It was one fine day, when a picture of a guy brewing tea went viral. Thanks to the photographer Jiah Ali, who gave Arshad an opportunity to rise and explore himself. Arshad Khan has been getting fame since the very first moment, people not just in Pakistani but whole Asia went gaga over his looks. He was hired as a model, went on to do music videos and has signed a film too, and the recent one is a photoshoot. Famous photographer Azeem Sani recently had Arshad pose for a ‘wet look’ photoshoot.
In conversation with the Images, Azeem said, “When I told him that we’ll be shooting in the pool, he was cool about it. He said, ‘The water will be cold, but I’ll do it.’ I think wo shalwar kameez pehen pehen ke bore ho gia tha (he was bored of doing shalwar kameez shoots) and wanted to do something different. I shot him for five to 10 minutes in the water and uss ne mujhay tang nahi kia (he didn’t cause any problems).”
Still, Azeem thinks Arshad has a long way to go.
“The problem right now is that he’s very desi. He has a totally plain look and until someone gives him a proper haircut and wardrobe, he can’t be transformed. And he’s not easy at all to work with. I had to tell him everything, but he was listening to and understanding what I was saying, so that’s good.”
Photographer/stylist Azeem Sani weighs in on Arshad Khan’s potential, “As people like him and respond to him, Arshad’s getting more and more energy. He’ll do better with practice.”
“I see him doing better in commercials as opposed to modelling. He looks better chalta phirta (while moving). He has great hair, great skin. Shampoo, soap commercials can totally be his thing, even if starts with a small brand.”
“He’s only 17 years old, I want to see what he’s doing five years down. As people like him and respond to him, he’s getting more and more energy. He’ll do better with practice.”
“Yeah, he’s probably 17. You can tell from his body, it’s like a child’s,” he concluded.
Noman Habib is one of the finest stars and has been appreciated for his roles in many popular dramas. He gained more fame for his supporting role in film ‘Main Hon Shahid Afridi’. Noman announced his engagement early this year and exchanged rings in July 2016. The actor recently got married, as the Nikah ceremony was held on the 25th December in Badshahi Masjid followed by the Mehendi and Baraat. Pictures from all three ceremonies are out and both bride and groom look extremely good.
Not long ago, Hamza Ali Abssi’s jamming session was buzzing on the social media since his fans were glad to see him playing guitar. He’s at it once again, the actor along with his buddy Ayesha Khan jammed to Junaid Jamshed’s famous song ‘Aitebar’. Junaid’s death was a shock for the whole nation and the celebrities expressed their grief in every possible way. Many celebrities paid their tributes to the singer turned preacher and this time it’s the duo jamming to the song.
Actress Yasra Rizvi has been in acting since more than a decade, and has some successful work to her credit. Earlier this month she got engaged to Abdul Hadi in a private ceremony. There’s wedding bells for the duo now and they are all set to get married. Yasra and Abdul Hadi’s Mayoon were held recently and the pictures from the ceremony are already surfing on the social media.
These days most of ad makers depend on stardom and extravagance to make their advertisement different from others. However, Sprite’s tvc’s have always made an impact on the audiences because their first pick is food, and can make the audience starve for all those desi things.
The latest tvc featuring Momina Mustehsan is no different than other tvc’s but is still new in it’s own way. Moreover, Momina is looking extremely daring and spicy. Khol dey Sprite aur macha dey shor! #MirchiKoSpriteKar
This episode of Shehrnaz had tons of developments to its credit just like the previous one and at the end of this episode Shehrnaz once again learned the same lesson which she learned in the previous episode! Shehrnaz achieved a great deal in all these months?? I am somewhat confused about the timeline therefore I am not sure how long it has been since Shehrnaz signed the contract but her achievements (the house, the film and her father’s outlet) and her closeness with KK implied that this episode covered a span of at least 6 months. Even though Shehrnaz’s status has changed and with it her lifestyle but the developments in tonight’s episode clearly indicated that she has not changed as a person. Shehrnaz still thinks that telling someone that you love that person means you are committing yourself to that person. Even after the bitter experience she had with Sherry she made another mistake by trusting KK blindly. It is difficult to believe that Shehrnaz was living in a bubble all this time and had no clue that someone as famous as KK was married since the lives of the producers and director especially nowadays are like an open book thanks to social and electronic media. The news that KK was married was definitely a shock for the viewers but it wasn’t the most convincing twist in the story. KK’s feeling for Shehrnaz however were covered in a convincing manner. The viewers were shown how he gradually felt more attracted to Shehrnaz as time passed. The fact that Ayeza Khan looked stunning in a lot of these scenes definitely helped!
There was a time when Shehrnaz was not looking for a man to save her but now she is clearly relying on men for emotional support and this is so far the most vulnerable aspect of her personality. Like every other woman/person Shehrnaz wants commitment and love therefore it seems like she is going to put her foot down this time and demand KK’s attention and time irrespective of his marital status. Who would have thought that Ayeza Khan and Aly Khan would look good together on screen! Their scenes together were well directed and both of them acted brilliantly in tonight’s episode.
Sherry and Sara got married and hopefully Sherry is out of the picture now. Just like every other episode Sajid Hassan’s poignant performance and the father-daughter scenes were the highlight of this episode too. Every single scene covering different aspect of Naseeb Gul’s character held my interest and made me connect to everything he was going through. There were times when he was shown busy, carefree and enjoying life and there were also times when he felt like a misfit and alone in this new environment. His reaction when he spotted Naina Pardesi was one of the best scenes of tonight’s episode.
The person responsible for Ayeza Khan’s styling and makeup and the people behind her wardrobe have done a commendable job of making her look stylish and pretty. Also, this is the first time that the viewers are watching Ayeza Khan experiment with her looks. There is a lot of focus on Shehrnaz’s character in the play and everyone involved made sure that Shehrnaz remains the star of the show. Ayeza Khan’s natural acting, her beautiful looks only when Shehrnaz is supposed to look glamorous and her relationship with everyone around her was translated on screen impeccably in tonight’s episode. Although the last twist in this episode wasn’t convincing enough but it definitely gave me a reason to look forward to more.
Shehrnaz isn’t deep or meaningful but so far it is quite enjoyable. Ayeza Khan is definitely the main attraction in this play, she makes Shehrnaz’s journey come alive on screen in such a manner that the viewers can’t help but look forward to more.

Upcoming drama starring Hania Amir and Ali Abbasi is all to set hit the screens. The drama will not have a cliched story but will instead deliver a very important and practical lesson for girls of today’s generation. Titli’s plot highlights how a beautiful girl can be completely ‘unpleasant’ on the inside while an average looking man can have a ‘heart of gold’. Titli will be Hania Amir’s debut drama and she will be seen in a different avatar which is totally opposite from her real personality. Have a look at the teasers below.
Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was on the slower side but I had a good time watching it. They have started taking the story forward but somehow being a very simple story & sort of predictable characters, you already know what is going to happen next. I am definitely watching this drama for the characters of Ghaziyan & Zubaria, so I find it appeasing that they get a lot of coverage alone & together in all the episodes.
