slapped & afterwards) and also someone we have all been rooting for therefore feeling for his character comes naturally and makes you wonder why he was treated so badly by everyone in the opening episode of the drama. No one plays the love struck but heartbroken hero like Imran Abbas. He is always convincing in such roles therefore I have to say that this episode belonged to him. Kinza Hashmi has also been doing complete justice to the role assigned to her. Fajr’s character has also been the most likeable character in the drama even when the drama as a whole had didn’t have a lot to offer.

Even though the ever-present background score could have proven to be a huge distraction in this episode but the scenes were so well written and the actors did their work so well that all the scenes had an impact. Also, Maheen wasn’t wearing the same outfit which she chose for the engagement. Despite of these minor glitches here and there, the episode as a whole was powerful; the dialogues, development in the story and the performances were right on point. The only confusion right now is that Waqar’s parents were also in the same car which had an accident therefore I am wondering howcome Jia’s mother was with them too.

Overall, the drama is definitely much more interesting now than it was two weeks back therefore anyone who completely gave up on this drama should tune into it now.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 14 Review – Finally A Good Episode!

I thought I would never say this but there were quite a few developments in this episode which were interesting as well as intriguing. After watching the same scenarios over and over again, it was definitely refreshing watching the story move forward like it should in every other episode (ideally speaking!). There were scenes which were needlessly stretched and the first 5 minutes or so of the drama covered the scenes which had already been shown in the previous episode so basically the episode that went on air live did not start from where it should have started from and I was wondering if they were showing the previous episode all over again! If this was supposed to be the precap then it was painfully long.

This episode however proved that if the story focused throughout on the main leads, their feelings and interactions with each other more than the side characters who are most often annoying then this drama could have been far more interesting. A simple love triangle with few complications here and there, some powerful dialogues, leading actors with good on screen chemistry and an unpredictable storyline is always better than a love triangle which is blown out of proportion for no reason when the leads hardly ever interact with one another! Maheen and Waqar’s feelings were much easier to relate to tonight. Gulrez’s character however does not have the same impact which it had in the first 2 episodes or so which is the main reason why Mehreen’s decision seems all wrong and I think that is the reason why Gulrez’s character is so unappealing. There is an undeniable chemistry between Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan which makes you root for them even when the story and direction is as weak as it is in this play.

The first scene of this episode (online version!!) translated those emotions which have been missing from the previous many episodes in an apt manner. Maheen’s attempts to prove herself, Gulrez’s lack of confidence, Waqar’s decision to lose the match to make Maheen happy and most importantly a more sensitive reaction from Ami begum at that time made this scene a winner. Later on too all those scenes in particular which covered Waqar and Maheen’s state of mind were right on point for a change although the background music at times was extremely inappropriate. Imran Abbas in particular acted brilliantly in this episode. I found myself wishing that the drama could go on like this for the next few weeks as well but then I was reminded of all the thappars and those reactions and situations in the past 8 weeks or so which made very little sense!

Jia’s track had a secret in store as well, although her father’s dialogues and the way they were delivered was not that impactful but it seems like Jia’s mother had an affair with Maheen’s deceased father. It remains to be seen how this recent revelation will effect the story. Maheen’s mother also mentioned her fate and remembered how things did not go as planned multiple times in tonight’s episode. Jia finally forgave her father and now that they will have a ‘normal’ relationship, I am wondering if he will accompany Jia to Maheen’s house at some point and figure out the connection between her and Aurangzeb.

The conversation between Fajr and Waqar after their team lost the match had to be the best conversation in this entire episode. The whole scenario now is quite interesting and there are no unnecessary complications but I doubt that the story will move forward with the same momentum given the history of this play!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 13 Review – Even More Mind Games!

Everyone who is watching this drama on regular basis must be very well acquainted with the fact that the characters in Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai love playing mind games which are impossible to relate to! Waqar’s confession in tonight’s episode was yet another attempt by one of the saner characters in this play to exploit the situation in his favor. At the end of the day when you look at the reason behind all these complicated mind games, you can’t help but wonder if it is really worth it! Ami begum was playing games with Waqar before because she wanted him to stay away from Maheen and now Waqar who clearly was interested in Maheen is claiming that he did all this so that Maheen would accept Gulrez’s proposal and he could be the “chief” of the gang! Watching Waqar act so normal in the opening scene after creating such a big scene at Ami begum’s house was mind boggling! Later on, Ami begum also decided to forgive and forget everything and for the first time the viewers saw Ami begum and Waqar bonding like they should have bonded right from the beginning.

Some of the dialogues in tonight’s episode were intense and right on point but just like every other episode situations and dialogues were way too complicated given the situation. Why would someone like Gulrez who does not want to force Maheen to get married to him, settle for such a decision? Also, the fact that Maheen and Gulrez did not have a single decent interaction one-to-one since the proposal makes the whole situation even more strange. Gulrez never had the courage to talk to Maheen but Maheen could have surely talked to him about what was going on in her mind. Also, even after making the decision to marry him even if it was to make a point only, she did not directly go to Gulrez to tell her about her decision. Maheen is still confused and watching 10 episodes of this confusion hasn’t actually been a joyride!

All of a sudden Jia has stopped interacting with Waqar altogether and she never confronted him either. Jia’s father is finally going to reveal the secret, which I am sure won’t be anything exciting either. It seems like he left her mother because she was cheating on her! This drama needed a more decent side track to make it bearable but Jia’s track definitely does not fit the bill.

