Do Kinaray – Momina Iqbal’s Styling As Dureshehwar The Ultimate Winner

Do Kinaray is a drama currently airing on Green TV. The drama is a typical story about a girl whose ego has destroyed many households. Momina Iqbal plays the toxic Dureshehwar and she has carried this role really well. She has showcased the toxicity of Dureshehwar brilliantly on screen. She has maintained her character from the very start of the show till now and her performance is phenomenal.

Do Current Issue-Based Pakistani Dramas Fit The Bill

Pakistani dramas makers and producers have for the longest time tried to maintain a balance between dramas that solely entertain and those that educate at the same time. It won’t be wrong to say that most Pakistani dramas in some way do highlight certain social issues. Some of these dramas revolve around pressures and evils within the society; others highlight issues that are faced by individuals with regards to their relationships. There was a time when such dramas were focused on a single issue. Nowadays, writers try to focus on more than one issue. Sometimes they manage to get the message across in the most befitting manner and at other times these dramas simply fail to impress altogether.

The Promotional Strategies

With the advent of social media and due to the fact that there is so much competition between the channels, promotional strategies do play a key role in piquing the interest of the viewers. Interestingly enough, some of the current issue-based dramas or those dramas which are genuinely raising certain important issues were not promoted as such. There are also those which were not promoted in a manner that wouldn’t have enticed the viewers. Only those viewers who follow the celebrities diligently were able to watch these dramas and later on they gained some popularity due to their genuine appeal. These dramas did not get the kind of ‘marketing’ that they truly deserved. Then there were those production houses that created controversies on purpose in order to grab the attention of the viewers.

Drama serials such as Pehli Si Mohabbat, Raqs-e-Bismil, and even Neeli Zinda Hei fall in the category of dramas that were promoted as romantic/horror stories yet they do raise definite social issues. Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin is one of those dramas which were not promoted in a befitting manner. Also, the fact that it was airing on TV One affected its viewership. The star cast was the most appealing aspect for those viewers who do not have a lot of knowledge about the writers and production houses, in general. Even the active social media users were not given reason enough by the promoters to tune into the drama. Pardes was another such drama that highlights such a vital social issue yet it was promoted more as a drama that had Shaista Lodhi and Sarmad Khoosat playing the lead instead of a drama that was going to have a social impact. The content of the drama was definitely more important than the fact that Shaista and Sarmad were sharing the screen in this drama! Drama serials such as Dunk and Phaans were promoted as issue-based dramas. Dunk makers also relied heavily on controversy and sensationalized headlines for grabbing the attention of the viewers.

Commercial Dramas vs. Issue-Based Dramas

There is no denying the fact that the commercial storylines are usually more popular among the general public therefore at times promoting a drama that might have significant social impact might be promoted as a ‘commercial’ drama. Pehli Si Mohabbat and Pardes are two such examples from recent dramas. Sometimes, the viewers are more interested in the star cast and therefore are more likely to tune into a drama that has a more commercial element to it. Most of the viewers want to be ‘entertained’ when they switch on the television therefore a drama that is reality-based might not be their first preference. There are definitely those viewers as well who understand that a good quality drama is a combination of both therefore many such dramas do get popularity once they go on air.

Current Issue-Based Dramas

More than ever now, the dramas airing leading channels do focus on issues that impact society in some way. Many of the dramas highlight social evils such as rape and domestic abuse. There are others that break this cycle and highlight certain issues which are not highlighted often in dramas. Here is a look at some of the dramas which are raising important issues but in different ways. Some of them are succeeding and others are simply ‘using’ these issues to grab people’s attention. Others are simply failing at it because of the lack of quality content.

Pehli Si Mohabbat – Questioning ‘Arranged’ Marriages

Pehli Si Mohabbat is one of those dramas that were promoted as a filmy love story. Maya Ali and Sheheryar Munawar’s first on-screen appearance on the small screen was presented as the main attraction for the viewers perhaps because the makers were convinced that the viewers will find that more appealing than the actual content. However, it was the content of the show that ended up being its strongest element. Pehli Si Mohabbat questions ‘arranged’ marriages which are most of the time forced marriages yet they are glorified in such a manner that no one ever questions them! The writer has done outstandingly well in raising an issue that isn’t even considered an issue. This drama has proven to be a breath of fresh air since it has been breaking so many stereotypes. Pehli Si Mohabbat definitely fits the bill because it has so much more than just star power! The star power, the melodious OST, and the production values make Pehli Si Mohabbat a pleasant meaningful entertainment.

Raqs-e-Bismil – Highlighting Class Divide

Raqs-e-Bismil is another drama that was never promoted as a drama that will highlight social issues. Yet, the premise of the entire story lies on the class divide; the way people from certain families feel that they are superior to others. Then there are women such as Zohra who never get respect because they were born and raised in circumstances that did not allow her to make the kind of choices she would have liked to. The writer has beautifully integrated the concept of not judging people based on their background into a love story. There will probably be more surprises in store in the upcoming episodes. The drama did go off track more than once therefore the message sometimes does get lost and at other times it is highly repetitive. Overall, Raqs-e-Bismil can be labeled as a drama that highlights an important societal issue yet the multiple tracks do tend to be distracting at times.

Pardes – Struggles of Overseas Workers & Families

Pardes has turned out to be an outstanding drama based on a novel idea. Pakistani dramas usually do not focus on the problems faced by Pakistanis working overseas and most importantly we are never shown what their immediate families actually go through. Daldal did tackle the issue but it had a different storyline altogether. Pardes is more focused on the exploitation of the male members who provide for their families and the sacrifices their immediate family has to make as a result. Pardes grows on you gradually and when you think that the story might be getting typical, something happens to prove you wrong. So far, Pardes has definitely been fitting the bill because the emotional and realistic element of the drama couldn’t have been more impactful.

Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin – All-Encompassing

Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin’s producers and the channels airing it did not do justice to it while promoting it. There was barely any hype surrounding the drama and even when it went on air many people did not even know! Since this drama aired on two different channels including PTV it was definitely surprising that the promotions were so unimpressive. However, it was the star cast that made the viewers tune into it, and ultimately the writing and direction completely pulled the viewers in. Unfortunately, when compared to many other commercial dramas, Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin is still lagging behind but when it comes to doing justice to the issues it has raised, this drama fits the bill like no other! Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin is one of those few dramas which deal with so many different societal issues at the same time and the writer has made sure that every weakness of the social fabric is highlighted through different tracks. This drama however can get so dark at times that some of the viewers find it extremely disturbing. But this also proves that the writer, director, and the actors have done their job right! Had the producers promoted it the way they promote commercial drama serials, it would have been watched and noticed even more.

Aakhir Kab Tak – Exploitation and Abuse

Aakhir Kab Tak is another drama that raises the issue of exploitation of women and rape. Unfortunately, our producers have started using rape as a tool to get the public’s attention therefore every other drama has such a track. However, Aakhir Kab Tak shows another side of such criminal acts and one which has not been highlighted in any other drama so far. I have watched a few episodes of the drama and I must say that so far it seems to be heavily inspired by Dar Si Jati Hei Sila and even Mein Na Janoo but the solid characters keep it engaging. The script isn’t too impressive but at the same time, it is not as commercial and meaningless as some of the other such dramas.

Do Current Issue-Based Pakistani Dramas Fit The Bill

Dunk – Focus on Commercialism

Dunk is one of those dramas that actually deals with a really serious issue yet the producers never had a serious approach right from the get-go. The entire focus was on getting the public’s attention by statements that created controversy. The script is also highly commercial and the treatment given to the drama is even more so. Dunk could have been a groundbreaking drama serial had the producers focused on the actual content. The leading lady definitely has a mental disorder yet that part of her personality will perhaps never be scrutinized. It definitely does not fit the bill and will always be remembered as a missed opportunity.

Do Current Issue-Based Pakistani Dramas Fit The Bill

Phaans – Repetitive & Misleading

Phaans was promoted as a mystery drama and yes it is that, sometimes to an annoying extent. However, the leading character of the drama either has some mental disorder or a disability which just like always has not been specified. In the drama serial Pyar Ke Sadqay, I never really felt that I actually needed to know why Abdullah and Mahjabeen were not like other people their age but while watching Phaans I feel the need to know more about Sahil since he is the ‘criminal’. Since the story has been far from impressive so far, there is little hope that the viewers will get to know the real reason why he raped and what is wrong with him! It is unfortunate that mental health and disorders are used in this manner by the writers for putting together mysteries that are more annoying than intriguing. Although this drama was never promoted as an issue-based drama, there are a number of reasons why it does fall in the category and it has failed in so many departments.

Neeli Zinda Hei – On Point So Far

Neeli Zinda Hei is essentially a horror drama but I do feel that the writer has highlighted how the fake peers run their businesses by taking advantage of women who are jealous and envious of their own relatives. This is another evil that is unfortunately rampant in our society and I find this track reflective of many affluent and even educated women who go down this path. So far, the jealousy, madness, and the need for control have been highlighted in such a way that they will give people an opportunity to self-reflect and it does raise awareness since the fakeness has been shown so openly.

It is a serious issue and should not be used for ‘entertainment’ purposes. Are there any other issue-based dramas that you feel fit the bill or those that have missed the mark? Share your views!

Do Bol Last Episode Story Review – Magical Journey

Opening Thoughts – Wanted To See More of The Lead Couple:

Ohkay so, Do Bol came to an end tonight. To be honest, if I go by the entire journey that this drama has been, then I will definitely say I have loved every bit of it but sadly, I wish I could say that about the last episode of Do Bol as well. The ending was cramped up to say the least & as much as all the viewers who loved Badar & Gaiti duo wanted to see more of them as a happily married couple, I am sure just like me they all would be feeling a tad bit disappointed!

Supporting Characters Got The Coverage:

It is a sad fact that our drama-makers & directors do not know how to give any drama a strong finish. Do Bol has been such a simple journey & even though it is understandable that they were saving some of the twists & turns for the last, I think they should have used like previous 4 episodes to show all these twists only to dedicate the last 2 episodes for Gaiti & Badar’s relationship. I don’t really understand why our drama-makers think that they have to & they should give closure to alllllllllllllll the tracks in the last episode only? Why not use the previous couple of episodes to take care of the side characters so that the focus of the final episode can remain on the main characters? I really am happy to see the happy ending that both Gaiti & Badar got, like it was pretty much expected but then I also wished to see more & certainly didn’t expect that the 99.99% of the last episode will be dedicated to the supporting characters ONLY, sigh!

I have seen quite a few annoying characters in my reviewing career, but I will definitely place Sameer on the 2nd spot of that list. 1st one still belongs to Zawar/Awazar of Aahista Aahista (if you guys remember that sloth). So yes, Sameer turned out to be more annoying than expected. I found his antics not only desperate but also unconvincing because Gaiti had already told him clearly that she had nothing to do with him, but oh boy, he not only barged into Badar’s house but also challenged him that he won’t leave Gaiti alone till he marries her? Wow! After that challenge I thought he won’t stop but he vanished into thin-air like Sameer hawa ka jhonka.

Do Bol Last Episode Story Review - Magical Journey

The only thing I found interesting in this episode was that the writer didn’t give Badar a clean chit, rather his secret was revealed in front of Gaiti & she found out how he had manipulated the entire situation in his favor. It was good that Badar was forced to admit that all the things he said about Gaiti were because he was being selfish. Badar was forced to realize his mistake & if it wasn’t for Sameer hawa ka jhonka, Badar would’ve never told Gaiti the truth.

For a moment, I felt Jahan Ara’s soul possessed Iqbal’s body & that is why he repeated all those words about finding Gaiti her happiness in the form of getting her divorced from Badar. It was a bit amusing to be honest that everyone saw Badar as the main reason behind Gaiti’s sadness & the moment they realized it, they hurried in doing everything to end this relationship. It was good that Gaiti not only made the decision but also let everyone know with finality that she didn’t want to part ways with Badar.

The tracks that they could’ve given closure to in the 2nd or 3rd last episode were Firdous & her theft, Jamshed & his arrest & revealing of Fareeha’s lies & deceit. All these tracks took too much of a time which left me feeling restless because all this while I was checking the remaining time of the episode & hoping to see more of Badar & Gaiti. The start of the episode was strong where Sameer challenged Badar but after that, the supporting characters came to the fore-front & took most of the runtime that too of the crucial last episode. After Gaiti ran away when she heard the truth from Badar, Sameer was nowhere to be seen in the remaining episode, hence proven that Sameer hawa ka jhonka. Yes, where did Sameer go? To Germany or Chullu Bhar Pani? I thought he’d later apologize to everyone especially Gaiti & her entire family for putting them through so much, but in stead of showing that, the director shifted the focus to Fareeha’s poorly cut fringe/bangs & her ill-fitted dresses. Even though I am really sad that I won’t be getting to see Badar & Gaiti again, a part of me is super happy that I won’t be seeing this fashion/makeup/beauty disaster called Fareeha!

Highlight of The Last Episode:

So, Badar poured his heart out & Gaiti was listening. That entire scene was just so sweet. Gaiti had fallen in love with Badar long before all of this happened. It was after she spent time with Badar that she got to realize how much he loved her & it was his love that convinced Gaiti & made her fall in love with Badar too. Gaiti was someone who didn’t really get the love she deserved, therefore the fate made her experience the kind of love she never could’ve imagined where the one who loved her didn’t want to lose her. He loved her selfishly before as well as selflessly after getting her. This entire aspect of Badar’s personality was shown beautifully that he had this streak in him but it was only because he feared losing the love of his life & this selfishness didn’t define Badar as a person. I found this to be the best & realistic part about Badar’s character that he was nice but still committed a mistake as his fear of losing Gaiti got the better of him. Gaiti tried hard to not fall in love with Badar but she couldn’t help it & it was good that their love stood the trials & tribulations because it made them realize that they couldn’t live without each other even more.

Do Bol Last Episode Story Review - Magical Journey

Closing Thoughts – Magical Journey:

The journey of Do Bol was simple & sweet with emotions portrayed to perfection. Even though the story of Do Bol was pretty straight forward & predictable, the overall treatment & execution took it a couple of notches higher & turned it into a memorable drama. The beautiful & melodious OST also helped in adding more charm to the story because every single time it was used, it just added more beauty to the situation. Hira Mani was the star of the drama. She stole the show completely. Hira Mani should take a bow for such a brilliant performance. Her talent is unmatchable & she is the kind of actress who actually makes you excited & look forward to her next project. Affan Waheed was a perfect choice for the role of Badar, he portrayed all the hues of Badar’s personality flawlessly. Samina Ahmed, Mehmood Aslam, ZQ, Salma Hassan, Haris Waheed, Haroon Rasheed & all the other actors played their parts well & contributed a great deal in making this drama a complete package.

As I have said before, dramas like Do Bol set an example that simple stories can create magic too, it’s just that they just need the right kind of treatment & the director’s vision. The director should also take a bow for creating magic on our screens, I just wish he had given us more Gaiti-Badar moments in the last episode. Sarwat Nazeer is such a gifted writer & her prowess of adding so many flavors in simplest of stories is commendable. Do Bol will remain very close to my heart, also because it happens to be my mother’s favorite drama too. Thank you Team Do Bol for such a successful drama. More power to you!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Do Bol Episode 9 & 10 Story Review – Simple & Sweet Drama

Opening Thoughts – Realistic & Simple:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was super sweet. The fact that everything has been conveyed in simplest manner makes this drama a treat to tune to. There’s nothing overly dramatic or unrealistic about the story, in fact it just simply shows how two individuals who are poles apart are struggling in their orbits. The thing that is the most appealing about Do Bol to me has to be the simple treatment that this drama has got.

Badar Walking An Extra Mile For Gaiti:

Badar decided to go ahead & give Gaiti what she wanted; an outlet, a freedom to go where she wanted. Even though Badar doesn’t want to leave Gaiti but he has seen how unhappy she has been, therefore he doesn’t think it is sensible to prevent her or talk her out of what she has set her mind to. Gaiti continued to learn more & more about Badar’s household & his family, even though she has stayed unaffected & hasn’t involved herself in any of their matters, but still she is not unaware of what is happening around her. Gaiti can clearly see that Rania is not happy with her, that is why she tried finding the reason behind it too.

This episode once again highlighted how despite being calm & collected, Badar kept on losing patience with Gaiti. Just like Gaiti has her own set of struggles, Badar has it too. Gaiti is only thinking about her own issues but when it comes to Badar, he is not only aware of how miserable Gaiti is, he is aware of the fact that Gaiti is feeling that way because of him & that makes him even more guilty. Gaiti’s bitterness & her behaviour constantly remind Badar that he is no match to her & she deserves something/someone better, may be that is why despite not wanting to he finds it in his heart to let go off her.

Gaiti & Badar travelled together, all the way to Karachi to meet Jahan Ara, only to find out that she was not in Pakistan. Badar saved Gaiti & made sure she was well-fed & well-rested. Probably this little time spent together made Gaiti feel a little comfortable around Badar & also forced her to have some empathy for him. Gaiti could see that Badar was going out of the way to make sure she gets what she wants but then she was so focused on getting in touch with her mother that she couldn’t give a thought to how Badar was feeling & what he was going through.

