There was a time when getting recognized and famous required a great deal of effort. The actors, models and singers had fierce competition to be part of limited projects and there was no social media or PR to help these celebrities reach every household in the easiest way possible. Back in the day, the people who used to get famous or those who became celebrities had some talent, some craft up their sleeves to prove their position in the industry and those celebrities focused more on their skill rather than the fame which came with the territory. Those people didn’t really have any shortcuts to the fame and a constant and consistent hard work was a prerequisite for them to establish themselves. Back then, those who became public figures and celebrities put their blood sweat and tears to materialize their dream because their objective was to channel out the inner artist in them, but that is not the case anymore because the focus has shifted and everyone has become a bit too commercial. It by no means is being implied that the celebrities these days are talent-free, but in most cases it has become easier to become a celebrity even if someone has limited or next to zero ability.
Nowadays, there are innumerable television channels and so many new production houses which are constantly searching for talent therefore an aspiring actor, singer or model has more opportunities to get work. While there are many actors, models and singers who have worked really hard to get recognition and respect from people, there are many more who are neither talented actors nor good singers but they are equally “famous”, well-recognized and definitely enjoy celebrity status if not star status! They are also those “celebrities” who are only famous because they are social media sensations. These people don’t have any particular talent but somehow they managed to get popular because they know how to get people’s attention. Some actors, singers and models have very few projects to their credit, they have hardly worked in any quality projects yet they are in the news and even have a massive following because they used the right “tools” to get recognized! In short, gone are the days when talent alone could make a person popular because getting famous is as easy as pie now!!! When everything else fails there is always You Tube!
There are also those celebrities who do have a few good projects to their credit but they also exploit social media handles to the maximum in order to get attention from the public when their work isn’t enough to get them the attention they want. Also, there are some celebrities who bank on social media more than their performances.
Here are some easy ways (read shortcuts) which many people follow nowadays to get famous:
Post Some Cute Pictures On Social Media…Make People Fall In Love With Your Lifestyle!!!
Yes! Believe it or not there are tons of people on instagram who have a massive following only because they post cute pictures!! The thing with social media is that it is so convenient to make the perfect image of yourself in people’s mind by posting things which show that no one has a better life than you and there is no person more perfect than you. There are some actors and singers even who only have a few projects to their credit and they never really proved their mettle through their work yet they are social media sensations and are considered celebrities because of the likes on their social media pages and yes, they take pride in their ‘fan following’ too by bragging about the numbers. Also, there are many agencies who are more than willing to offer work to these people because they rule social media and this is how these celebrities get to stay in the public eye by using their following! Whether you have talent or not if you are a social media sensation you will get the recognition you don’t deserve!
Wear Expensive Clothes And Show Up On Mega Events…Hang Out With The “Cool” Crowd! If You Have Rich And Famous Parents, Even Better!
Believe it or not people “look forward” to what a certain person will be wearing at a big event and envy them for their lifestyle! There are many people who were born with a silver spoon and have parents who made a name for themselves therefore being so and so’s child and being social can make anyone a celebrity instantly! While most people know better, there are tons of people who envy such people’s lifestyles and make them pretty famous. As a result the magazines and blogs cover the lifestyle of these people like its headline news! Hanging out with the in and cool crowd also gets your enough attention to be a mini celebrity in the world of social media!
Stay Made up And Heavily Edited All The Time!
Since it is so easy to make people fall in love with some unique hair color, pore less skin and pearlescent complexion and made-up beauty, these celebrities rely heavily on Photoshop and Filters. People will hardly come across any such picture of these celebrities that would not be retouched or filtered. These celebrities would never ever post their bare-faced selfie because that would reveal all the secrets. They want to make-believe their followers that they are always ‘this’ perfect or in other words, they were born this way, that is why they lie to their fans into believing that they are flawless!
The Right PR Is The Key To Stardom…The Image Sometimes Is More Important Than The Actual Work You Do!
This is a bitter truth! We have had examples of some “stars” recently who are not immensely talented but have the right PR therefore there is always a hype surrounding their projects. These PR agents also make sure that the newspapers, blogs and magazines give these individuals the right kind of attention. They are well looked after and this helps people fall in love with them. Also, no matter how talented a person is unless they have the proper PR they can’t get very far because the competition is fierce! Nowadays, the PR gurus take over actors, singer or models with potential and it is only then that they become proper stars. Proper marketing and PR ensures that half the battle is won even before a project airs on the television or cinema screens.
A Sentimental Status To The Rescue…..Rant About Heavy Subjects And Voila!
If a celebrity is not getting enough attention, the easiest way of getting some attention from the public is to post sentimental statuses on any of the social media handles. There are times when these statuses come from the heart and then there are other celebrities who are constantly relying on sentiments alone to get people’s attention and support. Very often religion and patriotism are two favorite topics used by such celebrities and they always work like magic.
Body-shaming, woman empowerment, or let’s say being criticized for their choices evokes a lengthy status from such celebrities and it is enough to stir the pot because it most certainly works. Under such status updates you will find two groups of people where one will be of the defendants and the other will be of the attackers, where people literally waste their energies by getting so involved in these comment wars, they forget that the celebrity which posted the update is the one getting benefited from it the most because all of a sudden numerous articles get published about them and they come into the limelight. These days, it is like these celebrities have made a habit of posting their rants about trivial things because it gets them the attention they yearn for.
Provocative Statuses And Videos…..Controversy Sells!
There are people out there who only have provocative videos and statuses to their credit yet they are so popular and talked about! Yes! People aren’t always praises for them, in fact most often they face tons of criticism but that doesn’t mean the public will stop tuning into their videos or following them!! The sad fact is that the public in our country in general follows the same people they criticize. Some people make themselves controversial only because they know that they will get even more attention if they do not fit in! The fact is that controversy sells, it makes people inquisitive and controversial people become popular even if isn’t in a good sense only because people choose not to ignore these attention-seeking tactics!
If You Have Zero Talent Then Try To Get Famous For All The Wrong Reasons
Yes, it is as simple as that. These ‘celebrities’ might not be a good singer, or they might not even know how to act, but having a camera and an internet connection is enough for them to become an overnight sensation because it doesn’t matter if they turn themselves into a laughing stock, it just takes a few shares to get attention and yes, they make the most of ‘share’ option on the social media. It may be the worst song they could ever sing or meaningless commentary on random things that they do, it gets them somewhere, easy right?
What do you think about these points? Don’t you think people need to think twice before they like or follow a page or click on a video since after all they are the ones giving these people the attention they are so desperately looking for! Also, since these celebrities rely so much on their social media following, isn’t it important for them to be as transparent as possible?
Do share your thoughts on who do you think these celebrities are by naming them and what do you think about their shortcuts?
So this episode was mainly about Hadi’s confusion as to what could make someone unafraid of him. He is basically a megalomaniac (someone who thrives on feeling powerful) whose whole world is shattered when a vulnerable young middle class girl stands up to face him. There were a lot of important issues raised in this episode, but the one things that deserves appreciation is Sana Javed’s acting. She did really well in this episode. Her dialogues when Hadi confronted him were on spot and delivered immaculately. The courage was not only conveyed through words but her body language, her stance, her eyes and that really made it a powerful scene. In her own way, she has become a thorn in Mir Hadi’s side, who is introduced to a new type of human beings that he did not know existed, those who still believes there is someone up high who controls all decisions and who are unafraid of everyone but Him. Till now he has only seen meeklings to whom he and his father are the only gods they know.
While Sana’s character is quite precise and inspiring, Feroze Khan is seeming like a psychopath altogether. Bothered by someone who wants to forget he even existed is the case of an extremely insecure and unstable person. On top of that, there is this glaring class difference where one girl has to leave her studies and work two jobs while travelling on public transport, and then there is this man who has the luxury of time and money to just aimlessly roam the streets in search of his newfound obsession in a brand new Jeep with armed servants. If they are trying to make Hadi’s character the shallowest, the weakest and very despicable, then the writer and director are on spot. However, the promo showed him using the word payar, which I hope is not what it will turn into, or atleast it will remain one sided if Hadi is deluded enough to believe it is love that he is in.