Fajr has to be my favorite character in the show, she is the one who can see what games everyone is playing and speaks her mind without getting rude. Even after so many episodes the story hasn’t moved forward considerably, everyone has been waiting for Maheen’s reply for the longest time now and no one (watching the drama) is even rooting for the couple! The drama is over crowded with characters who like to talk a lot and most often the conversations revolve around similar topics. If the writer and the director added more scenes in which we saw a “human” side of these characters like the one in tonight’s episode in which Ami begum and Waqar bonded, would have helped the viewers connect to these characters. Also, Munshi Alam should have been given more screen time since the drama opened with him and it looked like he was very close to the family. The thappars got plenty of screen time in tonight’s episode as well! Plenty of characters talked about it like it was headline news but Waqar (who is supposedly the ultimate ladla) took them really well! Watching a new episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai is like watching the same thing over and over again!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 12 Review – Thappars Galore!

All of those viewers who have watched Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar’s dramas in the past would know that his characters often react to confrontational situations by hitting the person who offended them. Women most often are the ones who think a classic thappar is their ultimate weapon. I still remember the way Shano’s mother used to hit her and I also remember how those thappars were received – as if it was perfectly normal for her mother to react in such a manner. Tonight when Maheen hit Waqar and he stood there like a “mard ka bacha” as Gulrez put it but quite frankly I would say dheet ka bacha! I was reminded of those thappars but I had no idea that this would not be the only thappar we will be witnessing in this episode. The phrase dheet ka bacha is more apt not only because even after all that Maheen did to him, he was quick to run to Maheen’s house and ask for forgiveness but also because he is after all Ami begum’s grandson therefore he is just as dheet as ami begum herself! Jokes aside, Waqar is the only person I truly feel for in this drama. The way he is referred to as London Ka Londa, loffer, awara and what not makes it sound like London is not a city in a foreign country but the name of a different planet and Waqar Ahmed is an alien who was thrown on earth via spaceship therefore his only identity is the planet he belongs to! I also feel for Imran Abbas because his make-up artist has completely ruined his look. All you see on his face is a lot of highlighter and that too in places which did not need highlighting!

Tonight the topic of discussion was Maheen’s outburst and the fact that Waqar Ahmed did not move an inch while she was hitting him and accusing him of being too influenced by London – a reference which is fast becoming a joke. The viewers never really saw in detail just how abusive Ms. crazy two shoes was but like always we heard the exaggerated version from every character possible. Even Maheen’s mother who acted equally crazy when Waqar came with those flowers and the gift was alarmed by her daughter’s reaction. There are a lot of characters in this drama who need serious anger management classes!

Fajr is the only person who speaks our minds and that thappar was like a slap on the face of all those intelligent viewers who are just as agitated by the entire situation in this drama as Fajr was today! Nautanki was the perfect word for explaining everyone’s reactions to the recent developments! Indeed we feel the same way too! I am wondering how Mehrunissa found out about Gulrez’s khawab since it isn’t common knowledge! She gave Gulrez a long lecture on the difference between dreams and reality as if she knew exactly what he saw in his dream!

I have to say that watching Waqar tell Ami begum off like that was the highlight of this episode and music to my ears! The entire scenario however was hilarious! Dastoor Ahmed and Mehrunissa stood there and listened like they were completely helpless and it gave the impression as if just like all of us they also thought ami begum deserved just that! Even though this play has plenty of annoying characters, it has the most batameez heroine, the most wicked grandmother and the most useless son but the most annoying and useless character is that of Jia. I cannot stand to watch her scenes and I couldn’t be less interested in her story!

Maheen’s guilt pangs made absolutely no sense since anyone who even felt an ounce of sympathy for someone would never do what she did with Waqar. I have to say that I have never disliked Ayeza Khan more in any other character because no matter how simple or complicated her characters are she somehow manages to make them likeable but this character is impossible to like! Ami begum’s dialogues about how she held Waqar so dear to her when she was talking to Maheen’s mother made me dislike her character even more.

When I started watching tonight’s episode I thought “Aik Inch Nahi Hila” would be the perfect title, then as the story progressed I was sure there couldn’t be a better title than “Mard Ka Bacha” but after the thappars’ hat trick I just knew that the title should give these thappars the attention they rightfully deserved! 3 thappars and counting!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 11 Review – Aik Elan Aur Aik Khawab!

Ladies and gentlemen for the first time we are witnessing a drama in which playing mind games (continuously in every single scene) comes naturally to all the characters and somehow the viewers are expected to relate to these seriously twisted people who have zero problem solving skills. I honestly don’t remember the last time I saw a drama like this one on television in which people who talk like philosophers don’t even have brains that function well enough to solve simple problems! Making issue out of non issues is the pastime of every character in this play. It is overloaded with dialogues which remind you of those long tashreehs (explanations) you had to do in the Urdu papers in order to fill the required space even when the poem did not have enough substance, you just had to say a lot about it because the entire question was of 10 marks! That is exactly what the writer has done here, the characters and their stories are so simple and done-to-death yet his approach towards all these rather simple and even ridiculous scenarios is so serious that you wonder why he decided to put all his perspectives regarding love in this one serial!

