Cancer is one of the diseases that have been spreading very quickly among the masses and it doesn’t limit itself to a certain age and kids these days have been suffering from this deadly disease as well.
Child Aid Association has recently inaugurated a fund raising event for the Cancer Center NICH and Hina Dilpazeer and Ayesha Umar were there at the event to stand up for the cause. These women were there to support the kids battling with cancer and Ayesha even stepped up at the event to educate the people about this fatal disease. They were up for the support of such organizations and their missions so as no more precious lives would end due to this lethal disease.

Ohkay so, the writing of Radain Shah, direction of Aabis Raza & production of Big Bang Entertainment; Khud Parast is a prime time drama that commenced on Saturday on ARY Digital. The first episode was detailed & established the plot pretty well. I had a great time watching it & definitely looked forward to the next episode when the first episode of Khud Parast ended.
Main Characters & Plot:
Uswa (Ramsha Khan) is a confident & independent girl who always does what she feels like. Uswa along with her sister Maria has been raised like that by her mother who believes she has to support her daughters every step of the way. Uswa also has 2 brothers Ehsan (Saife Hassan) & Omar, they both are married & their wives feel that Uswa & Maria get unnecessary edge & a bit too much of freedom for their own good.
On the other hand Hannan’s (Shehzad Sheikh) household was introduced – they are shown to be practicing Muslims who hold onto their values & norms a bit too much. Hannan’s mother (Asma Abbas) is a conservative & rigid woman who believes in controlling her family members. She is looking for a girl for Hannan to get married to & that is when she stumbles upon Uswa & her mother in a clothing store. Hannan’s Sister in law (Nosheen Shah) is a subdued person who does what her mother in law tells her to do. Hannan does feel that even his niece Hooriya is also growing up to be like that but Hooriya’s mother tells him that is only because of her surroundings. Hannan who is accustomed to this environment does not really understand what his sister in law is trying to say & doesn’t also put much thought into it.
Maria is engaged to Rameez & they are just about to get married. Rameez’s friend Adeel gets to have an interaction with Uswa & kind of likes her attitude where she does not pay much attention to him. Adeel is shown to be a playboy who has had quite a lot of affairs in the past. I have a feeling that Adeel might be Hannan’s younger brother, let’s see.
Closing Thoughts:
Overall the first episode of Khud Parast was interesting & pretty decent. They are slowly building the curiosity & it is obvious that Hannan’s perfect-looking family is full of dark secrets & the writer will show how religious households are regressive & oppressive. I hope to see a balance being maintained without making things a bit too black & white. It is good to see Ramsha Khan in non-smokey makeup, even though in this drama again she has relied on a lot of makeup but the overall look isn’t too heavy or glam, which is good to see. Ayyan Ali came, saw, conquered and fell into a ditch in a very short period of time. Ayyan Ali got arrested in currency smuggling case in 2015 from the Benazir International Airport. She was talking over 500,000 USD without the permission of the State Bank of Pakistan. She was sent to Adiala and was kept there as she went on to attend court hearings.
She later got bailed out of jail and her name was removed from the Exit Control List. She went to Dubai as soon as her name was removed from ECL. She has since then not appeared before the court for more than 50 hearings now. A customs court has now issued non-bailable warrants for Ayyan Ali. Her council’s plea of adjourning the case was dismissed and the court ordered that Ayyan’s presence should be made sure on the 22nd of October.
Ayyan has been missing from the media scene since the case and with the way this case is not closing anytime soon, she might stay away from her career for even longer.
Will Ayyan come back and face the case in front of the justice system of Pakistan when she has clearly been called more than 50 times now? Doesn’t seem likely!
Sarmad Khoosat has established himself as a huge package of talent. Be it direction or acting, Sarmad has always touched new heights. Sarmad has announced that he is ready with two other films. One of the films is written by NCA student Nirmal Bano. It is a Punjabi film. All the work from casting to script writing is done and the shooting for the film will begin soon.

Woh Mera Dil Tha Last Episode Story Review – This last episode of Woh Mera Dil Tha aired unexpectedly but I guess all those viewers who have been following this show regularly must be used to watching this drama on a day and time when it was not scheduled to air. It was challenging watching this play because the time slot and even the day on which it aired changed so many times. There was so much confusion that there were times when there were two different schedules circulating on social media in a single day! The treatment given to this drama by the channel was off-putting to say the least.
A Decent Love Story
Woh Mera Dil Tha was a really decent love story with tons of character development and unexpected twists and turns to its credit. Like every other play written by Faiza Iftikhar this one too had quite a few elements which were brand new and it only got better with time. The main leads in particular were beautifully etched-out which is why the viewers instantly connected to these characters. Through Naina’s track, the writer asserted how important it was for parents to trust their children even when they feel that their children have gone off-track. Zaid’s story was a different track altogether, his coming-of-age journey was the most engaging factor in the drama. The story altogether was entertaining and the pace never slowed down.