Rest of the episode was also not too bad. Khaani’s parents were totally supportive of their daughter’s decision of getting a job so they can make ends meet after the father’s paralysis. Salma Hassan and Sana Javed are a perfect mother daughter duo ; strong, independent yet very kind and caring. Saman Ansari is consistently doing well as the shallow , fake and selfish Sitara and so is Mehmood Aslam.
The last scene was well written and executed. Sarim had planned a surprise for Khaani which their younger sisters had to give her in very sad circumstances. As Khaani opened the thoughtful gifts, all three of them got wrapped up in their own grief for their loving brother who has gone too soon from their lives, but especially Khaani who shared a special bond with him that only twins can understand.
Stay tuned for the next episode of this drama that is now picking pace and improving in dramatization too.
Amir Khan has just been evicted from I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, making him the seventh contestant to leave the show, reported Daily Mail.
Amir said his goodbyes when he was named as the next celebrity to be evicted. Leaving Jamie Lomas, Jennie McAlbine, Georgia Toffolo and Iain behind, Amir headed over to speak to Ant and Dec.
“I’ve had such a great time. I never expected it to be so good as I’ve never seen it but I conquered my fears and had the best time. I feared sleeping outside. I didn’t want to be around trees but now, I can be around trees.”
Leaving the show on his birthday, Amir stated,
“It was wonderful to spend my 31st birthday with an amazing team. I’ll remember that for life and tell my kids that I spent it in the jungle. Who else can say that?”
Also referring to his surprising lack of knowledge, Amir joked that he learnt a lot on the show such as
“there’s a woman prime minister and there’s cheese in cheesecake.”
As the boxer walked down the bridge, he was greeted by his father. However, wife Faryal Makhdoom was no where to be seen. She did appear on a TV show saying that she can’t wait to have her husband back home.
Pakistani film industry has seen it’s worst in the last two decades but this decade not only brought the revival of mainstream cinema but will also be reviving our cinema at a more grass root level. Film-maker Jami Mahmood is producing a Sindhi feature film in Pakistan, which may possibly be the first since the recent rebirth of local cinema.
Titled Jugnu, it is directed by Ali Abbas Naqvi, an Iqra University faculty member. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Naqvi said the project initiated in 2013.
“I graduated from the University of Karachi in 2012. In 2013 we had a screening of thesis films in Aga Khan University, where Jami was part of the jury. After the screening, he approached us with an idea about a boy and his goat.”
The team then worked on the script for several years.
“We wrote 14 drafts and now the 15th one is the final, which we are currently shooting. We had to work on a lot of things and we realised that the city would be better off if it’s set in a rural environment. So, we spent a month in Moro to research and observe our surroundings and understand how people live to get a vibe. We decided to focus on issues that aren’t talked about a lot usually, such as weak electricity poles etc.”
He shared that the film also includes Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s vision.
“There is a local Sufi touch to the film and for that we have Saif Samejo as the music composer. It’s not finalised yet but there will be three or four songs in the film.”
Naqvi also pointed out that the film isn’t completely in Sindhi language and will have Urdu as well. The film-maker is inspired by Iranian films, especially Majid Majidi’s movies. He hopes to bring similar sensibilities to Jugnu.
“I just want to tell people a good story and this film has such a human story. I saw that when we were talking to people here, they related to it.”
Lack of cinemas is definitely a problem and Naqvi’s plan is to screen the movie in different festivals before he goes for a public screening. We wish team Jugnu good luck and hope to see our local cinema flourish even more.
The story moved forward with this episode but with every passing episode I am finding it even more difficult to keep my interest in this drama alive. The story is all over the place and even though all the actors are doing complete justice to their respective characters, their tracks lack enough substance and depth to keep the viewers coming back for more. Some of the scenes in tonight’s episode which should have been really impactful fell flat completely. The scene in which Saira went to say goodbye to Shabo had to be one of the most unimpressive scenes in this entire episode. Ever since Shabo and Saira have grown up their relationship with each other has lost the spark it had before completely. What was once a beautiful friendship now looks like a forced track in a story which has stopped making sense altogether. The way Saira welcomed Shaheena when she came back to Naseeb’s house also did not make sense at all since just a little while back she was sitting and complaining about Shaheena! Apart from this a lot of screen time was wasted on showing conversations which didn’t add anything new to the story. For instance the scene covering Shaheena’s meeting with Yasmin was stretched for no reason.
Even though so many years have passed and so much has happened between different characters yet their relationships remain the same. I feel that the writer has failed to do justice to all these tracks in this phase of the story since there has been very little character development and the relationship dynamics between different characters haven’t been shown in a proper manner. All these people had something to offer before but now their tracks have absolutely no meaning. Muhammadu’s track is going around in circles and some of the scenes in every episode are highly repetitive. Even if Murad kills Muhammadu, the development will have absolutely no impact since Muhammadu never played an important role in the story. Saira’s character has to be the biggest disappointment so far since she is the main protagonist and for the longest time the viewers felt for her character. I was looking forward to her track the most as the story progressed to the next phase but unfortunately this track too just like all the others has lost its charm completely.
Naseeb for the first time felt attracted towards Saira which too seemed like a delayed development and one which will probably have not much of an impact on the story! Right now, it is difficult sitting through this drama because it has lost its purpose completely. The pace of the drama has slowed down and every episode has more than its fair share of filler scenes. In an attempt to prolong the drama, the writer has lost his grip on the story and sometimes I feel that these new episodes haven’t been written by the same person who wrote the first 11 episodes. It is sad watching a drama like this one going downhill since it started off with a definite purpose and it fit the bill as well. After this episode I have very little hope that Mujhe Jeenay Du will get back on track but I will be tuning into it only to find out how they wrap up the story.
How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

The wedding fever is on and the yearly held Bridal Couture Week is going on in Lahore. Many celebrities have graced the ramp for different designers in the three days of the show. Today Sba Qamar walked for Umsha by Uzma Babar. At the centre stage, her foot got slipped and she had a minor fall. But the lady showed why she is known for her confidence. She got up, gave the audience a confident look and continued with her walk. Here is how Saba is handling the situation like a champ:
Muniba Mazari, the thirty year old paraplegic has been the Iron Lady of Pakistan for a long time now. People are used to see her smiling face on the screens, billboards and the social media where she is very active. Recently, however she has been caught in a whirlwind of controversies where she has been sued for 10 million by her ex-husband for defamation, the twitterati has turned against her for her anti-men statements, another artist has claimed she stole her artwork, and The Disability Association has ousted her. This is a lot of negativity for one person to handle. On top of this, her interview that she gave to PTV some five years back is going viral. In that one she said while answering a question about her husband’s attitude to her during and after the fateful accident that left her paralyzed from waist down;
“He was driving with me but Alhumdulillah he is fine. I am alive today and all the credit goes to him. I get emotional at times but he is such a real person. We are more than friends. When I cry he cries with me. But he tells me that I can do whatever I want to do. He doesn’t have any issue with my job and my work.”
Now in a recent speech, she said that her husband jumped out of the car and saved her life and now he is married again. Even though she said she is happy for him and was just sharing her struggle for normalcy, it created a lot of backlash. She was criticised left right and centre.
Some people however, still kept their support for her
Days after this row, another artist Laiba Baig brought her accusations to public eye that Muniba had been stealing her artwork and claiming it’s her own.
Now the Disability Movement has dissociated itself from Muniba saying that she is seeking sympathy and introducing idealism into disability. They said she is merely cashing in on her paraplegia rather than doing anything helpful for disabled people.
Amidst all this, Muniba has written a long post on Facebook which she has shared on twitter as well. It is rather long but if you really wish to know her reasons and logic, you must give it a moment.
To all of my followers, critics and supporters alike,
If you’re reading this and you are married and happy, I wish nothing but a blissful happily ever after for you. Remember that every marriage goes through its ups and down, but as long as you hold on to respect for each other, no mountain is too high and no storm is too great. May your beautiful relationship continue to shade each other and all the loved ones around you.