When someone starts talking in this serial, you listen in the hope that they will say something that will blow you away (only because of the background score and those serious expressions!!) but then half way you completely lose track of the entire conversation because although there are a lot of difficult words and similes which are continuously being used in these dialogues but the fact is that the feelings of these characters can be expressed easily in a much simpler manner. The complications the writer has tried to present in this drama are completely forced. All these people, who are supposed to be intelligent and sensitive resort to weird and indirect clues in order to get their messages across which is extremely twisted. Conversations which can end in two sentences are dragged just to increase the duration of the scenes.

I am not sure when Waqar fell in love with Maheen because not very long ago he was going all out and supporting Gulrez but the way this entire track has been handled showed that none of the important developments in this play will be handled in an intelligent way. Ami Begum’s solution to all the problems is one of the most annoying aspects of this drama. She was actually contemplating giving Waqar his share and asking him to leave! Talk about taking extreme steps and yes that is exactly one of those things which showed the eldest person who everyone looks up to having zero problem solving skills!

I honestly felt for Shehzad sheikh and Imran Abbas both in tonight’s episode – yes I am talking about the actors and not the characters. Both of them have made their characters as likeable as was possible but the way these characters have been written makes it very difficult to connect to them. They don’t have definite traits and they just go with the flow! I don’t even feel like commenting on Ayeza Khan’s acting and outlook any more because she failed to keep the balance needed to make this character cute and not over the top or annoying. I don’t completely blame her for this because it is quite apparent that the director expected everyone to go overboard. Few of the actors  still managed to keep a balance however but Ayeza Khan is definitely not one of them. Also, the clothes she is wearing look completely out of place, they are cool but definitely not casual clothes which someone would wear on daily basis.

Maheen and Gulrez’s bachpan ki mangni was a shocker! No one ever mentioned that and if this was supposed to be the surprise twist then it was completely lame because Maheen was shocked and offended when she learned that Gulrez had proposed to her. Even Ami begum said so many times that she reacted like this because she wasn’t expecting it. If this was bachpan ki mangni then why was she shocked? Gulrez mentioned the khawab he never saw multiple times in tonight’s episode and the way Waqar’s “elan” shocked everyone was also completely lame; Wali later on told Neelam that they were all expecting just that! I am honestly shocked that this drama has turned out to be this lame!

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 10 Review – Overdose Of Dialogues!

This was another disappointing episode of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai full of dialogues explaining love from all angles even though most of these dialogues did not even go along with the personalities of many of the characters, which made these scenes extremely tedious to sit through. Watching these college going boys and girls talking about love like they were brought up by Rumi and Ghalib when actually their parents have the IQ of a teenager was terribly difficult to relate to and at the same time extremely annoying! Ami Begum has way too many opinions and the tactics she is using to make sure that Waqar gets married to Jia have completely ruined the initial impression her character had on the viewers. She is the biggest baby (more like a spoiled brat) in the family who everyone follows blindly and quotes like she is Socrates! Yes, I am mentioning the names of these philosophers, thinkers and poets because so many of the dialogues today were an overdose of philosophy even though the writer could easily have kept everything nice and simple instead of penning down every little thought that came to his mind down and then forcing it somewhere in the script in order to have enough content to fill in the space to cover these episodes!

Watching Gulrez utter all those heavy duty dialogues about love made me want to hit my head against the wall! Gulrez has always been shown as a sensitive yet not very mature guy yet tonight he sounded like John Keats’ rishtedar with all those rate rateye dialogues which did not suit him at all! The way the family listened to him lecture them on love was even more annoying! I am surprised these people who are like audience in a stage play do not take notes while these other characters utter these dialogues which sound more fake than anything else. While watching this particular scene I was wondering why I did not feel an ounce of sympathy for Gulrez and then I realized it was because we hardly know anything about his character. The writer has focused so much on exploring love from all angles that he forgot to explore the main characters which is why most of the viewers are having a very tough time connecting to these characters. Although, I have been watching this drama with complete dedication for all these weeks but even now there are times when I have a tough time remembering the names of some of the main character! It is because although I know which actors are playing these roles but the characters themselves have nothing tangible to offer. It has been a long time since I watched a drama with such shallow characters who say things which are do deep yet have no meaning since they do not go well with the scenarios at all!

Neelam’s “definition” of Maheen was another revelation which came out of nowhere! The only person I feel for at times, so far is Waqar and that too because of Ami begum’s meanness towards him. I understand that Ami begum is afraid that if he falls for Maheen, the situation will be very awkward and Gulrez will be heart broken but I don’t understand her method at all. She is like a mean old woman who is constantly plotting against her own grandson. The actress playing Maheen’s mother’s role is terribly annoying, she does not know the first thing about keeping things subtle, she gives way too many expressions and always goes overboard. Even Maheen’s reaction when she saw what her mother did with Waqar’s gift was so artificial. Waqar’s character is confusing as well, even though he is treated as if he is not a part of the family but an outsider yet he is always so cool about it like he is used to getting abused by his family! Wasn’t this boy supposed to be everyone’s ladla? Torturing him is a game for all the grown ups in the family which is why they seriously need to grow up! Let’s alienate Waqar and break his spirits is a game which Ami begum & co play with such enthusiasm that you wonder if they need therapy!

Imran Abbas, Kinza Hashmi and Haroon Kadwani are the only three actors in the play who are not overacting. Imran Abbas’ make-up however is an absolute fail! He looked great in Tum Kon Piya but in this drama he does not look good! The person responsible for his make-up ruined his look completely.