So, this episode focused more on the pressures that Ghaziyan was facing from all directions. Waris wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra. Zakia wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra & as if they weren’t enough, Kabeer has also signed up to the same petition in order to prove that he still is a father to Nimra. I don’t know why but I was expecting the dynamics to change once Kabeer’s character will make an appearance but I was actually not too thrilled to see how everything was pretty much the same after his arrival & also how Kabeer was on a trip of his own. Also, none of them seemed to display any emotions of shock or despair after seeing Kabeer in front of them after so many years?
I don’t really understand why every single elder of the family is fixated with getting Ghaziyan married to Nimra. They all have experienced a marriage that has failed on the basis of lies, which was Kabeer lying about the fact that he was unmarried when he got married to Zakia, so I don’t really understand why they can’t foresee how imposing a marriage on Ghaziyan & even Nimra is not a wise decision. It looks more like a game of ego, where none of them wants Ghaziyan to hurt their egos & succumb to the pressures, as it will make them feel secured about the fact that they still are ruling other’s peoples lives because that’s exactly what they all are interested in. Ghaziyan has always been truthful about his feelings & has been honest about the fact that he won’t be able to keep Nimra happy as he is not emotionally involved with her, but no one in his family seems to understand such a basic thing. I think it would’ve been good to see at least one of the elders being supportive of Ghaziyan or at least telling him that they understand his pain, but in stead all of them pretty much had the same dialogue up their sleeve, where they gave him a ‘waasta’ of their ‘izzat’ or ‘rishta’!?!?!
Zakia ended up slapping Zubaria because according to her, putting a blame on others is the easiest thing to do. Zakia blames Zubaria for everything that Nimra has been through, but she doesn’t have the nerve to blame Ghaziyan because she still is in a hope that may be things will get sorted so she can’t afford to turn a blind eye from Ghaziyan as her daughter’s entire life & happiness depends on him. I actually thought that Kabeer, like a mature man that he is will try to have a conversation with Ghaziyan & ask him about everything that he feels but in stead, he chose to put more pressures on Ghaziyan because all of a sudden, after may be a decade or so, he has realized that Nimra’s happiness means everything to him & he has to get her the candy she’s after by hook or by crook!
So, finally, Zubaria has started thinking about Ghaziyan, she has developed some sort of feelings for him but she still hasn’t been able to convince herself to accept his proposal because she can see how messy everything already is. Zubaria knows that crushing people’s lives & forming a relationship by ignoring everything is not worth it. Even though she has grown into the idea of being with Ghaziyan but rather than being emotional, she is being practical & rightly so, as she knows that for the rest of their lives, Zakia & even Nimra will blame Zubaria for snatching Ghaziyan away from them & she can’t accept that as a bargain deal of being with Ghaziyan.
I am not too sure what Ghaziyan is planning because at one hand, he told Zakia that he was ready to get married to Nimra but the very next moment, he went to Zubaria & asked her to stand by his side because he will then be able to protect her? How can Ghaziyan keep on backing out from his promises all the time? How could he easily forget that he just gave his word to Zakia & agreed to get married to Nimra in front of her. I think in stead of lashing out on Zubaria & then begging her to stay by his side, Ghaziyan first needs to sort the entire messy family situation single-handedly before approaching Zubaria because he is disturbing her & it is emotionally upsetting for her too.
Overall, this episode was pretty decent but I am not too sure what I feel about the preview of the next episode. Nimra is going to tell Ghaziyan that she never once expected him to get married to her by leaving Zubaria, but then what was she trying to prove when she tried to commit the suicide? I don’t take Nimra to be so immature to not foresee how everyone will start blaming Ghaziyan for her actions & will then start pressurizing him for swooping in to save the day by getting married to her? Anyways, I had a good time watching this episode & I can’t wait for the day when everyone will curb their egos aside & will tell Ghaziyan to get married to the one he loves. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.
Hmm, what can I say? While this episode started off on a positive and warm note, Azra’s tantrum and then the events that followed threw me off a bit. Also the introduction of the new neighbour who has her sights set on Urwah made me sigh in exasperation. The summer holidays finally came to an end and it was time for Urwah to return. Ameena seems to have fallen in love with her husband and I was given the impression that Urwah too had developed feelings for her, the way he is shown to be thinking of her when he heads back to university.
Last week when I saw the promo for this week I had seriously thought Azra’s ‘attack’ on Urwah was just a dream, correction, nightmare. Turns out I was wrong. The whole time that scene played I kept waiting for Urwah to jerk out of his reverie but seems like Azra’s patience had been tested and although I had not been prepared for that side of Azra, it appears neither was Urwah for he blurted out the truth about his marriage, as he explains to Sohail later ‘mein darr gaya tha’. You were not the only one, Urwah!
Azra – respect! She has taken her leave gracefully enough and realized that there is nothing to be gained by chasing after a married man. With Azra out of the picture and the warm, fuzzy relationship that seemed to be brewing between Ameena and Urwah I thought things will get better between the two. But this is what I mean when I say I was thrown off a bit for the timeline henceforth confuses me. Urwah’s parents are shown to be discussing that Urwah has not been home for a year and given how they also talk about how things are a bit hard financially, I could still understand him not going back home for a year. But Sohail later says to Urwah that it’s been two years since Azra left so really how much time has passed?
Ameena, although misses Urwah, has taken things in stride and is busy with her studying and helping around the house. I liked how Urwah’s parents have not taken her for granted and feel bad that she is ‘stuck’ with them while Urwah is away. Sohail was totally spot on when he said to Urwah that he does not understand him at times for neither do I, especially with this new request of not telling anyone at the factory compound that he is married. Why in the world not?! Also, the way he was so short with Ameena on the phone and her reaction made me feel really bad for her. If Urwah knows and accepts that Azra has no place in his life which is what he says to Sohail then how about learning to believe in that and move on?
And then this new neighbour, uff! A vailum vaili young woman with nothing to do but eye her neighbour and cook food for him and find ways to get close to him. I hope Urwah tells her about his marriage soon or as next week’s episode preview shows his parents decide to send Ameena to live with him. I would rather she show up and sort things out herself rather than meesna Urwah begin to lose his heart to another girl!
Given how this drama has shown itself to be different, I am seriously banking on that for the ‘desperate new woman in the man’s life’ scenario to not develop. Or for it to be nipped in the bud quickly! I know some of us really like Sohail and although I was not a huge fan I liked his acting today and also how he has shown to be a friend, helping Urwah out and being embarrassed when he tries to thank him. Iqra Aziz was flawless today. I know I end up praising her each week and believe me, I was actually fed up of seeing her in most dramas, especially since I was reviewing most of them so I am genuinely impressed by her portrayal of Ameena that makes me look forward to her scenes. Her confusion over Urwah’s short attitude with her on the phone, her emotions when he is leaving, when she tells him shyly she knows now of how to speak to her shohar, the sudden shake of her head when she is studying and finds her thoughts wandering, the green chapals, LOL totally spot on.
