Bollywood loves to steal, be it scripts, storylines or music. Most of our iconic songs are already copied by Bollywood. The last fiasco was the rendition of Bol Kaffara which was blatantly copied without any repercussions. The latest musician to fall victim to this malpractice is Shuja Haider.

Shuja Haider took to Twitter and shared his disappointment on his song getting stolen. He shared that he absolutely not proud of this and asked the Indians “apna banao” i.e. make your own:

Pakistanis have always had a soft corner for Bollywood and Bollywood stars as many grew up watching their content. We even have super fans of Bollywood stars among our own fraternity. The biggest stars of Pakistan have been obsessed with Bollywood including their Khans and Kapoors and we see them condole any actor that passes away on the other side of the border from legendary Dilip Kumar aka Yousuf Khan to reality television star Sidharth Shukla. On the other hand hardly any star from Bollywood raised voice for Pakistani flood victims, raising donations is a far heard cry. Pakistanis even offered to send essentials as well as a team from Edhi foundation just last year when India was fighting the deadliest wave of Covid-19 and the whole nation sent them good wishes including our stars but the sentiment was not returned when Pakistan is submerged in water. Mehwish Hayat also felt disappointed and called out the insensitivity of Bollywood stars.

Bollywood superstar’s Rishi Kapoor’s last rites are performed in Mumbai in the presence of immediate family members and close friends.

30 April 2020 marks the day when another hero of Bollywood left this world at the of 67. Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer 2 years back and today he lost his battle against this deadly disease.

Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor however, couldn’t make it to the funeral of her father, as she was in Delhi and because of Corona Lock down she was coming to Mumbai by road but she couldn’t make it on time. Riddhima watched her father’s funeral on a video call. Alia Bhatt was live streaming the funeral to her.

The sudden demise of singer and drummer Farhad Humayun on Tuesday has left the music world and fans in shock. Bollywood actor Arjun Mathur took to his social media account and penned down an emotional note, recalling all the memories with his friend Farhad. The two shared a childhood courtesy of their parents’ close friendship, and memories from the time echo in Mathur’s caption.

“My first memories of Farhad Humayun, or ‘Fadi’, as I knew him, are from when I was just a toddler and my parents’ best friends — Shahzad Uncle and Nivi Aunty — visited from Pakistan,” wrote Mathur, who lived in the UK at the time.

“We would wait for the parents to leave for their parties so we could hit ‘Excite-Bike’ on the 8-bit NES, or watch our favourite movies from the time.. ‘Jaanbaaz’ and ‘Veerana’, no less. As a kid, when our family visited them in Lahore, I remember the largest Aloo-Parathas I had ever seen, at their home.. and the best post-swim chicken sandwiches at Lahore Gymkhana,” he added.

“As we grew up, Fadi and I, both turned out to be the ‘artists’ in our respective families. I saw him as my own reflection from across the border (so much so that we even had our weddings around the same time and were getting divorced from our short and brief marriages around the same time).

Fadi became a musician – a drummer par excellence, to be precise – and formed a fusion Pakistani rock band called ‘Overload’ that pounded hearts with their drum and traditional dhol beats and shredded heartstrings with their electric guitars and Fadi’s golden voice,” Made in Heaven star added.

He then skipped to 2018, when Humayun revealed he had a brain tumour. After two surgeries in as many years and not much progress, Humayun decided he was done fighting and decided to live out his remaining days in peace.

To conclude, Mathur answered his own question, saying nothing could be said about a comet or a shooting star. “You just thank the heavens that you were fortunate enough to witness it, that you existed together even for a moment,” he wrote.

Bollywood filmmakers were known for notoriously ripping off posters and action sequences from Hollywood movies until they discovered that Pakistani songs and music videos are equally convenient to steal too. There are many compositions by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan that have been cleverly reprised in Bollywood. Singer Jubin Nautiyal seems to be so taken with Nusrat Fateh’s music that it is hard to find originality in any of his recent releases. His version of ‘Ankh Uthi Mohabbat’ has crossed one billion views on YouTube. He enjoyed immense success by ripping off another popular qawwali ‘Dil Ghalti Kar Betha Hai’ in September, and his latest release ‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’, is not original either. It was a ghazal titled ‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’ by poet Nasir Kazmi, performed by Nusrat Fateh.

‘Meri Zindagi Hai Tu’, featuring John Abraham and Divya Khosla Kumar in the video, premiered on October 29 on YouTube and has since amassed nine million views. Nusrat Fateh’s fans are protesting on social media by sharing the original qawwali which, according to them, has been “destroyed by Bollywood”, have a look!

India tops the chart in showing attractive women in its movies and as much as 35% of these female characters are shown with some nudity, finds a first-ever UN sponsored global study of female characters in popular films across the world.