In this episode of Do Bol, what I loved the most was how Badar kept on sharing his feelings with Gaiti & even though he knew she didn’t want to hear all of that, he kept on telling her what she meant to him. Badar told her that he loved her, that he was heartbroken because she was leaving & also how he dreamt of giving her a comfortable house & life. It was all very sweet. For Gaiti this relationship does not mean anything for now, but her hesitance did show that she was kind of feeling awkward for what she was putting Badar through. May be she has started feeling some compassion for him after seeing how nice & genteel he is.

Iqbal got to see Gaiti with Badar & for the first time, his emotions were given coverage. Previously it was always anger & fury that Iqbal had for Gaiti but for the first time he was disturbed like a father should be for his daughter who is not living in a favourable condition. Nafeesa continued making efforts to get in touch with Gaiti but she knew that Gaiti was still upset & she wouldn’t talk. Nafeesa has spent a good chunk of her life with Gaiti therefore she knows her too well, that is why she didn’t really mind when Gaiti refused to come on the phone. Fareeha made sure that Sameer forgets about Gaiti, that is why she kept on lying to him about Gaiti & her character. Since this entire scenario is done & dusted, I won’t be too surprised if Sameer moves on because that’s the only option left but yes, it is unfortunate that he is being lied to so that he forgets Gaiti.

Firdous saw that Iqbal was upset because of Gaiti, like she could see that he was kind of feeling bad for her, that is why she created an entire scene against Neelam going to college, that way she landed herself a chance to rub Gaiti’s wrongdoing on Iqbal’s face, so that he snaps out of any sympathy that he might have felt for her. This is what Firdous had done in the past by using Jahan Ara’s name & now she replaced her with Gaiti. I really liked how Nasreen took a stand for Neelam & gave Firdous a piece of her mind. She is not as helpless as Nafeesa plus she knows that even if her husband Munawwar listens to his siblings, she is not bound to especially in the matters concerning her daughter.

Closing Thoughts – Sweet Drama:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was simple & sweet. It sure is turning out to be a very nice drama to tune to. The preview of the next episode did show the change in Badar & Gaiti’s equation plus an entry of the villain Jamshed who happens to be Badar’s cousin & that is definitely going to spice things up. The direction of Do Bol as well as the acting of all the actors has been superb. Still loving the usage of the OST. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 7 & 8 Story Review – Treat To Watch

Opening Thoughts – Insight Into The Characters:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was comparatively on the slower side but that was because they strategically showed the initial very crucial couple of days after Gaiti & Badar’s marriage. This episode dwelled more into details of the situation that both the families were faced with & the insight into all the characters that were involved. It was a well-made & well-executed episode & I can’t wait to see how the relationship between Badar & Gaiti will blossom.

Gaiti Is Resenting While Badar Is Trying:

Gaiti was pretty sure that she didn’t want to live here & that she wanted to go to Karachi to be with her biological mother. Badar was also having a hard time understanding how things were going to shape up but then his friend Lateef tried to put things into perspective. What I really liked about this entire situation was that the writer didn’t show Badar being in control of everything, from his emotions to having a complete idea of what he should be doing. Badar is a flawed character too & that is the beauty of this drama that is relies on showing every character in a realistic manner. Badar was not only unsure but he was also feeling guilty but then Lateef tried to make him understand all the things he needed to do. Lateef’s best advice that came Badar’s way was that he should not try to get Gaiti but rather should do whatever it takes to win her over.

In this entire episode & during all the interactions that Gaiti & Badar had, it was really interesting how Gaiti was stuck on one page but Badar’s attitude was fluctuating, where at times he tried to break the ice by cracking some jokes, trying to make her laugh, at times he commanded her, trying to make her realize that he is her husband & he can do that & then at times being patient but then losing it too. Badar’s state of mind was elaborated flawlessly by the writer & both director & Affan Waheed excelled in making it come across clearly.

Gaiti was not bothered about anything & anyone. She stood her ground & even informed Badar’s family that she does not want to stay here. Qudsia was unsure of how she should be reacting, again at times she saw Gaiti as her daughter in law but then she also couldn’t contain herself from sharing her disappointment at how Badar & Gaiti got married. Badar may seem a bit slow but he surely is very wise & present-minded. The way Badar immediately turned everything against his Khala by saying that her attitude was what forced Gaiti to walk away & ignore her was very amusing, it shows that Badar will do what it takes to protect Gaiti from facing any unnecessary pressures. Another aspect that was covered brilliantly was how despite not wanting to Gaiti had a few conversations with Badar about him, his family & other random stuff. Obviously that wasn’t deliberate but it showed that Gaiti was not cutting herself off from the reality & was very much aware of whatever was happening in her surroundings.

I felt for Nafeesa a lot in this episode. Nafeesa was not only sad but seeing everyone being just so aloof to whatever happened with Gaiti also kept on reminding her that no one cared for her & her daughter was all alone. Nafeesa was the only one who was eager to see Gaiti just so that she could find out how she was doing. Iqbal asked Firdous about what he had done to deserve all this, I think in stead of asking others, he should ask himself as to where he went wrong. It is unfortunate that after years & years of mistreating Gaiti, he still doesn’t see where the problem lies. I am eager to know what Jahan Ara did & what was her reason of leaving Iqbal, they have really hyped it up so I guess its high time that they give us the actual explanation.

Firdous continued to plan & plot because she saw this as a golden opportunity to shape up Zafar’s future. Sameer met an accident & he was recovering, while feeling guilty for leaving Gaiti in such a position where she had to face all that. Badar does not want to, but every single time he ends up lying to Gaiti about Sameer making sure that she starts hating Sameer for betraying her. Badar does that but then immediately he regrets it all too. I think this is one of the biggest shortcoming of Badar where unwillingly but consciously he lies to Gaiti. Having said that, I will definitely say that I like how the writer has shown Badar’s character as a little selfish, like every person has that streak & Badar is selfish too but what balances it out is the fact that he immediately feels guilty when he does something wrong. I think this is only because he is insecure & has loved Gaiti with all his heart. Badar knows that Gaiti does not love him, that is why he sometimes does things like these to push Sameer out of Gaiti’s heart only to make a place for himself. I think later when Gaiti will start to feel the love Badar has for her, she will also have some influence on him & this shortcoming of Badar will be sorted as he will try to be a better version of himself for Gaiti. Badar’s insecurities will subside when Gaiti will start loving him too. I like how the writer has added these minute details in all these characters which is quite interesting to explore.

Closing Thoughts – A Treat To Watch:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was really nice. It was good to see two different people trying to figure a way out, where one wanted to run away & the other one was trying to find a solution to make this marriage work. Affan Waheed was the star of this episode, he flawlessly portrayed all the shades of Badar’s personality & this character is so well-written too. Those minute expressions & sudden change in Badar’s attitude within few seconds was some exceptional work done there by Affan Waheed. It is kind of random but I am not sure who decided the look for Badar’s character & styled him? The hybrid of Kurti/Kameez-Chooridaar/Trouser that Badar wears is so unflattering plus the fact that it is so tight that even the seams of his vest are always visible makes it all very unflattering like I said. I do understand that they have tried to show him as a guy belonging to a humble background so for that matter good old simple Shalwar Kameez would’ve done a perfect job too. Also, the length of his Kurti/Kameez is so awkward too & yes I am deliberately calling it a Kurti & not a Kurta, lol. Anyways, Affan Waheed acted brilliantly in this episode & I can’t wait to see more of Badar’s character. Hira Mani did exceptionally well too, I am really happy with the leading duo, they sre going to make this drama a treat to watch. The OST is my recent favorite too. Looking forward to the rest of the drama. please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 5 & 6 – Simple Story Done Right

Opening Thoughts – Simple Story Done Right:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was intense but still showed events unfolding in the most simplest of manner. This is what I like about Do Bol, even though it has its fair share of dramatic moments, the overall feel of the story, characters, events & situations remains simple, real & very relatable. Do Bol is definitely turning out to be such a drama that I look forward to & I am happy about that!

Badar Got The Love of His Life:

I really like Gaiti’s character, even though things are always not in her favor but she doesn’t let it stop her. Before doing anything, Gaiti still decided to speak to her father, assuming that he’d care & listen to what she wanted. Gaiti also knew that Iqbal will not pay heed to her feelings but she still gave it a try. I like her persistent attitude. When Gaiti felt that Iqbal was going to get her married to Zafar by hook or by crook, she decided to get in touch with her mother Jahan Ara because Gaiti felt that she was the only one who could help her.

Nafeesa has always spoken about Jahan Ara with a lot of regard. It is like Nafeesa does not blame Jahan Ara for choosing to part ways with Iqbal, more or less sounding like she understands her perspective & that actually makes me want to know more about her. Iqbal & his entire family has always spoken against Jahan Ara but Nafeesa hasn’t, which kind of makes one wonder that she might not be as bad as Iqbal & Co. make her look like. What Gaiti did by taking matters in her own hands was only because of Iqbal. His careless & cold attitude towards his daughter made her do what she did. Gaiti has grown up facing rejection of her father that is why, now when she felt that he was literally snatching her life away from her, she decided to do something about it. Yes, all of this definitely was because she loved Sameer but apart from that, Zafar was definitely not an ideal guy that any girl would want to get married to, therefore pushing Gaiti to resort to running away. Gaiti tried to convey it to Iqbal but he was too engulfed in the love of his sister & nephew that he couldn’t care much about Gaiti.

Whatever Sameer went through was very realistic, at times when things are not meant to be, they just don’t happen even if it is the simplest of things & that is why he couldn’t meet Gaiti at the time they both had decided. Sameer was also getting pressurized by his mother but still it was good to see him being adamant to be with Gaiti. Gaiti kept on stopping Sameer but then even Sameer couldn’t really approach Iqbal through a proper channel because he didn’t have any support of his mother. If Safina had at least spoken to Iqbal once, things wouldn’t have taken such an ugly turn.

In this entire situation, it was interesting to see how Badar kept on reminding Gaiti that he loved her & that Sameer was never going to come. Even through that wasn’t the case but it actually turned out to be true because in this situation, trust was the main factor & even though Gaiti trusted Sameer & Sameer wasn’t deceiving her, Badar ended up being right because Sameer didn’t show up. One thing led to another & everything escalated in the worst manner, something that Gaiti must’ve not imagined in her wildest dreams.

Gaiti was brought in front of Iqbal but still, she didn’t choose to stay silent as she once again tried convincing her father that he should trust her. Iqbal who already was emotionally detached from Gaiti paid heed to others more than what his daughter wanted to say. That entire situation depicted Gaiti’s frustration, helplessness & anger perfectly; she was crying to be heard but no one was listening to her. I liked how Badar tried to tell the truth but then again, it wasn’t meant to be.

Badar & Gaiti got married & that marked the beginning of new phase of Badar’s life & new test for Gaiti. I felt for Gaiti a lot, she is someone who has never really experienced what the love of a father is & how it feels being valued & cherished. She has always seen herself being an afterthought; an emotional burden on Iqbal, that is why as much as it was hard for her to accept what happened, it was very easy for her to sever ties with all of them because they didn’t understand her when she wanted them to, the most. I felt bad that Gaiti lost her mother again, Nafeesa loved Gaiti like her own child & that bond was broken that too because of Iqbal. Nafeesa’s outburst was heartbreaking, she genuinely felt for Gaiti & could see how unfair Iqbal was in dealing with her. Another aspect that was uncovered in this episode of Do Bol was Firdous’ greed, the moment she found out that Jahan Ara had the ownership of the property & without her consent, Zafar will not get anything, she immediately changed her mind but obviously, put the entire blame on Gaiti to make herself look innocent.

I love Gaiti’s character. Even though she has had a tough life where she never felt valued, she has found out a way to fight her battles herself. Iqbal has done everything to lower her self-esteem & shatter her confidence but despite all of that, Gaiti knows how to stand up for herself. Usually in such a setting when things are never in your favor, no one musters up the courage to make their own decisions but Gaiti is not like that, she has turned her weakness into strength, is rightfully opinionated & doesn’t settle for whatever comes her way just like that.

Closing Thoughts – Perfection:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was really well directed & everything was perfectly done. Be it smallest of details, all of them were taken care of & that completed the entire picture in a very effortless manner. I loved how when both Badar & Gauti got married & were sitting together in a taxi, unconsciously their outfits were color co-ordinated, making them look like a couple right from that moment onwards. Now the love story will begin where Badar will prove his love to Gaiti & she will actually get to know him. Do Bol has Sarwat Nazeer written all over it, it is amazing how she picks up simplest of scenarios & turns them into something magical. I can’t wait for the rest of the story to unfold. Hira Mani is outstanding in this drama, I have liked her since Preet Na Kariyo Koi days & it is good to see how she has come a long way & chooses her projects wisely. The OST of Do Bol is melodic & very nice. Looking forward to the rest of the journey. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 3 & 4 Story Review – Feel Good Drama

Opening Thoughts – Feel Good Drama:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol took the story forward in a convincing manner. So far, it can be said that the story of this drama is going to be pretty simple but this is what the beauty of Sarwar Nazeer’s writing is that she takes simplest of plots & gives them a whole new meaning. I am sure Do Bol is going to turn into such a drama that will only have good things to offer.

Gaiti Stands Up For Herself Against All Odds:

Gaiti was convinced that Sameer loved her. Sameer had said enough to let Gaiti know that he wanted to marry her & undoubtedly, his intentions were pure. Sameer is someone who has loved Gaiti since they were kids, therefore it made it very easy for Gaiti to believe him & even she found this idea of love very tempting. Gaiti has lived her life without the love of her father, a male figure that happens to be the most important person in a daughter’s life, that is why, this kind of attention & care coming from Sameer was enough to sweep her off her feet. Unfortunately, little did Gaiti know that as much as she’d try chasing this dream, she will keep on falling in a bottomless pit. One thing happened after another which made things complicated & grew Gaiti distant from Sameer.

Iqbal, who doesn’t really care much for Gaiti thought that just to mend Firdous Apa’s broken heart, he had to compensate & marry Zafar to Gaiti. The kind of father Iqbal is, who sees his daughter as a burden, he didn’t even think for a second that Gaiti is not a child anymore & she has feelings & most importantly the right to choose her life partner. Iqbal has only dictated Gaiti, probably because he could not dictate his first wife, therefore he makes Gaiti compensate for that & because of that reason he chose Zafar for Gaiti, while completely ignoring the kind of guy he is.

In this episode, I found Firdous Apa’s character quite interesting, like I had a good time understanding her & how her mind works. Firdous Apa doesn’t like Gaiti one bit but she knows that Zafar likes her so she agreed to this marriage but it was interesting to see how she made it seem that she was doing Iqbal a huge favor because she feels for him. Not only that, Firdous Apa has made sure that Iqbal does not forget about Jahan Ara, probably because she knows that it riles him up & he kind of loses his sense of judgment without it being clouded with negativity. While taking about Gaiti & Zafar’s marriage, Firdous used Jahan Ara’s name to paint a picture in front of Iqbal that Gaiti takes after her mother & because she has refused to get married to Zafar, there’s no guarantee that she won’t leave him after the marriage, exactly how Jahan Ara left Iqbal. Not only that, Firdous hit the bullseyes because it compelled Iqbal to do some thinking & then she put forth her demands too which was to make sure Zafar gets financial security as a reward for this marriage. No wonder why in this household despite the fact that both her brothers are married & have opinionated wives, Firdous Apa has succeeded in having full control over both Iqbal & Munawwar, especially Iqbal.

Badar tried to sabotage Sameer & Gaiti’s relationship. Who would’ve thought that someone who looks so harmless could actually say something like this to malign Sameer’s heart against Gaiti. At first I thought what Badar did was a sheer display or cowardice but later when he regretted & then confessed his feelings to Gaiti, it made me change my mind. Badar knows that he does not stand a chance whatsoever, plus he saw how Gaiti was in love with Sameer but still he decided to let her know what he feels for her, which is something that a coward would never do. Badar genuinely loves her, even thought Gaiti has not done anything for him to feel that way, she insults him, she thinks of him as a nobody but still Badar loves her & wanted to let her know that.

I really like Nafeesa’s character, she is the only voice of reason in Gaiti’s life as well as that entire house. Munawwar did seem a little disappointed that Iqbal was marrying Gaiti off to Zafar but he chose to stay silent because he has saved his daughter so he decided to not interfere in Iqbal’s affair. Munawwar does respect Firdous Apa a lot but when it comes to his family, he doesn’t let her rule him which actually is wise of him. Munawwar also has a regard for his wife which unfortunately Iqbal doesn’t. It seems Iqbal thinks that the only woman worthy of his respect is his sister Firdous because she has painted this image of herself in front of him. I liked how Gaiti decided to do something & she didn’t just sit still, yes, she did get caught but at least she took a stand for herself by openly refusing to get married to Zafar. I really like how Gaiti’s character is turning out to be, she knows that things are never in her favor, yet she doesn’t shy away from doing what her heart desires. It was unfortunate that Fareeha put a bad word about Gaiti in front of Safina, who already wasn’t too convinced with Sameer’s choice. Also, it was nicely balanced that it wasn’t only Gaiti who was trying to do something about this situation, Sameer was equally active & involved, which showed that he was eager too.