Overall, this episode was one of the worst episodes of Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai So Far. I have no idea for how long I will be able to sit through this play because it is getting worse with every passing episode.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review – Impressive Beginning

Writer: Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar
Director: Farooq Rind
Produced by: 7th Sky Entertainment
Channel & Schedule: Geo Entertainment – Every Saturday at 8pm

This had to be the most unusual first episode which piqued my curiosity because of the overall feel of the play and the manner in which the story was introduced. I didn’t feel like I was watching a drama on television but the pace of the play and dialogues were such that it felt like I was reading a novel; when you take the time to absorb every single word and occurrence. It was the kind of first episode which leaves you with a lot of questions and like any other script written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar it had quite a few concise yet meaningful one-liners which were truly impactful. “Meri adhi jaidad aur puri nafrat ka malik hai vo” was one such one-liner! “Jis ko maal mil gaya, kisi ki mohabbat na mili, us ko mila hi kya” was another one which I absolutely loved.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review - Impressive Beginning

Generally the first episode of any drama introduces the viewers to the central characters and establishes their relationship with each other. This first episode however focused more on the feelings of all the characters for Waqar Ahmed (Imran Abbas) more than anything else. I am certain I am not the only one who is wondering why everyone hates Waqar so much. There were hints in tonight’s episode which suggested that he had betrayed someone (most probably Maheen – Ayeza Khan) he loved dearly because of which not only did Maheen suffer but everyone around her suffered in some way. Waqar thinks he had a valid reason for hurting everyone like that but the fact that Ami Begum (Saba Faisal) and everyone associated with him feels extreme hatred towards him suggests that he is the only one who thinks he is innocent.

This first episode opened with Waqar Ahmed landing in Pakistan after eight years of staying abroad while Ami Begum talked about her will because she did not expect to live for long. The story started in 2017 which means that the viewers will see the background story in flashback scenes. The drama has a lot of characters but not all of them were properly introduced in this episode. Ami Begum’s love for Maheen was just as intense as her hatred for Waqar. It did however seem like while Ami Begum could never forgive Waqar but she could not forget him either. Ami Begum’s hatred for English language and Munshi’s dialogues about Waqar spending his youth in England went to show that when Waqar left for England Ami Begum did not expect him to stay there for so long.

Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai Episode 1 Review - Impressive Beginning

Waqar and Munshi’s conversations were the highlight of this episode. Imran Abbas and the actor playing Munshi’s role owned their respective characters and apart from the ever-present and rather loud background score everything else about these scenes was picture perfect. The enthralling performances, the impressive makeovers and situations which definitely give you a reason to tune into this drama next week made this episode a complete winner. Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas have an amazing on screen chemistry which even made a drama like Tum Kon Piya a treat to watch therefore I can’t wait to find out more about Maheen and Waqar’s past and their story. Saba Faisal is turning out to be one of the best on-screen mothers who is constantly experimenting with different roles. The rest of the cast is also impressive, Sabreen Hisbani and Saman Ansari are personal favorites who always give every role assigned to them their best.

Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai promises to be a story of love, betrayal, perhaps misunderstandings and bitterness. What makes someone who loves you with all their heart, hate you so much? Can’t wait to find out. This first episode suggested that emotions will reign supreme in this drama. The OST of the drama is beautiful and completely in line with the overall feel of the play. I was expecting something more commercial but it was definitely great watching a somewhat unorthodox start to this play.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai Episode 6 – The Proposal

0

This had to be the best episode of Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai so far. The focus on Nabeel, like always was slightly irritating at times but I guess we should all accept by now that everyone in the play will stay obsessed with Nabeel in every single episode! Nabeel is head over heels in love with Romaisa’s simplicity and no past track record of course! Our Romeo has made up his mind and nothing that anyone says or does can stop him from marrying Romaissa. Nabeel’s conversation with Zeeshan was definitely worth looking forward to. I was dying to find out if Nabeel will actually have a valid reason for falling for a girl like Romaissa or would the rationale behind his decision stay a mystery as was the case in Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Zeeshan is the only person in Nabeel’s family who does not think he owns Nabeel and he is also the only person who is close enough to tell Nabeel how his decision says a lot about the kind of person he is. Nabeel’s reasons for wanting to marry Romaissa may qualify him as a munafiq but his feelings are very honest. Even with all his shortcomings, I couldn’t help but like Nabeel in this particular episode. I really enjoyed it when Nabeel said to Zeeshan, “jitni understanding tumhari aur Rabiyaa ki hai utni tu ho hi jaye gi”. Zeeshan rightly pointed out that Nabeel’s family will give Romaissa a very tough time because of the circumstances under which he was getting married.

m3
The ring Nabeel gave Romaissa went from her finger into the jar in which she keeps all her “treasure”. The fact that she wore that ring for a little while showed that Romaissa would happily welcome someone who is willing to love her for who she is. All of Alia’s scenes were hilarious as usual. The conversations with Nabeel, the misunderstanding and the manner in which she yelled at Romaissa was very amusing. Romaissa’s character is getting more interesting now that we see her wanting something. She is also reminded of the way her father used to treasure her; it went to show that the love her father showered her with once still is a very important part of who she is today. She is convinced once more now that she too deserves to be loved.