The study, commissioned by the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, with support from UN Women and The Rockefeller Foundation, reveals deep-seated discrimination, pervasive stereotyping, sexualisation of women and their underrepresentation in powerful roles by the international film industry.
Indian films, the study finds, have a significantly higher prevalence of sexualisation of female characters and the movies score low in depicting women in significant speaking roles and as engineers and scientists.

While women represent nearly half of the world’s population, less than one third of all speaking characters in films are female and UK-US collaborations and Indian films are at the bottom of the pack.
Both, the American/British hybrid films (23.6 per cent) and Indian films (24.9 per cent) show female characters in less than one-quarter of all speaking roles. Even the frontrunners (UK, Brazil and South Korea) feature female characters in 35.9-38 per cent of all speaking roles on screen.

Sexualisation of female characters in movies is a standard practice across the global film industry and women are twice as likely as men to be shown in sexually revealing clothing, partially or fully naked, thin, and five times as likely to be referenced as attractive.

Indian films are third behind German and Australian movies in showing females in “sexy attire” and at 25.2% India tops the chart in showing attractive females in its movies.

About 35% of female characters in Indian movies are shown with some nudity, the study finds. The prevalence of female directors, writers and producers in the Indian films was also not at a very high number.

India had 9.1% female directors, slightly above the global average of 7%, while its percentage of female writers was 12.1%, significantly lower than the 19.7% global average.

Female producers in India were only 15.2%, way below the 22.7% global average.

This data of gender prevalence behind the camera translated into a gender ratio of 6.2 males to every one female in the film industry in India.

If you still follow Bollywood movies strictly, you must be amused to know that the recently released movie “Raanjhanaa” starring Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush and Abhay Deol has been banned in Pakistan and will not be making its way to the Pakistani Cinemas. 

The story revolves around a love story of a Muslim-Hindu couple and due to the possible oppositions from the religious elements within the country, the film censor board has banned the movie. Although, no thanks to piracy, the DVDs of the movie are available widely across the nation, Arshad Ali, a senior government official and chairman of the board said:

The censor board did not clear this movie because of its controversial story. The board recommended that the movie’s storyline could offend the majority Muslim population in the country and a law and order situation could arise in response.

The movie is ruling the Indian box office for its uniqueness and acting been done by the actors. While the music is enjoying to be a hit on chartbusters, even the Pakistani audience is appreciating the movie so far. 

Pakistan’s censor board has always been extra careful towards the airing of Bollywood movies that are based on sensitive issues that can raise violence within the country.

Bigg Boss 6 contestant Sana Khan has announced her decision to quit the show business, citing religious reasons. The Jai Ho actress made the announcement via social media.

Sana said that in her stint in the entertainment industry, she has received “all kinds of fame, honor and wealth” from her fans and that she is grateful to them but she has realized that she should not make “wealth and fame” her real purpose.

The actress said that from now on, she will “serve humanity and follow the order of her Creator.”

Sana further said, “Isn’t it a part of his/her duty to spend his/her life in the service of those who are needy and helpless? Shouldn’t a person think that he/she could die at any moment? And what will happen to him after he/she is no more? I have been searching for answers to these two questions for a long period of time, especially the second question as to what will happen to me after my death?”

She said when she searched for the answer to the question in her religion, she realized that life in the world is actually for the betterment of life after death.

“And it will be better if the slaves lives according to the command of his Creator and does not make wealth and fame his only goal,” she added.

The actress also asked everyone to pray for so that “Allah” accepts her repentance and grants her the true ability to live in accordance with the commandments of her Creator, service of humanity.

Sana ended her lengthy message by requesting everybody not to question her about the entertainment industry and work related to it.

In a very sad turn of events, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his home on Sunday, June 14th, 2020. He was 34 years old.

According to initial police investigations it seems as if Sushant committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of his home.

Singh had been living alone during the lockdown.

Sources state that the actor hadn’t been feeling well for a few days and was found hanging in his Bandra home. Just five days back, his former manager Disha Salian was found dead.

Sushant started his career with the TV show Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil and rose to fame with Pavitra Rishta. Sushant has done a number of prominent films in his career, amongst which was the biography of M.S Dhoni.

Famous Bollywood actor, director, and producer Rajiv Kapoor passed away at the age of 58 in New Dehli. According to Indian media, the reason for Rajiv Kapoor’s death is Cardiac Arrest. Rajiv Kapoor was the son of Late Indian superstar Raj Kapoor and brother of Rishi Kapoor (Late) and Randhir Kapoor, uncle of present-day superstars Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor.

According to ndtv: “The Ram Teri Ganga Maili actor suffered a heart attack at his residence in Chembur following which he was rushed to Inlaks Hospital. He was declared dead at the hospital, news agency ANI reported.”

Kareena Kapoor also announced the demise of her uncle and also shared in her Instagram story that no Chautha will be held because of Corona.