Heartwarming Relationships
Naina’s relationship with Zaid’s family was always heartwarming. The way Zaid’s father handled the situation right from the time Naina and Zaid entered into a nikkah was also one of the most refreshing and pleasing aspects of Woh Mera Dil Tha. Although, whatever happened in this episode was predictable but it was only so because the writer did not wait for the last episode to wrap everything up. The changes in the characters, the way these relationships nurtured and the manner in which all these developments led to the kind of ending everyone was looking forward to was definitely convincing.
Arham Finally Makes Himself Useful (barely!)
Arham decided to do something for Zaid for a change when Sonia informed him that Zaid really was in love with Naina. Arham’s dialogue about letting him do something for Zaid for once was funny! He was the one who convinced Zaid that he did not need to sacrifice his love for him and that’s when Zaid decided to explain himself to Naina.
No One Found Out The Actual Truth
It was interesting how no one found out that Arham was actually the one who had a relationship with Naina and he backed out from his commitment at the last minute. Zaid and Naina did not try hard enough to convey this to everyone once the nikkah took place. Naina did not do so because she was too disappointed with her parents’ attitude and Zaid didn’t do it because he felt there was no point telling his parents the truth.
Overall Impression
Sami Khan and Madiha Imam nailed their respective characters. They looked great together and their characters had so much going for them. The director Mohsin Ali did complete justice to Faiza Iftikhar’s scripts but some of the actors did not perform as well as the leading actors did. Behroze Sabzwari’s acting and his role too was the most unbearable part of the drama. Furqan Qureshi too failed to do justice to his character. Overall however since majority of the story revolved around Naina and Zaid and Zaid’s family therefore watching this drama was surely a pleasant experience. Even with all his flaws Zaid’s character was far more appealing than most of the male protagonists we have seen in many other love stories lately. Naina was extremely likeable and her character development throughout was shown logically. One of the things I liked the most about this drama was that so many female characters were shown in a positive light. Naina and Zaid’s love story kept me looking forward to more every week. There were so many episodes which belonged entirely and completely to Sami Khan! I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful ride and loved the simple happy ending.
Sohai Ali Abro has been choosing lesser and lesser projects for some time now. She considers her roles and plays characters that really mean something. Sohai last did a solo movie Motorcycle Girl. She played the role of Zenith Irfan, the girl who travelled the northern areas alone on a motorbike. Sohai did complete justice to the character and no doubt Motorcycle Girl was a good movie aesthetically and commercially.
Sohai is now coming back towards television. She will be playing the role of an acid attack survivor. Social issues have taken quite a route in Pakistani dramas. More and more people have started making dramas about them and this way they not only provide entertainment but can also create awareness. Acid attacks are very common in Pakistan. People have attacked thousands of girls and most of the times the crime goes unpunished.
Sohai will be playing the role of an acid attack survivor and the drama will hold a strong message. Produced by Next Level Entertainment, the drama titled Surkh Chandni will air on ARY and has a spectacular cast of Sohai Ali Abro, Sami Khan, Asad Siddiqui, Mansha Pasha and Hassan Ahmed. Surkh Chandni is written by Asma Nabeel and will be directed by Shahid Shafaat.

Waseem Badami is a name that needs no introduction at all. Waseem initially did news anchoring for quite some time and that too in the night shift. He shared on a recent interview with Faysal Qureshi that how his career got a turning point when he suddenly had to take Benazir Bhutto on call one day and how he handled the call and the situation proved to be a turning point for his career.
Waseem shared that the most difficult news that he ever had to break was the death of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He narrated that after getting the news of the blast, they first took Rehman Malik who was chief security advisor at that time on call who said that Benazir Bhutto is alright. He said that then we took Asif Zardari Sahab on call and we normally said that is is a relief to know that she is alright to which He in the shaking voice said that she needed prayers while almost crying.
Waseem said that moments later they got the news of death of “Bibi” and he didn’t know how to break it. He took several minutes to built up the scenario and first he said that we are getting mixed news about Bibi’s health and we are getting opposite news about Bibi’s life. He after mustered up the courage to announce that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in no more.
Nausheen Shah a well known name that has been associated with the Showbiz industry especially the TV sector for years now. She had started her career with modeling then she started doing TV commercials along with modeling and later she started doing TV serials and has been doing them ever since.
Nausheen recently came on Good Morning Pakistan hosted by Nida Yasir for the promotions of her upcoming serial “Khud Parast”. Nida asked her whether she has ever got any comments in real life where people just assume her in the character and start saying things like you are not a good bahu or how can you be so manipulative to which Nausheen shared an incident. She narrated that once she was at the wedding of her friend and an elderly women said to her that she looks more good on screen.
Nausheen said that I couldn’t understand what she meant. Whether she wanted to say that you look more good in reality rather than on screen and it came out wrong but she was quite aged so Nausheen just said Thank You. That for her was the most interesting yet weird comment that she had ever gotten in life because mostly people say that she looks very young in comparison to her looks on screen.
“Freedom of speech” is entertained very badly now a days especially on social media. People literally consider showbiz artists as public property. They consider themselves privileged to be rude, say abusive things and they don’t even think for one second that the person they are abusing might be reading those hateful comments and must be getting hurt. It now has become a cool trend to be mean on social media and it is thought of as being opinionated.
Asma Abbas on a recent morning show was sharing that how people react when they see the senior artists in trendy wears and carrying today’s fashion. She said that for her it’s more of an issue because she she has recovered from cancer She said that people think that after forty years of age the actors should die. They should loose the will to live after forty. She said that people say things like “Budhi Gorhi Laal Lagam”, “Isko sharam nahi aati, iska dupatta kahan hai, ball to dekho, beti sy zada jawan lag rahi hai”.
She further added that now that she has recovered from cancer people just don’t let it go. Asma shared said that she did Luddi in Nida Yasir’s show and people being the moral police that they are said that “sharam nahi aati cancer k baad b kesy naach rahi hai”.
May be we should try give celebrities the freedom of choice in their lives. They can do anything and everything they wish and their being a celebrity doesn’t make them a public property and It should not take away their right to lead their personal lives however they want.

Baba Jani Episode 5 Story Review – Tonight’s episode of Baba Jani marked the beginning of a new life for Asfand. This beginning was simple and smooth even though Asfand’s sisters did whatever they could to make things complicated. Asfand waited for his sisters and his special day was incomplete without them but he was ecstatic to finally share his life with Sadia. Asfand is wiser today than he was few years back but he is still as loving as he was before.
This New Beginning Meant Something Different For Everyone
In tonight’s episode the viewers saw how Asfand and Sadia’s marriage had a different meaning for everyone involved, directly or indirectly. For Asfand this marriage meant stability and the way he looked at Sadia suggested it was also like a dream come true for him. Asfand did not see a sick and frail woman in Sadia, he saw someone he eagerly wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Asfand has been shown as someone who takes relationships very seriously therefore he started working on his relationship in his own way right from the very first interaction he had with Sadia. He is also someone who does not expect much from anyone and believes in giving more but at the same time likes to be pampered. The breakfast scene showed just that!
For Sadia, Asfand’s concern and his personality overall turned out to be a pleasant surprise. She molded herself in this new role instantly and just like Asfand she showed her affection towards him by doing whatever she could. At the same time, she conveyed her happiness and gratitude with her smiles. Nimra did not welcome this change in her life and like any other youngster she did not accept Asfand as her step-father. Nimra’s love for her father and her lack of acceptance of this situation was shown through different scenes. She walked away and was upset when the nikkah was taking place, she also clung to her belongings because she found it difficult to accept this change. She cried herself to sleep later on and refused to go with Asfand and her mother for dinner. Nimra was shown as a teenager who was angry, upset and confused. Sadia on the other hand was shown as a practical woman who knew that this marriage and a husband like Asfand was the best solution to her problems. Naila decided to pay her brother and bhabhi a visit only after her husband reminded her that if Najiba accepts the bhabhi first, Naila will feel left out. Najiba on the other hand stayed stubborn right till the end of this episode. Her stance was aggressive and her confrontation with Khala ended up making Asfand even more angry.
Asfand and Mehwish’s Meeting
This was something most of the viewers were waiting to see and some of them were wondering if this would lead to something more. This meeting was written and executed well. This was a chance meeting and one in which there were no such references to the past which would make it look like either one of these characters were still in love with each other. Mehwish was angry for obvious reasons and Asfand handled the situation like a gentleman.
Performances and Dialogues
The performances tonight were realistic and on point. The styling and the makeovers in this drama too have always been natural and pleasing. Savera Nadeem looked radiant as a bride which was somewhat unconvincing since she is someone who has been fighting a really serious disease for a long time now. Savera Nadeem and Faysal Qureshi’s expressions tonight said more than any of their dialogues did. The way these two individuals felt about each other was more obvious from the way they looked at each other than anything else. Madiha Imam was also brilliant in all the scenes. I do feel however that Sadia and Nimra have had hardly any interaction. Their relationship has not been explored which is why there are times when you feel like a background or introduction is missing. The dialogues in this episode were simple but affective. There were no filler scenes in tonight’s episode, the editing was perfect which resulted in a seamless narrative.