The music that plays in the background like when Ameena is shown to be settling in or when Ameena and Urwah are moving along with their lives is a very pleasant tune and compliments the general good feel of this drama. I hope Ameena and Urwah meet very soon again! What did you all think of this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Mohsin Abbas and Asif Raza Mir’s award-winning performances completely stole the show tonight. Mohsin Abbas has given an overwhelmingly solid performance especially for someone who is making his debut in dramas with a character which is not exactly conventional. Arman’s character is simple but Mohsin Abbas has made it so likeable that you feel an instant connection with Arman. The way this character has been translated on screen is a testimony to the fact that an outstanding performance can elevate the screen presence and value of a character. Asif Raza Mir is another actor who is simply flawless. He acts so naturally and effectively that you actually look forward to his scenes. The director Ali Hassan and the director of photography deserve tons of credit for shooting every single scene beautifully. My favorite scene in tonight’s episode was the one in which Mehmood sahab hits his son, I felt for Arman instantly and that slap was so real! Everything about this scene was perfect; acting and timing. Apart from Shaheen Khan who plays the role of Arman’s mother, all the other actors are giving performances which are subtle yet impactful. Kubra Khan’s expressions and body language were the best part of her performance especially in tonight’s episode but I felt like her dialogue delivery was somewhat rushed in few scenes. I am glad that Pareesa’s background story will be revealed in the next episode because the viewers need to know what happened to her.
Tonight’s episode opened with Mehmood sahab going back home. He confronted his son only after his wife went to sleep probably because his wife is already not very fond of Shehnaz therefore he did not want to give her another reason to hate her!! The chemistry between Mohsin Abbas and Asif Raza Mir and their impressive performances made all their scenes a treat to watch. Arman is a simple yet intelligent boy who right now needs a job and is focusing on starting a career more than anything else. He did not invite all this trouble and now that he is in this situation, he feels completely helpless. His conversation with his mother and sister about his proposals also indicated that he is not the kind of person who will be willing to play second fiddle to his wife. The situation which is being shown in Muqabil is unlike any other we have seen so far, apart from Dil-e-Muztar I don’t remember another drama in which a girl insisted on getting married to a man this openly. In this drama the case is completely different of course.
The fact that Pareesa did not back off but made a move which was even more extreme than before when Arman told her what effect her actions had on his father and Shehnaz, went to show that she wants to make these people suffer and she isn’t really “sorry” for anything. This was a meaningful scene which showed that Pareesa was most certainly not following her mother but she wanted to hurt her. Also, Pareesa’s conversation with her father revealed the dynamics between Shehnaz and Aftab. Shehnaz married Aftab because she did not have a choice and she wanted to marry someone she could dictate to all her life. Shehnaz is a controlling woman and Aftab it seems does not really “respect” his wife but he is a prisoner in this relationship. I also liked the novelty in Shehnaz’s way of “investigating” Arman.
The preview of the next episode will reveal the reason behind Pareesa’s decision and will show another side of Mehmood sahab’s character. I am waiting to find out how this particular aspect of the story is covered. Tonight’s episode of Muqabil was a treat to watch. Muqabil is extremely enticing and has some outstanding performances to its credit. So far, the story, the circumstances, the conversations and the locations give the drama a different feel.

Veena Malik had been a famous actress when she decided to devote herself to Islam and changed herself completely. She had been doing quite many projects in India but the light of Islam changed her and she choose the religion to lead her life further. She had always given the credits of her personality change to Late Junaid Jamshed, Molana Tariq Jameel and Mufti Naeem. Change in her personality had been an obvious thing till date but the recent one is completely different. She was recently spotted at a Dubai Mall accompanied by her husband and kids, but the difference this time was that Veena was seen in an Abaya covering herself fully and we must say the family together looked beautiful.
Shaista Lodhi has been a famous host since years and has proved her acting skills too with her latest drama Waada. There’s a good news for her fans because Shaista will be soon making a comeback as a host with a brand new morning show and she has got lots to share about the show.
In conversation with the Images, Shaista said, “I’m not going to claim ‘What I will do is going to be completely different’ or ‘I will do something new and never thought of’. Obviously we can’t always have something new, especially if you’re doing a show fives times a week. It’s more about how we do the show. Morning shows depend on the personality of the host. At least that’s what I think.”
Shaista thinks what sets her apart is the respect she shows to the guests on her show.
She says, “There is one difference that people have noticed and pointed out to me is that the celebrities feel more comfortable with me. I don’t pry into their personal matters, which is very common on our talk shows. I only go as far as the person in front of me is comfortable. ”
She further said, “I don’t plan on doing silly things for the sake of ratings. I find it very demeaning when a big artist is in front of you and you’re playing ridiculous games like ‘finish this apple in three bites.’ I do hope my treatment can give morning shows a better image because it has gone down recently with silly shenanigans. Hopefully my approach will be better.”
Shaista’s new show will run from 9am to 11am. While she hasn’t disclosed the TV channel on which it will be aired, she’s hinted that it’s “a channel I have already worked for”.
Upcoming comedy/thriller film Jackpot is all set to hit the cinemas in 2017. The Film is Directed by Shoaib Khan and Produced by Khurram Riaz and Shoaib khan; written by Babar Kashmiri. The film stars Javed Sheikh, Noor Hassan, Sanam Ch, Inayat Khan, Indian actor Reyhana Malhotra, Sana Fukher , Adnan Shah Tipu, Faiza Khan, Ismail Tara and Sajan Abbas. The song teaser of the film, featuring Noor Hassan and Sanam Chaudhry will be releasing on the new year night of 2017.
The producer of the film Khurram Riaz, spoke to the Images and revealed more about his upcoming venture.
“It’s a musical comedy that revolves around a lottery ticket that lands itself in one character’s coat. From there on it travels from Pakistan to Phuket, Thailand and back again to Pakistan, and with it travel other characters running after the lottery, from one country to another. That’s why the name is Jackpot,” he said.
While the first spell of the shoot has been shot in Thailand, the director is quick to mention that Coral Island and James Bond Island have been their choice of locations for the shoot. “It’s the first Pakistani film to be shot on James Bond Island,” he proudly claims.
“The camera unit, including the DOP, is from India. The Indian crew came to Thailand for the shoot and will also come to Pakistan [for the remaining spell]. As for the technical facilities, they were brought from Bangkok to Phuket, you can say that 80-90 of the entire cast and crew was in Thailand for the shoot,” added Khurram.
Meera has been attacking Mahira since a long time, be it twitter or news she would always find way to provoke people against the diva. Meera undoubtedly always finds ways to be in news nevertheless how embarrassing her comments are. Meera has mocked Mahira for stealing her projects in past too.
Just because she got chance to work with SRK that doesn't make her best actress at all.
She now has yet again bashed Mahira for her career downfall. In conversation with Express.pk, Meera said, “I have dedicated 20 years of my life to acting and have performed various roles. Now there is a particular lobby which is creating obstacles for me to receive more projects.”