If you’re reading this and you are married but unhappy and struggling, then know that I am sending all of my love and prayers your way. Remember that you are not alone, that this too is only a phase of your life and like all other phases, this too shall pass. 5 years ago, I was where you are today. My PTV interview circulating around social media is from that time. It is emotionally exhausting to try and make a marriage work, to make sure you don’t wash your dirty laundry in public, to do the best in your power for your child, struggle with the insecurities of what the future may hold all the while maintaining the façade of a perfect marriage. I pray that when this phase is over for you, you too are judged, but unlike me, you are judged for all the right reasons. You are judged for being gracious, for giving your utmost to make the marriage work, and for putting your best foot forward despite screaming in agony on the inside. The relationship of marriage is worth the struggle and I pray yours is rewarded in nothing but positivity. No matter what the outcome, always always remember that in this time of struggle, you are not alone.
If you’re reading this and you are divorced and a single parent, then know that it may seem bleak and impossible to comprehend right now, but the worst is over. You cannot start healing until the problem festering in your heart is dealt with. And though divorce is perhaps the most painful way to handle the problems of your heart (or your life), it in no way means you have failed your children, your family and most importantly, yourself. Perhaps your win will come in the form that you will not be going through the day in day out anguish of feeling disrespected. Your win will come through knowing that you can now live your dreams without an anchor weighing you down. Your win will come through when see your children grow up in a house with one parent, but double the love, triple the respect and four times the happiness of not waking up in a hostile environment on a daily basis. Know that you are not alone, that I and countless others like me share your story. It’s going to be a rocky road of financial insecurities; perhaps you will suffer through custody cases of your child, just like I have been enduring for many years, having multiple people talk behind your back and label you are a disappointment, but remember that those people don’t even have the slightest idea of what this struggle is like. As hard as it may be, do not listen to them. They have not walked in your shoes. I have. And I want to tell you that it may seem impossible but yes, yes, yes, it does get better. That is my promise to you.
If you are reading this and you are divorced, a single parent, but also differently abled while being in the public eye – then please come have tea with me! I would love to meet someone who can help me understand how a paraplegic can be condemned as promiscuous, or keeping your ex anonymous can be labelled as defamation. Life is interesting, and with every stage and every phase you learn more and evolve more. To me, this change is not hypocrisy rather it is proof of a healthy progression in life. Imagine for a moment, being stuck in your present state of mind, and present state of life for all of eternity. What a frightening thought indeed!
None of us is entitled to the intricate details of marital struggles of our cousins, our friends, our neighbours, the girl at our office, the daughter of our maid, the teacher at our school. If we cannot offer them love, then the least we should offer is the freedom to maintain their privacy in this very personal matter.
Let us be kind to one another, starting with being kind to ourselves.
Muniba Mazari
There are always three sides to a story, and the truth always lies somewhere in between. However, we should not be so quick to judge a woman who despite her unfortunate accident and paralysis rose up and shone brightly. She so wanted motherhood that she is devoted to her adopted son despite not being able to do all that a mother has to do. She has full rights to take credit if she has fought and succeeded alone.
Day 2 of the Bridal Couture Week was also star-studded. It is the wedding season in Pakistan and Pakistani couturiers are coming forward with beautiful designs and regal outfits to make the coming up big days even more beautiful and memorable. Here are some highlights from the second day of the show. Many celebrities including Mawra Hocane, Aiman Khan, Zara Noor Abbas, Ahsan Khan and Yumna Zaidi graced the ramp with their presence. Have a look:
Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat created magic on big screen when they came together in Actor In Law. Now the makers of Actor In Law, Nabeel Qureshi and Fiza Ali Meerza are coming together with both the actors playing leads in their next movie Load Wedding. This will be the third project of these four together as they came together for the first time in Na Maloom Afraad where Mehwish did an item song, the second being the super-hit Actor In Law and now it is Load Wedding.
The film will release next year on Eid ul Adha. So even before the start of the year, big films are already being scheduled for special occasion releases which is a good sign for our film industry!
Khamoshi has a really good story but the makers have given extra screen time to unwanted tracks a lot. Arsala is still being a bechari, which she was born to be one. Her only goal in life is to remain “Khamosh” as much as possible and listen to people saying bad stuff about her, be it Atif or Naima or even her own parents. Now she is in total gratification towards Bee Jaan since she gave five lakh rupees for Naima’s marriage to her own ex-fiance. But the writer has stuck to the point that people always end up falling for Arsala’s good behaviour since Zubia is also being a friend towards her. But Zubia’s mom is just out of this world. Since her entry, she is always going out somewhere and she doesn’t have a job. I really want to know how much shopping and socializing the lady can do.
Shahram is an old-school boy and despite all his good qualities and philanthropy projects, we have to admit that he does not know how to impress a girl he likes. He is supporting her financially, talking to Bee Jee about her plight and was even daydreaming about the girl. But still, the skills are lacking. Bee Jee is now suspicious though that Shahram likes Arsala. And from the way he is supporting her, Arsala will not know that Shahram has fallen for her until the last episode. The Khamosh larkihas found her Khamosh larka finally.
Arsala’s family is just simply insane. I don’t think that in lower-middle-class households in Pakistan, it is allowed for young unmarried girls to shout “mujhe nafrat hai Arsala se” about the sole breadwinner of the house. Moreover, she is defaming her and saying bad things about her character and in place of punching her face, the parents are doubting Arsala. She will now take one lakh for salami too. Atif-the confused is now back to not-hating and only disliking Arsala. He is still mourning over the sister of his future wife. Such a loser!
One thing is for sure, this is Iqra Aziz’s best performance to date since one really starts hating Naima as soon as she comes on the screen which means she has translated the character perfectly on screen.
The drama is running slow and it would have been a much more exciting one if they progress the story forward. Let’s see how Shahram and Arsala’s track progresses since Zubia ki Ammi is not going to happy with her nephew!
Ohkay so, just like all the previous episodes, this episode of Aangan was equally amazing. The best thing about watching Aangan is that it warms your heart & because as a viewer we have formed a connection with the characters, we understand their journey & their perspective. The way the writer has etched out all the characters & has made them realistic is amazing.
The conservation that Hajra had with Laila was so meaningful. I love the fact that Hajra is not only the eldest in age or relation, she acts like one too because she understands the family dynamics & knows everyone in & out. Even though Hajra has made a place for herself in this house, she still never takes advantage of her position & tries to keep everyone happy & on the same page as much as possible. Hajra tried to make Laila understand that deep inside everyone knew what happened with Rubina was just an accident but they just had to blame someone & that turned out to be Laila. I loved the way Hajra explained Zaitoon’s, Rubina’s & even Anila’s perspective to Laila. The fact is that just by Zahid not being there to take care of his wife, everyone was faced with this situation so Laila ended up taking the brunt of it & it was sweet that Laila not only paid heed to what Hajra said but walked an extra mile to make truce with Rubina by helping her with her kids!
The hashar ka maidan conversation at the breakfast table was again so funny. It is amusing how everyone has formed an opinion about Asim that he only does & says what Laila tells him so. Even though on his own Asim did try to make Laila understand but the way he requested his mother to go easy on his wife showed that he was trying really hard to maintain a balance between the two. I laughed a lot when Sajjad sided with Asim & Abba Jee exactly knew the reason behind this support, which was Bijli Ka Bill that Asim paid for the month. The sweetest bit about this entire family unit is that both Zaitoon & Abba Jee are well aware of their children’s nature & even though they have a lot of complains with everyone, they are incomplete without their family.
Even though Hajra has done so much & has been doing it for so long, she still knows that she can’t make decisions singlehandedly, that is why she not only had to request Zaitoon to get her the permission, she also had to scold Laila to please her mother in law. I thought may be later Hajra will approach & apologize but she was too occupied with her own thoughts because she desperately wanted Abba Jee’s permission.
