Sanam Chaudhry who has been a newbie in the industry but had made a good name for herself in short time, with brilliant plays on the lists and some amazing roles. She has always been praised for her looks too and her fans can rejoice because she will be soon seen in two dramas named “Aur Tum Meri Mohabbat Ho” and “Shiza”. The shooting of the dramas is in process.

Hip recently got in touch with her and when asked about the details of her upcoming projects Sanam said: “I am currently busy doing two plays and both are for ARY and [out of the two] one is with Six Sigma Plus. The working title of the play so far is Aur Tum Meri Mohabbat Ho and it has been written by Ghazala Naqvi, directed by Mohsin Talat and my co-star is going to be non-other than Ali Kazmi.”

On asking a bit about her role and look, Sanam told Hip,

“My character is that of a girl who is very innocent and sweet, she has a positive attitude which is going to be of great help as she will be seen facing many difficulties as the play progresses, and for a change my hair is not going to be straight but wavy.”

The other play she is working on is Shiza, which is an IDream Entertainment production, directed by Ramis Rizvi and written by Syed Atif Ali.

While in Aur Tum Meri Mohabbat Ho she will be seen romancing Kazmi, in Shiza the actress will be seen with two heroes, one of which is Aijaz Aslam and the second one is yet to be decided. But rumour has it, Shehzad Noor might be roped in.

Talking about her role, she told Hip,

“I play the character of a girl who will be seen facing a tough time when her mother passes away, as she is someone who cannot take decisions for herself and due to that all her relatives will be seen trying to use her.”

Amir Khan’s wife denies faking the snapchat rant

0

Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom had recently shared a series of snaps which clearly stated that her in-laws used to mistreat her. But soon after, another news broke out that she and Amir will be seen in a realty TV series.

A leading UK tabloid ‘The Sun’ revealed a deleted picture from Instagram, the caption clearly stated that Faryal And Amir will be seen in the reality TV series named ‘Home with the Khans’

The rumors instantly broke out, hinting on Faryal’s snaps as a mere publicity stunt for her upcoming show but she took it to Twitter to debunk these rumours, stating that “No HUMAN would put themselves through this drama for a publicity stunt!”

Amir too opened up a while later and cleared the air:

Well this controversy takes a new unexpected turn everyday.

Sadaf Kanwal speaks about her character in Balu Mahi

0

Balu Mahi had been caught up into the controversy and was claimed to be copying the film/poster concept from Bhansali Films but the actors previously cleared the air stating that it is merely a co-incidence.
The film is all set to release on February 10, 2017 and will feature Osman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jaffri and Sadaf Kanwal in the lead roles.

Images recently got in touch with one of the leads, Sadaf Kanwal. When asked about her role in the film Safad said:”My role is of a fun woman who is the head of a company. She’s glamorous but also blunt, for example. she’ll be dressed to the nines and end up making a gaffe.”
She added that her character, Sharmeen, is an authoritative businesswoman who’s also ‘mazaydar’.

When asked futher more about her role, Sadaf said:”She likes this man and travels with him throughout the journey [in the film]. The two share a romantic relationship and soon fall in love and my character tries to spend as much time with him as possible as the man she loves is very unpredictable and confused.”

Sadaf Kanwal speaks about her character in Balu Mahi

She then went ahead and shared one of the beautiful memories from the shoot “It was my first day at the shoot in Hunza and it was the first time I was facing Haissam and the camera, the entire team was standing in front of me. Haissam says to me, ‘It’s time for your shot, the first scene,’ so I said, ‘okay.’ I got ready and went [to the set]. I was tensed because it’s Haissam, he’s such a big director and, whether I’ll remember my dialogues or not. I didn’t know what’d happen because Ainy [Jaffri] is very good and she had been working [on the Balu Mahi shoot] for the past few days and this was my first experience. But when I did my scene Haissam paused and then everyone clapped,” she recalled.

How excited are you guys to watch the film?

Hum Style Awards 2016 – Highs and Lows

0

Hum Network this year launched their new awards and that is Hum Style Awards. There were speculations of why making a new award show when it is going to end up as the previous one but Hum TV certainly proved it wrong. The Hum Style awards aired recently and i must say the ceremony commenced quite impressively. There could be improvements but for now lets give them the benefit of doubt but the expectations were higher, after all it was Hum Style Awards inaugural.

The stage of the show looked amazingly admiring and all the investments were clearly seen. I must say the direction was applaudable and it gave some really gazing effects. The best thing about this award show was that it paid tribute to loads of old Pakistani songs which connected us to them instantly. The show definitely did not had the whole Pakistan element since English was given more importance than necessary. It seemed like everybody was competing for the best English accent but unfortunately no one succeeded. There were many aspects which worked in favor of the show since it had some amazing performances to it’s credit and unique opening and closing.

Ahmed Ali Akbar managed to pull it off quite easily and his hosting looked effortless with completely entertaining at the same time. The rest of the hosts were Ayesha Omar, Adnan Malik and Amina Sheikh. There was not even a single moment where the hosting seemed forced but was instead handled confidently. Though Adnan and Amina had some segments which were not really captivating but their energy covered it all. The controversial joke ‘Jeana k maa baap nahi ha’ somehow landed in the show. The script had quite many flaws since the second half of the awards had some jokes and reactions which were unrelatable.
Hum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and LowsHum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and Lows

Coming towards the performance, they were kept to the minimum but had many things to offer. The opening performance was interesting because it made the beginning different from those of other awards, the segment was long though with Meesha Shafi and Umair Jaswal entering the scene but it was still entertaining to the core. Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmad’s performance was spectacular and their chemistry was a house on fire. Saba had met with a malfunction but that was edited out or was redone for good, so it seemed as if the malfunction never happened. The beauty with brains manage to continue her performance and rocked it. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice made the air magical and HSY’s dance on old tunes did kept us entertained. ALi Zafar’s act at the end had given a feel of completion and his dance with Sohai Ali Abro was outstanding. The energy Sohai had put in to it, made the performance something remarkable. All the performers had given their best and that showed their dedication towards the assigned job. And Zaid Ali’s entertaining performace was really worth a watch.

Hum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and LowsHum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and Lows

The description of every category before announcing made it easier for the viewers to understand what each particular category was about. The editing somehow had many flaws. The show somewhere in between lost the hype, it went from extremely enjoyable to boring kind of phase. There were too much of the style categories maybe more than needed and was to be covered in a short span of time. The pace suddenly became very fast and things seemed rushing a bit. A particular award was not yet received properly and it was suddenly moved to the next. The show at times was probably sinking but Rahat and HSY’s performance save the ship from sinking. At times the hosts would appear on stage from no where, leaving the viewers wondering what had just happened. Too much of editing was very visible like when Ali Zafar was all set to say something regarding his journey and this happened for many of others too.

Hum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and LowsHum Style Awards 2016 - Highs and Lows

It was at first pretty exciting watching all the Pakistan songs being played but that did not stayed for long because many of Indian songs were chosen but glad that atleast there were more of Pakistani songs. There was so much of English and when few of celebrities spoke Urdu, it seemed a bit forced. Our national language is Urdu and it would’ve been really appreciated if they had worked more towards it than English. The few international dancers present did not blended much into the performances, so it was probably not the best decission made. There were some very annoying bits too,  ‘presented by QMobile, powered by Nishat Linen and refreshed by Fruita Vitals’ was announced numerous times. Overall, there can be many improvements made in terms of choreography, editing or chopping out and most importantly Language. The small bits here and there certainly saved the show.

Noor E Zindagi Episodes 21 & 22 Review – Opposites Attract?

0

Exhausted – that is how I feel when I see Noor and Saleem together now. I actually feel bad for both of them for they are sooo different and while we have all heard of opposites attracting (something I never thought made sense but oh well) – here, attraction ka ‘a’ bhi nahin raha if it was ever there at all! The news of Noor’s pregnancy did not bring Saleem closer to Noor as she had hoped. These two episodes were a better watch especially since there was no Gulshan in the second one but even though there were Noor-Saleem scenes, sadly they were not heart -warming ones.

Noor E Zindagi Episodes 21 & 22 Review - Opposites Attract?

Saleem finds himself lapping up the attention Gulshan showers on him. He has fallen hook, line but probably not sinker for we do not see him having romantic conversations as such or entertaining thoughts of marriage, etc just yet. That gives me a small ray of hope that this whole scenario might be nipped in the bud but only time – or a further few episodes will tell! I do not want to dislike Saleem and when I say I feel bad for him too I do not mean to give him a free pass for being mean and insulting to Noor for nobody has the right to hurt another’s feelings. But for so long he has been given free rein in the house and being the sort of personality he has become, I can see how Noor’s constant attempts at correcting him may get under his skin. The reminders to brush his teeth, take his shoes off, wash his hands, while are seemingly only good things but trying to drill them into a grown man, her husband on top of that and someone who is not particularly smitten by her – can not be the best step forward. Saleem, on the other hand, does not care anymore what Noor or her family may think of him and I cringed at the dinner table scene where he would take the wrong meaning out of every statement Noor made. Anyways, yes Saleem is glaringly much more at fault here and it takes two to tango so if Noor can make the effort to try to make the marriage work, Saleem should try to.

The ‘kasam’ scene definitely left a bad taste in my mouth especially an insight into Saleem’s mind later. Which is what made me think how very different his way of thinking is and how poles apart their approach to life is. Their journey towards marital harmony is a really long road and that too not even guaranteed to meet at the same point. Noor has finally made it to the doctor and with even the doctor telling him off, I wonder whether it may have a positive effect on Saleem or send him off again to Gulshan, Nihari, Pulao & Co!

Noor E Zindagi Episodes 21 & 22 Review - Opposites Attract?

That was Noor and Saleem. Love is in the air except the air that these two breathe, it seems. So, Waseem and Zeb are growing fond of each other and have their families’ blessings. Noor sees a savior in Jalal in the form of a potential match for Sofia’s sister in law which would help save her own sister’s marriage. Not that that seems threatened for Adnan is clearly against the idea of a second marriage.

Now that news of Noor’s pregnancy is spreading, Gulshan’s mother will push her to go after Saleem with all guns blazing and it remains to be seen who comes out of this scarred and who does not. Given that this was the 22nd episode, I really hope things start moving along now and at this point I do not see how this can have a happy ending? To have a happy ending, Saleem needs to have a complete turnaround and to rush one in a couple of episodes does not make sense either. I was hoping to see a few good episodes of Noor and Saleem growing close and understanding each other but somehow I do not see that happening anytime soon. The charm of this dram is beginning to wear off and even Syed Jibran’s amazing acting is not managing to save it. The only thing I am curious about now is not how Saleem may or may not change, if Noor will find out about Gulshan, will Saleem marry Gulshan – nope, I am just wondering after pulao and nihari, what’s next in store for Saleem upon his next visit to Gulshan’s! What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Ramazan Shows – Transmissions or Transformations!

Live transmissions in sort of morning shows and Ramazan shows are becoming more common than ever. You know it’s Ramazan (the sacred month) when the most you see on TV is the ‘Ramazan shows’. TV channels get into a race to produce a better show and make the most of it for higher ratings. The Ramazan shows are no more about Ramazan because a holy show should be about spreading knowledge but what we get to see in most of them actually contradicts the social norms. Aren’t these shows suppose to be a source of information rather than games, gift session, glamour and celebrities?

The true rationale of these shows is business because these shows make huge profits for the channels. The channels promote and commercialize products, but that just doesn’t end there because they would bring up the celebrities and cash their stardom’s. These shows would be mostly hosted and attended by well known celebrities because to the producers, scholars are no more needed since the concepts would be same to those of previous years and there’ll be more glamour, fun than the whole lot Ramazan sacrosanct.

Celebrities are now chosen over scholars for these shows. Celebrities would be seen throughout the year at various events or on-screen but for Ramazan shows they will flaunt a look that is indigestible. They would suddenly switch from item numbers, bold dressing to veiled or decent dresses but what comes next, they certainly return to their very own style the following month itself. The change never lasts because they drape a holier than ever avatar just for the sake of money. If the change in them can’t last long then how come the Islamic message sent will last but that considers only if the message was actually delivered properly. The makers of these shows are clever enough to choose these celebrities because they know, most of the Ramazan shows now deliver more glamour and less information.

Let’s have a look at few Pakistani celebrities in their holier than ever avatar for Ramazan shows

Ayesha Omer

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

The tutti- fruity is a great actress and i would never question her acting skills but can i question her transformation. Not too long ago she was seen hosting a ramazan show with Sami Khan. She was flaunting looks the whole year post which Ramazan happened and disappeared the boldness.

Sadia Imam

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

She has been seen in many live shows and the ramazan one was probably the most divergent. Seen in a pure look probably more than once in Ramazan shows, because hotness is only for other events. She still never missed to look perfect even in a Shalwar Suit after all, she is a celebrity!

Maya Ali

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

She has been doing some bold and hot photoshoots, the girl in Ramazan was seen in one of the most pious avatar because hotness and bold photoshoots are for before and after Ramazan. Let’s just flaunt the holy look for now. (ivermectin)

Ayesha Khan

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

Pure diva with a revocable change because holiness is just for ramazan shows. So she for the month decided to ditch her hotness and instead was seen in a relegious look!

Hira Mani

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

She’s not just good at trial singing but at flaunting different looks too. The funda is money after all.

Hamza Ali Abbasi

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

Rising his voice then getting banned not fair! But diving in the pool with hot girls to ramazan shows, good transformation along with good ethics! (sarcastically)

Juggan Kazim

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

She too does not forget to bring out the change. A pair of jeans would probably not work for a ramazan show after all, so toning up for ramazan works the best.

Natasha Ali

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

Transformed for good but just for a short span of time. She flaunted perfect hairstyles in the whole ramazan transmissions so not everything at the show looked as perfect as her hair dos.

Shaista Lodhi

Ramazan Shows - Transmissions or Transformations!

There’s no denying the fact that she has hosted lots of shows and maintained a good ramazan image everytime she has been seen in one. Forget acting, glaming up the shows is the fate changer. (If you know what i mean)

All of them are doing good at their jobs but Ramzan shows should be probably done by religious scholars not actors or models. Why are celebrities chosen over scholars?

Amir Khan and wife set for a reality tv series after the snapchat rant!

0

It was yesterday only that boxer Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom’s snaps went viral. The snaps clearly hinted on all the mistreatment’s and abuse Faryal has faced in all these years of marriage. She accused the in-laws for mistreating her and even trying to physically abuse her. She also claimed her mother-in-law has told Amir to divorce her when she was 9 months pregnant. Fans instantly reacted quite strongly and supportingly to her snaps and all the girls out there were glad that she did not sit back and tolerate everything but decided to open against all the wrong things she had to face.

But It can surely be no coincidence then, that Amir and Faryal seem to be launching their first ever reality show. According to Son.co ‘The pair look to have teamed up with new Sky channel Booom TV for a KARDASHIANS-style programme called ‘Home With The Khans’ where cameras will follow their family life.’

A source said: “Amir and Faryal have a big fanbase and love letting their followers into their life on social media, but a TV show is next level. After the events of this week Faryal has made it clear that no one messes with her or Amir.Their life is always full of drama. It’s going to be very interesting to see how that unfolds on screen.”
“Faryal is immensely proud of her family and won’t hold back, that’s for sure.”

Well, were all the claims made by Faryal real or just a publicity stunt for the couple’s upcoming show? One can only wonder what’s the truth!

Mahira Khan’s new tvc – original or copied

Brands everywhere are now setting the bar high by making sure their products are endorsed by the stars with massive following. This is obviously not the first time Mahira is endorsing QMobile but this undoubtedly outshines the rest in this latest ad for QMobile Noir Z12 pro. She in the tvc carried her expression and style elegantly and gave a clear reason for the fans to drool over her hotness.

Mahira Khan's new tvc - original or copied

Mahira Khan's new tvc - original or copied

The phone can be given a miss but not Mahira who looked extremely stunning in the glittery gown.

Well, to our surprise Hip recently revealed that Mahira’s latest tvc is a copied one and we certainly believe that too since it has numerous similarities to that of Alia Bhatt’s ad for Gionee S6. The whole direction is clearly swindled and it is a true disappointment because this was not expected from the creative team. Not believing us? Have a look for yourself.

But we still can’t forget the fact that Mahira looked immensely gorgeous in the ad.

Fawad Khan fever is high in the air since the day he was seen as Ashar in Humsafar and the heartthrob has been ruling hearts since then. He certainly is the most loved celebrity right now and is going to be back with a bang ruling the television arena once again.

The pictures of Fawad’s upcoming tvc are already doing rounds on social media. He’s looking handsome than ever in the shooting pictures. The pictures state that Fawad is probably shooting for an ad for Suzuki Vitara. The brand is surely going to ante higher this time with Fawad Khan featuring in the advertisement.

Seeta Bagri Episode 04 Review – Interesting Episode!

0

Ohkay so, to be honest, after the very first episode, this one was another episode of Seeta Bagri that I thoroughly enjoyed watching because now everything has started to unfold & the director shifted the focus on other aspects too. Now when the director has introduced us to the main characters & their backstories, I am sure he is now going to show us how their lives are going to unravel. Even though there is some sort of filminess to Seeta Bagri, but it still makes it a very interesting watch!

6 months passed after Ratan & Nandini’s marriage & looks like they both are pretty much settled with each other now. Seeta has moved on & she is still focused on her education whereas Ratan & Nandini, like a newly wedded couple are now considering starting their own family. Mala is still chirpy as ever & she is still trying to find ways as to how she can make some money so that she can stop feeling a burden on her cousin brother Ratan!

The event which I liked the most in this episode was the developing interest of Taimur & Aleezay in the Hindu community of Karachi. I really liked the first meeting of Taimur & Aleezay with Badri & his family. It shows that their NGO is working hard to bring some little changes in the Hindu community to be able to make them feel secured & empowered. All the things that Badrinath & Ratan had to say about them being a part of Pakistan was actually quite sweet, but what I liked the most was that despite seeing how peacefully the entire Hindu community was leading their lives, Aleezay & Taimur still wanted to bring some changes & wanted to help them.

I also liked how by showing Ratan & his good relationship with Haji Sahab, the drama makers have highlighted the fact that how Hindus & Muslims co-exist in Pakistan & peacefully at that. It was actually quite nicely portrayed that where Haji Sahab helped Ratan by giving him an advice about his personal life, Ratan took the matters in his hands when he heard that Haji Sahab was being pestered by the extortionists. This particular aspect has been covered very nicely & it most certainly conveys a very strong message about how people from different backgrounds can still support & empower each other just on the basis of humanity & brotherhood!

Mala wants to go to Dubai because according to her neighbor she can give dance classes & make some money. While Seeta supports Mala for what she wants to do, Nandini refuses to allow Mala to go to because she fears that this will create a rift between Ratan & Nandini. Nandini is financially sound & stable, that is why she is making the decisions in their family now as she knows that no matter what happens, she will be able to deal with everything. Even though it was random & once again seemed a little too sudden, it was good to see that Ratan was emotionally settled with Nandini now & even he wants to have a child, because seeing he love he had for Seeta, I assumed that may be Ratan won’t grow into this marriage especially in a setting where he’d get to be around Seeta all the time. It was also good that Seeta has moved on & she is not focused on Ratan anymore, yes, she does feel sad at times, but more than being sad or sorry for herself, she is happy for Nandini & Ratan which makes Seeta very respectable & admirable!

Overall, this episode was quite interesting. As much as Saeen’s character was unimpressive, the end of his character was unimpressive too. Also, Mala spoke about her dance class opportunity in the previous episodes too which was before the lapse of 6 months, so I found it a little lack of attention that even after 6 months had passed, an impatient girl like Mala was still stuck on the same thing. I guess some sort of progress should’ve been shown in her track too. The preview of the next episode suggested that things are going to become a little more complicated may be in the Hindu community because of the brawl Ratan will have with the extortionists, also Mala will try to elope but I am sure Nandini or Seeta will bring her back. All the actors have done a wonderful job but I enjoy watching Qavi Khan & Sarwat Gillani’s performances the most. I wish the costume designers had given Sarwat some more options for clothing because where Mala & Nandini’s outfits keep on changing & are quite nice, Seeta is pretty much seen in a singe pair of Shalwar Kameez all the time! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Seeta Bagri!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

The Best On-Screen Couples Of 2016

This year the viewers got to watch many gifted actors sharing screen space but only few of them managed to create that magic on screen which blew the viewers away and made their on screen couples memorable. When the viewers find themselves completely engrossed in whatever is going on in the lives of two people who are shown as a couple in a drama and they can’t help but root for them then you know they have the chemistry needed to make their on screen couple a complete success. There are some actors in our industry who are so capable that they manage to pull off every character assigned to them but they don’t always manage to click perfectly with the other actor they might be sharing screen with. Therefore creating magic on screen takes not just two people but a whole team which knows how to create this magic.

Writing and direction also plays a crucial role in make an on-screen couple a success. The characters, circumstances, dialogues and how all this is shown on screen determines whether the viewers will be able to relate to these couples or not. Sometimes the relationships of the actors with each other in real life also influence their chemistry on screen.

Here is the list of the best on-screen couples of 2016, the list is in alphabetical order in terms of drama title.

Washma and Shaheer (Aap Ke Liye)

This couple was a true depiction of ‘opposites attract’. Washma, a boisterous, loud, carefree, childlike girl and Shaheer a disciplined, mature, focused and serious man, actually came together and fell in love because they both completed and complemented each other in so many different ways. Shaheer brought Washma into his life because he wanted to prove to his ex-wife that he was doing just fine without her, but never did he imagine that he would actually fall in love with a girl like her as she introduced him to a completely different perspective and approach towards life. Shaheer never imagined that a care-free girl like Washma could actually exemplify what loyalty means.

Washma gives this entire marriage with the boss a whirl because of being on a look out for a new adventure in her life after getting rejected by her fiancé, only to realize what true love meant after being with Shaheer for such a short span of time. What made this couple’s journey even better was how they both realized that they were missing out on so much in life when they were not together. Washma, who was indifferent to everything grew so much into this relationship that she made Shaheer’s concerns her own and wanted to protect him from getting hurt. Arij Fatima and Faysal Qureshi shared the screen as Washma and Shaheer and elevated the level of the drama because their characters and their acting were only the good things about Aap Ke Liye. Faysal Qureshi and Arif Fatima had to make their odd couple look good and they most certainly achieved that by creating a perfect chemistry between each other with their flawless performances.

shaheer-washma

Haider and Mishi (Besharam)

Besharam drama definitely was a portrayal of a unique love story, but what made this love story shine more was the chemistry between Zahid Ahmed and Saba Qamar. The writer Sarwat Nazeer even though wrote the characters of Mishi and Haider beautifully, but what those characters unique and even more beautiful was the perfect portrayal conducted by Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed. Both Saba and Zahid are effortless when it comes to acting on their own, but together, having such a harmony and understanding in making their on-screen couple look realistic was something phenomenal.

The viewers fell in love with Haider and Mishi’s couple because of the way their situations were written and how they both worked, every step of the way to nurture their relationship. Haider and Mishi’s couple was one such couple that actually seemed normal because they did everything that usually all the married couples do, like have a conversation over a cup of coffee, surprise each other with gifts, compliment each other, discuss their daily routines, appreciate each other’s efforts, show respect and understanding towards each other’s decisions and most importantly, motivate each other to achieve their goals. Haider and Mishi’s couple came as a breath of fresh air because where everyone assumed that they will fall prey to the circumstances and will fall apart by succumbing to the external pressures, Haider and Mishi strengthened their relationship more by passing through all these tests. Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed surely looked comfortable with each other, that is why in all those couple scenes, they didn’t seem to be acting at all. It is safe to say that if it wasn’t for Saba Qamar and Zahid Ahmed’s perfect acting and beautiful chemistry, Haider and Mishi’s couple wouldn’t have made such an impact.

haider-mishi

Mohid and Anmol (Dillagi)

Anmol and Mohid were two powerful characters who were complete opposites and who proved very convincingly that opposites really do attract! The relationship between these characters was complicated and that was the beauty of this on-screen couple. The way these complications turned into a gratifying happy ending was another beautiful aspect of this drama as a whole. Although Dillagi had quite a few strong supporting characters to its credit but an episode in which Anmol and Mohid didn’t have one of those deep, meaningful and emotional conversations did not work for the viewers. Mohid’s conviction in his love for Anmol and his wisdom was completely different from Anmol’s rigidity and impulsiveness. The manner in which Anmol gradually fell for Mohid and they ultimately lived happily ever after without making any changes or compromises was just plain perfect!

Mohid and Anmol’s couple is in this list because drama serial Dillagi banked heavily on their “connection” and their scenes together. the credit for the success of this on-screen couple goes to the writer, director and the actors involved. All these talented individuals put in their best effort to make Dillagi a love story which was simple amazing. These two characters gave Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat a new introduction which is another reason why this couple should be in this list.

dil-lagi

Malik and Zarri (Mana Ka Gharana)

Even though Shamil Khan and Erum Akhtar were playing the role of supporting characters, they definitely took a front seat in terms of being the best on-screen couple in the drama Mana Ka Gharana because of the subdued yet amazing chemistry between both of them. Malik and Zarri came into each other’s lives when they both were going through a rough patch, where Malik was still struggling with the betrayal of his wife and Zarri still had the same feelings about Malik years after Malik called their engagement off because he fell in love with someone else. At first, Zarri did seem meddlesome but as their story progressed, it became evident that Zarri hadn’t forgiven Malik for how he left her in the lurch but still she chose to remain unmarried as she couldn’t move on. There were so many unspoken confessions which didn’t need words because both Malik and Zarri’s eyes were a declaration of their feelings towards each other.

Mana Ka Gharana was probably one such unique drama where the viewers were rooting for supporting on-screen couple more than the main lead couple because their chemistry outbid everyone else’s. Shamil Khan & Erum Akhtar portrayed the characters with so much maturity that the viewers became more interested in their track. If there’s one word that can describe their on-screen couple and their chemistry, it would be ‘charming’.

malik-zarri

Ramish and Elma (Tum Kon Piya)

This was the most unusual love story of a couple which was not meant to be together yet their scenes together and their relationship with each other was a constant part of this drama. Ramish and Elma’s love story was shown in a creative manner; those long beautiful romantic conversations were always imagined and Ramish was Elma’s guardian angel right till the end. Ramish’s character was delightful and believable, Elma’s character was quite simple and didn’t have anything new to offer but Ayeza Khan managed to make the most of it. At the end of the day it was Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan’s undeniable chemistry which made them a complete success. Also, Yasir Nawaz’s appealing direction and Maha Malik’s eloquent dialogues raised this typical love story into something many viewers enjoyed watching.

The viewers who followed this drama never had a difficult time relating to the feelings of these characters. In this relationship love meant giving the other person unconditional respect which also made the connection between Ramish and Elma unique. This was also one of those rare love stories in which there were absolutely no misunderstandings.

tum-kon-piya

Arsh and Meeran (Udaari)

Farhan Saeed and Urwa Hocane’s magical on-screen chemistry was not a coincidence because they are a real-life couple as well. Arsh and Meeran’s love story wasn’t just another love story either. It was a relationship between two people, one of whom was very willing to accept the other but Meeran, because of her past was unable to accept Arsh’s proposal or express her love for him. Farhan Saeed’s charm and natural acting made his character more appealing. Urwa Hocane was very convincing as Meeran as well.

Arsh and Meeran both had unique personality characteristics which made their on-screen couple more interesting. There were times when Arsh decided to stop making an effort and there were also episodes in which Meeran decided she needed to draw a line. The viewers were rooting for these two to be together throughout and the ending pleased everyone.

Dumpukht- Atish -e-Ishq Episode 21- No way out?

Mein nahin chahti ke aap dono ke darmiyaan jhagrey Aur bhi barhjayein… Kulsoom is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Bibi is showering her with sisterly love completely oblivious of her husband’s evil intentions. Kulsoom has repeatedly tried to leave but every time, she gets overpowered. Bibi is losing control over decisions and has accepted defeat at the hands of Habib- Zindagi mein pehli Martaba Habib be mujhe kisi kaam se roka hai.

Tahira takes the crown at being the worst mother to have appeared on our tv screens- this woman lacks the very essence of motherhood and has the nerve to say- Maa Aur beti mein Kaisa faasla? Kulsoom has tried to explain her situation first indirectly –Iss tarhan Ki maslihatein roz hoti hain mere saath… and then directly –
Barbaad toh mein horahi houn, aap logon ko nazar kyun nahin ATA hai… yeh admi jo mera sar nanga nahin dekh sakta kaise bardaasht karleta hai ke mere karey mein koi ghair admi aye ya Phir mein kisi ke kamrey mein jaoun…Woh wazifay nahin hotay…

This episode was highly disturbing when Kulsoom was pleading for her mother’s compassion and she was being forced into silence because for her family, Murshid Saeein can do no wrong and is above questioning. Tahira’s focus remains on her self and her status- Apni izzat bachanay Ki khaatir mein Kuch bhi karsakti houn… Tujhe toh Tera maqaam milgaya, usko bhi toh kahin pohchaana hai.

Kulsoom’s conversation with Bilal was heart wrenching- she knows there’s no way out and she doesn’t want to risk Bilal’s life and future by having his entangled in her mess any further- Mujhe ruswa mat karo… Bilal is getting the runaround for far too long and knows he needs to free Kulsoom but he is still clueless about Murshid Saeein’s involvement and fixation. I can think of a million ways for Murshid Saeein to meet his end but none would be so gratifying as watching him suffer a slow and painful death. I wonder who will eventually destroy this man who exploits people in the name of religion and what would happen to the lives of those he’s destroyed over the years?

One of the best scenes of this episode was Kulsoom’s conversation with Haroon when she tries to make him see the logic behind her private sittings- Murshid Saeein bhi toh ek mard hain na jo iss kamrey mein atey hein… Murshid Saeein mere liye na mehram kyun nahin hain… shaitaan toh har kisi ke saath mojood hota hai… I felt a shiver run down my spine as Kulsoom described the demonic presence and once again Sonia Mishaal nailed her performance. Habibullah’s entry was chilling as always and his suggestion of having another nikah was bold even by his standards. I can expect Habibullah to violate Kulsoom but I don’t see how he’ll manage to marry her? Or is this just a cover up to justify his illicit relationship?

Looks like Kulsoom will start playing games of her own by manipulating both Bibi and Habibullah simultaneously. I think it’s high time the circumstances change. What do you think?

Mahira Khan to be roped in for Raees promotions?

0

The trailer of Raees had finally released and we sure saw Mahira Khan in it. She had an appearance of about 20+ seconds in the trailer and looked extremely stunning . The makers of Raees stood their ground and did not cut Mahira Khan’s role fully in the movie as the actors should not suffer for no fault of theirs. They have kept their promise as Mahira is very much there and we are loving her part in the trailer. But the question which rose now is will she be a part of raees promotions? Earlier there were reports that Mahira will not be attending Raees promotion but the recent trailer launch event of Raees showed us a a different story.

In an interaction with media the director of the movie was asked if he would call Mahira for promotions of the movie, to which he said “If we find it necessary to bring her here and involve her in the promotions, of course, she will come. I don’t think there is any restriction for her from the government as such. Aisa nahi hai ki they have stopped issuing visas to anybody to come from there. So I think as and when we will decide to involve her, we’ll get her to come.”

Sang e Marmar Episode 15 Review – Sheer Brilliance!

Ohkay so, like all the previous episodes of Sang e Marmar, this episode was intense, interesting & filled with some amazing dialogues as well. I love love love how everything is unfolding in this drama, slowly but steadily, everything is falling into its right place. I love how after initial few fast paced episodes, the director has slowed down the pace of the drama because I actually think it was needed for the viewers to grasp everything that is now happening in this drama. I think it is because of detailing & somewhat slower pace that I am able to understand each & every character way better!

“Mujhe pata hai ke kahan takat lagani hai aur kahan hikmat”
, Gulistan Khan knows himself a bit too well. Gulistan Khan has not reached at this stage in his life through destiny or luck, rather he has achieved it all himself through his perseverance & intelligence. I actually find it so interesting that in the previous episodes, when I saw Gulistan Khan treating Shireen with respect & kindness, I knew it was only because of the favor he was expecting from her & in this episode, that thing was further elaborated & proved. I love how in this drama, the writer & the director have worked hard to make the viewers understand the ‘personality’ of all the characters, because this is something that hardly happens in our dramas these days as so much is left to the imagination of the viewers that they opt for their own interpretation, but that is not the case with Sang e Marmar. It is absolutely incredible that just in the very beginning of the drama, the director introduced all the characters to the viewers in such a way that we have no issues in understanding their thought process now & we know how their minds work.

It was too obvious that Gulistan Khan only has one thing on his mind & that is his grandchild, which he believes he will get because of Shireen. May be that is why Gulistan Khan sent Sherbano back to her home, as he knew that keeping her at his home will only create more obstacles & problems for each & every family member. I won’t be surprised if after his dream is materialized, Gulistan Khan will get back to Torah & Sherbano & will then settle a score because he obviously loves his daughter too. Also, this particular move of Gulistan gave Gullalai a safety net to believe that she is still a part of this family, just so that if Safiullah starts treating Shireen as his wife, she doesn’t have an objection with it. Gulistan Khan is a very calculative person & that is why, just a small step changed the dynamics of the house completely because he knows what should be done, when & how!

“Tumhare safaid nakhray pe appna kala haath tab tak rakhoonga, jab tak tum tarap tarap kar haram(?) nahi ho jati”, for the first time, Torah lost his cool with Sherbano & this is only because he got the edge with the decision that Gulistan Khan took in his favor & against Sherbano’s wishes. All this while, Torah knew that Sherbano had a strong back & he also knew what she meant to Gulistan Khan that is why he couldn’t harm her emotionally or even physically but just because this time around, his decision wasn’t in favor of his own daughter, Torah grabbed the opportunity to make certain things clear with his wife. Even though Torah has tolerated each & everything that Sherbano has said about him, he made it pretty clear that he won’t allow her to drag Palwasha into their clash of egos. I am sure this won’t stop Sherbano because she feeds on negativity & with the news of Aurang & Palwasha’s marriage on the way, I am interested to see the havoc she will create.

To be honest, as much as I like Gullalai, as much as I feel for her & I as much as I understand her insecurity about losing her husband to his new wife, I am not feeling her attitude & behavior with Shireen. Throughout the episode, I found myself nodding in affirmation with what Gullalai said to Safiullah & how she wanted him to accompany her to the clinic too, but to see her targeting Shireen & doubting her intentions was distasteful. I understand Gullalai’s insecurities because as a married woman, she only has her husband, whom she is possessive about to an extent of being obsessed with him, so for her to accept his marriage is definitely hard but after seeing Shireen & her behavior with everyone especially with Gullalai herself, how can she blame her for things she is not even responsible for?

Safiullah dude, you lost my respect. I find it funny how Safiullah’s ‘sabun’ is so slow that he is now taking all the right decisions at the wrong time. He now wants his wife to get medically treated that too after he got married to Shireen. Yes, he can not accept Shireen as his wife, that’s perfectly alright & also his love for Gullalai is very sweet, like it is really nice to see him doing everything to assure his first wife that she is still his priority but to see him mistreating a harmless soul like Shireen was sad. It would’ve been so good if Safiullah had taken a stand before saying yes to his 2nd marriage!

I must say, even though I know that everything that Gulistan Khan is saying to Shireen is only because of an ulterior motive, I actually enjoyed a few conversations that they shared. It was nice to see Gulistan appreciating Shireen’s opinionatedness & her fearlessness, because somehow he saw a reflection of himself in her, I know Gulistan Khan is just being nice with her for his own benefit but it was good to see Shireen getting some sort of emotional support in a place where she is constantly reminded of the fact that she is unwanted!

I once again fell in love with Safiullah Ki Ma (that’s the name that is being used for her), like how cute can one be, awww!!! I love love love how she plays her part & tries to rectify the situation in a subtle way. Even though she knows she has a very limited control over how things run in her family, she doesn’t stop doing the best she could to keep things straight & uncomplicated. Safiullah Ki Ma loves Aurang to bits & that is why, she was so not in a favor of the plan that Safiullah devised where he was depending on Aurang to take Gullalai to the clinic outside their village. Even though their plan seemed straightforward, Safiullah Ki Ma stopped it from happening because she loves being a mother to Aurang more than she would love to become a grandmother to Safiullah’s child.

It was actually quite interesting to see Gulistan Khan putting his ‘hikmat’ to good use & then hitting a bulls-eye, because when he told Safiullah to send Gullalai to her village, the exchange of glances between the couple showed how they were rejoicing at the opportunity they were getting without having to put anyone’s life or relationship in danger, but the next statement from Gulistan deprived them of their happiness as he told Safiullah to return the same day. Gulistan Khan is quite a player I must say & I don’t think apart from Torah, there is anyone in this family who can defeat Gulistan Khan in mind games!

Overall, this episode was absolutely brilliant. Even though I have said it time & again that Noman Ejaz & Sania Saeed are the backbone of this drama, in this particular episode, I just loved loved loveddddddddd their performances, like they have literally owned these characters to an extent that they look real to me. This is the kind of a feeling that I felt for the characters of Diyar-e-Dil like Agha Jaan, Arjumand, Suhaib where I found them too real & now this is happening again, where each & every single character, Gulistan Khan, Safiullah Ki Ma, Shireen, Gullalai, Aurang, Palwasha, TORAH, Sherbano, they all are just so so so real in my imagination & in my eyes, that despite being creepy it is amazing, haha!!! I loveee the house they have chosen as Gulistan Khan’s house, the clean & minimalistic furniture & the sunlit rooms just make everything seem so calming & visually appeasing. I love the usage of different sound-effects, like they have used it tactfully, without overdoing it as it actually adds depth to all the scenes. Also, even though he didn’t make an appearance in this episode, I am feeling so bad for Bulbul because he is getting tortured by Saif ur Rehman, awww, stay strong Bulbul!!! Sigh, the wishful thinker in me got excited for a second when I saw a look on Palwasha’s face when she spotted Aurang & Shireen together, where I felt may be she will back out but the news of their upcoming marriage in the precap put a lid on my excitement! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this beautiful, brilliant & amazing episode of Sang e Marmar. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Shehrnaz Episode 6 Review – Tough Times Ahead

0

Shehrnaz is turning out to be an unpredictable play which manages to hold my interest and keeps me looking forward to more. The twist in the beginning of this latest episode was shown brilliantly; first the director showed Shehrnaz imagining that she had won the award and then the reality. I must say I did not see that coming, it has been a while since a scene took me completely by surprise the way this one did. I was quite convinced that even though Naina Pardesi was the one giving the award, Shehrnaz will somehow prove herself and she will be able to see Shehrnaz’s potential. All those viewers who guessed that Naina Pardesi was bound to make things difficult for Shehrnaz were right on point and probably were not as surprised as I was. Now we know that Naina was being given so much screen time for a reason. After  finding out that her tailor was stitching clothes similar to her own designs for his daughter she decided to fire Shehrnaz’s father as well. I expected this twist to come in the previous episode but it was definitely more well-suited at this particular time. It was good to see Shehrnaz giving her a piece of her mind even if at this time she has managed to achieve very little in reality, she still has big dreams. This was however the first time that Shehrnaz’s over-confidence and outspokenness cost her something which meant a lot to her. The judges in the talent show weren’t as glamorous as one would have hoped for them to be. The addition of someone more stylish would have given these scenes which were written and directed a perfect look overall. Shehrnaz’s state of mind was shown brilliantly in this episode.

Sherry and Sara’s track got plenty of screen time in this episode. All of their scenes together clearly suggested that Sara did not take this engagement or her relationship with Sherry too seriously. Until now Sherry was the one who was shown taking his relationships casually but now the viewers saw him persuading his fiancé to take their relationship more seriously. Sherry’s character can be somewhat confusing and difficult to predict most of the times. This character also lacks the charm which should have been a part of it in order to make it easier for the viewers to connect to it.

This was another episode in which the viewers saw Shehrnaz speaking her mind and doing what she deemed fit without thinking of the consequences. Ayeza Khan’s overall look in this play is faultless. She is seen looking glamorous only when she is on the ramp or giving an audition, otherwise she sports a simple look. Even when she is seen playing the glamorous side of her character she makes sure that she does not wear something which is not in line with Shehrnaz’s overall personality. The only time when Shehrnaz is not herself is when she is with Sherry and I am not particularly fond of the vulnerable side of her otherwise strong personality but something tells me that it is this side of her which will take the story forward in the upcoming episodes. Once again Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan gave remarkable performances in this episode.

The preview of the next episode showed Sherry executing his plan to get back at Shehrnaz. I have to say that this entire track could have been far more relatable if some other actor was playing the role of Sherry.

Boxer Amir Khan’s wife bashes In-laws for physical abuse

The wife of British boxer Amir Khan appears to have made a series of claims that her in-laws have mistreated her. Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makdoom used snapchat to reveal all the mistreatment she has faced and spoke out against abusive in-laws. She did not specifically state that the messages were about her in-laws, but they were interpreted as such and hinted at by Faryal, who also shared a screenshot of her sister in-law’s apparent online abuse of her.

Beautiful Memories of Captain Janjua: Pilot of PK 661

A few hours ago, the tragic news of the airplane crash of Flight PK 661 that was on the way to Islamabad from Chitral left everyone heavy-hearted. Famous TV personality Junaid Jamshed along with his wife were also among those 47 passengers that lost their lives in this tragic plane crash.

While everyone is mourning the national tragedy and even though the names of Pilot Captain Salehyar Janjua and Co-Pilot Captain Ahmed Janjua have made it to the news, no one actually is familiar with Captain Salehyar Janjua. Captain Janjua had a Youtube Channel under his name ‘Salehyar Janjua’, where, like a true patriot, in order to showcase the beauty of Pakistan to the world, he would record the take-offs and the landings of different flights that he would take and post them on his Youtube Channel.

These videos clearly show that he wasn’t just a pilot but someone who loved what he did and was in awe of the scenic beauty of this place which was meant to be the last one he would ever visit. It is very rare that people enjoy what they do and film those moments with passion the way Captain Janjua did. He left behind beautiful memories in the form of these videos not only for those people who knew him personally but also those like us who never met him and heard his name for the first time today.

He is one of the unsung heroes of Pakistan who put his passion to good use and tried to make a difference by contributing the best way he could. Captain Salehyar Janjua must have never thought that after his demise, a lot of people will get to see Pakistan through his eyes.

Here are some of the visually appeasing videos that will take your breath away. These videos will not only introduce Pakistan’s beautiful routes and mountains to you, but will also remind you of the man named Salehyar Janjua who had no idea how deeply these videos will touch those who will now view them after his demise.

Please take at some of the breath-taking videos captured by Captain Salehyar Janjua:

Our hearts go out to the families of all those people who passed away in this tragic accident. We are certain that each one of them was a very special human being in their own way. Please say a prayer for them and their families.

Choti Si Zindagi Episode 9 Review – The Summer Break!

0

So, here’s what I think. If you are the sort of person who watches only the odd few dramas a week that have to be truly amazing – then probably Choti Si Zindagi is not for you. But for someone like me, who is not necessarily attracted by a stellar cast or heavily promoted drama, this drama works. Because its simple narrative, absence of scheming evil characters, actors and actresses that do not seem to be trying too hard yet help us relate to their characters made me sit back and enjoy this episode. Yes, there are a few scenes primarily those of Azra’s if I am honest where she is talking about Urwah that I wish I could just forward but the rest of the play holds my interest.

Poor Ameena. I truly felt for her today and yes some of us may have rolled our eyes over the onion peeling scenario but I remember the time when I was learning to cook and my mum asked me to brown the onions and ‘brown’ them I did so well that they had to be chucked out and fresh onions sliced and fried again, LOL. Ameena has rarely ever stepped into the kitchen and has always been lost in her books and games so the kitchen scene did add some comic relief. While Ameena does seem to be overly childish, I found her ‘growing up’ scenes in this episode easier to relate to. I found it hilarious yet realistic how she does what she is asked to do but she does not view herself as a sacrificial lamb who should suffer all and I liked how she said before going to bed that she was fed up of working and ‘ab nahin karoon gi’. Also, her letter to her mother and the reaction it brought was funny. Ameena seems childish and as if she does not have a care in the world but she is not stupid and is hurt when she overhears her cousins conversation about going to school and how she is made to feel like an outsider there.

pic1

While Ameena struggles with her onions and books, Urwah has (almost) forgotten about his marriage and although he makes it clear to Azra there is nothing between them, we see that deep down he feels differently. Sohail made me laugh today for he is that very real friend we all almost have who knows your secret and while will never go behind your back and cause an issue for you but does enjoy making you squirm by dropping double meaning statements here and there. I still do not see what Azra finds so fascinating about Urwah but I am happy to say that it is such a relief that she has not become one of those rich-girl- I- must- have- this- man characters – well at least not yet!

So Urwah is back home for the summer break and that means two months of Urwah-Ameena and although neither Urwah nor Ameena are looking forward to the summer break – I definitely am! I love Urwah’s father’s character and Tariq Jameel brings out the sweetness in his personality to perfection. It is endearing to seem him care for Ameena and try to help his wife and son understand her. While Taayi is not exactly very warm she is not entirely evil either for she thinks of Ameena as a daughter in law and can not wrap her head round the idea of a daughter in law that does not know how to cook, pick a plate from point A to B without dropping it or understand why she must go back to school now that she is ‘married’. Yet, it is nice how her husband tries to make her see different ways to connect with Ameena.

I am not even sure why Azra is being given the screen time she is now except maybe that Urwah may go back and marry her and I surely hope not. Or that her letter writing may cause an issue in Urwah’s home. I hope she is just someone who Urwah is momentarily fascinated with and who will gracefully take her leave from his life soon. I know we have seen a lot of Iqra Aziz lately and I myself have ended up reviewing or watching quite a few of her dramas and the overdose was one reason why I did not want to watch this drama in the first place but I feel she acted really well in today’s episode. I felt for her when her tiny form lay outside in the ‘sehn’, when she sat at school watching other girls whisper about her, her letter to her mother, and when she overhears her cousins talk to their mother about her. I am glad to see less of the loud crying and the comic moments coupled with those when we are given an insight into her feelings along with her accent – ‘isschooool’, ‘om-laate’ made her much more interesting. Shahzad Sheikh has been perfect as the stiff, awkward Urwah but I actually liked his outburst with Ameena where he shed his stiff demeanour. Last but not least, I know I should not be gloating by comparing myself to a teenager, that too a fictional one, but I could not help be happy that at least someone’s parathas are more amoeba shaped than mine! LOL.

Dhaani Episode 20 Review – Absolutely Boring!

0

Ohkay so, props to the director for crossing the 20th episode mark, which was probably his main motive because other than that, I don’t see any justification or rational reasoning behind dragging a story like Dhaani which has practically nothing left to offer now. I hate to see a drama which started off at such a good note getting down to this level where it is absolutely boring to watch & is being stretched to a point where it hardly interests me anymore.

Sameer is struggling & Niyaz is supporting him, so, is there anything new to it, no, because this is what we saw in the previous episode too!!! I can not believe the gang or the group of boys that once used to be so much fun to watch was becoming so hard to tolerate that I had to forward the scenes in which they appeared & yes I am talking about Raja & his friends. The needless screaming is a bit too hard to handle & even their conversations are so repetitive that I know they’d be obsessing over Sameer, without even listening to them! Yes, we get it, Raja & his friends want to protect Dhaani & want to prove a point, but I guess they have done it a lot of times before too, so there’s no need to do that again & again because it serves no purpose whatsoever. I think this was done deliberately that Raja’s character was reduced from being a supportive cousin to a mere goon in order to make Sameer look good & a better option for Dhaani because I remember there was a time when I was actually rooting for Dhaani & Raja, but not anymore. Also, I still haven’t developed any sympathy for Sameer’s character, may be because I have Hammad’s character from Khuda Aur Mohabbat as a better option, so I am definitely going to prefer Hammad’s journey over Sameer’s!!!

Bee Jee agrees to Amjad’s demand of meeting Dhaani once & I am sure after finding out that Sameer is the guy who Dhaani is in love with, he will call his engagement with Dhaani off himself, since he is too good & too sweet & too seedha & too boring. It is actually quite frustrating that Dhaani who was running the entire show single-handedly has just become like a shadow hovering around behind the closed doors. I don’t think it was a wise move of the director or the writer for that matter to actually make Dhaani invisible only to give Sameer the coverage which still isn’t doing anything for the viewers to form a connection with him!

This episode was repetitive & boring to be honest. I really think they need to wrap this drama up may be in a couple of episodes because they have taken way more time than required to cover a story like this, which is nothing but a different version of Khuda Aur Mohabbat. The only difference is that this one is going to have a happy ending, which sadly will come at such a point when the viewers will be leasttt bothered about it! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani!

Adnan Sami opens up on taking Indian citizenship

0

Adnan Sami who had been in news for quite sometime due to the recent controversies, had applied for Indian citizenship in May 26, 2015 and had finally became an Indian citizen on 1st January 2016, giving up Pakistan’s citizenship. As soon as he became an India citizen, he turned his back towards Pakistan and did everything possible to fit in India.

In conversation with Deccan Chronicle, Adnan speaking about his musical journey said: “I started playing piano at the age of five, and that was without my parent’s knowledge because they had asked me not to even touch the piano,” he laughed and added, “However, when my father came to know about my interest in music he supported me throughout.”

Reminiscing about his struggle to lose weight he said “I was never apologetic about how I looked. Because my relationship with my audience was of music and I always managed to please them. But, the change came in when my father took me to a doctor for a general check-up and after going through all my reports the doctor said that, it wouldn’t surprise him if my parents found me dead in a hotel room someday. When we were back at home, my father told me that he didn’t want me to die before him. My father has been my greatest inspiration and support system, and him saying this was a wake-up call for me.”

At last when asked about his decission of taking Indian Citizenship Adnan said: “I am a very emotional person. Koi mujhse pyaar se jaan maang le, toh woh bhi de dun. Indians have given me immense and unconditional love and I am very grateful. That was why I decided to apply for an Indian citizenship”

adnan-sami
Earlier this year in an interview with Times of India Adnan said: I waited a decade and a half for it. When you have been wanting, aspiring for something for years and you feel in your mind that you are completely ready for it, you are in a state of numbness because you can’t believe that it is finally happening. I have lived in different parts of the world and experienced a lot of things, but there are certain moments in your life which are life-changing, this is one of those, it is a milestone. Even though I have lived here for a decade and a half, there is nothing that I can express to tell you what it feels like because it is something that is phenomenal. Having said that, I will look at it from another perspective also. I have always believed that there is no such thing as coincidence and I have always believed in destiny. After this experience, I am now a believer beyond a shadow of doubt.

My belief in destiny was absolutely well founded because I was born on August 15 — look at the irony, it could have been 14th, but no, He made sure I was born on the 15th of August — so that was the hint number one. And then I went to study in England and when I was doing my A-levels, I had to write a thesis in history on any world leader. I could have chosen Napoleon, George Washington… I chose Gandhi, that’s hint number two. A lot of people were like “are you sure you are going to be doing that” and I said “yeah, I have an admiration for him so I did that.” I read every possible book that I had, starting from ‘My Experiments With Truth’.

And then God felt, yaar, he still doesn’t get it, go and shift him over there, so He made me shift here and created a home for me which I felt was as home as it gets. And then He created the desire in me that I want to be here because I spiritually belong here. Today I can speak with conviction that all those things were not coincidence. There was the Lord above, constantly nudging me — ‘you are at the wrong place, you have another destiny’ — and it was here and that’s why I kept pushing for it. My wife is from Germany, for example. I could have gone to Germany, but I wanted to go for India. I feel that a certain quest was there right from my birth, it’s just that the paperwork took 46 years. I am reminded of a beautiful dialogue in the film Gandhi when he is sitting on the edge of the sea, he turns around to Martin Sheen and he says, “I have travelled so far and all I have done is come home.” That was a beautiful line, and I feel so much like that today. I have travelled so far, I have lived all over the world, and all I have done is come home, that’s a beautiful feeling.

Kuch Na Kaho Episodes 10 & 11 Review – Ek Buzdil, 2 Junoonis!

0

Well. Pretty happening two episodes these were. A death, a wedding, a divorce and a failed suicide attempt! While most of the events and emotions running in these episodes were realistically presented, a few seemed a bit far fetched but overall the play managed to hold my interest for yes, we have in our minds established that Imran and Aina are to part ways but I like how the ‘parting’ is not brought about in a predictable manner.

The fatal heart attack was clichéd though but I liked how Aina’s mother asked Faraz to make sure that Aina be with Imran now. Given that Aina and Imran are married and she is now pregnant with his child it does seem like the only logical thing to do and she makes Faraz promise that he will make this happen without creating a fuss. Little do they all know that things are not that simple. While I could understand Sajal’s anger and blame game I could not accept her continued animosity towards Aina for she has been shown to be a caring and mellow person and if Faraz can be level headed and sensible about the situation and worry about Aina I could not see how Sajal could not get over her anger. Yes, Aina has dug her own grave so to speak and her actions were selfish but it is clear she is falling apart and even the suicide attempt does not melt Sajal’s heart. Her speech about Aina living as a second wife or like a maid shocked me as much as it did Faraz.

kpic1

Mohsin knows something is amiss but can not get down to the root cause. I have a feeling that as Sajal fears it is Nadia who will innocently come across the truth and then all will come out in to the open. While Emaad Irfani’s wobbling squawk takes the edge out of the scene, still his words made me feel for Mohsin a bit when he is hurt that Sajal should question his say in their lives. Aina’s mother has always treated him as a son and yes he is overbearing but it is quite obvious that he has played the role of older brother and his khala’s advisor. Anyway, while Mohsin nurses his wounds, Faraz does his best to take matters in to his own hands but he is not able to get through to Imran either.

You hear about love making someone crazy, figuratively yes, in books or songs but this drama has taken the meaning to a new level literally where Ainni bhi junooni and now Aina bhi! At least Ainni is consistent in her madness, but Imran and Aina are quite confusing characters. Imran has succumbed to rich boy pressure and has married Ainni but thinks he is very clever for she may have him married him but will never own his heart. My own heart skipped a beat in that scene for knowing how crazy Ainni is I thought she may just stab him in the heart there and then! But nahin, while Ainni and Imran play out Mean Girls (‘you’re so mean, so are you’ – seriously?!!), kaatna peetna in this episode was for Aina and she slit her wrist. I am not sure if we were meant to feel for Aina and her helplessness but she was creeping me out myself with her mad dashes in the city, yelling at the guard and then messing up Imran’s room. I suppose we are meant to see how she has hit rock bottom with news of the marriage and then divorce and while she seems to be still crying and moaning endlessly I hope this is to help her sit up and try to sort her life out especially as she now has a baby to think of. Given the immaturity and selfishness of her nature, coupled with the bouts of self pity, denial and madness I do not suppose she will change overnight but I am curious to see what she does next.

kpic2

Poor Faraz gives me a mental image of those messengers in the olden times who read from scrolls the way he comes upon the pregnancy report and then the divorce deed. I am amazed at how Mirza Zain Baig has comfortably fit into the character of Faraz and made us really like him. Asad Zaman Khan as the buzdil, spineless Imran has been believable, it remains to be seen whether we can relate to this new side he has shown after marrying Ainni. I have to say this little talaaq ki talwaar that Imran’s father uses to keep hanging over his wife’s head is as menacing as Ainni’s clenched teeth – there but ridiculous! Imran’s mother’s conscience is silenced with the threat of divorce where earlier the threat had been issued to Imran if he did not listen to his father. I was actually looking forward to Ainni being able to ‘take away’ Imran from his parents as in one scene she is shown thinking mockingly towards Imran’s mother if for no other reason but for Imran’s father to suffer for his manipulative ways but seems as if the tables have turned and Ainni’s ruffled feathers can not do much except stay in those flouncy tops.

I am really enjoying Kuch Na Kaho till now. I like how each character has a role to play and you do not feel that some scenes are fillers or dragging the story. It is fast paced and I actually will not mind if it slows down a notch or two for a couple of episodes only for at the rate things are happening, a sudden end will not make sense either. Does Imran plan to get in touch with Aina now – I really hope there is no ‘halala’ scene in this drama. Will Aina step up and try to be a responsible adult now that she has her child to think of? What did you all think of these latest developments? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 05 Review – Family Issues!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was on the slower side but it surely was interesting. I like the fact that they have started unfolding some of the pages from the past but I think it’s about time that the character of Kabeer is introduced & the backstory of Zakia’s past is explained because to see her play the victim card every single time is not too appealing!

So, Ghaziyan’s immaturity has already started showing its results. Ghaziyan told Waris that he wasn’t interested in Nimra anymore & like a concerned father, Waris visited Gul Zeb, because he knows that she is the only one who Ghaziyan listens to the most & she is the only one who would be able to stop Ghaziyan from tearing the entire family apart, but before that could’ve happened, Gul Zeb ended up getting hospitalized because all the things that she heard from Waris were a bit too hard for her to handle. Gul Zeb loved Ghaziyan a lot & she would hate to see him getting estranged from his father. Gul Zeb has suffered a lot on her own but when it came to Ghaziyan, she couldn’t tolerate the thought of anything bad happening to him, that is why she took everything to her heart.

Ghaziyan slowly & steadily started realizing that everything was happening because of him but I still don’t really understand his approach. I still feel they should have taken some time in developing everything because to see Ghaziyan from being too concerned & focused about bringing his family together to being concerned only about his marriage with Zubaria by hook or by crook seems a little unconvincing. Also, Zubaria has never said anything to Ghaziyan for him to create a havoc on her name, so not really sure what is it that is forcing him to take such drastic steps? The best thing about the entire chaos is that Zubaria isn’t oblivious of the fact that Nimra & Ghaziyan are engaged, so she wouldn’t easily allow Ghaziyan to turn her into a 2nd woman who wrecked someone’s relation to establish her own!

I absolutely loved Nimra’s take about this entire situation. Even though she is heart broken & even though she loves Ghaziyan a lot, she still is mature enough to understand that Ghaziyan is not into her & he is not interested in getting married to her because he has fallen in love with someone else. Nimra knows that if Ghaziyan will ever agree to get married to her, it would only be because of her mother’s stubbornness & pressures, which she most certainly doesn’t want to see because she knows that if they’d get married under such circumstances, Ghaziyan will never be able to love Nimra the way she’d want him to & also, he’ll lose all the respect he has ever had for her mother Zakia. It was good to see that even though Nimra is madly in love with Ghaziyan & she can not think about living her life without him, she is sane & mature enough to put two & two together, in stead of just pushing herself into Ghaziyan’s life!

As always, Zakia got the opportunity to turn herself into a victim & turn everyone else around her into a culprit. I think it’s about time that the director gives the viewers an insight into what actually happened in the past that made Zakia just so bitter that she can’t stand anyone around her except Waris & Ghaziyan. I think even after finding the entire story, I still won’t be able to develop a liking for a character like Zakia because she is someone who loves to play the victim card & wants to be the center of attention of every single person around her. I think she has spent a lot of time feeding on the bitter memories of the past that she is unable to see how it has been taking a toll on everyone else around her.

I honestly feel if the writer hadn’t shown that Ghaziyan was engaged to Nimra, it wouldn’t have made him look immature & selfish because nothing that he will say or do will justify his decision of leaving Nimra in the lurch because he fell in love with Zubaria without even worrying about what the consequences will be. Just because Ghaziyan saw Zubaria, he completely forgot all about Nimra, his fiancée, so it surely puts him in a bad light. Also, if the writer had shown him as a carefree sort of a guy, it would’ve looked even better because at first, he was shown as someone who was overly concerned about bringing his family together & now, what he is doing is not helping the situation at all.

Overall, this episode was pretty interesting but I really think Kabeer should make an entry in the drama now for us to understand why Zakia is like that because to see her sobbing like a victim doesn’t really sit well with me for now, may be if I get something that’d justify her behavior, then I wouldn’t mind her attitude but for now, she is off-putting. Also, in one of the conversations, Zubaria spoke about the conversation she had with Nimra, but we didn’t see that happening, I think in a drama where there was so much of focus on how complicated these immediate relations were, it was necessary for the director to give these relations & their issues a proper coverage, for the viewers to understand & grasp everything properly. A little attention to detail would’ve sufficed definitely. Anyways, I had a good time watching this episode & definitely looking forward to the next one. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Cheers,

2016 Dramas Worth A Binge Watch

Where our drama industry produces dramas on the two extremes of the spectrum, that being best & worst, it also produces such dramas that fall in the middle of the spectrum & provide quality entertainment to those viewers who tune to such dramas. 2016 wasn’t any different when it came to dramas like these because where we often discussed best & the worst dramas, we didn’t get a chance to speak about those drama serials that did well in terms of viewership & popularity. These dramas might not have been mega hits but most certainly kept the attention of the viewers intact due to several reasons like story, cast or characters.

A lot of times, people tune to dramas for the sake of passing their time & this year, we got a lot such dramas which could be labeled as guilty pleasures. Now when all those dramas have ended & if we look back, they qualify as worthy of being binge-watched because they did provide some entertainment & then nothing beats having an option of forward button with you while watching any such drama that you might find slowed down a bit at a certain stage.

So, here’s an alphabetically ordered list dedicated to those dramas that did well, provided some quality entertainment & are most certainly worthy of being binge-watched:

Aabro:

Written by: Qasira Hayat
Directed by: Ilyas Kashmiri
Produced by: Momina Duraid
Episodes: 23
Channel: Hum TV
Cast: Eeshal, Farah Shah, Asma Abbas, Imran Ashraf, Noor Hassan, Ahmed Zeb, Zainab Saleem and others.

Aabro scores TOP position in the list, not only because of the name but also because of the popularity as despite being a typical story based on the lines of ‘as you sow, so shall you reap’, Aabro gained a lot of attention & hit home with the viewers. Aabro most certainly qualifies as such a drama that you can sit & enjoy with your mother because it showed a transition of different characters in such a way that our mothers are most likely going to have a good time relating to them & watching their journey.

Aabro was a story of two reckless & immature people Aabro & Ali who get married only to face the realities of life, but despite living a very tough life, they shape the character of their daughter in such a way that she earns them their long lost respect. In this drama, the aspect that actually seemed appreciable the most was the focus on empowering your children with education but it got lost in the middle of the family politics & the focus on the marriage of young characters, but thankfully the drama did end at such a note where they scored some brownie points by reinforcing the importance of education. Even though, initially, the drama might seem a bit loud & typical, but after a few episodes, everything fell into its place & as the sufferings of Ali & Aabro increased, it did make the viewers feel a bit emotional & heart-broken for them. The last episode was quite emotional & done really really well. Noor Hassan in particular & all the other actors owned their characters however, Eeshal did receive a lot of criticism on her flat acting. You might want to watch episodes 17-22 in fast forward mode but the last episode will surely blow you away.

Bheegi Palkein

Written by: Nuzhat Saman & Mansoor Ahmed Khan
Directed by: Furqan Khan
Produced by: Blockbusters Entertainment
Episodes: 29
Channel: Aplus
Cast: Faysal Qureshi, Ushna Shah, Affan Waheed, Faryal Mehmood, Shamim Hilali, Ismat Zaidi and others.

Like most of the dramas in this list Bheegi Palkein isn’t grand but it is definitely worth a watch especially when you are looking for meaningless entertainment. Faysal Qureshi is the USP of this drama therefore Faysal Qureshi’s fans should definitely watch this one. Also the negative character played by Faryal Mehmood is quite interesting. Ushna Shah plays the seedhi sadhi bechari lrki with precision. At the end of the day it is all about gherulu politics and women fighting over a man but it gets interesting when there are a few twists which are brand new.

The chemistry between leads and the fast paced story especially in the first few episodes makes it a drama anyone would enjoy binge watching. In the later episodes the story gets repetitive but those parts can easily be forwarded when you are watching a drama online.

Guzarish

Written by: Sanam Mehdi Jarchevi
Directed by: Owais Khan
Produced by: Six Sigma Plus
Episodes: 25
Channel: ARY Digital
Cast: Yumna Zaidi, Affan Waheed, Javed Sheikh, Saba Hameed, Ahmed Ali, Sara Ashraf, Ali Khan, Maha Warsi, Seemi Pasha, Saba Faisal and others.

Guzarish has some amazing performances and quite a few powerful dialogues to its credit. There are some parts where the story gets weak but overall there were enough twists and turns in this drama to keep the viewers engaged and coming back for more. Yumna Zaidi’s potential has been exploited to the maximum in this drama but Sara Ashraf is the weakest link in Guzarish. It gets over dramatic at times but such scenes add more emotional value to the drama. Yumna Zaidi’s exceptional performance is the best thing about this play. Saba Hameed is another actress who gives you a reason to look forward to more. There were so many episodes which I watched only because of these two actors. Saba Hameed plays a rather negative character but does it with precision.

The script also has a certain kind of mystery to it which keeps you at the edge of your seat. Guzarish is the story of a love triangle with a whole new twist!

Jhoot

Written by: Reema Ali Syed
Directed by: Syed Ahmed Kamran
Produced by: MD Productions
Episodes: 21
Channel: HUM
Cast: Bushra Ansari, Mansha Pasha, Imran Ashraf, Kamran Jeelani, Nargis Rasheed, Rimsha Akmal, Akbar Khan and others.

Jhoot was fast paced, it had a few interesting characters and the best thing about it was that it was very real! Bushra Ansari’s character in particular was the highlight of this drama. She was shown as a controlling mother who is continuously judging others but does not always make the most just decisions herself. She finally has to face the music and that is when things get even more interesting. Jhoot also had a powerful message which was conveyed aptly. Jhoot is another one of those dramas which rose above other average dramas and made the viewers tune into it every week because of the cast and the content too.

The best thing about Jhoot was that unlike many other dramas on this list, it wasn’t stretched unnecessarily.

Kathputli

Written by: Faiza Iftikhar
Directed by: Asif Rathore
Produced by: Momina Duraid
Episodes: 19
Channel: Hum TV
Cast: Sanam Chaudhry, Farhan Ahmed Malhi, Samina Ahmed, Gohar Mumtaz, Anam Ahmed, Shaheen Khan, Binita and others.

Kathputli was a story of a survivor. It was a story of a girl who comes from a very oppressed setting but empowers herself with education & puts all her weaknesses aside to emerge as a strong & independent girl who makes her own decisions. What makes Kathputli worth a binge watch is the way the relationship between Mehru & Ahad was established. They both had a great chemistry & their conversations were written really well & were always meaningful. Kathputli easily qualifies as a love story but it was done in such a beautiful manner that it actually struck a chord.

Even though Kathputli had a 100% chance of showing Mehru as a ‘bechari’, the writer chose not to do that which actually made things a lot better & appealing. The way the director kept things short & to-the-point also made it a success. A lesser number of episodes makes this drama worth a shot & I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

Mana Ka Gharana

Written by: Aliya Bukhari
Directed by: Shehzad Kashmiri
Produced by: Momina Duraid
Episodes: 18
Channel: Hum TV
Cast: Sana Javed, Shehroz Sabzwari, Erum Akhtar, Shamil Khan, Ayesha Toor, Danish Raheel and others.

Mana Ka Gharana happens to be a story of a close-knit family that drifts apart because of the interference of an outsider & also because of the selfishness of a mother who only wants the best for her daughter, but the good thing is, she backtracks & realizes her mistakes. Mana Ka Gharana was the sort of a drama that had a very simple story but the right treatment given by the director made it a very enjoyable ride. The scenic locations & amazing chemistry between some of the characters were some plus points of this drama as well.

Mana Ka Gharana is that kind of a drama which you can have a good time watching when you are in a mood for something light-hearted & nothing too serious. Also, it was one such drama where the viewers were rooting for the supporting characters of Erum Akhtar (Zarri) & Shamil Khan (Maalik) because of their amazing & subtle chemistry more than the main leads Sana Javed (Mana) & Shehroz Sabzwari (Khizar). With 18 episodes to its credit, it can’t go wrong!

Sehra Main Safar

Written by: Sarwat Nazeer
Directed by: Azfar Ali
Produced by: Momina Duraid
Episodes: 23
Channel: Hum TV
Cast: Zarnish Khan, Ali Kazmi, Emaad Irfani, Shehryaar Zaidi, Lubna Aslam and others.

Sehra Main Safar was a drama that began at a very promising note but lost its charm mid way because of the pace that slowed down considerably, but by that time, those who followed it couldn’t give up on it as they wanted to find out the note at which the story will end. It was a story of a girl named Iqra who is pushed into the practical world because of the hardships that her family faces. This story revolved around Iqra & her transition starting from how she misunderstands her family, how she makes a reckless decision of getting married to someone insincere to her, how she realizes her mistakes, understands the importance of her parents & later gets married to someone who loves & most importantly supports her.

Not sure if it was pre-planned or it was because of the popularity that Sehra Main Safar gained, it ended up getting stretched & lost the charm by the time it ended. You might have to forward quite a lot of episodes because of repetition & not getting offered something new in those episodes, however, Zarnish Khan, due to her phenomenal & effortless acting carried this entire drama on her shoulders & deserves all the praises for that.

Thora Sa Aasman

Written by: Umera Ahmed
Directed by: Nadeem Siddique
Produced by: Mastermind Productions
Episodes: 21
Channel: Geo TV
Cast: Alyy Khan, Baber Ali, Zeba Bakhtiyar, Qaiser Nizamani, Yasra Rizvi, Ushna Shah, Seher Afzal and others.

If you are ever in a mood to watch something grim, serious but meaningful, Thora Sa Aasman will be the drama for you. Dramatized after one of the best novels of Umera Ahmed, Thora Sa Aasman had a lot of lessons to offer & was based on the theme of ‘what goes around comes around’. This drama had a lot of controversy attached to it & may be that is the reason it wasn’t heavily promoted by the channel but it surely was a drama worth your time. Thora Sa Aasman was dramatized back in the day on PTV Home & it went unnoticed, may be that is why GEO TV decided to dramatize it again.

The best things about this drama are the direction & the pace, because it has so many characters & the way the director introduced them, that too the right time helped a lot in keeping the interest of the viewers alive. Where a lot of the actors under-performed, Seher Afzal surely takes the crown for her flawless acting. Thora Sa Aasman was one such drama that left the viewers asking for a few more episodes because it seemed that it ended a bit too quickly. This is one such drama that will make you forget that you have an option of forwarding it because it is quite captivating.

Tum Kon Piya

Written by: Maha Malik
Directed by: Yasir Nawaz
Produced by: Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi
Episodes: 29
Channel: Urdu1
Cast: Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas, Ali Abbas, Hina Khawaja Bayat, Qavi Khan, Mehmood Akhtar, Hira Tareen, Shameen Khan and others.

Tum Kon Piya’s story is done-to-death and is certainly not free from clichés but it is not devoid of logic. This drama was far more engrossing than many other love stories which were promoted by some of the leading channels. Yasir Nawaz’s meticulous direction, his creativity and Maha Malik’s eloquent script made this typical story special. Also, there were quite a few twists and turns which took you completely by surprise. Ramish’s character and Elma and Ramish’s love story, which is more “imagined” than real is poignant and easy to relate to.

Ayeza Khan’s honest and effortless acting gives her character the much-needed charm. There is an undeniable chemistry between Ayeza Khan and Imran Abbas. Ramish Hassan, the role played by Imran Abbas, is that of a likeable hero who is not faultless but appealing nevertheless. Some of the negative characters will also keep your interest alive in the show. This drama is also shot beautifully.