She bluntly accused Mahira of stealing all the local projects.
“I feel that it is Mahira Khan who is behind this conspiracy. Signing up Mahira Khan alone for all projects is a big injustice to all the female artists in Pakistan who are more talented and good-looking than her. However, a particular lobby in the entertainment industry is preventing them from coming forward”, she concluded.
Mahira Khan on the other hand remains indifferent to Meera’s mocking comments and is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Raees.
The blue eyed social media sensation Arshad Khan, who rose to fame with just one picture that went insanely viral is lately getting many opportunities. The news of Arshad starring in a film recently broke out. It was later revealed that he will be playing a supporting role in the film. Seems like, the guy has many works lined up for him because he is now all set to seen in an upcoming music video. Singer Muskan Jay has signed him for her upcoming single ‘Teri Bayparwaee.’
“I have signed him (Chaiwala) with me because the people want to see him. He is in demand,” Muskan told Dawn.
The new track ‘Teri Bayparwaee’ has been shot in Margala Hills and will release next month. The song’s hook has been borrowed from Noor Jehan’s song ‘Teri Bayparwaee’.
Love stories are one of the most common picks for the drama writers since there is always a lot to write and we too love them, if they’re executed properly. Dusri biwi concept had been a famous one but somehow it was lesser to be seen this year. And coming towards the scenarios, this year brought in some really fascinating dramas, and i hate to admit but there were many dramas revolving around the ‘Love Triangle’ scenario.
Love stories are often interesting when there is a ‘third person’ involved. The third person would probably be a vamp or too good to be real. Love triangles can be really captivating if the drama has a different story and if not none, then at least less clichés. Not all the love triangles seen this year were worth watching but nevertheless, let’s have a look at some of the most tangled on-screen ‘Love Triangles’ of 2016.
1) Zoya, Shariq and Saba in Intezar
The story of Intezar has been one of the most annoying one, much to the disappointment of the audiences. It was a story of 2 wives and one man. Zoya is a married girl but her husband dies in an accident and that’s when the story develops further. The lead Shariq, falls for Zoya but has to marry his cousin Saba, because she was a physical abuse victim and was advised to marry in order to get over the trauma (sick logic). She after the marriage doesn’t want any relation with Shariq and so, he marries his first love Zoya. Then continues the new chapter when Saba starts getting jealous seeing Shariq giving all his attention to Zoya. Their story certainly ended abruptly.
2) Mannu, Salahuddin and Jeena in Mann Mayyal
Mann Mayyal had the most twisted and boring love triangle. Salahuddin and Mannu loved each other but the story takes a drastic turn and the lovers are separated. Mannu gets married and her husband is nothing but just a character to create some unimportant drama. Her husband eventually dies and well, Salahuddin wants to return back to Mannu but Jeena becomes obsessed with him and stoops low to every extent to get the guy. Every vamp in the drama dies and so does Jeena, she commits suicide. As every cliched story gets the lovers united, it did happened in Mann Mayyal too since it was a blend of nothing.
3) Saba, Irteza and Saman in Bin Roye
Bin Roye has lots of loopholes and unconvincing twists. Saba’s character has always been a reason for many viewers to tune into the drama. Saba a happy go lucky girl dreams of marrying her cousin, who is the love of her life but her dreams are devastated when he falls for her very own sister Saman instead and ends up marrying her. Saba doesn’t turn negative but still has feelings for Irteza, Saman on the other hand dies and now Saba is married to another guy. The question that rises is, Will Saba’s dreams ever see the face of light, well the answer is obviously yes since Irteza is suddenly having feelings for her out of no where.
4) Nida, Sikandar and Shama in Dil Banjaara
There are very few dramas on-air that have an impressive scale and Dil Banjaara is undoubtedly one of them. The story is of Nida and Sikandar who fall in love and share a beautiful chemistry in the exotic locations of Nepal. Sikandar has a girl waiting for him, Shama who is paralyzed but loves Sikandar unconditionally and is committed to him. Sikandar’s lack of interest towards Shama is quite obvious till date since he has fallen head over heels for Nida. The lovers Sikandar and Nida have now parted ways for the best. The rest of the story is yet to be unfolded so let’s see how their relationship grows.
5) Zain, Zara and Saad in Guzarish
Guzarish was a drama where one kept wondering who would the girl go with and the love triangle saga was found interesting by many. Zara and Zain loved each other but circumstances landed them in a totally unexpected situation where Zara has to marry her cousin Saad. Saad loved Zara since years and it was unbearable for Zain to see his lady love with another man. Though despite loving Zain, Zara decided to move on and gave her self completely to Saad. The ending was an emotional one where Zara chooses Saad and Zain too moves on.
Which ‘love triangle’ was the most twisted one for you? Do share your thoughts and feel free to add.
Momina Mustehsan who rose to fame with ‘Afreen Afreen’ has been ruling hearts since then. The audiences went gaga over her beauty and amazing voice. It was recently only when we got to know that Momina is the new face of Sprite and so, she is yet again promoting the Sprite’s #Mirchikospritekar campaign and we’re certainly not complaining because it’s always a pleasure listening to her.

2016 has been a mixed year for the business of the Pakistani Urdu movies. The early half (January – June) of 2016 was a bit disappointing as many Pakistani films failed to perform well on the box office. In the later half the situation improved many folds when the films released on Eidul Azha performed very well. The year ended on a mixed note when the films released in the last two months of 2016 again struggled.
This article is a month wise summary of the Urdu films released in this year. The collections posted are taken from the website boxofficedetail.com. Unluckily in our country the official business and budget of the film is seldom made public for the reasons better known to film makers and film distributors.
Urdu films main circuit is in the large urban centers of provinces of Punjab (mainly Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala), Sindh (mainly Karachi) and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). The most popular genre of Urdu films is comedy, followed by action and drama.

July 2017
The festive occasion of Eidul Fitr was in July 2016. Due to long holidays Eidul Fitr provides ample chances of film business and traditionally the best films of the year are released on either Eidul Fitr or Eidul Azha. However normally a major Bollywood film is also scheduled to release on Eidul Fitr which minimizes the chances of the business of the local films.

In July 2016 three Urdu films were released where one was released on Eidul Fitr.
The first film of July 2016 was Swal 700 Crore Dollar Ka (SSCDA) released on Eidul Fitr. The film faced direct competition from the Bollywood film Sultan also relesed on Eidul Fitr. Despite the presence of some seasoned artists like Javed Sheikh, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Shafqat Cheema SSDA was a poorly made movie outrightly rejected by the cine goers.
SSCDA was directed by Jamshed Jaan Muhammad the son of (Late) Jaan Muhammad Jamman. Jaan Muhammad Jumman has directed many successful films from 1970’s to 1990’s. SSCDA was also a formula commercial film with pinches of action, romance, dances, emotions and everything required to make a formula film.
SSDA was the debut film for Quratullain and Ali Mohiuddin (son of Ghulam Mohiuddin). The film was hugely criticized by the critics for its poor content.