So finally, Aqdas made an entry & from that very moment he couldn’t take his eyes off Zoya, which obviously marked the beginning of their love story. I am actually interested to see how will Hajra react to this since she wants Shaina to get married to Aqdas.
Overall, this episode was thoroughly enjoyable. The best thing about this drama for me is the way the characters converse with each other, you seriously feel like its your family that is having a conversation. All the actors have done a commendable job but Irsa Ghazal takes the crown, she definitely understands that she was assigned the most important character that is why she has literally owned it. Definitely looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aangan!
Tonight’s episode of Shayyad revealed a side of Saad’s character which showed his desperation as well as his immaturity. While everyone else around him thinks he is depressed because he is afraid that he is losing a childhood friend, no one has been able to decipher the real reason behind his anger and depression. Surprisingly enough, even Mahpara has not been able to figure out why Saad is behaving in an odd manner. So far, apart from his own feelings Saad has been getting enormously influenced by everything he hears. When his friend told him that everything was fair in love and war, he felt he had the license to do whatever he wanted to. Similarly, when his phupo criticized Salar, he instantly felt Hani deserved better. For once phupo’s observation was absolutely right but Hani’s uncle is just as impressed by Salar’s personality as Hani is and Naila just wants Hani to get married so that she doesn’t have to live with another spinster. Phupo on the other hand cannot see Hani getting married because of her own complexes. Mahpara’s scene with her father was hilarious! I absolutely love Irfan Khoosat in this role and would love to see more of him.
Salar’s character is turning out to be completely negative but after tonight’s episode I am more interested than ever in finding out how the relationship between Hani and Salar will turn out to be once these two get married. Salar wants Hani’s undivided attention and treats her like something he owns instead of a human being who has a life of her own too. Tonight, the way he refused to greet Saad properly and later on the manner in which he inquired about Saad clearly showed how possessive he was about Hani. Given his controlling and cold nature, this marriage will probably be a nightmare for Hani.
In a way Hani is looking for Saad’s approval, she has always shared all her good and bad times with Saad therefore she is missing Saad’s presence and support now. She was eager to find out what Saad thought about Salar and was upset when he drew that picture to tell her how he felt after meeting Salar. Hani’s situation is interesting and her confusion understandable at this point. Sadia Khan however remains the weakest link in the play. Although overall Uzair Jaswal’s performance wasn’t impressive in this episode but there were a few scenes in which he performed really well. Even though what Saad did tonight was way out of line but I actually like these flaws in his character, his character wouldn’t have been so appealing if he didn’t have these flaws.
Salma’s love story has been relegated to the background all of a sudden and it is almost as if that particular track never took a tragic turn. This is especially strange because her track was getting a great deal of attention before. Although, watching her get a lot less screen time than before is definitely better but then why was there so much focus on her track before?
Although Shayyad isn’t picture perfect but the story is interesting enough to keep your interest alive, it is definitely the kind of drama I look forward to mainly because of the fact that it is unpredictable and interesting enough.

It’s that time of the year again when Pakistanis are busy in weddings which bring with them a whole new influx of fashion trends and glamour ideas. Sajal Aly walked the ramp for Mohsin Ranjha. His collection was called “Gulab Sandesh” and Sajal was beautiful in a mint blue short peplum shirt and double layered flared lehnga.
The beautiful makeup for all the models was done by Team Nabila. It graviatated towards sheer base, highlighted skin, golden eyes and pink lips. Jewellery pieces were by Hamna Amir and included beautiful heavy birdal pieces.
First day’s collections were all gorgeous and we are excited to see what comes in the next two days.
Oh the tragedy when you are watching this amazing intense Korean drama & take a break to watch O Rangreza only to find out that it got even more ridiculous than the last time you tuned to it. At first, it seemed like the writer was trying to make a point & successfully at that, but that point is completely missing from this story now. All the new twists & turns are making this drama look like a joke now & I still can’t believe this is the same drama that I used to love!
With Tipu & all the situations that were created in this track, I think the writer was trying to add some comedy quotient but I think he missed the point that for comedy to work, timing is the most important factor & Saji Gul definitely got that wrong. I think now when Tipu has annoyed every single viewer to the core, there is not going be a single one who is going to laugh let alone smile at his antics. Tipu is after the Haveli & his chunk in it & he thinks getting married would solve all his problems, haa haa haa, we were supposed to laugh right? Oh I am (not) sorry that it is sounding so sarcastic. From letting the viewers know the double standards of men to a head-strong girl fighting to chase her dreams, the story stooped to this level where we were being shown a sissy guy arranging his own marriage without the involvement of his parents & girls’ mother being totally cool with such a bizarre rishta? Chalo larki walon ke koi standards na honge but hum viewers ke to hain!
Ohhh, just last week I mentioned that the characters weren’t evolving & after 19 weeks it finally happened where Qasim scored a win by fighting Sassi ka Sissy sa bhai, bhai wah kya kamal kiya hai 19 weeks baad!!! Also, Mumtaz showed that her vocal chords were in mint condition because of which she could scream like anything. What progess, clap everyone!
I must say the Hmmm Hmmm’mmm Mmmm during Khayyam & Sonia’s confession # 103883739 scene was hilarious, matlab are they really projecting it as a fresh beautiful love that two souls experience for the first time? Sonia is suffering from depression & that is why she resorted to such an extreme. Sonia’s depression needs to be addressed because even her personal assistant was aware of it & she had an episode in front of him too. It is amusing how Khayyam is trying to set a saij for himself & Sonia over Mumtaz’s Haveli, I mean Sonia has made a lot of money, so why is he after something that belongs to Mumtaz? Does Khayyam really think he has to ‘prove’ something to Sonia by doing something so ridiculous? It seems Khayyam is just looking for excuses to buy himself some more time because now when Sonia is ready, the first thing he should do is get married to her in stead of worrying about haveli & flats. Sonia already has a place to stay which even Khayyam is living in, so what’s the point of arranging a place for Sonia? Or may be Khayyam’s ego won’t allow him to stay at Chaudhry’s place after getting married to her?
Sassi has become a struggling actor & she couldn’t tolerate the fact that Meena got to work in one of the projects she was after. I mean it is so ridiculous seeing Meena, an Indian from Chandigarh becoming a dweller here? Matlab behan app ne wapis nahi jana? Or may be she is working to earn some money so that she can go back or may be not as she was trying to arrange a dulha for herself in the form of Qasim. It was funny that Meena was being ‘informed’ about Tipu’s marriage as if she wasn’t living there? This is what the problem in this story is, the writer got too focused on creating individual characters that he forgot to establish proper relations, a chemistry between them all. I mean Tipu & even Mumtaz were planning his marriage, meeting the neighbors & both Meena & Sassi didn’t have any clue about it? Aisa kahan hota hai yaar, even ghar mai 1 hour kaam karne wale servants ko bhi ghar ki har news hoti hai! Also, Khayyam, I mean no matter how cold or distant a father might be, he always keeps an eye on his children, so it is absolutely unconvincing & unreal that Khayyam has left Sassi on her mercy & he is not even bothered about where she is headed? Anyways!
Please share your thoughs about this episode of O Rangreza & tell me how shocked you are seeing the recent turn of events in this drama!