Closing Thoughts – Very Impressive:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was really nice & I had a great time watching it. I like how it has such a good & warm vibe, even though this drama does showcase family politics but the best part is that the negativity isn’t too overpowering. The direction is flawless & all the actors have done a wonderful job. Hira Mani looks ravishing & I think she hasn’t looked this good in any of her previous dramas, the director really has captured her beauty perfectly. I think Hira Mani shows that an actress can look beautiful in lesser makeup, yes her hairstyling does seem a bit too well put together for an ordinary girl but her makeup is perfect. The OST is perfect too & the editors have really used it meticulously. All the other actors have contributed in making this drama complete. Really impressed & looking forward to the next episode which promises a lot more drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 27 & 28 Story Review – Family Politics

Opening Thoughts – Family Politics:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol focused more on all the family members & their politics, so much so that it didn’t offer anything new but it does not undermine the fact that it still was an interesting episode to watch. I do wish they had kind of wrapped things up a bit in this episode because it seems they will give us a rushed ending now!

Side Characters Got A Screen-time:

Badar was suffering silently. He didn’t have the courage to confront Gaiti as he feared that she might say what he did not want to hear. Gaiti obviously had no idea what was wrong with Badar & she continued to do all that she promised him, that is staying by his side & doing everything that he loves.

Gaiti’s family has not only welcomed her back wholeheartedly, they are planning a reception for her & Badar too, which I think was very sweet. Seeing Iqbal being actively involved in the planning & giving Gaiti full freedom to choose the date was very sweet of him. Iqbal has changed & he is doing everything to let Gaiti know that she is loved. Nafeesa’s happiness seeing her entire family especially Iqbal & Gaiti happy is super sweet. She genuinely cared for both her husband & her daughter that is why out of all the people she is the happiest.

Zafar apologized to Iqbal only because Firdous said so, otherwise he has shown no remorse over what he has done. It was interesting to see how even Fareeha became confrontational with Firdous & showed her a mirror. Firdous still has not learnt her lesson & it is unfortunate that she still teaches Zafar to be manipulative only to attain financial gains from Iqbal. Firdous can not stand the fact that Badar has joined Iqbal & that Iqbal is on good terms with his only daughter. It was ironic that Firdous claimed Fareeha was selfish but she totally forgot that she herself is no less either!

Rania continued to make an issue to convince her family for Jamshed but Jamshed only manipulated Rania whereas he is not sincere with her. The entire scenario of Rania wanting to get married to Jamshed has been stretched like a rubber band & similarly, Sameer wanting to win Gaiti back is another such instance which is super annoying. I found it funny that without even listening to Gaiti, Sameer announced that he was coming to get her? How stupid is he? I swear I have seen quite a lot of annoying characters in Pakistani dramas but Sameer is a dheet of some other level. Fareeha is another good-for-nothing character who has wasted so much of resources to look ‘good’ but unfortunately, has failed miserably. An epic fail sorts!

Closing Thoughts – Coverage of Side Tracks:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was decent but definitely could have included such situations that actually mattered but then again, it is understandable that they had to give these supporting tracks a closure too so they addressed them all in this episode. However, I do dread that the final episode might give us a rushed ending. So far so good. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 25 & 26 Story Review – Brilliant Performances

Opening Thoughts – Sweet Moments:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol had a lot of offer – some sweet & some bitter moments. It is amazing how everything is falling into place & I can’t wait for the last episode tomorrow. In literal sense, Team Do Bol has proved that when simple stories are executed nicely, they make such beautiful dramas.

Iqbal Has Changed Completely:

Iqbal decided to welcome Gaiti & Badar back into his life. The credit for it definitely goes to Nafeesa because it was due to her patience & persistence that she succeeded in convincing Iqbal to change his mind & accept the fact that he could never stay on bad terms with his only daughter. Badar respected Iqbal’s wish & took Gaiti to see her entire family. That entire scene along with Gaiti & Iqbal’s heart to heart was so emotional & well-executed, but I chuckled seeing Firdous acting as a typical Pupho who could not see everyone happy. I also liked the way Nafeesa tackled Firdous in this entire situation where she just listened to her quietly & didn’t say much as she was well aware of the kind of attitude Firdous generally had towards her family. It is also quite interesting to see how despite knowing everything that Zafar has done, Firdous continues to test everyone to see if they still respect her or not.

Gaiti & Badar shared a few good moments together but then Jamshed who kept on blackmailing Gaiti ended up doing what he was threatening her about. Badar was already confused after all the things he had heard from Fareeha that is why he found it hard to ignore the evidence that Jamshed presented & the picture that he painted in front of Badar. To be honest, I don’t really get Fareeha’s character & her involvement in this entire matter. She dislikes Gaiti & doesn’t want her to settle with Sameer, that’s fine but the phone call that she made to Badar in order to warn him was uncalled for. It is too obvious that Fareeha has got no life of her own, she is faarigh in literal sense that is why she has picked up Gaiti as a subject of her time pass & that is why she can’t stop yapping about her. Fareeha’s attitude is exactly like her hairstyle & styling – TACKY!

Sameer has turned out to be an annoying character. It is amusing how he acts all genteel & decent but all the things that he does scream the opposite. It was good to know that Sameer did acknowledge it in front of Rameen that everything between him & Gaiti was over but not sure why is he going to call Gaiti as shown in the preview of the next episode. Badar tried really hard to ignore everything but the constant reminders from all the sides are definitely going to cloud his judgment for a while. I did like the fact that even after hearing all those bad things about Gaiti, Badar did not show any reaction to make Fareeha or Jamshed feel that he was believing them. Badar has kept everything to himself & is analysing the situation, let’s see what happens.

Closing Thoughts – Beautiful Performances:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was emotional & packed with beautiful performances. The father daughter scene acted beautifully by Mehmood Aslam & Hira Mani was the highlight of this episode. The preview of the next episode seems dramatic & it seems that they still have a lot to show, so I am eagerly waiting to see that. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 23 & 24 Story Review – Beautiful Drama

Opening Thoughts – Gaiti’s Perspective:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol focused more on the all the feelings & emotions that Gaiti was experiencing. The slow & steady change in Gaiti’s perspective & thought process has been shown beautifully in this drama & now this episode marked the defining moment of her relationship with Badar.

Gaiti Finally Admitted That She Loves Badar:

Gaiti did come back to Badar after being thrown out of Nafees’ place but still, all this while she was there, she could not take Badar out of her mind. Badar did think Gaiti came back because she had nowhere to go but he didn’t know that it was Gaiti’s love towards him that brought her back to his place. Badar did persuade Gaiti to come to a final conclusion because he wanted to do right by her. Ever since Gaiti left & he received those divorce papers, Badar has only doubted & questioned the integrity of this relationship. Badar knows that this relationship means a lot to him but despite that, he doesn’t want to prevent Gaiti from living the life she desires or dreams of. Badar started feeling that Gaiti came back only due to her helplessness & that is why he told her clearly that he will have no issues if she decides to leave.

Gaiti knew that she wanted to stay with Badar, she has fallen in love with him but till the time Badar made his intentions clear, she hadn’t addressed those feelings herself. Till date, Gaiti knew that Badar loved her but she herself did not admit that she also had feelings for him but then thanks to Sameer she was forced to think on those lines.

Sameer has now started to act like a spoiled brat who refuses to take no for an answer. I will admit that I like how the writer has shown Sameer to be a kind & harmless person & has only shown that the circumstances were never in his favour because of which he could not do what he wanted to in order to win Gaiti’s heart, but now his feelings have turned into an obsession which is a bit too much. Sameer knows that he has been misunderstood by Gaiti but only to find himself a chance of meeting her, he ended up pushing her to the limit where she was forced to confess that she was in love with Badar. Gaiti finally let Badar know that she was ready to spend the rest of her life with him & Badar could not believe it. That entire scene was nicely done.

On Iqbal’s side, he couldn’t cope up with the news of Jahan Ara’s demise, it broke & shattered him completely & may be that’s why, he decided to let go of any such ill feelings that he had towards anyone because Iqbal also learned that holding so much hatred & anger in his heart was doing no good to him or his family. May be that’s why Iqbal not only forgave Zafar but also found it in his heart to forgive & welcome Gaiti back in his life too. Nafeesa’s patience & persistence is commendable & I also love how both Nasreen & Nafeesa find the time to unwind & confide in each other. Nasreen at first did seem to be a little selfish but I like how they have shown her sharing such a healthy relationship with Nafeesa, where she feels for her a lot & always lends her emotional support too.

In last week’s episode of Do Bol, during Neelam’s rukhsati scene, they showed that Zafar attended the wedding but in this week’s episode, they suggested as if he brought home now for the first time that too after having him jailed. I found this to be a little glitch because last week there was a conversation too where Iqbal tells Munawwar to hurry up with Neelam’s wedding before Zafar’s issue is blown out of proportion & he causes more harm as by that time Zafar had already left for Malaysia supposedly. Anyways, Zafar came back but he didn’t feel ashamed at what he has done, in fact he vowed to destroy his own uncles because they exposed him. Firdous tried really hard to win her place back by playing the sympathy card but she is well aware of the fact that Zafar’s attitude will land her in deep trouble.

Jamshed filmed Gaiti’s final meeting with Sameer & on the other hand even Fareeha was trying to plant a seed of doubt in Badar’s heart against Gaiti too. It seems Gaiti will have to make some more effort in order to prove her love & purity of her intentions in front of Badar because the circumstances will state the otherwise.

Closing Thoughts – Beautiful Drama:

Overall, this episode like all the previous episodes of Do Bol was superb. I loved Hira Mani’s calm & composed acting as Gaiti. She made it obvious that despite the circumstances not being in her favour, she was at peace & was ready to take her life as it comes. It is commendable how such intricate & complex emotions have been conveyed by Hira Mani with such effortlessness. Affan Waheed & all the supporting actors have done a wonderful job too. The entire team of Do Bol should take a bow for creating & giving the viewers such a beautiful drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 21 & 22 Story Review – Slow But Interesting

Opening Thoughts – Slow But Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was pretty tragic & to some extent a bit slow too but I found it interesting how external factors were turning the entire situation in Gaiti & Badar’s favor.

The Closure:

Iqbal finally came to realize that he has spent a good chunk of his life harbouring negative feelings in his heart, that is why he now took a decision that he will let go of any such feelings as he himself was tired of holding so much of anger in his heart. Spending time away from Gaiti that too guilt-stricken has helped Iqbal a great deal in shifting his focus from the things that are unnecessary to those things or people that actually deserve his attention; first & foremost his wife Nafeesa & his daughter Gaiti. It was interesting to see how Iqbal didn’t pay heed to whatever Firdous said. Everything that Zafar has done to Iqbal & the family business has also been an eye-opening experience for him & that has also compelled him to put his sister & nephew at the backseat because he has allowed them to exploit him for so so long.

Nafeesa really has been an ideal partner who has always pushed Iqbal to do something that he would never do. It is beautiful how even  without having much support or encouragement from her husband, Nafeesa still has never allowed any complexes or insecurities creep into her mind. In fact, Nafeesa has not let anything stop her from speaking her mind & being the voice of reason. Iqbal never gave Nafeesa the edge to put her opinion forward but she didn’t stop trying & now it was working. It was nice to see Iqbal acknowledging all that Nafeesa has done for him & she was the one who pushed him to see Jahan Ara & put a proper closure to unspoken feelings.

Iqbal & Jahan Ara’s meeting was well-executed, it was well-worded too. Iqbal told Jahan Ara that he was unable to forget her & even she admitted that he was her first love. Jahan Ara did lead a peaceful life with Nafees but seeing how possessive to the point of being obsessed with Jahan Ara he was, it was very understandable that she felt suffocated & emotionally drained. Nafees was way too dependent on Jahan Ara & she started making it obvious that even at times she felt tired of tackling him because he didn’t give her the edge to just be herself for a while. Nafees wanted Jahan Ara to act as his wife all the time & she had to because she realized that this was the kind of love Nafees was capable of. Jahan Ara did let Gaiti know that if Iqbal had trusted her, she would have never left him. I am glad that both Iqbal & Jahan Ara met for the last time & also gave words to the feelings they had buried in their hearts for all their lives. Jahan Ara did die in peace & I am glad Nafees wasn’t there when she & Iqbal met.

Fareeha played a huge part in convincing Badar to go & bring Gaiti back. Even though Fareeha was doing it all due to her ulterior motive but still, she ended up helping in bringing Gaiti & Badar back together. Fareeha just does not want Sameer to get married to Gaiti, that is why she is doing everything to make sure it doesn’t happen. To be honest, Sameer’s late lateef-pan made me chuckle, like c’mon man, just accept that your timing is off big-time & that you are always going to be majboor one way or the other, therefore you should leave Gaiti for Badar & get married to the girl your mom chose for you. I fail to understand why & how does Sameer always allow circumstances to beat him at his game? Majboor or Bechara much?

Anyways, Badar rescued Gaiti from Nafees & then Gaiti made a conscious decision of not going to her father’s place but Badar’s. Gaiti has actually accepted that she is married to Badar & that his home is her home too. Gaiti found out about her FIL’s death & she was ashamed to not have known about it. It was nice to see Qudsia & Gaiti consoling each other, it is like after losing their loved one’s, they both have found that one common thing which will connect them emotionally. Gaiti apologized & so did Qudsia, which actually means they both are going to start afresh. Someone please find Rania a groom, her desperation is out of control!

Closing Thoughts – Emotional Layers:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was slow but was done beautifully. I love how the writer has added all those layers of emotions in all of these characters. Nafees’s obsession, Jahan Ara’s frustration, Iqbal’s regrets, Qudsia & Gaiti’s realization – all of this was covered subtly but still with so much of clarity. Do Bol shows how simple dramas can move you emotionally & how you don’t need too much of dramatic situations to give some dimension to the story. Acting & direction was spot on as usual. Do Bol Episode 19 & 20 Story Review – Important Developments

Opening Thoughts – Phenomenal:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was phenomenal & had some very important developments to its credit. It not only took the story forward but showcased the emotional shift in almost all the characters. I liked watching how all the characters had one thing or the other going on in their lives & they all were faced with their fair shares of struggles.

Emotional Shift In All The Characters:

Gaiti made me feel for her a lot. She has been someone who never got validation of her entire family except her step-mother. Gaiti grew up in a setting where she always felt unwanted, like a total stranger that is why she relied on outsiders for emotional support thinking they will fulfil her desire of validation & make her feel valued. Gaiti found Badar but she actually thought that after escaping, she will finally be able to feel the freedom she always dreamt of but as the time goes by, every single day she is reminded that she is once again an unwanted presence in someone else’s house. When Gaiti cried after hearing all the things that Nafees had to say about her, I felt for her a lot because Gaiti was back to square one, faced with something she was running away from, but then on the brighter side, though things have been hurtful for her in her past, she was now understanding the importance of her family & all the things she actually took for granted.

Gaiti always believed that her life would be so much better with her biological mother, even though Iqbal never gave her a reason to feel content with what she had but Gaiti always thought the grass was greener on the other side. Nafees’s attitude & Jahan Ara’s struggle to maintain a healthy balance between her husband & daughter was making Gaiti realize that she was better off without her mother because she was not going to be there for her free from her own responsibilities. Gaiti started to feel the appreciation for the fact that even though she didn’t have emotional fulfilment in Iqbal’s home but she was always safe & secure there & that was the place that she could actually call her home. I think this time away from everyone, Gaiti kind of got a break to analyse & realize what’s important & what direction she wants to steer her life to. This time away from Badar also made Gaiti realize that he was the only one who made her feel valued, important & loved like she never had experienced before.

Jahan Ara actually wanted to bring all the happiness to Gaiti that is why without the sense of right & wrong, she not only sent divorce papers to Badar on behalf of Gaiti without her consent but she also invited Sameer to force him back into Gaiti’s life. Jahan Ara is guilt-stricken therefore she thinks finding Gaiti her match that she also once loved was the best way to compensate & find happiness for her. Jahan Ara has not being able to read between the lines, she has not being able to hear the unspoken words of Gaiti that her refusal to get divorce from Badar is actually her way of admitting that she might have fallen in love with him. Jahan Ara feels for Gaiti, that’s given, she also loves her daughter a lot but she wants to do everything for Gaiti based on her own perspective & the things she deems right. For Jahan Ara, Badar is not her match & is someone who has been imposed on her, therefore she is trying to undo that by forcing Sameer into her life!

Iqbal finally got the hang of the situation & he not only appointed Jamil Sahab back, he gave him the authority to hire whoever he thought was fit for the job. Zafar has carelessly stolen a hefty amount & the moment he found out that Iqbal got a heed of the situation, he ran away. Iqbal has now realized that he can not trust anyone just so easily in the matters concerning his business & that is why he was also convinced that Badar was trustworthy because he took care of his business with sincerity. For the first time Iqbal felt relieved & also acknowledged that Gaiti’s decision of not marrying Zafar was right. The time that Iqbal has spent away from Gaiti has also changed his perspective about a lot of things plus he has also started to feel that he made some wrong choices due to his ego & may be that’s why he is eager to make amends.

Sameer found out how Fareeha played a huge part in creating misunderstandings between him & Gaiti. Sameer not only confronted Fareeha but he also reached to the final conclusion that he was not going to let go of this second chance that he has got. Sameer is keen to fix everything & accept Gaiti back in his life but he will soon learn that he means nothing to Gaiti now.