m7
Khala’s expressions when Nabeel’s parents come with the proposal were priceless. Well, it won’t be long before Nabeel convinces her to change her mind. The preview of the next episode was a little too revealing, it would have been nice if the viewers were left wondering how the story will unfold now.

m1
Thankfully this time around we were not shown the reaction of every member of Nabeel’s family but even then the reactions of both the bhabis which were shown back-to-back could have been shorter and to the point. In my opinion, showing Rabbiya’s reaction to the news once was sufficient, the second time around it sounded very repetitive. Am I the only one who felt like Adeel Hussein and Mira Sethi seemed to be trying very hard not to laugh in the restaurant scene?

m6
Tonight’s episode had quite a few scenes that were enjoyable and well executed. Romaissa’s character is getting interesting and so is the story. Some of the dialogues were very witty and the interactions between different characters enjoyable. Sanam Jung looked very pretty in white, I watched this episode with a smile on my face….I am definitely looking forward to the next installment.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – The Finale!

Mohabbat subh ka sitara hai jo zindagi ke asman ka sub se roshan aur jagmagata sitara hai. Jo zindagi ko tareekiyu mein se bhi nikaal lata hai, usay simt deta hai, rasta dikhata hai aur us sitare ko paa lene ke baad, zindagi mei rehnumaye ke liye asman ke kisi chotay baray sitaray ki zarurat baaki nahi rehti.

These lines beautifully summed up the power of love! This last episode belonged to Adeel Hussein right from the get-go; he is absolutely brilliant at playing the knight in the shining amour. The way Zeeshan got closer to Romaissa and Maham had to be one of the most convincing parts of this entire drama serial. Similarly, the manner in which Romaissa finally got ready to give Zeeshan that place in her heart which was occupied by Nabeel’s memories for so many years, was very well done. Zeeshan gradually saw the true colors of his family and had ample time to make his decision. Romaissa learned to trust Zeeshan when she saw that there was a special place for Maham in his heart in particular. Zeeshan’s first conversation with his mother in the beginning of the episode was music to my ears. Like Zeeshan said Maham made him love her, Romaissa needs to learn a few important lessons from her little princess. Romaissa didn’t learn to value herself, not that I was expecting her to go through a miraculous change but she got her happy ending.

Zeeshan’s “mummy” thought she had a surprise for him but he was the one with the real surprise! “Baaz logon ke nazdeek rishton se bhar kr kuch nahi hota aur baaz ke nazdeek cheezon se bhar kur kuch nahi hota aur ap second category mei atay hei”. Zeeshan “forgave” his parents just like I expected him to but he wasn’t going to let them have all of Nabeel’s wealth. The scene between Romaissa and Zeeshan in which he tells her about the kind of woman he wants her to be and everything else was very poignant.

msksh1

I really wanted to see Romaissa happy in tonight’s episode but all we got was a smile in the end. I think the expressions of contentment and liberation would have been much more appropriate in the scene in which Romaissa talks about her journey of finding “Subh ka sitara”. Similarly when it was raining and Romaissa thought that for once everything was picture perfect, she had the same painful expressions on her face.

msksh2

Nabeel’s family was forgiven in the end just like expected, I really wanted to see them suffer just like many other people out there but I knew that Zeeshan and Romaissa are not the sort of people who will punish anyone let alone their own family. Sanam Jung and Adeel Hussein looked great together right from the first time they shared the screen but it was Adeel Hussein who stole the show today. So a big thank you to him for making this episode worthwhile. The child star playing Maham deserves a special mention here for lighting up the screen every time she appeared on it. I appreciate the final message that was conveyed in the drama by Zeeshan but overall the drama did not rise above average. I expected much better from Umera Ahmed in particular. I hope that next time Umera Ahmed will give us something truly memorable to watch.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 9

0

Honestly speaking, I am tired of fishing out the good bits from mediocre episodes with repetitive scenes. The only thing that was reinforced in this episode was that Nabeel had a good reason for falling for someone like Romaissa. Romaissa may not be very smart but she is genuine, in need of love, someone who would value love and also someone who Nabeel can trust with his eyes closed. No amount of money can make up for the sort of attitude Nabeel’s family has been giving him. The fact that Nabeel is going to transfer the house that they live in to Romaissa’s name too was a little hard to digest.

msksh3

Alia’s conversations with her fiancé are getting highly repetitive. They have absolutely nothing better to talk about other than the usual easy load issues or more like non issues! Or it is always about Alia comparing her fiancé with Nabeel.

msksh5

Hassan was given a lot more screen time than he deserved. He is definitely not one of the most important characters in the play but is one of the many side characters which most of the people are tired of watching already. Okay, so he is not just someone who lives on his brother in law’s money but he also has a very colorful personality. I have no idea why tonight’s episode opened with Hassan flirting with a girl and most of the happenings later on were in some way or the other connected to it. We already know only too well that Hamnah is very gullible so if this whole fiasco went to show how easy it was for Hassan to fool Hamnah then it was quite unnecessary.

msksh1

Romaissa is really being unbelievably nice now. When she was living with Khala, it was easier to understand why she had to please everyone but now that she has a good reason not to look back, she still keeps in touch with her Khala’s family forgetting the fact that her Khala literally sold her to Nabeel! Why would she want to go back to stay at her Khala’s place? She never got along with anyone there and she keeps on insisting herself that her life before she met Nabeel was anything but perfect.

msksh4

Only nine episodes of the serial have gone on air till now but I am losing interest in the story already. The story really needs to pick up pace so that things start moving ahead. All the characters and their relationships with each other have been well established, I am really interested in finding out how they will take the story forward now. There isn’t a single person in Nabeel’s family whose scenes are worth looking forward to. Romaissa’s family, just like Nabeel’s, has nothing new to add to the story. We know that both these families are dysfunctional and that is the reason why Romaissa and Nabeel value love and loyalty so much but is that it?

I am losing interest in the play with every passing episode. There are times when the lead actors’ acting is so unimpressive that I feel frustrated because I know that they are capable of doing much better. Unfortunately the developments in tonight’s episode and also the preview of the next episode gave me absolutely nothing to look forward to.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 8

0

This latest episode was filled with love, romance and even more romance. Nabeel’s feelings for Romaissa are honest; his love for her is unconditional. The thing that I like the most about Nabeel’s character is that he knows exactly what he wants from life. Romaissa still finds it hard to believe that someone like her who has been deprived of love most of her life is being showered with so much affection all of a sudden. Nabeel and Romaissa came across as soul mates in tonight’s episode. Nabeel’s interest in everything that his wife had to share with him and his endeavors to make all of Romaissa’s dreams come true were very sweet.
Romaissa showed Nabeel every little treasure which she had gathered in her life and Nabeel made it a point to prove to her that dreams really do come true. He took her to the place she had always dreamed about, showed her that she didn’t have to be a duck to float on the lake! and now he wants her to own the house she had always wanted. Romaissa on the other hand wants nothing more from life now.

m2
I am glad we were not shown the reaction of Nabeel’s family members when Romaissa went to the house after the rukhsati and I am also very happy that we were spared the cheesy first night scene, they usually seem very run-of-the-mill. The conversation between Nabeel and Romaissa about the morning star was an excellent way to show the beginning of their marital life. Now we know why Romaissa’s father felt the way he did about Subha ka sitara.

m4
Romaissa has transformed after marriage mainly because Nabeel has given her the faith she needed to open up. Nabeel is like a good friend to her with whom she can share anything. Alia’s reaction to Romaissa taking her treasure trunk to her new house was hilarious. Her conversation with Romaissa before she gets married however was not amusing at all.

m3
The theme of the play till now is nothing out of the ordinary; a very pretty girl belonging to a lower middle household finds herself living a life she never dreamed of after she finds her prince charming. Of course Romaissa didn’t go out looking for someone to rescue her, so that makes her character likeable but I do see a lot of similarities between Kashaf and Zaroon and Romaissa and Nabeel with the exception of course that Romaissa is much different from Kashaf. Kashaf never wanted a prince charming to rescue her but he did and she lived happily ever after. That was the end of Kashaf’s story but this is the beginning of Romaissa’s story. I am in no way saying that the two plays are the same in any way but even in Kankar and Daam the circumstances were the same.

m6
The best thing about tonight’s episode was that we finally got to know a lot more about our heroine than we did till now. Romaissa, like any other human being wants to be loved and she also wants to leave her fears and insecurities behind. The sunglasses that Sanam Jung and Mikaal Zulfiqar wore distracted me a lot. I needed to see the expressions in their eyes when they talked to each other.

m7
Overall, this episode had some good bits and some which could easily be skipped. Nabeel’s family’s complaints as usual were not the highlight of the episode. Most of Nabeel and Romaissa’s scenes however were really sweet. I must confess though that am finding it hard to fall in love with the play because none of the characters are standing out the way you would expect them to considering that the play has been written by Umera Ahmed. The direction of the play has not really been impressive till now. Mikaal did very well in the last episode but in this episode there were times when he was good and there were scenes in which he could have done better, same is true for Sanam Jung. Sanam’s cuteness definitely overshadows everything else about her character. I hope that things get more interesting in the future.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 7

0

Nabeel truly is turning out to be a knight in the shining armor who knows exactly how to get the love of his life. He also does not give a second thought to what his family thinks about his decision. Tonight for the first time Nabeel’s family members showed their displeasure openly. I found it very amusing when Nabeel decided to “buy” Khala’s approval because he knew that his parents were not going to push the matter further. He did not try to convince Hamnah or Rabiya either to go shopping with Romaissa, instead he decided to do the honors himself! Nabeel’s character is turning out to be quite interesting, I like his go-getter attitude. Mikaal Zulfiqar was terrific tonight, not just in the comic scenes but also in the serious ones. The way Nabeel kept on looking at Romaissa during the engagement ceremony was simply adorable. Sanam Jung and Mikaal Zulfiqar look great together; they definitely compliment each other.

m5
The opening scene was marvelous, I thoroughly enjoyed the way Nabeel won Khala over. Nabeel seems to have a thing for homemade desi food, last time around it was Romaissa’s karele ka salan and this time it was Khala’s left over paratha! Watching Khala and her daughters drool over the thought of all that Nabeel had to offer was fun in the beginning but later on when they were fighting over things which Nabeel’s parents brought for Romaissa it appeared to be repetitive. The way Aalia lashed out at Nabeel was totally uncalled for, on one hand she expects Nabeel to help Bilal financially and on the other she was shouting at him because he did not choose her!

m7
All the women in Nabeel’s life (except Romaissa of course) are very disappointed with Nabeel’s decision. Romaissa has someone in her life now who values her for a change. All her life she has been made to believe that she is nothing more than a bad omen for people around her. Things have completely turned around for Romaissa now but she finds it hard to believe that all this is really happening. I am really looking forward to the time when Romaissa will learn to be happy. I was hoping that we would see some sign of happiness on Romaissa’s face tonight but she was too worried about Sajjid to think about anything else!

m3
The phone conversation between Romaissa and Nabeel had to be the best part of this episode. Romaissa finally shared how she felt about the way Nabeel bought her khala’s approval and Nabeel confessed she was priceless. This particular scene was beautifully directed and acted out. It left me wanting to see more of these two but unfortunately that was not the case.

m2

Overall, this latest episode was enjoyable but it could have been far better if we got to see more of Romaissa and Nabeel rather than Khala and family. I thoroughly enjoyed most of Khala’s family’s scenes but there were a few that could easily have been replaced with a conversation or two between Nabeel and Romaissa. I am really looking forward to seeing how Nabeel manages to protect Romaissa from his thankless and selfish family members. We will finally see Romaissa smiling in the next episode!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 5

So, Nabeel is all set to marry the “girl of his dreams”, I know that most of the viewers here find Romaissa’s character annoying. Yes she is Allah mian ki gayee to the core but I actually enjoyed Romaissa and Nabeel’s scenes. I found the jokes and Romaissa’s excuses to decline the lunch/iftar invitations funny. Mikaal is far better in comic scenes than he is in serious ones. In the more serious scenes, like the one in which he tells his parents about Romaissa, he sounds exactly the way he does in commercials. That tone of voice works for short commercials but sounds very artificial in dramas.

m3
Nabeel’s outings with Nayab were probably shown to reinforce the flirtatious aspect of his personality but even then I found those scenes too long and mostly uninteresting. These scenes could have confused the viewers for a short while about Nabeel’s state of mind regarding who he is really interested in but given the fact that most people already know what is going to happen, trying to create such confusion couldn’t possibly hold the attention of most of the viewers. Aalia’s interest in Nabeel does not come as a surprise at all. Aalia’s obsession with easy load and phones is being given more attention than it should have been given and her conversation with Nabeel on the phone was a little too long. But that does not change my opinion about Mansha Pasha’s acting; I think she has breathed life into a character which is very different from what she has done till now. One of the reasons why her character stands out more than that of Romaissa’s is also because of her powerful portrayal.

m5
I must admit that if I sit down to think with a rational mind then there isn’t anything about Nabeel and Romaissa’s character or even portrayal that is appealing but their interactions with each other are light moments that are fun to watch. There is no depth whatsoever in the story till now but then that is how most of Umera Ahmed’s serials start. I remember thinking the same way about Mirat-ul-Uroos and Kankar. But unlike most of Umera Ahmed plays none of the leading characters is standing out till now.

m2

I couldn’t help but feel that there was something missing in the scene in which Nabeel tells his parents about Romaissa. His parents’ reaction was not surprising but the acting by all the actors in that particular scene was so unimpressive that it just looked like a lot of talking and no emotions whatsoever. I hope there is a good reason why the viewers are being shown how each member of Nabeel’s family feels about everything in that house because I find the scenes in Nabeel’s house in particular very monotonous and boring. There was enough of Nabeel in tonight’s episode therefore the scenes in which almost every character was talking about Nabeel seemed forced. In other words because of these scenes there was an overdose of introduction to Nabeel yet again.

In my opinion, this drama could have been far better if whatever happened in these five episodes was covered in three and if our main leads could act better. I am a huge fan of Sanam Jung and Mikaal Zulfiqar too but they have failed to impress me with their acting in this play. Sanam Jung could have added more life to her character and Mikaal’s dialogue delivery in the serious scenes has not really been remarkable. In my opinion, there should have been more of Zeeshan in these episodes than rest of Nabeel’s family. Firstly because Zeeshan is the only person Nabeel has a normal relationship with and secondly because it is always a pleasure to watch Adeel Hussein on screen. The relationship between Nabeel’s parents looks a little too similar to that of the relationship of many of the other couples in Umera Ahmed’s plays; the disagreements definitely give you the “been there done that” feeling. Overall, this was an okay episode which gives you something to look forward to.

I am waiting to see Zeeshan’s reaction in the next episode because he didn’t look very impressed with Nabeel’s choice!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 4

0

This latest episode focused on the main leads more than the previous three episodes. Romaissa’s pre-conceived notions regarding Nabeel and the interaction between the two was interesting. Also, we got to see just how close Nabeel and Zeeshan are. Zeeshan is the only person Nabeel can confide in. It was good to see Nabeel interacting with a normal family member who did not have any ulterior motives for having a conversation with him! Nabeel’s comment “tumhei kuch dikhana hai” was very amusing. The scenes in Nabeel’s house with the rest of his family members had nothing new to offer. Hamnah’s husband has a new plan to make easy money every second day, Walid is irresponsible and Rabiya couldn’t care less about Nabeel’s character as long his bank balance is impressive enough.

m1
Hamnah’s conversation with her mother about Rabiya and everything else was too long. In my opinion everything in Nabeel’s house could have been covered in a better way by keeping it short.