Music is the most important part of the South Asian entertainment. We cannot make a drama or film without songs in it. Where films consist of multiple songs, a drama relies on one soundtrack which has to be good enough to stay on the audiences playlists as long as the drama runs on their screens. The soundtrack of any drama is its soul. People would not have loved Humsafar as much as they did if Woh Humsafar Tha wouldn’t have played in the background. OSTs have been a solace for Pakistani music lovers when the music industry was down. They made the audience connect to Pakistani music. The trend of producing soulful and heart-touching OSTs is, therefore, going on for quite some time now and our musicians have succeeded in giving the audience a lot of good stuff to listen to. This year was no different and every team tried to put out the best soundtrack they can. As a result, many heart-warming OSTs came out this year too and here are to name a few:
Khuda Aur Mohabbat 2:
The OST of Khuda Aur Mohabbat season 1 was so heart-touching that it still was a part of many people’s playlists. This year Khuda Aur Mohabbat season 2 came out. The OST was a bit altered and with the magical voice of Ahmed Jahanzeb, the vocals of Afshan Fawad were added. The whole song is so perfect that once it starts, it stirs something inside you. This was one of the top OSTs this season with perfect music, perfect vocals and perfect video.
https://youtu.be/ytMwjONVtag
Sang-e-Mar Mar:
This drama was too perfect. The direction, the acting, the plot and the OST. Sahir Ali Bagga’s composition and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s vocals can create magic any day. Both of them are masters of their crafts and it showed in the OST. The ghazal feels of this OST were out of this world. The music is extremely soothing and takes you to another world.
https://youtu.be/2EEdsL-luak
Dhaani:
Sung by Zamad Baig, this was another popular OST this year. Whenever Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Sahab’s name is taken, the song has to be good. That was the case with Dhaani’s OST, it was a remake of Nusrat Sahab’s masterpiece and Zamad did a very good job and made the OST a must listen. The drama itself was not that much appreciated but the OST was. Here is Dhaani’s OST:
https://youtu.be/uAh7TdO68Us
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai:
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai talked about a very sensitive topic and brought society to think about a social issue the society skips to address as an issue even. The drama showed the problems a transgender individual face from the point of being born. Ayesha Khan showcased the mother of such a kid very nicely. The OST of the drama represents the overall theme and emotions perfectly. A win-win OST by Waqar Ali.
https://youtu.be/35NqI79c6EE
Moray Saiyyan:
People loved the pairing of Uzair and Neha in this play as well as the OST by Qurutul Ain Baloch. QB can nearly pull off anything she sings. The powerful vocals keep you mesmerized. The song was a tad bit slow and kind of sad when you listen to it but later, with the story unfolding it proved out to be a perfect OST for Moray Saiyyan.
https://youtu.be/LPFs15XybgU
Shadi Mubarak Ho:
The only good thing about this drama is its OST. Initially, I looked forward to the drama because of the song. The drama may be skip-worthy and not something one would look forward to but the OST is a win-win. It is a perfect shaadi song. The video is also choreographed in a filmy wedding style but as I said earlier, it was the only impressive thing about this drama.
https://youtu.be/jNfOW5kaW9Q
Ye Raha Dil:
The OST was youthful as was this drama. It is sung by Atif Ali and Samra Khan. It is melodious and easy going. It sounds more like a romantic song one can listen to in rom-coms. The video suits the overall lyrics and music. It was also a good one which came out this year.
https://youtu.be/Ie2m5L3ffo4
Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai:
The OST of this Ayeza Khan, Imran Abbas and Shehzad sheikh starrer is also a winner, a lot like the story itself. The song is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and the lyrics are by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. The two names together had to result in a masterpiece and that is what happened with the OST of Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai. And it perfectly matched the overall story and ending. Listen to it again:
https://youtu.be/5GqrrGR-_30
Sun Yaara:
The drama was fantastic and the song impressed the audience equally. The singer was Damia Farooq and she really made the song everyone’s favourite with her beautiful vocals. The video also complimented the lyrics and music. Here have a look:
https://youtu.be/rjXGQxZtghY
Baaghi:
This is hands down one of the best OSTs of recent times. The composition and vocals of this masterpiece were given by the talented Shuja Haider. It goes with the theme of the drama so well that only listening to it can make you aware what is coming ahead. Top notch music, best vocals, all in all, a brilliant track. Lyrics written by Sabir Zafar deserve an applause.
https://youtu.be/PJlnSVMSKDU
O Rungreza:
This is a song which you can listen to on repeat. Sahir Ali Bagga’s composition and voice made this a must-have for every playlist. Mohay apne hi rang main rang de nizam were the lines which Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also sang in this year’s Coke Studio but even they were not able to beat the melody of this OST. This song has colours, beauty and calmness along with the ability to make you dance and whirl with the music.
https://youtu.be/otryLKhAi5Y
So this year we got all kinds of OSTs from sad to ghazal like to chick. My personal favourite is that of O Rangreza. Sahir Ali Bagga really killed it in O Rangreza. The above list consists of all the popular and great OSTs of this year. Give them a shot if you have not listened to these and do share which one you liked or any other you think should be a part of this list. Your feedback is always important!
Ohkay so, even though a few things in this episode made sense but a lot didn’t & were stretched beyond limit. I really think they should wrap things up now because ending this drama on a positive note is what’s left to be done so they better hurry up!
So, Fizza thought just the way she left on her own terms, she will barge into Zaid’s home & his life on her own terms too. Now when Fizza experienced everything she wanted, she realized she was incomplete without Zaid. Even though Fizza has been shown to be the wrong one right from the beginning, but now she had a valid point that why didn’t Zaid divorce her before getting married to Amna as that gave her a false hope & she wasn’t wrong in assuming that Zaid didn’t want to leave her!
Amna has always been too selfless to be true but I wish the writer had written some dialogues for her because after having a couple of conversations with Zaid, she lost her voice. Please don’t tell me that Amna will decide to walk away from Zaid’s life to give Fizza back which isn’t hers anymore!
I must say out of all things, what I found the most unconvincing one was Zaid’s cluelessness? I mean he didn’t even had to go through the hassle of telling Fizza the truth about his & Amna’s relationship as she found that out herself, so the least he could do was take a stand & show Fizza her right place? I don’t understand when Zaid made up his mind & brought Amna back then why didn’t he tell Fizza to leave or why didn’t he come to a decision regarding his relation with Fizza because even he can’t deny that he is still married to her.
While seeing Fizza torturing Amna with her taunts, I was wondering where was Zaid? Yes, he must have been at work but still, Zaid knows Fizza too well to know what she must be putting Amna through so in stead of relying on Amna & waiting for her approval, Zaid should have taken matters in his hand & should have come to a conclusion.
Even though this drama has been a decent journey, but now they really should wrap things up & I don’t want Fizza to be doing the heavy lifting by walking away on her own after feeling pity & having mercy on Zaid & Amna, I want Zaid to take a decision like a man & call spade a spade. He has already relied on the ladies, time for him to take charge of the situation & paas a verdict ASAP! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yaar e Bewafa.
Just like every other episode of Baaghi the viewers were not only shown what a perfect daughter and sister Kanwal was but different characters in the play kept on reasserting this notion repeatedly. So, I hope everyone out there watching this show has learned the lesson we were taught in this episode – daughters like Kanwal are a blessing – this would mean that all those women out there who are using unethical means to help their families financially are heroes about whom books should be written and a biopic should be dedicated to each one of them! However those daughters of the soil like Marium Mukhtiar for instance do not deserve anything more than a telefilm and there are so many more who actually are role models and did a great deal and I hope that some day our drama makers will be making biopic about them too! Once again, Kanwal’s sole concern was her father and in order to make Kanwal look like a perfect human being everyone else around her was yet again transformed into either a hypocrite or a manipulator!
The fact that this story doesn’t have substance is also apparent from the way this drama is being promoted. For the longest time Osman Khalid Butt’s entry was used as a “bait” and this time around Qandeel Baloch’s controversial dance video was used as a way to attract the viewers. The developments in the story have hardly been used to attract the viewers so that they would tune into the show. Irfan Khoosat, Saba Faisal and Nadia Afghan’s performances were remarkable in this episode. Saba Qamar is a little too casual now and her character is predictable and boring. Shehryar was shown worrying sick about Kanwal in every single scene and although he feels attracted towards Kanwal but he is confused for obvious reasons. Kanwal likes him but she has more important things in life to worry about which is probably the reason why she has completely forgotten about her son as well!!
Once again this episode showed that Kanwal was forced into doing something she didn’t agree with and she is more than willing to do whatever she needs to do to earn money because apparently there is nothing wrong with it as long as she is doing all of it to help her parents! All of a sudden Kanwal’s actions have been justified more than before and Kanwal isn’t even enjoying the “celebrity status” and the money she is getting as a result! As far as I remember, the writer said that there was going to be a lesson in this drama and they were not going to glorify Qandeel Baloch in any way but so far there are no lessons and they are most certainly glorifying Qandeel Baloch as well.