Closing Thoughts – Convincing & Interesting:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was convincing & very interesting. Even though the overall execution of this drama & storytelling has remained simple but it still makes such an interesting & engaging watch. I am actually gutted that Do Bol is ending next week, even though it is good that we’ll get to watch the episodes back to back but it’s like by ending it quickly they are taking away the charm of this drama like waiting for it for days to watch it every week & then anticipating what is yet to come. Anyways, the acting & direction remains flawless. Hira Mani is the star of this drama. Affan Waheed didn’t have much scenes but the one in which he gets to meet Iqbal & talk about his father was very heart-touching, especially the sadness in his voice added that touch of realness to that entire scenario that a son was mourning the loss of his father. The actress playing the role of Fareeha is a styling & fashion disaster, the first thing she needs to do is grow the fringe/bangs out, everything about her is just so off. The styling of the rest of the cast is on-point, but I wish they hadn’t given Nafees uncle that fitted silk/satin sleeping suit, it was another eyesore which is hard to unsee now. Do Bol Episode 17 & 18 Story Review – Simple Yet Interesting

Opening Thoughts – Simple Yet Interesting:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol focused more on Gaiti & the emotional struggle she was faced with. The way the writer has given an insight into all the characters is really amazing & in such an easy fashion, she has allowed the most intricate details & emotions to surface, which lets the viewers connect to these characters & feel for them.

Gaiti Got To Experience Her Mother’s Love:

Jahan Ara was going out of the way to make Gaiti feel at home. Jahan Ara & Gaiti got to spend a lot of time together which was a much needed catharsis that Gaiti deserved. Gaiti got to hear all that her mother went through, more like Gaiti was now getting the answers to all the questions she ever had about her mother. Gaiti not only got to hear what Jahan Ara felt but she also understood her perspective. Gaiti did realize that just like her, Jahan Ara was a victim too who was not treated with love & respect & unfortunately, the one Jahan Ara blamed was Iqbal – someone who made Gaiti feel like she meant nothing to him too.

The only aspect I liked of Jahan Ara’s presence in Gaiti’s life was the fact that Gaiti got to connect to her mother, she got to pour her heart out, she felt that warmth & love that she longed for all these years but that’s where it stopped for me. Jahan Ara had no control over Gaiti’s life when Iqbal sent her away but now when Gaiti herself walked into her life, Jahan Ara was doing everything to make sure that all of the doors of Gaiti’s return are shut & she stays with her for the rest of her life. Yes, Jahan Ara’s concerns for Gaiti’s well-being were understandable but she took it to the point where she came across as quite selfish in her approach. Jahan Ara is being over-protective about Gaiti but she was taking it to that point where she was not even ready to give Gaiti a chance to make her own decisions. I liked how Gaiti didn’t just sign the divorce papers even though Jahan Ara brainfed her against Badar quite a lot.

Badar was struggling but then he tried to make himself understand that Gaiti was not going to stay with him forever. Badar decided to meet Gaiti once so that he could put his heart to ease but Jahan Ara didn’t allow that to happen. It was nicely shown how even though Gaiti was at peace after meeting Jahan Ara, she kept on thinking about Badar & smallest of things kind of took her mind back to him.

Iqbal picked up on something fishy that was happening at the office that is why he showed eagerness to join it back. Once again, Nafeesa tried to help him make that decision because she wanted to bring Iqbal out of that state of confusion. It was good that Iqbal met Jamil & told him to join the office but I so wish Jamil had told Iqbal about whatever Zafar was upto as he himself stumbled upon the files that lead him to Zafar’s wrongdoings. It is interesting to see how present-minded Firdous is where she always intervenes in order to save her son even before someone says anything. Firdous definitely is exploiting the love & respect her brothers have given to her. Firdous wants Zafar to inherit all that belongs to Iqbal but she is mistaken to even think that would happen. I am quite sure that the reason or person behind Iqbal & Jahan Ara’s failed marriage is Firdous, let’s see when that secret will be unveiled.

Iqbal got to meet Badar & not only that, he also found out how Badar was helping Jamil too while still taking care of his father. For Iqbal to learn that Gaiti was with Jahan Ara was quite shocking as he never could imagine that Gaiti would ever do such a thing. I really like how the situation is changing & is kind of compelling Iqbal to make some changes, curb his ego & welcome Gaiti & Badar back in his life.

So Sameer came back & Hassan happens to be working for Nafees. This was an interesting & coincidental way of reconnecting Gaiti & Sameer. Obviously Sameer has not being able to get over Gaiti plus Gaiti herself is now at a distance from Badar. Even though Gaiti may have found the peace she was looking for after meeting her mother but she is unable to overlook how her presence is causing distress to Nafees because he makes it very obvious to her. Gaiti must have stayed with Jahan Ara if she was alone but after seeing how her presence is being troublesome to Jahan Ara’s husband Nafees & how he is giving her a bit of a hard time, Gaiti is forced even more to second guess her decision.

Closing Thoughts – Perfect Entertainment:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was interesting but a bit slow. However, I am glad that the story is moving forward & 4 episodes per week definitely help as well. The preview of the next episodes did seem interesting too where Gaiti despite meeting Sameer & hearing his side of the story will take the decision of going back to Badar. Gaiti definitely needed to come to this side of the fence to see the other side from a different angle. She always thought that meeting her mother & being with her will erase all her problems but she learnt it the hard way that even this side of life was not free of complications & loneliness. Even though Gaiti was unhappy & couldn’t stop thinking about being with Jahan Ara when she was with Badar but now she can’t take Badar out of her mind & she is slowly realizing what she meant to him & how he made her feel valued & important. Dramas like these show that simplest of stories conveyed in simplest of manners can often make such amazing dramas to watch. Do Bol is definitely a very nice drama which helps you disconnect with real life & enjoy it as an entertainment – something which dramas are or should be made for. Do Bol Episode 15 & 16 Story Review – So Far So Good

Opening Thoughts – So Far So Good:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was nice & took the story forward. It is interesting how minor details have been covered which makes this drama very real & easy to relate to. Do Bol is a story of regular people facing difficulties & problems in their lives while dealing with everything that comes their way as they deem fit.

The Heartbreak:

Gaiti finally got to meet Kiran & she conveyed Gaiti everything that she wanted to say. Kiran tried to convince Gaiti but then again, she knew she had to take Badar on board because Gaiti was persistent about not coming to attend her Nikkah function. All the efforts that Nafeesa has put into letting Gaiti know that she still loves her & misses her are so heart-touching. If there’s one person in the family who is sincere to Gaiti, it has to be Nafeesa but then it is unfortunate that she hasn’t been able to get in touch with Gaiti after her marriage.

In this episode, seeing how Firdous has been manipulating every single situation to her advantage, I kind of felt that may be she has everything to do with Jahan Ara going out of Iqbal’s life. Firdous can never see anyone happy, that’s a done deal, for her, Zafar & her own agendas matter the most so I kind of feel she must’ve pushed Jahan Ara to the limit where she had to take this decision as after seeing Jahan Ara, she seems to be quite a reasonable & rational person.

On the day of Neelam’s Nikkah, everything went according to Firdous’s plan where she wanted Badar to be insulted & Gaiti to lose her place in Iqbal’s heart even more. Firdous could see that Iqbal was struggling ever since Gaiti left, therefore she had to twist everything to make him feel that he meant nothing to Gaiti & she was still holding onto her pride & ego. While watching this episode, I actually wondered if Iqbal will ever be able to see Firdous’s true colors? Like he is in that stage of life where he is used to being controlled by Firdous & he never ever questions her choices, so will he ever be able to put two & two together to actually see Firdous for who she is? I hope it happens though!

Jamshed came back to fake his sympathy & derive some pleasure out of it but then Gaiti did realize that it must’ve Jamshed behind the attack on Badar. Without even questioning Gaiti, Badar immediately believed that Jamshed must’ve done that but unfortunately when he tried to convince his family, he was taunted for giving too much authority to Gaiti to cloud his judgments. There’s absolutely nothing new in the entire setting of Badar’s family, they have a whining mother, a sick father, a desperate-for-marriage-bitter-sister & one younger sister who is the sane one after Badar & their father in that house. I think this entire Rania’s Rishta scene is being dragged & its mentions are getting quite repetitive. I find Rania annoying but then I won’t entirely blame her. Qudsia keeps on yapping about her marriage in front of Rania all the time so it’s pretty much expected that she’d react every single time. Both Rania & Qudsia need to take a deep breath & relax, I am sure they themselves are tired of wheezing too!

So, Jahan Ara returned & she found out about Gaiti. She not only decided to get back in contact with Gaiti but also brought her home too. Nafees is well-aware of Jahan Ara’s past but after looking at how he relied on his wife to fetch clothes for him after all these years, it was pretty obvious that he won’t be fine with Gaiti’s presence in his house & Jahan Ara’s life. Showing acceptance to someone’s past is one thing but seeing a reminder of it in front of you all the time is not easy & Nafees made it pretty obvious but Jahan Ara didn’t see that yet.

One of the heart touching moments of this episode was the conversation between Nafeesa & Iqbal about Gaiti. Iqbal was actually concerned when he saw Nafeesa & heard whatever she wanted to say about Gaiti. Iqbal wants to undo whatever has happened but even his ego is getting the better of him. I am sure something huge will have to happen in order for Iqbal to put everything aside & welcome Gaiti & Badar back into his life. I think Zafar has kind of laid the foundation for it to happen because he is taking irrational decisions regarding the family business & it seems that Iqbal is not too satisfied with whatever he heard. I am glad that in the preview of the next episode, Nafeesa is telling Iqbal to go to the office & analyse the situation himself. I so want Iqbal to realize how Nafeesa has always supported him & stood by him through thick & thin. I want him to acknowledge her efforts & appreciate her for whatever she has done for him so far.

Closing Thoughts – Brilliant Performances:

Overall this episode of Do Bol was really nice. I must say Haris Waheed is such a gifted actor, I am impressed with the kind of treatment he has given to Zafar’s character where he has tried to keep the mean streak in him subdued while still making it obvious. Very impressive. Hira Mani looked beautiful in this episode as well & we saw some amazing acting by Affan Waheed in the last scene of this episode where he could not deal with the fact that Gaiti left him. The girl playing the role of Rafiya is another star of this drama, I love her subtle but brilliant expressions. The direction, production value, dialogues, script, acting, everything is spot on. Well done team Do Bol. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 13 & 14 Story Review – Change of Dynamics

Opening Thoughts – Change of Dynamics:

Ohkay so, this episode covered the change of dynamics between Gaiti & Badar where Gaiti couldn’t help but soften her heart for her husband as well as his family. I guess this decision of airing double episodes of Do Bol twice a week is a good one because it is showing the progress as well as has upped the pace of the drama too.

Gaiti Has Started Accepting Badar:

Badar was pushing himself to the limit, he was stretching himself thin to make sure Gaiti gets the fraction of a relief that she was used to before her marriage to him. Badar knew that Gaiti’s world turned upside down that is why he feels it is his responsibility to bring some comfort her way. Arranging an air-condition for Gaiti without even worrying about what his mother would say showed that for Badar, Gaiti was his priority & while he was fulfilling all of his duties as a son, he wanted to be a dutiful husband too.

Gaiti couldn’t help but feel the love Badar had for her because she could see how he was taking pressures from everywhere but still not allowing it to stop him from doing whatever he wanted to, for Gaiti. Jamshed turned out exactly how I imagined & what he did was totally that I could see coming. Jamshed’s growing interest in Gaiti is unconvincing, considering that he just had a brief interaction with her & then immediately started forcing himself in her life. Jamshed knows that Rania is blind to his faults & can be manipulated easily, that is why he exploits her & does what he want because Rania will never question him. It was interesting to see that for a split second despite despising Gaiti, Rania did think about whatever she said about Jamshed. I hope before getting married to him, Rania realizes that he is a selfish & conceited person who will never be able to make her happy.

Neelam requested Iqbal to allow Gaiti to attend her wedding. Nafeesa & Nasreen were happy that Iqbal did allow but Firdous, Fareeha & Zafar were not. Firdous knows her son too well, that is why she always protects him & prevents him from getting into trouble especially in the matters where Iqbal is involved. Firdous doesn’t want Badar to get back in touch with Iqbal because despite not accepting it, it is a fact that Gaiti is entitled to Iqbal’s property & business & Badar is married to her. Iqbal has put up a facade where he does not pay heed to anything related to Gaiti but deep inside, his heart has actually melted & he is keen to know if Gaiti is doing well or not. Smiling at the news of Gaiti’s success in her exams showed that Iqbal has now started missing Gaiti but he is too egoistic to accept & admit that.

Gaiti started showing signs of care & affection for Badar which was the best part of this episode of Do Bol. Gaiti has tried really hard not to allow anything that Badar does sway her heart, but she couldn’t help it. Gaiti started off with smallest gestures but seeing how it uplifted Badar’s mood made her realize that this was all that he expected from her in return to the amount of love he showers on her. Jamshed has made it his mission to bring misery on Badar & Gaiti which again seems to be a forced situation & there’s nothing actually new or exciting about it.

Closing Thoughts – A Sweet Journey:

Overall, these two episodes of Do Bol took the story forward a great deal. It is a feel good & sweet drama which may not have something totally new or super dramatic to offer but whatever has unraveled so far is pleasant & make it a good watch. However, I don’t really understand the need for the editor to show misleading promos. Last week they showed Jahan Ara showing up at Gaiti’s doorstep plus a scene from Neelam’s wedding too but all of that didn’t happen in this week’s 4 episodes combined. Anyways, the preview of the next episode did suggest that Gaiti might leave to be with her mother, let’s see how Badar will bring her back. Hira Mani & Affan Waheed are doing wonders & their chemistry is subtle but very nice. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 11 & 12 Story Review – Brilliantly Executed Drama

Opening Thoughts – Realistic Approach:

Ohkay so, this episode of Do Bol was yet again interesting & unfolded the events in a very simple manner. The best thing about dramas like Do Bol is that they show lives of the characters in such a realistic & raw manner that you can’t help relating to them. Whatever has happened so far in Do Bol is very realistic that is why it is making it quite easy to feel for both Gaiti & Badar.

Badar Will Always Walk An Extra Mile For Gaiti:

Gaiti came back & she was obviously upset because she could not meet Jahan Ara. Badar made sure to put her heart to ease by promising her that no matter what happens, he will make sure she gets in contact with her mother. Badar has made up his mind that he is always going to treat Gaiti with love & respect. His feelings for Gaiti are one thing but he actually understands Gaiti’s perspective, he feels for her because he knows that she has been tied into this relationship forcefully that is why he goes out of the way to let her know that she is valued & loved. Badar has also seen how Gaiti used to long for her father’s validation, how she was keen to be loved by him, that is why he also put it across very earnestly that he will make sure she gets everything she ever hoped for.

I liked how in this episode, Gaiti started to show the signs of coming out of her shell. Rafiya played a huge part in bringing Gaiti to this level of normalcy where she started communicating with everyone a bit & even decided to help around Rafiya as she saw how hard that girl works & how much heavy-lifting she does. The girl playing the role of Rafiya is such a good actor & she is super pretty too. I like how effortless her acting is & her character is brilliant too. Rania on the other hand is a typical nand desperate for marriage, so there’s nothing new about her.

Jamshed made an entry in this episode & everything about his character spelled trouble for Gaiti. Jamshed obviously has evil intentions & I think he will try to turn things against Gaiti when she will stop him & his unnecessary advances. Jamshed knows that Rania is dying to get married to him so he might also use her & her hatred against Gaiti. This entire equation is going to get quite ugly, but then Badar will make sure he stands by his wife to support her.

Badar continued with his struggle of finding a job & then he finally found one. Qudsia’s concerns are real too, she knows that Badar singlehandedly has to manage all the expenses that is why that is the only thing that runs through her mind. It is kind of good to see that despite not accepting Gaiti & bring aware of her shortcomings, she still tells Gaiti to get involved like a family member. It is like Qudsia wants Gaiti to make them feel that she is a part of this family but right now Gaiti is not in a mood.

Iqbal had a heart attack & Nafeesa tried to contact Gaiti. Zafar & Firdous are making sure Iqbal stays disconnected with his daughter because legally & lawfully Gaiti is the one who will inherit everything Iqbal has earned so far in his life but both Firdous & Zafar have their sights on Iqbal’s wealth. With Zafar taking care of Iqbal’s business, it is a done deal that this business is going to be doomed, but Firdous will make sure that no one utters a word against her son. Fareeha has accomplished her mission in maligning Sameer’s heart against Gaiti & now he is going out of the picture & probably out of drama too. Iqbal has started to feel for Gaiti, obviously he knows that what he did was wrong, that is why he has taken it to his heart, let’s see if he will ever admit that he was wrong in his approach towards his only daughter as well as his wife Nafeesa.

Closing Thoughts – Brilliantly Executed Drama:

Overall, this episode of Do Bol was really nice & I had a great time watching it. The makeup & styling of all the actors is really nice, but I must say the actor playing the role of Fareeha has really put in a lot of effort into looking like a newly wedded woman but there’s something awfully off about her entire styling, like I am unable to put a finger on it but she really has taken it a bit too far where she seems like an eyesore. Every time she’s on screen I can’t stop noticing how much is happening around her, on her & the sad part is none of it works. Anyways, the direction of this drama has been amazing & I am kind of glad that we’ll be getting to watch 4 episodes per week, considering how slow the pace of this drama is kind of, it will definitely be a treat to see events unfolding quickly. Hira Mani & Affan Waheed are doing wonders & are making this journey a lot more meaningful. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Do Bol.

Do Bol Episode 1 & 2 Story Review – A Convincing Start

Introductory Details:

Ohkay so, written by Sarwat Nazeer, directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain & produced by Six Sigma & Next Level Entertainment; Do Bol is a drama that just commenced on ARY Digital & they will be airing double episodes of it, which always is a good thing. Do Bol can be termed as a family saga because it revolves around a household that leads its life in a joint family system. The first two episodes of Do Bol were decent enough to introduce the story & the characters, which are a lot.

Cast & Characters:

So, first we have Gaiti (Hira Mani), who has a strained relationship with her father Iqbal (Mehmood Aslam). Iqbal’s first wife Jahan Ara left him & his daughter, which broke Iqbal’s heart so much that till date he hasn’t been able to move on & forgive Jahan Ara. Also, because of what Jahan Ara did, Iqbal hasn’t brought himself to love Gaiti the way she deserves to be loved. Iqbal has always kept a safe distance from her which takes a toll on Gaiti. Iqbal then got married to Nafeesa (ZQ) & despite being a step mother, Nafeesa loves Gaiti like her own child. Nafeesa is mindful of the fact that she couldn’t have her own child, therefore she showers Gaiti with all the love she has as she also feels for Gaiti because Nafeesa knows how distant & aloof Iqbal is towards his daughter. This mother daughter relationship was the highlight of these episodes for me plus it was so refreshing to see such kind of bonding a step mother & daughter.

Do Bol Episode 1 & 2 Story Review - A Convincing Start

Iqbal lives in a joint family system where he has a younger brother Munawwar, his wife Nasreen (Salma), their two children Neelam & Nofil. Along with Iqbal & Munnawar, their two sisters widowed Firdous (Samina Ahmed) & her son Zafar as well as unmarried sister Fareeha reside too.

It was interesting to see how there were two teams in this household. Firdous & Fareeha on one side & Nasreen & Nafeesa on the other but Nafeesa is the peace-maker, the submissive one whereas Nasreen is the one who calls spade a spade & that gives Firdous a chance to play the victim. Firdous lives in her brothers’ house but she takes the undeserving advantage of the respect & status that Iqbal & Munawwar have given to her. Fareeha is a spoiled brat, probably because being the youngest, she has been pampered by her elder siblings quite a bit.

Do Bol Episode 1 & 2 Story Review - A Convincing Start

Fareeha is set to be married & she is getting married to Hassan, whose family moved abroad years ago but before that, they used to be their neighbours. Hassan’s family includes his mother Safina & younger brother Sameer. Sameer is in one-sided love with Gaiti & it was suggested that he had feelings for her since the time they were kids & used to play around.

Do Bol Episode 1 & 2 Story Review - A Convincing Start

Badar (Affan Waheed) is Iqbal’s manager & personal assistant, he is more like his family member too where he is quite trusted upon & looks after everything. Badar’s father used to be a manager of Iqbal’s father too, so that’s how their families have been associated for years. Badar is taking care of Fareeha’s wedding planning too & that’s when he gets a chance to interact with Gaiti a lot more only to develop feelings for her.

It was interesting to see so many characters with each of them having one thing or the other happening in their lives. Iqbal wants Gaiti to pass her exams or else he tells Nafeesa that he’d marry her off, that is why only to please her father, Gaiti is preparing for her exams. Neelam has fallen for Sameer, whereas Sameer likes Gaiti. Badar likes Gaiti too but he has just found out about Sameer’s feelings for her so he is obviously heart-broken because he can see that Sameer won’t have an issue in getting his proposal accepted. Firdous wants Zafar to get married to Neelam but her mother Nasreen has rejected the proposal because she doesn’t like Zafar as such. Even though it might look like so many tracks have been given a coverage in the initial episodes but each one of them was done justice to & they all got a proper introduction which didn’t leave much to the viewer’s imagination.

I feel just because there are so many characters in Do Bol, this drama will always be happening with one thing or the other to offer. I liked Gaiti’s character a lot, even though she has been brought up knowing what her mother did & that her father doesn’t like her but she has developed this courage to fight & not let anyone put her down. Gaiti always stands up for herself & she doesn’t allow anyone to fool around. Gaiti even stood up to her father when she saw him mistreating Nafeesa. I hope as the story progresses, we see some change in Iqbal’s attitude where she learns to respect Nafeesa & acknowledge all that she has done for Gaiti. Also, I hope he loves Gaiti too because she doesn’t deserve the hatred that he feels over what Jahan Ara did.

Even though the main focus was on Gaiti & also on Badar, I liked how all the other characters contributed a lot in making these initial episodes happening. All of them have a strong personality & it was good to see them all living under one roof with their set of issues & problems but curbing them while they get ready for a family wedding.

Closing Thoughts – A Convincing Start:

Overall, the initial episodes of Do Bol were really good & I had a great time getting to know all these characters. I am definitely looking forward to what the story has in store for us because of its convincing start. The direction as well as the production value of Do Bol is really good. The director tried to play with the beauty of Hira Mani & elaborate it further & he definitely succeeded in capturing it. Hira Mani looked like a vision in almost all the scenes & her flawless acting is an added bonus. All the actors did a great job & I most certainly enjoyed watching the character of Firdous, played perfectly by Samina Ahmed. Affan Waheed did really well as Badar, a subdued character. Really looking forward to the rest of the journey. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Do Bol.

Diyar-e-Dil! <3

Ohkay so, it’s a Tuesday morning where I live & out of my habit of writing about Diyar-e-Dil on Tuesdays, I wanted to write my final article about it on the same day as well. Diyar-e-dil was like a journey for me which stirred my interest way back from its release as I read about it on reviewit.pk that soon enough we’ll be seeing a drama that will have Osman Khalid Butt & Maya Ali as a lead pair. That was the moment when I decided I wanted to review their drama because I enjoyed watching them together in Aunn Zara, so I was sure this drama would be special too, obviously being oblivious of the fact that it would become way more special than I ever imagined. :)

So, that was the first time I got to know about it & then came the promos that actually left me speechless. Back in my childhood & back in those PTV days, I saw an episode of travel guide where they explored the towns of Skardu & Gilgit & since then, it became a dream of mine to visit those places one day. So, to see my dream destinations in the promos of Diyar-e-Dil automatically drew my attention towards it & I knew already that I was in for a real treat. I guess ever since I have started watching Pakistani dramas with interest, this is the first time I saw a drama being shot in the territory of Baltistan. Yes, we do get to see a few dramas here & there that are shot in Murree or Abbottabad but this for me was the first & I couldn’t appreciate the creative team of Diyar-e-Dil enough to have taken such a huge step & that too in a very right direction where they effortlessly portrayed the beauty of Pakistan & allowed the viewers to fall in love with our very own northern areas. I must say the locations played a major part in making this drama a clear winner even before it started because it seemed promising, royal & very grand. It showed that the producers of Diyar-e-Dil paid utmost attention & wanted to make it a drama to remember. Honestly, in the last couple of years, we have come across a lot of dramas that were shot in USA, despite the fact that they were disastrous, they obviously promoted USA’s tourism, that is why, I loved Diyar-e-Dil for the fact that they took a chance & invested in promoting such such beautiful locations that belonged to Pakistan & opened a window for everyone to know the scenic beauty that Pakistan endorses.

So, Diyar-e-Dil started & I got to know that it’s a novel which is now being dramatized & I had to make sure that I never got any spoiler alerts because I know a lot of people find it really hard to keep the story to themselves, some do it because they actually want to take away your charm & some do it unintentionally but honestly, I came across many such comments where people let me know that they were respecting my requests, which actually meant a lot to me. :)

I was new to the world of Diyar-e-Dil because I never had read the novel but the very first episode gave me an insight that it wasn’t going to be a one-dimensional drama in terms of story & we were in for a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The thing I loved the most about Diyar-e-Dil was that even though the story was pretty figurable, they still approached those situations with so much simplicity & depth of emotions that turned it into a beautiful journey. Before Diyar-e-Dil, I did review a few dramas where I actually craved to see a portrayal of human emotions, some insight into what was going through a character’s mind or what the character was feeling but that never happened & that is why I was actually ecstatic when I found out that Diyar-e-Dil was all about that, where it will deal with human emotions & their transitions throughout the journey.

I am so glad I got to watch a drama that was filled with such beautifully written characters that their struggles, their emotional moments & their journeys resonated with us & somehow we found ourselves in each one of them. That was the beauty of Diyar-e-Dil that they had such realistic situations that the characters went through, that made us relate to them on a very different level. I came across so many comments where people said the love Suhaib had for his elder brother Behroz reminded them of their siblings, Agha Jaan reminded them of their grandfathers, Ruhina during the initial part of the story reminded them of some unreasonable relatives they themselves had a bad experience with, Arjumand reminded them of their mothers who had to sacrifice so much for others to be happy & yes, Wali reminded them of all the qualities they wanted in their future husbands, hehe. :) Somehow, each & every character had a very realistic face to them that we all connected with them & understood them seamlessly.

Collage02

I loved Diyar-e-Dil for the fact that we somehow got a chance to grow alongside the clan of Agha Jaan. It was such a complete journey that covered the events of 25 years that Agha Jaan’s family experienced & may be that is why, we grew closer to them too, where we shed tears at Suhaib’s death, hated Ruhina for disrespecting Agha Jaan, loved Agha Jaan for his warmth & generosity, loved Wali for the way he took care of his family after the death of his father, felt for Behroz when he found himself all alone in his last days, respected Arjumand for how selfless she was, forgave Ruhina when she realized her mistakes & adored Faarah when she transitioned from an angry bird into a sensible young lady who wanted to be with her husband Wali. I must say, the drama-makers need to understand that the viewers still enjoy such dramas that have nothing to do with multiple marriages & we still love such dramas that are dramatized simply & beautifully, we still love such dramas that emphasize on the importance of blood relations & we still want to see more such dramas that highlight the fact that no matter how tough the circumstances may have been, a family can survive the toughest & be together in the end just because they come from a space of love & believe in forgiveness. After watching so many dramas that only had dusri biwi as an ultimate solution to all the problems, Diyar-e-Dil indeed came as a breath of fresh air because it had nothing to do with commercialized story-lines that are repackaged in order to grab the ratings. I really hope that the popularity of Diyar-e-Dil allows the drama-makers to see that viewers enjoy such decent dramas & compels the writers to come up with more such family-oriented stories as well.

For me, Diyar-e-Dil came at such a perfect time because during its show-time, I got to visit my family & then it became a family affair where my we all used to watch this drama together. I must say, I found myself lucky to have gotten a chance to enjoy it with my family especially my mother because we would cry together, laugh together & discuss it after the episode ended. At times, my mother or my sister would suggest what I shall speak about in my reviews & would later ask about the comments on the latest episode. During my vacation I was on the run & honestly speaking, I made sure I kept myself free or didn’t travel on Tuesdays because Diyar-e-Dil; drama & its review was that important for me & honestly, the support & encouragement that I got from my readers kept my motivated. :)

I think most of my readers by now have gotten to know about the love that I have for Korean Dramas & I am talking about them because I have a perspective to share. I actually like watching Korean dramas because they promote their culture, their norms, their traditions & their values without making it too obvious & they unconsciously make you fall in love with their lifestyle & honestly every other drama takes you to the world of its own & when it ends, it leaves you with a feeling of emptiness. They always shoot their dramas in the prime locations of Seoul City mostly to promote tourism. Their direction is flawless, their stories are always refreshing but can be simple too & their acting is always spot-on, that is why when I saw Diyar-e-Dil, I found it to be in the exact same league as Korean dramas because Diyar-e-Dil for me was a Pakistani version of the entertainment that I always found in Korean dramas. Diyar-e-Dil was all about family values, our culture, our family structures where they highlighted the fact that how head of the family is supposed to be respected & followed, it was a simple story that was elaborated beautifully with the backing of phenomenal acting, it was shot at such a location that obviously will catch viewers attention & promote tourism & that is why, for me Diyar-e-Dil was a complete package just like any other Korean drama that I have watched till date & yes, it did take me to a beautiful world of its own too & now when it has ended, I still feel like something pivotal is missing from my life. So yes, I am so glad that after Malal, Diyar-e-Dil is another such drama that I can watch numerous times & never get bored again & I so wish that Diyar-e-Dil proves to be a game changer which forces every single drama-maker to step up their game & vision when it comes to drama-making & story-telling.

Collage03

I must say, I wasn’t too impressed with Farhat Ishtiyaq’s Humsafar & that is why when Diyar-e-Dil started, I didn’t keep my expectations high but honestly speaking, I am glad I was proven wrong because she convinced me this time & this definitely is my favorite work of hers. I think a huge shout out should be given to the casting directors for choosing such a brilliant cast that owned the characters they were portraying & perfected them in every aspect & I believe all because of their hard work, Diyar-e-Dil became such a treat for us all. I must say, I have seen quite a few dramas of Sir Abid Ali but this for me was his best performance so far. He actually made us fall in love with Agha Jaan’s character that is why for me, he was the backbone of this drama. Ali Rehman was perfect as Suhaib & I felt gutted when his bit ended too soon in the drama. Osman Khalid Butt improved heaps as the episodes progressed & by the end he seemed much more comfortable as Wali making it obvious that no other actor could’ve done justice to that character like he did. Honestly speaking, I was skeptical about Hareem Farooq when I saw her in the promos but right from the beginning & the very first scene of Arjumand, she showed such a brilliant performance that was unexpected & now when the drama has ended, she proved herself every step of the way because she portrayed all the shades of Arjumand’s character & all the age brackets phenomenally. Maya Ali was brilliant as Faarah & I think as the episodes progressed she also got comfortable in her role & we saw a massive improvement in her acting especially in the second phase of her journey in the Haveli. Ahmed Zeb made a great villain & I am sure he has a bright future ahead because he was very convincing as Moeez. I so wish this whole team gathers once again & gives us another brilliant drama that will stay close to our hearts just like Diyar-e-Dil & oh a special shout out should be given to the music composer of the OST because it added to the beauty of the drama as it was a very powerful song, but I wish it was used more throughout the drama.

In the 32 reviews that I wrote (not 33 because my dear friend Areeba covered for me once I was away on a mini-trip), I believe we have discussed each & everything related to the characters & the story, that is why I have made this article about my journey, my thoughts on it that I didn’t share before, how I enjoyed watching it, how it kept me linked with it & how it never escaped my priority list. I have made it a very personal sort of article just in order to hear your side of the story too. I want you guys to share how did it change your entertainment world & what was it about Diyar-e-Dil that hit home for you? I am sure I’ll be hearing so many interesting stories that I can’t wait already. Oh, just so you know, it’s already Tuesday night here, yes, I started writing this article in the morning but I actually dedicated the whole day to reminisce about Diyar-e-Dil as I wanted to imbibe the fact properly that it’s going to be my final say on it, so I took my time. :) So please do share the beautiful journey that you’ve experienced with Diyar-e-Dil as I’d love to hear you guys out. :)

Diyar-e-Dil – The End! <3

Awwwwww, it was such a sweet journey that came to an end today. I felt like procrastinating the review because I just didn’t want to admit that Diyar-e-Dil has ended & this was the last time we got to see our favorite characters together. :(

Finally, this episode was as sweet as Gajjar Ka Halwa but I still feel I didn’t get enough of Wali & Faarah. They both deserved more screen-time but going by what they have given us, their scenes together were amazing. It was actually quite interesting to see how Faarah decided to share her feelings with Agha Jaan – she developed a strong bonding with him in a very short span of time that is why, just how she used to be candid with Behroz, she was now telling her inner most feelings to Agha Jaan as he became a perfect father figure to her. The way Agha Jaan pleaded Faarah’s case in front of Wali with so much concern showed that he didn’t want Faarah to feel any pain. Wali knew that out of all the people, only Agha Jaan would understand what Faarah put him up with all these years, so now it was his time to test her patience & extract some fun out of it. Wali knew exactly that his decision of being with Faarah will not only make her happy but it will mean the world to every single family member, that is why he was keen on making it the most special moment for everyone.

Faarah obviously didn’t have the courage to hear Wali out as the burden was overbearing & she was certain that Wali would call off their Nikkah in front of everyone but if only she had waited, she could’ve heard what Wali wanted to say. The way Wali looked at Faarah when he found her in his room told a beautiful tale of how much he loved her. Wali perfectly understood that all this suspense was hard on her & she had no courage to face it, that is why, she chose to put herself to sleep in order to ease her aching heart & that is why when Wali could see how defeated Faarah was, without wasting any time, he decided to let her know what he actually felt for her after hearing Faarah’s side of the story. Faarah knew that Wali deserved that confession & acknowledgment & that is why, she didn’t hold back & told him that she loved him & yes, her confession was heartfelt, honest & perfect. All those tears that Faarah shed highlighted the honesty that was in her confession. Yes, Faarah had no idea about what was running through Wali’s mind & without even giving it a thought that her deceleration would change things for good, she let the secret out of how much she wanted to be with him. Obviously, all the things that followed were exactly opposite of what she had expected & imagined but just then, she knew that everything was going to be alright & Wali will stay by her side for the rest of her life. :)

I absolutely loved the honesty that their confession embodied as it came after a very long, dark & rough patch, but they both knew they had to let each other know what was in their hearts. Faarah for the first time got to know that Wali had loved her ever since he was a kid & probably didn’t even know the meaning of true love, that is why, he didn’t give up on her when she gave him a tough time. Faarah then understood that if only a few months of harsh behavior of Wali could cause her so much pain, how much of her rude behavior for so many years would have hurt him. The way Wali assured her of how much trust he had on her gave her enough confidence to admit that she always lied when she said she hated him. Faarah was never taught to hate anyone but it was just her immaturity that didn’t allow her to see what a gem of a person Wali was. I loved the way Wali spoke about all the weaknesses that Faarah had again & again, because it showed that he accepted her the way she was & he also acknowledged the efforts she made to change herself for him. Wali actually loved her truly & that is why he was never taken aback by the differences their personalities had. Faarah did change herself because she knew that a perfect man like Wali deserved nothing but the best. I loved their confessions & the sweet bickering they enacted in front of Agha Jaan. I somehow loved the way they ended the episode with Agha Jaan in the picture because his presence completed the whole scenario as he was the backbone of this family & the reason why everyone was together under one roof. What a perfect way to end such a beautiful journey!!! :)

I must say, Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt, both stood out in this episode & gave their 100% to make the ending so impactful & memorable. I loved their chemistry & the ease with which they both performed the ending scenes of their beautiful conversations. They both were perfect & proved my point once again that there is no need of relying on any sort of closeness when the words are powerful & the expressions perfectly tell the story in literal sense. This drama was special & indeed it will stay with me for a very very long time. I already am feeling a void because Diyar-e-Dil has ended. The way they made us all relate & connect to all the characters was phenomenal & it doesn’t happen that easily where you understand each & every character; its struggles, its transition, its feeling with that much perfection but Diyar-e-Dil’s script & direction made it very easy for us to do that.

I will thank the director Haseeb Hassan especially for directing Diyar-e-Dil so beautifully & with so much detailing because it added another level of depth in the story. I will thank Farhat Ishtiyaq for writing such a beautiful script that depicted human emotions perfectly. Diyar-e-Dil has given us so many things to ponder upon like the importance of the head of the family, respecting the blood relations & giving priority to your family members. Without getting preachy ever, Diyar-e-Dil elaborated the embedded lessons so effortlessly & I will thank the writer for writing down the character of Agha Jaan because his insight & his wisdom made things right in the end. The way the emphasis was made on letting go of the past & working together in making the future right & better was what I loved the most about Diyar-e-Dil. The transition of each & every character, their personal battles between their minds & hearts, with their hearts winning in the end & then to see their wisdom guiding them through the course of their journey was absolutely brilliant. A journey of the whole family together that went through so much & stood by each other in the end is what makes Diyar-e-Dil perfect in every single aspect. :)

I will thank Abid Ali, Mikaal Zulfikar, Ali Rehman, Behroz Sabzwari, Hareem Farooq, Sanam Saeed, Ahmed Zeb, Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt for giving such phenomenal performances but indeed, Sir Abid Ali, Maya Ali, Ahmed Zeb, Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman & Osman Khalid Butt stood out the most & gave their best shot which always made me say that this has been their best performance so far. The makeup & costume designers did an amazing job too & I will especially thank the whole team for choosing such a beautiful location for shooting Diyar-e-Dil, it just elevated the pleasure of viewing this drama & made it a visual treat. I have loved the OST & also loved the lighting through out the drama. The attention to detail that we all noticed was another aspect that made this drama a complete package. I must say, I am thoroughly impressed by the growth that Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt have shown in this drama, they sure have come a long long way also. I also feel that a special mention should go to both Ali Rehman & Hareem Farooq for doing justice to their characters & giving life to them because they actually made us fall in love with the characters of Suhaib & Arjumand. Abid Ali was phenomenal as Agha Jaan & it won’t be an overstatement when I say that he has become one of my favorite characters of all times. :) I actually feel lucky that I got a chance to view & review such a perfect drama like Diyar-e-Dil that gave me so much to remember & yes, I feel Diyar-e-Dil deserves every single award in every single category of Hum TV Awards because all the actors & the whole drama-making team has been phenomenal so they deserve that much recognition & acknowledgement for sure. :)

In the end, special thanks to all the beautiful readers out there who supported me & my efforts, who also stood by me whenever I told them I was busy & caught up due to personal reasons. I will be missing our discussions over Diyar-e-Dil & yes, our Tuesdays won’t be the same anymore but let’s rejoice over the beautiful journey that we all lived through together. Please share your beautiful thoughts about the absolutely beautiful Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 32! <3

Awwwwwwww!!! This episode ended at such a sweet note & it just lifted my mood because the initial part of the episode was a bit serious but I loved the way it ended because that’s exactly what we all have been waiting for & not to forget – eagerly.

I know it might come as a shock but in my opinion Ruhina has redeemed herself & she is earning more points with each passing episode, not only because she has realized her mistakes but also because she is trying to do everything to make things right. Ruhina knows that she has hated such nice people for such a long time & it’s about time that she should forgive & move on because things have changed, all these people have changed & her circumstances have changed too. I really think it is very intelligent of her to understand that all the things she has said & done are now having an effect on Faara’s life. Yes, she loves Faarah & wants the best for her that is why she is ready to go to any length to provide the happiness that her daughter deserves.

I think it was very sweet of Agha Jaan to think about handing over the property to Ruhina, that way he wanted to assure her that she was a part of the family & she belonged there too. Agha Jaan knows that he couldn’t do anything for Behroz while he was alive, that is why without wasting any time, he wanted to get done with the property distribution. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation Agha Jaan & Ruhina had about Tajjamul & Co. It was another realization that dawned upon Ruhina that she never had enough farsightednesses to see through his brother & his son. Ruhina was taken aback by the mention of Wali not trusting Moeez ever because she never could imagine that at such a tender age, Wali could be intuitive as well. I think on his own, Tajjamul did the right thing by apologizing to Ruhina because he indeed shattered her trust & hurt her deeply. He is the one who taught such deceptiveness to his son & now he was ready to face the consequences because he knows that it will be a long time for Ruhina to be able to trust her brother again. All the things Moeez said to Tajjamul made him realize that he never had a good influence on his son & both the husband & wife were guilty of setting such an example for their only son, but I am glad their episode is over & Ruhina is done with them.

I think I have said this so many times & for the right too that I never took Arjumand seriously because I knew she will bring herself to the point where she will accept Faarah easily but the way she convinced herself made me respect her even more. I am glad that Ruhina broke the ice & apologized for all the pain she & Behroz have caused to her. Ruhina does understand that it must have been hard on Arjumand to accept someone else as her husband whereas she had loved Behroz all her life before that. I felt that after Ruhina’s confessions, Arjumand could see herself in Faarah & then the reminder of Behroz sealed the deal because of which he decided to let go of the grudge she was holding against Faarah because of Ruhina & Behroz. Even though Arjumand didn’t give words to those feelings but I feel Faarah must’ve reminded Arjumand of herself when she first got married to Suhaib. It took her a long time to bring herself to the point where she could accept Suhaib as her husband & this is exactly what Faarah was going through. All the harsh reactions & all the unreasonable demands that Faarah put forth were a result of the brain feeding that she used to get & somehow Arjumand understood that Faarah never meant the things she said & she was under her mother’s influence. I think it was very sweet of Arjumand to shed the burden off Wali’s shoulders because he wasn’t openly admitting that he wanted to be with Faarah due to Arjumand’s reservations but just her approval was enough to bring a big smile on his face as he felt relieved. It was such a pleasant surprise to see Arjumand repeating all those words about Faarah that Wali used to say about her in front of Zarmeenay & Arjumand. Wali always knew & strongly believed that Faarah wasn’t at fault & it was Ruhina who forced her to do things that would please her, so now, to hear Arjumand say that about Faarah made it all seem very special. I honestly have immense respect for Arjumand’s character not only because she sacrificed everything for others, but also because she took care of everyone’s feelings & did what benefited everyone. Arjumand knows that Wali & Faarah’s marriage will bring happiness to everyone & most importantly, it will make her only son Wali happy, that is why she felt no shame in admitting that Faarah has changed a lot & she is the girl that would complement her son perfectly.

I swear, this guy named Wali Suhaib Khan deserves some punches because we all are waiting for some magical Farah Wali moments & he is in a mood to tease his wife Faarah Behroz Khan. Like seriously, you still want her to cry some more!!! Not cool Wali!!! I just cannot wait to see the confession that will bring both Faarah & Wali close to each other & let me just say, it better be good because we have waited for so many weeks for this particular moment so I am not expecting anything less than magical. But yes, jokes apart, I think Faarah really needs to muster up the courage, look into his eyes & tell her husband that she wants to be with him because she loves him & not because her Grandfather, her Uncle, her Aunt, her Father & her Mother want her to be with him. Wali is right because he surely has a right to experience that moment of glory when his wife will tell him that she loves him. :) The preview of the next & sadly the last episode was so exciting, they did give away something without giving away too much but I really think they should have extended the drama till 35 episodes to give proper coverage to Faarah & Wali’s relation because I really don’t think we’ll have enough of them in just 1 & that too the very last episode & oh yes, the mention of the word ‘last’ is making me sad already. :/ Please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Cheers,

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 31!

Ohkay so, finally the drama’s about to end & so is the story. I love the way they are heading towards the completion because like they have given coverage to each & every aspect of everyone’s life, they are now doing the same thing as far as the ending is concerned. I must say, this episode made me emotional because finally the moment we all were waiting for was revealed this time.

Wali took the bullet to save Faarah & what more proof would Ruhina want to know & understand that Wali is the perfect man for her daughter? I really am so glad that it was Wali who convinced Ruhina & that too unconsciously. He only did what he was bound to do & that was to save Faarah by any means necessary & just a day with him was enough for Ruhina to know that this guy loves her daughter a lot & would protect & cherish her for the rest of his life. I loved seeing how each & everything that Behroz said to Ruhina about Wali was echoing in her mind & it was like Wali was proving himself & his Bare Baba right, but what made it even more special was that Wali was just being himself, he was oblivious of the fact that Ruhina was reading between the lines & was getting convinced because she was seeing all the words of Behroz turning into a reality in front of her eyes. I loved how gently Wali treated Ruhina & Faarah because that’s what he has been taught to do & he didn’t have to pretend at all to show that he is a good person because he actually is.

Finally, Faarah & Wali both brought Ruhina to Haveli & she agreed because she had nowhere to go. The journey of Ruhina’s self-realization began the moment Moeez shattered her trust & she found herself guilty for not having enough insight & wisdom to judge people rightly. She always hated Behroz’s family & now when she landed in trouble; it was Wali who helped her out. Ruhina obviously didn’t want to face Agha Jaan but she decided she should because Faarah convinced her & told her to snap out of the past. I am glad that Ruhina admitted all her mistakes & apologized but the thing that struck a chord was her confession of how she only came here because she was wronged by her brother & if it wasn’t for that, she would have never come. I must commend the writer for making this aspect a part of their conversation because till that moment, Ruhina’s apology held no weight in my opinion but the moment she came clean about how selfish she was & how she didn’t deserve all the acceptance & warm welcome from Agha Jaan, made me forgive her too. I am glad that after all she has said & done, she had the courage to accept that she came here because she needed to & because she was helpless. Ruhina for the first time gave credit to Faarah & acknowledged her efforts of forcing her to do the right thing & it was good to see that as well.

I loved how easily & how effortlessly Agha Jaan forgave Ruhina. He showed her that its ohkay to make mistakes because by the end of the day, a family is all about walking past the hardships & embracing the future together. Agha Jaan made Ruhina understand that she was entitled to have her opinions & she was entitled to hold onto what she felt was right too & that doesn’t make her a bad person. Like Agha Jaan always said, love conquers all & I am so glad he was there to witness another such moment in his life too.

Honestly, I do feel for Arjumand too but I think she has no other option left as well to move on & get rid of the grudge she holds against Ruhina because Ruhina herself is a living example of how time & circumstances change & force people to change along as well. It was the same Ruhina who vowed that she will never ever step a foot in this Haveli & now she was there with an overbearing guilt that let her know how helpless she was. Arjumand also knows that Wali has always loved Faarah so for his sake she knows she will have to tolerate Faarah for the rest of her life considering she has no idea about the deal that still exists between them. I do understand that Arjumand has gone through a lot because of Ruhina & she is protective of her son Wali because he is the most important person in her life after Suhaib, that is why she doesn’t want him to go through any difficulty because of her again but I am sure Ruhina’s heartfelt apology will make her come to terms with the fact that she & Faarah are just as much a part of the family as she & her children are.

Overall, this episode was very emotional & I am so glad that finally Agha Jaan got to see his whole family under his roof. Sadly, Behroz & Suhaib didn’t live to see this day but their families can continue the tradition of loving & respecting each other, exactly how Agha Jaan taught them to so that too. Finally, Moeez has reached the place where he deserves to be the most & I am glad their part is done with. I really felt bad when Wali referred to Faarah as Taya Abbu ki Beti. I think he really needs to read between the lines & understand that Faarah is in love with him too. Wali should break the ice & confess his love to Faarah so that we can get to see some great moments that they’ll share. As always, this episode was filled with phenomenal performances too & Sanam Saeed played her part well because I actually teared up during her & Agha Jaan’s conversations. Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 30!

Ohkay so, let me just start of by saying that I have never felt irritated by commercial breaks as much as I did today because the whole episode was so intense & interesting. I couldn’t wait to watch it in one go & the note at which this episode ended left me in shock too but our hero is going to be safe & I am sure of that.

This whole episode belonged to Moeez Tajjamul & his desperate attempts of getting hands on Faarah’s property. He actually played his part well because he knew the only way he could get Faarah out of that Haveli was by using Ruhina as bait & he did succeed because Faarah fell for his trap. Moeez has lost control, sanity & even the sense of thinking straight because he just wants money to run his business smoothly as he knows that Imran won’t let him live peacefully if he won’t fulfill his promise of getting him the amount they both need.

Wali on the other hand spent a sleepless night too because he couldn’t get over the fact that Faarah was feeling emotionally low. Wali obviously loves her & in fact he never stopped loving her but he himself is unable to understand whether Faarah wants to be with him for his or for Agha Jaan’s sake, that is why he is trying hard to stop himself but this time he couldn’t & when he decided to break the ice, he couldn’t believe what Ruhina told him on the phone.

Tajjamul obviously felt bad for his sister that is why he freed her from Moeez’s house arrest. Tajjamul actually was reasonable this time because he knew that Moeez had to be stopped & he was done encouraging him as now his son has crossed all the limits. Yes, it was Tajjamul & Zohra who taught him all that but at least they never intended to cause any harm to Faarah & Ruhina that is why just the thought of what Moeez was about to do with Faarah was enough for Tajjamul to get back on track.

I just loved the way Faarah took a stand for Agha Jaan & didn’t even bother what Moeez might do to her for her refusal of calling him to demand divorce & property. Moeez really was mistaken to think that Faarah would commit the same mistakes she has done in her past. He really doesn’t understand that Faarah is not the same person anymore & Agha Jaan’s love has changed everything in her that is why she even went to the extreme of being ready to face the bullet but not doing anything that would cause distress to her grandfather.

In this whole episode, what I loved the most was the way Wali & Ruhina connected. Even though I don’t care much about Ruhina but I was glad that she herself was able to witness how worried Wali was & how eager as well to save Faarah. Ruhina will also have a change of perspective because the one she loved the most shattered her trust & the one she literally hated is the one who was struggling so hard & doing everything in his might to save Ruhina’s daughter & his wife; Faarah. The softness & defeat in Ruhina’s speech showed how embarrassed & apologetic she was for misunderstanding Wali.

The way Wali took charge of the whole situation was so amazing. He knew what he had to do & he even relied on his instincts, which was so good to see. He knew Moeez was a coward that’s why he would only do something in his comfort zone but fortunately, Ruhina was there at the right time to help him get in contact with Imran. The ending scene was done so well but the whole conversation of Wali, Behroz & Faarah that echoed in the background was a masterstroke. It just lifted the whole scene & gave it a very emotional feel. I loved loved loved the fact that Wali just doesn’t take Faarah as his wife, but he also takes her as someone who was dear to his Baray Baba; Behroz, which gives him even more reasons to love her. Wali has always been like that & that’s how he has been raised by both Arjumand & Suhaib; he has been taught to respect his elders, to hold his relationships close to his heart, to give utmost priority to his family members & that is why, Wali couldn’t stop thinking about all the things that Behroz said to him about taking care of Faarah, giving a feel that Wali was holding himself responsible for not being there for her when she needed him the most & for falling short of his responsibilities. I feel this scene & the reminiscence of Behroz’s words opened a whole new window for me & refined my perspective about Wali’s character & nature a bit more.

Overall, it was a thrilling episode with on-fleek performances by each & everyone but I must say, Ahmed Zeb did complete justice to his character. He has convinced us to hate Moeez & this; I feel is his biggest achievement. His acting, his shift in expressions, his evil laughter in between his frustration & his intimidation was absolutely spot-on. I feel he carried this whole episode on his shoulders really well because it was all about Moeez this time & Ahmed Zeb was commendable. Osman Khalid Butt conveyed the fears & worry of Wali perfectly too. The way he walked in utter shock towards Moeez was the highlight of that whole scene for me, it was like he couldn’t believe what Faarah was going through & he couldn’t take it as well; it was brilliant I must say!!! Maya Ali was amazing too & I loved how she conveyed Faarah’s detest towards Moeez so clearly, she has definitely come a long way & even her slightest expressions tell the whole story accurately. I must say the director here deserves a round of applause for giving life to these characters & making it all just so very special. :)

On a lighter note, I couldn’t stop noticing ‘Masha Allah’ on the windscreen of Moeez’s car, it was funny especially because he was going to do was something so evil & negative & Masha Allah didn’t suit his situation at all. Oh, I loved loved loved the lighting in the initial scenes of the episode, it was so soothing & such a visual treat. Loved the whole episode & can’t wait to see what more do they have in store for us. I am just hoping that before they finish the drama off, they give enough screen-time to Faarah & Wali’s relation because till now they have only loved & respected each other based on the fact how they both took care of others around them, but I would love to see what is it about both of them that made them fall in love with each other. Please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 29!

OMG! This episode was soooo special & nice. I awed throughout the episode because once again it was filled with such emotional dialogues & scenes that it took me to the beautiful world of its own. :)

‘Dil suboot aur gawwah nahi mangta, jahan aqal khatam hoti hai na beta, wahan se dil ki dunya shuru hoti hai’. Isn’t it nice to see that every time Faarah & Agha Jaan talk about something, they end up helping each other one way or the other? Just when Faarah was feeling low & guilty, just a single statement from Agha Jaan helped her get back on her feet & forgive herself. I loved the way Faarah came to terms with her past & her feelings. She is done blaming herself because she now understands that she isn’t such a bad person to begin with, why, because she always followed her heart & it never lied to her. Faarah now knows that every time she followed her heart & everything that her heart told her was right & that’s the way it should be & this is exactly something that gave her the confidence to share her innermost feelings with Agha Jaan. I love how gradually Faarah has developed a confidence that allows her to discuss almost any & everything with Agha Jaan & she isn’t ashamed to admit to him that she has hurt him & how apologetic she is of her past. I love how they have showed that it took her sometime but now when she has started following her heart, Faarah knows she cannot live without her father’s family, her Agha Jaan. I lovedddd how Agha Jaan could see that even though Behroz was not in contact with him, he never let go of the things he was taught by his father & that is why, Faarah knew exactly what Agha Jaan was telling her because that wasn’t something new for her as she had heard all of that from Behroz. The sense of satisfaction that Agha Jaan achieved after that conversation showed that somehow Faarah perfectly compensates Behroz’s absence from his life & he looks at Faarah with a very different perspective because through her, he feels strongly connected to his son; Behroz.

Isn’t it nice to see Zarmeenay helping Faarah with her relationship goals? Zarmeenay obviously knows that Faarah is in love with Wali & she also knows that Wali is in love with Faarah too but there are some misunderstandings & a communication gap that is hindering them from working out their differences. I thought it was very sweet of her to break the ice & take the initiative to help Faarah because she knows that Faarah is all alone & she actually has no one to talk to & no one to rely emotionally upon. I love how intuitive & fair both Wali & Zarmeenay are & I say this because Zarmeenay knows how hard Arjumand is being on Faarah & she admitted it too. Even though she tried to make Faarah understand Arjumand’s reasons, she never once tried to rationalize her mother’s behavior. Zarmeenay knows that Faarah is having a hard time because of Arjumand but she is optimistic that once Faarah will sort out her differences with Wali, Arjumand will accept her because for Arjumand, Wali’s happiness matters the most.

Oh well, Wali Suhaib Khan ke chehre pe muskurahat aa hi gai Faarah Behroz Khan ke khayal se. I think there is something very sweet about how Wali is keeping his feelings to himself. He has always loved Faarah but now he knows that the whole situation is quite complicated & it can further complicate things because where on one hand Faarah wants to be with him, on the other hand Arjumand wants her gone. I loved Wali’s balanced approach where he tried to make Arjumand understand that no matter what transpires between him & Faarah, it will never take away her right of being in this Haveli because it belongs to Agha Jaan & she is as much a part of a family as the rest of them are. I respect Arjumand for the fact that she always respects Wali’s decisions & his approach that is why she exactly knew what Wali said wasn’t wrong & he wasn’t being biased too. I know it’s random but just when Faarah was telling Zarmeenay about how she feels for Wali, I wished Zarmeenay had recorded all of that on her mobile & Whatsapp’ed it to Wali, haha! :)

Honestly speaking, I had a giggle spree during Moeez & Ruhina’s confrontation, lol. Too bad that I didn’t feel bad for Ruhina at all because this is exactly what she needed to wake up. Moeez has taken desperate measures because Imran is giving him a hard time & it was shocking to see that even Tajjamul couldn’t do anything to control Moeez’s rage. It still looked like Tajjamul was feeling bad for his sister but sorry; he is the one who started this game, so now he should bear the consequences too. Tajjamul now can’t stop or blame Zohra or Moeez because he is solely responsible for all this & what Moeez is doing is exactly what he learnt from his parents & his father in particular. BUT, I will say that again, no sympathies for Ruhina, right!

Oh well, the preview of the next episode was super enticing & it got me excited but, let me just say, I am not making it as a separate note but adding it in the review itself to make my point very clear. First off, I thank all the spoiler alerters (if that’s not a word, I am inventing it) for bringing it to my attention in the previous review that Wali is teasing Faarah & what not, I let it slide because it was something that didn’t matter much but, I am very nicely & politely letting you all know that if I come across any such comment that would discuss or give spoiler alerts for the next episode, those comments will be removed. Please, let those who have not read the novel enjoy the drama as it is & keep it in mind that we’re not in a hurry to discuss what is yet to come. ;) Thank you!!!

Anyways, this is it from my side for this week’s episode of Diyar-e-Dil. I loved loved loveddd it & I must say Maya Ali looked absolutely gorgeous during the engagement scene. Hareem Farooq is such a strong actor & I really wish she opts for more such characters that allow her to elaborate her acting skills like this. I loveddd all the scenes of Agha Jaan because Sir Abid Ali makes sure we enjoy his conversations with his family. I know it’s a bit random but I love the way Faarah has made shawls/scarves a part of her attire after Wali brought it to her notice, I know they have depicted a change of weather through that somehow but it also reflects how much Faarah respects Wali & what his words mean to her. Maya Ali perfectly described Faarah’s excitement when Wali started a conversation with her; those minute expressions told the story of her excitement & disappointment at the same time that he had nothing to say to her, about her. I absolutely love the way their relationship is being told, it’s absolutely sweet & spicy at the same time. :) Please share your beautiful thoughts about the beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil & oh, let’s congratulate Zarmeenay on getting engaged, haha! :)

ps: Well, I know that a lot of people read Diyar-e-Dil’s reviews, that is why I am using it to convey my message to HUM TV that where we all know about Bin Roye’s success, we also know that it’s been more than 2 months since its release so to see its trailers almost 100 times a day is now taking a toll on me (& I am sure on others too). So, I think it’s a high time to put a kibosh on its trailers because let’s admit, it’s almost a history now aur abb to dono Eids ghuzar gain! Please HUM TV, move on & start promoting some other movies & if not, at least stop promoting Bin Roye post-release because it doesn’t make much sense! Thank you!

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 28! <3

Ohkay so, shall I say that again? Yes, you guessed it right, I am in loveee with this drama & this episode was equally special. I love love love the way they are showcasing the feelings of all the characters because it makes us connect & relate to them on a very different level. Honestly, to see the ticker of Episode # 28 made my heart sink because it dawned on me that Diyar-e-Dil would be ending soon & I had a little sobbing session too because I just don’t want it to end. :/

So, finally, Moeez Tajjamul Wali ke haathon to nahi lekin Faarah ke haathon zaya ho hi gaya. I couldn’t stop laughing when Faarah was telling Moeez off because one, he deserved it, two, he asked for it & three, it showed how much Faarah’s in love with her husband Wali. All the things that Faarah said to Moeez told the story of how much respect she has for her grandfather & what Wali means to her. I must say I love how the trait of honesty has never been ignored in Faarah’s journey because when her character was introduced, they made sure to let us know that Faarah’s all about being honest & that is why, all the things she said to Moeez were a perfect reminder of that. It takes a lot of courage to accept your faults & even admit your feelings no matter how misleading they were & this is exactly what Faarah did. Without blaming anyone, without looking for excuses & without beating around the bush, she straight away told Moeez that she was never interested in him & didn’t want a relationship of that sort with him too. I think it was very brave of Faarah to accept that she once considered Moeez’s proposal but not anymore because she herself can’t stand the idea of being labeled as someone with a stained character. I loved how Faarah left Moeez speechless & didn’t give him a chance to utter more gibberish because honestly, she has had enough & that is why she reminded him again that she won’t let anyone disrespect Agha Jaan & Wali; her grandfather & her husband. I think Maya Ali was brilliant in that scene because I don’t know why but I feel the love Faarah has for Wali was evident in that scene; through her eyes & her expressions especially, because when she was letting Moeez know that he’s making things difficult for her, it kind of highlighted how eager she is to make things work with her husband, her Wali; the one she loves!

I loved the way Faarah reached out to Agha Jaan for some guidance because after Behroz, it is only Agha Jaan who can comfort her & lead her towards the right path. That whole conversation was written brilliantly where Agha Jaan used his own example to explain what Faarah should do & what approach she must resort to in order to mend her relationship with Wali & Arjumand. The way Agha Jaan put forth his own experience, feelings & his efforts of making things right was a perfect way of explaining things to Faarah. The conversation where Agha Jaan slightly told Arjumand to give Faarah a chance was very intelligent, it went to show that Agha Jaan clearly understood the things that Faarah didn’t even mention because he himself can see how hard she’s been trying to win Arjumand over. I must say I really liked the way Zarmeenay tried to rationalize Faarah’s previous mistakes & behavior in front of her mother as well. Zarmeenay has understood exactly what Wali used to tell her about Faarah that she is under the bad influence of her mother, that is why she is behaving that way & it was very sweet of Zarmeenay to repeat the exact same words because it went to show that she can now relate to what Wali used to say about Faarah before. Even though Arjumand is being a bit too stern but somehow I understand her state of mind. Faarah is the one who caused distress to her beloved son & insulted her father-like Agha Jaan, that is why she is not ready to give her a chance as she accepted Faarah only because of Agha Jaan, Suhaib & Behroz but now when she knows that this is exactly what Faarah demanded, she thinks it’s best to let things be the way they are & she is in no mood to forgive Faarah. I am sure after analyzing the situation herself & after a little push from Agha Jaan, Arjumand will move on but I think she is right in her own accord where she is making it very clear that Faarah has to work hard in order to win her over.

Now talking about the conversation Faarah had with Wali. It was sweet, honest & heartfelt but sadly, the result of that conversation was not what Faarah (& we all) expected. Even though it took a lot for Faarah to muster up the courage & confess that she is ready to give this Nikkah a chance & even though she started off the conversation at a right note, she forgot to add a little detail that she herself has fallen in love with Wali & she wants to stay with him because of ‘him’ & not because of Agha Jaan, Suhaib, Behroz or anyone else. I guess that’s where Wali missed the whole point because he still thinks she wants to stay with him because she now wants to make Agha Jaan happy. I so wish Faarah had straight out told him the truth about how much she respects & loves him but she chose a different approach which Wali misunderstood once again. Wali on his own was right too, he really feels it would be unreasonable & against his dignity to stay married to Faarah when she doesn’t love him & he clearly said what he had on his mind. Wali’s honesty is commendable too, he only wanted Faarah to stay with Agha Jaan & that was the only ulterior motive behind bringing her to the Haveli. Obviously & once again, all the things Wali said to Faarah made her feel even more guilty because she felt bad for misunderstanding him & blaming him for all the things he never was responsible for. I so so so wish Faarah had told him then & there that she has fallen in love with him but I guess they’re saving the best bits for the last. :) It also is so very obvious that Wali still loves his wife; Faarah but he loves her enough to let go of her, for her own happiness & I can’t wait to see how he will realize that she doesn’t love anyone but him!

This episode was packed with a lot of emotions, some very sweet moments & some touching moments too. I can’t emphasize enough on how beautiful & refined Maya Ali looks in Diyar-e-Dil. I think whoever her stylist is; she should hire him/her for the rest of her life because they have done an amazing job on her. Maya Ali herself is really pretty but she has never looked this pretty before. I must say the camera work, the crisp picture quality & screenplay is making Diyar-e-Dil a treat to watch too, I think these are the little details that have given this drama a very unique feel. While watching Diyar-e-Dil, I always feel like a dream is being translated on my screen, it seems so surreal & beautiful. I absolutely love love love this drama & all the characters & actors (a few excluded of course). Osman Khalid Butt has been perfect as Wali & I think no one else could’ve done justice to his character. Hareem Farooq was phenomenal in this episode too because it’s been a while that she got this much screen time, the way she speaks through her expressions is amazing & it shows that she has come a long way in terms of acting too. In my opinion, all the credit goes to the director for bringing out the best in all these actors. Can’t wait for the next episode already & pleaseee share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

ps: Wishing you all a very Happy Eid in advance & oh, I just feel like mentioning that I typed this review with Henna-clad hands because…you guys are very special. <3 Have a great Eid! :)

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 27!

…& the awesomeness prevails. Just like Ruhina brain-fed Faarah against the awesome Diyar-e-Dil familia, I think by now, I must’ve brain-fed you guys by praising them again & again. I use the term solely for Agha Jaan’s family because they are the ones who make Diyar-e-Dil such a beautiful story & journey. I must say I am amazed how by the end of each & every episode I am left with a feeling for completion & contentment because every episode offers us something totally amazing. I’ve lost the count of how many times I have said this but I am absolutely in love with this drama!!!

So, this episode was once again dedicated to Faarah & her realizations. Faarah is being hard on herself now because of her motive behind coming to see Agha Jaan, which now makes her the culprit in her own eyes. Faarah thinks that no one would be able to forgive her if they ever come to know about the deal she had with Wali. Faarah is magnifying the problem at hand because she is mistaking Agha Jaan’s family once again. I think once Faarah will prove her love to them, they will accept her with all her faults just like they have done so far. Faarah came to the Haveli after she openly admitted that she wanted a divorce from Wali & also wanted her share of the property, but why can’t she see that just immediately after that incident, she was welcomed with open arms by Agha Jaan & because of him, her stay was somewhat a smooth sail. For now, Faarah is shaken by the strong sense of guilt which is deterring her from looking at the brighter side of the picture. The change she has brought in herself is enough for others to see that she is doing each & everything for everyone with utmost love, loyalty & sincerity. I think it is such a beautiful period of her life where she has changed herself completely but she herself can’t see the positivity she is resonating. Faarah is trying even harder because she feels she has wronged everyone but for now she is unable to see that this is exactly what will shape things up for her. Even though, the guilt inside her makes her hysterical but there was something very innocent & pure about the way she let her tears flow & seeing her this way took me back to those times where they made it very clear that Faarah was very innocent & clean-hearted. All this while she was putting up an act, she was carrying a facade of being someone she wasn’t, that is why now when the burden has become overbearing, she is trembling because she can’t take it anymore. Faarah is tired of being someone she is not & she trying hard to pick up the pieces & be who she is.

One of the most beautiful parts of this episode was Faarah’s dependence on Wali. She herself doesn’t know why she is finding it so comfortable to speak to Wali. Faarah doesn’t know why the moment she sees him, she wants to give words to each & every thought that’s crossing her mind. Faarah has started confiding in him without expecting anything in return & that’s what defines the gravity of their relationship with each other. Even though Wali is pretty clear in his mind that he needs to put an end to this relation because this is exactly what Faarah demanded, but Faarah’s transition is taking him by shock & surprise at times leaving him speechless as he himself is unable to comprehend Faarah’s state of mind. Wali is still unsure what Faarah wants that is why he is trying really hard to maintain a distance because he learnt it the hard way. I love how different their approach has become where previously, Wali wanted to do everything to protect their relationship but now he has prepared himself for the worst & then there’s Faarah who wanted to put an end to this relation initially but now has had a change of heart completely. The way Faarah is reminded of Behroz’s words again & again is very sweet. Indeed, there are certain lessons, certain words of our parents that stay with us even after they’re gone & this is exactly why Faarah has started to understand Behroz’s point of view because even though his decision must’ve been hard on her, his farsightedness has struck a chord & this is exactly why she now understands the reason behind Behroz’s haste in getting her married to Wali.

I must say, I love the way they have shown Agha Jaan as a binding factor of this family. It only took a second for Zarmeenay to realize that Faarah has changed completely because she saw the sincerity in her prayers regarding Agha Jaan. I love how special Agha Jaan is for all of them & how he brings the whole family together. The love that they share for Agha Jaan is also one of the reasons why they all stand together because that is their strength & this is exactly what Faarah wants to experience as well. The sight of a family coming together for Agha Jaan made Faarah realize what was missing from her life & that is why she has started to focus on him completely because she knows the love of Agha Jaan is exactly what will bring the rest of the family close to her too.

