Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 2

0

This episode belonged to Mansha Pasha; she owns the character she is playing completely. I actually wanted to fast forward the rest of the scenes just to watch her outshine every other character and actor in the play. Honestly speaking, I never thought she would impress me with her acting the way she has; her performance comes as a very pleasant surprise and her scenes are a breath of fresh air. You can’t help but laugh at all that Aalia has to say. I must add that the dialogues are very witty too but maybe they wouldn’t have been given so much meaning if someone else was performing this character. Kudos to Mansha Pasha for embodying this role perfectly and putting in her best in it.

Now coming to our heroine Romaissa; Sanam Jung has the most innocent face and eyes that can make your heart melt. Romaissa is the dream girl of every young man because she is pretty and of course very docile. But Romaissa is not the kind of girl who will agree to everything that her khala asks her to do and neither does she underestimate her abilities. She refuses to work in a factory because she knows that she is capable of much more. Even though Aalia keeps on telling her that she has “ustani” written all over her face!

msksh2

The viewers were introduced to Nabeel’s family today. Nabeel is the generous, hardworking son who is the apple of his parents’ eye. Mikaal played a similar character in Mirat-ul-Uroos as well. The introduction to Nabeel’s character could have been slightly better. There were times when I thought that every conversation was forcefully being directed towards Nabeel but I guess that could not be helped. Zeeshan’s (Adeel Hussain) wife wants Nabeel to marry one of her friends probably because of the same reason that everyone else wants to be in Nabeel’s good books! The whole car issue was blown out of proportion and yes that reminded me of Mirat-ul-Uroos too! Nabeel seemed to be the only “useful” person in the family.

msksh5

Farah Shah was not as loud as she was in the last episode but very convincing as the loud, annoying and greedy khala. The khala does have a soft corner for Romaissa and also trusts her with her eyes closed. That is something that was evident from the fact that she did not doubt Romaissa’s intentions for a second when Sajjid asked to marry her.

msksh6

I have to say that I found the loud household of Khala G very entertaining; or maybe it is more like enjoy it while you can because once Aalia is out of the picture, the story will get very serious. Sanam Jung plays the naive girl effortlessly but it is Mansha Pasha who adds colors to this play. Now only if she could stay in the picture till the end.

msksh8

The scenes in which Romaissa thinks of all the things her father told her about coupled with her attempts to watch the morning star have been very well directed and beautifully shot. I really enjoyed tonight’s episode mainly because of Mansha Pasha. But the fact that I have been unable to feel anything for Romaissa’s character other than thinking that she is very cute means that there is something wrong with the play. A supporting actor/character should support the main lead and not overshadow them because if they do so then the audience takes time to connect with the main lead.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 19

0

The OST of the play has really grown on me, I listened to it many times today and the line “aye muqadar koi hisab tu rhuk , kon jeeta hai, kon hara hai” is totally in line with the storyline. So, I was emotionally charged when I started watching tonight’s episode; all set to feel for the characters and to understand Romaissa’s situation but I completely lost interest fifteen minutes into the play. Every episode seems to be the same; Romaissa thinking about how life has changed, some flashback scenes and Nabeel’s family’s conniving ways. The only new thing about this episode was that Zeeshan has completely changed. He may have gone ahead with the nikkah but he is running away from the situation. There isn’t much that he can do to change the situation but he is venting out his anger and frustration by alienating Romaissa and his brother’s daughter completely. Zeeshan is not expected to take his relationship with Romaissa seriously so there is no family pressure either. On the contrary his parents would really like it if he continues treating Romaissa and Maham this way. Zeeshan was the only person in Nabeel’s family….well he was the only person in Romaissa’s life who felt for her and supported her in any way at all and now he has turned into a different person too. I think Zeeshan’s father knew that Romaissa will lose his support if this nikkah took place.

mskshepisode19

Romaissa has been living like a servant in the house for all these years only because she has nowhere else to go. It is ironic that she is the one who has a financial edge over everyone else legally but in reality her situation is the worst. I was actually shocked to see how much Maham has grown, did that mean that Zeeshan hadn’t visited the house for a year or so? He still hasn’t gotten over Rabbiya but Rabbiya has clearly moved on. Nothing has changed between Hamnah and Hassan and Bushra continued talking about Hassan and Romaissa’s affair as if all of that happened only yesterday.

There were times when I felt for Romaissa’s character but there were many other times when I thought her situation could have been shown in a much better way so that more viewers could feel for her character. None of the dialogues touched me the way they should have considering everything that Romaissa has been through till now. I fully understand Romaissa’s situation but the dialogues and the scenes are not intense enough. The director could have been a lot more creative and I know for a fact that Umera Ahmed is capable of writing very powerful dialogues. The actors are giving their best performances but their characters don’t have much to offer. The little child star playing Maham is adorable!

mskshep191

19 episode have gone on air so far and unfortunately except for a few episodes, rest have been very average. We see the story unfolding on screen every week but the play has completely failed to leave a lasting impression. The preview of the next episode showed that Romaissa will finally react to the unjust treatment being meted out to her and her daughter – I hope she changes for good. It remains to be seen if Zeeshan will accept her as his wife and protect her and Maham the way he should have right from day one. There was a time when I really thought that Hum TV’s tagline “Hum jaisa koi nahi” was so true but that is not the case any more!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 18

0

This episode laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. The best thing about it was that we didn’t get to see Hassan at all – Bushra was there to make up for his kami! Tonight’s episode was scripted and directed really well. I must say that even though Rabbiya isn’t your present-day Juliet but I found it hard to dislike her character. I was thinking that she would turn out to be just as bad as Nabeel’s family – someone who you can’t help but dislike instantly but that was not the case. Everyone cannot live on love and that is fair enough. It is good that she was honest about how she felt. The only reason her (over) confidence backfired was because she underestimated Zeeshan’s parents. Zeeshan’s parents were not willing to back off from their stance and Zeeshan did not want to let Rabbiya go, therefore he decided to go ahead with the nikkah. I really appreciate the way Rabbiya’s character has been etched-out and the manner in which Mira Sethi has brought this character to life on screen. I truly felt for Zeeshan, he was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

m1

We have already seen Adeel Hussein dealing with the two wives scenario in detail so yes there will be times when the viewers may see a bit of Shaam in Zeeshan – even the names rhyme! The first wife like all other dramas is full of confidence and vocal while the second one is docile and pretty (of course) who is only going to get married to this man because she has no other choice. She will at some point win him over and then we will be left wondering which one he will leave! I am not sure if I am too eager to see another such situation again in a drama where both the wives are living under the same roof.

The opening scene of the play was very touching; the message was conveyed loud and clear and I am sure everyone out there felt what Romaissa was going through. The conversation between the servants later on should have been short and to the point. The only part of their conversation that really added something new was the one about the way Nabeel distributed gifts and goodies when Hamnah had her daughter. Romaissa’s flashback scenes and thoughts are gradually losing their impact because the way in which they are shown is always the same. The most touching scene of the episode was the one in which Zeeshan goes to Romaissa’s room to congratulate her. Nabeel’s family does not cease to surprise me with their spitefulness; they did not even bother visiting the hospital to see the newborn.

m2

Everyone’s acting was up-to-the-mark in tonight’s episode and the developments in the story were quite convincing too. There could have been less of the servants though! I won’t be surprised if Bushra informs Rabbiya about the nikkah too in the upcoming episodes. I think the preview of the next episode once again gave away more than it should have. It would have been good if we saw Romaissa protesting against her In laws’ decision (in her own passive way) and we were not shown what happened later on. Now everyone knows that there will be a Nikkah and then we will see Zeeshan laying down the “rules and regulations” for Romaissa. I am not looking forward to the two wives living in the same house situation once again. Marriage is not a joke and neither is divorce!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 17

0

Tonight’s episode focused (generously) on everyone’s reaction to Zeeshan’s father’s decision. The viewers were shown in great detail the reactions of all the family members. The first half of the play was filled with meaningless conversations. The only conversation that deserved all the screen time was the one between Rabbiya and Zeeshan. Mira Sethi was brilliant in that particular scene. She portrayed all the emotions of her character flawlessly. Rabbiya found it impossible to believe that Zeeshan’s father could come up with such an unacceptable solution to the problem. Her reaction was justified and shown superbly. I could not be less bothered with how the rest of the family members felt about it because none of them had anything new to say. Those scenes could easily have been chopped down. The viewers know all the family members well enough by now so even a couple of lines from each character would have conveyed the message loud and clear.

m1

Hassan deserves to be shot; the way he has been harassing Romaissa is beyond sickening. But then all of Nabeel’s family members except for Zeeshan of course have done everything in their power and more to make things even more difficult for Romaissa. Even Waleed proved today that he is not just useless but he can also stoop as low as Hassan and Nabeel’s father to get his hands on Romaissa’s money. No surprises there of course.

m4

The best part of this episode was that the viewers got a chance to see a lot of what Romaissa was thinking and going through. Usually we see Romaissa crying, we hardly ever see her thinking or reacting to anything. This time around Romaissa decided to take action. She felt cornered, used and abused. She even turned to Khala in order to get out of the situation she is in and she went as far as contemplating suicide. I am so glad that it wasn’t Zeeshan who rescued her because I was expecting that it may just happen. The two most important people in her life – her father and her dead husband – were the reason she chose to stay alive.

m6

The flashback scene in which Romaissa is talking to her father was truly touching. I wish we could have seen more of the beautiful conversations that Romaissa used to have with her father. The sweet words that her father spoke to her helped me relate to the person Romaissa is today. Her father was obviously her ideal and whatever he taught her is very close to her heart, which is exactly the reason why she is such a harmless and sweet person.

m2

I feel for Adeel Hussein, his character has one more shukki wife to deal with now. But I must admit that Zeeshan’s character is way better than Ehtesham in every way possible and I do not expect it to go downhill. Zeeshan threatened Hassan like a true policeman and I loved him for it!! The preview of the next episode definitely gave me something to look forward to. Looks like it would be Rabbiya’s greed because of which Zeeshan will leave her. No wonder her parents figured out the reason behind Zeeshan’s father’s grand plans – it takes one to know one!! I really liked the way the scene in which Zeeshan sees Romaissa and Hassan talking was shown. In any other drama Zeeshan would have heard the entire conversation but in this one Romaissa spots him the second he is near enough to hear what they are talking about. This was definitely more real.

m7

This episode could have been much better if Nabeel’s family members were given less screen time but overall it was good mainly because it showed the more human side of Romaissa. Sanam Jung was absolutely wonderful in tonight’s episode today. Adeel Hussein never ceases to impress me with his performance and I really liked Mira Sethi in tonight’s episode as well.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 16

0

Mubarak ho!! Romaissa’s Khala is finally out of the picture. This episode was much better than the last one so that would make this one the 6th good episode of the drama. MSKSH doesn’t disappoint you if you don’t have high expectations from it but when you watch one good episode, you can’t help but expect that the next one will deliver too. The story is moving forward slowly, sometimes putting us to sleep and at other times giving us something to look forward to. The problem is that every good episode of the play is a case of too little too late. Every episode should to be judged based on its own merits and demerits so I will try my best to be neutral!

m2

My favorite dialogue from tonight’s episode was “Mujhe is ghur aur masharey pe afsos ho raha hai Baba, jahan aik bewa aurat sirf apne bul bootay pur apne maray huvey shohar ke naam ke sahare izzat se nahi ji sakti”. Zeeshan proved yet again that he is nothing like rest of his family members and that is exactly the reason why Nabeel was so close to him. Nabeel’s father wants to ensure that the money stays in the family at all costs. The “tamam masalon ka hal” advised by his lawyer, with which he is quite content was sickening to the core and only a person like him could go along with such a wicked plan. It was funny when Nabeel’s mother said “aur Rabbiya ka kiya hi ga!!”, as if she really cares! Nabeel’s mother obviously has no idea that they have no chance of winning this situation. Nabeel’s father’s dialogue “Nabeel ne tumhei hamesha vo cheezein di jo usay buhat pasand hoti thi is liye ke usay yakeen tha ke tum usay aziz rakho gay” went to show what a manipulative person he is. Adeel Hussein is a brilliant actor; he is a natural who makes every single scene come to life.

m6

This play is full of villains. It is almost as if all these characters are in competition with each other; trying to prove that they are capable of being much more evil than the other person. Even the maid of the house Bushra is a strong contender!! Bushra has something to say about everything; his advice to Waleed’s wife was hilarious and ironic! I won’t be surprised if she actually starts thinking on those lines.

m3

I must confess that I felt for Romaissa in this episode with all my heart, although I vowed that I would never feel for her again because she can be totally lifeless sometimes. Some of the scenes were extremely moving like the one in which Romaissa tells her mother in law that she needed to go to the doctor for a check up. Her mother in law is as heartless as a person can be. This child must mean so much to Romaissa and it should mean the world to Nabeel’s family too but they are too busy finding ways to get hold of his financial assets. Romaissa’s telephonic conversation with Zeeshan was heart wrenching too; when she broke down and started crying, it was almost as if she was waiting for someone to show some sympathy or concern for her. The scene on the dinner table was equally touching.

m5

Some scenes, developments and dialogues in tonight’s episode reminded me of the play “Ek Nazar Meri Taraf”. I am waiting to see how far will Zeeshan’s (Shaam?;) hamdardi take him.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 15

0

I must say that this episode completely failed to impress or entertain me, things are moving forward at a snail’s pace and some of the scenes in tonight’s episode were too long for my liking and the side characters are getting excessive screen time yet again. Another problem is that there are way too many side characters who are supposed to be very important but I couldn’t care less for them! Khala and her family were given a lot more screen time than they should have been given. There were many scenes that were completely unnecessary. Sajjid’s phone call, business plans and the discussion that ensued was pointless. We already know that Khala and co are very greedy and they are banking on Romaissa’s share, can we please move on now. All the scenes were stretched without any reason. There were a few important developments which you literally had to fish out of all the meaningless details that we were shown in this episode.

 m6

I have heard Nabeel’s father telling his wife how upset he was with her because she asked Romaissa to leave so many times already that my ears hurt when he repeated similar dialogues again today. Zeeshan took a stand for Romaissa just like he did in the previous episode, so there was nothing new about those scenes as well.

m7

Rabbiya has started to have problems with Zeeshan helping Romaissa out, she wants him to do only as much as she is comfortable with. She also gave Zeeshan a long (never ending) lecture on why he should get his share. Zeeshan’s mother’s opinion about Rabbiya has completely changed, the way she asked Romaissa to stay away from her was shocking!

m5

Romaissa still has no idea what her In laws are capable of doing. She still has faith in Nabeel’s father although Khala told her clearly why they wanted her to live with them. Romaissa obviously had no choice because if she stayed at Khala’s house, she would have married her off to her son. I understand Romaissa’s situation but I did not feel for her after watching tonight’s episode. The story has been dragged so much already that I am losing patience now. It is also very difficult to focus on Romaissa’s character when the director herself is finding it hard to stay focused on her. There is absolutely nothing about this play that makes it a must-watch. 15 episodes have gone on air till now and out of them only 5 were worth watching. Our heroine is a bechari – nothing more and nothing less. I wish she had more of a personality.

m2

Technically I should be looking forward to a lot like – Will Khala be able to take Romaissa back with her? Will Hamnah find out that Hassan was behind filing the case? How will Romaissa survive in Nabeel’s house? etc but honestly speaking I am not looking forward to the next episode at all. I am very very disappointed with Hum TV and also with Umera Ahmed; this is definitely not her best work!

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 14

0

Tonight’s episode was extremely saddening. I truly felt for Romaissa and understood even more clearly today why Nabeel used to get so upset when something used to go wrong in his family. Nabeel’s family’s greediness had been well established in the previous few episodes but even then when Hassan resorted to those loathsome tactics to get his hands on Romaissa’s wealth today, I found myself hating his character even more. Now, I actually understand the reason for all the focus on Nabeel’s family. If we were not shown what kind of people they were, it would have been very difficult to relate to all that they are doing to Romaissa now.

m2

The flashback scene in which Nabeel asks Romaissa to look into her crystal ball and tell the future was important in more ways than one. Sometimes things our loved ones say haunt us long after they have been said. These things seem meaningless at that given moment but at some point in life you realize how true they really were. Romaissa did not have the power to predict what the future held for her but Nabeel knew only too well that he had to do everything in his power to ensure that Romaissa did not have any financial problems even if something happened to him. Nabeel was very wise for his age; he knew exactly the kind of people his family members were and what they were capable of doing. He was also wise enough to trust Romaissa blindly even though someone like him who was surrounded by selfish people had plenty of reasons to not trust anyone ever.

m7

Zeeshan and Romaissa are the only two people who have been truly effected by Nabeel’s death. Both of them are finding it impossible to move on with life. When I saw Rabbiya fighting Romaissa’s case in front of Nabeel’s mother and sister I realized why someone like Zeeshan had been so close to this girl all these years. She may have her flaws but she is definitely not ruthless like Nabeel’s mother and rest of the family. We also found out today that Zeeshan wasn’t interested in Rabbiya at first and the relationship was forced on him by his mother.

m1

The scene in which Romaissa is crying at night and her heartless cousin tells her not to disturb her was heart-wrenching. All of Romaissa’s scenes were very emotional and touching; they were well put together. I was not able to connect to Romaissa and Nabeel’s relationship before but now I can totally relate to what these two meant to each other and why their relationship was so special.

m6

The preview of the next episode was intelligently planned this time around so thank you Hum TV for that. Overall, this episode was engaging enough but there were still some scenes that seemed forced and repetitive. The story is getting interesting and I can finally relate to what Romaissa is feeling and going through.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 13

0

Most of us already knew what turn the story was going to take from here but I must hand it to Sakina Samo for the way she directed this particular episode. First of all a big thank you to her for not showing us the dead body and for saving us from all the earsplitting wailing which we see in many dramas. The aftermath of Nabeel’s death was not over dramatized. Romaissa cried her heart out in private and just like most of us anticipated the rest of the family did not take very long to get over Nabeel’s death since there were bigger issues at hand!

m0

I must say that I definitely expected Nabeel’s parents to throw Romaissa out of their lives and their house the second Nabeel passed away but I wasn’t expecting them to sink as low as they did. I was quite sure that they will not play dirty games to get hold of Romaissa’s property and would at least let her keep the jewelry Nabeel bought her. Rabbiya’s role in the entire situation was very interesting, she has no idea where this empathy for Romaissa may lead her! I really wanted to see Rabbiya interacting with Romaissa but for some odd reason we have not seen a single scene with both of them together. Zeeshan and Rabbiya are the only people in the family who are willing to stand by Romaissa. Zeeshan’s recollection of Nabeel’s memories was also shown in a very touching way.

m9
Khala’s reaction was exactly the way we had predicted it would be but the good part was that the focus was not on Khala and Aaliya’s reaction but the focus was on how Romaissa felt after Nabeel’s death. Nabeel’s death changed Romaissa’s life in an instant just like his presence in her life changed everything for her.

I could completely relate to Romaissa’s state of mind today and I must say that some of the scenes in tonight’s episode were truly heart-touching and also very short but meaningful. There were plenty of flashbacks scenes in this latest episode but not one of them seemed out of place or insignificant. Romaissa found it hard to believe that all this had actually happened. Was Nabeel a beautiful dream or was this a dreadful nightmare? Romaissa’s state of mind was portrayed perfectly. The way she felt when she entered Khala’s dirty kitchen was heart-wrenching. She thought she had left this life behind, that the nightmare was finally over but there she was again, in the same house with the same people and Nabeel who was like a beautiful dream for her was gone forever. Coping with the death of a life partner is very difficult for anyone at all but it is even more difficult for someone like Romaissa, who has absolutely no one to give her the emotional support she needs. In fact she is surrounded by vultures who want to make the best of the situation she is in.

m8
The lines from the OST that were played in the background added to the entire feel of this episode and for the first time I couldn’t help but listen to the lyrics intently.

I have absolutely no complaints from Sanam Jung tonight because I felt every bit of what her character was going through. In my opinion this was the best directed episode of MSKSH till now. The preview of the next episode was way too elaborate, I feel like I don’t need to watch the next episode because thanks to the elaborate preview I know exactly what is going to happen next! A request to Hum TV…. please don’t be so generous with showing what is coming next.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 12

0

Jab insaan ke khooni rishtedaar us ko izzat aur mohabbat denay ke bajaye us ko lottery ka ticket samjhein tu takleef tu ho gi na

Finally some words of wisdom from our Romaissa that tugged at my heartstrings. Romaissa and Nabeel’s conversations were definitely the highlight of tonight’s episode. Nabeel opened up to Romaissa like he never did before and for the first time Romaissa shared with someone how she felt about the way she was treated by her Khala’s family. For the first time tonight, I could actually connect with the reasons behind their strong relationship. The reason for this emotional connection could also be that I know only too well what is coming ahead but I must say that I knew that while watching the past few episodes too but I failed to relate to the bond that Romaissa and Nabeel share. It almost felt like these two people who came from two completely different backgrounds and had totally opposite personalities were meant to be together. Yes, I saw Romaissa and Nabeel as soulmates today! Nabeel made future plans with Romaissa completely oblivious of what maybe coming ahead. Romaissa still finds it hard to believe that Nabeel is a part of her life.

m5

Waleed and his wife’s issues coupled with Khala’s never-ending requests completely ruined the feel of tonight’s episode. In my opinion, this episode could have been picture perfect if there was more of Zeeshan and Nabeel than Waleed and Khala’s family. The conversation between Zeeshan and Nabeel was important because Nabeel spelled out clearly to him how he felt about the way his family was treating Romaissa. I must say though that I expected much more from this conversation because of obvious reasons.

m1

The first half of the play was totally forward worthy. All the conversations were long and painful! I found it strange the way everyone in Nabeel’s house was wondering how he found out that his wife had been getting the kids ready for school. He lives in the same house so he was going to find out about it eventually! Even if he wakes up late, he could have noticed that Romaissa was not in the room.

m4

The last few minutes of tonight’s episode were well done; I could feel that something was about to happen. The bad luck started with Nabeel’s call getting disconnected and we didn’t see Nabeel and Romaissa talking after that. The last scene left me confused but I am quite sure it was intended to be that way.

The preview of the next episode did not give away much which I think was a very wise idea. I have seen so many dramas in the recent past in which the most important twists of the upcoming episodes are completely given away in the preview, which kills half of the fun. In my opinion tonight’s episode was sabr ka phal which of course is always well deserved. Like every other episode of the play some of the scenes could easily have been chopped down but overall a much better episode which gave me something to look forward to.

Don’t forget to share your thoughts.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 11

0

There was a time when I thought that the chemistry between Romaissa and Nabeel will make this drama worth watching but I was very wrong. Unfortunately, most of the conversations between Romaissa and Nabeel in tonight’s episode put me to sleep. I completely understand that Nabeel loves Romaissa because she is genuine but the fact that these two cannot even have a normal conversation really puts me off. Sometimes it seems like Nabeel has adopted Romaissa and now his sole purpose in life is to make her dreams come true and to protect her. I understand that we are being shown all of this because very soon everything is going to change but even then I have been unable to connect with them. The obsession/fascination with ducks, fish and everything else is beyond me! Romaissa’s character is very lifeless and has absolutely no depth and I must say that Sanam Jung’s monotone dialogue delivery isn’t helping either.

m1

Zeeshan and Rabbiya’s conversation like always focused more on Nabeel and now his wife than anything else. Zeeshan is very impressed with Romaissa’s ” sughrapha” and thinks she is caring and simple. Romaissa is very harmless and very seedhi but that doesn’t make her character likeable.

m5

I must admit though that an interesting aspect of Romaissa’s personality which I found very believable (for a change) was the way she felt useful by doing favors for others and found nothing wrong with that. Romaissa spent all her life with people who have used her and bullied her, so she doesn’t know any better. She is used to pleasing people so it is nothing out of the ordinary for her. I couldn’t help but wonder though that how was this house running without Romaissa once! And doesn’t her Mother in law know already that Nabeel doesn’t intend to stay with them in the long run so why teach Romaissa how to cook continental, Chinese and Italian?

m2

Every time Nabeel’s mother complaints about Nabeel’s behavior or something that Romaissa did, Nabeel’s father always asks her to be patient because Nabeel’s runs the factory and the house!! No wonder Nabeel craves love and sincerity the way he does. I find it easier to connect to Nabeel’s character because I can understand his deprivations and frustrations. Nabeel’s character has been penned down well too. Romaissa’s dialogues on the other hand are most often very annoying.

The conversation between Hamnah and Nabeel was sweet; it was good to see them interacting like a brother and sister should. Hamnah has finally put her foot down and has given Hassan a last warning. Honestly speaking I have no idea why we should even be interested in finding out whether Hamnah will stay with Hassan or not because these two are one of those many characters in the play who are being given a lot of screen time and importance for no reason at all.

m7

Except for a couple of scenes in tonight’s episode there was absolutely nothing which stood out for me. I must say that at this point, Nabeel is the only character in the play who is keeping my interest alive. I really hope that Romaissa changes for the better in the upcoming episodes. 11 episodes have gone on air till now and there isn’t even one dialogue in the entire drama that touched me and not even one character which I truly fell in love with *sigh*

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 10

0

Here are the highlights of tonight’s episode:

*Romaissa loves to do household chores so thanks to her the servants of the house are getting a good break.

*There was much more interaction between Romaissa and rest of the family members in tonight’s episode. Zeeshan is the only person in Nabeel’s house who thinks that Romaissa deserves to be treated with respect.

*Zeeshan for the first time feels like the way Nabeel keeps on gifting expensive things to Rabbiya may effect his relationship with her.

*Nabeel’s mother has happily accepted Romaissa as the new helping hand in the house and belittles her every chance she gets. Things will get worse between the two in the future.

*The class difference between Romaissa and rest of the women in Nabeel’s household was highlighted further in tonight’s episode.

*Hamnah finally confronts Hassan, who had nothing to say in his defense.

This episode was much better than the last one because things are finally moving ahead but at the same time there were still many scenes that could easily have been chopped down. The first scene was too long for my liking. The maid went on forever although there was actually no need for that extensive unnecessary discussion at all. The fact that non of the women in the house get up early or make breakfast for themselves was reinforced over and over again. Romaissa’s character is turning out to be holier than thou which makes it very difficult for me to connect to her character. She does not appear to be human at all but she seems like someone who was programmed to be good. A few minor human flaws in her character would have made it more relatable. Sanam Jung politeness seems forced and exaggerated at times.

msksh1

I actually found myself feeling for Nabeel more in tonight’s episode than Romaissa maybe because Romaissa’s character is such that it appears to be void of all feelings. Nabeel gets very upset after the phone call from Hassan’s girlfriend which basically went to show how tired he was of taking care of people who were not worth it at all. Romaissa feels like she does not belong in Nabeel’s house because she can never be good enough. It was nice to see Romaissa paying a visit to her friend this time around and not her Khala’s family.

msksh2

Hamnah and Hassan’s scenes are getting highly repetitive. Rabbiya has nothing new to talk about every time she comes on screen. Nabeel’s mother is turning out to be a very annoying character. She is the typical saas who enjoys putting her bahu through hell. Nabeel takes a stand for his wife whenever it is needed and wants to move out of the house as soon as he can. Romaissa’s family is just bad as Nabeel’s, I wonder why Nabeel commented that he didn’t want Romaissa’s family to be like his. Has he forgotten that Romaissa’s Khala literally sold her niece to him.

msksh3

Mikaal Zulfiqar acted very well in tonight’s episode, I wish he can maintain these standards. Sanam Jung is way too sweet and almost unreal, I am sure that was the demand of the character she is playing but sadly it is not coming across as impressive at all. Even ten episodes later, the x factor is completely missing from the play. There is nothing new about the story at all and the characters are too black and white.

Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 1

Sakina Samo and Umera Ahmed have a very interesting history. Sakina Samo directed and produced Umera Ahmed’s very first play on television. She was the one who gave Umera Ahmed the first break on television and there was no stopping her after that! Wajood-e-Laraib was a big hit but Amer Bail which was also directed by Sakina Samo turned out to be a huge disappointment. Sakina Samo however is well known among her colleagues for paying attention to detail. MD productions production values are always top notch so that is something the viewers do not even need to give a second thought. The cast of the play looks very promising and so do the promos, the only thing that slightly disturbed me was that Sanam Jung may be playing a role very similar to the one she played in Dil-e-Muztar. She is extremely cute and very talented, I would hate to see her being typecast. But since this is her second play, it is too soon to pass judgments and of course we have yet to find out what kind of a character she is playing! Same may hold true for Mira Sethi as well, we will find out soon enough. The play is based on Umera Ahmed’s novel Yeh Jo Ik Subha Ka Sitara Hai. I liked the way the viewers were introduced to the characters and the actors through the facebook pages and the morning show on Hum TV; there wasn’t a hype surrounding the play months before it went on air but it was promoted in an impeccable manner in a short span of time. The light hearted side of the play looked very refreshing in the promos. The fact that Ilyas Kashmiri is the director of photography of this drama ensures that it will be nicely shot.

m6

I felt I had to share how I felt about this play after looking at the promos, now something about the first episode. Sanam Jung plays Romaisa, the main protagonist. Romaisa is a simple girl who is surrounded by people who don’t feel anything genuine for her. Sanam Jung’s expressions and outlook did not remind me of her role in Dil-e-Muztar so that was definitely a plus. The opening scene introduced the viewers to what the title of the play implies. Romaisa wakes up every early morning to see the morning star that shines the brightest but always fails to find it. The morning star has a special significance for Romaisa because it reminds her of the happy times of the past.

m4

Romaisa does not fit in her aunt’s household at all. She may have been raised there but she lives in a world of her own. Even after spending so much time with her aunt’s family, she is hardly considered a member of the family. Her greedy aunt (Farah Shah) considers her a bad omen because her parents died when she was very little.

m2

Mansha Pasha was flawless as the over-confident, loud and adventurous Aalia. Her acting was impressive considering that this character is completely different from the ones she has performed till now. In my opinion Aalia’s character stood out more than any other in this first episode. She may have been loud and somewhat annoying but she definitely had a screen presence.

Farah Shah appeared to be a little young for the role she is playing or perhaps her hair was a little too black!

m3

This first episode introduced the viewers to Romaisa’s character and to the people that she is living with. The next episode will introduce us to the rest of the characters. It wasn’t the sort of episode that completely blows you away but also one that did not have any glaring flaws.

Mohabbat Subh Ka Sitara Hai – New drama of Umera Ahmed

Mohabbat Subh Ka Sitara Hai is the next drama serial written by famous writer Umera Ahmed. It will be aired on HUM TV after Kankar. Drama is based on the novel ‘Yeh Jo Subh Ka Sitara Hai‘ of Umera Ahmed.  ‘Yeh Jo Subh Ka Sitara Hai’  is the story of Romaisa, an orphan girl from lower middle class family and the hardships she faces in her life.

subh ka sitara

Here are the main facts about drama

Cast: Sanam Jung, Meekal Zulfiqar, Adeel Husain, Mansha Pasha, Meera Sethi, Aini Zaidi, Farah Shah, Rashid Farooqi and Naeem Tahir

Director: Sakina Sammo

Writer: Umera Ahmed

Producer: Momina Duraid

subh ka sitara 2

It is first drama of Sanam Jung, after Dil-e-Muztar. It is also directed by Sakina Sammo, who previously directed two dramas of Umera Ahmed Wajoode Laraib on Indus Vision (first drama ever written by Umera)  and Amar Bail on TV One, both were not the best dramas of Umera when it comes to production quality. Especially Amar Bail was a big disappointment. Its too soon to comment how Sakina Sammo  has treated this one, but name of producer Momina Duraid is definitely a trademark for quality production.

Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi- The end

0

Kya rishta tha tumhara uskay saath? Jo rishta tumharey liye Allah ne aasmaanon pe nahin banaaya, koi zaroorat nahin hai ussey zameen pe banaaney ki… All this time, Fizza and Aazar went along with their betakallufi without worrying about the consequences. Fizza experienced first hand that staying alone without a wali made people suspicious of her and they were judging her day in and day out. Fizza never took the time to try and resolve her issues- instead she always acted before thinking things through. Aazar and Arham’s relationship grew even more stressful when Aazar disclosed Arham’s medical reports. At the same time, the news of Fizza’s pregnancy gave way to some doubts in Aazar’s mind because he was sure his brother wasn’t capable of becoming a father. What a big difference a little mistake can make! Aazar’s carelessness over the reports (he picked up the wrong reports) added fuel to the fire and caused Arham to doubt his intentions.

th (1)

Aazar finally took the stand to bring Urooj back home in the hope that it would lay Arham’s doubts to rest. Seeing Urooj support him unconditionally made him realize his shortcomings and he worked on improving his marriage. Hum mashriqi logon ka yehi almiya hai…khaandaan mein ek shaqs ko bahar bhijwaatey hain… aur baqi sara khaandaan uskay paison pe aish karta hai… hamaari farmaishon ki lambi list unki jawaani ko nigal laiti hai… Aazar decided to become independent and take responsibility for himself and his family. He felt they had exploited Arham, albeit subconsciously and deprived him of his chance at happiness.

th (2)

Uzma, the fasaad ki jarh finally got a much needed reality check- Bhawajo ki taraf ghaur-o-fikar karna chorrdoh…. It was Uzma who started spinning one story after another until everyone started assuming that whatever she was saying was true. The nand- bhawajj equation was shown very realistically. How many times have we seen things blown out of proportion due to such petty misunderstandings?

th (5)

Aazar admitted they were both as much to blame for the situation than anyone else- Hum nadaani mein itney betakalluf hogaye ke dosro ki nazron mein khatakney lagey…Har who cheez jo limit se bar jaye aise hi problems create kerti hai… Fizza learnt one of the most valuable life lessons through her experiences- Mujhe pehli baar ehsaas horaha hai ke larkiyon ko kitney mohtaat tareeqay se zindagi guzaarni parti hai… unkey bewaqoofi mein uthaye huey qadam unhey zillaton ke gehraiyoun me giraa sakti hai…

th (3)

The story kept me thoroughly engaged- it helped that it aired twice every week but despite that, the pace was perfect and maintained my interest. Every episode had something new to look forward to. In retrospect, there were so many life lessons that this simple gharelu story managed to convey in a span of 17 episodes. Everything had a logical conclusion- Arham apologized profusely for his mistake; Aazar realized he was at fault and rectified his actions; Urooj learnt that patience is a virtue and she got her life back on track; Fizza realized that her life was always beautiful and it took such extreme circumstances for her to appreciate all that she had. I really liked the inclusion of Ashar- very rarely do we come across such a genuinely, selfless friend who took the time to try and reconcile the differences in Arham’s life. The ending was just perfect in every way. This should serve as a reminder to Hum TV and other channels that sometimes it’s the simplest of stories that manage to click with the audience. What started as a drama I started watching merely out of a lack of viewing options, turned into one that I looked forward to week after week. This was not a big budget affair- no foreign locations, no big names associated to the project, yet it delivered exactly what it should. The actors deserve to be applauded for their performance- Armeena suited this role perfectly- it was almost as if this role was written with her in mind. Jibran played his part well. Ali Rehman was thoroughly entertaining and I liked how he took charge of his life. Laila Zuberi is always a pleasure to watch- I especially loved how she wore matching shawls with her outfits. What did you think about the ending?

Yours in watching,

Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi- A closer look at my current guilty pleasure

0

There are dramas you anticipate for any number of reasons- the cast, writer, director, etc. And then there are dramas that take you by surprize. They could have mediocre actors, or newbies, may not be well promoted and if you’re like me and completely oblivious to your surroundings, you will rarely ever know what to look out for. So, while searching for new dramas, I happened to come across Hum TV’s Mohabbat Ab Nahi Hogi and let me start by saying- it is a signature HUM TV drama. Beautifully shot in Islamabad (which has now become a must-visit on my bucket list), MANH managed to pull me into it’s vortex early on.

The cast wasn’t the big draw- it stars Armeena Rana Khan, Syed Jibran, Ali Rehman amongst others. The writer (Saima Akram Chaudhry) was someone I never heard of. But there was just something about the drama that kept me coming back for more. 13 episodes later, I anxiously wait for each new episode and fortunately it airs twice a week! Woo hoo!

Now, let’s get to the story- Fizza (Armeena Rana Khan) is a nakhrelu, moo-phat larki who doesn’t think before she speaks. She gets married to her polar opposite, Arham (Syed Jibran). Arham works in Kuwait for the past 15 years and is a workaholic who takes life a tad too seriously. Arham’s mother (Laila Zuberi) is a sweet and simple woman who wants Arham to get married to a seedhi saadi larki. Little does she know what’s in store for her! Arham’s younger brother, Aazar (Ali Rehman) is hip and cool and the male equivalent of his Bhabi Fizza. The two hit it off right from the start and he takes a keen interest in her dressing, make-up, etc. Since Arham returns to Kuwait shortly after his wedding, Fizza spends most of her time hanging out with her chaheeta devar. Arham and Aazar have a sister, Uzma who is constantly at their home and even though she’s not a cliched nand, she suggests one conspiracy theory after another until things start spiralling into utter chaos.

th (2)

Fizza is perpetually frustrated with her life- she is sure her nand is constantly pumping her saas and she fears her devraani would also gang up against her. She throws tantrums on a daily basis and Aazar is by her side at every turn. She tries to get Aazar to marry her sister but her plan backfires. Instead, after much drama, Aazar marries his polar opposite- a girl name Urooj (Sundus Khan). Shortly after their marriage, Fizza’s jealousy causes her to sow the seeds of discord and seeing the close proximity shared between Aazar and his Bhabi, Urooj leaves him. Both Fizza and Aazar blame others for everything that goes wrong in their lives without realizing they are more to blame for anything than anyone else. Arham happens to catch Aazar consoling Fizza over a Skype call and that’s when he starts becoming suspicious and decides to check up on them. He comes home to find his wife and brother alone in the bedroom and assumes the worst. Things continue getting more and more complicated and are now at a point where Arham has kicked his wife out and plans on divorcing her.

th (1)

The story circles around life after marriage and poses the question- How close is too close? In recent times, we’ve been having too many of these devar/ bhabi stories but most of them (if not all), tend to show a situation in which the devar is after his bhabi. Here, they both get along and from the very beginning we’ve been seeing subtle hints that they will eventually end up together. Fizza and Aazar see nothing wrong in their relationship- anyone who raises an eyebrow gets labeled as being backward. Fizza is appalled that her husband accuses her ruining a muqaddas rishta and here again, it is Aazar who finds her a place to stay and comforts her in her time of need. Even though Aazar is repulsed by his brother’s accusations, it seems they will soon be at a point where he will have to choose between family and his Bhabi. There are no evil characters here-  I think almost everyone is a victim of circumstances. Fizza is too immature to understand that her equation with her devar isn’t acceptable behavior as it is creating a lot of tension in the household. Her saas is too nice to dictate her. Her mother is just as silly as Fizza and believes whatever she narrates. Her sister-in-law keeps assuming things and blurts them without really considering the repercussions. Arham finds Fizza immature but doesn’t understand her frustrations living without him. Aazar is smitten by his Bhabi and doesn’t get that his wife Urooj has a very strong ground for opposing his behaviour…

Mohabbat Aag Si – The End!

Ohkay so, just like we all discussed & predicted, they so didn’t need this particular episode because it was more like a recap of the terrible journey that Apa Ji has lived through. They could’ve easily ended the drama last week by showing that things got sorted between Wajahat & Saba & Arshad threw Apa Ji out of his home!

So, Mahnoor’s confession helped Saba overcome the misunderstanding that she was clinging onto about her husband Wajahat. Not that I am against what Saba did, but I wonder why do all these spouses in our dramas are so insecure that they choose to doubt their husbands & wives just so easily? Wajahat doubted Saba for cheating on him & now Saba did the same but then Saba had the reason to because she saw the photos but what Wajahat did was uncalled for because he chose to believe a random guy who popped out of nowhere. Anyways, Saba deserved so much better but if she is miserably happy with this brain-dead fellow called Wajahat, to phir hum kya kar sakte hain!

I really really really liked Samia’s character because she was the only woman of substance in this drama & she proved it right till the end. She tolerated everything that came her way because she never had a support of her husband but slowly & gradually she earned his respect & trust & after that she was on a winning spree. I must say the only character that emerged stronger than ever throughout this journey was Samia. She showed what a woman is capable of if she on her own will decides to fight her battles herself & doesn’t care about anything as far as she knows what she’s doing is right. I was actually happy that Samia requested & somehow ordered Sharafat that she won’t be staying under the same roof which will be shared by Rukhsana as well & yes, Sharafat earned some points back when he understood what Samia was going through & came out with a solution to ease her pain & support her as soon as possible.

Once again, it wasn’t Arshad who told Rukhsana to leave, she left on her own but once again lied to Bee Jee that she’s the one who ditched Arshad because she really thought that this would give her some sort of satisfaction & would ease her pain that she was feeling after being dissed by Arshad. Honestly speaking, I really want to know that after creating so much mess & after creating havoc in people’s lives, what was she expecting that she’d be forgiven easily? She was her own enemy & that’s about it. She wasted her whole life in a false hope that if Arshad wouldn’t have left her, she would’nt have done such things but nope, that’s not how things roll. One way or the other you’re expected & you’re supposed to move on but those who chose not to do that are at mistake & no one else is responsible for your own shortcomings. I think only writer & Bee Jee are two people who had sympathy with Rukhsana whereas she didn’t deserve an ounce of it actually!!!

They literally used the second half as a recap to show Rukhsana reminsicing about her past, which I feel was a time wasted & was more like a filler in this otherwise content-free episode. Also, the way Rukhsana made it back to her brothers’ home was too random. I am sure this must’ve been another one of her plans that got materialized because she would’ve known the route that Wajahat takes, so she deliberately must’ve sat there in a hope that Wajahat will come & find her & being a brand ambassador of khidmat-e-khalq Wajahat had to stop the car, unbuckle the belt, had to open the door & approach her! Anyhow, Rukhsana embraced death silently after getting a chance to apologize from Saba & Samia. I actually don’t really feel anything at this point because I think the ending came too late & literally killed the suspence, curiosity & the charm of this drama that we all had & that is why I am not convinced with the ending that Rukhsana met. I wanted someone to knock some sense into her but the way Sharafat & Wajahat got liberation after Rukhsana’s death once again made them look spineless because they were depending on karma’s move? Why didn’t they take the situation in their hands ever? Why were they always so chilled & casual about the whole scenario & never bothered about finding the solution to the mental problems that Rukhsana had? It’s like Rukhsana had them bound to herself even when she was alive & also when she died, so that they will be able to find happiness as she were to leave them alone because they would do nothing to grab it themselves!!! The only person who did something productive & wise about it was Arshad who took her to the psychiatrist thinking he was taking a well-needed initiative.

Anyhow, this drama was a case of a hit & a miss. The first season was a hit & the second season was a miss. Saba who had a lot of potential chose to go into a deep slumber ever since she got pregnant. I so wish that she had gotten in contact with Arshad Junior & they would’ve played some mind-games with Rukhsana to bring her down. It’s like the writer couldn’t maintain a balance between the villain & the hero(es) (if any) & that is why the villain was always dominant & one step ahead of everyone else whereas the heroes were following the footsteps of a turtle. Things actually were interesting in the beginning because it was a drama based on such a story that we haven’t seen before but too bad that it was reduced to the typical typical typicalll dusri biwi scenario where a hopeless & helpless man was seen running like a headless chicken because he got his head chopped off as a result of multiple marriages! Also, I most certainly don’t agree with the sympathetic words that Wajahat uttered in order to justify Rukhsana’s behavior. What he said suggested that he was putting a blame on Arshad & his mother for turning Apa Ji into a vamp, but sorry, I don’t buy that. She herself had so much evilness in her that she nurtured it & brought herself to a point where she couldn’t see anyone happy. Also the limits that she crossed with Arshad even before she got married to him was also her own choice, so when she was sane enough to go to such extreme, she should have been sane enough to go easy on her brothers & their wives too!

Anyways, the direction was good but the only complain I have is regarding the pace that was slowed down unnecessarily. Iffat Omar was phenomenal & so was Uzma. Honestly speaking, I only started watching this drama because of Iffat Omar & still believe that she did a commendable job, I wish I could say that about her makeup artist though who made sure that they used such foundations that didn’t match her skin tone at all & that is why, such a pretty face ended up looking quite unpleasant. Uzma joined in the list too & she also became one of the reasons why I followed this drama right till the end. Sara Khan looked haseeeeeeeen in literal sense of the word. She is very pretty & talented & actually my favorite as well. The boys were spineless & that’s why their acting or their presence didn’t matter much but yes, the only guy that was impressive in this drama was Imran Ashraf (Arshad Junior), he really is a very very talented actor & I hope we get to see him in more dramas. I so wish his track was extended a little & he was given a bit more screen time too where he would be seen avenging Shareefa’s death! I liked Shareefa’s character too & she still holds some sympathy in my heart because she deserved a better & happy ending also the actress that played her character did a phenomenal job as well. The ladies for sure were totally impressive. Production value of this drama was good too but I really hope that Hum Tv stops following the footsteps of ARY Digital where when they sense that the drama is doing well, they decide to stretch it like a chewing gum. I hope they take notice of the fact that when chewing gum is streteched more than its elasticity, it loses everything, the shape, the taste & is contaminated by germs, so this is exactly what happens with the dramas too. We’ve said this time & again but this time around I’m using bachon wali example in a hope that someone from Hum Tv actually for the first time ‘understands’ what I am saying in easy words!!! Please share your thoughts about this journey that has finalllllllllllllllly ended!!! Phewww!!!

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episodes 36 & 37!

Ohkay so, finally we got the glimmer of hope that this drama is going to end next week & for that I am relieved & ecstatic. They have stretched it enough & it’s a high time they should end it now. The way things progressed in tonight’s episode made me think that this’d be the last episode but nope, they decided to push it a little further but now that I know it’s going to end, I am fine with it!

Seriously, I don’t want to sound harsh but I thought Sharafat got handicapped physically but he proved that he wasn’t only physically handicapped but mentally too just because he chose to believe everything that Apa Ji said yet again & started doubting Samia. I mean after all that this woman has done, this is how Sharafat decided to pay her back for her loyalty, her sincerity & her patience with such a burden of a husband like him! I mean why do they show that it is so easy to plant a seed of doubt in a husband’s mind against his wife? After all that Sharafat went through & all the things Samia did for him, the last person he should’ve believed should have been Apa Ji because he also knows what Rukhsana is capable of! I actually was taken by surprise when he defended his wife in front of Rukhsana but then, it lasted for a second & the very next moment, he lost his sanity & sensibility. Why was it so easy for Sharafat to judge Samia because she stepped out of the house to make the ends meet? Not that I hold a high opinion about all the men in this drama but Sharafat lost the tad bit of respect I had for him for having a good relation with his wife before his accident.

I guess Saba asked Wajahat to prove his innocence but did he do anything? I am asking because I never saw him moving a muscle or worrying sick about how he should mend the situation? All he did was sit in his comfortable office chair & shed a few glycerin-filled tears? I guess he got a bit too comfortable in his state of self-pity that he decided to prolong it & not bother about the things his wife had asked him to do. Honestly speaking, it is hard for me to figure out who’s more useless when it comes to using the thing known as a ‘brain’; Sharafat or Wajahat? I actually had added Arshad’s name in the list too but he redeemed himself in tonight’s episode because he wasn’t actually that clue, brain & spine-less!

Just like Rukhsana has no purpose in her life, I honestly felt that this drama has no purpose left whatsoever as well but I am glad that they wrapped things up & now the only thing’s that’s left to see is Rukhsana’s end. The amount of screaming Rukhsana has done in these couple of episodes has actually deafened me to some extent. Even though I knew what had transpired between Rukhsana & Arshad 12 years ago, but to hear it out loud actually left me disgusted & made me feel that Fareeda should leave Arshad after finding the truth about the level of his love affair with Rukhsana, but before she could’ve taken any decision she got the news she was waiting for & yes, she fell pregnant which was too predictable because something of this level was definitely needed to wake & shake Arshad up, otherwise he also got a little too comfortable with the multiple marriage situation.

Even though this drama deviated from the main topic & things became ugly, but the only thing I found sensible enough was Arshad’s decision of taking Rukhsana to a psychiatrist. I think we never see that happening in our dramas where a person who actually suffers from some mental issues is made to visit a shrink. Arshad took an initiative in a very good manner because it showed that despite all that Rukhsana has done to him, he actually cared for her & loved her enough to have taken a step to improve her mental condition but Rukhsana failed to see his sincere attempt of helping her & started another drama. What Arshad did was more like a solution to Rukhsana’s problem & an initiative to help her wisely. He did think that may be Rukhsana will feel at ease but she didn’t budge at all. Obviously, later when he found out that he was going to become a father, the puzzle got solved & he understood that Rukhsana was lying to him throughout & she never loved him. All the things Arshad said to her showed that he wasn’t oblivious of what Rukhsana was up-to but he kept on giving her a chance thinking she might stop but what pushed him was the lie that she told him about his medical reports!

Mahnoor couldn’t live with the guilt & she decided to free herself from the house-arrest that Rukhsana put her through. It was good to see that things were going against Rukhsana because I think her time of glory has lasted for too long & now she should pay for all that she has done. Finally Mahnoor was able to see Wajahat & even Saba so it obviously means that things will be fine from now on for both of them. Sharafat managed to get up & walk on his feet but the way that shot was captured made me LOL, there was something hilarious about the way Sharafat ran but chalo, dair aye durust aye!

The preview of the next episode suggested that Wajahat will find Rukhsana in a miserable condition so I am guessing that he’d bring her home but this isn’t exactly how her ending should be where her brothers will forgive her for wrecking their lives time & again. I think showing her miserable with a mazloomana soundtrack in the background isn’t the perfect idea of putting an end to Rukhsana’s story. She deserves something harsh & severe so I hope she’s served what she deserves. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these episodes & let me know how happy you are after finding out that Mohabbat Aag Si is ending next week? :)

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 5 – 6

It is often said that love is like fire, if you don’t keep it alive it dies! Well Aapa Ji believes in this saying more than anyone else in this drama!! She is so eager to keep this “fire” alive that it looks like she is not afraid that it might eventually burn all the relationships she has invested so much time and effort into building. Aapa Ji is the sort of person who does not believe in letting go and there is no end to her manipulation. Wajahat’s attempt to take his own life was predictable but the way Aapa Ji reacted was definitely not what I had expected. Even after everything that transpired she remained unmoved and did not budge from her stance. Taking her brothers on a guilt trip and making the most of whatever she has done for them in the past has been working really well for her all these years therefore she knows just how to manipulate her brothers. The only thing new about Aapa Ji’s character is the double life she lives other than that she is your average negative female character which we see on screen all the time – she is lonely, insecure, conniving, manipulative and jealous. The fact that Iffat Omer has played a role like this for the first time is probably one of the biggest reasons why my interest in the play stays intact till now otherwise if it was any other actress I would have stopped watching the play by now.

The viewers learned that Rukhsana has a friend too who she probably dresses up for and talks on the phone with. I couldn’t help but wonder if this “friend” was a figment of her imagination or he was actually real. Real or not this is someone who knows everything that goes on in the house and also tries to warn Rukhsana about the consequences of her actions but ultimately has to agree with her. The scene in which Samia finds out that Wajahat has taken the pills was utterly confusing because if all of this happened in the wee hours of the morning then this was definitely not the sort of routine we were shown in the first few episodes because Samia always woke Aapa Ji first but this time everyone was up and about and Aapa Ji was sleeping. Yes, this happened once before too but that was an accident and after all the drama that followed the incident one would expect Rukhsana to be more careful!

mag

Saba’s change of heart was very relatable, the news of Wajahat’s suicide attempt gave her the courage to do everything she could to stop this engagement because as long as she did not get engaged there was still hope. I understand why Saba’s mother wouldn’t want her to get married to anyone who is this close to Rukhsana. She is obviously scared that her daughter will end up having a life like Samia too if she gets married to Wajahat.

Azfar Rehman has never impressed me with his acting, I have always felt that even if he chooses to do different kind of characters there is always more of Azfar Rehman in the drama than the character he is playing, perhaps because of the similar expressions and outlook. I have always been unable to take him seriously and his acting hasn’t impressed me in this serial too. Tipu Sharif on the other hands looks and plays the character flawlessly. Sara Khan is another actress who has come a long way. She is very convincing as Saba. Overall this drama doesn’t have anything new to offer but the recent developments have given me reason to watch it next week too and I am watching it for Iffat Omer. I want to find out how the status quo in Aapa Ji’s house changes after someone bold and outspoken like Saba becomes a part of it.

How many of you watched these two episodes? Do share your thoughts about them.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 4

This episode just like the previous focused solely on Saba and Wajaht’s proposal a little too much for my liking!! Aapa Ji played her cards right. Who would know better than her how badly it hurts when someone else tells you something regarding the personal life of your loved one when you don’t have a clue. She knew that Saba’s mother would react the way she reacted and she could blame her for everything. It was good to see Saba communicating her feelings to Wajahat and Wajahat doubting his Aapa. Had he not doubted her he would never have asked Samia who she thought was responsible for everything that happened. For now it seems like Aapa is fighting a lost battle because Wajahat is not going to get over Saba that easily. Saba is a confident girl who will fight her case too.

I must say that some parts of tonight’s episode seemed repetitive but as long as the story moves forward in the next episode that can easily be forgiven. If this play is going to be about Aapa’s plotting and planning alone to keep Wajahat away from Saba then it will definitely not be what I expected it to be. Am I the only one who thinks that if there was a little more of “Rukhsana” in every episode it would add a nice change to the drama and also keep the viewers wondering what other secret does this character hold since many of us who are watching this play are watching it mainly for this character. There was nothing new about the way Aapa Ji felt about getting her brother who is like a son married to someone like Saba who she knows will never be as “obedient” as Samia. We have seen that many times before too.

8 7

I must say that Seema Sehar is a very good addition to our television industry. She played the perfect mother who had unconditional love for her step son brilliantly in Mera Naam Yousuf Hai and she is very convincing as the responsible, cautious and overprotective mother in this play too. After watching these 4 episodes I feel that the characters lack the depth which I was hoping they would have or maybe I was expecting too much. It is too early to say what turn the story will take but it seems like the director will take his time revealing the past of Aapa’s character to us.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 34 & 35! *thumbs down*

Ohkay so, honestly speaking I really had a hard time watching the first episode of the week. As I watched the uploaded video, I literally took 2 hours to complete one single episode as it really didn’t grab attention & didn’t seem interesting at all. I had a hard time because looks like the story has become stagnant & is failing to move forward.

I am glad that Mahnoor did what Rukhsana asked her to do, the reason being that it serves Wajahat right. He lied to Saba, didn’t tell her such basic things that he should have & he landed himself in trouble. Not that I haven’t mentioned it before, but I feel like saying it again, he is the worst character of the lot because he has no brains of his own whatsoever. He allowed a teenager to trap him & he agreed. I guess he is taking that Sharafat after Sharafat. The way he has gone into silent mode makes me feel that he is not going to come up with a proof of his innocence anytime soon, so it means we’re stuck in a rut when it comes to his track.

I really like watching Samia’s scenes especially when she confronts Rukhsana & doesn’t leave an opportunity to get back at her. I guess it’s a high time someone showed Rukhsana her right place, not that it casts any affect on her but still, she should know that all the things that she has done aren’t forgivable. The second episode of the week was still better because I sensed things were going against Rukhsana’s plans especially in regards to Arshad because looks like he has started to decipher her mentality & he can foresee the lengths she can go to in order to achieve what she wants.

I was relieved to see that Arshad played a mind game with Rukhsana too & he didn’t send Fareeda away. In fact he chose to believe Fareeda’s version over Rukhsana’s because he can clearly see the difference between their personalities, their temperaments & their characters. At first, I was ticked off that Arshad was unable to understand & he followed Rukhsana to her brother’s place but then I guess he himself had a plan & thought that it was a better idea to keep Fareeda & Rukhsana away from each other, although it doesn’t suit him that he agreed to live at Sharafat & Wajahat’s house because he himself said he wanted to maintain a balance between his two wives, so to see him completely ignoring Fareeda & following Rukhsana’s lead made me question his credibility. However, I am glad that he has started to read between the lines & he can see the rage & anger that Rukhsana is capable of. The way Arshad mend ties with Fareeda & chose to believe her showed clearly that he is well aware of the fact that Rukhsana has a problem with every single woman around her, so how can she leave Fareeda alone?

Mahnoor did what she was asked to but seems like she is feeling guilty as well but still, nothing that she’ll say will make her innocent because she is wise enough to have a faintest idea about what’s right & what’s not, so even if she followed the orders, she is just as much of a culprit as Rukhsana. Rukhsana is doing everything to carry out her plans just the way she wants but in all honesty, it is getting boring to watch her succeed again & again. I really didn’t get the purpose behind Rukhsana’s stay at Sharafat & Wajahat’s home. She is married & she should stay wherever Arshad lives, but then I guess the writer wants to prolong the drama that’s why the story is being shifted from petty to pettiest things & the solution is nowhere to be seen in the near future.

It’s good to see that Samia has stepped up & she is doing everything she can to help her husband. Saba is shattered emotionally because she never had imagined that Wajahat could do something like that. I think this time around as well, Wajahat wouldn’t have to do anything himself because may be Mahnoor will swoop in & testify that Wajahat’s not guilty because other than that I don’t see it happening any other way. Also, I liked the way all the family members didn’t pay extra attention to Rukhsana & treated her a nobody because yes, she isn’t welcomed in that house anymore & it was the right of them to get that message across loud & clear.

I actually feel a lot for Fareeda because she didn’t deserve such harsh circumstances where the only person she loves & respects the most questions her loyalty towards him that too only because of a person like Rukhsana. I have a feeling that she will fall pregnant & that will serve as an eye-opener for Arshad where he will get rid of Rukhsana because one, he will realize that Fareeda was right because she prayed in front him for never becoming a mother if she was wrong or at fault & second, he will also understand that Rukhsana even lied to him about his medical reports. Somehow Arshad has started to see that Rukhsana still isn’t that trust-worthy & I think that’s exactly what we need at this stage of the drama.

The preview of the next episode didn’t seem too enticing because looks like nothing special would happen that will take the story forward, also the new character of maid that was introduced seemed totally unnecessary. Honestly speaking, just before Shareefa’s death, I feel someone else wrote Mohabbat Aag Si because till that part the story was interesting & different but after that, looks like some other writer has taken over & has made the story quite typical where the typical dusri biwi scenario was introduced, things have gotten messier & the story has been confined to the day-to-day household affairs & scenarios since then. I so wish this drama ends in next 4 episodes & has a decent ending where Rukhsana sows what she has reaped. Share your thoughts about these 2 episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 32 & 33!

Ohkay so, as much as I do think that the story is interesting, I think they are now stretching it for no reason because I feel it’s about time that Rukhsana should get exposed & be sent to some place where she can be miserable after getting abandoned by everyone.

Honestly speaking, I actually thought that it was a coincidence that Mahnoor came across Wajahat but I was shocked to see that it was Rukhsana who was behind this. I honestly hope that these petty non-issues between Saba & Wajahat don’t cause such level of rift between them where Wajahat will start fancying Mahnoor over his expectant wife. I so wish they show us a couple that believes in dealing with all their problems with patience & also believes in sticking together because so far Saba has always stood by Wajahat’s side, even when he doubted her so Saba deserves that much of loyalty from Wajahat.

I really am not a fan of Mahnoor & I don’t think I will be right till the end. She has come to Karachi to study so I guess she should do that & in stead of being pally with Rukhsana, she should seek guidance from Fareeda because by the end of the day, she is Fareeda’s cousin & her father gave her responsibility to Fareeda. Yes, I do get the drill that Mahnoor dreams big & wants to stay in Karachi but I guess she should be mature enough to keep herself away from any trouble. Rukhsana obviously knows how to manipulate people but I think Mahnoor should be cautious enough to understand what’s right & what’s not. I really think her intelligence is being insulted by showing that she can fall prey to a trap because of a mobile phone. Yes, Rukhsana is helping her a lot & it was fine till that point but now when Mahnoor is being pushed to lie to & about Fareeda is getting a bit too much & I guess it should serve as a wake-up call to Mahnoor that she is being forced to do something that is completely wrong.

All of a sudden, I feel we’re watching a second season of Mohabbat Aag Si because the story & the plot has changed ever since Rukhsana has gotten married. I think Rukhsana is bored once again because she has gotten what she wanted all her life, which was Arshad, so now when that hope & yearning is done & dusted, she is trying to look for a new adventure, which includes telling lies to her husband. She had the audacity to lie to him that he can’t father a child which obviously made it a bit more clear that Rukhsana doesn’t love anyone except herself.

I feel the way they show some flashbacks revolving around the guilt pangs that Rukhsana feels, they are trying to turn her into a victim. I say that because of the repetitive dialogues between her & Bee jee regarding how bechari Rukhsana is & how tough life was on her are definitely directing us to feel bad for her which definitely is not possible because she was evil, she is evil & she will be evil! She crossed her limits 12 years ago with Arshad & that too on her own free-will, she put herself in such a situation where she had to put an end to her pregnancy & no one forced her to do that, she then started destroying her brother’s lives & she is also responsible for Shareefa’s death, so I guess that’s enough to understand that she is mentally deranged & deserves no sympathy whatsoever!!!

I so wish someone knocks some sense into Arshad, I mean he has spend 11 years with Fareeda & he himself knows every dirty little secret related to Rukhsana, so how come he is easily misjudging his wife of 11 years? The span on 11 years is enough for a husband to know & understand his wife, so I think it isn’t very intelligent of Arshad to allow Rukhsana to use him as a puppet & the way Arshad behaves makes me say it again that they are dragging the story now & for no good reason. I still don’t understand that after doing so much & landing into trouble so many times, Rukhsana still hasn’t learnt her lesson & is now confident than ever that she can get away with another trickery of manipulating circumstances against Fareeda? The whole Fareeda-got-Mahnoor-a-mobile situation was quite petty & what’s more petty was that Arshad easily agreed that Fareeda would lie to him & Rukhsana was being so generous to take a blame on herself to save Fareeda! I really think Arshad should stop being a puppet & start thinking things through because of all the people if there’s someone who deserves Arshad’s loyalty & sincerity is Fareeda.

Things are hard on Samia but it’s good to see her empowering herself & taking control over the situation. Seems like her new boss is a good person & she will finally be able to earn for her family without any hiccups. I really feel that the dynamics have been changed where every active character has taken a back seat & those who weren’t in such a limelight are now grabbing the attention. I wanted to see more of Arshad Jr. because it looked like he wanted to tell something to Saba about Rukhsana but he’s MIA! I so wish that Wajahat stops being Mahnoor’s personal chauffeur & starts worrying about his baby on the way. He definitely is my least favorite character & he has always been because he has done everything that is unreasonable. He lacks sensibility, bickers over petty issues, has trust issues & now he is allowing an irritating girl to steer the course of his life. He definitely is having some thoughts about her & if he was so honest & clear about his equation with Mahnoor, he would’ve shared it with Saba right away but he didn’t which means that this meaningless relation definitely means something to him. I really hope that they would start packing things up because that’s more than enough actually & now it’s a high time for Rukhsana to get exposed & thrown away from everyone’s life because it’s seriously getting repetitive & boring to see her planning & plotting. Please share your thoughts & let us know if you also feel that the drama should end now?

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 30 & 31!

Ohkay so, these two episodes this week were kind of slow & nothing much happened which brings me to the point that its a high time they should start wrapping the story up & should end the drama in probably next two weeks because I think that’s going to be more than enough. They have pretty much revealed everything but the only thing that’s left to unravel is karma’s turn against Rukhsana so I guess its about time that should happen as well.

Seems like finally Sharafat got to know that everything that Samia & Saba ever said about his beloved Apa Ji was nothing but the truth because he got enough evidence that told him the story of Apa Ji’s piety & truthfulness. It obviously didn’t take too long for Sharafat to understand that Apa Ji has definitely deceived him & everyone in the family but he couldn’t really understand her motive behind all the wrongdoing that is why he ended up meeting an accident as he was too lost in his own thoughts & hurt by the sense of betrayal. I guess that was the highlight of the whole episode for me when Sharafat told Apa Ji off very subtly because it was a high time he should have done that. Somehow I have always liked Samia & Sharafat’s relationship, they both have been through tough times together, were always were there for each other so the only thing that was missing was Sharafat’s sensibility so now to see him gaining it back made his & Samia’s equation perfect. All of a sudden Samia found a new confidence because she knew that Sharafat was on her side & now there’s nothing that Apa Ji would say will have an affect on him.

Honestly speaking, I really have no idea why do the writers make the mothers either too naive or too annoying in our dramas. On one hand Samia’s mother is too naive but that’s ohkay because she doesn’t contribute much in the story anyways but Saba’s mother is not only annoying but irritating as well. She just doesn’t know how to mind her own business & honestly, I am glad that Wajahat moved out of her house because that means we wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore. Yes, I will give it to her that she says all that because she’s concerned for her daughter but there’s a way to put things across but she doesn’t have a basic sense which makes her sound very harsh & bitter. Anyways, to see her becoming a wall between Wajahat & Saba wasn’t too appeasing but I am glad that part is over now & they are back at Wajahat’s place & are celebrating because they have a baby on the way.

I really feel bad for Fareeda because she doesn’t know what’s brewing in Rukhsana’s mind. I really don’t understand what is it in Rukhsana that doesn’t allow her to be nice to people who’re nice to her. She is always looking for some trouble but then that is because her planning has never gone wrong & she has only benefited from it but I so wish her luck would stop favoring her. I also don’t understand Arshad as well, I guess he loves her way too much & is way too guilty to confront her for all the things that are wrong about her. He comes across as a bit too spineless at the moment because he clearly is failing to maintain a balance between Fareeda & Rukhsana, which I hope will change but for now, I really don’t understand what is stopping him to take a stand. Arshad himself witnessed the hissy fit Rukhsana threw when she got insulted by Samia, so any sane person would understand that the things Rukhsana said weren’t normal at all & that brings me to a point that Arshad should stop taking things lightly & keep an eye on what’s Rukhsana’s upto because she can harm anyone; including him!

I really don’t think introducing a new character at this stage was a good idea. Mahnoor has made an entry & looks like Rukhsana is trying to turn her into another Sharifa whom she would sweet-talk into doing things that would only benefit her. I really hope that before anything happens, Mahnoor backs out or reveals Rukhsana’s secrets because almost all the aspects have been covered & everyone has had a fresh start, leaving Rukhsana to pay the price for everything that she has done. I don’t think being estranged from her brothers or being insulted by Samia is enough of a punishment for her. Let’s hope they wrap the story up quickly & give us a satisfactory ending without dragging it any further. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 3

This episode just like the last one left me wanting to know more about both Rukhsana and Apa Ji! It has been well established after this latest installment that one thing that both these personalities have in common is that they do not like it when things don’t go exactly the way they want. We found out today that Apa Ji raised both her brothers because their parents passed away. Since she dedicated her whole life to raising them she feels she is entitled to complete compliance from both of them. While Sharaft and his wife have not given Apa Ji any trouble till now, it looks like Wajaht and Saba are not going to be as obedient as them. The only reason Apa Ji turns to Sharifa for advice is that she knows that she is the only one who thinks exactly on the same lines as her and she will never say anything which would be against Apa Ji’s wishes.

Apa Ji’s conversation with Sharifa about how she would feel if her son fell in love with someone and later on the flashback scene in which she was shown “disciplining” Wajahat when he was a child showed how she felt about her brothers and how important it was for her to make sure that they always put her before anything else. Everything that Sharifa says actually reflects Apa’s state of mind especially the part about brothers and sisters being more important than anyone else!

I must confess that I am not a big fan of Tipu Sharif but I like his outlook and the way he has translated his character on screen in this play. Sharafat will never question his Apa Ji’s decision because he feels that he owes her that and much and more because of everything that she has done for him but at the same time he has a decent relationship with his wife perhaps because until now Samia has done everything she can to keep Apa Ji happy.

In this episode as well Iffat Omer stole the show yet again but it would be unfair if I do not give due credit to all the other actors who have given equally brilliant performances but not every character has the screen presence which Apa Ji’s character has. I must say that I would have liked to see more of Rukhsana’s character in tonight’s episode but I guess the director wants to keep the mystery alive for a few more episodes.

The preview of the next episode showed that things are going to get even more complicated therefore I am wondering how this marriage will take place. Will Wajahat do something to change Apa Ji’s mind? Something much more serious than crying? For now Iffat Omer remains the highlight of this drama and has given me reason to tune in to see more of her in the next episode which is only a day away! I think it is a very good idea to show these serials twice a week because that way the story moves forward quickly and even if the play isn’t extraordinary you watch it for the good pace, acting and direction. I would give full marks to the director for short and to the point scenes. The story has been flowing very smoothly till now.

How many of you watched this latest installment? Do share your thoughts about it.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 26 – 29!

Ohkay so, these past 4 episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si were quite interesting & done nicely. I think it is commendable that even though so many episodes have gone by, they have still managed to keep the quotient of suspense till date. All the happenings that have taken place in story were things that I wasn’t expecting at all & I think it’s the unpredictability as well that makes me look forward to this drama the most.

Honestly, I was glad that Samia decided to do something unusual & decided to eavesdrop on Wajahat & Rukhsana. It was a high time she found out about what Rukhsana used to do to her & I must say, all the confrontations that followed were intense & perfectly tackled. I loved the way Samia showed Rukhsana her right place & openly told her off. Only Samia knows what she went through while she was waiting for her baby & to know that it was only because of Rukhsana that she had to wait for so long made her lose her mind. I loved the transition Samia showed, from being someone who would never doubt Apa Ji to someone who would never trust her again. I think it was very intelligent of Samia that she didn’t give Apa Ji a benefit of doubt & straight away believed what she heard from Wajahat because all of a sudden she picked up the pieces & everything started making sense to her. Saba always tried to make Samia understand that something was off about Rukhsana but now Samia clearly got Saba’s point.

Honestly, of all the people, I wanted Sharifa to find her happy ending because she deserved it the most. Sharifa for sure deserved to be set free from Rukhsana’s cage & trap. It was very sweet of Arshad Jr. to convince his mother for his & Sharifa’s wedding but unfortunately, he couldn’t save her. Rukhsana sent Sharifa away so that she could put the blame on her in the first place but she actually made me believe that she wanted to do something for her & wanted to pay her back for her years of commitment & loyalty to her but in stead her only plan was to use Sharifa’s absence in her favour. I think Sharifa, even after spending her whole life with Rukhsana couldn’t really understand what Rukhsana was made of & that is why she naively believed that Rukhsana would be happy to hear about the news of her marriage to Arshad Jr. It was very unfortunate that once again, in stead of thinking about her own happiness, Sharifa gave priority to Rukhsana’s word & chose to die because she couldn’t bring herself to say no to her beloved Apa Ji.

I must say, even though I know for a fact that Rukhsana is evil & she is dishonest, but she surprises me every single time with her diabolicalness because the way she used Sharifa’s death for her own benefit was something that I never expected & was shocked to see. Yes, I do understand that Rukhsana would do anything to save herself but to see her stooping so low to a point where she wouldn’t even care a dime about Sharifa & her life-long sincerity made me hate Rukhsana’s character even more. Rukhsana actually had the audacity to write a letter & read it out loud to her whole family. Like always, Sharafat fell for everything that he was told by his Apa Ji but at least, it was good to see that Samia didn’t buy anything that Rukhsana said & in fact she even discussed it with Saba because it is Samia who has seen the true face of Rukhsana as she herself admitted everything that too confidently in front of her, so Samia is now at a point where she knows that everything that Rukhsana has said, will say or will be saying would only be a lie & nothing else.

Honestly, Rukhsana getting married to Arshad Sr. was the last thing I wanted to see because after spewing so many lies & manipulating so many people’s lives, she doesn’t deserve even an iota of happiness. Yes, I do understand that she still didn’t get Arshad completely even after getting married to him, but I guess that still isn’t enough of a punishment for someone as evil as her. At least, she got that satisfaction for a moment that she finally married the man of her dreams but she doesn’t even deserve that. I don’t think it is very wise of Fareeda to take a back seat like that & allow Rukhsana to rule her life so easily. The sacrifice Fareeda has given for her husband is already enough that now if she feel she has to leave everything at Rukhsana’s mercy is a bigger mistake.

Anyways, so far Mohabbat Aag Si has been very interesting & I want to see what end would Rukhsana meet. I actually fail to feel anything for her because even though everything that Bee Jee said about her was right, Rukhsana lost her credibility once she got involved in the chase of ownership, where she wanted to own her brothers because that way she forgot to give love to them. She has gone a bit too far to earn anyone’s forgiveness & for that I hope she pays a heavy price for it. I really hope the writer here isn’t trying to turn Rukhsana into a victim by reminding us again & again of all the things she has done for her brothers because that’s water under the bridge now. For me, the way she prevented Samia from getting pregnant, the game she played to separate Saba & Wajahat, the way she planned the death of Samia’s unborn child & now the way she turned Sharifa into the culprit after her death, are the things that define Rukhsana & for doing all of that, she is guilty & definitely not a victim of course. I must say everyone has acted brilliantly but in these few episodes, Uzma has definitely stood out the most. The way she has played the character of Samia & has translated her pain & anguish on screen is phenomenal. She actually gave a perfect face to all the feelings & emotions that Samia experienced once she learnt the truth about Rukhsana & her acting in those confrontational scenes was brilliant. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si & from this week onward, you guys will be getting regular reviews as I am done with my vacations! :)

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 24 & 25!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si were interesting but what I liked the most about this week’s show is that the story is being tackledvery intelligently because they have now started to establish the grounds for the ending because the way things are going wrong for Rukhsana tell us what’s about to come.

I think Sharafat should be grateful for being lucky because the way he tackled his wife’s pregnancy showed that they both could lose their baby anytime & honestly, to see their child surviving through came as a surprise to me. Sharafat made it very clear that despite being simple, he is mentally slow as well because he could choose to see his wife in pain but he couldn’t come up with a simple solution & that was to take her to the hospital. I think the change in Samia’s behavior hint a little that she has started to doubt Sharifa & Rukhsana & I think it’s a high time she should buckle up because now she has to take care of her son & herself all alone because Sharafat is too Shareef to see the wrongdoings of his Apa Ji. I think Samia needs a little convincing because when she herself will start to believe everything that Saba tells her, she will somehow knock some sense into Sharafat too.

Even though there was a massive glitch in the time lapse shown in these episodes, I am glad that Wajahat put two & two together & mend ways with Saba. When Saba left, Samia was just in the initial stages of her pregnancy but now when she came back, or rather even before she came back, Samia had given birth to her baby. I don’t think it took Wajahat months to understand what was happening because they made it seem like one day he found about Rukhsana & the next day he brought Saba home, but nevertheless, I am glad he did admit that he was at fault & worked ways out with his wife. I think Rukhsana should understand that things aren’t happening her way anymore because she herself is committing so many mistakes & unconsciously exposing herself. What I really find evil about her is that she fails to understand that she is ruining everyone’s life. Rukhsana still doesn’t see herself as the culprit & thinks she is right in her own accord. Rukhsana’s biggest mistake is that she thinks she can control her brothers & their wives for the rest of her life but she must know that she got lucky with Samia but Saba is logical & inquisitive, therefore she wouldn’t allow Rukhsana to rule her & her husband Wajahat so easily.

I don’t really understand Arshad Sr. to be honest. Yes, he still loves Rukhsana but I think he himself can see that she has changed completely & has become quite a difficult & bitter person but still he chooses to ignore Fareeda & thinks he can have a life with Rukhsana. I don’t really understand what he wants when he refers to Fareeda as Dusri Aurat & Rukhsana as Pehli Aurat/Mohabbat. When the time was right, Arshad Sr. couldn’t take a stand for his love so he should leave things the way they are. It was totally unpleasant to see Rukhsana hearing Fareeda’s side of the story where she tried to tell how hurt she was when her husband admitted about being involved with someone else. I found it disgusting that even though Rukhsana could see what Fareeda was going through, she extracted the satisfaction out of her misery just because she got to know that Arshad Sr. admitted in front of his wife that he was seeing someone (Rukhsana), which, to her came as an acknowledgment of their relationship.

I must say the best acting bits came from Faiza Gillani & Imran Ashraf this week. Their individual & combined tracks are the most interesting parts of the current scenario. I really felt for Sharifa when she recalled everything that she has done for Rukhsana. Indeed, she was a true friend & a confidant to her because she never once questioned Rukhsana & did everything that she asked her to do. I actually doubt that Rukhsana sent Sharifa off for her own benefit because right now, Rukhsana is in that state of mind where she only puts herself as a priority & that is why I don’t think she actually feels a thing for Sharifa. Honestly, all this while I felt that Arshad Jr. was never serious about Sharifa but when he got to hear what she has gone through, he felt he could relate to her & understand her even more & this is exactly what made him change his mind. I don’t think he is in love with her but yes he surely has a soft corner for her which might turn into love anytime soon. I like Arshad Jr’s. character too because all the things he said to his mother made him look like any other real person who does everything to provide for his family because he knows that’s what is being expected of him.

Overall, these two episodes were good to watch. The way Rukhsana played a game so that she could escape from the hospital to meet Arshad Sr. goes to show how much she takes her family for granted & how easily she insults their intelligence but I guess she used to get away with everything she did because no one was there to question her in the past but right now both Wajahat & Saba are keeping their eyes open & Rukhsana won’t be able to protect her secret for long now. I am eagerly looking forward to the confrontation between Samia & Rukhsana, I so want to see what pushed Samia to that limit where she resorted to that level of fury in dealing with Rukhsana. All the actors have done a brilliant job in giving life to these characters & I must commend the writer for giving them very real personalities because of which we all can understand & relate to them effortlessly. Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 22 & 23!

This drama has become a lot more interesting & I think it is very intelligently directed because all the cards are being revealed properly & just at the right time. I think Mohabbat Aag Si has the potential of keeping the viewers engaged till the end if they keep up with the element of mystery & give away the details when needed.

Looks like Arshad Junior also has some ulterior motives, that is why he decided to help Saba in her plan of exposing Apa Ji. Arshad Jr. is playing his cards well because he knows Sharifa is the most important person in Rukhsana’s life & if he can stay closer to her, he can get an easy access into Apa Ji’s life. I must say the actor who is playing the role of Arshad Jr. has done a commendable job. The way he changes his tone & expressions while speaking to different people really tells what a complicated person he is & the actor has done full justice to his character. I think it was wise of Saba to depend on Arshad Jr. because where she is eager to prove herself right, she has no other option left than to rely on him. Arshad Jr’s call to Rukhsana told how once Rukhsana even made a pass at him just because of his name & now when the real Arshad has returned, she is trying to avoid Arshad Jr. also because he knows about her secret & also because she doesn’t want Sharifa to find out about her intentions related to him Arshad Jr.

The conversation Saba’s father had with Wajahat was done nicely. Very subtly he told him the difference between having a right perspective & following someone blindly to a fault. I am sure this is what convinced Wajahat to have a thought about what he has done & that is why he went to meet Arshad Senior. Even though Arshad Sr. didn’t give him a clear answer but quite intelligently he tried to clear off Saba’s name as he genuinely felt bad for her. I really thought after all that he has witnessed, Arshad Sr. will part ways with Rukhsana because she is hopeless but the things he said to Bee Ji about her told that he still falls weak in front of her because he is guilty of abandoning her 12 years ago. Even though he can see that she is not the same person anymore he still thinks there’s some hope for her. I really thought he was intelligent enough but the way he confessed his love to her once again after going through her letters showed that he really wants to be with her because once again, it’s the guilt that is tearing him apart as he blames himself for wronging Rukhsana & bringing her to this point in life where she is wrecking people’s lives & has become so bitter & negative.

I really don’t get Sharafat & his idea of protecting his baby. I don’t think it takes a lot of intelligence for a normal man to know that whenever his wife is feeling sick, he should take her to the hospital. The whole tantrum that he threw at Samia for going to the hospital was cringe worthy. I think it would either be a miracle if his child would be born or he will learn it the hard way after losing his baby but honestly, to see so much stupidity from a person who got this happiness after quite a while is unrealistic. Right now, Sharafat’s main focus should be on Samia; his pregnant wife & his unborn but he thinks it a high time he should let her know what his ego means to him, which is bizarre.

I think deep down Samia has also started believing in what Saba has been telling her about Sharifa & Apa Ji, that is why she thought it was best for her to be at her mother’s home where she won’t be forced to eat & drink the things she doesn’t want to. Going by the rigidity that Sharafat shows, I am sure it would take a lot to convince him that Apa Ji isn’t such a saint that he thinks she is. Wajahat obviously is feeling bad for Saba but then I guess it serves him right that she is ignoring him, I am sure it will force him to take some desperate measures & probe about the whole situation on his own.

Overall, the drama is going strong & the actors have made it a treat to watch because all of them fit well in their characters seamlessly. Iffat Omar has done a wonderful job & so has everyone else especially the actor playing the character of Arshad Junior. Can’t wait to see what happens next. Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 20 & 21!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si were interesting too & revealed some more truths about Apa Ji which were absolutely shocking & sickening. I really am interested to see how the writer will bring justice to those who have been wronged by Apa Ji because right now she is in such a mode where she doesn’t see anything wrong in what she does & doesn’t even for a second feel guilty to be ruining so many lives which makes her the ultimate villain in the story!

I think it was very intelligent of Saba to arrange everything on her own once again to show it to Wajahat to make him believe in her. Even though I wasn’t sure about Arshad’s involvement in the matter but the way they linked their paths made it look very convincing. World can be small at times & that is why, Taufeeq fell for Arshad’s sister & Saba came to know about the CCTV Camera through the man responsible himself. Arshad also got his questions answered about Sharifa & Saba learned the truth about Apa Ji’s low caliber. I really believe Saba should’ve understood by now that Apa Ji is not an easy contender to bring down, therefore without giving any hints to her she should’ve told Wajahat about what she found out. I think the time Saba took between threatening Apa Ji & waiting for Wajahat gave Rukhsana the edge to come up with a new plan & brew a storm in Saba’s life & oh, the victory dance that she did later was hilarious.

To be honest, it was shocking to know that Apa Ji crossed all boundaries & limits just because she was in love with Arshad. I think this has always been her problem that whenever she loved someone, she didn’t care about the consequences at all. Apa Ji also loves Sidra & she would go through the pain to meet her every single night putting her image at stake but again, Sidra’s all that matters to her. This refreshed the point that I made in my review last week too that Apa Ji needs someone to channel out her affection at as first it used to be Arshad, after him, it was Sidra & now when Arshad’s back, she promised she wouldn’t meet Sidra again. I think it was quite evil of her to get Arshad involved in her family politics. This brings me to Bee Jaan’s notion of how Rukhsana would be the one who would ruin everything in her life because of her own self. Rukhsana is living in a fool’s paradise if she thinks she can make Arshad feel bad for her miserable life by exposing him to these petty issues in her life.

Witnessing Rukhsana’s evilness served as an eye-opener for Arshad because the things he later said to his wife made it look like he regretted making a promise to Rukhsana. I am sure Arshad could have never imagined how bitter she has become & to see it all himself shocked him too. I am sure Arshad is also going to be the one who would testify in favour of Saba because he wouldn’t allow the guilt to destroy the peace of his mind. Arshad did seem eager to earn her apology & that is why he made a promise to her but now I am sure it wouldn’t take him long to back out because he can see that Rukhsana’s up for no good & she is deceiving her own brothers. I am sure Arshad would soon understand that she is not the same person he loved before & she has come a long way in her hatred that she has no turning back, which will compel him to cut ties with her once again leaving Rukhsana empty-handed once again!

Honestly, as much as I do understand that Saba’s keen on making Wajahat understand & getting him introduced to the real face of Rukhsana, as much as I also am with her in this battle, I really think she should do it without the motive of winning Wajahat over because he is not worth it. It has happened multiple times that Wajahat didn’t stand by his wife & made her face the brunt for being the one who is questioning Apa Ji every step of the way. It’s the same Wajahat right, who took a stand & fought with everyone for the sake of getting married to Saba, so now when she has become his wife, why is he taking her for granted? I really don’t understand why does he put Apa Ji ahead of Saba? Yes, he loves his sister & respects her the most but I think he needs to have a balance in his life & if he can’t have it & loves being in his own Lala-land built upon the bed of misunderstandings then he for sure is not worth it. It was sad to see Saba being blamed for the things she had no idea of. At least Saba is trying to talk about the things that do exist & are a part of Rukhsana’s life & personality but the way Rukhsana comes up with one lie after another seamlessly makes me feel she should really have a very tragic ending.

I am not too sure what to make of Sharafat & Samia’s track. I really think if they will lose their baby it would only be because of Sharafat & his blind shareef belief on Apa Ji & her dam darood. I accept that couple for being simpletons & slow but that doesn’t mean Sharafat has to defy the basic logic & need of doctors & medication every time Samia’s not feeling well. Honestly, when I think about how Apa Ji has succeeded in fooling her brothers through all these years, it seems unrealistic because it’s a known fact that boys have all nighters when they’re studying & also if someone listens to songs that too in the middle of the night when there’s hardly any noise outside, boys do tend to notice. I really now think the mental state & attention span of both Wajahat & Sharafat is questionable because respecting someone is one thing but being blinded by someone so much that you can’t put two & two together is another.

The preview of the next episode didn’t give away much but I am sure Arshad is going to play his game. Oh, the way Apa Ji helped Sharifa in mending her broken ties with Arshad went to show that if there’s someone that Apa Ji feels bad for & loves is Sharifa because she has been with Apa Ji for a long long time. I think Sharifa will get deceived too because Arshad doesn’t seem that serious about her. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si.