All I can say is that I have seen much better dramas which covered the problems girls who support their families face, Thakan was one such drama in which Saba Qamar played the lead. It had a much better storyline, the characters were far more appealing and the producers didn’t use any shortcuts to get ratings. Also, Saba Qamar has played more solid roles in her career, her role as Kanwal Baloch is surely not the highlight of her career! Even though I never had huge expectations from this drama but even then it has been a terrible disappointment in more ways than one.
Last year, on this day, Pakistan saw one of the biggest funerals in Karachi. It was due to the sad demise of Junaid Jamshed, once a pop icon and later a preacher who lost his life along with all other passengers as their plane crashed near Hawailian. This accident shook the whole country but life went on. Today as the year ends, people from all walks of life remember him. Celebrities also missed him and paid tributes to Junaid Jamshed as he had touched every life to some extent.
Another week, another ridiculous episode of Teri Raza. I must say it is absolutely necessary for the writer to explain her mind set, her thought process in regards to Suhana’s character, like what was she trying to achieve by showing a character like her? So many episodes have passed & the purpose of this story remains a mystery!
Suhana is one such person who no matter what, finds a way to remain unhappy. When she herself chose to get married to Imtiyaz, she degraded everyone around her & blamed them for her unhappiness but now when she got married to the love of her life, I thought she’d be over the moon but that wasn’t the case. Suhana fought this entire case for the sake of her own happiness so now when she got what she wanted, why was she so upset? It seems Suhana sees her parents as punching bag, that is why now again she was blaming them for not paying much attention to her? Suhana knew that getting married to Rameez would cause a dent in her relation with her parents so why is she expecting so much? Suhana is someone who wants to be everyone’s center of attention & since that is not happening, she is again upset?
I really do not understand what the writer is trying to establish by showing ex spouses in contact with one another? Suhana couldn’t connect with Imtiyaz when she was married to him & now he’s the first person who pops in her mind whenever she feels like venting out? Looks like the writer doesn’t know a basic phenomenon called ‘moving on’, which is what people do when they end a relationship. Chalo, at first they showed that both Imtiyaz & Suhana spoke by accident but then later Imtiyaz knew that Suhana hurt her foot? Who told him that? & why? Definitely it was Suhana who did it, so again why? Now when she is married to Rameez, he is all she ever wanted so why is there a space in her life to connect with Imtiyaz? What for? Also, it is such a shame to see Suhana shamelessly using the car that her ex-husband gifted her & making the money over the business which he sponsored for her!?!?! When this girl has everything going for her then why is she not happy???
Rameez & even his mother think that Suhana shouldn’t cut ties with her parents & their motive is very clear, it is only because they know that Suhana comes from an affluent family & her parents are financially sound so they don’t want to miss the opportunity of getting any kind of advantages because of that!
I thought Suhana’s parents would be yearning for her & she’d be too busy living her dream life with Rameez but that wasn’t the case as she was acting all salty that her parents estranged her? Suhana is a nightmare & I loved when all of her apprehensions were proven wrong by Manzura when she informed Suhana that Rameez took her parents’ help in paying the hospital bills. It is good that now Suhana’s negative energies will be redirected towards Rameez & her parents will be spared because they never were at fault in the first place. Yes, Suhana’s parents are worst written characters too but at least they are not at fault, that is why I am siding with them because I feel they do not deserve what Suhana is putting them through.
I still can not get over the fact that Sanam Baloch chose such a negative character to make a come back? I have started finding Sanam Baloch irritating because of her image as Suhana. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Teri Raza & oh don’t forget to wish Suhana good luck as she has to count garlic cloves & green chillies everyday (serves her right)!

British Magazine GQ recently ranked the best dressed and worst dressed celebrities for it’s January 2018 issue and guess who’s on the list with many other heart throbs, yeap, it’s the Pakistani British actor Riz Ahmed.
Other celebrities making it to the list because of their chic red carpet looks include Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield.
The guy who aced the list and bagged the first spot is none other than the eleventh Doctor Who Matt Smith.
Coming to the worst dressed list it turns out that the Game Of Thrones star Kit Harington actually knows nothing when it comes to dressing up for an event and ergo he ended up in the worst dressed list of GQ magazine,
As ‘Arth the destination’ is getting closer to it’s release date the promotions are making the headlines almost every day, this time it’s an interview Shaan Shahid gave while promoting Arth in a show.
When asked if he’d like to play a real life person in his film whom would he choose the 021 actor said that he’d be thrilled to play Pervez Musharraf in his biopic,
“I want movies based on history to be made in Pakistan. When Hollywood can make movies such as Zero Dark Thirty, then why not in Lollywood,”
Moreover, the actor also shared that he would also love to remake Riaz Shahid’s Zarka.
When questioned about his contemporaries and their absence from the film scene the actor said that he didn’t burn himself all out he knew what he was doing and he stick to what he believed in,
“I didn’t burn out myself. I kept my pace for films. I am a product of films and I always focused on my destination.”
He shared that so many people tried to convince him to join television but he stood his ground.
“You have to stick to your ground and remember the relationship you have built with the audience.”
The Khuda Kay Liye star also shared some candid details of his life including the fact that he proposed his wife Amina within a week of meeting her,
“We met; we liked each other, within seven days I sent my mom to her place with a proposal.”
On his relationship with wife, he said:
“she understands my mission, she understands what I am trying to do in life and in the film industry.”
He also added that with his wife and his four daughters his household is rather women-centric and that his wife has a lot of control at home.
When asked why Shaan chose to remake an Indian movie given his vocal opposition of releasing Indian movies in Pakistan, he shared:
“My plan was to have a trade with India, I am an actor. I just think that our films don’t get the same space in India as theirs get here.”
He further argued that our artists don’t get the kind of respect in India that they deserve, our actors are not getting a visa to India, he said, adding
“it is not about money but izzat [honour].”
Shaan also shared that his upcoming movie will not be releasing in India because of the tense and hostile conditions there.
“If someone like Mahesh Bhatt isn’t able to release a [Pakistani] film, then I don’t know who can.”
The Khuda Kay Liye actor shared that currently the movies in Pakistan are being made in comfort zone.
“We need to enlarge the scope, and increase the pie, norms of the business have not been set up as far as entertainment is concerned.”
People are trying to control the cinema but they should know that
“it’s too early to own it.”
Let the people decide what they want, he remarked.
“Let new people come in. New talent should be given a chance.”
On the trend of movie promotions, Shaan remarked that it is a new trend associated with the evolution of the Pakistan cinema.
“Back in the day, there was a trust element between the audience and filmmaker, which was more than enough.”
On Arth-The Destination, he said that he wanted to pick a movie which resonates with people from both Pakistan and India.
“I wanted to make an art film, one which people from all age groups can relate to.”
He said that he approached Mahesh Bhatt, the director of Shabana Azmi starrer Arth, and he did not charge Shaan any money over movie’s copyrights.
“I took the script added something very valuable to it, changed the protagonist and structure of the movie. I wanted to show the ties between the two countries through this film.”
On the casting of Humaima Malik, Shaan, who has also written the movie’s script, said that she was the perfect fit for the role.
The movie is set to release this December the 21st and we wish team Arth all the luck.
Muniba Mazari had recently been going viral for her talk on an international platform where she walked the audience down the memory lane to the date of her accident. In 2008, after two years of marriage, Muniba and her husband had met with a fateful accident and she said that jumped out of the car even though he was driving it and saved himself. It seemed apparent from her conversation that his lack of care and support are what caused the rift between the two.
Her husband, Khurram Shahzad, an Airforce Officer, however had another story to tell and filed Muniba for defamation, demanding a sum of 10 million rupees. His version is that he was busy promoting her paintings after the accident to bring her back to normalcy but she had started taking an interest in modelling and that did not align with their family values.