Romaissa’s attitude towards Nabeel would have come across as strange had the secretary not been giving her all “information” that she has been giving her mainly because of her insecurities. I enjoyed Romaissa’s predicament; she is dying to leave the job but her khala and family won’t let her to do so. I could identify with her restlessness and concerns.

m5

Romaissa’s character is cute but it lacks depth. It would have been easier for the viewers to relate to her character if we heard her thinking about her feelings more often or if we were shown the flashback scenes with her father. There should have been something substantial to show the viewers that Romaissa’s feels more than just fear. Because even people who are simple or naive have feelings!

m2
Four episodes of the play have gone on air till now and if I sit down to tally, there are many scenes that already seem repetitive. The viewers are fully acquainted with the characters till now, therefore the scenes that reinforce those characteristics of the characters that are already well established can easily be chopped down.

I found it funny when Nabeel “gifted” Romaissa a blackberry because anyone with a little common sense would know that it would take a girl like Romaissa a very long time to learn how to use such a phone! Aalia actually did her a favor by exchanging phones! Farah Shah seemed louder than usual tonight and I am definitely waiting for khala to be out of the picture now.

m4
There were scenes in tonight’s episode which were enjoyable and also those which one could easily miss without missing anything! There is nothing outstanding about the play till now except some artists who are well-loved and a few good scenes mainly because of the candid conversations. This episode was better than the last one because the story moved forward tonight. I am definitely not sold just yet and am wondering if and when the story will get interesting enough to keep me hooked and looking forward to more.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 3

0

The “gari issue” was blown out of proportion in this episode. More than 15 minutes of tonight’s episode were dedicated to showing everyone’s reaction to Nabeel’s decision to give the car to Zeeshan. I think the fact that everyone in Nabeel’s family has an eye on Nabeel’s wealth (aka car) was well established in the last episode. I hope that this chapter will be closed and we won’t be hearing more about it in the next episode. When Romaissa told Nabeel that she came to office on the bus I was wondering if he would like to gift her a car as well;) and that is just when he said that the office car will drop her!

s2

Nabeel and Romaissa are world apart but there is one thing common between the two; both of them are surrounded by people who put their own interests before their relationship with them. Nabeel’s relationship with Zeeshan hasn’t been highlighted yet. The conversation between Rabiya and Zeeshan in the last episode suggested that they are very close. It would have been much better if we could have seen a little more interaction between these two rather than wasting time on showing how everyone in the house felt about Nabeel gifting the car to Zeeshan. It was actually good to see a big family in a drama for a change because usually we see no more than two siblings in our plays but the fact that most of these siblings are not a joy to watch does not help. Nabeel’s “address” to his siblings on the diner table was void of feelings. It was almost as if a CEO was lecturing his employees and didn’t look anything like a brother having a heart-to-heart conversation with his family. I wish there was one normal person in the family who was not in awe of Nabeel’s wealth.

s1

Just like the previous episode the focus on Nabeel seemed forced most of the times. Nabeel isn’t just a valuable earning hand for his family but he is also the most eligible bachelor inthe family and is also very dil phaink….I am not sure I have a reason to like his character just yet!

s4

The scene in which one of Khala’s daughters complains about her ring and the conversation that ensued was too long and mostly irrelevant. I understand that the reason behind showing that particular scene was to once again tell the viewers how unwilling Khala was to marry Romaissa but it could have been more to the point.

s5

The last episode was good fun but this episode did not work for me at all. The only scene which held my interest was the flashback scene in which Romaissa’s father tells her about how people can be stars as well. I have been unable to relate to or fall in love with any of the characters till now. All of the characters are all over the place but they fail to leave an impact. The director is not leaving much to people’s imagination and seems to be bent on showing every little detail. I don’t mind that at all as long as the scenes are short enough to hold your interest but that was not the case with most of the scenes in tonight’s episode.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 22

The time that Zeeshan spent in his house while he was recovering from his injury has been a learning experience for him. Nabeel fell in love with Romaissa primarily because of her genuine nature; her relationships meant more to her than anything that money could buy. It is almost as if Zeeshan never knew just how insensitive and selfish his family members were before, maybe because he spent a lot of time away from home. Nabeel knew his family members only too well because he had to deal with them a lot. He made sure that Romaissa was financially secure because he had no expectations from his parents even.

m1

Maham is adorable, I am surprised that Zeeshan took so much time to warm up to her. I was hoping that this episode would be much more fast paced than the last few because the drama is going to end in another 2 episodes or so but some of the scenes were stretched without end. The scene in which Romaissa is cleaning the room was painful to watch! On one hand there is Romaissa who is dutiful and always there for Zeeshan and on the other hand his family members don’t have any time for him. While his parents have forgotten all about him while he is still alive, Romaissa has kept Nabeel’s memories alive even so many years after his death.

Hamnah was expecting a few months back (in the last episode) but there was no mention of the baby in this episode. There are no signs of Nabeel’s family paying for their wrongdoings, I am not sure that we will get the satisfaction of watching them suffer the way they made their son’s widow and daughter suffer. Zeeshan’s mother’s obsession with getting her son married is beyond me.

m2

Zeeshan’s feelings towards Maham and Romaissa completely changed in this episode. For me Zeeshan and Maham’s scenes together were the highlight of the episode. The episode could have been much more fast paced but I guess we all know by now that the director believes in showing every little detail. It is time to wrap things up now.

I was hoping that the last few episodes will give us something to remember but that seems unlikely now. I am tired of watching Romaissa crying and working, we all know how the play is going to end so why not just end it without making the viewers suffer even more!