Overall Impression
The simplicity and clarity with which the story has been presented so far has been the number one reason why Baba Jani continues to be a must-watch drama. The subject matter is brand new and it has been presented in a visually pleasing manner on screen. The lighting, camerawork and styling has been perfect. Faysal Qureshi has been faultless as the good-natured, forgiving and graceful male protagonist. Baba Jani offers something different and it does so with love!

Pakistani Cinema’s growth had stopped altogether but then the cinema was revived and now it’s is growing with steady steps. Every year we get to see good movies. This year it was “Load Wedding”, “Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2”, “Teefa In Trouble” and “Parwaz Hai Junoon”. All these movies did comparatively great on box office considering the fact that cinema is still in its growth and development phase.
Yesterday Fawad Chaudhary, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pakistan announced on twitter that “Parwaz Hai Junoon” is going to be screened commercially in Saudi Arabia. He tweeted, “Pakistani Movie “Parwaz hai Junoon” ll be the first Pak commercial movie to be screened in #SaudiArabia on 11th October.
He further shared that more films will be screened in the coming months not just in one country but all around the world. He said, “more films and more screenings around the world in coming months InshAllah”.
Although Parchi was also released in Saudi Arabia earlier this year but it was screened privately. Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be the first one to have the commercial screening.

Woh Mera Dil Tha Episode 23 Story Review – This heart-warming episode of Woh Mera Dil Tha was Impeccably scripted and beautifully directed. Woh Mera Dil Tha is one of those rare dramas which get better with every passing episode and this second last episode was one of the most marvelously poignant episodes of this drama so far. It was the kind of episode which you can watch over and over again. There are very few writers who can keep the essence of a story alive right till the end and add novelty to even the simplest scripts, Faiza Iftikhar is definitely one of them. After watching so many ishq tamashas this year on Pakistani channels, a romantic story like this one which is simple yet unique in its own way is refreshing. Woh Mera Dil Tha is completely free of clichés and stereotypes which itself is its biggest success.
Sami Khan and Zaid – The Perfect match!
Sami Khan’s heartfelt performance in this episode of Woh Mera Dil Tha made his presence felt every step of the way. He absolutely and completely nailed every single expression in this episode. This isn’t the first time that Sami Khan has given his absolute best to a role he is playing but what makes this character particularly special is that Zaid’s coming-of-age story has been written beautifully too. The guilt Zaid felt was apparent in all the scenes, the willingness with which he accepted his faults turned his weaknesses into his strengths.
Zaid clearly is no longer the cold and calculated person who never felt vulnerable in any way. In this episode, Zaid was not just terribly sorry for his actions but also scared of his own feelings. Sami Khan did a splendid job of translating this fear and realization on screen which made his scenes even more powerful.
Will Arham Turn Things Around In The End?
Sami Khan’s performance has been the highlight of this show but Furqan Qureshi’s acting has been terribly disappointing. Arham has many flaws but so does Zaid, while Sami Khan always made his character look charming in some way, Arham keeps you wondering why an intelligent girl like Naina would be attracted to him in the first place. Even tonight when Arham confronted Zaid, the sensitivity with which some of the dialogues should have been delivered was completely missing.
Furqan Qureshi has been doing the bear minimum which is why Arham’s character comes across as too plain and annoying. Having said that, it did look like in the last episode Arham might shift things around completely for both Naina and Zaid. Zaid and Arham were really close therefore Arham could tell that even though Zaid was not admitting it, he really was in love with Naina.
Engaging Dialogues and Emotional Storytelling
Many of the dialogues and situations in this episode reflected the beauty of every day life conversations. The interactions of the family members with each other in particular were written and executed well. Some of the conversations were extremely touching. Zaid’s conversation with Sonia, all of Naina’s conversations with Zaid’s family members and Shabana in particular were extremely poignant. The way everyone kept on telling Zaid off yet he did not say anything in his defence was also moving. Naina’s maturity was effectively conveyed through her dialogues. Madiha Imam has also translated this character beautifully on screen. She makes sure that she presents the goodness of Naina’s character as her strength and not her weakness. Naina’s dialogues when Zaid’s father came to take her home were also right on point.
Overall Impression
This second last episode had more strengths than weaknesses. With the exception of few performances which were not up to the mark, everything else was phenomenal. This episode was also visually pleasing (for a change), the script, direction and few of the performances were the best part of this beautiful second last episode.