In a series of tweets Muniba expressed her displeasure at the case;
The case is all set to appear in front of the court this month.
This episode of Dar Si Jati Hei Sila had to be one of the most powerful episodes of this drama so far. It is always great watching a play which has been written and executed with the sole purpose of getting a specific message across as opposed to focusing entirely on shortcuts which would guarantee ratings. The director Kashif Nisar and all the actors involved have done complete justice to Bee Gul’s script which is why every episode of this drama is truly disturbing. Bee Gul is known for showing topics which are tabooed in a bold manner on screen and this drama is no different. I truly appreciate the fact that everything is being executed without unnecessarily sensationalizing different aspects of the story.
Every character in this drama contributes in some way or the other to the story which is essentially about Sila and Sadia but says so much about the double standards in Noor Manzil which I belive represents our society in general – people who are quick to judge women and expect a great deal from them too! The confidence with which Joi harasses and blackmails Sadia and the manner in which everyone covers up for him shows how easy it is for men to get away with something like this especially when they have someone powerful behind them. Sadia and Sila’s helplessness shows how difficult it is for a woman to survive in the society if her husband or father is someone like Sikandar!
Sikandar’s overall attitude towards his wife in particular represents the shocking double standards in our society which are often accepted as “normal”. Noshi’s character represents all those opportunists who put their interests above everything else. Zaini is a feminist who is bold and vocal but she is not a negative person. Her character won me over completely today because we don’t get to see such characters very often in our dramas. Until the last episode she appeared to be someone who did not care about anyone else except herself but tonight the viewers saw a very different side of her character. Zaini might not like Sila’s personality overall and she makes fun of her every now and then too but tonight she told Raheel off and gave him a reality check because she could not see Sila being put through so much only because she shared with her father what she thought about Raheel. Although Sila told Zaini that quitting college was her own choice but Zaini did not believe her.
Hathim’s character is an interesting addition to the play as well. He is the only person who cares about Sila enough to treat her like a living and breathing human being. Since he knows that he enjoys a special status in Noor Manzil, he used his position to help Sila in his own way. Hathim and Sila’s relationship shows a different side of Sila’s personality as well. He is the only person Sila ever has a real conversation with and the only person who keeps on reminding her that she deserves better. The scene in which Sadia shouted at Hathim clearly indicated that he was not Sikandar’s son. He is the reason why Sadia is being blackmailed and the main reason why Joi knows he can get away with anything at all.
All the characters in this play are brilliantly etched-out and the story finally seems to be taking off now. Gradually, the viewers are finding out more about the characters and a few of them have some interesting surprises in store! This drama has some amazing performances to its credit as well. Nauman Ijaz is beyond brilliant as Joi, I personally know people who are his fans and are not watching this play anymore because this play makes them hate him as Joi! Saman Ansari’s performance in tonight’s episode in particular was absolutely faultless and extremely powerful. Yumna Zaidi is doing complete justice to a really difficult role. All the other actors are also giving realistic and impressive performances.
How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.
Ohkay so, this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan was slightly better but then again, things have become so bland that the charm that this drama once had has completely gone. There was a time when all the scenarios in this drama looked so interesting but now it’s like a plain story telling where nothing piques your interest anymore. To be honest, the only reason behind tuning to it now is to see how it will end & that’s about it!
Shaheer sent his proposal to Zimmal’s place without even telling her & what’s amusing was that his parents thought their marriage was a done deal. Just when I was actually having a hard time understanding why Zimmal said ‘Arsalan ne mujhe kiss mushkil mai daal diya hai’, I was taken aback when I heard her talking about their marriage? I mean these characters were introduced in the 20th episode & it literally took them 13 episodes to show who was chosen by Zimmal? What’s worse about this entire scenario is that they never really showed Zimmal’s growing interest in Arsalan, it’s like she had to choose between 2 guys, so just because she didn’t like the 1st guy, she chose the 2nd one? There was no emotional development in this entire track & that is why these characters never really grabbed the attention of the viewers in the first place. Zimmal’s suggestion about the secrecy of her marriage with Arsalan was another thing that I couldn’t comprehend? Now that she has made up her mind, what’s the point of hiding her marriage? In fact shouldn’t she declare it so that Shaheer is not under any delusion that she will accept him sooner or later?
Shahzeb became Baba Jee’s successor & it was too obvious, right from the beginning that this was going to happen, which was a decent development or let’s say closure to his track!
Rani’s neighbor screams trouble to me as in the very first meeting she seemed a bit too inquisitive. Also, one thing that seemed like a flaw was that her neighbor didn’t recognize her whereas Rani just did a movie & her posters were everywhere like her younger siblings said. Anyways, Rani’s track has become so boring like Zimmal’s that discussing it seems pointless!
Looks like Nazneen is going to get 3rd time lucky with her 3rd marriage? LOL! But not sure as Taimur’s parents have already chosen a girl for her & his mother especially doesn’t seem to be a fan of Nazneen. I am not sure if Taimur will be able to endure the pressure of his parents by sticking to the word he gave to Nazneen! I must say perserverance is commendable, I mean after 2 failed marriages, she gave in after a minute’s pleading of Taimur, seriously? Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan!
Rangrza’s title video song is now released and Bilal Ashraf is totally rocking as Ali Zain. He is in a complete rockstar look and looks amazing. It’s sung by Jay Ali and lyrics are by Azam Pasha. Watch this beautiful number here;
Ain’t no 90’s kid who doesn’t remember Aaroh’s love odyssey ‘Na Kaho’ back from 2003 but then again all good things end soon and so did Aaroh.
Aaroh disbanded in 2009 concentrating on their personal projects. Farooq Ahmed, vocalist and Haider Hashmi, lead guitarist, went on to pursue a career as solo musicians, while bassist Khalid Khan went on performing as a session player for the band Fuzön.
Aaroh released a new single Mera Pyar in 2013. There were plans on working on an album as well.
Haider Hashmi passed away in 2014 due to brain tumor which led to Aaroh disbanding and plans for the album being cancelled. In 2016 Nescafe Basement paid a tribute to the late guitarist in the seventh episode of the fourth season of the show.
But the Aaroh fans had a fangirl moment when earlier this year the band came together in Pepsi Battle of the Bands and performed the forever green Na Kaho and Rang Neela.
This year has been good to the Aaroh fan base because the band is back together and this time bringing back to life Habib Jalib’s ‘Mein Nahi Manta’ and with its original vocalist Farooq Ahmed. With Khalid Khan on bass, Jason Anthony on drums and Asad ul Hafeez on lead guitar
In a recent interview Farooq revealed that the band had never planned to come back together, but the response they got from fans when they performed at Pepsi Battle of the Bands was huge.
He said,
“While performing, we realised that working together is amazing and that the chemistry was still there so we thought of giving it a shot.”
He also added,
“Even other musicians from the industry were happy that we’re back and releasing a new song. They were equally excited.”
When asked why he thought this song was so important as a comeback, Farooq stated,
“I live in the US but I follow Pakistani politics to the core, so I know whatever is happening in the country. Khalid told me about Habib Jalib, who was a revolutionary writer and we thought of using his words for this song because they fit so perfectly.”
He further explained,
“After releasing this song, some people from the industry complained that we were only focusing on the negativity in the country. But I believe that even as musicians, we are affected by what’s going on around us and feel that we should voice our opinion as well. Aaroh is known for its love songs, but we also have a responsibility to make such things known. Hopefully, this will bring some change in the society which is why we felt that it was the right time to come back, especially with Mein Nahi Manta.”
Speaking of the possibility of a new album, Farooq said,
“As of now, I can’t personally commit to releasing an album, but we are working on a few songs that we plan to release soon.”
If any of the Aaroh guys are reading this I’m gonna voice every Aaroh fan’s heart here and say that we deserve a new album Pakistan deserves better music and we love us some Aaroh. Make a new album already.