The holy month of Muslim calendar Muharram fell in October. Traditionally no film is released during the first ten days of Muharram. So only one Urdu film was released in October 2016.
Another significant development in the October 2016 was the announcement of ban on the screening of Indian movies by the Film Exhibitors and Distributors. The Indian Movie Producer Association announced a ban on all Pakistani artists and Pakistani films in the start of October 2016. As a response the screening of the Indian film was also halted in Pakistan.

November 2016
November 2016 was the first month after a ban on the Bollywood films was announced. Four Urdu films were scheduled to release in this month where two were big banners film.
The ban on the Bollywood film was expected to be a positive one for the Urdu films as Urdu films now have more space and shows. But the ban impacted reversely and cinemas saw a massive decrease in the number of cine goers. During the screening of the Bollywood films cine goers come to cinemas in huge numbers and the same cine goers also benefit Urdu films. Esepcially the overflow of the Bollywood films benefits the Urdu films.
But after the ban on Bollywood films, majority of the cine goers simply stopped coming to cinema and no Urdu film performed well after this ban.

Do leave your feedback, which is your most favorite Urdu film of 2016? What are deficenies in the Urdu film you thing must be resolved. What are the strengths of our Urdu cinema. And what is your most favorite genre of Urdu films.
Ohkay so, this episode practically offered nothing. It was just a filler episode filled with a whole bunch of patients who wore off the effects of my coffee a bit too quickly. This was probably the slowest episode of Sanam with such repetitive conversations & scenarios that I barely got anything to talk about.
The first half of the drama was dedicated to one such character whom I have no sympathy for & that is Fatima. Harib was worried, Sara was worried, Shehroz was worried, Aan was worried & Shabnam was worried for Fatima. They all had nothing else to talk about & kept on discussing how special Fatima is to them. Yawn!!!
Shehroz once again proved that he is Mr. PPB (Ping Pong Ball), where at one hand he was telling Harib that he is going to stand by him & on the other, he was telling that Aila wasn’t wrong in her assumptions about his & Sara’s relations. Ugh, hello, for your kind information Shehroz, Aila & Harib are divorced, so why are you bothered about what Aila thinks of Harib? They have nothing to do with each other. I am actually quite tired of seeing Mr. Short Term Memory Loss Shehroz getting so much of coverage, like the situations are just so one-dimensional & just so so so boring but they keep on using Shehroz as a Mister Twister, who twists his words to spice up the situations which fall flat & sound just so bland like Harib’s favorite ‘anda paratha’!
Chalo jee, the best todka that Hakim Shehroz prescribed for Halaat Ka Mara Harib was that to shut everyone up, he should get married & just when he was about to take Aan’s name, their conversation was interrupted, like that particular moment made me feel that the direction & the approach of the director was just so old-school & outdated, like seriously wohi purana tareeqa drag karne ka, ke bas baat ko incomplete hi rehne do takay aur episodes tak stretch karne ka mauqa mil jaye! Yawnnnn!!!!
Shabnam is feeling anxious & she is unable to understand why Farhan & Nayla have turned a blind eye from her & Aan. Even though Shabnam’s instincts are telling her that something is off about this entire proposal but just because she thinks Aan has landed herself ‘Defence ka Rishta’, she is continuing to act blind to all the faults, because hey, who cares about the future of their daughter, all they should rejoice about is the fact that their daughter is going to get married to a guy from Defence. All this while I was thinking Shabnam had a heart attack, but the way the writer has butchered the bipolar disease, I won’t be surprised if the not-so-intelligent Mona Haseeb mistook heart as brain & made Shabnam so deluded to look like someone who just suffered from a brain attack in stead of heart-attack!!! Yawnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!
Also, can Shabnam walk & talk straight & can she comb her hair? Sorry, I have personally seen a lot of heart patients around me & Masha Allah se, they look nothing like Shabnam, because they don’t need someone to hold their hand while they are walking, they don’t stutter while talking & last but not the least, they don’t have messy uncombed hair. I love Shabnam but sorry, I was cringing at the whole ‘mai-beemar-hoon’ act because it was just so so sooooo off-putting! Yawwwwwnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!
Chalo jee, Nayla wants Aan & Farhan to get married ASAP. Shabnam is not thrilled with the entire idea but she is going to go ahead with it because hey, Defence ka GUGU hai bhai. Like I said in the previous review, I was actually glad that Sara didn’t prove me wrong & she continued to showcase what a DESPERADO she is, I was actually cringing with the entire Dupatta, Tasbeeh & Holy Qur’an act because what she was insinuating was just so unholy. Just because Harib was taking care of Fatima, she tried to use that to push her agenda that Harib has done more than what Fatima’s father Faisal has done for their daughter, so she wanted to evoke the fatherly instincts in Harib, to step into his life. I am seriously disgusted that I feel like puking when I see a bunch of desperados throwing themselves over Harib. Shame on the writer for coming up with such insulting & pathetic characters like Aila & Sara who have no shame & no self-respect whatsoever!
Anyways, please share your thoughts about this hideously boring & yawn-provoking episode of Sanam!
Aisha Khan has proved her acting skills time and again, she is currently seen in Khuda mera Bhi Hai and Noor e Zindagi and has impressed the viewers thoroughly. On the other hand is our diva Mahira Khan who is all set to make her debut in Bollywood with Raees. One always thinks that two actors can’t be good friends but these stars certainly proved us wrong and showed us a positive side.
Recently, Lifestyle magazine ‘Something Haute’ posted a photo of Aisha Khan on Instagram with the caption, “Kudos to Aisha Khan for delivering such an impactful and poignant performance in #KhudaMeraBhiHai. We could have never imagined – having seen her in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and MannMayal – that she is such a terrific actress.”

Many people on Instagram stood by the lady and moreover, praised her for giving amazing performances. “You must watch some of her stuff, she’s so so good. Watch Vasl, there was another one with Humanyun I’m forgetting the name,” said Mahira Khan.
Thanking Mahira, Aisha wrote, “Thank you so much….there is a reason why everyone loves you as much as they do including me. Ure beautiful….inside out….a true star! <3”
Aisha Khan later got into an argument with the magazine. In response to the magazine’s comment, Aisha Khan wrote, “A compliment wrapped in an insult is not a compliment…. A proper blogger would know that.” The argument certainly ended on a sour note though.
The trailer of upcoming film Isharay Tumhare released recently. The trailer seems to bring a romantic love story with quite many cliche’s on-board. The cast includes Syed Arez, Babar Ali, Hiba Ali, Saima Baloch, Javaid Sheikh Sangeeta and Saba Hameed. It is produced and directed by Abdul Majid Khan under the banner of Prodigy Art Studios. The release date of the film is yet to be announced.
The band (Call) which has been associated to music since years and reunited last year only is all set to release their new music video on the New Year’s Eve. In conversation with The Express Tribune, Xulfiqar Jabbar Khan (known as Xulfi) said, Call has been together for 15 years. “We are releasing a music video to celebrate the band’s 15 years together.”
He further shared how did the idea of the music video came to him, “It just occurred to me that we have a ton of footage from concerts, behind-the-scenes and other ventures. As I was going through them, I realised we could make a video out of them as a tribute to the fans.”
Xulfi went on to thank listeners for the support they have extended to the band over the years. “Call has seen a lot of ups and downs but our fans have stuck with us through it all. With this video, we want to thank them for their support.”
As far as the band’s future is concerned, there’s only one thing for sure. “The future of Call is music. It doesn’t matter whether we come up with singles or an album or just do concerts. We are here to stay and make music again. That’s the reason we got back together,” Xulfi explained.
The caught up into controversies film, Raees is all set to hit the cinemas on January 25, 2017. It is still unknown if Raees will release in Pakistan or not but the promotions of the film are been done in full swing. The lead Shah Rukh Khan is promoting his much awaited film in India where as, Mahira Khan will not be promoting it in India but managed to promote it in Pakistan in a creative way.
For those who have watched the trailer of Raees, will know how much Mahira’s dialogue “BATTERY SALA” made buzz on social media.
And now our very own diva posted a picture of her in a white top with the catchy line “Battery Sala”. This might be the strategy of the leads to promote their film and create buzz in a unique way.
In tonight’s episode the viewers saw Saba putting up with all those things which would break anyone’s heart and spirits completely, with a smile on her face. While the viewers know exactly why Saba is putting up with all this but watching her put on an act because she is trying to prove something to herself and to Saman (who is no longer alive) and also because getting married to Irtiza is not an option for her but what the writer completely failed to cover was Saba’s actual frame of mind. The viewers did not see her thinking about how she actually felt about the situation or the painful experiences she had been through quite recently. Also, she did all this like it was not effecting her in any way. While it is possible for someone who has lost somebody very close to them especially when they hold themselves responsible for their death to disconnect themselves completely for sometime but watching someone do that for a whole year isn’t something most people can relate to. Anyone who is rejected the way Saba was by Safeer and is insulted time and again should at least get depressed if nothing else! Watching Saba play the victim like a pro wasn’t exactly easy to relate to.
Iritiza’s sudden interest in Saba was another aspect of this episode which made me wonder where this love and interest had disappeared when he got married to Saman. Irtiza and Saba’s relationship was established well in the first few episodes but it wasn’t carried forward properly and due to that disconnection it is difficult to feel the same way about Saba and Irtiza at this point. Hamayun Saeed and Mahira Khan however make Saba and Irtiza’s scenes likeable and there are times when you want to see both of them happy even though this entire track has been handled poorly.
Safeer’s character is a lot like Mikael from Mann Mayal; a person who is only there to make the leading lady suffer. There is absolutely nothing likeable about his character and he makes my blood boil when he keeps on telling Saba what a big favor he is doing for her! Why can’t he tell Saba’s parents the truth himself since he does not care about the consequences? Why is he doing Saba this huge favor when he knows that Sonia will leave him if she ever finds out that he is married?
There was a lot of talking in this episode and many of the dialogues were repetitive. The only scene in this episode which was truly gratifying was the one in which Saba breaks the news to her mother in law! The timing was perfect and the way Saba did it was definitely quite gratifying. Saba’s mother in law is another character in this play which is quite annoying! Her double standards and her explanation for everything is confusing most of the times. Safeer has two children with Sonia yet she is looking forward to the day when he will leave her!
Bin Roye’s OST and Mahira Khan’s dresses and acting are the only two good things about Bin Roye but then these things are not enough to make up for the lackluster story and direction which isn’t as skillful or creative as one would have hoped for it to be. The preview of the next episode showed Irtiza finding out the truth in the most dramatic manner. It would be good to see Sonia leaving Safeer. The fact that Irtiza’s concern and love for Saba only surfaced once again after his wife died is sticking out like a sore thumb. If these conversations which show Irtiza’s concern for Saba were also part of those episodes in which Irtiza was married to Saman, it would have been easier for the viewers to connect to his feelings and the connection between these two. Also, Saba and Safeer’s shadi is too forced; Safeer decided he was willing to face the consequences only after he got married to Saba and Irtiza is only worried about Saba’s visa and all the other details about Safeer after Saba got married to him! If Irtiza did his homework before the marriage this wedding wouldn’t have taken place.

Mohsin Abbas Haider has an amazing voice, he’s not just a good singer but a brilliant actor too. We all know that today is the big day, it is our very own leader Quaid-e-Azam’s birthday and there’s no way we can thank him for the country he has given us. In collaboration with PTCL, two singles of Mohsin Abbas were released today, the first song was a tribute to Quaid-e-Azam followed by the second one which urges us to question our patriotism. Pakistani showbiz industry is filled with men who are multi-talented and exceptionally good looking. These good looks are god-given but all these models, actors and singers also work extra hard to keep themselves fit. Men in showbiz nowadays are just as conscious about their looks as women and with the Pakistani film and fashion industry growing, there are more opportunities for them as well.
This list contains the names of those capable and handsome men who have actively participated in different fields this year and who are bound to be even more active next year. There are many Pakistani men like Fawad Khan, Ali Zafar, Atif Aslam for instance who are good looking without a shadow of doubt but since they added very little to the projects in Pakistan therefore they have been excluded from the list. However, we do hope that these men will be seen on Pakistani screens, both big and small more often and will give us a reason to appreciate their looks and work in Pakistan more next year.
We truly appreciate these good looking men for giving Pakistani entertainment their very best. This list is an effort to appreciate not only their looks but also their contribution to Pakistan’s entertainment sector. Here is the list of the most good looking men of Pakistan in 2016 and it is in the descending order:
11. Muneeb Butt
Muneeb Butt is comparatively new to the industry but his attractive personality and handsome looks got him a lot of recognition in such a short span of time. Muneeb has become a familiar face because he has done a lot of dramas back to back and has garnered a lot of acting experience in a short span of time. Muneeb is definitely one of the most talented new comers that our industry has got.
10. Hasnain Lehri
In a short span of only two years in the world of modeling, Hasnain Lehri has proved his mettle. Only a few male models totally rock the bearded look and Hasnain Lehri is definitely one of them. The guy’s got killer looks – no wonder he has become associated with the best of brands including Sapphire, Elan, HSY Ali Xeeshan. He also bagged a Lux Style Award for the Best Model of the Year, and we absolutely agree!
9. Ali Rehman Khan
Ali Rehman Khan has recently joined the drama industry and is making an appearance on the silver screen too but there’s no doubt about the fact that Ali Rehman is one of the most good looking & talented actors of our industry. In such a short span of time, Ali Rehman has proved himself by experimenting with different looks for the sake of different roles that he plays. He has a lot of confidence which enables him to carry any sort of look effortlessly.
8. Shahzad Noor
Shehzad Noor is a super model who has a big name in the fashion industry. After making his presence felt in the world of modeling, he is all set to make his mark in the world of dramas. He has rugged manly looks coupled with tons of confidence and style. Watch out for this guy because he has everything it takes to make it to the top.
7. Farhan Saeed
We got to see quite a lot of Farhan Saeed this year; drama serials, dance performance at LSA 2016, music videos of the songs he recently released. But we are certainly not complaining! We have always been a fan of his velvety, soothing vocals and thanks to Udaari, we now know he can act too! Also, he is easy on the eyes, so let’s be real, what more could we want? We also love how the charming singer-turned-actor carries himself.
6. Azfar Rehman
Actor, host and model, Azfar Rehman is multi-talented and truly charming. This list would be incomplete without him. He is incredibly good looking, and we also love the fact that he can sport any look with ease and effortlessness – a quality that makes him a great model. Apart from that he is a natural actor who gives his best to every project he is a part of.
5. Ahsan Khan
With perfect facial features and an undeniable screen presence, Ahsan Khan deserves to be on this list. This year, we have a newfound appreciation for Ahsan Khan because he successfully managed to shed his chocolate-hero image, and viewers stand in awe of his powerful performances in Preet Na Kariyo Koi and Udaari (we still get shivers thinking about Paa Imtiaz).
4. Hamza Ali Abbasi
Hamza Ali rose to fame with his perfect portrayal of Afzal in Pyare Afzal. That was one such project that earned him a huge fan base and for all the right reasons. Hamza has a very good personality, an equally amazing voice and endearing smile which sets him apart from the rest of the actors of the recent lot.
3. Zahid Ahmed
Comparatively new to the drama industry, Zahid Ahmed has made a name for himself in such a short span of time because of his strong screen presence, unique voice & impressive looks. Zahid Ahmed not only convinced people with his acting but he touched a lot of people by sharing his weight loss journey, which showed his determination to make himself look more appealing and it most certainly worked.
2. Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas is a household name. Whenever we talk about good looking men of our drama industry, Imran Abbas is one such actor who immediately comes to mind because of his attractive facial features and chocolate hero looks. Imran Abbas is one of those actors who can pull off any role because of his convincing acting and undeniable screen presence.
1. Bilal Ashraf
Out of all the newbie actors and models we got to see in 2016, Bilal Ashraf is the most promising among them all! Why, you ask? With a towering frame and a smile to kill for (have you seen those dimples?), Bilal Ashraf has us fangirling over his dashing good looks. We’d go so far as to say that he’s the only reason why we don’t regret watching Janaan. He is film-material – no wonder he will be seen in five upcoming Pakistani films: Two+Two, Yalghaar, Waar 2, Jhol Film and Rangreza. Don’t know about you but we can’t wait!
So, here is the list of most good looking men of 2016. Please feel free to add more names and don’t forget to share your thoughts.

Ohkay so, let me get straight to the point, I am in love. I am in love with this drama. I am so glad after Thursdays I now have a drama worth setting an alarm for at the weekend to watch, enjoy, experience & review. The team of Khuda Aur Mohabbat Season 02 has completely made me forget about the Season 01 because they are showing the story in such a detailed manner that each & every character, their thought process, their stance, everything is coming across with absolute clarity, which is amazing! The drama-makers have succeeded in making the viewers feel the pain that the characters are going through, which is actually a must in a love-story especially. Thank you so much Team Khuda Aur Mohabbat for giving us an absolute treat on the weekend, it is worth every single second of my time.
‘Mazhab us waqt tak ki rukawat lagta hai, jab tak insaan us se duur rehta hai’, so, the traveler who met Hammad for the first & probably the last time in his life got him introduced to the concept of religion. He opened a window for Hammad into a domain which Hammad thought wasn’t meant for him & with this, the journey of Hammad’s self-discovery & reflection began. It was only because of that man, that Hammad mustered up the courage to step a foot inside Masjid, without having any know-how up his sleeve, because that man told him that no matter how flawed you think you are, what matters the most is your intention. Somehow Hammad got fascinated by the honesty & truthfulness with which he got to know that the religion, which everyone around him makes it look so rigid & hard to follow was anything but that. Even though Hammad had a point to prove to Molvi Aleemuddin but he didn’t put all of his efforts into pleasing him to score a win in front of Imaan’s father & in fact he put his heart & soul into it because he wanted to get familiar with the idea of religion & how it will change his life. Hammad’s intention was pure, just like his love for Imaan is, that is why he chose to walk on the path that he has never walked on before & that too with so much of devotion that he ended up making Molvi Aleemuddin anxious.
I loved loved loved how they began Hammad’s journey on the right path & how they showed his transition from someone who didn’t even know the basics as he was never taught about all of that throughout his life, into someone who was now putting all his energies into perfecting himself in every aspect related to the religion. What I loved the most about Hammad’s journey was the it was Abdullah who unwillingly was getting to monitor Hammad & was getting familiar with Hammad as a person. Even though Molvi Aleemuddin pushed Hammad away from himself by telling Abdullah to take care of Hammad’s concerns, he didn’t know that by doing this, Molvi Aleemuddin himself was giving Abdullah a chance to become Hammad’s supporter as the more he was getting to interact with Hammad, the more he was growing sympathetic towards him. It was actually quite beautiful to see that Hammad not even for a second tried to think that by doing all of this, that too in front of Molvi Aleemuddin, he will be able to move or impress him. Yes, Hammad did choose Molvi Aleemuddin & Abdullah as his teachers, but that was only to prove a point that when he decided he had nothing to do with his family, it also included getting rid of all the habits that might remind Molvi Aleemuddin of the fact that Hammad belonged to Amjad Raza’s family!
Honestly speaking, in the first season, I never once got to know whether Imaan fell in love with Hammad or not but I am so glad, the clarity with which they showed everything in this season made it a bit too obvious that Imaan felt a little something in her heart for Hammad. The scene at the railway station, where Hammad was carrying Imaan’s luggage was absolutely beautiful yet overwhelming. To see a man suffer to such an extent of punishing himself is definitely something huge & that is the reason why Imaan became restless & she couldn’t keep her eyes off Hammad as she was trying to grasp the fact that Hammad was so in love with her that he left everything for her & was now doing something that he isn’t supposed to do. Even though Abdullah might not want to admit, but even he can not ignore the fact that Hammad’s love for Imaan is pure, that is why throughout this episode, it was evident that Abdullah was feeling bad for Hammad because even he couldn’t make himself understand that a guy like Hammad, who had everything in his life could go to such an extent for the sake of his love. Then came the interaction of Hammad & Imaan, no words, just pure feelings being conveyed through eyes & some tears, absolutely beautiful, magical & the best scene of the episode for me. That was the moment when Imaan also realized the purity & level of Hammad’s love for her, that is why she was touched & moved. Simply beautiful!
I love the fact that Hammad’s aura & persona is just so attractive that anyone who gets to interact with him can’t go without forming a connection with him, that is the reason we see Ghafoor, Siddique & Kheru, everyone supporting Hammad wholeheartedly. For the first time, Ghafoor got to know the reason why Hammad was punishing himself like this, but being someone who has experienced the pain that love causes you, Ghafoor could totally understand what Hammad was going through & why he was putting himself through all of this. It is actually quite nice to see that Hammad now has few well-wishers who root for him & support him.
To be honest, I never developed a feeling of detest for Molvi Aleemuddin in the 1st season because I felt he was just a very humble & modest person who couldn’t bring himself to put up with the pressures of the society but in this season, I am not really a fan of Molvi Aleemuddin because his personality has been elaborated clearly & the viewers have gotten an insight of his thought process which reeks of ego & wrong blend of culture & religion as per his convenience. The note at which the episode ended was a decisive point for me & it sealed the deal that Molvi Aleemuddin, he might be really nice in all other aspects, but he was someone who would mix culture with the religion to find an escape for himself from awkward situations. Everything that Molvi Aleemuddin said to guy who posed the question about opting for love marriage went to show that he was just trying to prove his point to Hammad that no matter what happens, he can not get married to Imaan because he loves her. It is absolutely sad that despite seeing the dedication & honesty of Hammad, Molvi Aleemuddin is letting his ego get the better of him because he can not bring himself to admit that a young lad, who might not even have as much knowledge about religion as he does, is challenging his beliefs & is actually right in his own accord. Hammad has done enough to prove his love for Imaan & more than that, the purity of his intentions but Molvi Aleemuddin can not look past Hammad’s family background & he is a little shallow to be unable to forgive Hammad’s family for what they did & forget everything that happened in the past. It is sad that Molvi Aleemuddin is still being so judgmental when it comes to Hammad that he is unable to see how good of a human being Hammad is!
Overall, this episode was absolutely beautiful. I love the way the director has directed these past couple of episodes, where he shows on scenario but runs the story in the flashbacks, it makes everything seem quite engaging & the continuity seems perfect too. I actually really liked Humayun Ashraf’s performance in this episode, he surely has given Abdullah’s character a perfect treatment. Sadia Khan may not have many dialogues to deliver but she makes her presence felt in such limited scenes too. Firdous Jamal has acted brilliantly as Molvi Aleemuddin & he has maintained a thin line of not making his character seem totally negative. Now coming to the star of the episode & the star of the show & for me, that is Imran Abbas, oh well, I am sure no other actor would’ve played Hammad’s character the way Imran Abbas has & no other actor could’ve done justice to such a beautiful character. I’m certain of the fact that if it wasn’t for Imran Abbas, we would’ve never felt the emotions that Hammad goes through & the pain that he suffers, there is such honesty in Imran Abbas’s performance that just keeps your eyes glued to the screen & your mind searching for more. Hats off, that’s all that I can say! Thank you so much Team Khuda Aur Mohabbat & most importantly, Thank You So Much Imran Abbas! Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat!
The revival of Pakistani Cinema has brought many fascinating films. With many movies releasing back to back, the expectations we have are rising too. Film Thora Jee Le is one of those films which celebrates friendship. The cast of the film includes fresh faces Kasim Khan, Ahsan Mohsin Ikram, Ramsha Khan, Rizwan Ali Jaffri, Fatima Shah Jilani, Bilal Abbas and Salman Faisal. The film is produced by Mahtab Akbar Rashdi and 1Influence where as written and directed by Rafay Rashdi.
In conversation with The Express Tribune, Rafay Rashdi said, “Thora Jee Le is a film for the youth. It will remind you of your college days and all the fun you had. What makes it different is that our characters stand out for several reasons. We have seven characters and each one has a different story, comes from a different background and has unique traits.”
The director revealed that the main cast includes a party boy and a massive cricket fan among others. “So, we have a variety of characters and the audience can relate with them,” he said. “Most of us are cricket fans, for example. Similarly, a lot of things in the film are taken from what happens around us.”
He further said, “It’s all about the youth. We want to attract the youth with our film and we want to make a point that young people can join this industry based on their talent.”
Thora Jee Le revolves around 7 individuals belonging to different background. It’s a story about self discovery, friendship, trust and connection between friends, who venture on a journey of a lifetime, only to discover that, Fate had different plans for all of them. The trailer will release this Sunday and the film is all set to release on January 20, 2017.
I don’t want to feel like a broken record but I have to say that I absolutely love the way this drama is breaking some major stereotypes. Watching a divorced woman who was once stuck in an abusive relationship living a normal married life with a man who values her is absolutely refreshing. This marriage was also not an outcome of societal pressure or because Sanam couldn’t look out for herself. Sanam and Zahir’s marriage was a product of love which is another part of this track which is truly wonderful. Pakistani viewers need to see positive role-models in dramas which break stereotypes and this drama definitely has many such characters. While we are getting to see the extreme biased against children who are not gender-specific, we are also watching someone like Bubble Mian helping out, making himself useful and being accepted. Nowadays we read news every other day in which people like Bubble Mian are put through the worst of ordeals only because they are considered lesser humans therefore this topic is also quite relevant. Mahi’s dialogues are always on point because they show her way of thinking and the bigger goal she is trying to achieve quite clearly.
Arshi’s character is negative but even then she has not been shown as someone who has ever lied or manipulated a situation in her favor by “staging” an event or situation. Her dialogues and actions tonight once again proved that she is so ignorant that she thinks that there is nothing wrong with the way she views relationships. By the end of this episode however it seemed like she might go along with her friend’s plan. It has been six years since Zain and Mahi were separated and I must say that it is difficult to relate to this particular situation since they meet in the office on daily basis yet there has been absolutely no development in their relationship nor have they decided to leave each other.
Aly Khan’s character is another positive addition to this drama. This character is not like any other role Aly Khan has played till date but he fits perfectly in it. Mikael’s initial reaction, his thoughts about what Mahi told him and later on his final decision was covered well in this episode. I am looking forward to how he influences Noor’s personality and what role does his character play in the future since it would be natural for Mahi to get close to someone who is so accepting of her child and goes out of his way to help her out. Both the meetings between Mikael and Mahi were very emotional. The only aspect which I didn’t quite understand was that why was Mahi looking for Mikael’s address so desperately because in the end she found him in the same place where she had met him before.
It is absolutely refreshing watching an independent woman like Mahi in this drama and it is equally nice watching men like Zahir, his father and Mikael who break stereotypes in more ways than one. The marriages in this drama are also quite different from the typical marriages with all the clichés attached to them which we see in our dramas all the time. This drama also has some solid performances to its credit. Watching Aisha Khan play a role which has tons of potential is definitely a treat. Mariam Saleem is also a good addition to this play and the drama industry.
Watching Hira Tareen playing the role of Kashmala felt like Deja Vu! When Arshi was talking about Kashmala, it reminded me of Sunbal’s character in Tum Kon Piya because in TKP too I kept on wondering why a beautiful, intelligent, modern girl from an affluent family had to be so desperate! Hira Tareen will be playing a similar role yet again and I am already thinking why someone like her would be so interested in a married man with a kid who loves his wife! So far all the tracks in KMBH have been handled well therefore I hope that this one too will be free of clichés.