I loved the conversation between Faarah & Zarmeenay. The way Zarmeenay complimented Faarah for how she owned her mistakes was brilliant. It almost felt like Zarmeenay said all such things that we have noticed about Faarah all this while too. The beginning of their friendship was one of the most beautiful parts of this episode & the excitement that Zarmeenay showed after knowing Faarah’s intention of staying with them for the rest of her life was really sweet. Zarmeenay could see that this decision of Faarah will only bring happiness in their lives but just now when Faarah has Zarmeenay on her side, I think it will become a lot easier for her to reach out to Arjumand & Wali too. Finally, our heroine has given words to the biggest secret & that is, her wish to stay married to Wali, wo hoo! :) Can’t wait to see how she will win him over! <3 In my opinion, this episode was just so beautiful that I don't feel like discussing Tajjamul & Co. in this review, I think it will ruin it completely however, I do have a suggestion for the actress playing the character of Zohra; that she should & she must drink a glass of water before delivering her dialogues because her throat seems so dry & making it look like it takes a lot of effort for her to deliver her dialogues & project her voice. I loved Maya Ali in this episode too, she has started to look just so pretty & there's something about her aura that is very appeasing to see. I have always liked Maya Ali for her effortless acting but she has outdone herself in Diyar-e-Dil completely, which makes me an even bigger fan of her. Osman Khalid Butt has been a treat to watch too & oh, I was relieved to see our beloved Agha Jaan completing the family picture by the end of the episode. I almost started missing him throughout the episode but was happy to see him back & I also loved how all his grandchildren were attending him, making him feel comfortable & engaging in some lighthearted conversation concerning his health. Yes, even though it is needless to say but I’ll say it anyway, I absolutely love & adore this family. Please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :) Keep Supporting, Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 26!

Ohkay so, despite being slow, this episode was enjoyable & I had a great time watching it. I find it quite interesting the way they have given a lot of time & space to each & every character & its feelings, because of which we can relate to them & understand what they are going through. They have added such reality to each & every situation that you can’t resist relating to them or feeling for them & this is the beauty of Diyar-e-Dil.

So, this episode was completely dedicated to Faarah Behroz Khan. It was all about the final push that she needed to recollect & prioritize things in her life. It was all about her questions getting answered that will now help her in understanding herself & everyone else accurately. Faarah has always loved Agha Jaan because after Behroz she saw a father figure in him but there was something that prevented her to be comfortable around him & that only thing was her question related to Agha Jaan’s decision of enforcing a Nikkah on her & Wali. That entire scene & conversation between Agha Jaan & Faarah was done to perfection where it showed that Agha Jaan was never oblivious of what Faarah used to think & go through emotionally. Agha Jaan tried to draw his granddaughter closer to himself but his wisdom made him realize that there was still some wall that Faarah was trying to knock down before being completely convinced about him. The way he introduced Faarah to her new abode & all the things he said about her privacy made Faarah a little more confused as she never could’ve imagined that Agha Jaan would be so courteous & considerate to be even worried about how she has never been comfortable with the idea of a joint family. At that particular moment, the expression on Faarah’s face (depicted beautifully by Maya Ali) said it all. Faarah’s mind & heart once again were at a battle where she didn’t know who to side with as the Agha Jaan Ruhina told her about was completely different to the Agha Jaan she herself was interacting with & that is why when she realized that she has always misunderstood Agha Jaan, she reduced to tears because she was letting go of the burden she was carrying all this while. I absolutely loved that scene & found it very heart-warming because finally, after so many years, Agha Jaan got to clarify himself; he has held himself responsible, he has apologized but this was the very first time when he got to explain himself & finally he did it. Even though the ending of that perfect moment between Agha Jaan & his granddaughter Faarah was tragic, it at least happened after he got a chance to say each & everything that he had on his mind so that makes it a little tolerable.

I understand the concerns Zarmeenay has regarding Agha Jaan & I also agree to what she had to say to Faarah because one way or the other, Faarah has always caused distress to Agha Jaan but for the first time I found Zarmeenay’s dialogues a little repetitive & I didn’t like Maryam’s acting as well. I am finding it hard to enjoy her scenes but I know they fit well with the situation so Yay for that. After being confronted rather insulted by Zarmeenay, all the things that ran through Faarah’s mind were elaborated perfectly. It must’ve been a hard day for Faarah but when she’d look back, she’d cherish it because this was the day when she realized how wrong she was & she let go of all the negativity & misapprehensions she had against Agha Jaan & his family. The sight of Wali crying & praying for Agha Jaan was another eye-opener for her because she saw for the first time what Agha Jaan means to Wali & she didn’t let any negativity cloud her judgment that is why for the first time she was clear about what she was seeing & she realized how pure his intentions were. Wali never wanted to blackmail Faarah & he never wanted her to feel guilty, he just wanted her to make Agha Jaan happy & this is the first time Faarah understood that, that is why she confided in him & accepted her defeat in front of him. It was yet another beautiful scene & now when I think about it, this episode was filled with so many beautiful moments that it brings warmth to my heart. :)

Sadly, Moeez is so blinded by the potential profit of his business that he has started to resort to cheap tactics, where he is once again planning & plotting to trap Faarah. He definitely is insulting Faarah’s intelligence by thinking that a few gifts would be enough for her to scurry back to him. For the first time, I thought Tajjamul was concerned & rightly so because he could see that this rage & craving to achieve his goals was turning Moeez into a monster. Zohra obviously can’t see that but Tajjamul was shaken after he analyzed the situation. I don’t know why but I really hope that Tajjamul realizes his mistakes & tells Moeez to stop playing with Faarah’s life & Ruhina’s feelings. I hope for a change we get to see that there’s someone sane enough in Ruhina’s family.

This episode was beautiful as usual & it was filled with even more beautiful details. The way Wali prayed & the way Arjumand recited Holy Qur’an while sitting in a hospital depicted a story of everyone’s life where you pray even harder if you see someone dear to you suffering from the fragility of health. I loved that they included this tiny little detail, it was beautiful. I think going by the things Agha Jaan said & what Faarah thought later, all those who have always blamed Agha Jaan would now understand that this man has done it all, he has compensated enough for a small mistake that he committed many years ago & I guess everyone is entitled to be forgiven if they yearn for forgiveness with so much sincerity. I think Ruhina should let go of her anger because if it weren’t for Agha Jaan, Ruhina & Faarah both would’ve suffered a lot at the hands of Tajjamul & co. Yes, things didn’t go Ruhina’s way in the initial days of her marriage but if she’d look back, she will understand that she has had a fulfilling past & now a very comforting & secure present & future & that is all because of Agha Jaan. Needless to say, Osman Khalid Butt, Maya Ali & Abid Ali were perfect in this episode too. They have given us such brilliant performances that I am grateful to them. Please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 25! <3

Ohkay so, this episode of Diyar-e-Dil was brilliant as always & it took the story forward too because looks like where a lot of aspects got covered & few things are coming to a closure as well. I really like the way the director & the writer have taken their sweet time in revealing the story & taking things forward because it has given us a lot of time to understand each one of them properly where we now can look through them & understand what they’re going through.

I absolutely loved the opening scene between Agha Jaan, Faarah & Wali. “My handsome Agha Jaan”, it was really sweet of Faarah to share some laughter with her grandfather, this is exactly what she yearned for & this is exactly what Agha Jaan & Wali wanted too. Wali’s expression told a story of how happy he was seeing his grandfather having a good time with his granddaughter but sadly, Moeez’s entry made things worse & forced him to misunderstand Faarah. To be honest, even though the role reversal has made the story even more interesting, I really do feel for Faarah now because Wali is misunderstanding her for all the wrong reasons & she is trying to do everything Wali demanded from her but the difference is, she isn’t doing it forcefully as, she herself wants to make Agha Jaan happy now. Moeez came like a dark cloud & ruined everything for Faarah as well as Wali. Just when Wali started to see that Faarah & Agha Jaan were having a great time together, Moeez’s visit compelled Wali to think the otherwise & that is why he accused Faarah of being an actor & for playing with Agha Jaan’s feelings. I really didn’t want Faarah to hear all that, that too after she has been through so much. I really thought may be Wali’d be able to see through her transition but unfortunately that didn’t happen. I don’t blame Wali either because he has seen Faarah at her worse all these years, so it was imperative that he wouldn’t have misunderstood her. Wali knows what no one else knows; like Faarah accepting a ring from Moeez, Faarah leaving college with Moeez & Faarah receiving his phone calls, so this was enough for Wali to convince himself that Faarah was still not doing everything from her heart & it was all an act to begin with because she was eager to free herself from their Nikkah. To be honest, I really felt bad when I didn’t see Faarah retaliating in front of Wali, she didn’t say a word because she actually was quite hurt to know that her love for Agha Jaan was being understood. The way she walked with her body language embodying defeat actually made me feel for her because for once, she was at a happy place after Behroz’s death & that was being taken away from her only because of Moeez.

Any sympathies with Ruhina, people? Yes, I know the answer is still no. She is getting just exactly what she deserves for trusting wrong people all her life & for doubting her husband & his family. Ruhina could never in her wildest dream imagine that of all the people, Moeez would be the one who’d misbehave with her that too in front of his parents & they wouldn’t say a word to him. Tajjamul did try to cover up what his son did but Ruhina was too absorbed in the self-pity once again. The way she tried to convey a message of how hurt she was made me say ‘not again’ because this is exactly what she has done all her life. Ruhina needs to snap out of the ‘I’m a victim’ phase & needs to understand that the world doesn’t revolve around her anymore, at least it did when Behroz was alive because she was a center of his universe but too bad, she stepped on him & didn’t pay him back at all for being sincere to her for 20 years of his life.

I actually enjoyed the scene between Arjumand & Faarah too. Arjumand waited quite patiently for her departure but now when she saw that Faarah’s not going anywhere & she got to see the comfort zone that Agha Jaan & Faarah were sharing, she took it as her duty to remind her that she shouldn’t do anything anymore that would distress Agha Jaan. I really like the way Zarmeenay & Arjumand make sure that nothing ever happens to Agha Jaan because for them, he is everything, he’s the head of their family & he’s their father. Just when Wali got relaxed thinking Faarah has come to her senses & he didn’t need to bother about her anymore, Moeez’s entry made him & Arjumand doubtful about Faarah once again. Arjumand has her reservations when it comes to Faarah because she knows that Faarah demanded a divorce & Wali knows exactly why, that is why Faarah now has to do everything to subside their misunderstanding but before that, she has to be very cautious of the trap Moeez’s weaving around her.

The mention of General Feroze & Laila brought a smile to my face. I love how the connection with them wasn’t lost even though they were never given a lot of screen time but the relation Agha Jaan & General Feroze shared was given such a detailed coverage in the beginning that their friendship remains very special. Zarmeenay & Ebaad’s proposal will bring some good times for Agha Jaan’s family but I loved how strategically this part was introduced that too when Faarah was in the Haveli because I knew that this will lead Faarah to question Agha Jaan about the forced Nikkah between her & Wali & she will get all the answers that she was looking for. This is the only thing that needs to be cleared because then only Faarah will be able to see that just like her Wali was forced into this relation too but he accepted it gracefully & not only that, he respected his wife & gave her love too but she always doubted him & accused him for something he himself wasn’t responsible for. I loved the conversation Faarah had with Agha Jaan about her picture; it made her realize that she has once in her life met Suhaib too.

Overall, it was such a perfect episode with some amazing dialogues & conversations. I love this chirpy & happy Faarah much more than the angry bird Faarah, hehe. Also, I love how very little gestures done by these actors make every episode complete. The way Arjumand made Wali eat some fruits while he was rubbing Agha Jaan’s feet made them all look like one perfect family that overcame the tough times together & now were having some good time after the dust has settled. I must say, Ahmad Zeb has been so convincing as Moeez, that he deserves a round of applause. I think of all the villains in this drama, he has been the most interesting character & Ahmad Zeb has done justice to Moeez’s role completely. I must say, the different shots of the location makes it look all very genuine & gives this drama & it’s story a lot of depth; almost making me feel that some parallel world exists somewhere & has some people that are going through such situations that we all can relate to, massive props to the team of Diyar-e-Dil for choosing such a perfect place & making it absolutely amazing for all of us. Also, I don’t want to make this discussion all about the next episode but what Faarah said about Agha Jaan in the preview’s making me depressed already. Please don’t let anything happen to himmm, please please pleaseee!!! Anyways, please share your beautiful thoughts about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Diyar-e-Dil – Episode 24!

Ohkay so, it was such a heartwarming episode of Diyar-e-Dil tonight. I must say all the actors have portrayed their characters so well that they have formed the connection of another level with us. Indeed, Diyar-e-Dil has been a complete package but such a phenomenal acting that stirs the emotions makes it even better. I must confess, after ‘Shanakht’, ‘Diyar-e-Dil’ is going to stay with me for a long long time & for that I am grateful to the whole team of this drama starting from the Writer to the Director to all the Actors.

Finally, the truth won Faarah over & finally, after a long long time, she has realized that this is the place to be & this is where she exactly belongs. Her stroll around the Haveli, constants reminders of Behroz’s presence & things related to him made Faarah realize that she isn’t meant to be anywhere else. In the battle between her mind & heart, her heart has finally won because it automatically got drawn towards where she is supposed to be. Ever since Faarah has come to Haveli, she has always felt connected to this place, she has always found an inner peace that she never experienced before, and therefore even though it took her a long time, she has finally accepted Agha Jaan, his love, his sincerity & his pure intentions. Even though Faarah has yet to fall in love with her husband; Wali, I have loved every bit of her transition from a confused person to someone who now has figured out everything on her own & I am sure, there’s no turning back. She has always longed for a family, she has always loved being pampered & after Behroz, it was only Agha Jaan who did all that for her, so it is imperative that she will ever be going back to Ruhina again. Faarah loves being with Agha Jaan & that’s a stepping stone towards her decision of staying with him & everyone else for the rest of her life.

I loved seeing the sigh of relief coming from Wali. His plan of bringing Agha Jaan & Faarah together has succeeded & that was all that he wanted. I really felt happy seeing Wali pleased because he now knows that Faarah has stopped misunderstanding Agha Jaan & she now knows that Agha Jaan loves her a lot. Yes, all the things he said to Faarah brought her to this point because he wanted to shake & wake her up & for that I am glad that he blew the whistle because only then Faarah understood that she was holding onto her ego & Ruhina’s brain feeding for all the wrong reasons. I am so glad that Wali held his ground & never crossed the line of decency with Faarah even after being pushed to the limit. Wali showed that it takes a lot to be a man & he proved to be a gentleman throughout. He wanted to make things right for Agha Jaan & now when that has happened, he has stopped bothering Faarah at all because he knows that Faarah herself will take care of Agha Jaan & wouldn’t need his instructions anymore.

Zarmeenay still can’t accept the fact that Faarah is sharing Agha Jaan’s love but I loved how Arjumand made her realize that if Agha Jaan is happy; she shouldn’t be bothered at all. Zarmeenay might be saying all this purely out of jealousy or also out of her sheer concern for Agha Jaan because she herself has seen that every single time Faarah & Ruhina came in contact with Agha Jaan, they caused him stress & nothing else. I love how Arjumand always keeps a check on how her children behave because she doesn’t want to feel ashamed in front of Agha Jaan. I also really appreciate the fact that they have shown how everyone takes care of Agha Jaan & his feelings because they have never shared their difference of opinion in front of him, it shows they all are very courteous when it comes to Agha Jaan & don’t believe in burdening him with their concerns at all. This is what usually happens in most of the households where grandparents are treated with utmost attention, love & respect & I must say, to see such nice bonding & seeing a head of the family being treated so nicely on TV screen is a breath of fresh air.

The highlights of this episode for me were the conversations that Wali & Faarah, & Agha Jaan & Faarah had. I absolutely loved seeing Agha Jaan clarifying his stance in front of Faarah & Faarah crying her heart out to him because she was already feeling suffocated & she needed to let go of the burden that was tearing her apart, & yes, I did cry, not a bucket but enough to grab a tissue paper because that scene was so touching.

Oh well, Meesna Moeez wasn’t so Meesna after all, innit? It was a shocker to know that it was Moeez who suggested Faarah should inherit her part of the property because in his own peanut sized brain, he has accepted her as his fiancée & he thinks he owns Faarah & everything that belongs to her. Even though I am glad that Faarah is away from all of them, I am also happy that Ruhina is stuck between them because she needs to learn her lesson for sure. Moeez is eager & is now losing his cool because he has his business partner pressurizing him to fend for the finances for their new business & I am sure this is what will force Moeez to show his true colors to Ruhina because he already is feeling burdened & doesn’t know how to figure a way out of this.

The preview of the next episode was engaging as well. I am sure Agha Jaan will try to ease Faarah’s pain because he has pretty much understood that Faarah is not into this relationship as he has noticed already how Faarah always tries to change the topic whenever he’s speaking about Wali. I must say, Maya Ali looked extremely pretty in this particular episode. Her pale face depicted the unease she was feeling & later a little color on her cheeks showed how she felt much better by letting go of her fears after speaking to Agha Jaan, I must say the makeup artists deserve a special mention for their awesome work & so do the stylists because I think it has been a while since we got to see a stylish heroine clad in long coats & Maya Ali really has carried herself well in Diyar-e-Dil. Osman Khalid Butt looked great too in his horseback riding ensemble, also he looks so mature & responsible whenever he wears a Shawl over Shalwar Kameez, it gives him a very refined & genteel look. The stars of this episode were Abid Ali, Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt for sure. They make their scenes such a treat to watch but yes OKB deserves a special mention for such a phenomenal acting in the confrontation scene because his expressions were so controlled & he elaborated Wali’s state of mind perfectly. I can’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your beautiful thoughts with us about this beautiful episode of Diyar-e-Dil. :)