‘Cake The Film’ is set to release in spring next year and the movie revolves around the lives of two sisters being played by Aamina Sheikh and Sanam Saeed. The film also stars the Sadqey Tumhare star Adnan Malik.
Aamina Sheikh took to her insta and shared the illustration of the first look of her character, the 021 actress will be playing a badass baker’s role named Zareen.

Talking about the movie, the director Asim Abbasi previously revealed,
“It’s about two sisters, one of whom lives abroad and the other is left behind here. It showcases their conflicts in dealing with their relationships and parents,”
He went on to add,
“The story is something we all can relate to in some way. We have seen globalisation, children moving away and the rivalry between siblings. It’s a story about love, loss and life and death – all the things that we are familiar with.”
We are absolutely in love with Aamina’s character already, do tell us how you like the first look of the actress.
So this episode brought to us the aftermath of whole Sarim’s murder and maafi nama issue. For the fear of sounding like a broken record, I will not discuss today that this drama has a very depressive feel to it, because we all know it and because I researched a bit and things like this still do happen in our society. Despite all that’s great in our country, there have been actual cases where power wins over all forms of justice, humanity and common sense. So, we have to give this drama the credit for bringing forth such a dark and painful reality.
There has not been much advancement in the story since this episode was more about the emotions and bone wrecking sadness that Khaani and her mother are feeling that the murderer of the apple of their eye is roaming unscathed and that they have a role to play in it. The dynamics between mother and daughter were captured well in the confrontational scene and both Sana and Salma excelled in it. Sonya’s logic that she was not there to save Sarim but she was there for Khaani so she had to agree to everything in exchange of her safety made perfect sense. Sana Javed was looking beautiful in all scenes today. She has resigned to her helplessness and has started to trust a higher power to help her find a way against the cruel laws of society.
In Mir household, the elders felt insulted when Khaani threw the check to their faces since it was a first for them, but it was Mir Hadi who was the most deeply affected by it. Even though Khaani thinks she has failed in getting justice for Sarim, if she had not created such fuss, Hadi would not have been forced to rethink what he had done. Now what he does with his remorse is another story, but knowing his character it seems unlikely that he will change for the better. It looks like he is soon going to develop an unhealthy obsession with Khaani as evident by the way he was taking her pictures from the car. The man seriously has had no upbringing. If his parents are supporting him after murder, it can be said with certainty hat they never taught them about not taking someone’s picture without permission. Still, it looked odd and made him look very villainous.
Stay tuned to see where does Hadi’s undue obsession with Khaani will take both of them and their families.
So the truth is finally out. With Fawad being in the hospital for few days and everyone around him considering him schizophrenic, he now knows that Dil Nawaz is not a human. Fawad got all his colleagues in trouble when he started claiming that he sees a girl and what they did? They tried to kill him with an overdose of sedatives! He was not violent and still, the hospital staff was giving him sleeping injections every hour. Seems like Fawad is not very friendly towards his co-workers. He even slapped Dil Nawaz and obviously apologized, the boy was super frustrated after all. But Fawad should not hit women even if they are not human.
Rasheeda is such an annoying character and the truth is she loves her sister’s daughter Mariya and Mariya’s bank balance more than she loves Fawad. To save her son, she went to Kiran’s house and even used tears to get her help her son but as soon as he was visibly fine she was again planning to get Fawad married to Mariya. Seems like she will finally be getting a taste of what she has been cooking for others in the next episode. Kiran’s plot right now is a useless stretch with her still being indecisive about what she wants to do and meeting that mysterious Baba Jee again and again.
Alam Ara has some terminal illness but her greed is still above everything for her. She is still pursuing the dark way to get money. Jahan Ara is a normal person but Alam Ara will never let her have a normal life. She, on the other hand, is trying to convince Jhan Ara to do the same magic she does so they can increase their business.
The most annoying thing for these two episodes is Fawad’s attachment to Dil Nawaz. She made him fall for her by magic but he looks stable now and still he is dying to get Dil Nawaz and has no feelings left for Kiran who he wanted to marry and even left his parents for her. He willingly and easily accepted Dil Nawaz’s true identity which is hard to digest. How can a human who is attached to a scientific field easily accept that his wife is a JINN!! He, on the other hand, is trying to convince her to come in front of his parents. Maybe he has forgotten this is kind of impossible to actually live your life with a non-human entity. He is so in love with Dil Nawaz and as Rasheeda said gave no lift to Kiran.
Neelam Muneer and Wahaj Ali both have nailed their performances. Neelam has brought a reality to the supernatural part and it seems real. Wahaj was also convincing in the scenes when people were not believing Fawad that Dil Nawaz exists.
So far the way they have executed the story, the pace and screen time have made this a perfect drama to watch. The director has a done his job well. The only thing wrong about Dil Nawaz is Wahaj’s lip stain. It is extremely bad!
Mujhe Jeenay Du was quite impressive for 10 weeks but ever since Saira grew up it is almost as if the drama has lost its purpose completely since the primary objective of this drama was to highlight the issue of child marriage. Saira’s life as a young bride and the problems she faced were highlighted superbly which is why the viewers felt for her every step of the way. However, now Saira’s life as a young woman is like that of any other woman her age and there have been absolutely no scenes which showed how getting married as a child affected her personality. I always appreciated the fact that Naseeb’s character wasn’t one-dimensional but in these two episodes his role in the story isn’t making a lot of sense. Saira’s relationship with Shabo as well doesn’t have the same warmth which it had when these two were children. Both the actors playing these roles now don’t have the same chemistry which the child actors had. Also, their meetings now can easily be termed as an extra marital affair and I am wondering why this particular track has been handled so callously. I remember how a track quite similar to this one was handled in Rehaii in an intelligent manner but that is certainly not the case here. I hate to say this but right now Mujhe Jeenay Du seems like a bad copy of drama serials Sammi and Rehaii.
Saira’s father’s death in tonight’s episode reminded me of how Waqas in drama serial Sammi killed Sammi’s husband-to-be. Muhammadu ran away and as a result no one found out who was responsible for the murder. This particular track got plenty of screen time in this episode and it will probably in some way affect Saira in the long run. Muhammadu continued to pressurize Shaheena to leave Naseeb so that they could get married again. Although Shaheena is insecure and isn’t exactly happy with her marriage but she kept on refusing Muhammadu. After meeting maulvi sahab Naseeb asked Yasmin to help her in order to give Muhammadu the right to meet his daughter. Yasmin’s scene with Shabo in this episode had absolutely no impact and I was wondering why Yasmin was asking Shabo these questions after all these years! I am also wondering why the second marriage was forced into this scenario if it didn’t have a bigger role to play in the story.
Few weeks back I was completely into every single track in the story but gradually I am losing my interest in this drama altogether. Hania Aamir’s performance as well as Saira’s character leave a lot to be desired. This track no longer shows how child marriage affects girls but Saira is being shown as a not so happily married girl who runs to Shabo as an escape. Also, although Shabo and Saira have grown up but there is nothing new or different about their characters or even their interactions with other people. Naseeb was always shown as someone who was different from other men in the village but even then he did marry Saira and he failed to protect her or give her a good life therefore I am wondering why he is off the hook so easily? Isn’t he going to pay for all the mental torture he put Saira through or is he also going to be forgiven once he apologizes to Saira? Right now the story seems purposeless and the new actors have failed to do justice to their characters. It is sad to see a drama which had so much potential going downhill like this. It is almost as if these latest episode have not been written by the same person who wrote the first 10 episodes. I am terribly disappointed with the recent turn of events and have very little hope that this drama will get back on track again.
How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Hamza Ali Abbasi has always been very vocal about everything around him. From politics to the entertainment industry, he never holds back. Some time back he came under a lot of fire when he criticized item songs but the actor has still supported his claim despite the backlash he was getting. Now when the ace director/producer from across the border Karan Johar made the same claim, everyone was supporting his comments. Hamza didn’t find the double standards right and as usual, pointed them out. He pointed out that the same comments by him made him a wannabe Mullah in the eyes of these people. Here is the tweet from the nation’s newsmaker which again made news:
